Reasons For The Decline Of Nokia
What is the Present Factors for Nokia s Decline?
Nokia used to be the world s leading manufacturer of mobile phone. However, there is no industry
could be stable all over the time as there are changes while progression. Nokia fell into a very
difficult position because of the introduction of Apple s iPhone in 2007. There are findings stated
that Nokia was going downhill because of the failure to engage in a timely transformational
response to the competitive innovations of Apple. However, a crisis, typically a negative issue, can
be a positive transformational event if the business firm recognizes a crisis and makes appropriate
changes in its operations to support the positive growth and development (John Juan 2010).To

Death Over Life in Flaubert s Madame Bovary Essay
Death Over Life in Flaubert s Madame Bovary
Often in literature, a character is found that is quite memorable. Never was this more true than
in Flaubert s Madame Bovary. To some, Emma Bovary s action at the end of the novel was
drastic and unnecessary; others believed her death to be the end of the natural progression of the
story. However, Emma s decision to commit suicide was relatively simple, yet came as a last
resort. She had exhausted all the other options she felt were available, and in the end made her plan
based on finances, lost love, and the sheer boredom of her life.
One motivation for Emma s suicide was her financial problems. She spent extravagant amounts of
her husband, Charles , money on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Later] Rodolphe is shown to be a coarse provincial Don Juan, attracted only by Emma s physical
charms (Roe 40). When Emma learned she was just one in a long line of conquests, she was
devastated, emotionally and physically. Her later affair with Leon filled a void in her life, but as
she herself noted, it was not enough. No matter! She was not happy she never had been...nothing
was worth the trouble of seeking it...the sweetest kisses left...only the unattainable desire for a
greater delight (Flaubert 200). As one critic noted, ...the shattering of her Romantic ideals...[caused
her to carry] to the second amour fewer illusions...that Leon had grown tired [still] filled her with
bitterness... (Green 233). The affair with Leon involved many trips to Rouen, and it is interesting to
note that ...the outings to Rouen lose their charm as her love for Leon turns to disgust (Turnell
106). Her affair with Leon ended when it became stagnant, although she was in no less pain than
before.
Of all Emma s reasons to wish for death, disappointment in life and marriage was probably the
strongest contributor. She had expected her life to be like a romance novel, where everyone was
happy and rich; she grew frustrated and angry when her life was ordinary. Emma wanted Charles to
be her Prince Charming, not a toad. Although Charles doted on Emma, almost to the point of
smothering her, she wanted more. She

The Road In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
The name of this book written by Cormac McCarthy, the Road, can always drive the readers into a
misunderstanding that it is a Road style work. However, it is actually a apocalyptic story which
includes bunch of description and discussion about belief, morality and the human nature. It
actually presents how people will act under a extreme terrible situation when the civilizationtotally
does not exist. Actually McCarthy is not the only one who uses a lawless environment to analysis
the humanity. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is also a story which puts the characters in a
raw environment and presents their action. These two works have the similarities in the way they
set up the stories, the type of conflicts and the way they end the stories; and this similarities
actually show how the things described in the stories are commonly deemed, and help the two
stories to support each other s ideas. Differ from the Road, Lord of the Flies is actually a war based
story. However, even though the missions of the writing might be different, both the authors make
similar settings for the story. In the Road, the characters are in the environment where the
resources and the rules no longer exist. In Lord of the Flies, the characters are in an island where
is also out of anything civilized. It might be doubtful that how McCathy is sure his description
under that situation can be confirmed as logical and real, but what is described in Lord of the Flies
can confirm it. More

Police Officers And The Police Officer
The colors red, white, and blue in America represents freedom. When a police officer approaches
a civilian in today s times, those colors mean the absolute worst. With recent police mischief
including shootings, red, white, and blue could mean absolute panic. Americans today feel as if
there is a war with policeofficers. The most common question civilians have, why are innocent
people being killed by police officers? The civic responsibility of a police officeris to serve and
protect citizens while upholding the law. With many recent incidents, civilians no longer feel
safe around authorities. A new policy proposed to congress by Barack Obama is for police officers
to wear body worn cameras, or BWC s. ... nine in ten Americans support the use of cameras on
cops (Boone). Therefore, police officers should be required to wear body worn cameras in order to
have better security, behavior, and evidence for crime scenes.
First off, wearing body worn cameras will provide better security to both police officers and
civilians. In an experiment composed by the University of Cambridge s Institute of Criminology
(IoC), in which police officers in Rialto, California wore cameras as a part of their uniform for one
year., results gathered from the experiment proved to be beneficial. According to the experiment, ...
use of force by officers wearing cameras fell by 59% and reports against officers dropped by 87%...

Cultural intensity is the degree to which members of a unit accept the norms, values, or other
culture con tent associated with the unit. This shows the culture s depth. Organizations with strong
norms promoting a particular value, have intensive cultures, whereas new firms (or those in
transition) have weaker, less intensive cultures. Cultural integration is the extent to which units
throughout an organization share a common culture. This is the culture s breadth. Organizations
with a pervasive dominant culture may be hierarchically controlled and power oriented, such as a
military unit, and have highly inte grated cultures. All employees tend to hold the same cultural
values and norms. What are the pros and cons of management s using the experience curve to
determine strategy? The experience curve suggests that unit production costs decline by some
fixed percentage (commonly 20% 30%) each time the total accumulated volume of production in
units doubles. The actual percentage varies by industry and is based on many variables: the
amount of time it takes a person to learn a new task, scale economies, product and process
improvements, and lower raw materials cost, among others CON: The experience curve of the

On the event, a small, mindless child decides to throw stones and twigs at a fruit bearing tree,
what would that tree do? Would it be able to retaliate? Refuse to bear fruit? It decides to give to
this child, the cream of it s crop, the best of it s fruit. While the child then runs away with his arms
full of the fruithe had just received, he doesn t think much of what he had just witnessed. A lesson
to be learned. In this same way, we witness nature providing us with everything we would need, yet
we don t appreciate it, or understand it as well. You see, while this that child had gotten the fruit, he

