William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare That time of year thou mayst in me behold (Sonnet 73)
The sonnet, originating in Italy, was formed by Francesco Petrarch. The Petrarchan sonnet,
originally consisting of two quatrains and a couplet, was soon brought to England where William
Shakespeare took an interest in this unknown form of poetry. Shakespeare revised the sonnet so it
consisted of three quatrains with the rhyming scheme of abab cdcd efef and a rhyming couplet at
the end. This revised sonnet was then referred to as a Shakespearean sonnet. Shakespeare wrote in
total 154 sonnets originating in the early 1590 s, many of his sonnets were linked together.
Sonnets 71 74 are linked by the subject of the speaker s projected death and self pity, the ... Show

When it s written sunset fadeth in the west this is when the poet s last breath leaves him leading
into the second quatrain.
Within the second quatrain, blackness is essential when it comes to the imagery. When it is
written which by and by black night doth take away , black night is a metaphor for death itself.
As the black night closes around day so does it close around the life of the poet. When death s
second self is mentioned it relates to shakespeare s earlier work of Macbeth when Macbeth himself
says sleep is the death of each day s life . This shows that shakespeare uses the common theme of
death throughout his works.
The third quatrain, filled with pathos and marvelous metaphors, evokes the image of fading coals
in the ashes of youth along with an abundance of imagery. The persona, once plentiful with life
and love, now is feeding of off his foreseeable death. The ashes can also refer
to the personas youth, one that is fading and no longer exists in his eyes. The poet no longer has
inspiration so he relies on the memory of his youth and is consumed by the loss of it. The sonnet
turns into more of a pitiful plea at the end begging for his lost youth as he is fading into oblivion.
He wishes to be remembered in the favorable light of his youth, not in the state in which he depicts
himself throughout the poem. The poet hates the way time has ravaged him mentally and
physically. This last pitiful part of the

Khmer Rouge s interpretation of Leninist/Marxist/Maoist communist model made them believe

Major Challenges of Organizational Management
MAJOR CHALLENGES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
There are a number of differences between FMC s Aberdeen and Green River, the two facilities
of discussion. One may assume, therefore, that managerial styles, business practices, and other
aspects of business and the employees involved, would be very different from one another. On the
other hand, it is quite possible to use very similar styles of doing business and managing a
company, despite differences in the company, as a good style of managing, and good practices
would assist any business in succeeding. Management, employees and productivity being the main
focus s at hand, one may first want to review these differences between the two facilities. To begin
with, the facility in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good communication between all management levels and employees is also necessary in keeping
any business running efficiently. Again, seeing as how the Aberdeen facility has already
established these practices, and has them running smoothly, they need only to maintain them and
increase innovation with the times.
If I were to use an analogy to describe these two types of managerial styles, I would state that the
original style of managing was like a pyramid, and this new style of managing was a linked
chain. The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of
superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else.
This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due
to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of
said pyramid. The linked chain on the other hand, though still managed with upper and lower
levels, reacts more as a team, giving those involved more recognition for their accomplishments.
People who are recognized as such, and appreciated for their individual strengths, may be more
likely to utilize these strengths and feel that they are a part of the company, rather than a pawn of
the company. There is something very positive to be said for this type of thinking, if everyone on
the Earth felt

Abstract
This paper investigates the impact of green supply chain management on industry, consumer
perception and environment. Through research into multiple companies and case studies, a
distorted perception among large corporations shows a historic struggle to find a balance between
profit and sustainability. However, the potential long term effects of the lack of environmental
courtesy cannot be undone and therefore must be carefully engineered. Multi billion dollar
automotive corporations such as Hyundai and Toyota will be discussed and studied in depth to

Green Supply Chain Management
In Efficient Business Practices
The automotive industry changed the way that Americans purchased products when cars became
an affordable luxury in the early 19th century. Not only did cars drastically reduce travel in daily
life, they provided a gateway of possibilities for expanding business beyond carriage or foot travel.
Due to the mass production assembly line strategy implemented by Henry Ford, cars could be
produced quickly and efficiently. This dramatic shift in production dropped prices to the affordable
level for the average American, which led to the establishment of buying on credit. The automotive
industry provides economic growth and convenience in America and throughout the world but this
amenity comes at a great price to the environment. Throughout the entire life cycle of an automobile
, carbon emissions and waste are produced. Although most believe that automobiles creates only
carbon emissions when in use, the process begins negatively contributing to the environment long
before and long after the life of the car. Additionally, the understanding and research related to
carbon emissions from the use of gasoline powered cars has provided consumers with an awareness
of their effect on the environment. For some, this realization has prompted conservatory measures
in vehicle use, utilizing public

The Nature Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the symbolic nature of the green light conveys the
message that holding onto a fantasy for too long can lead to loss of reality. One ominous midnight,
Nick, Mr. Jay Gatsby s neighbor, observes a strange man standing still in his well kept lawn looking
only into the bay and something about that man in his leisurely movements and the secure position
of his feet upon the lawn suggested that it was Mr. Gatsby , without knowing his intentions Nick
glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away
(Fitzgerald 25 26). Gatsby s specific stance and focused stare signifies the lack of interest he
possesses for the remaining parts of his life at that moment. When

