Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine Has Come A Long Way Over The
Therapeutic nuclear medicine has come a long way over the last decade. More than 20 million
Americans now benefit each year from nuclear medicine procedures used to diagnose and treat a
wide variety of diseases (SNMMI and Safe/Beneficial Medical Uses of Radiation, 2017).
This type of therapy is often used as a means to treat hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, bone
metastases from prostate and breast tumors, as well as other types of cancer and diseases. It can be
used alone or in combination with other therapeutic means of medicine, such as surgery or
chemotherapy. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of approximately 40% to 60% of patients
who are diagnosed with cancer (Errors in Radiation Therapy, 2009). In many cases, the... Show

This treatment may be very aggressive but, when it comes to cancer, being thorough is of utmost
importance.
Therapeutic nuclear medicine is used in many different ways to help and treat patients when they
are fighting cancer or other diseases. Doctors will take the steps to do whatever they can to make
sure that the patient will survive or at least achieve improvement in their health to some degree.
When a patient is undergoing surgery to remove the cancer cells, the doctors will often have them
go through radiation beforehand to shrink the cancer or tumor down to a size that is easier to
remove and to ensure they are not removing more than necessary. Often during surgery, the
surgeons will again treat the patient with radiation while they are open so that the radiation is
hitting the direct tumor or cancer cells being targeted. Another benefit is that it provides the
radiation treatment without having to direct it through the skin again. This reduces the amount of
radiation that the patient is getting to a certain degree. Once the surgery is over, the patient will
often have to continue with more treatments to make sure that, if anything was missed, it will be
attacked by the radiation and be prevented from spreading. Eliminating the cancerous cells can
often take more than one type of medical therapy, and it can often take multiple treatments

Apple Computer vs Microsoft
Introduction:
It seems that the competition that has been brewing between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has never really died down from the late 1970s, even as both
companies have had ups and downs in the stock market and in the consumer products market as
well.
Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple Computer
sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual graphical user interface (GUI)
elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and Macintosh operating systems. Some critics
claimed that Apple was really attempting to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop
metaphor for computer interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on

The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance and for the
first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as an audio visual work
instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this case there is also the unusual,
added complexity of a license that arguably covers some or most of the allegedly infringing
works. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of
looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of
,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the
user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way,
follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be
substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either
authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions.
Therefore they hold:
(1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make certain derivative
works, the district court properly started with the license to determine what Microsoft was
permitted to copy. Infringement cannot be founded on a licensed similarity. We read Microsoft s
license as the, district court did, to cover visual displays not the Windows 1.0

Passing and Human Relationships
Passing and Human Relationships
The Harlem Renaissance was a turning point for many African Americans. A vast amount of
literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African
Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness
and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring
the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race
relations in America. Nella Larsen s novel Passing concentrates on this theme with the story of
Clare, a tragic mulatto who passes as a white person. Not only is Passing representative of the plight
of the tragic mulatto, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that she has to deny her identity in order to feel safe eventually leads to her realization
that her life has become a lie. Clare tells Irene that she nearly died of terror the whole nine months
before Margery (her daughter) was born for fear that she might be dark (Larsen 168). Her husband
nicknamed her Nig, because she gets darker each day.
Although Clare s desire to return to the African Americancommunity outwardly seemed merely
whimsical, inwardly, Irene begins to see something groping, and hopeless, and yet so absolutely
determined inside this woman (Larsen 200). Clare will stop at nothing to leave the life she once
desired in order to re enter the African American community. Clare begins to realize that her
desire to return to her African American heritage overshadows any disaster it may cause. In
order to get the things she wants badly enough, she d do anything, hurt anybody, throw anything
away (Larsen 210). In reality, Clare s ultimate loss of soul is realized in the fact that she is
willing to forsake her family, including her daughter, in order to reclaim her racial identity. This,
not her eventual death, becomes Clare s ultimate tragedy. She loses something of her own soul
living in the world of white men. Clare feels that society forces her to abandon her family simply
because part of her is African American. The fact that Clare pretends to be white in order to

Analysis Of Love Is Not All
The poem Love is not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay stood out to me when reading poetry in
class. The meaning of the poem Love is Not All is to remind someone that there is more to life
than just love. For example, in a class discussion on September 26, it was discussed that love does
not supply the necessities of life (Craig). This poem serves as a reminder that there are things in life
that matter more than lovesuch as, food, shelter, and water. The poem Love is Not All stood out
to me because of my ability to relate to it and use it to help guide me through a bad break up.
This poem stood out to me because of its deeper meaning. This poem reminded me that love is
not all that exists and it is not all I have. When going through a breakup it can be very easy to
say, I m never going to find love or I am going to die alone , this poem is a reminder that you do
not need love to survive. When going through a bad break up you can lose sight of yourself and
the things that are important. For example, line five in Love is Not All states, Love can not fill
the thickened lung with breath (Millay 975). This means that love is not what is keeping you
alive. This helped to remind me that even though losing the person I thought I loved may hurt, it
was not going to kill me. This poem has a strong meaning of pushing through a hard time dealing
with love. This poem shinned a bright light on the important things in life. Love is like a bonus in
life, because it is not

The Islamic State Of Iraq And Al Sham
Most Americans do not know what ISIS is. However, those who do know , know how dangerous
these people are becoming. The Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham also known as ISIS, an Al
Qaeda affiliation is not only alive but spreading and spreading fast. The group started out in Iraq as
the world known Al Qaeda before rebranding themselves. Though both jihadi groups strived to
establish an independent Islamic state in the region of Iraq, ISIS believes in a much more brutal
regimine. Threating to take over both Iraq and Syria, killing and beheading both their own and
American/British foreigners in the name of their faith. The United Statesshould refrain and stop all
involvement in fighting ISIS.
ISIS which is also known by other names such as ISIL or the Islamic State, arised around 1999
in Iraq as a group of extreme Sunni Muslim Jihadists. Extreme jihadism is the practice of
extremely agressive interpretations of the Jihad and of Islamic fundamentalism. Though every
muslim somewhat follows their own Jihad , this group has taken it to another level both
believing it is right to kill and behead in the name of god. After Americas invasion of Iraq was over
, and with the neighboring civil war in Syria , the brutal group has been able to gain alot of power
in the past couple years and seems to be gaining even more now.
ISIS main goal is to establish a Caliphate that is based on the Sharia law. The Sharia Law is a
combination of following what the Quran, Hadiths, and fatwas

The United States Steel Industry
Steel has an intricate past and present. When scientist discovered how to mass produce steel the
moment marked the modern society s genesis. During that time, the United States Steel Corporation
dominated the steel industry. Today, the steel industry sees competition not only from native
business but from abroad as well. Steelis used in almost every major commercial load bearing
structure. Combined global competition and mixed uses has increased the need for civil engineers
to conduct specialized research.
A Brave New World
The United States steel industry has a rich history. America started its love affair with steel in the
mid 1800 s when Sir Henry Bessemer of England engineered what is today known as the Bessemer

The United States Steel Corporation led the field in steel production in early America. As of 2015,
the United States Steel Corporation is still a major player in the industry, but they also compete
against giants such as the Nucor Corporation, Steel Dynamics Incorporated, ArcelorMittal USA and
AK Steel Holding Corporation and the AK Steel Holding Corporation. In all, there are
approximately 50 major steel manufacturers in the United States. Three quarters of these
manufacturers hold membership in the Steel Manufacturers Association. Collectively, these
member companies employ over a half million workers. The group works together to set industry
standards the server the interest of the public and its members. They regulate steel industry policy
in areas such as operations, environment, human resources, safety and transportation. These
industry regulations create a demand for civil engineers who can carry out these objectives.
The Role of Steel in Modern Construction
Steel is a very versatile building material. Construction companies use steel in a variety of settings.
The most notable setting is in the building construction arena. Steel serves as the backbone of some
of the most strikingly beautiful structures in the United States. Designing these buildings so that
they are safe, to its occupants and the environment is a formidable feat. These projects are so
formidable that several engineers may have to work on a single project within specialty scopes

