Essay On Roman Empire
Writing an essay on the Roman Empire can be both a challenging and rewarding task. The
difficulty lies in the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. The Roman Empire is a vast
historical topic that spans centuries, encompassing a rich tapestry of political, social, economic,
and cultural events. To tackle such a broad subject, one must navigate through the multitude of
historical periods, key figures, wars, political structures, societal changes, and cultural
achievements.
The challenge is to strike a balance between depth and breadth. It's essential to delve into
significant events and analyze their impact while maintaining a comprehensive overview of the
entire historical trajectory. Crafting a cohesive narrative that captures the rise, peak, and fall of
the Roman Empire requires careful research, organization, and analytical skills.
Additionally, the essay should go beyond a mere recitation of facts and chronology. It should
offer insightful interpretations, draw connections between events, and explore the underlying
causes and consequences of historical developments. This requires a nuanced understanding of
the historical context and the ability to critically evaluate sources.
Moreover, addressing the diverse aspects of the Roman Empire demands proficiency in various
disciplines such as history, archaeology, sociology, and political science. Integrating these
different perspectives adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on the Roman Empire provides an opportunity for
intellectual growth and engagement with one of the most influential civilizations in history. It
encourages the development of research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate
complex ideas effectively.
For those seeking assistance with essays or other academic writing tasks, various resources are

Gun Control Laws Should Not The Safety Of The Citizens
America is the number one country for number of gun related deaths ratio each year.
In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in
Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15
51:48). Due to the United States having the greatest number of gunrelated deaths, it is
almost essential to implement gun control laws that restrict people from purchasing
and owning dangerous firearms. The laws that are created to control the guns should
ultimately keep the safety of the citizens first. Of course, there is no easy way or
solution to please both sides of the argument, but there should be a balance between
both sides.
In 2008 a survey was conducted stating: Adult poll respondents ... Show more

In the 1900s America like other counties during that time considered guns a tool used
to survive and protect. As Americans civilized the wilderness, they would eventually
be able to rely not just on their own skills at individual self defense for protection, but
on laws and civil authorities and the other institutions of government they were
building ( Whitney, Pg. 103). In the early 1900s The United Statesdid not have the
modern civil authorities that are used today. Citizens relied on firearms to protect
not only themselves but their family, and property because law enforcement was
basic and simple. What was deemed acceptable then is not now in America and that
is why the Second Amendment was ideal in the 1900s. Firearms of military grade
that have the ability to shoot 700 950 rounds/min, like the M16, did not exist.
Firearms during that time did not come close the capability of modern weapons that
are available today and that is one of the reasons why gun control was not a pressing
issue. The need for Gun control became necessary throughout history as technology
advanced and different types of firearms emerged that were more powerful and
deadly. Also the issues of people becoming more interested in guns not only for civic
duty but for entertainment/ recreational use lead to
Analysis Of The Book The Fugitive Essay
The Fugitive
One summer night Sara, Chad, Austin, Tristan, Autumn, Myles, Shelby, and I got
together to find a game to play. We met in Lincoln at South Pointe at Cold stone
creamery. We headed to the mini golf course but when we arrived the place was
packed. So we stood in the parking lot trying to figure out ideas. We were getting
nowhere when Tristan says well we can play fugitive.
None of us had ever played it or even heard of such a game. He explained it was a
game where we have two people in a car trying to find the fugitives the fugitives
start at one end of the town and the cops would start at the other. There would be a
designated place where if you made it without being captured you won the game.
So we decided Lincoln was too big to play it so we headed to our hometown of
Seward. We arrived at the ballfields and broke into four couples. Sara and Austin
were the cops and the rest of us were fugitives. They got in the burgandy van and
drove to the other side of town. Right when they were out of sight Chad and I
sprinted as fast as we could to get a head start over competition. I only made it
about half a mile before I was keeled over out of breath but Chad, who is in cross
country, kept running and left me behind. Soon I was alone walking the streetlight lit
sidewalk trying to find my way to town square. As a girl walking alone always
freaks me out especially at night so I am extra aware of my surroundings. There are
crickets chirping, wind is russeling the
A Career Path For A Career In College
This are questions that have plagued me during my whole time in college. What
career path do I want to follow? Where do I want to be in in six years? How do I
get there to begin with? What are ways for me to get contacts and network in the
field of my choosing? In what field do I want my career to developed? Those are
all questions that I have seek to answer during the writing of this paper. Therefore,
let s start by discussing what my current goals are, first graduating from college is
the number one priority. Thereafter, I will like to apply for a job in either recreation
or parks. Even though this seems like a career path slightly different from what my
current major of sports managementand recreation, there are a plethora of ways in
which they are interconnected.
During our time in class I have discovered that, the most jobs related to my field
are not exactly in the sports management side, but in the parks and recreation side
of the major. Consumers now days are more willing to spend money on recreation
than ever before. Therefore, leading to the job market of parks and recreation to be
ever increasing in both the public and private sector. To accomplish my goals in the
future I must first be able to get my foot in the door, Internships with Miami Dade
County assistant director s office or the operations office seem to be the best way to
get into a job with the county government. Nevertheless, there are skills that I must
be proficient before attempting to continue
Childhood To Adulthood Research Paper
An accomplishment that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood was
acquiring my first, professional job. I did not want to apply for a common job that
everyone had. I wanted to be different from my peers. I also wanted to do
something that correlates to my career goal of becoming an emergency room
doctor, or a pediatrician. I immediately thought of becoming a lifeguard at Great
Wolf Lodge. This job could help me get into the field of healthcare and medicine,
and help prepare me for my future career. Once I submitted my application for a
lifeguard position to Great Wolf, I felt responsible and empowered for making my
own decisions. This was the first step of my transition from childhood to
adulthood. A week after I submitted my application, I got an email from one of the
aquatic managers, asking if I could come in for an interview the following week.
On the day of the interview after two hours of questions, I received the news that I
got hired. At this point, I was so proud of myself. I had my doubts and I expected
the worse, but I did not let my fear get the best of me. I have just passed the second
step of my transition from childhood to adulthood, and I passed the third step when I
finished guard class and started working. The first day on the job, I... Show more

throughout the people around me and my community. I know that in college there
will be many developments I would have to adapt to such as a new school,
professors, and classmates. In the workforce of an emergency room, I will always
receive new patients and individuals to work with. With these new transitions, I will
also open myself to learn new concepts and perspectives, along with gaining
confidence and being comfortable as I acquire more knowledge about the world

The Eucharist Of The Catholic Church
The Eucharist according to Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Eucharist is one of the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic faith. For some it is the
most important sacrament of the faith. What is the Catechism of the Catholic
Church? What does it say about the Eucharist? This is what will be discussed during
this paper.
To start off the answering the first question, the Catechism is a according to the
website uscatholic.org it is a compendium of all Catholic doctrine regarding both faith
and morals. There have been many Catechisms throughout the history of the Catholic
religion. Regarding this paper we will be discussing the Eucharist in the most recent
Catechism that was promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1992 to coincide with the
second Vatican Council.
The Catechism specifically Part two article three discusses the The Sacrament of the
Eucharist it is broken down into seven parts. First we must define what a sacrament
is. A Sacrament is a religious rite or observance. The Sacrament of the Eucharist
completes the Christian initiation according to the Catechism, it is the source of

Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms
our way of thinking.

it is the action of thanksgiving to God. There are different names they call this, The

