The Drinking Age Debate for Young Adults
The Drinking age debate for young adults have been very controversial since the 1970s to the
present days. The Drinking age have been very controversial between the age of 18 and the age of
21. For many years, Most people wanted the drinking age to be 18 because they believe since u
are an adult u are mature. On the other hand the other side believes that keeping the legal drinking
ageat 21 causes less accidents and deaths. They have been many studies on why the drinking age
shouldnt be 18. There are many benefits and risks of having the drinking age lowered from 21
to 18. Ruth C Eggs an Applied Health Scientist at indiana believes that there are many benefits of
Changing the drinking age to 18. He believes that if young adults were allowed to drink in
controlled enviorments,Offical schools and university functions .That it would teach responsible
drinking methods by role modeling and educational programs. He believes that this is becoming
the forbidden fruit , a badge of rebellion and a symbol of adulthood to young adults. Seen from
university students those under the age of 21 are more likely to be binge drinkers(consuming
more then 5 drinks a week). On ther other hand Jim Hall a Chairman of the national Transportation
safety board found out that during a study of new york college students documented that students
who began drinking at younger age were more likely to become heavy drinkers during there college
life. He also believed that this behavior was bad for

The Manifestations of Marxism in The God of Small Things
Arundhati Roy s novel The God of Small Things presents the reader with the realities of
Marxism. Roy gives the reader an impression of three possible manifestations of the ideology,
rather than presenting a biased reading for or against Marxism. Through Roy s novel the reader
comes to understand Marxism as it appears through Velutha, the oppressed worker, Chacko the
Marxist in name only, and Comrade Pillai, the corrupt politician. Comrade Pillai epitomizes the
idea of a corrupt politician. During his first scene in the novel, Roy describes him as walking
through the world like a chameleon. Never revealing himself, never appearing not to. Emerging
through chaos unscathed. (Roy 15) Furthermore, Comrade Pillai champions himself as an ally
of the oppressed and common people, but it is in reality a façade. Comrade Pillai is in reality a
champion only for his own interests. An example of Comrade s Pillai s selfish corruption is the
way that he watches the workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves: Comrade Pillai had begun to
watch the goings on at Paradise Pickles with the keenness of a substitute at a soccer match. To
bring in a new labor union, however small, in what he hoped to be his future constituency would
be an excellent beginning for a journey to the Legislative Assembly. (Roy 114) Roy uses the
phrase keenness of a substitute at a soccer match to describe Comrade Pillai s attitude toward the
workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves. This phrase seems to suggest

Water Trading Papers
Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has
occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious
as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible
to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over
the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural
water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference.
Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in
exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and
ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed.
The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to
maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without
the natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it
to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to
ensure access to water.
In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water,
which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could
promote more efficient water usage because a

Negative Essay On Football
Reasons and Examples Essay Football, a game that many Americans treasure as a part of their
life has taken an uneventful turn. NFL, the National Football League, draws attention of 64
percent of American s to select a network broadcasting games. Issues within the league and
players started to arise in 2016, causing 49 percent of Americans to boycott watching the game
they once loved by 2017. NFL athletes began to kneel for our Nations National Anthem as a
form of protest on the Nations Criminal Justice System and racial oppression felt in our society.
Have NFL players neglected to present the real issue, disrespected our Nation/ hurt their own
cause, and portrayed a blind message to the American people? Kneeling for our Nations National
Anthem has neglected to present the issue many players are protesting for. Starting with former
quarterback of the San Francisco 49 ers Colin Kapernick, beginning the protest in 2016. Colin
stated I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people
and people of color. Taking a knee for our Nations National Anthem only fueled the issue. The
United Statesof America was built on our flag. Many men and women everyday have sacrificed
their own lives for the sake of the country and the citizens. Protesting racial oppression by kneeling

David Hume s Definition Of Free Will
What is free will? The general concept of free will is the ability to make choices of your own
without anyone or anything impeding them which, consequently, makes you morally responsible.
Free will, however, is non existent. This is explained with the theory of determinism and
solidified via hard determinism. Our actions and behavior can be traced to our desires and beliefs
which are directly caused by our genetics and environment. There are many stances and arguments
against this idea but ultimately do not dissuade against it. There are many beliefs as to what free will
is, and many have tried to establish its meaning. David Hume believes it is the ability to act on
your beliefs and desires and as your beliefs and desires change, so does your behavior. The
problem with Hume s definition is that those with compulsory disorders and addictions have
free will according to that definition. Harry Frankfurt believes that if first and second order
desires are in agreement then you have free will. The problem with Frankfurt s definition is that
the addicts that do not have a conflicting order of desires have free will according to the
definition and those who are weak willed do not have free will. The general explanation of free
will discussed in the introduction is what will be used, seeing that the ones explained have their

To think that it is free will and nothing else, is ignorance. Human life throughout history is known
for adaptation, to create solutions to problems created by the harshness of its environment so it can
prevail. Self reflection is one such tool of adaptation. Within this mode of thought the mind
reevaluates its environment, possible outcomes, benefits, and, depending on the capacity of the
individual, makes the necessary changes to its mindset to maintain an orderly life. This is not a
case of free will, just survival and

The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood And Mrs. Dalloway Essay
There are several different types of Narration and narrator roles in narratives, with each having a
different effect upon the novel. However, each of these different narrator and narration types have
their own advantages and limitations in regards the narrative. Each role, ranging from first to third
person, has its own unique advantages, including the personal insight into a characters, which can
be found in first person, to the understanding of several different points of view, as seen in third
person, and so on. Each role contrasts the other, exploring the novel, and understanding the
characters, in different ways to produce a different effect within the novel. Some of these
contrasting, and differing elements, can be found in The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood and
Mrs Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, where there is shown a clear difference between one narration
style and another. These can range from first person and third person narrator, a shifting and
alternating narration, as can be seen in Atwood s The Edible Woman, to 3rd person omniscient
narrator, , and an indirect interior monologue narration style, as can be seen in Mrs Dalloway by
Woolf. Each text provides a different insight and perspective into a narrativeform, from narrator
roles to Narration type, that helps bring the story to life for the audience of the novel, and each has
its own limitations and advantages to do with telling the story.

