Woodstock 1969 Case Study
As the intended event planner for Woodstock 2010, it is my responsibility to examine previous
Woodstock events (1969, 1994, and 1999) to assist in my preparation for this event. Furthermore, by
studying the past triumphs and failures, I can recreate the elements that worked and improve upon
the elements that were failures. Indeed, close attention will be paid to identifying the most critical
areas of concern, identifying three additional areas needing attention, and determining the previous
event s goals and objectives.
In my opinion, the most critical area of concern would be the damage to the Woodstock brand,
since poor management has led to violence and exploitation of festivalgoers, hosting communities,
and sponsors (Crowd Management Strategies, 2015). Another major area of concern is the
location that in 1999 was on Griffiss Air Force Base s concrete and tarmac surfaces versus 1969s
dairy farm location, which led the 1999 crowd to experience widespread heat exhaustion issues (19

First, crowd security was a serious issue at all the Woodstock events, with crowd surfing causing
a multitudes of serious injuries and festival crashers causing significant overcrowding of the
location (19 Worst Things..., 2014). Second, the band line up at Woodstock 69 was a cohesive
group of artists that attracted a specific type of crowd, however, in 1994 and especially 1999 the
groups scheduled to perform were from completely different styles of music, which led to nu metal
bands following a rap performer (19 Worst Things..., 2014). Third, the refreshments were also a
serious problem at Woodstock 99 where they offered bottled water and food at extremely inflated
prices, which led along with the high temperatures, it is speculated, to the vandalism of vendor
booths on the final day of the festival (19 Worst Things...,

John Forbes Nash Research Paper
John Forbes Nash, was born on June 13, 1928, in Bluefield, West Virginia, a former coal town
deep in the Appalachian mountains. His mother, Virginia, who was also very intelligent, was a
former teacher who had big dreams for her son, she taught him how to read, learn Latin at the age
of 4(Nash, 2). When growing up children are usually really active in playing sports or just playing
with toys outside; however, Nash s parents noticed that he had a great interest in education at a very
young age. On which they started enthusiastically encouraging Nash s education by buying his
science books, coloring books, and being self taught by his mother while his father would work.
In high school Nash s parents, pursued opportunities to supplement his education by making him
take advanced mathematics courses at a local community college called Carnegie Institute of
Technology. Nash was later given a full scholarship for his outstanding performances in
mathematics, the George Westinghouse Scholarship, which led him to major in chemical
engineering. During his last semester before graduating, Nash came in contact with John Synge

The Death of Emmett Till
There are several views of the murder of Emmett Till regarding the topic of whether or not he
received justice. Emmett Till, a fourteen year old boy, was murdered purely based on racism,
because he was killed for wolf whistling at a white woman in August 1955. He was brutally
murdered after being nearly beaten to death and having his eyes gouged out. When Roy Bryant
and J.W. Milam, two people involved in Till s manslaughter, were placed on trial for his murder,
they were pronounced innocent and did not receive any punishment. After being tortured and
savagely killed, no one was held responsible for Emmett Till s death. Emmett Till did not receive
justice after his death.
Emmett Till did not receive justice, because from his death and throughout his trial, everything was
based upon racism. Till s case was examined in court by an all white jury, who had most likely
made up their minds before the trial had even started. According to The death of Emmett Till ,
On September 23, the all white jury deliberated for less than an hour before issuing a verdict of
not guilty, ... ( Death 2) That is an extremely short time for a jury to deliberate, and it leads to
questions of whether or not the jury truly deliberated, or if it was a cold case of a black boy
being punished for flirting with a white woman. The courthouse in which Emmett Till s murder
trial took place was also segregated, showing that the defendant s guilt of murdering a black person
was being deliberated in

Aerosmith s Walk This Way
The song Walk This Way performed and written by the American rock band Aerosmith has always

This song is great for numerous reasons. In the opening of the song there is a drum solo played by
Joey Kramer. The solo is followed by a main riff from Joe Perry, repeated for a short time, and then
is played throughout the song in after about two or three stanzas. In the song a well heard beat
by Joey Kramer on drums is played which makes me want to tap my foot to the song. The chorus
which consists of the song title Walk This Way is well known by many and is one of the best
parts of the song. There is a great melody in the song and a guitar solo in the middle of the song
played by Joe Perry that makes me, and most people familiar with the song, want to either learn
how to play or air guitar to. This song also has a medium tempo that makes people want to nod
their heads to or dance. I Some of the lyrics that stood out to me was, I took a big chance at the
high school dance... This part of the song caught my attention because I noticed how he was
talking about his past life and a brief description of his high school experience. The last lyric that
stood out to me was, I was a high school loser, never made it with a lady... This intrigued me
because of how he admits to how bad he was in high school, but is comparing his past self to
himself now as a superstar. Steven Tyler s lyrics stood out to me and made the song much more
interesting. Walk This Way is one of Aerosmith s greatest songs and I

The Impact Of Multiculturalism And Multiracialism In...
Multiculturalism and multiracialism has become the proud hallmark of Singapore society today.
However, the issues that come together with them still seem to plaque the community even after
more than five decades. In retrospect, these issues are more protuberant in the implementation level
than at the policy making stage. The way Chua Beng Huat asserted in his paper titled
Multiculturalismin Singapore: an instrument of social control, it seems as though multiculturalism
and multiracialism are double edged swords which can cut both ways.
In the abovementioned paper, Chua (2003) asserts that under the CMIO (Chinese, Malay, Indian,

compared to the idea of multiculturalism, which is having different cultures and races co existing

culturally intolerant in certain aspects such as the sentiments of Singaporeans with regards to the
aftermath of the Little India Riots. Singaporeans had to be urged not to spread xenophobia (Sim,

Comparing Tale Of Genji And Ariwara No Narihira
The kishu ryЕ«ritan , or the exile of the young noble , is a recurring motif in Classical Japanese
literature where a young god or aristocrat undergoes a severe trial in a distant and hostile land as
punishment for a previous transgression (Haruo, 1987). With both the protagonists of the Tale of
Genji (Hikaru Genji) and the Tales of Ise (the anonymous man ) embarking on self imposed exiles,
this essay will examine the similarities and differences between the experiences of the two
characters, as well as the Heian socio political context that this literary trope reveals.
According to Ivy (1995), the theme of the wandering stranger god is one of the most important
literary...motifs in Japan . The formation of thematic oppositions such as exile and exclusion ,
travel and return in Japanese literature is significant in light of the socio political system of Heian
Japan (Ivy, 1995). Not only was the capital a primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often regarded as representatives of the irogonomi character type, both the protagonists are of the
aristocratic class and show a strong predilection for romantic entanglements, often multiple, with
the opposite sex (Levy, 2011). Their common status as connoisseurs of love and perfect Heian
courtier[s] , however, is also what led to their downfall (Sprague, 2011). In the Tale of Genji, Genji
becomes amorously involved with one of Kokiden s younger sisters, Oborozukiyo, who has
been promised to the future Emperor Suzaku (Bowring, 2004). Similarly, Narihira is described
in Episode 6 of the Tales of Ise to have for years courted a most inaccessible lady , who is
identified in the same episode as the future Empress from the Second Ward (Tales of Ise, 72 73).
The discovery of the affair with the consort is thus a common plot element within the two texts that
lead to the exile of Genji and Narihira (Commons,

Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes
Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in
our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every
negotiation involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem
solving. In the book Getting to Yes, the authors have not only identified the key issues in the
traditional negotiation process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually
acceptable agreements.
The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize
that the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over
their opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of
the participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective
negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have
clearly highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be
efficient and should not damage the existing relationship. A positional... Show more content on

As negotiators we should try to address the core concern behind emotions (autonomy, appreciation,
affiliation, role and status are some of the major concerns) and should ensure we do not knowingly
or unknowingly threaten the self image of the other person. The authors mention that instead of
hiding the emotions, it s wise to share them as both the parties may then jointly work to address
those emotions. This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may
sometimes lead to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. These emotional issues
can however be handled with simple gestures like an apology or a sympathy

The Causes Of Fast Food
The history of fast food is not long, but fast food has become a constant element of our lives.
Most people in the world recognize the logos of places like McDonald s or Burger King. A large
percent of the population at least once in their lives has eaten in a fast food bar; however, some
of them do it regularly and they cannot imagine that such bars could cease to exist. Over the years,
fast foods gained their supporters, but also opponents who only see evil in such places. I think the
reluctance to fast foodtriggers two important reasons.
First, fast foods contribute to obesity and increase its rates. The food served in fast food
restaurant catches our attention with good smell and taste. Unfortunately, the food offered at such
places contains a lot of fat, calories and very often chemical components that adversely affect our
bodies. Frequent consumption of hamburgers, French fries, hot dogs, etc. causes bad eating
habits in children and leads to slow weight gain, which over time becomes a serious problem.
Fast foods contain big amounts of salt and sugar that contribute to obesity, which leads to other
diseases such as diabetes, high pressure or circulation s problem. Most of them change our lives
and make them more complicated and less satisfying because we need bigger control of our food,
diet and we need to take medications. In Causes of Obesity and Overweight, Dr. Ananya Mandal
writes: Recent estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) show that in 2014, about

Evolution Of Dog Research Essay
It s likely no surprise to dog owners, but growing research suggests that man s best friend often acts
more human than canine.
Dogs can read facial expressions, communicate jealousy, display empathy, and even watch TV,
studies have shown. They ve picked up these people like traits during their evolution from wolves
to domesticated pets, which occurred between 11,000 and 16,000 years ago, experts say.
In particular, paying attention to us, getting along with us, [and] tolerating us has led to particular
characteristics that often mirror ours, says Laurie Santos, director of the Yale Comparative
Cognition Laboratory. (Read more about how dogs evolved in National Geographic magazine.)

Even more surprising is that the untrained dogs often glanced back and forth between her and the
door, baffled at what she was looking at. The behavior, only seen before in humansand chimps, is
called check backs or double looking, she said. (Read about war dogs in National Geographic
magazine.)
It s a lesson for us all that we should always examine whether training has an effect in these types
of studies, says Wallis.
Next Steps in Dog Research
In humans, aging hastens declines in short term memory and logical reasoning skills, making it
more difficult to learn new tasks. Previous research has found similar declines in dogs, but long
term memory is a little known aspect of dog biology. (See Many Animals Including Your Dog May
Have Horrible Short Term Memories. )
That s why Wallis and colleagues are studying how dogs both young and old memorize tasks, and
whether the animals can remember them months later.
The results are still in the works, but Wallis expects to discover that it s tough but not impossible to
teach old dogs new tricks.

The Greatest Heroes Of Stephen Hawking
Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change (BrainyQuote) This is a quote from the famous Stephen
Hawking, which shows that intelligence is not measured by how much you know, but rather by
what you do with what you know. Stephen Hawking has continually showed the many
characteristics of a hero through his life, even while fighting with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Stephen Hawkinggrew up in England and was diagnosed with ALS at a very young age. However,
he did not let this stop him from shaking the foundations of science forever. Stephen Hawking is
considered one of the greatest heroes in science due to his perseverance and courage in relation to
his medical handicap and the lack of information on his field.
A hero is someone who makes the choice to do what others lack the strength to do, who has
courage like no others, who puts others needs before theirs, and someone who does this without
the thought of external gain. A true hero is someone who shows a concern for other people in
need... knowing there is a personal risk (Zimbardo). The core qualities at the center of any hero
are persistence, courage, and selflessness. Courage is defined as the mindset that enables a person
to face danger without fear, while selflessness is prescribed as the ability to put other s needs
before yours. The most important quality of a hero is persistence and is described
Thompson 2 as the continuance on the journey towards a goal or action in spite of difficulty or
opposition. Keeping

A cardiac monitor is essential in continuous monitoring of the patient, but a 12 lead EKG has the
benefit of being able to better pinpoint the specific areas of the heart that are affected or damaged.
Blood sugar can be obtained from a drop of blood with a glucometer such as One Touch, or it may
be obtained along with the serum chemistry and electrolyte analyses from the lab. A glucometer is
a quick and easy way of determining the blood glucose level. Mrs. Baker is a diabetic, and is on
an antidiabetic drug, Metformin. Her change in mental status could be due to low blood sugar.
This would be easily diagnosed with a glucometer, and easily treated with IV glucose, so it

easier way to obtain a blood sugar level, while a serum glucose may be more accurate at
extremely high or low levels. Pulse oximetry can be done with a dedicated pulse oximeter, or it

Police Brutality
Slave vs. Master on Police Brutality and Victims
Police brutality is regarded as the abuse of power through the unnecessary use of excessive power
in several aspects of the law enforcements. It occurs when law enforcement officers offer official
duties to the public. Police brutality also involves the abuses through the correction of personnel in
state, federal, and municipal penal facilities inclusive of military prisons. Meanwhile, it causes

Several factors lead to police brutality such as the selfishness of the officers of the law enforcement.
This selfishness is visible through the police brutality s systematic patterns. Some of the law
enforcement officers perceive the population or a specific subset of the population as specifically
deserving punishment. Alternatively, some parts of the population identify the officers of law
enforcement as oppressors. Furthermore, there exists a perception that the police brutality victims
often belong to the comparatively powerless groups like cultural and racial minorities, the poor, and

