Cost Benefit Analysis Essay
COST‐BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF AN RFID ASSET TRACKING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
This paper outlines the cost‐benefit analysis of using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in an asset‐tracking application. To facilitate the
analysis, RFID will be compared against the incumbent technology, bar‐coding. An experiment
comparing these two technologies was conducted, and the findings from this experiment are further
analysed.

With a time saving of 90.82%, RFID proves its time and cost savings while performing asset
inventories.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
In order to clarify what savings RFID can provide for an organisation currently utilizing
outdated, inefficient logistics technologies, these time savings should be used, along with some
general assumptions, to project indicative cost savings. To facilitate analysis of the labour cost
savings associated to implementing RFID processes to an asset tracking context, the life cycle of
a typical asset is considered. The different types of assets and their individual characteristics are
ignored to simplify the analysis. In order for this document to provide useful figures for a wider
range of customers, a basic logistics department with varying asset levels and traffic will be
analysed. Some general assumptions are listed: пѓ Average warehouse worker works a 38 hour
week and earns a $60,000AU salary. пѓ Number of assets to be tracked: o 10,000 o 20,000 o
50,000 o 100,000 пѓ Each tagged asset follows an assumed asset life cycle. Numbers of reads

Essay Skylock in ShakespeareВґs Merchant of Venice Villian
One of the earliest idioms taught to students of all ages is Don t judge a book by its cover.
Oftentimes, a quote like that can easily be disregarded, however, it is applicable to people who
aren t always who they seem to be. Shakespeare s play the Merchant of Venice is an outstanding
work that contains a very strange villain in Shylock, who is hated by all, although he has not
wronged them in the past. Thusly, his habits and personality evolved from his interactions with the
Venetian populous. By examining the changes Shylock displays in tone, Shylock the villain s
motivations can be seen and ultimately display that no matter how twisted a person is or may seem,
the motivations behind their actions indicate that innately they have a... Show more content on

This correlates almost directly to how most of the other major characters of Merchant of Venice
also treat him (e.g. Antonio). However, as is with most cases, there are two sides to each story.
To understand the motivation behind Shylock s obsession with money, the beginning of the play
has to be referenced. In Shylock s negotiations with Bassanio and Antonio, Shylock recalls,
Signior Antonio, many a time and oft in the Rialto you have rated me about my moneys and my
usances... You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog and spet upon my Jewish gabardine... You called
me dog; and for these courtesies I ll lend you thus much moneys? (1.3.104 126). From this
passage, Shylock s motivations are presented clearly. He loathes Antonio for how poorly he has
treated him in the past, insulting both his character and his religion. Therefore, the motivating
factor in lending money to Bassanio is so Shylock has the ability to hold some form of power over
Antonio. Therein lies the key to Shylock s obsession with wealth. In the referenced Venetian
culture, Jewish people were persecuted for their religion and were branded unsavory by the
predominantly Christian community. Shylock, being ridiculed and domineered his whole life by
his Christian counterparts, saw an opportunity to finally even the odds and jumped at it. Shylock
clings onto his wealth because it is the only thing that gives him power in Venetian

Philippines have always been a target of tropical cyclones and calamities.
And let s admit it; we are not always ready when it comes to disasters. Resources are scarce when
we need it. Fortunately, we Filipinos have a knack of being street smart and resourceful. We can

plasticity and harden when fired or dried; they also may contain variable amounts of water trapped
in the mineral structure by polar attraction.

Review Of Related Literature
The Baghdad battery was the foundation of this project and Baghdad batteries were built by
Ancient Parathions. There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions were able to use it since
there were no wires found for the electric current to flow. The battery is composed of a clay pot, a
copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay,
there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that
the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the
copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering includes
charcoal and wood sand as an alternative helping increase electric current by 2 volts. (Source: http:/

Vacation In Myrtle Beach Essay examples
Last summer my friends and I packed up and took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The
excitement of the strip and the relaxation of the beach allured me to this particular vacation spot. If
you are looking for an entertaining and relaxing way to spend the hot days of summer, Myrtle
Beach has plenty to offer.
Myrtle Beach stretches up the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina. The drive takes
approximately six hours from East Tennessee State University. Our trip during the summer made
for a great vacation, the temperature stayed between the 80 s and 90 s, perfect sun tanning weather.
The friendly smiles and southern hospitality mixed well with the warm climate.

Myrtle Beach has many hotels and resorts to chose from. Most of them sit either right on the
beach or across the street. The rates usually run weekly from Sunday to Saturday. A week s stay
always gives me enough time to do and see all I want. The inexpensive hotels, as stated earlier, can
be found on the strip. These hotels normally run about $180 a week for a room with two double
beds. The resort areas, however, cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I
recommend the place that I stayed when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an
oceanfront view, two pools, a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant. Wherever you decide to stay you
are sure to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Myrtle Beach.
Restaurants in Myrtle Beach appear almost as plentiful as the hotels. Where you eat may depend
on how much money you want to spend. My friends and I, as typical college students, did not
have much money to spend. So we ate at the local fast food restaurants, such as, Burger King,
Taco Bell and McDonalds, for the majority of the trip. We found, however, that the River City
CafГ© had good food for a great price. If you would like to eat a more cordial dinner, the Calabash
Seafood restaurant has sensational seafood entrГ©e s.
With all the hotels nestled along the coast, the most obvious attraction is the beach itself. The
beautiful water and clean beach makes for a

Anticancer Properties of Piper Betle Leaves Active Compounds
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the world (World Cancer Research Fund
International). Colostomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and biological therapy are among the most
common treatment for colorectal cancer. These treatments may be used by itself or in combination.
One of the most commonly used drugs for the treatment of colorectal canceris 5 fluorouracil (5 FU).
5 FU is a cell cycle specific, S phase dependent fluorinated pyrimidine analogue (Yim, et al., 2006).
Due to its short biological half life, it is always used in combination with other drugs to enhance its
drug effect. However, toxicity and drug resistance often occurred in anticancer drugs combination

2011). Hence, in this study, we will test the effect of both PBL and active compounds combined
5FU on colon cancer cells. Although experiments have demonstrated the chemoprotective effect
of PBL; however how it exerts its anticarcinogenic potential is not well understood. We proposed
to use proteomic approach to determine the possible mechanism(s) of PBL active compounds in
enhancing the anticancer effect of 5 FU. Proteomic approach is able to profile the overall protein
expression in colon cancer cells during PBL 5 FU induced cell death and will effectively reveal the
possible mechanism(s) of action.
2.Objectives
2.1.To isolate the active compounds from PBL extract
2.2.To investigate the potential anticancer effect of the active compounds on HT29 colon cancer
cells.
2.3.To investigate the effect of the combination of anticancer drug 5 fluorouracil and PB leaves
active compounds on HT29.
2.4.To identify changes in protein expression stimulated by 5 fluorouracil and PB leaves active
compounds combination treatment and investigate the possible mechanism of actions by using top

