How To Write A Essay For High School
Writing an essay on the topic "How To Write An Essay for High School" might seem paradoxical
at first glance. On one hand, the subject appears straightforward—after all, it's about
elucidating the process of essay composition, a skill expected of high school students. However,
delving into the intricacies of this seemingly simple task reveals the layers of complexity that can
make the endeavor challenging.
To begin with, one must consider the diverse audience—high school students have varying
levels of writing experience, comprehension, and interest. Crafting an essay that strikes a balance
between being accessible to novices while offering valuable insights to those more well-versed in
writing is a delicate task. The challenge lies in providing information that is neither too
elementary nor too advanced.
Furthermore, addressing the dynamic nature of the educational landscape adds another layer of
difficulty. High school essay writing conventions may vary based on the curriculum, regional
standards, or even individual teacher preferences. Navigating these differences and presenting a
universally applicable guide becomes a demanding feat.
The essay must also grapple with the evolving nature of technology and its impact on writing
methodologies. As students increasingly engage with digital platforms, incorporating insights on
how to leverage technology without sacrificing traditional writing skills becomes paramount.
Striking the right balance between technological integration and maintaining the essence of
effective essay writing poses an additional challenge.
In essence, crafting an essay on "How To Write An Essay for High School" involves a careful
dance between simplicity and depth, catering to a diverse audience, adapting to educational
nuances, and addressing the influence of technology. Despite the initial appearance of the topic
as straightforward, the endeavor demands a nuanced and thoughtful approach.

Essay Comparing Two Open Universities
Comparing two Open Universities within the Common Wealth:
Athabasca University and the Allama Iqbal Open University at Islamabad
When the Open University of the United Kingdom (OU UK) opened its doors in
1969 it was considered a revolution in higher education by many pedagogues. In the
forty years that followed 80 similar higher open education institutes were
established (Peters, O. 2010, p57 81). The common denominator of this new
generation of distance universities is that they are open. During the OU UK
inauguration Lord Crowther stated: We are open as to people ; as to places ; as to
methods ; and finally to ideas (cf. Tunstall 1974, in Peters, O. 2010, p 62). What this
openness entails, depends largely on the social, economic, and political circumstances
in the country in which an open university is founded. Two former British colonies
and members of the Common Wealth, Canada and Pakistan, were among the ... Show

It was modeled after the Santa Cruz campus of the University of California. It aimed
to have a small student population and focused on liberal arts (Byrne 1989). When
it was founded, there were 3 more public universities in Alberta. There seemed to
be room for a fourth university as the discovery of oil fields had resulted in a
significant growth of both economy and population. Against expectations enrollment
remained low and the government of Alberta decided to reform the UA into an
online university as a pilot project (Byrne 1989). The pilot was started in 1972 and
would run up to five years. It would be considered successful if enrolments would
substantially increase or if it would attract students that otherwise would not have
enrolled themselves in a university (Byrne, 1989). It was so successful that UA
outgrew its first campus and was moved from Edmonton to Alberta in 1984
The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System
For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating
system, and touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to
improve on the process. I work in the department of corrections and the evaluation
system currently implemented is the managing, accountability, and performance
(MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to subjective
evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and
for the most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to
properly evaluate each employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of
their subordinates exactly the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other
shows little to no interest. Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by
stating that the evaluations do not have any effect on your employment, since pay
raises are not based from the appraisal. As you can imagine this method does little
to raise the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in my opinion needs to be
revamped. I would prefer an evaluation based more on objective performance and
behavioral observations. An objective performance rating is based on the measuring
of actual results from employees. Although the Department of Corrections does not
produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are responsible for
maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the
inmates. These

Culture bound syndromes as therefore comprised as several different illnesses and
afflictions. LaVeist and Thomas (2005) thoroughly expresses the dynamic nature of
culture bound syndromes when they state: The symptoms of mental disorders are
found in all nations and in all cultures; there are recognizable symptoms that are
common worldwide. Mental health researchers have not yet been able to determine
whether culture bound syndromes are indicative of one or more possibilities that
include distinct disorders that exist only in specific cultures, and reflect different
ways in which individuals from different cultures express mental illness, as well as
reflecting different ways in which the social and cultural environment interact with
genes to produce disorders, or any combination of these. (pp. 101) With the
following information in mind, it should be noted that not all disorders are
considered pathological; some behaviors are seen as ways of expressing and
communicating distress to members of a certain culture and are seen as culturally
accepted responses (APA, 1994). In fact, cultures experience, express, and cope with
feelings of distress in various ways that may counter what Western societies see as
common. Furthermore, at times these cultural differences are

I am inquiring about any possible positions you may have available at Camp Red

a year, because I wanted to get a head start while I was still in college to see the
requirements. Most job postings appeared to require multiple years of experience
within the respective field. As a recent graduate from the University of Delaware
this spring, I currently do not have the necessary years of experience. However, I
am committed to this company for all it has given to me, and was curious if there
were any other possible employment possibilities? I noticed on the webpage for
job listings it mentions there are internships and temp positions offered as well. I
am signed up for job alerts from Red Frog, but have not seen a listing for either of
those opportunities. Is there a way I may apply for one of those positions, or are
there any openings for fulltime work without the experience requirement? I am

Tax Filing Status From the two filing statuses that the couple can use, the most
advantageous for them would be married filing jointly and not married filing

laws. The reason that using the married filing jointly status is more advantageous
for the couple is that taxes will be lower than if they filed as married filing
separately. Filing jointly provides more tax benefits and the tax rate is generally
lower. They will qualify for five exemptions, one for each of the dependent children,

Partnerships use form 1065 to report income and losses, but taxes are not collected
or paid from it, instead, the partners pay the taxes on their own personal tax returns.
Each partner is allocated their share of the income/loss according to the
partnership agreement. This is done through a schedule K 1. In this case, Spouse
A will report $142,000 as income on the couple s 1040. The couple will not be

Diversity Is The Equal Pay Act Of 1963 Essay
Diversity in Human resources Let s Completely Stop Discrimination against
women in the Workplace now that we have become more educated on how to
promote gender equality Writing in 1991 the historian Joan Hoff observed that the
legal status of women in the United States changed more rapidly in the last twenty
five years than in the previous two hundred. These legal changes were among
several sources for women s advancement in business after 1963. Some legal
change came from government actions. State laws and judicial decisions
increasingly supported the notion that women were entitled to the same rights and
opportunities as men. This legal change was the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Most
people think that gender equality is now common place in Western societies, but
research shows that gender equality, which gained momentum in the 1970s, has
since stalled, particularly when we look at class issues. Some issues have been hit
head on, issues relating to sexist job ads and some sexist behavior at work...but we
still have a long way to go. The wage gap between men and women is especially
concerning. American women who work full time, year round, are paid only 79 cents
for every dollar paid. It s long past time to close the gap. The wage gap is a harsh
reality for women, regardless of education and work experience and it only gets
worse as women s careers progress. The wage gap typically translates into more than
$10,000 per year in lost earnings for women. Wage differences
The Prince And Discourse On Livy
In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously
discusses the importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political
order. Machiavelli regards religion as a political tool used by political elites for
political purposes. He argues that the appearance of religionis good while the practice
of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that supports
Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince
should cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The
prince, he writes, should appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all
religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to have than this last quality (The
Prince, 70). Here, Machiavelli argues, in order for the prince to maintain his state, it
is necessary for the prince to go to the source of morality and by this he means
religion. Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for
maintaining a political authority.
Furthermore, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the religion as a political mean
to control and govern the masses. In the Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli uses the
example of how Numa the founder of Roman religion, manipulates the Roman
people by using religion to maintain order and peace. Machiavelli praises the
wisdom of Numa for inventing a religion to control a very ferocious Romans. In
praising Numa, Machiavelli writes: As he found a very

