Essay On Smoking
Writing an essay on the topic of smoking can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly, it's
a highly controversial subject with deeply entrenched opinions on both sides. This means that
presenting a balanced and nuanced argument requires extensive research and careful
consideration of various viewpoints.
Secondly, the topic of smoking encompasses a wide range of subtopics, including health effects,
social impacts, economic factors, and government regulations. Navigating through this vast
amount of information and selecting relevant points to include in the essay can be daunting.
Additionally, there's the emotional aspect of the topic. Smoking is not just a habit; it's often
deeply intertwined with personal experiences, cultural norms, and societal attitudes. Addressing
these emotional aspects while maintaining objectivity and professionalism in the essay requires a
delicate balance.
Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on smoking requires eloquence and persuasive writing
skills. Convincing readers to consider your perspective amidst the myriad of existing opinions
demands a strong command of language and rhetoric.
In summary, writing an essay on the topic of smoking is no easy task. It demands extensive
research, sensitivity to diverse perspectives, and strong persuasive skills. However, with
dedication and careful planning, it's possible to produce a well-structured and impactful piece of
writing on this complex subject.

The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia
The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act
And the No Child Left Behind Act
Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law
or mandate, states and local governments must comply Federal mandates are
requirements that the national government imposes on state and local governments.
Following these requirements are often a condition for the state or local governments
to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these mandates
come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and
local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called
unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal
Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of Virginia must comply with is the
Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act. Virginia has
complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a
disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has
reformed its public education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
was put into place in 1990 to ensure that people could not discriminate against those
with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were newly disabled American
veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for the
disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s, veterans from World War II, the Korean
War, and the Vietnam War saw
Barack Obama Rhetorical Devices
The road to becoming president is rockier than a mountain trail. Through all the
ups and downs, a Presidential candidate must stay calm and do what is necessary
to win. That is exactly what soon to be President Barack Obama did back in 2008.
Through this crisis risen scenario, he didn t budge, he didn t change, he didn t back
down. He stepped up to the stage, swung, and hit a homerun with his speech by
sticking to simple literature basics, and putting rhetorical devices one after another,
from start to finish of the speech. By reciting this well written speech with many
rhetorical devices used, Barack Obamawas not only able to save voters who might
have switched candidates, but he was able to swing voters from the opposing party
to his. Without a doubt, Barack Obama was able to steal the hearts of... Show more

He first brings across this suggestion through the use of parallel structure when
explaining through what ways younger generations should take action to stop this
terrible act of selfishness. Through Barack Obama s vision, younger generations
must be willing to do their part through protests and struggles, on the streets and in
courts, through a civil war and civil disobedience just as their previous ancestors
did in a time like this before them (1). By using this sentence structure and letting
the audience really try to bite down on what he is saying, it allows him to truly
emphasize what Americans can do to help obtain racial equality between the two
ideas. Using parallel structure in the way the Illinois Senator did, allowed him to
successfully compare the young generations of today, to the previous generations that
fought and won the civil war. He found a perfect way to express to young
generations, what part they can take to bury racial inequality in the ground for

The Death Of Franz Ferdinand
The death of Franz Ferdinand in 1914 started the chain of war declarations
eventually leading to the Great War, later known as World War I. Involving 32
countries and almost every continent, this total war between the Allies and the
Central powers is one of the most brutal wars to date. The Red Cross provided
support to those fighting in the war and those who were not. The Red Cross
positively impacted both the people affected by World War I
and the world. This was
done by assisting both soldiers and their families during war, providing jobs for
women, and helping to evolve humanitarian law.
The International Committee of the Red Cross, or the ICRC, was founded in Geneva,
Switzerland by Henry Dunant, a Swiss businessman, in 1863. Its primary purpose
was to provide medical assistance to soldiers in the field. The ICRC also tried to
develop international humanitarian law to guarantee the protection of human dignity
(Forsythe). In addition, the Red Cross was a neutral organization, meaning that they
did not support either side of the conflict exclusively. This meant that they provided
care for both sides of the conflict. These guidelines were outlined in 1864 at the first
Geneva Convention. In Articles 1 and 2, it is stated that ambulances and military
hospitals shall be acknowledged to be neutral and persons employed in hospitals and
ambulances, comprising the staff for superintendence, medical service,
administration, transport of the wounded, as well as chaplains,

Napeone Biography
NapolГ©one was born during the Feast of the Assumption on a couch in the living
room of his parent s gorgeous house on August 15th, 1769, in Ajaccio, Corsica,
France. Napoleon was the second of eight surviving children. Carlo Buonaparte, a
lawyer, and Letizia Romalino Buonaparte were his parents. Letizia was able to
attend Mass often and named NapolГ©one after an Egyptian religious figure. His
father was a member of a noble Italian family, and he remained on good terms with the
French when they took over control of Corsica. Although his parents were members
of the minor Corsican nobility, the family was not wealthy. As a child, he attended
school in mainland France, where he had learned the French language. At age ten, he

1821, at age 51, most likely from a stomach cancer. (During his time in power,
Napoleon often posed for paintings with his hand in his vest, leading to some
speculation after his death that he had been plagued by stomach pain for years.)
Napoleon was buried on the island even though he had requested to be laid to rest

Bonaparte s remains were returned to France and entombed in a crypt at Les

Mary Lindberg s Analysis
Mary s reign was built on reestablishing Catholic connections and pulling back the
protestant reformation. Lindberg commented that Mary s catholic upbringing was
important because from a purely non theological perspective [Mary] had to be
Catholic in order to be the legitimate heir to the throne. Politically, as the daughter
of Catherine of Aragon, she had a reason to bring in her religion and rule strictly in
order to save her people from mortal sin by restoring papal obedience. In her
estimate, it was the pope who tried to save her mother s modesty and good name
where the hedonistic church powers in England dismissed her and her mother when
they became an inconvenience. During her reign, she persecuted and killed many

The Vitality Strategy Of Australia
Introduction
Australia has one of the world s best and greatest sunlight based vitality assets, yet
today short of what 1% of our power is created from this clean vitality source. Also
regardless of 10 years of government renewable vitality targets we at present create
just around 7% of our power from renewable vitality sources.
We re attempting to help fabricate the right arrangements to open a blast in clean

the planet. Coal and regular gas, alongside oil based items, are presently the essential
wellsprings of Australian vitality utilization, in spite of the way that the coal business
creates pretty nearly 38% of Australia s aggregate nursery gas discharges.