A Report On Mobile Technology
Mobility is no longer optional in today s world; most enterprises are adopting mobile first
strategies to provide real time information and interactivity to consumers or employees on the
go. Enterprise mobility has seen increased popularity in the last few years, bringing in with it the
growing trend of Bring your own device (BYOD). While BYOD has a host of merits like
increased productivity, better connectivity and less expenditure for enterprises, but there are
security risks involved. This is where mobile management comes into the picture. It is generally
an administrative system and service that is used to encrypt and lock the device, and enforce
miscellaneous other BYOD policies. Schneider Electric BYOD policy is implemented through
Airwatch Mobile Device Management (MDM). Although BYOD adoption is continuously
increasing, only 1 percent of Schneider Electric employees have opted for BYOD enrollment on
their personal mobile devices until now. The major factors contributing to low adoption of
BYOD are the concerns and uncertainties around user activity tracking, logging and potential
loss or leakage of personal data. Moreover, the current BYOD deployment does not support a
large variety of popular mobile devices. Due to this, the adoption and usage of mobile applications
via the Internal App Store is also quite low. However, the current BYOD program is geared
towards addressing the enterprise data security concerns, which obviously has merits, and cannot be
overlooked

Piaget’S Cognitive Developmental Theory States That Children
Piaget s Cognitive Developmental Theory states that children go through four stages of cognitive
development as they actively construct their understanding of the world. Stage one of this theory,
or the sensorimotor stage, infants of the age newborn through two years construct an
understanding of the world by sensory skills (hearing and seeing) with physical actions. This for
example could be a simple game of peak a boo. Skye, the infant in the video clip, giggles at his
mother playing the game. According to Piaget s theory, young infants do not know what happens
when object go out of sight. During the first year, infants learn that objects have life of their own,
even when not visible. This is known as object permanence. Mya knew to look... Show more

When asking the child which has more, she counted and stated that they were the same. When
spreading out the quarters in only one row, making it look like there was more in it than the
other, the child states as observed; the row with the more spread out quarters has more. This is
because one row was longer than the other. The final experiment consisted of Graham crackers.
The young girl was handed one cracker while the adult had two. The girl did not think it was very
fair for the adult to have more. When her cracker was cut in half, she instantly believed she had
the same amount and was content. These experiences were an excellent example of this stage. It
would take an older child to realize it was the same amounts. Children in this experiment was going
by what they saw.
During stage three, or the concrete operational stage, children can now reason logically about
concrete events and classify objects into different sets. This stage consists of children who are
older in age. These children are between the ages of seven and eleven. Concrete operational
thinkers though cannot image the steps needed to complete a math equation. This is because it
would require a level of thinking that is too nonconcrete for this stage of development. An example
of this stage uses the same experiment in stage two with the liquids, which I believe is easy to
understand because it is already been experimented with just at a

Egypt Culture Vs American Culture
People say that for a person to know where they are going, they have to know where they came
from. To be culturally aware of people outside of your native land, you cannot only study the
people s present state, but you also have to study their past. Learning and understanding the
similarities and differences of other cultures, not only makes us stronger as Americans, but it also
makes the world stronger. This paper addresses Egypts history, present culture and customs, and
explains their military capabilities. To begin with, Egypt has a rich history. Egypt is one of the

Earthworms And Organic Fertilizers
The radish is an edible root vegetable of the Brassicaceae family. Radishes are great plants for
demonstrating the effects of different levels of plant nutrition, germinating and growing quickly
and reliably. Radish plants take up nutrients from the soil to make food. Soil is rich in essential
nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium; but these nutrients are sometimes not
present in the acceptable amount. Nitrogen is vital because it is a major component of chlorophyll,
which is the compound by which plants use in photosynthesis. It is also a major component of amino
acids and without them plants withers and die. Phosphorus is a component of the complex nucleic
acid structure of plants, which regulates protein synthesis and the... Show more content on

We came to the conclusion that the combination of earthworms and organic fertilizer did not
have an effect on the average growth of radish plants. We did a t test to see if there is a
statistically significant difference (at the О±=0.05 level) between the average growth of radish
plants grown with the organic fertilizer and worms treatment compared to average growth of
radish plants grown with only soil, earthworms with soil, or only organic fertilizer treatments.
Since, all p values were more than the alpha level, the results tell us that there is no significant

The Discourse Of Shakespeare s Hamlet ( Rough Draft )
The Discourse of Dance in Shakespeare s Hamlet (Rough Draft)
Alan Brissenden, a noted dance critic and Shakespearean scholar, asserts that when Shakespeare
uses dance it always contributes to plot, character, or imagery, and sometimes to all of these at one
time ( Jacobean 249). In the comedies, dance is used in the first few acts of the play to create an
atmosphere of dramatic irony: dance, in its fundamental purpose in the Elizabethan and Jacobean
theater was to create a sense of harmony and goodwill; when paired with the plot of a tragedy,
dance stands in stark contrast to the discord of the final acts. Dance, therefore, makes a
dramatically relevant comment on the action to follow (Shakespeare 75). Though extensively
covered by academic discourse, little research has been conducted concerning the use of dance and
dance imagery in Hamlet. Shakespeare uses the discourse of dance and clowning to define Hamlet
s character. Dance does not inform the action, but rather informs the inaction. It defines Hamlet s
state of mind and his lack of desire to escape his melancholy. Dance is a means through which he
criticizes others, criticism which draws these characters into his own madness.
During the Early Modern period, dance had many uses; it was considered a form of medicine, a
sign of religious exaltation, and a social necessity. Dance was a popular form of exercise and
hygiene, keeping the humors in balance and promoting good health much like hunting, walking,

Star Wars Hero s Journey Analysis
In 1977 an amazing, adventure filled, science fiction film was released by director George
Lucas, starting one to many obsessions called Star Wars. It was the first of many episodes to
come, they named it Episode 4 A New Hope. In the beginning it shows the Rebel forces being
attacked by the Empire on a spaceship to receive plans that the Rebels have came up with. A
princess whose name is Leia was in a hurry to make sure they do not take the plans so she puts
them, and a recording of her explaining what they are, in a little robot names R2D2; she then puts
him and his robot friend C3PO on an escape pod and blasts them out of the spaceship which gets

There are ten steps of the journey, and they are all very important to shaping the hero, the steps
are: conscious realm, unconscious realm, the call, departure, threshold, task tribulator trial,
transformation of consciousness, ritual, and return. The first step is in the conscious realm, which
is presented by Luke being on his home planet or land. It will transfer over to the unconscious
realm as the second step ,when Luke and his friends leave land on a spaceship and starts traveling
in space to the Death Star. Next is the calls, usually there is just one but in Star Warsthere is a mini
call and a major call. The mini call is Luke cleaning up R2D2 and find the plans that Leia sent to
go to Obiwon. Luke thinks she is beautiful and she is a princess so he wants to do something that
can help save her. The major call is after Obi Wan, or Ben, saved Luke the plans is presented to
him, Obi Wan wants Luke to help him save the princess, Luke declines his offer because he can t
leave his Aunt and Uncle. After the call is the departure which is Luke, Ben, Han Solo,
Chewbacca, C3PO and R2D2 trying to leave the planet in a hurry on a spaceship but the storm
troopers is trying to prevent them from leaving because they want R2D2. Eventually, they beat
them and was able to leave and enter into space somewhat safely, getting past the threshold. The
tasks are saving Leighia, getting away and out if the Death Star, escaping the Empires
spaceships; which he did very heroically. The tribulator is his mentor, Obi Wan, dying and with
him losing so many people in few days it helps the trial come very easily. Now the trial is Luke
becoming a fighter pilot for the Rebel forces to destroy the Death Star. Now the most important part
is the transformation of consciousness, because it is usually at the climax and the changing point of
the hero. The representation of this is when Luke stops using

