Devil s Advocate Essay Examples
As I sit at my lunch table with my friends while they have a discussion about the government, I
begin to ponder how people can find so much enjoyment from having a conversation of such
meager substance and no real input or outside ideas. While I begin to question our beliefs, I do
not initially say anything out of fear of being ostracized from the group. Likewise, I sit in
silence, surrounded but isolated by those that I viewed as friends. I have always been
surrounded by a strictly Democratic crowd. Likewise, as I grew up I adopted these views, and
rarely questioned. As I grew older and began to come in contact with Republicans, I began to take
notice of the harsh divide between people solely based on these stances. I began to wonder how
people could have any other beliefs outside of mine and those around me, but this all changed once
I reached high school.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being as I had surrounded myself with people that shared my views never seemed question their
own beliefs, this characteristic of mine began to become an issue between me and those I
believed to be my friends. If a political issue ever began to find its way in a conversation, the
others would almost always reach a conclusion and agree, and if anyone ever questioned this
conclusion, they would be denied, often through the use of ad hominem attacks rather than any
logical discussion. As time went on and I began to try to understand the other stand points on
certain issues, the frequency of the arguments between me and my friends increase. We began to
resent each other, and I would talk to them less. Eventually I found a new group of friends, a
group of friends that would listen to what one and other had to say and believed that regardless of
what each person s political stance is, they certainly have some form of reasoning behind it, despite
how wrong their reasoning may seem to

The Monetary Value That Represents All Of The Products...
The monetary value that represents all of the products made in a country is Gross Domestic
Product. This figure affects my life right now because the unemployment in the country can be
observed by looking at the gap between the GDP per capita and the GDP per person. I can use
this information because I am seeking a job. Also, in the future, knowledge of the GDP can be
useful because I will want to know my personal productivity compared to the average which is
represented by the GDP per employed person. Additionally, the Consumer Price Indexis a figure that
illustrates the inflationof prices over time. It is determined by the values of the prices of goods that
are included in the basket of goods which has products that consumers usually... Show more content

Furthermore, the Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization are used to predict if inflation will
occur. The industrial production measures how many manufactured goods are produced and the
capacity utilization figure uses this information to create a ratio that determines whether there is a
supply shortage or not. These figures can help me to find out if it is a good time to seek a job in a
particular industry. For instance, right now the capacity utilization rate is at 81.9% in the mining
industry which shows that there is a limited amount of supply, so employment opportunities would
be increased in this field ( Industrial Production ). In the future, I can use this figure to predict if
prices would increase in the field because if there is a limited amount of supply, then prices would
increase.
To add, Retail Sales is an economic indicator that shows the comparison of sales in the retail
industry within a few weeks. It is included in the GDP because the retail sales shows the
productivity shows the majority of sales and production in the overall economy. I can use the
retail sales figure in my life because I can see how the prices in retail will change. Also, in the
future, I can use retail sales to find out if retail is a good industry to invest in. Business Inventories
and Sales is a figure that contributes to determining the overall productivity of the economy. This
indicator shows the supply

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safran...
Weird. If the relationship between the characters of Grandpa and Grandma could be described in
one word, it would be weird. Then again, Jonathan Safran Foer s novel, Extremely Loud and
Incredibly Close is a shining example of everything unconventional, exploring the nuances of grief
through multiple and varying perspectives, each with a unique approach that attempts to achieve
recovery and solace. The relationship of Grandpa and Grandma is an example of one such attempt
at recovery, one that tries desperately to reconcile past traumas, yet ultimately acts as a futile effort
that harbors more grief and denial.
In order to delve into the relationship between Grandpa and Grandma, an understanding of their
pasts is necessary. Both Grandpa and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or anyone (309). This fear of being alone explains Grandma s oddly obsessive behavior with
those close to her, which also acts as a mechanism to fill the void left by the death of her father
and Anna. Anna s presence in the background of the relationship is clear and holds a particular
significance between Grandpa and Grandma. The fact that they are both extremely close to her
only amplifies the tension between them and creates another roadblock in their relationship. For
Grandpa, Anna s loss is the loss of the life he wanted. The denial of this loss is displayed in his
intimate interaction with Grandma. As he sculpts, he constantly tries to reposition Grandma in an
attempt to re create Anna. This yields important insight into Grandpa s psyche. His life is a
constant search for Anna, a direct effect of his failure to actually do so successfully in Dresden.
Grandma, however, is more influenced by Anna in life, rather than death. Her observation of Anna s
escapades with Grandpa left an impression on her. Through Anna, she developed an expectation and
image of what love should be. Her search for this love, the love Anna once had with Grandpa,
compels her to marry Grandpa when they cross paths in New York. In their relationship, it is
apparent that Grandma tries to ignite a real romantic relationship, desperately trying to fulfill his
needs. Of course this does not

Ethics in Corporate Communicatons Essay
Code of Ethics Assignment 2

Integrated Corporate Communication, Comm 3010
Paul Lindsley, M.A., ABC
The word ethics has many definitions depending on who you are speaking with and if it is business
related. One person may tell you that ethics has to do with what is right and wrong. Another may
say it has to do with that law of the land. In fact there are many interpretations and definitions for
ethics. In Corporate Communications there is a totally different set of code of ethics. The
standards for professional communicators are similar to each other and they also have their
differences in relation to their actual profession. I am going to compare and contrast the different

codes but the Board of Directors is still able to bar anyone from membership to the Public
Relations Society of America. The Public Relations Society of America believes in advocacy,
honesty, expertise, independence and fairness. There are six Public Relations Society of

The Working Poor
The working poor are those people that work the hardest for their dollar, work the hardest to get
their paychecks, work the hardest to survive. Most of the working poor live paycheck to paycheck
and like the saying goes, robbing from Peter to pay Paul. There is a way out of poverty, and there is
a way for these struggling individuals to escape the perils of their life in poverty. It is not an easy
road out, but it is possible. It is important for those that are born into this lifestyle to know that this
is not a destination; there is hope that they will live a so called better life.
Who are the Working Poor? Before we describe who the working poor are, let s describe what
poverty is. There are two general methods of defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gabourey Sidibe and Jennifer Hudson are a few stars that are heard about as going from nothing
to everything. You do not have to be a star to be able to escape from poverty though. There are
many programs that are available to individuals to assist them in finding employment and
assistance to get out of poverty. The programs that are available are reliant on the presidents and
law makers that are lobbied. The Bush administration had been wildly criticized for not being
responsive to the needs of the poorest Americans, (Burger, 2008, p. 20). At times an individual
just needs help in getting shown the right direction. Isolated in the projects, many like Camellia
lack the encouragement and connections to find decent work until a helping hand gives a push or
opens a door, (Shipler, 2004, p. 123). To be able to break out of poverty an individual must not be
afraid to leave.
Personal reaction conclusion Poverty is not something that effects just a certain population; it is
non discriminative. The working poor are the heart of America. They are people that we see
every day. For those that are living this way, it is important to know that there is a way out. In
Shipler (2004) book The Working Poor, he states, George W. Bush gave voice to the myth when
he was asked whether he meant to send a message with the inclusion of two blacks, a Hispanic, and
two women in the first senior

Importance Of Indissolubility Of Marriage

Divorce, remarriage and the Catholic Church
The Indissolubility of marriage: Still relevant today?
I was born and raised in a conservative catholic family. If I say today that I am more liberal as far
as the Catholic doctrine is concerned my mother will probably have a heart attack. My parents have
always strongly believed in the Catholic laws and traditions. Indissolubility of marriage was one of
the principles I was raised to respect and obey. The Catholic canon law (Can. 1056) stipulates
that, the essential properties of marriage are unity and indissolubility, which in Christian
marriage obtain a special firmness by reason of the sacrament . This means that, one s a man and
a woman get married, there is no possibility to get divorced and worst of all, and they are banned
from taking the communion at the mass. I was raised to believe in this solely. Growing up, I met
incredible people and I learned so much about life. My strong believe in the indissolubility of
marriage started dwindling. With time, I started questioning myself. Is it right for the Catholic
Church to keep the remarried or divorced couples from taking the communion? Maintaining this
law on the indissolubility of marriage, the Catholic Church does not only force couples to switch to
other religions, but it also does not respect and honor its creed which forgiveness and love.
Real life is far from what the church teaches us. The Catholic Church

