CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION One might think that chemists are a bunch of boring scientists
who wear lab coats and look at beakers all day, but did you know that many toys you play with
are made using chemistry? Some of your favorite toys like Gak, Slime and Silly Putty started out
as chemistry experiments. In fact, some of your favorite toys may have been invented by chemists
who work for toy companies like: Crayola, Play Doh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, the study will seek to answer the following questions: 1. Would it be possible to make
a homemade bouncy polymer from a simple polymer found in white PVA glue and corn starch? 2.
Which of the following ratio will produce the best homemade bouncy polymer? 3. What would be
the effect of the varying ratio of the ingredients on the physical characteristics of the homemade
bouncy polymer? SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY Science is fun. It cannot only be learned in
the four corners of the classroom but rather it can also be learned at home. Chemistry can be a very
intimidating subject that is hard for some students to understand. This project study would like to
help demonstrate some basic principles of chemistry. Specifically, this project study will help
students understand that there is a difference between a physical change and a chemical change.
Silly putty, as well as bouncing polymer is fascinating and educational. It can teach everyone about
Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
4
Results of the study would provide the pupils an opportunity to learn while having fun. Likewise,
this study will provide opportunity to parents to have some
quality time with their children. The result and findings of this study would give educators an
alternative way of learning outside the classrooms. It would also encourage them to use other

Sleep Deprivation And Childhood Deprivation
Background: According to sleepfoundation.org, the average teenager (14 17 years old) should be
getting approximately 8 10 hours of sleep per night and young adults (18 25) should be getting 7
9 hours of sleep ideally (Ferrara Gennaro, 2001). Getting this amount of sleep is ideal for proper
growth and health in teens/young adults. However, generally speaking ask any typical High
Schooler, more common in Juniors/Seniors, and they will say that their sleep schedule is nowhere
close to the recommended amount (Dinges, Pack, Williams et al. 1997). This is where the issue of
sleep deprivation arises. Getting under the recommended hours of sleep for your age group is
generally considered sleep deprivation, however, getting under 6 hours of... Show more content on

Since your body adjusts to a deprived state, people may not even know they are sleep deprived
and how it is negatively affecting them. Alongside the cognitive performance issues is the more
dangerous motor function issues, which have to do with the movements and actions of your
muscles. These problems arise because when you are sleep deprived, your wake state is
destabilized (Durmer Dinges 2005). Sleep deprivation increases the risk of accidents by humans
to an estimated 20%. (Durmer Dinges 2005) As stated prior, being sleep deprived is considered
having less than 6 hours of sleep per night and these results have been prevalent to people living
busy lives. Having impaired motor functions can be especially dangerous during activities that
require the person to be attentive, such as driving. Accidents that are related to sleep deprivation
have been estimated to have an impact of $43 $56 billion annually (Durmer Dinges 2005). A
large portion of these accidents have to do with motor vehicles all related to fatigue or general
sleepiness while operating a vehicle. Alongside reduced sleep duration and prolong driving
duration are all contributing facets to these statistics/facts.However, being able to get 8 9 hours of
sleep can counteract this issue and inverse the effects of sleep deprivation (Durmer Dinges 2005).
Sleep deprivation doesn t only affect the brain s functions but can also affect one s personality

Oxybenzone Effects On Corals
Recently, the scientific community has investigated the effects of chemicals found in sunscreen,
specifically oxybenzone, on coral health. The properties of this chemical impede coral reproduction
through endocrine disruption and planulae dissolution as well as promote viral infections in the
symbiotic dinoflagellate found in coral. The effects of oxybenzone potentially boost coral
bleaching and harm population dynamics, however before concluding what level of aggression is
needed to combat oxybenzone, additional research is needed to improve our overall understanding
of its impacts on specific coral species and various geographic locations.

Some locations, such as U.S. Virgin Islands and Hawaii, have concentrations of oxybenzone much
higher than the quantities tested on corals, where other locations have much lower or even
undetectable amounts (Downs, 2013). There are still many uncertainties about oxybenzone, for
example if certain coral species are more sensitive to it than others or if it effects spawning and
brooding corals differently. More detailed research regarding toxicological impacts of oxybenzone
on corals is imperative for determining what actions are necessary to protect coral health. For now,
a critical first step to minimizing the potential impacts includes informing the public about the
environmental consequences of sunscreen use and suggesting alternate forms of UV protection
such as rash guards, wetsuits, or sun protective clothing (McCoshum, 2016). If additional research
substantiates these concerns, there may come a point for extensive and costly policies to manage
the quantity of oxybenzone released into the

Divine Comedy – Pagans in Paradise
Divine Comedy Pagans in Paradise
In the beginning when God created humanity, it was said that He created all humans in His image
of goodness (Genesis 1:27). Dante then adds in his Divine Comedy that God has instilled a certain
predetermined capacity of goodness in each human being as He wills, which should be utilized
fully during life (Paradise 3:84). It would then be assumed, in Dantean thought, that all humans
have the choice to live fully to this capacity and assume a place in heaven upon death, to fail to
utilize this capacity and suffer in Hell for eternity, or to sin and seek repentance at some point in
their lives, allowing them to enter Purgatory. Yet, this statement seems to have certain restrictions
when we first look at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But upon further reading, it is evident that there are pagans in Dante s Paradise. The two examples
of virtuous pagans in Heaven are Emperor Trajan of Rome and Ripheus of Troy. Ripheus was
said to have been baptized after his death while in Purgatory, a thousand years before baptism
existed. Emperor Trajan was supposedly brought back to life by God s sanctifying grace and
was baptized in his second life (Paradise 20:106 108). Unless you believe another human being
besides Jesus Christ was resurrected, this explanation of why Trajan is found in Heaven is
invalid. In addition, a reason must exist why God would show so much concern for Ripheus of
Troy to allow him baptism in Purgatory. Therefore, from a different angle, one must analyze what
the virtuous pagans in Limbo are lacking to explain the presence of Trajan and Ripheus in Paradise.
When Dante encounters these two pagans in Paradise, he immediately questions their presence.
He asks the eagle of the pagans presence there and the bird replies, And to this realm none ever
rose who had not faith in Christ, before or after he was crucified (Paradise 19:104 106). From
this statement we are told that every soul in Heaven had faith in Christ, whether or not they had
knowledge of Him. But how can you have faith in a person whom you do not know? Since it
seems impossible for a human to have faith in someone they have never heard of, it can be assumed

Similarities And Weaknesses Of Vulnerability Scanners
Comparison of Vulnerability Scanners
Introduction
With the advancements in information technology, the security concern of the users in the network
is increasing drastically. Various approaches have been adopted to protect respective network from
un authorized users. New innovative methods have been presented in order to identify potential
discrepancies that can damage the network. Most commonly used approach for this purpose is
vulnerability assessment. Vulnerability can be defined as the potential flaws in the network that
make it prone to possible attack by un authorized user. Assessment of these vulnerabilities provides
a way to identify as well as develop innovative strategies in order to protect the network. Numbers