Cause And Effects Of Tsunamis
Tsunamis are one of the most destructive natural disasters. A series of waves in an
ocean or lake caused by the displacement of a large body of water is known as a
tsunami, meaning harbor wave in Japanese. A tsunami is also known as a tidal wave
or seismic sea wave. Their wavelength is much longer than a typical sea wave,
therefore tsunamis do not resemble normal undersea currents. Instead of appearing as
a breaking wave, a tsunamimay instead resemble a very tall tide or wave. Unlike
typical wind generated ocean waves, tsunamis are not caused by the gravitational
pull of the Sun and Moon but instead are generated by the displacement of water.
Tsunamis are very destructive and their causes and impact to the environment and to
humans show this; so, looking at and understanding a past example of a devastating
tsunami and preparing for one in the future can help save lives and lessen the overall
damage.
There are several main causes of a tsunami. Doubtlessly, the most damaging tsunamis
are caused by earthquakes with a fault line near the ocean floor, or even underwater.
Researchers from the International Tsunami Research Center say that sudden vertical
displacement over large areas, displace water and end up creating destructive tsunami
waves (What Causes Tsunamis). Less periodically, submarine landslides can motivate
a tsunami. The United States Geological Survey conducted research and have found
that Tsunamis can be generated on impact as a rapidly moving landslide mass
Sacrifice and Identity Essay
Topic: Belonging to a group always involves sacrificing aspects of one s identity
Identity is the set of behavioral or personal characteristics by which an individual is
recognizable as a member of a group. Each people have their own personality, being
different and unique from other people. Even though it s different, each people have
some similarity with others that connected them together as a community or a group.
However, these groups is not open for all people, some people have to sacrifice their
aspects of identity in order to belong to the group that they want to join.
For some groups, belonging does require sacrificing individual identity and this
occurs when the groups are the dominant and require the identity of the group to ...

There are some groups that none of us has any choice in whether we belong to
them or not. Factors such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at
birth, groups that we belong to, yet cannot choose, and many of these endure
throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even social status can be
altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s
identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even
more important as in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even
religion actively create individual identity.
As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we
want to find belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a
football club or friendship group, to more life altering choices such as being a
member of a political party or protest group such as Green peace. As individuals
make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to increase
and from their ever changing sense of self. Such choices can also be made after life
altering circumstances, such as when people feel a need to join victim s group or
support groups when they or a loved one contract a chronic or terminal illness.
Statement of Intention: This essay is written in formal form with the topics of
identity and belonging. With this piece of writing, the audience that I m targeting is

Cultural Impact Of The Beatles And Frank Zappa

cultural and political impact on the Anglosphere. What the Beatles and Frank Zappa
have meant for the people during their musical career? What was their cultural

The Beatles are generally considered to be the best band in the history of popular
music. This is mainly due to the influence they had on other bands and musicians all

similar style and sounding became known as beatlesque.

Population Growth And Economic Development
The global demographic trend has become a subject of discussion by researchers,
policymakers, and the mass media. Economic performance in any country is, to a
substantial degree, affected by the country s demographic situation. In recent decades,
the developed countries have been experiencing declining fertility rates that caused
serious shortages of the workforce. Besides, the plunging fertility rates have led to the
phenomenon called ageing populationwhich has become a socio economic reality in
many developed countries and which has put a big strain on their pension systems.
Furthermore, in 2014, there was a campaign tagged Do it for Denmark where Danes
were encouraged to go for more babies to check the decreasing birth rates. On the
other hand, the poor economic performance of especially developing economies is
related to their demographic growth; therefore, funds are allocated for campaign
against their population growth. The importance of the relationship between
population growth and economic developmenthas been well recognized by
development economists. As Dawson and Tiffin (1998: 149) have pointed out, most
textbooks on economic development include a section on population and
development .
Despite the fact that there are numerous research studies on the relationship between
population and economic development, there is no universal consensus as to whether
population expansion is beneficial, detrimental or neutral to economic growth.

Sitcoms Argumentative Essay
Compromises to Satisfy Network Profit Motives A sitcom, is short for situation
comedy , it is a genre of television centered on an established set of characters.
Sitcoms originated in radio, but throughout the years and the increased popularity
they are now generally found on television. Ccountless sitcoms have been aired over
the generations creating a multimillion dollar revenue for this genre. Broadcasters use
manipulating strategies to determine the production of shows that would air on their

Constraints decrease the producer s ability to enter a risk due to limited time, thus
causing a stereotype on their characters, producers, casting directors and casting
agencies freely admit the stereotyping but argue its necessity on the basis of time
and dramatic constraints (Butsch, 2011, pg. 107). Producers are given limited
time to select actors, typecasting is the easier and quicker alternative. The two
week time period to complete a full production of one episode is quite short,
producers are pressured to stick to what is familiar to them. Sitcoms have made a
significant contribution to our culture s attitude toward the presumptions that a
man who made a living with his hands is immature, irresponsible and lacing
common sense. In the show Kevin Can Wait , the leading male character Kevin, is
basically your standard shlubby husband. Kevin is a retired police officer who is
excited to spend the rest of his life doing what he wants when he wants it. However,
his wife Donna is a school nurse and is very on top of their retirement savings as
well as their children s lives. Portraying the stereotype for Kevin as the immature,

The Impact Of Internet On Consumer Shopping Habits

sustainable. Nick states, In short, location based marketing is NOT a fad, NOT a
trend, and IS going to become way more relevant as a tool in a marketer s arsenal.
It isn t a question of if it s a question of when and how . The rapid increase of
technological advances and society s connection to the online world will only
continue to grow. This being said, location based marketingis a trend that is here to
stay and will continue to make an impact on consumers shopping habits. To go into
further detail, five specific reasons will be discussed.
Penetration of smartphones + usage
It s no surprise that over the years, the percentage of individuals owning a
smartphone has grown. In 2014, 55% of Canadians owned a smartphone. Jump to
2015, the penetration grew by 24% to an overall percentage of 68% (see Appendix
I). This drastic increase in smartphone owners is significant as it shows how quickly
the mobile revolution is progressing. A majority of smartphone users use location
based services. Despite concerns about safety and use of personal information, 58%
of consumers still use this feature (Business Wire, 2016). This number continues to
grow over the years as nearly one third of consumers use location based applications
more than they did the previous year.