As a Future Educator of Music, I am Inspired by the...
Educators are set in place to guide us through a thorough understanding of a
subject, and give us enough information to suffice without their immediate
guidance. In piano class, our Professors have been taught to use specific methods
on breaking down the skills to becoming a pianist. From scales to score reading, all
of the lessons are used to gain a sustainable amount of self knowledge to plunk out
notes for our future choirs or assist our own rehearsals in a practice room. Guido of
Arezzo, musical therapist, pedagogue and author of Micrologus suggested a lack of
common knowledge is one of the main causes for an individual to not put forth the
appropriate efforts to achieve a perfect understanding of the task. Guido Arentinus

Guido created a learning tool for the singers to use as a visual reference during their
practice times known as the Guidonian Hand. The letter name of the note and syllable
were placed on a joint of the singers hand to help with the memory process of a chant,
and the visualization of the interval at which the notes were sequenced. Another
invention Guido took part of was the beginning to musical notation. He knew he
needed a uniform visual reference, that once you have gained the proper
knowledge of interpretation, could be used in every church under the rule.
Notation prior to Guido s invention was not beneficial to a singer who has not yet
heard the chant or melody before. His musical notation included colors, lines, and
clefs that specified the size of the intervals and distinct pitch. As a future educator
of music, I find myself very inspired by Guido s passion to further his pupils
musical education, even if their destinies did not foresee them becoming musicians.
Although I may have more musical knowledge than the singers in 1025, I
understood his concepts clearly and was able to relate them to modern day methods
we use today. When I was first learning how to read music, we were taught solfege
to learn the different placements of intervals and pitches, just as singers in the
Medieval era did with Guido s solmization syllables. These
Manley Pointer Vs Misfit
The Manley Pointer and the Misfit
The Manley Pointer and the Misfit have many similarities and differences. They
both play the role of the bad guy, or the antagonist in the stories by Flannery O
Connor. They also leave the two main woman, the Grandma and Hulga dazed and
scared. The Grandmother s last words and actions were, Why you re one of my
babies. You re one of my own children! She reached out and touched him on the
shoulder. The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and shot her three
times through the chest. This shows he s incapable of feeling or recieving contact or
love from another human. While, Hulga and Manley Pointer s last moments spent

the antagonist, the story ends differently for both women. The Grandmother was
shot and killed, while the Manley Pointer left Hulga alive, only leaving with her
wooden leg. Another comparison between the two is that they both have done this
before. This wasn t the Misfits first kill, and this wasn t Manley Pointer s first time
harassing a woman and taking a token. Pointer says, I ve gotten a lot of interesting
things, he said. One time I got a woman s glass eye this way. And you needn t to

Assess the effectiveness of the criminal justice system when dealing with young
offenders
The criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique policies to
address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. They take special care
when dealing with juveniles in order to stop them from repeat offending and stop any
potential bad behaviour which could result in future. Juveniles have the highest
tendency to rehabilitate and most adopt law abiding lifestyles as they mature. There
are several factors influencing juvenile crime including psychological and social
pressures unique to juveniles, which may lead to an increase in juvenile s risks of
contact with the criminal justice system.

Discuss factors that affect sentencing decisions, including the purposes of punishment
and the role of the victim
Statutory and judicial guidelines inform the exercise of judicable discretion in the
area of sentencing. They aim to provide greater uniformity in sentencing matters and
enhance the integrity of the process. Judicial guidelines are set by the NSW Court of
Criminal Appeal. They are not binding but their aim is to structure discretion. For
example, for the offence of culpable driving the court has indicated that in the normal
course a custodial sentence should be imposed unless exceptional circumstances
exist. In terms of statutory guidelines a number of acts inform the exercise of
judicial discretion. For example, the Crimes Act 1900 NSW prescribes the maximum
sentence that may be imposed for various offences. The Crimes (Sentencing
Procedure) Act 1999 NSW also prescribes general guidelines in relation to
sentencing. For example it
Consequences Of Pollution
People have heard of pollution, but what some don t know is that there are many
types of pollution. Pollution can have different consequences depending on what
kind there is. In the world so far there are only nine types of pollution that have been
recognized. Although this can be negative to the world it s also affecting the health of
people as well. In order to understand what pollutioncan do to you and the world you
need to know the types that are causing the harm.
The first type is air pollution. This type can be harm to the world by contaminating
the atmosphere. It can come in matter like dust or excessive gases such as carbon
dioxide or vapors that can t be removed through nature that not even the cycles can
remove them such as the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. Vehicles, forest fires,
volcanic eruptions, dry soil erosion, building construction or demolition and other
natural sources are another cause of air pollution. Although there isn t much of
volcanic eruptions or dry soil erosions those are the ones that seem to be the most
dangerous for other parts of the world while the rest are more common. Study
shows that science prove that they believe global warming is also a way to increase
the air pollution. The largest source of nitrogen is in the atmosphere. Without
nitrogen in the atmosphere the crops can be lost and would affect farmers. If the
farmers are affected there won t be as much crop production to be sold anywhere and
the government would have to
Gender Stereotypes In The Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine film (2006) tells the story of seven year old Olive Hoover who

California. Her family reluctantly supports her and travels across the country to
ensure that her dreams come true. Set in contemporary America, the filminvokes

of beauty and behaviour. Feminist theorists such as Naomi Wolf and Wendy Chapkis

as inferior to men. Beauty culture that aims to socialise girls from a young age to

Throughout the film we are witness to the immense work and time invested in the
process of becoming feminine. Foucault s governmentally refers to individuals own
regulation of their behaviour and of others communicated through cultural authorities
such as institutions and the media. Beauty Pageants which are televised are a source
of authority over a beauty standard and behavioural guidelines provide consequently
connected to the shaping and enforcing of feminine practices. (Ouellette and Hay,
2008:471). Robinson and Davies, 2008:350) When when Olive is required to compete
in the talent category of the competition she unintentionally performs a striptease that
was taught to her by her drug addicted grandfather. When Olive s sexually suggestive
performance is faced with horror from the audience, her family supports her by
jumping on the stage and performing similarly suggestive sexual dance moves.
Ironically, the audience judges the parents as encouraging adult like behaviour and
leaves the auditorium in disgust, while pageant officials unsuccessfully try to stop the
performance. The pageant officials act as gender police and try to interfere in the
performance as a mechanism of controlling Olive s deviant behaviour. Beauty
pageants are a justified practice through the belief that femininity and sexuality is a
form of female empowerment, however, it contributes and perpetuates patriarchal
Life Of A College Freshman
Whether you are a monster or a human you will find that in life there are going to
obstacles that you must overcome. The life of a college freshman is no different
than the life outside of college. By analyzing the main characters in the movies in
Back to School (BTS) and Monsters University (MU) we can see the direct effects
college has on these students lives. The similarities and differences of the movie
BTS and MU, reveal stereotypical incoming attitudes, the reasons for attendance,
and the lessons learned of closely connected, college freshman. In the movie MU,
one of the main characters is James Sullivan, or as more commonly known as
Sully. Living on the previous successes of his family, particularly his father, Sully
felt he had a lot to prove to his peers and professors. Which ultimately led to him
meeting, Mike, who would become his most unlikely, best friend. If we take a look
at Sully s stature we see that he possesses an innate ability to scare. His natural
scaring qualities ranged from his height and muscle, to his sharp, frightening teeth,
giving him an advantage that many other students did not possess. Taking into
account all of this information, it is no wonder that Sully did not have a goal for
going to college. It is this very point where we see a contrast between Sully and
Thornton from BTS. One of the similarities between Sully and Thornton are their
backgrounds. Just as Sully had a successful family, similarly Thornton did as well.