What Is The 5th Wave Essay
The 5th wave by Rick Yancey opens after aliens have invaded and attacked earth. First, an

next a deadly virus killed 97% of the remaining survivors; then the aliens infiltrated the earth, and
the few remaining humans can t trust anyone.
I haven t read many sci fi books, so while going into it, I didn t know what to expect. Books about

Armed with sarcasm and a dry sense of humour, Cassie says everything we wished we had the
guts to say. She is alone in the wilderness and is driven by a promise she made to her little
brother Sammy and that is what makes her so effortless to like. The way that Cassie describes

Cassie lets her guard down and you remember that she is just a teenager.
Cassie is not our only narrator. The 5th Waveis written in multiple points of views. We get to hear

Olympics Research Paper
One day in 776 B.C. the Greeks decided to honor the God Zeus with competition and sports. In
1894, the games were resurrected in a modern setting. The olympics have expanded in size, events,
stadiums, and athletes since then. From 12 nations, 206 athletes, 60,000 spectators, and 43 events,

At the first modern olympics there were only 43 events, and now there are over 300. This is
surprising because one would never think that the olympics has ever been that small. Also, an
astonishing number of athletes are from California (124 out of 558 from America). The USA
has won the most medals in the summer olympics, a total of 2189. One thing that has not
changed is the most viewed event. It has been track since the first modern olympics. This is very
understandable because everyone enjoys a fast paced event that can change at any time. An
article from History.com states, In 1994 olympics have been held every four years, now they
stagger winter and summer olympics, every 2 years (https://www.history.com). Therefore
preventing the games from competing with each other, what a brilliant idea. A surprising fact is
that tug of war was an olympics event from 1900 to 1920. Tug of war was placed into the track
and field category. People associate this game with kids and no one would ever think that this
would be an olympics sport. Locations and host cities are also a huge factor of the olympics and

Dietary Habits Have Been Influenced And Changed Throughout...
Dietary habits have been influenced and changed throughout the years all over the world. Diets
impact one s health drastically, and could affect lives in the long run if not taken seriously. From
observation of those experimenting with different dietary habits, such as the cleanliness of going
vegan or cutting out the carnivorous acts of eating meatby going either vegetarian or piscatorial,
they are malnourishing and depriving themselves of the vitamins and proteins an all around diet
such as a paleo diet can provide. Health and Fitness magazines boasts about how much cleaner
one s body can be if they were to just stop consuming meat and ate only natural vegetables, are
neglecting the danger the person can be in if they began to involve themselves in intense physical
activity. Society deserves to know the true and false myths behind each type of diet such as vegan,
vegetarian, paleo, and the standard western diet. Although, web articles and books claim to have
the best diet against all others, their research and evidence are completely biased. There are tons of
people becoming victim to these publications telling everything they want to hear without telling
both sides of each diet. This research paper will investigate the true benefits and falls of each type
of diet so that those brainwashed by commercial advertising know the truth. In the lifestyle of many
people around the world, eating meat is one of the most unclean and unhealthy things to consume in

Human Relations Model Of Management
Introduction
Since the turn of the twentieth century a number of management theories have been introduced
into our society. These theories give insight into the ways in which organisations are run. Different
models of management are adopted depending on whether they rely on adaptability and innovation
for survival or whether their central aim is mass production to keep up with an ever increasing
demand. The two scenarios described would either adopt a scientific management approach or a
human relations model of management. The latter of which will be argued is the most effective
method when an organisation is dependent on innovation and creativity for its survival.
First it is helpful to address what is meant by the term management . ... Show more content on

The principles discussed in his work lay out the foundation for what he believed to be the optimum
procedures for creating a highly productive and efficient working environment. However, Taylor
does not give a clear description of what is meant by the term scientific management . Another
writer on the subject, Robert F Hoxie provides this definition:
Scientific management is a system devised by industrial engineers for the purpose of serving the
common interests of employers, workmen and society at large through the elimination of avoidable
wastes, the general improvement of the processes and methods of production, and the just and
scientific distribution of the product (Hoxie, 1915:140).
As we can see from the definition given, the underlying theme of this model of management is
industrial efficiency. Taylor s goal was to introduce a model that would increase output and
decrease waste.
One way in which Taylor foreseen greater efficiency within the workplace was through the
introduction of standardisation. Taylor (1911: 140) explained in his book:
science over rule of thumb; harmony, not discord; cooperation, not individualism; maximum output,
in place of restricted output; and the development of each man to his greatest efficiency and
prosperity.
cooperation not individualism from this statement alone we can see that there

decisions he made along the way. A revolver fell into the young, impure hands that are Jamal s.
This weapon of devastation sorrowfully becomes Salim s go to throughout life. The arrival of

Happy Documentary Analysis
In Happy by Roko Belic (a 2011 documentary), All I want is to be happy in life was a reoccurring
statement from the people in the film. A majority of people in today s world agree with that
statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary
presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The
film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The
bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people s happiness. The director of this
film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to
explain our simple emotion, happiness.
The filmmakers really amplified the idea that everyone can become happier. They filmed people
from many different cultures around the world, to show that there are no barriers for being
happy. Rather than starting the film with an interview from an average American, Happy began
with an Indian rickshaw driver sharing his daily lifestyle. Although it may have seemed like a
hard, tiring, and anticlimactic lifestyle to the audience, he was happy. The narrator reports,
Research shows that he was as happy as the average American. This may seem unrealistic for the
audience at first, considering the audience is still discovering this principle that happiness is
diverse for other individuals. Especially for an audience member who finds that a majority of their
happiness is related with money, this moment in the film may have not been easy for them to
comprehend. This part of the film really amplifies the main claim from the director that happiness
is mainly influenced by our ecology. The Indian rickshaw driver found most of his happiness when
he came home, and interacted with his son. The idea of ecology has a lot to with the social
interaction between individuals of the same species, in this case, it was the interaction between the
rickshaw driver and his son. Not only did the interaction with his son brighten his mood, but his
interaction with his neighbors also brought him to be happy.
The film then proceeds to reveal some of the science behind our happiness and how happiness is
measured. The film

freshman year I was on the J.V football team and the season had just started. I was out on the
floor and once the game started, I was trying too hard and rushing my game. Being inexperienced
at this level, we were losing the football game. Since we were losing, we were not having fun. I
was told by coaches and by myself that I needed to slow down and regain my composure. As
soon as I got that into my head, we began creeping back into the game and we were on top by the
fourth quarter. We were winning, having fun, and enjoying all the glory. Ever since that football
game I have remembered that day and made myself slow down if I am hurrying things. I believe
that this factor will carry on through life and make me a better individual. All in all team sports
can help to teach valuable lessons throughout life. First impressions are very important to your
every day life. They are the basis of how

The Sniper-Personal Narrative
The long June twilight faded into night. Dublin lay developed in darkness, but for the dim light
of the moon that shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of approaching dawn over
the streets and the dark waters of the Liffey. Around the beleaguered Four Courts the heavy guns
roared. Here and there through the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night,
spasmodically, like dogs barking on lone farms. Republicans and Free Staters were waging civil
war. On one evening, a man drove up in an armoured car, and had experienced something that
had happened before, but not in a long time. He was used to gunshots at night, but hadn t usually
been there to witness a death. This man was tall, and thin. He had eyes as blue as the sky. He
had a wife, and three kids, and his life had been as good as it can be. His life was always
interesting, when he knew the sniper had been out. There was always a story to tell, and he had
many encounters with him. The man had usually been at the wrong place at the wrong time. The...