Healthcare Convention At Fletcher s Meadow Secondary School

While doing our research, which for myself started on November 13th, I learned many new things
about our healthcare system. It is common knowledge in Canada that our healthcare system also
known as medicare is social. The Canadian Healthcare System is a group of socialized healthcare
insurance plans that provides coverage of all Canadians, regardless of who they are or what their
socioeconomic status is. Healthcare in Canada is paid through taxes (publicly funded) and
administered on a provincial or territorial basis.
Some interesting things about our healthcare system was that it was started by Tommy Douglas in
1947 who was the premier of Saskatchewan at the time. Tommy Douglas is known as the Father of
Medicare and it is thanks to him, we even have our social healthcare system in the first place.
Douglas believed that everyone deserved access to free healthcare, regardless of who they are
(medical history, personal income, or standard of living), and that healthcare was simply a human
right. Another Canadian in the system is Jane Philpott, who is currently the health minister of
Canada, appointed by Justin Trudeau our prime minister.
One last thing that I found fascinating was travel insurance. Since healthcare is administered on a
provincial/territorial basis, you are only covered in the province that you live in. For Ontario, that
social insurance plan is OHIP. The

Raising The Death Penalty
In America, the death penalty is a highly debated topic. In the debate should the death penalty be
abolished, Diann Rust Tierney and Joshua Marquis argue this issue. Although the death penalty
system is prone to error and discrimination, space the death penalty should not be abolished because
win the executions started to raise the murder rate began to drop in America and that scientists have
proven that the death penaltyis a definite deterrent to murder. There have been many errors and
discriminatory problems when it comes to the death penalty. In the article, it states Finally, there s
the fact that the system is prone to human error and discrimination (Rust Tierney 22). After new
evidence is found, there are many more trials, and a lot of the people have been freed. Many
people believe that if you kill someone, you should not get the same punishment as what you did.
Finally, if the murder victim is white or poor, they have a higher chance of getting the death penalty.

Imperial Decline Causes
Causes of Imperial Decline
During the period of 600 BCE to 600 CE there was much political unrest throughout the world.
This essay will analyze the reason for collapse of once powerful ancient empires by scrutinizing
the rulers who led them. By looking at the circumstances of a fallen empire, a person can asses
that the neglect of government officials, stressed with vast war expenses, who levy high taxes that
lead to peasant uprisings, is the circular chain of events that will always eventually crumble a weak
empire. And as specific as they may seem, these crises developed many a time. The circular chain
of events almost always begins with a neglectful leader. But neglect can be defined in multiple
ways. Emperor Han Huandi of Han China was neglectful in his style of governing. He increased the
power of his court eunuchs, thus corrupting the system. Bribery was common. With the government
corruption, less time was spent worrying about common folk. Rebellions took place, and Han
Huandi continued to ignore his people, not granting them any compromise. Although the Han

can surmise that a leader must focus on their citizens first and foremost, not neglecting them with
the desire for more land that they can t even afford. Many leaders of the time bit off much more
than they could chew. It is clear now that the fall of civilizations can almost always be traced back
to the treatment of the poor and middle classes, even in empires as wealthy and powerful as Rome

Thimble Jellyfish Research Paper
The thimble jellyfish, or Linuche unguiculata is well known for the rashes it causes swimmers
while in it s larval stage. Most of the current research being conducted that I found was about this
topic. When released in large numbers the jellyfish often get caught in swimwear and let out their
stinging cells, causing a great deal of discomfort and pain to those affected. The thimble jellyfishis
aptly named, since it s shaped much like a thimble. They are very small, approximately 13 20
mm in length and radially symmetrical while in their medusa stage. However, the polyp can be
7.5 times larger, reaching up to 150 mm tall. They are equipped with eight short tentacles and
eight sensory organs. The thimble jellyfish can reproduce sexually in their medusa form, but they
can also reproduce asexually as polyps to form colonies. Males and females gather in the Atlantic
and the Caribbean Sea in large groups, during the spring, to mate. The fertilization happens inside
the female, then the larvae form in the water, or attach to one of the medusa s tentacles. They then
settle on hard surfaces to form polyps. From this point they can either reproduce asexually to
create new polyps, or they can break off into free swimming medusa. This breeding and creating of
new jellyfish usually take place from spring to late summer.... Show more content on

It starts with fertilization beginning in the female, it then moves outside of the female into the
open water. After it s in the water it swims to a hard surface where it forms as a polyp. Then, the
polyp undergoes strobilation to form buds that eventually break off into small jellyfish, or it
asexually reproduces to form more polyps. After that it takes a few weeks for the small jellyfish
to form into adult medusae. This completes the life cycle. However, since the polyp can form a
colony of polyps instead of forming jellyfish, it s hard to determine exactly how long the life cycle

Date Rape in the Philippines
Chapter I
Introduction
He said he loved me , I woke up without any clothes on, I couldn t remember , I thought we were
friends . These are just some of the phrases that a lot of rape victims have reiterated. Women that
have long been taken advantage of for men s sexual pleasure, it is the same in every country, not
just in the Philippines. Women have been fighting all throughout their history to gain equality, to
rise from oppression, to release themselves from male domination, that fight is still ongoing.

p. 69). rape is violence against women. It is a violation of her body and her trust. According to
Burns, a sociologist at Michigan State University, rape is forced and unwanted intercourse,
where sexual assault is used as a power and sex is a method (Mousseau, 2006. p. 1). Most rapes
are committed not by strangers, but by men known to women, perhaps someone they have gone
out with or are supposedly their friends. It can be someone she just met or even her fiancГ©, but
often it is an attempt to assert power or anger. A study by the National Center for the Preventive

percent knew their assailants. Of these, women fifteen to twenty five are majority of the victims.
Alcohol and drugs sometimes play a significant factor, especially in date rape or acquaintance rape

Symptom Management Theory ( Smt ) Of The University Of...
Symptom Management Theory The symptom management theory (SMT) of the University of
California, San Francisco (UCSF), was revised by its faculty and students in 2001 (Smith Liehr,
2014). According to Dodd et al. (2001), the subjective experience that suggests alterations in an
individual s functioning, sensation, and cognition is called a symptom. Dodd et al. state that their
theoryprovides a nonspecific symptom management model to guide nursing practice and research.
The SMT has three overlapping circles which contain the three domains of nursing science, also
known as concepts of metaparadigm of nursing. The three nursing science domains are the person,
the environment, and health illness. In the theory s model, the dimensions are affected by the three
nursing science domains (Dodd et al., 2001).
According to Dodd et al. (2001), there are three dimensions included in the SMT. First is symptom
experience, which includes the person s viewpoint, evaluation, and reaction to the symptom. The
second dimension is symptom management strategies, which are interventions that are intended to
postpone and reduce, if not able to totally prevent, a negative outcome from symptom experience.
The interventions that are done may be focused on resolving one or multiple components of the
person s symptoms to attain the planned outcomes. The last dimension is the symptom status
outcome, which is a result of interventions done during symptom management strategies. Multiple

Religion and the Workplace
Statement of the Problem
Religion is becoming an important issue when it comes to diversity in organizations. Employers are
either accommodating the increase in this diversity by creating groups within the organization or
they realize it is there and are not troubled by it, but are not creating these resource groups. As the
diversity of religion grows complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission grow as
well. What is behind the complaints and what is the EEOC doing to help religion?
Background of the Study Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints about religious
discrimination are rising faster than any other discrimination claim. Human Resources believe that
this religious conflict is not a workplace issue, but an employee issue. The most obvious opponents
of the faith at work movement are agnostics, people who question the existence of a higher being,
and atheists, who do not believe in any God. (Canas Sondak, 2014, p. 205) Bobbie Kirkhart
(President of the Atheist International Alliance) states religious diversity should not be the same as
race, gender, and ethnic diversity. She believes that religious groups should not be given the same
status as those listed. Not just atheists and those who question the existence of a higher being
disagree with religion in the workplace, but the cause of the rise of discrimination claims could be
of religious bias from the traditional American faiths. (Day, 2005)
While most of the religious organizations

