Essay About My Personality
Describing one's own personality in an essay can be an incredibly challenging task. It's akin to
trying to dissect oneself under a microscope while simultaneously juggling the complexities of
self-awareness and introspection. The difficulty lies not only in articulating the various facets of
one's personality but also in navigating the subjective nature of perception.
To begin with, there's the inherent subjectivity in how we perceive ourselves versus how others
perceive us. Our self-perception might be skewed by biases, insecurities, or idealizations.
Additionally, attempting to distill the essence of one's personality into coherent paragraphs can
feel like trying to capture lightning in a bottle. Personality is multifaceted, comprising a myriad
of traits, quirks, beliefs, and experiences that shape who we are. Trying to encapsulate all of
these complexities within the confines of an essay can feel like an exercise in futility.
Moreover, there's the challenge of striking the right balance between self-reflection and self-
aggrandizement. While the essay is meant to provide insight into one's personality, it's essential
to avoid veering into narcissism or self-indulgence. Finding the delicate equilibrium between
highlighting strengths and acknowledging weaknesses requires a nuanced approach to self-
expression.
Furthermore, writing about one's personality necessitates a level of vulnerability and
introspection that can be uncomfortable for many. Delving into the depths of one's psyche and
exposing vulnerabilities on paper requires courage and emotional resilience. It's akin to peeling
back the layers of a proverbial onion, confronting truths about oneself that may be difficult to
articulate, let alone share with others.
In conclusion, crafting an essay about one's personality is a formidable undertaking fraught with
challenges. It demands a delicate balance of self-awareness, honesty, and introspection, all while
navigating the complexities of perception and self-expression. Yet, despite its difficulties, such
an endeavor can yield profound insights into the intricacies of the human psyche.

Streptococcus pneumonia Streptococcus pneumonia is a pathogen with a niche in the
upper respiratory tract of the human that has a two component signaling system. The
two component signaling system has CPS accumulate extracellular to the cell, CPS
eventually binding to the comD receptor, which stimulates auto phosphorylation of
comE, the response regulator(1). This is a strictly fermenting microbe that tolerates
oxygen s presence, also known as an aerotolerant pathogen (3). This microbe
ferments glucose, a sugar, into lactic acid, in the lactic acid fermentation cycle. It
also can ferment other sugars like sucrose or fructose. 20% of the strains that are
clinical samples only grow anaerobically (3). When placed in the proper multifaceted
medium S. pneumonia can replicate in 20 30 minutes. Since there are some many

Descriptive Essay About My Hometown
A new friend of mine from Central America struggled when I asked him about his
hometown. His expression first told of a welling of formative personal memories
accompanied by a knowing smile on his face. With no words yet arriving and
seconds ticking by, his face shifted with frustration at feeling mute, as if it were an
impossibly monumental task to convey the essence, as he deeply felt, of his
hometown the place of his birth and nurturing and land where still his parents and
one grandparent dwell. Finally, in a linguistic dam burst, words gushed out in a
geyser of information his eyes lit up, and his hands came alive as he related his
meaningful images and a sense of the rhythm of life there. It emerged in random
spasms of phrases about the morning chaos at busy food markets filled with
shoppers, the lake with its neon green and red birds, and his favorite place a quiet
hill top overlooking fields of sugar cane where shirtless workers gathered the
harvest. Then it was my turn to explain to him my hometown. I hardly knew where
to begin. It, too, seemed an impossible task, and I am certain I blurted out in my
own randomness various images that had made their mark on my memory.
However, I knew that I had failed to relate any coherent statements. Later, I
reflected on how to prepare myself better for the next time someone asked me about
my hometown. I decided to pick out three characteristics I could focus on in order to
bring coherence to my hypothetical future listener on the topic of the place I come
from. Having thought it through more, I have confidence now regarding what to say.
Jacumba Hot Springs, a small town in California, can be defined in terms of its
unique topography, its people, and its mineralwater. To begin, Jacumba Hot Springs
has some unique geographical features. For example, huge boulders of an infinite
variety of shapes are scattered across the land. I remember as a child climbing up
the side of one particularly large ten footer on my grandfather s half acre. At the top
of it was a flattened area which formed a natural seat from which he and I would
sometime catch the rising moon on a beautiful summer evening. Besides the
boulders, the view of the

Analysis Of Francesco Petrach s The Ascent Of Mont
Ventoux
The beginning of the Renaissance brought many changes to the world. It became
known as the Age of Exploration and it brought in a new perspective on art. This
perspective on art is shown through anything from visual arts to literary art. This time
period also introduced the rise of humanism. It brought into the picture a very
optimistic view of humanity. This was shown especially in the work The Ascent of
Mont Ventouxby Francesco Petrarch. This work refers back to Book X of
Confessions by Saint Augustine when Petrarch reaches the top of the mountain.
Although they are both dealing with the same passage, Petrarch and Augustine seem
to interpret it in very different ways. Petrarch wrote the Ascent of Mont Ventoux as a
young man. It is a letter to his former confessor, Dionigi di Borgo San Sepolcro,
because he was in seminary school. The letter is essentially a travel journal about his
journey up Mont Ventoux. Petrarch initially wanted to take this journey with his
friends, but they either refused or were not up to his standards. He decide to just
climb the mountain with his brother. At the beginning of the journey, Petrarch writes
about his encounter with an old, cranky man in the foothills of the mountain. The
man pretty much tells them that it is a dumb idea which just encourages them to
finish the journey even more. They eventually reach the top of the mountain a few
days later. At the top, Petrarch pulls out his copy of Confessions and reads a small
portion. He
Theme Of Tintern Abbey By William Wordsworth
Upon the very first reading of William Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles
Above Tintern Abbey, on Revisiting The Banks of The Wye During a Tour, 13th
July 1798 , one comes across the theme of memory and Wordsworth s love for nature
( themes frequently explored by Wordsworth in several of his poems). However, both
these themes work in an inter connected and intertwined manner in the said poem.
The very first line itself sets a nostalgic mood to the poem. It depicts Wordsworth s
contemplation and reflection of the past.
Five years have past; five summers, with the length of five long winters! And again I
hear.... (1 2)
The poem starts with Wordsworth s recollection of the time that has elapsed since his
last visit to Tintern Abbey.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He realizes that while the nature, the landscape surrounding Tintern Abbey has
remained the same and will remain the same, he has and will change. In the last
stanza, Wordsworth s tone changes to slight anxiousness. There is a binary created
of remembrance and forgetfulness. It could be because he desires a sense of
immortality just like the beauteous forms in the minds of his readers and Dorothy.
He wishes his readers and his sister to draw comfort and solace from him just as the
nature gives him comfort and solace. Thus, keeping his memory

Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway
Trolley
To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation
where you are on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are
headed for five people and you can either hit the five people, killing them or save
them by turning the trolley hitting one person and killing him. There is another
scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order
to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley.
This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes
you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that
there is an important moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge
case because there is a difference between letting someone die to save people and
killing someone to save people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley
because even though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the
action has different moral standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong.
Most people agree that it is morally permissible to turn the trolley killing the one
man to save people five and it is wrong to push a fat man from a bridge to save five
people. Most people believe this because they know that there is a distinct moral
difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone.
Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which
is why people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as
Essay about The Benefits of Animal Testing are Too Great...
Animal Testing Animal testing began when William Harvey used animals 400 years
ago to find out how blood circulated through the body. The modern era of animal
research however started about 150 years ago with the rise of physiology as a science.
It was very different back then. There were no anesthetics or effective painkillers, so
the animals suffered a great deal, as did patients. Scientists learned that putting
animals, or humans through that type of torture was inhumane. Consider having to
have a leg amputated, which was not uncommon in those days due to the fact that
infections got very severe without the use of antibiotics, without even so much as an
anesthetic to control the pain. Now the treatment is there to help the pain, so... Show

It is very difficult, and in most cases simply not yet possible, to develop non animal
methods to replace the use of living animals. (RDS 2006).
There are many myths to animal testing. Many groups such as Animal Liberation
Front (ALF) contest that domestic animals are not receiving their rights and that
this is not justice. (BBC. 2006) However, studies have shown and proven that only
0.4% of all research animals are cats, dogs, and monkeys. 80% of animals being
used are mice, rats, fish, amphibians, birds, rabbits, and the occasional pig or sheep.
No matter what the animal, being used, a licensed breeder must specially breed it.
Another issue that is a big deal, yet is easily justified is the anesthetics. Anesthesia is
used to prevent suffering. Most procedures (60% in the UK) are so mild that giving
an anesthetic would mean more suffering than the experiment itself. (RDS 2006).
Members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
) suggested that
animals are not the same as humans so there is no logical reason to why they should
test products on animals. Obviously there are differences between animals and
people. Under the skin or fur, the biology of humans and other mammals is
surprisingly similar. People have the same organs, controlled by the same nerves and
hormones, like other species. When there are differences, researchers know about
them. The differences can actually help scientific
Essay on The Mask Of Apollo
quot; The Mask of Apollo quot; revolves around the adventures of Nikeratos, a young
actor who travels the countryside of ancient Greece and Sicily while performing in
various plays. In one play, Kadmos by Sophokles the Younger, Nikeratos is required
to wear an old mask of Apollo as part of his costume. The mask is fifty years old and
is rumored to bring good luck. Nikeratos is impressed with the mask and comes to
believe that it possesses special powers. He begins to make reverent gestures toward
it as when he places a bay sprig above it and sprinkles drops of wine on the floor in
front of it.
During one performance of the play a battle breaks out with a neighboring town. As