Essay about Marxs Manifesto
Marx s theoretical work is the understanding of the nature of human beings and how they have
constructed their historical world. Marx is considered a modernist because his views and theories
fit the meaning of Modernity, which are human freedom and the right to free choice. To Marx,
Capitalism is a barrier to the notion of human freedomand choice. Five aspects of his political theory
are: how he views human nature, effects of Capitalism on human natures with emphasis on
significance of labor, class struggles within Capitalism, the demise of Capitalism and the need for
the transition to Communism.
Marx belief of human nature is that it changes over time; it is historical and dynamic. In
understanding human nature, it is important to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the result of Capitalism, labor has been under admonition and oppression. Instead of
picturing the world as it is, Capitalism pictures the world in a distorted view. A view that leads
to the alienation of the true meaning of human nature. The view that places the products of
laborers more important than the laborers themselves; thus the laborers are objectified. Laborers
then do not realize that they are the ones who are in control of the product that they produce.
Alienated labor hence turns the species existence of man, and also nature as his mental species
capacity, into an existence alien to him, into the means of his individual existence. The distorted
view leads to the miscognition of self of the working class who are cut off from their essential
powers. They fail to realize that the world is of their own making and that they have the ability
to create and recreate the world in which they live in. Marx s theory of privileging of economic
matters places an emphasis on class struggles that are related to the forces of production as well
as the relations of productions. Economics is the production of the exchange of goods and
services through labor arrangements. In every society there is a way to distribute goods and
services called a mode of production. The mode of production is the combination of the forces of
productions; like raw

Tro Troy, Tragic Characters In Fences, By August Wilson
Humans have always felt a responsibility to their families. Whether they are parents, spouses, or
children, they feel as though they owe their family members something, and in a way they do. If
they are children, their parents gave them life, and they owe them their respect. If they are a
spouse, their spouse gave them love and chose them, and therefore they owe them all the love they
can give. If they are parents, they brought their children into the world, and they must care for
them. But above all, humans have a responsibility to themselves, to love, respect, and care for
themselves. I believe that the characters in Fences are a very good representation of this; they feel
the responsibilities to their families, but they still mess up. They are completely human, especially

Formalism And Realism In Film
Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main
camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at
the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how
it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development,
photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist
approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that
strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters
and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To
achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic
problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world
at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism
and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the
study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality
with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of
distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of
filmmakers who put their

History depicts that Japan had gone through periods of rebuilding. By seeing into Japan s culture,
it seems like it is true in terms of Japan s layered past and representation of new media. At the
year 1945, Hiroshima and Nagazaki were levelled by the atomic bomb dropped by the United State,
and this catastrophic event would have shape the nation over time. However, the Japanese has not
simply forgotten about it, but the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagazaki seems to have given the
Japanese a new meaning with the newer generation today. The word of atomic bomb to most of the
people meant death and destruction, but at the same time it can also mean rebirth or hope for the
future. Hence the concept of death and rebirth had become common theme in Japanese anime.
The concept of rebirth can be seen the film Akira. Akira took place after the World War III,

Logical Relationship Of Budgeting Management
LOGICAL RELATIONSHIP OF BUGDETINGS
Budgeting management plays critical role in organizations, it can help organizations to allocate
resource, force thinking about future and estimate performance base on benchmark. Normally,
management team and financial function provide budget plans at the beginning of a specific
period. It also plays the role of communication and co ordination around different levels of
organization. Although all of kinds of budget are run respectively, it is important to investigate
interrelationship between them.
The master budget relationship is showed below:
Production budget, which determine number of units the company needs to produce to meet sales
and ending inventory, interlinked sales budget and direct material budget, direct labor budget and
manufacture overhead budget.
We will discuss the logical relationship of budgets.
1.Sales budget
The sales budget reflected sales expectation of a company s for the budget period. The unit result
of sales budget is the basement of production budget. To calculate sales budget, companies need
variety sources of information. The most important source is historical data and marketing
forecast. The sales budget result comes from budgeted sales in units by selling price per unit. It is
clear that the sales budget of new product will have less accurateness then the grown up product, as
there is not much data can be used. The more historical data to be concerned, the accurateness of
result will be higher.

The Medicine Bag, AndApache Girl s Rite Of Passage,
What are the steps to maturity? In the short story, The Medicine Bag , Martin, the main
character, and in the video, Apache Girl s Rite of Passage , Dachina, both have similarities and
differences in their traditions teaching them the significance of maturity. In addition, there are
advantages and disadvantages to either reading the text or watching the video. Initially, there
are many similarities that are valued in Martin s and Dachina s Native American traditions.
Mainly, both traditions are about the topic of life and how Martin and Dachina have to go
through a process in order to enter adulthood. Martin and Dachina learn how to become mature
by accepting to keep their cultures alive and willing to do the responsibilities that each of their
traditions provide. For example, the author in The Medicine Bag states, Thank you, Grandpa, I
said softly and left with the bag in my hands. That night Mom and Dad took Grandpa to the
hospital. Two weeks later I stood alone on the lonely prairie of the reservation and put the sacred
sage in my bag. This shows how Martin agreed to complete his duty of putting the sacred sage into
his medicine bag, making him responsible. Besides, Great Grandpa had a difficult journey, which
made Martin respect him and not put down the medicine bag. Similarly, Dachina didn t reject her
familys beliefs, since she completed the ritualand also didn t seem careless. Moreover, both
traditions are alike because they provided Martin and Dachina with

