1. Compared to Flashes of War, The Ice Storm by Rick Moody is completely
different from Katey Schultz s book. Not only be genre, but also by writing styles.
Reading through the first chapter I was a bit shocked with Moody s explicitness.
The book is very sexual and carries an uncomfortable vibe. The first character
introduced, Benjamin Hood, is an odd character to me. I ve never read a book with a

summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the
main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting
and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult
world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with
this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he
wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children,
protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The
fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling
loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years
later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews
questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal
idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen
such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed
toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger

about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in
the adult world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and

Throughout a young adult s life there are many things that can drastically change in
five year time period. In fact, I believed to be the age of twenty three years old
waiting to see what the world is about. Like many young adults planning for the
future perhaps I can characterize my myself at twenty three irresponsible individual
with any goals set for my future . As for my present age of twenty seven, I feel like a
mature butterfly sprung with wings of eagerness and wanting to complete goals.
Therefore, the transformation I ve made in five year period reflected on a more
stability lifestyle and engaged me to continue my education journey.
Being the age of twenty three was like a sixteen old teen driving their parent s
wild. My everyday ambition was to hang out with friends and party all most every
night. Since I was unable to afford a place of my own ,I was living under my parent
s roof without the expense of paying bills. My job at the moment was a part time
child care assistance which the pay rate was horrible with any benefits to take care

Reflection Of Schindler s List
It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do
just that could be to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature,
describe how it makes you feel, and see what that says about you as a person. As
such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List , one of my favorite
movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindlerwho uses WorldWar 2 as an opportunity
to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman
who knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to
start his manufactory near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for
cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout the film, starting as selfish and ending
up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his responsibility and
uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is
initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and
allows this to continue and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the
end of the movie, he ends up saving over eleven hundred jews, and his only regret
that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved more. This film
demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is
inherent in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I
believe people are responsible for their own actions. I came to believe this for
several reasons. When I was growing up, it was common for my parents to say
things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in
were both similar in that regard. The idea was that your actions produce a net
result that affects you and potentially others. My father usually said this to me in
regards to being a decent person or playing football. He drove me to be a better
athlete but said I was responsible to work hard. He told me that I am a result of the
decisions I make, that I become my actions. I had observed this for myself in the real

The facts speak for themselves. The majority of former child soldiers suffer from at
least one mental impairment such as post traumatic stress disorder, depression,
anxiety, and other disorders that makes it extremely hard for them to function in
everyday life as a member of society. many former child soldiers also have issues

Children are extremely resilient and can bounce back from traumatic experiences.