We fail to realize there is an important system for everything. This stems from the idea that
every living creature has a purpose. Nature has a fragile balance that needs to be preserved, or
else it would fall quickly. One small change will destroy the basis of that foundation toppling
everything that was done. Our system works in the same way. If we would make that one,
damaging change, everything we built would surely fall. Reminding us that, while we
accomplished so much, we are very much prone to making a mistake that could potentially reverse
everything. Take in case a while ago, nearly half a century, wolves were hunted to near extinction at
Yellowstone National Park to allow the elkpopulation to grow. Over 130 wolves were killed, so
soon Yellowstone was devoid of these canines. The elk population did indeed grow, and it spiraled

How Poetry Makes Nothing Happen
1. Introduction
W.H Auden famously wrote poetry makes nothing happen. Do you think this accurately describes
the political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century and/or the twenty first century?
Explain why you agree or disagree in the case of your chosen poet, justifying your answer with
close reference to your poet s work and its reception and interpretation.
This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and politically. Poetry has
been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception that it serves no purpose. One critic
in particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes nothing happen . However poetry awakens the
reader s eyes and gives an insight to the society in which we live in today, and which has been
before us. As evident in Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique
modernism and twentieth century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The
purpose of this essay is to show that poetry does make something happen and can have
instrumental effects on society, whether it is a poet critiquing society, or simply providing another
interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to be cracked, it is a riddle that makes the reader bring
out their true creativity, which is why I disagree with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing
happen.

Benin Home Chapter 19 Summary
In chapter 19 memories and experiences play a role in transitioning from one place to another.
Chapter 19 starts off with Ishmael transitioning from Benin Home to live with his uncle Tommy
and his family. This transition would seem effortless and simple to the naked eye because Beah is
now connected with a part of his family. However for Ishmael it was more difficult than it would
appear. On page 182 Ishmael describes his first night, I sighed sitting alone on the verandah. I
was no longer nervous, but I missed Benin Home. (Ishmael Beah 182). 1. How do Ishmael s
memories and experiences hold him back from now being happy in his new home and life?

On page 184 he says, A memory of a town we attacked during a school dance had been triggered.
I could hear the terrified cries of teachers and students, could see the blood cover the dance floor.
(184). Also on 190 he describes, Standing next to a tree with red frozen sap on its bark would
bring flashbacks of the many times we executed prisoners by tying them to the trees and
shooting them. Their blood stained the trees and never washed off. (190). While Ishmael has
been rehabilitated certain parts of life now trigger his gruesome memories. Such as getting
firewood with his cousins and seeing the trees with red frozen sap, and being on the dance floor
with Allie. Ishmael while he does still get flashbacks is for the most part fully recovered. In this
chapter the transition to the United States was frustrating for Ishmael. Many people made him
aggravated by the things they said or did. On page 187 he says after his interview to go to the
U.N, I still wondered why the man who had interviewed me had smiled. I meant what I said and it
was not a funny matter. (187). 2.Why does Ishmael become so frustrated with people who are

Sandro Botticelli Research Paper
Sandro Botticelli (1445 1510)
BIOGRAPHY
Sandro Botticelli, short for Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi, was born on the 1st of March 1445 in
The Republic of Florence which is now Italy. As a child he was easily bored in school and was
known for his hyperactivity and love of practical jokes. At about fourteen years of age, he was
withdrawn from his school and became an apprentice. He first worked for Maso Finiguerra as a
goldsmith for 3 years but soon became an apprentice to the artist Fillipo Lippi at around the age of
17. From Fillipo Lippi he learned to paint more intricately and with more detail.
He then worked with Antonio del Pollaiuolo, painting frescoes on Florentine cathedrals and
churches. At around 22 years of age he had his own workshop and was appointed to the
confraternity of Florentine painters in 1472. He then employed Filipino Lippi, son of Fillipo
Lippi as an apprentice. In 1481 it was requested by the Pope that he come to Rome to decorate
the walls of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, which had just been completed. He painted frescoes
of the life of Moses and the temptations of Christ. This was 30 years before Michaelangelo s

Prime Lens Essay
If portrait photography is your niche, then a prime portrait lens is essential! The ideal focal length
for portraiture is 85mm. This will allow you to take half length portraits from a comfortable
distance. Although portraits can be successfully taken with a kit lens, prime lenses offer superior
image quality compared to zoom lenses.
Since a prime lens is generally faster, this will reduce distortion and vignetting. Distortion is a
deformation of the photo, like when there is a noticeable curving or when features of a person or
object are disproportionate. A Vignette Effect, sometimes known as light fall off, is when the outer
edges of a photo are darker in comparison to its center. Sometimes this effect is intentional, to create

Mainly, a filter can save your lens from becoming damaged. It would be far more cost effective if a
filter were to become scratched than your lens! In addition, filters can be indispensable for
enhancing color, reducing reflection, and capturing images in less than perfect lighting conditions.
Filters come in two different types: round or square. Round filters screw directly onto the DSLR
camera s lens thread. Round filters are the most common type as they can fit onto any lens that it
matches in size. Round filters are more convenient because there is little set up. You just screw it
onto the lens, and you are ready to go! A square filter also attaches to the camera lens, but in a
different manner. A card slot holder is first threaded onto the lens front. Then the square filter is
fitted into a slot on the filter holder. Multiple slots allow for stacking filters and creating unique
effects. The set up, however, takes effort and a tripod is often necessary to successfully pull off
shots.

Categorize Short Story By Eileen Chang Summary
Once Upon a Time: Folktale Elements in Eileen Chang s Short Stories
Eileen Chang was a Chinese novelist who was known for her stories depicting 20th century
Chinese life, a time and place in which different cultures collided. Instead of depicting a
perspective aligned with either modern or traditional outlooks, Chang s work manages to reject
blanket opinions of whether one is better than the other and illustrates a world far more nuanced
and that reflects the mixing of worlds and ideas happening in the modern era. One of the most
prominent ways she does so is through the use of folk story themes: Chang uses folk elements to
destroy and to satirize dichotomies that the reader may rely on to categorize her stories, in effect
depicting a more nuanced China in which opposites work together.
In Aloeswood Incense, Chang uses folk tale elements to highlight the falseness of the world that ...

