2. Grande Sonate Pathétique
The key of C minor, Beethoven s Sturm und Drang (German for Storm and Stress ) key which many
of his most intensive and powerful pieces were written in (5th Symphony, Piano Concerto No.3, for
instance). Pathétique one of his three piano sonatas written in the key of C minor, was composed
during Beethoven s early period, when he was 27 years old, and published in 1799. It is perhaps
Beethoven s earliest composition that has achieved widespread and enduring popularity. Dedicated to
Prince Carl von Lichnowsky who was described by Beethoven as one of my truest friends and patrons
and also his most dependable supporter in Vienna. The original name Grande Sonate Pathétique was
given by the publisher with Beethoven s approval. The title as

3. Children at Play
Children At Play: Actual vs. Dramatic One of the signs of early childhood development is the ability
to engage in play. Young children (ages 4 6) prefer non structured environments that gives them the
freedom to un limit their play in different settings. Working with preschoolers for over five years, I am
fascinated to learn all the different ways children play to learn. I understand every child has their
unique talents and skills that makes them individuals. It is important to sketch out different play
strategies for children and their desired interests. The goal is to answer the question: what way do
children learn the best; actual or dramatic. As a teacher and a researcher I define play as actual play
and dramatic play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This play is about three billy goats who travel past a bridge. Under that bridge lives two monsters who
want to eat the goats. The point of the play is to get the five participants in character. For example
participant A who played the part of one of the monsters had to shout and yell to act as a monster,
participant B who played the part of one of the goats had to shout and yell to defend her self from the
monster. I realized this type of activity is a great tool for children to let aggression and tension exit
their mind and bodies. As Shallat puts it, The moral or message that the author hopes to be derived
from this dramatic piece is that the suppression of discomforting feelings leads to additional,
undesirable feelings and/or consequences. (Shallat, 2003) It is important for children that are at a high
risk for disturbed behavior to engage in dramatic play to let out negative energy. Suppressing one s
feelings from an early age is a sign of heightened mental burden for later years. Shallat also analyzes
that, [...] actors and clinicians/play directors are encouraged to create their own masks and costumes,
providing additional room for creative expression (Shallat, 2003) As a teacher I find this to be quite
intriguing. I realize it is important for children to engage in dramatic play especially if it highlights
creativity

4. Wayne Williams Thesis Statement
Wayne Williams was born on May 27th, 1958 to Homer and Faye Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. He
graduated from Douglass High School and furthered his education at Georgia State University, but
later dropped out to explore a new talent. Williams took a specific interest in music, pursuing a career
in radio and managing a band. Williams educational background and career both were pivotal to his
defense. In 1979, children and teens seemed to simple vanish. Each child met certain criteria: young,
black, and from Atlanta. The first two victims, Edward Smith and Alfred Evans, who were both 14
years old, disappeared four days apart in June. Both of their bodies were found close together in a
remote, wooded area of South Atlanta one month later. Nine year old Yusuf Bell went missing on
October 21st, 1979 and his body was recovered November 8th of the same year. Police did not
connect the dots with Bell s murder because he was fully clothed, found in a remote area, but was
strangled to death, unlike Smith and Evans, who were shot with a .22 caliber. Williams next alleged
victim, 12 year old Angel Lenair, was also strangled. She was found in an abandoned lot, fully
clothed, with child underwear stuffed in her mouth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The racial tension and confession of KKK members surrounding the murder are also very suspicious.
Were the confessions thoroughly investigated? Witnesses of many of the child murders also note two
black men, not one. It is very hard to believe that only one person acted alone to plan, kidnap, and
murder all 30 victims of a two year span. If Williams was guilty, should it have been more evidence
and convicted of more than just two murders? I am unsure if Wayne Williams committed these crimes,
due to the lack of evidence, the ease of the trial, and biological

5. Why The United States Won The War Of 1812 Dbq
On July 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain which started the War of 1812. The
war began because of a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain. The war lasted
from 1812 to 1814. The War started when the colony of Great Britain and Canada, got invaded by the
Americans. The war was fought in many different places such as, Upper Canada, Lower Canada, on
the Great Lakes, the Atlantic, and in the U.S. The war was a big dispute between the U.S. and the
British Empire. The British limited the American trade system because they were afraid it would be
damaging to their war with France. They also wanted to have an Indian state in parts of the Midwest.