A shot was fired, and the man in the car yelled for the old lady to run across the street. She would
be safe there. Another shot was fired, and before the old woman s body could react, she was
dead. His ears were ringing from the first gunshot which hit the vehicle armor. There was a loud
thud after the second pop or gunshot which was the woman s head hitting the sidewalk. It was the
worst noise he had ever heard. The man was used to seeing war horrors and hearing gunshots all the
time, but this death really took its toll on him. But he knew the sniper was still alive, out there,
watching him. The sniper could see the man, but the man could not see the sniper and nothing
would stop him from killing his target. The man was completely caught off guard, when another
gun fired, but this time it was from the opposite street, at the top of the

The Wartime Of The Nuremberg Trials
I.INTRODUCTION
On 8th August, 1945, shortly after the end of World War II in May of 1945, the Allied
governments entered into a joint agreement establishing the International Military Tribunal for the
purpose of trying those responsible for the war atrocities. Whereas some 5,000 Nazi s were
charged with war crimes, the Nuremberg trials were designed specifically to prosecute high ranking
Nazi officials with whom the authority for the commission of heinous atrocities rested.
The Nuremberg Trials would therefore be marked in history as one of its kind. Prior to its
formation, war crimes were limited to the military courts of the individual countries and for the
very first time the Nuremberg Trials would mark the inception of the concept of collective guilt as a
justification for punishment. The four counts of indictment were: Conspiracy to commit crimes
alleged in other counts, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This paper seeks to canvass the legacy of the Nuremberg Trial; the legal justifications and
procedural innovations that were once controversial and which through the turn of the century have
now come to be regarded as a milestone towards the application of principles of international law,
establishment of a permanent international criminal court enshrined under the Rome Statute and
setting new precedents for the international community. Furthermore, the author seeks to juxtapose
the legal and political justifications given for the

World War I Was A War
World War I was a war fought between the Allies and the Central Powers in 1914 through 1918.
This was the first international war in the twentieth century and possibly the most deadliest war
since. Every country was bringing out their finest advanced weaponry and their most strategic
methods to succeed. All of the new advanced weaponry and strategies had a huge impact on the
way the war was fought. The soldiers entered the war with horses and simple rifles, but left the war
with tanks, flamethrowers, machine guns, and even technology like poisonous gas. With all this
new technology impacting World War I, the Allies and Central Powers had to create new strategies

The first, the front line trench (or firing and attack trench), was located from 50 yards to 1 mile
from the German s front trench. Several hundred yards behind the front line trench was the support
trench, with men and supplies that could immediately assist those on the front line. The reserve
trench was dug several hundred yards further back and contained men and supplies that were
available in emergencies should the first trenches be overrun. (Bagget and Jay)
Germans also took advantage of trenches and created multiple types of trenches to help them win
the war. They were ready for any attack/possibility of invasion and were trying to use trenches as
strategically as they could. Trenches would cause damage to nature and the area around it.
Imagine how after the war with trenches, there would be multiple tunnels just engraved in the
ground and it would of destroyed all the life in that soil and around it. During the war, the sides
would use artillery on each other s trenches so they had to keep on expanding their trenches and
making new ones. The artillery would further destruction and cause many craters around the
trenches. The way trenches would cause people to get sick was probably not a concern to the
forces when creating them. Think about what would happen if soldiers had to sleep and stay in
muddy, wet, and dirty trenches twenty four seven. When their clothes got wet they wouldn t have

Teaching Phonics Essay
Phonics is described as understanding letter sound relationships, as well as larger letter pattern
/sound pattern relationships (Ruddell, 2009). Though in my opinion there is a lot more to phonics
than this. There are several aspects to phonics, different types of phonics, negatives to the idea,
and several ways to teach it. In this paper I will address all of these based on research I found, the
discussion I had with my peers, and my own opinion. There are different aspects to phonics that
should be taken into account by teachers. The first is how important phonics is to children. It is
said that both phonics and fluency need to be taught, practiced, and nurtured in the earliest stages of
reading instruction and provided to students at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that they need to have to know effective ways to teach it and how to use the various
types, which will be talked about in this paper. There are several different types of phonics but
the two main types are implicit and explicit (Ruddell, 2009). The implicit approach, or analytic,
is when the teacher teaches the relation between sounds and letters in the context of the word it
is found in. This means you are looking at the whole word and not isolating sounds. The explicit
approach, or synthetic, approach is the opposite of the analytic approach. Instead of looking at
the word as a whole, the teacher looks at each individual sound (Ruddell, 2009). From what I
know I believe that both of these need to be brought into the classroom. It is important for the
child to know each sound so they are able to sound out unfamiliar words in their readings but it
is also important for them to be able to recognize a word in context so they can identify words
easily and quicker. In my experience in classrooms I have noticed the different ways these
approaches were used. In my kindergarten placement the teacher usually used the explicit
approach. Each day we would concentrate on two or three letters and the sounds they made. We
would practice the pronunciation and read a poem or sing a song with the letter in it. In my
second grade class the teacher had a very different way. She would have the children look at the

Skype In End Of Life Care
The authors did so many things right when writing this article. It was a good length, considering
the topic it covered was so specific. They provided an adequate amount of background statistics
and information on social media and how it is used today, to get a better understanding of the
role of technology overall in our lives today. I also liked that they admitted the limitations of
their article; for example the reader only gets the case studies from one perspective when the
others are also important to know. They also did a great job of choosing cases that show the reader
how Skype can and did make a huge difference for these families and their dying loved ones. There

In the beginning I wish the article went into more detail about the evolution of the music
therapy profession and how their use of music can create greater results in their patients than
other care providers using music. It also could have been better organized to go from discussing
music interventions in the broad clinical setting to focusing in on the end of life care setting
instead of jumping back and forth between them. I feel that the article was comprised largely of
information for the general clinical setting instead of the palliative and hospice setting, which
was supposed to be the article topic since the article s title is Music as a Therapeutic Resource in
End of Life Care . Overall, I enjoyed reading this article for a multitude of reasons. Their choice
of vocabulary made it easily understandable, the topic was very interesting to me, and the fact that
I can use the information I learned in my future career as a nurse is a great benefit. After reading
this article I have a greater respect and understanding of music therapy and the effects it can have
on patients and their families. This is why I would recommend others to read this article, especially
individuals working in healthcare settings alongside music therapy

Sex Education and the Classroom
In today s society there is an on going debate over sex education and its influence on our children.
The question is no longer should sex education be taught, but rather how it should be taught
(DeCarlo). With teenage pregnancy rates higher than ever and the imminent threat of the
contraction of STD s, such as HIV, the role of sex educationin the school is of greater importance
now then ever before. By denying children sex education you are in a sense sheltering them from
the harsh realities they are bound to encounter. Sex education has become an essential part of the
curriculum and by removing the information provided by this class we ll be voluntarily putting our
children in danger.

