That is the serious problem for Netflix. At the same time, we also find that Net Financing Cash

2015. The reason of this trend is its long term debt raise significantly. The growth rate of Net
Financing Cash Flow is 202.80% in 2015. As a result, Netflix show a 840.69 million free cash
flow, the growth rate is 1478.96% and the free cash flow yield is 1.68%. These years, margins of
international steaming have increase steadily. However, because of unfavorable currency
movements and increasing of related additional costs, Netflix is going through a difficult time.
Since the company intends to complete its global expansion phase by the end of 2016, and then
generate material global profits. We consider that Netflix s international segment will start to break

Essay about Arthurian Romances
Arthurian Romances
The Middle Ages of Europe were governed by a system which is referred to as feudalist. The
people of this system flow together well; society in these times require noble people to set the
example for the younger. The ranks of the noble include counts, lords, knights, kings, queens, etc.
These noblemen can be compared to as dueling politicians; they watch over their communities,
keeping everything orderly, and they fend off any attackers trying to besiege land. The peace
keeper of the society is the knight. The knight has been appointed the position of knight by a king
because his traits and characteristic best fit the standards of a good warrior and protector of the
civilization. A knight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one could detain me; tomorrow I shall tarry no more I want to leave in the morning, when I see
the day is dawning. (1) He is extremely fair when dealing with other knights, that is he doesn t take
cheap shots or kill the other off; he is polite and courteous.
To his wife he has total respect and love to give, but he isn t hesitant when telling her to stay put.
The story puts the knight in a high class because he is extremely helpful to the community.
(1) Chretien De Troyes, Arthurian Romances, Trans. William W. Kibler
(New York: Penguin Books, 1991) p. 89
The knight prays constantly to his God for protection. He fights others in battles with an extremely
high risk of death, so he likes to profess a faith.
Erec of Lac is honored by his community of Christians for his heroics and courage. His faith is
necessary to keep his beautiful wife. They use religion to establish trust in their relationship to
ensure happiness together.
Knighthood is only developed for the man because women are only seen as maid servants.
Authority feel that a woman cannot possess all the qualities of a knight so they put them to work
as maids. The only women who have high ranks in the feudalist system are those who are married
to the noble ranks. Otherwise, women will marry into poverty where they will remain for the rest
of their time.

Tar Sands, By Jon Brownell
Tar Sands EssayJon Brownell The Alberta Tar Sands are large deposits of bitumen,a sticky,
black and viscous semi solid form of petroleum.(Merriam Webster) The bitumen is extracted
from the earth and separated from materials that are not petroleum. This process consumes both
water from the Athabasca River drainage basin and energy. While emissions from the water
used are low the airborne pollutants contain more than 350 kilograms of cancer causing
chemicals every four months.(Kelly) Also, bitumen is one of the least efficient power sources
in the world.(Rapier) The Tar Sands are dangerous for people to live near, are environmentally
damaging and unsustainable and are an inefficient source of power compared to other sources
available in Canada. While the Tar Sands are currently good for the canadian economy, in the
long term they will cost us more than they make. The content of cancer causing chemicals like
PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is twice as high as the standard recommended by the
national oceanic and atmospheric administration in the United States. These levels have been
observed to cause liver cancer in fish. (Timoney 68) Fish from Lake Athabasca have been found
with deformities other than liver cancer, like lumps or bumps. Cancer levels in people who live in
Fort Chipewyan are much higher than in other parts of the country.(McLachlan 17) The
Government of Canada says that the risk of cancer is small because people do not eat animals from

Copper Synthesis Lab Report
Electrolysis of copper sulfate has great importance in the mining industry as it is a better metal
extraction process compared to simply mining the ore from the rocks. This is because electrolysis

particularly important for the copperto be used in industrial processes. (1) Copper is used in

dissolved in water or molten so that the ions are free to move during the process.
During electrolysis, oxidation and reduction takes place. Positively charged ions move to the
negative electrode (cathode) where they receive electrons. This is called reduction. Negatively
charged ions move to the positive electrode (anode) where they are oxidised meaning they lose
electrons. This causes different elements to be formed at the different

Review Of Writing A Wall Street Op
To begin with, Flash Boys is terrible. It is not just a major whiff, but a travesty. And it really ticked
me off.
Lewis had a major incentive to over hype the story, as he all but admitted. I fully agree with Cliff
Asness of AQR Capital, who wrote in a Wall Street op ed: Making mountains out of molehills
sells more books than a study of molehills. That is more or less what happened here. Lewis
wanted to sell a lot of books. He wanted to capture lightning in a bottle (to use his own phrase). He
captured irresponsible hyperbole instead.
In Flash Boys, Lewis immense talent as a writer works against him. He is a master of storycraft of
telling a complex story through the lens of key players. But when the actual story is distorted ...

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, published in 1923, is the fictionalized version of Jesse
Livermore s true story. A key point in the story is when Livermore (aka Larry Livingston) goes
from trading in the bucket shops to actually trading real equities on the exchanges, by way of the
ticker tape. In this book, more than 90 years old now, Livermore talks about how his bucket shop
trading style had to adjust because instant fills were not available in the real world. He talked of
a lag in the tape that forced him to adjust his style. Sound familiar? Liquidity has always been an
issue. The more size you want to move, the more of an issue it becomes. There has always been a
need for middlemen to provide it, and friction / incentive issues in doing so, ever since the fabled
meeting under the Buttonwood tree.
In the late 1980s, the Justice department busted 46 traders and brokers in the Chicago trading pits.
The stealing had gotten so bad, the FBI came onto the trading floor. At the turn of the 21st century,
the stealing was still bad. I was an international commodity broker as my first job out of school
circa 1998. We had lots of hedge clients, and did a lot of business with futures giant Refco (who
later imploded in a fireball of corruption). I remember countless screaming conversations

Supreme Court Term Limits
In our American government nearly all of our officials titles have limits on them. Regulating the
tenure that a single person is allowed to serve. One of our arguably most important positions in
the American government, the supreme court justice does in fact not have a term limit. Many
people question why they do not have term limits and in fact in the article Why it s time to get
serious about Supreme Court term limits they say Only 17 percent said they supported life tenure.
66 percent of Democrats and 74 percent of Republicans supported the proposal a strong, and rare,
show of bipartisanship. With their study it shows that majority of people think it s a good idea.
Although there is a reason why they show that precise data.

