My Favorite Season Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of my favorite season might initially seem like a straightforward
task, given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of the chosen
season and effectively conveying one's sentiments can prove to be a more challenging endeavor
than anticipated.
Firstly, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions that might make the
essay appear formulaic. Expressing personal preferences in a way that resonates with readers and
transcends the commonplace requires a thoughtful approach to language and expression.
Furthermore, the task demands a careful balance between subjectivity and objectivity. While the
essay is inherently personal, it should also engage the reader by offering insights or details that
are relatable and evoke a shared experience. Striking this balance can be a delicate process, as it
involves navigating the fine line between self-expression and universality.
Additionally, organizing the essay effectively is crucial. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas,
transitioning smoothly between different aspects of the chosen season, and maintaining
coherence throughout the narrative can be challenging. The writer must consider the overall
structure of the essay, integrating personal anecdotes, sensory details, and reflections seamlessly.
Another hurdle is the challenge of avoiding monotony. Describing a favorite season may seem
limited in scope, but the writer must find creative ways to captivate the reader's interest and
maintain engagement throughout the essay. This entails exploring various facets of the season,
such as its impact on mood, activities, or even its symbolic significance.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of one's favorite season may seem deceptively
simple, the process involves overcoming multiple challenges. Crafting a unique and compelling
narrative requires a blend of creativity, introspection, and effective communication skills.
Ultimately, the difficulty lies in transforming a seemingly mundane topic into a captivating piece
that resonates with readers.

Wagon Train Leader Analysis
After we got done talking individually we talked as a group about setting up our
wagon train. The first thing about the wagon train the we discussed was that thing
we will be gathering together like medicine just in case someone gets sick on the
trail. So the medicines that we gathered were sage, willow bark, bee pollen, red
clover, and beet root. The other thing that we talked about was who is going to be
our wagon train leader. After we thought about what type of things would make a
good leader like someone that is responsible for most of the decisions on the trail,
someone that can tell when to start moving and when to stop moving for the day, and
someone that can find somewhere nice to camp for the night. So after all of that we

1984 Technology Compared To Today
Technology is a wonderful thing, but with grate power comes grater responsibility.
The technology that we cant live with out, could be used against us just like in the
book 1984. Every day people use some kind of social network, email, cell phones,
computers. all most every thing is on camera. 1984 is similar to modern day
society in many ways such control, fear, and rebellion. every day are reality is
becoming more and more like George Orwell s 1984, Telescreens, Big brother (all

being used today. The Telescreens in 1984 are looking in to EVERY living room
like a security camera. They cant be shut off. Telescreens are to prevent anyone in his

Speech to Persuade for Travel Essay
Planning Your Vacation INTRODUCTION Imagine getting away from the
monotony of your everyday life. You can lie on the beach sipping a cool drink
miles away from your worries of getting a paper done or helping a customer at
work. You can be on top of a mountain overlooking beautiful lands that are different
from your own backyard. Half of the class has taken a vacation less than five times
in their lifetimes, but let s face that most of those probably included those little
family vacations to Disneyland. But, all of you said that you planned to travel
someday. So, why not do it sooner than later? One of the reasons for not traveling
that many of you put is not having time because of school or work. Also, one of your
major concerns is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gang Analysis
While there is no one definition, criminologists have agreed to define gangs via six
characteristics that are expected to make up a gang. A self formed association of
peers is the first characteristic of a gang, it includes a group of peers who choose to
form up to acquire what they otherwise couldn t without the gangs formation.
Secondly, gangs are bound by mutual interests that they strive for together. Third, well
developed lines of authority and other organizational features with clear distinctions
between leaders and members and their different roles. Next, is working together as a
group to achieve a specific purpose and be successful without being caught.
Penultimately, gangs involve criminal activity, committing crimes and engaging in
delinquency. Lastly, gangs control a particular territory as their own as a way to
show dominance and increase in power.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A traditional gang has regenerated for decades; therefore, it is old and big with a wide
age range. Examples of traditional gangs are the Crips and Bloods, two of the most
well known and territorial gangs in the nation. Due to their age and massive
territories, traditional gangs tend to have cliques/subgroups inside the gang.
Traditional gangs are highly structured and are kept in line by leaders as well as
clearly identified rules and punishments. Meanwhile, compressed gangs have a
narrow age range with most gang members being adolescents. Compressed gangs
are also smaller than traditional gangs with only 50 to 100 gang members.
Compressed gangs also lack the age and experience of traditional gangs but can
eventually achieve traditional status if they don t break apart or

Medicine is an always evolving field, and continues to grow in the pursuit of people
health benefit. As time has passed better research studies, discoveries, treatments and
improvement of patient outcomes has been the pride of the medical field. However;
despite all the improvements in medical advancement, preventable medical errors
have become a major problem in the field. About a decade ago, the Institute of
Medicine (IOM) investigated and created the report To Err Is Human: Building a
Safer Health System, in that report the IOM came to the conclusion that
approximately 98,000 people has died yearly in the United States as a consequence of
an preventable medical error (RWJF, 2011). Some of these errors are caused
Analysis Of The Help By Kk Stockett
Sometimes the actions of one individual can enormously impact on how society
sees itself. 1960s based film The Help written by K. Stockett and directed by T.
Taylor tells a story about the life and social context of Jackson Mississippi in the
1900s. Stockett wrote with a purpose to inform and entertain through a message of
equality and self awareness. The target audience was influenced to think that a person
is a person who deserves respect and equality no matter their race, gender and or
beliefs. This powerful message was communicated from the point of view and
significance of the housemaid Aibileen Clark through intensive characterisation and a
unique script. Stockett and Taylor successfully explored the theme of justice and took
their audience on a journey to feel hatred and shame towards the white, but proudness
and joy for the African American women as their stories and generosity were released
into the Mississippi community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they know the inspirational and powerful stories the courageously different women
held within themselves. Stockett conversed a successful message as the strengths and
dedication which the African American women held within themselves were
exposed. The Help earnt respect and esteem as the white took a look at themselves
and their actions when being publically humiliated though a
Smith vs. Marx

Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison
Modern economic society can be described as a combination of certain points from
several theories combined into one. Changing dynamics and economic needs of
nations has spawned a development of various, and contrasting, economic systems
throughout the world. Perhaps the two most contrasting philosophies seen in
existence today are that of capitalism and communism. The two philosophers most
notably recognized for their views on these economic systems are Adam Smith and
Karl Marx. This paper will identify several fundamental aspects of economic
philosophy as described by Smith and Marx, and will compare and contrast the views
of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smith believed that self, self interest, and self determination, all were mechanisms
where individuals are motivated to gain wealth and power for individual gain and
group gain. Smith believed that В‘self is a matrix of reason and passion (Levine,
1998). Furthermore, Smith believed that sympathy leads to empathy, and our
individual self determination leads to accumulation of wealth that benefits others as
well as us (Levine, 1998). Examples of this concept are evident in our current
economic society today. We see Bill Gates and Microsoft providing technology to
communicate more efficiently, Henry Ford s posterity changing the transportation
market, and many others who impact man with their accumulation of wealth.
The simplistic perception of capitalist society varies greatly among Smith and
Marx. Smith believed that capitalism is a mechanism designed to curb man s
selfishness and put it to work for the general good of all (Baumol, 1976).
Conversely, Marx believed that capitalism is based on neither good nor evil, but a
product of historical circumstances or experience (Baumol, 1976). Marx also
believed that the law of motion in capitalism frustrates, rather than facilitates, the
individual ends (wealth). Marx believed that wealth divides capitalists by class, and
that workers must develop in a universal class (Levine, 1998). Marx also disagreed
with Smith in believing that production must cease to be a labor process if it

During our audit of your financial statements, my firm reviewed that your current
internal controls over the cash admission fees are weak and leads to numerous
exposures and possibilities to the loss of the cash received from the members. It is
apparent that there is no controls to confirm whether the entrance admission fees

important for the board of directors of the Local Museum to impose stricter internal

According to the White Paper on Local Government, local authorities have the
following responsibilities in terms of their obligation to economic development:
в—ЏProvide marketing and investment support in order to attract potential support to
their locality.