addition, the narrator observes that Chuanqing [seems] to have dozed off (79). This subjectivity of
the narrator distances the reader from the story, but at the same time Chang s focus on Chuanqing s
inner thoughts pulls the reader into his mind. The effect of these contrasting themes is that the
reader is able to criticize Chuanqing s choices but also to empathize with him, reflecting a balance
between the traditional judging of anyone who challenges the social order, as seen in Lu Xun s

The Best Years Of Our Lives Analysis
After World War II ended, people expected life to return back to normal immediately, but this
was not the case. Veterans came home to their sweethearts and many could not ease into the
previous lives without thinking about war. Jobs and homes were not easy to come by, which is
why the film The Best Years of Our Lives does a fantastic job of recreating the American society.
The movie was filmed in 1946, thus making it realistic. The Best Years of Our Lives reflects the
post war era because the American society was ready to move forward with their lives, but ex
servicemen were having difficulty transitioning back into their past lives. This film follows three
men named Al Stevenson, Fred Derry and Homer Parrish as they return to Boone City and back to
the arms of their eager family. Like many veterans after the war, many were anxious and could not
reconnect with their family and loved ones immediately due to the high intensity events they
experienced back in Europe or in the Pacific. For example, Homer served on an aircraft carrier in
the Pacific that sunk, which burned off his arms and left him with metal prosthetics; this made him

Homer s prosthetics made him feel vulnerable, but his fiancee proved to him that love is more

California Drought Analysis
Did you know that in California water is so scarce that farmers are making more money selling
water their supply Than planting food? As we all know California has been experiencing a
drought for several years now, the current drought started in 2011. California is changing a lot of
their rules and regulations to help conserve water during this period of time. Different things that
is happening is that the way people use water has been changed, the statewide water conservation
dropping below eighteen percent in August 2016, and five million out of fifteen million dollars
was given to private well owners and small water systems. California s water reservation is
playing a big role in their current drought situation. California has made rules against water
wasting that block, stifle or threaten homeowners from reducing or eliminating the watering of
vegetation or lawns during a declared drought emergency in violation of existing law. They started
a new regulation they go by, they now have to have monthly water checks for their urban water
suppliers. All of this is because if not taken into action this could affect 6.5 million Californians for

helped initiate integration throughout America. The film Soul of the Game does not go into all of
the details regarding his career on the Brooklyn Dodgers, but rather it depicts his life and choices
leading up to his career in the Major Leagues. This film portrays important themes such as
segregation, perseverance, and doubt, and it applies to history in the beginning of the story of
Jackie Robinsonand how America has gotten to where it is now. Although the court case of
Plessy v. Ferguson declared segregation to be legal as long as things were equal in 1896,
baseball had already done this about ten years prior. There was a creation of the Negro League in
the 1920s through the 1940s so that African Americans could have the same opportunities and
white players even though they were not allowed on any of the major league teams. Jackie
Robinson was a rookie player on the Kansas City Monarchs, a Negro League team, and being along
side Satchel Paige, no one even noticed who he was. According to the reading in Jackie Robinson
and Race in America by Thomas Zeiler, Satchel Paige was the first negro player to be inducted
into the Hall of Fame and he possibly believed to be one of the best pitchers of all time. Another
comrade of Robinson s during his time in the Negro League would be Josh Gibson, one of the
greatest catchers and hitters of all time. The owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers,

African American Superiority
When African Americans first arrived in American colonies in 1619, religion and wealth were
the determining factors of superiority. Most labor was performed by indentured servants of
European decent at this time. However as immigrant arrivals slowed and the need for labor
increased, African American slaves were shipped over and considered to be a never ending
supply of labor. Colonial law and statues began to use the word White opposed to Englishmen or
Christians to show superiority. Lower class Europeans thus obtained more rights and had access to
better job opportunities as they were replaced by the inferior African Americans. At this time
African Americans were believed to be a different species while Natives were considered to be

Difference Between Big Mama Thornton s Performance In...
The first difference between Big Mama Thornton s performance in the video of Hound Dog and
Elvis Presley s is that Big Mama Thornton stays remotely in the same place the whole time. The
little movement she does do consists of her rocking her body and move her arms, but she does not
move far away from the original spot she starts in.Which gives the impression that it is a more
serious situation for her. The meaning behind the lyrics Mama Thornton sings is about a man who
sneaks around her home and wants things from her, but she wants nothing to do with him. Then,
while Elvis is performing he is constantly moving around and dancing. This gives the impression
that he is having more fun with it and the lyrics are not as deep to him. This could

Holistic Medicine Essays
Holistic Medicine
Holistic Medicine, commonly referred to as Alternative Medicine , is a vast and rapidly growing
new scientific field. It is derived mainly from ancient, traditional methods of healing that have often
been practiced in the East for centuries. These include a variety of techniques from herbal healing to
acupuncture to homeopathy to energy channeling. Due to the large number of methods that are
covered by the term, there are various definitions of Holistic Medicine. However, all literature seems
to agree that Alternative Medicine, is exactly what the name suggests: an alternative approach to
healing and medicine. It is a more personal move toward health care, which attempts to connect the
mind, body and spirit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An increasing number of medical schools are now offering courses in alternative medicine for their
students, and some hospitals already have alternative medicine departments. The availability of
healers and doctors practicing holistic medicine has also increased in recent years, and more and
more people are educating themselves in these new fields. In fact, the World Health Organization
estimates that between 65 and 80 percent of the world s population (about 3 billion people) rely on
traditional medicine as their primary form of health care. Because many of the treatments of
alternative medicine do not adhere to the principles of conventional medicine, whether or not to
allow practice of these techniques in the United States is a major concern of the medical
community today. The Food and Drug Administration is the decision making body of issues such
as this and more often than not, does not approve many of these practices. Due to the fact that
holistic medicine sometimes contradicts the fundamentals of biomedicine, health care regulation
boards such as the FDA find it difficult to accept many of these treatments. Because the Western
world is so unfamiliar with these techniques it is only natural for medical community to often
disprove these methods. However, as more and more doctors discover the limitations of

Starbucks Company Analysis
SYNOPSIS Starbucks Corporation, originally founded in 1971, but purchased by Howard Schultz
in 1987, is the market leader in selling gourmet coffee (Starbucks, 2008). Starbuck s main objective
is to establish itself as the most respected and recognized coffee brand in the world (Fact Sheet,
2008). Starbucks has accomplished this objective and experienced much success through their
competitive strategy of clustering several stores within the same community and through their
distinctive competencies of roasting and selling the quality coffee while providing high quality
customer service. The question is, can Starbucks continue their market share growth with rising
competitors? Should they focus more on their international operations?... Show more content on