Since the issues of rights were not determined in the peace treaty, the war was considered a failure.
However, the Americans had some impressive victories at sea, which gave them the potential of
becoming an American power (i.e., footnote 1). The war was definitely a failure for the War Hawks,
who desired to invade Canada. The war proved that this was not doable for their military to do. In
conclusion, the war was a war of honor and respect and not to be judged (i.e., footnote 1).
The War of 1812 had a big effect on America and how the world viewed the developing nation.
America was now viewed as a nation that was strong and capable to endure two wars with the British
(i.e., footnote 2). America as a nation had also changed. There was an extended faith in America and
their abilities. Without a doubt, the War of 1812 played a huge role in the development of America

Speaking Up for the Ones Who Cannot
Animal breeding is a commonly used process all over the world, used to bring new puppies into the
world for young children and families, or farm animals for more farming production. However what
most do not know is that those animals are not always from a nice pet store or a facility that treats
their animals well. Breeding animals like dogs or farming animals in places that are illegal often times
leads to forms of abuse for them. Puppy mills often times sell dogs that went through painful
treatment and are typically sick in some way. Health Beauty Close Up interviewed some animal
organizations who says a puppy mill is, a dog breeding operation, which offers dogs for monetary
compensation or remuneration, in which the physical, psychological and/or behavioral needs of the
dogs are not being fulfilled due to inadequate housing, shelter, staffing, nutrition, socialization,
sanitation, exercise, veterinary care, and/or inappropriate breeding ( Pet Industry and Animal Welfare
Organizations Team to Address Puppy Mill Abuse ). Some farming industries end up treating their
animals bad their entire lives or not even giving them the chance at life. Breeding farm animals or
dogs in mills should be banned because of terrible living conditions, breeding being used for their
profits, and giving animals illness or causing death.

9. Analysis Of Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Dream deferred The poem I will discuss today is Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes it is located on
page 620 of the textbook. The theme of this poem is postponing your dreams can lead to destruction in
your life. The tone of this poem is uncertainty. The author is very uncertain of what happens to a
dream deferred. The two elements of figurative language the author used in this poem to convey the
theme are simile and metaphor. The first element of figurative language I will discuss is simile. A
simile is when you compare two unlike things using like or as. This is shown multiply times
throughout the poem for example it says, Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun. The author is
comparing a dream deferred to a dried up raisin a raisin is already dry but if left out in the sun it
becomes hard to eat which mean it loses it nutritional purpose. ... Show more content on

12. The Impact Of Genes On A Person
The impact of genes on a person is a well known assumption among people who study genetics. When
you think about it, who we are and how we act is based off of our genetic makeup. Behavioral
genetics studies the inheritance of behavioral traits. There are some people who are just nice and
easygoing people while others behave in an unmoral way or are considered anti social. Behavior
genetics is that branch that is trying to figure out what factors play a part in how people act and what
genes lead to diverse array of behavior. Not only could genetic information be inherited by a person s
parent but how much of their behavior is also determined by the environment, such as their living
conditions, the people they surround themselves with, and other influences that may surround them.
Behavior genetics environmental factors can be separated into two categories, shared and nonshared.
Shared environment can be considered the environment that is shared by members in the same family,
which can include the same parents or socioeconomic class. Nonshared environment is the one that is
exclusive to an individual and incorporates their own peer group or hobbies not shared with family
members. When you read a lot about behavioral genetics there is a lot of talk about Nature vs.
Nurture, with genetics being the nature and the environment being nurture. Since I feel that a person s
behavior can be affected by both I can understand why this theory goes along with this topic. In order

I posit that God if [He] does exist is ageless, timeless, omniscient, and omnipresent insofar as He
exists in a dimension outside time and three dimensional space. Because of that, and given the limits
of epistemic accessibility, it seems rather impossible to say with certainty what about God is
objectively true. In fact, to say anything more than that outside of what is possibly or probably the
case concerning God, is akin to poetry, a series of metaphors characterizing a hyper dimensional
being. In fact, it seems odd to attach a gender to the Divine, much less an anthropomorphic form with
such certainty. From hereafter, I propose that we refer to God as either an It or, if one felt so inclined,

the help of an established epistemic tool in Stephen Wykstra s Condition of Reasonable Epistemic
Access (CORNEA), a principle that intends to serve as an answer to both Rowe and Swinburne, albeit
mostly the latter. Finally, I will briefly explicate a multiverse solution to the problem of evil whereby I
will attempt to show how a multiverse could on appearances satisfy the conditions set by both the
theist and the atheist in a manner that is conceivable by both able to be understood by the intellect as
well as the senses so as to serve as an anti metaphor. In fact, I aim to show that my prima facie

from birth. Originally, in psychoanalytic theory, Freud believed that the ego was derived from the need
to reconcile drives within the constraints of social living (Hutchison, 2015, p. 132). Now, ego
psychologists view the ego as being present from the time of birth. In comparison to cognitive theory,
ego psychologists believe that there are developmental stages in which the ego goes through. While it
is true that the ego does not need to be learned in order to be in existence, it does have to develop and
adjust to new life situations just as one s cognition goes through developmental stages and must adapt

