Essay on Attacks on the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania
On August 7, 1998, two U.S. embassies were attacked almost simultaneously. One was in
Nairobi, Kenya and the other in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attack in Kenya involved both a
truck bomb and at least two suicide bombers. The truck was at the back entrance of the embassy
when the bomb went off, and the damage was critical. This attack had more casualties than the
bombing in Tanzania because the truck that contained the bomb was able to get into the inner
embassy compound. Also, the Nairobi embassy was close to the center of the city which was
more populated and led to more deaths. The U.S. embassy was not the only building affected in
the explosion. The Ufundi building and the Cooperative Bank which were close by were both

ambassador that was injured in the bombing. She had been meeting outside with Joseph
Kamotho, Kenya s trade minister. Their first thought from hearing the smaller blast was that it
must be the noise from construction. Another victim, Linda Howard, witnessed the explosion
around 10:40 A.M. She was on the fourth floor of the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya
and was in a meeting. Soon after she heard the small explosion, she suddenly realized that all of
the windows were currently being blasted, the roof was caving in, and smoke seemed to appear
from every direction. Before she had analyzed what was going on, she was being yelled at by
Embassy guards to get down on the floor. After fifteen minutes of crawling around without being
able to see, they had reached the ground floor. What Howard saw next terrified her. She saw
lifeless bodies, fires everywhere, and the screams of terrified people. Bill Bar who is director of
the U.S. Information Service in Kenya, was also at the same meeting as Linda Howard. He also
recalls hearing a thump and thought it was possibly the sound of a grenade being thrown at the
embassy. Some also recall hearing gunfire outside of the embassy before the big explosion. Al
Qaeda is the international terrorist group responsible for these two attacks. The mastermind behind
the attacks was named Fazul Abdullah Mohammed. He was recruited by Osama Bin Laden who was

The Compromise Of The Declaration Of Independence Essay
It was a Thursday in 1776; the Second Continental Congress was meeting to sign the Declaration
of Independence. In the very words of the document, Americans agreed to the ideas that all men
were created equal with unalienable rights; among these were Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness. The young country, even though there were different opinions and ideas had
compromised for the betterment of all Americans. Compromise; the definition is the agreement
or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. The country had
extensive opportunities to compromise on laws, territories, societies, and industrializations. By
1860, the sense of compromise started to disappear, and America stood on the verge of
monumental discord. The Compromise of 1820 brought both sides of the slavery debate to an
agreement. In 1819, Missouri proposed to join the Union as a slave state. If Missouri joined as a
slave state, this would teeter the balance in the House of Representatives with a greater number
of pro slavery Congressman. In the compromise, Congress initiated a two part plan; to admit
Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state and a new boundary line was drawn at longitude
36в—¦ 30 through the former Louisiana Territory separating free and slave states.1 The compromise
settled each side for a time, but the sectional and political conflicts continued to escalate.
Consequently, after the Mexican American War (1846 1848), the country needed

Nursing Pathophysiology
The Pathophysiology Behind the Nursing Priorities The first nursing diagnosis to address with
the client is the chronic pain related to his posterior back as evident by his level of pain over the
course of several months. The client has been complaining of pain upon initial assessment on 10

prescribed hydrocodone acetaminophen PRN to help alleviate pain. In order to avoid under
treating the client s pain, the goal of the nursing interventions is to improve his quality of life by
managing and treating his pain more effectively. Vital signs collected on 11/29/17 revealed that he

Nocturia is when an individual has to frequently urinate in the middle of the night (Hall, Perry,
Potter, Stockert, 2017, p. 995). The client has reported waking up between two to three times in the
night to use the restroom. These frequent trips to the bathroom disrupts the clients sleep cycle and
makes it difficult to fall back asleep at night. According the patient s MAR, he has Benign prostatic
hyperplasia (BPH), an overactive bladder and chronic kidney disease. He is being treated with the
medications finasteride, tamsulosin and oxybutynin. Finasteride and tamsulosin are used to treat
BPH. The medication tamsulosin is also indicated for nocturia and acts by decreasing the
contraction of smooth muscle in the prostatic capsule (Deglin, Sanoski, Vallerand, p.1164). The
patient takes oxybutynin in the morning and night to treat his overactive bladder. Oxybutynin can
also help treat nocturia and works by inhibiting the action of acetylcholine at the postganglionic
receptors (Deglin, Sanoski, Vallerand, 2017, p.944). One of the interventions to help improve the
clients sleeping pattern is to speak to his physician about possibly increasing the dose of these
medications or changing medications to something that is more effective. The goal is to decrease
the number of trips to the bathroom the client has to

Summary Of Tuesdays With Morrie
Aphorism Narrative
Aphorisms are statements of observations that express an opinion or remarks of wisdom.
Tuesdays With Morrie is a book about a man who s dying from ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain
and the spinal cord. ( What Is ALS? ) Morrie uses aphorisms quite frequently to accept his future
and make peace with the past. The two aphorisms I chose are about making your life as fulfilling as
possible. Not only can they relate to me personally in small ways, but also in bigger and deeper
ways.
In Tuesday s with Morrie, Morrie had many aphorisms that not only helped himself but helped
others. He inspired many others, like his student Mitch, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I can t completely forget about these relationships because they can help me grow and become a
better person. I can t deny my faults in those relationships or blame the ending of the relationship
on the other person or else I ll repeat my mistakes in other relationships. I also can t forget the
positive aspects of the relationship and the happy moments without risking living a life of misery
and hate.
Morrie is well known for his aphorisms but he s not the only one who comes up with these words
of truth. An aphorism not of Morrie s but of similar depth and effect comes from the poet, George
Gordon Byron. He said, It is very certain that the desire of life prolongs it. (Aphorisms:Life) Lord
Byron lived from 1788 to 1824 and was a big contribution to the Romanticism era (Lord Byron
Biography). Romanticism was an era of creation made of feelings and expression and new deep
thought (Romanticism). This aphorism is definitely a reflection of the era. (Romanticism)
I believe that this aphorism means that being excited and enthusiastic about living and wanting
to live will make your life longer. If you re always dreading or fearing life, it will appear shorter
and less satisfying to you. For me personally, one of my biggest fears is death. Reading Tuesdays
with Morrie made me amazed and almost jealous of Morrie s outlook on death. I always fear I ll
never live a long, fulfilled life. This aphorism by Lord Byron has helped me realize that if I never do