Essay On Influenza Virus
Is There a Single Vaccine for the Influenza Virus
Introduction/ Background The human immune system is constantly undergoing
changes because of the pathogens that are trying to invade the body. Once the
pathogens cross your initial barriers your body has a second defence that comes into
play. This is your immune systemwhich is composed of your innate and adaptive
immunity. Innate immunity has two line of defense, the first line starting with the
skin and mucosal membranes, these create barrier to try and fight off pathogens
entering the body. The second line is an internal response consisting of many types
of phagocytes, and chemicals and physiological processes which fight against
pathogens (pg 854 Textbook). Meanwhile adaptive immunity is a response that has
multiple cells that work to fight off specific pathogens. These cells start off as
simple T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes. T lymphocytes go through a process
when identifying a pathogen and eventually form cytotoxic T lymphocytes and
helper T lymphocytes. When B lymphocytes cross a pathogen they form into plasma
cells in order to release antibodies and target (textbook pg 864). These two
immunities play a big role in providing a healthy defense after vaccination is injected

The Deer Hunter Analysis
In looking at the The Deer Hunter as a model for the effects of war on people, we
have to consider the type of community they come from. This isn t the the same
community that Ron Kovic and I m using BOFJ because it poses questions of how
war affects people as a prominent theme came from and therefore the experience is
not the same. Similar, yes, in the sense that there is loss in both experiences, but the
depth of the suffering is very different. The nature of their surroundings very much
affected how the war had an affect on them and their community back home. I
would argue that unlike Ron Kovic s struggle with having to reexamine his ideas of
America and what it was all for , so to speak, The DeerHunter portrays a separate set
of problems that don t in my opinion point in the same direction. There is an
intersection of their experience with war with and that of others like Ron Kovic
especially in that of Steve s storyline. Problems with masculinity, acceptance, and
acclimating to civilian life are all present in these stories. It is each person s
background, their upbringing, their personality that determines how war changes
them, what it takes away from them.
In contrast to the typical war film, The Deer Hunter, goes about making the war
scenes short not even a third of the film . This not only solidifies the idea that the
movie is about people with war as the background not that it s a movie about war,
but also to show how the war lives within the characters. Just like it s weaved into
the film, the war is weaved into their lives. it comes home with Micheal, it is a big
cloud over the relationships the men have and it will never leave their lives. There
was such a stark difference in the the actions of the characters before and after the
war that at least from what we ve seen form Micheal s return returning to the same
routines and jokes proved to be practically impossible. The change in Micheal affects
the way the members of the community conduct themselves around him except for

Colonial America, New England, Middle Colonies
Colonial America is separated into three groups, New England, Middle Colonies,
and the South. New England consisted of New Hampshire, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Its colder than the other colonies, and made up of
mountains, and rivers. The cold weather had a great effect on how houses in the
New England colonies were built. The houses were normally plain rectangle 2
story houses, with a basement. The second story normally jutted out over the first
floor, which kept the snow from piling up outside the door, which could have
prevented the inhabitants from being able to leave their house. The basements
were cold, and they colonists kept food located there. The fireplace was built in the
middle of the house on both the first and second floors, which helped heat up the
house quicker, and keep it warm. The roofs were tilted to allow snow to slide off.
Its soil was very rocky, which made it very difficult for them to grow any crops. Its
proximity to the ocean made fishing and ship building the main source of income.
Women were also tin makers. The religion of this colony was Puritan, with the
exception of Rhode Island. Puritans were very strict with themselves, and didn t
allow any other types of religions. They believed in schools, so everyone would be
able to read the bible. The had a set of rules called the Blue Laws, which was
printed on blue paper. An example of a Blue Law, is that alcohol cannot be bought
on Sundays, and it can t be bought after a certain

Wall E: A Realistic Look into Our Future
This is called farming! You kids are gonna grow all kinds of plants! Vegetable
plants, pizza plants. ~The Captain from Wall E We all know that there is no such
thing as a pizza plant. But this is coming from a captain that never knew anything
about earth. Just imagine our world being destroyed and then robots beginning to
clean it up while we are on a luxury space cruise.
Now this might actually happen in our future. If you haven t seen the movie Wall e I
suggest you watch it because you may understand more of what will be said over the
next few minutes.

Just imagine. But this stuff is already happening to us. We are getting to attached to
our electronics and there is so much more junk food in our grocery stores that we are
changing without us even noticing.
We also have a lot of things in our world now that cause pollution. Transportation,
food production, and energy production. These things are just some of the many
pollution causes on earth.
With all of these things our world would start to die by the minute and that s exactly
what happened in the movie Wall E. All of this stuff would be crazy.
Why did the creators of the movie base it like this? Could it actually be because
they think all of this will happen in our future? Well I talked to some people to see
what they thought about all of this and here are some of the answers I have.
Person 1said Maybe, because if you look at our world now, the technology has
increased and there will probably be a lot of changes like robots and it might damage
our world.
Person 2 said Yes, because were already in the phase of it happening. Person 3 said

Slave Codes In Virginia
Slave codes, in the history of the US, were any rules that had to do with slaves.
These codes were any set of rules or regulations that qualified slaves as property,
not human beings. They made sure that once a slave, that person and their family
would always be a slave. They also gave the slave owners almost complete control
over their slaves. In colonial America, the number of black slaves was increasing
alarmingly fast for the comfort of the American people. The slaves were beginning
to strike fear and suspicion among the white people and slave owners, which is
what caused them to create the slave codes. Virginia was the first of the thirteen
colonies to put these codes to use. They followed old Caribbean slave codes and
used them as guidelines for their own rules. Soon after Virginia, the other colonies
quickly followed and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also ensured that their family would be under bondage as well. This insured that
the white slave owners would always have slaves for their future family and they
wouldn t run out. The slave codes were controlling and ruthless rules and
regulations that black slaves were expected and forced to follow. They prohibited
the slaves from owning property, getting married to whites, voting, gathering
together, and testifying against whites in court. In addition to these rules, the codes
also gave the slave owners the right to torture, whip, brand, and maim their slaves.
However, they were not allowed to kill their slaves. Only a few men did, but were
never prosecuted. After the Revolutionary War, many of the colonies modified their
slave codes and even added some new ones. They became particulary strict with the
rules in the 1840 s after the drama and tension with the Nat Turner Rebellion. They
also made the rules very strict because of the abolitionist movement in the North of

The Empty Tomb
Between how the empty tomb was discovered, who discovered it, who told the
discoverers where Jesus had gone, there were many differences in these stories
details pertaining to this. Another vast difference came in the reactions to what the
storytellers told the disciples and who Jesus appeared to in regards to getting others
to believe what has happened. Matthew 27, the crucifixion was one that is very
familiar to many Christians; this story doesn t often stray from its basis. The one
new thing I did learn was that two rebels were executed with Him and even they
cursed Jesusname at the time. One of my favorite differences between Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John were when the message of Jesus resurrection was told to
people. Between the angel, the young man with a white robe, two men in
gleaming robes, or Jesus himself, the stories all came from a different perspective
but for the most part were very similar and that specifically was interesting to
research. The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are
looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.
Come and see the place where He lay.... In this encounter, Mary and Mary Magdalene
both approached the tomb but was confronted by this angel on the closed tomb who
told them the fate of Jesus. In their quest to inform the disciples of this great news
they met with the presence of Jesus who told them not to be afraid and to tell his
brothers to go to Galilee and
The Reader, By Bernhard Schlink, And Was Later