A Christmas Carol Literary Analysis A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is about
misanthropist Ebenezer Scrooge who is an ignorant, greedy rich person. However
after getting visits from the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future he changes
into a better person which shows how through changing how someone acts and their
values their future can have a different outcome.
For instance, in the beginning of the story Scrooge values are that the rich are
better than the poor while the poor are less deserving and beneath the poor. For
example on page 25 when asked to donate money to the poor his reply is that I can t
afford to make idle people merry. This shows that Scrooge dose not believe that the

Another example is on page 160 is when Scrooge says that he will live in the Past,
the Present and the future and that all three spirits shall live within him Scrooge is
recognizing his mistakes in the past and is say that he will learn from them. Also
Scrooge says Heaven, and the Christmas Time be praised for this! I say it on my
knees, old Jacob; on my knees! (Dickens 160) Which could be taken as that
Scrooge now believes in God or that his faith has been renewed. Also in the book
Scrooge is said to became a good friend, master and a good mas as the old city
knew, and while some laughed at him he payed no heed for he thought that as they
were laughing it all was fine. This show that Scrooge has changed and become a
better person.
In conclusion when you change how you act and what your values are your entire
life changes typically for the better. Scrooge was at first ignorant and greedy, but
through the help of the spirits Scrooge changes into a better person who is capable of
caring for others. This shows that anyone can change their

To let the liver function properly it is important to detect cirrhosis in early stage.
Now a days several noninvasive imaging techniques have been developed recently
for detection of liver cirrhosis such as CT, USG, MRI. In this paper we have used CT
scan images of liver cirrhosis and applied some statistical operations on those CT
images such as mean, median, standard deviation and mode.
II. Methodology:CT scans are challenging because of the different image
characteristics that must be considered. Here we will be considering the statistical
features of a CT scan of liver which is having liver cirrhosis as a disease. The
methodology followed is given below:

(1).Image Acquisition : To get an image of which you want to extract some features.
(2).Image Preprocessing : It is common practice to perform preprocessing on
acquired CT scan images before extracting the features of images. Here we have
applied the statistical operation on the preprocessed images After acquiring the image
various preprocessing methods can be apply. The aim of this step is to improve the
quality of the image that suppress unwanted distortion and enhance the image
features which is important for further processing. Such as increase or decrease
brightness, shape, contrast, remove the noise from the image.

Discuss The Difference Between New England And The...
After waiting over 100 years before England joined the race for colonization, in 1607
England has finally established a permanent colony in Jamestown. Years later, in
1620, supposedly trying to land in Virginia, the Puritans accidentally landed in
Plymouth Massachusetts. Therefore, while New England and the Chesapeake region
were both settled and ruled by the English, by the 1700s they had evolved into two
very separate distinct societies due to the differences in colonization, settlers, and
economic activities in each region.
The difference in colonization led to distinct societies between New England and the
Chesapeake regions. In 1607, after Sir Walter Raleigh s colony of Roanoke was
unsuccessful, Jamestown was successfully colonized and was due to an economic
purpose. As stated by John Smith, Dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold
(Doc 5). John Smith clearly shows how the colonists only cared about riches. They
didn t care about establishing a colony as they were occupied and focused on the
path to riches. More than half of us died (Doc 5). Due to this greed of riches and
lack of control in the colony, many settlers as a consequence died. However, due to
John Smith and his control over the colony, led Jamestown to not fail like the colony
of Roanoke. Now while colonists focused on the economic gain they would receive
from Jamestown, the Puritans focused on the religious freedom they would finally
acquire. Now the Puritans wanted to separate from the Church of
The Stock Market
In 2001, it struck everybody as odd when a blue chip stock went bankrupt less than
a year after it paid its top 5 executives a total of $282.7 million. The stock market is
notorious for being seductively tricky; being the sole contributor to the making and
breaking of many men. However, this time it was clear that this wasn t an ordinary
unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former American energy company, had to
have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the largest chapter 11
bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that investors
were blindsided by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stockfraud the
market had ever seen. While it may be an enigma to many, the stock marketdoes have
some simple ground rules that hold true almost all the time, no matter what stock
one plans on investing in. The backbone of the stock market is generally coined
buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet, but it encompasses all that is
required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all somebody has to
do is buy shares of a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell those
shares when the price goes up. Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is
essentially all one has to do to make a profit; rinse and repeat. This same rule works
in reverse if someone is trying to avoid losing money on an investment. If shares of
an overvalued stock are owned and the price is expected to decline, one would
The Battle Between Grendel And Beowulf
Carl Van Clausewitz once said, Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a
warrior. In a culture where being a warrior is a very integral part of everyday lives,
having courage is a key component of social survival. To have courage means to be
able to defend a kingdom by every means possible. It means protecting and
ascertaining the wellbeing of the people within one s own kingdom. And above all,
courage means remaining loyal to one s king, regardless of the circumstance. This is
the warriorculture that Beowulfin Beowulf was a part of successfully as a thane, and
the same warrior culture that leads the narrator in The Wanderer to lament past
memories. In Beowulf, the fight between Grendeland Beowulf was certainly a nail
biter. In this fight, however, Beowulf shows his courage by doing his absolute best
at defending the kingdom by taking on this gruesome monster. Grendel was
wreaking havoc on the kingdom to no end. He was killing many and terrorizing the
citizens greatly. When Beowulf heard of this, as a courageous thane, he stepped in
to try to stop this and protect the people. Hygelac s kinsman kept [Grendel]
helplessly locked in a handgrip. As long as either lived, he was hateful to the other.
The monster s whole body was in pain; a tremendous wound appeared on his
shoulder. Sinews split and the bone lappings burst. Beowulf was granted the glory of
winning; Grendel was driven under the fen banks, fatally hurt, to his desolate lair

