Social Policy Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Social Policy Essays" can be quite challenging due to the
multifaceted nature of the topic. Social policy encompasses a wide range of issues, including but
not limited to welfare, healthcare, education, and employment. As a result, delving into the
complexities of social policies requires a thorough understanding of various governmental
systems, societal structures, and the impact of policies on diverse communities.
One of the difficulties lies in the extensive research required to comprehend the historical
context, evolving trends, and the current state of social policies. This involves digging into
academic journals, policy papers, and statistical data to gain a comprehensive perspective.
Additionally, the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information is crucial to formulating
a coherent argument.
Moreover, navigating through the ethical considerations surrounding social policies can pose a
challenge. Issues such as equality, justice, and the balance between individual rights and societal
interests require thoughtful reflection and nuanced exploration.
Another aspect that adds complexity is the ever-changing nature of social policies. Governments
regularly update and amend policies in response to societal needs, economic shifts, and political
ideologies. Staying abreast of these changes is essential to provide a well-informed and up-to-
date analysis.
The writing process itself demands clarity, precision, and effective communication of ideas.
Balancing a deep dive into the details with maintaining an overarching view of the subject can
be demanding. Ensuring that the essay is not just informative but also engaging for the reader
requires skillful articulation.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Social Policy Essays" involves grappling with a vast and
intricate subject matter, conducting thorough research, navigating ethical considerations, staying
updated on evolving policies, and effectively communicating complex ideas. It's a task that
demands not only writing proficiency but also a keen understanding of social, political, and
economic dynamics. For those finding this task daunting, seeking assistance from professional
writing services can provide valuable support.

Charles Darwin Accomplishments
Honor is respect that is given to someone who is admired. To me a person who is
respected and admired by others is honorable. Charles Darwin was born on
February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. He was a biologist and a scientist.
Darwin was the youngest of six children. His dad was a medical doctor. Charles
mom died when he was only eight years old. His grandfather was an honored
scientist as well. Charles Darwinlived a wealthy childhood and loved to explore
nature. His dad want he to become a scientist but Charles did not like the site of

explaining his theory. One of his books that he wrote was called On the Origin of
Species which he published in 1859. Another one was called The Voyage of the

major accomplishment for Charles Darwin. Which he was and will be greatly
honored for.
Charles Darwin was honored for many things. One of the many things he was
honored for was discovering the theory of evolution by natural selection. He is
honored because even though he knew his ideas would be criticized at that time he
still published his finding about his theory. Once he did that he found someone who

Essay on 3 Key Aspects of the Anaesthetic Nurse Role
An in depth analysis of three key aspects of the anaesthetic nurse role
The relationship between the perioperative nurse and the patient has suffered a long
process of mutation throughout the last decades. If before all the dynamics
experienced within an operating theatre were based upon organizational and logistical
aspects, these days the focus lies on the patient and all the comfort and security
demanded throughout a process that already reveals itself aggressive for the patient.
Being the front line person in this dynamic, the anaesthetic nurse plays a crucial and
intense role on the patient s experience.
An anaesthetic nurse is knowledgeable and technically skilled. However, as Flin and
colleagues extensively analysed (2008), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Lingard and colleagues have studied and supported the idea of
preoperative checklist and team briefings to prevent or decrease communication
failures (Lingard et al. 2008). In fact, the World Health Organization has standardised
a surgical safety list (appendix 1) that through effective communication ensures the
right patient, right procedure and the necessary steps/actions are guaranteed (World
Health Organization 2008).
On the other hand, although a team briefing is not a requirement it enhances
communication and teamwork and highlights possible issues that can be dealt more
effectively if all the team members are aware and help (for example sharing with the
team members an anticipated difficult intubation).
Situation Awareness
Situation awareness has been explained as a three stage process: perception,
comprehension and projection (Endsley 2012). According to Endsley, situation
awareness begins by perceiving the elements of the environment (Level 1) after which
an integration and understanding of those elements (Level 2) will then generate a
prediction of near future events (Level 3).
Situation awareness is one of the non technical skills that were first acknowledged

Roots Of Revolution In Herman Melville s Billy Budd
Roots of Revolution
In Part V of Victor Hugo s Les MisГ©rables, Jean Valjean, through the following
quote, To owe life to a criminal...to betray society in order to remain true...these
absurdities should come about and be heaped on top of him...it was this that defeated
him, explains how Javert s subjugation to his internal conflict imploded and
eventually influenced his suicide (Hugo 1181). History has shown that a person s or
group s decision to take action with their given situation will inevitably have an effect
on their state of conflict. Events such as the American and French Revolutions
evidence this statement. Similarly, a person s state of conflict will also inevitably
form them into whatever the situation yields. A well known American... Show more

According to the Oxford American Dictionary, mutiny means an open rebellion
against the proper authorities . In chapters 3 5 of Billy Budd, Sailor Melville gives
the reader an overview of two mutinies that occurred in Europe in 1797. One
known as the Spithead occurred in April of that year. The other, known as The
Great Mutiny, occurred at the Nore, a sand bank in the Mediterranean Sea, in July
of the same year (17). Melville s description of these events provides historical
context within the story that convince the reader that they occurred. Melville
incorporates Billy Budd into the issue of mutiny when Billy finds himself
approached by another sailor. This sailor begins to relate to Billy by stating his
own impressment and suggests a potential riot when he says Couldn t you help at
a pinch? (Melville 58) The fellow seaman continues his endeavor to involve Billy
by throwing in bribery; however, Billy quickly impedes this notion by threatening
to throw the seaman overboard. Melville makes evidence for this when Billy says
If you d don t start, I ll t t toss you back over the rail ( 58). As one can see, the issue
of mutiny never actually surfaced in spite of the fact that Billy Budd eventually
became the alleged insurgent of the idea of mutiny. In spite of the fact that Billy
initially conceived no notion of
Double Replacement Reaction Lab Report
In this experiment, double replacement reactions amongst six aqueous compounds
were witnessed. (Find better place for this sentence )The six known solutions were
NaOH, K2SO4, Cu (NO3)2, Pb(NO3)2, Co(NO3)2, and BaCl2. Following this,
deductive reasoning was used to determine the identity of two unknown solutions,
based off of how they reacted with the six standard compounds. In order to set up
the experiment, firstly each of the six compounds were poured onto six makeshift
wells on a mirrored sheet, with each well containing two drops of a single
compound. The original color of each compound was recorded. After this, two more
drops of the compounds were added to the individual wells so that each well would
contain a unique combination of two compounds. Once this was completed, it was
determined which solutions had reacted by whether or not a precipitate formed in
the solution. If a precipitate had formed, the new color of the solution was recorded.
The result of this portion of the experiment where as follows: The clear solution of...

Because the first unknown s cation formed a precipitate with the OH from NaOH,
the cation cannot be Barium, as BaOH is a soluble compound. The unknown
substance also did not react with BaCl2, and so the cation cannot be lead, as lead
always forms a precipitate with chlorides. However, it formed no precipitate with
either Cu(NO3)2 or , Co(NO3)2, which means the cation is either copper or lead.
Because the unknown formed a precipitate with BaCl2, and Barium can only form
an insoluble compound with sulfate, the anion of the compound must be SO42.
Finally, because the resulting precipitate was blue, it was finally deduced the cation
is Cu2+, as blue solutions are a characteristic of copper. Therefore, the identity of the
first unknown is CuSO4, or Copper (II)

Personal Narrative About Yosemite
When my dad first talked to me about Yosemite, he described it as the most epic
place on earth. I thought it would be pretty, but I never predicted how unreal it
would actually be. My experience there was one I can never fully put into words.
It was liberating, refreshing, and calming. I felt like a light inside of me had been
lit again. When I was staring out at the valley, all my problems seemed to drift
away. Standing at the top of Glacier Point, I take in a panoramic view of my
surroundings. Huge bundles of tourists walk around, taking photos and gasping at
the breathtaking view. I stand with my sister, 25 lb backpacking backpacks sit
heavily like a bag of rocks on our backs as we chew our green apple sour gum. My