Outline and evaluate two methods of stress management Essays
Outline and evaluate two methods of stress management.
One physiological method of treatment is Biofeedback. Physiological methods help people cope
with the effects of stress by changing the way the body responds to it. With biofeedback the aim is
to teach the client how to relax. The person learns how to regulate the symptoms of stress in real
life stressful situations.
There are 4 steps involved. Firstly, the person is attached to a machine that monitors the body s
response to stressors and then gives feed back on heart rate and blood pressure etc. The person
then learns to control these symptoms and reduce the effect that stress has on the blood pressure
etc. They may learn to take deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also an effective treatment as it aims to treat the cause of the problem as well as the
symptoms. It can give clients a greater sense of control over themselves as well which can have
much longer lasting benefits. Another advantage would be that it has no side effects or harmful
addictions attached etc. It is also voluntary and not invasive for example in drug treatment
withdrawal symptoms may be distressing. Biofeedback can be used for an unlimited time, as it is
not addictive in the way that BZ s (for example) can be (as they are only used for a maximum of
four weeks to prevent this) so biofeedback is seen as more of a long term cure of stress.
However, biofeedback has the drawback of being extremely costly and time consuming. It needs
specialist equipment and expert supervision, although attempts have been made to produce a more
accessible therapy by using cards the client would put their thumb on a card and it would measure
the stress levels (stressed, tense, normal, calm) etc. Some also argue that the benefits of
biofeedback can be achieved from other relaxation techniques and so it is an unnecessary expense.
Another method of stress includes the psychological technique of stress inoculation training
(Meichenbaum). The training was

2. What additional questions should you ask regarding this patient s chief reason for seeking care?
Chest pain, dyspnea (especially on exertion), orthopnea, cough, fatigue, cyanosis or pallor, edema,
nocturia, history of cardiac problems, family history of cardiac problems, cardiac risk factors,
current medications.
3. After completing the health history, you prepare for the physical examination. What steps should
you include in your assessment?
Inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation of lung sounds, heart sounds, adventitious sounds.
4. What should you keep in mind, regarding this patient s age, when assessing her neck veins?
View the right internal jugular vein when measuring jugular venous pressure. With aging, the aorta
stiffens, dilates, elongates, resulting in decreased pulsations on the left side. In addition, use
caution when palpating auscultating the carotid artery. Pressure in the carotid sinus may cause a

5. Describe how you would assess her heart sounds.
Explain to her (through her daughter as necessary) what you will be doing. You might want to
explain that t takes extra time to listen to her heart that just because you listen for a long time does
not indicate there is a problem. Move your stethoscope in inch long increments, in a Z pattern
across the chest, from the base of the heart, across down, then over to the apex. Although heart

Stalker Essay
The 1979 science fiction film Stalker, directed by legendary Soviet filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky,
is a film which contributes to historical understanding by being a product of its time. For many
individuals in Soviet audiences, Stalker presented itself as an allegory for the yearn for greater
freedom: personal, artistic or ideological freedom depending on the interpretation one ascribes to
the film. Stalker s titular character s obsession with the the Zone, a paradise like location,
resonated with audiences growing dissent with the repressive nature of the Soviet Union, and

Everywhere feels like a prison to me , a line strongly reminiscent of Jean Jacques Rousseau s

Karl Popper s Philosophy Of Science
When one gets asked, what is science? The answer may seem straightforward: biology, physics,
chemistry, etc. However, asking the same question to a philosopher, the answer is completely
different. In other words, Philosophers are not asking for a mere list of sciences but, are seeking to
answer one specific question: What is it that makes something a science. In further detail, the
Philosophy of science is a branch of philosophy concerned with the foundations, methods, and
implications of science. Therefore, the three main questions are: what qualify as science, how
reliable are scientific theories, and what is the ultimate purpose of science. This discipline
overlaps with metaphysics, ontology, and epistemology, for example, when it explores the
relationship between science and truth. In addition to these general questions about science as
a whole, philosophers of science consider problems that apply to particular sciences (such as
biology or physics). In this essay, I will be introducing and discussing Karl popper s philosophy
of science and its criticisms. To begin, Karl popper s philosophical view of science is often
referred to falsificationism, something to be proven false. This is shown through this example: If
Socrates is a god, then Socrates is immortal. Socrates is not immortal. Therefore, Socrates is not a
god. In other words, Popper s philosophy of science is that scientific knowledge progresses by a
series of conjectures and refutations; these

Summary In Roald Dahl s Lamb To The Slaughter
The Guilty Maloney
Time stands still for the defendant and her dead husband, but was she insane? Lamb to the
Slaughter, a short story written by Roald Dahl. The story places the reader in a scenario where
Mary Maloney kills her husband after he wishes to have a divorce. She does this with a frozen leg
of lamb that she was going to prepare for dinner. Mary is either guilty of murder or innocent due to
insanity, supported by evidence from the story. Mary should be deemed guilty and responsible for
the murder of her husband Patrick because she contained enough sanity to formulate a plan to
escape police persecution.
First, Mary was able to acknowledge that she had killed Patrick. At the time of the murder she was
pregnant with a child, and she had contemplated what the police would do when the baby was born.
She began thinking very fast. As the wife of a detective, she knew what the punishment would be.
(Dahl 382) The character Mary was aware of the punishment and could deduce that there would be
consequences. The legal insanity defense is used properly when the defendant is unaware that they
committed the crime or what they had done was wrong or illegal. On the other hand, what about
the baby? What were the laws about murderers with unborn children? (Dahl 382) Mary worried
about what the future of her baby would be, a trait not found is most diagnosed with a mental

New York University-Personal Narrative
The cold early morning December breeze nipped the tip of my nose fiercely, as I stepped out of

of the Christian regimes but also criticized Leibniz s philosophy of absolute optimism.