Technology And Technology Summary
Technology is slowly ruining people s lives by, drawing them inside, sitting for hours, destroying
their communication skills while not being active or healthy. People barely speak to each other
unless through text on a screen, and kids rarely play outside because they have the ability to watch
TV or use social media. (Danielle Stone) This is coming from somebody who at the moment is
inside writing this on a computer. According to Sam Anderson, author of Just One More Game... ,
technology is drawing people away from reality. Anderson supports this article well, but fails to
go into detail about what it is really doing to people. Anderson gives lots of good examples in his
article, about how technology is coming a big distraction to society, by talking about what video
games are doing. He says that Instead of just passing their work around to one another on blogs,
independent game designers suddenly had a way to reach everyone not just hard core gamers,
but their mothers, their mailmen and their college professors. . (Anderson) This provides a good
example to the audience of this article, that with technology advancing it was easier for anyone
and everyone to use it. Anderson keeps using good examples to suck his audience in, by
continuing to tell how it is affecting us. He tells us how a new invention came about, making it
easier to get a hold of game. Then, in 2007, the iPhone appeared. Games were much easier to

The Ku Klux Klan ( Kkk )
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) came into being in 1865 and was widespread in the southern states of
the USA. It was founded by former Confederate veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee. It was a
movement, formed after the civil war of America, to oppress the Republican Party s policies of
reconstruction. Few years after its formation, the movement engaged in war, fear and hatred in the
war ravaged south. The group s activities during this period have had adverse effects on the
American society that still haunt them to date (Southern Poverty Law Centre, 2011).
Racial supremacy was the driving force of the group s initial driving force. Ku Klux Klan objectives
aimed at re establishing white authority throughout America. The southern states were
characterized by lawlessness and violence in an attempt to intimidate the black community and
sympathizers of the Republican s policies of slavery abolishment. The group has been powerful and

In this paper, we will concentrate on the movement s activities and defining moments from 1865

Bruno Mars Personification
The message of the song Just the way you are by Bruno Mars is that no matter what you think of
yourself, never attempt to put yourself down and always believe that you are beautiful, Just the
way you are. hence the title. A poetic device from the song that proves one of the messages is
Mars use of personification which he uses since occasionally, when you personify a situation, it
gives the non humanly object a more humanly meaning, and it also causes it sound more
interesting and engaging. For example, in the third stanza, Mars says, Her laugh, Her laugh/ She
hates but I think it s so sexy . As well as in the Chorus, he says, The whole world stops and stares
for a while . Through the use of personification, Bruno Mars shows how he... Show more content on

When he says, Her lips, her lips/ I could kiss them all day if she d let me. He is exaggerating this
point considering he cannot actually kiss her the entire day, as every human is compelled to eat,
breathe, go to the washroom, etc... But, he is saying that her lips are so beautiful, that he would
kiss them all day long if he could. Also he is saying that, her eyes make the stars look like they re
not shining. He is saying this due to the fact that he considers her eyes more beautiful than the
stars and that they shine brighter so he is exaggerating that he doesn t even need to glimpse at
the stars as long as he has his girlfriend s eyes, as they are the best things to stare at. This proves
the message because his girlfriend keeps asking him throughout the song if she is extremely pretty
or if she looks okay, but Bruno Mars himself, says that she is perfect no matter what and she
honestly needs to start believing that she is beautiful and needs to stop putting herself down and to

Essay about Are Tattoos Appropriate in the Workplace
Title: Are Tattoos Appropriate in the Workplace?
AIU
ENG106
October 25, 2014
Abstract
Topic: Can having tattoos stop you from getting the job you want?
Intervention Strategy: I used brainstorming for my essay. I came up with ideas to explain about
tattoos in the workplace. Tattoos can stop you from getting the job you want. I feel that having a
tattoo does not stop you from performing the job you are supposed to do. Does having a tattoo
prevent you from doing your work? Why are some employers against employees having a tattoo?
What harm is it to have a tattoo in the workplace? Does the first amendment support the fact of
getting denied a job for having a tattoo?

Are Tattoos Appropriate In The Workplace?
Having a tattoo in the workplace doesn t hinder you from doing your job; just some employers are
looking for a reason not to hire a person. Tattoos do not prevent a person from performing their
job. This is just a way that a person may express themselves. Some people may have a tattoo as a
memorial of someone special to them that have passed on. When choosing a career make sure
you choose one that will allow you to have tattoos. For example; if you choose to be a banker
you wouldn t want to be covered from head to toe with tattoos. You would want to make sure that
if you choose to have a tattoo it can be covered up. Here are examples of a job that would allow
you to have a tattoo and not have a problem if they are covered or not is a tattoo shop or even a
truck driver. But as a truck driver you still want to make sure they are not vulgar or violent. So be
careful where you get tattoos if you choose to have them and make sure they are appropriate for
the job field you choose.
Inappropriate Tattoos
Some tattoos are inappropriate for the workplace and should be covered. Tattoos that are vulgar
have profanity, or violent should not be in the workplace. If a person has one of these tattoos they
should make sure that it can be covered up. These tattoos can be offensive to an employer or other
employees.
Some tattoos can represent a sign of a gang or other

Morality, By Joan Didion
Morality in its basic definition, is the knowledge between what is right and what is wrong. In Joan
Didion s essay, On Morality, she uses examples to show how morality is used to justify actions and
decisions by people. She explains that morality can have a profound effect on the decisions that
people chose to make. I think that moralityis an idea that is different for every individual based on
morals and background.
In Joan Didion s piece, On Morality, she objectivity thinks that every individual has a different
conception of morality. She believes that each individual has their own meaning of morality and
that people use their own personal meanings to justify right versus wrong in life. I agree with
Joan Didion that people determine what is considered to be moral in their own opinions. Overall,
I believe that morality exists and that it is defined differently by each individual. I believe that
humans collectively require morality in order to prevent chaos and that everyone defines what is
right by their own personal opinion. Overall, as a society, I believe that morality is needed to draw
a thin line between the right and wrong whether they are based on law or morals.
In order to illustrate her point, Didion uses Klaus Fuchs and Alfred Rosenberg as examples. Fuchs
was a British traitor who leaked nuclear secrets to the Soviets while Rosenberg was a Nazi
administrator who was apart of the heinous and murderous acts during World War II. Didion adds
the quote, I

India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity
Introduction:
India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine.
Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples
of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on.
The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the
Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy
event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of
being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country,
nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into
Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid
coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous
traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the
formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble
solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein.
Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort
cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese.
As with the entire food industry within the country, the

