According to Smith and Stulz (1985), firms that face higher expected costs of
financial distress have larger incentives to use derivatives because derivatives can
reduce the present value of bankruptcy and the probability of financial distress.
Firms can use derivatives to reduce the variance of a firm s cash flow or earnings
which enable firm to have sufficient cash flow to fulfill its fixed payment
obligations and reduce the probability of financial distress (Aretz and Bartram,
2010; Supanvanij and Strauss, 2010). Similarly to previous studies, I have used
leverage as a proxy for financial distress (e.g., Tufano, 1996; Rogers, 2002; Aretz and
Bartram, 2010). Leverage is measured with the ratio of total debt to book value of
assets (e.g., Coles et al; 2006).
I include diversification as a control variable for firm focus. Earlier empirical
studies (e.g., Tufano, 1996; GГ©czy et al., 2007) suggest a negative relationship
between the degree of diversification and derivatives use. Firms can choose to
reduce firm risk through changing the level of diversification (Coles et al., 2006;
Bartram et al., 2011). For all the banks in the sample, I collect information on the
degree of diversification which is measured by the number of geographical
segments of the firm at the end of each year (GГ©czy et al., 1997; Fung et al.,

My name is George Fletcher and I over see the mediteranian arciological dicoveries. I
work for the MCPD the Medertaeranion Culteral Preservation Department. Pompeii
has given us so much unwritten history that we would have never known if it wasn
t for the city pompeii. The city is a one of a kind since it has been frozen in time of
the very day that mount versuvius erputed. It has given us nolage on not only the
rich and the weathly but also the common person. As a cultural preservationilist I
belive that such a site should be excivated, preseved and on display for the public
to see. This report will tell you some of the things that will be destroyed if you do
build a high rise on the site where pompeii lays. Things like the Architecture and the
day to day culture will never be seen because of something that could have been
preveted destroyed them.

This report is a compilation of our conversation with Karen Gordon Sosby, associate
director at the Texas State University Student Health Center made for an interview
report. Ms. Karan has been working at Texas state health center for 23 years. She
started her career with a public health degree in healtheducation and a business
degree in accounting and later moved to administration. Interestingly she has been
working at a single place from the start of her health administration career; she made
a remark on the disadvantage the younger generations most often face by being too

knowledge content alone is not enough for health administrators and communication
skills, soft skills and people skills are a necessity. She discussed on how health
administrators are expected to work on many Human resources aspects such as
employee s demands, employee employer conflicts, swift action in meeting their
needs and keeping organization needs intact. She said that the most important of
communication skills is dealing with patients while getting the news across without

Worldview
Worldview Reflection paper Philosophy is all about knowledge and the
comprehension of existence. It tries to answer many questions about our reality. In
fact, lots of philosophers, or as some are called, Humanists, wants to understand
the purpose of life and so, the human s status. In this essay, it will be discussed how
Worldviews can have many aspects and how interpretations of life might be
different from a person to another. In fact, Bertrand Russel s worldview will be
explained, as well as my worldview and how those two might or might not be similar.
As a starting point, Russel believes a lot in humans freedom (Norman, 5). He thought
that everyone should have a free will, do their own choices and use their intellectual
capacities as way of showing their Human dignity (Norman, 5). Moreover, he is
recognized as a secular humanist, which means that he does not believe in religion.
He thinks that humans should create a great environment of living not for God, but
for themselves (Norman, 5). Finally, Bertrand Russel does believe in sciences, in
fact Russel s description of reality is a mathematical, logical structure given to us in
circumscribed doses according to our subject positions (Briggs, 7). Briefly, he thinks
that everything has a scientific explanation which is one of the reasons he does not
believe in any religious explanations of the universe and have an atheistic worldview.
In addition, I would describe myself as a pacifist which is the belief that anything
can be done without violence and with equality. As a child, I used to play football
with my three brothers and our friends (which were all guys except me). Since I
was the only girl, I really had difficulties to be accepted or picked up in a team, and
each time was a real fight for my rights to play with them. This is why today I
cannot accept inequalities between sexes and I do not hesitate to take part of a
conflict in which girls are not considered equal. Furthermore, I always had animals
around me during my childhood so when I found an abandoned cat in the street two
years ago, I did not hesitate to take her with me and pay for the vaccines or other

Metaphors Used In Poetry
Poetry is a beautiful form of art. It can be written in many different fashions. The
author of the poem can choose to take it towards any direction they want to. The
types of themes and phrases used in the poem are the backbone of it. One of my
favorite literary devices used in poetry is metaphors. Metaphors are one of the best
literary devices to be put into a poem. Many poetry writers use metaphors. Modern
poets have an interested in the relationship of mind and matter so they use metaphors
in their writings to help fill in the gap between them (Getz). The famous poet John
Donneis known for using them throughout his writings. He used them so often I
think he tries to break his previous record of how many metaphors can I pack into
one poem every time he wrote a new one. If that is not the case then he must have