The Politics Of The United States Politics
Sir Walter Scott (1896) once said Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to
deceive! (Canto XI, XVII). In other words, lying leads to more deceit until one is so caught up in
the lies that it is virtually impossible to escape. Truth is highly valued in society; so, what are the
reactions when the leaders of society lieto their constituents? This is an issue that has recently
manifested in the United States politics. With the election of President Donald Trump, the media
have become increasingly interested in how truthful the members of the political system are. Many
have started demanding transparency from those in positions of power. In contrast, some, who will
be discussed later, believe that officials should be able... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe presidents typically have a high percentage of falsities. To solve this query, Barack
Obama s profile will be examined. PolitiFact has a record of only 26% of what Obama said as
containing some degree of falsehood (PolitiFact, 2016). The disparity between these two figures
is offsetting to say the least. In the few short weeks in which he has held office, more than two of
every three comments made by President Trump have been reported to be incorrect in some form.
The issue is so bad that Trump s counselors have begun using terms like alternative facts in order to
mask the outright deception. This problem is not unique to Trump; in fact, many high level
politicians have been caught in lies recently. For example, House Speaker Paul Ryan has been
accused of being dishonest about certain things relating to Medicare. A writer for The Huffington
Post claimed that Ryan is using deceit to convince people that the Medicare system is broken, and
that it must be destroyed (Altman, 2017). There are countless other instances of this happening
with politicians, and it is not a new problem. Politicians are not flawless; they make mistakes and
occasionally act in their own best interest like all humans. Furthermore, they are people with a
responsibility to handle an exuberant amount of sensitive information and make critical decisions.
For this reason, it is not surprising that there is an unintentional slip up on

CARBOXYLIC ACIDS Carboxylic acids are strong organic acids, soluble in organic solvent and

Part 2. Recovery of Non Ionic Acids by Acidification
The carboxylic acid is recovered from the carboxylate salt dissolved in aqueous solution by
acidification. Once protonated, the carboxylic acid becomes non ionic, thus insoluble in water. As
a result, the acid precipitates out as a solid. This solid will be recrystallized for purification. The

Comparing Standard of Living and Quality of Life Between...
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of all final goods and services produced by
factors of production within a country in a given period of time. It can be calculated using either
the income, output, or expenditure method as illustrated on the circular flow of income diagram
below.
Standard of Living, in a purely material dimension is the average amount of GDP per person in
a country (therefore determining access to goods and services). However the term has a much
broader, non material dimension involving issues of quality of life and are therefore much more
difficult to quantify. There is no single measure of SoL, but a range of indicators, which can be

A Film On The Melting Ice Caps Essay
Reina of Antarctica
I propose a film on the melting ice caps, using the character Reina as the reason that they are
melting. She will be the reason for melting the ice caps due to humans came to her home and
drill for oil where she lives. I chose to have both Greek and Japanese mythology because I
thought it would be a great idea to see how the two cultures will come together. Since both
countries are known by many people all around the world and because they are surrounded by the
sea these two countries would be the first to be swallowed by the sea that surrounds then due to the
melted ice caps. The ending is supposed to represent the ice caps still melting now. The government
that is going to sponsor the drilling company will be the English because the English are newer at
drilling than the United States, since they are new at drilling they were exploited by the company.
Antarctica, extremely cold and the home of penguins, and huge icebergs. The home of the
princess of the cold, Reina. She wears what a normal teenager may wear during the summer. Yet, it
is during the winter and she doesn t mind it. It is during the third quarter of year, so it is extremely
cold and 72 degrees Fahrenheit. She is friends with all the animals near her home. She is a beautiful
young woman who transforms into a monster when she is upset.

Addiction In Double Down
With the broad spectrum of addictions being diagnosed, analyzed, and remedied people mostly
ignore the other side of what addictions can also cause. Relationships can be created and destroyed
because of addictions and recovery is a tremendous struggle. In Double Down. The authors and
brothers, Fredrick and Stephen Barthelme, told of their addictionto gambling and the illusions of
the casinos. They had led normal lives excluding their gambling addictions, both being Professors
at the college level. No previous accounts of addiction to drugs or alcohol were had, but following
the death of their parents and receiving a massive inheritance they had turned to gambling. They
lose mostly all of the inheritance and later get caught trying to defeat the illusion of the casinos, via
cheating. Another article that relates to addiction is called, Sleeping... Show more content on

The relationship was very one sided but provided Steiner with a feeling of being needed that she
felt had accommodated her. Both stories speak of their addictions, either to an unhealthy
relationship or gambling, but what it didn t tell was the toll it had on the relationships involved
with these people. Relationships are at the expense of the addicted and are only healthy or
repairable when compromise from the addiction and the addicted begins.
Relationships vary from person to person, whether it s between lovers or siblings in these cases. In
Double Down the Barthelme brothers rely on one another and could contribute to their clouded

contributes to their lacking self control being expressed. They were fully aware of their co

Essay about AdlerianTheoryweek1
Adlerian Theory Suzette R. Derosier CNDV 5311 Lamar University Adlerian Theory Alfred Adler
contributed groundbreaking theories to psychology that far surpassed his mentors and paved the
way for modern psychology today. Adler was a contemporary of Sigmund Freud at the turn of the
last century. Although he had great respect for Freud he felt restricted by Freud s theories that put
the cause of human behavior as constructs of biology, and that every person suffered from the same
problems. Adler believed that human beings were more than mere repeating patterns physiology.
Adler believed that humans created their own behaviors based on their experiences and emotions.

His theory was that people can change their own behavior for the better if they can realize what
past experiences made them feel inferior, acknowledge those experiences, and learn that they
have the power to change themselves and grow (intellectually) from that knowledge. This in turn
can motivate them to change their behavior from dysfunctional to successful and thriving within
their community. In one counseling session a therapist describes his client as almost selfish to a
fault . This selfish behavior is a result of experiences in her life when she needed help from
others and it was not available. In turn she learned how to take care of herself and not wait or ask
others for help. This behavior makes her very self sufficient but it can affect her relationships
negatively. This impacts the trust she has for people, in turn others will not trust her and this is a
crucial element in a healthy relationship. Accepting her faults and analyzing them will aid her in
forming a plan to change her behavior. Adlerian Therapeutic Techniques The foundation of Adler s
therapeutic technique is to get to know his client as an individual with emotions and experiences
like no one else. This is accomplished with an extensive interview covering a wide range of topics
such as; their first early childhood memories, their birth order in the family, and their relationships
with family members.