The Three Categories Of Civil Peace
With every object that people have and every experience that people go though, they can be
categorized into three categories: needs, wants, and negatives. Wants and needs, the two positive
categories, are prioritized differently by everyone. People often misinterpret some parts of these
categories, believing certain wants are needs and vice versa. For example, some people see makeup
as a needto go outside, it is really just a want. This is how addictions form. When people categorize
a want as need, however subconsciously, they end up truly needing that, whether it be drugs,
alcohol, or even sugar. On the other hand, when people prioritize their wants, they often will be
happier in life, even though they are in worse situations than many of... Show more content on

that my heart really cared for, (Golden Touch 452). He comes upon this realization by putting

prioritize his needs foremost after going through the trauma of almost losing his daughter.
Additionally, in Warriors Don t Cry, Melba s family feared for her safety, but they also felt that
the push for integration was a god given mission, (Melba 3). Melba was already experiencing
bullying, and this would increase that, but they felt that they needed to integrate Melba. After the

Positive Effects Of The Green Revolution
The term Green Revolution was first used in 1968 when people realized that a revolution in
agriculture was taking place. In this revolution many technology transfer initiatives were created
which led to a drastic increase of production worldwide as well as innovative ideas that created
large supplies of food very quickly. Incorporating technological ideas such as mechanization,
which led to the massive increase of production of food at the expense of creating larger but
fewer farms, is what really gave headway to the mass production of food. With the creation of so
much food there needed to be advancements in the way we grew our food such as synthetic
fertilizers, pesticides, and GMOs. With these technological changes in the way food was farmed
and produced many people were able to benefit from the outcomes of the Green Revolution. The
food was able to be made and sold so cheaply that the revolution, to some degree, helped alleviate
world hunger by providing people with food that diversified their diet. However, with these changes
in agriculturecame changes in the socio economy. Many small farms went into debt and lost their
land while the wealthier farms were able to grow the amount of land they had, thereby giving rise
to new ways of farming, like monoculture farming. Overall, the Green Revolution changed the
world in both positive and negative ways. By using new and old technologies to create a system
where food could be made cheaply and at large quantities, we see many

Essay on A Written Study of Edward Scissorhands
A Written Study of Edward Scissorhands
In the film Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton creates a suburban fantasy by explaining his
interpretation of what it is like to live in a suburb. The definition of suburb is living in the outskirts
of a town and having limited interests and narrow minded views.
Tim Burton creates suburbia and practically makes a parody of the suburb where the family live.
The women typify the definition of a suburban housewife; they stay at home, clean and cook. They
are always on each others doorsteps trying to get the latest gossip and they always know what
everyone is up too. Tim Burton mixes this with his imagination making it a suburban fantasy. He
does this by creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael Keaton plays Beetlejuice and Batman but is also in other Tim Burton Films. Winona Ryder
plays Kim in Edward Scissorhands and the little girl in Beetlejuice she has also played different
parts in other Tim Burton films one of them was Mars Attacks. Tim Burton uses the same actors
because he has worked with them before and knows if they can do it he also knows that he could
rely on them.
In Edward Scissorhands there is a typical stereotype castle where Edward was created, in contrast
with the house in Beetlejuice where the couple that lived there died and now haunt it, so it s the
same idea and I think that Tim Burton Is trying to say to the audience that these big houses are
haunted and things do lurk around in the night. Why he has the same idea twice could be
because he wants to get his point across in different ways so that people will see his views and
take notice of them I think he is trying to influence the audience. Another similarity was that
when Edward is brought down from his home he has to learn to socialise compared to Beetlejuice
when the couple die they have to learn the rules of the dead, so again the idea is the same. In both
films Tim Burton creates black humour by making a joke of Edwards struggle to get along in the
community and the fact that a couple have died and now they

Behavioral Effects Of Cannabis
Cannabis contains more than 400 different chemicals including phytocannabinoids, terpenoids and
essential oils (ElSohly and Slade, 2005); however, the behavioral effects of cannabis (i.e. euphoria,
relaxation, anxiety, confusion, memory loss, and paranoia) are primarily the result of the
psychoactive ingredient, О”9 tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) (Adams and Martin, 1996; Wachtel et
al., 2002; Hall and Degenhardt, 2009). The behavioral effects of THC are largely mediated by its
action as a partial agonist at the G protein coupled cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptor, which is the
most abundantly expressed G protein coupled receptor in the brain. In particular, CB1 receptors
have dense expression in brain regions involved in reward, addiction, and cognitive

One particularly sensitive method for analysis of pure solvent (applicable to wells containing
DNAPL) involves combustion of the chlorinated hydrocarbon sample with CuO, precipitation of
AgCl and formation of CH3Cl for analysis on IRMS [10]. Isotopic ratios are expressed in the delta
notation, Оґ, which represents the per mil variation of the isotopic ratio standard. For carbon, the
13C/12C ratio is established by the Pee Dee Belemnite international standard and 37Cl/35Cl ratio
is compared to the Standard Mean Ocean Chloride (SMOC) standard by the following equation:
Оґ13C or Оґ37Cl = (Rsample/Rstandard 1) * 1000. Comparison of the deltas for both compounds
as part of a multi isotopic approach will provide greater confidence in the determination of the
plume source by providing a more fine tuned view of chlorinated solvent signatures compared to
single isotope analysis, particularly under consideration that Оґ37Cl values are typically within a
much smaller range than that of Оґ13C.

work in the industry and know it fits the criteria for security. So I will get down to the name
three major information threats to the Card Service Industries. I got my three major information

Cultural Factors In The Sociocultural Environment
There are many things in life that influence our development in some shape or form. Whether in a
positive or negative way, influence is something that surrounds us, our children and family and may
determine the way we develop. We are all prone to influences in our environment. Although there
are many factors that influence us, one specific example are the sociocultural factors we are
surrounded by in our everyday lives. This paper will be discussing the strengths and weaknesses in
the sociocultural environmentthat influence both children and families.
Growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, having neglectful parents, or simply going through
natural disasters are a few negative ways sociocultural factors may influence the way children
and families develop. There are many people living in safe neighborhoods but there is also a
decent amount of families who are living in very dangerous areas. There are areas in this city
where crime is rarely ever seen, but there are also many areas where crime is seen on a daily
basis and many families are going through that and have to either see it or live through it. This
impacts a child a whole lot because they grow up hearing about people getting shot, people drug
dealing, being addicted to alcohol and a variety of negative lifestyles children and families should
not have to live through. Sadly, sometimes in between all this going on, children grow up having
parents that may always be working or worse, be criminals. The parents

Henry Viii s The Mary Rose
Henry VIII s flagship the Mary Rose was a four masted carrack built in Portsmouth by a team of
skilled shipwrights, which would have been led by a master shipwright, in 1510 11. It is an
important example in the history of the transition in England from clinker (edge joined planks) to
carvel (frame orientated) shipbuilding style, a progression with interesting implications on the
design process. At the same time, the growing artillery requirements required innovations in gun
port design and hull reinforcement. When Henry VIII became King in 1509, he had few
warships. It was usual to repurpose merchant vessels by adding guns in case of war, but as
Scotland and France were both threatening war it was felt necessary to be better prepared.