Since family structure has changed, so have the way children are being raised. Society cannot
count on all parents to instill morals into their children and teach them the facts of life or even
the difference between right and wrong these days. Parents just don t have the time for it.
Recently the Vatican released a document stating that parents alone cannot give children the
positive sex education they need to develop healthy attitudes towards sex (Euchner). Another
view on the subject taken by the Nebraska Public School system is that sex education in today s
society is to complicated to be left to the varying influences of parental attitudes and haphazard
environmental exposure (Chaumont et al.). Besides, even if the parent were around more often
then not, the chances of a child approaching their parent about the bird and the bees is very
unlikely. These children need to have a place were the information on this touchy subject is
provided to them without them needing to ask. Kids don t go asking their parents, this is the
only way for them to find out answers because they are to embarrassed to ask anyone else, says
Pallodino, and eighteen year old from Virginia. (O Hanlon B8). In order for children to grow up
with the correct information regarding sex, it is necessary to have sex education provided to them
in schools.
Even though sex education seems as if it can do no wrong, there still remain many

An element that shaped Spanish culture during the nineteenth century was the rise of the

ideas including education, industrialization and capitalism. The term Bourgeoisie was first used by
French intellectuals who defined it as, the new social classlinked to changes of modernity

vast consumerism was often critiqued. The term embougeiosement was used as a negative

Once you have placed this type of bet, as a punter you know exactly what you are going to win
(or lose) right from the start, and so most people are comfortable with this type of bet since you
can manage your money more effectively, and this is so very important as a punter. Why Is
Spread Betting Different? Spread betting has become more popular in horse racing in recent
years, although it started out as being more popular in sports such as American football, rugby
and cricket; sports where there is potentially a large flexibility in the winning margin. It is also a
popular method of betting for those who trade the financial markets. Using this type of betting for
horse racing is definitely not for the beginner, nor the faint hearted, as there is generally the
possibility that you do not know how much you stand to lose if you re unfortunate enough to do
so. To explain this as concisely as possible, spread betting on horse racing is taking either the
jockey index, winning distance or the distance of places between individual horses, and so involves
a fair amount of guessing on the margin, known as the spread between

Data Hiding With Codeword Substitution Essay
The paper proposes data hiding with codeword substitution in encrypted H.264/AVC video streams.
Here video is encrypted and data is hided in the video to maintain the security and privacy. In this
way data hiding in encrypted domain without decryption preserves confidentiality of the content.
By analyzing the property of H.264/AVC codec, the codeword of the intra prediction modes, the
code words of motion vector differences and code words of residual coefficients are encrypted with
the stream ciphers. The data hider may embed additional data in the encrypted domain by using
code word substitution technique, without knowing original content. Data extraction can be done
in encrypted domain or in the decrypted domain.
Index Terms Data hiding, encrypted domain, H.264/AVC, codeword substituting.

What Is A Non-Traditional Family
With our rapid and perpetually changing society, we find that with time everything changes. Many
of these changes include: fashion, trends, communication, technology, and also family. It may
seem as if family does not have the ability to change, but recent studies suggest otherwise. A
family, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a group of individuals living under one
roof and usually under one head. This definition still holds true today; however, the parameters
seem to be blurred due to rapid changes in our society. Since the mid 1900s researchers have been
seeing a trend in that our idea of a familyhas been changing. With recent events such as the
legalization of gay marriage, the term family seems to be evolving. Traditionally, a family is
associated with: a father, who is the bread winner; a mother, who is the the caretaker for the family;
and the children of the mother and father.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was raised in a nontraditional family, where my mother was everything due to her single parent

individuals who share some type of bond, allowing for intimate relationships. I think that family has
started to change since the 1970s, when the world began to see a shift in traditional family values,
and movements: feminism, and gay rights. Now when we think of family, the term house hold
often comes into play. I think that the main difference between the two is the relationships that are
made. A family is a more intimate relationship that involves love and nurturing, and a household

A common excuse among men who abuse women is I had no control over myself. In Audrey
Mullender s book Rethinking Domestic Violence: The Social Work and Probation Response 1996,
she states that this and excuses like it have the tendency to defer the responsibility from the abuser
to an obstacle from their past that impacted them negatively (231 32). Mullender is on to something
because within the last decade there has been an increase of domestic violenceby known
figureheads. These incidents have been conducted by artists, celebrities and athletes. According to

reports that they make up 21% of violent crimes (Truman). This issue is nothing to take lightly

which is why they created this ad that incorporates a viral controversy with the actual
controversy of domestic violence. They are subliminally sending the message that although, this

abused daily without a blink of an eye. There needs to be a change in the society to cause an
uproar over events or movements that can protect a life or make the world better, not for an

filter on at the right time. Society needs to get its priorities in order before some truly horrifying

The Impact Of Technology On The Field Of Defence
The evolution of technology has made the life easier .However, the complete result can be
achieved only when technology is made the best use of it.Technology is not only used in the IT
industries but, it has become the part and parcel of everybody s life. In 21st century, this can be
realized through the way we are using technology. We have mobile applications which is almost
able to do everything that we ask for. We can pay our bills online, book a flight ticket, take online
classes anywhere in the world, talk to friends and family from long distances etc.
So then, how can we make use of this vast technology in the field of defence? Every nation in the
world depends on the sophisticated defence equipments for their own protective measures. The
history of collaboration of technology in defence is not too new. Nations like USA, UK, CHINA,

Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s

NASA to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an
entirely government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all
of its sectors which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASA Administrator
Chris Scolese told a congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150
million in stimulus package money to private companies that design, build and service their own
rockets. Furthermore, NASA has picked three private companies to act as its International Space
Station delivery service through the next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK,
and Sierra Nevada Corporation will transport supplies up to the International Space Station and
back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most importantly, President Obama announced in his Space

reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private corporations. Thus, the claim that NASA needs to
privatize falls hollow because NASA is already privatizing the sectors which should be privatized.

Fragmentation of the California Red legged Frog Environment. The issue I will be raising is one
that might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the

otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because
most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364

their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied
approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to
highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more
significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently
listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings,
projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation
in areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along
southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey).
The California red legged frog has an intrinsic link to

Screwtape Letter Essay
In the Screwtape Letter, by C.S. Lewis, Srewtape insists that all pleasures are created by the
Enemy, meaning God, and that demons have not figured out how to create them. It s an idea
commonly seen in Christian theology. God brought all things into this world to be good, and those
things can and have been corrupted by demons and the lot. What Screwtape is saying is that, God
wants people to experience pleasure, and that it is a demon s job to corrupt a person s sense of
that pleasure. Screwtape brings up the idea multiple times throughout his letters. He mentions it
mainly with talking about love and corrupting Wormwood s human s idea of love. His focus on it
seems to show some kind of fascination. Possibly that of envy. Not in the sense... Show more

Surely if God created all pleasures, then all pleasures are good, and thus, sin cannot exist. However,
each person possess free will, and with that free will, must choose a path that brings them to God.
Therefore, without some temptations, free will would be rather pointless, as everyone would
forcibly be in the grace of God.
While that s a possibility, a much more likely reason is presented in the Screwtape Letters.
Which is, once again, that demons corrupt that which God has already establish. Screwtape is
constantly telling Wormwood how to use and abuse the free will which God has given humans,
and even mentions at one point how easy it would be for God to just draw everyone to him, but
how it would violate free will. So really, it is a combination of both free will and God punishing
those who fall from his path and allow themselves to be controlled by demons.
In conclusion, all pleasures were made by God. They were not intended to be sin, however,
demons corrupted them into sin, to draw people into their domain. Humans, having free will, are
freely influenced off the path to God into that sin, by demons. In Screwtape Letters, Screwtape
frequently talks about using pleasures and exploiting free will for Wormwood to ensure he captures
the soul of the human he s assigned

Cn Case Study Essay examples
Executive Summary:
My decision as the President and CEO of CN, Hunter E. Harrison, is to continue with our strategic
focus on continuing to improve productivity and customer service along with a new directive
moving forward to continue to grow our sales, profits, cash flow and market value. CN will
implement a new strategic focus to expand the share of rail traffic in North Americaby directing
overseas traffic flows on to our network. In order to grow with expansion possibilities in North
America being limited and the growth in NAFTA trade declining, CN requires a solid strategy to
capture the growing importance of Asian markets. CN will invest and/or partner in international

CN deals with both regulatory agencies in the US and Canada for safety and security, cross border
mergers and acquisitions, where there is an absence of political integration and harmonization so
CN must keep their identity as both an American and Canadian company despite their integrated
North American structure and operations. There is a rise in demand for Asian trade due to lower
total costs compared to the costs of a North American product. CN wants to increase revenue and
profits by participating in this market transporting goods in and out the Asia and North American
markets. If CN were to expand internationally with rail lines and operate like their North American
network there are many factors to consider such as government regulations, costs, infrastructure and
technology. The Asian Development Bank s share of total lending for transportation infrastructure
has been rising with relatively large programs in China and Southeast Asia. China, Mexico and parts
of Southeast Asia, in particular, are quickly expanding or enhancing road and rail infrastructure,
supporting rapid growth in their respective economies. China s railway system has been in decline,
but leadership has realized the need to upgrade the rail system in order to connect the less
developed, but resource rich, northern and western parts of the economy with more prosperous
manufacturing centers in the East. This will foster development outside the coastal provinces.

