I have been told that I look like a duck or an ostrich when I run, but that doesn t
give a reason for me to be condemned. Some uncommon or abnormal traits can be
praised because they are so unique. Some people are good at cooking and some
people aren t good at cooking, which benefits a lot of people because people can
enjoy good food without having to deal with their lack of cooking skills. I
definitely would not condemn a person who knows how to make a good steak, or
even a good wine. If unnatural is used in this sense, then homosexuality can t be
condemned. The fourth argument on if homosexuality is unnatural is based on
how any use of an organ or an instrument that is different from its main use can be
seen as unnatural. Every organ in the body and every tool or instrument is
designed to do a certain task. Sometimes, if a tool is used in a certain way, that is
different to its original use, it can be improper, and even harmful. Keys are used to
unlock doors, unlock padlocks, and start cars, but some people use keys to cut
through plastic containers. Keys are not designed for cutting, and if a person is not
careful, that person can cut or stab him or herself in the process. People know that
the main purpose for sex organs is to reproduce and to create more of their own kind.
No other organs in the body have the ability to reproduce. Any other use of the sex
organs, such as homosexual behavior, and even masturbation, can be seen as
unnatural.

infant republic that is just entering its revolutionary era. Eavan Boland s poem
Pomegranate, written in 1994, takes a radically different approach to parenthood
than Yeats s A Prayer for My Daughter. Rather than try to create a rigid plan for her
child to follow, Boland empathizes with her daughter and understands the
importance of letting her choose her own path, even if it is wrong or dangerous. She
starts the poem telling the gist of the story of Ceres and Persephone, a daughter lost
in hell/ And found and rescued there (Boland 215). She expresses that the best thing
about the legend is/ I can enter it anywhere. And have (Boland 215). She means that
she has been both a lost daughter and a worried mother. She recalls her childhood
exile in Britain, feeling strange and alien in the city of fogs and strange consonants
(Boland 215). In just the next line she walks out of the fog as a mother ready to
make any bargain to keep her daughter with her. However, just like Ceres, she knows
she cannot hold onto her daughter and she lets her pluck a pomegranate(Boland 215).
The poem itself is written in two long free flowing stanzas that emphasize the cyclical
nature the relationships between mothers and daughters. The speaker seamlessly
wanders between worlds: from childhood to motherhood, Greek myth to suburbia,
Britain to Ireland. The structure of the poem perfectly exemplifies how she enters the
legend, weaving in and out as she grows up and experiences life.
In final five lines she gives her daughter the myth and in doing so, encourages her
daughter to define her own legacy. She writes,
The legend will be hers as well as mine.
She will enter it. As I have.
She will wake up . She will hold the papery flushed skin in her had.
And to her lips. I will say nothing (Boland 216).
This image evokes the scene from Persephone s myth where she eats the
Pomegranate seeds that doom her to spend half the year in the underworld.

For this project my partner and I will be taking marine debris from the beaches of
the Kenai Peninsula area and making it into something more useful. More
specifically, we will be taking seaglass and making it into jewelry and other
decorations. The goal of this project is to reduce the amount of marine debris found
in the ocean and on the beaches. Reducing marine debris is vital to the economy
and ecosystems because it can reduce the number of animal deaths related to marine
debris, and it can reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean. If marine
debris is reduced then the ecosystems won t be as polluted. Eighty percent of marine
debris is made up of plasticmaterials. Marine debris comes from four main sources;
land based/personally used items, marine industries, container ship spills, and
natural disasters. Marine animals and birds can mistake marine debris for food, and
if they do swallow/digest the trash then it could lead to internal hemorrhaging,
starvation, and choking to death. They can also become entangled in fishing line,
plastic loops, nets, and ropes. If this happens then it could cause infection in the
animals, drowning, and starvation. So, if the population of a certain species start to
decrease, then we would know what was causing it. Our communities are disposing