Fair trade coffee also bypasses the coffee trader, therefore giving the producer higher profits. Fair
trade coffee growers are guaranteed a minimum price of $1.26 per pound for their coffee. If the
world coffee prices rise above this floor price, farmers will be paid a small premium $0.05 per
pound above market price (Coffee Research Institute, 2006). This contributes to helping coffee
farmers stay out of debt and provides some stability for both producers and sellers of coffee to an
unstable market (Coffee Research Institute, 2006). Environmentally, the main negative impacts
from coffee production include habitat conversion, soil degradation, pesticide use, and declines in
water quality (WWF, 2005). The most serious impact of coffee cultivation continues to be the
conversion of natural forest areas into flatlands in order to plant coffee. Unfortunately, a driving
force of habitat conversion is the increasing market for high grade specialty coffees (WWF, 2005).
Many companies, however, like Starbucks, work with local farmers to ensure the best economic
return and least detrimental environmental impacts as possible. It is true that recent trends in the
coffee industry point to a decline in demand and sales revenues; in general, coffee

Fountains in the Rain
AKIO S JOURNEY The short story of Fountains in the Rain written by Yukio Mishima is about a
young boy who is trying to break up with his girlfriend. In the story the young couple finds them

Mishima Yukio is arguably still the most famous writer modern Japan has produced (Enotes 1).
Akio, the main character, starts off the story carrying his girlfriend through the rain in a sack.

Akio had no idea that it was all a fake and she did not even here him say his famous line its time

Essay On Why Cats Are Better Pets Than Dogs
Cats are not better pets than dogs. Have you ever had that intriguing question about whether you
should get a dog or a cat as your new family member. Here are some reasons why you should
always choose to adopt a new dog, not a new cat. You will get more exercise from owning a dog.
When I go outside to bike, often my mom will follow me to get our dogexercise, but this technique
will help my mom in the long run, because even if her motive is to wear my dog out, she s also
getting exercise and getting healthier. Dogingtonpost says it is recommended that you walk
your dog at least 15 minutes, twice a day. Mayoclinic says to aim for at least 30 minutes of
physical activity every day. These two times equal each other so if you walk your dog for the
necessary amount each day, then you yourself will also get the necessary amount of exercise
daily. Dogs are a lot easier to train. When dogs were first bred as wild animals they would follow
their pack leader, when domesticated their leader becomes their human. When you train a dog it
becomes bonded to you, but cats, not so much. Cats are more independent when it comes to
relationships. Because cats have no notion of duty, service, or pack behaviour. In other words,
doing something for the sake of something else, or someone else, than themselves. Says Nuno

Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness Of Government Between 1530 and
1539
The most influential and controversial thesis concerning Cromwell s role in the revolution in
government in the 1530s was Elton s The Tudor Revolution in Government . In this work, Elton
asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . Elton argued that
Cromwell seized the unique opportunity presented by Henry VIII s martial problems to turn
England into a unified, independent sovereign state, ruled by a constitutional monarch through
national and bureaucratic institutions. This is certainly true to an extent however it could be

The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk, seem
indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts obviously take
responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell.
The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal
government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come
from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s
downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers
were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women.
The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the
management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most
doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it.
Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy
Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of the haphazard medieval
Council into a more formally constituted board of government; and by the promotion of the
principal secretary (himself) to get himself appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister.
Rather than judging it to be part of Cromwell s plan to

The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay
The Real Housewives of Britain
Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel
through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was
an idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the
Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her
husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where
glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the
reason she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his
estranged fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House ,
written through Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding
with Patmore and the women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The
Angel , an extreme version of today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her
side. She has a duty to be perfect that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting
in his way. The Angel in the House unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of
women in this time. It also allows for the reader to identify with Patmore on this issue.

Black Gold is the other name for petroleum, the reason being, it is black when it is extracted, and

Airline Deregulation Essay
On October 24, 1978, President Carter signed into law the Airline Deregulation Act. The purpose
of the law was to effectively get the federal government out of the airline business. By allowing the
airlines to compete for their customers travel dollars, was the thinking, that fares would drop and an
increased number of routeswould spring up.
Expected Results
The results of airline deregulation speak for themselves. Since the government got out of the
airline business, not only has there been a drop in prices and an increase in routes, there has also
been a remarkable increase in airline service and safety. Airline deregulation should be seen as the

A drop in fares has been the best result of the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. It has been the
impetus for the increase in the number of flights, which in turn has spurred a drive for greater
safety in airlines. But with the current airline market, this development has given us one negative.
Since ticket prices have dropped to new lows, the realities of an industry which operates on such
economies of scale dictates that only a few competitors have the capacity to operate within the
market. This is not the desired effect of either political side on this issue, but it is an economic
necessity with the environment that has been created, very similar to that of public utilities and
phone companies.
The Best of Both Worlds
The U.S. airline market admittedly operates in an oligarchal fashion. But is this not the best
policy for air travel? The success of the large carriers has enabled a drop in fares, and while entry
into the market is difficult, it is not impossible. Upstarts such as Southwest Airlines are able to find
a market niche and exploit it into profitability. Maybe benevolent oligarchy should be the term...