As part of the action research cycle analysis will facilitate a process of dialectic examination.
Winter (1989) recognises that progress in action research depends upon a researcher s ability to
represent the theory itself along with a way of understanding it. Consequently, through the process
of analysis I will endeavour to understand and explain the key findings from the data collected.
In England children start formal schooling at the age of four. However many children attend
nursery prior to starting school, with statistics from the Department for Education stating there were
1,673,130 children under the age of 4 attending early education in 2014 (Department for Education,
2014, p13). Whilst some families require early care, due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, government agendas persist on viewing early years as a preparation for school, with
Elizabeth Truss suggesting increased access to early learning would improve the academic ability of
children (BBC, 2014).
In contrast, Britain s House of Commons Education Select Committee (2000) proposed that
formalised learning could damage learning whilst Tricia David (1998) of the Professional
Association of Nursery Nurses suggested that emphasis on formal education before the age of five
could result in a sense of failure, leading to long term underachievement and disaffection.
Correspondingly Whitebread (2013) suggests that formalised learning should be delayed, similarly
to European countries who currently have higher levels of academic achievement and child well
being.
With families and government agendas seeking early years provision as the stepping stone to
school, with the capacity to improve academic success, formalised activities such as reading and
writing dominate early years classrooms. The data collected for this research indicates that
families within my setting believe that formalised learning is a necessary activity for preparation
for school. Comments such as, It would be wonderful to let my child play all day, but what are
they going to learn? (Archive 7: Parent 4) implies that play is not deemed part of the school
readiness agenda.

1984 Analysis Essay
History and 1984
War is peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is strength. In George Orwell s 1984, a light is
shining on the concept of a negative utopia, or dystopia caused by totalitarianism. Totalitarianism
is, a form of government in which political authority exercises absolute and centralized control
over all aspects of lifeВ… and any opposing political and/or cultural expressions are suppressed.
Having lived in a time of totalitarianism regime, Orwell had a firsthand account of its horrific
lengths and negative affects. Within 1984, Orwell derives aspects of the actual government of his
time to create, The Party , Big Brother , and the Thought Police . Using these fictional recreations
of reality, Orwell s 1984 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stalin use this concept in the 30 s for the same reason as the party; to make the people believe the
government was legitimate. Another aspect of Orwell s prophetic novel is the thought of
technology. During the time that Orwell wrote 1984, the radio was more comment than the
television and computers had not even been considered. Nonetheless, Orwell found a way to
include these things in his story. The tele screen could be related to the modern TV. Also, in the
book, the control of machinery and sources of information are controlled by computers. Orwell uses
technology in this book to
show that these things that were made to help man, can lead to the corruptness and downfall of
society, much like what is being seen today. Living in a world that continues to make
advancements technologically and politically, a book written more than 50 years ago still warns
the world of what could happen if government becomes too forceful. Because of George Orwell s
strong hatred for totalitarianism and its life dictating qualities, readers can get a taste of the
perfect dystopia . Though the people of today have been warned and are afraid of an all controlling
government, they continue to allow the concept of 1984 to become more and more real. If people
continue to just watch their governments make decisions and not ask questions, they will fall
victim to its power. If a man not of this time understands the terror of totalitarianism, everyone

Managerial And Behavioural Theory Of The Firm
Introduction
With the roots of the neoclassical theory of the firm dating back to the 1770 s and some of the
more recent developments being some 80 years ago, it is understandable that economists have
begun to question how applicable the Neoclassical theory of the firm is to present day
corporations. (Lipczynski, Wilson, Goddard, 2009) Managerial and behavioural theories have been
developed with the intention of providing a more realistic insight into how contemporary
organisations function. This paper will address how the managerial and behavioural theories differ
to the neoclassical approach of the firm, and to what extent they enhance our understanding of
firms. In doing so Baumol s sales revenue maximisation and Williamson s ... Show more content on

At its most basic, neoclassical is reliant upon the surrounding market conditions controlling the
decisions of firms. The Neoclassical approach to the firm provides us with a market wide
framework from which we can make predictions on future outcomes.
During the eighteenth century economic thinking was heavily influenced by the growing textile
industry, where the majority of suppliers were producing homogenous products; leaving no motive
for the economic theory being developed to account for diverse market conditions. (Lipczynski,
Wilson, Goddard, 2009) According to The Modern Corporation and Private Property Revised
Edition (1969) written by Berle and Means, out of The 200 Largest Non Financial Corporations in
the United States the number classed as Management Controlled increased from 88 to 169 from
1929 to 1963 respectively. (Berle and Means, 1968) Amidst the globalisation of firms and the rise
of the stock exchange, firms have become more complex and there ownership has become more
diluted. The supermarket industry is an example of how firms have become more multifaceted;
selling thousands of heterogeneous products, buying from countless suppliers and being owned by
whoever chooses to buy shares on the stock exchange. Due to firms increasing in both size and
complexity, owners of firms often employ teams of managers to run their

Developing A World Class Education System
Regional Context
Producing a world class education system to strengthen human capital and to produce the skills
necessary for the citizenry, was a goal which drove Jamaica s initiatives as they continue to strive
to build strength to compete in the global economy (Davis, 2004). According to Davis (2004) to
achieve this goal the Jamaican authorities formulated a task force to assess and propose the way
forward in education in their country. From the assessment, the task force suggested a number of
recommendations, one of which was the implementation of a seamless K to 12 system. This
recommendation was categorized to specifically address the issue of chronic under achievement

became a signatory to some of the landmark conventions and achievements of UNESCO as seen in
diagram 1. The Convention on the United Nations Rights of the child, which was ratified by
Trinidad and Tobago in December 1991, includes items such as principle 5 and to a lesser extent
principle 10 referring to the protection, treatment and provisions of children including those with
special needs.
Trinidad and Tobago is also a signatory to the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities,
ratified on June 2015. This Convention aims at addressing the numerous obstacles that hinder
persons with disabilities. Article number 24 of the Convention refers to five elaborations on the
issue of education. Number 5 of Article 24 refers to

Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea
Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966
respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s
novel was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning
to be seen as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency
which resulted in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination
faced as a Creole woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors
convey significant themes such as racism, genderdisparity and social class can be compared in
further detail. Initially, the titles of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding
the status of women at the time. Rhys novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic
Ocean. This is known for the infamous Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where
ships disappear under mysterious circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that
characters may be imprisoned in their personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with
her racial identity as a white Creole. Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso
Sea, which was symbolic of neglect, devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the
protagonist of the novella, Antoinette. Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during
the 20th Century, where women were often reduced

Psychodynamic And Object Relations Theories
Amongst all psychodynamic approaches, object relations theory fitted like a puzzle for me. I

deep personal level where my poor relationship with my motheraffected my married life and in my
client work a common thread that ran through was how faulty infantile object relations have an
impact on adult relationships. Object relations theory follows a model that believes that children
are driven by the need for attachment with primary caregivers especially the mother and it is
paramount for the development of a free functioning psychic structure.

Comparing Sigmund Freud s Totem And Taboo
According to Totem and Taboo, Sigmund Freud believes that humans are born with the
unconscious desire of sexuality and violence, especially incest. Moreover, there s a paternal
complex within the humans minds. In the early ages of human beings, there were phenomena
about totemism, which the clans or the family have a ritualized symbol of a specific animal. The
totemic meal, which is the only time for the people to have a festival to kill the totem animals and
eat them, is related to the unconscious desire to kill the fathe but was set by rules to not be done.

Supernatural And Spiritual Reasoning Regarding The...
Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often
discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people
still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world
has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to
an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted
World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to
accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self
correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty.
To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and
desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues
which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right.
What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct
itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated
process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment,
record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results
could be compared between the two.

The Stories Of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a 19th century author who is known by his stories of Sherlock
Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is a crime series based in the Victorian era when feminists in this
period were calling for women and children to have equal protection under the law (Miller 55).
He is consider one of most known iconic British characters created who solves mysteries with
visual detection. One thing is clear author Conan Doyle portrays women as a weakness in
Holmes s visual approach, his extraordinary powers (Doyle 240) on crime cases, female
criminals either get the last laugh or outwit him. As years went by many adaptations brought the
adventures to life with their own twists and turns on their take on the story plot especially when
it comes to criminality and femininity (Miller 30). Such as the BBC television show version of
Sherlock of its version of The Abominable Bride or even CBS Elementary of its version of Irene
Adler and Moriarty in The Woman episode, the question lays are the views truly different or any
better when it comes to representing female criminals or women in general. Female criminals
comes into play in many of Conan Doyle s Sherlock series and they somehow women is able to

outward appearance because he believes one should look at the matter clearly and fairly (Doyle

What Is Metaphors Used In The Gothic Novel
These dark overtones and internal tensions laid the foundation perfectly for the development of the
gothic novel. The fear of the unknown are represented in Radcliffe s gothic novel as the mystery
surrounding the fates of other women. Once Emily has found out the truth about the other women,
then she is freed of her fears and is able to cope with them. In a very real way she has made the
transition to confidence in herself and her own future. This particular brand of gothic novel seems
to be an encouragement to women and reassures them. Metaphors and Simile have been a part of
the human experience since man began comparing and contrasting things to one another. Used by
poets and novelists alike to express comparisons, these elements are extremely useful to the writer.
Radcliffe manages to use metaphors to continue and round out the overall tone of the novel. This,
too, is evident in the Vol. 2, ch. 5 example. As the landscape changes, she is evoking an implied
metaphor stating that experience is constantly changing and that sometimes, if one is lucky, one
will suddenly hit upon an inner truthor two, which comes as a result of the constant changing.
Interestingly enough, Radcliffe also employs very Romantic Era techniques of utilizing nature to
illustrate some of these truths, both inner and outer. In the Vol. 2, ch. 5 piece, the landscape is
described in detail. If Classical styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced,
structured, and rational, then

Essay on The Great Terror in Russia
Under a backdrop of systematic fear and terror, the Stalinist juggernaut flourished. Stalin s
purges, otherwise known as the Great Terror , grew from his obsession and desire for sole
dictatorship, marking a period of extreme persecution and oppression in the Soviet Union during
the late 1930s. The purges did not merely remove potential enemies. They also raised up a new
ruling elite which Stalin had reason to think he would find more dependable. (Historian David

removing his long term opponents, but in doing so, also caused fear in future ones. This created a

By imprisoning and executing members that opposed his views and were potential threats to his
position, Stalin was able to keep control over the USSR by using fear. Hence, this raised up a

their life. The purges not only impacted those openly opposed to Stalin and party members, but
had devastating effects on ordinary people too, also resulting in the prevention of progress in the
Soviet community, impacting it s future. During Stalin s rule of the country over 20 million
people were sent to labor camps of the Gulag, where nearly half of them died. Fear of losing his
power and dictatorship led Stalin to believe that the educated would be most likely to challenge his

inferior towards the educated class, also leading to obsessive determination to remove the threat.
Subsequently, scientists, doctors and engineers, became targets, and were also imprisoned and

Instead, the Mohican Chief s sons are attracted to the girls. During a dispute, the militia of the
Fort were not allowed to leave and yet the white son named Hawkeye frees them to leave. He is
condemned to die for his actions. But before sentence is carried out, the French prepare to attack
the Fort and tell the British their reinforcements will not be coming to their aide.
In an act of honor, the French General allows the British to evacuate with their lives. However, the
Huron Warrior Magua, who originally was to escort the Major and the daughters, ambushes the

Beethoven s Early Life
Beethoven was born on December 16, 1770 in Bonn, Germany in the Electorate of Cologne. He
was baptized on December 17, 1770. He had two younger brother, Caspar and Joann. His mother
was Maria Magdalena van Beethoven and his father was Johann van Beethoven. He was an
innovator, widening the scope of sonata, symphony, concerto and quartet. He combined vocals and
instruments in a new way to create his own type of music. His music was like no other, and the
most interesting part about it is that he was deaf when his most famous works were created.
Beethoven was an amazing composer who worked his whole life to create lovely music (Bio.com).