Accessing as well as eliminating the all vulnerabilities requires in depth understanding and sound
knowledge about them. It becomes essential to have basic idea behind the working of these
vulnerabilities like the way in which they appear in any system. One must be aware of the flaws
needed to be corrected in order to free the whole system from vulnerabilities, alternatives can also
be devised for this purpose and how to reduce the risk of them in a proactive manner [2]. Various
methods have been introduced for the identification of these vulnerabilities. Some of the methods
include attack graph generation, static analysis and vulnerability scanners. This work presents a
detailed study of the vulnerability scanners. It also analysis number of vulnerability scanners and
make comparison of them based on their identification abilities.
Vulnerability Scanners
A Vulnerability scannercan have access to a variety of vulnerabilities across complete information
systems including network systems, software applications, computers and operating systems. It
must be able to identify the vulnerabilities that could have originated from system administrator
activities, vendors or even everyday user activities. Possible examples of these vulnerabilities
include software bugs, web applications, insecure default configurations, lack of password
protection or even failure to run virus scanning

Cardiac Cycle Is The Sequence Of Events That Occurs When...
Cardiac Cycle
The cardiac cycle is the sequence of events that occurs when the heart beats.(biology.about.com).
There are two phases of the cardiac cycle. In the diastole phase, the heart ventricles are relaxed and
the heart fills with blood. In the systole phase, the ventricles contract and pump blood to the
arteries. A cardiac cycle is completed when the heartfills with blood and the blood gets pumped out
of the heart.
The events of the cardiac cycle described below trace the path of the blood as it enters the heart,
is pumped to the lungs, travel back to the heart and is pumped out to the rest of the body. Note that
the events that occur in the first and second diastole phases happen at the same time. This is also
true for the events of the first and second systole phases.
Cardiac Cycle: 1st Diastole Phase
During the diastole phase, the atria and ventricles are relaxed and the atrioventricular valves are
open. De oxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cavae flows into the right atrium.
The open atrioventricular valves allow blood to pass through to the ventricles. The SA nodes
contracts triggering the atria to contract. The right atrium empties its contents into the right
ventricle. The tricuspid valve prevents the blood from flowing back into the right atrium.

Cardiac Cycle: 1st Systole Phase
According to Richard E. K. (PhD., 2011) Systole represents the time during which the left and right
ventricles contract and eject blood into the aorta

Analysis Of The Movie Last Year
Last year, the Hollywood film Noah was released. Obviously I was intrigued, so I called up my
Pastor and some friends and planned to go to the cinema to see it. As many sources claimed, I can
agree that this is certainly one of the least Biblical, Biblical films ever made. Of course the actual
story of Noah in the bibleis not very long, so it was to be expected that the producers would add
some filler Hollywood action, but how much of Noah is actually based on the text that appears in
the Old Testament, and how much is fantastical movie magic? Just like the Old Testament, the
film starts at the very beginning. Noah tells his children the story of creation and almost stays
true to the Genesis story of creation. To begin I will explore the characters presented in the film
and the original story. The movie introduces two groups of people, Lemech and Noah the good
guys and Tubal Cain and his people, the evil men, who are of course descendants of Cain, which is
consistent with the Old Testament. Later, the character Methuselah is introduced, Noah s
grandfather. He lives on the top of a mountain and for some reason has a constant craving for
berries (The Bible says nothing about this strange detail). He also seems to posses some mystical
powers. Methuselah isn t mentioned much in the Bible, but he is the oldest documented person
mentioned in the book. Lemech, Noah s father, is only brought up in the Bible for genealogy
purposes. The movie on the other hand shows that

Organic Food And Farming Benefits For Health
Organic Food and Farming Benefits for Health
To the casual shopper it may appear that one of the biggest differences between organic and non
organic food can be found on the price tag, however, it is important to realize that the true cost of
food is not necessarily the price listed on the price tag. Looking more into the quality, how its
made and where the food comes from, is beneficial in our choice of the food we pick. Picking
organic food have become ever so popular. Organic food is grown or raised using little or no
synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Instead, organic farmers try to work
with natural processes to promote the health of their crops and livestock. For example, an organic
farmer might apply compost (decaying plant material) instead of chemical fertilizer to replenish the
soil. Instead of using pesticides, the farmer may rely on natural predators to control insect pests.
(Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia)
Some people choose organic food because they prefer the taste. But there are many more factors
that influence the decision to choose organic food. One of the factors include that: Organic foods
are produced without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Genetically Modified
Organisms (GMOs). This entire topic of GMO s is a rather important topic in of itself, but going
on briefly about what it is, will help understand it better. GMO s are living organisms whose genetic
material has been artificially manipulated

iPhone vs. Android Showdown: Which Phone Is Best for Power Users?
INTRODUCTION
The newest iPhone comes out in two weeks; the Android OS continues to deploy on better and
better hardware; and both operating systems roll out exciting new features and innovations with
each release. So which deserves your hard earned cash?
A Starting Point
You can evaluate iPhone and Android devices from countless angles, so rather than pretend that
we ve got the One True Comparison, it only seems appropriate to highlight that we re not
necessarily your average user. For more specifics on how we judge these devices, read this footnote.

Android s brilliant pull down window shade notification tray, on the other hand, is a beautiful thing
that could make any iPhone owner jealous.
Voice to Text; Winner: Android
Nearly every text field on an Android device can be filled with a few words from your mouth, and
it works surprisingly well. You can respond to emails by voice, send long text messages by voice
while you re walking around Target, respond to your editor s IMs while you re at a graduation
ceremony, and so on, as long as you re comfortable talking to your phone (it is a phone, so you
should be). Apart from voice to text in third party apps, iOS doesn t support voice to text at all.
Syncing; Winner: Android iPhones can be incredible standalone devices, but they re surprisingly
old fashioned when it comes to syncing, requiring users to plug into their computers and connect to
iTunes to do all sorts of syncing and activating that could be more conveniently done wirelessly.
Android phones support pretty great over the air syncing with your Google account, so much so
that if you were to lose your previous Android phone, simply entering your Google account into a
new one can get you up and running with a usable phone in a jiffy.
Non Google Sync; Winner: iPhone
Android s great at syncing seamlessly with Google s servers, but it s not so keen on syncing with
other popular sources of data like, say,

The Three Approachs Of The Three Theories Of Communication
1.Though persuasion skills seem intangible and only possessed by a few lucky individuals, they
can actually be broken down into techniques. Three of these approaches, the principles of liking,
authority, and social proof, can be explained by three theories of communication. Elaboration
Likelihood Theory states that when one processes a message critically, through the central
route, it is more likely for that message to change one s belief and behavior, whereas if the
message is processed superficially, through the peripheral route, there will only be a short term
attitude modification. There is a higher level of elaboration, or the degree to which a person
assesses a piece of information closely, when the person feels fondly towards the persuader
because people have a higher likelihood of paying attention to individuals they like. They are
more likely to comply and wish to please. Theory of Reasoned Action explains that the manner in
which one acts is affected by one s attitude about the behavior, in addition to one s beliefs about
subjective norms (how other people want one to act). The principle of authority works with this
theory because people are more likely to obey and believe someone who has power over them.
Experts are believed because they have more information than the person, and can morph the
subjective norm, as well as an individual s own attitude about a behavior. Cognitive Dissonance
refers to when different cognitive components are inharmonious and

Coal Mining In West Virginia Essay
Before 1890 in West Virginia, you would not be able to see any signs of coal mining. However,
after 1890 coal mining surged due to new legislative representatives favoring the use of land in an
industrial sense. Coal mining was now dominating the southern region of West Virginia. In the
beginning, coal miningdid not seem to have many effects on the people or land; but, eventually
people became very aware of the negative consequences that came from coalmining. People are
now aware that coal miningin West Virginia was almost entirely detrimental to the environment
as well as the community. Throughout West Virginia, everyone agreed there was a large amount
of air pollution from coal mines. These air pollutants were so bad in the 1990s that the Clean Air
Act was enacted. However, this act had unforeseen consequences of its own. Coal companies
began to need much more readily available coal. So, they mined coal that was closer to the
surface by using mountaintop removal. This resulted in a decrease in jobs for miners because this
was a much easier and efficient way of removing coal. The many jobs that were originally created
by coal mining were now being cut. Now numerous people in West Virginia were left unemployed.