The Difference Between Race And Racial Identity In The...
Introduction Racial identity is a part of a socially constructed hierarchy that identifies human beings
based on their ethnicity and ancestry. Essentially, the only difference between race and ethnicity is
that race is determined by the dominant ethnicity. Race has been a relevant topic throughout
history, and racial conflicts still exist in the modern world. Judgements based on racial identity
create prejudice and bigotry. The susceptibility of people to believe others predispositions is what
causes prejudice and bigotry to grow. Racial identity has inhibited individuals opportunities for
centuries due to predispositions formed from a lack of credible knowledge.
Perspective: African American
African Americans have been perceived as inferior for centuries due to their race. African
discrimination began with the Atlantic slave trade. Europeans bought Africans for the purpose of
using them as slaves in the New World. According to the BBC, more than a million enslaved
Africans died during just their transport to the Americas. Patrick Manning, a former Trinidad
politician, estimated that ten million Africans entered the New World as slaves from 1500 1900.
This early practice of discrimination encouraged the formation of later eras. The Atlantic slave trade
took the right to life away from the Africans and took away their opportunities to experience the
culture of their homeland. This inhibition was a direct cause for the lack of development seen in
Africa throughout its

you can get assistance in monetary terms? Are you getting confused as to what option to choose?
Without thinking much, you can go for installment loans . By going with this monetary service, the
borrower can get hold of immediate cash support for small needs. The nature of this facility is short

can pay the medical bills, can pay installments of the credit card, can throw a party and so on. Put
into use the free of cost and no obligation online application form for immediate loans , which

Case Hardening Methods
Case hardening crucial for steel components that are subjected to severe or continuous impacts,
high temperatures and high pressures. It is a heat treatment process that produces the required
attributes of a hard, wear and fatigue resistant surface layer whilst maintaining a tough, durable core
that allows for high stress situations. These properties are achieved by altering the chemical,
metallurgical and physical properties of the components exterior without affecting its more ductile
interior. For gears, case hardening is required to prevent pitting and deformation of the gears teeth
under cyclic stresses. This method is preferred to through hardening, which is the uniform
hardening of the entire component, as hardened metal is relatively less ductile and although strong,
would not offer the same degree of toughness desired at its core.
There are several different case hardening techniques used in the manufacturing industry. The
different methods determine which physical properties, (such as surface hardness, strength,
ductility, case depth and wear resistance) the component gets. This can be done by altering
temperatures, heat source, time period, and quench media.
Carburising
This is a diffusion based process used on low carbon or mild steels where a component is subjected
to thermochemical phases. The component is packed in a carbon rich environment at high

A Brief Note On Justice And Environmental Cleanup

Justice Through Environmental Cleanup
I belong to a proud people called the Ogoni people. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in
the Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does
this matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental
degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine
their destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907
when the Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where
people were living. This caused oil spills and polluted the water and land that was used to
produce fruits and vegetables. Nigeria also allowed these practices to go on because a lot of
Nigeria s wealth came from oil. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to
get rid of the Ogoni so that they can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the
help of Shell and the Nigerian government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles.
My dad came here as a refugee and I was born here. While many see that some parts of the world
are doing fairly well and operate in a democracy, I believe that we as a world community should
rally behind human rights and address the degradation and devastation that has plagued the Ogoni
community and other indigenous

Airway Pressure Release Ventilation ( Aprv )
WHAT IS APRV? Airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) is a fairly new mode of
ventilation, just becoming available in the U.S. in the mid 1990 s. APRV is inverse ratio,
pressure controlled, intermittent mandatory ventilation with unrestricted spontaneous breathing
and it is based on the principle of open lung approach . (Daoud, Farag, Chatburn, 2012) The open
lung approach is concept of maximizing and maintaining alveolar recruitment throughout the
ventilatory cycle by potentially ventilating the lung on the steep portion of the pressure volume
curve, thus avoiding over distention on inspiration and alveolar collapse on exhalation . (2012)
APRV was first used and described in 1987 as CPAP with an intermittent pressure release phase.
Continuous airway pressure is applied to maintain adequate lung volume and improve alveolar
recruitment. It is a pressure limited, time cycled, volume variable mode of ventilation. (2012)
This time cycled release phase allow for CO2 removal and keep the alveoli inflated at the
inspiratory pressure for most of the respiratory cycle , allowing for a higher mean airway pressure
at lower peak airway pressures. APRV produces similar or improved oxygenation with lower peak
airway pressures with no significant hemodynamic effects compared with alternative modes of
ventilation in neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations. (Kenny, et al., 2011) The Respiratory Care
Journal (2012) stated that the primary goals of this mode were to

Impact of Culture on Virginia Politics A culture can be defined as a way of life of a group of
people their behaviors, beliefs, values that are passed along by communication and imitation from
one generation to the next. It also includes the customs, arts, literature, morals/values and traditions

Some of the largest employers, however, are federal agencies. The Pentagon is the most famous
of these, but military bases like those at Quantico and Fort Belvoir make Virginia home to more
active military than any other state in the nation (Liberty of Virginia). The Culture of Virginia
refers to the distinct human activities and values that take place in, or originate from the
Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia Culture). Virginia was named for Queen Elizabeth I of
England, who was known as the Virgin Queen. Historians think the English adventurer Sir
Walter Raleigh suggested the name about 1584. That same year, Elizabeth gave Raleigh
permission to colonize the Virginia region (Liberty of Virginia). Virginia has many nicknames as
well. The most popular and lasting of Virginia s many nicknames is the Old Dominion .
Unfortunately, I am not referring to the university. This nickname refers to Virginia s status as
England s oldest colony in the Americas. Virginia is considered a commonwealth because it is a
state in which the supreme power is vested in the people. According to the Hornbook of Virginia
History, The term as an official designation was first used in Virginia during the Interregnum
(1649 1660), the period between the reigns of Charles I and Charles II during which parliament s
Oliver Cromwell as Lord Protector established a republican government known as the

Use Of Stereotypes In Stephenie Meyer s Twilight
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer follows Bella Swan through her romance with the vampire Edward
Cullen. However, the novel is extremely harmful, especially to its young adult audience. Twilight s
use of sexist stereotypes for its main characters and the portrayal of them as ideal makes it
necessary to censor. From the first chapter of Twilight, Bella Swanis placed into the traditional
stereotype of a damsel in distress. In this stereotype, the woman is a delicate beauty. Bella fits
this description, as she says that she is ivory skinned...I had always been slender, but soft
somehow (Meyer 10). However, Bella being the delicate beauty means that, she is therefore seen
by men as an object to be conquered. For example, a boy named Tyler asks Bella to go to a school