Prostate Cancer In Family
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western
developed countries and worldwide (Ferlay 2008). It is a cancer that is only limited
to males, as only males have prostate glands. The exact etiology is still unknown;
however, it is thought to be a multifactorial disease with inherited genetics playing a
major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people with fathers and brothers with prostate
cancerare at increased risk for developing it themselves. Other male relatives have
also shown a linkage, especially if the relative was diagnosed young (Al Olama AA
2014). This report discusses how prostate canceraggregates in family, via the analyses

These studies compare allele/genotype frequencies of SNPs between population
cases and controls. The low penetrance genes of prostate cancer found are the
following: Amundadottir and colleagues found a loci at 8q24 (Amundadottir
2006) with the strongest associated SNP as rs1447295 with a relative risk (RR) for
prostate cancer estimated at 1.72. This finding was later corroborated with the
results of the first two GWAS of prostate cancer in May 2007 (Amundadottir 2006
Gudmundsson 2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs across
the genome in cases and controls of European origin nested from the Cancer
Genetic Markers of Susceptibility (Gudmundsson 2007). Yeager and colleagues
confirmed the prostate cancer association with rs1447295 and identified another
independent association at 8q24 (rs6983267). The estimated RRs were 1.26 and
1.58 for heterozygous and homozygous carriers, respectively (Yeager 2007).
Gudmundsson and colleagues identified another new prostate cancer association at
8q24 (rs16901979). The estimated RR was 1.79 (Gudmundsson 2007). Two
independent loci at 17q12 and 17q24 were also found (Gudmundsson 2007).
Duggan and colleagues found one locus at 9q33 (Duggan 2007). Thomas and
colleagues found four novel loci at 7p15, 10q11, 10q26 and 11q13 (Thomas 2008).
Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc.
Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between
Marvel Studios and DC. Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top
in Superhero creation. However, there s always the question of which one is
better. There are two teams, Marvel s Avengers and DC s Justice League. Each
team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would
come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who
would win based on the heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle
between the two groups would happen we split the two teams into six different
pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a similar skill set or
power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each
character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero
against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based
solely on the skills of each character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams
were to fight against each other together.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Conserve today, to create a better tomorrow. Conservation is needed to protect,
improve, and use our natural resources wisely, so we can have the greatest
economic value for the present and future. As citizens of Southwest, Kansas, it is
our duty to conserve water for the current and future use of agriculture,
municipalities, oil, and gas fields. My family and I have lived on the Cimarron
River for the past 20 years. My parents drilled their own house well in 1992. Today,
the water level in our house well is marginal, and will only last ten more years
before we have to drill deeper. As our water is non renewable, we may not find
anything when we do drill deeper. It would be devastating to think my family
would have to move from Southwest, Kansas. In the near future, we may find that
water is priced as high as gasoline or even gold. Without water we will not have
people around to plant and harvest crops much less water those plants. It is a
vicious cycle and drastic changes need to be made now. In order to fix this
problem, we must conserve water. The consequences of not having use of the
Ogallala aquifer for the agricultural, municipal, oil, and gas industries. Agriculture.
Lack of water results in a lack of corn, which would drive up the cost of beef, pork,
and milk. Commercial livestock facilities use tens of thousands of gallons a day. A
feedlot or dairy having 1,000 head of cattle consumes 10,000 gallons of water per
day; that amounts to 70,000 gallons
Incident Command System Case Study
Revere is a city in Massachusetts, found in Suffolk County. located approximately 5
miles from downtown Boston. With a population a little over 53,000. It is important
for firefighters to understand they must be prepared to respond quickly, efficiently
and safely to tornadoes. There are many things to take in consideration when it comes
to a city such as Revere with a large population.
The agencies needed to effectively manage a post tornado response are the very same
agencies needed within the Incident Command System (ICS). Each of these agencies
will play a crucial role in tornado damage mitigation and victim assistance.
The Fire Department will be used to rescue trapped victims and execute fire
suppression. Since the fire department is normally better experienced in ICS, it will
be crucial in assisting to establish the command system. Wildland fire apparatus,
such as brush trucks and command vehicles, which are habitually equipped with

This is not to diminish their capabilities, but rather to maximize them. There will
only be a limited number of ambulances capable of moving patients from the scene
to awaiting hospitals. If EMS personnel become too engaged in the rescue or

transport them. Another way to look at this: EMS personnel are treatment/transport
experts. First responders and basic EMT s from other participating agencies, like the
fire department are capable of patient triage, which frees up the treatment experts to
do what they do best. Also, many private EMS providers do not provide their

The purpose of this experiment was to prepare azo dyes using the combinatorial
approach to show the principles combinatorial chemistry. Using combinatorial
synthesis, an array of chemicals can be synthesized by using a parallel synthesis to
identify potentially valuable compounds. This electrophilic aromatic substitution
reaction involved multiple steps to complete, however, no major techniques were
used; only the use of a hot place and an ice bath. The specific azo dyesproduced in
this experiment used the coupling partners 1 naphthol and 2 naphthol with 3
aminobenzenesulfonic acid. The azo dyefor the meta reaction of 1 naphthol with 3

Less energy is required to raise the energy levels of aromatic azo compounds with
less conjugation and therefor, less high energy waves are absorbed and the dye
appears increasingly blue/black.
Figure 1: Conjugation levels of various common aromatic azo compounds. As a class,
we were able to compare and contrast the colors of the aromatic azo compounds from
several different coupling partners as well as different substitution patterns for each
(i.e. ortho, para, meta). This type of synthesizing molecules to create an array of
potentially useful compounds is known as combinational chemistry. In combinatorial
synthesis, when using a compound with multiple points of diversity, or R groups
which can be substituted, a substantial number of possible structures can be found
depending on the number of substituents utilized. Laboratories can use automated
technologies to perform these types of reactions on an industrial scale but scientists
can also utilize these methods to synthesize and compare a select few molecules [2].
More specifically, the type of combinatorial synthesis utilized by our lab is known as
parallel synthesis . In parallel synthesis, a number of reactants are available to react
individually with a number of substrates which produces a substantial number of
unique and potentially useful compounds. One way of organizing the information
about these reactions is to create a table with the reactants

struck while he was waiting for a train in 1945. His book was created on the single
thought, What would happen if it were possible to increase a person s intelligence?
Fifteen years later, the thought grew into a novella which was published in the

Comparison Of The Dictatorship Of Big Brother And The...
The dictatorship of Big Brother and the American government, both use similar ways
to monitor their citizens, but they have different reasons for it. Big Brother wants to
closely monitor his citizens so they are obedient by fear and the American
government watches their citizens to protect them and their rights. They do this
through televisions, spies and surveillancecameras. In the beginning of the novel
1984, the reader is introduced to how the governmentunder the dictatorship of Big
Brother is administrated as well as how it runs its citizens. Not only are the people of
Oceania suppressed, but they are also audited through whatever means deemed
necessary by the government. They are even watched through their televisions.
Because of this the main character, Winston Smith, placed his television on a wall in
his house so Winston was able to remain outside the range of the telescreen, so far as
sight went. This is where Winston writes his qualms with the government down in a
diary. Furthermore, the CIA, has been said to have the capacity to break into our