Our Flag, the symbol of freedom for over 216, 000,000 citizens of our great land, and the banner
under which countless millions have given their last measure of devotion in wars to protect our
freedom, will never be forgotten. It is for us the living, in strength and unity, to love and respect
our Flag. As we remember our Flag, we know that it represents the living country and it is a
precious possession (Flag Etiquette).
The leader then commences to lead the audience in the pledge of allegiance and pray to God to
keep our nation safe. The national anthem is then played and the ritual is completed (Flag Etiquette).
During the ceremony the power is extremely hierarchical and resembles Mauss sacrifice circle

sacred there is no ordered structure of who exactly can perform the ritual. In the United States Flag
every citizen has the right to honor and retire their own flag; the U.S. flag code does not authorize
any particular organization with the duty of retiring unfit flags. Any one person or group can do it.
But while it is legal for anyone to retire the flag it is usually done through a military organization

politically correct manner. The role of law enforcement includes preserving the peace and
generating trust within the community. Communities rely on law enforcement to protect and serve,
while in return, law enforcement relies on the community to support and cooperate. In a perfect
world, the relationship between law enforcement and the community would be mutually beneficial
and harmonious. However, it is not easy enforcing the law in today s free society. Law enforcement
officers face the best and the worst in humanity. The strained relationship between law enforcement
and the community hinders the effectiveness of policeofficers. There are several approaches to
improve the relationship between police officers and the community. Some of these approaches
include community policing, use of force, body worn cameras, and specialized training
requirements for police officers, among others.
At some point in the history of the United States, citizens had a fearful yet healthy respect for law
enforcement officers. That respect is a vital part of the responsibility that comes from living in a
free society. It is part of the social contract, to follow the laws and respect authority, which makes
us a civilized nation. Regrettably, our current society has changed and the level of respect and
appreciation for authority has diminished. Officers can be thanked for risking their lives on a

Ed Fletcher s Response To The Message
Ed Fletcher was one of the creators of the song The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the
Furious Five, which was released in 1982. This song depicted a horrible scene of blacks living in
the ghettos, which was relevant socially because of the issue of racism that was being
addressed, and had been an issue for a long time. Although the book didn t mention much about
his personal life, as a black man it is obvious why he would want to create a song that addresses
racism towards blacks. The Message takes the approach of describing the awful treatment that
people living in the ghettos were receiving, which was particularly relevant to the artists who
created the song, like Ed Fletcher as I just mentioned, because they were all blacks who had likely
experienced this situation. The lyrics used in the song, such as Got no money to move out, I guess
I got no choice, Rats in the front room, roaches in the back, Junkies in the alley with a baseball bat

This song talks about someone coming home from the war who wasn t treated very well. They
lyrics are very straightforward, depicting a story through words such as, Got in a little
hometown jam, so they put a rifle in my hand; Sent me off to a foreign land to go and kill the
yellow man (Google). What s particularly ironic about this is that a lot of people thought that the
song was very patriotic, even though it s lyrics clearly state the opposite. One reason the book
suggested this might have been so was because people might not have even been listening to the
lyrics, hence weakening the impact of his message. One reason why Springsteen might have
created this song was because although he didn t have this experience himself, a lot of people his
age had come home from the war not long before and received this rough

Conquering Mount Everest
One would think that after reaching the summit of Mount Everest that you would sit at the top
and admire the view with feelings of accomplishment and pride washing over you. While the
truth of the matter is that climbers are often too exhausted to feel anything. When you get to the
top there is also little time that can be spent enjoying the scenery because climbers have little
spare time before they must climb back down the treacherous mountain. In the book Krakauer is
so tired from the climb up that he can hardly enjoy the moment of conquering Everest. He also
only took enough time to snap a few photos of some fellow climbers before he headed back down

Satyagraha, By Mahatma Gandhi
In 1869, one of the most prominent and influential men to ever live was born. Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi was born in Gujarat, India. Known for leading India to its eventual freedom
and inspiring movements across the world, Gandhi became India s Father of the Nation . His non
violent and non cooperative civil disobedienceprovided a sense of truth and firmness. Better known
as Satyagraha, as coined by Gandhi, became one of the best methods to fight injustices. Around the
world, Satyagraha has proven to work amongst others besides the Indians. In 1905, thousands of
workers protested in Russia to overthrow the Tsar and for better working conditions for the
peasant working class. Not only did it work in the 20th century, but Satyagraha has worked in the
21st century. In 2005, a breakdown occupying the Faroe Islands commenced leaving all workers to
protest in hopes for raises throughout their civil disobedience acts. During the 1980s, the US
government used the Marshall Islandsas a nuclear test site and natives used non violent protests in
hopes to end the lease and be able to return back to their homes. While Satyagraha was a concept
developed in 1906, the method is constantly used and was used even before Gandhi.
Around the same time Gandhi was born, Satyagraha was imminent throughout Russia. During the
late 19th century, Russia s autocracy was under attack. In 1894, Nicolas II replaced Alexander III
and attempted to make several liberal reforms, but the reforms failed.

Karen Rowe Fairy Tales Analysis
In the article, Feminism and Fairy Tales, Karen Rowe focuses on the impact that fairy tales have
on relationships and expectations for women today. One may wonder why it is love that is so
prominent in fairy tales, rather than something else. However, Rowe provides the answer in her
writing by saying, ...marriage is an estate long sanctioned by culture and theoretically attainable by
all women (356). Rowe suggests that many women dream of some day meeting their own Prince
Charming and essentially writing their own fairy tale. Where, in order to do so, fairy tales have led
them to believe that there is such thing as a perfect love, that marriage saves a womanfrom the
harsh realities in life, and that life only truly begins with marriage. Starting at a young age,
young girls are inherently brainwashed by fairy tales. Rowe explains in her article that most all
women dream of having a fairy tale love and therefore believe that there is such thing as a perfect
love (356). The dream is born at a young age when reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Often times when a young girl is going through puberty, she is constantly at war and in
competition with her mother in a patriarchal society. Because the men are the most powerful
figures in their society, females are always going at each other with hopes of out doing one
another, with hopes of winning over the men. Rowe explains this by focusing on the idea of evil
stepmothers in fairy tales. So, she finds herself depending on her father for protection, as he is
the masculine figure in her life (350). Once she grows up and begins to mature, she looks to find
a man to fill that position. In fairy tales, the prince is able to protect his princess from all evil,
physically and from society. However, men in real life cannot predict what happens beyond
physicality, so therefore they are not able to sustain the prince

Ethical Cases Of The Ford Pinto
In 1978 a tragic automobile accident occurred on U.S. Highway 33 in Elkhart county, Indiana
involving a 1973 Ford Pinto that killed three teenagers. The Pinto they were driving was hit from
behind by a van which ruptured the vehicle s gas tank engulfing the car in flames. This provoked
the Elkhart County prosecutor to push for a criminal homicide charge against Ford Motor Company
. This trial was big and would affect many American businesses in concerns of corporate
responsibility and product liability.
Even though this was the first criminal case against Ford Motor Company it doesn t mean these
were the first people to lose their lives. There had been hundreds of people who either burned to
death or were left scared and disfigured in similar accidents involving the Pinto. Ford Motor
Company knowingly sold an unsafe car to their customers and paid out millions to settle law suits
for damages out of court. They also spent many more millions lobbying against Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standard 301. They fought against this standard until they felt it was profitable to
make the change to the Pinto design which was determined by their cost benefit analysis. This to
me was not a wise ethical decision as it would eventually ruin the company s reputation as well as
the lives of people involved.
During this 20 week trial Judge Staffeldt advised the jury that Ford Motor Company should only be
found guilty if it could be proven the company had committed plain, conscious

Boot camp, also known as basic training, is one of the toughest programs you may go through. It

The Resurrection Is The Redemption From Sin Through Christ...
According to theologian Maja Weyermann, the resurrection is the redemption from sin through
Christ and therefore the nullification of death. In his biblical epistles to the Corinthians and the
Romans, the apostle Paul considers how the acts of Jesus Christ purge humanity of the previous
exploits of Adam, bringing salvation and life to all where there was previously sin and death. The
initial parallels that Paul draws between Adam and JesusChrist became the building blocks by
which church fathers developed their own soteriology and theories of recapitulation. The most
famous of which is St. Irenaeus of Lyons, whose writings developed an early understanding of
Christian theology in the late second century. Drawing on Paul s biblical writings, Irenaeus further
developed his theory of atonement, or recapitulation, that focuses on the idea of a do over that
undoes previously committed sin. Based on the theological assertions made by Paul and Irenaeus,
recapitulation in the greater doctrine of salvation is achieved through Christ as the second Adam,
the Virgin Maryas the second Eve, and the Church as the second Eden.
The central claims concerning recapitulation are found in the Pauline epistles of First Corinthians
and Romans in the New Testament. The first biblical discussion of Paul s doctrine of salvation is
found in 1 Corinthians 15. Paul claims, For since death came through a human being, the
resurrection of the dead came also through a human being. For just as in