As we get closer to the floor of the valley, I get a better look at illilouette falls. The
falls shoot out of the granite rock and swim down into a small lake. We stop here
and dip our feet in the cold, but refreshing, water. I sit down on the side of the lake
and splash a bit. I also take the time to chew on a piece of spicy jerky and crunchy
apple. The food recharges my body, and I feel energy flood my body. Once back
on the trail, I drag myself up a set of switchbacks going up the steep rock face. The
sun is beating down at this point, and I wipe the sweat beading up on my forehead.
I feel as if I have been walking forever on the rocky path, small bushes, and plants
around me when we finally reach the top. The wind blows around me like a
tornado, helping me. As we start the descend down, it feels as if it takes forever
until we reach the Nevada Falls. They are loud and powerful and tumble down until
it becomes a stream with huge rocks poking out. Around the stream are green trees
and lots of plants. At the top of the falls, there is a footbridge which you are able to
cross. I myself cross it, peering at the falls, intrigued by how turbulent it is. Although
the falls are fast and tremendous, they have a calming effect on
Preventative Measures of Alcohol Consumption in
Kazakhstan
At the recent years Kazakhstani society has identified the increase of levels of
alcohol consumption as a major problem, along with corruption, poverty,
unemployment, and epidemic illnesses. Current levels of alcohol consumption would
seem to be high enough to place Kazakhstan amongst the heaviest spirits drinking
countries in the world, although not high enough for the top place. Many of
Kazakhstani social, demographic and health problems are attributable to the misuse
of alcohol. According to Davis, this view is shared with some Western analysts who
have studied the effects of heavy drinking in Post Soviet states and have predicted
that addiction could become one of the greatest obstacles to public health and social
progress(as cited in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be familiar with the topic, we need to consider literature referring to
Russian Federation s. Purpose of review is to describe material on politics towards
decreasing consumption in Kazakhstan and Russia, and to determine which of it has
the most essential and important impact on society.
National Center for Problems of Healthy Lifestyle Development, branch of WHO,
proposes the Healthy Lefestyle Program for the years 2008 2016, in which
preventative measures in combating drug and alcohol addiction are in focus(2010).
The main measures are activities to develop social movement, the introduction of
new information and game technologies, discussions on mental health issues, and
promoting the strengthening of preventive activities of workers to reduce alcohol
use of workplaces (2010). Article also tells about basic principles of country policies
to control alcoholism. In my opinion, some of them might be successful in future (
e.g. toughening criminal liability for distribution of alcohol up to imprisonment,
creation a national network of free institutions for compulsory treatment of drug
addiction and alcoholism, implementation of active continuous education about the
harm of narcotics, psychotropic drugs, including through social advertising on central
TV channels of the country).
Drinking styles and patterns of people in Kazakhstan are various, because of the fact

Family Guy Racism
The corpus to be analyzed consists of the most controversial episodes of an
internationally popular and long running adult animation show called Family Guy.
This show represents cultural attitudes and embodies how the youth of today see
themselves and others, as well as influencing viewers. Some messages in this popular
show, and others like it, underscore prejudices and racist attitudes in our society,
showcasing the discrimination that minorities and some ethnicities face.
Furthermore, these shows actually serve to strengthen existing prejudices, increasing
these attitudes in viewers. The target audience of Family Guyis primarily youth in
their teens and young adults (it also slants mostly male). This age group is of course
more impressionable than others, being in their formative years; the messages in the
television that they watch, then, have a particularly strong effect on their perceptions
of raceand ethnicity. In the Family Guy episode PTV , Osama bin Ladenis depicted
humorously recording a threat to America, using a rubber chicken and other
slapstick humor; he goes on to make a joke that someone used a doctor s note to get
out of a suicide bombing. This joke is highly offensive, propagating a bigoted point
of view of Arab, Middle Eastern, and South Asian (hereinafter AMESA ) worlds,
which are often perceived as being barbaric, untrustworthy, anti democratic, violent,
and filled with religious militants (Hughey and Muradi 2009). Shows like this that
Art Vs Visual Art
Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created
before the 20th century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given
up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through
the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable
question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that
traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike
traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills,
and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner.
Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made
about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why
someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who
disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a
famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago,
it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings
by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on),
and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite
its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed
later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its

Chemical Mixture, Using Filtration And Evaporation
Introduction
The objective of this lab will be to proficiently separate a mixture, using filtration and
evaporation. In this lab, a homogeneous mixture will be created, along with a
heterogeneous mixture. The two mixtures will be mixed together, yet separated.
Common substances will be mixed and then separated using two of the techniques
already listed; filtration and evaporation.
Theory
If the salt, sand, and water mixture is separated successfully through filtration and
evaporation, then the percent recovery of the salt and sand will be 100%.
Salt, sand, and water are each substances that are made up of 2 or more elements
chemically combined, or compounds. When mixing compounds, it can be either a
homogeneous mixture or a heterogeneous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will let the filtrate through but leave the sand behind. The filtrate is the liquid
that passes through the funnel during filtration. In this experiment, the saltwater
solution is the filtrate. The solution remaining in the beaker will then be heated
over a Bunsen burner. As the solution is being heated, the water in the saltwater
solution will evaporate off until only the salt is remaining in the beaker.
Evaporation is a process where a soluble solid is separated from a liquid. The lab
ends with the sand on the filter paper, and the salt remaining in the beaker.
In order to successfully reach the objective of the lab, the amount of each substance
that is being separated must stay consistent from start to finish. The amount of each
substance before it is added to the mixture and after it has been separated needs to
be recorded so that comparison and analysis will be correct. All of the data will be
used to calculate the percent recovery of the sand and the salt. To find percent
recovery, the following equation used will be:
% Recovery = Amount of the substance recovered Original amount of the substance x
100
The answer will then show if separating the mixture was successful, and in turn
completing the lab and objective.

Defamiliarization In William Carlos Williams s To A Poor...
What do words actually mean? When we are reading, many of us don t actually
stop to think about the meaning of each word (unless the word is unfamiliar),
instead we just assume what it means we read automatically. Looking at the poem,
To A Poor Old Woman by William Carlos Williams, we see the Shklovsky s concept
of defamiliarization in use. When we look at Shklovsky s concept, The technique of
art is to make objects unfamiliar to make forms difficult, to increase the difficulty
and length of perception because the process of perception is an aesthetic end in
itself and must be prolonged (Rivkin and Ryan 9). Using this same concept, looking
at the first stanzaof To a Poor Old Woman, we see the way that the stanza was
structured in a way to make it unfamiliar. The author splits the sentences up where
they normally wouldn t be split up, so that gives that sense of unfamiliarity, so we
begin to questionwhat the words actually mean. If a person attempts to read it as a
normal sentence, we would see that someone is eating a plum, the street is a paper
bag, and something is in her hand. The reason I believe the lines are broken up in a
weird way is because it s trying to give that sense of unfamiliarity to get an audience
to focus on what this stanza is really trying to say. Looking at the second stance, we
see the repetition of They taste good to her written in different forms. This repetition
gives an unfamiliar sense because each time it repeats, it gives off

Skinner s View On Psychology And The Contrasting Views
Of...
Introduction
This essay will explore B. F. Skinner s view on the focus of psychology and the
contrasting view of the mentalists. It will then go on to consider the benefits of
Skinners way of seeing psychology and thus how he was able to turn psychology into
a science with measurable outcomes and bring evidence into a subject that had
become subjective and unquantifiable.
Purpose of Psychology
Skinner stated that the purpose of psychology should be the study of behaviour. He
had come to this conclusion whilst performing studies on rats. (Skinner, 1938).
Mentatlistic approach
Prior to skinner the pervading view of behaviour within psychology was concerned
with thoughts and inner feelings that were thought to directly cause
behaviour.(Cooper, Heron, Heward, 2007)
Skinner thought that the study of psychology had remained unchanged for centauries
and that the subject had made virtually no progress.(Skinner, 1973)
He believed that behaviour should be studied in a scientific way rather than an
introspective way.
Natural Science
Behaviour Psychology or Biology D M (1)
(Blackman, 1991) puts the case forward that the study of behaviour should come
under the subject of biology rather than psychology on the grounds that behaviour
occurs naturally when consequences are applied. Skinner had said a similar thing
himself in (1963) when he considered the choice of the placement of behaviour in the
scheme of things. He said that if the mind was going to be the subject
Alkaline Batteries
Batteries are machines that turn chemical energy into electrical energy by combining
different chemicals. (What is a battery, n.d). The difference alkaline batteries and
other types of batteries is alkaline batteries are not reusable while of the other battery
types are. (What are Batteries, 2014). Despite how many times the various battery
types can be used, they are all made of the same chemicals. When electrons flow in
the battery, it creates an electrical current that powers things. The battery puts the
right chemicals in the right relationships, and then puts a wall between them. When
the two opposite sides of a battery are connected by a conductor, the electrons flow