The Reader is a romantic drama text written by Bernhard Schlink, and was later
developed into a film directed by Stephen Daltry. At the beginning of the film, the
audience is introduced to a young, sick boy who is struggling to get home in the
pouring rain. In this scene, Michael is introduced to Hanna Schmitz, a middle aged
womanwho helps him back to his home. Michael recalls, When rescue came, it was
almost an assault. The woman seized my arm and pulled me through the dark
entryway into the courtyard (4). Hanna is quite cold towards Michael, and as he
continues to pursue her throughout the story, their interactions form a unique
dynamic. In The Reader, both the author and director make the audiencesympathize

Michael is falling in love with Hanna, but it appears as though she is using him for
sexual favors and attention. Michael becomes so infatuated, he says, She came
home at noon, and I cut my last class every day so as to be waiting for her on the
landing outside her apartment (32). The audience is shown that Michael s
relationship with Hanna is beginning to take a negative toll on him, and he is
oblivious to it. Here, it seems like Michael is blind to the rest of the world and can
only see Hanna. He is losing his innocence, and instead of being at school learning
and socializing with his peers, he is cutting class to have sexual encounters with a
middle aged woman. This is frustrating to the audience, as they wish to be able to
guide him and correct his poor decision making.
Michael develops a routine with Hanna. One early morning when Hanna is working,
Michael wakes up and makes his way to the streetcar that she works on. Michael
finds the streetcar that Hanna is working on, but she ignores him. This fuels an
argument between the two characters. Michael admits that Hanna treated him poorly
when he says, I sat down on the sofa. She had treated me badly and I had wanted to
call her on it. But I hadn t got through to her. Instead, she was the one who d attacked
me (48). The relationship that Hanna has encouraged with Michael
The Law Of Property Act 1925
The law in relation to co ownership interests in property has changed a vast amount
in recent years. This has resulted in both changes in the legislative framework
surrounding co ownership; the development of the Trusts of Land and Appointment
of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA) , also due to the increase in occurrence of co
ownershipmany practical problems have been revealed which the Law of Property
Act 1925 simply did not clearly provide for. Additionally, changes within the society
and economic influences have triggered many problems on the path towards
property ownership. The Law of Property Act 1925 (LPA), established the original
scheme of co ownership, however it was incapable of dealing with this change in
time.
In this scenario, a considerable amount depends on whether Emma owns a share in
the house or, in other words whether she has a proprietary interest in it. If Emma is
able to establish that she has this interest then she may be able entitled to a share
within the property. When the property was purchased it was done so in David s
name. The purchase is by mortgage and by cash deposit. David has paid the entire
cash deposit, as he is the sole legal owner of the property as well as this, the
mortgage is made with him. Aforementioned, the title is registered in his name alone
and there is no express declaration of trust in writing in favour of Emma.

Electric Blanket Advantages And Disadvantages
An electric blanket has an electrical heating device built in that is meant to be
placed above the bed sheet. In Commonwealth countries, however, it refers to an
electric mattress pad that is kept below the bottom bed sheet. They comprise a
control unit that allows the user to adjust the heat produced by the device. Larger
size beds may even have two separate control units for both sides of the bed. An
electric blanketcan be useful to heat the bed to a certain level before sleeping to
keep the occupant cosy and warm. Typical low voltage electric blankets work on 12
24 volts and are made of thin carbon fibre wires. The electric blanket was invented
more than a century ago by American inventor Samuel Russell, while the first
recorded sale in the electric blanket market was by the Samson United Corporation in
1930.

were very poorly insulated and notoriously thin in the past, they are now made of
thick fleece which provides enough natural insulation and warmth even without the
help of electricity. Modern electric blankets can also be washed along with pillow

The Ecological Pattern Of Zonation Within The
Pauatahanui...
Biology Internal Assessment 2.6 Edward Sargent
Introduction
My investigation was to analyse the ecological pattern of zonation within the
Pauatahanui Inlet estuary at Motukaraka Point. Our focus was to compare the
distribution of invertebrate species from the low tide point to the high tide points of
the estuary. This estuary is formed by fresh water from streams meeting saltwater
from the Tasman Sea. We found the pattern of zonation by randomly placing three
0.3m x 03.m quadrats at 5 metre intervals along an interrupted belt transect line that
was placed at a right angle to the estuary mouth (Low Tide Point). We recorded the
number of invertebrate organisms on the surface of the mud within the quadrat and
then dug down 5cm below the surface to observe the organisms located there. The
main abiotic factor that affects these organisms is aerial exposure (tidal movement),
we also measured the abiotic factors that affect these organisms, and these included
salinity percentage, pH levels, temperatures of the air substrate and the light levels.
The invertebrates we will be investigating are the Tunnelling Mud Crab (Helice
Crassa) and the Cockle (Austrovenus Stuchburyi). Due to the mud crabs natural
instinct to hide in their burrows when approached, one mud crab burrow was
counted as a single mud crab. Also this particular estuary had consistent cover of
single cockle shells from the deceased invertebrates, to ensure we
Confucianism Dbq
Confucianism had a positive impact on China because it increased social stability.
Confucianism is a philosophy which focused on everyday problems and the
relationships between people. It s main goal was to restore peace, harmony and
social order. Confucius is the creator of Confucianism believed that societies like
Chinahad lost touch traditions and morals so he made the concept filial piety which
stressed respect for ones parents, elders, and ancestors... bring a good name to ones

Analysis Of The Book Carver Essay
Every story you read has an author behind it now how you interpret that s up to you,
but some authors have a completely different interpretation of their writing. Some
authors hide deep meaning behind their writings that can be difficult to catch.
Authors will use symbolism to tell a different story. A period of their life could
affect the way they write and you can see that as a reader if you pick apart the story.
Raymond Carveris a great example on how a period in his life affected his writing.
Carver was going down a dark path which readers can see the affects of this period
in his life in his writing style. It took Carver some time to find his sense of hope
again, and when he did so did his writing. Carver was known to be a great writer
even according to Stephen King, Carver was considered to be one of the most
influential writing in the 20th century (King). Also, know for being one of the
most important contributors to literature. In his short stories Carver chronicled the
everyday lives and problems of the working poor in the Pacific Northwest. His
blue collar characters are crushed by broken marriages, financial problems, and
failed careers. This short stories mirrored Carver s own life. Carver s stripped down,
minimalist prose style is remarkable for its honesty and power. He is credited with
helping revitalize the genre of the English language short storyin the late 20th