Special Education And The Civil Rights Movement
Special education is a relatively new concept in education. The question is why? Although, the
Federal Government required all children to attend school since 1918, this did not apply to students
with disabilities. Many state laws gave school districts the ability to deny access to individuals they
deem uneducable. The term uneducable varied from state to state, schoolto school, and even
individual to individual. If students were accepted into the school, they were placed in regular
classrooms with their peers with no support or in classrooms that were not appropriate to meet their
needs. This started to change with the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The lawsuit
Brown vs the Board of Educationsued to end segregation of public schools laid the ground work
for Individuals with Disabilities Act. The next major impact in education was the enactment of
Elementary and Secondary Act signed into effect by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The
purpose of this law was to provide fair and equal access to education for all, established higher
standards, and mandated funds for professional development, resources for support education
programs, and parent involvement. Under this law, programs like Head Start were created and
celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Despite additional federal funds and mandatory laws,
children with disabilities were unserved or underserved by public school due to loop holes with in

Heroin And Its Effects On The Brain
Heroin, a chemical imposter, is an illegal, extremely addictive drug derived from opium. Heroin
can reach the brain by methods of injection, nasal inhalation, or smoked. In our brain there are
many receptor sites, each site specific for different neurotransmitters. In this paper I will refer to
the opiate receptor. Naturally, our brain is responsible for making endorphins, a natural opiate of
the body. These endorphins are the feel good chemical sensations in the brain, when we are
exposed to pain or stress. Heroinmimics the opium chemical, creating the effect of pleasure and

The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back
to morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors,
specifically in the brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for
life, like blood pressure, arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live;
heroin use and overdose can then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as
suppression of breathing (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly
affects our processes of living, it also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the
feeling of heroin as a euphoric or rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where
the actual high lasts hours. Other sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and
depression, safe and warm feelings, and pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations,
it also changes motor functions, such as reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested
reaction times in heroin abusers of different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two

The Human Of Human Trafficking Essay
Although slavery was abolished in 1865, the practice of it is still very alive today. Human
trafficking, a form of modern slavery, is the buying and selling of people, whether it s for forced
labor or commercial sex. Every year, thousands of adults and children, especially girls, are forced
into the endless trafficking ring. The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 20.9
million victims of human traffickingglobally ( The Facts ). The human trafficking industry is a
worldwide network that is worth an estimated 150 billion dollars ( The Facts ). Millions of
stories about victims experiences can be found and read. Many of these victims are sucked into
the world of human trafficking because they are immigrants trying to escape to the U.S. and have
debts to pay off once they get there. Trafficking happens everywhere, from big city shopping
centers, to small town massage parlors. People are being captured, sold and transported across the
world via various forms of transportation at all times. With updated technology, it becomes easier
and easier to buy and sell these slaves and with this, the chances of being caught and punished is
almost nothing. Many people think slaveryis dead; however, human trafficking is still alive and it
needs to be stopped because many people are being forced into involuntary sex and labor.
Normally, human trafficking can be identified as one of two different kinds of trafficking. The two
kinds of trafficking are known as

Adequacy of Organization s Long-term Counter Attack Actions

In Case study number one (Dhillon, 2007), Stellar University(SU), which is public education
institution, had a system breach in its Information Systems(IS). The IS of SU contained many
types of IT such as Mainframe, AS400, Linux, VAX, Unix, AIX, Windows(3.1 and up to 2003),
Apple, RISC boxes Storage Area Networks(SAN), Network Attached Storage(NAS) and much
more. Sadly, SU has had a security breach on some of its systems. Even though everything was

to increase the chances of the students entering the salon. Many college students can not afford to
pay for extra tanning costs, however if they are able to use campus cash they will more likely to
use tanning facilities. This movement promotes marketers and business owners into wanting to
open a salon near a college campus. If the business owner comes to an agreement with the nearest...

Speaking the Truth
Speaking the Truth Before my current boss at the University, my boss was Susie. When I first
started working there, Susie and I did not get along very well. She would do things that I did not
think modeled leadership, such as telling her followers that they could not take off two weeks
before start week then she would take off during that time. As time progressed, she became a
better leader and we began to get along better. However, another team member that originally got
along with her began to miss a lot of work, come in late, leave in the middle of important jobs
that had to be finished, etc. As a result, she began to put a lot of pressure on this employee about
this behavior. The more pressure she put on him the angrier he got and he began to fight back in
a very unethical way. We would go into team meetings and she would tell us things such as I
went home for lunch and was so tired I did not come back for three hours and laugh saying I do
think John even noticed. John was her boss and he was located in another building, therefore he
was not aware of her comings and goings unless it was pointed out to him. While we the team
did not think this, was appropriate behavior for a leader as a team we talked about it being
wrong, but did not talk about it outside of our circle. However, the employee that she was putting
pressure on to shape up seen this as the perfect opportunity to retaliate against her and he went one
step above her boss and reported it. As a result,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Beeswara
Apply a moisturizer or a conditioner to retain alligator leather s natural oils and compounds and
maintain its luxurious appearance and texture. Beeswax is a good conditioner for this type of leather.
Use cleaning products that are specifically formulated for alligator leather. The wrong chemicals,
especially those in cowhide leather cleaning agents, can do more harm than good by darkening the
leather and damaging its skin.
Just like human skin, alligator leather can manifest adverse reactions to cleaning products. When
using a formula for the first time, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to check for staining
and other negative reactions.

One coat of wax or polish at a time is generally enough.
Apply a stain and water protector.
To be added under ADVANTAGE OF CAIMAN SKIN heading:
As we have mentioned earlier, caiman leather is relatively cheaper compared to crocodile and
alligator leather. This does not mean that caiman skin is of inferior quality, though. Part of the
reason caiman leather is more affordable is that caimans are not as hard to find. There are farms
where caimans are grown specifically for their skin.
The fact that caiman leather is not as soft or pliable as crocodile and alligator leather does not
make caiman skin low quality. In fact, its rigid body is highly ideal for boots, handbags, and other
items that need to hold their shape.
Also, although caiman leather has smaller tiles, it does have deeper ridges that give it more
character and personality. The Hornback, for instance, is favored by some manufacturers and
designers because of their distinctive scales, which add to the final product s appeal.
Finally, caiman leather has a rich history behind it. Back in the 30 s and the 40 s, it became a
popular raw material for women s handbags, briefcases, and small

Cyber Stalking
Cyber Stalking Defined
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately one in four stalking victims reported
some form of cyber stalking such as e mail (83%) or instant messaging (35%) and nearly three in
four stalking victims knew their offender in some capacity (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2012).
Cyber stalking has many classifications, most include the use of threats and stalking via email,
social media, or texting. Cyber stalking defined is the repeated used of electronic communication to
stalk or harass someone. Cyber stalking can have many faces and can involve more than one person,
ultimately cyberstalking is still a misconduct that often goes unnoticed in the social media realm.