that having a temperature that is too cool can be dangerous. If the computer is too

man, C.C.Baxter who is constantly allowing people to use his apartment for their
own personal pleasures. Baxter gives in to his co workers at the office to use his
apartment and often risking his basic needs for survival, like sleep. Mr. Sheldrake,
Baxter s boss, has the authority to treat others how he wants to. Fran Kubelik, the
elevator woman, Baxter and Sheldrake use everyday at work. Miss Kubelik tends to
have a undercover relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. These characters relationships of
temporary or permanent inequality define their dominant or subordinate behaviors.
Baxter and Sheldrake have a relationship of temporary inequalities. During the film,
C.C Baxter continuously goes through problems with his office buddies constantly
needing his apartment. Baxter believes no matter what he does or says with Mr.
Sheldrake it will not be taken into consideration. Just following doctors orders, I ve
decided to become a mensch , Mr. Sheldrake that means being a human and Baxter
finally took charge (Apartment). Baxter s relationship to Mr. Sheldrake is a
temporary inequality situation due to him constantly taking orders from others.
Miller s document claims that dominants rely on Subordinates; lack of skill,
knowledge etc... In Baxters position he is always giving in to people s needs. But
the most basic difference is the one between men and women and Baxter acts like a
woman in his relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. When Baxter and Sheldrake are
talking about Baxter s promotion he gave him a slight threat for his job. The
dominant, Sheldrake understands that power and him acting as a dominating man
forces Baxter to behave as a subordinate and take his orders. A similar relationship to
Baxter and sheldrake is Miss Kubelik and Sheldrake.
Kubelik and Sheldrake are in a state of permanent inequality. Miss Kubelik has a
undercover, not very solid relationship with Mr. Sheldrake
Oppression Essay
Oppression signifies an authority over another group, disengaging that particular
group from the rest of society. The term oppression encapsulates the fusion of
institutional and systemic discrimination, personal bias, bigotry, and social prejudice
in a complex web of relationships and structures that shade most aspects of life in our
society (Bell, 1997). In one way or another every individual experiences some form of
oppression, whether it be through race, sex, gender, religion, age, wealth and/or
sexual orientation. These cultural minorities experience inequality where a dominant
culture casts its authority and power through exercises of unjust and cruel methods;
these methods have been experienced through the Women s Movement, the... Show

A great achievement of women s movements worldwide has been their success in
breaking the silence about male violence against women in intimate relationships
(Vickers, 2002). Having broken the silence of violence it has also broken the
silence of oppression. The ongoing battle(s) of women s rights suggests that the
silence of oppression is of the past and the future holds equality for all alike.
...power is the capacity to terrorize, to use self and strength to inculcate fear, fear in
a whole class of persons (Dworkin, 1981). Male dominance exhibits and practices
fear toward those of different classes, its use is to gain power to which control is
given. In the male system, sex is the penis, the penis is sexual power, its use in
fucking is manhood (Dworkin, 1981). The male mind indicates that without a penis
an authority of power is dismissed and overlooked. Unfortunate for society today
male hierarchy continues to be the dominant practice and the penis is a visual and
vital form of power. Male sexual power is the substance of culture (Dworkin, 1981).
Although women have come a long way their oppression and limited amount of
power in society has yet to be broken and adjusted because of this visual of the male
penis extracting power in society. With the Women s Movement challenging women s
rights it did however omit African American women from the process. The Civil

The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion
At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion
seems to not quite follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the
original unpublished conclusion to this book, Anne retains her standard silence that
is her signature characteristic. However, with a modest amount of studying one will
find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her character s progression
through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards comfort in
speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain
Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the
silent character, leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak
more and more. Due to this we are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking
so much.
More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point?
Throughout this book we are given enough information to see that Anne speaks
much less in comparison to all the other characters, however we are never given
anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation that we find in
Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her
word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne.
(Austen, 1817) This seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as
much, knowing that they would always get automatically shut down for being
considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne s own family to treat
her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least
treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this
though is that in the very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed,
though he had no affection for Anne, and no vanity flattered, to make him really
happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad match for her. It is clearly
stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter Anne.
This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her
reason for silence. The next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of
Anne. We see in the last
Ballet During The Russo-American Era
Dance is found in all cultures. It is considered a way to communicate without talking.
During the Renaissance period, ballet was considered a Russian specialty. The highly
qualified and sought after dance companies would tour the world performing in front
of those who had never experienced ballet before. By exposing ballet to the United
States of America, the Russians inspired and sparked a demand for legitimate ballet
in America. It took place throughout the 20th century, currently known as the Russo
American Era. During the Russo American Era, Russian choreographers, such as,
Michel Fokine, Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, LГ©onide Massine, and Bronislava
Nijinska; benefited from the American audience and started to make dramatic
changes to the classical ballet. Every single one of these choreographers
implemented and transformed the way people view, danced and perceived ballet in
the early 20th century. Several ideas for these innovations were from Michel Fokine.
In 1914, he wrote a letter to the London Times, stating the five principles of ballet that
befitted the 20th century ballet:
1.Each dance should use new forms of movement suitable to its subject and period.
2.Dance and mime should be used to express dramatic action.
3.Mime should be used only when the ballet s style dictates it, in other cases the
dancer s whole body, not only the hands, should be used to communicate.
4.The corps de ballet should be used for plot development and as a means of
expression.

Research Paper On Should Student Athletes Be Paid For...
Group Thesis: Student athletes should be paid for their participation in college
athletic programs.
Individual Thesis: Have you ever wondered why NFL athletes get paid to play a
sport, but college athletes don t?
College athletes should not get paid to play a sport because they are playing for the
love of the game. Many athletes get scholarships or benefits to play a sport in the
first place which means that they don t need any more money. Sports should be a
reward for good grades and only players that really love the sport should play it.
Any athlete should just play the sport for fun and not money. It s way too difficult to
pay a college athlete because each athlete plays differently. The NCAA, an
organization dedicated to college athletes,
Jesse Owens s Role In American Society
A Race For All Races Segregation has always played a major role in the American
society, whether it be the places people eat or the music a person listens to. African
Americans have always been looked down upon in our culture. They were used for
work, as slaves, for white plantation owners. They have never been given a chance,
because whites never wanted them to be considered equal. This was all true, until
the world met Jesse Owens. Among other African Americans who fought for equal
rights, Owens made a major impact in the sports world. Owens fought for his
rights by running. Jesse Owens changed the way African Americans are treated in
the world of professional sports, by participating in the 1936 Olympics that took
place in Germany. Owens, born in Cleveland, grew up in a highly segregated area.