Sinclair Lewis Struggle For Equal Rights For Women
One of the features that characterized western civilization during the 20th century the push for
equal rights for all emerged during the enlightenment era. By the early 20th century, feminists
were promoting equal rights for women as they were becoming more present in the public sphere.
However, after WWII, women were pushed back into more domestic roles. According to certain
mid 20th century writers, western civilization fell short of fulfilling this promise of equality for
women in that women during the 20th century were not granted rights by men in positions of
power nor the same sort of equality as men within the public sphere. Sinclair Lewis It Can t

Bud suggests that a machine could do the work she does (78). She expresses her anger which is
later falsely explained as a broken engagement and says to Bud, You have no right to go around
saying a machine can do what I do (81, 78). In this instance, Vonnegut shows that Katherine is
seen as disposable in her role as a secretary, and the emotion she feels, anger, is discounted as
heartbreak, as if the only reason a woman would be upset were if a man had ended her romantic

Comparing Christianity, Morality In Islam, And The Bible
What is the meaning of life? Is there a universal source that serves as an instruction manual to direct
each person s life? Time has shown that multiple sources have found their own answers on the
purpose of human existence, and the most helpful answers derive from religious roots. Specifically,
Islam and Christianity both give answers to the questions of humanexistence and morality through
their holy scriptures, The Qur an in the Muslim faith, and the Bible in the Christian faith. While
the Bible and the Qur an offer helpful instruction to the lives of the followers of their respective
religions and stand out as long lasting pieces of literature, the two books differ on their bases for
morality due to key differences in the story each book

The Famous Greek Philosopher And The Best Greek Philosophers
Socrates was known as one of the best Greek philosophers born in Athens in 469 BC. He wasn t
one to keep his legacy alive by physically writing it down. Socrates was a verbal philosopher who
taught orally. He always had questions beyond questions for anyone and everyone who he
crossed paths with. He was a curious person and his curiosity is what lead him to become the
great philosopher he is known by today. He would talk to anyone who was willing to listen, no
matter the gender, wealth, or age of the person. Socrateswas known for not accepting money for
his teachings. He lived a fairly poor life but he was known for his character and the way he
presented himself. He taught himself before he taught others without even realizing it. Self
development was the main aspect he used to tell his fellow believers, rather than focusing on
becoming a wealthy person. The Socratic Methodis known as the famous process in helping
people. He would ask them a number of questions and listen to what one had to say, rather than
making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. His goal was to let the other person listen to
themselves and realize what they are speaking. He tried to give them a voice of reasoning and
have them truly understand that the answer doesn t necessarily have to come from someone else s
perspectives but their own. Socrates ended up being put on trial for a number of reasons. Our
modern day knowledge of the word apology has no where near the same meaning as the title

Analysis Of Mary Shelly s Winning Frankenstein Essay
There are many books and movies, both fictional and non fictional that deal with some form of
criminological theory. While there are some that deal with that subject to either a more or lesser
extent, the interest of the audience ultimately depends on what events the story line includes and
how interesting did they make that specific event. I have decided to deal with 1818, award
winning Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. In the beginning of the story, a man name Robert Walton
is searching for a passage that connects Russia, the Pacific Ocean, and The Arctic Ocean. Having
spent weeks out there alone with his crew, he is shocked to see man nearly frozen to death out
there. After rescuing the man, he tells Walton that his name is Victor Frankenstein. Walton
frequently writes his sister who lives in England and tells her about Victor s terrible experience.
Victor is from Switzerland and had been an extremely, very brilliant child with a strong will to
have more knowledge. When Victor went off to University to quench his thirst for knowledge, a
brutal illness strikes his adopted sister, Elizabeth, and his mother. Unfortunately, Scarlet Fever
takes his mother s life, but Elizabeth survives. At the university, Victor had become the brightest
person there, even among the teachers when it came to the subject of science. Victor ponders at
the idea if he could in fact make a person and bring it to life. He decides that if he can accomplish
this deed then he will perhaps be renowned the

Rise Of Carthage Research Paper
After so many battles, such as against the Latins, Etruscans, and the Samnites, Rome was at her
strongest than ever before. The Romans had such great power, that they wanted more than just the
conquering of Italy (Morey, 1901). In the ambition for more, the Romans encountered the city of
Carthage which was a growing city building upon their strength that Rome wished acquire (Morey,
1901). In the following we will take a look at how the city of Carthagebegan, the power that each
city contained, and how such ambitions led to Rome becoming a great naval power.
The rise of the Carthaginians

The Romans delayed in whether deciding to help out or not, but soon realized that if they didn t,
Carthage would be called and acquire part of the island (Morey, 1901). It was due to their late
arrival, that a Carthaginian garrison had been already admitted in the city and conquered most of
the surrounding cities of the island (Morey, 1901). The Romans, though, achieved the possession of
Messana (Morey, 1901). The king of Syracuse along with the Carthaginians attempted to remove the
Romans out of Sicily (Morey, 1901). But the Romans showed their greater strength at land against
both, the king and the Carthaginians, and which led the king to overturn their alliance in favor of
the Romans (Morey, 1901).
The Romans then knew that in order to win the battle against the Carthaginians, they would need
a stronger navy to fight at sea (Morey, 1901). So the Romans constructed 100 replica vessels of a
Carthaginian vessel that had wrecked in the coast of Italy, within 60 days (Morey, 1901). At the
same time, Roman soldiers were being trained to row the vessels, and train to encounter the
Carthaginians hand to hand while at sea (Morey,

Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) was originally created as a character in FOX s Batman: The
Animated Series to be a humorous sidekick for the Joker. In Harley s origin story, she began as a
psychologist at Arkham Asylum who was assigned to treat the Joker. Eventually, Harley became
infatuated with her client and willingly gave up her career in order to be the Jokers partner in crime.
As the animated series and future comics progressed, Harley was reduced to an extremely
sexualized female villain for fans to ogle at and a woman who felt a complete loss of identity
whenever the Joker was absent. Despite the horrible abuse that the Joker inflicts on Harley in their
relationship, Harley remains submissive and loyal to him. The past animated character... Show more