Summary Of Last Child In The Woods
Throughout history, humans have had a strong reliance on nature and their
environment. As far back as historians can look, people have depended on elements
of nature for their survival. In the past few decades, the increased advancement of
technology has led to an unfortunate division between humans and nature, and this
lack of respect is becoming a flaw in current day society. In Last Child in the Woods,
Louv criticizes modern culture by arguing that humans increasing reliance on
technology has led to their decreasing connection with nature through the use of
relevant anecdotes, rhetorical questions and powerful imagery to appeal to ethos.
Louv develops his argument by using insightful anecdotes that allow him to become
more relatable to the reader. He relays a story about his friend s experience of being
pushed to buy multimedia entertainment products by a car salesman selling her a
luxury car. This anecdoteis enhanced by a hyperbole to describe how the car
salesmen s jaw dropped when she decided to draw the line. The use of the anecdote
makes Louv seem more personable to any parent who desires convenience because it
shows that he understands the appeal of such luxuries, but he continues by showing
everything the child is losing from not observing the natural landscape and
experiencing the real and physical world. This anecdote allows the reader to
experience the same feelings that the friend may of felt in that situation. This makes
the argument a more relatable

Cholestasis and how it can affect the mother and baby, the significant language

done better for Lucy. Stage 3 Reflection: I was trying to build my skill in caring for

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper
For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend
told me about the new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I
had to try it. However, finding it in a store was more complicated than I had
originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able to find it in a 2 liter
bottle and brought it home for me to try. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the
smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was
chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the
Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I found the drink to be a very dark
hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a nice shade of
red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The
first drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I
expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The
chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any other flavors.
The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter
aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there
were hints of Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at
a new flavor from Dr. Pepper was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would
have thought combining three of my favorite things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr.
Pepper would have made

Analysis Of Primo Levi s The Gray Zone
Primo Levi s book, Survival in Auschwitz, examines how a select few managed to
survive the inhumane and brutal treatment of the Jews in Auschwitz. The well
known Italian Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi was only 24 years old, when he was
captured and taken to a detention camp in Fossoli, before spending eleven months in
Auschwitz. He, like so many other innocent Jews, was sent to die in the death camp
but with a little bit luck and resourcefulness, he survived. In his essay, The Gray
Zone Levi, writes privileged prisoners were a minority within the Lager [camp]
population; nevertheless they represent a potent majority among survivors (The Gray
Zone,117), where he examines the middle ground between Nazi soldiers and the
Jewish prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone in the Lager is responsible for oneself, and no one could afford to help his
or her neighbor because one act of kindness could get you killed. Levi shares the
story of Alfred L, a successful young engineer, arrested and sent to Auschwitz. In
his own country, L. was the director of an important factory chemical product and
its name was (and is) well known in industrial circles throughout Europe (Levi 93).
Primo Levi wants to make it clear to the reader that, for Alfred to reach the highest
position of director and be able to survive the camps he had to be determined,
motivated and intelligent. According to the author, Alfred always tried to separate
himself from the rest of the Häftling and made an effort to keep himself clean and
put together. He also made it a priority to always treat others with kindness and
respect. Alfred did not give up hope like so many others, in the camps, he adapted
to his situation the best way he could. He separated himself from the other
prisoners and made himself known. He carried himself with discipline and respect,
which made him an asset to the Nazis. By acting differently than the other prisoners,
Alfred was able to get a better job as the technical head of the Chemical Kommando.
According to Levi ... L. was able to earn all this show of prosperity with incredible
tenacity, paying for his acquisitions

Utilize The Processual Theory Of Anthropology
Changes in the objectives of archaeology throughout its development have affected
the varying ratio of scientific and humanistic theory that contributes to it. Prior to
scientific and technological advancement, the purpose of archaeology was to simply
collect and record pieces of evidence in order to fit it into the known parameters of
the current world view. However, modern archaeologists utilise the analysis of
cultural ecology in order to understand human and cultural adaptations to the
surrounding environment (Trigger 2006). Their objective has become to consider
patterns of behaviour in order to track the process of wider cultural change, another
close association with the objectives of anthropology. The genre of archaeological...

Therefore from the viewpoint of structuralism, archaeology is deterministic and so is
finite in its capacity to be scientifically evaluated. (Tilley 1990). Processual
archaeology and structuralism can be applied to branches of archaeology that
emphasize the application of physical and chemical science, such as the use of
carbon dating and molecular genetics, which can be awarded a numerical value and
structure. However, an aspect of the processual theory becomes flawed when
considering that not all archaeology is deterministic, it can instead be considered
humanistic in its origin. The theory could be considered to some extent contradict
itself as utilising scientific quantitative data in archaeology requires some aspect of
interpretation in order to relate it to a social or cultural question. Alternatively,
processual archaeology could be considered to only account for aspects of
methodology in archaeological practise and furthermore does allow perspective in
order to present a humanistic interpretation based on scientific analysis (Hodder and

The Harlem Renaissance In The 1950 s
With the end of slavery came new freedoms for the African American and African
American communities but freedom also came with new challenges. During this
time, segregation laws were in place limiting African Americans and portraying them
as second class citizens. In the 1920 s, the idea of a new identity for the African
American, one that was equal to the white majority, would take root and the Harlem
Renaissancewould begin in New York. Although there were numerous artists who
participated in the movement, poets Langston Hughes, Claude McKay, and Countee
Cullen are amongst some of the most prominent figures whom represent the Harlem
Renaissance. In the 1950 s, with the end of World War II, came a new group of
poets and artists who voiced their criticism on a wide variety of social issues creating
the Beat Movement, or Beat Generation. Allen Ginsburg, Gregory Corso, and Diane
di Prima are a few of the many artists who participated in the Beat Movement calling
for a spread of awareness and societal change. For these poets, it seemed as though no
topic was too taboo such as capitalism, war, American Culture, the use of religion,
consumerism, and environmental issues. While both were influential movements in
American history, the Harlem Renaissance was a movement which sought to unify
African American communities by encouraging the adoption of a new image

Medical Flight Transportation And Medical Safety
When individuals think of a nurse they often think of a bedside nurse at a hospital.
Hospital nurses see to the comfort of the patient and administer medications which
have been ordered by a doctor. But when a nurse is mentioned, very few people think
of a flight nurse, yet these nurses have saved countless lives. During transportation,
flight nurses are solely responsible for the well being of their patients. Flight
transportation becomes necessary in a life or death emergency, or when the distance
from a patient to a hospitalis too far for practical ambulance transportation. Medical
flight transportation has also been used during war time to transport wounded
soldiers from the battlefield to a hospital. Flight nurses must cope with physical and
mental stress, have superior knowledge, and be able to independently make life
saving decisions...ultimately they are heroes
Flight Nurses must be prepared to face virtually any medical emergency. They
must be competent in advanced cardiac life support, have critical care experience
and must also have good judgement. The may be called upon to take care of
anyone, from infants to the elderly. The patient could have injuries from a car
accident, or they could be hanging on to life after a heart attack. In Australia, it is
common for elderly farmers to be severely injured by their livestock. Flight nurses
must have enough experience to know the correct procedure for any of these events.