Confirmation of a constitution is a strong move that makes the drafted document the law of the

Adoption Essay 15
Adoption
When a person decides to adopt, he takes the responsibility of raising a child who is not
biologically his own. There are various reasons why people decide to adopt. Some say adoption is
the best thing for certain children and many successful stories prove it to be true. However, there
are also numerous tragic reports of adopted children being abused. Basically, what adoption meant,
and still means, is that someone (the adoptive couple) is promising to assume all responsibilities
for taking care of someone else (Powledge 4). How the adoptive parents go about raising the child
is completely up to them. Although there are many different types of families in today s society,

There have been many various surveys taken concerning adoptees. Times reported various
horror stories concerning adoption. Some stories include children being poisoned, a child being
shaken to death, and children being sexually abused (Gay 89). Unfortunately these are just a few
examples of many. Adoptees often suffer from attachment disorders, which are more common in
older children. These disorders caused by adoption are extremely noticeable and should be taken
seriously. These unattached kids often experience unresponsiveness to affection, serious
problems with hoarding or stealing food, abnormal eye contact problems, often thinking about
blood or fire, and are often overfriendly to strangers (Adamec 73). Also identity and self image
problems are a major cause of distress to adopted children (Harnack 21). Counseling and therapy
are highly recommended to help kids deal with these disorders. Even though there are numerous
negative stories about adopted kids, there are also lots of success stories. Either way the adoptive
parents are totally responsible for the outcome of all situations concerning the child they decide to
adopt. Families may have different structures but they are all responsible for providing basic needs
(Foster 99).
Adoptive parents and biological parents are both fully capable of providing all the basic needs.

The Correlation Of Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder
The Correlation of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder
Just as complex as the trillions of cells that keep our bodies functioning are the effects and
correlations of mental health and substance use disorders. The effect of substance use disorder and
psychiatric illnesses impact individuals biologically, psychologically, and sociologically, however,
the correlation among mental illnesses and substance use disorders are not clearly defined. Due to
a lack of knowledge of substance use as a disorder and the correlation with mental health, the
individuals who suffer from these conditions are marginalized and pushed to tattered edges of their
social strata. Mental health and substance use disorder can create devastating effects on the
individuals as well as their micro, meso, exo, and macrosystems, which perpetuate the negative
effects and realities of these individuals. In our current times with the mass amount of substance use
the plagues our society, and the continued high volume of mental health, it is critical that we gain
an understanding of the correlation between mental health and substance use disorders to better
treat and support those whose realties are filled with unknown pain and exile. Mental health and
substance use disorder and their affects are clearly related, however, the question that remains is
whether or not substance use disorders can create the manifestation of mental illnesses?

Language, Subsistence Practices, Kinship And Descent,...
In this paper I will be discussing in depth the Maori people. I will include a short background and a
quick summary of history and then describe a few aspects of their culture including: language,
subsistence practices, kinship and descent, marriage and household, beliefs and worship, and a
unique cultural practice.
The Maori, culturally Polynesians, are the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand. The people who
call themselves the Maori are originally from the Polynesian islands and settled in New Zealand
around the 13th century. The tribes of the Maori did not identify themselves by a collective name
until European settlers arrived and then the use of the name Maori, which means ordinary came
into use. The Maori today make up about 15% (565,329 people) of New Zealand s population
with the majority living in urban area, while there are still few who live in the ancestral tribal
areas. Many also live overseas with 70,000 in Australia and 10,000 in England.
Around 1300 AD, a great migration of people set sail for what is now New Zealand. These
people came in seven very large canoes called Waka which were built to withstand rough seas
and carry many people including all of their possessions over long journeys. The present day
Maori people can trace their origins to the various Waka. The settlers from each Waka separated
into tribes called iwi . As time went on and population grew, the people spread out through the land
and created a social structure with iwi (tribes), hapu

Dopamine Model Essay
The Dopamine Model (DM) has been around since the twentieth century (Preston, O Neal and
Talaga, 2017). The model believes that the cause of schizophrenia symptoms is from abnormal
dopamine in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). The premise is based off two observations. The first
one is that antipsychotic drugs are able to bind and block the dopaminereceptors (Preston, O Neal,
et al., 2017). The second observation is that the antipsychoticdrugs increases dopamine which create
paranoid schizophreniasymptoms (Preston, et al., 2017).
The Glutamate Model premise is from the phencyclidine (PCP) drug (Preston, et al., 2017). The
upside of the glutamate model is that the PCP is able to block the glutamate at the N methyl D
asparate signals in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). PCP increases symptoms that schizophrenia lack
such as, negative thinking, apart and disorganization (Preston, et al., 2017).
Neurodevelopmental/Neurodegenerative Model (NNM) is different from the former two models.
NNM examines the biological factors that are considered abnormal (Preston, et al., 2017). It has
been believed through evidence that schizophrenia is a progressive disorder with this loss of
cognitive use (Preston, et al., 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ambition is not only restricted to the desire to accumulate wealth or power, it can be found in the
desire to be better every day, to seek new challenges and fight for them, without having to trample

Analysis Of Still Life With Golden Breams By Francisco De...
Many artists through time have used art to express emotion or a standpoint, and Francisco de
Goya can surely be classified under this category of artist. Famously known for his controversial
relationship with the Spanish government the audience may conclude that many of his painting
will have a connection to the dispute. For example, in Still Life with Golden Breams most
people may see it as a well made still life of lifeless fish but in reality, it holds a deeper meaning.
For instance, when someone gets the opportunity to observe this composition they could say that
the inability for the Golden Breams to close their eyes reminds the viewer of how the fish were
ones alive. That is to say Goya probably made this still life to symbolize... Show more content on

Texture and mass are also very evident in this artwork. Francisco de Goya used texture and value
to his advantage to create a realistic figure that contains mass. The illusion of mass is so well
portrayed that it is almost as if the viewer could reach in and grab a fish out of the canvas and
hold it like a merchant in a fish market. In addition, the way the fish are stacked on top of each
other renders an organic rhythm that flows easily. In other words, the Golden Breams do not
look as if they were in an artificial potion rather it looks natural. Overall, Goya used atmospheric
perspective to create the sense of proximity of the fish to the viewer by modifying color, value,
and texture. The overall style of Francisco de Goya was miscellaneous since it evolved and
changed through his careers as an artist, however, his message to portray his standpoint and
feeling has been there since the beginning. Goya s brush strokes would vary from slow and
delicate to raid and aggressive depending on his work. In addition, his use of contrast would
deviate from time as well but in his most noticeable artwork he would highlight the main subject
and darken the background. The way Goya used light and darkness ended up created a unique

status or wealth. Battuta finds one of their death rituals interesting and seems very intrigued by
this practice. The practice involves the burning of a wife after her husband dies. After the widow
burns herself, the widow s family does gain a certain stature and does gain a reputation for
fidelity. However, a widow that does not perform this practice must dress in crude garments and
must live with her own people in misery and is despised for her lack of fidelity. Battuta also is
interested in another death practice that involves the Indians. This is the practice of drowning
themselves in the River Ganges. After they die, the body is burned and the ashes are taken into the
river.

Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt
ABSTRACT
In the present work, PVA Ag nanocomposite films with thickness 0.18 mm, constant silvercontent
(0.4 wt. %) and different time of reactions (0.1, 3, 5, 7, 9 h) were prepared by chemical reduction
methods. Surface topology, optical and electrical properties of PVA Ag nanocompositewere studied
using absorption spectroscopy, electrometer, atomic force microscope (AFM) and
photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared nanocomposites.
Optical absorption coefficient studies showed a peak at 427 nm for all samples, in addition to the
peak at 200 nm for undoped PVA film. There is observable change in the absorbed intensity at 427
nm with the time of reaction. The refractive index was found increase with increasing the time of
reaction. It was found that the root mean square (RMS) roughness. Frank poole emission is the
prevailing transport mechanism for all samples. While PL intensity at 427 nm increase as the time
of reaction is increased.

