Self-Doubt Analysis
The Philosophy of Self Doubt that Obscures the Beauty of Life
I couldn t sleep at 4:00am, Saturday morning. I woke up early to see the gloomy
morning on the day of my robotics competition. The bland morning, grey and
pessimistic, seemed like a sky of splattered gold paint over a large canvas to me.
Not even my parents were awake, but my roaming had woken them up because I saw
my mother peek her head into the bathroom door as my fingers ran through the strand
of my short hair. Que haces? What are you doing at this time? She inquired in a
scolding, fatigued tone; her eyes squinting due to the bathroom s flooding
luminescence. I couldn t sleep, I replied simply as I slid rivers of brown locks to the
right.
My parents dropped me off at my middle school before 7:00am after starting their
day not long after I had, and the sudden feeling of butterflies in my stomach made
me realize that I would have to wait a while due to my punctuality. I did not wait
long because, soon after, the others had arrived. My teacher, Mr. Moreno, carried
the robot I had worked hours on building, hours of which I fussed over the lack of
materials and choked down screeches every time nothing went ... Show more content

The emptiness inside me was foreign, but I knew that it would not be the last time
I would feel that way. My team s robot could not pass through Phase 1. The distance
of the wheels to the body was too long and the susceptible structure had fallen apart
after one of the judges had carelessly grabbed it. For the first time, I had felt
voiceless when I should have spoken out. The threatening tears that had wanted to
spill became stronger, but I still fought them back. Shaken, I picked up my body with
weakened legs. White noise, the cheers of the others as the competition continues was
distorted. At that point, I began to doubt my
The American Dream Entails Upward Social Mobility
For many, the American Dream entails upward social mobility. For a few, the
dream of increased social status comes true. Throughout my life, I experienced
many changes in my socio economic class. I was born into a working Middle
Class family. Both of my parents graduated from high school but neither attended
college. My father worked the stereotypical nine to five job as a bank teller. My
mother was a stay at home parent raising me along with my two older brothers. We
could have been described as the typical Middle ClassAmerican family. As the term
Middle Class implies, our family was not wealthy, but at the same point, we were
not considered poor. My parents were able to afford a roof over our head, food on
the table, and heat to keep us warm during the cold Wisconsin winters. Our class
status changed when my father began earning more money. Along with the increase
in monetary items came changes to my father s social status. He was suddenly
being offered opportunities that were previously off limits to him. He was
introduced to individuals who in their own right were wealthy and well off. Through
those new personal connections, my father s wealth, power, and prestige increased.
Those three factors are what make up Max Weber s concept of Socio Economic
Status. By reflecting on my own experiences regarding changes in socio economic
status, it is easier to understand the various categories that make up socio economic
status.

The Benefits of Simulated Realities on Scientific Literacy
In their essay, Scientific Habits of Mind in Virtual Worlds, Professor Constance
Steinkuehler and Professor Sean Duncan explore the benefits that result from playing
in simulated realities, and how they impact system based reasoning. The largely
successful massively multiplayer online game, or MMO, World of Warcraft is
specifically analyzed and deconstructed through visual aids such as scatter plots,
forum evaluations, and lists of code to illustrate how the site fosters the growth of
scientific literacy in today s youth. Among this compelling evidence, Steinkuehler and
Duncan rhetorically substantiate their claims ... Show more content on

By stating this unsettling fact, Steinkuehler and Duncan profess a major issue in the
school systems of today. Science class alone is not enough to stimulate proper
retention of scientific learning. There is, however, a surprising solution to this issue:
MMO s. By targeting such a substantial user base, well over ten million subscribers
globally (408), an analysis of a discussion forum was conducted. Among the 2,000
posts in World of Warcraft, Steinkuehler and Duncan found a full set of analytic codes
that can be placed into three categories: Scientific discursive practices, Systems and
model based reasoning, and tacit epistemologies. These posts in the forum were
found to build on the scientific habit of mind, and therefore illustrated Steinkuehler
and Duncan s argument by presenting the evidence that, 86% of the WoW discussion
forums consisted of talk that could be considered social knowledge construction
meaning, the collective development of understanding, often through joint problems
solving and argumentation. (412). Of that percentage, 28% of the posts made
individuals used data or evidence of some form in order to warrant their claims.

Trace the history of the printed newspaper and various types of eras in reporting
the news. Start with the colonial period of print up to and including how printed
news is delivered today with national papers like USA Today. Include and describe
what was the significance of the era of the penny press , jazz journalism , yellow
journalism , and muckraking.
The history of the printed newspaper in the United States has spanned even before the
nations independence. The format and coverage may have changed over the years,
but one principle element has remained the same. That element is the dispersion of
information.
From its humble beginnings during the colonial era in Boston and Philadelphia, the
printed newspaper found interest by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With consolidation an era of concentration began. With fewer companies owning
more they were able to share resources and become more effective in their reporting.
This efficiency carried over with advertising and other sources of income for the
newspapers.
The invention of the Internet took its toll on the newspaper industry. The availability
of news became widely available to a much larger audience. The printed newspaper
at first faced severe cut backs due to advertising teetering off and paid subscriptions
declining. In order to counter these losses the printed newspaper transitioned into the
online newspaper. In addition, with this online newspaper they were able to share
content and essentially cut down on their bottom line cost in production. Unlike the
printed paper and its newshole the online paper is essentially limitless on how much
it can report.
The printed newspaper has been an integral part of American society for many more
years then most realize. Either through its digital distribution on mobile or social
media, it will always be in some form that integral part of how American society is
informed.

Breast Feeding Vs Bottle Feeding Research Paper
Bringing a newborn baby into the world is a miracle from God. However, this
miracle brings with it numerous decisions. For example, one choice is what method
to use to feed the baby. An excellent nutritional start is key to a baby s life long
health. With that being said, many mothers struggle making the decision whether to
breast feed or formula feed. Both choices offer countless pros and cons. Ultimately, it
is a personal assessment mothers must undertake. Two factors to consider when
making the decision on whether to breast feed or formula feed are nutritional benefits
and convenience. New mothers want to make the best choices for their newborns.
How to provide nutritional needs is one of them. One option is to breast feed.
Providing exceptional nutritional benefits in the first 4 months, breast milkis the
perfect food for baby. It provides protection against illnesses, perfect portions of
nutrients, and is easily digested. Not only are nutritional needs important, but breast
feeding also provides convenience. Breast milk is always available. For night
feedings, no bottle preparation is needed. Also, it is not necessary to pack bottles

However, nothing compares to what breast milk can provide for the baby. Breast
feeding is the absolute best choice as far as nutrition. Whereas, formula feeding offers
more convenience, because the mother is not tied down. Ultimately, the decision is a
personal one. Which is more important, nutrition or convenience? Breast feeding not
only offers the best nutrition for the baby, but also provides health benefits for the
mother. For example, it promotes in returning the uterus to pre pregnancy size, lowers
risk of ovarian and breast cancer, and also helps mothers lose the baby weight. Not to
mention, breast milk is free. Having more nutritional benefits, breast feeding out
weighs the convenience of formula
As The Clock Ticks Down Towards The 2017 Nba Trade
Deadline,
As the clock ticks down towards the 2017 NBA trade deadline, teams are preparing
their best offers and looking to swing some deals that will set them up well beyond
this season. There have already been significant moves made, including DeMarcus
Cousins going to New Orleans and Serge Ibaka going to Toronto. While some teams
have made their intentions clear, others remain shrouded in mystery. Here is a
preview of where teams could stand at this year s deadline.
The Obvious Choices:
Buyers: Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio
Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles
Clippers, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans
Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miles, and Monta Ellis could all be on the table and the Pacers could be one of the
most fascinating teams to watch at the deadline.
Denver Nuggets: As mentioned before, the Nuggets have already added Mason
Plumlee and could still add more to their lineup, while also making drastic moves at
the deadline. Names like Wilson Chandler and Emmanuel Mudiay are very much in
play, and the team could be in the market for an upgrade at point guard. Like Indiana,
their situation is very fluid and they could buy and sell at the same time.
Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks have already cleared out Miles Plumlee in exchange
for the more manageable contracts of Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes, and could
still make some selling moves. However, their core is one of the most exciting in
the NBA, and they could seek to cash in some assets for another long term piece. As
of now, the Bucks could stand pat, but may also do some slight dealing on both sides
of the aisle.
The Toss Ups:
Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks are smack in the middle of the playoff hunt, yet there
does not seem to be a clear answer as to what they might do. They already traded
away Kyle Korver, but also appear poised for upgrades. When it comes down to it,
the Hawks will only seek to add a player and take a risk with re signing Paul Millsap
this offseason.
Verdict: Buyer
Chicago Bulls: The Bulls have struggled all season with poor three point shooting,
depth issues, and road woes. However, they are right in the thick of things
Martin Luther King Is A Hero Essay
In the letter, Letter from Birmingham Jail , Martin Luther King Jr. states that one
day the South will recognize its real heros. For Martin Luther King, he is shown to
be a hero because of his criteria and how he matches up with that criteria. As for
King s criteria, a hero needs to be intelligent, inspiring, determined, brave, honest
and decisive. Being intelligent and inspiring is one of King s criteria for being a
hero. For example, Martin Luther King and the leaders of the Alabama Christian
Movement for human rights decided to postpone the program to a date where the
most amount of people will be able to hear it. We decided to schedule our direct
action program for the Easter season, realizing that except for christmas, this is the...