Professional Tips for Buying a Home at an Auction
Buying a home is one of the most stressful times in your life. After all, a house is
probably the biggest investment you will make in your lifetime. Buying a home at
an auction comes with more stress because the stakes are higher and going to house
auctions are out of the comfort zone for most people.
However, you don t have to go into the process feeling like you re out of your
comfort zone, or beyond your depth. The following will discuss the tips that experts
use at house auctions so you can feel comfortable and confident and handle it like the
pros.
The Best Strategies for Buying Homes at Auction

Check out the auction clearing rates in the region where you plan to buy a home at an
auction.
Part of knowing the market means knowing the true value of the houses and
properties in a given state or suburb. It s simple enough to do this research. You can
look at what s sold and for how much online in most cases, but getting to know local
real estate agents gives you a bigger advantage in that respect.
Make your bid clearly known
When you are making your bid on the house, say it loudly and state the full amount
you wish to offer every time you make a bid on the house. This reinforces the amount
you want to pay for yourself, the auctioneer, and for the other bidders and establishes
confidence in your bid. It s important to make your intentions clear to everyone there.
Once bidders know you are a serious bidder, some will be knocked out of the
competition because they are bargain hunters who don t want to pay more than they
have to pay for a house. These auction attendees are often knocked out relatively
early in the process. You ll see them leave when the bids start going up.
Make the first bid or not
Some people think that making the first bid is taboo. Many experts will tell you not
to make the first bid at a house auction, but that shouldn t be a concern. You may as
well be the first bidder. Professional auctioneers, like Graeme Hennessy say that there
is a better chance that you ll stay
The Ways Dickens Creates Mystery and Suspense in The...
Describe the ways Dickens creates mystery and suspense in The
Signalman
The Signalman by Charles Dickens, also known as No1 Branchline , is part of the
collection of short railway stories that are included in
Mugby Junctions , published in 1866. These stories appear to have been written post
the tragic Staplehurst, Kent train crash, in which
Dickens was involved, but escaped unhurt. Following the accident,
Dickens suffered from what we would call today, Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder. This may have contributed to the reflective and supernatural nature of The
Signalman .

Questions are raised about the recipient s identity~ is he the signalman?
Following the first line, he looks around to face the tunnel~ looked down the line . A
natural response to …below there would be to glance upwards. Again Dickens
constitutes the inexplicable, building up the tension and suspense.
The actions of the signalman are nondescript, his body language is unusual, and
provokes the narrator to heed that there was something remarkable in his manner .
His figure is described as foreshortened and shadowed which pronounces as sinister
and uncanny. Whilst the narrator looks down on the steep cutting he is steeped in the
glow of an angry sunset , giving the influence that he is unable to see things clearly?
The angry sunset is an example of personification that
Dickens relates. However, it also evokes dispute about the narrator s state of mind. In
a sunset he sees anger~ is this normal? He is indeed of a petulant nature.
Almost immediately the landscape evolves into jeopardy as a vague vibration arouses
and quickly erupts into a violent pulsation and an oncoming rush . These effective
adjectives that Dickens uses assist the tension of the narrative. He also sustains
mystery by withholding vital information involving the sensations and what is
causing them. An aspect of uncertainty arises. A significant lexical set of speed is
easily detected, for example, rapid , rush ,
skimming that convey peril and a feeling
Essay On Edwards-Trinity Aquifer
The Edwards Trinity Aquifer is one of Texas major aquifers, located in west central
Texas and spanning near 42,000 square miles as shown in figure 1 (Barker and
Ardis 1996, 2). The aquifer encompasses 36 counties including major counties such
as Crockett, Edwards and Val Verde as shown in figure 2 (Hopkins 1995, 2). The
population is relatively sparse, with most of the population located in small cities
Anaya 2001, 100). It is divided into four subareas based on the topography of each
area, Edwards plateau, Trans Pecos, Hill Country and Balcones fault zone (Barker
and Ardis 1996, 5). Edwards plateau has two types of terrain, the interior of the
plateau is fairly flat with a gradual slope, and the outer portions are more rugged with
canyons... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The minor aquifers are Dockum, the Capitan, the Rustler, the Hickory, the
Ellenburger San Saba, the Lipan and to a small amount Marble Falls (Anaya 2001,
113). The aquifer is mostly unconfined but is semi confined in parts of the Trinity
(Anaya 2001, 113). The direction of the groundwater flow is controlled by the
areas of discharge, which are displayed by the strong influence of the streams form
on the potentiometric surface (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). The predominant
direction of the groundwater flow is northwest to southeast, caused the base slope
of the aquifer (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). This flow is also normal to the
potentiometric surface as shown in figure 3, except where the aquifer is
anisotropic (Barker and Ardis 1996, 37). Most of the recharge that occurs in the
Edward Trinity aquifer happens from infiltration of precipitation over the outcrops
and the sinkholes (Anaya 2001, 113). The average recharge rate over the eastern
part of the plateau is 0.12 to 2.24 inches per year whereas over the Trans Pecos
region is 0.3 to 0.4 inches per year (Anaya 2001, 113). In certain areas of the
plateau such as Pecos and Reeves counties there is induced recharge being caused
from the water level declines due to irrigation pumping (Anaya 2001, 116). Discharge
occurs in the southern and eastern portions from cross formational flow
Gender Stereotypes In Rush Hour
Rush Hour 2 features Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker), who works for
LAPD, and his friend, Chief Inspector Lee who works for Honk Kong Police
Department (Jackie Chan). The movie begins in Hong Kong where Carter visits
Lee on vacation however, soon after Carters arrival, Lee receives a call from his
boss, who informs him that the Hong Kong Police suspect that Ricky Tan, the
cunning head of the Fu Cang Long Triads gang, is responsible for an explosion in the
American embassy that killed two Americans. As the movie proceeded, it was clear
how entertainment was portraying and representing the Chinese culture
stereotypically through magnifying and focusing the issues with gang related
violence. In Hollywood, the Asians in the film are always depicted having guns. In
RH2, the women are even portrayed as tough, shown by Hu Li, a gang member with
the Triads, and the womanin the market women who is shown slaughtering chickens.

Aside the violence and the language in relation to the Asian culture, there is also
the way that media portrays their sexuality and their overall ethics. For example,
Carter who is African American is portrayed as a loud, obnoxious, and highly
sexual. While on the job, he is constantly attempting to romanticize the women of
Hong Kong, whereas Lee remains fully aware and attentive to the job. Lee also
takes his job very seriously where in contrast, Carter is constantly fooling around
and is shown gambling at the craps table, and then says, My people did not go
through 362 years of slavery just so you could send us back to the cotton fields
with $500 chips! A clear portrayal of how both races, and in this case the Asians, are
stereotyped and shown to the public by the media as what it should be defined
Life Worthy Of The Calling You Have Received
Live a life worthy of the calling you have received (Ephesians 4:1). In a world
where Christianity is becoming more unusual, it is important for those who are
Christians to possess traits such as maturity, gentleness, patience, and forgiveness.
Unfortunately, sometimes these traits are taken over by our sinfulness. Sin is the
rebellion against the divine law of God. As we look at sin today, we see it as a
system of ranking, however God sees all sin as equal. Knowing this, it becomes
critical that we don t conform to what society does. Some sinful behaviors that
people should be more educated about are sex outside of marriage, homosexuality,
and sarcasm.
As sex becomes more exposed in society, there are many controversial topics. Sex
to some is considered personal and private, while others believe sex is seductive
and it sell. In a survey by The National Health and Social Life it was discovered that
many people say that married sex is the most satisfying. This interesting finds
brings up the topic of God s design for sex. God says that sex is for a
complimentary pair, meaning a man and a woman. God also designed sex to be
inside a permanent union. God created sex for procreation, pleasure, and bonding.
The sexual revolution of the 1960s completely changed what sex looked like in
society. Sex was detached from procreation, marriage, gender, and most importantly
God. This sexual revolution trend still continues today. Many people have sex
outside of marriage, and for some