This places Nikeratos in the middle of the political turbulence involving Dionysios
the Younger and the rule of Syracuse. Faction fights begin which result in Dionysios
exiling Dion. Plato is moved into a house in Palace Park where Dionysios can keep
a watchful eye on him. Nikeratos is also forced to end his traveling around the
country because of the fighting. Plato is later released when the Carthaginians attack
and war begins.
After several years, peace is declared. This is good news for Nikeratos and other
actors because tours can now be scheduled again. This allows Nikeratos to once
again travel and interact with the powerful people of the era. At the same time,
Dionysios is resolved to have Plato return. Dionysios uses Plato s loyalty to Dion as a
method of manipulation. Dion encourages Plato to return to Syracuse in the hope that
Plato can secure his own return. When Plato refused to return to Syracuse, where he
is hated and threatened by the soldiers, his relationship with Dion becomes strained.
Eventually, as the pressure Dionysios and Dion put on his friends builds, Plato
agrees to return. Despite the return, Dion s property is sold and Dionysios shows
no sign of recalling him. Dionysios is reportedly jealous of the relationship between
Plato and Dion, as he himself now desires to be Plato s favorite.

The Death Of The Funeral
The Death of the Funeral Business Rough Draft
In the essay The Death of the Funeral Business , the author Sandy Hingston
repeatedly illustrates the different roles that technology plays in constructing modern
funeral rituals. Over the past years, technology has become such a big part of our
daily lives, that now funeral homes are changing rapidly to fit in with all of the
technological advances that have been happening to the world around us. I believe
that in The Death of the Funeral Bussiness Hingston works to describe how
technology has changed the values society has towards death and decay writing about
how technology has changed funerals and societies view them.
The Death of the Funeral Business is an article explaining why the traditions of
having a funeral have declined over the past years. According to some of the research
that Hingston made, in 1998, only 24 percent of Americans were cremated compared
to in 2012, where over 43 percent of Americans were cremated. Throughout the article
Hingston explains why technology has been a huge impact on the decline of funeral
traditions.
Technology has advanced right before our eyes and most of us fail to realize, but
now we revolve around technology. When people died years ago, they didn t leave
much behind. For example, the only thing that Hingston s mom left behind was a
single photograph that she wanted all of her grandchildren to have. Hingstons writes,
Mom got her wish; her grandkids all have copies of that
Fall of the House
I must perish in this deplorable folly (Poe par. 11). With this statement, Roderick
Usher seems to be both accepting and sealing his fate. The House of Usher was
once a mighty and well respected family, but it has now dwindled down into
almost nonexistence. Twins Roderick and Madeline are all that survive of this
once proud race. A summons from Roderick to the unknown narrator of this story,
a childhood friend of Roderick, sets the events in motion. He speaks of an illness
and mental disorder which has become a great burden on him, and he wishes for
the company of his dearest friend to help comfort and give some alleviation of his
malady (Poe par. 2). As the narrator arrives at the family mansion, he is struck by the
aura of gloom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also be understood that since they share this bond, they shall also suffer the
same fate. Kathleen Wilson states the house as isolated, decayed and full of the
atmosphere of death... represent[ing] the dying Usher family (56). Once the last
surviving members of the family die, the house will lose all importance and
meaning, dying away along with its inhabitant. However, what happens when a
bond between house and family becomes so strong? From what Poe has written, it
seems as though they begin to possess a single soul. After the completion of their
ballad, Roderick tells the narrator that he believes in the sentience of all vegetable
things (Poe par. 19). In other words, he believes that all things, no matter how
primitive, have some sort of conscious understanding. Now that the only surviving
members of the Usher race are twins Madeline and Roderick, the house itself
senses it is in danger of becoming extinct and takes control. It traps Roderick and
pushes him to continue the family line with his sister, allowing the House of
Usher to continue on surviving. Roderick even develops an acute bodily illness...
which oppressed him (Poe par. 2). He suffered much from a morbid acuteness of
the senses. The most insipid food was alone endurable; he could wear only
garments of certain texture; the odors of all flowers were oppressive; his eyes were
tortured by even a faint light; and there were but peculiar sounds,
A Soldier s Home Essay
Wars have various implications of monumental significance to the entire society and
humanity as a whole. This is mainly because of the wanton destruction that occurs in
the course of reaching amicable solutions to disputes. The First World War was
fought on an unprecedented scale in the history of mankind. In Soldier s Home,
Ernest Hemmingway highlights the predicament of a youthful soldier upon his return
from military duty in Europe. Harold Krebs finds it difficult to fit into the society
once he returns from active duty in the World War I
. This paper compares the life of
the soldier before and after returning to his hometown after war. It becomes
apparent that the negative implications of war endure long after the wars come to
an end. Various factors make Harold Krebs s story especially fascinating. Firstly,
his case is unique among his hometown counterparts for one reason. Krebs
happened to be a member of the second division, which did not get home until one
year after the War s completion. He returned to Oklahoma in 1919, a whole year
after his colleagues from other divisions returned home (Hemmingway). By this
time, men who were drafted from the town had already been elaborately welcomed
back into the society. Nobody seemed to understand why Krebs had to come back so
late after the War s completion. One cannot help but sympathize with the returning
soldier following the cold reception he gets back home. Everybody else has since
settled in and adjusted to life in

The Relationship between Academic Obstacles and
Facilitators
University students make up a large population in most countries and may be the
most important individual s part of a society; as they constitute of future
professionals and degree obtainers. The life of a student is very different to other
age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and pressurised as the
importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened because
of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well
being of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health
needs to be taken into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The
purpose of this essay is to assess the relationship between academic obstacles and
facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic performance, as well as how it
may affect the well being of the student.
When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam
time or when assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to
manage their time properly in order to get their work done on time, or simply not
being able to cope with the nature of the work. It is argued that students who are
experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in their studies (Salanova,
Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel exhausted will
experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards
their work. While those who have positive feelings

Clark (2000) Women, Gender, and Religion, talks about how the Ancient Greeks
believe men and women were two different species. Men are the superior and
women are the inferior. Clark says { Greek medical writers differ in their ideas
about male and female bodies. The Hippocratic school presented men and women as

women to be, Imperfect or defective men in what has been termed a one sex model.
Women lacked the firm control of bodily boundaries that men had. Women changed
shape during pregnancy, and they leaked: blood, tears, and emotion. Since woman
does not bound herself, she must be bounded. This is achieved by organization of

Ancient Mystery of Malaria
Ancient Mystery of Malaria
Malaria is a disease that has wrought history since the dawn of time itself. It has
conquered some of the mightiest warlords in history including Tutankhamen,
Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan. The earliest records of
malaria symptoms date back to 2700 BCE, first described in the Nei Ching, an
ancient Chinese medical script. The Chinese described the prominent symptoms of
malaria, discussing the connection between recurring fevers and enlarged spleens.
In 1550 BCE the Ebers Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian medical script, mentioned
patients suffering from fevers, shivering, vomiting, convulsions and also enlarged
spleens. In 600 BCE records of malaria like fevers rampant in Mesopotamia were
found documented on cuneiform tablets. By 400 BCE the symptoms of malaria
became widely recognizable in Ancient Greece, where malaria was held responsible
for huge population declines in large cities and states. Hippocrates, traditionally
regarded as the father of modern medicine, documented the main symptoms of
malaria and made extensive notes in the literature of the time. He was also the first
to recognise the relationship between occurrences of fevers and close proximity to
stagnant waters. The Romans also discovered this connection between fevers and
swampy marshes and notably pioneered the first preventative efforts against malaria
by draining these swamps. Thus from the medieval Italian language the term malaria
was coined: mala aria
Importance Of The Sixth Amendment
The founding fathers decided it would be beneficial to create the sixth amendment in
1789 in attempt to codify fairness. When thinking about what the word fair means,
one should think of a marked by impartiality and honest: free from self interest,
prejudice, or favoritism (Fair). Overall, the sixth amendment was created to guarantee
the right to criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without
unnecessary delay, the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the
charges and evidence against you (Sixth Amendment). This means every individual
who is being charged of a crime, is required to have a speedy and public trial, an
impartial jury, notice of accusation, confrontation, and counsel. Since all... Show