For instance, Martin Luther King is shown being determined because he responds
back to every call for aid/help to achieve his goal of freedom. Like paul, I must
constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid (page 7 paragraph 3). For a hero,
being determined means that you are resisting against the negatives and the
obstacles you come up upon. It proves that the hero is committed and doesn t give
up easily. Arguably the most common and most important criteria of a hero is to be
brave, as Martin Luther King states that some people broke unjust laws to achieve
their goal. I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is
unjust and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse
the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the
highest respect for law (page. 11 paragraph 20). It shows that this individual is
really brave enough to be imprisoned and accept the penalty of whatever law he/she
is willing to break. This fits into King s criteria as a hero must be brave brave to
sacrifice something or face a difficult/tedious task. This shows how being
determined and brave is part of King s criteria for being a
Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along
the way I pushed through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community
development. Many people can benefit by taking this class and learning more about
the health issues within a community. The information can also be carried on and
utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of my learning
experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more
educational to me. The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a
result I would have retained and understood more in this area. Having an
experience professional in the career already attending the class and sharing would
have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of topics
were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It
does help that I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented.
There s always room for more growth while learning more on the topic of health in
communitydevelopment. Things are always changing, growing, and expanding,
including the development of new Technology. I have just started the beginning of
what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to
some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but

The Characteristics Of Generation Y
Before we start talking about Generation Y we need to define who are those people?
When they were born and what are the characteristics of Generation? Looking at
what is commonly referred to as Generation Y might therefore be an insightful way to
discuss how the recent epoch changes to the economic, social, political and
technological context in which individual and society exist. Generation Y is a term
used in the popular press, company research and some academic research.
Organizations have started to recognize that Generation Y is somehow different and
have started to find out how they are different. Although Generation Y is one of the
more popular terms for this generation, there are various other terms and names have

An academic research study on what Generation Y wants from work (Terjesen et
al, 2007) found that they seek employers that invest heavily in training and
development of employees, care about their employees as individuals, present
clear opportunities for long term progression, offer a variety of daily work and
have a dynamic and a forward looking approach to their business. The research also
found that women of Generation Y were interested in a variety of elements to their
jobs, whereas men were mainly interested in salaries. Generation Y seems to value
the quality of working life: they work to live and not live to work (Asthana, 2008;
McCrindle and Hooper, 2008; Reynolds, 2008). They are constantly on through their
use of technologies and mobile devices, which seamlessly integrate previously
separate realms of paid work during the day and private life in their free time. In fact,
spending moments at work telecommunicating via information communication
technologies during their leisure time is something readily done by Generation Y.
However, at the same time, they seem unwilling to sacrifice free time if no

the aftermath of the rebel victory, opposition forces captured and killed Moammar
Gaddafi on 20 October 2011, thus terminating the ICC investigations against him

have remained in contention. The National Transitional Council (NTC), the
temporary governing body of Libya, has appealed the admissibility of ICC

On 11 October 2013, the pre trial chamber judges at the ICC issued their

judges ruled that the Libyan government had not satisfied the requirements necessary
to rule the case inadmissible before the Court. According to an ICC report to the UNC

The application of Internet technologies has been a growing trend in the business
world for nearly a decade. More and more companies are realizing the benefits of
using the web. Web use has morphed from information exchange only to
enhancements for collaboration, customer service and customization. These
applications now lead to increasing profits; cutting costs, minimizing production, and
customer satisfaction in all areas of the manufacturing process. Companies such as

Now with the introduction of e commerce, it has increased the development of
material handling systems. Newly designed planning, automated staging systems and
manufacturing software has made the ordering process itself easier by being sent

Being able to manage the flow of information from the ordering process to the
manufacturing process has also been a huge success of the system. The ability to
keep track of resources necessary for the production of a car and the wants and needs
of the customer is a problem for most companies involved in product manufacturing.
BMW has also allowed its resource suppliers into the production loop. They changed
their information systems both internally and to their suppliers. The data is sent from
individual customer orders directly to the suppliers daily. This provides accurate
information on the needs of the company, and in turn

Employee Engagement and Organizational Success
Leaders also try to achieve the same quality for their own status, which allows them
to pursue greater strength, achieve personal goals and future endeavours. According
to a recent study conducted by Psychometrics Canada a pioneer in research
assessment, has mentioned in one of its report that employee engagement in the
organisation plays a major role in the success of any organisation. Accordingly it
says that the best way to increase the relation is by working out a strategy that builds
positive environment and culture relations between the workers and ensuring a good
leader to fit for the purpose. Leaders in the organisation can try to achieve a better
employee engagement by listening to followers opinions, communicating his vision
with a clarity, providing and developing strategies and solution for the success, and
finally recognising the ability of the followers and praising their contributions.
Thisaspect of leadershipis displayed by general feedback, generating ideas and

example of this leadership quality is described by DAVID J. BOBB(David J B,
2013) in his book saying following servant leadership is very difficult as it is not a
natural talent to anyone. He takes the example of George Washington, though
considered to be a man of high temper and showing excess pride in his capabilities
and qualities during his period as a freedom fighter. As he has foreseen the global

Music And Negative Essay
Music is very important in our society. For example, music is played in movies, on
television shows and commercials, in stores and shops, on the radio and in many
other places. Music can do many things to people. It can affect your mood, work,
and health. Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life.
There s not some trick involved with it. It s pure and it s real. It moves, it heals, it
communicates and does all these incredible things (Petty). Why is music so
significant to people? In an article published by Harvard University, doctors state that
the human brainand nervous system are hard wired to distinguish music from noise
and to respond to rhythmand repetition. Maybe, these facts are the key to
understanding how music benefits human body. Or is music just a placebo? The first
way that music benefits a person is by helping their mood. According to the
Journal of Positive Psychology, people who listen to upbeat music could improve
their moods and boost their happiness by just listening to upbeat music. This may
be why people listen to music as motivation before sporting events or undertaking
stressful events. This study also revealed that even the sad songs can help your
mood. Music with slower rhythm and lyrics reduces people s stress by reminding
them of experiences they ve had in their life. In addition this article states that music
also can be used as therapy because music can manage stress, improve memory and

My Writing Skills Analysis
My Writing Skills There is no perfect person on this earth; therefore every single
human being has flaws. In this essay you will learn about my flaws or weaknesses
and strengths of writing. Although everyone has flaws they also have the
willingness to improve themselves. With that being said, I believe the best way to
address your flaws are to debate on ways you could possibly improve in the weaker
areas. The following paragraphs will introduce you to not only my weaknesses and
my strengths but also the way in which I would like to become more proficient in my
writing. In searching for my weaknesses and strengths I found that the easiest to
identify were my weaknesses. I also realized that I could identify more things I
struggled with rather than excelling at. The biggest weakness I believe that I have
is creating a closing sentence for my paragraphs. When I do create a closing
sentence, they tend to be very boring. Another weakness I believe I have is my
sentence grammar, such as misplacing modifiers, apostrophe usage and the lack of
subject verb agreement. My weaknesses may seem minimal but they hold massive

employing hard work, dedication, determination, and perseverance, significantly
influencing the results becomes increasingly more plausible. The story
demonstrates how perseverance and positive change agents help overcome
obstacles. Rudy overcame a variety of obstacles, challenges, and resistances in
order to accomplish his desired vision. Even from a young age, Rudy dreamed of
playing football for the Fighting Irish football team. While still a young man, later in

identifies various insights into the elements of Rudy s vision, highlights sources