Abstract: Martha McCaskey has been consistently outperforming herself maintaining
high levels of integrity in each project assignment. Currently, she was the project
lead for a critical project entitled Silicon 6 which apart from having high significance
for her personal career also had high significance from her company s future
perspective. The projectrequired Martha to research upon manufacturing technologies
and plant setup costs for a computer chip that the client s competitor was planning to
launch soon. Martha has been promised a promotion to group manager and the
organization has been offered interest in assigning approximately 10 new projects.
The project presents an ethical dilemma in front of Martha wherein she needs access

The case speaks about a project wherein McCaskey was able to get project critical
information just 3 4 days before the final presentation and hence I feel the best
alternative for McCaskey would be to best utilize the week available at hand in
gaining additional information. In doing so, she can first of all begin with
interviewing Devon but not to gain proprietary information about the target company
but utilize him as a professional consultant who could assist them in researching upon
the latest manufacturing technologies used in computer chips manufacturing and the
associated operating costs. Devon had recently helped a European company in setting
up a manufacturing plant and seemed extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about
the semiconductor industry. The discussion can be focused to revolve around the key
trends and technologies affecting the semiconductor industry. Interviewing Devon
with direct questions to seek proprietary information about the target company would
compromise McCaskey s business values and also possibly tarnish her name in the
consulting industry. Devon had been extremely supportive and informative in the
first meeting but as a good business professional without giving away any proprietary
information about any company and hence could have taken legal action against IAD
once he realized the intentions of McCaskey. Also, there was no guarantee that
Two Versions of the Song Roxanne Essay
Many say that music has evolved over the years. This essay shall explore the
elements of two versions of one song. It shall discuss the correlations and disparities
of these songs and confer how it has been revolutionised to entertain the audiences of
today.
The two songs which shall be scrutinized shall be Roxanne. Originally released in
1978, it was performed by The Police . The cover version El Tango de Roxanne was
rearranged by Mariano Mores in Moulin Rouge, 2001.
The main gist of the song is Sting telling his girlfriend that she doesn t have to be a
prostitute anymore. One could say that repeating the words Roxanne, you don t have
to put on the red light in the song causes it to become the main idea of this song. As

The off beat sequences of the electric guitar create a reggae feel for the song
endorsing it to be mellow. Throughout the song, the electric guitardoes not have any
solos but variations of its sequence are repeated throughout the structure of the song.
Doing so gives the lead singers message more priority. The domination of the classic
drum kit creates a head bobbing motion for some when listening to this song, helping
it become more popular and an easily enjoyable song.
The cover version of Roxanne (El tango de Roxanne) uses classical instruments to
create a genuine tango feel; violins, viola, cello and Spanish guitar. The song
consists of many layers of instruments creating a thick texture at times. With the
violins being the base of this, the viola and Spanish guitar both have solos instead
of consistent melodies throughout the song, giving short but addictive glimpses. As
violins are presented in a certain way for this song, it is known that the genre for
this version is tango. The structure of the composition in the style of tango creates
sexual temptation. This creates the atmosphere for the style of dancing and is
reflected in the scene for this song. This genre was an excellent choice as it flows
with the story line and amplifies the prostitution through the style of music. One may
say that it appeals to dancers, and the age groups of teenagers and above, as the
sexual captivation could be a luring
How Did Andrew Carnegie Change The Economy
As well as J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie was certainly another individual who
assumed great leadership and transformed the ways of the U.S. economy during the
Gilded Age. He concentrated his works on the Steel industry. He helped the United
States switch from an agricultural and commercial nation to the greatest industrial
nation in the world. A document published by Gale: Cengage Learning even stated,
In years of recession and depression he kept running his plants, undercutting
competitors, and assuring employment for his workers. Obviously, he was a strong
competitor among the entrepreneurs of the time. He kept his prices low while also
expanding markets for steelproducts. In fact, he established the J. Edgar Thomson

In addition, Carnegie s company built the first steel plants in the United States that
used the Bessemer steel making process, a revolutionary industrial development
that also produced steel from iron cheaply and efficiently. (Hendrick 5). However,
like J.P. Morgan, Carnegie, too, eliminated competition by buying other companies.
He also used a method, known as vertical combination. This meant that he bought
firms that were interdependent for the supply of raw materials for processing, like
railroad companies and iron mines. By owning these businesses, Carnegie was
able to reduce his costs and produce steel cheaper. As Carnegie s methods made the
manufacturing of steel faster, easier and inexpensive, he was considered a steel
magnate. He created a steel empire by taking ownership or factories, raw materials
and transportation infrastructure involved in steel making in order to eliminate any
inefficiencies that would keep him from profiting as much as he could. However,
while he put so much effort into keeping his costs down, he did not keep his workers
best interest at heart. By supplying his products at a lower cost than his competitors,
he overworked and
Rfid And Radio Frequency Identification
1.INTRODUCTION
NFC is an extension of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). RFID combines the
interface of a smart card and a reader into a single device.
NFC is a short range wireless technology that provides secured two way interaction
between electronic devices. Here, the communications are established in a simple
way i.e. it does not require any special set up by the users which is required for many
wireless communication technologies. NFC provides users the contactless
communication i.e. access digital content and connect electronic devices together
with in a distance of about 4 to 5 centimeters. As no physical connections are required
for near field communication, the connection becomes more reliable.
NFC allows users to share the content or the data between two electronic devices, pay
bills wirelessly or even use their cell phone as an electronic travelling ticket on
existing contactless infrastructure which is already in use for public transportations.
The significant advantage over NFC is the shorter set up time. For Bluetooth we need
to set up manual configurations, instead of that the connection between NFC devices
can be established at once and quickly. NFC, due to its shorter range provides a
higher security than Bluetooth. Thus it makes NFC suitable for crowded areas where
correlating a signal with its transmitting physical device might otherwise prove
impossible.

John Irving Compare And Contrast
Often, events or situations that occurred in someone s early life can definitely
affect their way of thinking or how they currently do certain things. A lot of
authors, whether they re aware of this or not, apply their previous experiences into
their short stories, novels, or poems. Sometimes it s little things like giving a
character similar traits to someone they know, and other times the author would
base the entire work off of his or her own life. In John Irving s case, he didn t
paraphrase everything that had happened to him up until then, but he added one
crucial detail that was enough to make a huge difference in his books. Two of John
Irving s novels, The World According to Garp and A Prayer for Owen Meany both

and sometimes visiting a vacation home in Long Island, New York ( John Irving

home town for a crucial fraction of the main character s life. A Prayer for Owen
Meany is a novel about a student attending Phillips Exeter Academy and how his
childhood friend changed his view on religion. This book became Irving s next

the next few years of his life, Irving published A Son of the Circus, 1995, A Widow

Geographical Impact On Human History
History can be defined in many ways and is told differently by hundreds of historians
throughout the world, but one common connecting thread in the definition of history
is that it tells the story of how human life came to be what it is today. History is the
research, analysis, knowledge, and documentation that tells the people of the world
what came before them that allows them to live their life the way that they do in this
time period. Because the world that came before now is such a vast period of time
and space, it is important to understand the smaller, but still quite monumental,
factors that shaped human historyand culture. Geography is one of those factors.
Through geographical impacts such as climate change, rivers, and fertile land,... Show