Un Peacekeeping In Rwanda Research Paper
A persuasive thesis on the UN peacekeeping mission to Rwanda:
The danger and threats of being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, is difficult to understand
without having experienced them. An example of these challenges was the situation Canadians
serving the UN faced during the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR). At
times, over 400 Canadian soldiers would face some of the worst violence that could be imagined
while taking part in international peace efforts to try and bring the African nation together.
For centuries, two African tribes have made up the majority of the country s population: the Hutus
and the Tutsis. The Tutsis dominated Rwanda s economy and politics for centuries. In 1960, the
Hutu majority forced the Tutsis to flee the country. Rwanda achieved independence in 1961, the
Tutsis that had fled the country formed rebel groups and repeatedly tried to regain control of
Rwanda. This led to decades of violence and stress. In the early 1990s, this stress flared

The Hunt for Red October

Captain Marco Ramius is portrayed by the actor Sir. Sean Connery (who is known for numerous

As the film begins the story line is suggested to be true, but denied by all officials. Here is an

Beauty And Truth In Emily Dickinson s X. Died For Beauty
A plethora deem the necessity to be remembered for something after death and that one will be
forever remembered. Some people donate their entire lives to a cause or charity, but in the end is
it really worth it? X. Died for Beauty by Emily Dickinson, represents that what one lives for and

will eventually be the end of ourselves. Beauty and truth are scarce , but are brethren . Finding a

Lexus Research Paper
Most people know Lexus as a Toyota s luxury branch. They make luxury cars comparable to those
made by prominent names in Luxury like Mercedes, and out sell them. Granted Toyota makes
cheaper cars than most of their competitors in any market, that is how they have been the number
one seller for so long (though their throne was taken by Volkswagen this year). Now Lexushas taken
an important step, they are trying to innovate ahead of their competition with their Hoverboard;
code name: SLIDE.
Ironically, their hoverboard does not actually slide. In their promotional video Ross McGouran
does grind a rail momentarily. However, I am sure that was only accomplished because the rail was
designed specifically for that. Unless a ramp led directly up to the rail (as it did in that skate park),
that would never be possible, because the board is exceedingly heavy and incapable of a traditional

to float on 3 4 inches of a magnetic field while achieving zero fiction (other than air resistance).
What makes the feat impressive, is that it was a fantastic proof of concept for superconductive
technology, which could be pivotal for many industries. Arx Pax had envisioned using their eddy
currents to save buildings in case of earthquakes and other disasters. Their website has quite a few
suggested uses; superconductivity could make all of those processes more efficient. The problem
thus far is the price, there is much more of an established infrastructure for eddy currents to take

Colossal Monument Essay
In Ancient Egypt , there were many influential and powerful Pharaohs from Tutankhamun (c. 1341

Ancient Egypt is dissimilar, there is one correlation. That correspondence is the monuments that

Ghazan Khan Research Paper
When Mahmud Ghazan, the seventh ruler of the Mongol Empire s Ilkhanate division, came to
power after his father Arghun, the economic state of Iran was deteriorating, the value of currency
was decreasing and there was not enough wealth available for the government to rule over the
country. In order to resolve this matter, Ghazan Khan reformed many elements of the Ilkhanate
such as defining Islam as the state religion, land grants, standardizing currency and fiscal policy.
This paper is an attempt to analyze the reforms of the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan Khan and assess their
effectiveness. Arghun was a fanatic Buddhist and because of his interest in this religion, Buddhism
got a chance to spread all around Iranand allowed buddhists to gain power. Although Ghazan was
baptized and raised as a Christian, he was being trained by a buddhist monk who introduced him to
buddhism and made him choose this religion. However, once Ghazan became the sovereign, he
converted into Islam under the influence of Amir Nawruz, chose the Arabic name of Mahmud and

Friar Lawrence Character Analysis
Even the best of intentions can have tragic ends: a lesson well portrayed by the holy friar of
Verona. At a first glance, one would consider Friar Lawrence only a minor influence in the tragedy
of Romeo and Juliet. However, he is much more significant to the development of the play. Friar
Lawrence acts as a catalyst to further sequence love and peace. He is without a doubt, a very
complicated individual, and it is his complex nature that makes him such an interesting character. In
William Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is seen as a tragic hero because of his
noble status, his good intentions, and his naive fatal flaw

Secondly, Friar Lawrence s intentions are always for the benefit of others. He helps his fellow
citizens when they are in despair, such as when Romeo arrives at the friar s cell crying himself
to death. The friar responds, Thou shalt live, till we can find a time to blaze your marriage,
reconcile your friends, beg pardon of the prince, and call thee back (3, 3, 150 152). Here, Friar
Lawrence acts as a mentor to Romeo, and uplifts his spirits by guiding him through the difficult
times of banishment. Friar tells Romeo what he wants to hear because he understands Romeo s
boundless love for Juliet, and what may happen as the consequence of forbidden love.
Moreover, Friar Lawrence has noble intentions that give himself no personal gain. When he
agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet, he says, In one respect I ll thy assistant be, for this alliance
may so happy prove to turn your households rancor to pure love (2, 3, 90 92). Friar decides to
marry the young lovers not only to help his friends, but because he believes it will end the long
bitter feud of Verona. He only cares about the wellbeing of the city and the safety of the opposing
families. Lastly, Friar Lawrence always assists his fellow citizens in their time of desperation. When

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason to be
organized is because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just stuff homework in
your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers, then the next day you will have so
much stress rummaging through your backpack for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I
have seen many people get written up or even a detention because they forgot a book. Time
management is key in middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the
next day, don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in middle
school. Also don t procrastinate. Now this falls under the same category as time management, but
this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let s say Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do
over Christmas break, don t wait until the last weekend before we come back to school to do the
whole science project, If you do two things will happen, one, you will have a stress filled
weekend and that is not good. Number two, you usually won t get a good grade on the project
because you rushed the project that was meant to be done over a span of two weeks, and you