Summary Of Screwtape Letters
In the Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis proposes a dialog between an experienced
devil and a young inexperienced devil. We only get to read letters from the senior,
Screwtape, to the junior, Wormwood. In these letters we overhear how Wormwood
s first assignment is going, what tempting strategies he should try, and what might
happen to him if he fails. Screwtape comes across cordial in all his letters, but just
beneath his tone he seems to dislike his young mentee. In every letter, Screwtape
belittles Wormwood in some way or another, and by the end we hear Screwtape s
outright anger and outrage at Wormwood s failure when his patient dies a Christian.
Lewis style of writing equips me to better recognise Satin s subtle deceptions, and

For example Screwtape tells Wormwood to do everything in his power to keep his
patient from regular communion with God, and to convince the patient that being
busy in life and ministry is an acceptable excuse not to spend regular time in prayer.
If you can get him to rationalize that because he offers short prayers to God
throughout the day, he doesn t need to have a dedicated and disciplined time of
prayer. If you can get him to the point where he tells people he prayed for them,
without actually praying for them, even better. This example tells me that having a
dedicated time to pray is something Satin doesn t want. This is just one of many
instances where I recognise Satan s deception. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the
gradual one the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without
milestones, without signposts,...Your affectionate uncle, Screwtape. This quote
shows Satan s subtle deceptions when Screwtape is telling Wormwood to slowly
bring his patient to sin. I ve seen this happen at times in my life where one month I
was very consistent with devoting time with God in prayer and scripture and then the
next not being as consistent because I began prioritizing other things over
The Importance Of Homelessness In Miami
Miami is full of selfishness, ruthless, and uncaring people. Here people do not care
about others they do not care if you are alive or dead, fine or sick no matter who
you are people ignore others. The study was split in to three categories: caring for the
community, the vulnerable, and the workforce.I would like to talk about caring for
the community, why we talk about Miamiin the world nobody cares and I am sorry
to say maybe we are one of them which is my opinion. These days our relationship
with any body are weaker than ever and the reason is people spend time on social
media websites this is one of the reason people do not care about others. In Miami
more than 70 percent peoples are Hispanic and they may face difficulty in the past in
Polar Bears Will Be Gone
Our White Ice Loving Friends are Disappearing The concerns about the ever rising
sea levels, melting ice caps, and constant warnings about global warming making
their way into everyday news and our lives, it is no surprise that bears inhabiting
the arctic regions are now suffering as a result. The extent of the damage done to
the Polar Bears may mean they ll soon be gone in a scant few years. In the Blink of

Exercise-induced Asthma Essay
Exercise induced asthma is an acute transient airway narrowing that occurs during
and most often after exercise. It is objectively defined as a 10% fall in forced
expiratory volume in the first second from baseline that may be measured up to thirty
minutes following exercise (M M). Exercise induced asthmaoccurs not only in elite
athletes and asthmatics, but it can also be found in non asthmatics. The stimulation
of exercise induced asthma can range anywhere from inhaling allergens to
hyperventilation or intense exercise. The management and prevention of exercise
induced asthma is a series of trials to reduce the effects of prolonged
bronchoconstriction.
In some cases, exercise induced asthma is referred to as exercise induced ... Show

Mechanics
The nose protects the lower airways by filtering, moistening, and heating the inhaled
air. However, breathing through the nose alone cannot cover the oxygen demand,
when elite athletes exercise, as ventilation through the nose cannot exceed 30 L/min.
Therefore, when ventilation exceeds this level through the nose, concomitant
ventilation through the mouth automatically appears. The combined breathing can be
harmful to the lower airways because they are now exposed to air with allergens,
other small particles, and unheated air (M M). Theories
Two main theories have been proposed to explain the bronchoconstriction associated
with hyperventilation and airway cooling in the asthmatic patients: the first attributes
a predominant role to the vagus nerve, whereas the second emphasises the part
played by mediator substance released from mast cells in the airways (EIA EO).
Water loss in the airway triggers exercise induced asthma through the development of
hypertonicity of the liquid at the surface of the airways. As cool and/or dry air is
inhaled, heat is transferred away from the airway mucosa to air passing through the
bronchial tree. When the inhaled cold air is heated, the saturation with water vapor
consequently drops, which results in the evaporation of water from the mucosa, thus
cooling of the respiratory tract. The evaporation of water results in
Foreign Direct Investment And Developing Countries
Foreign direct investment plays a critical role in financing the development of
emerging economies. Foreign direct investment benefits countries through a transfer
of resources in the form of capital, technology, management of resources, creation of
work opportunities, and a positive impact on the country s balance sheet, typically
through an increase in export volumes. These benefits are essential for sustainable
growth and developmentof a country, especially for developing countries. Despite the
important role that foreign direct investmentplays in helping to achieve the
Sustainable Development Goals, many developing countries face challenges in
accessing this source.
Many countries that do have access to foreign direct investment are only given access
in specific areas of business or of the country. Other countries, often those that needs it
most, are overlooked by investors, missing out on this source of finance entirely. In
Indonesia, eighty percent of foreign direct investment are confined to Java where the
country s capital is. Geographically focused approach of foreign direct investment
prevents investors from capturing the full opportunity offered by developing
countries. Resources need to be allocated to match the shifting distribution of each
country s growth. Understanding the priorities of central and local governments as
well as determining how or where these align with business priorities is a tremendous
challenge.

The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction
The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction Aim We is going to investigate
how temperature effects the rate of reaction when we use a Magnesium Ribbon
and dissolve it in Hydrochloric Acid. Different Variables There are four different
variables that effect the rate of reaction, surface area, concentration, temperature
and catalysts. Here is some information on each variable with diagrams. How does
surface area effect rate of reaction? In a substance the rate of reaction will be quicker
if it has a large surface area. However, if it has a small surface area the rate of
reaction is much slower. Rate of Reaction is much faster if the surface area is larger

6) The Bunsen burner will be lit using a match, put on the blue flame and placed
under the beaker. 7) When the temperature reaches 25В°C, on the thermometer (It
shouldn t take long as it is around room temperature, anyway), we will take the test
tube out of the water and place one of the pieces of Magnesium Ribbon in the
Hydrochloric Acid. We will start the stopwatch (a stopwatch gives us very accurate
readings when recording time) as soon as the Magnesium Ribbon hits the
Hydrochloric Acid. 8) When the Magnesium Ribbon has completely disappeared,
we shall stop the stopwatch and record the time it took for the Magnesium Ribbon
to disappear. 9) This process will be repeated for 25В°C, twice. Then we will do
the same experiment for the other temperatures, doing each temperature three
times. The plan/method above is a very good way of carrying out the experiment.
This is because the rate of reaction is effected by temperature. Using the Bunsen
burner makes this plan a good way of carrying out this experiment. As the
Hydrochloric acid will be heated using the blue flame, it will heat up faster so the
results for each temperature can be obtained quickly. Also using a stopwatch makes
the plan a very good way of carrying out the experiment because it is very precise
when recording how long it takes for something to happen. List of equipment Here is

With globalizations, middle class Americans are experiencing a new level of
employment uncertainty, which speaks to the increase in homelessness and food
insecurity. According to our class guest speaker Vic Papale, Americans are faced
with higher domestic food prices, reduced incomes and employment and having
already sold off assets, reduced food consumption and cut spending on essential items
such as health care and education. These families and individuals risk falling deeper
into destitution and the hunger poverty trap. In other words, hunger makes poverty
intergenerational. In terms of employment, we discussed in class how employers
prefer not to employ the undernourished, ill dressed or uneducated. However,
individuals or families that are experiencing consistent food insecurity are often poor

capabilities or speak on behalf of themselves, this population is excluded from the
job market. This is a fact that many politicians, job makers and lawmakers cease to
Summary Of Murnau s The Last Laugh
Friedrich Willhelm (F.W.) Murnau s The Last Laugh (1924) holds a special place
within silent film (Bordwell 2016). It is the film that made Murnau popular with
American audiences, and in turn, its success lead him to move to Hollywood and
eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last Laugh itself isn t a
masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke the
surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory SunriseВё The Last Laughlaments life s
predestined nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the
real with the fanciful and through his use of doors.
From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly
whimsical. We are whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door
into a city, that while appearing to be real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But
Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even has figures moving inside
the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem real. Alas,
the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be
a tool to suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The
Last Laugh. The world Murnau has created is a hectic one where One day you are
preeminent, respected by all, as the opening title announces, and the next you are a
nobody, and before you know it, life has passed you by. This is the case for our
unnamed protagonist (Emil Jannings) who is now