In assessing the client through cognitive theory, K appears to be unable to find equilibrium between
her schema of knowing abuse is wrong and not the victim s fault, and her learned experience of being
abused and having these opinion and thoughts towards herself. In hypothetical situations, she knows
and understands that abuse victims are not to blame for their abuse, but she is unable to assimilate that
information into her lived experience of abuse. The social worker would likely assess K as having
cognitive distortions about personal abuse. In the planning process, the social worker must work to
understand why K has the particular assumptions that she is to blame for the abuse. Planning what
interventions and measures to take with K means listening attentively to the ways in which K
understands and verbalizes her understanding of her abuse and the situation. The social worker must
also work with K to outline possible goals that she wishes to get out of the treatment. In intervention,
the social worker helps the client adjust his or her cognitive process to better facilitate the attainment
of goals (Hutchison, 2015, p. 126). Because the social worker identified a cognitive distortion in the
way K views her personal abuse in relation to hypothetical abuse, intervention should be structured in

about his love for her. Another example would be his mother remarrying, and Hamlet not being able to
confess his true feelings about King Claudius being his new father. In the first four acts, Hamlet goes

procrastinating at the matter, because he comes up behind King Claudius while he s praying. He
originally planned on killing him right then and there, but wait! Hamlet stops and lets his inner coward
win over yet again. After a series of deep thoughts, he does decide to kill his uncle, and realizes that he
must go through with his plan quickly, before Hamlet himself is killed.
Thus conscience does not make cowards of us all;/ And thus the native hue of resolution/ Is sicklied o

death and life, the connection between thought and action. In act five scene five, he goes into Claudius
room to kill him. Like the last time he went to kill him, he was on his knees praying. Why send him to

strength. They are described as being brave, disciplined, polite, and non violent. A Canadian Mountie
has respect for authority and not only abides by law and order, but enforces it. They are a true test of

of Fremen there along with giant sandworms reaching a length of four hundred and fifty meters. The
Fremen harvested spice, lived in the cities and in underground cities. Their eyes were bright blue on

very interesting and told me much about each characters background and personality. I knew there

that Paul was the prophet who was destined to stop all violence, hunger, spice mining, armies and
fighting. He was to bring a new era along with his leadership. This frightened the Emperor that forced
him to act against the

from 1680 1800. Taylor begins by explaining how warfare both sustained and weakened New Mexico.
It maintained unity, because without an external enemy to focus on, the Pueblo people would rise up
in revolt against Mexico. However, the constant warfare discouraged any new settlers from putting
down roots there. Spain s holdings in North America were weakened by the foreign policy of the
motherland, which focused on the colonial core of the territory, not the exterior regions. For Mexico,

Taylor describes how most of their well being was based around horticulture, a couple of annual trips
dedicated to hunting buffalo. Subsequently, the author spoke to the religion of the tribes in the Great
Plains which, like most Native religions, was based on a dualism between life and death. A few tribes
were not villages, instead living a nomadic lifestyle and following the herds of buffalo wherever they
roamed. The nomads became collectively known as the Apache. Almost everything they ate, wore, and
owned was provided by the buffalo. In the next section of the chapter, Taylor discusses the Genizaros.
Essentially, this was the term used for Native American slaves who served in the households of
governors and other officials. These slaves were taken from the nomadic Apache, but not without cost.
In retaliation, the Apache would attack colonial settlements and kidnap or kill anyone living there.
Oftentimes, the Pueblo people and the lower class colonists were the ones who suffered most, not the
officials who actually held the Genizaros. Another important section of this chapter was simply called
Texas . The author provides the context of the Great Plains in 1720 including the French Spanish
rivalry and the corresponding rivalry between the Pawnee and Wichita Indians and the Apache and
Pueblo Indians. The Spanish colonies were populated mostly with unarmed missionaries, while the