The Nation Of Islam And African Americans
The Nation of Islam was founded by Wali Farad in Detroit, Michigan in 1930. While Farad is
credited with the foundation, most of the teachings came from a different movement. It evolved
from the Moorish Temple of Science founded by Timothy Drew (Source 1). Drew preached that
Islam was the correct faith for African Americans. Drew also preached that African Americans were
superior to Caucasians. The Nation of Islam, along with being a religious movement, was a
movement for change. They wanted to raise awareness and create racial pride within the African
Americancommunity (Source 1). The Nation of Islam wanted to improve the lives of African
Americans, however, how they wanted to achieve that improvement was unacceptable. The Nation

Blood Libel is the belief that Jews kidnap children and use their blood in their rituals. The
controlling of the media and finances resemble Hitler s argument that Jews were after world
domination. These two examples of the Nation of Islam slandering Christianity and Judaism are
only two of the many examples of slander. The Nation of Islam created an us vs. them mentality.
This mentality is dangerous and can have disastrous effect on society. The hatred can lead to
conflicts and wars. Along with denouncing any religion other than Islam, they denounce anyone
that is not African American. This is the second reason that the movement was unacceptable. The
Nation of Islam used the teachings of Timothy Drew from the Temple of Science (Source 3). Drew
preached that African Americans were the superior race. He especially focused on their superiority
over the Caucasians. Drew also preached that the Caucasians were doomed because Jesus was a
black man who attempted to redeem the Black Moabites, only to be executed by the white
Romans (Source 3). These teachings influenced the Nation of Islam greatly and lead to their belief
in African American superiority. It is important for African Americans to feel a sense of pride,
however, that should not lead one to believe that they are better than others based off of their skin
tone. This prejudice leads to discrimination of other based on skin color. Instead of falling

Debate, Suspicion and Controversy Created by College...
The Silence is Over
College admission policies have caused tremendous controversy, debate and suspicion in the eyes of
Americans today. Causing students to stress out even more and call into question the merit and
validity of such policies. Because students feel certain admission policies are preventing their
chances of admissions. The most controversial admission policy is affirmative action. Since whites
and other non minorities feel that this admission policy doesn t benefit them, so they attack it and
say it is unjust. But in all actuality this admission policy is miniature compared to other preference
such as legacy preferences. But whites do not attack this policy and overlook its significance
because it benefits them. To show the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it is a necessity for black Americans to have access to a quality education, because the mind
cannot be wasted, especially this day in age (Brown xii). So as a society we need to make a means
for everyone, including minorities to have this quality education.
I am going to use my personal experiences of discrimination, stereotyping, and racism, to
emphasize that we are not in a point in society were everyone is equal . All my life I have been
stamped as unqualified and undeserving. To emphasize my place in society, whites have
spoken words of defeat and racism into my life. I am constantly called Nigger and Nigga every
day of my life. This directly demonstrates that blacks are not considered worthy enough to be
addressed by their name, but rather addressed in derogatory names. People do not understand the
power of these two words and they use it very loosely. Now a days whites feel it is ok to use the
transformed version of nigger, because they took out the er and added an a. But is there really a
difference? No, there is not, whites and blacks have taken a horrific word that has a historically
negative connotation and changed the meaning. I have been called this word everywhere I go. In
the bathroom, in the middle of class, by my coach, etc. Last year when I was walking home from
school. First, I was approached by a white truck with two white guys. They started slowing down

The Tort Of Intrusion On Seclusion
Introduction
The Ontario Court of Appeal recognized the tort of intrusion on seclusion in Jones v Tsige. This
decision provided the foundation for determining damages under the tort. The foundation in Jones
was modified by case law. This multiple case analysis will explore how an Ontario court should
calculate damages, with reference to the following cases: Alberta v Alberta Union of Provincial
Employees, Hopkins v Kay, and Condon v Canada. Taken together, these cases indicate that a
damage award in Ontario should reflect the offensiveness of the invasion of privacy and the harm it
caused. These factors should be balanced against any steps taken by the defendant to rectify the
breach. Ultimately, this assessment should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interest protected by the tort is intangible. Therefore, proof that a recognized economic interest
was harmed is not required. For this reason, Sharpe JA capped potential damages at $20,000.
Sharpe JA is trying to leave room to differentiate between degrees of highly offensive intrusions. He
concluded that a range is necessary to maintain consistency, predictability, and fairness between one
plaintiff and another .
To determine where a case fits within the range, an Ontario court should consider five factors when
assessing damages:
(1) The nature, incidence and occasion of the defendant s wrongful act, (2) the effect of the wrong
on the plaintiff s health, welfare, social, business or financial position, (3) any relationship, whether
domestic or otherwise, between the parties, (4) any distress, annoyance or embarrassment suffered
by the plaintiff arising from the wrong, and (5) the conduct of the parties, both before and after the
wrong, including any apology or offer of amends made by the defendant.
Sharpe JA did not mention whether this list was exhaustive. Furthermore, aggravated and punitive
damages are neither excluded nor encouraged under the tort, unless the case is exceptional.
Sharpe JA found that the defendant s deliberate and repeated actions arising from a complex
domestic arrangement, and its provocation of strong feelings and animosity in the plaintiff,
favoured a higher award. In contrast, the fact that the plaintiff suffered no

Organ Donation Operations Improvement Plan Essay
Project plan to increase organ donation rates at Temple University Hospital
Introduction
Over 88,400 Americans are currently awaiting a life saving organ transplant. As of the end of
February there were 4,375 transplants performed from 2,263 donors; 1033 of those donors were
living donors (primarily kidney transplants) (UNOS, 2005). Extrapolating this data, this year over
26,000 people will receive a transplant. Hundreds to thousands die each year during that wait.
Our local Organ Procurement Organization, the Gift of Life (GOL) services the eastern half of
Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. In this region, 4,556 people are active on one
or more transplant lists (GOL, 2005). For example, one person could ... Show more content on

The goal is to have a conversion (also commonly called consent) rate of 75%. This means that
three of four families of eligible organ donors that are asked, actually consent to the donation.
The consent rate at TUH at the end of 2003 was 60% and dropped to 57% by the end of 2004
(GOL, 2005). At the end of March 2005 (the first quarter), the conversion rate was 43%. The
hypothesis is that the proper best practice process had not been consistently implemented and that
the decreased overall donation rate is largely due to the hospital staff not referring 30% of eligible
patients to the GOL.
The Problem
The number of Americans awaiting a life saving organ transplant greatly out numbers the available
organs. What can TUH do differently to increase the number of organ donors to at least the DHHS
Collaborative s goal of a sustained conversion rate of 75%?
The internal process
The internal process of organ donation at TUH was mapped (see diagram 1) from the time the
patient arrives to the hospital up to the transportation of the surgically recovered organs. The
process itself is well established by the GOL as being optimal for the desired outcome. The
learning team did an analysis of each step in the process. A few areas were identified as key points
in the process that could be positively impacted to improve organ donation consent rates.
For continued discussion the individual person performing many of these activities

Nation and United States Essay
Words like country, nation, state, and even nation state are used to define social, cultural and
political relationships in the United States and around the world. There are many defining
characteristics that allow countries and groups of countries to understand each other, and in some
cases, for unions. The purpose of this essay is to briefly discuss nations, states, and nationstates,
how the United Statesconstitutes a nation state, and the European Union.
A nation is a union of people who share social similarities such as language, beliefs, culture,
possibly religion, and values. A state is defined by laws and politics, uniting people by geography,
population, and government. The modern nation state is more of a combination of nation ... Show

Two examples of foreign policy objectives for the United States include ending the war in Iraq
and promoting peace in the Middle East. President Oboma has made it clear that he aims to end
the war as quickly as possible, although many Americans do not feel like enough is being done.
He has mandated that Operation Iraqi Freedom has been replaced by Operation New Dawn, and
we have fundamentally changed the mission of the remaining United States forces in Iraq
(Foreign Policy, N.D). There is also a goal in place to create peace in the Middle East, not just
between countries, but within the Middle East as well. In Fact, The President believes that we
cannot afford to wait to work for peace in the region, so he appointed a Special Envoy for Middle
East peace on his second day in office (Foreign Policy, N.D).
The European Union is transnational meaning multinational or international. Some of the major
historical events, which occurred during the twentieth century, which led to the creation of the
European Union, include World War Two, communism protests in Hungary, the launching of
Sputnik, and the creation of a common market in Rome. Some of the nations that make up the
European Union include France, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. Today the European Union
assists in creating alliances and safety partnerships, especially after the terrorist attacks in the
United States. Two examples of foreign policy objectives for the