American independence from Great Britain was at first all just a dream from new American
colonists. After years of war and key battles with British forces during the Revolutionary War, this
dream became a reality. However, some issues promised to be fixed after the Revolutionary War
were not corrected. Great Britain had agreements and treaties that were left unfulfilled in the eyes
of Americans. One major battle served as a resolution to all American problems with Great Britain,
and served as an ending statement in the triumphant War of 1812, the Battle of New Orleans. This
battle served as a breaking point for the newly founded American country as well as a ... Show more

But without the Battle of New Orleans and great leadership from Andrew Jackson, British troops
could possibly have done more damage to America s hopes of freedom. The Battle of New
Orleans during 1815 served as a key victory in the War of 1812 and helped shape the future
pathway of a new, independent nation, the United States of America.
Many battles during the War of 1812 had led to the success of America s second war of
independence. British impressment was a major cause of starting the War of 1812. British
naval ships were capturing American troops on ships and forcing them to join British forces
unwillingly. This did not go lightly with American forces. America soon took on Britain s
powerful navy and army during a period of two and a half years of battle, leading up to the
Battle of New Orleans. Staring off, the first successful American battle during 1814 was the
Battle of Chippewa. This battle occurred on the borders of Canada, with plans of American
forces to seize British forts, located in areas all over Canada. Surprisingly, the American forces
outnumbered the British in this attack, ratio being an army of around 4,000 versus the British
2,500 men. The two forces collided at Chippewa, a Canadian plain on July 5th, 1814. Being the
first battle of face to face combat during the War of 1812, American forces walked away with the
victory. This showed a preview of the tenacious, under rated army of the United States that would be

In this image we see two 13 year olds of different generations, the one on the left was taken 10
years ago and the one on the right was taken 2 years ago. We can see a clear distinction between
then and now. The photo on the left shows a young teenage girl wearing jeans and a shirt with a
jacket. If she is wearing any makeup it is very neutral and innocent, the image doesn t show off
any assets or suggests anything sexual. Whereas the image to he right she is wearing a pantsuit
with a really low V cut. She has a full face of makeup on and her hair slicked back into a high
ponytail. The difference that a decade can make blows my mind. Children are being exposed to
women wearing small skimpy clothing and a face full of make up. I believe that since they are

exposed to how men are treating women and how women are treating themselves. Kids don t
know any better they just want to be like their favourite movie star or singer and copy how they

Dietary Guidelines For Healthy Eating Patterns Essay
The 2015 2020 Dietary Guidelines was published last January 2016 and contains key
recommendation in having healthy eating patterns. These guidelines encourage healthy eating
practices in which individuals have to change their current eating habits, in order to make better
choices when it comes to food and drink intake. They also help individuals understand that as a part
of a society, they all play an important role in promoting healthy choices. However, this does not
restrict their eating behavior. In fact, they can still enjoy their food and beverage choices, while
they are encouraged to make better, healthier choices. Although there are different dietary
guidelines recommended by physicians and all affirms that shifting to healthier eating pattern
improves health, the 2015 Dietary Guideline provides eating pattern recommendations that are easy
to follow and accessible to all, regardless of culture and economic status. Through constant
research, a question was raised to see how these guidelines align with another nutritional diet, more
specifically the Paleo Diet. This diet is focused on bettering the well being of individuals, while
allowing them to live healthier and stronger lives. It is important to understand the positive
suggestions that the US Dietary Guidelines lays out, but to also see how the Paleo Nutritional Diet
matches up with these guidelines, in order to determine which is more influential to follow for an
individual s health. Based on the previous dietary

The Health Risk Associated with a Missing Ingredient in Bottled Water
Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of
inert facts. * Henry Adams
We can t change the bottled water industry, but we can change our own ignorance. Paul W. Mason
You may think that drinking bottled water is healthier than drinking tap water. However, according
to a recent Dateline NBC top story on the quality of bottled water, this healthy move is not so
healthy after all. Recently, a bottled water company in California was found to be bottling its brand
of Yosemitewater from a well in Fullerton, right below the LA freeway system (Verhovek 2).
While this is happening the American public remains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a key ingredient missing in the bottled water we drink and it is putting us at serious health
risks. This missing element is Magnesium. Our recent switch from tap to bottled water has left 72%
of our population magnesium deficient (Blackburn 1).
However, our population doesn t know about this current danger, they have been lulled into
believing that bottled water is healthy.
There are 150,000 deaths per year being caused by magnesium deficiency (United 4). That
calculates to one death every 2.5 minutes. In fact, a small city population dies each year because
they are magnesium deficient.
When you are magnesium deficient, your cholesterol is raised, you absorb more saturated fatty
acids, you decrease fecal excretion of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol and you decrease
myocardial concentrations of magnesium (Current 141).
There are also many signs of magnesium deficiency; nausea, confusion, delirium, muscle weakness,
irritability and electrical changes in the heart muscle.
Magnesium deficiency also causes atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, and
cardiovascular death (Citizens 2). Magnesium deficiency has killed more people than those that
were killed in all of the American wars (Blackburn 1).
So why isn t this news making front page headlines? The deaths are becoming almost as frequent as
those associated

Silk Stockings Stereotypes
The author of A Pair of Silk Stockings explores female roles based on what other people believe
due to stereotypes. In this short story Mrs. Sommers finds $15 which is a sizable about of
money to her in New York. She and her family are on the poorer side of New York. At first Mrs.
Sommers has no clue on what she should do the money she had just come to. She is thinking
about her children and that they could use new skirls because she had seen a beautiful new pattern
in a market window, or caps for her boys and sailor caps for her girls (Chopin 1). She thought of
them due to the fact that that is what mothers and wives do in the 1800 s, they but their children

The Effects Of Lawyering In The 1930s
Lawyering was dangerous during the 1930s. As I mentioned earlier, it was rare to find black
lawyers during that time, especially in the South, as they were seen as threats to the social order. It
was also unlikely that a judge would appoint a black lawyer to defend a black man in a rape trial as
black lawyers risked physical injury or even death by doing so. They were run out of towns and
physically assaulted if they represented black men accused of any crime by white people. The
situation was similar for white lawyers. As Banks says, In real life, the few local white lawyers
who represented black clients often suffered economic loss as well as social isolation. Merely
speaking out for equal justice was fraught with danger . However, it... Show more content on