When Harley was sent on her mission with the squad, she never made any mention of the Joker.
Instead, she focused on making her time in her assigned mission enjoyable for herself by
making new friends within the squad and proudly fighting anyone who threatened her. However,
she was ecstatic when the Joker showed up to take her home with him in an elaborate escape
plan. At the end of the film, Harley is sent back to prison after she previously failed to escape.
She is living happily on her own for a second time with request items to make prison life more
tolerable as a reward for her success in her assigned mission. Again in the film, the Joker strips
Harley of her independent life and places her back into the role of a damsel in distress. Once
again, Harley is ecstatic when she is rescued even though she had shown in previous scenes of the
film that she was fully capable of being an independent woman. The film shows Harley as a
woman who is still able to succeed and is able to manage her own life in the absence of her
significant other; this characteristic supports the progressive notion that women possess the
strength of achieving success on their own. However, this characteristic loses its value when Harley

Organizational Structures Have Impacted Organizational...
Organizational structures have changed greatly in the last fifty years. Whereas most organizations
were once rigid and centralized, most organizations are now taking advantage of flexible and
decentralized structures. These new structures have affected the standard relationships between
employees and managers. Additional layers of managementhave been created which blur the lines
between the functions of managers and the functions of employees. Employees have become
decision makers, and some managers barely have any authoritative power. Subsequently, these
changes to organizational structures have impacted organizational strategies. This too, expounds
upon the increased power of the employee and the reduced authority of the manager. The changes in
organizational strategies make use of the dispersion of power in order to reduce costs and enable
additional safeguards within these organizations.
Pertaining to the neoteric avant garde in bureaucratic concatenations from parochial to insouciant,
more unerringly decentralization and the divergence of paramountcy, nuclear transmogrifications
have germinated which perturb the paradigmatic consanguinity betwixt suzerains and proletariats.
For example, employees are now often given a budget with which they can use to rectify an issue
that a customer may have. To illustrate, an up and coming grocery store called The Fresh Market
grants each employee the power to provide free merchandise to any customer, up to a twenty five
dollar

Psychotherapist and top brisket maker Phyllis Cohen. Those are some good words to sum up
brisket, because everyone thinks the way do it is the way. In my family smoking is a tradition,
we ve been doing it for about 5 years me and my dad but we do have a little history in it. We use
a great blend of savory spice to make the brisket have the best flavor it can possibly have. But the
most important start to the whole process is selecting the right brisket. A good brisket should
have a nice fat cap in the top, and should have a very good marble to the meat. If not your brisket
will be as dry as a shoes leather. After selecting the most prime brisket it s time to get down to my

Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies
Compare and Contrast Essay
The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons
character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment,
shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly
depict characters loss of innocence.
Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife
changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from
returning to their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that
butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to
the group s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and
choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you
know what s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack
provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The
authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase
associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal
how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop.
Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace amounts of good in them. recognizing the

trail habitats. That is also being argued in the article by Joy Coppes and Veronika Braunish

that on trail activities allow habituation, however wildlife species can hardly adjust to off trail
disturbances (2). Both articles argue against one another and I will, through this project, see

Panic ! At The Disco (P ! ATD)
Panic! At the Disco Panic! At the Disco (P!ATD) is a pop punk rock band that consists of the
lead singer and face of the group, Brendon Urie, and several unnamed/unpopular guitarists and
drummers. The biggest competitor for P!ATD is the other main stream pop punk rock band
called Fall Out Boy (FOB) which consists of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy
Hurley. Although P!ATD and FOB have similar musical styles, the different music videos each
group presents, the varying tunes and lyrics, and disparate stage presence during live concerts, is
why I lean toward P!ATD as my favorite overall band, with FOB falling just behind it. The
themes and theatrics behind P!ATD music videos are superior to FOB music videos. The themes
P!ATD choose are deep and meaningful and at a first glance, doesn t even seem to relate to the

One of my favorites lyrics from P!ATD song, Don t Threaten Me With A Good Time, is
Memories tend to just pop up/Drunk pre meds and some rubber gloves/Five thousand people
with designer drugs/Don t think I ll ever get enough. The first time I heard this part of the song,
I surprisingly started laughing out loud in public (I m a pre med student). Ever since then, I
became a fan of P!ATD and I can proudly say that I know the lyrics to 80% of their songs. FOB
lyrics are catchy but not as comedic and unique as I would like. For example, in their song My
Song Knows What You Did in the Dark, the chorus is I m a young lover s rage/Gonna need a
spark to ignite/My song knows what you did in the dark/So light em up up up..., the lyrics are
somewhat predictable and not that memorable as the lyrics used in P!ATD songs. Because of the
lyrics and tune that P!ATD use, I find myself looking more forward to listening to P!ATD songs
because it s easier for me to sing along to

ABSTRACT We analyzed the e business websites of Realestate.yahoo.com, Realtor.com, and
Zillow.com. We looked at the similarities and differences between them and how e business
components help differentiate one company from another and the role this plays in contributing to
their success. We looked at which business model components, such as value proposition, target
customers, distribution channels, and revenue streams, are important. The type of e business
models each company used and the ones that are more successful were investigated. We discovered

Dubosson Torbay et al. (2002) identify the principal dimensions user s role, interaction pattern,
nature of the offering, pricing system, level of customization, and economic control for classifying
e business models. Rappa (2001) describes companies by their value proposition and ways of
generating revenue. His classification has nine categories of e business models: brokerage model,
advertising model, infomediary model, merchant model, manufacturer model, affiliate model,
community model, subscription model and utility model. E business models are comprised of a set
of components so we need to choose the appropriate application framework to define the
relationship between them. The growth of e business has raised interest in transforming traditional
business models to exploit opportunities through innovation (Pateli and Giaglis, 2003). The internet
has changed the idea of a business model and this has practical implications for companies.
Consequently, companies need to redefine customer value propositions, and their business model.
Enhancing customer experience helps to reshape customer value propositions (Berman and Bell,
2011). Creating new digital capabilities helps to refine the operating model by leveraging
information to manage organizations, and integrating and optimizing digital and physical