Civil Disobedience In The 1960 s
Civil disobedience is not allowed by law, that is why it is done. Not because standing up for a
person s cause is a polite thing to do, not because it is acceptable by law, but because people want
to make a stand. The definition of civil disobedience is as follows: the refusal to comply with
certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest.
Civil disobedience is a protest against the oppression people feel from their government, and
when they feel they have no other route, no other way to get their voices heard, they calmly
gather as a people, and show their government what they feel is wrong. The people who join in the
marches and stand up at the rallies, they know that in the eyes of the law, what they are doing is
wrong. Yet, this people know that in the eyes of morality and justice for the people, what the
government is doing is wrong, so they accept those facts, and accept their punishment.
A great era for civil disobedience in the United States of America, would have to be the 1960 s. It
was a time for figureheads, such as Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr., to sprout up and be
acknowledged by history. Now known as the civil rights movement, people ... Show more content

Anytime a government keeps people under their thumb, they will eventually have to learn that
alienating a people, only gives them a cause to fight for, and the longer and harsher they are
suppressed, the more they grow to reset their government. Take for example the French Revolution,
a tired third estate, who had been overlooked, and overtaxed, created their own party, which
eventually lead to uprisings and war within France, taking the head of their monarchs. Of course,
the French Revolution wasn t an example of civil disobedience, it was an example of another route

Power In Dracula
The Gothic world is fascinated by the struggle for power . In light of this statement, discuss the
ways in which writers present types of power. Gothic writers are fascinated by power struggles, but
often shock readers by reversing conventional power differences. Examples of this include the
power of rationality against religion, and the female voice and sexuality being powerful, highly
controversial topics during the Victorian era. These power struggles often reflect the writer s own
experiences and views, for example Poe frequently presents power struggles between humans and
the supernaturaldue to losing his loved ones, and mental illness. Similarly, in Dracula , Stoker
portrays the supernatural as powerful, but with strong sexual undertones,... Show more content on

Carter uses sexual dominance in The Bloody Chamber as a metaphor for women s social
inequality with He in his London tailoring; she, bare as a lamb chop . The separation of the
pronoun she represents the isolation forced upon her by her overbearing husband. The girl is
also mentioned after the Marquis in this sentence, showing how she ranks after him and has no
control now that she s married. Women are often seen as passive as the Marquis assesses the girl
with the eyes of a connoisseur , implying that she is an object to be owned and lusted after.
Sivyer writes the man assumes an active and dominant role whilst his bride is positioned as
passive . Her passivity is shown when she says He made me put on my choker , she was forced
to do it and offered no resistance. The choker itself represents her captivity as it s similar to a
collar, implying that the Marquis is her owner, also exemplified as he calls her my little nun . This
condescension mocks the girl for her innocence, asserting the Marquis s dominance, but also the
possessive pronoun my shows ownership; he believes that his wife belongs to him. Interestingly,
Dracula uses similar possessive language to assert power over another male (Jonathan), exclaiming
This man belongs to me! This declarative statement shows that he has decided that Jonathan is his
property, showing his desire for dominance and possession to exhibit his power. His wickedness is

Business, Sustainability And The Natural Environment
Business, Sustainability and the Natural Environment, Daniel Katz During the past 25 years,
awareness of the environment has increased tremendously. Non profit organizations look beyond
institutional goals, and instead, try to find a shared vision that works for everyone in the society.
Our society needs to stop consuming as if we have an infinite planet; we have to have integrity for
the world we live in because the natural resources that have been sustaining us will not last forever.
Companies need to evolve with the modern age and changing consumer market. For example,
Netflix never thought they would produce their own shows, however, with the changing consumer
market, they have done just that. Also, NGO s sometimes have to partner with bigger for profit
companies in order to target a larger consumer base, thus, solidifying the fact that the for profit and
non profit sector have to team together in order to sustain the environment in which we inhabit.
Business, Sustainability and Poverty, Jacqueline Novogratz This plenary begins by stating that a
financial crisis occurs when people in the markets do not trust each other. Trust is what makes a
society fair. Corruption flourishes upon weaknesses in economic, political, and social institutions,
and this diverts economic growth by eroding the quality of public goods. In this age, income
equality has increased across countries due to globalization and technology; however, income
inequality within countries has increased as

Benefits Of Aquatic Therapy For Patients With Low Back Pain
if you are suffering chronic back pain being in warm water will cause vasodilation which will help
lead blood towards the area of pain.1
Cold water can cause vasoconstriction which will help stop the blood from running to an area of
acute injury. A systematic review by Waller , Lambeck , and Daly, composed of 37 aquatic
therapy studies with 1007 participants, and picked 7 of those studies and used McGill Pain
Questionnaire, Oswestry Disability Index, the number of work days lost from low back pain, and
subjective assessment scale for pain to measure the outcomes. The SIGN 50 and PEDro scale
assessment forms were used to assess the methodological quality. The results showed that aquatic
therapy has a beneficial effect on low back pain, but, is no better than any other intervention.8 This
study demonstrated that aquatic therapy can be beneficial for patients with low back pain but are
not the only intervention that can help low back pain. A study by Baena Beato, Artero, Arroyo
Morales, Robles Fuentes, Gatto Cardia, and Delgado FernГЎndez, study with forty nine
participants with low back pain, and split them into three groups active, waiting list, and
controlled group. The active group was then split into two months or five times/week. Participants
on the waiting list were part of the control group but were offered aquatic therapy after the follow
up period of the study. The active group showed huge improvements in decreased disability and

The 90S Were A Time Of Great Advancements In Both Healthy
The 90s were a time of great advancements in both healthy and not so healthy foods, it was a time
when laws were passed to regulate and educate our consumption and a time of rising obesity. For
me, growing up in the 90s was great, there was video games, great TV shows, and a lot of
interesting things happening in the world, but what I remember most fondly is the food. I
remember being in the cafeteria trying to trade some of my lunch for my friends gushers and
fruit roll ups, I remember asking my mom for a dollar to get some hot cheetos from a vending

popular during this time period. In the 90s there were many innovations in the realm of junk
food, snacks like Gushers, Ring Pops and Hot Cheetos were introduced to the market and have
become a staple of children s lunchboxes and vending machine all across the united states. Hot
Cheetos is a brand of chips made by frito lay that is a variation of regular cheese cheetos, the
addictive nature of hot cheetos have made them popular with children and adults alike. Mcdonald

childish appeal with more robust and sophisticated ingredients, however the Arch Deluxe failed to
capture its demographic and was taken off the menu only a couple years after it was introduced.
In addition to the Arch Deluxe, Mcdonald s also introduced the ill fated Mclean Burger in an
attempt to appeal to the more health conscious customer, however this venture would prove
fruitless as the burger was nearly tasteless and the tradeoff between the fat content and flavor was
not worth it to most customers. While Mcdonald s released its fair share of floppers

man would be able to say his good byes to his friends and family and further prepare them and
himself for his death.
Because the young man thought that the signs would be very obvious he didn t look close