It is imperative to understand the key performance indicators (KPIs) in order to
evaluate the performance of SEM. The main KPIs we need to consider in this case
are: Engine Click Through Rate (CTR), Transaction Conversion Rate (TCR) and
Return on Ad dollar Spent (ROA). The Engine Click Through Rate indicates the
percentage of visitors who actually click the ad and it measures the effectives of the
ad campaign. Transaction Conversion Rate tells how many clicks are converted into
actual transactions. A higher Transaction Conversion Rate indicates higher revenue.
ROA indicates the revenue generated by the investment on the ad. A high ROA
means the ad campaign is successful.
Based on the data provided, I have constructed a Pivot table to examine the KPIs of
different publishers. From the table, we can see that the KPIs vary significantly
among the publishers. For example, Yahoo stands out as the most efficient
publisher, with the lowest Cost Per Click and the highest Revenue Per Booking
yielding by far the highest ROA. Overture US has a very low TCR of 9.49%
compared to other publishers with two or three digit TCR. Furthermore, Engine
Click Through Rate and ROA vary in different types of campaigns and Keyword
Groups. For example, Business Class in MSN US has a zero CTR, which means the
campaign is unsuccessful. Air France Brand and Air France Website in the Keyword
Group account for a significant amount of positive ROA across

Oh gosh, it s been years since I ve seen the movie (didn t read the play).
Okay, Juror #3 is the angry father, and Juror #8 is the guy who stands alone in the
INNOCENT vote, right?
I suspect the similarities are easier to find by reading the play because the movie
really shows their contrasts. There is one similarity in that when they really believe
something, they are passionate about their cause.

Technology And Religion
Technology surrounds our daily lives, so much so we have grown numb to the
idea of ever not having access to it. However, people have become more aware of
the use of technology and in some cases have tried eliminating it from their lives as
a whole. This method seems flawless at first, but technology has become so
integrated into our communities that by disconnecting from technology, we also
disconnect from our community. This integration has even been made in the
church, which has allowed access to services that were not ever possible before. By
allowing the church and its members to modernize, we allow its members to grow in
numbers, and for their members to have access to ways in which to grow in their
faith anywhere they go. So for those... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When dealing with technology in the church, we must realize that it is not always
bad, and by integrating it into our services and daily lives is okay. We must become
open to this technological world, and allow it access to make our lives easier. It
allows for spiritual growth both inside and outside of the church. The simplicity of
this allows others to want to join the church which is needed. So for those reasons, we
should allow our community to integrate technology inside and outside of church
The Caste System Of India
The Caste System
As children grow up in the United States, they are often told they can do whatever
they want when they are an adult. They are often told to reach for the stars and to
chase their dreams. In India however, this was not the case. India followed what is
known as a caste system. A castesystem does not allow young children the fantasy of
becoming whoever they want to become, but instead their future is born when they
are. The word caste was first coined by Portuguese traders in the 16th century and
translates to race. The original caste system in India was developed more than 3,000
years ago and in some instances, still continues today. (Funk Wagnalls 2016) It was
created by Aryan priests who had separated society into four different categories.
At the top of the list was Brahmans (priests), next were the Kshatriyas (warriors),
then came the Vaisyas (farmers and merchants), and lastly was the Sudras. The
Sudras were composed of servants and laborers who were to work for the other
three castes. Even worse than being a Sudra though, was being a member of the
Harijans, commonly known as the Untouchables. This group was composed of the
Dravidians who were native to India and shunned for religious or social sins from
the other classes they originally came from. All formed by the priests, this system of
hierarchy was created and made part of the Hindu religious law (Funk Wagnalls
2016). The creation of the caste system came with many laws. For instance,
Faraday
According to the author of this obituary, what aspects of Faraday s life and work
contributed to his reputation? How does the picture presented in the obituary
compare to the picture presented in Book 1, Chapter 4? There are two questions to
answer for this TMA. To answer the first question one needs to know the definition
of Reputation: the estimation in which a person or thing is generally held;
opinion,(E. Dictionary, 2006). It is also necessary to know what in life and work
contributed to his reputation. The second question, one needs to understand what it
means to Compare: to regard or represent as analogues or similar; liken,
(E.Dictionary, 2006). It is also necessary to examine and compare the two pictures.

The following statement would indicate faraday s reputation in popularity,
Faraday s lectures were so popular that they had to have one way traffic near
Albemarle street, (Falconer, DVD, 2008). It is therefore a tempting thought that
Faraday was an early pioneer in teaching methods and would not look out of place
in schools and television today. However, chapter four comments about other
lecturers development of similar styles of teaching, or performing to entertain the
audience, (Falconer,James, 2008). Therefore, one can only imagine that there was
much competition and that Faraday was aware of that and would encourage him
to find new ways to attract the audience, which in many ways is like a competition
between television networks today. Dr Falconer, suggested in the DVD that
Faraday had had elocution lessons it was a realisation that he must have been
conscience of how he sounded to other lecturers and this was probable because of
his poorer background and would prove his need to better his performance for his
reputation, (Falconer, DVD, 2008). The comparison between the passage in the
assignment book and the picture portrayed in chapter four are of a very similar view
of who and what Faraday was. These achieve the impression of the general public
seeing Faraday, as a conjurer, or a
Aristotle s Ethical Theory Of Ethics Essay
Introduction
Definition of Ethics
Ethics is a branch of philosophy that deals with moral startdards and virtues of
human beings. Ethics has to do with what is good or bad. It can be summed as a
method by which we categorize our values and persue them.
Aristotle s Ethical Theory
Aristotles philosophical expanation of ethics was an attempt to offer a rational
response to the question of how humans should best live. Aristotle defined ethics as
guiding morals and principles that construes humans towards living a better,
fullfilled life as a result of being prudence by applying practical wisdom in decision
making process. The main objective of this theoretical concept was to seek an
answer on the quaestion of how best to live or living a fulfilled life to the extremest
(Hughes, Gerald J. 2001).
According to Aristotle, happiness is;
Happiness is the ultimate end and purpose of human existence
Happiness is not pleasure, nor is it virtue. It is the exercise of virtue.
Happiness cannot be achieved until the end of one s life. Hence it is a goal and not a
temporary state.
Happiness is the perfection of human nature. Since man is a rational animal, human
happiness depends on the exercise of his reason.
Happiness depends on acquiring a moral character, where one displays the virtues of
courage, generosity, justice, friendship, and citizenship in one s life. These virtues
involve striking a balance or mean between an excess and a deficiency.
Happiness requires

Difference Between Social And Social Psychology
Social Psychology and Multicultural Psychology Paper
i.Define social psychology.
Social psychology is the science that aims to determine how people think about,
relate to, feel about, and influence one another. Social psychology is a branch of
study on social influence, how individuals have an influence on one another. Social
influence is noted to affect trivial behaviours, such as making paper airplanes in
class, as well as important behaviour, such as giving in to majority opinion over one
s judgement. It is an attempt to understand and lay down how thought, behaviour,
feeling of a person is affected by the actual, implied, imagined, presence of other
people.

For example, a person bending to the majority people s decision over one s
judgment on an issue is a social influence by the presence of others. Second, the
phrase actual presence of others implies a physical appearance in the place to
influence thought or feelings. Imagined presence makes people regulate their
behaviour according to the reactions that they imagine people will give about the
behaviour. The implied presence is demonstrated by the people automatically
obeying social artefacts, such as streetlights, or other objects such as a black, may
imply the presence of a person.
ii.Describe the primary research strategies used in social psychology and give an
example of each. There are three different types of primary research strategies that
can be used with social psychology. They are descriptive, experimental, and
correlation research methods. The research methods differ in the kind of hypothesis
each investigates, and the issues it raise.

Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderlos Laclos wrote what was one of the most
scandalous writings of his time. He was born October 18th 1741 and died
September 5th, 1803 at the age of 61. He was considered a beginners writer and to
have a morbid look on human relations which is what he choose to write about in
Dangerous Liaisons. Although he was a military official with little literary training his
book Les Liaisons Dangereusescame to be literally acclaimed in the 18th century.
Laclos was born into a Bourgeois family in 1760 he was sent to Ecole royale d

normal military life and began writing small poems at first and later a opera. He also

Dangerous Liaisons is a thrilling and enthralling account of the sordid, scandalous
aspiring and often secretive lives of the noble class in the 18th century right before
the French Revolution. Dangerous liaisons brings to life a tale of betrayal and
revenge through aristocratic women and a rather promiscuous noble young man. As
these aristocratic women are eager to climb the social ladder and find loves that are
befitting them and their social class they are unaware they are apart of an elaborate
scheme for a mere women s amusement and experimentation. The book is written as
though they are letters between everyone involved from main characters Madame de
Tourvel, Vicomte de Valmont

and Madame de Rosemunde. There are many themes coming into play that are
most prominent during the 18th century in daily noble lives. First being that of

also discussed in saying that battle is the metaphor Merteuil and Valmont use to

Religious Beliefs And Practices For A Catholic Church
Mini Ethnography Religious beliefs and practices give several cultural purposes. It
was to be my first sight in a Catholic Church. Whenever I thought about a Catholic
Church, I would predict several different cultures and ethnicities joining under one
roof for a formal gathering along with a priest to worship someone or something.
Distinctive Roman Catholic beliefs include the special authority of the pope, the
ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, the concept of purgatory as a
place of afterlife purification before entering heaven, and the doctrine of
transubstantiation (Catholicism, 3). Located in Hemet, California the church, Our
lady of the valley was very small and in the middle of a small neighborhood. On the...

With that being said, there wasn t ever anyone new that went to the church unless
they lived in the area or were introduced by someone that goes there. Everyone knew
each other that attended and was a very close subculture. By Catholic subculture, I
mean the network of institutions, organizations, programs and resources of many
kinds that provided important support for the religious identity of Catholics while at
the same time assisting Catholic parents in transmitting that identity from one
generation to the next (Shaw, 21).
As I sat down on one of the benches in the chapel, I noticed that there was a wide
variety of ethnicities including, Caucasians, Mexicans and a family that was African
American that I later found out they attend the church every Sunday and were not
just visiting. Most of the crowd were families containing infants to elders. Although,
the remaining of the people were an equal amount of both male and female adults. All
of the different cultures and ethnicities coming together under one roof once a week
they all share something in common. The faith in their religion, Catholicism, is
extremely important to them. Regardless of what their background is, where they
came from or how they ended up at this church they were all there for one reason,
their faith.
Although, after talking to a couple of people

The Focus on Race in The United States Essay
Differentiated races are fixed either by nature or God. You cannot escape your racial
classification (Weidman, 2006). This is the fifth basic belief of ideology and instantly
establishes a basis on why race has survived in the twentieth century. There will
always be scientists, philosophers, doctors and historians examining the origins and
the continuation of race. By examining their research we are able understand this
color line and how it has impacted the twentieth century.
Race survived throughout the twentieth century in part due to the continuing
discrimination against those of non western European descent. From a cultural
aspect we began to separate groups and degrade them by using offensive terms such

Research surfaced describing the negative effects of hiring workers with immigrant
status (Roediger, 2008). These data sets indicated that the manual work of one white
man was equal to three colored workers. This even went further when describing
skilled labor. Charts were placed around businesses describing what nationality was
best for each profession. This discouraged Americans from hiring anyone except
white workers and continued to support the color line that was being formed in the
workplace.
Racism was not only present in the work place but also in the homes and
neighborhoods of immigrants. This racism served as an aide to the survival of
race as people considered it a necessity for minorities to assimilate into a culture.
Psychologists felt this was the only way to survive and continued to provide the
community with even more fallacies including the idea that blacks did not identify
with their colour of their skin and wished to change the color to white. After
research was conducted by Johnson and it was found that African Americans were
satisfied with their skin color. These individuals tended to steer away from be

of brown skinned people avoinding discrimination of being black and avoiding being
associated with the cruelness provided by whites. By filling the heads of our

Canadian Human Rights Law
Substantive equality prescribes equal treatment to all people regardless of the
circumstance and situation. It involves achieving equitable outcomes as well as equal
rights to everyone and eliminates inequality. Canadian human rights law does not
advance the rich, purposive understanding that Justice L Heureux Dube advocates.
The idea of Human rightsought to be universal and apply to everyone because it is a
cultural system. From an international stand point there is a limited amount of
enforcement mechanism, international human rights is trying to establish norms
where people will voluntarily work towards, this is closer to norms that don t have a
very strong mechanism. Often times in human rights, human dignity is brought up.

from restricting individual engagement in religious practices without giving a

coercion in matter of religious conscious, it requires that the state must treat
religious belief systems or religious communities in an equal manner. The state must
not support or prefer the religious practice of one group over another, and it must
not restrict the religious practice of a group, unless it is necessary. The state may

Pros And Disadvantages Of Tax Abatement
Tax Abatement

Tax Abatement Tax abatement is a concept that is often utilized to refer to the
situation where the government grants some type of tax reductions, or completely
exempts certain entities from paying taxes for a given period of time with the sole
aim of stimulating industrial, real estate, or job market development. Freilich,
Sitkowski, Mennillo, and Freilich (2012) pointed out that tax abated redevelopment is
important since it provides an effective platform for entities to flourish within a
deteriorating area. Harris, McKenzie, and Rentfro (2014) also stated that once in a
while, governments may grant tax exemptions or reductions to particular taxpayers
so as to encourage expansion of current operations within the jurisdiction of the
government. Tax abatement is not infinite. It exists only for a specified period of
time and is usually kickstarted by a constitutional amendment of some sort.
Advantages of tax abatement Dynamic technological developments coupled with
economic dislocations have led to slow economic growth leading to situations where
the country is laden with underemployed or unemployed individuals. In the midst of
such economic difficulties and structural changes, it is the hope of the citizens that
local authorities will implement legislation and other measures to help spur economic
growth and create more jobs. Gary (2015) observed that one of the favorite

Obesity And The American Diabetes Association Essay
According to the American Diabetes Association (2016), more Americans die
each year from diabetes than from AIDS and breast cancer combined. As a result,
researchers have extensively studied the causes, treatments, and interventions for
diabetes. Despite efforts to ameliorate its effects, diabetes remains a prevalent
danger in society. In 2014, 7% of U.S. adults were living with diagnosed diabetes
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2016). In Louisiana that
number was even higher 10.4% of adults have been diagnosed with diabetes.
Breaking it down by age group, however, in Louisiana 3% of people aged 18 and 44
have been diagnosed, and 15.2% of people 45 64. (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention [CDC], 2015a). Several studies have predicted future rates of diabetes,
both in the United Statesand worldwide nearly all of these studies reached a similar
conclusion: rates of diabetes will continue to rise (Boyle et al., 2001).
Many studies have examined the link between poverty and diabetes. The CDC
(2015b) have identified the following as primary factors that lead an individual to
have an increased risk of developing diabetes: being overweight or obese; having a
parent or sibling with diabetes; having African American, American Indian, Asian
American, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American/Latino heritage; having a history of
gestational diabetes; having blood pressure measuring 140/90 or higher; abnormal
cholesterol; and being physically inactive.

Comparing The AFL And The Populist Party
there are two classes in society, one incessantly striving to obtain the labor of the
other class for as little as possible, and to obtain the largest amount or number of
hours of labor . The United States of America by the dawn of the 20th century was
the home of opportunity and economic prosperity to people around the world, a
place where the average person could with hard work and dedication rise above his

opportunity to foreigner s, people actually living in the united states might have not
seen it in that light. By the late 19th century economic difficulties increased for the

Bent Leak Monologue
November 1995 A childish giggle popped gleefully from Alice s lips. Alice swung
me by arm. We were in the grass fields. The skies were drizzling a delightful
gradient of deep blue, lovely purple, and bright pink. Mom was at the door. She
swiftly raise her hand to mouth, a mother s call for her child. Alice hugs me tightly,
and runs into the house. Dad jumps at her. Alice screams and then beautiful laugh.
Dad is tickling Alice. Mom speaks to Dad, and points Alice to the sink. Alice opens
the sink. Water pours out of the faucet, Alice puts her hands in the water. Alice
comes back and grabs my arm. Her arm was just the littlest bit wet. We go to the
kitchen table. There are many other unfamiliar people in chairs. Alice has her chair.

