John knows perfectly well that he is in control. As she continues to examine the wallpaper, she is
able to distinguish two different patterns: I didn t realize for a long time what the thing was that
showed behind, that dim sub pattern (Gilman 16). For the first time, she is able to see herself as
an independent person, not as her husband s possession or object of gratification of her culture.
Later, feelings of frustration and anger emerge as a result of the discrepancies between her
desires and her obligations: I can see a strange, provoking, formless sort of figure (Gilman 9).
The narrator proceeds to acknowledge her entrapment: the faint figure behind seemed to shake
the pattern, just as if she wanted to get out (Gilman 14). The climax comes when the narrator
visualizes the figure as a woman who finally rebels: The front pattern does move and no wonder!
The woman behind shakes it (Gilman 20). At this point she is fully aware of the effect, pattern
is having on the woman, and on herself. The trapped woman is being strangled because of her
defiance ; she is being trapped and strangled by society s conventions for work, words, roles and
behavior. It is only after this process of self recognition and acknowledgement that the narrator

Journey to Success
The American Dream is the dream that regardless of where you are born or what social class you
are born into, anyone can attain their own version of success. In The Great Gatsby and The Pursuit
of Happyness , both protagonists pursue the path to achieving their American Dream. For both Jay
Gatsby and Christopher Gardner they are both given unfortunate privileges to where they start
their journey. Both men are lower class citizens who make less than minimum wage salaries but
that do not stop them from wanting to succeed. Chris story begins in a small apartment in San
Francisco. Chris Gardner is a black man with a minimum wage job, who lives with his wife
Linda and his 5 year old son Christopher. One day, his wife leaves him because of his lack of
income and motivation to provide for the family. That day, Chris devotes his life and his son s
life to a successful future. Chris and his son are pushed to their limits in the hope that Chris will
achieve his American Dream of being a stockbroker. Jay Gatsby is quite similar to Chris Gardner
in his story. He was born James Gatz in Louisville, Kentucky, to a couple who owned a poor
farm. James was constantly working on his family s farm and even worked other jobs as a child
just to have a decent source of income. He was a lonely little boy who lacked motivation to do

The Maintaining Norms Schema is considered more advanced than the Personal Interests
Schema, as it emphasizes more than the individual. At the Maintaining Norms reasoning level,
law and authority are important, as each of these helps to uphold social order, which is
paramount to this schema. So, a respondent who is predominantly using this schema will take
into consideration what needs to be done in order to be compliant with the social order of society.
Finally, the Postconventional Schema is regarded as the most developmentally advanced. At the
Postconventional reasoning level, laws are not simply blindly accepted (as with the Maintaining
Norms Schema), but are scrutinized in order to ensure society wide benefit. So, a respondent who
is primarily using this schema will focus on what is best for society as a whole. For example, the
Civil Rights movement was a product of Postconventional reasoning, as followers were most

In 2007, Britain s first high speed railway was completed on time and within Budget, This project
was initially known as Channel tunnel Rail link and renamed HS1 in November 2006. HS1 runs at
a speed of 300km/h between the channel tunnel and London.

Objective of HS1 Program
To develop a national railway system effectively, it is essential to establish what it was intended to
achieve as a basis for investment and management (Bolden Harman, 2013). The program was

purpose of enabling travel to more distant destinations.HS1 was defined by the technology and

As a branch the air defense artillery is not well educated on its history. With this paper we will
show that air defense artillery was vital asset for Korean and United States forces. We will also
cover the history of coastal artillery along with a few early weapon systems and the minor changes

Eisenhower strongly criticized President Truman s handling of the war in Korea. President

of Alzheimer s may spread from person to person in the same way that mad cow disease spreads.