How Darwin Has A Profound Effect Beyond The World Of Science
Darwin once said we all come from monkeys, but not literally. This quote was said by Hal in the
Malcolm in the Middle episode, Flashback. This is one of many examples of how Darwin has
had a profound effect beyond the world of science. Through analysis of several elements of pop
culture, one can see how their underlying themes are related to Darwin. The impact of Darwin s
principles can be seen in video games, literature, and television.
The relevance of Darwin s work can be observed in video games. For example, Darwin s theory of
natural selection can be applied to the general gameplay of PokГ©mon FireRed. Darwin states that
individuals with variations best suited for the habitat survive and reproduce. The protagonist in the
games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of move inheritance is similar to real life traits can be passed down. In a different
example, the Sonic franchise can be analyzed from the developer s point of view. The first Sonic
the Hedgehog game was created in 1991. It was well received because of its groundbreaking colors,
as well as the high speed nature of the game. The Sega company realized that Sonic appealed to a
wide audience, so naturally, future games are going to feature similar characteristics of the original
Sonic game. This concept is comparable to Darwin s idea that a species must survive to pass their
traits to the next generation (Darwin, Foundations 1). Sega essentially implements elements of the
old Sonic games, while at the same time adding new elements to improve the sequels. The theories
of natural selection and heredity provide for a scientific viewpoint of the PokГ©mon and Sonic
franchises beyond the entertainment.
Many literary works portray Darwinan principles. In Jeanne Duprau s The City of Ember, for
instance, a group of scientists known as The Builders create an underground city called Ember,
which has a generator and supplies for the citizens to survive at least 200 years. This city was
intended to protect its inhabitants from impending doom. About 240 years after the creation of this
city, the supplies become scarce, and the generator is decaying. It is up to the central characters,

Similarities Between Modernism And Transcendentalism
In the 19th century, transcendentalism a religious and philosophical movement that developed
during the late 1820s and 30s as a protest against the general state of spirituality and, in particular,
the state of intellectualism was most ubiquitous. As time moved into the late 19th century and early
20th century, the transcentalistic time period evolved into the realism and modernism a
philosophical movement that, along with cultural trends and changes, arose from wide scale and
far reaching transformations time period. Along with the shift of time periods, art started to change
as well. Modernist s art were more abstract and expressed the issues that were occurring; in contrast,
transcendentalists art focused on nature and staying to oneself. modernism is chaotic while
transcendentalism is idyllic. This switch from transcendentalism to modernism occurred due to
scientific innovation, industrialization, and the world war 1 which transitioned idyllic literature to
despair, bleak and abject feelings in literature and poetry. Scientific innovation, a newly introduced
idea that everything has to be proven by science in order to be accurate , begun heading into the
20th century. Science led to confusion, uncertainty and unrest... Show more content on

The House of Mirth, by Edith Wharton
Irony is common in realist novels that reveal the fall and/or rise of characters among other aspects.
It is mostly shown at the end which is usually tragic but tell readers the fate of the characters.
Realist novels have plausible events, with cause and effect in their stories what the characters desire
and the consequences they receive because of that. Realism in the novel, The House of Mirthby
Edith Wharton, was clearly shown through Lily Bart s characterwith its ironic ending that had both
her fall and rise as a character. She was known for her beauty in the novel; she made various
mistakes in the process of entering the high social status. Her physical beauty was not enough to

Yes, he could now read into that farewell all that his heart craved to find there; he could even
draw from it courage not to accuse himself for having failed to reach the height of his
opportunity (349). Lily s dead body on her bed in the last chapter reminded him of their times
together, and reassured him of the love he had for her throughout the story. The readers were
focused more on their romantic love and it was ironic that her dead body indicated the love. Her
unconsciousness helped Selden declare his love for her in silence.
The last, perhaps most ambiguous lines of the novel, He knelt by the bed over her, draining
their last moment to its lees; and in the silence there passed between them the word which made
all clear (350). The line draining their last moment to its lees suggests that it was their last
moment together, but she was not alive. It was his last moment with her, yet he was savoring it
as the last loving moment between them. Such a scene can come off as strange but it showed
that even with her unrecognizing face, he still loved her because, it was her real self (345). He
disregarded her appearance and condition to just stay by her side one last time; it took her dead
body for him to realize and reassure his feelings for her. It was her the loss that made their love
truer; even though she died, he realized, but at least he had loved her, had been willing to stake his

The New York Times Of India, And The Guardian The United...
The three different newspaper article providers that I chose are the New York Times, The Times
of India, and The Guardian the United Kingdom edition. The article that I chose to compare
between the three of them is about President Trump choosing his security advisors. I thought that it
would be something that would spark many different opinions on a recent debate would be
interesting to explore. The article itself is about President Trump choosing three of his new
advisors for CIA Director which he appointed Mike Pompeo, for Attorney General, Jeff Sessions,
and for National Security Advisor, Michael T. Flynn. It will be interesting to see what these
newspapers have to say about their opinion of these men and how they portray them.
The problem for many people is that people are afraid of what Donald Trump is going to try and do
with the United States government during his four years in the presidential seat. With his selection
of who he has asked to be leaders within his cabinet is another problem that the newly elected
President is going to have to face in the coming months. Many people in the U.S. are upset over his
picks due to the fact that they feel that they will be unfair and possibly unjust to the immigrants
living within the U.S. While the other portion of people here are looking forward to a new positive
change within their government with the new conservative leaders.

Analysis Of New Orleans After The Deluge
The Juxtaposition Graphic novels have the ability to portray multiple perspectives and can cleverly
represent as many groups an author believes is needed. What becomes the decision of the author is
which perspective deems more important or more fascinating. Depending on which the author
decides to portray, there tends to be different effects on the readers. Neufeld uses Scott s Mccloud s
ideas from Understanding Comics, such as adding detail to a character to differentiate them from
the reader in order to induce certain emotions. The perspectivetaken from the primary source may
receive more empathy or distaste depending on who the author chooses to represent. Through
detailing certain character, this focus is made clear to be on the victims. However, graphic novels
are sometimes subject to biases and misinterpretations, which can belittle the authenticity of the
accounts being given. Different accounts of the events hold different biases. They could either
represent those who have undergone the specific event or that of someone who has speculated from
the outside. In A.D. New Orleans after the Deluge, Josh Neufeld represents a perspective not
commonly exemplified, as he assigns different perspectives to his character and juxtaposes them
using the dialogue from their interactions. A different view of the story is told, and reasons to the
questionable, or unethical actions of the victims are brought into focus and analyzed through a
perspective that sides with the victims.