Complications In The Homeric Hymn To Apollo And
Aphrodite
Both homeric hymns to Apollo and Aphrodite feature classic mythology that explains
various situations between the god and goddess and the mortals. In particular how
each god and goddess eludes mortals into behavior that both favors each party and a
has negative consequences. Apollo and Aphrodite have similarities and differences in
which they manipulate the humans in the stories that lead to very different
outcomes. A similarity between the manipulation on apollos and aphrodite s part is
that they each have a clear motive before there actions begin and some differences are
that they have very different intentions and methods of the manipulation.
A Similarity of both Apollo and Aphrodite manipulation is the revelations of the
motives are revealed before their actions take place. In the first Homeric Hymn to
Aphrodite, the story describes the beautiful, virgin goddess who falls in love with the
mortal, Anchises. Aphrodite eludes the most powerful Greek god Zeusand in
retaliation, Zeus forces aphrodite to have sex with a mortal. Aphrodite intentions
are made clear before any actions take place and is described, And when she saw
him, Aphrodite, lover of laughter, she loved him, and a terrifying desire seized her
heart (Aphrodite 87 88). Comparing this hymn to the second Homeric Hymn to
apollo, the story has similarities. For example, Apollo also reveals his intentions
before manipulating the cretan Sailors, Apollo thought over in his heart who the
priests should be that he would bring in to serve him in rocky Pytho. And while he
was thinking about it, he spotted a fast ship on the wine sea, (Pythian 173). He
describes the ship to be the one carrying the sailors and how he decided to make them
his priests for his temple in Pytho. This is just one example of how Apollo and
Aphrodite manage the situation between them and the mortals.
In contrast, both Apollo and Aphrodite approach their situation differently. Aphrodite
uses her and Anchises emotions to gain his trust. She eludes him to believe what she
is saying is true and that she is not a goddess but a mortal princess. She lies to him
because she realizes the reservations he has about having relationships with
Immortals. Her long explanation of reasons
To survive in the wild, plants must form defenses to...
To survive in the wild, plants must form defenses to protect themselves from
herbivory. The main physical defenses are thorns, used to harm the herbivore, or
predator. This harm to the animal triggers a negative response, therefore causing the
animal to avoid that plant in the future. Plants commonly eaten sometimes form a
sour or bitter taste or odor to deter herbivores. This mechanism causes herbivores to
stay away from such plants and avoid eating them. In addition, poison serves as an
effective deterrent, causing animals to stay away due to its effects. These poisons
may cause vomiting or extreme illness, and in some cases, death, which warns
herbivores to avoid such plants through experience or from warnings by other
animals. A final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a predator of the king snakes accidentally goes in for a bite of the coral snake,
they will be surprised to find that they have attacked a venomous snake instead. In
order to catch and utilize food, both herbivores and predators have made
evolutionary advancements to increase their success and survival. Most of these
advancements were physical, as the giraffe displays. In order to reach leaves, the
giraffe advanced its neck size, attaining more food. Like the giraffe, other animals
undergo physical changes such as spiders, adapting their webs and size to better trap
insects. Through the advancement of fibers in their webs and strengthening them,
spiders adapted to their environment and can catch the insects most common in their
ecosystem. Some animals in remote regions with limited food supply have adapted
to intake large amounts of food at once and utilize it for a longer period of time than
a typical animal would. Camels do so with water, making them able to travel across
the desert for long amounts of time with limited water supply.
Plants that serve as predators also adapt, a common example being the carnivorous
plants. A carnivorous plant, such as the Venus fly Trap, can utilize both small insects
and typical plant nutrients to nourish themselves. This proves to be an advantage for
them because insects are frequent in their areas, while soil nutrients can dwindle
more. Also, certain plants advance themselves through

The Use of Distortion as a Literary Device in George...
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an excellent example of distortion as a literary
device. The story is set up as a fable using a third person objective viewpoint and
personification of animals to represent historical figures and stereotypes. Distortion
can also be found in much of the symbolism throughout the novel. Similar to a
fable, Animal Farm makes use of personification. In the story, farm animals are used
to represent different classes of people, from the average working man to
government officials and police or military personnel. This element of the novel goes
deeper, when the pigs on the farm begin to resemble historical figures such as Joseph
Stalin and Leon Trotsky, of Russia. Through distortion of character, Orwell brings...

This brings the reader to the level of the working class animals and instills a sense
of uncertainty and disillusionment that is felt by most of the characters in the
story. In the beginning, the animals are excited by Major s talk of rebellion against
Mr. Jones and through Orwell s objective point of view, the same feeling of
insurrection is passed on to the audience. As the pigs weave an intricate web of lies
and scandal, the reader gets the sense that not all is well in the same way the animals
do. The difference between the animals and ourselves lies in intelligence. The author
deliberately makes the characters dumber than the average person, allowing us to see
through the deception of the pigs, without the use of a third person omniscient
viewpoint. Symbolically, Animal Farm itself is supposed to represent Russia and the
Soviet Union under Communist control. The farm in today s world, being a small,
self sustaining entity may relate to current conditions in North Korea. It seems that
Kim Jong il, like the pigs, is much more equal than his subjects. Kim and Napoleon
seem to share the paranoia of being attacked by more powerful rivals, and both it
seems, have a desire to keep their respective nations in the dark. Perhaps less
specifically, the farm could represent human society as a whole. As mentioned earlier,
the characters display an entire spectrum of human classes and stereotypical
personalities.

Fifty Shades Freed Analysis
One of the things that viewers think the movie lacks is nudity. Those who follow
the books believe that, aside from romance, nudity is essential to the plots. When
it comes to the movie adaptation, will Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed

asked if Jamie Dornan is ever going to show full monty in Fifty Shades Darker and
Fifty Shades Freed ? His answer: If you want to know, come see the movie, he says.
The actor continues to tease, cites Cinema Blend. However, if the books are
indicative of anything, it means the sequels are raunchier. And it exposes both lead
characters to full frontal acts. Remember that boat scene where the two of them

How The Environment Affects A Person And Many Places
Places have a lot of significance tied to them depending on what they mean to
people. The place that I am going to talk about in this paper reminds me of a
peaceful place, because it has provided me with comfort and has allowed me to
grow within this calm place. Oxford Dictionary defines place as A building or area
used for a specified purpose or activity: the town has many excellent eating places .
Specific memories link with certain places that individuals go to, and have had them
shape them into who they are, or have guided them into having a better understanding
with what brings them peace. It has been shown that places actually do bring a
certain emotionor feelingonto a person, almost like an extra sense. Modern science is
confirming that people s thoughts, feelings and actions are indeed shaped not by just
their genes and neurochemistry, history and relationships but also by their
surroundings. How the environment affects a person and several places that are
considered by some cultures to be sacred and discussed. (Gallagher, 1993, p. 62)
A place that has an importance to me is the park behind Parkwood hospital. It has a
field with beautiful flowers that you can admire all day long, and there are also
walkways with a tiny waterfall followed with a couple of benches to be able to sit
down and admire the scenery. On the other side of it, there are picnic tables and
areas for families to come together and spend time with each other while admiring the