Emile Durkheim s View Of Religion
There are a numerous amount of different perspectives when concerning religions and myths. One
example is Emile Durkheim whose perspective of religion was that it was a social component of
human beings. He suggested that people got their regions ideas, were taught how to carry out their
rituals and developed their ideals as a result of their socialization. He believed that there were no
false religions and added that religionquite dominated over its followers and made them dependent
on it.
Durkheim tried to distinguish between religion and magic. He suggested that religious or sacred
things are special and that commonplace things are profane. Magic rituals he claimed were just
social events. Religious ideas were created while rituals were being performed causing many
emotional participates to feel the presence of unseen beings among them, which was Durkheim s
idea of a sacred world. Durkheim stated that there is no church of magic and that there was no
lasting bond between the magician and his audience. A church binds the group together and a moral

into the beliefs of spirits which needed scarifies. This would cause the spirits to grant favors to

Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success , Stephen R Covey once said.
Operations management is in charge of customers needs and satisfaction. Its aim is to live up to its

Analysis Of Andy Goldsworthy s Piece Ice Spiral
Thinking about a tree, one might think about the leaves and how they could symbolize balance,
growth, and harmony. Or one might think about how a tree represents nature itself by
symbolizing such attributes as strength, stability, diversity and withstanding the greatest of
challenges to survive. Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, photographer and
environmentalist who produces site specific land art which embody these characteristics and
represent nature as a whole. Goldsworthy s process is to be as involved in nature as he possibly
can and to produce sculptures to draw out the character of the environment. He seeks to draw
emphasis to the beauty and exquisiteness of nature while also displaying the stages of life nature
goes through; it grows, stays and decays as an integral part of the circle of life. Goldsworthy s
piece Ice Spiral: Tree Soul, exemplifies these distinctive elements and displays his unique
technique in a way that captures the essence of nature. When one first looks upon the photograph
of Tree Soul, it almost looks unreal or that the ice spiral surrounding the tree was digitally added to
the image of the tree. The spiral ice sculptureis perfectly molded to wrap around the tree and opens
the eyes of the audience in sensing the beauty and multidimensional details of the natural world.
When creating his art pieces, Goldsworthy uses all materials of the natural world such as twigs,
flowers, snow, stone, leaves and ice. He only uses natural materials found

Aristotle Final Good
Aristotle begins to question what is good? The good is explained to differ in different activities
and arts, but shares a common ground because it appears to be for the sake of how things are
done; a means to an end. Aristotle uses the example of medicine; its mean is to end in health.
However, there are many different ends and humans chose some of them, as a means to something
else, therefore not all ends are final ones. That which is chosen never as a mean to something else
proves to be more final than that which is chosen for itself and something else. Therefore, Aristotle
justifies that the mean that is always chosen for itself and not for means of something else is
called the final. Aristotle uses this definition and applies it to happiness, since happiness is always
chosen as an end in itself and never for the sake of something else. The thought of honor, pleasure
and virtuebeing chosen as an end for itself may apply but can be assumed they lead to happiness as
a means to an end.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking about the final, it can be accepted that the final good, to be self sufficient,
something it itself that makes life worth living and is not limited to man alone. For something to
be a final good it needs to not be defined by itself alone but for political beings as well, something
that can be shared with family and friends. A self sufficient thing takes itself and makes something
desirable. Again, Aristotle fits happiness into this definition because happiness is the most desirable
thing. Thus to Aristotle, happiness is the end that all acts are directed towards, both final and

The Woman In Black Comparative Essay
Both Charles Dickens and James Watkins in their novel and film respectively, use setting to convey
their protagonists attitudes towards life and death. Great Expectations (1860 61) and The Woman

An Exploration of the Components of Service Quality
Literature Review
Service Quality
The initial efforts of defining and measuring quality have primary focused on goods since the
end of 1970s (e.g., Clark et al, 1987; Garvin, 1984). Crosby (1979) described goods quality as to
reach or exceed standards. Garvin (1983) suggested that goods quality could be evaluated by the
incidence number of failures which occur either before a product leaves the factory or after a unit
is set up in the field. Compared with the discussions on goods quality, service quality had been
explored rarely then (e.g., Sasser, Olsen Wyckoff, 1978; Gronroos, 1982; Lewis Booms, 1983).
Parasuranman et al (1985) is one of the cornerstone studies of service quality, which gave the
definition of service quality as the discrepancy between customers expectation for service and
their perceptions of service performance they receive. The three authors further developed a
comprehensive measurement set of service attributes called SERVQUAL. An appliance repair
and maintenance firm, several retail banks, a long distance telephone provider, a securities
broker, and credit card companies. ERVQUAL is a 22 item scale which measures service quality
from five perspectives; reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles
(Parasuraman et al, 1988). SERVQUAL has been widely used as criteria of evaluating service
quality (e.g., Reidenbach Sandifer Smallwood, 1990; Tan Pawitra, 2001; Markovic Raspor, 2010).

Customization of bread types, flavor, toppings and ingredients coupled with fresh, steamed, toasted
preparations provide combinations that appeal to almost all consumers (Tristano in Levin, 2008).
Based on the factors and demographic data exposed above the following market needs were
identified:
Consciousness: desire for fresh ingredients and healthy foods
Convenience: food prepared fast before the consumer s eyes
Flexibility: meal customized to the customer s taste
Adaptation: menu options adapted to regional and ethnical needs
Product, price, promotion and place adapted to the consumers needs
Market trends
In the last decade, a lot of emphasis has been put on adopting healthy eating habits and informing
the consumers that the healthy eating option was available in fast food restaurant chains.
Interestingly, consumers eating in fast food chains were found to be more likely to order
fattening side dishes if they think that they are consuming a healthy diet (Men s Fitness, March
2008). This observation is also true in Subway restaurants where a 12 inch Italian sandwich
contains over 900 calories compared to the 600 calories BigMac from MacDonald s (Wilson

drinks, potato chips and desserts accompanying their sandwich, especially is they are offered as