Free Speech On The Internet
It is about time we have some filters or establish and enforce legal ramifications on the use of the
internet when hate speech is identified in all 50 states. These legal ramifications should be
extended to people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates.
The internet has radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a
place to express free speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users
in a negative way. This paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users
misuse the idea of free speech on the internet and why we need to filter hate speechand introduce
legal ramifications for these actions.
Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over things they posted
on the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their private time. In America, students are
not supposed to lose their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students
rights to free speech and privacy in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide
both valuable education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to
demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years, educators have
repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and administrators.
An example will be the case of sixth grader in Minnesota who posted on her Facebook

Children Of Dust By Ali Eteraz
Children Of Dust Ali Eteraz is a smart and thoughtful writer. He also has a way of adding a bit of
comedic value in his writings when needed. His book Children of Dust is a memoir of his life in
Pakistan and America. This book also reads more like a story as opposed to a book that just
states facts. This book Children Of Dust is broken down into five parts. Each one of these parts
signify a different name he takes for himself. Meaning, each of these names or parts identify a
certain stage in his life, that he comes to terms with something. Such as Pakistan, Islam, and
America and how he belongs to each.
The first part of this book is called The Promised Abir ul Islam. This means the Perfume of Islam,
and is about Ali as a child in Pakistan, who learns of his destiny and attends a maraca (Eteraz, 1).
Before Ali was born, his father enters a mannat, or a Covenant with God. He said that if God were
to give him a son, then he would promise that the family will become a great leader and a servant
of Islam. After Ali was born, his mother went to Hajj and brought Ali with her. She then rubbed the
baby s chest on the wall of the Ka ba in Mecca. This was a way for him to be blessed by God, or
Allah. He grew up in a small Pakistan village and has fond memories of his family. However, he did
grow up in a strict Muslim household. After a brief but hard madrassa education, this chapter in
his life is over. His father, who is a doctor, gets a work visa to

The Electronic Dance Music Culture
The first time when on the radio I listened to the remixed song Why Don t You?, I was quite of

of the past although it was skilfully woven and shaped into a new, very danceable sound of
electronic music described Irina Cvijanović. (Cvijanovic) Electronic dance music, or better
known as edm , has completely changed the music industry. Edm has now taken over radio and
the mainstream, and has become one of the main aspects of popular culture. (Tankel) The rise
and popularity of edm comes from it s unique and innovative sound that is based heavily on the
idea of musical remixing and the blending of genres. Bedroom producers have taken over the

of the most popular and profitable events in the United States, and they are only getting bigger and

The Ban Of Medical Marijuana
Charlotte Figi, a six year old girl, had an untreatable form of epilepsy and used medical
marijuana to save her life. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by
the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her
parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication
immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one
example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust
because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban
is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug,
people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not
addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical
marijuana can be used. First, the website ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for
sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia, AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For

Talk about the American dream. What some people see as creating a better life through hard work
and determination, F. Scott Fitzgerald keenly discerns as being materialistic gain. He demonstrates
this through his characters and uses their actions to show their selfish desire that eventually leads to
ruin. Fitzgerald ridicules the American dream through the characters in his work The Great Gatsby.
He uses Jay Gatsbyas a modern twist on the classic tragic hero to show us how Gatsby s American
dream is flawed.
Jay Gatsby, being who the story is named after is a very good example of the American dream. He
also represents what most people living in 1920s America were striving for, notably, he has become
so rich that he throws extravagant parties almost every night. Although Gatsby is seen as being
successful, Fitzgerald ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for Gatsby s failure becomes apparent after looking at what he wants. In the story,
Gatsby comes from a poor family where he greatly felt he didn t belong. His parents were
farmers and he had never really accepted them as his [family] (Fitzgerald 98). He eventually
changes his name from James Gatz to Jay Gatsby distancing himself from his poor background
showing his motivation to escape through hard work and determination. Gatsby took every
opportunity he could to make a better life for himself. From when he abruptly followed Dan
Cody out to sea to on his yacht that represented all the beauty and glamour in the world , to when
he enlisted in the army to fight honorably (100). But no where is his pursuit of wealth more
obvious than in his love for Daisy. Daisy, compared to Gatsby, was everything he longed for; she
had the wealth and social status that came along with being born into a rich family. Gatsby loved
Daisy not because of who she was, but because she was the manifestation of his dreams. After he
gets back from the war and she is married to Tom he knows that

Organizational Resilience Essay
Background
Modern day organizations have to constantly change to meet the demands of customers. Workers
have to change with the organizations to be able to perform new functions and complete new
sophisticated tasks.
Not only the type of the work employees are required to do changes, place, method, and
environment of the work is also subject to transformation. With high turnover being common
characteristic among modern organizations, people have to work in teams each time composed of
different people.
Mallak (1998) noticed that employees working in the sales and supplies department are even

Being resilient means being able to act adequately in demanding situations, avoid unwanted
developments during the course of working day, and make the most of opportunities in spite of all
the turmoil associated with the organizational change.
Organizations have to design and implement effective programs of resilience to ensure their own
survival (Mallak, 1998). Resilient organizations are the organizations that maintain their
profitability even when going through major transformation. This is due to the fact that its
employees do not need much time to adapt to new realities or to recover from stress associated
with the change.
Defining Resilience
Resilience translates from Latin as to leap back and can be defined as the ability to recover from
or easily adjust to misfortune or change (Russell Consulting, Inc., 2007).
Lee (2008) writes that resilience refers to a person s capacity to handle difficulties, demands, and
high pressure without becoming stressed.
Lee divides the notion of resilience into four separate facets :
1.The ability to not sweat the small stuff Resilient workers maintain their good cheer despite all the
small frustrations accompanying the employees through their working day (Lee, 2008).
2.Ability to perform under high pressure Resilient workers cannot be overwhelmed by minor
difficulties at work place, neither pressure exercised upon them can

In conclusion, the Walt Disney Company provides families across America and around the world
with quality entertainment for every member in the family. The culture of the Walt Disney
Company includes six main values that makes Disney stand out; 1) innovation, 2) quality, 3)
community, 4) storytelling, 5) optimism, and 6) decency (Culture, n.d.). Along with the culture
making the Disney Company successful, the company s ability to communicate also helps to make
the successful. According to the article Working their Magic: Disney Culture molds happy
employees , Disney strongly believes extensive communication is key to a satisfied workforce
(2003). The way that the company handles communication plays right into the company s culture
because it helps the cast members to put their best efforts forward when it comes to innovation,
quality, community, storytelling, optimism, and decency. Even though the Walt Disney Company
strives to have good communication, there is always a chance for some kind of conflict to arise.
Conflict of interest is one example of a conflict that can arise in the company. The Walt Disney
Company can use these conflicts to improve communication within and among groups by using
them as examples for future references.