Gary Gager
There once was a scientist named Gary Gee Gager. He was the best in his department. He
studied and changed the way animals evolve and grow and how to change them. In his lab he
had two test bunnies name Greg and Bella. Gary wanted to see if he could double their growth
and size. But Gary needed perhe ever thought of. Over the course of eight years in jail this is all
he thought about. First he regained all his research and found a shocking discovery why they
didn t age. He apparently made them their bodies heal to times faster not allowing them to age
there body never got weaker! Over the course of time he studied the two bunnies. It seemed the
more time they grew so did their healing abilities. 4 years passed the bunnies still grew. They were

Harbour Labourers Union Essay
Shipyards the Unions The sectarian workplace cultures of Northern Ireland relocated and re
positioned within mainland Britain, and in Scotland specifically. The consequence of this resulted
in significantly fewer Irish Catholics having the opportunity of gaining employment in skilled or
management positions, instead the vast majority were consigned to lesser skilled manual jobs.
This phenomenon produced a diverse cultural and social milieu on Clydeside, which can be
evidenced in dockside industrial relations of the 1850s. Kenefick s research uncovered the
existence, in the 1850s, of the Glasgow Harbour Labourers Union (GHLU), an exclusive
organisation of a few hundred members, reputed to have had collusive arrangements with specific...

Two Ulster immigrants Richard McGhee, a Protestant, and Edward McHugh, a Catholic, formed
the National Union of Dock Labour in Glasgow in 1889. Both men had links with and supported
Michael Davitt the Irish republican agrarian campaigner for Home Rule and land reform.
McGhee and McHugh garnered support within the Glasgow docks for the National Union of
Dock Labour and in doing so openly highlighted the combined heritage of both Catholics and
Protestants in support of Irish labour and the struggle for home rule. The Glasgow Harbour
Mineral Workers Union was formed in 1887 for workers in the coal and iron ore docks with a
membership made up mainly of Irish Catholics. The following year it was embroiled in a dispute
at the Glasgow docks with Martins (one of the main companies handling minerals) who, in an
attempt to circumvent the issue, advertised for Protestant only workers in Belfast. In spite of
playing the sectarian card, hiring and importing strikebreaking workers, Martins lost the dispute.
Following a period of sustained picketing (fifty pickets were arrested) the strikebreakers defected,
and Martins settled. Reports at the time suggest that some of the strikebreakers were given money
by the Union to pay for their journey back to Belfast, while others were secured employment in the
shipyards. Like the Glasgow Harbour Labourers

Essay On Nanoparticles
In recent years, inorganic and chemosynthesized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles
(SIONPs) such as Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4 MgNPs) have attracted extensive interest
for their biocompatible (Kunzmann et al., 2011) and low toxic properties mainly in the human body
studied (Jeng and Swanson, 2006; Karlsson et al., 2009) which make them as promising remedial
tools in related fields. Magnetite nanoparticles is the most studied for many technological
applications in biomedicine, such as high sensitivity biomolecular magnetic resonance imaging

Whereas, marine macroalgae have richness in minerals (Wells et al., 2017) that can be used for
the greener route synthesis of Fe3O4 MgNPs, and as bionanofactories materials (LewisOscar et

contender for biosynthesis of metallic NPs (Davis et al., 1998). However, the synthesis of stable
Fe3O4 MgNPs using algae extracts are very complicated due to the high reactivity, high particle
instability, great propensity of iron ions to oxidization and reduced with a wide array of various
chemical compounds, and high tendency to aggregate into agglomerates within the solution (EL
Kassas et al., 2016; Makarov et al., 2014; Huang et al., 2007). In view of inorganic iron oxide
nanoecotoxicity, little studies report in the human (mainly inorganic Nano Fe3O4) (Jeng and
Swanson, 2006; Karlsson et al., 2009) and existence the criteria to define the toxicity of
nanomaterials does not guarantee that iron oxide nanoparticles pose no potential risks in a
challenge with environmental systems and are suitable for use in widespread applications. Hence,

Schenck V. United States Court Case Analysis
Twenty Thousand Flyers In this essay, I will analyze John Mill s argument on freedom of speech
in relation to Schenck v. United States court case. During the early 20th century, the U.S.
government decided to join World War I. Hence, they held a draft, by choosing random male
citizens who were in between the age of eighteen to forty five to fight for the country. At this time,
Charles T. Schenck was the general secretary of the U.S. socialist party in Philadelphia in the early
20th century. He was against the U.S. entry into World War I and its implementation of a military
draft. Thus, he distributed over twenty thousand flyers to U.S. citizens in objection against the draft
process. Therefore, the government arrested him for violating the Espionage Act. The congress

government declared war against Germany. President Woodrow Wilson wanted to stop the
disloyalty of the immigrants, German natives, and people who opposed the government. Therefore,
after a couple of months, the congress passed the Espionage Act. This act forced the people to
support the government. After this act was ratified, speaking against the U.S. government during
WWI became illegal. The U.S. government declared the Espionage Act to increase people s
nationalism and to make them fully committed to the war. This act affected everyone living in the
U.S. More than two thousand people were arrested while the Espionage Act was in effect. Although,
most young men wanted to take a part in the war, others were living in fear. They were afraid to talk
against the government and the war in public. This act associated a sense of a dictatorship with the
government. The people of the U.S. were disunited to the point that some accused their neighbors of
being unpatriotic just because of their ethnicity. Based on this, the government arrested many
innocent Germans, and thus, only those who did not question the government, were able to

Stress About Retirement Readiness is Killing Employee Morale Here s How Plan Advisors Can
Help By Edward Dressel According to a recent retirement confidence study conducted by the
Employee Benefit Research Institute, American workers are stressed about their inability to retire,
but few are doing anything about it. For retirement plan advisors, this is an especially vexing
problem and, most likely, an urgent call to action. The employers and plan sponsors with whom you
work should know that their employees have one burning, yet simple question when it comes to

really serving their employees so that they, with the plan advisor s help, can identify how to
improve employee participation and retirement outcomes. Make sure to review participation and
contributions by demographic groups to determine changes over time. Gather the information
employers need to know with confidence whether the employees retirement readiness is
improving. Helping people retire with confidence is a calling for many plan advisors. Specialty
software programs and proven methodologies are available to help plan advisors be more
efficient as business professionals and more effective in their roles as professional counselors and

Jonas Salk Accomplishments
In the medical field, there have been many achievements by both men and women. Whether it
was developing, discovering, or being the first person to do something, they all shared an impact
on the way the medical field is today. I researched Jonas Salk, the man who developed the Polio
vaccine. I selected him because I believe he has one the of biggest impacts on the medical field
today. In my opinion, without him, the Polio epidemic would still be killing many people, in not
only the U.S., but around the world as well. Jonas Salkwas born on October 28, 1914, in New York.