Like in Mesopotamia, the beginning of civilization and settlement in Egypt also
began with a climate change. This change, during 5000 4000 B.C.E., caused the
deserts in the Sahara to form, forcing people towards the Nile River, which
provided a strong support system to the community. This could be seen in the
effects of the annual flooding of the river. According to The Making of the West,
This predictable annual flood enriched the soil with nutrients from the river s silt
and diluted harmful mineral salts, thereby making farming more productive and
supporting strong population growth. Because the Nile was the main life source
for the Egyptian population, it became a large part of the Egyptian culture as well.
This can be seen in the Hymn to the Nile written around 2100 B.C.E., which
celebrates the Nile as a life giving and seemingly supernatural power. Not only did
geography influence the agriculture of Egypt, but also the religious practices of it s
people. The impact on geography on history is undoubtedly illustrated in the major
impact of the Nile on the life and culture of the
Bail Bond Process
When a family member or close friend goes to jail, the remaining loved ones will
want to help with the bail bonds process. Unfortunately, most people don t have a
lot of experience with the process so it can be overwhelming, confusing and a
touch frightening for all parties involved. Choosing a bail bonds company is one
of the most important considerations for removing a loved one from jail. It s
imperative that the bail bonds company is made up of professionals that know
what they are doing. The Bail Process The process of bailing someone out of jail
refers to the amount of money paid to the court to release the prisoner. Once the
prisoner is released, the bail helps to ensure that the defendant shows up for their
court date. A prisoner who doesn t show up for court can cause the bail to be
forfeited. Often, defendants will show up for court because they don t want their
loved ones to lose their money. Bail varies depending on the crime, the defendant s...

The more popular option for bailing a loved one out of jail is bail bonds. Bail
Bonds The bond itself shouldn t take more than a half hour to obtain, but once the
bond is obtained, it could take hours to have the defendant released. The bail bonds
company requires a percentage of the total bail up front before they ll put up the
rest of the bond amount with the court. In California, the maximum premium is
10% of the bond requested by the judge. The Process Explained Responsibility
When a family member or friend of the defendant asks Espinosa Bail Bonds for
help, the company will explain the family s responsibility when securing the bond.
The defendant s family or friend becomes the cosigner. The cosigner is promising to

The Canadian government never transitioned from an authoritarian government, and
instead maintained itself as a democracy from before the Residential Schools began
till modern day society. With this knowledge, it is clear why there was no attempt to
find the facts about the state s transgression and how they played a part in the
internationally recognized conflict because it did not only implicate the old
government but the current one as well. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions
assume that conflict arose from an authoritarian government and that a democratic

Subject Matter Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction is a term that defines whether a court has the power or authority to hear
and/or decide a particular case (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.61). Jurisdiction is
important because it puts limits on the power of a court to hear certain cases. Courts
cannot possibly hear every case that is brought before them; therefore, they must use
the proper jurisdictionin order to prevent confusing and conflicting results. There are
two categories of jurisdiction: subject matter jurisdiction and personam jurisdiction.
Subject matter jurisdiction gives reference to the authority of a court to hear a
particular type of case whereas, personam jurisdiction gives reference to the courts
authority over an individual or corporation (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.62).
Federal courts hear cases from any state as well as some cases where there is one
party outside of the United States; however, they are only allowed to hear cases
where federal jurisdiction can be established. This basically means that the court must
have subject matter jurisdiction of the suit as well as personal jurisdictionover the
involved parties (personam jurisdiction). General jurisdiction may be present when a
court has jurisdiction over a defendant in that state regardless of the kind... Show

In order to promote energy supply and economic development, which is the core of
this paper, the author argued that the idea behind the project was not to tap the
energy from the sun to electrify these remote communities. Rather, it was geared
towards installing small solar panels that were not much bigger than an iPad to
power the basic appliances (light bulbs, cell phone, and other basic necessities that
can alter people s lives) in those homes (2015). This demonstrates the economic as
well as the energy efficiency side of this study, which I believe Hallett will accept.
The author also argues that going small better fits the budget of rural Tanzanians and
the money saved from buying kerosene and other oil to lighten their homes were
used for other things. This concept is known as pay as you go. This concept was far
cheaper and affordable than what the government of Tanzania and some big energy
companies were offering, the author claimed (2005). In the final analysis, some
energy experts raised economic concerns that solar installations in rural communities
were costly and that the power offered by grids is too limited to meet the growing
needs of African countries (Galliot, 2015). For example, a senior fellow (Mwangi

Republic of Vietnam. This had been a tremendously significant event in world history
perhaps the most important event since the 1917 October Revolution in Russia. It
marked the first occasion in human history in which a radical national movement
under Communist leadership had succeeded in overthrowing the influence of a
colonial state and establishing and maintaining its own new, independent form of
social and political system. However, Ho s type of communism was markedly
different than that of Marxist ideology that had been the metaphorical icon of the
October Revolution. alike to Jose Antonio s fascist movement, the hierarchical

Moreover, Tet is a chancefor Vietnamese families, relatives and friends to get

person who comes to their house on the first day of Tet is very important because
his or her destiny can determine the fortune of the family for the whole year.
Therefore, people never come to any house on the first day unless they are invited.
Householders usually invite people who have good virtue and success, such as their

In A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, Emily Grierson seems to be living with
her father in what people referred to as the old South. However, most of the story
takes place after the Civil War, but Miss Emilyis clearly living in the past. As critic
Frederick Thum pointed out, Many people are able to survive in the present, but give
little or no thought to the future, and these people usually live in the past. Such a
mind is the mind of Miss Emily Grierson... (1). Miss Emily s comprehension of death,
her relationship with the townspeople, and her reaction toward her taxes are clear
examples that she is living in the past.

younger generation wanted her to pay her taxes because there was nothing written

Miss Emily also shows how she is living in the past when her father dies. She told

After her father s death, she looked like a girl with a vague resemblance to those

the alarm to 5:00am. I rolled off the bed and felt an immediate blast of humidity.
Slowly, the outline of my apartment gained resolution. I could see a clear view of
the tropical trees and the worn down apartment building. The acrid smell of
construction and rubber was relentless. I was careful not to wake my grandparents
or my sister and suddenly, I remember why I had my phone woken me up. Crap.