Dependency Theory Of Soft Power
After the explanation of soft power information, how does the soft power penetrate the media
content to others country? It is because of dependency theory. Dependency theory is basically a
domination theory/ system which makes the develop country get richer, and developing country get
poorer, and underdevelopment country remain poverty or maybe worse. As capitalism and
globalizationtake place, the ideas of globalization is about free flows of information, and cultural
exchange between nations, and open trade with others country. However, according to dependency
theory, which is about the develop country controls the whole market, while developing and
underdevelopment countries are rely on develop country.
There are four main theoretical clues for dependency theory. The first clue, structure of dependency
theory is center/core and periphery. The center countries are United States, Canada, United

their country pop culture to others country as what discussed in soft power. Media imperialism is
actually a sub from cultural imperialism . The difference between cultural imperialism and media
imperialism was, the cultural imperialism involve many aspects but not only media, it involves
religion, clothing, foods and etc. for media imperialism narrow down the focus which only media
ownership, international media flows, media structures, and the media content. In another words,
core countries serves as a center, to disseminate the media content, news report, entertainment, to

Waterfall Methodology Essay
Choosing a proper method for software design is completely depended upon the requirements and
end products of the company. These requirements and goals might change in the process of
development of software depending upon the decisions of stakeholders, developers and system
analysts.
Waterfall life cycle model and Agile methodology are the methods to implement and develop
software. The initial methodology used by company is Waterfall methodology consists of
sequential steps for the designing of software. One can predict cost, duration and requirements of
the project in this method. This method is primarily used when organization knows what the end
product of the project is. Proper planning is required before the start of the project.
But there are some disadvantages of waterfall methodology. One major disadvantage is that
developers cannot go back to the previous step once they have completed the step. If the project
requirements are not satisfied initially then there might be a chance of project failure. It might also
cost budget issues as well as more duration to complete the project. If developers want to make
certain changes in the code of project in between then they again need to start from the beginning to
write the code.
To overcome these disadvantages of waterfall model, Agile methodology is designed. This
methodology uses incremental approach unlike waterfall model which uses sequential steps to
develop software. Incremental approach means processing and testing

Critical Disability In Titus Andronicus
Some say revenge is a dish best served cold, but in Titus Andronicus this dish is served piping hot
and bloody. One of the literary themes presented is critical disability study. Critical disability is
when somebody stands out from the norm. One study talks about being socially disabled and not
being able to fit in with the rest of the group in the story. Another study talks about the definition of
normality, and how those who don t fit into that category affect the story as a whole. Another story
talks about how being disabled in a certain way acts as a catalyst for a character and fuels their
actions from then on. In Titus Andronicuseach of these forms of critical disabilityare present. Titus
and Lavinia are both crippled in a multitude of ways physically. However, there are other
characters who have a disability that cripples them; Aaron the Moor, Tamora queen of the goths,
and Saturninus the Emperor. They are crippled in different ways through their views and
actions. These crippled characters are a major part of the story. If they were not present or the
things that crippled them were not present then the story would not be viewed in the same light.
Looking at physical disabilities, there is the loss of Lavinia s hands and tongue. Before her
incident she is evidently vibrant and full of life. There is one scene where the emperor, who just
said he was going to marry lavinia, hits on Tamora and even tells Lavinia that Tamora is more
beautiful and she makes a snide

Human Cloning Should Not be Permitted Essay
According to Richard Seed, cloning is inevitable. If I don t do it, someone else will. There s no
way you can stop science (qtd. in Kadrey 2001). Depending on one s personal opinion about
cloning, human cloning in particular, a quote such as that will most likely either anger a reader or
excite them. Human cloning is one of the hottest topics for debate in society todaythe lines are very
strictly drawn between those in favor of continuing cloning research and those who are staunchly
opposed to it. Meanwhile, despite public opinion, science trudges on behind closed doors working
to clone the first human. This paper will first provide a thorough, but brief, introduction into the
topic of cloning itself, including its history... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, her creation sparked many efforts to end cloning research for fear of future possibilities
involving human cloning. Later that same year, cows were cloned in the same manner, and if
scientists had not already been considering investigating the cloning of humans, they were then
(Humber and Almeder 1998). Animal research has become routine. Mice, sheep, cows, goats,
pigs, even a rare Asian gaur a massive wild ox have been cloned. Dogs and cats are expected to
appear soon. Primate researcher [Don] Wolf expects to successfully impregnate monkeys with
clones sometime this spring. You can now order up you own cloned cow on the Net (Alexander
2001).
Recently, the lid on the topic of human cloning has come off in abrupt fashion. Scientists around
the world claim that they now have the technology and participants to clone humans. Of notable
interest is an Italian group headed by Severino Antinori and Panos Zavos who have created quite
a stir by saying that they are ...ready to start work on the first human clone within weeks (Italy
doctor 2001). Antinori, an Italian doctor, and Zavos, a fertility doctor in the United States, claim
that they have 700 couples that have volunteered to be a part of this project (Italy doctor 2001). In
1998, Korean researchers claimed to have cloned what would be the first cloned human. An egg

Never Let Me Go Visual Art
Kazuo Ishiguru s Never Let Me Go a novel narrated by a young woman, Kathy, who tells stories
about herself and her two close friends, Ruth and Tommy, as they grow up. The trio face many
typical trials and tribulations that are typically associated with coming of age. However, these
children are anything but typical. Set in a dystopian world in England in the seventies and
eighties, Kathy, Ruth and Tommy are all clones, whose purpose in life is to donate their organs for
the sake of medicine. They all attend a special boarding school, Hailsham, that is run by regular

Miss Emily and Madame, two guardians at Hailsham, have founded the school and this gallery in
order to prove that the clones indeed are humans, have souls, and that creating them for the sole

Hailsham students have souls, because visual art is just one specific method of self expression.
Miss Emily and Madame might choose this particular method of proof because visual art is usually
considered proof of creativity, a fundamentally human quality. Human have made art for thousands

across the world, connecting it with the human experience. Art is not the best way of proving that

The Progressive Era During The 1920 S
The progressive era during the 1890 s and 1920 s in the Unites States saw an economic expansion
with the aid of the industrial capitalists, a growing population with immigrants coming to the
United States seeking a better life through labor with American industrialization, and government
corruption being eliminated progressively by political reforms like the Sherman Antitrust Act. This
era also had complications such as racial tension between immigrants, poor working and living
conditions amongst the American public, society division based on different characteristics such
as ethnicity and average working revenue. As the works of Howard Zinn, Thomas C. Leonard, and
David Montgomery specify the endeavor America as a society underwent during the Progressive
Era. Through the economic expansion during the Progressive Era companies wanted to keep costs
down while maintaining profits high with low wages, poor working conditions, and long hours at
the expense of immigrants. The underrepresented individuals faced with these problematic issues
consisted of blacks, whites, Chinese, Europeans, and female labors. Wages in America during the
Progressive Era had been based on race, sex, and social class. Mary Stovall author of the article The
Chicago Defender further expands on the issue of class favoritism by elaborating in his work how
blacks were charged higher rents than whites for comparable housing . These problematic matters
often caused a heated argument and in some instances