Furthermore, their size and capital allows them to provide those services at cheaper rates than their
smaller counterparts. The large banks can achieve much greater levels of economies of scale. Studies
by Boyd and Heitz have shown that larger banks, (defined as having assets of over $50 billion), have
higher scale economies than their smaller counterparts . The mean measure of scale economies in the
banking industry is 1.145, whilst the larger banks had a mean of 1.25, implying that they were
therefore 9.2% more efficient than the rest of the industry. They hereby estimated that the larger banks
economies of scale increased their contribution to national output by 9.2%. These proponents argue
that the social benefits derived from these economies of scale are beneficial enough to prevent the
stricter reforms and changes being discussed by governments around the world from being
implemented. One of the main arguments against banks becoming too big to fail is that a moral hazard
problem occurs. Moral hazard is a basic economic concept, whereby one party entering a transaction
will take more risky actions if they know they have insurance against the outcomes of those actions.
At present, too big to fail banks have a variety of systems emplaced by the government, which protect
them in the event that they run into financial difficulty. For example, in the U.S. the banks creditors

There are many different ways that humans interact together. The way most of America interacts is
over Social Media. There are many problems involved with this. Relationships with people all around
the world are weakening. Social Media today means that people can find acquaintances to be their

He encourages readers to visit this location, with its hidden Liberty bell (that was enclosed in a bell
tower when the Buxton church was sold) and it history and to open a discussion about these events. If
I ever get the chance, I believe I will visit Buxton and see history come to life!As a first generation
freeborn black, 11 year old Elijah Buxton had no direct experience with slavery. That changes,
however, when a thief steals money set aside for freeing a friend s enslaved family. Elijah sets off
rapidly in pursuit, leaving behind his Canadian home and crossing into dangerous American territory,
where he encounters terrifying evidence of the grievous human cost of slavery. History is made
palpable in this novel by Newbery Medal winner Christopher Paul Curtis.Floating up like a bubble
through layers of history, buoyed with hope and comic energy...Elijah of Buxton tells the story of
Elijah Freeman, the first freeborn child in the historic Elgin Settlement, a village of escaped slaves in
Canada...As in his previous novels, Curtis is a master at balancing the serious and the lighthearted: as
Langston Hughes said of the blues, not softened with tears, but hardened with laughter. He has already
received a Newbery medal and an honor for two novels rooted in the experience of black Americans:
The Watsons Go to Birmingham 1963 and Bud, Not Buddy. His latest book is another natural award
candidate and makes an excellent case, in a

24. Michael Jordan Identity Crisis Essay
I never thought I would have something in common with Michael Jordan that is until I was cut from
the high school basketball team. It may not seem significant to most people but to someone who lived,
breathed, and loved the sport for eight years, it was detrimental. Identity crisis does not even begin to
describe what I faced after this defeat. Friends, teachers, and classmates alike frequently inquired how
the team was doing, expecting me to be a part of it. As the days passed, self confidence plummeted
and embarrassment was recurrent. I found myself pondering Why did something like this have to
happen to me? Everyone hits a major turning point at some time or another and this just happened to
be mine. I put all my passion and focus into

25. The American Liberty And Freedom
As time goes on our ways of life begin to change however, the ideas and past events still remain.
Throughout history we have seen how American liberty and freedom is always centered on the
dominant white male image. As time continues on those of minority decent have had work twice as
hard to receive the same level of equality as all whites both male and female. Women and African
Americans have struggled much more because back then white men believed that they couldn t be
trusted and that they were not worthy of holding power. The inequality of American liberties and
freedom has been displayed recently when a white male cop attacked a young African American
student. She wasn t able to express her freedom because she had to adhere to the cop that was
dominant towards her. Women had to work so hard to acquire their freedom and this was displayed
through the Seneca Falls Convention. Elizabeth Cady Stanton wanted her voice to be heard and she
spoke about how women deserved to be as free as men. She stated how government created
disgraceful laws as give man the power to chastise and imprison his wife, to take the wages which she
earns, the property in which she inherits... This clearly shows how back in the past women weren t
equal to men and they really didn t have any liberties or really any freedom. The men were of power
and basically anything they said was what was right. Going back to the case of the young African girl,
her voice wasn t being heard. All throughout the

26. Volcanic Rocks And Plutonic Rocks
Formed by the solidification of magma. Has different environments for its formation, the cooling rates
that are involved help create the texture which makes and defines the two major groupings in igneous
rocks, the major groupings include Volcanic rocks and Plutonic rocks. The Volcanic rocks start to form
when magma reaches the surface and erupts. When the magma has erupted the cooling rate is rapid.
Volcanos are the visible producers of igneous rocks. OVer 90% of all active rocks are usually near the
boundaries of the tectonic plates. Tectonic plates were created at mid ocean ridges and some rift
valleys, tectonic plates then were destroyed and sunken deep into the ocean trenches. When a new
plate material forms, it is created in ocean ridges where the molten rocks rises from the interior it the
hardens. This new plate then gets topped by the oceanic crust, therefore the surface of the crust then
becomes the sea floor. The ridges become the extension of the tectonic boundaries. When the
solidifying of the material splits along the ridges, each of the parts then extend away from each other
and they form gaps. When the gaps do form, they are filled with the igneous rocks, These new plates
will then become the colder more dense part of the thermal convection currents. Igneous rocks have
been produced at extension boundaries for over 65 million years and that is at a yearly average of 21
km.