He knew that Polio caused paralysis, and invaded the nervous system. As a result, he wanted to
end the greatest epidemic in America at that time. As he began researching, the president of the
March of Dimes Foundation, Basal O Connor, wanted to help Salk create the Polio vaccination.
His goal was to fund Salk to find a cure against Paralytic Poliomyelitis, or Polio. Jonas devoted the
next 8 years of his life working to develop the vaccine. He finally was able to create the vaccine,
using formaldehyde, or a chemical compound. Salk used the killed Polio virus to immunize
without being infected, or becoming infected after the injection. Soon after the vaccine was
created, they began to test it on monkeys; and then they tested it on children who already had
Polio at the Watson Institute. After that trial was done, the testing spread to volunteers who
wanted the vaccine; this included Jonas, his wife, and his family. By 1954, national testing
began on children between the ages of 6 9. On April 12, 1955, they were able to conclude that
the vaccine was safe and effective. Salk became known as a miracle worker, although he remained
selfless. Jonas wanted no major payment, or recognition for the creation of the vaccine. In fact, he
credited that the vaccine creation was accomplished due to the help of John Enders, a Harvard
researcher. Enders was the man

Role of Ethics in Financial, Environmental, and Cultural...
Individual Ethics Case Study Given the current pressures on China, Jamaica, and America
expressed in the article, one would anticipate that ethics would play different roles in the financial,
environmental, and cultural issues for each of the three countries. However, in the case study, it
does not appear that the people from the three different countries really take different approaches to
most ethical scenarios. In fact, the decisions made by people in all three countries were very
similar. There was one significant difference; Jamaicans were more likely to choose a scenario that
would result in pollution than Americans or the Chinese. However, Jamaicans were still less likely
to choose to pollute than they were to choose not to pollute. Otherwise, financial and cultural issues
seemed to have similar impacts on their ethical decision making, despite the different historical and
cultural backgrounds and present realities of the three different countries. For many people,
business ethicsseems to be a Western phenomenon. Therefore, adopting western business ethical
standards would seem to be particularly challenging for China, thought that is belied by the results
of the research. However, it should come as no surprise that the Chinese make ethical decisions that
are similar to Americans. China does a tremendous amount of business with the Western world, and
has had to adopt some westernized business ethicsissues to be successful in those ventures.

Intergenerational Mobility
When most people (here in the US or anywhere else in the world) hear or talk about the United
States, a common theme is living the America Dream . The American Dream is the idea that
children will have a higher standard of living than their parents and in 1940, 92 percent of them
did. But by 1980 that number decreased to 50 percent, in terms of absolute mobility. The term
successful is a universal term and applies different for every single individual because everyone
has different levels of success, some are higher then others and there can be some barriers in the
way. There are many stories and evidence that have proven this theme but in the fine details there
are many other things that come into play when it comes to becoming successful .... Show more

However, when a student wants to attend college after high school, the chances of going to any
school of his or her choice can seem unfair and have unequal opportunity to other peers.
Unfortunately the idea of being limited to attending certain schools has a big influence in chances
of becoming successful. Even though higher educations seems to have a direct path for high wages,
the access to college can have reverse effects on intergenerational mobility. By limiting access from
someone in a bottom percentile to have the possibility to attend a good college harms their upward
mobility. In efforts to help breakdown an understanding of how education affects intergenerational
mobility, a study called Mobility reports cards show significant findings. Mobility reports cards
were conducted by collecting administrative data from more then thirty million college students in
the years of 1999 2013. We obtain rosters of attendance at all Title IV accredited institutions of
higher education in the U.S using de identified data from federal income tax returns combined with
data from the National Student Loan Data System. We obtain information on students earnings in

The Transformation Of Genes On The Mitochondrial And...
Transformation is a procedure where cells take up foreign DNA from their environment. This can
happen in either prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells. A circular self replicating molecule of DNA
known as a plasmid transfers genetic information between bacteria enabling the microbes to gain
antibiotic resistance as well as the ability to adapt to a new environment. Bacteriaalso have the
capability to acquire small pieces (at random) of DNAfrom their environment but this however is
said to be inefficient because only a small fraction of cells will uptake DNA and become
transformed. Expressions of genes on the plasmid will alter the genotype and phenotype of the
cell. Under specific laboratory conditions a cell which is incubated with the plasmid DNA has the
ability to absorb the plasmid into its own cytoplasm. Because these natural processes can
potentially be modified by scientists, the transformation procedure can be used as a means of
treating human diseases to increase the quality of life.
Genetic transformation will be assisted with the use of plasmid pGLO which contains four features.
Origin of replication (ori), ampicillin resistance gene (bla), arabinose promoter protein (araC) and
the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP gene). The Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is extracted from
a bioluminescent (encodes fluorescent protein) jellyfish called Aequorea Victoria which glows
green when exposed to ultraviolet light. GFP holds many advantages due to its stability and the fact

Psychological and Sociological studies have examined the impact of all types of stimuli on
Teenagers/Youths criminal behavior like Peer pressure, Parental Attitudes (not caring), Dropping
out of School, Drinking, Drugs, and Yes, Violent Video Games. In the Criminal Justice world, the
teenage brain itself has been cited as a reason to end Solitary confinement for Adolescents and
teenagers not to mention the abolition of both life sentences and the death penalty for Juveniles.
What are the Causes and Effects that makes Youths get into such Deviance Behavior?
When a Youth commits a serious crime, the first responses generally fall into three categories:
Call the Police to make an arrest
Complaints that the City Government is not doing enough to protect the public
Questions about what caused the perpetrator to go do wrong
Youth poverty, not youth biology is the most to blame for youth crime. Also their environment.
Within every race and community youths suffer poverty rated two to three times higher than older
adults do. It is astonishing that researchers have complied theories and claims about youths:
Risk Taking
Impulsiveness
Brain Deficiencies
Crime Proneness
Without examining whether these are due to young people s low socioeconomic status, not young
age. Poverty and crime has a very close relationship that has been describe by professionals from all