Although the rape of black women was common during that time, the legal system and history
about that time period denied the fact that black women were subjected to sexual assault. The most
troubling fact, though, is that black women were much more vulnerable to rape than white women
were. White mobs used the rape of black women as a way to terrorize black people and black
women were exposed to sexual aggression from their employers as they worked outside their
homes in contrast to white women who worked inside their homes. Despite all of these facts, it
was highly unlikely for a black victim s case to go to trial and even if it did, the defendants were
mostly protected by prejudices against black women. Even the special doctrinal rules applied to
black defendants were not applied when victims were black women. As Wriggins says, By using
disparate procedures, the court implicitly makes two assertions. First, Black men do not want to
rape Black women with the same intensity or regularity that Black men want to rape white women.
Second, Black women do not experience coerced sex in the sense that white women experience

Gwyneth Paltrow Research Assignment
For this assignment I will be analyzing Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth Paltrow was born in 1972 to
parents who were also in the business of acting. Her mother was an actress and her father was a
producer/director. Paltrow herself became an actress as well as a singer and food writer. She
originally studied anthropology but later dropped out of schooland decided to act. Her first movie
was called High a made for tv filmthat her father directed. She did really well in the beginning of
her acting career but this slowed down after winning an Oscar. She believed she wasn t ready for
the pressure of acting and so made some poor decisions in films she decided to be a part of. Her
acting career later picked up again when she starred alongside Robert Downy Jr. in the Iron Man
movies. Gwyneth Paltrow has also been known to work for charitable organizations like Save
the Children and the Robin Hood Foundation . She s also involved in writing health related books
and cookbooks and in 2007 did a show about the food from Spain. She is also very well known for
a lifestyle newsletter called GOOP, the title is based off of her initials. Her slogan for this

Ntozake Shange s View Of The Oppression Of Colored Women
All of the stories that we have read over the semester have opened my eyes to the way women
were treated, good or bad. Some stories stuck in my mind more than others. These stories really
focused on the oppression of women and bringing awareness to the issue. The authors that wrote
them were very brave for writingabout the issues that were not getting talked about. The authors
were also very inspirational to women in the time period they were written in and informative to the
women who read them now. Ntozake Shange, Mary Austin and Willa Cather allowed me to analyze
how society viewed women and the unfair expectations put on them.

Literature Review On Stroke
CHAPTER 1: LITERATURE REVIEW
1.1. Stroke:
Stroke is a common, serious and global health care problem; it s the third most common cause of
death and first cause of adult disability (12). The rehabilitation is the major part of his care (13).
Stroke is a neurological deficit caused by an acute focal injury of the central nervous system (CNS)
by a vascular cause: a cerebral infarction appears with overt symptoms or intracerebral hemorrhage
with no symptoms (10%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (5%) (14).
The motor impairment that can be regarded as a loss or limitation of function in movement or
limitation in mobility and muscle contraction, is the most common and widely recognized
impairment caused by stroke. The movement of face, arm, and leg of one side of the body are the
structures affected by the motor impairment after stroke and affected 80% of patients. Motor ...

Sensory motor integration is the capacity of the central nervous system to transform different
sources of sensory input such as visual feedback to motor actions, it help in for the control of motor

Mirror visual feedback (MVF) was first introduced in 1992 by Ramachandran et al., it s a simple
non invasive technique for the treatment of two disorders that have long been regarded as
permanent and largely incurable; chronic pain of central origin (such as phantom pain) and
hemiparesis following a stroke. (6). Altschuler and colleagues reported in their pilot study the
effects of this treatment on the ability of movement of patients in terms of range of motion, speed
and precision, especially for patients with severe hemiparesis (24, 25).
This therapy has been used to treat phantom limb pain in amputee patients, and in stroke patients
with complex regional pain syndrome type I, peripheral nerve injury, brachial plexus avulsion, and

Questions On Organizational Communication Concepts Essay
1. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal.
2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts:
Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as
the set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational
members (p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members
should behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The
culture of an organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture
is dynamic, always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are
7 elements of culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines,
performances and values (class notes, Oct. 25). In the movie The Terminalthe culture is constantly
changing and when Viktor Navorski arrives, just his presence and the things he does changes the
culture of the terminal and those people that he comes in contact with. One element is artifacts,
this can include how he gathers the carts and puts them back to get the quarters. When I think of
artifacts I think of how he remodeled the space where he is living; gate 67. He added a plant and
a wheel chair with a blanket and made his space his home. He made one area like a restaurant when
he had dinner with Amelia. The restaurants, stores, customs office etc. are all elements of artifacts.

Relationship Between Ownership And A Sense Of Self
Anywhere in the world, someone acquires something, whether it be money, a car, or even an idea.
We can own many intangible and tangible items in life, but how does ownership relate to a sense
and development of self? This question has been constantly answered for centuries through
intelligent people like Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. However, the question has received
no agreeable answer. In the end, people will agree that there is a strong and positive relationship
between ownership and a sense of selfbecause the things you own will define and develop who
you are positively by exhibiting what you like, what you can and cannot do, and in the end,
characterizes you, as long as you use the things you own properly. Jean Paul Sartre argues that
intangible items such as skill and knowledge is something that we own and defines who we are,
since acquiring skill and knowledge makes us better in different aspects of life. He also argues
the tangible aspects of life that we own also defines us. By saying this, Sartre is agreeing that
when we own something such as knowledge, it will shape our sense of selfand identitysince it
makes us a better person when we use our own knowledge to benefit our own selves and others,
thus showing a strong and positive relationship between ownership and sense of self and identity.
Aristotle would also agree with both Jean Paul Sartre and the statement that the relationship
between ownership and sense of self is strong and positive

Within my own career, I plan to follow certain core ethical values as a mandatory requirement. In
my personal life, I have dealt with a lot of negative people or situations, which have left me with
a positive outcome; I have learned what NOT to do or who NOT to be. People have left me, lied
to my face, cheated, disrespected, been untruthful or dishonest, and have broken promises, etc.
Within each of these situations I took the high route instead of being down in the dumps. And I

or we can learn more from a bad boss than a good boss. Because sometimes we need to see what

Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school
team where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of
students in the team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined

to America, the transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse
community of my High School FootballTeam by developing my knowledge about football,

Analysis Of The Movie Dope
I recently watched the Netflix movie, Dope, a coming of age movie that doubles as a parody
and a dedication to the 1990s vintage ghetto generation. Malcolm and his friends Jib and Diggy
are nerdy high school seniors who bond over anything 90s related, play music together in their
punk band, and have grown up together in The Bottoms, in Inglewood, California. Malcolm was
trying to escape a gang one day when he had an encounter with a neighborhood drug dealer
named Dom. Dom ended up invited him to his birthday party, and with hesitation, Malcolm and
his friends decide to go. After an eventful night, Malcolm and his friends later discover that Dom
had stashed a handgun and a large amount of drugs in his backpack to hide it from the police
who raided the party. The rest of the movie plays out into a war over the drugs that Malcolm
accidentally possessed. Malcolm ends up selling the drugs and promises Dom s prominent
supplier, who was also coincidentally Malcolm s college interviewer, the profits made from the
drugs. Malcolm makes this deal with him only as long as he helps Malcolm achieve his goal of
getting into Harvard. Malcolm ends up setting up the supplier with the police while still getting
into Harvard and finally being able to get out of the hood. In terms of black masculinity, Malcolm
counteracts the hyper aggressive stereotypesthat some have in their head about young African