Martin Bell comes from a position that is anti war, and knows that the influence of journalists
could be for better or worse, and without a doubt playing a huge role but that does not mean they
are exclusive from the society. This is not to back one side, or faction or people against another, it
is to make a point that we in the press, and especially the television which is its most powerful
division, do not stand apart from the world (Bell 1997, p. 8). To be objective as Phillip Hammond
cited by David Loyn (2007, p. 5) comprises three distinct, refined but interrelated concepts of
truthfulness and acuracy, neutrality, and emotional detachment , or in Martin Bell s term to be
dispassionate, and it is exactly this reason, that Bell have chose not to continue the traditional
thoughts of journalism, for he is human first, journalist second.
Bell s view was not fully appreciated and acknowledged, as there are various critics from scholars
and journalists alike. One of which is Wilhelm Kempf, he critiqued that Journalism of Attachment
gives the journalism too much authority, somewhat making them a judge to decide what is right or
wrong. It seems that Martin Bell s approach to conflicts and problems is to reduce it to a moral
problem, and that is one of the major underlying problems with it as he undermines his own
professional authority by

The Role Of Police Women In Law Enforcement
The role of police women has come a long way since they were finally acknowledged into the field

for a number of reasons. There have been many guidelines put in place, but female officer s still
face discrimination that discourage them away or hinder their promotion opportunities. Police
departments are under major pressure from the public to hire more female officers. The
literature review shows a female officers struggle in gaining success in a male dominated career.
Law enforcement has been considered as a man s job and now that women have proven they are
capable of the job, police men are not as accepting. Research shows that police men s views on
women in the police force are resilient to the fact that women are able to perform all tasks of the

Sir Robert Peel is known for his achievement in passing the Metropolitan Police Act in 1829,
which led to the establishment of the first modern police force. He believed it should be defined
as a full time and uniformed officer with a main purpose of patrolling the city. He would only
select officers that fit a certain mold, which meant they had to be trained and disciplined. During
the creation of this police force, women were not permitted to take part. In the mid 1800 s is
when women were first actively employed into the police force. But even then they were given
administrative duties or assigned to specialized bureaus, mostly working with juveniles and
children. During the great depression there were huge changes on how employment was viewed,
because of this women s employment suffered. A married woman with a job was seen as
dishonorably taking away employment from a man trying to financially care for his family.
(Milton, 1972) By tradition, women were viewed as the caretaker of children and the role of
taking care of the house while the man is to be the main source of income.

The Man Who Took The Prize By Caroline Alexander
From George Washington to Odysseus, heroes come in a variety of forms. In The Man Who
Took the Prize written by Caroline Alexander, Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, had the
goal of becoming the first to travel to the North Pole. However, after failing his mission, as Robert
Peary had beat him, he began racing for ...the most prestigious prize the world of exploration still
offered: the South Pole(Alexander). With this, he gathered his men and headed out for one of the
most obscure areas of the world preparing to enter a whole new world. And after suffering through
many hardships and complications on his adventure, Amundsen finally achieved his goal of being
the first to reach the South Pole. Thus, with his journey to the South Pole,... Show more content on

Amundsen was ...a man of towering ambition, prey to the same dangerous dreams and impulses
that drive all explorers to risk their lives in wild places (Alexander). The explorer had the
burning passion for adventure, and was ambitious enough to risk his own life for it a common
trait heroes possess. Without ambitious, heroes would be left cowardly, unsure, and unable to
complete their task to reach their goal as they do not have the driving force of determination and
ambition to pull them through. Thus, with Amundsen s naturally born interest and fiery
ambition for exploring, he was willing to put his life on the line in order in order to reach his
end goal of being the first to have traveled to the South Pole. Not only did the Norwegian display
ambition, he also was strategic and skillful throughout his exploration to the Arctic. BГёrge
Ousland, another Norwegian explorer, emphasized about how Amundsen ...always tried to learn
from others. He identified the problem, then looked to solve the problem (Alexander). Skill and
strategy is a vital trait for heroes as confronting a problem without a proper plan would end in
tragedy making one seem foolish and incapable. Therefore, with Amundsen being able to solve his
conflicts through careful thinking and by applying his knowledge, he proved to possess skill and a
strong understanding of strategic planning. Lastly, Amundsen seized compassion. He became
infatuated with exploration ever since reading about it as a boy, [and] has been fascinated by
Englishmen John Franklin s disastrous search for the Northwest Passage (Alexander), illustrating
Amundsen s early interest in his hobby. This early interest quickly grew, and soon drove him to
begin his adventure towards the South Pole. His compassion drew him on, and soon after fulfilling
his lifelong dream, Amundsen wrote in his diary... My boyhood

Tutorial # 3
Enlightenment was a prevalent topic in the 18th century. In 1784 Kant, Immanuel wrote An Answer
to the Question: What is Enlightenment?. In which Kant sheds light on the distinction between
public and private reason using many different instances. Kant proposes that public use of freedom
is essential for enlightenment, but says the private reason is not as useful as public. Similarly, this
paper will argue that public freedom can more effectively lead to enlightenment, but private
reasoning can also lead to enlightenment using present day examples, comparing past and present
circumstances and indulging into the outcome of both private and public reasons.
Kant explains, Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self imposed immaturity. Immaturity is
the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (Kant, 35). Although
immaturity in today s linguistic language is thought of as being irresponsible or childish, Kant
however uses immaturity to describe the incapability to be able to think on your own. Additionally
Kant explains that an immature person becomes so dependent on others to make his decisions that
he overlooks thinking for himself. Kant uses an analogy of restrained animals, like cattle and how
they will not dare take a single step without go cart to which they

Stereotypes In The Fall Of A City
In the short story, The Fall of a City, by Alden Nowlan, Teddy is a young boy has many dreams
and hopes for his future, but his biggest goal is sharterred by his guardians. Moreover, he should
follow his dreams and that his dreams should remain valid till the day he achieves his dreams. It
is also important to pursue the personality and dreams children want to take with them into their
future life. Firstly, stereotypical behaviour of adults in particular can influence a child s future
decisions, but children should have their own dreams and goals to pursue so they get the life
they deserve. Paper dolls and doll houses. An eleven year old boy! (Alden Nowlan, 133). We see

His uncle pointed a warning finger. Don t get saucy now, mister. I know paper dolls when I see
em (133). This tells us how children change their dreams when they are discourged by others,
especially adults. Furthermore, children pursue what they have been taught and the kind of
personalities they contract with every day, which can also influence and destroy their inner
intentions and dreams. For example, if a child has strict parents and his parents force him into
being a engineer but the child wants to be a construction worker. Therefore, parents want you to
have a good and high paying job, but it is more important to have a job you like. The person will
regret making a choice they were forced to make when they were a child. Lastly, people tend to be
better at something they like, than at things they do to follow traditions of their society. Through
the square below rode squadrons of lancers, dragoons and hussar, batteries of horse artillery;
behind them marched regiments of infantry (130). Teddy is more deeply connected to his