Worn Path Symbolism
In the short story A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty, Phoenix Jackson is a small old lady that is
overcoming the obstacles of life. She is figuring out that life has many different encounters to
overcome. Welty describes the physical and emotional encounters Jackson meets on her journey to
town and life. Welty describes how the character Jackson is a courageous woman that endures many
things through life, Welty also uses symbolism to show the true challenges that Jackson faces.
Welty uses symbols of nature numerous of times throughout the story.
First off, Phoenix Jackson is an old Negro woman, who faces the obstacles of life. She has troubles
on her path through town and life. She begins her path through the pinewoods. The path is like a
microcosm of a person s whole life. Sometimes things can be easy, and sometimes things can be
hard. Phoenix runs into obstacles which are harder than other. Life has many elements; some many
be dangerous, surprising, beautiful, and confusing. Phoenix Jackson faces some problems with her
memory. Up through pines, she said at length. Now down through the oaks. (Welty A Worn Path).
Through the story Welty uses the trees as a symbol of wisdom, strength, and endurance. The trees
help to tie the idea of the cycle of life and death. The cones dropped as light as feathers. (Welty A
Worn Path ). Sometimes through life things begin to fall down and sometimes things begin to
rebuild itself higher. Just like a tree loses its leaves and

The Latter Amendments Essay Draft As Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said, The greatest threat to
public confidence in elections in this case is the prospect of enforcing a purposefully discriminatory
law, one that likely imposes an unconstitutional poll tax and risks denying the right to vote to
hundreds of thousands of eligible voters (Ruth Bader Ginsburg Quote). To elaborate, the Twenty
Fourth Amendment forbids any government from making voters pay poll tax, money, or a fee to
vote in any election. This opens up the right to vote to many more American citizens of any
ethnicity or gender. To justify, a poll tax was a tax that was simply just paid for living in a taxed

Toombs was known for his unfair practices to the African races, and usually if a white person
could not afford to pay their poll tax, he was also known to buy their vote and pay the tax for
them. Months after the Civil War ended, some Constitutional amendments were passed helping
black rights and giving them the freedom to vote. Southerners were afraid of all this new political
power towards the Negroes, so they did whatever they could to limit that power, and made it
nearly impossible for Negroes to vote with the new laws they passed. With the Ku Klux Klan being
formed and more discriminatory acts to interfere with black voting rights, it was not until the
civil rights movements of the 1950 s and 1960 s until the amendment was finally brought up,
almost a century later. During the Ku Klux Klan era, southerners passed laws to limit the power
of African Americans, otherwise known as black codes. They did whatever they could to limit the
black s freedom, even with such small things like requiring them to use a different water fountain
or, even bigger, forcing them to pay an unreasonable poll tax to vote. With the rise of civil rights
acts though, it became harder and harder to limit their power, and in the middle of 1962 when
Congress proposed the amendment to require no fee to vote, southerners knew that this was more
of the beginning of racial movements and equal rights to all.

Comparison Between Catullus And Jupiter
Catullus 70 is Catullus questioning his relationship with Cloudia. The poem begins by Catullus
calling his lover mulier, the latin word for a married women. Catullus says that this married women
would marry no other than him. Calling his lover a married woman sets up a tension that Catullus
carries throughout the poem. His lover tells him that she would rather be with him than anyone, but
Catullusspecific example of who she would choose him over is Jupiter. This comparison between
Catullus and Jupiter is interesting because Jupiter was known for being both the supreme god as
well as the god who would rape people. So on the one hand, Catullus is being chosen over the most

Problems Associated With Climate Change
1.What is this report about?
It considers threats and impacts associated with climate change could be reduced and handled
through mitigation and adaptation. The report evaluates resilience, choices, opportunities,
constraints, needs, limits, as well as other features connected with adaptation. Climate change
requires shifting probabilities of impacts that are varied with complicated interactions. A focus
on danger, which will be not old in this report, complements other aspects of the report and
supports decision. Societies and individuals may view or rate possible gains and hazards
otherwise, given aims and varied values. All inclusive evaluation has been eased by increased
works across a more comprehensive group of issues and sectors, with increased coverage of the
ocean, variation, as well as human systems. (IPCC, 2014)
The findings in this report have greatly improved our knowledge of the range of decrease pathways
accessible and their inherent economical, technological and institutional demands. The report thus
requires the urgent attention of both policymakers as well as the public. (IPCC, 2014)

Darkness Of Darkness Analysis
As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually
points out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region.
The first place he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness
immediately. He saw a railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the
carcass of some animal (Conrad 19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway
who was blowing up a cliff with objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to
describe the Europeans actions connote that this was a waste of energy, brain power, and
company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably used to efficiency and maximum
production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of time, they cannot afford to
waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns Marlow. While trying to
imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal and desolate shores
, of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all kinds (Raskin
122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized the waste
of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and the
destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. Further along the
path, Marlow avoids a hole with a purpose of which I found nearly impossible to

The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada...
The Actions of Three Great Men and How They Made Canada Stronger Throughout Canadian
history, we experienced many events that made our country both stronger and weaker. At times,
we were looked upon as a nation with great potential, great peacekeeping service, and even a
nation where its citizens were proud to be Canadian. Although, Canada did show signs of
negativity as some of our actions made us look like terrible people and overall others had a weak
view of the nation. During the 20th century, there were however 3 men that did prove that they did
what they did not just only for themselves, but for the commonwealth of the population. These 3
men, William Lyon Mackenzie King, Lester Bowles Pearson, and Pierre Elliot Trudeau shaped...

There were some issues in the system and how it operated but overall, Canada s elderly were
given financial help that most needed in order to survive. This was a piece of Canada that was able
to become stronger in the sense of stability. Aside from the Old Age Pension Act, King also created
the Unemployment Insurance Act, which are social welfare payments given to the unemployed
population. At first, the Unemployment Act excluded many types of employment such as
agriculture, and jobs that earned more than $2,000 per year (Makarenko, 1). This was the
responsibility of the provinces, but after acquiring unanimous provincial consent, he made it
become a federal issue (Makarenko, 1). The British Parliament made a change to the British North
American Act (now the Canadian Constitution) stating that unemployment insurance was now a
federal power and not a provincial power (Makarenko, 1). King introduced a nationwide public
system of unemployment insurance, which was funded by employees, employers, and the federal
government (Makarenko, 1). This action helped Canada become stronger due to the fact that it
provided an income for the people who couldn t work due to maternity issues, amputations, and
illness. Now, the people who couldn t support themselves had relief from the government which
abled them to be able to survive and keep poverty on a lower scale. With these 3 actions that