period is his middle period (1802 1827) when he produced a great amount of his most famous

but they were his serious and personal works. Also, he showed the world how his piano of his

The Media Access Control Address
1. Introduction
Media Access control address is a permanent/fixed address which is assigned to every hardware
device connected to a network (wireless adapter, network interface card etc.) by the hardware
manufacturer. Every device on a network has an ip address, IP is an internet protocol which give
unique identity to the devices at network layer. IP addresscan be frequently changed. One the other
side, MAC addresses are permanent and they work at layer 2 (data link layer). MAC Address is also
known as hardware address or physical address of a device. Changing of MAC address may
allow the bypassing of access control list of router/servers by hiding the computer/device on a
network or allowing it to deceive another network devices. This is called the spoofing of MAC
Address. The media address control spoofing does not mean that we can write the new Mac on
the chipset of network interface card but the Mac spoofing is the way to change MAC details of
physical configuration of the operating system. Spoofing is used to hiding the original machine
which sent the data, this can be done to avoid original machine address or to make it
undetectable. For the safety reasons we don t want to show the original address of the machine
which send the data , because hackers ,viruses etc. can target our machines by knowing the
original MAC addresses. MAC spoofing is one of the biggest threat for cybercrime investigation
agencies, in this today s world there is no physical evidence where the

Examples Of Visual Persuasion And Propaganda In Mass Media
Aizhan Akhmetbek
Visual persuasion and propaganda in mass media: example of Putin s covers in Time magazine
As we have seen throughout the course visual communication techniques play significant role in
our life since it touches upon almost every sphere starting from social aspects to political ones.
These techniques are not important per se but rather there is a particular purpose they seek. One of
these purposes is persuasion. According to Lester (p. 77): communication is fundamentally and
essentially a matter of persuasion, attitude change, behavior modification, and socialization through
the transmission of information . Images are an essential part of the visual persuasion, which
modern mass media incorporates. As we have observed in our readings this visual persuasion can
take different forms in order to be the most effective and to achieve its goal. Lester states that: most
information, whether factual or not, is communicated through the mass media. More and more that
information relies on the emotional appeal inherent in visual presentations (ibid). Moreover:
pictures have always been the surest way of conveying an idea (ibid). One of the brightest examples
is the covers of different newspapers and journals that not only demonstrate the certain attitude and
opinion toward particular topics but also try to make the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the cover has an alarming color of red. Besides, the left side of Putin s face is covered
with the crowd protesting. Not occasionally the color of the cover is red. According to Garber
and Hayatt (314): color is a powerful and salient persuasive communication tool . Furthermore,
1987 study showed that apart from love and passion red color symbolized danger and strength
(316). The cover seems to state that actions that Putin has undertaken are inherently bad and Putin
himself is portrayed as evil being the key source of

The Importance Of Women s Reproductive Rights In The...
Women s reproductive rights has always been a hot topic amongst the people of the United
States, as well as is one of the heavy hitters in determining whether an individual identifies his or
herself as a Democrat or a Republican, in terms of political affiliation. Democrats believe that a
person should have the ability to decide whether or not they want to bear a child or get an abortion,
thus they are identified as pro choice. Whereas, Republicans more so advocate against the ideas of
abortion and contraception, their views are considered pro life.
Feminist Margaret Sanger, a key player in creating a contraceptive for women, believes that
women should be in control of their own lives. She believes that a woman should not have to be
weary with the idea that she may become pregnant every time she participates in sexual intercourse.
In comparing both of the main political parties, one may identify Margaret Sanger as a strong pro
choice advocate for women. She fought hard and spoke passionately about why she believed that
creating this contraceptive would be beneficial. However, towards the height of her campaign for
the pill she begins to share some very eugenistic views that may cause many to question the benefits
of the pill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a high school student, I was completely unaware that there were topics such as population
control, and that women were restricted access to birth control because of the need for population
growth as Roxanne Gay states in her article entitled The Alienable Rights of Women . Thus, when
moving to the mainland for university my eyes began to open to how controlling the government is
on the choices men and women make in terms of the economy, their health, and their everyday