29. Irony In The House Of Mirth
The title House of Mirth is ironic in itself because even though the book is named as being a fun
house, the actual contents prove otherwise. Similar to the physical book itself, the characters inside
put on an appearance for everyone else to see while the actual contents are contrasting. They put on
the act of a happy marriage but are dispassionate and have affairs. They pretend to be friends, even
though they are using each other for their personal gain. They displayed that they were contented with
their lives, yet they are miserable. In this way, Edith Wharton uses irony in the House of Mirth as a
way to condemn the elitist socialite world and show that money doesn t buy happiness. In the elite
society, money is what makes the world go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a marriage has either no love or unrequited love between it, one or both parties will become
romantically involved with another person outside of the marriage. Within society this is seen as a
perfectly acceptable thing to do so long as it is never brought up to the publics attention, for once the
affair is brought to the publics attention the act has then been revealed. The Dorsets are a perfect
example of a marriage with a one sided love in it. The husband Mr. Dorset cared for his wife. Mrs.
Dorset cared for her husband s bank account. Due to not having any romantic feelings toward her
husband of any kind, Mrs. Dorset held a couple of affairs with other men such as Selden and later Ned
Silverston. This led Mr. Dorset to be miserable, bitter, and jealous because of his wife s attentions
were given to other men. Mr. Dorset is so miserable due to his wife that the doctors tell [him] that s
has knocked [his] digestion out being so infernally jealous of her (Wharton 45). Even though Mrs.
Dorset doesn t care for her husband, she doesn t dare lose her hold of him on account of the money,
and so when HE isn t jealous she pretends to be (Wharton 35). The only reason Mrs. Dorset is dead set
on keeping her claws sunk into her husband is for his financial aspect. This relationship between the
Dorsets is a typical marriage among the elite

31. The Stress and Reward of Returning to School Essay
When I decided to return to school after a fourteen year break, a lot of stressors became apparent in
my life. The first known stressor that affected the added task of returning to school was work. Being
that I tend to be very busy at the work place and sometime bring work home with me, it took a toll on
me rather fast. The second stressor was trying to take care of the household. Trying to find time in
between cooking, cleaning, washing, and school assignments had me running around like a chicken
without a head . The third was being a single parent and adding another task into my already busy life.
My children also had to be tended to with their homework, sports, and all the things kids love to do.
For all of these stressors, I found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a tough daily job of having to be able to sit at my desk or even in bed to hammer out some
school work but I was determined and toughed it out. There were a lot of limitations to what I can do
physically, so I made it a point to limit my time of sitting, typing, or thinking of school for that matter.
My surgeries and limitations became the least of my trouble for timing what or how much I can do.
What took me away for awhile, was the medications I had to take in order to deal with the pain. Most
of the medications would either make me sick where I could not function or send me straight to sleep
for hours. This had me in a bind being that I had already worked out a schedule for everything in an
organized plan. I managed to talk with the doctors who insisted for me to stay on the regiment of
medication they prescribed but at the end gave me their minimum requirements they could
recommend. As long as I agreed, I would tell them when I when something didn t feel right and took
full dosages when I could. This helped me to overcome my dilemma and allowed me to continue to
work my school schedule. Although there were many stressors in my life while returning to school, I
found that there was a great advantage and a more rewarding future because of it. For example, now
that I m back in school and doing well, my children look up to me as more of a role model. They see,
that no matter my medical

voluntarios/as.

imperative in the industry. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian banks to this new trend and
examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative technologies in their operations and the
resultant effects. Information and Communication Technology Information Technology (IT) is the
automation of processes, controls, and information production using computers, telecommunications,
software and ancillary equipment such as automated teller machine and debit cards. It is a term that
generally covers the harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all
levels. Communication is the conveyance or transmission of information from one point to another
through a medium. An example of how ICT has had an impact on the Banking Industry is that its
emergence allows banks to apply credit scoring techniques to consumer credits, mortgages or credit
cards. Hence, products that used to be highly dependent on the banks´ evaluation of its customers have
now become more standardized. Other examples of ICT impact on the Banking Industry include the
increased process efficiency, which can reduce costs in banks, and the branch renewal, where focus is
gradually shifting away from traditional brick and mortar banks towards the dual bank concept