Low Users Adoption Of Health Information Exchange

The principle idea of this research study was to explore the reasons behind low user adoption of
Health Information Exchange. These reasons include technology, financial, and resource
limitations which can be driven by the size of the organizations and their regional location. Also
coming into play as a strong barrier can be the unwanted but necessary partnerships that many
clinical institutions must enter into to provide the most well rounded and full picture of data to

The rising costs of healthcare have increased the need for centralized and secure data for

Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Although they tend to be smaller than manned aircraft including most small general aviation types,
UAVs are indeed aircraft and all of the industrial safety measures that apply in other forms of
aviation also apply here. At this point it is appropriate to define a few terms; Remotely Piloted
Vehicle/Aircraft (RPV/Aircraft) refers to an aircraft or vehicle piloted from the ground. Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles (UAV) may be piloted from the ground or autonomously controlled through a
software program. Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) refers to the combination of unmanned vehicle
and all control, sensor, payload and maintenance elements necessary for mission accomplishment.
Currently the majority of the UAVs operated by the United States are military assets, and as such
are subject to policies, requirements and regulations of the military. These safety requirements will
be briefly discussed. As unmanned systems are integrated into national airspace they will be
operated in increasing numbers by civil operators, for this reason we will also look at civil safety
requirements. UAS will also present some unique situations which have up to this point not been
experienced; this will require new areas to be incorporated into the aviation industrial safety arena
to ensure our current level of safety is not degraded through their inclusion. This paper will
investigate aviation industrial safety as it applies specifically to

Jane Addams And Her Fight For Social Reform
Jane Addams and her Fight for Social Reform
For years, Jane Addams has been known as a social activist who created the first settlement home in
the United States. However, many people often disregard the fact that she has accomplished a
significant amount of other things throughout her life that will always make her a significant icon
in history. Were it not for Jane Addamsleadership and contribution towards the creation of the first
U.S. Hull House, social changes such as child labor, women s suffrage, and peace may not have
occurred in the United States. Growing up in Cedarville, Illinois where both educated and non
educated women struggled to be seen and heard in the public s eye, encouraged social activist,
Jane Addams, to strive to make great changes in her society. Her many achievements such as
graduating as valedictorian, being the first student to receive a bachelor s degree at the Rockford
Female Seminary in 1881, and co founding the first U.S. Hull House, has helped show that she was
very determined to make a change. After a few years of trying to improve her community, her drive
to make it better soon made for greater social changes throughout the entire country.
As a woman that underwent not being able to obtain a decent job involving any public role
besides school teaching and missionary work, Addams wanted to do something that would make it

Hybrid Vehicles and Their Effect on the Environment Essay
Today, people use their own personal vehicles to travel more than ever before. Personal
transportation is no longer considered a luxury; it is now considered a necessity. The number of
cars in the United States has been growing steadily since the 1970s. The number of miles traveled
by cars has risen nearly 150 percent, yet the United States population has only grown roughly 40
percent during that time (hybridcars.com, Driving Trends). Although it may seem like we are
advancing into the future, in reality, we are moving backwards from the effects these vehicles have

On the other hand, there are still other pollutants that have a greater effect on people and the
environment.
Carbon Monoxide Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas that affects the flow of
oxygen to one s brain and other parts of the body. This gas merges with the hemoglobin in a person
s blood, which then weakens the flow of oxygen in the body (hybridcars.com, Pollutants). The
effects are severe and in some cases deadly towards smokers and people with heart disease
(Larminie 246). This toxin can permanently alter the central nervous system throughout the body
(hybridcars.com, Pollutants). Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are not the only pollutants that
come from vehicles. Sulphur and Nitrogen Oxides Sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides both have
great effect on the lungs. Sulphur oxides cause respiratory illnesses, mostly in children, the elderly,
and people who already have heart and lung diseases (hybridcars.com, Pollutants). Nitrogen oxide
causes the lungs to be irritated and increase the chances of infection. Nitrogen oxide can also react
with other surrounding agents to cause ground level ozone, or smog. The creation of the ozone then
irritates the eyes, damages the lungs and causes respiratory problems (Larminie 246).

How Did The Norman Conquest Influence Western Civilization

The Norman Conquest was a very brutal time during 1066 A.D. Therefore, the Norman Conquest

Normans were interested in the wealth of nearby England. As Edward the Confessor, was laid

When marketing a product or service the organisation needs to make sure it will satisfy the customer

6.Plan and control all marketing activities so as to target the right message to the right consumer
segment at the right time.
c)
Private organisations use marketing to help them achieve their goals and aims. They use
different marketing strategies to attract people to what they are providing. Big companies like
Asda and Nike can advertise regularly of television to get the maximum amount of people to
view their offers, smaller companies find it hard to raise the funds for their advertisements to
appear on television. Promotional deals can increase a business s sales and turnover. If a
product isn t selling at its current price, it might be put on sale under a promotional offer (i.e.
buy one get 1 free). This is a good way to clear the remaining stock and people whom might not
normally buy the product may try it because of the promotional offer which the possibility of
liking it and repeat purchasing. Another promotional deal they could use will involve working
with a newspaper. They could offer money off vouchers in a newspaper which could influence
more people to but the paper and to shop at their store. E.g. the Sun has advertised a free loaf of
bread for every user and in recent times, people are trying to spend as little money as possible.
Most private organisations have the main aim of earning profit and they wish to extend that profit
as much as they can, business do this though

Benefits Of Tryouts
For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but
now with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the
terrible players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a
kind of physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on
the team and what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts
are beneficial for both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces
the number of players and therefore helps develop gifted players. Tryouts cut down moneyby letting
those who are good stay making it better for games that are very costly such as football. This is
why many believe that sports are beneficial because they don t put poorer schools in debt, also it
doesn t make schools have to pay to get the materials needed, and finally they make it fair for the
good players by giving them more playing time.
My first reason why I believe tryouts are beneficial is because they don t put poor schools in debt
for expensive games because they wouldn t be able to pay for things such as equipment and
transportation. This is significant to my case because the expenses for a high school team ... Show