Waterfall And The Agile Model
The Waterfall and The Agile Model comparison
The waterfall model was legally introduced as an idea through a paper that had been
published by a man called Winston Royce in the year 1970. However, due to the
waterfall model being introduced by Winston Royce himself, it had been introduced
as an example of a flawed software development method, which was vulnerable due to
its shortcomings. The waterfall model philosophy had been inherited from the
hardware manufacture and construction strategies that had been in practice in the
year 1970s; therefore it had a structured approach to the software development
itself. In comparison to the agile methodology, which developed in the year 1990s
where the developers had decided to break away from the traditional structured,
segmented and administrative approaches, which were being made to the
developed software, and progressed towards more of the flexible development
styles. The term Agile can be referred to as being lightweight methods, which had
been declared in a research paper in the year 1974 by Edmonds. Furthermore, some
of the most noticeable and common agile methods of the software development that
subsequently had been evolved were known as Scum in the year 1995, Extreme
Programming in 1996, Adaptive Software Development , Dynamic Systems
Development Method in 1995 and Feature Driven Development . In the year 2001, a
team of developers in the agile software development had declared the agile
manifesto. The agile
A Research Report On The Workplace Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This report was commissioned to investigate and develop
a potential solution for the workplace matters in order to resolve the addressed issue
for the organisation so as to thrive the business. This paper provides the SWOT
analysis on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats during the time of
taking the professional experience in the Parkroyal Parramatta. The report draws close
attention to the 25 million dollar refurbishment project that makes impact on the
service delivery. It identified the issues that happened in Parkroyal with the
collections of information from colleagues, supervisors and managers in the hotel.
Using the theory learned from stage 1 and 3, I have come up with some
recommendation to resolve the issues and brought them to discuss with my
supervisors and have gained their insights of how those recommendations can affect
the business. After practicing the reflective research exercise, I found out that
mostly people are aware of the issues that I had addressed and was on the ways to
make it happen. Therefore, I believe the organisation can achieve what they aim to do
in the near future.
INTRODUCTION: The aim of this report is to investigate into a work related issue
and develop capable solutions that have not been applied into practice in the
workplace during the work placement. Which will includes:

Drug Addiction In Drug Courts
Research shows that as many as three fourths of all Georgia inmates have drug or
alcohol addiction. Should we continue to incarcerate these non violent offenders or
divert them away from the prison system and into special courts. I believe the drug
courts will be a good addition to our sentencing system because it will free up law
enforcement resources to fight violent crime. Georgia has been treating the symptoms
of addicted and mentally ill prisoners, criminal behavior, rather than treating the root
cause of those symptoms. As a result, spending on corrections has skyrocketed, with
corrections becoming the biggest driver in state budgets.
New laws allow flexibility in sentencing non violent drug offenders, and the

Essay On Ralph In Lord Of The Flies
Over the course of the novel, Ralph loses his leadership qualities, becomes less
confident, and becomes more sensitive which causes the boys to lose faith in him and
sparks tremendous violence.
During the earlier chapters of Lord of the Flies, Ralph proved to be a strong leader,
but this changes as the novel goes on. Ralph used to be an extremely powerful
individual, and did not let anyone or anything get in his way. At one point, when
things do not happen as Ralph had planned, he yells at the boys and says, I was
chief, and you were going to do what I said (70 71). Ralph did not like what was
happening, and clearly communicated that this was not what he wanted. In a way,
he punished the boys by yelling at them, and showed them that the actions they
took were not acceptable. This is a valued quality of a strong leader: being able to
show people the difference between right and wrong. As the novel continues on,
Ralph starts to change, and does not demonstrate the qualities of being an effective
leader. He becomes more of a follower, which leads the other boys to lose faith in
him. When the boys go hunting, mob mentality takes a hold of Ralph. He gets
caught up with the excitement and joins in on what the other boys are doing, even
though it goes strictly against what he values. Ralph is not acting the way a leader
should. This mob mentality was shown after the boys almost killed the pig, when
Ralph, carried away by a sudden thick excitement, grabbed Eric s spear and
The Meaning of Color in Art
What remains the significance of color in art? Could it be the disposition and
feelings it provokes to the viewer, the distinguishing factor in the meaning of a
piece? Maybe color is used in the association of simply shadow work, used only in
technical terms to create value and the curvature of a three dimensional illusion? Or
maybe the use of colorin artwork appears as simple as how one learned the use in
childhood, genderidentification: blue means male and pink means female. True,
artists select colors to produce a certain mood or atmosphere; to create space, light,
and shadow, however, in regards to the artist Cindy Sherman, color is used profoundly
in gender roles and symbolism. Representation and hidden meanings found within
artwork is not a new concept by far, artist have been using such method for centuries.
Nonetheless, the unique and slightly nightmarish way the contemporary artist Cindy
Sherman uses color in representational ways brings about a new light to a familiar
technique. Cindy Sherman, an American artist born in 1954, is extensively
acknowledged as one of the most prominent artist in contemporary art. During her
career, Sherman has extensively used the infinite surplus of images from movies and
television, the internet, magazines, as well as art history, to create a massive
collection of confrontational artwork. In many of her pieces she has discovered the
manufacture of contemporary identity as well as the significance of representation,

Why Is Hamlet s First Soliloquy
Shakespeare
The soliloquy implies that Hamlet was weighing up the benefits of both the options
of life or death. He considers that the continuation of life implies having to deal with
the constant struggles in his life. On the other hand, the option of death would imply
that would be the cause of eternal peace even though it was through suicide. The
soliloquy demonstrates the true character of Hamlet as portrayed in the text. For
instance, it shows that the melancholy that he feels is not an entire fabrication.
Rather, it shows that Hamlet is truthfully emotionally disturbed by the events that
occur in his life (Charney, 2014).
By portraying his contemplation, the soliloquy defines the utmost character of
Hamlet. More so, the soliloquy is

insufficient due to increasing number of physical connections which are
unauthorized to the company s network. so, as the previous network designers we
have to implement more security countermeasures which are helpful for the
present situation of the Intertrode company. 1.1. Network Enhancement
Requirements: As part of this, we have to implement the following security
measures to help remedy this issues: 1). Implement IP security to exclude a node
which is out of the domain to being contact with the server that is in the domain
network. But, if members of managerial group want to contact that node, they
should have access to that server. 2). Traffic to and from the server should be
encrypted using IP security. 3). Configure the windows advanced firewall to
restrict the TCP/UDP ports which are not used by the clients and servers by using
GPO. 4). Clients should have access to the cloud storage. By using Cloud Berry
third party application we have to configure local talos machine to AWS S3,
Amazon cloud storage service. 2. Domain and Server Isolation: Generally the ease
of access that allows users to access resources in the network whenever they want
from almost anywhere, at the same time it allows malicious programs such as viruses
and worms, and malicious users to attack computers or resources in the network with
that same ease.

AP Biology Lab Report: How the Amount of Motor Oil Affects Hatching Viability of
Brine Shrimp Eggs
Question
How does the amount of motor oil in the environment of a brine shrimp affect the
hatching viability of brine shrimp eggs?
Hypothesis
If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the
brine shrimp eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching
viability will decrease.
Experimental Design
The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it
is the variable that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent
variable was the hatching viability of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated
by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at 24 hours to the number of brine
shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number of eggs initially
placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml
of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be
controlled, were the salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt
solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the total time the brine shrimp were left in the
petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine shrimp were checked
(every 24 hours).
Procedure
Materials:
Approximately 100 brine shrimp eggs

Trajan In Dacia Research Paper
The elaborate triumph following Trajan s conquering of Dacia took place over the
course of two days. In the early morning, the procession started with musicians
leading the way through the porta triumphalis, located at the porta carmentalis
(Coarelli), singing ballads of Trajan s victory. This excited the crowd and readied
them for the procession, as well these ballads played a role in commemorating this
triumph for years to come.
After the musicians, the procession continued with the display of the captured
Dacian treasure. This procession included wagons of gold and silver taken from
Decebalus s treasure, hidden in the river Sargetia. As well, there were wagons and

In their tattered uniforms, they were a pathetic looking crowd. Trajan did ensure
although that these captives continue through the procession unchained. Trajan
wanted them to be unchained to show that their defeat to him was so consuming, that
they did not need chains on to stop them from attempting to escape, just the thought
of Trajan scared them into obeying.
As the army walked to the forum, the generals of the Dacian army, were brought
forward and executed in front of the crowd. These generals were chased down by the
jackals, brought from Dacia, which brought the Roman citizens immense satisfaction.
After the army passed, the Dacian elite and family of the ruler, Decebalus, shuffled
by. There were forced out of their regal wear into clothes fit for slaves. This was
done to show the complete lack of power left to the Dacian Citizens. To further the
dehumanization of the Dacians, the personal robes of Decebalus were carried on a
platform behind his family, along with his severed head decked with a diadem. This
was put in the triumph to mock the cowardice and memory of Decebalus.
Following the captives came trumpeters and oxen heavily ordained in jewels and
garland like no sacrifice had ever been before. In addition to the oxen, there was a
beautiful lynx taken from Dacia being led on a gold

Summary and Protagonist
Wall e was directed by Andrew stanton and was released June 23 2008. In this film
you meet a goofy little robot named Wall e. He lives on earth but not the version of
earth we live on today. This version of earth is infested with trash and no plant life.
Wall e was created as a trash collector and has been left to clean up the mess us
humans made.
Antagonist
The protagonist of Wall e is the autopilot, Auto of the spaceship in which humans
now live. He looks like the wheel of a ship with a red light in the middle. Him being
a machine, he is very controlling and organized. Among that, he is also very
intelligent as machines also are.