The World Is Blue By Sylvia Earle
Nikki Etchenique Dr. Harper Marine Biology November 24, 2014 The World is Blue Final
Paper In 2009, Dr. Sylvia Earle wrote The World is Blue to educate and alert the reader about
human impacts on marine ecosystems. Through this book she conveys her passion and methodical
arguments concerning the importance of the conservation of the ocean, which encompasses
approximately 80 percent of the earth s surface. Dr. Earle states the ocean touches you with every
breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume (17). This statement
emphasizes the significance of the ocean, not only for marine life, but all life forms on earth. The
book implies that currently in today s world, the conservation of the ocean requires a global effort
to reduce human damage from the past generations. Using facts gleaned from credible scientific
resources, she defines the problems of overfishing, bycatch, and pollution. By analyzing human
impacts on marine ecosystems, Dr. Earle determines successful and unsuccessful solutions to these
problems and suggests various ways individuals can change their lifestyles to reduce impact on the
environment as a whole. One may find it difficult to imagine the world as it was a century ago.
However, Dr. Earle informs us that with less than a quarter of the population occupying the Earth,
many believed that the ocean could yield limitless quantities of fish, whales, and other marine
wildlife (30). Through her book, she points out one problem

Charles Augustin De Coulomb And The Theory Of...
Charles Coulomb
Charles Augustin de Coulomb was a French physicist. He was born on June 14, 1736 in France
in the town of Angouleme. He was born and raised in a small home near France de Revone for 7
years until he started going to school. His parents were Henry Coulomb and Catherine Bajet. His
father was a lawyer and his mother came from well known and well established aristocratic families
in France. Throughout his life, he studied the fields of philosophy, literature, language, botany,
chemistry, astronomy, and mathematics. The thing that he is most known for is developing
Coulomb s law, which described the electrostatic forces of attraction and repulsion. His law would
serve to be very essential to the development of the theory of electromagnetism. The impact that his
work had would go on to leave a legacy behind in the field of electromagnetism, geotechnical
engineering, and friction for centuries to come. Unfortunately, he would later on in life fall ill with
a serious, life threatening fever and would die on August 23, 1806 at 70 years old. (1)
Though he studied many fields throughout his career, the fields that he were known best for were
the fields of electromagnetism, electricity, and friction. Coulomb was best known for developing
Coulomb s law in 1784, which described how charges will either attract or repel each other.
Coulomb s law states that the magnitude of the electrostatic force of interaction between two point

likeable and a great warrior, he was also arrogant, ruthless, cruel on campaign and organised
massacres. So, how did such a man come to be a national hero? Henry s fame started to build
when he was a teenager after showing his abilities on the battlefield by taking part in the Battle
of Shrewsbury, in Wales. In that battle, he was wounded in the face by an arrow but refused to
leave combat, fighting until the end. The King s army was victorious against the Welsh rebels
and Young Henry was recognised throughout England for his courage. Despite his early entry
into public life, Henry was well educated. Henry V was the first King of England since Norman
invasion to use English as his primary language and who could both read and write in the
vernacular language. Henry s accession to the throne was broadly welcomed by the population of
England because they were desperate for a strong monarch, something England had lacked since
the reign of Edward III. And he did not disappoint them. Henry fulfilled every criteria by which
kings were judged: good justice, sound finance, true religion, political harmony, accepting consel
and nobility. Only one remained: success in war but it was no long before he fulfilled that

Stereotypes In Newspapers
When looking at the history of white Americans encroaching on native land, it is often easy for
us to forget that Native Americans had allies that worked to prevent any further loss of land at the
hands of white Americans. Fortunately, newspaper editorials allow us to recognize those who
worked diligently to raise awareness about and prevent the removal of Native Americans,
specifically Cherokees in this case, from their own territories. Although newspapers give us the
ability to understand varying viewpoints on a historical issue, they ve also lacked the ability to
give a concise and unified public opinion and often contained strong biases. While reading
newspaper editorials from the past, we re often left with an incomplete picture, as editorials contain
a large amount of information about one side of an argument and a much... Show more content on

While many supporters of Removal reasoned that Native Americans were savages who still relied
on hunting, Boudinot argued that the Cherokees had grown out of their savage ways and had
transformed into a much more civilized group. Boudinot worked hard in order to ensure supporters
of Removal that traditional cultural practices among Cherokees had stopped, in order to leave
Cherokees to be viewed as more American and civilized than before. Jeremiah Evarts argued that
the United States was encountering an issue of the detrimental incursions on both native land and
their customs created by the persisting infringements of white Americans and laws that the removal
of natives threatened to intensify. While Elias Boudinot viewed the Cherokees responsible for
proving their civility in order to avoid removal, Jeremiah Evarts felt that violating international
agreements and subduing more vulnerable communities in order to benefit the United States would
lead to a path of destruction for the entire

Fighting
Fighting, or kumite, is the freestyle use of moves one has learned. During this freestyle match, the
students may use any technique they have learned in their training for either defensive or offensive
purposes. Fighting is involved with probably only 30 % of skill the student has. However, this is a
very important part of the whole. As mention earlier, katas help in perfecting the moves and the
focus of executing them. On the other hand, fighting employs these moves.
Practicing in fighting will assist in the timing and rhythm of the execution of the move. In a kata
you have as long as you want to throw each kick, each block, each punch, and as much time to
move into the next stance.
During a fight, you must use these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of blocking all of these attacks, you can stop them. If you block the kick and follow up
quickly with your own set of attacks this will surprise the opponent and interrupt his rhythm. The
only way to get a good grasp on these ideas mentioned is to practice.
The only way to become a good fighter is to practice fighting. I don t mean to go out on the streets
and pick a fight with one person after another. Not only is that stupid it is also illegal. I mean to
practice fighting in a controlled environment where both fighters have respect for one another.
Fighters having respect for one another doesn t mean they are going to take it easy on each other ,
it means that if one is knocked to the ground the other isn t going to jump on top of him and
continue beating the crap out of him or if a good punch or kick is thrown the fighter getting hit
should acknowledge the attack and not get pissed off.
The Tae Kwon Do style of fighting is different than many other styles of martial arts fighting. Tae
kwon do could best be described as street fighting. It is mainly composed of kicks punches and
blocks, however there are a few take downs and throws. When a throw or take down is executed
in TKD, one or two attacks are executed at the downed opponent, after that the attacker backs away.
This is because TKD is not wrestling or rolling around on the ground throwing