After seeing the judicial system fail for so long, our founding fathers believed the
judicial system should change. This lead our founding father to create the sixth
amendment, were judges developed rules of evidence and produces and gave the
lawyers a say in selecting and instructing juries, so trials grew longer and more
complex (). The founding fathers created the six amendment that includes six
human rights. The first right is considered to be a speedy trial. A speedy trial is an
individual s trial that holds little or no delay. An individual who is arrested must be
brought to trial for his or her alleged crimes within a reasonable time. If an
individual s criminal case fails to begin a trial in a timely manner, the case may be
dismissed. Depending on the jurisdiction, a prosecution has sixty to one hundred
and twenty days to bring an imprisoned defendant to trial. An individual may waive
their rights to a speedy trial. Our words were read aloud by attorney Volkova

A dog is a man s best friend goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply.
Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied
benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work,

different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside

stars and rich and famous people have begun using pets as a status symbol. Millions
of dollars are spent finding the perfect and most valuable pet even to the extent that
the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need for
high status and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they
live with. Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result in an
animal of inferior security and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and
violent temperament. In an attempt to
Base Jumping Is Becoming Known As One Of The Most
Extreme...
Base jumping is becoming known as one of the most extreme sports the world
knows. To successfully BASE jump one must bound from an exit point , and free
fall from very high places. People say it s too dangerous, and should be outlawed
completely. On the other hand, people like the late Dean Potter used to successfully
jump with his dog in a backpack as he would leap off cliffs falling as much as 3000
feet towards the ground. BASE jumpingis amazing, and isn t for everyone, but it
should at the least remain someone s choice to do it or not in my opinion.
Its known as BASE jumping, and BASE is an acronym that stands for buildings,
antennae, spans, and earth such as cliffs and mountains (Tara L. Allman). These are
all places BASE jumpers hurdle from. They go to these places to perform their sport,
leaping off into the void and free falling. Before smashing into the ground, they
deploy their parachute. There is a high likelihood you will die if you make any
mistakes. So you are effectively saving your own life every time you do it. Simple
right? Not by a long shot. This sport is a huge undertaking. You start off a student,
and only after years learning under a mentor, do you get to wear the invisible
badge of BASE Jumper. BASE jumping is widely viewed by the public as
dangerous and too risky. In many countries and states of the US, BASE jumping is
illegal. In addition, not only is the act of jumping illegal, but BASE jumpers are often
trespassing on someone s property to
A Summary OfThe Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus
In The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, Faustus struggles
with the conflicting forces of honoring his desires and giving into the desires of his
egos, going against his better instincts (man versus himself). Faustus also struggles
with going against God/the fates and making the conscious decision not to repent.
This conflictbrings up the question of whether or not one should do something just
because they can. Faustus desire for power and greed on Earth, rather than trusting in
Godand waiting for the perfection found in heaven (man versus God/the fates). The
conflicitng forces in man v. himself and man v. God/the fates, present throughout The
Tragical History of Doctor Faustus illuminates the meaning of the work as a whole
by presenting the conflict of trusting in the faith and mercy of god versus giving into
materialstic and earlthy temptation while also conflicting the materialstic power on
earth versus perfection in heaven. A major conflicitng force in the play is Faustus
versus himself. Faustus often lets his ego and earlthy desires hinder his loyalty to
God, often against his better instincts. After discovering the benefits on his life due to
practicing magic, Faustus lets go of the values his parents [who were] base of stock
raised him with (Marlowe, Prologue, 11). Although Faustus knows better than to
practice magic and to instead turn to God, the temptation of benefiting greatly from
the positive results of magic is too great.
Improperly Storing Your Boat
Tips to Avoid Improperly Storing Your Boat Even though you may love being out
on the water on your boat, the winter will eventually come and you will need to put
your boat into storage. In order to avoid improperly storing your boat, you must be
aware of the dangers of improperly storing your boat, as well as how to store it
correctly. The Dangers One thing to watch out for is the temperature of the place
you are storing your boat. Your boat is constructed with materials that can be
sensitive to extremely cold or hot temperatures. For example, an extremely cold
storage climate could cause wood to warp, and an extremely hot storage climate may
compromise the boat s overall structure due to the metals that can bend. The ideal

Baroque Art And The Baroque Era
Baroque Ornamentation
The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes
improvised outlet for period musicians that spurred from human instinct to
manipulate melodic material. This urge to change melodic material by altering the
rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music including Gregorian chant,
which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of ornamentation. It can be
seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music. Although
improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows
itself in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers
use improvisation as a means of self expression and a way to express composer
intent. During the Baroque era, there were many different styles and methods of
ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and composer of a piece of music.
Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the development
of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand
how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from
about 1600 to 1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and
in harmonic complexity. Composers also relied on the performers ability to add
ornamentation and to complete the harmonies in a basso continue score through
improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line with numbers and symbols
written above, to indicate the
The Brushless Dc Motor, By Lawal Adedayo Kehinde
TERM PAPER ON THE BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR BY LAWAL ADEDAYO
KEHINDE Abstract: The brushless DC motor also called the electronically
commutated motor (ECM) drive are synchronous motors that are powered by a DC
electric source through an integrated inverter/ switching power supply, which
produces an AC electric signal to drive the motor. They make operations more
reliable, efficient and less noisy. In terms of weight, they are lighter than the brushless
DC motors with the same power output. It has helped a great deal in solving the
challenges encountered with the brushed DC motors which wear out... Show more

To control commutation timing, rotor position is sensed and used for timing the
switching of the output transistors to control the motor in the motor windings. The
Brushless DC motor is a rotating electric motor consisting of stator armature
winding and rotor permanent magnets. . They have three phase windings that are
wound in star or delta connection and need a three phase inverter bridge for electric
commutation. It has permanent magnet which makes it have a high ratio between
torque and motor size and also suitable for applications where space and weight are
critical for example, in satellite applications. The brushless DC motors are becoming
more popular in low and medium power applications due to the characteristics they
have such as better speed versus torque characteristics, high dynamic response, high
efficiency, noiseless operation and higher torque to weight ratio. They also have a
long life span. With rapid development in power electronics, semiconductor and
manufacturing technology for high performance magnetic materials, the brushless
DC motors have been used for energy savings applications such as air conditioners,
refrigerators, air pumps, kitchen appliances and electric vehicles. II. HISTORY OF
BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR The brushless DC MOTOR is developed on the
groundwork of the brushed DC motors. The modern machine theory was established
when Faraday discovered the electromagnetism induction phenomenon in 1831. The

The Beat Generation Essay
The one thing that we yearn for in our living days, that makes us sigh and groan
and undergo sweet nauseas of all kinds, is the remembrance of some lost bliss that
was probably experienced in the womb and can only be reproduced (though we hate
to admit it) in death. (Kerouac, Jack. On the road. ). This quote, from Jack Kerouacs
book On the Road, is a brilliant example of the overall feel of the Beat Generation.
Jack Kerouac is one of the most influential writers of the Beat Generation, rivaled
only by the likes of Allen Ginsbergand William S. Burrough. But what exactly is the

This was a vital, ferocious, do or die attack, and as long as the night advance lasted,
no quarter was shown (Australian government, 2015). The second battle of Villers
Bretonneux was a battle situated in the town of Villers Bretonneux in the Picardy

The purpose of the battle was to take back the town of Villers Bretonneux after the
Germans broke British lines to take the town in the morning of the 24th of April. The

Spatial Memory
Spatial memory has been an intriguing field of study for many years. A major debate
especially arises when the spatial memory is said to differ between males and
females. The five studies attempt to attribute the variations to different reasons. The
first paper (Lund,2001), attempts to find the role of estrogen in the difference
between the performance of learning and memorytasks in males and females. The
second paper, (Lejbak, 2011) emphasizes the n back task, a continuous performance
working memory measure that makes strong demands on working memory in the
superior cognitive load conditions. This strategy has been passed as an effective
paradigm that is used in neuroimaging as a measure for working memory. The third

The study first appreciates that sex differences in psychological functions exist, but
the objective is to gauge the performance as the individual progresses with age. The
study used rhesus monkeys that were subjected to various tasks with varying
complexities. The results revealed that the perfomance of the male spatial memory
was superior to the that of the female subjects at the beginning of the study. However,
the rate at which the performance declined was higher for the male subjects than the
females. Working memory, however, was the only component of the study that
showed a difference. The study then concluded that males have an advantage in
spatial working memory at a young age, but the decline is more significant with

Chapter Four Summary
In chapter four, Adler tells us about the second level of reading. The second level
of reading is Inspectional reading. Adler tells us that the definition of Inspectional
reading is being able to read at a true level. Adler affirms that you cannot read at an
Inspectional level unless you can read at the elementary level. Adler altercates that
you must be able to read without having to look up the meaning of words or
stumbling over the grammar. Adler says, You must be able to make sense of a
majority of the sentences and paragraphs, although not necessarily the best sense of
all of them. (31) Adler then proceeds to tellus that there are two types of Inspectional

manifest that you must find a difficult book to read or a boring book to help you

how they stayed awake. Adler claims that to manage to stay awake depends on the
reader s goal of the book. Adler denotes that if you are reading a book to gain
knowledge from it, then you are more likely to stay awake and read the book.
Adler declares four basic questions a reader asks. The questions are, What is the
book about as a whole? (46) What is being said in detail, and how? Is the book true,
in whole or in part? And what of it? (47) In the first question, What is the book about

author obtained this theme. In the second question, What is being said in detail, and
how, The reader is to discover the main idea and arguments of the book. In the third
question, Is the book true, in whole or in part, the reader must be able to know the
answers to the other questions in order to understand this one. In the fourth question,
Adler indicates that you are to find the connotation of the book. Adler declares two