Language choice
In Wall e, robots do not speak a language yet you still know exactly what is going
on. Even though Wall e can not speak you can still tell that he loves Eve. This is just
one example of the fact that love has no boundaries.
Foreshadowing
Wall e foreshadowed what could happen if us humans do not step up our game. It
shows a representation of what our world could become if we do not start caring for
our environment before we run out of time. It also shows where we could go if we
don t detach from technology and if we let it take over our lives.
Scenes that stand out
One of the scenes from Wall e is the scene where it gives us an aerial view of what
the planet earth had come to look like. All you see is trash everywhere with no life
to be seen. Another scene that stands out to me is when we first see the humans
aboard the ship. It just disgusts me how self absorbed and unattached they are
from the world. I would not want to live a life like that. The last scene that comes
to mind when i think of this film is when Wall e is holding hands with Eve. I know
I said that love is like a deep dark hole but this scene really touches me because even
though they were robots they still found love in each
Spotlight Reflection
Recently in Journalism class, we watched the movie titled Spotlight which was
based on the story of the 87 priest molestation cases that occurred in Boston alone.
This movie followed a team of Journalists, the Spotlight Team, who worked for the
Boston Globe. This team tracked down 87 molester priests and cultivated a story to
bring attention to the issue. While there were a lot of important concepts highlighted
in this movie, the three main concepts of the film were on why this issue has been
happening for such an exaggerated period of time, preposterous events can occur in
the most unexpected places and that vulnerable people are effortlessly taken
advantage of. The world let these incidents go on for too long. For years, the priests
not just in these Boston churches, but around the globe had been performing
inappropriate acts on powerless children in their churches. It was even made known
that these churches were fully aware of these events and masked the truth from their
communities. The church essentially wanted so desperately to believe that it was a
minor flaw in the system. In reality, it was happening in an exuberant amount of
religious areas. It is partially based on the statement that no one wants to cuff a priest
because they feel that in a way, it would make them look atrocious.
To keep muted on these events, people were put under restraint by their own family
and friends. They were told not to speak out about their molestation cases. The belief

Colonism In Europe
It is evident that in 16th century Europe there existed both the motivation and the
means to explore and colonize territory across the seas. As it can be said, With the
dawn of the 16th century, there came together in Europe both the motivation and the
means to explore and colonize territory across the seas. This statement is true to a
large extent, especially in the areas of trade and technology. The physical means to
explore and colonize came from the advances in technology that the Europeans had
gone through, allowing them to sail far across the oceans and take over native
populations easily. The motivation, on the other hand, came from trade related
reasons, such as the desire to trade new resources, to find gold, and to find new trade
routes. Without the technology or trade at the dawn of the 16th century, there would
not have been the means nor the motivation for Europeans to explore and colonize
the New World. First, the Europeans had the means to explore and colonize the New
World mainly because of their advances in technology. As Schweikart put it, a wide
range of technologies coalesced to encourage long range voyages of discovery. For
example, the Arabs development of the astrolabe helped sailors establish the sun s
altitude above the horizon. Vikings farther north introduced new methods of hull
construction, allowing vessels to withstand violent ocean storms. Sailors on the
Baltic coast tinkered with larger and more controlled ship designs. Improved ships
Escitalopram Research Paper
Escitalopram Lexapro is a widely prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor
that is used in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Lexapro is also known by
its generic name of escitalopram or s citalopram. History Escitalopram is an
enantiomer of a drug called citalopram. Citalopram was discovered in 1977 and is a
highly powerful and selective serotonin inhibitor. Citalopram has a chiral center due
to its central atom being surrounded by two non matching arrangements of atoms.
These surrounding atoms are called enantiomers and are classified as either r
enantiomers or s enantiomers (Schatzberg Nemeroff, 2013). It was discovered that
many of the positive properties about the drug lie in the s enantiomer, which is 30
times more potent than the r enantiomer (Braestrup Sanchez, 2004). Scientists
removed the r enantiomer, and s citalopram or escitalopram was created. Some
studies have shown that escitalopram may be more effective than citalopram due to
the inhibitory effects of histamine of the r enantiomer (Cipriani, et al., 2012).
Escitalopram was discovered in 1997 and submitted to the Food and Drug
Administration for approval in the United States of America in 2001. It was
approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder in 2002 and for the

THERAPEUTIC JURISPRUDENCE AND THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY
JUSTICE (UCMJ)
Lorna Kennedy*
I.INTRODUCTION
In recent years scholars, throughout the legal and educational domain, have
considered a vast range of topics through a Therapeutic Jurisprudence (TJ) lens, to
include, the characteristics of mental disability law, family law, criminal law and
criminal procedure, employment law, gay rights law, and tort law. But, nowhere has
there been a comprehensive plea for therapeutic jurisprudence within the military.
Until recently, little was written about the need for TJ within the military justice
system or within the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Indeed, literature is
sparse beyond the call for TJ in cases involving PTSD. For example, of the few law
articles written suggesting reform within the UCMJ is one article calling for TJ
involving a soldier who suffered from PTSD. The soldier, unrepresented by counsel
was chaptered out of the military but not before being demoted, reductions in pay,
assigned extra duty and restricted to quarters. This type of punishment is standard
operating procedure in the military. To those of us who have served in the military
this punishment is the norm.
Despite recent calls for constitutional protections in a military court of law, a soldier
continues to be barred from many due process privileges enjoyed in civilian courts.
The soldier is stripped of dignity by public reduction in rank, status and removal from

Analyzing the Fiscal Budget of the City of Ukiah and...
Introduction
This paper will analyse the 2013/14 Fiscal budgets the City of Ukiah and California
City. I will attempt to examine the similarities and differences of both these cites
revenue and expenditure line items in their budgets. The cities are similar in that they
generate revenue from many of the same resources and they have similar
expenditures in their annual fiscal budget. However, the cities budgets strategies are
different because both these cities demographics, social, economic, political platform,
and historical characteristics guide both cities elected official s decisions during the
budget process.
History
California City was incorporated on December 8, 1965 (City of California, 2013).
Before the City was incorporated, it was transformed from a vast area of natural
desert and farmland open space, into a new kind of living environment. In 1776, the
first explorers in the City of California were Paiute Indians under leadership of Father
Francisco Grarces. During this time, the Conquistadores are believed to have hired
Paiute Indians to help conduct mining operations in the territory.
At the end of the century, sheep farming began at the Conklin Ranch, and today, this
ranch is located in the central portion of the City. Later, in the 1900s, the city was
ineffective in its attempt to manufacture cotton and grow alfalfa. In 1958, private
land development activities begun when a group of developers started purchasing
land in the eastern portion of the city. By the

wearing hand protection, while another 30 aren t wearing the right gloves (17). A
glove from one firm may not have the same chemical resistance as a glove that
appears to be an identical glove made by another firm (12). There are many
variations of gloves available today to protect from hazards, however nature of
hazard and the operation will have an impact on the selection of the gloves (10).
OSHA s hand protection guideline indicates some factors that impact the selection
of protective gloves used in a workplace: types of chemicals handled, nature and
duration of contact, area requiring protection (hand only, forearm, arm), grip
requirements, thermal protection, size and comfort and abrasion/resistance
requirements (10). In some instances, companies tend to adapt a technique called
double gloving which is the overlapping of two pairs of gloves, one over the other
(12). When worn, it affords a double layer of protection (12). If the outer glove starts
to degrade or tears open, the inner glove continues to offer protection until the gloves
are removed and replaced (12). This technique isn t the most optimal however
provides additional protection to the pair of gloves underneath. The
Human Suffering And Media Analysis
In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform
where the encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where
the public becomes aware of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far
away from their immediate locale (Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have
expanded the field of view of the spectator, the mediated encounter with the distant
sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993) between the scene of
suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. This
paradox has raised a number of moral and ethical considerations. The question at the
heart of the debate is to what extent the new visibility of the other can in fact... Show