Even in a globalized world of countries that are interdependent on one another, there
still is progress to be made. I could not help but smile.
Continuing my run, I reached the Ganges River, and surprisingly found my cousin,
Archit, there. He is studying to become a CA for Price Waterhouse Coopers India
office. We talk of life and politics, although with India s politics it seems the majority
of people want progress. Progress for small businesses and more support for the ideas
that they create from both the government and businesses.
I felt obligated to represent my country as best I could, remarking on how Canadian
businesses like Selinger, a construction development company, and Blackberry have
successfully entered the market, created jobs for many unemployed people, and
helped found hundreds of new ventures. It s not enough, according to Archit. It s
conversations like these that brought a new sense of urgency and opportunity to my
time in India.
Looking forward, I realize how useful The Schulich School of Business and its iBBA
program could be to me. The program would allow me to connect with more people
and companies on an international level, allowing me to effectively harness my
newly acquired linguistic skills to gain a global perspective, and help build
sustainable solutions using all my experiences as a guide. This would make me an
My Tribe Beliefs
My Tribe and Their Beliefs and Their Consents
It would be devastating if my tribe was to find out years later that they were involved
in a scientific study that they knew nothing about. For most tribal communities, it is
important to respect their culture and their beliefs. Scientists do not have the right to
offend a tribal community, even if it was unintentional and due to ignorance
regarding the taboo topics within the tribe from the researchers. For many reasons, it
is important to inform the tribe and the individuals who donate their DNA samples
exactly what their samples will be used for. Tribal communities are unlike many
modern communities. Tribal communities carry much pride in their history, their
culture, and their beliefs. Offending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What their samples were actually used for, well that was completely different.
Without their permission, the DNA samples were used to study topics that are
considered taboo within the Havasupai tribe such as mental illness, migration, and
inbreeding. There were many issues raised in the Havasupai case. To begin with,
informed consent is an issue because samples were used without complete consent.
Researchers only received consent for using the samples to study diabetes, or that is
what the tribe members were told. Another issue raised in this case was migration
studies, which is a topic that concerns may tribes because the scientific evidence
based on their genetic research may go against certain tribal beliefs. Each tribe has
their own beliefs based on their origin and migration studies may cause these tribes
trouble. Scientists may be messing around with tribal history in the name of
science. This would, without a doubt, raise ethical concerns. Stigmatism of the tribe
was another issue raised in this case. Measuring the interbreeding coefficient
causes harm and distress to the tribal community. During this study, researchers
gained illegal access to medical records. Researchers did not have permission to
access the medical records from the tribal officials or the clinical administrators.
This is an invasion of privacy. It is also important to note that even though
individuals within the study were not named, naming the tribe risked the
identification of these individuals. In a small community, it is not hard to figure out
who someone is based on genetic information that was released. The final issue that
was raised in the Havasupai case was how to control their samples. When a tribe
decides to enter a study, they must first decide if they ate going to enforce their
control over the samples and how they are used. If they decide to
Sasa Dance Essay
If I had to study, learn and preform one style of dance, I would choose Salsa
dancing. I find this style interesting because it looks very fun to watch while it
makes me want to start dancing even without knowing any salsa moves. Hearing
the bongos pounding with the maracas sending shockwaves through a person s
body is a sight to behold upon the dancing world. Being inexperienced is not an
issue at all because you re not judged by doing it incorrectly, but judged upon your
enthusiasm to the best performance given. There are many characteristics of salsa
but here are a few of them. It is a partner dancewhere the man leads and the woman
follows. The music has 4 beats per measure but the dancers only take steps on 3 of
the beats pausing for one
Leadership Development Report
Chosen Model
The purpose of this report is to review my leadership competencies through the
theories and models explored. A leadership development plan will be created to
assist myself; a young female adult who is entering the family based engineering
business, taking up the role of sales manager.
The Leadership Competency Model, developed by the Central Michigan University
(CMU Model), will be used as a guiding principal. The model is made up of the
aspects, namely, self management; leading others, task management, innovation and
social responsibility. It is chosen as it thoroughly describes the aspects a effective
leader should possess.

This is exceptionally important in a sales team as positive emotions can rub off as
well as negative emotions. It is vital for leaders to manage their emotions
appropriately so that positive group emotional contagion can occur. The inability of
the leader to control his negative emotions, may transfer on to his team members in
the group, thus influencing group dynamics, decreasing efficiency (Barsade 2002).
Negative emotions, such as pressure, must be dealt with effectively and optimism
must be remained even under adversities.
(
According to McKinsey (2008), positive emotions framing in the optimistic leader s
mind are able to provide them with confidence to manage challenges and prompt their
teams quickly to action. As one s mental toughness gives one the right mindset to
tackle the difficulties, the overall thinking patterns influences the response generated
(McEwen Kathryn 2011). It is of importance to cultivate personal resilience to
manage the unforeseen circumstances as a leader in the workplace and to remain
composed and positive even in dire situations (Weick Sutcliffe 2001).
In a sales team, emotions are key motivations (Pancero 2009). Being a participative
leader myself, my team would likely to be closely knit. In the event where negative
emotions of an individual or a team are not put under control, it may result emotional
contagion.
For example in a circumstance where in
Benefits Of A College Education
A college education is proven to increase an individual s earnings, however, women s
earnings are still not as much as men s, even when they have the same degree (Patten,
2015).
The county is seeing this gap start to close over time, however, research shows that
women are far more likely than men to leave their occupations, either temporarily or
even permanently, to take care of their children (Patten, 2015).
Roughly four in ten mothers say they have taken a significant amount of time off
from work (39%) or reduced their work hours (42%) to care for a child or other
family member. Roughly a quarter (27%) say they have quit work altogether to take
care of these familial responsibilities...(Patten, 2015 [see figure 3]).
This research also shows that when women take these leaves of absences, it will
impact their career by decreasing their earnings in the long run (Patten, 2015). This is
seen as an indirect form of discrimination in the workplace because even though an
employer is not neglecting a woman for simply being a woman, they still are the
ones who are expected to leave their occupation in order to care for their family and
that creates much more significant long term impacts on their careers than on a man
s career. This is quite unfortunate because as stated earlier, women are becoming a
much larger force in high paying jobs that are typically overrun and controlled by
men, for instance, professional and managerial positions. However, research still
shows that women
How People Respond To Conflicts
Conflict and how people respond to it are what make us human. Throughout history
we see many ways different individuals reacted to conflict. Strength is one of the best
ways to respond to conflict.
Malala was a young girl that fought for the education of young women in third world
countries. Malala used strength and bravery to rebel against the Talibans and fight for
an education. Even after being shot, the young woman still fought for the knowledge
and education for all girls. According to the book I Am Malala, after she recovered
from being shot, she went back to advocating for women s rights to an education.
This shows how she remained strong after serious conflict.
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who was oppressed by the Nazis along

When entering a guest country, customs are not exactly, or nowhere near, the same
as what they are back home. However, there are always general guidelines to aid
your time in your welcoming country. For example, in Japan avoiding confrontation
is essential. The Japanese will often withhold from expressing their true feelings in
order to maintain harmony. Secondly, relationships are vital, although they may take

Hierarchy is key age equals rank, as Japan is a vertical society. If by any means an
individual disagrees with someone above them in the corporate ladder, this should
be discussed in private to avoid loss of face. However, disagreements are not the
only way of losing face ; making errors and having to admit to them are equally
humiliating. The risk of upsetting another party must be avoided by abstaining from
using the word no or implying displeasure. Conflict management in Japan is both
institutionalised and behavioural, involving avoidance, compromising, obliging,
integrating, and group dominance. The most used conflict management technique is
avoidance. This is achieved through triad management, created by three individuals
to help manage a situation indirectly. The third party usually insists for both parties
to abandon the conflict in order to save face 2. Obliging, also known as conflict
acceptance, is influenced by Buddhist beliefs. Domination, on the other hand, is
contrary to the nature of the Japanese 3 Through time, the Japanese have developed
a very conservative attitude towards corporate failure. A company that Japanese
men work for can affect their lives, i.e. when considering a possible mate, housing

Tension Between Dreams And Realities In The Great Gatsby
While reading The Great Gatsby, I have noticed a constant shift between dreams and
realities. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck popped into my head when I noticed
this motif. Lennie Small continually dreams about living on a farm with George,
rabbits, and other animals. Although, the reality is that he is working at a factory
with little pay and respect. Everyone in The Great Gatsbyhas a dream. Nick s dream
is to live in a judge free and accepting society. Gatsby s dream is to meet Daisy and
spark up what they used to have. Daisy accepts her reality; she is comfortable with
her life because she is wealthy since she married Tom. She accepts it, but that does
not mean she is content with her surroundings. Daisy is ann accpetable wife, but
Tom dreams of a better woman, he seeks for something different; hence why he has
an affair with Myrtle Wilson. He was born into a lavish life; hence, financially he is
comfortable. Myrtle s dream is to be with a further successful and wealthy man. The
fantasy life of Wilson consists of moving to a different location with Myrtle and

Even though Daisy obviously admires Gatsby, she would never leave Tom because
he provides her a safe lifestyle and she would also be frightened to leave him
because he is strong and has the capability of abusing her or going even further than

even if they both stayed alive, Myrtle is always searching for something better,
therefore she might have moved on from Wilson, crushing his
Cough Case Study Essay