He, on the outside, is Bella s knight in shining armor, even driving a shiny Volvo (Meyer 14). He
is handsome, rich, a perfect prince for the delicate princess Bella. However, Edward is really far
from being the hero . Putting aside the fact that he is a vampire, Edward is nothing more than a
controlling, insulting, obsessive man. For example, Bella walking in the direction of her car
after Edward rescues her, when something caught my jacket, yanking me back. Where do you
think you re going? he asked, outraged. He was gripping a fistful of my jacket in one hand
(Meyer 103). Edward doesn t stop, but pushes, forces and even commands Bella into his car. He
even goes as far as threatening to just drag you back , should she attempt to escape (Meyer 104).
So, what does Bella do, she simply goes along with this (Meyer 105). This brutal force of will
comes from a character that is supposed to every teen girls crush . This twisted version of an ideal
guy, only strengthens the book s sexist implication that a woman is nothing more than an object
that must be controlled by a man, to young impressible teen

Dorothy Day Research Paper
Courage is a cardinal virtue every human being needs. Courage is doing something frightening
you are for the right being even if you are alone in your belief. Many regular humans have used
courage also. For example Dr. Martin Luther King jr. stood up for all African Americans, even
though almost everyone did not agree with him. He eventually helped end segregation by
raising awareness. Sadly, Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was killed just for his beliefs. Today we
celebrate a holiday for his great bravery. Bravery is a synonym of courage. Almost all saints in their
life have shown courage. One saint that had courage was Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis was
a rich man, however he ignored all his money for God. He gave up his wealthy life just for his
savior. Saint Francis would help sick people just like how Jesusdid. He would approach Lepore s
even if people thought he was crazy. Saint Francis of Assisi was a brave soldier in the army,
having no fear knowing that God was present with him. Saint Maximilian Kolbe had a vision of
Mary and she was holding two crowns, and he had to choose one. Later on his his life he was...

Essay On MГ©tis Culture
The Recognition of MГ©tis Culture and Rights through Existing Legislation
Nobody deserves to be a nobody : unrecognized and unappreciated for their uniqueness. This is the
reason why throughout history, Canada has been working to make sure that the MГ©tis are not
nobodies . Canada has provided enough recognition for MГ©tis culture and rights through existing
legislation. Historically, the Canadian government, or Dominion of Canada, has acted upon efforts
to protect MГ©tis land through legislation. Furthermore, MГ©tis inherent rights to land, hunting,
fishing and autonomy have been met with current and improved legislation. The MГ©tis are now

This was established first in Section 35 of the Constitution. Previously, the MГ©tis were not
recognized as Aboriginals and were instead called half breeds , so they did not have the same rights
given to them through treaties (such as the Indian Act and the Numbered Treaties). Even
throughout the world, Canada is the only country to recognize a biracial group, and to give them
rights as Aboriginal peoples. Without Section 35, it was easy for the MГ©tis to be assimilated, and
the transfer of constitutional powers from Britain to Canada threatened their legal identity and
rights established in previous acts. Recognition from the Dominion of Canada preserved MГ©tis
culture, lest it fade away. Section 35 marked the biggest change of attitude towards Aboriginals,
especially MГ©tis, from the government. Furthermore, it affirmed their collective rights that were
given through previous legislation such as the Manitoba Act. Finally, Section 35 helps to uphold
Aboriginal rights in legal cases, so that the MГ©tis have the power to advocate for their own rights
and freedoms. MГ©tis rights are enshrined and protected through Section

to attack after the United States because the Japanese wanted oil.
A third reason for the attack was a new world order. New world order is an idea where Japan will

did this because the US moved the Navy took off resources. Also in document B it mentions that
Japan is more interested in seizing all oil fields and the only way to do what they had to do was
by invading the Netherland East Indies and they did after the Pearl Harbor Bombing. A new
world order caused the Japanese to attack because the US expanded the navy and stopped oil

Essay on Metaphors in Master Harold ... and the Boys
18 January 2012
Metaphors in Master Harold ... and the boys Master Harold ... and the boys, is a powerful play
written by Athol Fugard that allows us to analyze the complex relationship between a black man
and a young white boy within the context of racism in South Africa in the 1950 s. This play is
characterized by metaphors used by the author to illustrate the struggle of people dealing with
racism. One of the most important themes of this play is racism, focusing on the injustice in South
Africa when the apartheid system was in place. Racial segregation and separation in this time in
history demonstrates to us how this system allowed unequal rights for whites and blacks. There is

Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl
As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as
family members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and
when that family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human.
However, some individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same
emotional response to their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a petis a memorable experience for
most people. In John Updike s Dogs Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have
just lost a pet; and although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets
departure do not completely align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as
well distinguish their differences. Both of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet
and the speakers play by play of how that day unfolded. These poems are memories and are not
written in the present which means the speakers are sharing their memories through their own
reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are in words that end in ed in the first
sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and line 1 pg 636). In Updike s

A Church Not Meant for Prayers
A church not meant for prayers
Glasgow is well known for being an inventive city, and so is its architecture. Electing the best of the
city is not only a matter of beauty, it has to embrace all the characteristics that makes something
Glaswegian: history, creativity, beauty and also a little alcohol. That s the reason that after
extensive research the chosen building to represent Glasgow s success is the Oran Mor pub.
But why choose a pub among hundreds in the city? What makes it so special? It shows in its
essence the spirit of the Glaswegians, it s part of the history and now it works providing a good
time (and drinks) to the population.
The former Kelvinside Parish Church was built in 1862 by J.J. Stevenson (Campbel, Douglas
and Stevenson). It started with the moves of John Blackie, a publisher and writer. He knew that
a residential development was about to take place west of Kelvinbridge, an area that was
receiving lots of attention after the University of Glasgow moved to Gillmore Hill, and new
people were about to move in. These people would need a place to worship and to keep their
spiritual well being. In a meeting with members of the Free Church of Glasgow it was decided
that a new temple should be built. Soon the lands at the cross of Byres Road and Great Western
Road were secured for the church. The foundation stone was laid on the 4th of September of 1862
by John Blackie. The final cost was almost two times the initial budget for the building (fig. I).

The Ancient Greeks And The Ancient Greek Sculptures
In about c.580 BCE the Kouros (Youth) was created. This is a sculpture of a Greek God standing
in the frontal position with one foot pointed forward and the hips still straight. This shows a godly
position because realistically humans cannot stand like this. This is very important because for the
Greeks to mimic the Ancient Egyptian sculpting styles you can see that they are trying to make a
statement. They are trying to expand the footprint of the art of the Ancient Egyptians. They
specifically followed the stance and facial expressions of the sculptures which we see now as a
Godly stance because humans cannot physically stand the way that they are standing. The
resemblance between the Ancient Greek and the Ancient Egyptian sculptures is very important
because the Egyptian Pharaohs are known as Demi Gods and the Ancient Greek were showing
themselves as Gods in their Sculptures. In the Kuros from Tenea head you can see that they mouth
has a smile to it. This is something new to us. We did not see a smile in these types of sculptures
for a long time. This is very important because the Greeks are straying away from the Egyptian
sculptures and becoming more human. The smile shows more human features which means that
they are evolving their way of making art into something new and innovative. As the Greeks
sculptures evolve they become more and more human in ways. The more the Greeks evolve, the

Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death
A public disclosure, if properly executed, is used to introduce an issue in society and address the
problems with that specific problem. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death,
successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary society in the form of a public
disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques to support his claims. Neil Postman s
novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written to inform the modern day society as to how media,
specifically television, has negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person
virtually powerless and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of
Aldous Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people are
too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that they are virtually
powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd page of Foreword). We, as a
society, love television. We watch it when we are bored, when we are tired, and even keep it on
when conversations are being had as background noise. Needless to say we love it. Postman uses
this quote to show that television, something that we love, is distracting... Show more content on