Taking a normative standpoint, Silverstone maintains that the media should function
as a public space that works for the human condition and not against it (2007: 33), a
moral space that promotes the inclusion and care of the other. This cosmopolitan
disposition towards the other, especially in the context of distant suffering, can then
become the foundation of transnational solidarity and of the pursuit of justice overall
(Silverstone, 2007). Silverstone advocates for the media to adopt specific
representational principles that foster this sort of cosmopolitan engagement. In
particular, he proposes the notion of proper distance , a theoretical principle that
captures the dialectical coexistence between the common humanity of the other and
his irreducible difference (Silverstone, 2007). Proper distance , in other words,
identifies the degree of proximity that presents the other as other with humanity
(Chouliaraki and Orgad, 2011); who deserves the dignity that is to be accorded to all
humans but is also unique and implicated in specific geopolitical
Describe The Similarities And Differences Between The...
According to Niall Ferguson, westerners make up about 19% of the world s
population, but have 66% of the world s wealth. The reason why westerners, or
Europeans, are so wealthy today is because of European cities. Western European
cities during the time period of 1000 1500 CE had distinct cultural developments
which allowed Europeto later conquer world trade. Other global civilizations, such
as Mongol China and medieval Cairo, were similar and different from medieval
Europe culturally. These civilizations were similar in the fact that both Europe and
China had urban growth in cities; both Europeans and the Muslims of Cairo were
able to live in a society with no rigid rules. These civilizations differed from Europe
as well: European towns were autonomous, while the citizens of both China and
Cairo were ruled by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the differences they share culturally, there are differences between
Europe and both China and Cairo economically. For example, in European towns,
capitalism was practiced. Because there was no formal government dominating in
Europe, capitalism allowed merchants to do as they wished without the
government s permission. This contrasts with China and Cairo, as in these
civilizations, socialism was exercised. Because of socialism, the merchants of
China and Cairo had to have the government s approval before they were able to
make any decisions. This is just one of the many differences between these global
civilizations. Because Europe was different than the other global civilizations, such
as Cairo and China, it was able to advance and later, dominate world trade. Europe
today is one of the most wealthiest places in the world (they have 66% of the world
s wealth, according to Ferguson). They were able to achieve such power and wealth
because of the way European towns were
Hezbollah Research Paper
How was Hezbollah changed from being a national resistant to being internationally
recognized terrorist organization?
After the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in June 1982 knowingly some young Muslims
belonging Islamic committees and the movement of Amal to confront the Israeli
occupation in cooperation with the Palestinian organizations and the Syrian army, but
there was not an Islamic framework uniform, and a dispute within the movement
Amal about participating in Rescue Authority. On February 16, 1985 on the occasion
of the first of the death anniversary of Sheikh Harb as with the start of the Israeli
withdrawal from a large part of southern Lebanon, at then there was the
announcement of Hezbollah organization which at first the primary duty is to resist
Israel and no more than that. The form of this announcement included the open letter

Then after that everything changed and Hezbollah had made a huge army that is till
today stronger, more organized as well as having technological weapons more than
the Lebanese army. Hezbollah has made a strong allies with Iran in the face of all
international and Arab countries as well as entering the recent war in Syria and
killing innocents which become a well known terrorism organization globally.
Hezbollah s activities is encouraging youth and implanting the extremism in their
thoughts. This has led The Arab League to announce and classify this terrorism
organization named as Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and to be fought in all
Arab and world countries. In the meantime, the Arab Interior Ministers described
Hezbollah as a terrorist, and accused him and Iran of seeking to destabilize the Arab

Interpretive And Critical Approach Of Accounting
Using positive approach for describing and predicting accounting practice, and
consequently, developing the accounting theory, has led to sufficient support for
accounting information. In fact most of empirical accounting research has shown
that accounting numbers and figures can lead to changes in the capital market
features. This creates a lot of sensitivity towards accounting information. In most
countries, the funds necessary for the activities of the financial accounting standard
board are provided by the representatives in the parliament. If accounting standards
endanger the wealth of these representatives, the budget of the board will be limited
and consequently the wealth of the members of the board will be at risk. Accordingly,
accounting enters a realm of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These researchers want to use interpretive and critical approaches for a more
comprehensive understanding of accounting effects. The starting point of interpretive
and critical research is the imagination that social issues such as management
accounting are not natural phenomenon and have social structure. Interpretive
approach addresses the understanding of social world and includes activities that are
done with the aim of understanding the social nature of accounting procedures
(Roslander, 2006). Generally, the research based on this approach try to interpret the
concept of human structures. The critical accounting approach is the point that it
challenges the process of formation of traditional and technical cases in accounting
and considers this process in social milieu as having the capacity of being criticized.
Nowadays, critical research can be a path for discovering and leading accounting
researchers towards developing accounting theory and direct evaluation of accounting
Ethical Dilemmas In Civil Action
A Civil Action is about an environmental pollution court case in Woburn,
Massachusetts. The case focused on an industrial solvent, trichloroethylene, from a
local leather company, which contaminated a local aquifer that eventually had lethal
consequences on the inhabitants of the town. After Anne Anderson s son dies of
leukemia, she filed a civil lawsuit along with eight other families against The John J.
Riley Tannery by Beatrice Foods and Cryovac Manufacturing W. R. Grace Company
because their industrial operations correlated to fatal cases of cancer and leukemia in
children as well as other health issues reported among the citizens. Anne implored Jan
Schlichtmann, a tenacious personal injury specialist, to take the case. When

The main ethical dilemma encountered occurs because two major companies,
Woburn, W.R. Grace and J Riley Leather, were responsible for polluting Woburn s
drinking water through the negligent dumping of carcinogenic solvents. This
negligence is further compounded by the fact that the companies blatantly knew that
their actions were polluting the local drinking water with trichloroethylene, a labeled
carcinogenic. Furthermore, the companies made no attempt to clean or contain the
hazardous waste, and the companies systematically hide their conspiracy. Their
actions can be justified through the utilitarian ethical theory. Utilitarianism is a
normative theory that focuses the moral correctness of an action on the consequence
rather than the action itself. Additionally, this view is based on the hedonistic view
that humans naturally seek pleasure and avoid pain. In regards to the companies in
the film, they dumped toxic waste into the water supply to save time and expenses
that would otherwise be utilized to hire a company to clean up the toxins. In their
perspective, they avoided the pain of extra expenses and sought the pleasure involved
in saving the money for personal

Social Policy Essays

  • 1. Social Policy Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Social Policy Essays" can be quite challenging due to the multifaceted nature of the topic. Social policy encompasses a wide range of issues, including but not limited to welfare, healthcare, education, and employment. As a result, delving into the complexities of social policies requires a thorough understanding of various governmental systems, societal structures, and the impact of policies on diverse communities. One of the difficulties lies in the extensive research required to comprehend the historical context, evolving trends, and the current state of social policies. This involves digging into academic journals, policy papers, and statistical data to gain a comprehensive perspective. Additionally, the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information is crucial to formulating a coherent argument. Moreover, navigating through the ethical considerations surrounding social policies can pose a challenge. Issues such as equality, justice, and the balance between individual rights and societal interests require thoughtful reflection and nuanced exploration. Another aspect that adds complexity is the ever-changing nature of social policies. Governments regularly update and amend policies in response to societal needs, economic shifts, and political ideologies. Staying abreast of these changes is essential to provide a well-informed and up-to- date analysis. The writing process itself demands clarity, precision, and effective communication of ideas. Balancing a deep dive into the details with maintaining an overarching view of the subject can be demanding. Ensuring that the essay is not just informative but also engaging for the reader requires skillful articulation. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Social Policy Essays" involves grappling with a vast and intricate subject matter, conducting thorough research, navigating ethical considerations, staying updated on evolving policies, and effectively communicating complex ideas. It's a task that demands not only writing proficiency but also a keen understanding of social, political, and economic dynamics. For those finding this task daunting, seeking assistance from professional writing services can provide valuable support. (At this point, without mentioning the topic explicitly, I would like to note that similar essays and more comprehensive assistance can be sought through services likeHelpWriting.net.) Essay on 3 Key Aspects of the Anaesthetic Nurse Role An in depth analysis of three key aspects of the anaesthetic nurse role The relationship between the perioperative nurse and the patient has suffered a long process of mutation throughout the last decades. If before all the dynamics experienced within an operating theatre were based upon organizational and logistical aspects, these days the focus lies on the patient and all the comfort and security demanded throughout a process that already reveals itself aggressive for the patient. Being the front line person in this dynamic, the anaesthetic nurse plays a crucial and intense role on the patient s experience. An anaesthetic nurse is knowledgeable and technically skilled. In addition, Lingard and colleagues have studied and supported the idea of preoperative checklist and team briefings to prevent or decrease communication failures (Lingard et al. 2008). In fact, the World Health Organization has standardised a surgical safety list (appendix 1) that through effective communication ensures the right patient, right procedure and the necessary steps/actions are guaranteed (World Health Organization 2008). On the other hand, although a team briefing is not a requirement it enhances communication and teamwork and highlights possible issues that can be dealt more effectively if all the team members are aware and help (for example sharing with the team members an anticipated difficult intubation). Situation Awareness Situation awareness has been explained as a three stage process: perception, comprehension and projection (Endsley 2012). According to Endsley, situation awareness begins by perceiving the elements of the environment (Level 1) after which an integration and understanding of those elements (Level 2) will then generate a prediction of near future events (Level 3). Situation awareness is one of the non technical skills that were first acknowledged