  • 2. The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act And the No Child Left Behind Act Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate, states and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national government imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a condition for the state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act. Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was put into place in 1990 to ensure that people could not discriminate against those with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were newly disabled American veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for the disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s, veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War saw
  • 3. Barack Obama Rhetorical Devices The road to becoming president is rockier than a mountain trail. Through all the ups and downs, a Presidential candidate must stay calm and do what is necessary to win. That is exactly what soon to be President Barack Obama did back in 2008. Through this crisis risen scenario, he didn t budge, he didn t change, he didn t back down. He stepped up to the stage, swung, and hit a homerun with his speech by sticking to simple literature basics, and putting rhetorical devices one after another, from start to finish of the speech. By reciting this well written speech with many rhetorical devices used, Barack Obamawas not only able to save voters who might have switched candidates, but he was able to swing voters from the opposing party to his. Without a doubt, Barack Obama was able to steal the hearts of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He first brings across this suggestion through the use of parallel structure when explaining through what ways younger generations should take action to stop this terrible act of selfishness. Through Barack Obama s vision, younger generations must be willing to do their part through protests and struggles, on the streets and in courts, through a civil war and civil disobedience just as their previous ancestors did in a time like this before them (1). By using this sentence structure and letting the audience really try to bite down on what he is saying, it allows him to truly emphasize what Americans can do to help obtain racial equality between the two ideas. Using parallel structure in the way the Illinois Senator did, allowed him to successfully compare the young generations of today, to the previous generations that fought and won the civil war. He found a perfect way to express to young generations, what part they can take to bury racial inequality in the ground for

I checked who the guard was this morning and it was guard 1543 the same one as yesterday. I climbed out of my bunk bed I slept on the top because I was a kid. At 14 I thought that I should be considered as an adult, but not in this concentration camp. I walked around a little bit to lose up my stiff weak muscles, even though it didn t do much it still felt good.I woke up the others in my cell that weren t awake which was everyone except for me and my mom. Her and I were very light sleepers, we would wake up when the first drop of a rainstorm fell, or a little mice would make a wrong turn in the cell and bump into the metal pole of the bed ever so slightly. I woke everyone up in my cell in the same order every day going from the person that took the longest to wake up to the person who would get up fairly quickly. • 5. The Death Of Franz Ferdinand The death of Franz Ferdinand in 1914 started the chain of war declarations eventually leading to the Great War, later known as World War I. Involving 32 countries and almost every continent, this total war between the Allies and the Central powers is one of the most brutal wars to date. The Red Cross provided support to those fighting in the war and those who were not. The Red Cross positively impacted both the people affected by World War I and the world. This was done by assisting both soldiers and their families during war, providing jobs for women, and helping to evolve humanitarian law. The International Committee of the Red Cross, or the ICRC, was founded in Geneva, Switzerland by Henry Dunant, a Swiss businessman, in 1863. Its primary purpose was to provide medical assistance to soldiers in the field. The ICRC also tried to develop international humanitarian law to guarantee the protection of human dignity (Forsythe). In addition, the Red Cross was a neutral organization, meaning that they did not support either side of the conflict exclusively. This meant that they provided care for both sides of the conflict. These guidelines were outlined in 1864 at the first Geneva Convention. In Articles 1 and 2, it is stated that ambulances and military hospitals shall be acknowledged to be neutral and persons employed in hospitals and ambulances, comprising the staff for superintendence, medical service, administration, transport of the wounded, as well as chaplains,

Napoleon was the second of eight surviving children. Carlo Buonaparte, a lawyer, and Letizia Romalino Buonaparte were his parents. Letizia was able to attend Mass often and named NapolГ©one after an Egyptian religious figure. His father was a member of a noble Italian family, and he remained on good terms with the French when they took over control of Corsica. Then the Hundreds Days Campaign and The Battle Of Waterloo had proceeded to happen (in which they lost, actually they were CRUSHED by the British). Then Napoleon was forced yet again to banishment. On June 22, 1815, Napoleon was once again forced to resign In October 1815, Napoleon was banished to the remote, British ruled island of Saint Helena, in the South Atlantic Ocean. He died there on May 5, 1821, at age 51, most likely from a stomach cancer. (During his time in power, Napoleon often posed for paintings with his hand in his vest, leading to some speculation after his death that he had been plagued by stomach pain for years.) Napoleon was buried on the island even though he had requested to be laid to rest on the banks of the Seine, among the French people I have loved so much. In 1840, Bonaparte s remains were returned to France and entombed in a crypt at Les Invalides in Paris, where other French military leaders are

Lindberg commented that Mary s catholic upbringing was important because from a purely non theological perspective [Mary] had to be Catholic in order to be the legitimate heir to the throne. • 13. Cause And Effects Of Tsunamis Tsunamis are one of the most destructive natural disasters. A series of waves in an ocean or lake caused by the displacement of a large body of water is known as a tsunami, meaning harbor wave in Japanese. A tsunami is also known as a tidal wave or seismic sea wave. Their wavelength is much longer than a typical sea wave, therefore tsunamis do not resemble normal undersea currents. Instead of appearing as a breaking wave, a tsunamimay instead resemble a very tall tide or wave. Unlike typical wind generated ocean waves, tsunamis are not caused by the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon but instead are generated by the displacement of water. Tsunamis are very destructive and their causes and impact to the environment and to humans show this; so, looking at and understanding a past example of a devastating tsunami and preparing for one in the future can help save lives and lessen the overall damage. There are several main causes of a tsunami. Doubtlessly, the most damaging tsunamis are caused by earthquakes with a fault line near the ocean floor, or even underwater. Researchers from the International Tsunami Research Center say that sudden vertical displacement over large areas, displace water and end up creating destructive tsunami waves (What Causes Tsunamis). Less periodically, submarine landslides can motivate a tsunami. The United States Geological Survey conducted research and have found that Tsunamis can be generated on impact as a rapidly moving landslide mass