Why Is Augustine Called The City Of God
Augustine, The City of God
In the 5th century, a Christian Bishop of Hippo named Augustine wrote a book called The City
of God. In an effort to defend the Church against the accusations made by the Pagans, he
discusses how there are two groups of people in which he divides them into two different cities.
Each city is based on either a love of God or on a love of self. The first city is the city of God
which is associated with the love of God. Next, is the city of Man, who is linked with the love of
self. Augustine uses these cities to trace history back to the beginning of the world showing that he
was different than those who came before him and that he knew what was going to happen.

These cities were formed between two loves. The earthly city by the love of self, even to the
contempt of god; the heavenly by the love of god, even to the contempt of self. Augustine shows
that the city of Man is where men can live according to themselves, while in the city of God, men
will live according to God s laws. In the Earthly city, they lived on the basis of rule. Leaders,
along with the people of the city were all about domination and believed in the glory of human
wisdom and strength. Contrary to the Earthly city was the Heavenly city. This city was focused
on the basis of God and there is no merely human wisdom, but there is a piety which worships the
true God as he should be worshipped. With the city of Man s love of self, they treasured their
leaders along with the symbolism of strength. The city of God loved their God, which was where
they believed internal peace could be found. Both cities have many differences between them, the
city of Man was visible, temporal, and corrupt while the city of God was invisible, eternal, and
perfect. Although, both cities overlapped focusing on rule and

called the United States of America. My journey is full of new surprises and discoveries of a
world so different from the one I am leaving behind, with its own beliefs and culture. This is the
story of an eighteen year boy and his first encounter with a new society, his first time away from
home and family. It was not an easy decision moving to a different country, leaving behind
everything and everybody, but I had the anxiety of traveling and seeing this new world that I
had seen only in the movies, the land of Christopher Columbus, where Indians and African
Americans lived unified on a vast territory. I still remember the feeling when my parents said
that we are moving to America. It was the time when I felt everything around the world had been
stopped, and I did not know what I should do next. I was unable to decide whether life was
making me move forward or it would cause me to face more trouble than achievement. I was
amazed by looking at the Diversity of people. I knew that there were drastic changes which
would be arising in my life which I seemed that it was hard to digest, but it seemed that the USA

The Benefits Of Alternative Fuel
The first use of any form of fuel was nearly two million years ago thanks to the curiosity of Homo
erectus. Since then fuel has become significantly more advanced, starting from ordinary wood to
what is now comprised of numerous chemicals and life threatening processes to obtain liquid
and gaseous fuels. These fuels are used to warm our homes, generate electricity, and even
transport us from one end of the globe the other. The most commonly used fuels are charcoal,
natural gases, and LPG. Most of the fuels we use today are problematic for future generations as
they are non renewable, and produce harmful chemicals that will traumatize the environment.
Though no fuel is without it s cons, the following data should suffice in explaining the benefits
of alternative fuel s such as Ethanol, Biodiesel, Hydrogen, Methanol and even sources that are
always readily available such as solar, hydro, and wind. Today coal is one of the most utilized
fuel sources, especially within the U.S. which comprises of 39% of U.S. s electrical generation.
Though its abundance and conversion to kWh s makes it a potent supplier, trapped within coal are
impurities such as sulfur and nitrogen that turn into pollutants once oxidized. Because of the
hazards from burning coal the use of it as a fuel source has declined since its extensive use during
the 1800 s. Oil is now the world s number one transportation fuel source, and though it is not a
significantly cleaner fossil fuel, it does produce less

Military Deployment Essay
We wait. We Hope. We pray. Until you re home again. When you re home, we re more than a
family. We are a nation... that is whole again. That is a very famous quote said by Oprah Winfrey
about our military personnel and family members. Military deployments have many stages
including pre deployment, deployment, post deployment, and the aftermath of the military. These
will affect the military member from the time they are active duty, to being a veteran. The pre
deployment is from the time the orders are assigned to the time the military member leaves for
deployment. The deployment is from the time the member leaves to the time they return back to
their duty station. The post deployment typically lasts about the three to six months after the
deployment ends. The period of being a veteran is from the time the member resigns or retires from
the military for the rest of their lives.

The Revolutionary War And The American Civil War
The Revolutionary War gave birth to America, but the American Civil War would define America s
future with the blood of its own citizens. The Civil War proved to be bloody and confusing war for
both the Union and Confederacy. Even in the confusion they both understood the importance of the
Shenandoah Valley and what it meant to their war effort and aspirations of victory. Whoever
controlled the Shenandoah Valleycontrolled a major logistical artery and also the entire Virginia
Region. The valley is the key to military strength and ultimate victory of the War so the
Shenandoah Valley Campaigns began. The Valley would be contested from the July 1861 until
March of 1865. The Valley covered an area form Blue Ridge Mountains south to the Allegheny
Mountains. The Valley allowed the Confederacy easy access to the Unions capital of
Washington D.C.. The same Valley would also provide the Union a direct route to the
Confederates capital of Richmond. Both capitals are only fifty miles apart which also highlights
the importance of the Shenandoah Valley. With the Valley being of grave importance to both
sides explains why it was fought over the majority of the duration of the civil war. The Union
would find the valley to be a tough nut to crack and found it hard to take advantage of what the
valley could offer. On the other hand the Confederacy realized its advantages early in the war and
exploited it. The confederacy knew that the valley provided a large base of sustenance. The

Liberia owes its establishment to the American Colonization Society; founded in 1816 to resettle

years later native rulers granted a tract of land on Cape Mesurado, at the mouth of the Saint Paul

U.S. Liberian relations became closer after the United States entered World War II In 1942 the
republic agreed to allow U.S. troops to be based in the country despite the fact that Liberia did not
declare war on the Axis powers until 1944. In 1945 Liberia became one of the original member
states of the United Nations. Following his election in May 1943, President William V. S. Tubman
pursued a policy of national unification and economic development through foreign investment.
The latter policy led to the exploitation in the 1950s of iron ore deposits in the Bomi Hills, located
north of Monrovia. In the presidential election of May 1951, women and indigenous property
owners voted for the first time, but the few thousand Americo Liberians living in the coastal region
still retained control of the government. The incumbent Tubman, candidate of the dominant True
Whig Party, was reelected without opposition. The government had suppressed the Reformation
and United People s parties. Their leaders, supported mainly by residents of the hinterland, were
arrested or exiled following the election. President Tubman was returned to office in the 1955
election, but he narrowly escaped assassination during his victory celebration Thirty people were

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Incremental Budgeting
1.INCREMENTAL BUDGETING
The procedure of budget formulation is called incremental budgeting .
With incremental budgeting, the budget used for the current fiscal year becomes the base for
incremental distribution for the next fiscal year. In other words in this system the expenditures are
made on basis of resources. If resources fall short the expenditures are cut down. Thus, this form of
budgeting agrees to the statement of cutting coat according to cloth. The assumption is that the
entire organization and all of its departments will continue to operate at a minimum with the same

Was Commodus Cruel Or Chaotic
I believe that Commodus was a cruel and chaotic ruler of Rome because of all the things that he
has done as emperor. Commodus was cruel and chaotic because he killed things for fun. Another
reason is Commodus started the fall of the roman empire(an extensive group of states or countries
under a single supreme authority, formerly especially an emperor or empress). One last reason that
Commoduswas cruel and chaotic is that he would fight as a gladiatorin the Colosseum. Some
people say that Commodus had a good education, making him a good leader but that s just wrong.

