As a result, 300,000 troops were sent to Beijing, leading to widespread arrests and
deaths. This event is extremely important because it led to more intense sanctions on
the citizens of China the opposite of what they hoped. The government responded by

promise is especially heard in high school, when students discuss their college plans.

to venture out to different states and countries far away from home? In Poetryof
Departures, Philip Larkin(the poet) states that there are only two types of people
those who leave, and those who stay. From the very start of this poem, he declares
We all hate home And having to be there.. . Most people would say that this is a
false statement; not all of us hate home.On the contrary, most of us have been the
ones saying that we are anxious to leave. So from the beginning, the poet has us
questioning if we truly do hate home enough to leave it. Next, he makes a personal
statement, I detest my room...And my life, in perfect order.. . Here, Larkin sounds
ungrateful and unsatisfied with the simple luxuries he has, which are things we
often take for granted. The sudden use of negativity in the first stanza is very
important. He could have said I have good books, a good bed, and a nice house,
but I am unhappy , however, this would lead the reader into believing that he is
unhappy despite having these things. But because he makes it clear that he is
unhappy before he lists all of the good things he has, it gives off the impression
that he is unhappy because of these things, which is Larkin s intention. In the next
stanza, he starts to compare his life to other s. He mentions how he heard that one
man walked out on the whole crowd , and this leaves him feeling uncomfortable. It
is not normal for someone to go against the majority, and Larkin acknowledges that.

Director Michael Mann releases his movie Public Enemy to the public on July 1,
2009. This nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny
Depp) fascinates the viewers with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold
bravery of his gangster style bank robberies during the Depression era of America s
greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), Pretty
Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), and Evelyn Billie
Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal agents with
their burglaries through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J.

she is playing with teachers, but when she is playing with a child who is more

A Juggalo is someone who is a die hard fan of the Insane Clown Posse or any group
from the Psychopathic Records label. It s a spinoff of the punk subculture, making it

an Insane Clown Posse concert and has ballooned as an identifier and widely
recognized name. Many Juggalos have tattoos identifying themselves with their

history. Both the book and movie have been recognised as classic literature for
children and adults alike. Although they share the same concept, there are a few
important differences between the novel and the film.
In the movie: It tells the story of a girl named Dorothy, who ends up in a tornado
and gets hurled away from her farm in Kansas to a land that is not like anything
she has experienced before. After Dorothy s house falls and kills the Wicked
Witch in the first scene, Dorothy is welcomed by the Munchkins. The kind witch,
Glinda, appears and explains to Dorothy that in order to find out about getting
back home, she needs to follow the yellow brick road. This road leads her to
Emerald city, where she must ask the grand Wizard to get her back to Kansas. Along
her way down the yellow brick road Dorothy encounters some characters who all
have something they want to ask the wizard. However, when they finally arrive at the
Emerald City, they discover the wizard is just a fraud and that everything they had
been searching for they can find deep within themselves (metaphorically rather than
physically).

two. Both Updike and Oates short stories focused on the sexuality of younger girls
and force the main characters to make a life changing decision. Leaving their
innocence behind, whether they like it or not, by the end of the stories, Sammy and
Connie have come into adulthood. Throughout comparing and contrasting the stories
point of view, main characters, parent involvement, antagonists, and ending of the
stories, you ll come to see that they are coming of age stories. Both John Updike s
and Joyce Carol Oatesshort stories were published in the 1960 s and focused on the