What Are The Similarities Between Baroque And Baroque Eras
Introduction
European design has evolved over the centuries from the Renaissance era of the 15th century to
Baroque era of the 16th century right through to the Rococo era of the late 1700 s. Even though the
style might have changed, some elements can be traced across all three periods.
This essay will explore the similarities and differences in the aforementioned eras by singling out 4
different examples from these eras and how these influenced or affected the society and patrons
who commissioned these artworks at that time.
Emphasis will be placed on specific examples that best demonstrate the style of each era. The
image examples used in this essay are firstly the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the bronze David

After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was
more dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the
emotional depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art,
1933:284). Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion
and movement in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the
ostentatious interiors homes of the elite and the church was highly decorated.
Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to
create depth and realism.
The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly
shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect.
Rococo
The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed
to that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design
is more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often
gilded with gold and other precious metals. The colour palette is muted and emphasis is placed on
the design rather than the

Court Reporting Restrictions
The principle of open justice is an essential part for creating public confidence in the judicial
administration process in the UK and has been for over a century. Thus, in Scott v Scott Lord
Atkinson provides that a public trial is the best security for the pure, impartial and efficient
administration of justice...and the best means for winning public confidence and respect .
However, open justice is not an absolute right, and there are circumstances where open court
proceedings would defeat the object of the case. Consequently, the family justice system has a range
of court reporting restrictions which have in effect restricted the open rule principle, but have
prevented` people, in particular children, from being exploited by the media in administrating

restrictions in the family courts, are problematic for family proceedings when compared to being

court reporting restrictions cause, but in a need to make the court more transparent has made the

You Cant Cross The Sea Merely By Standing And Staring At...
When Rabindranath Tagore states You can t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the
water, he is suggesting that you can t achieve your life goals just by thinking and hoping about
them. You actually have to work very hard and try to achieve that goal. The author is claiming that
you actually needto work for your goals. For example the Everest climbers had a lot to risk and a
lot to lose but they still climbed the mountain anyway because they knew that they wouldn t get to
the top of that mountain just from hoping they would get carried up there.
This quote relates to extreme sports because if you want to do an extreme sport really badly like

actually have to want to jump out of that helicopter and take the risk yourself. As we see in the in

to wingsuit flying. But that man new the risks of the sport and he took it anyway, because he

Police And Police Brutality
It comes to the point where no one becomes safe as one walks outside the front door of the
house. Leaving the minorities questioning if they will ever be safe in the streets again. Not
everyone in the world is a criminal, but it only takes one person to ruin and blame the whole race.
Police brutality is an everyday case and there has yet nothing to be done to help reduce nor stop the
violence. Often people critic the duty and the responsibilities that a policeofficer has in this county.
Their duty is far from just eating donuts and drinking coffee. The first thing someone does when
they feel like their life or someone s life is in danger, is call 911 expecting that the law

Is there really anything that will help solve or at least help reduce the abuse of power that police
officers exercise on the citizens of this country?
The victims who suffer of police brutality are traumatized and do not know who to trust after
they have experienced such a heinous act against them. It starts by recognizing that the United
States has a problem with the use of excessive force in policing. Protests and riots are little
effective. The police departments take it into consideration to have a more diverse and women
officers, but the problem has gone too far already. The problem should have never started to
begin with. This is a multicultural and a very diverse country where one bumps into someone of
a different race and culture anywhere. Double marginality is practiced on a day to day base. In
Criminal Justice in Action, This term refers to a situation in which minority officers are viewed
with suspicion by both sides (Gaines and Miller 149). Even if this were true, policing is more
effective if an African American or Hispanic patrol in a more diverse community. Police officers
create a more one on one professional relationship with the residents of the community. The
residents wouldn t see the police officers as threats in their communities anymore, but that they are
there to help. They would feel a lot more comfortable and safe knowing they can step outside their

Earth Club Monologue
Derek always treats me like a queen. Every week he gives me a new mixtape of songs that
remind him of my eyes or smile. To be completely honest, he gives me so many mixtapes that I
ve started giving them to Charlie. He really enjoys it. Derek also supports my environmental
beliefs. The other day in the cafeteria at school, he tried using a plastic fork. But I encouraged
that he use a metal fork because 1) He is earth club treasurer and 2) I believe small acts like that
can really help the environment for the better. Although he didn t want to, he did it because it
meant a lot to me. His simple acts of kindness made me feel so special and warm inside. I never

No matter what issue would come up in Candice s life she wouldn t tell anyone, she would just
internalize it. She did everything she could to make it look like she had it all without any
problems. She wanted to be perfect for everyone else, even though it didn t make her completely
happy. The one person who made her feel less alone and happy was Derek. Derek made Candice
feel better about herself because she was able to tell him things he need to get done. Patrick
explains how girls choose boys who have problems so they feel as though they have a purpose.
A purpose meaning they can work on them and try to change them into want they want. And
because Candice comes from a middle class family, she isn t to familiar with the hardships that
Derek may be going through so she begins to feel that Derek needs her for moral support. When
Derek hit her, she took the blame and told Charlie that she was okay and that she could handle it.
Candice took the responsibility for Derek hitting her, like most women do in abusive
relationships because she really loved him and believed he would change. Since Candice
internalized her problems, she pushed people away who wanted to help her. She thought she
had all the answers. Once she was pregnant she no longer had any answers she just broke down
because Derek left her once he found out. All she had left was Charlie to look too for help. Even
though Candice was mean to Charlie for so long, he was still there for her when she needed him.
This part of the book helped reunite their brother and sister bond. At this point Candice was sad,
yet still hopeful. She knew that she still had her family support and college ahead but as of right
now the saddest would slowly go

Everyone has had a different journey of getting to college. Now that I have gotten to college I
want to reflect on my journey from Southeast High School to the University of Central Florida
(UCF). I will be talking about my past experiences as a high school student and I want to talk
about some challenges I experienced so far. Also, I want to tell you about how collegehas been so
far. I would also like to tell you how my professors would describe me. In all, I will have talked
about what went well in high school, some challenges, my college experiences and also how my
professors would describe me, this will have shown you my college journey so far. I went to a
relatively small high school by the name of Southeast High School during the four years there I
did the IB program, which had an even smaller class around forty five kids. There are three
experiences I would like to talk about. One experience would be my participation in the IB
program, which allowed me to be better prepared for college. Having a IB class under fifty
allowed for many of the students to succeed in every class and on the IB exams. My family was
very supported in my decision to join the IB program. Secondly, since the first day of middle
school, I was involved in an origination called the Technology Student Association (TSA), I
continued this club onto high school and I plan on becoming a alumni. I competed in various
events while in TSA I won multiple district, state and national trophies but I could