the differential association theory, as the characters show criminal behavior being emphasized

Ethnographic Writing and Relationships with Research Subjects
Anthropologists conduct research in order to answer specific questions about a particular group of
people and their culture. Most anthropologists use fieldwork to collect their data, which is then
interpreted within their ethnographic writing. When collecting their data, anthropologists use many
different approaches such as developing relationships with their informants, but do not illustrate
these relationships in their actual writing. Anthropologists Claire E. Sterk and Philippe Bourgois

also had major successes in 2015. After Caitlyn Jenner came out, the movement changed drastically.
It sparked many transgender people to come out to the media and discuss the inequalities and
violence that trans people face in society. However, perhaps the most important victory for the
LGBT was the legalizing of gay marriage across the country. This event happened on June 26, 2015
when the supreme court declared that denying two people the right to marry, regardless of gender,
is unconstitutional. Even though just a few accomplishments were named, many others occurred
that also had major impacts on the LGBT movement ( Best ). Although in recent months the

Comparison of Pepsi and Coca Cola Financials
Comparison of Pepsi and Coca Cola Financials
Introduction
Coca Cola and Pepsi are the two most popular and widely recognized beverage brands in the world.
They have been competing in the soft drink sector for over a century and both companies enjoy
a high degree of brand consciousness globally. Both companies try to market as part of a lifestyle.
Coca Cola uses phrases such as Coke side of life in their website, while Pepsi uses phrases such as
Hot stuff in their web, to promote the idea that Pepsi is in sync with the cool side of life.
Ironically, both Pepsi and Coke have similar beginnings: both were created in the 19th century and
both were the results of the experimental work of innovative pharmacists. Coke was created in ...

Although Pepsi s dividend payout ratio is slightly lower than Coca Cola s, the difference is
marginal. (Finance)
The Dividend Payout Ratio means the percentage of earnings paid to shareholders in dividends.
The payout ratio provides an idea of how well earnings support the dividend payments. More
mature companies tend to have a higher payout ratio. This ratio is calculated as Dividends per
share / Earnings per share. The Dividend payout ratio for Coca Cola is 48.2% while PepsiCo is
34.8%
The price/earnings ratio (P/E) is the best known of the investment valuation indicators. It is the
measure of the share price relative to the annual net income earned by the firm per share. The P/E
ratio has its imperfections, but it is nevertheless the most widely reported and used valuation by
investment professionals and the investing public. The financial reporting of both companies and
investment research services use a basic earnings per share (EPS) figure divided into the current
stock price to calculate the P/E multiple (i.e. how many times a stock is trading (its price) per
each dollar of EPS). A high PE ratio generally indicates increased demand because investors
anticipate earnings growth in the future. The PE ratio has units of years, which can be interpreted
as the number of years of earnings to pay back purchase price. The price/earnings ratio for Coca
Cola is 12.97 while PepsiCo is 16.24. (YCharts,

The Chuckwallas and Evolutionary Research
Ever since Charles Darwin s first publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859, island habitats
have been used by a number of scientists as the most efficient laboratories to observe the natural
process of evolution taking place in modern day organisms. Several kilometers northeast of the
Galapagos Islands, where Darwin famously performed his research, is a small group of islands in
the Sea of CortГ©s, also known as the Gulf of California, between the Baja California peninsula
and Mexico (see Figure 1 on page 18). Here many evolutionary biologists of the 20th and 21st
century performed research on the insular organisms inhabiting these island habitats. One group of
lizards in particular known by the common name chuckwallas has gained a lot of focus in
evolutionary research.
Chuckwallas is the name of organisms in the Sauromalus genus apart of the Iguanidae family. They
are herbivorous lizards commonly found in the deserts of southwestern United States and
Northern Mexico. Three species, in particular, are found on the islands off the cost of the
mainland within the Sea of CortГ©s: Sauromalus obesus (= ater), Sauromalus varius, and
Sauromalus hispidus (see Figure 2 on page 20). S. obesus is a common species found on the
mainland as well as few islands, while S. varius are S. hispidus are endemic to specific islands in
the Sea of CortГ©s: mainly San Esteban Island and Angel de la Guarda Island, respectively. Both of
these insular species also show signs of gigantism

Examples Of Assimilation In The Bread Givers
During the early nineteenth century, families of immigrants undergo assimilation to unite
themselves in American customs. The ideology that they will be accepted into a society and
embrace American identities has driven them to this process. A reality of upward mobility and
freedom are highly desired for immigrants transition. One author who portrays the temptation of this
New World America for the Jewish children arriving and having their lives greatly affected is Anzia
Yezierska s Bread Givers while focusing on the truth of forming an American identity. An
autobiography written by Mary Antin The Promised Land incorporates the accuracy of family
assimilation and its outcome on the identity of their children is shaped by American meritocracy...

The first stage that is introduced by Allen and Turner, is cultural assimilation as they explain,
Both English language skills and formal education represent important aspects of cultural
assimilation. At the same time, the learning of English and other cultural skills on the part of
immigrants and their progeny leads to better jobs, resulting in higher income. (141) These skills
are pressured upon Sara s transition into American culture. She s instilled in her mind to archive
a college degree as American standards required a higher education for a more successful
lifestyle. Sara portrays this cultural assimilation when she s found adhering to the culture of
wealth and appearance to express her education through the image. Yezierska emphasizes the
outcome of the achievement of the American Dream being an empowering moment for Sara.
She asserts, A triumphant sense of power filled me. Life was before me because my work was
before me. I, Sara Smolinsky, had done what I set out to do. I was now a teacher in the public
schools. And this was but my first step in the ladder of my new life. I was only at the beginning
of things. The world outside was so big and vast. Now I ll have my leisure and the quiet to go on
and on, higher and higher. (Yezierska

Catholic View On Abortion
Mormons and Catholic s both have different views on abortion. Although, they are both part of the
Christian denomination they do not have the same ethical views of abortion.
Mormons do not think abortion is ethical but do make exceptions for certain medical cases. An
article on mormon.org explains, The Church opposes abortion and counsels its members not to
submit to or perform an abortion except in the rare cases where, in the opinion of competent
medical counsel, the life or good health of the mother is seriously endangered or where the
pregnancy was caused by rape and produces serious emotional trauma in the mother. Even then it
should be done only after counseling with the local presiding priesthood authority and after

Influencing Group Communication
In any organization, a person can see the five bases of power at work, some powers more than
others depending on the individual in charge and the circumstances. The power used by such
individuals can affect communication within the organization, whether positive or negative. There
are five bases of power, being coercive, reward, legitimate, expert and personal.
Coercive power, reward power and legitimate power are all formal powers. A person s position in a
company can give him influence over others below him, thereby affording him formal power.
Coercive power is dependent on fear. A person reacts to this power out of... Show more content on

The Police Chief also has reward power in that he has the power to promote or give raises in the
department.
The Fire Safety officer in the department is a Sergeant, has been with the University 13 years,
longer than anyone else and is an expert in his field of work. Because of this, he exercises more
of the personal power, such as expert and referent power. When it comes to any information or
equipment for the Department, he is the go to guy. He has also served in a supervisory capacity
before and is second in command to eh Police Chief, as well as the event coordinator for the
Department. When he speaks on a matter, everyone for the most part listens and complies with his
directives. Because of his personality, many of the employees consider him approachable and
communicate well with him.
An example of legitimate power is exercised with the shift supervisors who consist of Sergeants
and Corporals. These ones have been given authority from the Police Chief to discipline
individuals under them on each shift or to handle petty matters. He backs these ones up on
whatever decisions are made on their shift provided it does not interfere with the policies of the
University Police Department. If problems do arise in the department, there is an open door
policy where the employees are welcome to discuss with the Chief or their immediate supervisor
so that it can be resolved as soon as possible.