Monetary Policies Of The Bank Of England Essay
Given the power to formulate and implement monetary policies, the Bank of England (the Bank)
declared its independence in 1997, taking charge of maintaining price stability and supporting the
economic policy of Her Majesty s Government, including its objectives for economic growth and
employment. In the following sections, the paper will attempt to assess the Bank work and its
policies that has been carried out during the economic downturn.
As Mizen (2003:196) noted, during the period from 1970s to early 1990s, a series of monetary
policies that introduced by the British government turned out to be unsuccessful the inflation was
out of control. The underperforming monetary policies provoked the reform in 1997, after which
the new UK monetary policy framework was established according to Bank England Act 1998,
giving independence to the Bank as well as assigning responsibility of monetary policy to the newly
created Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
The Retail Prices Index Excluding Mortgage Payments (RPIX) was to be the new goal and the
inflation target was set at 2.5% with 1% tolerance range in 1997. That measurement, changed to
the Harmonized Inflation Consumer Index (HICP) with target at 2% with 1% tolerance range in
2003 (Brown, 2003). Chart 1 shows that the inflation rates predicted by the HM Treasury during
1997 2002 and 2003 2006 averaged around 2.5621% and 1.9825%, falling within the tolerance
range of the inflation targets with less volatility. In addition,

It was just another ordinary Thursday for my mother in the small town of Oratorio de
Concepcion in rural El Salvador. Just like any other eight year old in 1980, she got up, brushed
her teeth, quickly pulled her knotted hair into a high ponytail, and left for school. The short
distance she walked was filled with the sounds of worn out shoes hitting the dirt road as children
ran by excited to start a new day at the town s only elementary school. After hours of sitting in a
classroom surrounded by grey concrete bricks, once the last bell rang, she would wait at the
entrance gate for her younger brother and cousin. They walked back down the dirt road together
while kicking a deflated soccer ball to their home where their grandmother would be waiting for
them with a little snack. My mother, her older... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The threat to us is medium for a few reasons. We will patent our trimmer, which means that they
will have to start with our product, and then develop modifications, to avoid patent infringement.
Both companies current products use a different kind of technology. They are grinders and do not
have any quick detection apparatus . While Dremel Tools has been in the pet trimming market for
some time, they only modified the grinder used for woodworking and other craft projects. This
would be a departure from their core competency. This is the only venture by Oster Company.
They a relatively new to the market, It isn t likely that they will put more R and D dollars into a

Threat from Buyers
There is no threat to us from buyers. Pets must have their nails trimmed on a regular basis, or
they can suffer pain and / or health issue. The owners of these pets are responsible to maintain
their pets nails. With the addition of our safe, reliable, easy to use product added to the market,
buyers have all of the options they could want. At our price point, they would not consider creating
a similar product. It is an infrequent purchase for them. We will also establish a blog site to give

What Are The Events In The Life Of Babe Ruth
The Life Of Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth, born George Ruth, Jr., is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all
time. Everybody knows how great a hitter Babe was and how he virtually invented the home
run. Not everybody knows how great of a pitcher Babe was, even though he was one of the best
left handed pitchers of all time. Babe had a 92 and 44 record, 67.6%, and a 2.24 career earned run
average in 163 games pitched. Not many career .342 hitters that averaged a home run every 11.8 at
bats can say that.
George Ruth, Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 6, 1895, son of George Herman
Ruth, Sr. and Kate Ruth. George took the name of Herman at his confirmation ... Show more

Babe Ruth. At first George thought the name, Babe, was a joke, but after a while it became like a
proper name, and everybody called him Babe.
After an impressive showing in the International League, Babe and the rest of the Oriole team were
put up for sale. The Boston Red Sox bought Babe and he saw his first major league action on July
11,1914, as he took the mound against the Cleveland Naps. Babe ended up winning the game 4 3
after pitching seven innings and letting up only three runs on five hits. The Red Sox sent
Ruth to the International League to play on the Providence team, to get some more experience. At
Providence, Ruth had a record of 11 wins and 2 loses. On
September 5, Ruth won a game 9 0, only letting up one hit, but more significantly he hit his first and
only minor league home run.
The Red Sox brought Ruth back up after the Providence team won the pennant and Ruth pitched in
one game without decision. While in Boston, Ruth almost always went to Landers coffee shop and
his usual waitress was a girl named Helen Woodford. During breakfast one morning Ruth looked
up at Helen and said, How about you and me getting married, hon? After thinking it over for a
couple of minutes, Helen accepted his proposal. After the baseball season,
Babe and Helen got married in St. Paul s Church, Ellicott City, Maryland, on
October 17,1914. Helen Woodford Ruth stayed out of the public

Italian Opera vs. French Opera
According to R. Wagner opera does not mean so much a musical work, as a musical, poetical,
and spectacular work all at once; opera is the work par excellence, to the production of which all
the arts are necessary (Sutherland, 1). Opera starts not with music but with its literary source (story
or plot), whether it be history, biography, fiction, or mythology in the form of poem, play, drama,
novel, or original libretto (Knapp 6). Operais a combination of mangled drama, the singers, the
musicand many different arts (Knapp, 3). An opera is not an opera without the music. The musical
representation uplifts the words and adds magic to an opera (Knapp 3). The two major components
of an opera are the human singers and the orchestra.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the French Opera was totally different from the Italian opera. In the French opera the
instruments were more of a focus than the singers. The drama was spoken rather than sung. It
was performed on a tired stage, the high as being reserved for paradise (and the singers), the
middle one for earth, and lowest one for hell (Demuth 4). An operatic a resource that was often
overlooked, was dancing. In the French Opera singing aspect and the orchestra aspect are on the
same level as dancing. Dancing isn t really a major part of the Italian opera (Knapp 10). French
Opera was extremely popular, but only to the French. It wasn t as popular as German opera or
Italian opera. This was mainly because in the French Opera the drama came first and the music
came second. The French language was notoriously difficult to sing properly because of its lack
of strong accents (Knapp 201). To the French, words and actions were far more important than the
music so the composers have really allowed the orchestra to overpower the voice and assume the
dominant role in the opera (Knapp 202). In the French operas you would never see the singing
overwhelming the action. At its best, the French Opera offers the unity of music, drama, and
spectacle the art seeks but seldom attains (Knapp 202). It is live, it is deep and it has something