Word Choice In Early Autumn, By Langston Hughes
Blah, blah, blah. Have you ever listened to a boring person speak with
unmeaningful words and because of that you just don t care anymore? Well, that
person OBVIOUSLY doesn t have good word choice. Day to day words flow out
of your mouth, good or not, but sometimes you have to rise above the first level of
that Mario Kart Race Game. Yeah! I see you. Listen up, you NEED to have
incredible words to keep people s eyes open! Surely, if someone is dozing off,
texting, taking selfies, or doing anything that is on trend, that person is NOT
listening. All authors have useful words in their pieces to make sure the readeris
enjoying it and not being bored out of their mind. In the stories with a limited word
amount, flash fiction, you have to excel in your choice of words to keep your
audience reading! Word choice is a main strength that intrigues the reader in the
writing pieces, Popular Mechanics by Raymond Carver, and Early Autumn by
Langston Hughes. Relationships. They are sentimental, but... Show more content on

Whether in Early Autumn when Langston Hughes uses specific words to describe
surroundings, or in Popular Mechanics when pictorial words are needed to display
the scenes in the reader s minds they both use splendid word choice to keep their
readers hooked. Clearly, these passages words are stuck in the audience s brains;
they can t get out because the author s put such an impact on it. Therefore, the
sentences with those depictive words will be remembered and soon after the story
will, too. In life, specific words one uses are critical. Just like when a child is
presenting a project in front of their class, they have to have enthusiasm and non
boring words. If the child is just blabbing on with useless words no one will listen.
But if there is use of exceptional word choice people will definitely look up from that

Tale Of Two Cities Inhumanity Essay
In France, the years between 1789 and 1799 were a time of thoughtless inhumanity
and brutality toward fellow man. These inhumane acts are carried through the by
Revolutionaries and the nobility of France in these years and the years leading up to
the French Revolution. The best illustration of the inhumanity felt and shown during
this time is A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles Dickens. Dickens uses metaphors as
symbols throughout this book to exemplify his theme of thoughtlessness toward
people from other people. Dickens develops these metaphors throughout the novel
and manipulates them to fit different circumstances. He uses every day objects and
ideas and makes them personifications of the Revolution and their unsympathetic
mindsets and agendas. The symbols of the scarecrows and the birds of fine song and
feather, the sea, and the wine represent the theme of inhumanity in Charles Dickens A

The scarecrows are the starving peasants and the birds of fine song and feather are
the lucky nobles. These two were ruthless to one another form the beginning, with
their conflicting interests. The sea and its mighty waves crash up onto the shores
of the nobles and knock down their high horses. The sea is a wild force, and cannot
be contained by human force. The wine is the blood of the Revolution and the
insanity of the people who spilled it. Both the wine and the blood it presents give the
drinker a sense of drunkenness. The inhumanity in A Tale of Two Cities can only be
seen by those who know the future. In the time that the acts of inhumanity take place
they seem like deserved acts, when in reality, they are as malicious and heartless as

Classical Liberalism Vs Modern Conservatism
1.The term Science originated from French basically meaning knowledge . By that
definition, Politics certainly is a Science. Politics is empirical; it evaluates both
quantitative and qualitative data. While many contest that Political Science is not a
science because of the general inability to fully quantify things such as human
decision and public opinion, significant portions also deal with demographics, voting
patterns, and the economy. 2.Modern Liberalism differs from classical liberalism in
how it views the governmental role in the economy and society. Modern Liberalism
advocates for heavy governmental involvement to stimulate the economy and
advance social programs. Classical Liberalism, on the contrary, is more conservative
in nature. Founded primarily by Adam Smith, classical liberalism believed that the
market could regulate itself and it was dangerous and unnecessary for the government
to get involved. The similarities between classical liberalism and modern
conservatism boils down to the role of government. Both do not see the government
as having a significant role in the economy, knowing that a free market could better
and more efficiently regulate itself. 3.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Broken Circle Breakdown By Felix Van Groeningen
Essay
Felix Van Groeningen s The Broken Circle Breakdown continues the long standing
tradition of showcasing graphic sexuality in European cinema. Europe has never been
shy when it comes to nudity or sexual content in their films. In contrast, the United
States has been much more conservative about showing sex on screen until relatively
recently. A filmlike The Broken Circle Breakdown is a good representation of how
Europe has almost always been much more advanced at handling sex on screen than
the United States.
The Broken Circle Breakdown, at its core, chronicles the intense relationship and
marriage between Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) a bluegrass musician, and Elise
(Veerle Baetens) a tattoo artist turned bluegrass singer. Their lovemaking is a
prominent part of the film, and indeed, the two of them share a once in a lifetime if
you re lucky passion [which] is amply consummated (Williams 62 63).
The film is sprinkled with moments of steamy impromptu sex (Williams 62 63)
throughout. During their first sexual encounter, we see different arrays of passion
there s visible thrusting between the two, Didier kisses around Elise s derriere and
licks her breast, and Elise moans quite loudly to boot. Even the next morning, Didier
stands outside in the nude and watches as Elise drives away. A little while later, they
both take an outdoor shower and kiss passionately, pressed together naked. In
addition, during their lovemaking in a pickup truck, we see them in the coitus
College Cost Benefit Analysis
Bernie Sanders, an American politician defines college education as a right, not a
privilege. Society today requires students or those who choose to attend, to pay
perpetually high tuitions in order to receive a higher education (college). Too many,
it undoubtedly is a privilege rather than a right. By means of this, many young people
contradict Sander s statement by skipping to receive a collegeeducationdue to these
apparent tuitions and student expenses (Josephson). Future possible career plans and
speculations are consequently jeopardized. According to College Board, the average
tuition for out of state students attending a public four year college is about $23,890

Investing in tuition free education will establish the diversity and equality amongst
the student body, develop an all around educated society, and ultimately financially
assist those facing the student debt crisis. Generally, universities lack the amount of
diversity and minorities within. Truly, this is a critical influence students needs in
order to enrich the knowledge of one s educational experience. Granting the
opportunity to those who are from low income families would give the same
amount of success despite social rankings within society; therefore, fair chances are
given to all, making it more ethically acceptable. Furthermore, with the overall
increase in attendance of college students, a well rounded education based society is
formed. Within, crime rates and occupational income are directly affected.
Individuals less educated are far more likely to commit crimes as opposed to the
more educated. Financial incomes are generally above high school diploma holders
as compared to college degree holders. Finally, tuition free colleges would easily
assist the millions of students across the nation in trillion dollars of debt; overall
shaping more desirable futures. Therefore, the best way to promote change for tuition
free education must start within local areas. People should show their efforts through
campaigns and peaceful protests within
Clopidogrel Hypersensitivity is an Intricate Phenomenon
Presentation and Diagnosis Clopidogrel hypersensitivity is an intricate
phenomenon. The reaction is complex and has varied pathophysiology resulting in
distinct onset and presentation. Hypersensitivity may manifest as generalized,
localized, or systemic reactions. Evidence suggests that the majority of patients
with hypersensitivity reactions will present with generalized, cutaneous
symptoms (6, 7). These generalized reactions may be an erythematous,
maculopapular rash that is pruritic or urticaria without mucosal involvement (6).
Rashes are typically distributed throughout the trunk and may involve upper and
/or lower extremities (7, 8). Although less frequent than generalized reactions,
localized skin hypersensitivity has also been reported. (7). These reactions are
described as symmetrically appearing rashes localized to the face, palms, neck,
axilla, soles of feet, or back. (7). Finally, systemic hypersensitivity has been
described. This may manifest as generalized urticaria, fever, arthralgia, or
angioedema (7 9). An evaluation of 24 patients with suspected clopidogrel
hypersensitivity described a median onset of hypersensitivity of 6 days (10).
However, the onset of these reactions varies and likely depends on type of
hypersensitivity observed. A review of 62 patients with clopidogrel hypersensitivity
revealed a median onset of approximately 5 days for both generalized and localized
reactions compared to a median time to onset of 1 day for systemic reactions (7).