Analysis Of I Do White By African American
I Would Be Genuine
What Would I Do White? is a poem that not only emphasized how the African American
Community viewed White People, but realized that they did not want to be like them. At the
beginning of the last stanza there is a line which acknowledges that the Black Community registered
that they would do nothing if they were white (Jordan, 101). This is significantly important because
the start of the poem kicks off with a question. What would I do White? or what would I do if I was
white (Jordan, 101)? June Jordan, the writer of this poem then continues giving uncomplimentary
information about White Community. The second and third stanza contain the lifestyle that Jordan
sees white people have during her time. She explains that not

Advantages Of Twinning In Healthcare
Twinning is a concept that compares two similar groups, organizations, or people (Twinning, n.d.).
In the healthcare field, twinning often occurs between a rich country and a poor country that
struggles with providing healthcare to its citizens (MacDonagh, Jiddawi, Parry, 2002). Advantages
of the twinning program are regular contact and collaboration between the two countries as well as
the setting of goals with monitoring and adjustments being made as necessary (MacDonagh, et al.,
2002). Twinning programs among businesses and organizations follow the same goal setting and
monitoring as it does in the healthcare industry. With the twinning program established by
ArcelorMittal, the struggling Burns Harbor Mill was paired with a stronger

DATA MINING AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS
Data Mining is the computerized acknowledgment of diverse patterns in extensive data sets that are
past analysis. It utilizes diverse mathematic algorithms to locate the right information as well as
foresee the probability of future events. Some key properties that I learned in this topic are:
discovery of useful patterns
predictions of their future outcomes
analysis on larger datasets
useful data from them With increasing data the storage of the data must also be increased, which
is a problem. So, data is stored or recorded in the form of computer data bases which makes easy
to access the right data at any given point of time. To extract the right data from all these present
volumes of data, usually certain traditional way of data analysis like regression analysis, cluster
analysis, numerical taxonomy, multi dimensional analysis, time series analysis , estimation
outcome analysis and many more are used.
Both data mining and data analysis are a subset of Business Intelligence which also includes data
management systems, data warehouses and Online analytic processing(OLAP). To manage the
mountains of information, the data is put away in a warehouse of information accumulated from
different sources, including corporate databases, compressed data from interior frameworks, and

The Importance Of The Indian Removal Act
In class, we participated in a role play activity, which was a re play of the congress in 1830, when
the Congress was debating over whether or not to pass the Indian Removal Act. In history, the U.S.
president and the Cherokees signed a treaty, which not only established peace and friendship
between the U.S. and the Cherokees, but also guaranteed the Cherokees right to use their land
forever. However, the peaceful and friendly relationship was broken in 1830, when the Indian
RemovalAct was passed by the congress; the bill authorized the president to grant unsettled land
west of Mississippi in exchange for the lands that the Indians own currently. Although many resisted
the removal policy, many natives were eventually forced to leave their lands. Since the day the
Indian Removal Act was effective, the fate of the Cherokees were doomed approximately 4,000
Cherokees died on the march to the west, the situation continued to worsen as they reached their
relocated lands. Throughout the debate of The Indian Removal Act in the congress, many strong
and valid arguments were made. For instance, the Cherokeegroup launched an attack to the Andrew
JacksonAdministration group by querying the reasons of why they broke the treaty. The Andrew
Jackson Administration remained calm and they explained that the reason why that broke the treaty
is solely for the betterment of the U.S.; they argued that the importance of the nation s economy
growth outweighed the trust and friendship with

Employee Turnover And The Banking Sector
Employee Turnover in the Banking Sector The current global business environment is proving to be
shaky especially due to the ripple effects of globalization. Both local and international businesses
are increasingly feeling the pressure to grow initial investments in order to fulfill the needs of
stakeholders. Even as these businesses continue to make adjustment to measure up to the
international standard thresholds, the area of human resources continues to readjust itself in
accordance with current market demands. Clarke et al (2010) documented that the field of human
resource has for a long time been considered the epicenter of any economy s development processes.
The highly competitive business environment coupled with highly deteriorating on social
conditions that have weighed in on the employees thus causing high turnover in the banking
institutions. Various definitions of employee turnover have cropped, however, according to
Griffeth (2004), employee turnover is considered to be the ratio of the total headcount of members
that have left an organization within a specified period divided by the standard number of
employees during the period under consideration. It has widely been interpreted as a measure of
general effectiveness of human resources in that a high turnover translates to low effectiveness and
vice versa. Employee turnover is a big problem prevalent in many institutions and is mostly
associated with actions taken by organizations to reduce expenses and

The Republican Party And The Democratic Party Essay
The Republican Party has long relied on the support of older, white, conservatives. Regrettably,
they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking
voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to
the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Partyneeds to look forward to
true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatismto appeal to
millennials interests to stay relevant on the national political scene.
David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He
himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite backed candidates or
tactical concession on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most
confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the
Republican party relevant is, in his words, to change the rules of the game. (Frum 2016) Parties
are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party s) political and
ideological goals. Frum recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done
quite well on down ballot elections. For this reason, they have the ability to exert considerably
more control over voting and election processes than Democrats. For example, having the ability to
gerrymander as well as change voter registration rules