The Dangers Of Internet Monitoring And The Internet Privacy
In 2013, 71% of the US population over the age of three used the internet. Our everyday lives are
typically filled with technology and internet, but how much of it is being monitored by the
government, and how does it affect our privacy? Our entire lives are completely wrapped around
internet, all the way from posting what you ate on Instagram to paying your bills through
technological systems, such as PayPal. As the internetbecomes an almost necessary part of life,
privacybecomes even more likely to be violated and be misused by crooks or other immoral
business corporations. This topic obviously deals with legal issues and normalities, bringing up
how the issue of securityshould be addressed by the government with the least amount of privacy
invasion. There are many who say that there needs to be a lot more government monitoring and
tighter security, while others say that the government and other internet securities need to back
away completely and keep out. On the topic of there being even more government monitoring, we
need to look at how internet usage is monitored in the first place. The article by M. Kerner (8/24
/17)about the internet security vendor Versive, shows us exactly what we need to know. First, we
need a basic understanding about internet security monitoring, and why it s needed. Internet
Monitoring is needed due to the risk of potential threats of terrorism, online identity theft, and other
malicious and illegal deeds. Now, they way internet attacks

  • 3. Death Over Life in Flaubert s Madame Bovary Essay Death Over Life in Flaubert s Madame Bovary Often in literature, a character is found that is quite memorable. Never was this more true than in Flaubert s Madame Bovary. To some, Emma Bovary s action at the end of the novel was drastic and unnecessary; others believed her death to be the end of the natural progression of the story. However, Emma s decision to commit suicide was relatively simple, yet came as a last resort. She had exhausted all the other options she felt were available, and in the end made her plan based on finances, lost love, and the sheer boredom of her life. One motivation for Emma s suicide was her financial problems. She spent extravagant amounts of her husband, Charles , money on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [Later] Rodolphe is shown to be a coarse provincial Don Juan, attracted only by Emma s physical charms (Roe 40). When Emma learned she was just one in a long line of conquests, she was devastated, emotionally and physically. Her later affair with Leon filled a void in her life, but as she herself noted, it was not enough. No matter! She was not happy she never had been...nothing was worth the trouble of seeking it...the sweetest kisses left...only the unattainable desire for a greater delight (Flaubert 200). As one critic noted, ...the shattering of her Romantic ideals...[caused her to carry] to the second amour fewer illusions...that Leon had grown tired [still] filled her with bitterness... Her affair with Leon ended when it became stagnant, although she was in no less pain than before. Of all Emma s reasons to wish for death, disappointment in life and marriage was probably the strongest contributor. She had expected her life to be like a romance novel, where everyone was happy and rich; she grew frustrated and angry when her life was ordinary. Emma wanted Charles to be her Prince Charming, not a toad. Although Charles doted on Emma, almost to the point of smothering her, she wanted more. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Road In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding The name of this book written by Cormac McCarthy, the Road, can always drive the readers into a misunderstanding that it is a Road style work. However, it is actually a apocalyptic story which includes bunch of description and discussion about belief, morality and the human nature. It actually presents how people will act under a extreme terrible situation when the civilizationtotally does not exist. Actually McCarthy is not the only one who uses a lawless environment to analysis the humanity. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is also a story which puts the characters in a raw environment and presents their action. These two works have the similarities in the way they set up the stories, the type of conflicts and the way they end the stories; and this similarities actually show how the things described in the stories are commonly deemed, and help the two stories to support each other s ideas. Differ from the Road, Lord of the Flies is actually a war based story. However, even though the missions of the writing might be different, both the authors make similar settings for the story. In the Road, the characters are in the environment where the resources and the rules no longer exist. In Lord of the Flies, the characters are in an island where is also out of anything civilized. It might be doubtful that how McCathy is sure his description under that situation can be confirmed as logical and real, but what is described in Lord of the Flies can confirm it. More ... When a police officer approaches a civilian in today s times, those colors mean the absolute worst. With recent police mischief including shootings, red, white, and blue could mean absolute panic. Americans today feel as if there is a war with policeofficers. The most common question civilians have, why are innocent people being killed by police officers? • 9. How Poetry Makes Nothing Happen 1. Introduction W.H Auden famously wrote poetry makes nothing happen. Do you think this accurately describes the political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century and/or the twenty first century? Explain why you agree or disagree in the case of your chosen poet, justifying your answer with close reference to your poet s work and its reception and interpretation. This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and politically. Poetry has been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception that it serves no purpose. One critic in particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes nothing happen . However poetry awakens the reader s eyes and gives an insight to the society in which we live in today, and which has been before us. As evident in Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique modernism and twentieth century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The purpose of this essay is to show that poetry does make something happen and can have instrumental effects on society, whether it is a poet critiquing society, or simply providing another interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to be cracked, it is a riddle that makes the reader bring out their true creativity, which is why I disagree with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing happen. 2. • 17. Categorize Short Story By Eileen Chang Summary Once Upon a Time: Folktale Elements in Eileen Chang s Short Stories Eileen Chang was a Chinese novelist who was known for her stories depicting 20th century Chinese life, a time and place in which different cultures collided. Instead of depicting a perspective aligned with either modern or traditional outlooks, Chang s work manages to reject blanket opinions of whether one is better than the other and illustrates a world far more nuanced and that reflects the mixing of worlds and ideas happening in the modern era. One of the most prominent ways she does so is through the use of folk story themes: Chang uses folk elements to destroy and to satirize dichotomies that the reader may rely on to categorize her stories, in effect depicting a more nuanced China in which opposites work together. In Aloeswood Incense, Chang uses folk tale elements to highlight the falseness of the world that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Aloeswood Incense, the story is introduced by the narrator inviting the reader to listen to his or her tale, as if the story is being told orally. This theme is reinforced later when the narrator switches from present to past tense, and cannot decide the age of the story s protagonist. In addition, the narrator observes that Chuanqing [seems] to have dozed off (79). This subjectivity of the narrator distances the reader from the story, but at the same time Chang s focus on Chuanqing s inner thoughts pulls the reader into his mind. The effect of these contrasting themes is that the reader is able to criticize Chuanqing s choices but also to empathize with him, reflecting a balance between the traditional judging of anyone who challenges the social order, as seen in Lu Xun s Diary of a Madman, and the more modern exploration of the self as a reflection of the surrounding ... The film