The Three Most Influential People in Ender s Life In the award winning novel
Ender s Game by Orson Scott Card there are many characters that influence Ender
throughout his travels. Ender is influenced in one way or another by just about
every person he comes into contact with. Most of these influences, however, are
very subtle and do not make a direct or dramatic change in his life. There are three
main people that Ender spends a lot of time with that influence him the most. The
first character that influenced Ender was Peter, his older brother. All throughout
their early childhoods, Peter would force Ender into playing cruel games similar to
cops and robbers or Cowboys and Indians, but this was Buggers and humans. Ender

He was Ender s private teacher once he got to the I.F. Academy. He told Ender that
he was the enemy and never to trust him. Ender never knew when Mazar was going
to turn on him or help him, and this taught Ender to never trust anyone completely,
because of this he became more self reliant and it kept him on his toes. Mazar also
taught Ender all of his knowledge on his defeat of the buggers in the second
invasion. Ender studied classified information and played the simulation game with
his crew, who, as it turned out, were all his good friends from battle school. Then
all of a sudden it switched to actual battles with the buggers with real lives at stake,
but Ender was never told. Then finally, through Mazar s wonderful teachings, Ender
reached the final battle with the Buggers. Ender and his fleet were outnumbered
10,000 to one. Ender thought it was incredibly unfair and thought that Mazar had
programmed the simulation. Also, with people in uniforms watching on, Ender felt
uneasy. Finally he decided that he didn t care what happened and it didn t matter, so
he decided to fly in to the home planet and use the largest and most powerful
weapon. Ender blew up the planet and all of the surrounding ships. At this point
everyone in the room began cheering and Ender finally realized that these
simulations were actual battles in the final invasion of the Bugger home world.
Ender learned from Mazar to do his best under

Example 1: After the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman (see:
Hunt, 1999) Susan J. Forward, a clinical social worker who had held two sessions
with Ms. Simpson in 1992, made unsolicited disclosures regarding her deceased
former client. Ms. Forward commented in public that Ms. Simpson had allegedly
reported experiencing abuse at the hands of O. J. Simpson.
The California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners subsequently barred Ms.

believe that under this code the clinician is required to inform proper authorities. I
believe that Ms. Forward was in violation only because she went to the press.
However in all other cases, I believe that the right to privacy is of fundamental

Poddar had sought psychotherapy from Dr. Moore, psychologist at the university s

Biometrics And The Black Market For Recognition Purposes
Just imagine walking into a GAP clothing store as a device measures a person s
eyes for recognition and then proceeds to deliver custom content on items
previously purchased. In the futuristic sci fi thriller Minority Report a scene,
exactly as described, unfolds. The story was set in Washington D.C. in the year
2054. While the film was filled with hero s, hacker s, and drama, a city wide optical
recognition system was used to identify its citizens. Minority Report gave an
interesting perspective on how biometricsmight work in the future for recognition
purposes. It also sparks the imagination on what other forms of biometrics could be
used to identify individuals. Is a journey to the black market for a dicey eye
transplant in our future?
Biometrics is a term that refers to the broad amassment of various human
characteristics. In computer science, biometrics authentication is used for access and
a form of identification. Biometrics can also be used to survey and identify
individuals in groups. Statistically, biometrics are unique and measurable to only one
individual. When biometrics are used in authentication they can be broken down into
two groups of measurability, physiological characteristics and behavioral
characteristics. Physiological characteristic can be, but are not limited to, Biometrics
that consist of a person s Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), fingerprints, face, hands,
eyes, ears or even odor. The second of the two characteristics, are the behavioral
Fanon Vs Dubois
When reading W.E.B. DuBois and Franz Fanon, I couldn t get rid of the feeling of
dejГ vu. It seemed that I have already encountered these ideas; maybe in a slightly
different shape but I have definitely heard that before. After reflecting on what I
have read, I decided that DuBois concept of double consciousness reminds me of the
concept of double vision that was introduced by post colonial feminists. Thus, when
in class we started to discuss how DuBois and Fanon anticipate the ideas of the
second wave feminism, I felt relieved my intuition didn t let me down and I was very
close to identifying the thoughts I had been introduced to before. It is nearly
impossible to not notice that both DuBois and Friedan use the language of the

Max Weber And His Contributions

Max Weber and His Contributions Throughout the early 1900s, Max Weber was
considered as one of the three founders of sociology, because he had acquired many
ideas that profoundly influenced social theory and social research. For sociology as a
whole, Weber s study of sociology is theoretical historical, because he had the idea
of rationalization based on his observations from the Protestant Work Ethic and
other societies to analyze modern societies. This led to the development of one of
the main theoretical perspectives, known as interactionism; Weber had supported the
view of symbolic interactionism, because his earlier ideas mainly focused on the
individual s viewpoint and experience and how that person would relate to society.
Weber had changed the way sociologists view individuals within this theoretical
perspective, based on his contributing ideas. To start with early life, Karl Emil
Maximilian Weber was born in 1864, in Erfurt, Province of Saxony, Prussia. (Winch
735). His mother, Helene Fallenstein, was part of humanitarian and religious
convictions, and his father, Max WeberSr., was a National Liberal parliamentary
deputy. His wife Marianne Schnitger was a feminist activist. While Weber never paid
attention in school, he read Goethe, which might have had influenced his theorist
ideas and methodology (Winch 735). Later, he engaged in the University of
Heidelberg to study law, then he transferred to the University
The Marketing Strategy Of Countdown Essay
Countdown is one of the market leaders in the FMCG industry in New Zealand
where the customers are changing rapidly. The author has chosen Countdown for the
study as it has a well known history of success in satisfying multicultural customers
in New Zealand and also it is on a continuous look out for the possibilities in growth.
The author has selected two models which are Porters Five Force and Value Chain
and has applied these models on Countdown. Woolworths, Progress Enterprises and
Countdown supermarket s web sites are the key resources for this report.
A thorough study of the IT systems in Countdown supermarket has been made by
various methods such as personal visits to the branches, oral interviews with
Countdown staff and also by studying the resources available on the websites. The
assumption that has been made after reviewing all the available resources is that the
Countdown is still using a legacy mainframe system for their Payroll management
system.
The Author has analysed the company based on the information that has been
gathered and aims to make an IT plan. This IT plan would include current and
proposed IT systems and its processes. The new IT systems may include CRM,
CPFR and web based approach for payroll management.
To enable successful execution of the new IT plans the author plans to move ahead
with the planning on SLA (Service Level Agreement) with third party IT vendors, IT
Security and plan to mitigate risks. The author has prioritized the proposed
Biography Of Martin Luther King s Black Power

Chapter 24 Epilogue pp. 341 348
Many people had imperceptible answers to the questions like, what did it all mean
in the end and what were the accomplishments? Stokely Carmichael wrote a book
called Black Power and in it he wrote about how black people in that time did not
accept segregation. Martin Luther King also made important points in his speeches
about segregation and how during this time black people decided to make a change.
The movement in the Alabama Black Belt lasted the longest and many people do not
acknowledge that fact. Even after all the protests started to fade away from the
headlines, black people in Alabama continued to protest for freedom. Many black
citizens in Alabama began to realize that there were other white people in Alabama
who also wanted to end segregation. In Lowndes County, Alabama, there was a rich
man who owned thousands of acres of land, named Harrell Hammonds.
Hammonds was a probate judge who raised cattle and grew cotton on his farm.
Hammonds was also an aristocratic politician. Many people noticed Hammonds as
being against segregation. Hammonds argued in a court of law that everyone
should be treated equally no matter the color of their skin. Later in his life,
Hammonds also gave his support for black people to be able to get an equal
education as white people.
There was an unhappy ending to Hammonds support to end segregation. Many people
threatened his life and

Van Toller (1994) noted that malodour associated with skin ulceration can lead to
serious psychological problems, ranging from general depression to becoming a
virtual social outcast.
The community nurses had actively encouraged Mrs. Smith to re establish social
interactions with old friends. However, Young (2005) observed that patients can
interpret this type of encouragement as a lack of understanding by nurses of the effect
that their condition is having on their life. Wilkes et al (2003) conducted a qualitative
study on the effect of malodour on nurses and found that adverse feelings such as
nausea were common. However, nurses hide these emotions from their patients to
protect the patients feelings.
The community nurses decided that they needed to talk to Mrs. Smith about the
odour and involve her in selecting a dressing product that was designed to alleviate or
reduce the problem. The assessment identified that the wound was infected with beta
haemolytic streptococci and Staphylococcus aureus and a two week course of
systemic antibiotics was prescribed.
Wound odour is often a complication of bacterial infection and the presence of
infection explained why Mrs. Smith had experienced a worsening of the odour in
recent weeks (Hack, 2003).
Odour is subjective and is difficult to quantify accurately (de Laat et al, 2005). The
wound assessment tool we used incorporates a crude odour tick chart using the

American War Photography Analysis
For as long as mankind has inhabited this earth, there are those who will always seek
to lord over others. With this comes violence, whether that is in defense or comes
from malevolence, and soon thereafter, war. Thousands of years, countless cultures,
religions and ideals, and the one thing they all have in common is war. For most of
the wars fought throughout our known existence, family and friends awaited to hear
from their loved ones who went out to fight, some for years, and when finally news
arrived, it meant the ones who were waited for were not coming home. People were
left with only word of mouth, fractured bits of information of what transpired on the
battlefield. Some would translate their experiences into art from cave paintings...