  • 2. Essay on Attacks on the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania On August 7, 1998, two U.S. embassies were attacked almost simultaneously. One was in Nairobi, Kenya and the other in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attack in Kenya involved both a truck bomb and at least two suicide bombers. The truck was at the back entrance of the embassy when the bomb went off, and the damage was critical. This attack had more casualties than the bombing in Tanzania because the truck that contained the bomb was able to get into the inner embassy compound. Also, the Nairobi embassy was close to the center of the city which was more populated and led to more deaths. The U.S. embassy was not the only building affected in the explosion. She had been meeting outside with Joseph Kamotho, Kenya s trade minister. Their first thought from hearing the smaller blast was that it must be the noise from construction. Another victim, Linda Howard, witnessed the explosion around 10:40 A.M. She was on the fourth floor of the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and was in a meeting. Soon after she heard the small explosion, she suddenly realized that all of the windows were currently being blasted, the roof was caving in, and smoke seemed to appear from every direction. Before she had analyzed what was going on, she was being yelled at by Embassy guards to get down on the floor. After fifteen minutes of crawling around without being able to see, they had reached the ground floor. What Howard saw next terrified her. She saw lifeless bodies, fires everywhere, and the screams of terrified people. Bill Bar who is director of the U.S. Information Service in Kenya, was also at the same meeting as Linda Howard. He also recalls hearing a thump and thought it was possibly the sound of a grenade being thrown at the embassy. Some also recall hearing gunfire outside of the embassy before the big explosion. • 3. The Compromise Of The Declaration Of Independence Essay It was a Thursday in 1776; the Second Continental Congress was meeting to sign the Declaration of Independence. In the very words of the document, Americans agreed to the ideas that all men were created equal with unalienable rights; among these were Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The young country, even though there were different opinions and ideas had compromised for the betterment of all Americans. Compromise; the definition is the agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. The country had extensive opportunities to compromise on laws, territories, societies, and industrializations. By 1860, the sense of compromise started to disappear, and America stood on the verge of monumental discord. The Compromise of 1820 brought both sides of the slavery debate to an agreement. In 1819, Missouri proposed to join the Union as a slave state. If Missouri joined as a slave state, this would teeter the balance in the House of Representatives with a greater number of pro slavery Congressman. In the compromise, Congress initiated a two part plan; to admit Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state and a new boundary line was drawn at longitude 36в—¦ 30 through the former Louisiana Territory separating free and slave states.1 The compromise settled each side for a time, but the sectional and political conflicts continued to escalate. Nocturia is when an individual has to frequently urinate in the middle of the night (Hall, Perry, Potter, Stockert, 2017, p. 995). The client has reported waking up between two to three times in the night to use the restroom. These frequent trips to the bathroom disrupts the clients sleep cycle and makes it difficult to fall back asleep at night. According the patient s MAR, he has Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an overactive bladder and chronic kidney disease. He is being treated with the medications finasteride, tamsulosin and oxybutynin. Finasteride and tamsulosin are used to treat BPH. The medication tamsulosin is also indicated for nocturia and acts by decreasing the contraction of smooth muscle in the prostatic capsule (Deglin, Sanoski, Vallerand, p.1164). The patient takes oxybutynin in the morning and night to treat his overactive bladder. Oxybutynin can also help treat nocturia and works by inhibiting the action of acetylcholine at the postganglionic receptors (Deglin, Sanoski, Vallerand, 2017, p.944). One of the interventions to help improve the clients sleeping pattern is to speak to his physician about possibly increasing the dose of these medications or changing medications to something that is more effective. • 5. Summary Of Tuesdays With Morrie Aphorism Narrative Aphorisms are statements of observations that express an opinion or remarks of wisdom. Tuesdays With Morrie is a book about a man who s dying from ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ( What Is ALS? ) Morrie uses aphorisms quite frequently to accept his future and make peace with the past. The two aphorisms I chose are about making your life as fulfilling as possible. Not only can they relate to me personally in small ways, but also in bigger and deeper ways. In Tuesday s with Morrie, Morrie had many aphorisms that not only helped himself but helped others. I can t completely forget about these relationships because they can help me grow and become a better person. I can t deny my faults in those relationships or blame the ending of the relationship on the other person or else I ll repeat my mistakes in other relationships. I also can t forget the positive aspects of the relationship and the happy moments without risking living a life of misery and hate. Morrie is well known for his aphorisms but he s not the only one who comes up with these words of truth. An aphorism not of Morrie s but of similar depth and effect comes from the poet, George Gordon Byron. He said, It is very certain that the desire of life prolongs it. (Aphorisms:Life) Lord Byron lived from 1788 to 1824 and was a big contribution to the Romanticism era (Lord Byron Biography). Romanticism was an era of creation made of feelings and expression and new deep thought (Romanticism). This aphorism is definitely a reflection of the era. (Romanticism) I believe that this aphorism means that being excited and enthusiastic about living and wanting to live will make your life longer. If you re always dreading or fearing life, it will appear shorter and less satisfying to you. For me personally, one of my biggest fears is death. Reading Tuesdays with Morrie made me amazed and almost jealous of Morrie s outlook on death. I always fear I ll never live a long, fulfilled life. • 6. Sinclair Lewis Struggle For Equal Rights For Women One of the features that characterized western civilization during the 20th century the push for equal rights for all emerged during the enlightenment era. By the early 20th century, feminists were promoting equal rights for women as they were becoming more present in the public sphere. However, after WWII, women were pushed back into more domestic roles. According to certain mid 20th century writers, western civilization fell short of fulfilling this promise of equality for women in that women during the 20th century were not granted rights by men in positions of power nor the same sort of equality as men within the public sphere. • 10. The Famous Greek Philosopher And The Best Greek Philosophers Socrates was known as one of the best Greek philosophers born in Athens in 469 BC. He wasn t one to keep his legacy alive by physically writing it down. Socrates was a verbal philosopher who taught orally. He always had questions beyond questions for anyone and everyone who he crossed paths with. He was a curious person and his curiosity is what lead him to become the great philosopher he is known by today. He would talk to anyone who was willing to listen, no matter the gender, wealth, or age of the person. Socrateswas known for not accepting money for his teachings. He lived a fairly poor life but he was known for his character and the way he presented himself. He taught himself before he taught others without even realizing it. Self development was the main aspect he used to tell his fellow believers, rather than focusing on becoming a wealthy person. The Socratic Methodis known as the famous process in helping people. He would ask them a number of questions and listen to what one had to say, rather than making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. His goal was to let the other person listen to themselves and realize what they are speaking. He tried to give them a voice of reasoning and have them truly understand that the answer doesn t necessarily have to come from someone else s perspectives but their own. Socrates ended up being put on trial for a number of reasons. Our modern day knowledge of the word apology has no where near the same meaning as the title ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of Mary Shelly s Winning Frankenstein Essay There are many books and movies, both fictional and non fictional that deal with some form of criminological theory. While there are some that deal with that subject to either a more or lesser extent, the interest of the audience ultimately depends on what events the story line includes and how interesting did they make that specific event. I have decided to deal with 1818, award winning Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. In the beginning of the story, a man name Robert Walton is searching for a passage that connects