In this type of integration, the software can be reused. Due to which the software development
and maintenance costs are reduced which leads to a swift development of the business
procedures. Secondly, utilization of this integration ensures user experience reliability across the
portfolio of the applications. However, the flexibility is also increased by using this business
process, as the ripple effects are reduced on a large scale when the implementation or modification
takes place. It is also efficient to use where an organization can just plug and play.
3.Please compare component based integration (synchronous) and message based integration
(asynchronous). Describe their advantages and disadvantages. [15 points]
The component based integration (synchronous) is an invoke method on the remote object as a
lined up request and response through the home interface. The implementation in this integration
takes place on the basis of a single transaction. While in a message based integration (asynchronous)
the application A communicates with application B through the messages instead of directly
conjuring its function. Hence, this integration matches the request and response model of the RPC.
In terms of advantages, in the component based integration (synchronous) the software can be
reused due to which it is cost effective. Also, the ripple effects are reduced as soon as the
alterations in the components take place.

Volcano In Iceland
Eyjafjallajökull, or translated directly to island mountain glacier is a fairly active stratovolcano
located on the south coast of Iceland. The mountain stands at about 5,400ft at its highest summit
and erupted most recently in spring of 2010. The Eyjafjallajökull eruption of 2010 was the first in
190 years. The volcanois completely covered by an ice cap and is one of around 130 volcanoes
located in Iceland, it is also one of the smallest. Previous eruptions occurred in the years 920,
1612, and 1821 1823. The 2010 eruption of the volcano began March 10, 2010 and was declared
officially over in October of the same year. This eruption caused major disruption in air travel and

Nurses Attitudes Toward Euthanasia
These variables are very important to understanding the population and addressing trends, but do
these results still stand when compared to those who work in the field? Is there proper
generalizability for these variables? The article, The Diverse Influence of Religion and World View
on Palliative Care Nurses Attitudes towards Euthanasia, addresses how a nurse s religionand
worldview effect their mindset in their career. Specifically, the researchers are studying how
religious beliefs have an impact on nurses and if so, what specific factor is the most important in
influencing these opinions. To study this correlation, the researchers gathered information from a

However, another factor could be influencing that data. It is unclear when the data from each
article analyzed was published and it could be misleading trying to compare articles from different
years; so, it is important to understand how these opinions, along with religion, have developed
over time and how they respond to one another. The article, Attitudes towards legalising physician
provided euthanasia in Britain: The role of religion over time, aims to analyze the change in support
for euthanasia over time in comparison to the change in religion and religiosity among the
population. The researchers noted that previous studies have indicated the relationships between
religiosity and denomination with negative attitudes towards physician assisted suicide and
euthanasia. To further hypothesize, the researchers concluded that an individual s opinion on these
two topics may also be swayed by their personal satisfaction with the health care system. To gather
data, the researchers used the British Social Attitudes survey. In this study, they used the years
1983, 1984, 1989, 1994, 2005, and 2012 for their analysis due to the availability of relevant
questions. A variety of question types were chosen to gauge certain variables, such as nominal for
attitudes toward physician assisted and ordinal for religion, which were separated into the

Sight Words
Name of Assignment: How I will develop sight word knowledge in my instructional programme.
Introduction
Sight words are words which are recognized on sight and do not require any analysis. Sight word
knowledge refers to the ability to recognize the pronunciation of words automatically without
conscious application of other decoding strategies (Leu and Kinzer, 1999).
One of the benchmarks of a good reader is fluency. LaBerg and Samuels, 1976 define fluency as
the process of automatically, accurately and rapidly recognizing words. It is my desire as a
teacher to produce excellent readers. The sad reality for me is that, not all students can achieve
this. As a teacher I see my task as one in which I must equip my pupils with the ... Show more

Using the words they omitted, I recorded them and made a chart in the classroom and drilled them
daily until they memorized the words.
As I reflect now on that method, I realized that being an untrained teacher, I did not see the
importance of allowing my pupils to experience these words in a reading context. Now that I have
been trained, I realize that along with teaching and drilling words in isolation, these words must be
taught in context and pupils given the opportunity to use the words in writing activities. The use of
flashcards with the words written on it is also a good tool to use along with word lists. Nicholson
(1998) suggests using flashcards to foster automaticity in word recognition and teaching children to
read words faster can improve reading comprehension dramatically.
2) The Language Experience Approach is another method I would use to teach sight words in my
instructional programme. According to Roe, Smith and Burns, (2005), page 81, the Language
Experience Approach, in which students own language is written down and used as the basis for
their reading material, is good for developing sight vocabulary. This approach provides a
meaningful context for learning sight words, and it can be used productively with individuals or
groups.
What I particularly like about this method is that pupils will play an active word in the lesson in
that it comes from

The Presidential Campaign And Obama s Administration
A key issue during the 2008 presidential campaign and Obama s administration was interest
groups and lobbyists. Obama had to deal with interest groups all throughout his presidency,
whether it was dealing with Congress or his interaction with committees. Over time interest
groups have taken on a larger and more important role in government. The interaction between
interest groups and Obama played an influential role in shaping his presidency. Special interest
groups are a group of people, usually formally organized that share a common concern and wish
to influence public policy in some way. The goal of all interest groups is to affect government
policy for themselves or to further their causes. A goal they have could be an exclusive policy
that benefits group members or one segment of society or a policy that affects a larger group such
as the public as a whole. An example of an exclusive policy is government subsidies for farmers
and an example of a larger effecting policy is improving air quality. The main method special
interest groups use to accomplish their goals is lobbying, which is trying to influence decisions
made by legislators or other government officials. Whether a government is democratic,
authoritarian, or totalitarian, interests are a dominant and permanent aspect of the political world.
Furthermore, interest groups not only play a role on the national stage, they exist at all levels of
government: national, state, provincial, and local. Interest

The Purpose Of The Cash Flow Statement
There is an old saying by Earl Wilson (2015) that states Today, there are three kinds of people: the
haves, the have nots, and the have not paid for what they haves (p. 1). This saying also applies to
businesses, and investors will try to identify which category a company falls in as they conduct
their research. Investors want to know they are committing their money to an organization that can
effectively manage its cash. Cash is the fuel within every organization. It is extremely important for
every executive, manager, and investor to understand the cash flowbattle rhythm within their
organization by utilizing the statement of cash flow. Analyzing the statement of cash flow, will
enable investors to determine if a company is effective at managing their finances.
Purpose of the Cash Flow Statement
Cash inflow and outflow is a litmus test of a company s performance during a specific time
frame. Cash is the lifeline of the company and the availability or lack of cash is a clear indication
of a successful or failing business for most financial analysts, investors and company management.
The statement of cash flow is the means used by many to view the cash movement within an
organization. According to Epstein (2014), The purpose of the statement of cash flows is to
determine how cash flowed into and out of the company during a certain period of time (p.156).
This management tool can assist executives, financial managers and stock holders identify the