How Climate Change Affected Canada
Climate change happens when long term weather patterns are refined. It can be
identified in the changes of temperature, winds, precipitation, and other forms of
natural processes. This can occur through many different factors, one being through
human activity. Global warming is one of the main scales used to measure climate
change. For life to be able to continue on Earth, the sun is required. Solar radiation is
reflected back into space, however, small amounts of radiation get trapped in the
Earth s atmosphere, causing a rise of temperature. The atmosphere is composed of
delicate gases, the most important gas being Carbon Dioxide. A main component on
Earth is Carbon, which is released into the atmosphere through many activities, one

Essay On Fruit Firmness

Determination Of Fruit Firmness
Introduction
The development of sensors to measure fruit internal quality variable is one of the
challenges of post harvest technology. Several variables can currently be measured,
including sugar content, firmness and internal disorders.
Fruit quality is related to both internal variables (firmness, sugar content, acid content
and internal effect) and external variables (shape, size, external defects and damage).
Increasing consumer demand for high quality has led to the development of optical,
acoustic, and mechanical sensors that determines this quality.
Fruit firmness is one of the most important quality variables; it is an indirect
measurement of ripeness and its accurate assessment ... Show more content on

Throughout American history, African Americans haven t had too much say in
whether or not they belonged in the United States or not. Slavery without a doubt had
a great impact upon their decisions. However, despite their troubles, African
Americans have paid their dues and have made an impact on our armed forces since
the Revolutionary War. African Americans have fought to preserve the rights for
Americans, as well as having to fight the war within their very own country to gain
the right to fight for their country and their individual freedom.

Some volunteered. Others were drafted. In addition to several all black regiments,
an all black regiment was recruited from Rhode Island. This regiment distinguished
itself in the Battle of Rhode Island on August 29, 1778. Between 1775 to 1781
there weren t any battles without blacks being involved in some way or another.
Black soldiers fought for the colonies at Lexington, Concord, White Plains,
Brandywine, Saratoga, Savannah, and Yorktown. There were two Blacks by the
name of, Prince Whipple and Oliver Cromwell, with Washington when he crossed
the Delaware River on Christmas Day in 1776. Some won recognition and a place in
the history of the War of Independence by their outstanding service, although most
have remained anonymous. Unfortunately despite African Americans contributions
in the war effort and the large amount of dead Blacks, only very few had gained
their freedom. The War for Independence was just the first of a list of wars African
Americans would have a chance to be involved in.
The second American war fought with the assistance of African Americans help was
the War of 1812. As Martin Delany put it, the African American were as ready and
as willing to volunteer in your service as any other . Black soldiers fought the British

The Rate Of Growth And Reproduction Of Tilapia Fish
Fish is my best food which I like to eat most of the time. Tilapia fish is my
preferred kind of food because it is tasty and smile more different than the other
kinds. In this paper, we will talk about the ways of raising Tilapia. The rate of
growth and reproduction of Tilapia fish can be adapted to the environmental factors.
Feeding ways can affect in the fishproducts although it can help in increasing the fish
number. The environment has effect on the sex determination in Tilapiabecause they
can escape form their cage and interact with the wild fish. Finally, the spread of the
cultured fish waste in the lake besides their interaction with the wild fish have effect
on the wild fish health and the humanhealth. According the New York Times,
Tilapia fish which came from the Africa to the world comes to America by two
ways. Tilapia comes from China and from Latin American. Dr. Jeffrey McCrary
said that he tried to create new farming technique for the fish which is different
from the old unregulated tilapia farming. He wanted to create the farm which help
in keeping the water clean because all the environmentalists argue his idea in the
beginning and also help in increasing the number of Tilapia which got squeezed out
among the lakes fishes. The environmentalists said that Tilapia farming damages the
ecosystems in poor countries. He began to test his idea by creating fish cages which
can place in the Tilapia s lake. He found that this kind of fish did not want big meat
Welfare Reform For Drug Test Recipients Essay
Pretend you are in kindergarten again and you have just won your favorite bag of
candy for behaving yourself in class all week, and right when the teacher presents
you with your glorious prize a fellow classmate, which had already been to the
principals twice that week, comes up and asks for a piece. You do not want to give
him a piece because you worked hard for it and he broke the rules so he does not
deserve it, but then he goes to complain to the teacher and she says you have to
share with him. Would you be upset if you worked hard to obey the rules to win a
bag of candy, and then you find out that you could have gotten a piece anyways?
This is exactly how many taxpayers feel about welfare recipients that refuse to take
drug test prior to receiving their welfare checks. Since 1996 there has been a call for
welfare reform to drug test recipients prior to admission, but any attempts have been
unsuccessful because they are viewed as a violation of the fourth amendment, more
harmful for children, and an unnecessary expense. These common fallacies have been
the main arguments leading the anti drug testing campaign, but in the past few years
many taxpayers have grown increasingly tired of their money being given to
undeserving individuals, although there has not been a clear solution to please all
parties. To begin, what is welfare? Welfareinfo.org gives the history and current facts
about welfare. Welfare is a government funded program put in action during the great

  • 2. Self-Doubt Analysis The Philosophy of Self Doubt that Obscures the Beauty of Life I couldn t sleep at 4:00am, Saturday morning. I woke up early to see the gloomy morning on the day of my robotics competition. The bland morning, grey and pessimistic, seemed like a sky of splattered gold paint over a large canvas to me. Not even my parents were awake, but my roaming had woken them up because I saw my mother peek her head into the bathroom door as my fingers ran through the strand of my short hair. Que haces? What are you doing at this time? She inquired in a scolding, fatigued tone; her eyes squinting due to the bathroom s flooding luminescence. I couldn t sleep, I replied simply as I slid rivers of brown locks to the right. My parents dropped me off at my middle school before 7:00am after starting their day not long after I had, and the sudden feeling of butterflies in my stomach made me realize that I would have to wait a while due to my punctuality. I did not wait long because, soon after, the others had arrived. My teacher, Mr. Moreno, carried the robot I had worked hours on building, hours of which I fussed over the lack of materials and choked down screeches every time nothing went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The emptiness inside me was foreign, but I knew that it would not be the last time I would feel that way. My team s robot could not pass through Phase 1. The distance of the wheels to the body was too long and the susceptible structure had fallen apart after one of the judges had carelessly grabbed it. For the first time, I had felt voiceless when I should have spoken out. The threatening tears that had wanted to spill became stronger, but I still fought them back. Shaken, I picked up my body with weakened legs. White noise, the cheers of the others as the competition continues was distorted. At that point, I began to doubt my
  • 3. The American Dream Entails Upward Social Mobility For many, the American Dream entails upward social mobility. For a few, the dream of increased social status comes true. Throughout my life, I experienced many changes in my socio economic class. I was born into a working Middle Class family. Both of my parents graduated from high school but neither attended college. My father worked the stereotypical nine to five job as a bank teller. My mother was a stay at home parent raising me along with my two older brothers. We could have been described as the typical Middle ClassAmerican family. As the term Middle Class implies, our family was not wealthy, but at the same point, we were not considered poor. My parents were able to afford a roof over our head, food on the table, and heat to keep us warm during the cold Wisconsin winters. Our class status changed when my father began earning more money. Along with the increase in monetary items came changes to my father s social status. He was suddenly being offered opportunities that were previously off limits to him. He was introduced to individuals who in their own right were wealthy and well off. Through those new personal connections, my father s wealth, power, and prestige increased. Those three factors are what make up Max Weber s concept of Socio Economic Status. By reflecting on my own experiences regarding changes in socio economic status, it is easier to understand the various categories that make up socio economic status. Today, the Socio Economic System