In chapters 3 5 of Billy Budd, Sailor Melville gives the reader an overview of two mutinies that occurred in Europe in 1797. One known as the Spithead occurred in April of that year. The other, known as The Great Mutiny, occurred at the Nore, a sand bank in the Mediterranean Sea, in July of the same year (17). Melville s description of these events provides historical context within the story that convince the reader that they occurred. Melville incorporates Billy Budd into the issue of mutiny when Billy finds himself approached by another sailor. This sailor begins to relate to Billy by stating his own impressment and suggests a potential riot when he says Couldn t you help at a pinch? (Melville 58) The fellow seaman continues his endeavor to involve Billy by throwing in bribery; however, Billy quickly impedes this notion by threatening to throw the seaman overboard. Melville makes evidence for this when Billy says If you d don t start, I ll t t toss you back over the rail ( 58). As one can see, the issue of mutiny never actually surfaced in spite of the fact that Billy Budd eventually became the alleged insurgent of the idea of mutiny. In spite of the fact that Billy initially conceived no notion of

Following this, deductive reasoning was used to determine the identity of two unknown solutions, based off of how they reacted with the six standard compounds. In order to set up the experiment, firstly each of the six compounds were poured onto six makeshift wells on a mirrored sheet, with each well containing two drops of a single compound. The original color of each compound was recorded. After this, two more drops of the compounds were added to the individual wells so that each well would contain a unique combination of two compounds. Once this was completed, it was determined which solutions had reacted by whether or not a precipitate formed in the solution. If a precipitate had formed, the new color of the solution was recorded. Because the first unknown s cation formed a precipitate with the OH from NaOH, the cation cannot be Barium, as BaOH is a soluble compound. However, it formed no precipitate with either Cu(NO3)2 or , Co(NO3)2, which means the cation is either copper or lead. Because the unknown formed a precipitate with BaCl2, and Barium can only form an insoluble compound with sulfate, the anion of the compound must be SO42. • 13. Art Vs Visual Art Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its

The filtrate is the liquid that passes through the funnel during filtration. In this experiment, the saltwater solution is the filtrate. The solution remaining in the beaker will then be heated over a Bunsen burner. As the solution is being heated, the water in the saltwater solution will evaporate off until only the salt is remaining in the beaker. Evaporation is a process where a soluble solid is separated from a liquid. The lab ends with the sand on the filter paper, and the salt remaining in the beaker. In order to successfully reach the objective of the lab, the amount of each substance that is being separated must stay consistent from start to finish. The amount of each substance before it is added to the mixture and after it has been separated needs to be recorded so that comparison and analysis will be correct. All of the data will be used to calculate the percent recovery of the sand and the salt. To find percent recovery, the following equation used will be: % Recovery = Amount of the substance recovered Original amount of the substance x 100 The answer will then show if separating the mixture was successful, and in turn completing the lab and objective. When we are reading, many of us don t actually stop to think about the meaning of each word (unless the word is unfamiliar), instead we just assume what it means we read automatically. Looking at the poem, To A Poor Old Woman by William Carlos Williams, we see the Shklovsky s concept of defamiliarization in use. When we look at Shklovsky s concept, The technique of art is to make objects unfamiliar to make forms difficult, to increase the difficulty and length of perception because the process of perception is an aesthetic end in itself and must be prolonged (Rivkin and Ryan 9). Using this same concept, looking at the first stanzaof To a Poor Old Woman, we see the way that the stanza was structured in a way to make it unfamiliar. The author splits the sentences up where they normally wouldn t be split up, so that gives that sense of unfamiliarity, so we begin to questionwhat the words actually mean. If a person attempts to read it as a normal sentence, we would see that someone is eating a plum, the street is a paper bag, and something is in her hand. The reason I believe the lines are broken up in a weird way is because it s trying to give that sense of unfamiliarity to get an audience to focus on what this stanza is really trying to say. Looking at the second stance, we see the repetition of They taste good to her written in different forms. This repetition gives an unfamiliar sense because each time it repeats, it gives off

It will then go on to consider the benefits of Skinners way of seeing psychology and thus how he was able to turn psychology into a science with measurable outcomes and bring evidence into a subject that had become subjective and unquantifiable. Purpose of Psychology Skinner stated that the purpose of psychology should be the study of behaviour. He had come to this conclusion whilst performing studies on rats. (Skinner, 1938). Mentatlistic approach Prior to skinner the pervading view of behaviour within psychology was concerned with thoughts and inner feelings that were thought to directly cause behaviour.(Cooper, Heron, Heward, 2007) Skinner thought that the study of psychology had remained unchanged for centauries and that the subject had made virtually no progress.(Skinner, 1973) He believed that behaviour should be studied in a scientific way rather than an introspective way. Natural Science Behaviour Psychology or Biology D M (1) (Blackman, 1991) puts the case forward that the study of behaviour should come under the subject of biology rather than psychology on the grounds that behaviour occurs naturally when consequences are applied. Skinner had said a similar thing himself in (1963) when he considered the choice of the placement of behaviour in the scheme of things. He said that if the mind was going to be the subject

  • 21. Domination And Inequalities In The Apartment By Jean Baker... The Apartment Power determines everything, how someone is defined, how someone acts, and someone is. In Domination and Subordination by Jean Baker Miller, she shows both sides of inequality, a dominate and a subordinate. There are two types inequality, temporary and permanent. The film, The Apartment by Billy Wilder, starts off with a man, C.C.Baxter who is constantly allowing people to use his apartment for their own personal pleasures. Baxter gives in to his co workers at the office to use his apartment and often risking his basic needs for survival, like sleep. Mr. Sheldrake, Baxter s boss, has the authority to treat others how he wants to. Fran Kubelik, the elevator woman, Baxter and Sheldrake use everyday at work. Miss Kubelik tends to have a undercover relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. These characters relationships of temporary or permanent inequality define their dominant or subordinate behaviors. Baxter and Sheldrake have a relationship of temporary inequalities. During the film, C.C Baxter continuously goes through problems with his office buddies constantly needing his apartment. Baxter believes no matter what he does or says with Mr. Sheldrake it will not be taken into consideration. Just following doctors orders, I ve decided to become a mensch , Mr. Sheldrake that means being a human and Baxter finally took charge (Apartment). Baxter s relationship to Mr. Sheldrake is a temporary inequality situation due to him constantly taking orders from others. Miller s document claims that dominants rely on Subordinates; lack of skill, knowledge etc... In Baxters position he is always giving in to people s needs. But the most basic difference is the one between men and women and Baxter acts like a woman in his relationship with Mr. Sheldrake. When Baxter and Sheldrake are talking about Baxter s promotion he gave him a slight threat for his job. The dominant, Sheldrake understands that power and him acting as a dominating man forces Baxter to behave as a subordinate and take his orders. A similar relationship to Baxter and sheldrake is Miss Kubelik and Sheldrake. Kubelik and Sheldrake are in a state of permanent inequality. Miss Kubelik has a undercover, not very solid relationship with Mr. Sheldrake