Team Names In Professional Sports
Since the begging of professional sports there has been teams that use the tribe names of Native
Americans, and most people were fine with it. But recently in the past few years this has become a
more controversial topic. In 2016 NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that he is not going to
pressure the Washington Redskinsto change their teams name because, they were originally
named the redskins to honor the Native American people and their tribes. President Obama agreed
that the NFL was trying to honor the Native American people. The General Manager of the
Atlanta Braves in 2016, Alex Anthopoulos says that they will not be changing their team s name
either. But, the General Manager of the Cleveland Indians in 2017, Mike Chernoff says that their
team logo of an Native American will be changed by 2019. Overall I feel that it is not offensive
for Professional sports teams to use native american names as their team names because, it is meant
to honor the Native American people, and people are not intentionally trying to disrespect the

Redskins for sports because they believed it is racist and has a harmful meaning behind it. But
this is not the case for the Washington Redskins. Roger Goodell says that all of the players for
the Redskins know what their name means and are very proud to honor the Native people to this
day. This was just one of many examples of how Professional Sport teams are trying to honor the

  • 4. Sleep Deprivation And Childhood Deprivation Background: According to sleepfoundation.org, the average teenager (14 17 years old) should be getting approximately 8 10 hours of sleep per night and young adults (18 25) should be getting 7 9 hours of sleep ideally (Ferrara Gennaro, 2001). Getting this amount of sleep is ideal for proper growth and health in teens/young adults. However, generally speaking ask any typical High Schooler, more common in Juniors/Seniors, and they will say that their sleep schedule is nowhere close to the recommended amount (Dinges, Pack, Williams et al. 1997). This is where the issue of sleep deprivation arises. Getting under the recommended hours of sleep for your age group is generally considered sleep deprivation, however, getting under 6 hours of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since your body adjusts to a deprived state, people may not even know they are sleep deprived and how it is negatively affecting them. Alongside the cognitive performance issues is the more dangerous motor function issues, which have to do with the movements and actions of your muscles. These problems arise because when you are sleep deprived, your wake state is destabilized (Durmer Dinges 2005). Sleep deprivation increases the risk of accidents by humans to an estimated 20%. (Durmer Dinges 2005) As stated prior, being sleep deprived is considered having less than 6 hours of sleep per night and these results have been prevalent to people living busy lives. Having impaired motor functions can be especially dangerous during activities that require the person to be attentive, such as driving. Accidents that are related to sleep deprivation have been estimated to have an impact of $43 $56 billion annually (Durmer Dinges 2005). A large portion of these accidents have to do with motor vehicles all related to fatigue or general sleepiness while operating a vehicle. Alongside reduced sleep duration and prolong driving duration are all contributing facets to these statistics/facts.However, being able to get 8 9 hours of sleep can counteract this issue and inverse the effects of sleep deprivation (Durmer Dinges 2005). • 5. Oxybenzone Effects On Corals Recently, the scientific community has investigated the effects of chemicals found in sunscreen, specifically oxybenzone, on coral health. The properties of this chemical impede coral reproduction through endocrine disruption and planulae dissolution as well as promote viral infections in the symbiotic dinoflagellate found in coral. The effects of oxybenzone potentially boost coral bleaching and harm population dynamics, however before concluding what level of aggression is needed to combat oxybenzone, additional research is needed to improve our overall understanding of its impacts on specific coral species and various geographic locations. Oxybenzone contains endocrine disrupting properties that interfere with the chemical signals responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some locations, such as U.S. Virgin Islands and Hawaii, have concentrations of oxybenzone much higher than the quantities tested on corals, where other locations have much lower or even undetectable amounts (Downs, 2013). There are still many uncertainties about oxybenzone, for example if certain coral species are more sensitive to it than others or if it effects spawning and brooding corals differently. More detailed research regarding toxicological impacts of oxybenzone on corals is imperative for determining what actions are necessary to protect coral health. For now, a critical first step to minimizing the potential impacts includes informing the public about the environmental consequences of sunscreen use and suggesting alternate forms of UV protection such as rash guards, wetsuits, or sun protective clothing (McCoshum, 2016). If additional research substantiates these concerns, there may come a point for extensive and costly policies to manage the quantity of oxybenzone released into the ... • 6. Divine Comedy – Pagans in Paradise Divine Comedy Pagans in Paradise In the beginning when God created humanity, it was said that He created all humans in His image of goodness (Genesis 1:27). Dante then adds in his Divine Comedy that God has instilled a certain predetermined capacity of goodness in each human being as He wills, which should be utilized fully during life (Paradise 3:84). It would then be assumed, in Dantean thought, that all humans have the choice to live fully to this capacity and assume a place in heaven upon death, to fail to utilize this capacity and suffer in Hell for eternity, or to sin and seek repentance at some point in their lives, allowing them to enter Purgatory. Yet, this statement seems to have certain restrictions when we first look at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But upon further reading, it is evident that there are pagans in Dante s Paradise. The two examples of virtuous pagans in Heaven are Emperor Trajan of Rome and Ripheus of Troy. Ripheus was said to have been baptized after his death while in Purgatory, a thousand years before baptism existed. Emperor Trajan was supposedly brought back to life by God s sanctifying grace and was baptized in his second life (Paradise 20:106 108). Unless you believe another human being besides Jesus Christ was resurrected, this explanation of why Trajan is found in Heaven is invalid. In addition, a reason must exist why God would show so much concern for Ripheus of Troy to allow him baptism in Purgatory. Therefore, from a different angle, one must analyze what the virtuous pagans in Limbo are lacking to explain the presence of Trajan and Ripheus in Paradise. When Dante encounters these two pagans in Paradise, he immediately questions their presence. He asks the eagle of the pagans presence there and the bird replies, And to this realm none ever rose who had not faith in Christ, before or after he was crucified (Paradise 19:104 106). From this statement we are told that every soul in Heaven had faith in Christ, whether or not they had knowledge of Him. But how can you have faith in a person whom you do not know? Since it seems impossible for a human to have faith in someone they have never heard of, it can be assumed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Cardiac Cycle Is The Sequence Of Events That Occurs When... Cardiac Cycle The cardiac cycle is the sequence of events that occurs when the heart beats.(biology.about.com). There are two phases of the cardiac cycle. In the diastole phase, the heart ventricles are relaxed and the heart fills with blood. In the systole phase, the ventricles contract and pump blood to the arteries. A cardiac cycle is completed when the heartfills with blood and the blood gets pumped out of the heart. The events of the cardiac cycle described below trace the path of the blood as it enters the heart, is pumped to the lungs, travel back to the heart and is pumped out to the rest of the body. Note that the events that occur in the first and second diastole phases happen at the same time. This is also true for the events of the first and second systole phases. Cardiac Cycle: 1st Diastole Phase During the diastole phase, the atria and ventricles are relaxed and the atrioventricular valves are open. De oxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cavae flows into the right atrium. The open atrioventricular valves allow blood to pass through to the ventricles. The SA nodes contracts triggering the atria to contract. The right atrium empties its contents into the right ventricle. The tricuspid valve prevents the blood from flowing back into the right atrium. (About.com) Cardiac Cycle: 1st Systole Phase According to Richard E. K. • 9. Analysis Of The Movie Last Year Last year, the Hollywood film Noah was released. Obviously I was intrigued, so I called up my Pastor and some friends and planned to go to the cinema to see it. As many sources claimed, I can agree that this is certainly one of the least Biblical, Biblical films ever made. Of course the actual story of Noah in the bibleis not very long, so it was to be expected that the producers would add some filler Hollywood action, but how much of Noah is actually based on the text that appears in the Old Testament, and how much is fantastical movie magic? Just like the Old Testament, the film starts at the very beginning. Noah tells his children the story of creation and almost stays true to the Genesis story of creation. To begin I will explore the characters presented in the film and the original story. The movie introduces two groups of people, Lemech and Noah the good guys and Tubal Cain and his people, the evil men, who are of course