Marijuana Legalization Essay
Marijuana Legalization Why is it the Best Choice for America? Marijuana, the most
abused drug in America, has had a lot of publicity recently. Marijuana has caused
multiple economic problems within the U.S. A controversial question has arisen
from the increased popularity and troubles of this drug. The question is whether or
not the U.S. government should legalize marijuana possession and sale in the
country. Many Americans believe that the drug should be legalized for various
reasons; others, however, are against the legalization of the dangerous drug. While
legalization has both pros and cons, the positives of legalizing marijuana for those
people over the age of twenty one far outweigh the negative aspects of legalization.

The United States government, in order to solve the marijuana problem, needs to
completely legalize the drug and place similar regulations on marijuana as it does
alcohol. It should not only be decriminalized; decriminalization would only legalize
the possession of marijuana. If the government chose to decriminalize the substance,
it would still waste millions of dollars in prosecuting all other marijuana related
crimes. Decriminalization would also fail to make the sale of marijuana legal in the
country, thus losing a product with the ability to provide the country with a
substantial source of revenue. Marijuana should be legal for sale to all individuals
over the age of twenty one. The reason for the age restriction of twenty one is due to
the similar effects of alcohol and marijuana. Both of these substances are mild
intoxicants (Ford). The government must also place the same sales tax on marijuana
as it places on tobacco and alcohol; without this special tax, the government s profit
on the taxation of marijuana would be noticeably less. There are several benefits
which would come to the government through the legalization

A company has many items that distinguish it from other companies. This can be the

can be added to the company logo. The logo is the symbol of distinction of the

What Is The Main Character In Cathedral By Raymond
Carver
In Raymond Carver s story Cathedral the main character happens to be the narrator,
he lives with his wife, and is a genuine introvert, and self centered person. His wife
has invited her best friend Robert, who happens to be blind, to come stay the night
in their house while he is traveling to see his in laws due to his wife s death. Being
the type of person Robert is he wants to show Bub how being different is not a
negative thing. It is time for the narrator to undergo a remarkable transformation.
Just because someone has always lived so narrow minded, narcissistic, and self
indulgent does not mean an extraordinary individual who has lived quite the
opposite lifestyle, cannot possess the power to entirely modify their outlook on
the world. The narrator tends to ask questions or imply different scenarios that
typically are not often brought up to a blind person. He may often do this because
he simply does not care, or because he just is not thinking things through. Bub and
Robert exchange this conversation in regards to him traveling, Did you have a
good train ride? I said Which side of the train did you sit on, by the way? What a
question, which side! my wife said. What s it matter which side? she said. I just
asked, I said. Right side, the blindman said. I hadn t been on a train in nearly forty
years. I d nearly forgotten the sensation . . . (Carver 37). The narrator may think it
would be pointless for a blind man to get the window seat when really

Battered Woman Syndrome Research Paper
Battered Woman Syndrome has been recognized as a subcategory of post traumatic
stress disorder (Walker, 2009). All women who have been battered do not meet all of
the criteria in the DSM V for post traumatic stress disorder but many of them do
(Walker, 2009). It is also important to note that women who suffer from Battered
Woman Syndrome may suffer from other mental health conditions. Treatment should
be tailored to fit the unique needs of the battered woman. However, according to
Walker (2009) treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and Battered Woman
Syndrome may include a combination of feminist and trauma therapy. Feminist
therapy helps the victim understand the situational factors that are out of her control
which may motivate her to accept and change the factors that she can control

For example, suing an abuser for financial resources after filing for divorce may be
an empowering action in the midst of such stressful legal action (Walker, 2009). On
the other hand, trauma therapy helps the victim better understand her psychological
symptoms that come from her exposure to trauma (Walker, 2009).Distinctive trauma
triggers include the memory of the abusers face, the sound of his voice, and even the
batterers scent during the abuse (Walker, 2009). The sensitivity to these triggers can
interfere with new relationships and many times never fully go away (Walker, 2009).
It is imperative to empower these victims of trauma to strive for change but it is
equally important to be able to explain how the abuse and fear triggers desperation in
the victim as mental health professionals. Documenting the clients comments about
the abuse and the fear of her abuser may help mental health professionals better
understand Battered Woman s Syndrome (Walker,
Humorous Day Narrative
The year was 2009. It was a nice clear warm August day. The whistle blew and I
lined up by the doors to the cafeteria. Now that I was in fifth grade I felt so much
older than the fourth graders standing beside me. I was small and unaware of the
big year I was about to experience. The day began and I was shown a chart that told
me exactly where to sit. Being surrounded by unfamiliar faces was a bit frightening
but I felt as though making new friends would not be difficult at all. After a half
hour of talking, the teacher began to pass out our books and talked about what we
would be doing in class in fifth grade. The clock shown 11:09 and we lined up for

Week 2 Question 2
What types of intellectual property are used at your organization? How are they
protected? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a noncompete clause as
opposed to a nondisclosure clause? What privacy and security issues arise when
conducting business on the Internet? Provide examples.
Intellectual property used in my organization is one simple thing, our price list. We
deliver food products to customers who need them, but our prices vary between the
customers depending on how much they order and how often. Larger corporate
stores get bigger discounts for volume versus the mom and pops restaurants who
order very little. These prices are also important to protect from our competition, who
could use them to underbid our current customers. Our job is to protect all of our
paperwork from falling into the wrong hands, not flaunting bills in front of the wrong
customers, and maintaining control of all the paperwork at all times.
The advantage of a non compete clause is it stops an employee from stealing
customers should they terminate their employment either voluntarily or
involuntarily. A non disclosure agreement is the paper I had to sign upon accepting
employment at my current job. It stated I was not allowed to take copies or actual
bills with prices, or share these prices from memory for no less than three years if I
Eduardo Quintana Case
Abstract
This research paper is going to focus mainly in the process followed by Officer
Bird during a traffic violation that led to the arrest of the suspect named Alejandro
Quintana. The analysis of the two sides of the coin, the officer and the suspect taken
into custody is of main interest in this case. There are a variety of steps to be
followed prior to an arrest. The officer/investigator should be responsible for any
action taken towards an individual who is about to or being processed. In the
particular case of Alejandro Quintana, officer Bird executed the arrest of a suspect
that clearly was suspicious utilizing probable cause and plain view search in order to
arrest him and seize the evidence. Mr. Quintana s Fourth Amendment right... Show

Bird could have not searched the trunk of Mr. Quintana s car even if she thought he
was hiding something from the law. According to Swanson et, al. (2014), the
Supreme Court ruled I the 1981 case New York v. Belton that when a policeofficer
makes a lawful custodial arrest of the occupant of an automobile, the officer may
search the vehicle s passenger compartment as a contemporaneous incident of
arrest...The right to search includes any open or closed containers found in the
passenger compartment...It does not include the trunk (Swanson et, al. 2014),
p.30). The arrest of Mr. Quintana gives the officer the right to search the passenger
s side but not the car s trunk. Officer Bird couldn t be able to legally search Mr.
Quintana s car trunk without and issued search warrant on the motor vehicle s
trunk. According to (Decker, 1999), The purpose of a warrant is to allow a neutral
judicial officer to assess whether the police have probable cause to make an arrest
or conduct a search (Decker, 1999, para.2). This one reason provides an even field
for the suspect and the police officer, giving the judge issuing the warrant the decision
making process of whether or not permitting the prosecution of the individual who
can be innocent by an officer unlawfully
A Woman s World Essay
A Woman s World
There is a great distance present between woman in education and woman in society.
Women in society, specifically the work place, do not reflect the portrayal of women
in education. There is a thin line present between the identity of woman and what
characteristics are needed to succeed in the work environment. Woman are capable of
obtaining the characteristics that lead to success however, many may question where,
when and how these traits are taught to women. In What Does a Woman Need to