  • 2. Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine Has Come A Long Way Over The Therapeutic nuclear medicine has come a long way over the last decade. More than 20 million Americans now benefit each year from nuclear medicine procedures used to diagnose and treat a wide variety of diseases (SNMMI and Safe/Beneficial Medical Uses of Radiation, 2017). This type of therapy is often used as a means to treat hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, bone metastases from prostate and breast tumors, as well as other types of cancer and diseases. It can be used alone or in combination with other therapeutic means of medicine, such as surgery or chemotherapy. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of approximately 40% to 60% of patients who are diagnosed with cancer (Errors in Radiation Therapy, 2009). In many cases, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This treatment may be very aggressive but, when it comes to cancer, being thorough is of utmost importance. Therapeutic nuclear medicine is used in many different ways to help and treat patients when they are fighting cancer or other diseases. Doctors will take the steps to do whatever they can to make sure that the patient will survive or at least achieve improvement in their health to some degree. When a patient is undergoing surgery to remove the cancer cells, the doctors will often have them go through radiation beforehand to shrink the cancer or tumor down to a size that is easier to remove and to ensure they are not removing more than necessary. Often during surgery, the surgeons will again treat the patient with radiation while they are open so that the radiation is hitting the direct tumor or cancer cells being targeted. Another benefit is that it provides the radiation treatment without having to direct it through the skin again. This reduces the amount of radiation that the patient is getting to a certain degree. Once the surgery is over, the patient will often have to continue with more treatments to make sure that, if anything was missed, it will be attacked by the radiation and be prevented from spreading. Eliminating the cancerous cells can often take more than one type of medical therapy, and it can often take multiple treatments (Radiation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Apple Computer vs Microsoft Introduction: It seems that the competition that has been brewing between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has never really died down from the late 1970s, even as both companies have had ups and downs in the stock market and in the consumer products market as well. Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple Computer sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual graphical user interface (GUI) elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and Macintosh operating systems. Some critics claimed that Apple was really attempting to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop metaphor for computer interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance and for the first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as an audio visual work instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this case there is also the unusual, added complexity of a license that arguably covers some or most of the allegedly infringing works. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of ,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way, follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions. Therefore they hold: (1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make certain derivative works, the district court properly started with the license to determine what Microsoft was permitted to copy. Infringement cannot be founded on a licensed similarity. We read Microsoft s license as the, district court did, to cover visual displays not the Windows 1.0 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Passing and Human Relationships Passing and Human Relationships The Harlem Renaissance was a turning point for many African Americans. A vast amount of literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race relations in America. Nella Larsen s novel Passing concentrates on this theme with the story of Clare, a tragic mulatto who passes as a white person. Not only is Passing representative of the plight of the tragic mulatto, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that she has to deny her identity in order to feel safe eventually leads to her realization that her life has become a lie. Clare tells Irene that she nearly died of terror the whole nine months before Margery (her daughter) was born for fear that she might be dark (Larsen 168). Her husband nicknamed her Nig, because she gets darker each day. Although Clare s desire to return to the African Americancommunity outwardly seemed merely whimsical, inwardly, Irene begins to see something groping, and hopeless, and yet so absolutely determined inside this woman (Larsen 200). Clare will stop at nothing to leave the life she once desired in order to re enter the African American community. Clare begins to realize that her desire to return to her African American heritage overshadows any disaster it may cause. In order to get the things she wants badly enough, she d do anything, hurt anybody, throw anything away (Larsen 210). In reality, Clare s ultimate loss of soul is realized in the fact that she is willing to forsake her family, including her daughter, in order to reclaim her racial identity. This, not her eventual death, becomes Clare s ultimate tragedy. She loses something of her own soul living in the world of white men. Clare feels that society forces her to abandon her family simply because part of her is African American. The fact that Clare pretends to be white in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Love Is Not All The poem Love is not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay stood out to me when reading poetry in class. The meaning of the poem Love is Not All is to remind someone that there is more to life than just love. For example, in a class discussion on September 26, it was discussed that love does not supply the necessities of life (Craig). This poem serves as a reminder that there are things in life that matter more than lovesuch as, food, shelter, and water. The poem Love is Not All stood out to me because of my ability to relate to it and use it to help guide me through a bad break up. This poem stood out to me because of its deeper meaning. This poem reminded me that love is not all that exists and it is not all I have. When going through a breakup it can be very easy to say, I m never going to find love or I am going to die alone , this poem is a reminder that you do not need love to survive. When going through a bad break up you can lose sight of yourself and the things that are important. For example, line five in Love is Not All states, Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath (Millay 975). This means that love is not what is keeping you alive. This helped to remind me that even though losing the person I thought I loved may hurt, it was not going to kill me. This poem has a strong meaning of pushing through a hard time dealing with love. This poem shinned a bright light on the important things in life. Love is like a bonus in life, because it is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham also known as ISIS, an Al Qaeda affiliation is not only alive but spreading and spreading fast. Extreme jihadism is the practice of extremely agressive interpretations of the Jihad and of Islamic fundamentalism. Though every muslim somewhat follows their own Jihad , this group has taken it to another level both believing it is right to kill and behead in the name of god. After Americas invasion of Iraq was over , and with the neighboring civil war in Syria , the brutal group has been able to gain alot of power in the past couple years and seems to be gaining even more now. Grade 10 students do games based on health, grade 11 students research different countries and compare their healthcare system to Canada s, and grade 12 students choose a hot topic and research it to present on the day of the convention. However, there were no grade 10 students this year, only grade 11 and 12. I, Jaskiran, and Crystal were in a group together. While doing our research, which for myself started on November 13th, I learned many new things about our healthcare system. It is common knowledge in Canada that our healthcare system also known as medicare is social. The Canadian Healthcare System is a group of socialized healthcare insurance plans that provides coverage of all Canadians, regardless of who they are or what their socioeconomic status is. Healthcare in Canada is paid through taxes (publicly funded) and administered on a provincial or territorial basis. Some interesting things about our healthcare system was that it was started by Tommy Douglas in 1947 who was the premier of Saskatchewan at the time. Tommy Douglas is known as the Father of Medicare and it is thanks to him, we even have our social healthcare system in the first place. Douglas believed that everyone deserved access to free healthcare, regardless of who they are (medical history, personal income, or standard of living), and that healthcare was simply a human right. Another Canadian in the system is Jane Philpott, who is currently the health minister of Canada, appointed by Justin Trudeau our prime minister. One last thing that I found fascinating was travel insurance. Since healthcare is administered on a provincial/territorial basis, you are only covered in the province that you live in. For Ontario, that social insurance plan is OHIP. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Imperial Decline Causes Causes of Imperial Decline During the period of 600 BCE to 600 CE there was much political unrest throughout the world. This essay will analyze the reason for collapse of once powerful ancient empires by scrutinizing the rulers who led them. By looking at the circumstances of a fallen empire, a person can asses that the neglect of government officials, stressed with vast war expenses, who levy high taxes that lead to peasant uprisings, is the circular chain of events that will always eventually crumble a weak empire. And as specific as they may seem, these crises developed many a time. The circular chain of events almost always begins with a neglectful leader. But neglect can be defined in multiple ways. Emperor Han Huandi of Han China was neglectful in his style of governing. He increased the power of his court eunuchs, thus corrupting the system. Bribery was common. With the government corruption, less time was spent worrying about common folk. Rebellions took place, and Han Huandi continued to ignore his people, not granting them any compromise. This was made illegal in the United States, because we now understand that appointing those for office based on who likes them, is undesirable and impractical. But in our world s early history, it took falls and rises of countries for them to learn. • 12. Thimble Jellyfish Research Paper The thimble jellyfish, or Linuche unguiculata is well known for the rashes it causes swimmers while in it s larval stage. Most of the current research being conducted that I found was about this topic. When released in large numbers the jellyfish often get caught in swimwear and let out their stinging cells, causing a great deal of discomfort and pain to those affected. The thimble jellyfishis aptly named, since it s shaped much like a thimble. They are very small, approximately 13 20 mm in length and radially symmetrical while in their medusa stage. However, the polyp can be 7.5 times larger, reaching up to 150 mm tall. They are equipped with eight short tentacles and eight sensory organs. The thimble jellyfish can reproduce sexually in their medusa form, but they can also reproduce asexually as polyps to form colonies. Males and females gather in the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea in large groups, during the spring, to mate. The fertilization happens inside the female, then the larvae form in the water, or attach to one of the medusa s tentacles. They then settle on hard surfaces to form polyps. From this point they can either reproduce asexually to create new polyps, or they can break off into free swimming