Manager Interview Essay
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the
County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual
disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position
within a human service agency. Her style of managementhas changed over this short period of
time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, Maybe now I
come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words
to get my point across.
Ms. Geis feels that to be an effective leader one must demonstrate with a high level of confidence,

She replied with Linear like Dr. Sprague (agency CEO).
Ms. Geis feels that the communication skills that one must possess in order to make advancements
in management are that one must be an effective communicator, know the work environment, and
the people you work with.
Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is
expressive which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high
energy level. They can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are
systematic who tend to focus on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts.
The third type listed is sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are
good listeners and so concern for everyone s needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with
others. Lastly, the fourth communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue
short and are perceived as a multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her
own communication style and adjust the style according to the situation.
Grant and Taylor (2014) conducted a study which identified six essential communication traits that
can aid women to demonstrate confidence: (1) starting strong, (2) staying succinct, (3)
dimensionalizing content, (4) owning voice, (5) controlling movement, and (6) projecting warmth
(p. 73). The authors found that the way a women talks about her accomplishments have

Religion Research Paper
Adherents of all the world s major faiths believe that their respective religions had a starring role
in the very creation of mankind. Luckily, it is unnecessary to verify any such claims to realize that
those very religions have played a major role in shaping mankind throughout history. Be it as a tool
through which to consolidate and administer power in the case of the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, a
call to arms to conquer the Iberian Peninsula and the storied Eastern Roman Empire in the case of
the Caliphs of Islam, and as a force that brought together people from different classes, languages,
and countries in the case of the Holy Crusades launched by the Roman Catholic Popes.

Coming to Secretary of State John Kerry s plan to establish an Office of Religious and Global
Affairs this is nothing short of belated. There is plenty of past legislation that serves as a building
block if not a precedent. It was, after all, all the way back in 1998 that the International Religious
Freedom Act (IRFA) was signed into law, leading to the state sanctioned promotion of religious
freedom overseas.
This is not, of course, to say that there are no potential problems with the creation of this office.
Primarily, the potential overestimation of the role of religion in global affairs. Even back in the 8th
century, evidence suggests that the Iberian Caliphate was no set up on account of pure religious
fervor but also as a result of personal ambitions, power politics, and geopolitical concerns. These
same factors, and many more, continue to play a role today. None should be overlooked through a
myopic viewing of the situation through the frame of religion alone.
If one were to assume that all terror is caused by people of the Islamic faith this may well lead to a
simplistic ban of Muslims which could ultimately exasperate the issue of terrorism instead of
addressing it. But a complete shift in thinking where the focus is suddenly shifted unto religion
alone is not what is being suggested.
John Kerry has been very clear in his intentions

Fermentation Lab Report
Fermentation is the anaerobic process by which glucose, or other sugars are catabolized by
microorganisms without an electron transport chain, like yeast (Campbell, 2004). In experiment
one the yeast and glucose acted as reactants, with the yeast breaking down the glucose, producing
the products CO2 and ethanol. The overall reaction for the alcoholic fermentation that took place
can be represented as 2 pyruvate + 2NADH 2NAD+ +2CO2 + 2 ethanol (Campbell, 2004). This
biological process allows cells to operate under conditions where oxygen is not present. Experiment
1 explored the question of how the amount of sugar impacts the rate of fermentation, while
Experiment 2 tested the effect the type of sugar available to the yeasthas on the rate of
fermentation. If more sugar is available to the yeast, the faster the reaction should occur. If sucrose
is used instead of glucose, the reaction will produce less CO2 since the yeast cannot breakdown
sucrose as efficiently as glucose.
Methods:
The procedure for experiment one followed that given in: Martineau, Dean, Gilliland, Soderstrom.
BIO 19L Experiment 1, General Biology I Lab for Science Majors, Autumn Quarter, 2017 2018.
DePaul University.
Experiment one tested the effect the amount of sugar has on the fermentation rate. Four labeled 50
milliliter (mL) test tubes were used to transport each reaction to the designated fermentation tube.
Each tube had a specific ratio of reactants. Test tube 1 acted as the negative control and