Cough
CASE ONE: Mrs. L. Windermere is a 73 year old woman under your care for more
than a decade. She has no chronic medical conditions and comes in once a year in
the spring just to catch up. In this visit her only complaint is a cough. It started a
month or two ago following a cold. She hadn t been very ill just some congestion and
rhinorrhea. After those symptoms mostly resolved, she developed this cough. She
asks, Is there something you can give me for this cough?
1. How is cough categorized? Is this a chronic cough?

can be divided into three categories: acute, lasting 3 ... Show more content on

She doesn t recall any sick contacts, but her husband is a minister, and she mingles
with members of his congregation three to four days a week. On physical exam her
oral pharynx is slightly erythematous but there is no cobblestoning and her nasal
turbinates are neither pale nor inflamed. She has no lymphadenopathy, and her lungs
sound clear without any wheezing or crackles.
3. Do you want an X ray? How are you going to treat this cough?
Yes I would order a chest x ray due to the duration of her cough, the fact that it is
post infectious, her age, and to evaluate for pneumonia and masses. Due to the
duration of the cough and the fact that her cough is becoming productive with
yellow sputum, I would tell the patient she probably started out with a viral
bronchitis that now could be transitioning into a bacterial bronchitis and/or
Pertussis and I would prescribe an antibiotic that will cover both: Azithromycin
500mg PO day 1, then 250mg PO Daily X 4 days. I would instruct her to buy over
the counter mucinex take as directed on box, and drink plenty of fluids. If the cough
does not improve in 3 weeks have her follow up.
CASE ONE CONTINUED: She returns in three weeks. Her chest X ray was normal.
Her symptoms are unchanged.
4. Now what? What is Upper Airway Cough Syndrome?
Now further evaluation is needed and a change in treatment. According to Tofts,
P.H., Oliveira, E., and Ferrer, G. (2011), UACS (formerly known as postnasal drip) is

A total of 74 members of Order of the Solar Temple died from various mass murder
suicides between 1994 and 1997 in Switzerland, Canada and France. The first
known instance was the murder of Tony Dutroit and his wife and son. Dutroit was a

deception and left. Soon after, he, his wife Nicky and son Emmanuel were the
victims of a grisly murder in Morin Heights, QuГ©bec, committed by members of the

and prominent authority figures within the cult, as they were the sources of the
teachings the entire cult was centred around; while in the presence of such
authoritative figures, followers would have been under great pressure to obey
them. Jouret in particular had a strong air of credibility to his teachings, due to his
doctor s degree and his charismatic personality, which would have made it very easy
to follow orders from him. The leaders managed to strip followers of all their
money and force them to adhere to strict rules, and there is evidence of them
ordering followers to stockpile weapons or even kill on their behalf. Another
example of the cult s obedience was Jouret s obsession with sex, which caused his
tendency to have intercourse with one of the female members before a ritual, saying
that he needed it to have the spiritual strength required for the ceremony the women
involved always agreed without complaint to this arrangement. (Bizarrepedia, 2015)

  • 2. Gun Control Laws Should Not The Safety Of The Citizens America is the number one country for number of gun related deaths ratio each year. In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15 51:48). Due to the United States having the greatest number of gunrelated deaths, it is almost essential to implement gun control laws that restrict people from purchasing and owning dangerous firearms. The laws that are created to control the guns should ultimately keep the safety of the citizens first. Of course, there is no easy way or solution to please both sides of the argument, but there should be a balance between both sides. In 2008 a survey was conducted stating: Adult poll respondents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1900s America like other counties during that time considered guns a tool used to survive and protect. As Americans civilized the wilderness, they would eventually be able to rely not just on their own skills at individual self defense for protection, but on laws and civil authorities and the other institutions of government they were building ( Whitney, Pg. 103). In the early 1900s The United Statesdid not have the modern civil authorities that are used today. Citizens relied on firearms to protect not only themselves but their family, and property because law enforcement was basic and simple. What was deemed acceptable then is not now in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal in the 1900s. Firearms of military grade that have the ability to shoot 700 950 rounds/min, like the M16, did not exist. Firearms during that time did not come close the capability of modern weapons that are available today and that is one of the reasons why gun control was not a pressing issue. The need for Gun control became necessary throughout history as technology advanced and different types of firearms emerged that were more powerful and deadly. Also the issues of people becoming more interested in guns not only for civic duty but for entertainment/ recreational use lead to
  • 3. Analysis Of The Book The Fugitive Essay The Fugitive One summer night Sara, Chad, Austin, Tristan, Autumn, Myles, Shelby, and I got together to find a game to play. We met in Lincoln at South Pointe at Cold stone creamery. We headed to the mini golf course but when we arrived the place was packed. So we stood in the parking lot trying to figure out ideas. We were getting nowhere when Tristan says well we can play fugitive. None of us had ever played it or even heard of such a game. He explained it was a game where we have two people in a car trying to find the fugitives the fugitives start at one end of the town and the cops would start at the other. There would be a designated place where if you made it without being captured you won the game. So we decided Lincoln was too big to play it so we headed to our hometown of Seward. We arrived at the ballfields and broke into four couples. Sara and Austin were the cops and the rest of us were fugitives. They got in the burgandy van and drove to the other side of town. Right when they were out of sight Chad and I sprinted as fast as we could to get a head start over competition. I only made it about half a mile before I was keeled over out of breath but Chad, who is in cross country, kept running and left me behind. Soon I was alone walking the streetlight lit sidewalk trying to find my way to town square. As a girl walking alone always freaks me out especially at night so I am extra aware of my surroundings. There are crickets chirping, wind is russeling the