Russia, the Pacific Ocean, and The Arctic Ocean. Having spent weeks out there alone with his crew, he is shocked to see man nearly frozen to death out there. After rescuing the man, he tells Walton that his name is Victor Frankenstein. Walton frequently writes his sister who lives in England and tells her about Victor s terrible experience. Victor is from Switzerland and had been an extremely, very brilliant child with a strong will to have more knowledge. When Victor went off to University to quench his thirst for knowledge, a brutal illness strikes his adopted sister, Elizabeth, and his mother. Unfortunately, Scarlet Fever takes his mother s life, but Elizabeth survives. At the university, Victor had become the brightest person there, even among the teachers when it came to the subject of science. Victor ponders at the idea if he could in fact make a person and bring it to life. He decides that if he can accomplish this deed then he will perhaps be renowned the ... In the ambition for more, the Romans encountered the city of Carthage which was a growing city building upon their strength that Rome wished acquire (Morey, 1901). In the following we will take a look at how the city of Carthagebegan, the power that each city contained, and how such ambitions led to Rome becoming a great naval power. The Romans delayed in whether deciding to help out or not, but soon realized that if they didn t, Carthage would be called and acquire part of the island (Morey, 1901). It was due to their late arrival, that a Carthaginian garrison had been already admitted in the city and conquered most of the surrounding cities of the island (Morey, 1901). The Romans, though, achieved the possession of Messana (Morey, 1901). The king of Syracuse along with the Carthaginians attempted to remove the Romans out of Sicily (Morey, 1901). But the Romans showed their greater strength at land against both, the king and the Carthaginians, and which led the king to overturn their alliance in favor of the Romans (Morey, 1901). The Romans then knew that in order to win the battle against the Carthaginians, they would need a stronger navy to fight at sea (Morey, 1901). So the Romans constructed 100 replica vessels of a Carthaginian vessel that had wrecked in the coast of Italy, within 60 days (Morey, 1901). At the same time, Roman soldiers were being trained to row the vessels, and train to encounter the Carthaginians hand to hand while at sea (Morey, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Harley Quinn Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) was originally created as a character in FOX s Batman: The Animated Series to be a humorous sidekick for the Joker. In Harley s origin story, she began as a psychologist at Arkham Asylum who was assigned to treat the Joker. Eventually, Harley became infatuated with her client and willingly gave up her career in order to be the Jokers partner in crime. As the animated series and future comics progressed, Harley was reduced to an extremely sexualized female villain for fans to ogle at and a woman who felt a complete loss of identity whenever the Joker was absent. When Harley was sent on her mission with the squad, she never made any mention of the Joker. Instead, she focused on making her time in her assigned mission enjoyable for herself by making new friends within the squad and proudly fighting anyone who threatened her. However, she was ecstatic when the Joker showed up to take her home with him in an elaborate escape plan. At the end of the film, Harley is sent back to prison after she previously failed to escape. She is living happily on her own for a second time with request items to make prison life more tolerable as a reward for her success in her assigned mission. Again in the film, the Joker strips Harley of her independent life and places her back into the role of a damsel in distress. Once again, Harley is ecstatic when she is rescued even though she had shown in previous scenes of the film that she was fully capable of being an independent woman. The film shows Harley as a woman who is still able to succeed and is able to manage her own life in the absence of her significant other; this characteristic supports the progressive notion that women possess the strength of achieving success on their own. • 15. Organizational Structures Have Impacted Organizational... Organizational structures have changed greatly in the last fifty years. Whereas most organizations were once rigid and centralized, most organizations are now taking advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. These new structures have affected the standard relationships between employees and managers. Additional layers of managementhave been created which blur the lines between the functions of managers and the functions of employees. Employees have become decision makers, and some managers barely have any authoritative power. Subsequently, these changes to organizational structures have impacted organizational strategies. This too, expounds upon the increased power of the employee and the reduced authority of the manager. The changes in organizational strategies make use of the dispersion of power in order to reduce costs and enable additional safeguards within these organizations. Pertaining to the neoteric avant garde in bureaucratic concatenations from parochial to insouciant, more unerringly decentralization and the divergence of paramountcy, nuclear transmogrifications have germinated which perturb the paradigmatic consanguinity betwixt suzerains and proletariats. For example, employees are now often given a budget with which they can use to rectify an issue that a customer may have. To illustrate, an up and coming grocery store called The Fresh Market grants each employee the power to provide free merchandise to any customer, up to a twenty five dollar ... Those are some good words to sum up brisket, because everyone thinks the way do it is the way. In my family smoking is a tradition, we ve been doing it for about 5 years me and my dad but we do have a little history in it. We use a great blend of savory spice to make the brisket have the best flavor it can possibly have. But the most important start to the whole process is selecting the right brisket. A good brisket should have a nice fat cap in the top, and should have a very good marble to the meat. If not your brisket will be as dry as a shoes leather. After selecting the most prime brisket it s time to get down to my favorite part. It s prep time, this is even more key than selecting the brisket. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment, shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly depict characters loss of innocence. Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from returning to their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. Southerners were afraid of all this new political power towards the Negroes, so they did whatever they could to limit that power, and made it nearly impossible for Negroes to vote with the new laws they passed. With the Ku Klux Klan being formed and more discriminatory acts to interfere with black voting rights, it was not until the civil rights movements of the 1950 s and 1960 s until the amendment was finally brought up, almost a century later. During the Ku Klux Klan era, southerners passed laws to limit the power of African Americans, otherwise known as black codes. Darkness Of Darkness Analysis As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually points out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region. The first place he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness immediately. He saw a railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the carcass of some animal (Conrad 19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway who was blowing up a cliff with objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to describe the Europeans actions connote that this was a waste of energy, brain power, and company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably used to efficiency and maximum production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of time, they cannot afford to waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns Marlow. While trying to imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal and desolate shores , of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all kinds (Raskin 122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized the waste of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and the destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. At first, the Unemployment Act excluded many types of employment such as agriculture, and jobs that earned more than $2,000 per year (Makarenko, 1). The effects are severe and in some cases deadly towards smokers and people with heart disease (Larminie 246). This toxin can permanently alter the central nervous system throughout the body (hybridcars.com, Pollutants). Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are not the only pollutants that come from vehicles. Sulphur and Nitrogen Oxides Sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides both have great effect on the lungs. Sulphur oxides cause respiratory illnesses, mostly in children, the elderly, and people who already have heart and lung diseases (hybridcars.com, Pollutants). Nitrogen oxide causes the lungs to be irritated and increase the chances of infection. Nitrogen oxide can also react with other surrounding agents to cause ground level ozone, or smog.