Soul of the Game does not go into all of the details regarding his career on the Brooklyn Dodgers, but rather it depicts his life and choices leading up to his career in the Major Leagues. This film portrays important themes such as segregation, perseverance, and doubt, and it applies to history in the beginning of the story of Jackie Robinsonand how America has gotten to where it is now. You will get more exercise from owning a dog. When I go outside to bike, often my mom will follow me to get our dogexercise, but this technique will help my mom in the long run, because even if her motive is to wear my dog out, she s also getting exercise and getting healthier. Dogingtonpost says it is recommended that you walk your dog at least 15 minutes, twice a day. Mayoclinic says to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. These two times equal each other so if you walk your dog for the necessary amount each day, then you yourself will also get the necessary amount of exercise daily. Dogs are a lot easier to train. When dogs were first bred as wild animals they would follow their pack leader, when domesticated their leader becomes their human. When you train a dog it becomes bonded to you, but cats, not so much. Cats are more independent when it comes to relationships. Because cats have no notion of duty, service, or pack behaviour. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women. The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it. Since ticket prices have dropped to new lows, the realities of an industry which operates on such economies of scale dictates that only a few competitors have the capacity to operate within the market. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was written in order to end discrimination in various fields based on sex, religion, race, color, or national origin, in the area of employment. The drawback of this act was that it did not include any prohibition on gender discrimination in public education and federally assisted programs.Title IX was created in an ... The problem with the law was its proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on activities for boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders but are dominated by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far greater than the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn t being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to operate. This issue makes it almost impossible to be proportional so only 20% of all high schools and universities are technically in compliance with Title IX requirements (New Developments Concerning Title ... Nevertheless law enforcement still struggles to hire and retain female officers for a number of reasons. There have been many guidelines put in place, but female officer s still face discrimination that discourage them away or hinder their promotion opportunities. Police departments are under major pressure from the public to hire more female officers. The literature review shows a female officers struggle in gaining success in a male dominated career. Law enforcement has been considered as a man s job and now that women have proven they are capable of the job, police men are not as accepting. Research shows that police men s views on women in the police force are resilient to the fact that women are able to perform all tasks of the job. This paper will discuss what obstacles women have faced in the police role and also provide recommendations to help hire and retain these female officers. Literature Review Sir Robert Peel is known for his achievement in passing the Metropolitan Police Act in 1829, which led to the establishment of the first modern police force. He believed it should be defined as a full time and uniformed officer with a main purpose of patrolling the city. He would only select officers that fit a certain mold, which meant they had to be trained and disciplined. During the creation of this police force, women were not permitted to take part. In the mid 1800 s is when women were first actively employed into the police force. But even then they were given administrative duties or assigned to specialized bureaus, mostly working with juveniles and children. During the great depression there were huge changes on how employment was viewed, because of this women s employment suffered. A married woman with a job was seen as dishonorably taking away employment from a man trying to financially care for his family. (Milton, 1972) By tradition, women were viewed as the caretaker of children and the role of taking care of the house while the man is to be the main source of income. Tutorial # 3 Enlightenment was a prevalent topic in the 18th century. In 1784 Kant, Immanuel wrote An Answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment?. In which Kant sheds light on the distinction between public and private reason using many different instances. Kant proposes that public use of freedom is essential for enlightenment, but says the private reason is not as useful as public. Similarly, this paper will argue that public freedom can more effectively lead to enlightenment, but private reasoning can also lead to enlightenment using present day examples, comparing past and present circumstances and indulging into the outcome of both private and public reasons. Kant explains, Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self imposed immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (Kant, 35). Although immaturity in today s linguistic language is thought of as being irresponsible or childish, Kant however uses immaturity to describe the incapability to be able to think on your own. Additionally Kant explains that an immature person becomes so dependent on others to make his decisions that he overlooks thinking for himself. Kant uses an analogy of restrained animals, like cattle and how they will not dare take a single step without go cart to which they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monetary Policies Of The Bank Of England Essay Given the power to formulate and implement monetary policies, the Bank of England (the Bank) declared its independence in 1997, taking charge of maintaining price stability and supporting the economic policy of Her Majesty s Government, including its objectives for economic growth and employment. In the following sections, the paper will attempt to assess the Bank work and its policies that has been carried out during the economic downturn. As Mizen (2003:196) noted, during the period from 1970s to early 1990s, a series of monetary policies that introduced by the British government turned out to be unsuccessful the inflation was out of control. The underperforming monetary policies provoked the reform in 1997, after which the new UK monetary policy framework was established according to Bank England Act 1998, giving independence to the Bank as well as assigning responsibility of monetary policy to the newly created Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The Retail Prices Index Excluding Mortgage Payments (RPIX) was to be the new goal and the inflation target was set at 2.5% with 1% tolerance range in 1997. That measurement, changed to the Harmonized Inflation Consumer Index (HICP) with target at 2% with 1% tolerance range in 2003 (Brown, 2003). Chart 1 shows that the inflation rates predicted by the HM Treasury during 1997 2002 and 2003 2006 averaged around 2.5621% and 1.9825%, falling within the tolerance range of the inflation targets with less volatility. Wagner opera does not mean so much a musical work, as a musical, poetical, and spectacular work all at once; opera is the work par excellence, to the production of which all the arts are necessary (Sutherland, 1). Opera starts not with music but with its literary source (story or plot), whether it be history, biography, fiction, or mythology in the form of poem, play, drama, novel, or original libretto (Knapp 6). Operais a combination of mangled drama, the singers, the musicand many different arts (Knapp, 3). An opera is not an opera without the music. An operatic a resource that was often overlooked, was dancing. In the French Opera singing aspect and the orchestra aspect are on the same level as dancing. Dancing isn t really a major part of the Italian opera (Knapp 10). French Opera was extremely popular, but only to the French. It wasn t as popular as German opera or Italian opera. This was mainly because in the French Opera the drama came first and the music came second. The French language was notoriously difficult to sing properly because of its lack of strong accents (Knapp 201). To the French, words and actions were far more important than the music so the composers have really allowed the orchestra to overpower the voice and assume the dominant role in the opera (Knapp 202).