Even though it s different, each people have some similarity with others that connected them together as a community or a group. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some groups that none of us has any choice in whether we belong to them or not. Factors such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at birth, groups that we belong to, yet cannot choose, and many of these endure throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even social status can be altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even more important as in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even religion actively create individual identity. As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we want to find belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a football club or friendship group, to more life altering choices such as being a member of a political party or protest group such as Green peace. As individuals make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to increase and from their ever changing sense of self. Such choices can also be made after life altering circumstances, such as when people feel a need to join victim s group or support groups when they or a loved one contract a chronic or terminal illness. • 16. Population Growth And Economic Development The global demographic trend has become a subject of discussion by researchers, policymakers, and the mass media. Economic performance in any country is, to a substantial degree, affected by the country s demographic situation. In recent decades, the developed countries have been experiencing declining fertility rates that caused serious shortages of the workforce. Besides, the plunging fertility rates have led to the phenomenon called ageing populationwhich has become a socio economic reality in many developed countries and which has put a big strain on their pension systems. Furthermore, in 2014, there was a campaign tagged Do it for Denmark where Danes were encouraged to go for more babies to check the decreasing birth rates. On the other hand, the poor economic performance of especially developing economies is related to their demographic growth; therefore, funds are allocated for campaign against their population growth. The importance of the relationship between population growth and economic developmenthas been well recognized by development economists. As Dawson and Tiffin (1998: 149) have pointed out, most textbooks on economic development include a section on population and development . Despite the fact that there are numerous research studies on the relationship between population and economic development, there is no universal consensus as to whether population expansion is beneficial, detrimental or neutral to economic growth. Essay On Influenza Virus Is There a Single Vaccine for the Influenza Virus Introduction/ Background The human immune system is constantly undergoing changes because of the pathogens that are trying to invade the body. Once the pathogens cross your initial barriers your body has a second defence that comes into play. This is your immune systemwhich is composed of your innate and adaptive immunity. Innate immunity has two line of defense, the first line starting with the skin and mucosal membranes, these create barrier to try and fight off pathogens entering the body. The second line is an internal response consisting of many types of phagocytes, and chemicals and physiological processes which fight against pathogens (pg 854 Textbook). Meanwhile adaptive immunity is a response that has multiple cells that work to fight off specific pathogens. These cells start off as simple T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes. T lymphocytes go through a process when identifying a pathogen and eventually form cytotoxic T lymphocytes and helper T lymphocytes. When B lymphocytes cross a pathogen they form into plasma cells in order to release antibodies and target (textbook pg 864). • 22. The Deer Hunter Analysis In looking at the The Deer Hunter as a model for the effects of war on people, we have to consider the type of community they come from. This isn t the the same community that Ron Kovic and I m using BOFJ because it poses questions of how war affects people as a prominent theme came from and therefore the experience is not the same. Similar, yes, in the sense that there is loss in both experiences, but the depth of the suffering is very different. The nature of their surroundings very much affected how the war had an affect on them and their community back home. I would argue that unlike Ron Kovic s struggle with having to reexamine his ideas of America and what it was all for , so to speak, The DeerHunter portrays a separate set of problems that don t in my opinion point in the same direction. There is an intersection of their experience with war with and that of others like Ron Kovic especially in that of Steve s storyline. Problems with masculinity, acceptance, and acclimating to civilian life are all present in these stories. It is each person s background, their upbringing, their personality that determines how war changes them, what it takes away from them. In contrast to the typical war film, The Deer Hunter, goes about making the war scenes short not even a third of the film . This not only solidifies the idea that the movie is about people with war as the background not that it s a movie about war, but also to show how the war lives within the characters. Just like it s weaved into the film, the war is weaved into their lives. it comes home with Micheal, it is a big cloud over the relationships the men have and it will never leave their lives. There was such a stark difference in the the actions of the characters before and after the war that at least from what we ve seen form Micheal s return returning to the same routines and jokes proved to be practically impossible. The change in Micheal affects the way the members of the community conduct themselves around him except for Steve . Starting with our hero Micheal, we see that his almost father like role in the friend group, carries over to the war where he single handily got both Steve and Nick to safety. He is a hero to a fault and that

  • 31. The Ecological Pattern Of Zonation Within The Pauatahanui... Biology Internal Assessment 2.6 Edward Sargent Introduction My investigation was to analyse the ecological pattern of zonation within the Pauatahanui Inlet estuary at Motukaraka Point. Our focus was to compare the distribution of invertebrate species from the low tide point to the high tide points of the estuary. This estuary is formed by fresh water from streams meeting saltwater from the Tasman Sea. We found the pattern of zonation by randomly placing three 0.3m x 03.m quadrats at 5 metre intervals along an interrupted belt transect line that was placed at a right angle to the estuary mouth (Low Tide Point). We recorded the number of invertebrate organisms on the surface of the mud within the quadrat and then dug down 5cm below the surface to observe the organisms located there. The main abiotic factor that affects these organisms is aerial exposure (tidal movement), we also measured the abiotic factors that affect these organisms, and these included salinity percentage, pH levels, temperatures of the air substrate and the light levels. The invertebrates we will be investigating are the Tunnelling Mud Crab (Helice Crassa) and the Cockle (Austrovenus Stuchburyi). Due to the mud crabs natural instinct to hide in their burrows when approached, one mud crab burrow was counted as a single mud crab. Also this particular estuary had consistent cover of single cockle shells from the deceased invertebrates, to ensure we

  • 36. Summary Of Last Child In The Woods Throughout history, humans have had a strong reliance on nature and their environment. As far back as historians can look, people have depended on elements of nature for their survival. In the past few decades, the increased advancement of technology has led to an unfortunate division between humans and nature, and this lack of respect is becoming a flaw in current day society. In Last Child in the Woods, Louv criticizes modern culture by arguing that humans increasing reliance on technology has led to their decreasing connection with nature through the use of relevant anecdotes, rhetorical questions and powerful imagery to appeal to ethos. Louv develops his argument by using insightful anecdotes that allow him to become more relatable to the reader. He relays a story about his friend s experience of being pushed to buy multimedia entertainment products by a car salesman selling her a luxury car. This anecdoteis enhanced by a hyperbole to describe how the car salesmen s jaw dropped when she decided to draw the line. The use of the anecdote makes Louv seem more personable to any parent who desires convenience because it shows that he understands the appeal of such luxuries, but he continues by showing everything the child is losing from not observing the natural landscape and experiencing the real and physical world. This anecdote allows the reader to experience the same feelings that the friend may of felt in that situation. This makes the argument a more relatable