  • 2. Devil s Advocate Essay Examples As I sit at my lunch table with my friends while they have a discussion about the government, I begin to ponder how people can find so much enjoyment from having a conversation of such meager substance and no real input or outside ideas. While I begin to question our beliefs, I do not initially say anything out of fear of being ostracized from the group. Likewise, I sit in silence, surrounded but isolated by those that I viewed as friends. I have always been surrounded by a strictly Democratic crowd. Likewise, as I grew up I adopted these views, and rarely questioned. As I grew older and began to come in contact with Republicans, I began to take notice of the harsh divide between people solely based on these stances. I began to wonder how people could have any other beliefs outside of mine and those around me, but this all changed once I reached high school.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being as I had surrounded myself with people that shared my views never seemed question their own beliefs, this characteristic of mine began to become an issue between me and those I believed to be my friends. If a political issue ever began to find its way in a conversation, the others would almost always reach a conclusion and agree, and if anyone ever questioned this conclusion, they would be denied, often through the use of ad hominem attacks rather than any logical discussion. As time went on and I began to try to understand the other stand points on certain issues, the frequency of the arguments between me and my friends increase. We began to resent each other, and I would talk to them less. Eventually I found a new group of friends, a group of friends that would listen to what one and other had to say and believed that regardless of what each person s political stance is, they certainly have some form of reasoning behind it, despite how wrong their reasoning may seem to ... • 3. The Monetary Value That Represents All Of The Products... The monetary value that represents all of the products made in a country is Gross Domestic Product. This figure affects my life right now because the unemployment in the country can be observed by looking at the gap between the GDP per capita and the GDP per person. I can use this information because I am seeking a job. Also, in the future, knowledge of the GDP can be useful because I will want to know my personal productivity compared to the average which is represented by the GDP per employed person. Additionally, the Consumer Price Indexis a figure that illustrates the inflationof prices over time. It is determined by the values of the prices of goods that are included in the basket of goods which has products that consumers usually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization are used to predict if inflation will occur. The industrial production measures how many manufactured goods are produced and the capacity utilization figure uses this information to create a ratio that determines whether there is a supply shortage or not. These figures can help me to find out if it is a good time to seek a job in a particular industry. For instance, right now the capacity utilization rate is at 81.9% in the mining industry which shows that there is a limited amount of supply, so employment opportunities would be increased in this field ( Industrial Production ). In the future, I can use this figure to predict if prices would increase in the field because if there is a limited amount of supply, then prices would increase. To add, Retail Sales is an economic indicator that shows the comparison of sales in the retail industry within a few weeks. It is included in the GDP because the retail sales shows the productivity shows the majority of sales and production in the overall economy. I can use the retail sales figure in my life because I can see how the prices in retail will change. Also, in the future, I can use retail sales to find out if retail is a good industry to invest in. • 5. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safran... Weird. If the relationship between the characters of Grandpa and Grandma could be described in one word, it would be weird. Then again, Jonathan Safran Foer s novel, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a shining example of everything unconventional, exploring the nuances of grief through multiple and varying perspectives, each with a unique approach that attempts to achieve recovery and solace. The relationship of Grandpa and Grandma is an example of one such attempt at recovery, one that tries desperately to reconcile past traumas, yet ultimately acts as a futile effort that harbors more grief and denial. In order to delve into the relationship between Grandpa and Grandma, an understanding of their pasts is necessary. Both Grandpa and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or anyone (309). This fear of being alone explains Grandma s oddly obsessive behavior with those close to her, which also acts as a mechanism to fill the void left by the death of her father and Anna. Anna s presence in the background of the relationship is clear and holds a particular significance between Grandpa and Grandma. The fact that they are both extremely close to her only amplifies the tension between them and creates another roadblock in their relationship. For Grandpa, Anna s loss is the loss of the life he wanted. The denial of this loss is displayed in his intimate interaction with Grandma. As he sculpts, he constantly tries to reposition Grandma in an attempt to re create Anna. This yields important insight into Grandpa s psyche. His life is a constant search for Anna, a direct effect of his failure to actually do so successfully in Dresden. Grandma, however, is more influenced by Anna in life, rather than death. Her observation of Anna s escapades with Grandpa left an impression on her. Through Anna, she developed an expectation and image of what love should be. Her search for this love, the love Anna once had with Grandpa, compels her to marry Grandpa when they cross paths in New York. In their relationship, it is apparent that Grandma tries to ignite a real romantic relationship, desperately trying to fulfill his needs. Of course this does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the working poor live paycheck to paycheck and like the saying goes, robbing from Peter to pay Paul. There is a way out of poverty, and there is a way for these struggling individuals to escape the perils of their life in poverty. It is not an easy road out, but it is possible. It is important for those that are born into this lifestyle to know that this is not a destination; there is hope that they will live a so called better life. Who are the Working Poor? There are many programs that are available to individuals to assist them in finding employment and assistance to get out of poverty. The programs that are available are reliant on the presidents and law makers that are lobbied. The Bush administration had been wildly criticized for not being responsive to the needs of the poorest Americans, (Burger, 2008, p. 20). At times an individual just needs help in getting shown the right direction. Isolated in the projects, many like Camellia lack the encouragement and connections to find decent work until a helping hand gives a push or opens a door, (Shipler, 2004, p. 123). To be able to break out of poverty an individual must not be afraid to leave. Personal reaction conclusion Poverty is not something that effects just a certain population; it is non discriminative. The working poor are the heart of America. They are people that we see every day. For those that are living this way, it is important to know that there is a way out. • 8. Importance Of Indissolubility Of Marriage Name: Michelle Kemdjo Ghomsi Instructor: Padmaja Challakere Divorce, remarriage and the Catholic Church The Indissolubility of marriage: Still relevant today? I was born and raised in a conservative catholic family. If I say today that I am more liberal as far as the Catholic doctrine is concerned my mother will probably have a heart attack. My parents have always strongly believed in the Catholic laws and traditions. Indissolubility of marriage was one of the principles I was raised to respect and obey. The Catholic canon law (Can. 1056) stipulates that, the essential properties of marriage are unity and indissolubility, which in Christian marriage obtain a special firmness by reason of the sacrament . This means that, one s a man and a woman get married, there is no possibility to get divorced and worst of all, and they are banned from taking the communion at the mass. I was raised to believe in this solely. Growing up, I met incredible people and I learned so much about life. My strong believe in the indissolubility of marriage started dwindling. With time, I started questioning myself. Is it right for the Catholic Church to keep the remarried or divorced couples from taking the communion? Maintaining this law on the indissolubility of marriage, the Catholic Church does not only force couples to switch to other religions, but it also does not respect and honor its creed which forgiveness and love. Diets impact one s health drastically, and could affect lives in the long run if not taken seriously. From observation of those experimenting with different dietary habits, such as the cleanliness of going vegan or cutting out the carnivorous acts of eating meatby going either vegetarian or piscatorial, they are malnourishing and depriving themselves of the vitamins and proteins an all around diet such as a paleo diet can provide. Health and Fitness magazines boasts about how much cleaner one s body can be if they were to just stop consuming meat and ate only natural vegetables, are neglecting the danger the person can be in if they began to involve themselves in intense physical activity. • 13. Human Relations Model Of Management Introduction Since the turn of the twentieth century a number of management theories have been introduced into our society. These theories give insight into the ways in which organisations are run. Different models of management are adopted depending on whether they rely on adaptability and innovation for survival or whether their central aim is mass production to keep up with an ever increasing demand. The two scenarios described would either adopt a scientific management approach or a human relations model of management. The latter of which will be argued is the most effective method when an organisation is dependent on innovation and creativity for its survival. The principles discussed in his work lay out the foundation for what he believed to be the optimum procedures for creating a highly productive and efficient working environment. However, Taylor does not give a clear description of what is meant by the term scientific management . Another writer on the subject, Robert F Hoxie provides this definition: Scientific management is a system devised by industrial engineers for the purpose of serving the common interests of employers, workmen and society at large through the elimination of avoidable wastes, the general improvement of the processes and methods of production, and the just and scientific distribution of the product (Hoxie, 1915:140). As we can see from the definition given, the underlying theme of this model of management is industrial efficiency. Taylor s goal was to introduce a model that would increase output and decrease waste. One way in which Taylor foreseen greater efficiency within the workplace was through the introduction of standardisation. Taylor (1911: 140) explained in his book: science over rule of thumb; harmony, not discord; cooperation, not individualism; maximum output, in place of restricted output; and the development of each man to his greatest efficiency and prosperity. cooperation not individualism from this statement alone we can see that there ... • 17. Happy Documentary Analysis In Happy by Roko Belic (a 2011 documentary), All I want is to be happy in life was a reoccurring statement from the people in the film. A majority of people in today s world agree with that statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people s happiness. The director of this film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to explain our simple emotion, happiness. The filmmakers really amplified the idea that everyone can become happier. They filmed people from many different cultures around the world, to show that there are no barriers for being happy. Rather than starting