A publically traded company offers challenges to auditing when it comes to shared

The most basic principle of GAAP at risk is the qualitative characteristic of
reliability. Shared based payment and SPE reporting individually has been broken

SPE Reporting Individually
A special purpose entity (SPE) is a business interest formed in order to perform a
specific task or tasks. SPE s are also referred to as off balance sheet arrangements.
SPE s are formed to 1). Finance certain assets or services and keeping the
associated debt off the balance sheet of the sponsors, 2).Transform certain financial
assets, such as trade receivables, loans, or mortgages, into liquid securities, and 3).
Engage in tax free exchanges (Saroosh, 2004). Most of the SPE s in the U.S. have
been organized as limited liability corporations (LLC). A trust is also a common SPE
in the U.S.
US GAAP has two models for off balance sheet treatment of SPEs one addressing
de recognition of assets and the second dealing with consolidation of variable
interest entities. Initially accounting treatment for SPE s was established by FAS
140. Until 2010, de recognition of assets were governed by FAS 140, according to
Basel Committee (2009). In order to be de recognized, assets must be isolated from
the transferor and put beyond the reach of creditors and receivers. This standard is
commonly referred to as meeting true sale criteria. To qualify as a true sale; the

In This Paper, First I Am Going To Introduce The Criterion
In this paper, first I am going to introduce the criterion of verifiability. With the help
of the criterion of verifiability, Ayer is able to test whether any sentence has factual
significance or not. He then concludes that metaphysical propositions lack factual
significance because they fail to satisfy even the weaker sense of verifiability in
principle. Ayer proceeds to argue that metaphysical propositions are nonsensical since
they neither have factual significance nor belong to the category of a priori
propositions. This argument is mainly successful as to eliminate metaphysics from
sensible knowledge, except there are two parts susceptible to attack. One may argue
that the process of applying the criterion of verifiability to... Show more content on

As philosophers, we are most interested in sentences with factual significance
because we are after genuine knowledge that concerns matters of fact. The criterion
of verifiability is formulated to test whether a sentence is factually significant or not.
Defined by Ayer, a sentence is factually significant to any given person if, and only if,
he knows how to verify the proposition which it purports to express. (Language, Truth
, and Logic; Ayer, 6) For empiricists like Ayer, it is accepted that empirical evidence
is the first source of genuine knowledge we have about the real world. It naturally
follows that when empiricists verify a proposition, they make relevant observations
and set up experimentations that will help them accept or reject the proposition. I
agree with Ayer because I find there is nothing more genuine than senses I
experience; and I am not obliged to make sense out of nonsensical things.
We encounter factually significant propositions everywhere. For instance, Bruce is a
student from UCLA. This proposition is factually significant because we can verify it
by calling the registration office.
However, there is the proposition that has no factual content. Therefore, its truth value
is independent of empirical evidence. This proposition is of such a character that the
assumption of its truth, or falsehood, is consistent with any assumption whatsoever
concerning the nature of his future experience ... (Language, Truth, and Logic;
The City Of The Great Metropolis
There was a house in the great Metropolis older than the city. Many said that it was
older than the cathedral, and that before the Archangel Michael raised his voice as
advocate in the conflict for God, the house stood there in its evil gloom, defying the
cathedral from out its dull eyes.
The house had lived through the time of smoke and soot. Every year which passed
over the city crept, when dying, into this house, until at last the house was a cemetery
filled with dead years.
Set into the black wood of the door stood, copper red and mysterious, the seal of
Solomon, the pentagram.
It was said that a magician, who came from the East (and in the track of whom the
plague wandered) had built the house in seven nights. But the masons and ... Show

They died, and no doctor knew the illness. The house resisted its destruction with
so great a force that word of its malignity went out over the borders of the city,
spreading far over the land. At last, there was no honest man who would have
ventured to make war against the house. Yes, even the thieves and the rogues, who
were promised remission of their sentence provided they declared themselves ready
to pull down the magician s house, preferred to go to the pillory, or even to the
scaffold, rather than enter the spiteful walls, past the latchless doors, which were
sealed with Solomon s seal.
The little town around the cathedral became a large town and grew into Metropolis,
and into the center of the world.
One day there came to the town a man from far away, who saw the house and said, I
want to have that.
He was initiated into the story of the house. He did not smile. He stood by his
resolution. He bought the house at a very low price, moved in at once and kept it
unaltered.
This man was named Rotwang. Few knew him. Only Joh Fredersen knew him very
well. It would have been easier for Joh Fredersen to fight out the quarrel about the
cathedral with the sect of Gothics than to quarrel with Rotwang about the magician s
house.
In Metropolis, in this city of reasoned, methodical hurry, very many would go far out
of their way rather than to pass close by Rotwang s house. It hardly reached to the
knees of the giants standing

be used in the military. Others say that the Second Amendment gives them the right
to have guns and use it for protection. This was for if any person tried to attack them,
they would have protection with them at all times. Later on, guns got used for the
wrongs reasons. More crimes were being develop, like the assassination of President
John F. Kennedy. Now, people want more restrictions on gun
ownership and how it
should be used. If some restrictions were to be made, some say it will not make
much of a difference. Guns use had lead to violence in the past, but also it coud be a
good protection for humans against attackers. The argument that may still be going
on today is if the United Statesshould put more restrictions on gun ownership and
use. The reasons why people are still asking for more restrictions is because more
crimes and shooting as been happening lately. There were about 126 mass shootings
around 2001 to 2014. The opponents of this issue think that if more restrictions were
made, that would not change the fact that there would be as much shootings as there
was. Reasons to believe this was that even with more restrictions, shootings would
still go on. Nothing would stop the criminals from killing others. Now,
The Long Lasting Effects Of The Deepwater Horizon On
The...
This essay will discuss the long lasting effects on the economy from the explosion
on the DeepWater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The events that took place
on April 20, 2010 would go down in history as the worst deep sea oil spill in
history. British Petroleum would suffer its greatest lost to date when one of its
drilling rigs the Deepwater Horizon would blow up in the Gulf of Mexico
(Crandall, Parnell Spillan, 2014). In the days and weeks following the explosion
there were signs of a problem that were overlooked after test came back
inconclusive on one of the pressure systems. The Deepwater Horizon was not
owned by BP, but leased through a company called Transocean. Transocean is
understood to be one the largest offshore drilling contracting companies in the
world. With BP leasing the equipment from Transocean, it cost an estimated
$533,000 a day. Many would come to believe that the costly daily expense would
also be the reason BP overlooked issues such as not having enough centralizers.
The machine was designed to operate with 24 with only six on hand BP would
soon make a decision that they would later regret. In addition to being warned by
Halliburton a company designated to fix the cement, BP would opt out to continue
on with the mission. This would be one of several key factors that would soon
indicate a series of problematic events that would transpire on that dreadful day in
April 20, 2010. The Deepwater Horizon has a series of steps to complete in
Endermologie Research Paper
Body contouring is defined as altering the shape of the body. There are many ways
that the body can be contoured. Many contouring treatments involve surgery. Any
operation can be risky, and it can take a long time to recover. Fortunately, you can
contour your body without surgery by getting endermologie. What Does
Endermologie Do? Endermologie is a treatment that uses a LPG Cellu M6
Keymodule. This device has been approved by the Food And Drug Administration
for body contouring and cellulite reduction. In fact, endermologie is currently the
only treatment that has been FDA approved for reducing cellulite. It can also reduce
cellulite. The LPG Cellu M6 Keymodule is applied directly to the skin. It suctions
the area and deeply massages it. Endermologie is not a painful procedure. In fact,