Everything comes with negatives. But it is much later in the game now, and ignorance of the score
is inexcusable. To be unaware that a technology comes equipped with a program for social change,
to maintain that technology is neutral, to make the assumption that technology is always a friend
to culture is, at this late hour, stupidity plain and simple (Chapter 11 Page 5). It is extremely
important to acknowledge and understand that technology can drastically change a society. For the
purpose of this essay the technology is television and the change is our culture valuing entertainment
over substance, which is turning us into a nation who sits back and lets people run the country the

Main Theme Of Death Of A Salesman
Death of a Salesman was performed by the first time in 1949 and since then it has been
considered one of the most important of American plays. It was awarded in 1949 Pulitzer Prize
for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. The play is a challenge to the American dream which
since the Civil War ( and to be more precise since 1900) has become the dream of business
success. Horatio Alger s characters and from rags to riches narration of his stories rooted the myth
of success in American characterand souls of millions of Americans. Miller wrote his play few
years after the end of the Second World War: in times of rising power of capitalism and
consumerism in America. The famous slogan of those times was saying: freedom to work, freedom

One of the characters in the film Roslyn says: Maybe all there really is, is just the next thing.
The next thing that happens. Maybe you re not supposed to remember anybody s promises. I
believe that there is a link between Death of a Salesman and The Misfits. Both works at the end
are filled with deep sadness, loneliness, and grief of people who lost their dreams and realized
that the faith is those dreams and hard work are not enough. Maybe you re not supposed to
remember anybody s promises sounds like Maybe you re not supposed to remember dreams of
the past . As children grow up and crash into the hard wall of reality Miller s characters are
grown ups who finally find out the truth. Death of a Salesman is a play of death of the American
dream and faith in from rags to riches narration: that all are equal and the only thing that matters
is hard work. The character of Willy s son, Biff represents the awareness, the harsh truth that not
everyone can (and will succeed) and he understands his place in society. The key to the play s
power and success is that we (as readers and viewers) can feel what the characters are
experiencing because we have all been there in one form or another. We all have dreams that has

before. It was providential I was accepted and completed training in Music Thanatology through
Lane Community College. The two year instructional course provided me with the opportunity to
examine closely my personal life, disclosing more of my genuine self and the journey that has been
presented to me. This period of reflection has facilitated a better understanding of my purposeand

I can see with more clarity, the pieces of my life fitting nicely together, coalescing the past to the

challenging and difficult to understand were all vital factors in the overall scheme and part of the

How Did John Stuart Mill Influence Australian Innovation
Millian Innovation: The Applicability of the Teachings of John Stuart Mill to the Australian
Innovation Crisis John Stuart Mill was one of the foremost economists of the nineteenth century
and his teachings are still highly applicable to the issues faced by modern society. Mill had been
raised strongly utilitarian and he implemented this belief throughout his life, supplementing it with
libertarian and pro educational tendencies. His fundamental tendencies can be applied to the issues
facing innovation in Australia today, such as inappropriate government funding, poor provision of
education and equality and a lack of individual libertyand opportunity for collaboration. By
applying a Millian perspective to the issue of Australian innovation, strong policy recommendations
can be reached which encourage greater individual liberties and more accessibility to government
sponsored services which, in turn, serve to stimulate greater innovation in the economy.
A Millian Primer
Mill was raised, and remained throughout his life, a staunch utilitarian . As a utilitarian, he had a
complete belief that all decisions should be determined by that which caused the greatest happiness

Spidery In Brazil
A spider from Brazil takes more than an agonizing bite that sends most casualties to the doctor s
clinic. Its venom invigorates an erection that lasts for an hour and sometimes, longer. Lately,
researchers have finally discovered the compound that causes male s private organ to get super
erected.
In Brazil, staff from an emergency section can quickly recognize the people that are bitten by this
Brazilian spidery. Patients not only undergo an excruciating torment and an elevated blood
pressure, an uncomfortable erection will always be present to these victims as well.
The erection is a reaction that everyone who gets stung by this arachnid will encounter alongside

They have to be fully relaxed so the blood will freely flow inside and that is how you get an
erection, because of the fact that the blood gets flown and trapped into the reproductive organ.
However, an erection does not last for a very very long time. The potency destroyer, a substance
called PDE 5 separates the cGMP and thus changes the erect reproductive organ into its ordinary
flacid state.
The most prominent impotency medications are Viagra, Cialis and Levtra works by hindering this
potency destroyer substance.
The arachnid s substance works in a different way, influencing a prior stride in the erection
procedure. Some way or another, the toxins elevates the number of nitric oxide, which kind of sets
the movement of an erection. The researchers propose that a mixture of a manufactured variant of
the spider s venom with a medication like Viagra would bring about an amplified impact.
So the blend of the two medications could be much more proficient in patients that do not react

The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit...
INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension
system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A
new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was
officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar
program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested
by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability,
and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries
with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser
extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia
has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal
sector. DC (Jaminan Hari Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by
contributors by withdrawing the balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform
was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance
cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand
the actuarial component in a DC scheme. Early contributions in the accumulation period matters
more compared to the latter ones. Most Individuals do not know the power of compound

The first quadrant of the graph was used so the shaded portion goes to the origin before it stops at
the two axes.
The point on the graph in the shaded area would be (50, 40). That would mean that 50 feet would
be used for classic rockers and we would use 40 feet for the modern rocker that would be needed.
So to see if the order could be filled we will plug them in to the equation: 15c (50) = 750c for
classic 12m (40) = 480m which equals 750 + 480 = 1230. We can fill the order.
Another point on the graph that is outside the shaded area would be (150, 100). 150 would be for
the classic rocker and 100 for modern. Now, we plug them in to the equation to see if the order can
be filled. 15c (150) = 2250 for classic 12m (100) = 1200 which equals 2250 + 1200 = 3450 which
means the order can t be filled. Now if we use the point on the line we will have (124, 95). So 124
for the classic and 95 for the maple. Let plug them in the equation. 15c (124) = 1860 for classic.
12m (95) = 1140 which equals 1860 + 1128 = 3000, which means we will have enough to fill the
order. Now to see if we can fill the order from the fax we have received. Which was 125 for the
classic and 175 for modern. Let us plug them into the equation. 15c (125) = 1875, 12m (175) =
2100, which equals 1875 + 2100 =

Kenneth Game Research Paper
Kenneth Grahame was born on 8 March in Edinburgh, Scotland. When he was a little more than a
year old, his father, an advocate, received an appointment as sheriff substitute in Argyllshire at
Inveraray on Loch Fyne. Kenneth loved the sea and was happy there, but when he was 5, his
mother died from complications of childbirth, and his father, who had a drinking problem, gave
over care of Kenneth, his brother Willie, his sister Helen and the new baby Roland to Granny
Ingles, the children s grandmother, in Cookham Dean in the village of Cookham in Berkshire.
There the children lived in a spacious, if dilapidated, home, The Mount , on spacious grounds in
idyllic surroundings, and were introduced to the riverside and boating by their uncle, David Ingles,
curate at Cookham Dean church. This delightful ambiance, particularly Quarry Wood and the River
Thames, is believed, by Peter Green, his biographer, to have inspired the setting for The Wind in
the Willows. He was an outstanding pupil at St Edward s School in Oxford. During his early
years at St. Edwards, a sports regimen had not been established and the boys had freedom to