the film with an interview from an average American, Happy began with an Indian rickshaw driver sharing his daily lifestyle. Although it may have seemed like a hard, tiring, and anticlimactic lifestyle to the audience, he was happy. The narrator reports, Research shows that he was as happy as the average American. This may seem unrealistic for the audience at first, considering the audience is still discovering this principle that happiness is diverse for other individuals. Especially for an audience member who finds that a majority of their happiness is related with money, this moment in the film may have not been easy for them to comprehend. This part of the film really amplifies the main claim from the director that happiness is mainly influenced by our ecology. The Indian rickshaw driver found most of his happiness when he came home, and interacted with his son. The idea of ecology has a lot to with the social interaction between individuals of the same species, in this case, it was the interaction between the rickshaw driver and his son. Not only did the interaction with his son brighten his mood, but his interaction with his neighbors also brought him to be happy. The film then proceeds to reveal some of the science behind our happiness and how happiness is measured. The film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Wartime Of The Nuremberg Trials I.INTRODUCTION On 8th August, 1945, shortly after the end of World War II in May of 1945, the Allied governments entered into a joint agreement establishing the International Military Tribunal for the purpose of trying those responsible for the war atrocities. Whereas some 5,000 Nazi s were charged with war crimes, the Nuremberg trials were designed specifically to prosecute high ranking Nazi officials with whom the authority for the commission of heinous atrocities rested. The Nuremberg Trials would therefore be marked in history as one of its kind. Prior to its formation, war crimes were limited to the military courts of the individual countries and for the very first time the Nuremberg Trials would mark the inception of the concept of collective guilt as a justification for punishment. The four counts of indictment were: Conspiracy to commit crimes alleged in other counts, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity. This paper seeks to canvass the legacy of the Nuremberg Trial; the legal justifications and procedural innovations that were once controversial and which through the turn of the century have now come to be regarded as a milestone towards the application of principles of international law, establishment of a permanent international criminal court enshrined under the Rome Statute and setting new precedents for the international community. There are several different types of phonics but the two main types are implicit and explicit (Ruddell, 2009). The implicit approach, or analytic, is when the teacher teaches the relation between sounds and letters in the context of the word it is found in. This means you are looking at the whole word and not isolating sounds. The explicit approach, or synthetic, approach is the opposite of the analytic approach. Instead of looking at the word as a whole, the teacher looks at each individual sound (Ruddell, 2009). From what I know I believe that both of these need to be brought into the classroom. It is important for the child to know each sound so they are able to sound out unfamiliar words in their readings but it is also important for them to be able to recognize a word in context so they can identify words easily and quicker. In my experience in classrooms I have noticed the different ways these approaches were used. In my kindergarten placement the teacher usually used the explicit approach. Each day we would concentrate on two or three letters and the sounds they made. We would practice the pronunciation and read a poem or sing a song with the letter in it. They are subliminally sending the message that although, this dress caused commotion it was not important. What is important is that women are getting abused daily without a blink of an eye. There needs to be a change in the society to cause an uproar over events or movements that can protect a life or make the world better, not for an article of clothing that perhaps one person owns and decided to luckily place the right camera filter on at the right time. Society needs to get its priorities in order before some truly horrifying event happens that shakes the world to its core. In keeping with the ransom observe and carefulness the abductors could be calling John Ramsey to offer him advice to give the ransom cash which he and Patsy had been already busy on gathering when the police arrived to their house. That decision by no means came. Then, police immediately suspected that John and Patsy have been somehow concerned in their daughter s disappearance. Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an entirely government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all of its sectors which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASA Administrator Chris Scolese told a congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150 million in stimulus package money to private companies that design, build and service their own rockets. Furthermore, NASA has picked three private companies to act as its International Space Station delivery service through the next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK, and Sierra Nevada Corporation will transport supplies up to the International Space Station and back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most importantly, President Obama announced in his Space Plan that his goal was to restructure NASA to focus on space research and development while reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private corporations. The issue I will be raising is one that might not be familiar to all who reside in California and that is primarily focused around the fragmentation and overall mutilation of areas that keep and protect the species Rana Draytonii, otherwise known as the California Red legged Frog. One of the reasons I raise this issue, is because most importantly these frogs were named the official state amphibian of California via AB 2364 (Patrick McGreevy.). An even greater reason to discuss this dilemma is because they are limited in their size around the Southernmost California residences, whereas they had previously occupied approximately 70% of its former habitat according to environmentalists (Campbell.). My goal is to highlight their ecological value to the state and how the California red legged frog s value is more significant than the fragmentation and intrusion taking place. These red legged frogs are currently listed as endangered, but they are vulnerable to human intrusion by means of erecting buildings, projects for road construction, introduction of a non native species along with habitat fragmentation in areas near where they might usually reside such as near the south Mendocino County and along southern California with populations extending to the Santa Rosa Plateau (Hammerson, Geoffrey). • 38. Screwtape Letter Essay In the Screwtape Letter, by C.S. Lewis, Srewtape insists that all pleasures are created by the Enemy, meaning God, and that demons have not figured out how to create them. It s an idea commonly seen in Christian theology. God brought all things into this world to be good, and those things can and have been corrupted by demons and the lot. What Screwtape is saying is that, God wants people to experience pleasure, and that it is a demon s job to corrupt a person s sense of that pleasure. Screwtape brings up the idea multiple times throughout his letters. He mentions it mainly with talking about love and corrupting Wormwood s human s idea of love. His focus on it seems to show some kind of fascination. Possibly that of envy. Not in the sense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surely if God created all pleasures, then all pleasures are good, and thus, sin cannot exist. However, each person possess free will, and with that free will, must choose a path that brings them to God. Therefore, without some temptations, free will would be rather pointless, as everyone would forcibly be in the grace of God. While that s a possibility, a much more likely reason is presented in the Screwtape Letters. Which is, once again, that demons corrupt that which God has already establish. Screwtape is constantly telling Wormwood how to use and abuse the free will which God has given humans, and even mentions at one point how easy it would be for God to just draw everyone to him, but how it would violate free will. So really, it is a combination of both free will and God punishing those who fall from his path and allow themselves to be controlled by demons. In conclusion, all pleasures were made by God. They were not intended to be sin, however, demons corrupted them into sin, to draw people into their domain. Humans, having free will, are freely influenced off the path to God into that sin, by demons. In Screwtape Letters, Screwtape frequently talks about using pleasures and exploiting free will for Wormwood to ensure he captures the soul of the human he s assigned ... The term successful is a universal term and applies different for every single individual because everyone has different levels of success, some are higher then others and there can be some barriers in the way. There are many stories and evidence that have proven this theme but in the fine details there are many other things that come into play when it comes to becoming successful .... However, when a student wants to attend college after high school, the chances of going to any school of his or her choice can seem unfair and have unequal opportunity to other peers. Unfortunately the idea of being limited to attending certain schools has a big influence in chances of becoming successful. Even though higher educations seems to have a direct path for high wages, the access to college can have reverse effects on intergenerational mobility. By limiting access from someone in a bottom percentile to have the possibility to attend a good college harms their upward mobility. In efforts to help breakdown an understanding of how education affects intergenerational mobility, a study called Mobility reports cards show significant findings. Mobility reports cards were conducted by collecting administrative data from more then thirty million college students in the years of 1999 2013. We obtain rosters of attendance at all Title IV accredited institutions of higher education in the U.S using de identified data from federal income tax returns combined with data from the National Student Loan Data System. We obtain information on students earnings in early adulthood and their parents incomes from tax records. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Transformation Of Genes On The Mitochondrial And... Transformation is a procedure where cells take up foreign DNA from their environment. This can happen in either prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells. A circular self replicating molecule of DNA known as a plasmid transfers genetic information between bacteria enabling the microbes to gain antibiotic resistance as well as the ability to adapt to a new environment. Bacteriaalso have the capability to acquire small pieces (at random) of DNAfrom their environment but this however is said to be inefficient because only a small fraction of cells will uptake DNA and become transformed. Expressions of genes on the plasmid will alter the genotype and phenotype of the cell. Under specific laboratory conditions a cell which is incubated with the plasmid DNA has the ability to absorb the plasmid into its own cytoplasm. Because these natural processes can potentially be modified by scientists, the transformation procedure can be used as a means of treating human diseases to increase the quality of life. Genetic transformation will be assisted with the use of plasmid pGLO which contains four features. Origin of replication (ori), ampicillin resistance gene (bla), arabinose promoter protein (araC) and the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP gene). The Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is extracted from a bioluminescent (encodes fluorescent protein) jellyfish called Aequorea Victoria which glows green when exposed to ultraviolet light. GFP holds many advantages due to its stability and the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