Scientific Habits Of Mind In Virtual Worlds Summary Melissa Berger Captain Roy English 111 Assessment 1 26 August 2015 The Benefits of Simulated Realities on Scientific Literacy In their essay, Scientific Habits of Mind in Virtual Worlds, Professor Constance Steinkuehler and Professor Sean Duncan explore the benefits that result from playing in simulated realities, and how they impact system based reasoning. The largely successful massively multiplayer online game, or MMO, World of Warcraft is specifically analyzed and deconstructed through visual aids such as scatter plots, forum evaluations, and lists of code to illustrate how the site fosters the growth of scientific literacy in today s youth. Among this compelling evidence, Steinkuehler and Duncan rhetorically substantiate their claims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By stating this unsettling fact, Steinkuehler and Duncan profess a major issue in the school systems of today. Science class alone is not enough to stimulate proper retention of scientific learning. There is, however, a surprising solution to this issue: MMO s. By targeting such a substantial user base, well over ten million subscribers globally (408), an analysis of a discussion forum was conducted. Among the 2,000 posts in World of Warcraft, Steinkuehler and Duncan found a full set of analytic codes that can be placed into three categories: Scientific discursive practices, Systems and model based reasoning, and tacit epistemologies. These posts in the forum were found to build on the scientific habit of mind, and therefore illustrated Steinkuehler and Duncan s argument by presenting the evidence that, 86% of the WoW discussion forums consisted of talk that could be considered social knowledge construction meaning, the collective development of understanding, often through joint problems solving and argumentation. (412). Of that percentage, 28% of the posts made individuals used data or evidence of some form in order to warrant their claims. (412). These statistics are crucial to the argument that online games are a useful asset to foster strategic thinking and scientific literacy as a

Start with the colonial period of print up to and including how printed news is delivered today with national papers like USA Today. Include and describe what was the significance of the era of the penny press , jazz journalism , yellow journalism , and muckraking. The history of the printed newspaper in the United States has spanned even before the nations independence. This efficiency carried over with advertising and other sources of income for the newspapers. The invention of the Internet took its toll on the newspaper industry. The availability of news became widely available to a much larger audience. The printed newspaper at first faced severe cut backs due to advertising teetering off and paid subscriptions declining. In order to counter these losses the printed newspaper transitioned into the online newspaper. In addition, with this online newspaper they were able to share content and essentially cut down on their bottom line cost in production. Unlike the printed paper and its newshole the online paper is essentially limitless on how much it can report. The printed newspaper has been an integral part of American society for many more years then most realize. • 7. As The Clock Ticks Down Towards The 2017 Nba Trade Deadline, As the clock ticks down towards the 2017 NBA trade deadline, teams are preparing their best offers and looking to swing some deals that will set them up well beyond this season. There have already been significant moves made, including DeMarcus Cousins going to New Orleans and Serge Ibaka going to Toronto. While some teams have made their intentions clear, others remain shrouded in mystery. Here is a preview of where teams could stand at this year s deadline. The Obvious Choices: Buyers: Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miles, and Monta Ellis could all be on the table and the Pacers could be one of the most fascinating teams to watch at the deadline. Denver Nuggets: As mentioned before, the Nuggets have already added Mason Plumlee and could still add more to their lineup, while also making drastic moves at the deadline. Names like Wilson Chandler and Emmanuel Mudiay are very much in play, and the team could be in the market for an upgrade at point guard. Like Indiana, their situation is very fluid and they could buy and sell at the same time. Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks have already cleared out Miles Plumlee in exchange for the more manageable contracts of Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes, and could still make some selling moves. However, their core is one of the most exciting in the NBA, and they could seek to cash in some assets for another long term piece. As of now, the Bucks could stand pat, but may also do some slight dealing on both sides of the aisle. The Toss Ups: Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks are smack in the middle of the playoff hunt, yet there does not seem to be a clear answer as to what they might do. They already traded away Kyle Korver, but also appear poised for upgrades. When it comes down to it, the Hawks will only seek to add a player and take a risk with re signing Paul Millsap this offseason. Verdict: Buyer Chicago Bulls: The Bulls have struggled all season with poor three point shooting, depth issues, and road woes. However, they are right in the thick of things
  • 8. Martin Luther King Is A Hero Essay In the letter, Letter from Birmingham Jail , Martin Luther King Jr. states that one day the South will recognize its real heros. For Martin Luther King, he is shown to be a hero because of his criteria and how he matches up with that criteria. As for King s criteria, a hero needs to be intelligent, inspiring, determined, brave, honest and decisive. Being intelligent and inspiring is one of King s criteria for being a hero. For example, Martin Luther King and the leaders of the Alabama Christian Movement for human rights decided to postpone the program to a date where the most amount of people will be able to hear it. For instance, Martin Luther King is shown being determined because he responds back to every call for aid/help to achieve his goal of freedom. Like paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid (page 7 paragraph 3). For a hero, being determined means that you are resisting against the negatives and the obstacles you come up upon. It proves that the hero is committed and doesn t give up easily. Arguably the most common and most important criteria of a hero is to be brave, as Martin Luther King states that some people broke unjust laws to achieve their goal. I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law (page. 11 paragraph 20). It shows that this individual is really brave enough to be imprisoned and accept the penalty of whatever law he/she is willing to break. This fits into King s criteria as a hero must be brave brave to sacrifice something or face a difficult/tedious task. This shows how being determined and brave is part of King s criteria for being a
  • 9. Community Development Reflection I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me. The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more growth while learning more on the topic of health in communitydevelopment. Things are always changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt the need

Looking at what is commonly referred to as Generation Y might therefore be an insightful way to discuss how the recent epoch changes to the economic, social, political and technological context in which individual and society exist. Generation Y is a term used in the popular press, company research and some academic research. Organizations have started to recognize that Generation Y is somehow different and have started to find out how they are different. An academic research study on what Generation Y wants from work (Terjesen et al, 2007) found that they seek employers that invest heavily in training and development of employees, care about their employees as individuals, present clear opportunities for long term progression, offer a variety of daily work and have a dynamic and a forward looking approach to their business. The research also found that women of Generation Y were interested in a variety of elements to their jobs, whereas men were mainly interested in salaries. Generation Y seems to value the quality of working life: they work to live and not live to work (Asthana, 2008; McCrindle and Hooper, 2008; Reynolds, 2008). They are constantly on through their use of technologies and mobile devices, which seamlessly integrate previously separate realms of paid work during the day and private life in their free time. In fact, spending moments at work telecommunicating via information communication technologies during their leisure time is something readily done by Generation Y. However, at the same time, they seem unwilling to sacrifice free time if no meaningful reason can be provided by the

However the cases of Saif al Islam Gaddafi and Abdullah Senussi have remained in contention. The National Transitional Council (NTC), the temporary governing body of Libya, has appealed the admissibility of ICC jurisdiction in the cases against Gaddafi and Senussi in the ICC s pre trial Chamber. On 11 October 2013, the pre trial chamber judges at the ICC issued their determination that the case of Abdullah al Senussi was inadmissible before the Court (Bensouda, 2013). The Libyan government, in other words, have proved that they are willing and able to pursue an investigation against Senussi and the ICC terminated its investigation. However, in the case of Saif al Islam Gaddafi, the pre trial chamber judges ruled that the Libyan government had not satisfied the requirements necessary to rule the case inadmissible before the Court. For example, music is played in movies, on television shows and commercials, in stores and shops, on the radio and in many other places. Music can do many things to people. It can affect your mood, work, and health. Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There s not some trick involved with it. It s pure and it s real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things (Petty). Why is music so significant to people? In an article published by Harvard University, doctors state that the human brainand nervous system are hard wired to distinguish music from noise and to respond to rhythmand repetition. Maybe, these facts are the key to understanding how music benefits human body. Or is music just a placebo? The first way that music benefits a person is by helping their mood. According to the Journal of Positive Psychology, people who listen to upbeat music could improve their moods and boost their happiness by just listening to upbeat music. This may be why people listen to music as motivation before sporting events or undertaking stressful events. This study also revealed that even the sad songs can help your mood. Music with slower rhythm and lyrics reduces people s stress by reminding them of experiences they ve had in their life. In addition this article states that music also can be used as therapy because music can manage stress, improve memory and alleviate

It is objectively defined as a 10% fall in forced expiratory volume in the first second from baseline that may be measured up to thirty minutes following exercise (M M). Exercise induced asthmaoccurs not only in elite athletes and asthmatics, but it can also be found in non asthmatics. The stimulation of exercise induced asthma can range anywhere from inhaling allergens to hyperventilation or intense exercise. The management and prevention of exercise induced asthma is a series of trials to reduce the effects of prolonged bronchoconstriction. In some cases, exercise induced asthma is referred to as exercise induced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mechanics The nose protects the lower airways by filtering, moistening, and heating the inhaled air. However, breathing through the nose alone cannot cover the oxygen demand, when elite athletes exercise, as ventilation through the nose cannot exceed 30 L/min. Therefore, when ventilation exceeds this level through the nose, concomitant ventilation through the mouth automatically appears. The combined breathing can be harmful to the lower airways because they are now exposed to air with allergens, other small particles, and unheated air (M M). Theories Two main theories have been proposed to explain the bronchoconstriction associated with hyperventilation and airway cooling in the asthmatic patients: the first attributes a predominant role to the vagus nerve, whereas the second emphasises the part played by mediator substance released from mast cells in the airways (EIA EO). Water loss in the airway triggers exercise induced asthma through the development of hypertonicity of the liquid at the surface of the airways. As cool and/or dry air is inhaled, heat is transferred away from the airway mucosa to air passing through the bronchial tree. When the inhaled cold air is heated, the saturation with water vapor consequently drops, which results in the evaporation of water from the mucosa, thus cooling of the respiratory tract. The evaporation of water results in