Withdrawal Of The Syrian Refugee Crisis
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This policy memo addresses the current possible U.S. options to the Syrian refugee
crisis. I have identified three different options: Increase Syrian refugee resettlement
commitments, establish safe zones in northern Syria, or seal the Syrian border. As
conditions continue to deteriorate in Syria and the number of refugees continues to
increase, it is critical that you strengthen the U.S. position in the country of Syria.
The establishment of safe zones would align our moral, strategic, and diplomatic
interests more than any other possible policy. Half of the electorate or more wants
refugees to establish safe homelands near or in their country, if possible, reducing the
perceived risk of increasing potential terrorism in the United States, the notion
grounded in reality or not. Also, historically, refugees have been allowed safe harbor
in United States and we could continue in such tradition, in the safest possible way.
BACKGROUND
The conflict in Syria between the government of Bashar al Assad and various other
forces, which started in the spring of 2011, continues to cause displacement within
the country and across the region. By the end of 2014, approximately 7.6 million
people were internally displaced and 3.7 million Syrians had fled the country since
the start of the conflict. Over 21.5 million people, or half of the country s pre war
population, have been displaced. The refugee situation is urgent, and it has placed an

In Guangdong, all of the three poorest counties, Xingning, Dabu and Wuhua are
located in Meizhou Muncipality. This widening income disparity between Meizhou
and other regions carries in it the seeds of future discontent and could well lead to
political instability. The time for action is now. Following Comrade Xi s message to
help people break away from poverty and achieve prosperity, concrete actions against
income inequality in Meizhou Municipality are the call of the hour. The key
recommendations to bridge income inequality between Meizhou Muncipality and
other regions of Guangdong are: (1) Push for equalization of basic public services
between urban and rural areas (2) Improve rural infrastructure to create better living
conditions as well as a better environment for economic activities (3) strengthen
vocational training for rural labourers and improve their ability to be employed in
non farming jobs
2. Causes and Context of Income Inequality in Meizhou Municipality
a. Geographical Conditions: There exists a great difference in geographical
conditions and natural resources among the Pearl River Delta Area (PRDA) and the
Mountainous Areas of Guangdong province. Meizhou, has therefore, not fully
benefited from the industrialization of the prosperity of the province, as most
industries are based in the PRDA. The development is relatively slow and people
lead a relatively poor life. Half of the

Managing Active Hemorrhage ( Mt )
Managing active hemorrhage is a particular challenge to the anesthesiologist due to
derangements in hemodynamics, coagulopathy and electrolytes. These are further
complicated by anesthesia, operational exposure and the need for intravascular
volume support during resuscitation. In addition, the anesthesiologist must attempt to
prevent post operative morbidity, especially concerning end organ dysfunction in
patients with at risk cardiovascular, neurovascular, pulmonary, hepatic or renal
function.
With an aging population, higher use of anticoagulants and the development of novel

Trauma patients transferred from the field often receive crystalloid infusion. In an
analysis of 8700 patients of the German Trauma Registry in 2006, 34% were overtly
coagulopathic at the time of presentation; the degree of derangement was
proportional to the degree of prior crystalloid resuscitation4. Specifically, 10% of
patients were coagulopathic after receiving 500 mL or less of crystalloid, which has
been shown to be a product of both acute trauma response and factor dilution4. In
trauma, abnormal coagulation panels at the time of presentation are associated with a
3 fold increase in mortality. Specifically, patients presenting with INR 1.5 have a
mortality of 30% compared to 5% in those with normal INR4. Further research shows
that factor depleted infusions potentiate coagulopathy of trauma5.

Historical Development Of Religious Research
Abstract
Researches on religiosity have always faced some obstacles due to its sensitive
nature. The lack of reliable research can be considered one factor which makes it
difficult for both Islamic and Western society to understand each assertion. The
purpose of this paper is to suggest questions which should be examined for further
and more correct understanding on religiosity by analyzing and comparing the results
of ten articles. This paper reviews ten articles which respectively deal with research
methodology, empirical survey on religious attitudes in Islamic society and empirical
survey on religious attitudes in Western society. As a result, it is emerged that there is
common tendency in religiosity. In addition, it is revealed that ... Show more content

Of all collisions that exist today, the one between Islam and the West is one of the
most evident and the most influential confrontation. In most cases, the collision
occurs due to different observances of international law like women s rights or the
criminal law. In addition, the difference in observance is caused by different attitudes
towards a religious idea or religion itself. Therefore, cultivating an understanding
on religious attitudes and tendencies of each country can be a way for two
antagonists to ease the discrepancy. Is it because for Western countries religious
adherence is not as important as Muslims that they one sidedly try to impose on
Islamic society an international idea which has roots in a Western thought? Or
even though Western citizens are also as religious as Muslims, are they able to
think of a political matter separately from religion? To reply to these questions,
religiosity of each religion followers must be analyzed and compared. The purposes
of this paper are firstly to detect what is needed for further understanding of Muslim
religiosity. Secondly, it is to explore what can be done to moderate the conflict.
Accordingly, this paper analyzes the results and suggestions from ten articles on
religious controversy or religiosity itself. The articles can be roughly classified into
three sections according to its main focus; 1) Introduction of measurement scale of
Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy
What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni
in the university s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn
and Tasha Rausch in the unique environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I
was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy with the retail pharmacyI work in.
The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and location which leads to
many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the
patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue
that Melanie commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s
prescription. Since the passing of HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep
their health information from their parents. As a pharmacist, one should be mindful
of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged students. This can
be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While
shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality.
If the pharmacy were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about
the medical conditions and medications that his or her friends have. It would be very
easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy
is planning to do this.
In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace
so that it is easy to respect patient confidentiality. For
Essay on Edgar Allen Poe s Cask of Amontillado
#65279;CASK OF AMONTILLADO Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask of Amontillado is
a story of fear and revenge. The dark side of human nature is exemplified through the
character of Montressor and his victim,
Fortunato. The story begins with Montressor s vow of revenge. This is proven in the
first sentence when Montressor says, The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne
best I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge. Montressor is a
manipulative and vengeful person. These characteristics lead to the death of
Fortunato. Through the words, acts, and thoughts of Montressor, one is able to see
him carry out his plan for revenge.