medusa. This breeding and creating of new jellyfish usually take place from spring to late summer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It starts with fertilization beginning in the female, it then moves outside of the female into the open water. After it s in the water it swims to a hard surface where it forms as a polyp. Then, the polyp undergoes strobilation to form buds that eventually break off into small jellyfish, or it asexually reproduces to form more polyps. After that it takes a few weeks for the small jellyfish to form into adult medusae. This completes the life cycle. However, since the polyp can form a colony of polyps instead of forming jellyfish, it s hard to determine exactly how long the life cycle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Dodd et al. (2001), the subjective experience that suggests alterations in an individual s functioning, sensation, and cognition is called a symptom. Dodd et al. state that their theoryprovides a nonspecific symptom management model to guide nursing practice and research. The SMT has three overlapping circles which contain the three domains of nursing science, also known as concepts of metaparadigm of nursing. As the diversity of religion grows complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission grow as well. What is behind the complaints and what is the EEOC doing to help religion? Background of the Study Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints about religious discrimination are rising faster than any other discrimination claim. Human Resources believe that this religious conflict is not a workplace issue, but an employee issue. The most obvious opponents of the faith at work movement are agnostics, people who question the existence of a higher being, and atheists, who do not believe in any God. (Canas Sondak, 2014, p. 205) Bobbie Kirkhart (President of the Atheist International Alliance) states religious diversity should not be the same as race, gender, and ethnic diversity. She believes that religious groups should not be given the same status as those listed. The role of law enforcement includes preserving the peace and generating trust within the community. Communities rely on law enforcement to protect and serve, while in return, law enforcement relies on the community to support and cooperate. In a perfect world, the relationship between law enforcement and the community would be mutually beneficial and harmonious. However, it is not easy enforcing the law in today s free society. Law enforcement officers face the best and the worst in humanity. The strained relationship between law enforcement and the community hinders the effectiveness of policeofficers. There are several approaches to improve the relationship between police officers and the community. Some of these approaches include community policing, use of force, body worn cameras, and specialized training requirements for police officers, among others. At some point in the history of the United States, citizens had a fearful yet healthy respect for law enforcement officers. That respect is a vital part of the responsibility that comes from living in a free society. This song depicted a horrible scene of blacks living in the ghettos, which was relevant socially because of the issue of racism that was being addressed, and had been an issue for a long time. Although the book didn t mention much about his personal life, as a black man it is obvious why he would want to create a song that addresses racism towards blacks. The Message takes the approach of describing the awful treatment that people living in the ghettos were receiving, which was particularly relevant to the artists who created the song, like Ed Fletcher as I just mentioned, because they were all blacks who had likely experienced this situation. What s particularly ironic about this is that a lot of people thought that the song was very patriotic, even though it s lyrics clearly state the opposite. One reason the book suggested this might have been so was because people might not have even been listening to the lyrics, hence weakening the impact of his message. This provoked the Elkhart County prosecutor to push for a criminal homicide charge against Ford Motor Company . • 27. The Resurrection Is The Redemption From Sin Through Christ... According to theologian Maja Weyermann, the resurrection is the redemption from sin through Christ and therefore the nullification of death. In his biblical epistles to the Corinthians and the Romans, the apostle Paul considers how the acts of Jesus Christ purge humanity of the previous exploits of Adam, bringing salvation and life to all where there was previously sin and death. The initial parallels that Paul draws between Adam and JesusChrist became the building blocks by which church fathers developed their own soteriology and theories of recapitulation. The most famous of which is St. Irenaeus of Lyons, whose writings developed an early understanding of Christian theology in the late second century. Drawing on Paul s biblical writings, Irenaeus further developed his theory of atonement, or recapitulation, that focuses on the idea of a do over that undoes previously committed sin. Based on the theological assertions made by Paul and Irenaeus, recapitulation in the greater doctrine of salvation is achieved through Christ as the second Adam, the Virgin Maryas the second Eve, and the Church as the second Eden. The central claims concerning recapitulation are found in the Pauline epistles of First Corinthians and Romans in the New Testament. • 33. Language, Subsistence Practices, Kinship And Descent,... In this paper I will be discussing in depth the Maori people. I will include a short background and a quick summary of history and then describe a few aspects of their culture including: language, subsistence practices, kinship and descent, marriage and household, beliefs and worship, and a unique cultural practice. The Maori, culturally Polynesians, are the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand. The people who call themselves the Maori are originally from the Polynesian islands and settled in New Zealand around the 13th century. The tribes of the Maori did not identify themselves by a collective name until European settlers arrived and then the use of the name Maori, which means ordinary came into use. The Maori today make up about 15% (565,329 people) of New Zealand s population with the majority living in urban area, while there are still few who live in the ancestral tribal areas. Many also live overseas with 70,000 in Australia and 10,000 in England. Around 1300 AD, a great migration of people set sail for what is now New Zealand. These people came in seven very large canoes called Waka which were built to withstand rough seas and carry many people including all of their possessions over long journeys. The present day Maori people can trace their origins to the various Waka. The settlers from each Waka separated into tribes called iwi . As time went on and population grew, the people spread out through the land and created a social structure with iwi (tribes), hapu ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Dopamine Model Essay The Dopamine Model (DM) has been around since the twentieth century (Preston, O Neal and Talaga, 2017). The model believes that the cause of schizophrenia symptoms is from abnormal dopamine in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). The premise is based off two observations. The first one is that antipsychotic drugs are able to bind and block the dopaminereceptors (Preston, O Neal, et al., 2017). The second observation is that the antipsychoticdrugs increases dopamine which create paranoid schizophreniasymptoms (Preston, et al., 2017). The Glutamate Model premise is from the phencyclidine (PCP) drug (Preston, et al., 2017). The upside of the glutamate model is that the PCP is able to block the glutamate at the N methyl D asparate signals in the brain (Preston, et al., 2017). PCP increases symptoms that schizophrenia lack such as, negative thinking, apart and disorganization (Preston, et al., 2017). Neurodevelopmental/Neurodegenerative Model (NNM) is different from the former two models. NNM examines the biological factors that are considered abnormal (Preston, et al., 2017). Many artists through time have used art to express emotion or a standpoint, and Francisco de Goya can surely be classified under this category of artist. Famously known for his controversial relationship with the Spanish government the audience may conclude that many of his painting will have a connection to the dispute. For example, in Still Life with Golden Breams most people may see it as a well made still life of lifeless fish but in reality, it holds a deeper meaning. Francisco de Goya used texture and value to his advantage to create a realistic figure that contains mass. The illusion of mass is so well portrayed that it is almost as if the viewer could reach in and grab a fish out of the canvas and hold it like a merchant in a fish market. In addition, the way the fish are stacked on top of each other renders an organic rhythm that flows easily. In other words, the Golden Breams do not look as if they were in an artificial potion rather it looks natural. Overall, Goya used atmospheric perspective to create the sense of proximity of the fish to the viewer by modifying color, value, and texture. The overall style of Francisco de Goya was miscellaneous since it evolved and changed through his careers as an artist, however, his message to portray his standpoint and feeling has been there since the beginning. Goya s brush strokes would vary from slow and delicate to raid and aggressive depending on his work. He concluded that a range is necessary to maintain consistency, predictability, and fairness between one plaintiff and another . To determine where a case fits within the range, an Ontario court should consider five factors when assessing damages: (1) The nature, incidence and occasion of the defendant s wrongful act, (2) the effect of the wrong on the plaintiff s health, welfare, social, business or financial position, (3) any relationship, whether domestic or otherwise, between the parties, (4) any distress, annoyance or embarrassment suffered by the plaintiff arising from the wrong, and (5) the conduct of the parties, both before and after the wrong, including any apology or offer of amends made by the defendant. Sharpe JA did not mention whether this list was exhaustive. Furthermore, aggravated and punitive damages are neither excluded nor encouraged under the tort, unless the case is exceptional. Sharpe JA found that the defendant s deliberate and repeated actions arising from a complex domestic arrangement, and its provocation of strong feelings and animosity in the plaintiff, favoured a higher award. Not because standing up for a person s cause is a polite thing to do, not because it is acceptable by law, but because people want to make a stand. The definition of civil disobedience is as follows: the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest. Civil disobedience is a protest against the oppression people feel from their government, and when they feel they have no other route, no other way to get their voices heard, they calmly gather as a people, and show their government what they feel is wrong. The people who join in the marches and stand up at the rallies, they know that in the eyes of the law, what they are doing is wrong. Yet, this people know that in the eyes of morality and justice for the people, what the government is doing is wrong, so they accept those facts, and accept their punishment. Business, Sustainability And The Natural Environment Business, Sustainability and the Natural Environment, Daniel Katz During the past 25 years, awareness of the environment has increased tremendously. Non profit organizations look beyond institutional goals, and instead, try to find a shared vision that works for everyone in the society. Our society needs to stop consuming as if we have an infinite planet; we have to have integrity for the world we live in because the natural resources that have been sustaining us will not last forever. Companies need to evolve with the modern age and changing consumer market. For example, Netflix never thought they would produce their own shows, however, with the changing consumer market, they have done just that.