descendants of Cain, which is consistent with the Old Testament. Later, the character Methuselah is introduced, Noah s grandfather. He lives on the top of a mountain and for some reason has a constant craving for berries (The Bible says nothing about this strange detail). He also seems to posses some mystical powers. Methuselah isn t mentioned much in the Bible, but he is the oldest documented person mentioned in the book. Lemech, Noah s father, is only brought up in the Bible for genealogy purposes. The movie on the other hand shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organic Food And Farming Benefits For Health Organic Food and Farming Benefits for Health To the casual shopper it may appear that one of the biggest differences between organic and non organic food can be found on the price tag, however, it is important to realize that the true cost of food is not necessarily the price listed on the price tag. Looking more into the quality, how its made and where the food comes from, is beneficial in our choice of the food we pick. Picking organic food have become ever so popular. Organic food is grown or raised using little or no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Instead, organic farmers try to work with natural processes to promote the health of their crops and livestock. For example, an organic farmer might apply compost (decaying plant material) instead of chemical fertilizer to replenish the soil. Instead of using pesticides, the farmer may rely on natural predators to control insect pests. (Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia) Some people choose organic food because they prefer the taste. But there are many more factors that influence the decision to choose organic food. One of the factors include that: Organic foods are produced without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). This entire topic of GMO s is a rather important topic in of itself, but going on briefly about what it is, will help understand it better. • 12. The Three Approachs Of The Three Theories Of Communication 1.Though persuasion skills seem intangible and only possessed by a few lucky individuals, they can actually be broken down into techniques. Three of these approaches, the principles of liking, authority, and social proof, can be explained by three theories of communication. Elaboration Likelihood Theory states that when one processes a message critically, through the central route, it is more likely for that message to change one s belief and behavior, whereas if the message is processed superficially, through the peripheral route, there will only be a short term attitude modification. There is a higher level of elaboration, or the degree to which a person assesses a piece of information closely, when the person feels fondly towards the persuader because people have a higher likelihood of paying attention to individuals they like. They are more likely to comply and wish to please. Theory of Reasoned Action explains that the manner in which one acts is affected by one s attitude about the behavior, in addition to one s beliefs about subjective norms (how other people want one to act). The principle of authority works with this theory because people are more likely to obey and believe someone who has power over them. Experts are believed because they have more information than the person, and can morph the subjective norm, as well as an individual s own attitude about a behavior. Throughout West Virginia, everyone agreed there was a large amount of air pollution from coal mines. These air pollutants were so bad in the 1990s that the Clean Air Act was enacted. However, this act had unforeseen consequences of its own. Coal companies began to need much more readily available coal. So, they mined coal that was closer to the surface by using mountaintop removal. This resulted in a decrease in jobs for miners because this was a much easier and efficient way of removing coal. • 16. Special Education And The Civil Rights Movement Special education is a relatively new concept in education. The question is why? Although, the Federal Government required all children to attend school since 1918, this did not apply to students with disabilities. Many state laws gave school districts the ability to deny access to individuals they deem uneducable. The term uneducable varied from state to state, schoolto school, and even individual to individual. If students were accepted into the school, they were placed in regular classrooms with their peers with no support or in classrooms that were not appropriate to meet their needs. This started to change with the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The lawsuit Brown vs the Board of Educationsued to end segregation of public schools laid the ground work for Individuals with Disabilities Act. The next major impact in education was the enactment of Elementary and Secondary Act signed into effect by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The purpose of this law was to provide fair and equal access to education for all, established higher standards, and mandated funds for professional development, resources for support education programs, and parent involvement. Under this law, programs like Head Start were created and celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Despite additional federal funds and mandatory laws, children with disabilities were unserved or underserved by public school due to loop holes with in the law. Heroin can reach the brain by methods of injection, nasal inhalation, or smoked. In our brain there are many receptor sites, each site specific for different neurotransmitters. In this paper I will refer to the opiate receptor. Naturally, our brain is responsible for making endorphins, a natural opiate of the body. These endorphins are the feel good chemical sensations in the brain, when we are exposed to pain or stress. Heroinmimics the opium chemical, creating the effect of pleasure and euphoric feelings. The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back to morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors, specifically in the brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for life, like blood pressure, arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live; heroin use and overdose can then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as suppression of breathing (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly affects our processes of living, it also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the feeling of heroin as a euphoric or rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where the actual high lasts hours. Other sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and depression, safe and warm feelings, and pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations, it also changes motor functions, such as reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested reaction times in heroin abusers of different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two groups, one control and the other heroin dependent currently in a withdrawal period; researchers choose participants specifically on certain guidelines. The tanning services being offered are often found on or near college campus s. While this may passively reinforce tanning and harmful nature, as a salon business owner I would put aside the unethical choices, and make decisions in what is best for marketing choices. As I see it promoting this near campus tanning salon movement and using demographic techniques can affect the salon marketing industry in both good and bad ways. Even though I may not agree with teenage tanning, I feel that by using this marketing tactic the sales forecast will plummet. Commodus was cruel and chaotic because he killed things for fun. Another reason is Commodus started the fall of the roman empire(an extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme authority, formerly especially an emperor or empress). One last reason that Commoduswas cruel and chaotic is that he would fight as a gladiatorin the Colosseum. However, one of the most prominent and rapidly changing movements in the past year, 2015, has been the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movement, the advocacy for equal rights between heterosexual and LGBT individuals. In this year, the LGBT movement made many crucial achievements. Starting off the year, in February of 2015, the Human Rights Campaign began a movement named the People s Brief. The purpose of this campaign was to gain nationwide support for the LGBT movement. The group ended up gaining over 200,000 signatures which was many more signatures than any other brief ever given to the Supreme Court. The transgenderside of the LGBT movement also had major successes in 2015. After Caitlyn Jenner came out, the movement changed drastically. It sparked many transgender people to come out to the media and discuss the inequalities and violence that trans people face in society. However, perhaps the most important victory for the LGBT was the legalizing of gay marriage across the country. This event happened on June 26, 2015 when the supreme court declared that denying two people the right to marry, regardless of gender, is unconstitutional. One of the benchmarks of a good reader is fluency. LaBerg and Samuels, 1976 define fluency as the process of automatically, accurately and rapidly recognizing words. Now that I have been trained, I realize that along with teaching and drilling words in isolation, these words must be taught in context and pupils given the opportunity to use the words in writing activities. The use of flashcards with the words written on it is also a good tool to use along with word lists. Special interest groups are a group of people, usually formally organized that share a common concern and wish to influence public policy in some way. The goal of all interest groups is to affect government policy for themselves or to further their causes. A goal they have could be an exclusive policy that benefits group members or one segment of society or a policy that affects a larger group such as the public as a whole.