One of the first things that Montressor narrates to the reader is that he ....must not

condescending traits. Montressor addresses Fortunato in the catacombs by saying,

Montressor s actions also demonstrate his vengeful and manipulative nature. He lures

Discuss how Haddon s perspective on personal challenges is conveyed in the
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time. In your response, make a detailed
reference to your prescribed text.
The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time by Mark Haddon
conveys the author s perspective on personal challenges. The important challenges
that Haddon conveys is through a fifteen year old teenager named Christopher who is
diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. This syndrome limits Christopher with coping
and having relationships. The challenges that Haddon makes a close reference to are,
truth against lies, where Christopher hates liars but admires the truth. Another
challenge is having a disability and being different to the society, ... Show more

The narrative voice of Christopher is not linked with fact or logic but is based on
reasoning and reveals his great need of order in a disordered world. Haddon is
trying to point out that people with a chronic disease need to be acknowledged and
need people that are close and distant from them to act in a respectful matter and
respect the mutations of people with a disability.
Another important idea that Haddon refers to is having a disability segregates
someone from the rest of the society and they are seen as eccentric. Christopher s
disability not only affects him, but it also affects his family and the people
surrounding him. Christopher s parents had no prior training as they have a disabled
child as revealed to in the novel, this shows that the society has ignored those
people with disability and has not taken special requirements in order to support
them. The stresses with living with Christopher are shown he is lying on the floor
in a shop, in pool of urine and surrounded by bits of broken mixer. This is shown
through Judy s narrative voice. Christopher is convey as putting stress on his parents
and on their relationships as shown in the novel as his parents being separated.
Although he is clearly intelligent to go to university, coping there will take a great
deal of adjustment on his part and ongoing support from his parents and Siobhan who
is a teacher at his school.

which they named Moiseville. Due to lack of funding, the gauchos appealed to Baron
Maurice de Hirsch for funds and the Baron subsequently founded the Jewish
Colonization Association. During its heyday, the Association owned more than
600,000 hectares of land, populated by more than 200,000 Jews. While non Jews

Between 1906 and 1912, Jewish immigration increased at a rate of 13,000

a number of Sephardic Jews from Morocco and the Ottoman Empire also settled in

Our liberty requires that they are restrained from encroaching upon our freedom,
and in turn their liberty requires that they are safeguarded from us . Although the
individual may be sovereign over his or her body and mind, each must respect the
fact that every other individual enjoys an equal right to liberty. This has been
expressed by the modern liberal John Rawls (see p. 62) in the principle that
everyone is entitled to the widest possible liberty. (Heywood 2003). Isaiah Berlin
(1909 97) distinguished between negative and positive liberty. Classical liberals
believed that freedom consists in each person being left alone, free from
government interference and able to act in whatever way they may choose: This is
a negative conception of liberty. While Modern liberals, have been attracted to a
more positive conception of liberty, defined by Berlin as the ability to be one s own
master, to be autonomous. Self mastery requires that the individual is able to develop
or broaden his understanding with the absence of external restrictions or constraints.

General View Of Consumer Trends
The US market is an ever changing, heavily influenced entity that affects consumers
and the purchases they decide to make which in turn affects our economy and so
forth. Some of the main perspectives of consumer trends are demographics,
psychographics, economy, value, environment, global influences, and of course
consumption as it relates to products, brands, and shopping habits. In the following
research paper we will cover a general view of Consumer Trends in the US Market by
going in depth on the consumer factors of demographics, the global perspective, and
online consumption.

affecting the marketplace daily as they continue to evolve and influence consumer
decisions. Factors such as age, race, gender, family, marriage, income, and living
arrangements all affect and make up the ever changing consumer and their buying
habits in the US market. The most rapidly growing age segment in the US, is and

Disadvantages Of Multitasking
Multitasking causes many students one of the most problematic learning skills.
Students think that they are actually helping their ability to learn more efficiently, but
multitasking is actually making the learning process worse. Why are so many
students misinformed or confused about the disadvantages of multitasking?
Examining the learning process of the brain and bringing focus to the most efficient
ways of learning can provide more insight into this learning dilemma. This
information will supply a better understanding of what really helps the students to
learn.
Negative cognitive abilities are intensified when corresponding with multitasking. In
the article, How Does Multitasking Change The Way Kids Learn? Proves some of
the reasons why multitasking is corresponded with negative cognitive abilities when
it states, David Meyer, a psychology professor at the University of Michigan who s
studied the effects of divided attention on learning, takes a firm line on the brain s
ability to multitask: Under most conditions, the brain simply cannot do two complex
tasks at the same time. It can happen only when the two tasks are both very simple
and when they don t compete with each other for the same mental resources. It
processes and stores information in less useful ways, when distracted. (Paul 4). This
means when trying to complete many tasks at once, the brain cannot function
correctly in order to do so. Also when the mind is preoccupied it stocks the data in
worthless ways. This proves multitasking causes a negative cognitive ability the brain
cannot achieve, because the brain doesn t store the information in the correct ways;
therefore making them valueless. Multitasking also hinders student s thinking when
switching between tasks. The article How does Multitasking Change The Way Kids
Learn? Contributes to this idea when it states, There is greater difficulty transferring
student s learning to new contents especially when repeatedly dropping and picking
up a mental thread. (Paul 4). This also verifies that switching from one subject to
another allows student s to have trouble when they are constantly letting go and
picking up new information. This way means that student s cannot constantly be
switching

1. WHO was involved?
The two groups involved in this historical issue were factory workers and business
owners. Business owners who had selfish ideals and didn t care about the safety of
their employees because they were clouded by greed.
2. WHAT happened?
During this time factory workers faced harsh working conditions and had low

This is when the US started overflowing with new urban cities, where factories were
built. New technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made
the US the ideal trading partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but
most importantly it caused the blood and tears of deprived factory workers.
В· SLIDE 3: Causation
8. Why did it happen?
I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This
ideology supported the privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the
government was not actively involved in the way these owners ran their factories
and they were most definitely not concerned with how factory workers were treated.
Instead government officials ignored the problems within these factories and showed
zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any laws or rules
that limited business owners authorities of their factories.
9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event?
The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event
to occur. Without this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and
business owners wouldn t have reasons to act
Palace Theif Character Analysis
The story, Palace Theif, is a somewhat short story about a teacher s point of view of
how deeply students can affect those around them. Others would disagree with
how I would summarize the story but this I how truly felt after reading it.
Sedgewick, and those related to him, had a huge impact on our narrator, Mr.
Hundert. Even despite how after his student graduated he was still reminded by all
of the experiences he shared with him. The first relationship would of course be
Mr. Sedgewick himself. He is complicated boy with high status relations behind
him, as he is related to the Senator, his father. During the first interaction with
Sedgewick, Mr. Hundert was most likely aware that he was going to be a
troublemaker of his class. However seemed shocked once he received Sedgewick s
first exams. How poorly he did on it seemed surprising to him as it states, He was a
poor student and on his first exam could not even tell me who it was that Mark
Antony and Octavian had routed at Philippi, nor who Octavian later became,
although an average wood beetle in the floor of my classroom could have done so
with ease. (Line 12) This show exactly how he felt about Mr. Sedgewick. A simple
no brainer. As Sedgewick s grades get lower and lower, Mr Hundert decides to have
a meeting with his father. However during the meeting, which will be discussed later
on, things went the in a direction Mr. Hundert was not expecting. He learns how