It was developed back in the 1980s by Louis Paul Guitauy. It was first used to treat
burns. It helps prevent the skin from contracting. It also helps loosen up scar tissue.
Scientists discovered that endermologie can also reduce cellulite. Today,
endermologie is performed in over 70 countries in the world. It is estimated that
70,000 women use this treatment every day. Additionally, 3,000 dermatologists and
plastic surgeons endorse this treatment. Other Benefits Of Endermologie Treatments
Body contouring and cellulite reduction are not the only benefits that can be reaped
from getting endermologie. Athletes get endermologie because it can help reduce
muscle soreness. It can also help soften the tissue, which increases flexibility.
Furthermore, it makes it easy for people to recover after doing vigorous exercise.
Results Of Endermologie Endermologie can deliver amazing results. However, it is
important to note that most people will need to get more than one treatment. In fact,
many people will need to get six or more treatments. People can maintain the results
of this treatment by getting maintenance
Apparel Industry Wage And Sweatshop Industry s Wage
Rate
Everyone knows that many big and prestigious companies such as Gap, Nike and
Old navy are manufacturing there products in third world countries. And the third
world countries are famous for the sweatshops and the brand companies who want
the production cost less for maximum profit are working as a fuel to this industry.
In this essay we are going to see that most of the jobs provided by sweatshops do not
provide an average standard of living to its employees. We are going to compare the
apparel industry wagerate and sweatshop industry s wage rate. The atmosphere of
the workplace also a factor to look upon and we will come to know why it is a
living hell .We love to shop and we always want everything at the cheap price. Don
t you want Gucci, Prada and many other branded accessories and cloths at its
cheapest price? This is where sweatshop comes into existence .Sweatshops can be
defined as a shop or factory in which employees are forced to work long hours at
low wages under poor conditions. Workers get abused verbally as well as mentally
by their employers. Even some major brands have agreed that their product is
manufactured in the sweatshops. Sweatshops are basically located in the area or
country where employers can get the cheapest labour as well as the maximum
labour which are illiterate so they won t know what their rights are to be working in
a factory. Sweatshops are mainly in garment industry where many laws are violated
related to employees such as forced long
Evidence In Mandel s Evidence
The set of archive images that constitute Sultan and Mandel s Evidence, were the
culmination of two years research within an array of government agencies,
educational institutions and corporations: from the Aeronutronic Ford Corporation,
Newport Beach to the Veterans Administration Hospital, Palo Alto. The artists were
granted access to millions of photographs within these spaces and therein embarked
on a critical process of appropriation. As Sultan states, Mike and I, through the act of
selection, became authors (BAMPFA, 2012). Throughout the work we are focused on
the notion of the photographas index: the trace of a footprint on wet paving slabs, a
passport photo next to a hand print in sand. Despite this very specific reference the
status of the photograph, as an empiric document, is continually questioned, not least
in the title of the work. The concept of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or, put another way, how one can use the language and the structure of an object to
subvert its function. As Mandel states it is that, duet between a depicted document
and a world that is out of control (BAMPFA, 2012). The photographs seem to have a
transparent nature that is illustrative, but in the context of the artwork, devoid of the
original information structure they once had, they are weird and fascinating. We are
directed to experiments, to physical journeys into the substrata of spaces, into tunnels,
down holes, into freezing basements, inside machines. The focus of an object within
some of the photographs may be intended for post production cropping. However
objects are only half isolated within the confines of the image through the creation of
makeshift studio spaces. In this context participants are absorbed within the confines
of their activity, and by implication a system of meaning that we, as the audience, are
not privy
Why Is Robert Lowell Confessional Poetry
Robert Lowell is a brilliant writer and poet. He is one of the geniuses of his time.
Paul N. Calvert said, The period in which Robert Lowell wrote has been called The
Age of Lowell, a testament to his genius as a poet, and this poet was truly a genius.
Lowell was born on March 1, 1917 and died on September 12, 1977. Throughout his
lifetime, Lowell wrote many poems and even a few books, but he is mostly famous
for his works of poetryand the movement in which he utilized. Lowell is famous for
complying with the form of Confessional Poetry, a literary term which will later be
defined. Some poems demonstrate this movement more than other poems, but most,
if not all, of Lowell s poems contain the ideas of Confessional Poetry. These poems
often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this poem is one of the most prominent. Temple Cone simply stated that
Skunk Hour is an important example of confessional poetry and this is a true
statement. This poem also has aspects of Lowell s life; more specifically, aspects
of Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). The man in the poem is described as
ill and this depicts Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). Another clue that
points out that this is a Confessional Poem, is found in lines one through three:
Nautilus Island s hermit / heiress still through winter in her Spartan Cottage; / her
sheep still graze above the sea, (Lowell). These lines actually depict where Lowell,
a man who comes from a very old, upper class American family, spent several
summers: Castine, Maine. The setting of this poem alone tells the reader that this
is confessional poetry. The poem is set up in a place Lowell is very familiar with;
this is partly why this poem is considered Confessional. In the poem, the narrator
seems to be struggling in life and is almost depressed and then this skunk appears.
The skunk in the poem provides a counterforce to the devastating effects of the
world at large, and it distracts the speaker from his depression and therefore turn his
focus to survival rather than thriving (Cone). This counterforce or skunk can be seen
in the last two stanzas of the poem. Lowell describes the illness or depression that
the speaker is
Dave Matthews Band Influence
In the following paper we will discover the musical influence the Dave Matthews
Band has had on popular culture since its inception in 1991. We will discuss how
the band came to be and were its path over the last 24 years has taken them. The
members of the band both current and former will be reviewed and the musical
styling that they have contributed to make the DMB one of the most popular
bands in the world. Finally we will look at a list of accolades that this band has
garnard throughout its career. History The Dave Matthews Band was founded in
1991 in Charlottesville, VA. A young Dave Matthews worked as bartender at a place

Beauford he was approached to assist Dave Matthews with musical
accompaniment to his songs. Leroi Moore stayed with DMB till his passing in
August 2008 due to complications from an ATV accident he had early that year.
Stefan Lessard was still in high school when the idea of the Dave Matthews Band
was coming together. Lessard s serious and tireless attitude toward playing the bass

player and was ultimately asked to join the band at the age of

Waikato (black segment), Wellington (yellow segment), Canterbury (red segment),
and Otago (light blue) (SANZAR, 2012). This segmentation assumes that all

type of segmentation.
Demographic Segmentation. Possible demographic segmentation of NZ for marketing

household composition, income or gender. However, a report by Otago University
Lifestyles Research Group published last year proposes seven demographic

1.Progressives represent 20% of the NZ population, are well educated, mainly female,
community focused, and particularly concerned about environment and social issues.
2.Disengaged represent 15% of the NZ population, mainly middle aged, have limited
interest in social or political matters, and are willing to assume financial debt.

consumers, appreciate community, and personal well being.

The Effect Of Placebos And Their Effect On The Brain And
Body
Introduction
Henry Beecher (1904 1976) was a physician who treated wounded soldiers in
America during World War II. When he ran out of pain killing morphine, he decided
not to tell the wounded soldiers. Instead he kept telling them that he was giving them
morphine, while he was actually giving a saline. Surprisingly, almost 40 percent of
the wouded soldiers that were given the saline said their pain was actually reduced
by the treatment. Breecher had discovered what is called the placebo effect. (Beecher,
1955)
Currently we have more knowledge on placebos and their effect, as placebos are
getting more important in medicine. In this essay the main question is: What is the
effect of a placebo on the brain and body? The placebo effect is very important,
because it shows how important perception is and what the role of the brain is in
physical health. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A placebo, also called dummy pill, is a simulated or otherwise medically ineffectual
treatment for a disease or other medical condition. It could be a pill, a shot,
pharmacological therapy, or some other type of treatment. The thing all placebos have
in common is that they do not contain an active drug ingredient.
Sometimes patients given a placebo treatment will have a perceived or actual
improvement in a medical condition. This phenomenon is commonly called the
placebo effect or placebo response. The placebo effect occurs with both real and fake
medicins, because of the expectation of a patient that receives the treatment. The
expectations of a patient can also be negative. Then the treatment can cause negative
effects, which is known as the nocebo
Alex Scott Influences
There are many people that are influential in the world. Those people impact the
world in a positive way by them being nice, donating things needed and making a
difference. For example, an individual that shows these traits would be Alexandra
Scott. Alex is influential because of her accomplishments, admirable qualities, and
heroic acts.
One of Alex Scott s accomplishments that made her influential is her raising over 1
million dollars for cancer research. In the article 8 amazing kids who have changed
the world, it says Alex continued her lemonade stands throughout her life, ultimately
raising over $1 million toward cancer research. This shows her compassion,

In the article, 8 amazing kids who have changed the world, it says In 2000, just after
turning 4 years old, she informed her mother she wanted to start a lemonade stand to
raise money for doctors to help other kids, like they helped me. This shows that an
admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she
wanted to do something to help others. In addition, in the article Meet our founder:
Alexandra Scott, It says . She told her mother, When I get out of the hospital, I want
to have a lemonade stand. She wanted to give the money to doctors to allow them
to help other kids, like they helped me. This shows that an admirable quality that
made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she wanted to help people.
As said on How one girl s lemonade stand has raised $80 million and changed lives,
Although she lost her fight in 2004, Alex started a movement. The Alex s Lemonade
Stand Foundation celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend has inspired others
across the country to raise more than $80 million for cancer research. This quote
shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid
because she started something to help others. As you can see, those are some pieces
of evidence to support that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her
being a caring
Rainy River Valley Creative Writing
Contrary to its name, the Rainy River valley was anything but rainy on this
particular day.The day had an odd sense of stillness. It was too quiet for my liking,
it reminded me of a church during prayer, nothing dared to make a sound.Birds
didn t chirp, the wind didn t howl, and the leaves in the trees didn t move a
millimeter. I left it all to just another day and sat at the table with my apple and
paring knife, going over the priorities for the day. Midway through my list, i heard
the rumble of a ar engine, it automatically caught my attention due the fact that it
stood out in the quiet of the day. I met the heavy footsteps of the stranger at the
door. When i opened the old creaky door i had to back up and lift my head due the
fact that
Appointment Scheduling Paper
Outpatient clinic is a health care facility where patients are given treatment on same
day instead of hospitalizing them. Most clinics are staffed by Primary care providers
(PCPs) that are first point of contact between patients and health systems. PCPs
provide the majority of care, the patient receive during lifetime. Thus, it is essential
for outpatient clinics to achieve higher patient satisfaction and provide quality care.
Appointment scheduling system used in clinic lie at intersection of efficiency and
timely access. It have greater impact on generating smooth flow of patients and
resource utilization. A good appointment scheduling system can greatly improve
patient satisfaction by reducing waiting time and assuring timely access to... Show