Even though this seems like a career path slightly different from what my current major of sports managementand recreation, there are a plethora of ways in which they are interconnected. During our time in class I have discovered that, the most jobs related to my field are not exactly in the sports management side, but in the parks and recreation side of the major. Consumers now days are more willing to spend money on recreation than ever before. Therefore, leading to the job market of parks and recreation to be ever increasing in both the public and private sector. To accomplish my goals in the future I must first be able to get my foot in the door, Internships with Miami Dade County assistant director s office or the operations office seem to be the best way to get into a job with the county government. Nevertheless, there are skills that I must be proficient before attempting to continue
  • 5. Childhood To Adulthood Research Paper An accomplishment that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood was acquiring my first, professional job. I did not want to apply for a common job that everyone had. I wanted to be different from my peers. I also wanted to do something that correlates to my career goal of becoming an emergency room doctor, or a pediatrician. I immediately thought of becoming a lifeguard at Great Wolf Lodge. This job could help me get into the field of healthcare and medicine, and help prepare me for my future career. Once I submitted my application for a lifeguard position to Great Wolf, I felt responsible and empowered for making my own decisions. This was the first step of my transition from childhood to adulthood. A week after I submitted my application, I got an email from one of the aquatic managers, asking if I could come in for an interview the following week. On the day of the interview after two hours of questions, I received the news that I got hired. At this point, I was so proud of myself. I had my doubts and I expected the worse, but I did not let my fear get the best of me. I have just passed the second step of my transition from childhood to adulthood, and I passed the third step when I finished guard class and started working. The first day on the job, I... Educators are set in place to guide us through a thorough understanding of a subject, and give us enough information to suffice without their immediate guidance. In piano class, our Professors have been taught to use specific methods on breaking down the skills to becoming a pianist. From scales to score reading, all of the lessons are used to gain a sustainable amount of self knowledge to plunk out notes for our future choirs or assist our own rehearsals in a practice room. Guido of Arezzo, musical therapist, pedagogue and author of Micrologus suggested a lack of common knowledge is one of the main causes for an individual to not put forth the appropriate efforts to achieve a perfect understanding of the task. Guido Arentinus began... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Guido created a learning tool for the singers to use as a visual reference during their practice times known as the Guidonian Hand. The letter name of the note and syllable were placed on a joint of the singers hand to help with the memory process of a chant, and the visualization of the interval at which the notes were sequenced. Another invention Guido took part of was the beginning to musical notation. He knew he needed a uniform visual reference, that once you have gained the proper knowledge of interpretation, could be used in every church under the rule. Notation prior to Guido s invention was not beneficial to a singer who has not yet heard the chant or melody before. His musical notation included colors, lines, and clefs that specified the size of the intervals and distinct pitch. As a future educator of music, I find myself very inspired by Guido s passion to further his pupils musical education, even if their destinies did not foresee them becoming musicians. Although I may have more musical knowledge than the singers in 1025, I understood his concepts clearly and was able to relate them to modern day methods we use today. When I was first learning how to read music, we were taught solfege to learn the different placements of intervals and pitches, just as singers in the Medieval era did with Guido s solmization syllables. They both play the role of the bad guy, or the antagonist in the stories by Flannery O Connor. They also leave the two main woman, the Grandma and Hulga dazed and scared. The Grandmother s last words and actions were, Why you re one of my babies. You re one of my own children! She reached out and touched him on the shoulder. The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and shot her three times through the chest. This shows he s incapable of feeling or recieving contact or love from another human. When she turned her churning face toward the opening, she saw his blue figure struggling successfully over the green speckled lake. Even though they both play the antagonist, the story ends differently for both women. The Grandmother was shot and killed, while the Manley Pointer left Hulga alive, only leaving with her wooden leg. Another comparison between the two is that they both have done this before. This wasn t the Misfits first kill, and this wasn t Manley Pointer s first time harassing a woman and taking a token. Pointer says, I ve gotten a lot of interesting things, he said. One time I got a woman s glass eye this way. And you needn t to think you‖ll catch me because Pointer ain t really my name. The similarities and differences of the movie BTS and MU, reveal stereotypical incoming attitudes, the reasons for attendance, and the lessons learned of closely connected, college freshman. Living on the previous successes of his family, particularly his father, Sully felt he had a lot to prove to his peers and professors. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions assume that conflict arose from an authoritarian government and that a democratic one would not cause nationwide tragedies like that of the Canadian Residential Schools. • 32. Subject Matter Jurisdiction Jurisdiction is a term that defines whether a court has the power or authority to hear and/or decide a particular case (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.61). Jurisdiction is important because it puts limits on the power of a court to hear certain cases. Courts cannot possibly hear every case that is brought before them; therefore, they must use the proper jurisdictionin order to prevent confusing and conflicting results. There are two categories of jurisdiction: subject matter jurisdiction and personam jurisdiction. Subject matter jurisdiction gives reference to the authority of a court to hear a particular type of case whereas, personam jurisdiction gives reference to the courts authority over an individual or corporation (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.62). Federal courts hear cases from any state as well as some cases where there is one party outside of the United States; however, they are only allowed to hear cases where federal jurisdiction can be established. This basically means that the court must have subject matter jurisdiction of the suit as well as personal jurisdictionover the involved parties (personam jurisdiction). In order to promote energy supply and economic development, which is the core of this paper, the author argued that the idea behind the project was not to tap the energy from the sun to electrify these remote communities. Rather, it was geared towards installing small solar panels that were not much bigger than an iPad to power the basic appliances (light bulbs, cell phone, and other basic necessities that can alter people s lives) in those homes (2015). This demonstrates the economic as well as the energy efficiency side of this study, which I believe Hallett will accept. The author also argues that going small better fits the budget of rural Tanzanians and the money saved from buying kerosene and other oil to lighten their homes were used for other things. This concept is known as pay as you go. This concept was far cheaper and affordable than what the government of Tanzania and some big energy companies were offering, the author claimed (2005). In the final analysis, some energy experts raised economic concerns that solar installations in rural communities were costly and that the power offered by grids is too limited to meet the growing needs of African countries (Galliot, 2015). What their samples were actually used for, well that was completely different. Without their permission, the DNA samples were used to study topics that are considered taboo within the Havasupai tribe such as mental illness, migration, and inbreeding. There were many issues raised in the Havasupai case. To begin with, informed consent is an issue because samples were used without complete consent. Researchers only received consent for using the samples to study diabetes, or that is what the tribe members were told. Another issue raised in this case was migration studies, which is a topic that concerns may tribes because the scientific evidence based on their genetic research may go against certain tribal beliefs. Each tribe has their own beliefs based on their origin and migration studies may cause these tribes trouble. Scientists may be messing around with tribal history in the name of science. This would, without a doubt, raise ethical concerns. Stigmatism of the tribe was another issue raised in this case. Measuring the interbreeding coefficient causes harm and distress to the tribal community. During this study, researchers gained illegal access to medical records. Researchers did not have permission to access the medical records from the tribal officials or the clinical administrators. This is an invasion of privacy. It is also important to note that even though individuals within the study were not named, naming the tribe risked the identification of these individuals. In a small community, it is not hard to figure out who someone is based on genetic information that was released. The final issue that was raised in the Havasupai case was how to control their samples. When a tribe decides to enter a study, they must first decide if they ate going to enforce their control over the samples and how they are used. If they decide to

It is vital for leaders to manage their emotions appropriately so that positive group emotional contagion can occur. The inability of the leader to control his negative emotions, may transfer on to his team members in the group, thus influencing group dynamics, decreasing efficiency (Barsade 2002). Negative emotions, such as pressure, must be dealt with effectively and optimism must be remained even under adversities. ( According to McKinsey (2008), positive emotions framing in the optimistic leader s mind are able to provide them with confidence to manage challenges and prompt their teams quickly to action. Benefits Of A College Education A college education is proven to increase an individual s earnings, however, women s earnings are still not as much as men s, even when they have the same degree (Patten, 2015). The county is seeing this gap start to close over time, however, research shows that women are far more likely than men to leave their occupations, either temporarily or even permanently, to take care of their children (Patten, 2015). Roughly four in ten mothers say they have taken a significant amount of time off from work (39%) or reduced their work hours (42%) to care for a child or other family member. Roughly a quarter (27%) say they have quit work altogether to take care of these familial responsibilities...(Patten, 2015 [see figure 3]). This research also shows that when women take these leaves of absences, it will impact their career by decreasing their earnings in the long run (Patten, 2015). This is seen as an indirect form of discrimination in the workplace because even though an employer is not neglecting a woman for simply being a woman, they still are the ones who are expected to leave their occupation in order to care for their family and that creates much more significant long term impacts on their careers than on a man s career. This is quite unfortunate because as stated earlier, women are becoming a much larger force in high paying jobs that are typically overrun and controlled by men, for instance, professional and managerial positions. Yes I would order a chest x ray due to the duration of her cough, the fact that it is post infectious, her age, and to evaluate for pneumonia and masses. Due to the duration of the cough and the fact that her cough is becoming productive with yellow sputum, I would tell the patient she probably started out with a viral bronchitis that now could be transitioning into a bacterial bronchitis and/or Pertussis and I would prescribe an antibiotic that will cover both: Azithromycin 500mg PO day 1, then 250mg PO Daily X 4 days. I would instruct her to buy over the counter mucinex take as directed on box, and drink plenty of fluids. If the cough does not improve in 3 weeks have her follow up. CASE ONE CONTINUED: She returns in three weeks. Her chest X ray was normal. Her symptoms are unchanged. 4. Now what? What is Upper Airway Cough Syndrome? In OST, Di Mambro and Jouret were generally very forceful and powerful leaders and prominent authority figures within the cult, as they were the sources of the teachings the entire cult was centred around; while in the presence of such authoritative figures, followers would have been under great pressure to obey them. Jouret in particular had a strong air of credibility to his teachings, due to his doctor s degree and his charismatic personality, which would have made it very easy to follow orders from him.