Speech On A Parol Circuit
Making a parol is really hard especially with lights in it. It was hard and fun at the same time. In
order for us to start doing it we designed and make our circuit plan. In doing our parol circuit we
trodden with different electronics material like resistor, capacitor, transformer and a lot more.
This is not new to me and to others but at the same time my knowledge into it widens. Our parol
is one of the biggest and widest it was really hard and we thought that we could not finish it on
the allotted time given. But with unity and team work we are able to finish it. All of us have a
different role or task to make. I still remember the time that after school we would immediately go
to Jake house and finish it. It was exhausting but it is all worth it in the end seeing it light for the
first time takes away all of the sweat and tiredness away.

In its simplest form, a capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an insulating
material called the dielectric. The capacitance is measured in units of Farad (F). The capacitor
disconnects current in direct current (DC) circuits and short circuit in alternating current (AC)
circuits. Large capacitors are used in the power supplies of electronic equipment of all types,
including computers and their peripherals.
Resistor
Resistors are electronic components which have a specific, never changing electrical resistance. The
resistor s resistance limits the flow of electrons through a circuit. They are passive components,
meaning they only consume power (and can t generate it). Resistors are usually added to circuits
where they complement active components like op amps, microcontrollers, and other integrated
circuits. Commonly resistors are used to limit current, divide voltages, and pull up I/O lines. The
electrical resistance of a resistor is measured in ohms.

to identify the significance of students becoming literate and its substantial benefits for twenty first
century learners.
Information and Knowledge
Information literacy and the associated skills are a well known commodity in a school librarian s
world. Information specialists are charged with various methods, processes, and means to guide
students in their information seeking strategies. One the leading methods commonly practiced is
Guided Inquiry where students learn a step by step procedure to determine, locate, use, and digest
information needed to answer an inquiry and/or complete a task (Kuhlthau, Maniotes, Caspari,
2007). Hamilton (2009), reports that education is now comprised of multiple literacies causing a
shift towards inquiry based learning. Due to the transformation based on digital, visual,
technological, and textual advancements, school librarians are essential in students obtaining a
foundation for information literacy.

Simpson (2007) added that multidisciplinary input co ordinated by a case manager is a key feature
of most case management models in Australia and that case managers are more likely to be mental
health professionals (Simpson 2007). Contemporary mental health services use several models of
case management, such as the brokerage, clinical, strengths, rehabilitation, intensive case
management and assertive community treatment (ACT) models.
Preston amp; Fazio (2000) described one of case management models known as the intensive case
management program as a mobile multidisciplinary team, consisting of a psychiatrist, community
mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists. Elder, Evans amp; Nizette (2007)
stipulated that the majority of treatment occurs within the community, including medication
management and mental health examinations. Elder and his colleagues identified operational
definitions of the intensive case management as low patient to staff ratio, most services provided in
the community, rather than in the office, assignment of patients to a dedicated case manager, time
unlimited service and most services provided directly by the intensive case management team and
not brokered out (Elder, Evans amp; Nizette 2007).

as high service users that is, the severely mentally ill and has been found effective in engaging