When it s written sunset fadeth in the west this is when the poet s last breath leaves him leading into the second quatrain. Within the second quatrain, blackness is essential when it comes to the imagery. When it is written which by and by black night doth take away , black night is a metaphor for death itself. As the black night closes around day so does it close around the life of the poet. When death s second self is mentioned it relates to shakespeare s earlier work of Macbeth when Macbeth himself says sleep is the death of each day s life . This shows that shakespeare uses the common theme of death throughout his works. The third quatrain, filled with pathos and marvelous metaphors, evokes the image of fading coals in the ashes of youth along with an abundance of imagery. The persona, once plentiful with life and love, now is feeding of off his foreseeable death. The ashes can also refer to the personas youth, one that is fading and no longer exists in his eyes. The poet no longer has inspiration so he relies on the memory of his youth and is consumed by the loss of it. The sonnet turns into more of a pitiful plea at the end begging for his lost youth as he is fading into oblivion. He wishes to be remembered in the favorable light of his youth, not in the state in which he depicts himself throughout the poem. The poet hates the way time has ravaged him mentally and physically. On the other hand, it is quite possible to use very similar styles of doing business and managing a company, despite differences in the company, as a good style of managing, and good practices would assist any business in succeeding. Again, seeing as how the Aberdeen facility has already established these practices, and has them running smoothly, they need only to maintain them and increase innovation with the times. If I were to use an analogy to describe these two types of managerial styles, I would state that the original style of managing was like a pyramid, and this new style of managing was a linked chain. The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else. This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of said pyramid. The linked chain on the other hand, though still managed with upper and lower levels, reacts more as a team, giving those involved more recognition for their accomplishments. People who are recognized as such, and appreciated for their individual strengths, may be more likely to utilize these strengths and feel that they are a part of the company, rather than a pawn of the company. Not only did cars drastically reduce travel in daily life, they provided a gateway of possibilities for expanding business beyond carriage or foot travel. Due to the mass production assembly line strategy implemented by Henry Ford, cars could be produced quickly and efficiently. This dramatic shift in production dropped prices to the affordable level for the average American, which led to the establishment of buying on credit. The automotive industry provides economic growth and convenience in America and throughout the world but this amenity comes at a great price to the environment. Throughout the entire life cycle of an automobile , carbon emissions and waste are produced. Although most believe that automobiles creates only carbon emissions when in use, the process begins negatively contributing to the environment long before and long after the life of the car. Physiological methods help people cope with the effects of stress by changing the way the body responds to it. With biofeedback the aim is to teach the client how to relax. The person learns how to regulate the symptoms of stress in real life stressful situations. There are 4 steps involved. It can give clients a greater sense of control over themselves as well which can have much longer lasting benefits. Another advantage would be that it has no side effects or harmful addictions attached etc. It is also voluntary and not invasive for example in drug treatment withdrawal symptoms may be distressing. Biofeedback can be used for an unlimited time, as it is not addictive in the way that BZ s (for example) can be (as they are only used for a maximum of four weeks to prevent this) so biofeedback is seen as more of a long term cure of stress. However, biofeedback has the drawback of being extremely costly and time consuming. It needs specialist equipment and expert supervision, although attempts have been made to produce a more accessible therapy by using cards the client would put their thumb on a card and it would measure the stress levels (stressed, tense, normal, calm) etc. Some also argue that the benefits of biofeedback can be achieved from other relaxation techniques and so it is an unnecessary expense. Stalker s titular character s obsession with the the Zone, a paradise like location, resonated with audiences growing dissent with the repressive nature of the Soviet Union, and their desire for that which lay outside its confines. • 12. Karl Popper s Philosophy Of Science When one gets asked, what is science? The answer may seem straightforward: biology, physics, chemistry, etc. However, asking the same question to a philosopher, the answer is completely different. In other words, Philosophers are not asking for a mere list of sciences but, are seeking to answer one specific question: What is it that makes something a science. In further detail, the Philosophy of science is a branch of philosophy concerned with the foundations, methods, and implications of science. Therefore, the three main questions are: what qualify as science, how reliable are scientific theories, and what is the ultimate purpose of science. This discipline overlaps with metaphysics, ontology, and epistemology, for example, when it explores the relationship between science and truth. In addition to these general questions about science as a whole, philosophers of science consider problems that apply to particular sciences (such as biology or physics). In this essay, I will be introducing and discussing Karl popper s philosophy of science and its criticisms. To begin, Karl popper s philosophical view of science is often referred to falsificationism, something to be proven false. This is shown through this example: If Socrates is a god, then Socrates is immortal. Socrates is not immortal. Therefore, Socrates is not a god. In other words, Popper s philosophy of science is that scientific knowledge progresses by a series of conjectures and refutations; these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lamb to the Slaughter, a short story written by Roald Dahl. The story places the reader in a scenario where Mary Maloney kills her husband after he wishes to have a divorce. She does this with a frozen leg of lamb that she was going to prepare for dinner. Mary is either guilty of murder or innocent due to insanity, supported by evidence from the story. Mary should be deemed guilty and responsible for the murder of her husband Patrick because she contained enough sanity to formulate a plan to escape police persecution. First, Mary was able to acknowledge that she had killed Patrick. At the time of the murder she was pregnant with a child, and she had contemplated what the police would do when the baby was born. She began thinking very fast. As the wife of a detective, she knew what the punishment would be. (Dahl 382) The character Mary was aware of the punishment and could deduce that there would be consequences. The legal insanity defense is used properly when the defendant is unaware that they committed the crime or what they had done was wrong or illegal. On the other hand, what about the baby? What were the laws about murderers with unborn children? (Dahl 382) Mary worried about what the future of her baby would be, a trait not found is most diagnosed with a mental illness. In the few short weeks in which he has held office, more than two of every three comments made by President Trump have been reported to be incorrect in some form. The issue is so bad that Trump s counselors have begun using terms like alternative facts in order to mask the outright deception. This problem is not unique to Trump; in fact, many high level politicians have been caught in lies recently. For example, House Speaker Paul Ryan has been accused of being dishonest about certain things relating to Medicare. Derosier CNDV 5311 Lamar University Adlerian Theory Alfred Adler contributed groundbreaking theories to psychology that far surpassed his mentors and paved the way for modern psychology today. Adler was a contemporary of Sigmund Freud at the turn of the last century. Although he had great respect for Freud he felt restricted by Freud s theories that put the cause of human behavior as constructs of biology, and that every person suffered from the same problems. Adler believed that human beings were more than mere repeating patterns physiology. Adler believed that humans created their own behaviors based on their experiences and emotions. This concept has led to an incredible field of study that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His theory was that people can change their own behavior for the better if they can realize what past experiences made them feel inferior, acknowledge those experiences, and learn that they have the power to change themselves and grow (intellectually) from that knowledge. This in turn can motivate them to change their behavior from dysfunctional to successful and thriving within their community. In one counseling session a therapist describes his client as almost selfish to a fault . This selfish behavior is a result of experiences in her life when she needed help from others and it was not available. In turn she learned how to take care of herself and not wait or ask others for help. This