Stage 1 Self Awareness: I was really looking forward to going back into birth suite. I feel it s an area that I can always work to improve on my performance and self confidence. I strive to make improvements every shift and would like to be a competent midwife in any given situation. Stage 2 Description: My preceptor, Lou*, and I were half way through a quiet night shift when a woman, Lucy*, was transferred to birth suite from the ward as she was contracting. Lucy was a G4 P3 and was an induction of labour in the morning for Cholestasis. She did not speak any English and had the support of a friend who interpreted for her as they could not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within ten minutes of the doctor leaving, Lou and I continuously monitored Lucy and her baby, we began to see signs of the woman pushing. I switched from green gloves to my sterile gloves just in time to accouchour the baby who cried instantly as we lifted the baby up to Lucy for immediate skin to skin. The baby received APGARS of 9 and 9 but it was obvious that the baby was small for its gestational age (SGA). The key issues that I will focus on throughout my reflection are Cholestasis and how it can affect the mother and baby, the significant language barrier and how it affected the woman and her experience and what I could have done better for Lucy. Stage 3 Reflection: I was trying to build my skill in caring for women with complex needs. I wanted to be competent within the care of my scope of practice as well as hold the space for the woman. I feel as though I did not achieve the holding of the space as it was challenging having such a significant language barrier. I feel because I was unable to strongly connect with Lucy, the consequence was evident through her and her support person s behaviour and stress levels. I felt the experience was very rushed and there wasn t much I could do to help. I felt that the decisions were out of

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend told me about the new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I had to try it. However, finding it in a store was more complicated than I had originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able to find it in a 2 liter bottle and brought it home for me to try. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I found the drink to be a very dark hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a nice shade of red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The first drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there were hints of Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at a new flavor from Dr. Pepper was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would have thought combining three of my favorite things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr. Pepper would have made

The well known Italian Holocaust survivor, Primo Levi was only 24 years old, when he was captured and taken to a detention camp in Fossoli, before spending eleven months in Auschwitz. He, like so many other innocent Jews, was sent to die in the death camp but with a little bit luck and resourcefulness, he survived. In his essay, The Gray Zone Levi, writes privileged prisoners were a minority within the Lager [camp] population; nevertheless they represent a potent majority among survivors (The Gray Zone,117), where he examines the middle ground between Nazi soldiers and the Jewish prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone in the Lager is responsible for oneself, and no one could afford to help his or her neighbor because one act of kindness could get you killed. Levi shares the story of Alfred L, a successful young engineer, arrested and sent to Auschwitz. In his own country, L. was the director of an important factory chemical product and its name was (and is) well known in industrial circles throughout Europe (Levi 93). Primo Levi wants to make it clear to the reader that, for Alfred to reach the highest position of director and be able to survive the camps he had to be determined, motivated and intelligent. According to the author, Alfred always tried to separate himself from the rest of the Häftling and made an effort to keep himself clean and put together. He also made it a priority to always treat others with kindness and respect. Alfred did not give up hope like so many others, in the camps, he adapted to his situation the best way he could. He separated himself from the other prisoners and made himself known. He carried himself with discipline and respect, which made him an asset to the Nazis. By acting differently than the other prisoners, Alfred was able to get a better job as the technical head of the Chemical Kommando. According to Levi ... Utilize The Processual Theory Of Anthropology Changes in the objectives of archaeology throughout its development have affected the varying ratio of scientific and humanistic theory that contributes to it. Prior to scientific and technological advancement, the purpose of archaeology was to simply collect and record pieces of evidence in order to fit it into the known parameters of the current world view. However, modern archaeologists utilise the analysis of cultural ecology in order to understand human and cultural adaptations to the surrounding environment (Trigger 2006). Their objective has become to consider patterns of behaviour in order to track the process of wider cultural change, another close association with the objectives of anthropology. The genre of archaeological... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore from the viewpoint of structuralism, archaeology is deterministic and so is finite in its capacity to be scientifically evaluated. (Tilley 1990). Processual archaeology and structuralism can be applied to branches of archaeology that emphasize the application of physical and chemical science, such as the use of carbon dating and molecular genetics, which can be awarded a numerical value and structure. However, an aspect of the processual theory becomes flawed when considering that not all archaeology is deterministic, it can instead be considered humanistic in its origin. The theory could be considered to some extent contradict itself as utilising scientific quantitative data in archaeology requires some aspect of interpretation in order to relate it to a social or cultural question. Alternatively, processual archaeology could be considered to only account for aspects of methodology in archaeological practise and furthermore does allow perspective in order to present a humanistic interpretation based on scientific analysis (Hodder and Hutson

During this time, segregation laws were in place limiting African Americans and portraying them as second class citizens. In the 1920 s, the idea of a new identity for the African American, one that was equal to the white majority, would take root and the Harlem Renaissancewould begin in New York. Although there were numerous artists who participated in the movement, poets Langston Hughes, Claude McKay, and Countee Cullen are amongst some of the most prominent figures whom represent the Harlem Renaissance. In the 1950 s, with the end of World War II, came a new group of poets and artists who voiced their criticism on a wide variety of social issues creating the Beat Movement, or Beat Generation. Allen Ginsburg, Gregory Corso, and Diane di Prima are a few of the many artists who participated in the Beat Movement calling for a spread of awareness and societal change. For these poets, it seemed as though no topic was too taboo such as capitalism, war, American Culture, the use of religion, consumerism, and environmental issues. While both were influential movements in American history, the Harlem Renaissance was a movement which sought to unify African American communities by encouraging the adoption of a new image whereas the Beat Movement used individual expression to promote change for a variety of social issues. Hospital nurses see to the comfort of the patient and administer medications which have been ordered by a doctor. But when a nurse is mentioned, very few people think of a flight nurse, yet these nurses have saved countless lives. During transportation, flight nurses are solely responsible for the well being of their patients. Flight transportation becomes necessary in a life or death emergency, or when the distance from a patient to a hospitalis too far for practical ambulance transportation. Medical flight transportation has also been used during war time to transport wounded soldiers from the battlefield to a hospital. Flight nurses must cope with physical and mental stress, have superior knowledge, and be able to independently make life saving decisions...ultimately they are heroes Flight Nurses must be prepared to face virtually any medical emergency. They must be competent in advanced cardiac life support, have critical care experience and must also have good judgement. The may be called upon to take care of anyone, from infants to the elderly. The patient could have injuries from a car accident, or they could be hanging on to life after a heart attack. In Australia, it is common for elderly farmers to be severely injured by their livestock. Flight nurses must have enough experience to know the correct procedure for any of these events.