The Lesson Of The Muhlenberg Lesson Plan
I will readily admit that I waited for the right lesson to compare to the Muhlenberg
Lesson Plan. Finding all the elements of the Muhlenberg Lesson Plan in lessons
throughout all of my fieldwork experiences would be difficult because for the most
part teachers do not seem to do set induction or closure. I chose to do my comparison
on a Macbethlessonin Mrs. Butterbaugh s tenth grade co taught class. This was
strictly an observed lesson, as Mrs. Butterbaugh does not do formal lesson plans.
The unit title could be Renaissance Literature: Macbeth. It would work well as a
comparison to the former unit on Medieval literature focused on Oedipus Rex. In
my future class, I would do some activity to compare the two. The lesson title could
be Influencing Macbeth: Act I and Act II. It was presented loosely as a two part
lesson, making connections in the second act to who is the strongest influence over
Macbeth and how his guilt begins to play a role in his downfall; this knowledge base
can be utilized throughout the rest of the playto scaffold the students toward Macbeth
s fatal flaw. The Pennsylvania State Standards and Common Core Standards cited

On one hand, the subject appears straightforward—after all, it's about elucidating the process of essay composition, a skill expected of high school students. However, delving into the intricacies of this seemingly simple task reveals the layers of complexity that can make the endeavor challenging. To begin with, one must consider the diverse audience—high school students have varying levels of writing experience, comprehension, and interest. • 2. Essay Comparing Two Open Universities Comparing two Open Universities within the Common Wealth: Athabasca University and the Allama Iqbal Open University at Islamabad When the Open University of the United Kingdom (OU UK) opened its doors in 1969 it was considered a revolution in higher education by many pedagogues. In the forty years that followed 80 similar higher open education institutes were established (Peters, O. 2010, p57 81). The common denominator of this new generation of distance universities is that they are open. During the OU UK inauguration Lord Crowther stated: We are open as to people ; as to places ; as to methods ; and finally to ideas (cf. Tunstall 1974, in Peters, O. 2010, p 62). What this openness entails, depends largely on the social, economic, and political circumstances in the country in which an open university is founded. Two former British colonies and members of the Common Wealth, Canada and Pakistan, were among the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was modeled after the Santa Cruz campus of the University of California. It aimed to have a small student population and focused on liberal arts (Byrne 1989). When it was founded, there were 3 more public universities in Alberta. There seemed to be room for a fourth university as the discovery of oil fields had resulted in a significant growth of both economy and population. Against expectations enrollment remained low and the government of Alberta decided to reform the UA into an online university as a pilot project (Byrne 1989). The pilot was started in 1972 and would run up to five years. It would be considered successful if enrolments would substantially increase or if it would attract students that otherwise would not have enrolled themselves in a university (Byrne, 1989). It was so successful that UA outgrew its first campus and was moved from Edmonton to Alberta in 1984
  • 3. The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating system, and touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to improve on the process. I work in the department of corrections and the evaluation system currently implemented is the managing, accountability, and performance (MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to subjective evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and for the most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to properly evaluate each employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their subordinates exactly the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no interest. Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not have any effect on your employment, since pay raises are not based from the appraisal. As you can imagine this method does little to raise the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in my opinion needs to be revamped. I would prefer an evaluation based more on objective performance and behavioral observations. An objective performance rating is based on the measuring of actual results from employees. Although the Department of Corrections does not produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the inmates. LaVeist and Thomas (2005) thoroughly expresses the dynamic nature of culture bound syndromes when they state: The symptoms of mental disorders are found in all nations and in all cultures; there are recognizable symptoms that are common worldwide. Mental health researchers have not yet been able to determine whether culture bound syndromes are indicative of one or more possibilities that include distinct disorders that exist only in specific cultures, and reflect different ways in which individuals from different cultures express mental illness, as well as reflecting different ways in which the social and cultural environment interact with genes to produce disorders, or any combination of these. (pp. 101) With the following information in mind, it should be noted that not all disorders are considered pathological; some behaviors are seen as ways of expressing and communicating distress to members of a certain culture and are seen as culturally accepted responses (APA, 1994). In fact, cultures experience, express, and cope with feelings of distress in various ways that may counter what Western societies see as common. Furthermore, at times these cultural differences are

Diversity Is The Equal Pay Act Of 1963 Essay Diversity in Human resources Let s Completely Stop Discrimination against women in the Workplace now that we have become more educated on how to promote gender equality Writing in 1991 the historian Joan Hoff observed that the legal status of women in the United States changed more rapidly in the last twenty five years than in the previous two hundred. These legal changes were among several sources for women s advancement in business after 1963. Some legal change came from government actions. State laws and judicial decisions increasingly supported the notion that women were entitled to the same rights and opportunities as men. This legal change was the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Most people think that gender equality is now common place in Western societies, but research shows that gender equality, which gained momentum in the 1970s, has since stalled, particularly when we look at class issues. Some issues have been hit head on, issues relating to sexist job ads and some sexist behavior at work...but we still have a long way to go. The wage gap between men and women is especially concerning. American women who work full time, year round, are paid only 79 cents for every dollar paid. It s long past time to close the gap. The wage gap is a harsh reality for women, regardless of education and work experience and it only gets worse as women s careers progress. The wage gap typically translates into more than $10,000 per year in lost earnings for women. Wage differences
  • 9. The Prince And Discourse On Livy In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously discusses the importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political order. Machiavelli regards religion as a political tool used by political elites for political purposes. He argues that the appearance of religionis good while the practice of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that supports Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince should cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The prince, he writes, should appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to have than this last quality (The Prince, 70). Here, Machiavelli argues, in order for the prince to maintain his state, it is necessary for the prince to go to the source of morality and by this he means religion. Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for maintaining a political authority. Furthermore, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the religion as a political mean to control and govern the masses. In the Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli uses the example of how Numa the founder of Roman religion, manipulates the Roman people by using religion to maintain order and peace. Machiavelli praises the wisdom of Numa for inventing a religion to control a very ferocious Romans. In praising Numa, Machiavelli writes: As he found a very

  • 13. Discuss The Difference Between New England And The... After waiting over 100 years before England joined the race for colonization, in 1607 England has finally established a permanent colony in Jamestown. Years later, in 1620, supposedly trying to land in Virginia, the Puritans accidentally landed in Plymouth Massachusetts. Therefore, while New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled and ruled by the English, by the 1700s they had evolved into two very separate distinct societies due to the differences in colonization, settlers, and economic activities in each region. The difference in colonization led to distinct societies between New England and the Chesapeake regions. In 1607, after Sir Walter Raleigh s colony of Roanoke was unsuccessful, Jamestown was successfully colonized and was due to an economic purpose. As stated by John Smith, Dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold (Doc 5). John Smith clearly shows how the colonists only cared about riches. They didn t care about establishing a colony as they were occupied and focused on the path to riches. More than half of us died (Doc 5). Due to this greed of riches and lack of control in the colony, many settlers as a consequence died. However, due to John Smith and his control over the colony, led Jamestown to not fail like the colony of Roanoke. Now while colonists focused on the economic gain they would receive from Jamestown, the Puritans focused on the religious freedom they would finally acquire. Now the Puritans wanted to separate from the Church of