The majority of teachers are woman who decide how and what is taught. Woman are
struggling to obtain such different roles in society compared to the roles portrayed in
these children books. It seems as though the situation has demonstrated a revolving
cycle. Children are taught that a successful woman is otherwise known as a mommy
. Today in society, many women view success as something related to the work place.
The portrayal of women in what is being taught is far from the reality of what
women are trying so hard to obtain in the work place. If the majority of teachers
are woman, then why aren t they teaching the tools to survive successfully in the
work place? If women themselves have never been taught these ideas and have had
to learn the survival techniques from within, then there is no common lesson
present to teach. These lessons are defined differently for each individual through
experience, time, and observation. Being a teacher in a career dominated by
women, one is rarely challenged in the way that woman are challenged in the mans
world . Predominately teachers may not even be aware of the challenges women
face outside of a teachers profession. If they do, they have not experienced it
themselves, and therefor may not know how to go about implying survival skills
through the education that one is providing. If women teachers are not aware of what
society s disadvantages are then they can not teach
Vioxx and Merck Co. Essay
Vioxx/Merck
Summary
The painkiller Vioxx was introduced in 1999 by Merck amp; Co. It has been used
by over 20 million Americans since it was put on the market. Vioxx remained on the
market for approximately five years without adequate warnings about its risks. In
September of 2004, Merck took Vioxx off the market after a study revealed that it
doubled the risk of heart attack or stroke for patients that used it for more than 18
months. Although Merck claimed that they had no idea of these possibly lethal side
effects, some internal documents imply that they had been aware of the problem for
years and had not made moves to change it. Over 300 lawsuits have been filed
against Merck, and it is expected that thousands more will arise. ... Show more

Without their votes, the committee would have voted that Vioxx should not return to
the market.
Response
Personally, I was shocked by the Merck/Vioxx situation. I could not believe that
something that was basically proven to cause heart attacks and strokes was
permitted to be put on the market in the first place, and the fact that it may be
brought back is horrible. I believe that things are being handled terribly. Since so
many of the members of the committee are financially connected with Merck amp;
Co., they would obviously vote in a way that would support the company, and in turn,
benefit themselves. It seems that the value of the well being of the patients that use
this medication is being neglected while the Merck and its associates simply look out
for themselves.
I do not believe that Vioxx should be put back on the market. For one thing, it has
already become clear how detrimental its side effects can be. Another reason is that
allowing this drug to be put back on the market will only discourage efforts made to
create drugs that will be just as effective but without the negative side effects. I also
disagree with the statement made by the committee, which basically said that it was
acceptable to disburse this drug as long as it had a warning and that a person should
be able to

My Favorite Season Essay. My favorite season is autumn because. Essay on My Favorite Season of ...

  • 1. My Favorite Season Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of my favorite season might initially seem like a straightforward task, given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of the chosen season and effectively conveying one's sentiments can prove to be a more challenging endeavor than anticipated. Firstly, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions that might make the essay appear formulaic. Expressing personal preferences in a way that resonates with readers and transcends the commonplace requires a thoughtful approach to language and expression. Furthermore, the task demands a careful balance between subjectivity and objectivity. While the essay is inherently personal, it should also engage the reader by offering insights or details that are relatable and evoke a shared experience. Striking this balance can be a delicate process, as it involves navigating the fine line between self-expression and universality. Additionally, organizing the essay effectively is crucial. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas, transitioning smoothly between different aspects of the chosen season, and maintaining coherence throughout the narrative can be challenging. The writer must consider the overall structure of the essay, integrating personal anecdotes, sensory details, and reflections seamlessly. Another hurdle is the challenge of avoiding monotony. Describing a favorite season may seem limited in scope, but the writer must find creative ways to captivate the reader's interest and maintain engagement throughout the essay. This entails exploring various facets of the season, such as its impact on mood, activities, or even its symbolic significance. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of one's favorite season may seem deceptively simple, the process involves overcoming multiple challenges. Crafting a unique and compelling narrative requires a blend of creativity, introspection, and effective communication skills. Ultimately, the difficulty lies in transforming a seemingly mundane topic into a captivating piece that resonates with readers. For those seeking assistance with essays or any writing challenges, there are resources available. Websites like HelpWriting.net offer a range of services where similar essays and more can be ordered, providing support for those looking to enhance their writing or overcome obstacles in crafting compelling narratives. • 2. Wagon Train Leader Analysis After we got done talking individually we talked as a group about setting up our wagon train. The first thing about the wagon train the we discussed was that thing we will be gathering together like medicine just in case someone gets sick on the trail. So the medicines that we gathered were sage, willow bark, bee pollen, red clover, and beet root. The other thing that we talked about was who is going to be our wagon train leader. After we thought about what type of things would make a good leader like someone that is responsible for most of the decisions on the trail, someone that can tell when to start moving and when to stop moving for the day, and someone that can find somewhere nice to camp for the night. So after all of that we pick Franklin

  • 4. Speech to Persuade for Travel Essay Planning Your Vacation INTRODUCTION Imagine getting away from the monotony of your everyday life. You can lie on the beach sipping a cool drink miles away from your worries of getting a paper done or helping a customer at work. You can be on top of a mountain overlooking beautiful lands that are different from your own backyard. Half of the class has taken a vacation less than five times in their lifetimes, but let s face that most of those probably included those little family vacations to Disneyland. But, all of you said that you planned to travel someday. So, why not do it sooner than later? One of the reasons for not traveling that many of you put is not having time because of school or work. • 5. Gang Analysis While there is no one definition, criminologists have agreed to define gangs via six characteristics that are expected to make up a gang. A self formed association of peers is the first characteristic of a gang, it includes a group of peers who choose to form up to acquire what they otherwise couldn t without the gangs formation. Secondly, gangs are bound by mutual interests that they strive for together. Third, well developed lines of authority and other organizational features with clear distinctions between leaders and members and their different roles. Next, is working together as a group to achieve a specific purpose and be successful without being caught. Penultimately, gangs involve criminal activity, committing crimes and engaging in delinquency. Lastly, gangs control a particular territory as their own as a way to show dominance and increase in power.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A traditional gang has regenerated for decades; therefore, it is old and big with a wide age range. Examples of traditional gangs are the Crips and Bloods, two of the most well known and territorial gangs in the nation. Due to their age and massive territories, traditional gangs tend to have cliques/subgroups inside the gang. Traditional gangs are highly structured and are kept in line by leaders as well as clearly identified rules and punishments. Meanwhile, compressed gangs have a narrow age range with most gang members being adolescents. Compressed gangs are also smaller than traditional gangs with only 50 to 100 gang members. Compressed gangs also lack the age and experience of traditional gangs but can eventually achieve traditional status if they don t break apart or