Static Stretching Benefits
Almost every athlete from amateur to professional stretches before exercise, and coaches and
trainers have recommended static stretching as an essential part of a warm up routine for years. But
why do we stretch? What do we gain from this routine? Stretching increases flexibility, but many
people stretch specifically before exercise to gain additional benefits, mainly enhanced athletic
performance, reduced muscle soreness, and injury prevention. However, research suggests that
stretchingdoes not provide these additional benefits in any significant amount. There is very little
evidence that supports the claims people make about the benefits of stretching before exercise, but
there is no evidence that it is harmful. It is simply overrated because it does not provide the benefits
people think it does. Static stretching before exercise is unnecessary because it does not improve
athletic performance, prevent muscle soreness or reduce the risk of injury. Although stretching
improves flexibility, it does not improve most athletic performances. Activities such as gymnastics
require extreme flexibility, but most sports and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main goals of a warm up are to increase blood flow and prepare the body for specific
movements, but static stretching does not accomplish either of these goals. It does not elevate the
heart rate significantly and it does not prepare the body for most movements. Instead of
emphasizing static stretches, a warm up should emphasize dynamic stretches. Dynamic stretches
increase blood flow and move the muscles through their normal range of motion, preparing them for
more intense exercises. A warm up should also include movements that use similar body parts that
will be used in the later, more strenuous movements (Isner). Dynamic stretches should constitute
most of the warm up because they prepare the body for exercise better than static