  • 3. Essay about Arthurian Romances Arthurian Romances The Middle Ages of Europe were governed by a system which is referred to as feudalist. The people of this system flow together well; society in these times require noble people to set the example for the younger. The ranks of the noble include counts, lords, knights, kings, queens, etc. These noblemen can be compared to as dueling politicians; they watch over their communities, keeping everything orderly, and they fend off any attackers trying to besiege land. The peace keeper of the society is the knight. The knight has been appointed the position of knight by a king because his traits and characteristic best fit the standards of a good warrior and protector of the civilization. A knight... To his wife he has total respect and love to give, but he isn t hesitant when telling her to stay put. The story puts the knight in a high class because he is extremely helpful to the community. (1) Chretien De Troyes, Arthurian Romances, Trans. William W. Kibler (New York: Penguin Books, 1991) p. 89 The knight prays constantly to his God for protection. He fights others in battles with an extremely high risk of death, so he likes to profess a faith. Erec of Lac is honored by his community of Christians for his heroics and courage. His faith is necessary to keep his beautiful wife. They use religion to establish trust in their relationship to ensure happiness together. Knighthood is only developed for the man because women are only seen as maid servants. Authority feel that a woman cannot possess all the qualities of a knight so they put them to work as maids. The only women who have high ranks in the feudalist system are those who are married to the noble ranks. Otherwise, women will marry into poverty where they will remain for the rest of their time. • 4. Tar Sands, By Jon Brownell Tar Sands EssayJon Brownell The Alberta Tar Sands are large deposits of bitumen,a sticky, black and viscous semi solid form of petroleum.(Merriam Webster) The bitumen is extracted from the earth and separated from materials that are not petroleum. This process consumes both water from the Athabasca River drainage basin and energy. While emissions from the water used are low the airborne pollutants contain more than 350 kilograms of cancer causing chemicals every four months.(Kelly) Also, bitumen is one of the least efficient power sources in the world.(Rapier) The Tar Sands are dangerous for people to live near, are environmentally damaging and unsustainable and are an inefficient source of power compared to other sources available in Canada. While the Tar Sands are currently good for the canadian economy, in the long term they will cost us more than they make. The content of cancer causing chemicals like PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is twice as high as the standard recommended by the national oceanic and atmospheric administration in the United States. These levels have been observed to cause liver cancer in fish. (Timoney 68) Fish from Lake Athabasca have been found with deformities other than liver cancer, like lumps or bumps. Cancer levels in people who live in Fort Chipewyan are much higher than in other parts of the country.(McLachlan 17) The Government of Canada says that the risk of cancer is small because people do not eat animals from the area ... Copper Synthesis Lab Report Electrolysis of copper sulfate has great importance in the mining industry as it is a better metal extraction process compared to simply mining the ore from the rocks. This is because electrolysis refines copper so that the copper is high quality and removes the impurities of it. This is particularly important for the copperto be used in industrial processes. The ionic substance must be dissolved in water or molten so that the ions are free to move during the process. During electrolysis, oxidation and reduction takes place. Positively charged ions move to the negative electrode (cathode) where they receive electrons. This is called reduction. Negatively charged ions move to the positive electrode (anode) where they are oxidised meaning they lose electrons. This causes different elements to be formed at the different ... • 6. Review Of Writing A Wall Street Op To begin with, Flash Boys is terrible. It is not just a major whiff, but a travesty. And it really ticked me off. Lewis had a major incentive to over hype the story, as he all but admitted. I fully agree with Cliff Asness of AQR Capital, who wrote in a Wall Street op ed: Making mountains out of molehills sells more books than a study of molehills. That is more or less what happened here. Lewis wanted to sell a lot of books. He wanted to capture lightning in a bottle (to use his own phrase). He captured irresponsible hyperbole instead. In Flash Boys, Lewis immense talent as a writer works against him. He is a master of storycraft of telling a complex story through the lens of key players. But when the actual story is distorted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet for Lewis it barely rates a paragraph. Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, published in 1923, is the fictionalized version of Jesse Livermore s true story. A key point in the story is when Livermore (aka Larry Livingston) goes from trading in the bucket shops to actually trading real equities on the exchanges, by way of the ticker tape. In this book, more than 90 years old now, Livermore talks about how his bucket shop trading style had to adjust because instant fills were not available in the real world. He talked of a lag in the tape that forced him to adjust his style. Sound familiar? Liquidity has always been an issue. The more size you want to move, the more of an issue it becomes. There has always been a need for middlemen to provide it, and friction / incentive issues in doing so, ever since the fabled meeting under the Buttonwood tree. In the late 1980s, the Justice department busted 46 traders and brokers in the Chicago trading pits. The stealing had gotten so bad, the FBI came onto the trading floor. At the turn of the 21st century, the stealing was still bad. I was an international commodity broker as my first job out of school circa 1998. We had lots of hedge clients, and did a lot of business with futures giant Refco (who later imploded in a fireball of corruption). I remember countless screaming conversations ... One of our arguably most important positions in the American government, the supreme court justice does in fact not have a term limit. • 8. The Three Categories Of Civil Peace With every object that people have and every experience that people go though, they can be categorized into three categories: needs, wants, and negatives. Wants and needs, the two positive categories, are prioritized differently by everyone. People often misinterpret some parts of these categories, believing certain wants are needs and vice versa. For example, some people see makeup as a needto go outside, it is really just a want. This is how addictions form. When people categorize a want as need, however subconsciously, they end up truly needing that, whether it be drugs, alcohol, or even sugar. On the other hand, when people prioritize their wants, they often will be happier in life, even though they are in worse situations than many of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, in Warriors Don t Cry, Melba s family feared for her safety, but they also felt that the push for integration was a god given mission, (Melba 3). • 9. Positive Effects Of The Green Revolution The term Green Revolution was first used in 1968 when people realized that a revolution in agriculture was taking place. In this revolution many technology transfer initiatives were created which led to a drastic increase of production worldwide as well as innovative ideas that created large supplies of food very quickly. Incorporating technological ideas such as mechanization, which led to the massive increase of production of food at the expense of creating larger but fewer farms, is what really gave headway to the mass production of food. With the creation of so much food there needed to be advancements in the way we grew our food such as synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and GMOs. With these technological changes in the way food was farmed and produced many people were able to benefit from the outcomes of the Green Revolution. The food was able to be made and sold so cheaply that the revolution, to some degree, helped alleviate world hunger by providing people with food that diversified their diet. However, with these changes in agriculturecame changes in the socio economy. Many small farms went into debt and lost their land while the wealthier farms were able to grow the amount of land they had, thereby giving rise to new ways of farming, like monoculture farming. Overall, the Green Revolution changed the world in both positive and negative ways. By using new and old technologies to create a system where food could be made cheaply and at large quantities, we see many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay on A Written Study of Edward Scissorhands A Written Study of Edward Scissorhands In the film Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton creates a suburban fantasy by explaining his interpretation of what it is like to live in a suburb. The definition of suburb is living in the outskirts of a town and having limited interests and narrow minded views. Tim Burton creates suburbia and practically makes a parody of the suburb where the family live. The women typify the definition of a suburban housewife; they stay at home, clean and cook. They are always on each others doorsteps trying to get the latest gossip and they always know what everyone is up too. Tim Burton mixes this with his imagination making it a suburban fantasy. He does this by creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michael Keaton plays Beetlejuice and Batman but is also in other Tim Burton Films. Winona Ryder plays Kim in Edward Scissorhands and the little girl in Beetlejuice she has also played different parts in other Tim Burton films one of them was Mars Attacks. Tim Burton uses the same actors because he has worked with them before and knows if they can do it he also knows that he could rely on them. In Edward Scissorhands there is a typical stereotype castle where Edward was created, in contrast with the house in Beetlejuice where the couple that lived there died and now haunt it, so it s the same idea and I think that Tim Burton Is trying to say to the audience that these big houses are haunted and things do lurk around in the night. Why he has the same idea twice could be because he wants to get his point across in different ways so that people will see his views and take notice of them I think he is trying to influence the audience. Another similarity was that when Edward is brought down from his home he has to learn to socialise compared to Beetlejuice when the couple die they have to learn the rules of the dead, so again the idea is the same. In both films Tim Burton creates black humour by making a joke of Edwards struggle to get along in the community and the fact that a couple have died and now they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavioral Effects Of Cannabis Cannabis contains more than 400 different chemicals including phytocannabinoids, terpenoids and essential oils (ElSohly and Slade, 2005); however, the behavioral effects of cannabis (i.e. euphoria, relaxation, anxiety, confusion, memory