However, this time it was clear that this wasn t an ordinary unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former American energy company, had to have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the largest chapter 11 bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that investors were blindsided by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stockfraud the market had ever seen. While it may be an enigma to many, the stock marketdoes have some simple ground rules that hold true almost all the time, no matter what stock one plans on investing in. The backbone of the stock market is generally coined buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet, but it encompasses all that is required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all somebody has to do is buy shares of a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell those shares when the price goes up. Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is essentially all one has to do to make a profit; rinse and repeat. This same rule works in reverse if someone is trying to avoid losing money on an investment. If shares of an overvalued stock are owned and the price is expected to decline, one would
  • 15. The Battle Between Grendel And Beowulf Carl Van Clausewitz once said, Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a warrior. In a culture where being a warrior is a very integral part of everyday lives, having courage is a key component of social survival. To have courage means to be able to defend a kingdom by every means possible. It means protecting and ascertaining the wellbeing of the people within one s own kingdom. And above all, courage means remaining loyal to one s king, regardless of the circumstance. This is the warriorculture that Beowulfin Beowulf was a part of successfully as a thane, and the same warrior culture that leads the narrator in The Wanderer to lament past memories. In Beowulf, the fight between Grendeland Beowulf was certainly a nail biter. In this fight, however, Beowulf shows his courage by doing his absolute best at defending the kingdom by taking on this gruesome monster. Grendel was wreaking havoc on the kingdom to no end. He was killing many and terrorizing the citizens greatly. When Beowulf heard of this, as a courageous thane, he stepped in to try to stop this and protect the people. Hygelac s kinsman kept [Grendel] helplessly locked in a handgrip. As long as either lived, he was hateful to the other. The monster s whole body was in pain; a tremendous wound appeared on his shoulder. Sinews split and the bone lappings burst. Beowulf was granted the glory of winning; Grendel was driven under the fen banks, fatally hurt, to his desolate lair (Lines
  • 16. Complications In The Homeric Hymn To Apollo And Aphrodite Both homeric hymns to Apollo and Aphrodite feature classic mythology that explains various situations between the god and goddess and the mortals. In particular how each god and goddess eludes mortals into behavior that both favors each party and a has negative consequences. Apollo and Aphrodite have similarities and differences in which they manipulate the humans in the stories that lead to very different outcomes. A similarity between the manipulation on apollos and aphrodite s part is that they each have a clear motive before there actions begin and some differences are that they have very different intentions and methods of the manipulation. A Similarity of both Apollo and Aphrodite manipulation is the revelations of the motives are revealed before their actions take place. In the first Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite, the story describes the beautiful, virgin goddess who falls in love with the mortal, Anchises. Aphrodite eludes the most powerful Greek god Zeusand in retaliation, Zeus forces aphrodite to have sex with a mortal. Aphrodite intentions are made clear before any actions take place and is described, And when she saw him, Aphrodite, lover of laughter, she loved him, and a terrifying desire seized her heart (Aphrodite 87 88). Comparing this hymn to the second Homeric Hymn to apollo, the story has similarities. For example, Apollo also reveals his intentions before manipulating the cretan Sailors, Apollo thought over in his heart who the priests should be that he would bring in to serve him in rocky Pytho. And while he was thinking about it, he spotted a fast ship on the wine sea, (Pythian 173). He describes the ship to be the one carrying the sailors and how he decided to make them his priests for his temple in Pytho. This is just one example of how Apollo and Aphrodite manage the situation between them and the mortals. In contrast, both Apollo and Aphrodite approach their situation differently. Aphrodite uses her and Anchises emotions to gain his trust. She eludes him to believe what she is saying is true and that she is not a goddess but a mortal princess. She lies to him because she realizes the reservations he has about having relationships with Immortals. Her long explanation of reasons

The main physical defenses are thorns, used to harm the herbivore, or predator. This harm to the animal triggers a negative response, therefore causing the animal to avoid that plant in the future. Plants commonly eaten sometimes form a sour or bitter taste or odor to deter herbivores. This mechanism causes herbivores to stay away from such plants and avoid eating them. In addition, poison serves as an effective deterrent, causing animals to stay away due to its effects. These poisons may cause vomiting or extreme illness, and in some cases, death, which warns herbivores to avoid such plants through experience or from warnings by other animals. A final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a predator of the king snakes accidentally goes in for a bite of the coral snake, they will be surprised to find that they have attacked a venomous snake instead. In order to catch and utilize food, both herbivores and predators have made evolutionary advancements to increase their success and survival. Most of these advancements were physical, as the giraffe displays. In order to reach leaves, the giraffe advanced its neck size, attaining more food. Like the giraffe, other animals undergo physical changes such as spiders, adapting their webs and size to better trap insects. Through the advancement of fibers in their webs and strengthening them, spiders adapted to their environment and can catch the insects most common in their ecosystem. Some animals in remote regions with limited food supply have adapted to intake large amounts of food at once and utilize it for a longer period of time than a typical animal would. Camels do so with water, making them able to travel across the desert for long amounts of time with limited water supply. Plants that serve as predators also adapt, a common example being the carnivorous plants. A carnivorous plant, such as the Venus fly Trap, can utilize both small insects and typical plant nutrients to nourish themselves. This proves to be an advantage for them because insects are frequent in their areas, while soil nutrients can dwindle more. Also, certain plants advance themselves through

The story is set up as a fable using a third person objective viewpoint and personification of animals to represent historical figures and stereotypes. Distortion can also be found in much of the symbolism throughout the novel. Similar to a fable, Animal Farm makes use of personification. In the story, farm animals are used to represent different classes of people, from the average working man to government officials and police or military personnel. This brings the reader to the level of the working class animals and instills a sense of uncertainty and disillusionment that is felt by most of the characters in the story. In the beginning, the animals are excited by Major s talk of rebellion against Mr. Jones and through Orwell s objective point of view, the same feeling of insurrection is passed on to the audience. As the pigs weave an intricate web of lies and scandal, the reader gets the sense that not all is well in the same way the animals do. The difference between the animals and ourselves lies in intelligence. The author deliberately makes the characters dumber than the average person, allowing us to see through the deception of the pigs, without the use of a third person omniscient viewpoint. Symbolically, Animal Farm itself is supposed to represent Russia and the Soviet Union under Communist control. The farm in today s world, being a small, self sustaining entity may relate to current conditions in North Korea. It seems that Kim Jong il, like the pigs, is much more equal than his subjects. Kim and Napoleon seem to share the paranoia of being attacked by more powerful rivals, and both it seems, have a desire to keep their respective nations in the dark. Perhaps less specifically, the farm could represent human society as a whole. As mentioned earlier, the characters display an entire spectrum of human classes and stereotypical personalities. The establishment of safe zones would align our moral, strategic, and diplomatic interests more than any other possible policy. Of all collisions that exist today, the one between Islam and the West is one of the most evident and the most influential confrontation. In most cases, the collision occurs due to different observances of international law like women s rights or the criminal law. In addition, the difference in observance is caused by different attitudes towards a religious idea or religion itself. Therefore, cultivating an understanding on religious attitudes and tendencies of each country can be a way for two antagonists to ease the discrepancy. Is it because for Western countries religious adherence is not as important as Muslims that they one sidedly try to impose on Islamic society an international idea which has roots in a Western thought? Or even though Western citizens are also as religious as Muslims, are they able to think of a political matter separately from religion? To reply to these questions, religiosity of each religion followers must be analyzed and compared. The purposes of this paper are firstly to detect what is needed for further understanding of Muslim religiosity. Secondly, it is to explore what can be done to moderate the conflict. Accordingly, this paper analyzes the results and suggestions from ten articles on religious controversy or religiosity itself. The articles can be roughly classified into three sections according to its main focus; 1) Introduction of measurement scale of
  • 27. Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni in the university s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn and Tasha Rausch in the unique environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy with the retail pharmacyI work in. The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and location which leads to many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue that Melanie commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s prescription. Since the passing of HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep their health information from their parents. As a pharmacist, one should be mindful of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged students. This can be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality. If the pharmacy were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about the medical conditions and medications that his or her friends have. It would be very easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy is planning to do this. In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace so that it is easy to respect patient confidentiality. For