An alternative explanation, given in a letter on display in the Bank museum, is that he had
quarrelled with Walter Cunliffe, one of the bank s directors, who would later become Governor of
the Bank of England, in the course of which he was heard to say that Cunliffe was no gentleman ,
and that his retirement was enforced ostensibly on health grounds. He was awarded an annual

Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony
Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in
defense however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a
charter by giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the
Georgia Colony had seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of
the settlement, the establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The
corporation was made to be a charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of
their own. Also Because of the small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there
were several complaints about going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help
establish the colony. James Oglethorpeand 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do
whatever it took to make the colony a utopian city.
Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated
the Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is
found in document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully
kept several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications
Document D). At St. Simon s island Oglethorpe led the battle and ultimately conquered the Spanish
even after the Spanish launched a massive assault on Garrison; Georgia held firm and the Spanish

It s when you experience pain or stiffness in the neck that makes it difficult to move your neck
from side to side. It s a pain that can usually be treated at home and will pass in a day or two with
the right treatment.

While sitting up straight in a chair, press your shoulder blades together then relax. This should be
done up to ten times. Roll your shoulders in circles to the back then reverse at least ten times. With
slow movements, press your ear towards your shoulder on each side. Do as many repetitions as you
need to start feeling the muscle releasing.
Heat Therapy
Blood circulation to the neck can decrease the pain and muscle spasm associated with a stiff neck.
You can use a heating pad or a warm cloth on your neck for approximately twenty minutes to relieve
the pain and stiffness. The heat loosens the neck muscles.
Massage the Muscle
A good massage of the area can also reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the muscles. A
soothing oil for the massage will also have the added benefit of helping you to relax and feel less
stressed.
Exercises for a Stiff Neck
Like every other muscle in the body, the neck muscle needs to be exercised to function properly.
Slowly roll your head in a circle clockwise ten to fifteen times before switching directions and
circling counter clockwise. This will help exercise the neck. Let your chin drop to your chest
slowly then reverse direction to look at the ceiling. Be careful with this exercise since it can make
you slightly dizzy if you do it too quickly.

1970 s Feminist Art Movement
The feminist art movement in the 1970 s culminated as a result of numerous factors. Females
rebelled against traditional art which sexualized objects of desire and was masculine in nature.
Female artists voiced their opinions of the stereotypes of gender, female body, and beauty ideals in
their work. Hannah Wilke, Ana Mendieta, and Carolee Schneemann are artists that helped pave the
way for feminist art and expression. A contemporary artist that reflects the 1970 s movement is

Cost Benefit Analysis Essay COST‐BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF AN RFID ASSET TRACKING SYSTEM INTRODUCTION This paper outlines the cost‐benefit analysis of using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in an asset‐tracking application. To facilitate the analysis, RFID will be compared against the incumbent technology, bar‐coding. An experiment comparing these two technologies was conducted, and the findings from this experiment are further analysed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a time saving of 90.82%, RFID proves its time and cost savings while performing asset inventories. BUSINESS ANALYSIS In order to clarify what savings RFID can provide for an organisation currently utilizing outdated, inefficient logistics technologies, these time savings should be used, along with some general assumptions, to project indicative cost savings. To facilitate analysis of the labour cost savings associated to implementing RFID processes to an asset tracking context, the life cycle of a typical asset is considered. The different types of assets and their individual characteristics are ignored to simplify the analysis. In order for this document to provide useful figures for a wider range of customers, a basic logistics department with varying asset levels and traffic will be analysed. Some general assumptions are listed: пѓ Average warehouse worker works a 38 hour week and earns a $60,000AU salary. пѓ Number of assets to be tracked: o 10,000 o 20,000 o 50,000 o 100,000 пѓ Each tagged asset follows an assumed asset life cycle. • 3. Essay Skylock in ShakespeareВґs Merchant of Venice Villian One of the earliest idioms taught to students of all ages is Don t judge a book by its cover. Oftentimes, a quote like that can easily be disregarded, however, it is applicable to people who aren t always who they seem to be. Shakespeare s play the Merchant of Venice is an outstanding work that contains a very strange villain in Shylock, who is hated by all, although he has not wronged them in the past. Thusly, his habits and personality evolved from his interactions with the Venetian populous. By examining the changes Shylock displays in tone, Shylock the villain s motivations can be seen and ultimately display that no matter how twisted a person is or may seem, the motivations behind their actions indicate that innately they have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This correlates almost directly to how most of the other major characters of Merchant of Venice also treat him (e.g. Antonio). However, as is with most cases, there are two sides to each story. To understand the motivation behind Shylock s obsession with money, the beginning of the play has to be referenced. In Shylock s negotiations with Bassanio and Antonio, Shylock recalls, Signior Antonio, many a time and oft in the Rialto you have rated me about my moneys and my usances... You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog and spet upon my Jewish gabardine... You called me dog; and for these courtesies I ll lend you thus much moneys? (1.3.104 126). From this passage, Shylock s motivations are presented clearly. He loathes Antonio for how poorly he has treated him in the past, insulting both his character and his religion. Therefore, the motivating factor in lending money to Bassanio is so Shylock has the ability to hold some form of power over Antonio. Therein lies the key to Shylock s obsession with wealth. In the referenced Venetian culture, Jewish people were persecuted for their religion and were branded unsavory by the predominantly Christian community. Shylock, being ridiculed and domineered his whole life by his Christian counterparts, saw an opportunity to finally even the odds and jumped at it. Shylock clings onto his wealth because it is the only thing that gives him power in Venetian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clay deposits are mostly composed of clay minerals, a subtype of phyllosilicate minerals, which impart plasticity and harden when fired or dried; they also may contain variable amounts of water trapped in the mineral structure by polar attraction. CHAPTER II Review Of Related Literature The Baghdad battery was the foundation of this project and Baghdad batteries were built by Ancient Parathions. There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions were able to use it since there were no wires found for the electric current to flow. The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering includes charcoal and wood sand as an alternative helping increase electric current by 2 volts. (Source: http:/ /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery July 28, 2011)