loss, and paranoia) are primarily the result of the psychoactive ingredient, О”9 tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) (Adams and Martin, 1996; Wachtel et al., 2002; Hall and Degenhardt, 2009). The behavioral effects of THC are largely mediated by its action as a partial agonist at the G protein coupled cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptor, which is the most abundantly expressed G protein coupled receptor in the brain. One particularly sensitive method for analysis of pure solvent (applicable to wells containing DNAPL) involves combustion of the chlorinated hydrocarbon sample with CuO, precipitation of AgCl and formation of CH3Cl for analysis on IRMS [10]. Isotopic ratios are expressed in the delta notation, Оґ, which represents the per mil variation of the isotopic ratio standard. For carbon, the 13C/12C ratio is established by the Pee Dee Belemnite international standard and 37Cl/35Cl ratio is compared to the Standard Mean Ocean Chloride (SMOC) standard by the following equation: Оґ13C or Оґ37Cl = (Rsample/Rstandard 1) * 1000. Comparison of the deltas for both compounds as part of a multi isotopic approach will provide greater confidence in the determination of the plume source by providing a more fine tuned view of chlorinated solvent signatures compared to single isotope analysis, particularly under consideration that Оґ37Cl values are typically within a much smaller range than that of Оґ13C. Laboratory Quality Control The laboratory will utilize a variety of quality control sample types as shown in Table 3. • 15. Cultural Factors In The Sociocultural Environment There are many things in life that influence our development in some shape or form. Whether in a positive or negative way, influence is something that surrounds us, our children and family and may determine the way we develop. We are all prone to influences in our environment. Although there are many factors that influence us, one specific example are the sociocultural factors we are surrounded by in our everyday lives. This paper will be discussing the strengths and weaknesses in the sociocultural environmentthat influence both children and families. Growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, having neglectful parents, or simply going through natural disasters are a few negative ways sociocultural factors may influence the way children and families develop. There are many people living in safe neighborhoods but there is also a decent amount of families who are living in very dangerous areas. There are areas in this city where crime is rarely ever seen, but there are also many areas where crime is seen on a daily basis and many families are going through that and have to either see it or live through it. This impacts a child a whole lot because they grow up hearing about people getting shot, people drug dealing, being addicted to alcohol and a variety of negative lifestyles children and families should not have to live through. Sadly, sometimes in between all this going on, children grow up having parents that may always be working or worse, be criminals. The parents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an important example in the history of the transition in England from clinker (edge joined planks) to carvel (frame orientated) shipbuilding style, a progression with interesting implications on the design process. At the same time, the growing artillery requirements required innovations in gun port design and hull reinforcement. When Henry VIII became King in 1509, he had few warships. The Battle Of New Orleans Battle of New Orleans Cade Northcutt 1st Period November 20th, 2014 American independence from Great Britain was at first all just a dream from new American colonists. The Battle of New Orleans during 1815 served as a key victory in the War of 1812 and helped shape the future pathway of a new, independent nation, the United States of America. Many battles during the War of 1812 had led to the success of America s second war of independence. British impressment was a major cause of starting the War of 1812. British naval ships were capturing American troops on ships and forcing them to join British forces unwillingly. This did not go lightly with American forces. America soon took on Britain s powerful navy and army during a period of two and a half years of battle, leading up to the Battle of New Orleans. Staring off, the first successful American battle during 1814 was the Battle of Chippewa. This battle occurred on the borders of Canada, with plans of American forces to seize British forts, located in areas all over Canada. Surprisingly, the American forces outnumbered the British in this attack, ratio being an army of around 4,000 versus the British 2,500 men. The two forces collided at Chippewa, a Canadian plain on July 5th, 1814. Being the first battle of face to face combat during the War of 1812, American forces walked away with the victory. As I mentioned earlier, it was rare to find black lawyers during that time, especially in the South, as they were seen as threats to the social order. It was also unlikely that a judge would appoint a black lawyer to defend a black man in a rape trial as black lawyers risked physical injury or even death by doing so. They were run out of towns and physically assaulted if they represented black men accused of any crime by white people. The situation was similar for white lawyers. Although the rape of black women was common during that time, the legal system and history about that time period denied the fact that black women were subjected to sexual assault. The most troubling fact, though, is that black women were much more vulnerable to rape than white women were. White mobs used the rape of black women as a way to terrorize black people and black women were exposed to sexual aggression from their employers as they worked outside their homes in contrast to white women who worked inside their homes. Despite all of these facts, it was highly unlikely for a black victim s case to go to trial and even if it did, the defendants were mostly protected by prejudices against black women. Even the special doctrinal rules applied to black defendants were not applied when victims were black women. As Wriggins says, By using disparate procedures, the court implicitly makes two assertions. Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members should behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The culture of an organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture is dynamic, always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are 7 elements of culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines, performances and values (class notes, Oct. 25). We can own many intangible and tangible items in life, but how does ownership relate to a sense and development of self? This question has been constantly answered for centuries through intelligent people like Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. However, the question has received no agreeable answer. In the end, people will agree that there is a strong and positive relationship between ownership and a sense of selfbecause the things you own will define and develop who you are positively by exhibiting what you like, what you can and cannot do, and in the end, characterizes you, as long as you use the things you own properly. Jean Paul Sartre argues that intangible items such as skill and knowledge is something that we own and defines who we are, since acquiring skill and knowledge makes us better in different aspects of life. He also argues the tangible aspects of life that we own also defines us. By saying this, Sartre is agreeing that when we own something such as knowledge, it will shape our sense of selfand identitysince it makes us a better person when we use our own knowledge to benefit our own selves and others, thus showing a strong and positive relationship between ownership and sense of self and identity. Malcolm and his friends Jib and Diggy are nerdy high school seniors who bond over anything 90s related, play music together in their punk band, and have grown up together in The Bottoms, in Inglewood, California. Malcolm was trying to escape a gang one day when he had an encounter with a neighborhood drug dealer named Dom. Dom ended up invited him to his birthday party, and with hesitation, Malcolm and his friends decide to go. After an eventful night, Malcolm and his friends later discover that Dom had stashed a handgun and a large amount of drugs in his backpack to hide it from the police who raided the party. The rest of the movie plays out into a war over the drugs that Malcolm accidentally possessed. Malcolm ends up selling the drugs and promises Dom s prominent supplier, who was also coincidentally Malcolm s college interviewer, the profits made from the drugs. Malcolm makes this deal with him only as long as he helps Malcolm achieve his goal of getting into Harvard. What Are The Similarities Between Baroque And Baroque Eras Introduction European design has evolved over the centuries from the Renaissance era of the 15th century to Baroque era of the 16th century right through to the Rococo era of the late 1700 s. Even though the style might have changed, some elements can be traced across all three periods. This essay will explore the similarities and differences in the aforementioned eras by singling out 4 different examples from these eras and how these influenced or affected the society and patrons who commissioned these artworks at that time. Emphasis will be placed on specific examples that best demonstrate the style of each era. After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was more dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the emotional depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art, 1933:284). Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the ostentatious interiors homes of the elite and the church was highly decorated. Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to create depth and realism. The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect. Rococo The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed to that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design is more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often gilded with gold and other precious metals. Thus, in Scott v Scott Lord Atkinson provides that a public trial is the best security for the pure, impartial and efficient administration of justice...and the best means for winning public confidence and respect . However, open justice is not an absolute right, and there are circumstances where open court proceedings would defeat the object of the case. You actually have to want to jump out of that helicopter and take the risk yourself. As we see in the in the article, A Solemn Warning to Wingsuit Flyers , that a man named Geoffrey Robson died due to wingsuit flying. Parameters such as amplitude of oscillatory and acoustic wave, radius of bubble and number of methanol molecules which have effect on bubble kinetics are more pronounced at frequency of 20 KHz. And this frequency is able to maintain cavitation effect in reaction medium. So 20 KHz can be considered as optimum frequency and used for further simulations. 5.3 Effect of reaction temperature: Reaction medium (ambient) temperature plays crucial role in controlling bubble dynamics. Impact of ambient temperature on bubble dynamics is shown below. A. Methanol as liquid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