The dark side of human nature is exemplified through the character of Montressor and his victim, Fortunato. The story begins with Montressor s vow of revenge. One of the first things that Montressor narrates to the reader is that he ....must not only punish but punish with impunity. Montressor is manipulative, as he tells Fortunato that he will have someone else taste the Amontillado, knowing that by doing this Fortunato will feel compelled to taste the wine himself. As you are engaged, I am on my way to Luchresi. If anyone has a critical turn I is he. He will tell me... In addition to being manipulative and vengeful, Montressor also displays condescending traits. Montressor addresses Fortunato in the catacombs by saying, ...your health is precious. You are rich, respected, admired, beloved; you are happy as once I was. You are a man to be missed. Montressor s actions also demonstrate his vengeful and manipulative nature. He lures Fortunato into the catacombs of his home to carry out his plans. First he caters to Fortunato s ego by saying that someone else was as good a judge of wine as he. Then Montressor tricks

In your response, make a detailed reference to your prescribed text. The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time by Mark Haddon conveys the author s perspective on personal challenges. The important challenges that Haddon conveys is through a fifteen year old teenager named Christopher who is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. This syndrome limits Christopher with coping and having relationships. The challenges that Haddon makes a close reference to are, truth against lies, where Christopher hates liars but admires the truth. Another challenge is having a disability and being different to the society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrative voice of Christopher is not linked with fact or logic but is based on reasoning and reveals his great need of order in a disordered world. Haddon is trying to point out that people with a chronic disease need to be acknowledged and need people that are close and distant from them to act in a respectful matter and respect the mutations of people with a disability. Another important idea that Haddon refers to is having a disability segregates someone from the rest of the society and they are seen as eccentric. Christopher s disability not only affects him, but it also affects his family and the people surrounding him. Christopher s parents had no prior training as they have a disabled child as revealed to in the novel, this shows that the society has ignored those people with disability and has not taken special requirements in order to support them. The stresses with living with Christopher are shown he is lying on the floor in a shop, in pool of urine and surrounded by bits of broken mixer. This is shown through Judy s narrative voice. Christopher is convey as putting stress on his parents and on their relationships as shown in the novel as his parents being separated. Although he is clearly intelligent to go to university, coping there will take a great deal of adjustment on his part and ongoing support from his parents and Siobhan who is a teacher at his school.

Although the individual may be sovereign over his or her body and mind, each must respect the fact that every other individual enjoys an equal right to liberty. This has been expressed by the modern liberal John Rawls (see p. 62) in the principle that everyone is entitled to the widest possible liberty. (Heywood 2003). Isaiah Berlin (1909 97) distinguished between negative and positive liberty. Classical liberals believed that freedom consists in each person being left alone, free from government interference and able to act in whatever way they may choose: This is a negative conception of liberty. While Modern liberals, have been attracted to a more positive conception of liberty, defined by Berlin as the ability to be one s own master, to be autonomous. • 35. Disadvantages Of Multitasking Multitasking causes many students one of the most problematic learning skills. Students think that they are actually helping their ability to learn more efficiently, but multitasking is actually making the learning process worse. Why are so many students misinformed or confused about the disadvantages of multitasking? Examining the learning process of the brain and bringing focus to the most efficient ways of learning can provide more insight into this learning dilemma. This information will supply a better understanding of what really helps the students to learn. Negative cognitive abilities are intensified when corresponding with multitasking. In the article, How Does Multitasking Change The Way Kids Learn? Proves some of the reasons why multitasking is corresponded with negative cognitive abilities when it states, David Meyer, a psychology professor at the University of Michigan who s studied the effects of divided attention on learning, takes a firm line on the brain s ability to multitask: Under most conditions, the brain simply cannot do two complex tasks at the same time. It can happen only when the two tasks are both very simple and when they don t compete with each other for the same mental resources. It processes and stores information in less useful ways, when distracted. (Paul 4). This means when trying to complete many tasks at once, the brain cannot function correctly in order to do so. Also when the mind is preoccupied it stocks the data in worthless ways. This proves multitasking causes a negative cognitive ability the brain cannot achieve, because the brain doesn t store the information in the correct ways; therefore making them valueless. Multitasking also hinders student s thinking when switching between tasks. The article How does Multitasking Change The Way Kids Learn? Contributes to this idea when it states, There is greater difficulty transferring student s learning to new contents especially when repeatedly dropping and picking up a mental thread. (Paul 4). This also verifies that switching from one subject to another allows student s to have trouble when they are constantly letting go and picking up new information. This way means that student s cannot constantly be switching

New technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made the US the ideal trading partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but most importantly it caused the blood and tears of deprived factory workers. В· SLIDE 3: Causation 8. Why did it happen? I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This ideology supported the privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the government was not actively involved in the way these owners ran their factories and they were most definitely not concerned with how factory workers were treated. Instead government officials ignored the problems within these factories and showed zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any laws or rules that limited business owners authorities of their factories. 9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event? The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event to occur. Without this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and business owners wouldn t have reasons to act

Others would disagree with how I would summarize the story but this I how truly felt after reading it. Sedgewick, and those related to him, had a huge impact on our narrator, Mr. Hundert. Even despite how after his student graduated he was still reminded by all of the experiences he shared with him. The first relationship would of course be Mr. Sedgewick himself. He is complicated boy with high status relations behind him, as he is related to the Senator, his father. During the first interaction with Sedgewick, Mr. Hundert was most likely aware that he was going to be a troublemaker of his class. However seemed shocked once he received Sedgewick s first exams. How poorly he did on it seemed surprising to him as it states, He was a poor student and on his first exam could not even tell me who it was that Mark Antony and Octavian had routed at Philippi, nor who Octavian later became, although an average wood beetle in the floor of my classroom could have done so with ease. (Line 12) This show exactly how he felt about Mr. Sedgewick. A simple no brainer. As Sedgewick s grades get lower and lower, Mr Hundert decides to have a meeting with his father.