Research by Alaeddini, Kai Yang and Reddy (2011) have attempted to predict the no
show probability of individual patient based on available historical data of clinic. In
research, they have used analytical technique like logistics regression to predict no
show probability of patient with data of over 3 years. Other studies have focused on
open access appointment scheduling. The technique is found to be effective in
reducing patient waiting time and appointment lead time. It allows patient to book
appointment just before 1 or 2 days. BY considering all problems, it can be concluded
that it is challenging to build outpatient appointment scheduling system with
capability to handle every problem and work well under all circumstances. Another
approach adapted in recent year is overlapping appointment scheduling . Anderson ,
Zheng, Sang Won Yoon , Khasawneh (2014) have developed Overlapping
Appointment Scheduling (OLAS) model that minimizes patient waiting time and
doctor idle time in outpatient clinic. The aim of the research is to find the optimal
overlap period between two consecutive scheduled appointment. In research, they
have proposed an analytical model with objective of minimizing total cost of patient
waiting time, doctor idle time and overtime. Service time is assumed to follow a
uniform distribution with slot length as
My Experience At Starbucks And Drinking Coffee
I sit in my kitchen every morning, with one eye open, listening to the sound of the
dripping water as it fills the clear decanter with black liquid gold. The smell of
hazelnut aroma fills the air and a sigh of relief escapes my breath knowing that it s
almost time to taste the delicious coffee that will awaken my senses and help me start
the new day. Coffee, also known as Joe, Dirt, Brew, Java, Jitter Juice, and Liquid
Energy, has been a staple in my family since I was a small boy. I still remember my
father hunched over the kitchen table reading the morning newspaper while drinking
a fresh cup of Joe. As an adult I have come to appreciate coffee especially in the
morning, relaxing with friends at Starbucks or an after dinner treat.... Show more

In addition, carbohydrates play an important role in the coffee bean.
Carbohydrates serve as an aroma binder in raw coffee beans. They help the quality
of coffee by contributing to its thickness and consistency. In other studies
carbohydrates in coffee have also been known as dietary fiber to assist probiotics
within the digestive system. Coffee is also the number one source of antioxidants.
This simple drink is concentrated with a group of antioxidants that are called
flavonoids. According to medical journals flavonoids possess antiviral, anti
allergic, anti platelet, anti inflammatory, and antitumor activities. Coffee has been
around for many first discovered in 850 A.D by a goatherder who noticed an
energetic change in the goats after eating the red berries. The name coffee comes
from the Kaffa region of Ethiopia where coffee trees grow wild (). Ethiopia is
considered a major exporter of Arabica coffee beans. Arabica trees grown in the
wild have been known to produce coffee beans for up to thirty years. Whereas the
shrub or small tree also known as Coffea, that grows 15 to 20 feet high, will produce
a mature fruit that looks like a cherry and contains two seeds that is surrounded by a
sweet pulp. In addition, coffee has been cultivated in warm climates

Essay About My Personality.pdf

  • 1. Essay About My Personality Describing one's own personality in an essay can be an incredibly challenging task. It's akin to trying to dissect oneself under a microscope while simultaneously juggling the complexities of self-awareness and introspection. The difficulty lies not only in articulating the various facets of one's personality but also in navigating the subjective nature of perception. To begin with, there's the inherent subjectivity in how we perceive ourselves versus how others perceive us. Our self-perception might be skewed by biases, insecurities, or idealizations. Additionally, attempting to distill the essence of one's personality into coherent paragraphs can feel like trying to capture lightning in a bottle. Personality is multifaceted, comprising a myriad of traits, quirks, beliefs, and experiences that shape who we are. Trying to encapsulate all of these complexities within the confines of an essay can feel like an exercise in futility. Moreover, there's the challenge of striking the right balance between self-reflection and self- aggrandizement. While the essay is meant to provide insight into one's personality, it's essential to avoid veering into narcissism or self-indulgence. Finding the delicate equilibrium between highlighting strengths and acknowledging weaknesses requires a nuanced approach to self- expression. Furthermore, writing about one's personality necessitates a level of vulnerability and introspection that can be uncomfortable for many. Delving into the depths of one's psyche and exposing vulnerabilities on paper requires courage and emotional resilience. It's akin to peeling back the layers of a proverbial onion, confronting truths about oneself that may be difficult to articulate, let alone share with others. In conclusion, crafting an essay about one's personality is a formidable undertaking fraught with challenges. It demands a delicate balance of self-awareness, honesty, and introspection, all while navigating the complexities of perception and self-expression. Yet, despite its difficulties, such an endeavor can yield profound insights into the intricacies of the human psyche. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. Staphylococcus Pneumonia Essay Ashley Calhoun October 6, 2014 Streptococcus pneumonia Streptococcus pneumonia is a pathogen with a niche in the upper respiratory tract of the human that has a two component signaling system. The two component signaling system has CPS accumulate extracellular to the cell, CPS eventually binding to the comD receptor, which stimulates auto phosphorylation of comE, the response regulator(1). This is a strictly fermenting microbe that tolerates oxygen s presence, also known as an aerotolerant pathogen (3). This microbe ferments glucose, a sugar, into lactic acid, in the lactic acid fermentation cycle. It also can ferment other sugars like sucrose or fructose. 20% of the strains that are clinical samples only grow anaerobically (3). When placed in the proper multifaceted medium S. pneumonia can replicate in 20 30 minutes. Since there are some many strain of streptococcus with different sugar branches it makes the microbe hard to be overcome by antibiotics (3). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Descriptive Essay About My Hometown A new friend of mine from Central America struggled when I asked him about his hometown. His expression first told of a welling of formative personal memories accompanied by a knowing smile on his face. With no words yet arriving and seconds ticking by, his face shifted with frustration at feeling mute, as if it were an impossibly monumental task to convey the essence, as he deeply felt, of his hometown the place of his birth and nurturing and land where still his parents and one grandparent dwell. Finally, in a linguistic dam burst, words gushed out in a geyser of information his eyes lit up, and his hands came alive as he related his meaningful images and a sense of the rhythm of life there. It emerged in random spasms of phrases about the morning chaos at busy food markets filled with shoppers, the lake with its neon green and red birds, and his favorite place a quiet hill top overlooking fields of sugar cane where shirtless workers gathered the harvest. Then it was my turn to explain to him my hometown. I hardly knew where to begin. It, too, seemed an impossible task, and I am certain I blurted out in my own randomness various images that had made their mark on my memory. However, I knew that I had failed to relate any coherent statements. Later, I reflected on how to prepare myself better for the next time someone asked me about my hometown. I decided to pick out three characteristics I could focus on in order to bring coherence to my hypothetical future listener on the topic of the place I come from. Having thought it through more, I have confidence now regarding what to say. Jacumba Hot Springs, a small town in California, can be defined in terms of its unique topography, its people, and its mineralwater. To begin, Jacumba Hot Springs has some unique geographical features. For example, huge boulders of an infinite variety of shapes are scattered across the land. I remember as a child climbing up the side of one particularly large ten footer on my grandfather s half acre. At the top of it was a flattened area which formed a natural seat from which he and I would sometime catch the rising moon on a beautiful summer evening. Besides the boulders, the view of the

  • 6. Analysis Of Francesco Petrach s The Ascent Of Mont Ventoux The beginning of the Renaissance brought many changes to the world. It became known as the Age of Exploration and it brought in a new perspective on art. This perspective on art is shown through anything from visual arts to literary art. This time period also introduced the rise of humanism. It brought into the picture a very optimistic view of humanity. This was shown especially in the work The Ascent of Mont Ventouxby Francesco Petrarch. This work refers back to Book X of Confessions by Saint Augustine when Petrarch reaches the top of the mountain. Although they are both dealing with the same passage, Petrarch and Augustine seem to interpret it in very different ways. Petrarch wrote the Ascent of Mont Ventoux as a young man. It is a letter to his former confessor, Dionigi di Borgo San Sepolcro, because he was in seminary school. The letter is essentially a travel journal about his journey up Mont Ventoux. Petrarch initially wanted to take this journey with his friends, but they either refused or were not up to his standards. He decide to just climb the mountain with his brother. At the beginning of the journey, Petrarch writes about his encounter with an old, cranky man in the foothills of the mountain. The man pretty much tells them that it is a dumb idea which just encourages them to finish the journey even more. They eventually reach the top of the mountain a few days later. At the top, Petrarch pulls out his copy of Confessions and reads a small portion. He