Foreign direct investment benefits countries through a transfer of resources in the form of capital, technology, management of resources, creation of work opportunities, and a positive impact on the country s balance sheet, typically through an increase in export volumes. These benefits are essential for sustainable growth and developmentof a country, especially for developing countries. Despite the important role that foreign direct investmentplays in helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, many developing countries face challenges in accessing this source. Many countries that do have access to foreign direct investment are only given access in specific areas of business or of the country. Other countries, often those that needs it most, are overlooked by investors, missing out on this source of finance entirely. In Indonesia, eighty percent of foreign direct investment are confined to Java where the country s capital is. Geographically focused approach of foreign direct investment prevents investors from capturing the full opportunity offered by developing countries. Resources need to be allocated to match the shifting distribution of each country s growth. It is the film that made Murnau popular with American audiences, and in turn, its success lead him to move to Hollywood and eventually make masterpieces (not to say that The Last Laugh itself isn t a masterpiece), such as Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927). Both films evoke the surreality of life, but unlike the celebratory SunriseВё The Last Laughlaments life s predestined nature. Murnau dramatizes this lamentation through the contrast of the real with the fanciful and through his use of doors. From the first shot, The Last Laugh manages to be both hyper realistic and utterly whimsical. We are whisked down the elevator and out the constantly revolving door into a city, that while appearing to be real at first, is just a painted backdrop. But Murnau spares no expense to fool the audience; he even has figures moving inside the painted towers, which to the untrained eye cause the towers to seem real. Alas, the towers are fake, but these moving figures serve a larger purpose than just to be a tool to suspend the audience s belief. They add to the busy aesthetic of the The Last Laugh. Well, that person OBVIOUSLY doesn t have good word choice. Day to day words flow out of your mouth, good or not, but sometimes you have to rise above the first level of that Mario Kart Race Game. Yeah! I see you. Listen up, you NEED to have incredible words to keep people s eyes open! Surely, if someone is dozing off, texting, taking selfies, or doing anything that is on trend, that person is NOT listening. All authors have useful words in their pieces to make sure the readeris enjoying it and not being bored out of their mind. In the stories with a limited word amount, flash fiction, you have to excel in your choice of words to keep your audience reading! Word choice is a main strength that intrigues the reader in the writing pieces, Popular Mechanics by Raymond Carver, and Early Autumn by Langston Hughes. Relationships. They are sentimental, but... Whether in Early Autumn when Langston Hughes uses specific words to describe surroundings, or in Popular Mechanics when pictorial words are needed to display the scenes in the reader s minds they both use splendid word choice to keep their readers hooked. Therefore, the sentences with those depictive words will be remembered and soon after the story will, too. In life, specific words one uses are critical. Just like when a child is presenting a project in front of their class, they have to have enthusiasm and non boring words. If the child is just blabbing on with useless words no one will listen. • 35. Tale Of Two Cities Inhumanity Essay In France, the years between 1789 and 1799 were a time of thoughtless inhumanity and brutality toward fellow man. These inhumane acts are carried through the by Revolutionaries and the nobility of France in these years and the years leading up to the French Revolution. The best illustration of the inhumanity felt and shown during this time is A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. Dickens uses metaphors as symbols throughout this book to exemplify his theme of thoughtlessness toward people from other people. Dickens develops these metaphors throughout the novel and manipulates them to fit different circumstances. He uses every day objects and ideas and makes them personifications of the Revolution and their unsympathetic mindsets and agendas. The symbols of the scarecrows and the birds of fine song and feather, the sea, and the wine represent the theme of inhumanity in Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities. The wine is the blood of the Revolution and the insanity of the people who spilled it. Both the wine and the blood it presents give the drinker a sense of drunkenness. The inhumanity in A Tale of Two Cities can only be seen by those who know the future. In the time that the acts of inhumanity take place they seem like deserved acts, when in reality, they are as malicious and heartless as murdering your best

Politics is empirical; it evaluates both quantitative and qualitative data. While many contest that Political Science is not a science because of the general inability to fully quantify things such as human decision and public opinion, significant portions also deal with demographics, voting patterns, and the economy. 2.Modern Liberalism differs from classical liberalism in how it views the governmental role in the economy and society. Modern Liberalism advocates for heavy governmental involvement to stimulate the economy and advance social programs. Classical Liberalism, on the contrary, is more conservative in nature. Founded primarily by Adam Smith, classical liberalism believed that the market could regulate itself and it was dangerous and unnecessary for the government to get involved. The similarities between classical liberalism and modern conservatism boils down to the role of government. Both do not see the government as having a significant role in the economy, knowing that a free market could better and more efficiently regulate itself. 3.... A filmlike The Broken Circle Breakdown is a good representation of how Europe has almost always been much more advanced at handling sex on screen than the United States. The Broken Circle Breakdown, at its core, chronicles the intense relationship and marriage between Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) a bluegrass musician, and Elise (Veerle Baetens) a tattoo artist turned bluegrass singer. Their lovemaking is a prominent part of the film, and indeed, the two of them share a once in a lifetime if you re lucky passion [which] is amply consummated (Williams 62 63). The film is sprinkled with moments of steamy impromptu sex (Williams 62 63) throughout. During their first sexual encounter, we see different arrays of passion there s visible thrusting between the two, Didier kisses around Elise s derriere and licks her breast, and Elise moans quite loudly to boot. Even the next morning, Didier stands outside in the nude and watches as Elise drives away. A little while later, they both take an outdoor shower and kiss passionately, pressed together naked. In addition, during their lovemaking in a pickup truck, we see them in the coitus

  • 39. Clopidogrel Hypersensitivity is an Intricate Phenomenon Presentation and Diagnosis Clopidogrel hypersensitivity is an intricate phenomenon. The reaction is complex and has varied pathophysiology resulting in distinct onset and presentation. Hypersensitivity may manifest as generalized, localized, or systemic reactions. Evidence suggests that the majority of patients with hypersensitivity reactions will present with generalized, cutaneous symptoms (6, 7). These generalized reactions may be an erythematous, maculopapular rash that is pruritic or urticaria without mucosal involvement (6). Rashes are typically distributed throughout the trunk and may involve upper and /or lower extremities (7, 8). Although less frequent than generalized reactions, localized skin hypersensitivity has also been reported. (7). These reactions are described as symmetrically appearing rashes localized to the face, palms, neck, axilla, soles of feet, or back. (7). Finally, systemic hypersensitivity has been described. This may manifest as generalized urticaria, fever, arthralgia, or angioedema (7 9). An evaluation of 24 patients with suspected clopidogrel hypersensitivity described a median onset of hypersensitivity of 6 days (10). However, the onset of these reactions varies and likely depends on type of hypersensitivity observed. A review of 62 patients with clopidogrel hypersensitivity revealed a median onset of approximately 5 days for both generalized and localized reactions compared to a median time to onset of 1 day for systemic reactions (7).

Max Weber And His Contributions Phala Monte Ms. Berner SYG 2000 01Z 7 June 2015 Max Weber and His Contributions Throughout the early 1900s, Max Weber was considered as one of the three founders of sociology, because he had acquired many ideas that profoundly influenced social theory and social research. For sociology as a whole, Weber s study of sociology is theoretical historical, because he had the idea of rationalization based on his observations from the Protestant Work Ethic and other societies to analyze modern societies. This led to the development of one of the main theoretical perspectives, known as interactionism; Weber had supported the view of symbolic interactionism, because his earlier ideas mainly focused on the individual s viewpoint and experience and how that person would relate to society. Weber had changed the way sociologists view individuals within this theoretical perspective, based on his contributing ideas. To start with early life, Karl Emil Maximilian Weber was born in 1864, in Erfurt, Province of Saxony, Prussia. (Winch 735). His mother, Helene Fallenstein, was part of humanitarian and religious convictions, and his father, Max WeberSr., was a National Liberal parliamentary deputy. His wife Marianne Schnitger was a feminist activist. While Weber never paid attention in school, he read Goethe, which might have had influenced his theorist ideas and methodology (Winch 735). Later, he engaged in the University of Heidelberg to study law, then he transferred to the University