The excitement of the strip and the relaxation of the beach allured me to this particular vacation spot. If you are looking for an entertaining and relaxing way to spend the hot days of summer, Myrtle Beach has plenty to offer. Myrtle Beach stretches up the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina. The drive takes approximately six hours from East Tennessee State University. Our trip during the summer made for a great vacation, the temperature stayed between the 80 s and 90 s, perfect sun tanning weather. The friendly smiles and southern hospitality mixed well with the warm climate. Teenagers and young adults occupy Myrtle Beach more than any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Myrtle Beach has many hotels and resorts to chose from. Most of them sit either right on the beach or across the street. The rates usually run weekly from Sunday to Saturday. A week s stay always gives me enough time to do and see all I want. The inexpensive hotels, as stated earlier, can be found on the strip. These hotels normally run about $180 a week for a room with two double beds. The resort areas, however, cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I recommend the place that I stayed when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an oceanfront view, two pools, a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant. Wherever you decide to stay you are sure to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Myrtle Beach. Restaurants in Myrtle Beach appear almost as plentiful as the hotels. Where you eat may depend on how much money you want to spend. My friends and I, as typical college students, did not have much money to spend. So we ate at the local fast food restaurants, such as, Burger King, Taco Bell and McDonalds, for the majority of the trip. We found, however, that the River City CafГ© had good food for a great price. If you would like to eat a more cordial dinner, the Calabash Seafood restaurant has sensational seafood entrГ©e s. With all the hotels nestled along the coast, the most obvious attraction is the beach itself. The beautiful water and clean beach makes for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. A Report On Mobile Technology Mobility is no longer optional in today s world; most enterprises are adopting mobile first strategies to provide real time information and interactivity to consumers or employees on the go. Enterprise mobility has seen increased popularity in the last few years, bringing in with it the growing trend of Bring your own device (BYOD). While BYOD has a host of merits like increased productivity, better connectivity and less expenditure for enterprises, but there are security risks involved. This is where mobile management comes into the picture. It is generally an administrative system and service that is used to encrypt and lock the device, and enforce miscellaneous other BYOD policies. Schneider Electric BYOD policy is implemented through Airwatch Mobile Device Management (MDM). Although BYOD adoption is continuously increasing, only 1 percent of Schneider Electric employees have opted for BYOD enrollment on their personal mobile devices until now. The major factors contributing to low adoption of BYOD are the concerns and uncertainties around user activity tracking, logging and potential loss or leakage of personal data. Moreover, the current BYOD deployment does not support a large variety of popular mobile devices. Due to this, the adoption and usage of mobile applications via the Internal App Store is also quite low. However, the current BYOD program is geared towards addressing the enterprise data security concerns, which obviously has merits, and cannot be overlooked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Piaget’S Cognitive Developmental Theory States That Children Piaget s Cognitive Developmental Theory states that children go through four stages of cognitive development as they actively construct their understanding of the world. Stage one of this theory, or the sensorimotor stage, infants of the age newborn through two years construct an understanding of the world by sensory skills (hearing and seeing) with physical actions. This for example could be a simple game of peak a boo. Skye, the infant in the video clip, giggles at his mother playing the game. According to Piaget s theory, young infants do not know what happens when object go out of sight. During the first year, infants learn that objects have life of their own, even when not visible. This is known as object permanence. Mya knew to look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When asking the child which has more, she counted and stated that they were the same. When spreading out the quarters in only one row, making it look like there was more in it than the other, the child states as observed; the row with the more spread out quarters has more. This is because one row was longer than the other. The final experiment consisted of Graham crackers. The young girl was handed one cracker while the adult had two. The girl did not think it was very fair for the adult to have more. When her cracker was cut in half, she instantly believed she had the same amount and was content. These experiences were an excellent example of this stage. It would take an older child to realize it was the same amounts. Children in this experiment was going by what they saw. During stage three, or the concrete operational stage, children can now reason logically about concrete events and classify objects into different sets. This stage consists of children who are older in age. These children are between the ages of seven and eleven. Concrete operational thinkers though cannot image the steps needed to complete a math equation. This is because it would require a level of thinking that is too nonconcrete for this stage of development. An example of this stage uses the same experiment in stage two with the liquids, which I believe is easy to understand because it is already been experimented with just at a ... Radishes are great plants for demonstrating the effects of different levels of plant nutrition, germinating and growing quickly and reliably. Radish plants take up nutrients from the soil to make food. Soil is rich in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium; but these nutrients are sometimes not present in the acceptable amount. Nitrogen is vital because it is a major component of chlorophyll, which is the compound by which plants use in photosynthesis. It is also a major component of amino acids and without them plants withers and die. • 13. The Discourse Of Shakespeare s Hamlet ( Rough Draft ) The Discourse of Dance in Shakespeare s Hamlet (Rough Draft) Alan Brissenden, a noted dance critic and Shakespearean scholar, asserts that when Shakespeare uses dance it always contributes to plot, character, or imagery, and sometimes to all of these at one time ( Jacobean 249). In the comedies, dance is used in the first few acts of the play to create an atmosphere of dramatic irony: dance, in its fundamental purpose in the Elizabethan and Jacobean theater was to create a sense of harmony and goodwill; when paired with the plot of a tragedy, dance stands in stark contrast to the discord of the final acts. Dance, therefore, makes a dramatically relevant comment on the action to follow (Shakespeare 75). Though extensively covered by academic discourse, little research has been conducted concerning the use of dance and dance imagery in Hamlet. Shakespeare uses the discourse of dance and clowning to define Hamlet s character. Dance does not inform the action, but rather informs the inaction. It defines Hamlet s state of mind and his lack of desire to escape his melancholy. Dance is a means through which he criticizes others, criticism which draws these characters into his own madness. During the Early Modern period, dance had many uses; it was considered a form of medicine, a sign of religious exaltation, and a social necessity. Dance was a popular form of exercise and hygiene, keeping the humors in balance and promoting good health much like hunting, walking, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will transfer over to the unconscious realm as the second step ,when Luke and his friends leave land on a spaceship and starts traveling in space to the Death Star. Next is the calls, usually there is just one but in Star Warsthere is a mini call and a major call. The mini call is Luke cleaning up R2D2 and find the plans that Leia sent to go to Obiwon. Luke thinks she is beautiful and she is a princess so he wants to do something that can help save her. The major call is after Obi Wan, or Ben, saved Luke the plans is presented to him, Obi Wan wants Luke to help him save the princess, Luke declines his offer because he can t leave his Aunt and Uncle. Essentially, the only difference between race and ethnicity is that race is determined by the dominant ethnicity. Race has been a relevant topic throughout history, and racial conflicts still exist in the modern world. Judgements based on racial identity create prejudice and bigotry. The susceptibility of people to believe others predispositions is what causes prejudice and bigotry to grow. Racial identity has inhibited individuals opportunities for centuries due to predispositions formed from a lack of credible knowledge. Perspective: African American African Americans have been perceived as inferior for centuries due to their race. African discrimination began with the Atlantic slave trade. Europeans bought Africans for the purpose of using them as slaves in the New World. According to the BBC, more than a million enslaved Africans died during just their transport to the Americas. Patrick Manning, a former Trinidad politician, estimated that ten million Africans entered the New World as slaves from 1500 1900. This early practice of discrimination encouraged the formation of later eras. The Atlantic slave trade took the right to life away from the Africans and took away their opportunities to experience the culture of their homeland. This inhibition was a direct cause for the lack of development seen in Africa throughout its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a heat treatment process that produces the required attributes of a hard, wear and fatigue resistant surface layer whilst maintaining a tough, durable core that allows for high stress situations. These properties are achieved by altering the chemical, metallurgical and physical properties of the components exterior without affecting its more ductile interior. For gears, case hardening is required to prevent pitting and deformation of the gears teeth under cyclic stresses. This method is preferred to through hardening, which is the uniform hardening of the entire component, as hardened metal is relatively less ductile and although strong, would not offer the same degree of toughness desired at its core. There are several different case hardening techniques used in the manufacturing industry. The different methods determine which physical properties, (such as surface hardness, strength, ductility, case depth and wear resistance) the component gets. This can be done by altering temperatures, heat source, time period, and quench media. A Brief Note On Justice And Environmental Cleanup Sordum Deeyaa ENG 1020 Ms. Campbell 29 November 2016 Research Paper Justice Through Environmental Cleanup I belong to a proud people called the Ogoni people. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in the Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does this matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine their destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907 when the Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where people were living. This caused oil spills and polluted the water and land that was used to produce fruits and vegetables. Nigeria also allowed these practices to go on because a lot of Nigeria s wealth came from oil. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to get rid of the Ogoni so that they can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the help of Shell and the Nigerian government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles. My dad came here as a refugee and I was born here. • 26. Airway Pressure Release Ventilation ( Aprv ) WHAT IS APRV? Airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) is a fairly new mode of ventilation, just becoming available in the U.S. in the mid 1990 s. APRV is inverse ratio, pressure controlled, intermittent mandatory ventilation with unrestricted spontaneous breathing and it is based on the principle of open lung approach . (Daoud, Farag, Chatburn, 2012) The open lung approach is concept of maximizing and maintaining alveolar recruitment throughout the ventilatory cycle by potentially ventilating the lung on the steep portion of the pressure volume curve, thus avoiding over distention on inspiration and alveolar collapse on exhalation . (2012) APRV was first used and described in 1987 as CPAP with an intermittent pressure release phase. Continuous airway pressure is applied to maintain adequate lung volume and improve alveolar recruitment. It is a pressure limited, time cycled, volume variable mode of ventilation. (2012) This time cycled release phase allow for CO2 removal and keep the alveoli inflated at the inspiratory pressure for most of the respiratory cycle , allowing for a higher mean airway pressure at lower peak airway pressures. APRV produces similar or improved oxygenation with lower peak airway pressures with no significant hemodynamic effects compared with alternative modes of ventilation in neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations. These poems are memories and are not written in the present which means the speakers are sharing their memories through their own reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are in words that end in ed in the first sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and line 1 pg 636). In Updike s poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog. Similarly in Kenyon s poem, the catis tied to a blue bowl, which the pet is buried with. These objects are apart of the pets everyday lives, and is something that their owners have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The HBO series follows nine noble families and their fight for control of Westeros, the land in which they all call home. The series has political and sexual intrigue along with networks within networks that are pervasive throughout the series. In season one of A Game of Thrones, King Robert, of Westeros, asks his old friend, Lord Stark, to serve as Hand of the King, or the second in command. Secretly warned that the previous Hand and dear friend to both Lord Stark and the King Robert was assassinated, Lord Stark accepts the offer only to investigate the former Hand s assassination further. Meanwhile the Queen s family, the Lannister s, the wealthiest house in the realm may be hatching a plot to take power of the Seven Kingdoms. Across the sea, the last two members of the previously overthrown family, the Targaryens, are also scheming to regain the throne. • 38. A Church Not Meant for Prayers A church not meant for prayers Glasgow is well known for being an inventive city, and so is its architecture. Electing the best of the city is not only a matter of beauty, it has to embrace all the characteristics that makes something Glaswegian: history, creativity, beauty and also a little alcohol. That s the reason that after extensive research the chosen building to represent Glasgow s success is the Oran Mor pub. But why choose a pub among hundreds in the city? What makes it so special? It shows in its essence the spirit of the Glaswegians, it s part of the history and now it works providing a good time (and drinks) to the population. The former Kelvinside Parish Church was built in 1862 by J.J. Stevenson (Campbel, Douglas and Stevenson). It started with the moves of John Blackie, a publisher and writer. He knew that a residential development was about to take place west of Kelvinbridge, an area that was receiving lots of attention after the University of Glasgow moved to Gillmore Hill, and new people were about to move in. These people would need a place to worship and to keep their spiritual well being. In a meeting with members of the Free Church of Glasgow it was decided that a new temple should be built. Soon the lands at the cross of Byres Road and Great Western Road were secured for the church. The foundation stone was laid on the 4th of September of 1862 by John Blackie. The final cost was almost two times the initial budget for the building (fig. I). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Ancient Greeks And The Ancient Greek Sculptures In about c.580 BCE the Kouros (Youth) was created. This is a sculpture of a Greek God standing in the frontal position with one foot pointed forward and the hips still straight. This shows a godly position because realistically humans cannot stand like this. This is very important because for the Greeks to mimic the Ancient Egyptian sculpting styles you can see that they are trying to make a statement. They are trying to expand the footprint of the art of the Ancient Egyptians. They specifically followed the stance and facial expressions of the sculptures which we see now as a Godly stance because humans cannot physically stand the way that they are standing. The resemblance between the Ancient Greek and the Ancient Egyptian sculptures is very important because the Egyptian Pharaohs are known as Demi Gods and the Ancient Greek were showing themselves as Gods in their Sculptures. In the Kuros from Tenea head you can see that they mouth has a smile to it. This is something new to us. We did not see a smile in these types of sculptures for a long time. This is very important because the Greeks are straying away from the Egyptian sculptures and becoming more human. The smile shows more human features which means that they are evolving their way of making art into something new and innovative. As the Greeks sculptures evolve they become more and more human in ways. The more the Greeks evolve, the more human their sculptures become and the more they stray away from ... Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death, successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary society in the form of a public disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques to support his claims. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written to inform the modern day society as to how media, specifically television, has negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person virtually powerless and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of Aldous Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people are too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that they are virtually powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd page of Foreword). We, as a society, love television. The character of Willy s son, Biff represents the awareness, the harsh truth that not everyone can (and will succeed) and he understands his place in society. How Did John Stuart Mill Influence Australian Innovation Millian Innovation: The Applicability of the Teachings of John Stuart Mill to the Australian Innovation Crisis John Stuart Mill was one of the foremost economists of the nineteenth century and his teachings are still highly applicable to the issues faced by modern society. Mill had been raised strongly utilitarian and he implemented this belief throughout his life, supplementing it with libertarian and pro educational tendencies. His fundamental tendencies can be applied to the issues facing innovation in Australia today, such as inappropriate government funding, poor provision of education and equality and a lack of individual libertyand opportunity for collaboration. By applying a Millian perspective to the issue of Australian innovation, strong policy recommendations can be reached which encourage greater individual liberties and more accessibility to government sponsored services which, in turn, serve to stimulate greater innovation in the economy. INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension schemes. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first quadrant of the graph was used so the shaded portion goes to the origin before it stops at the two axes. The point on the graph in the shaded area would be (50, 40). That would mean that 50 feet would be used for classic rockers and we would use 40 feet for the modern rocker that would be needed. So to see if the order could be filled we will plug them in to the equation: 15c (50) = 750c for classic 12m (40) = 480m which equals 750 + 480 = 1230. We can fill the order. Another point on the graph that is outside the shaded area would be (150, 100). 150 would be for the classic rocker and 100 for modern. Now, we plug them in to the equation to see if the order can be filled. 15c (150) = 2250 for classic 12m (100) = 1200 which equals 2250 + 1200 = 3450 which means the order can t be filled. Now if we use the point on the line we will have (124, 95). So 124 for the classic and 95 for the maple. Let plug them in the equation. 15c (124) = 1860 for classic. 12m (95) = 1140 which equals 1860 + 1128 = 3000, which means we will have enough to fill the order.