For many years, Most people wanted the drinking age to be 18 because they believe since u are an adult u are mature. On the other hand the other side believes that keeping the legal drinking ageat 21 causes less accidents and deaths. They have been many studies on why the drinking age shouldnt be 18. There are many benefits and risks of having the drinking age lowered from 21 to 18. Ruth C Eggs an Applied Health Scientist at indiana believes that there are many benefits of Changing the drinking age to 18. He believes that if young adults were allowed to drink in controlled enviorments,Offical schools and university functions .That it would teach responsible drinking methods by role modeling and educational programs. He believes that this is becoming the forbidden fruit , a badge of rebellion and a symbol of adulthood to young adults. Seen from university students those under the age of 21 are more likely to be binge drinkers(consuming more then 5 drinks a week). • 3. The Manifestations of Marxism in The God of Small Things Arundhati Roy s novel The God of Small Things presents the reader with the realities of Marxism. Roy gives the reader an impression of three possible manifestations of the ideology, rather than presenting a biased reading for or against Marxism. Through Roy s novel the reader comes to understand Marxism as it appears through Velutha, the oppressed worker, Chacko the Marxist in name only, and Comrade Pillai, the corrupt politician. Comrade Pillai epitomizes the idea of a corrupt politician. During his first scene in the novel, Roy describes him as walking through the world like a chameleon. Never revealing himself, never appearing not to. Emerging through chaos unscathed. (Roy 15) Furthermore, Comrade Pillai champions himself as an ally of the oppressed and common people, but it is in reality a faГ§ade. Comrade Pillai is in reality a champion only for his own interests. An example of Comrade s Pillai s selfish corruption is the way that he watches the workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves: Comrade Pillai had begun to watch the goings on at Paradise Pickles with the keenness of a substitute at a soccer match. To bring in a new labor union, however small, in what he hoped to be his future constituency would be an excellent beginning for a journey to the Legislative Assembly. (Roy 114) Roy uses the phrase keenness of a substitute at a soccer match to describe Comrade Pillai s attitude toward the workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves. This phrase seems to suggest ... • 5. Water Trading Papers Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed. The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without the natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure access to water. In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water, which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could promote more efficient water usage because a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. David Hume s Definition Of Free Will What is free will? The general concept of free will is the ability to make choices of your own without anyone or anything impeding them which, consequently, makes you morally responsible. Free will, however, is non existent. This is explained with the theory of determinism and solidified via hard determinism. Our actions and behavior can be traced to our desires and beliefs which are directly caused by our genetics and environment. There are many stances and arguments against this idea but ultimately do not dissuade against it. There are many beliefs as to what free will is, and many have tried to establish its meaning. David Hume believes it is the ability to act on your beliefs and desires and as your beliefs and desires change, so does your behavior. The problem with Hume s definition is that those with compulsory disorders and addictions have free will according to that definition. Harry Frankfurt believes that if first and second order desires are in agreement then you have free will. The problem with Frankfurt s definition is that the addicts that do not have a conflicting order of desires have free will according to the definition and those who are weak willed do not have free will. The general explanation of free will discussed in the introduction is what will be used, seeing that the ones explained have their obvious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood And Mrs. Dalloway Essay There are several different types of Narration and narrator roles in narratives, with each having a different effect upon the novel. However, each of these different narrator and narration types have their own advantages and limitations in regards the narrative. Each role, ranging from first to third person, has its own unique advantages, including the personal insight into a characters, which can be found in first person, to the understanding of several different points of view, as seen in third person, and so on. Each role contrasts the other, exploring the novel, and understanding the characters, in different ways to produce a different effect within the novel. Some of these contrasting, and differing elements, can be found in The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood and Mrs Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, where there is shown a clear difference between one narration style and another. These can range from first person and third person narrator, a shifting and alternating narration, as can be seen in Atwood s The Edible Woman, to 3rd person omniscient narrator, , and an indirect interior monologue narration style, as can be seen in Mrs Dalloway by Woolf. Each text provides a different insight and perspective into a narrativeform, from narrator roles to Narration type, that helps bring the story to life for the audience of the novel, and each has its own limitations and advantages to do with telling the story. • 9. Essay about Marxs Manifesto Marx s theoretical work is the understanding of the nature of human beings and how they have constructed their historical world. Marx is considered a modernist because his views and theories fit the meaning of Modernity, which are human freedom and the right to free choice. To Marx, Capitalism is a barrier to the notion of human freedomand choice. Five aspects of his political theory are: how he views human nature, effects of Capitalism on human natures with emphasis on significance of labor, class struggles within Capitalism, the demise of Capitalism and the need for the transition to Communism. As the result of Capitalism, labor has been under admonition and oppression. Instead of picturing the world as it is, Capitalism pictures the world in a distorted view. A view that leads to the alienation of the true meaning of human nature. The view that places the products of laborers more important than the laborers themselves; thus the laborers are objectified. Laborers then do not realize that they are the ones who are in control of the product that they produce. Alienated labor hence turns the species existence of man, and also nature as his mental species capacity, into an existence alien to him, into the means of his individual existence. The distorted view leads to the miscognition of self of the working class who are cut off from their essential powers. They fail to realize that the world is of their own making and that they have the ability to create and recreate the world in which they live in. Marx s theory of privileging of economic matters places an emphasis on class struggles that are related to the forces of production as well as the relations of productions. Economics is the production of the exchange of goods and services through labor arrangements. In every society there is a way to distribute goods and services called a mode of production. • 11. Tro Troy, Tragic Characters In Fences, By August Wilson Humans have always felt a responsibility to their families. Whether they are parents, spouses, or children, they feel as though they owe their family members something, and in a way they do. If they are children, their parents gave them life, and they owe them their respect. If they are a spouse, their spouse gave them love and chose them, and therefore they owe them all the love they can give. If they are parents, they brought their children into the world, and they must care for them. But above all, humans have a responsibility to themselves, to love, respect, and care for themselves. • 12. Formalism And Realism In Film Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of filmmakers who put their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main reason to be organized is because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just stuff homework in your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers, then the next day you will have so much stress rummaging through your backpack for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I have seen many people get written up or even a detention because they forgot a book. Time management is key in middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the next day, don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in middle school. Also don t procrastinate. Now this falls under the same category as time management, but this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let s say Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do over Christmas break, don t wait until the last weekend before we come back to school to do the whole science project, If you do two things will happen, one, you will have a stress filled weekend and that is not good. One example is Emile Durkheim whose perspective of religion was that it was a social component of human beings. He suggested that people got their regions ideas, were taught how to carry out their rituals and developed their ideals as a result of their socialization. He believed that there were no false religions and added that religionquite dominated over its followers and made them dependent on it. Durkheim tried to distinguish between religion and magic. Or one might think about how a tree represents nature itself by symbolizing such attributes as strength, stability, diversity and withstanding the greatest of challenges to survive. Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist who produces site specific land art which embody these characteristics and represent nature as a whole. Goldsworthy s process is to be as involved in nature as he possibly can and to produce sculptures to draw out the character of the environment. He seeks to draw emphasis to the beauty and exquisiteness of nature while also displaying the stages of life nature goes through; it grows, stays and decays as an integral part of the circle of life. Goldsworthy s piece Ice Spiral: Tree Soul, exemplifies these distinctive elements and displays his unique technique in a way that captures the essence of nature. When one first looks upon the photograph of Tree Soul, it almost looks unreal or that the ice spiral surrounding the tree was digitally added to the image of the tree. The spiral ice sculptureis perfectly molded to wrap around the tree and opens the eyes of the audience in sensing the beauty and multidimensional details of the natural world. • 37. Aristotle Final Good Aristotle begins to question what is good? The good is explained to differ in different activities and arts, but shares a common ground because it appears to be for the sake of how things are done; a means to an end. Aristotle uses the example of medicine; its mean is to end in health. However, there are many different ends and humans chose some of them, as a means to something else, therefore not all ends are final ones. That which is chosen never as a mean to something else proves to be more final than that which is chosen for itself and something else. Therefore, Aristotle justifies that the mean that is always chosen for itself and not for means of something else is called the final. Aristotle uses this definition and applies it to happiness, since happiness is always chosen as an end in itself and never for the sake of something else. The thought of honor, pleasure and virtuebeing chosen as an end for itself may apply but can be assumed they lead to happiness as a means to an end.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When thinking about the final, it can be accepted that the final good, to be self sufficient, something it itself that makes life worth living and is not limited to man alone. For something to be a final good it needs to not be defined by itself alone but for political beings as well, something that can be shared with family and friends. A self sufficient thing takes itself and makes something desirable. Again, Aristotle fits happiness into this definition because happiness is the most desirable thing. • 39. An Exploration of the Components of Service Quality Literature Review Service Quality The initial efforts of defining and measuring quality have primary focused on goods since the end of 1970s (e.g., Clark et al, 1987; Garvin, 1984). Crosby (1979) described goods quality as to reach or exceed standards. Garvin (1983) suggested that goods quality could be evaluated by the incidence number of failures which occur either before a product leaves the factory or after a unit is set up in the field. Compared with the discussions on goods quality, service quality had been explored rarely then (e.g., Sasser, Olsen Wyckoff, 1978; Gronroos, 1982; Lewis Booms, 1983). Parasuranman et al (1985) is one of the cornerstone studies of service quality, which gave the definition of service quality as the discrepancy between customers expectation for service and their perceptions of service performance they receive. The three authors further developed a comprehensive measurement set of service attributes called SERVQUAL. An appliance repair and maintenance firm, several retail banks, a long distance telephone provider, a securities broker, and credit card companies. ERVQUAL is a 22 item scale which measures service quality from five perspectives; reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles (Parasuraman et al, 1988). SERVQUAL has been widely used as criteria of evaluating service quality (e.g., Reidenbach Sandifer Smallwood, 1990; Tan Pawitra, 2001; Markovic Raspor, 2010). The World Is Blue By Sylvia Earle Nikki Etchenique Dr. Harper Marine Biology November 24, 2014 The World is Blue Final Paper In 2009, Dr. Sylvia Earle wrote The World is Blue to educate and alert the reader about human impacts on marine ecosystems. Through this book she conveys her passion and methodical arguments concerning the importance of the conservation of the ocean, which encompasses approximately 80 percent of the earth s surface. Dr. Earle states the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume (17). This statement emphasizes the significance of the ocean, not only for marine life, but all life forms on earth. The book implies that currently in today s world, the conservation of the ocean requires a global effort to reduce human damage from the past generations. Using facts gleaned from credible scientific resources, she defines the problems of overfishing, bycatch, and pollution. By analyzing human impacts on marine ecosystems, Dr. Earle determines successful and unsuccessful solutions to these problems and suggests various ways individuals can change their lifestyles to reduce impact on the environment as a whole. One may find it difficult to imagine the world as it was a century ago. However, Dr. Earle informs us that with less than a quarter of the population occupying the Earth, many believed that the ocean could yield limitless quantities of fish, whales, and other marine wildlife (30). His father was a lawyer and his mother came from well known and well established aristocratic families in France. Throughout his life, he studied the fields of philosophy, literature, language, botany, chemistry, astronomy, and mathematics. The thing that he is most known for is developing Coulomb s law, which described the electrostatic forces of attraction and repulsion. His law would serve to be very essential to the development of the theory of electromagnetism. The impact that his work had would go on to leave a legacy behind in the field of electromagnetism, geotechnical engineering, and friction for centuries to come. Unfortunately, he would later on in life fall ill with a serious, life threatening fever and would die on August 23, 1806 at 70 years old. He made England one of the strongest kingdoms in Europe and academic KB McFarlane even described him as the greatest man who ever ruled England . Even though Henry V was said to be brave, fair, likeable and a great warrior, he was also arrogant, ruthless, cruel on campaign and organised massacres. So, how did such a man come to be a national hero? Henry s fame started to build when he was a teenager after showing his abilities on the battlefield by taking part in the Battle of Shrewsbury, in Wales. In that battle, he was wounded in the face by an arrow but refused to leave combat, fighting until the end. The King s army was victorious against the Welsh rebels and Young Henry was recognised throughout England for his courage. Despite his early entry into public life, Henry was well educated. Henry V was the first King of England since Norman invasion to use English as his primary language and who could both read and write in the vernacular language. Henry s accession to the throne was broadly welcomed by the population of England because they were desperate for a strong monarch, something England had lacked since the reign of Edward III. This is not, of course, to say that there are no potential problems with the creation of this office. Primarily, the potential overestimation of the role of religion in global affairs. Fermentation Lab Report Fermentation is the anaerobic process by which glucose, or other sugars are catabolized by microorganisms without an electron transport chain, like yeast (Campbell, 2004). In experiment one the yeast and glucose acted as reactants, with the yeast breaking down the glucose, producing the products CO2 and ethanol. The overall reaction for the alcoholic fermentation that took place can be represented as 2 pyruvate + 2NADH 2NAD+ +2CO2 + 2 ethanol (Campbell, 2004). This biological process allows cells to operate under conditions where oxygen is not present. Experiment 1 explored the question of how the amount of sugar impacts the rate of fermentation, while Experiment 2 tested the effect the type of sugar available to the yeasthas on the rate of fermentation. If more sugar is available to the yeast, the faster the reaction should occur. If sucrose is used instead of glucose, the reaction will produce less CO2 since the yeast cannot breakdown sucrose as efficiently as glucose.