Theme Of Tintern Abbey By William Wordsworth Upon the very first reading of William Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey, on Revisiting The Banks of The Wye During a Tour, 13th July 1798 , one comes across the theme of memory and Wordsworth s love for nature ( themes frequently explored by Wordsworth in several of his poems). However, both these themes work in an inter connected and intertwined manner in the said poem. The very first line itself sets a nostalgic mood to the poem. It depicts Wordsworth s contemplation and reflection of the past. Five years have past; five summers, with the length of five long winters! And again I hear.... He wishes his readers and his sister to draw comfort and solace from him just as the nature gives him comfort and solace. Thus, keeping his memory

  • 9. Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley because even though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the action has different moral standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong. Most people agree that it is morally permissible to turn the trolley killing the one man to save people five and it is wrong to push a fat man from a bridge to save five people. Most people believe this because they know that there is a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone. Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which is why people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as
  • 10. Essay about The Benefits of Animal Testing are Too Great... Animal Testing Animal testing began when William Harvey used animals 400 years ago to find out how blood circulated through the body. The modern era of animal research however started about 150 years ago with the rise of physiology as a science. It was very different back then. There were no anesthetics or effective painkillers, so the animals suffered a great deal, as did patients. Scientists learned that putting animals, or humans through that type of torture was inhumane. Consider having to have a leg amputated, which was not uncommon in those days due to the fact that infections got very severe without the use of antibiotics, without even so much as an anesthetic to control the pain. Now the treatment is there to help the pain, so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very difficult, and in most cases simply not yet possible, to develop non animal methods to replace the use of living animals. (RDS 2006). There are many myths to animal testing. Many groups such as Animal Liberation Front (ALF) contest that domestic animals are not receiving their rights and that this is not justice. (BBC. 2006) However, studies have shown and proven that only 0.4% of all research animals are cats, dogs, and monkeys. 80% of animals being used are mice, rats, fish, amphibians, birds, rabbits, and the occasional pig or sheep. No matter what the animal, being used, a licensed breeder must specially breed it. Another issue that is a big deal, yet is easily justified is the anesthetics. Anesthesia is used to prevent suffering. Most procedures (60% in the UK) are so mild that giving an anesthetic would mean more suffering than the experiment itself. (RDS 2006). Members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ) suggested that animals are not the same as humans so there is no logical reason to why they should test products on animals. Obviously there are differences between animals and people. Under the skin or fur, the biology of humans and other mammals is surprisingly similar. People have the same organs, controlled by the same nerves and hormones, like other species. When there are differences, researchers know about them. The differences can actually help scientific

Nikeratos is impressed with the mask and comes to believe that it possesses special powers. Plato is moved into a house in Palace Park where Dionysios can keep a watchful eye on him. Nikeratos is also forced to end his traveling around the country because of the fighting. Plato is later released when the Carthaginians attack and war begins. After several years, peace is declared. This is good news for Nikeratos and other actors because tours can now be scheduled again. This allows Nikeratos to once again travel and interact with the powerful people of the era. At the same time, Dionysios is resolved to have Plato return. Dionysios uses Plato s loyalty to Dion as a method of manipulation. Dion encourages Plato to return to Syracuse in the hope that Plato can secure his own return. When Plato refused to return to Syracuse, where he is hated and threatened by the soldiers, his relationship with Dion becomes strained. Eventually, as the pressure Dionysios and Dion put on his friends builds, Plato agrees to return. Despite the return, Dion s property is sold and Dionysios shows no sign of recalling him. Dionysios is reportedly jealous of the relationship between Plato and Dion, as he himself now desires to be Plato s favorite. Dionysios continues his grudge against
  • 12. The Death Of The Funeral The Death of the Funeral Business Rough Draft In the essay The Death of the Funeral Business , the author Sandy Hingston repeatedly illustrates the different roles that technology plays in constructing modern funeral rituals. Over the past years, technology has become such a big part of our daily lives, that now funeral homes are changing rapidly to fit in with all of the technological advances that have been happening to the world around us. I believe that in The Death of the Funeral Bussiness Hingston works to describe how technology has changed the values society has towards death and decay writing about how technology has changed funerals and societies view them. The Death of the Funeral Business is an article explaining why the traditions of having a funeral have declined over the past years. According to some of the research that Hingston made, in 1998, only 24 percent of Americans were cremated compared to in 2012, where over 43 percent of Americans were cremated. Throughout the article Hingston explains why technology has been a huge impact on the decline of funeral traditions. Technology has advanced right before our eyes and most of us fail to realize, but now we revolve around technology. When people died years ago, they didn t leave much behind. For example, the only thing that Hingston s mom left behind was a single photograph that she wanted all of her grandchildren to have. Hingstons writes, Mom got her wish; her grandkids all have copies of that
  • 13. Fall of the House I must perish in this deplorable folly (Poe par. 11). With this statement, Roderick Usher seems to be both accepting and sealing his fate. The House of Usher was once a mighty and well respected family, but it has now dwindled down into almost nonexistence. Twins Roderick and Madeline are all that survive of this once proud race. A summons from Roderick to the unknown narrator of this story, a childhood friend of Roderick, sets the events in motion. He speaks of an illness and mental disorder which has become a great burden on him, and he wishes for the company of his dearest friend to help comfort and give some alleviation of his malady (Poe par. 2). It can also be understood that since they share this bond, they shall also suffer the same fate. Kathleen Wilson states the house as isolated, decayed and full of the atmosphere of death... represent[ing] the dying Usher family (56). Once the last surviving members of the family die, the house will lose all importance and meaning, dying away along with its inhabitant. However, what happens when a bond between house and family becomes so strong? From what Poe has written, it seems as though they begin to possess a single soul. After the completion of their ballad, Roderick tells the narrator that he believes in the sentience of all vegetable things (Poe par. 19). In other words, he believes that all things, no matter how primitive, have some sort of conscious understanding. Now that the only surviving members of the Usher race are twins Madeline and Roderick, the house itself senses it is in danger of becoming extinct and takes control. It traps Roderick and pushes him to continue the family line with his sister, allowing the House of Usher to continue on surviving. Roderick even develops an acute bodily illness... which oppressed him (Poe par. 2). He suffered much from a morbid acuteness of the senses. The most insipid food was alone endurable; he could wear only garments of certain texture; the odors of all flowers were oppressive; his eyes were tortured by even a faint light; and there were but peculiar sounds,
  • 14. A Soldier s Home Essay Wars have various implications of monumental significance to the entire society and humanity as a whole. This is mainly because of the wanton destruction that occurs in the course of reaching amicable solutions to disputes. The First World War was fought on an unprecedented scale in the history of mankind. In Soldier s Home, Ernest Hemmingway highlights the predicament of a youthful soldier upon his return from military duty in Europe. Harold Krebs finds it difficult to fit into the society once he returns from active duty in the World War I . This paper compares the life of the soldier before and after returning to his hometown after war. It becomes apparent that the negative implications of war endure long after the wars come to an end. Various factors make Harold Krebs s story especially fascinating. Firstly, his case is unique among his hometown counterparts for one reason. Krebs happened to be a member of the second division, which did not get home until one year after the War s completion. He returned to Oklahoma in 1919, a whole year after his colleagues from other divisions returned home (Hemmingway). By this time, men who were drafted from the town had already been elaborately welcomed back into the society. Nobody seemed to understand why Krebs had to come back so late after the War s completion. One cannot help but sympathize with the returning soldier following the cold reception he gets back home. Everybody else has since settled in and adjusted to life in

The life of a student is very different to other age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and pressurised as the importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened because of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well being of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health needs to be taken into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The purpose of this essay is to assess the relationship between academic obstacles and facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic performance, as well as how it may affect the well being of the student. When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam time or when assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to manage their time properly in order to get their work done on time, or simply not being able to cope with the nature of the work. It is argued that students who are experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in their studies (Salanova, Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel exhausted will experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards their work. While those who have positive feelings

  • 18. Ancient Mystery of Malaria Ancient Mystery of Malaria Malaria is a disease that has wrought history since the dawn of time itself. It has conquered some of the mightiest warlords in history including Tutankhamen, Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan. The earliest records of malaria symptoms date back to 2700 BCE, first described in the Nei Ching, an ancient Chinese medical script. The Chinese described the prominent symptoms of malaria, discussing the connection between recurring fevers and enlarged spleens. In 1550 BCE the Ebers Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian medical script, mentioned patients suffering from fevers, shivering, vomiting, convulsions and also enlarged spleens. In 600 BCE records of malaria like fevers rampant in Mesopotamia were found documented on cuneiform tablets. By 400 BCE the symptoms of malaria became widely recognizable in Ancient Greece, where malaria was held responsible for huge population declines in large cities and states. Hippocrates, traditionally regarded as the father of modern medicine, documented the main symptoms of malaria and made extensive notes in the literature of the time. He was also the first to recognise the relationship between occurrences of fevers and close proximity to stagnant waters. The Romans also discovered this connection between fevers and swampy marshes and notably pioneered the first preventative efforts against malaria by draining these swamps. Thus from the medieval Italian language the term malaria was coined: mala aria

Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pets can fill a void in an owner s life, by allowing them to nurture something and receive a sense of satisfaction. Socially pets have become so much a part of our daily lives that they are often treated as if they were children, some lucky pets even attend daily play sessions, and are treated to extreme indulgence; all to make their owner feel as if they were an infant or a child. Blind owners rely on their seeing eye dogs to guide them around wherever they go; they are trained to guide them past and around obstacles. The National Institute of Health states, More than half of all U.S. households have a companion animal. Pets are more common in households with children, yet there are more pets than children in American households. There are more than 51 million dogs, 56 million cats, 45 million birds, 75 million small mammals and reptiles, and uncounted millions of aquarium fish (np). Many movie stars and rich and famous people have begun using pets as a status symbol. Millions of dollars are spent finding the perfect and most valuable pet even to the extent that the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need for high status and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they live with. Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result in an animal of inferior security and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and violent temperament. In an attempt to

To successfully BASE jump one must bound from an exit point , and free fall from very high places. People say it s too dangerous, and should be outlawed completely. On the other hand, people like the late Dean Potter used to successfully jump with his dog in a backpack as he would leap off cliffs falling as much as 3000 feet towards the ground. BASE jumpingis amazing, and isn t for everyone, but it should at the least remain someone s choice to do it or not in my opinion. Its known as BASE jumping, and BASE is an acronym that stands for buildings, antennae, spans, and earth such as cliffs and mountains (Tara L. Allman). These are all places BASE jumpers hurdle from. They go to these places to perform their sport, leaping off into the void and free falling. Before smashing into the ground, they deploy their parachute. There is a high likelihood you will die if you make any mistakes. So you are effectively saving your own life every time you do it. Simple right? Not by a long shot. This sport is a huge undertaking. You start off a student, and only after years learning under a mentor, do you get to wear the invisible badge of BASE Jumper. BASE jumping is widely viewed by the public as dangerous and too risky. In many countries and states of the US, BASE jumping is illegal. In addition, not only is the act of jumping illegal, but BASE jumpers are often trespassing on someone s property to

A Summary OfThe Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus In The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, Faustus struggles with the conflicting forces of honoring his desires and giving into the desires of his egos, going against his better instincts (man versus himself). • 27. Baroque Art And The Baroque Era Baroque Ornamentation The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes improvised outlet for period musicians that spurred from human instinct to manipulate melodic material. This urge to change melodic material by altering the rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music including Gregorian chant, which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of ornamentation. It can be seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music. Although improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows itself in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers use improvisation as a means of self expression and a way to express composer intent. During the Baroque era, there were many different styles and methods of ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and composer of a piece of music. Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the development of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from about 1600 to 1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and in harmonic complexity. Composers also relied on the performers ability to add ornamentation and to complete the harmonies in a basso continue score through improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line with numbers and symbols written above, to indicate the

To control commutation timing, rotor position is sensed and used for timing the switching of the output transistors to control the motor in the motor windings. The Brushless DC motor is a rotating electric motor consisting of stator armature winding and rotor permanent magnets. . It has permanent magnet which makes it have a high ratio between torque and motor size and also suitable for applications where space and weight are critical for example, in satellite applications. The brushless DC motors are becoming more popular in low and medium power applications due to the characteristics they have such as better speed versus torque characteristics, high dynamic response, high efficiency, noiseless operation and higher torque to weight ratio. They also have a long life span. With rapid development in power electronics, semiconductor and manufacturing technology for high performance magnetic materials, the brushless DC motors have been used for energy savings applications such as air conditioners, refrigerators, air pumps, kitchen appliances and electric vehicles. With the help of the criterion of verifiability, Ayer is able to test whether any sentence has factual significance or not. He then concludes that metaphysical propositions lack factual significance because they fail to satisfy even the weaker sense of verifiability in principle. Ayer proceeds to argue that metaphysical propositions are nonsensical since they neither have factual significance nor belong to the category of a priori propositions. This argument is mainly successful as to eliminate metaphysics from sensible knowledge, except there are two parts susceptible to attack. As philosophers, we are most interested in sentences with factual significance because we are after genuine knowledge that concerns matters of fact. The criterion of verifiability is formulated to test whether a sentence is factually significant or not. Defined by Ayer, a sentence is factually significant to any given person if, and only if, he knows how to verify the proposition which it purports to express. (Language, Truth , and Logic; Ayer, 6) For empiricists like Ayer, it is accepted that empirical evidence is the first source of genuine knowledge we have about the real world. It naturally follows that when empiricists verify a proposition, they make relevant observations and set up experimentations that will help them accept or reject the proposition. I agree with Ayer because I find there is nothing more genuine than senses I experience; and I am not obliged to make sense out of nonsensical things. We encounter factually significant propositions everywhere. For instance, Bruce is a student from UCLA. This proposition is factually significant because we can verify it by calling the registration office. However, there is the proposition that has no factual content. Therefore, its truth value is independent of empirical evidence. This proposition is of such a character that the assumption of its truth, or falsehood, is consistent with any assumption whatsoever concerning the nature of his future experience ... The house had lived through the time of smoke and soot. Every year which passed over the city crept, when dying, into this house, until at last the house was a cemetery filled with dead years. Yes, even the thieves and the rogues, who were promised remission of their sentence provided they declared themselves ready to pull down the magician s house, preferred to go to the pillory, or even to the scaffold, rather than enter the spiteful walls, past the latchless doors, which were sealed with Solomon s seal. Later on, guns got used for the wrongs reasons. More crimes were being develop, like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Now, people want more restrictions on gun ownership and how it should be used. If some restrictions were to be made, some say it will not make much of a difference. Guns use had lead to violence in the past, but also it coud be a good protection for humans against attackers. The argument that may still be going on today is if the United Statesshould put more restrictions on gun ownership and use. The reasons why people are still asking for more restrictions is because more crimes and shooting as been happening lately. There were about 126 mass shootings around 2001 to 2014. The opponents of this issue think that if more restrictions were made, that would not change the fact that there would be as much shootings as there was. Reasons to believe this was that even with more restrictions, shootings would still go on. Nothing would stop the criminals from killing others. Now,

The events that took place on April 20, 2010 would go down in history as the worst deep sea oil spill in history. British Petroleum would suffer its greatest lost to date when one of its drilling rigs the Deepwater Horizon would blow up in the Gulf of Mexico (Crandall, Parnell Spillan, 2014). In the days and weeks following the explosion there were signs of a problem that were overlooked after test came back inconclusive on one of the pressure systems. The Deepwater Horizon was not owned by BP, but leased through a company called Transocean. Transocean is understood to be one the largest offshore drilling contracting companies in the world. With BP leasing the equipment from Transocean, it cost an estimated $533,000 a day. Many would come to believe that the costly daily expense would also be the reason BP overlooked issues such as not having enough centralizers. The machine was designed to operate with 24 with only six on hand BP would soon make a decision that they would later regret. In addition to being warned by Halliburton a company designated to fix the cement, BP would opt out to continue on with the mission. This would be one of several key factors that would soon indicate a series of problematic events that would transpire on that dreadful day in April 20, 2010. Evidence In Mandel s Evidence The set of archive images that constitute Sultan and Mandel s Evidence, were the culmination of two years research within an array of government agencies, educational institutions and corporations: from the Aeronutronic Ford Corporation, Newport Beach to the Veterans Administration Hospital, Palo Alto. The artists were granted access to millions of photographs within these spaces and therein embarked on a critical process of appropriation. As Sultan states, Mike and I, through the act of selection, became authors (BAMPFA, 2012). Throughout the work we are focused on the notion of the photographas index: the trace of a footprint on wet paving slabs, a passport photo next to a hand print in sand. Despite this very specific reference the status of the photograph, as an empiric document, is continually questioned, not least in the title of the work. The concept of... In this context participants are absorbed within the confines of their activity, and by implication a system of meaning that we, as the audience, are not privy

Temple Cone simply stated that Skunk Hour is an important example of confessional poetry and this is a true statement. This poem also has aspects of Lowell s life; more specifically, aspects of Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). The man in the poem is described as ill and this depicts Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). Another clue that points out that this is a Confessional Poem, is found in lines one through three: Nautilus Island s hermit / heiress still through winter in her Spartan Cottage; / her sheep still graze above the sea, (Lowell). These lines actually depict where Lowell, a man who comes from a very old, upper class American family, spent several summers: Castine, Maine. The setting of this poem alone tells the reader that this is confessional poetry. The poem is set up in a place Lowell is very familiar with; this is partly why this poem is considered Confessional. In the poem, the narrator seems to be struggling in life and is almost depressed and then this skunk appears. The skunk in the poem provides a counterforce to the devastating effects of the world at large, and it distracts the speaker from his depression and therefore turn his focus to survival rather than thriving (Cone). This counterforce or skunk can be seen in the last two stanzas of the poem. Lowell describes the illness or depression that the speaker is
