I am not a part of the millennial generation, I was born during the baby boomer s
generation. Yet, I do have a daughter born in the millennial generation. The

Lewis Carroll was a professor of logic, writing among his well known works of
fiction, treatises on the subject of logic and even a textbook, Symbolic Logic. It is
the function of logic to classify and formulate fallacious forms of argument as well
as valid ones. (Burks 367) So is it some of the functions of Carroll s tales of Alice s
Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Presenting different
puzzles, riddles, or what appears to be on the surface nonsense, Carroll in these
books present many questions of logic and indirectly their solutions, challenging the

Carroll may have chosen to use this particular example to demonstrate a fallacy due
to the fact that the reader already knows that Alice is not a serpent, leaving it to logic
to prove why.
Another fallacy is presented in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland at the mad tea
party. On the two propositions I say what I mean and I mean what I say, (Carroll A/T
61) Alice concludes equivalence, applying the symbolic logic rule of conversion.
Translated into a form which can be applied, the first proposition becomes All I say
is what I mean , notated All S is M , by definition a universal proposition. The
second, assumedly a conversion of the first, is translated All I mean is what I say and
is notated All M is S , also a universal proposition. However, the conversion is
invalid, because a universal proposition converts to a particular proposition. The
valid conversion would be All S is M to Some M is S , or Some of what I mean is

clear that the two propositions are not necessarily equivalent, and the following

A cochlear implant does not restore normal hearing, but can give a deaf person a
useful representation of sounds in the environment and in some help with
understanding speech. The Cochlear implant consists of external components that
usually are behind the ear and internal components that are surgically implanted
under the skin these two parts work together to allow the user to perceive sound.
The external components include a microphone, a speech processor, and a
transmitter. The microphone is located at the top of the speech processor, which
resembles a behind the ear hearing aid. It picks up sounds from the environment and
transmits them to the speech processor. The speech processor can either look like
the behind the ear hearing aid or be a small box worn in a chest pocket. It is a
computer that analyzes, digitizes, and arranges the sound signals picked up by the
microphone and sends them to the transmitter. The transmitter is a small magnetic
disc or circle coil worn on the head just behind the ear it receives signals from the
speech processor and convert them into electric coded signals, sending them to the
receiver/ stimulator implanted just under the skin using a special radio frequency.
The internal components include the receiver/ stimulator and the electrode array. The
receiver/stimulator decodes the electrical signals from the transmitter and sends a
corresponding pattern of rapid, tiny electrical pulses to electrodes on the electrode
array that has been surgically inserted and winds through the cochlea. The electrical
pulses stimulate the fibers of the auditory nerve where the brain categorizes the

the infinite, philosophers speculated on what happens when a space was divided into
infinite parts. Parmenides and Zeno created theories, and paradoxes to prove that
infinite divisibility was so significant that the universe is in a constant, unchanging
state, and using that to show that motion cannot exist. Aristotle and other
philosophers critiqued these ideas by defining various grammatical forms of the term