behavior makes her very self sufficient but it can affect her relationships negatively. This impacts the trust she has for people, in turn others will not trust her and this is a crucial element in a healthy relationship. Accepting her faults and analyzing them will aid her in forming a plan to change her behavior. Adlerian Therapeutic Techniques The foundation of Adler s therapeutic technique is to get to know his client as an individual with emotions and experiences like no one else. This is accomplished with an extensive interview covering a wide range of topics such as; their first early childhood memories, their birth order in the family, and their relationships with family members. ... Winter (1989) recognises that progress in action research depends upon a researcher s ability to represent the theory itself along with a way of understanding it. Consequently, through the process of analysis I will endeavour to understand and explain the key findings from the data collected. In England children start formal schooling at the age of four. However many children attend nursery prior to starting school, with statistics from the Department for Education stating there were 1,673,130 children under the age of 4 attending early education in 2014 (Department for Education, 2014, p13). Likewise, government agendas persist on viewing early years as a preparation for school, with Elizabeth Truss suggesting increased access to early learning would improve the academic ability of children (BBC, 2014). In contrast, Britain s House of Commons Education Select Committee (2000) proposed that formalised learning could damage learning whilst Tricia David (1998) of the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses suggested that emphasis on formal education before the age of five could result in a sense of failure, leading to long term underachievement and disaffection. Correspondingly Whitebread (2013) suggests that formalised learning should be delayed, similarly to European countries who currently have higher levels of academic achievement and child well being. With families and government agendas seeking early years provision as the stepping stone to school, with the capacity to improve academic success, formalised activities such as reading and writing dominate early years classrooms. The data collected for this research indicates that families within my setting believe that formalised learning is a necessary activity for preparation for school. Comments such as, It would be wonderful to let my child play all day, but what are they going to learn? (Archive 7: Parent 4) implies that play is not deemed part of the school readiness agenda. ... In George Orwell s 1984, a light is shining on the concept of a negative utopia, or dystopia caused by totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is, a form of government in which political authority exercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of lifeВ… and any opposing political and/or cultural expressions are suppressed. Having lived in a time of totalitarianism regime, Orwell had a firsthand account of its horrific lengths and negative affects. Another aspect of Orwell s prophetic novel is the thought of technology. During the time that Orwell wrote 1984, the radio was more comment than the television and computers had not even been considered. Nonetheless, Orwell found a way to include these things in his story. The tele screen could be related to the modern TV. Also, in the book, the control of machinery and sources of information are controlled by computers. Orwell uses technology in this book to show that these things that were made to help man, can lead to the corruptness and downfall of society, much like what is being seen today. Living in a world that continues to make advancements technologically and politically, a book written more than 50 years ago still warns the world of what could happen if government becomes too forceful. Because of George Orwell s strong hatred for totalitarianism and its life dictating qualities, readers can get a taste of the perfect dystopia . Though the people of today have been warned and are afraid of an all controlling government, they continue to allow the concept of 1984 to become more and more real. If people continue to just watch their governments make decisions and not ask questions, they will fall victim to its power. Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966 respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s novel was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning to be seen as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency which resulted in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination faced as a Creole woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors convey significant themes such as racism, genderdisparity and social class can be compared in further detail. Initially, the titles of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding the status of women at the time. Rhys novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This is known for the infamous Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where ships disappear under mysterious circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that characters may be imprisoned in their personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with her racial identity as a white Creole. Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso Sea, which was symbolic of neglect, devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the protagonist of the novella, Antoinette. Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during the 20th Century, where women were often reduced ... Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty. To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right. What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment, record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results could be compared between the two. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fear of the unknown are represented in Radcliffe s gothic novel as the mystery surrounding the fates of other women. Once Emily has found out the truth about the other women, then she is freed of her fears and is able to cope with them. In a very real way she has made the transition to confidence in herself and her own future. This particular brand of gothic novel seems to be an encouragement to women and reassures them. Metaphors and Simile have been a part of the human experience since man began comparing and contrasting things to one another. Used by poets and novelists alike to express comparisons, these elements are extremely useful to the writer. Radcliffe manages to use metaphors to continue and round out the overall tone of the novel. This, too, is evident in the Vol. 2, ch. 5 example. As the landscape changes, she is evoking an implied metaphor stating that experience is constantly changing and that sometimes, if one is lucky, one will suddenly hit upon an inner truthor two, which comes as a result of the constant changing. • 43. The Media Access Control Address 1. Introduction Media Access control address is a permanent/fixed address which is assigned to every hardware device connected to a network (wireless adapter, network interface card etc.) by the hardware manufacturer. Every device on a network has an ip address, IP is an internet protocol which give unique identity to the devices at network layer. IP addresscan be frequently changed. One the other side, MAC addresses are permanent and they work at layer 2 (data link layer). MAC Address is also known as hardware address or physical address of a device. Changing of MAC address may allow the bypassing of access control list of router/servers by hiding the computer/device on a network or allowing it to deceive another network devices. This is called the spoofing of MAC Address. The media address control spoofing does not mean that we can write the new Mac on the chipset of network interface card but the Mac spoofing is the way to change MAC details of physical configuration of the operating system. These techniques are not important per se but rather there is a particular purpose they seek. One of these purposes is persuasion. According to Lester (p. 77): communication is fundamentally and essentially a matter of persuasion, attitude change, behavior modification, and socialization through the transmission of information . Images are an essential part of the visual persuasion, which modern mass media incorporates. As we have observed in our readings this visual persuasion can take different forms in order to be the most effective and to achieve its goal. Lester states that: most information, whether factual or not, is communicated through the mass media. Democrats believe that a person should have the ability to decide whether or not they want to bear a child or get an abortion, thus they are identified as pro choice. Whereas, Republicans more so advocate against the ideas of abortion and contraception, their views are considered pro life. Feminist Margaret Sanger, a key player in creating a contraceptive for women, believes that women should be in control of their own lives. She believes that a woman should not have to be weary with the idea that she may become pregnant every time she participates in sexual intercourse. In comparing both of the main political parties, one may identify Margaret Sanger as a strong pro choice advocate for women. She fought hard and spoke passionately about why she believed that creating this contraceptive would be beneficial. However, towards the height of her campaign for the pill she begins to share some very eugenistic views that may cause many to question the benefits of the pill. ...