  • 8. Smith vs. Marx Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison S. Glen Balanoff July 04, 2004 Smith versus Marx В– A Comparison Modern economic society can be described as a combination of certain points from several theories combined into one. Changing dynamics and economic needs of nations has spawned a development of various, and contrasting, economic systems throughout the world. Perhaps the two most contrasting philosophies seen in existence today are that of capitalism and communism. The two philosophers most notably recognized for their views on these economic systems are Adam Smith and Karl Marx. This paper will identify several fundamental aspects of economic philosophy as described by Smith and Marx, and will compare and contrast the views of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smith believed that self, self interest, and self determination, all were mechanisms where individuals are motivated to gain wealth and power for individual gain and group gain. Smith believed that В‘self is a matrix of reason and passion (Levine, 1998). Furthermore, Smith believed that sympathy leads to empathy, and our individual self determination leads to accumulation of wealth that benefits others as well as us (Levine, 1998). Examples of this concept are evident in our current economic society today. We see Bill Gates and Microsoft providing technology to communicate more efficiently, Henry Ford s posterity changing the transportation market, and many others who impact man with their accumulation of wealth. The simplistic perception of capitalist society varies greatly among Smith and Marx. Smith believed that capitalism is a mechanism designed to curb man s selfishness and put it to work for the general good of all (Baumol, 1976). Conversely, Marx believed that capitalism is based on neither good nor evil, but a product of historical circumstances or experience (Baumol, 1976). Marx also believed that the law of motion in capitalism frustrates, rather than facilitates, the individual ends (wealth). Marx believed that wealth divides capitalists by class, and that workers must develop in a universal class (Levine, 1998). Marx also disagreed with Smith in believing that production must cease to be a labor process if it

There are two teams, Marvel s Avengers and DC s Justice League. Each team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who would win based on the heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. Conservation is needed to protect, improve, and use our natural resources wisely, so we can have the greatest economic value for the present and future. They are often told to reach for the stars and to chase their dreams. In India however, this was not the case. India followed what is known as a caste system. A castesystem does not allow young children the fantasy of becoming whoever they want to become, but instead their future is born when they are. The word caste was first coined by Portuguese traders in the 16th century and translates to race. The original caste system in India was developed more than 3,000 years ago and in some instances, still continues today. (Funk Wagnalls 2016) It was created by Aryan priests who had separated society into four different categories. At the top of the list was Brahmans (priests), next were the Kshatriyas (warriors), then came the Vaisyas (farmers and merchants), and lastly was the Sudras. The Sudras were composed of servants and laborers who were to work for the other three castes. Even worse than being a Sudra though, was being a member of the Harijans, commonly known as the Untouchables. This group was composed of the Dravidians who were native to India and shunned for religious or social sins from the other classes they originally came from. Aristotle defined ethics as guiding morals and principles that construes humans towards living a better, fullfilled life as a result of being prudence by applying practical wisdom in decision making process. The main objective of this theoretical concept was to seek an answer on the quaestion of how best to live or living a fulfilled life to the extremest (Hughes, Gerald J. 2001). Dangerous Liaisons is a thrilling and enthralling account of the sordid, scandalous aspiring and often secretive lives of the noble class in the 18th century right before the French Revolution. Dangerous liaisons brings to life a tale of betrayal and revenge through aristocratic women and a rather promiscuous noble young man. As these aristocratic women are eager to climb the social ladder and find loves that are befitting them and their social class they are unaware they are apart of an elaborate scheme for a mere women s amusement and experimentation. The book is written as though they are letters between everyone involved from main characters Madame de Tourvel, Vicomte de Valmont , Cecile, Madame de Volanges, Marquise De Merteuil, and Madame de Rosemunde. Whenever I thought about a Catholic Church, I would predict several different cultures and ethnicities joining under one roof for a formal gathering along with a priest to worship someone or something. Distinctive Roman Catholic beliefs include the special authority of the pope, the ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, the concept of purgatory as a place of afterlife purification before entering heaven, and the doctrine of transubstantiation (Catholicism, 3). By Catholic subculture, I mean the network of institutions, organizations, programs and resources of many kinds that provided important support for the religious identity of Catholics while at the same time assisting Catholic parents in transmitting that identity from one generation to the next (Shaw, 21). As I sat down on one of the benches in the chapel, I noticed that there was a wide variety of ethnicities including, Caucasians, Mexicans and a family that was African American that I later found out they attend the church every Sunday and were not just visiting. Most of the crowd were families containing infants to elders. Although, the remaining of the people were an equal amount of both male and female adults. All of the different cultures and ethnicities coming together under one roof once a week they all share something in common. The faith in their religion, Catholicism, is extremely important to them. Regardless of what their background is, where they came from or how they ended up at this church they were all there for one reason, their faith. Although, after talking to a couple of people

There will always be scientists, philosophers, doctors and historians examining the origins and the continuation of race. By examining their research we are able understand this color line and how it has impacted the twentieth century. These data sets indicated that the manual work of one white man was equal to three colored workers. This even went further when describing skilled labor. Charts were placed around businesses describing what nationality was best for each profession. This discouraged Americans from hiring anyone except white workers and continued to support the color line that was being formed in the workplace. Racism was not only present in the work place but also in the homes and neighborhoods of immigrants. This racism served as an aide to the survival of race as people considered it a necessity for minorities to assimilate into a culture. Psychologists felt this was the only way to survive and continued to provide the community with even more fallacies including the idea that blacks did not identify with their colour of their skin and wished to change the color to white. After research was conducted by Johnson and it was found that African Americans were satisfied with their skin color. Pros And Disadvantages Of Tax Abatement Tax Abatement Student s Name Institution Affiliation Tax Abatement Tax abatement is a concept that is often utilized to refer to the situation where the government grants some type of tax reductions, or completely exempts certain entities from paying taxes for a given period of time with the sole aim of stimulating industrial, real estate, or job market development. Freilich, Sitkowski, Mennillo, and Freilich (2012) pointed out that tax abated redevelopment is important since it provides an effective platform for entities to flourish within a deteriorating area. Harris, McKenzie, and Rentfro (2014) also stated that once in a while, governments may grant tax exemptions or reductions to particular taxpayers so as to encourage expansion of current operations within the jurisdiction of the government. Tax abatement is not infinite. It exists only for a specified period of time and is usually kickstarted by a constitutional amendment of some sort. Advantages of tax abatement Dynamic technological developments coupled with economic dislocations have led to slow economic growth leading to situations where the country is laden with underemployed or unemployed individuals. In the midst of such economic difficulties and structural changes, it is the hope of the citizens that local authorities will implement legislation and other measures to help spur economic growth and create more jobs. As a result, researchers have extensively studied the causes, treatments, and interventions for diabetes. Despite efforts to ameliorate its effects, diabetes remains a prevalent danger in society. In 2014, 7% of U.S. adults were living with diagnosed diabetes (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2016). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States government, in order to solve the marijuana problem, needs to completely legalize the drug and place similar regulations on marijuana as it does alcohol. It should not only be decriminalized; decriminalization would only legalize the possession of marijuana. If the government chose to decriminalize the substance, it would still waste millions of dollars in prosecuting all other marijuana related crimes. Decriminalization would also fail to make the sale of marijuana legal in the country, thus losing a product with the ability to provide the country with a substantial source of revenue. Marijuana should be legal for sale to all individuals over the age of twenty one. The reason for the age restriction of twenty one is due to the similar effects of alcohol and marijuana. Both of these substances are mild intoxicants (Ford). The government must also place the same sales tax on marijuana as it places on tobacco and alcohol; without this special tax, the government s profit on the taxation of marijuana would be noticeably less. There are several benefits which would come to the government through the legalization