Apothecary In The Colonial Era
Trades There were many interesting trades presented on this website. One of these trades that
interested me the most was apothecary. Apothecary in the colonial era was a druggist who had a
similar roles to what a doctor does today. They didn t just provide medical treatment, or prescribe
drugs but also performed surgeries as well. Reading more about this trade, I discovered that some
apothecaries even trained to become man midwives. Before reading this article, I had the
assumption that the majority of mid wives were female, and that most men didn t handle child
birth in that time era. Furthermore, some of the ingredients used in colonial remedies, that is still
found in modern medicine. Some include, but are limited to; chalk for heartburn (Tums), calamine
for skin irritations (Aveeno lotions) and many more. Like many drug stores today, apothecaries
also sold household items and not just drugs. The next most interesting trade in the colonial period
was Gunsmiths. It is very neat to me how the gunsmiths didn t only work with metals but also with
wood. In fact, the stock of a gun was made with one piece of wood and later engraved. Even the
metal used in the guns were intricately engraved as well. The gunsmith wasn t just limited to
making firearms... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Woodstock 1969 Case Study As the intended event planner for Woodstock 2010, it is my responsibility to examine previous Woodstock events (1969, 1994, and 1999) to assist in my preparation for this event. Furthermore, by studying the past triumphs and failures, I can recreate the elements that worked and improve upon the elements that were failures. Indeed, close attention will be paid to identifying the most critical areas of concern, identifying three additional areas needing attention, and determining the previous event s goals and objectives. In my opinion, the most critical area of concern would be the damage to the Woodstock brand, since poor management has led to violence and exploitation of festivalgoers, hosting communities, and sponsors (Crowd Management Strategies, 2015). Another major area of concern is the location that in 1999 was on Griffiss Air Force Base s concrete and tarmac surfaces versus 1969s dairy farm location, which led the 1999 crowd to experience widespread heat exhaustion issues (19 Worst Things About Woodstock 99,... Third, the refreshments were also a serious problem at Woodstock 99 where they offered bottled water and food at extremely inflated prices, which led along with the high temperatures, it is speculated, to the vandalism of vendor booths on the final day of the festival (19 Worst Things..., ... When growing up children are usually really active in playing sports or just playing with toys outside; however, Nash s parents noticed that he had a great interest in education at a very young age. On which they started enthusiastically encouraging Nash s education by buying his science books, coloring books, and being self taught by his mother while his father would work. In high school Nash s parents, pursued opportunities to supplement his education by making him take advanced mathematics courses at a local community college called Carnegie Institute of Technology. Nash was later given a full scholarship for his outstanding performances in mathematics, the George Westinghouse Scholarship, which led him to major in chemical engineering. • 4. The Death of Emmett Till There are several views of the murder of Emmett Till regarding the topic of whether or not he received justice. Emmett Till, a fourteen year old boy, was murdered purely based on racism, because he was killed for wolf whistling at a white woman in August 1955. He was brutally murdered after being nearly beaten to death and having his eyes gouged out. When Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam, two people involved in Till s manslaughter, were placed on trial for his murder, they were pronounced innocent and did not receive any punishment. After being tortured and savagely killed, no one was held responsible for Emmett Till s death. Emmett Till did not receive justice after his death. Emmett Till did not receive justice, because from his death and throughout his trial, everything was based upon racism. Till s case was examined in court by an all white jury, who had most likely made up their minds before the trial had even started. According to The death of Emmett Till , On September 23, the all white jury deliberated for less than an hour before issuing a verdict of not guilty, ... ( Death 2) That is an extremely short time for a jury to deliberate, and it leads to questions of whether or not the jury truly deliberated, or if it was a cold case of a black boy being punished for flirting with a white woman. The solo is followed by a main riff from Joe Perry, repeated for a short time, and then is played throughout the song in after about two or three stanzas. In the song a well heard beat by Joey Kramer on drums is played which makes me want to tap my foot to the song. The chorus which consists of the song title Walk This Way is well known by many and is one of the best parts of the song. There is a great melody in the song and a guitar solo in the middle of the song played by Joe Perry that makes me, and most people familiar with the song, want to either learn how to play or air guitar to. This song also has a medium tempo that makes people want to nod their heads to or dance. I Some of the lyrics that stood out to me was, I took a big chance at the high school dance... However, the issues that come together with them still seem to plaque the community even after more than five decades. In retrospect, these issues are more protuberant in the implementation level than at the policy making stage. The way Chua Beng Huat asserted in his paper titled Multiculturalismin Singapore: an instrument of social control, it seems as though multiculturalism and multiracialism are double edged swords which can cut both ways. • 7. Comparing Tale Of Genji And Ariwara No Narihira The kishu ryЕ«ritan , or the exile of the young noble , is a recurring motif in Classical Japanese literature where a young god or aristocrat undergoes a severe trial in a distant and hostile land as punishment for a previous transgression (Haruo, 1987). With both the protagonists of the Tale of Genji (Hikaru Genji) and the Tales of Ise (the anonymous man ) embarking on self imposed exiles, this essay will examine the similarities and differences between the experiences of the two characters, as well as the Heian socio political context that this literary trope reveals. According to Ivy (1995), the theme of the wandering stranger god is one of the most important literary...motifs in Japan . In the Tale of Genji, Genji becomes amorously involved with one of Kokiden s younger sisters, Oborozukiyo, who has been promised to the future Emperor Suzaku (Bowring, 2004). Similarly, Narihira is described in Episode 6 of the Tales of Ise to have for years courted a most inaccessible lady , who is identified in the same episode as the future Empress from the Second Ward (Tales of Ise, 72 73). • 8. Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every negotiation involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem solving. In the book Getting to Yes, the authors have not only identified the key issues in the traditional negotiation process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually acceptable agreements. The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize that the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over their opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of the participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have clearly highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be efficient and should not damage the existing relationship. A positional... This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may sometimes lead to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. • 9. The Causes Of Fast Food The history of fast food is not long, but fast food has become a constant element of our lives. Most people in the world recognize the logos of places like McDonald s or Burger King. A large percent of the population at least once in their lives has eaten in a fast food bar; however, some of them do it regularly and they cannot imagine that such bars could cease to exist. Over the years, fast foods gained their supporters, but also opponents who only see evil in such places. I think the reluctance to fast foodtriggers two important reasons. First, fast foods contribute to obesity and increase its rates. The food served in fast food restaurant catches our attention with good smell and taste. Unfortunately, the food offered at such places contains a lot of fat, calories and very often chemical components that adversely affect our bodies. Frequent consumption of hamburgers, French fries, hot dogs, etc. causes bad eating habits in children and leads to slow weight gain, which over time becomes a serious problem. Fast foods contain big amounts of salt and sugar that contribute to obesity, which leads to other diseases such as diabetes, high pressure or circulation s problem. Most of them change our lives and make them more complicated and less satisfying because we need bigger control of our food, diet and we need to take medications. • 13. The Greatest Heroes Of Stephen Hawking Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change (BrainyQuote) This is a quote from the famous Stephen Hawking, which shows that intelligence is not measured by how much you know, but rather by what you do with what you know. Stephen Hawking has continually showed the many characteristics of a hero through his life, even while fighting with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Stephen Hawkinggrew up in England and was diagnosed with ALS at a very young age. However, he did not let this stop him from shaking the foundations of science forever. Stephen Hawking is considered one of the greatest heroes in science due to his perseverance and courage in relation to his medical handicap and the lack of information on his field. A hero is someone who makes the choice to do what others lack the strength to do, who has courage like no others, who puts others needs before theirs, and someone who does this without the thought of external gain. A true hero is someone who shows a concern for other people in need... knowing there is a personal risk (Zimbardo). The core qualities at the center of any hero are persistence, courage, and selflessness. Courage is defined as the mindset that enables a person to face danger without fear, while selflessness is prescribed as the ability to put other s needs before yours. A cardiac monitor is essential in continuous monitoring of the patient, but a 12 lead EKG has the benefit of being able to better pinpoint the specific areas of the heart that are affected or damaged. Blood sugar can be obtained from a drop of blood with a glucometer such as One Touch, or it may be obtained along with the serum chemistry and electrolyte analyses from the lab. A glucometer is a quick and easy way of determining the blood glucose level. Mrs. Baker is a diabetic, and is on an antidiabetic drug, Metformin. Her change in mental status could be due to low blood sugar. This would be easily diagnosed with a glucometer, and easily treated with IV glucose, so it should be one of the first assessments made. A glucometer has the benefit of being a quicker and easier way to obtain a blood sugar level, while a serum glucose may be more accurate at extremely high or low levels. Pulse oximetry can be done with a dedicated pulse oximeter, or it may also be built in to the capabilities of the cardiac monitor. In Joan Didion s essay, On Morality, she uses examples to show how morality is used to justify actions and decisions by people. She explains that morality can have a profound effect on the decisions that people chose to make. I think that moralityis an idea that is different for every individual based on morals and background. In Joan Didion s piece, On Morality, she objectivity thinks that every individual has a different conception of morality. She believes that each individual has their own meaning of morality and that people use their own personal meanings to justify right versus wrong in life. I agree with Joan Didion that people determine what is considered to be moral in their own opinions. Overall, I believe that morality exists and that it is defined differently by each individual. I believe that humans collectively require morality in order to prevent chaos and that everyone defines what is right by their own personal opinion. Overall, as a society, I believe that morality is needed to draw a thin line between the right and wrong whether they are based on law or morals. In order to illustrate her point, Didion uses Klaus Fuchs and Alfred Rosenberg as examples. Fuchs was a British traitor who leaked nuclear secrets to the Soviets while Rosenberg was a Nazi administrator who was apart of the heinous and murderous acts during World War II. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. The Sega company realized that Sonic appealed to a wide audience, so naturally, future games are going to feature similar characteristics of the original Sonic game. Analysis Of New Orleans After The Deluge The Juxtaposition Graphic novels have the ability to portray multiple perspectives and can cleverly represent as many groups an author believes is needed. What becomes the decision of the author is which perspective deems more important or more fascinating. Depending on which the author decides to portray, there tends to be different effects on the readers. Neufeld uses Scott s Mccloud s ideas from Understanding Comics, such as adding detail to a character to differentiate them from the reader in order to induce certain emotions. The perspectivetaken from the primary source may receive more empathy or distaste depending on who the author chooses to represent. Through detailing certain character, this focus is made clear to be on the victims. However, graphic novels are sometimes subject to biases and misinterpretations, which can belittle the authenticity of the accounts being given. Different accounts of the events hold different biases. They could either represent those who have undergone the specific event or that of someone who has speculated from the outside. In A.D. New Orleans after the Deluge, Josh Neufeld represents a perspective not commonly exemplified, as he assigns different perspectives to his character and juxtaposes them using the dialogue from their interactions. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. First, the website ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia, AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). These requirements and goals might change in the process of development of software depending upon the decisions of stakeholders, developers and system analysts. Waterfall life cycle model and Agile methodology are the methods to implement and develop software. The initial methodology used by company is Waterfall methodology consists of sequential steps for the designing of software. One can predict cost, duration and requirements of the project in this method. This method is primarily used when organization knows what the end product of the project is. Proper planning is required before the start of the project. But there are some disadvantages of waterfall methodology. One major disadvantage is that developers cannot go back to the previous step once they have completed the step. If the project requirements are not satisfied initially then there might be a chance of project failure. It might also cost budget issues as well as more duration to complete the project. If developers want to make certain changes in the code of project in between then they again need to start from the beginning to write the code. To overcome these disadvantages of waterfall model, Agile methodology is designed. This methodology uses incremental approach unlike waterfall model which uses sequential steps to develop software. One of the literary themes presented is critical disability study. Critical disability is when somebody stands out from the norm. One study talks about being socially disabled and not being able to fit in with the rest of the group in the story. Another study talks about the definition of normality, and how those who don t fit into that category affect the story as a whole. However, there are other characters who have a disability that cripples them; Aaron the Moor, Tamora queen of the goths, and Saturninus the Emperor. They are crippled in different ways through their views and actions. These crippled characters are a major part of the story. If they were not present or the things that crippled them were not present then the story would not be viewed in the same light. Looking at physical disabilities, there is the loss of Lavinia s hands and tongue. Before her incident she is evidently vibrant and full of life.