  • 53. Battered Woman Syndrome Research Paper Battered Woman Syndrome has been recognized as a subcategory of post traumatic stress disorder (Walker, 2009). All women who have been battered do not meet all of the criteria in the DSM V for post traumatic stress disorder but many of them do (Walker, 2009). It is also important to note that women who suffer from Battered Woman Syndrome may suffer from other mental health conditions. Treatment should be tailored to fit the unique needs of the battered woman. However, according to Walker (2009) treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and Battered Woman Syndrome may include a combination of feminist and trauma therapy. Feminist therapy helps the victim understand the situational factors that are out of her control which may motivate her to accept and change the factors that she can control (Walker, 2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, suing an abuser for financial resources after filing for divorce may be an empowering action in the midst of such stressful legal action (Walker, 2009). On the other hand, trauma therapy helps the victim better understand her psychological symptoms that come from her exposure to trauma (Walker, 2009).Distinctive trauma triggers include the memory of the abusers face, the sound of his voice, and even the batterers scent during the abuse (Walker, 2009). The sensitivity to these triggers can interfere with new relationships and many times never fully go away (Walker, 2009). It is imperative to empower these victims of trauma to strive for change but it is equally important to be able to explain how the abuse and fear triggers desperation in the victim as mental health professionals. Documenting the clients comments about the abuse and the fear of her abuser may help mental health professionals better understand Battered Woman s Syndrome (Walker,
  • 54. Humorous Day Narrative The year was 2009. It was a nice clear warm August day. The whistle blew and I lined up by the doors to the cafeteria. Now that I was in fifth grade I felt so much older than the fourth graders standing beside me. I was small and unaware of the big year I was about to experience. The day began and I was shown a chart that told me exactly where to sit. Being surrounded by unfamiliar faces was a bit frightening but I felt as though making new friends would not be difficult at all. After a half hour of talking, the teacher began to pass out our books and talked about what we would be doing in class in fifth grade. The clock shown 11:09 and we lined up for lunch. I told everyone I was happy me and my partner, a dorky redhead, were such good friends. The tallest one seemed upset at this statement. Actually today you can not play with us she said to me. Baffled I responded, What have I done wrong? With an angry gaze deep in her eyes she said what would soon become an iconic phrase, Why do you not just go back to fourth grade! Offended and downcast I sat down at what had become my usual spot near the bench. Pushing these pebbles around with woodchips is much more fun than whatever game they are playing I would say in my head often trying to convince myself that I was not lonely but merely

Week 2 Question 2 What types of intellectual property are used at your organization? How are they protected? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a noncompete clause as opposed to a nondisclosure clause? What privacy and security issues arise when conducting business on the Internet? Provide examples. Intellectual property used in my organization is one simple thing, our price list. We deliver food products to customers who need them, but our prices vary between the customers depending on how much they order and how often. Larger corporate stores get bigger discounts for volume versus the mom and pops restaurants who order very little. These prices are also important to protect from our competition, who could use them to underbid our current customers. Our job is to protect all of our paperwork from falling into the wrong hands, not flaunting bills in front of the wrong customers, and maintaining control of all the paperwork at all times. The advantage of a non compete clause is it stops an employee from stealing customers should they terminate their employment either voluntarily or involuntarily. A non disclosure agreement is the paper I had to sign upon accepting employment at my current job. It stated I was not allowed to take copies or actual bills with prices, or share these prices from memory for no less than three years if I
  • 56. Eduardo Quintana Case Abstract This research paper is going to focus mainly in the process followed by Officer Bird during a traffic violation that led to the arrest of the suspect named Alejandro Quintana. The analysis of the two sides of the coin, the officer and the suspect taken into custody is of main interest in this case. There are a variety of steps to be followed prior to an arrest. The officer/investigator should be responsible for any action taken towards an individual who is about to or being processed. In the particular case of Alejandro Quintana, officer Bird executed the arrest of a suspect that clearly was suspicious utilizing probable cause and plain view search in order to arrest him and seize the evidence. Bird could have not searched the trunk of Mr. Quintana s car even if she thought he was hiding something from the law. According to Swanson et, al. (2014), the Supreme Court ruled I the 1981 case New York v. Belton that when a policeofficer makes a lawful custodial arrest of the occupant of an automobile, the officer may search the vehicle s passenger compartment as a contemporaneous incident of arrest...The right to search includes any open or closed containers found in the passenger compartment...It does not include the trunk (Swanson et, al. 2014), p.30). The arrest of Mr. Quintana gives the officer the right to search the passenger s side but not the car s trunk. Officer Bird couldn t be able to legally search Mr. Quintana s car trunk without and issued search warrant on the motor vehicle s trunk. According to (Decker, 1999), The purpose of a warrant is to allow a neutral judicial officer to assess whether the police have probable cause to make an arrest or conduct a search (Decker, 1999, para.2). This one reason provides an even field for the suspect and the police officer, giving the judge issuing the warrant the decision making process of whether or not permitting the prosecution of the individual who can be innocent by an officer unlawfully
  • 57. A Woman s World Essay A Woman s World There is a great distance present between woman in education and woman in society. Women in society, specifically the work place, do not reflect the portrayal of women in education. There is a thin line present between the identity of woman and what characteristics are needed to succeed in the work environment. Woman are capable of obtaining the characteristics that lead to success however, many may question where, when and how these traits are taught to women. Woman are struggling to obtain such different roles in society compared to the roles portrayed in these children books. It seems as though the situation has demonstrated a revolving cycle. Children are taught that a successful woman is otherwise known as a mommy . Today in society, many women view success as something related to the work place. The portrayal of women in what is being taught is far from the reality of what women are trying so hard to obtain in the work place. If the majority of teachers are woman, then why aren t they teaching the tools to survive successfully in the work place? If women themselves have never been taught these ideas and have had to learn the survival techniques from within, then there is no common lesson present to teach. These lessons are defined differently for each individual through experience, time, and observation. Being a teacher in a career dominated by women, one is rarely challenged in the way that woman are challenged in the mans world . Predominately teachers may not even be aware of the challenges women face outside of a teachers profession. If they do, they have not experienced it themselves, and therefor may not know how to go about implying survival skills through the education that one is providing. If women teachers are not aware of what society s disadvantages are then they can not teach
  • 58. Vioxx and Merck Co. Essay Vioxx/Merck Summary The painkiller Vioxx was introduced in 1999 by Merck amp; Co. It has been used by over 20 million Americans since it was put on the market. Vioxx remained on the market for approximately five years without adequate warnings about its risks. In September of 2004, Merck took Vioxx off the market after a study revealed that it doubled the risk of heart attack or stroke for patients that used it for more than 18 months. Although Merck claimed that they had no idea of these possibly lethal side effects, some internal documents imply that they had been aware of the problem for years and had not made moves to change it. Over 300 lawsuits have been filed against Merck, and it is expected that thousands more will arise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without their votes, the committee would have voted that Vioxx should not return to the market. Response Personally, I was shocked by the Merck/Vioxx situation. I could not believe that something that was basically proven to cause heart attacks and strokes was permitted to be put on the market in the first place, and the fact that it may be brought back is horrible. I believe that things are being handled terribly. Since so many of the members of the committee are financially connected with Merck amp; Co., they would obviously vote in a way that would support the company, and in turn, benefit themselves. It seems that the value of the well being of the patients that use this medication is being neglected while the Merck and its associates simply look out for themselves. I do not believe that Vioxx should be put back on the market. For one thing, it has already become clear how detrimental its side effects can be. Another reason is that allowing this drug to be put back on the market will only discourage efforts made to create drugs that will be just as effective but without the negative side effects. I also disagree with the statement made by the committee, which basically said that it was acceptable to disburse this drug as long as it had a warning and that a person should be able to
  • 59. Military Autobiography I m an Army brat, a term that defines who I am. My dad freshly retired with over 20 years of service and took our family on the journey along with him. Throughout my life, I have been blessed with the opportunity to live in seven different states and Germany. In each place I have lived, it was my goal to make some kind of impact on the community or school culture I was attending. For instance, at my elementary school in Tennessee I started a fundraiser to collect dog toys and food for a local animal shelter that my mom volunteered at. In New York, my dad was in charge of hundreds of soldiers and I would help babysit their kids during FamilyReadiness Group meetings. At a middle school in Washington, I joined the S2S club which had a huge involvement with welcoming the new students, namely militarykids. Since first grade, I have been an avid soccer player.