The term oppression encapsulates the fusion of institutional and systemic discrimination, personal bias, bigotry, and social prejudice in a complex web of relationships and structures that shade most aspects of life in our society (Bell, 1997). In one way or another every individual experiences some form of oppression, whether it be through race, sex, gender, religion, age, wealth and/or sexual orientation. The ongoing battle(s) of women s rights suggests that the silence of oppression is of the past and the future holds equality for all alike. ...power is the capacity to terrorize, to use self and strength to inculcate fear, fear in a whole class of persons (Dworkin, 1981). Male dominance exhibits and practices fear toward those of different classes, its use is to gain power to which control is given. The male mind indicates that without a penis an authority of power is dismissed and overlooked. Unfortunate for society today male hierarchy continues to be the dominant practice and the penis is a visual and vital form of power. Male sexual power is the substance of culture (Dworkin, 1981). Although women have come a long way their oppression and limited amount of power in society has yet to be broken and adjusted because of this visual of the male penis extracting power in society. • 23. The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion seems to not quite follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the original unpublished conclusion to this book, Anne retains her standard silence that is her signature characteristic. However, with a modest amount of studying one will find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her character s progression through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards comfort in speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the silent character, leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak more and more. Due to this we are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking so much. More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point? Throughout this book we are given enough information to see that Anne speaks much less in comparison to all the other characters, however we are never given anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation that we find in Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne. (Austen, 1817) This seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as much, knowing that they would always get automatically shut down for being considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne s own family to treat her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this though is that in the very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed, though he had no affection for Anne, and no vanity flattered, to make him really happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad match for her. It is clearly stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter Anne. This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her reason for silence. The next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of Anne. We see in the last
  • 24. Ballet During The Russo-American Era Dance is found in all cultures. It is considered a way to communicate without talking. During the Renaissance period, ballet was considered a Russian specialty. The highly qualified and sought after dance companies would tour the world performing in front of those who had never experienced ballet before. By exposing ballet to the United States of America, the Russians inspired and sparked a demand for legitimate ballet in America. It took place throughout the 20th century, currently known as the Russo American Era. During the Russo American Era, Russian choreographers, such as, Michel Fokine, Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, LГ©onide Massine, and Bronislava Nijinska; benefited from the American audience and started to make dramatic changes to the classical ballet. Every single one of these choreographers implemented and transformed the way people view, danced and perceived ballet in the early 20th century. Several ideas for these innovations were from Michel Fokine. In 1914, he wrote a letter to the London Times, stating the five principles of ballet that befitted the 20th century ballet: 1.Each dance should use new forms of movement suitable to its subject and period. 2.Dance and mime should be used to express dramatic action. 3.Mime should be used only when the ballet s style dictates it, in other cases the dancer s whole body, not only the hands, should be used to communicate. 4.The corps de ballet should be used for plot development and as a means of expression. 5.

Many athletes get scholarships or benefits to play a sport in the first place which means that they don t need any more money. African Americans have always been looked down upon in our culture. They were used for work, as slaves, for white plantation owners. They have never been given a chance, because whites never wanted them to be considered equal. This was all true, until the world met Jesse Owens. Waterfall And The Agile Model The Waterfall and The Agile Model comparison The waterfall model was legally introduced as an idea through a paper that had been published by a man called Winston Royce in the year 1970. However, due to the waterfall model being introduced by Winston Royce himself, it had been introduced as an example of a flawed software development method, which was vulnerable due to its shortcomings. The waterfall model philosophy had been inherited from the hardware manufacture and construction strategies that had been in practice in the year 1970s; therefore it had a structured approach to the software development itself. In comparison to the agile methodology, which developed in the year 1990s where the developers had decided to break away from the traditional structured, segmented and administrative approaches, which were being made to the developed software, and progressed towards more of the flexible development styles. Essay On Ralph In Lord Of The Flies Over the course of the novel, Ralph loses his leadership qualities, becomes less confident, and becomes more sensitive which causes the boys to lose faith in him and sparks tremendous violence. During the earlier chapters of Lord of the Flies, Ralph proved to be a strong leader, but this changes as the novel goes on. Ralph used to be an extremely powerful individual, and did not let anyone or anything get in his way. At one point, when things do not happen as Ralph had planned, he yells at the boys and says, I was chief, and you were going to do what I said (70 71). Ralph did not like what was happening, and clearly communicated that this was not what he wanted. In a way, he punished the boys by yelling at them, and showed them that the actions they took were not acceptable. This is a valued quality of a strong leader: being able to show people the difference between right and wrong. As the novel continues on, Ralph starts to change, and does not demonstrate the qualities of being an effective leader. He becomes more of a follower, which leads the other boys to lose faith in him. When the boys go hunting, mob mentality takes a hold of Ralph. He gets caught up with the excitement and joins in on what the other boys are doing, even though it goes strictly against what he values. Ralph is not acting the way a leader should. This mob mentality was shown after the boys almost killed the pig, when Ralph, carried away by a sudden thick excitement, grabbed Eric s spear and

Could it be the disposition and feelings it provokes to the viewer, the distinguishing factor in the meaning of a piece? Maybe color is used in the association of simply shadow work, used only in technical terms to create value and the curvature of a three dimensional illusion? Or maybe the use of colorin artwork appears as simple as how one learned the use in childhood, genderidentification: blue means male and pink means female. True, artists select colors to produce a certain mood or atmosphere; to create space, light, and shadow, however, in regards to the artist Cindy Sherman, color is used profoundly in gender roles and symbolism. Representation and hidden meanings found within artwork is not a new concept by far, artist have been using such method for centuries. Network Enhancement Requirements: As part of this, we have to implement the following security measures to help remedy this issues: 1). Implement IP security to exclude a node which is out of the domain to being contact with the server that is in the domain network. But, if members of managerial group want to contact that node, they should have access to that server. 2). Traffic to and from the server should be encrypted using IP security. 3). Configure the windows advanced firewall to restrict the TCP/UDP ports which are not used by the clients and servers by using GPO. 4). Clients should have access to the cloud storage. By using Cloud Berry third party application we have to configure local talos machine to AWS S3, Amazon cloud storage service. 2. AP Biology Lab Report: How the Amount of Motor Oil Affects Hatching Viability of Brine Shrimp Eggs Question How does the amount of motor oil in the environment of a brine shrimp affect the hatching viability of brine shrimp eggs? Hypothesis If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the brine shrimp eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching viability will decrease. Experimental Design The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it is the variable that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent variable was the hatching viability of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at 24 hours to the number of brine shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number of eggs initially placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be controlled, were the salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the total time the brine shrimp were left in the petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine shrimp were checked (every 24 hours). This movie followed a team of Journalists, the Spotlight Team, who worked for the Boston Globe. This team tracked down 87 molester priests and cultivated a story to bring attention to the issue. While there were a lot of important concepts highlighted in this movie, the three main concepts of the film were on why this issue has been happening for such an exaggerated period of time, preposterous events can occur in the most unexpected places and that vulnerable people are effortlessly taken advantage of. The world let these incidents go on for too long. For years, the priests not just in these Boston churches, but around the globe had been performing inappropriate acts on powerless children in their churches. It was even made known that these churches were fully aware of these events and masked the truth from their communities. The church essentially wanted so desperately to believe that it was a minor flaw in the system. In reality, it was happening in an exuberant amount of religious areas. It is partially based on the statement that no one wants to cuff a priest because they feel that in a way, it would make them look atrocious. To keep muted on these events, people were put under restraint by their own family and friends. They were told not to speak out about their molestation cases. The belief in the

As it can be said, With the dawn of the 16th century, there came together in Europe both the motivation and the means to explore and colonize territory across the seas. This statement is true to a large extent, especially in the areas of trade and technology. The physical means to explore and colonize came from the advances in technology that the Europeans had gone through, allowing them to sail far across the oceans and take over native populations easily. The motivation, on the other hand, came from trade related reasons, such as the desire to trade new resources, to find gold, and to find new trade routes. Without the technology or trade at the dawn of the 16th century, there would not have been the means nor the motivation for Europeans to explore and colonize the New World. First, the Europeans had the means to explore and colonize the New World mainly because of their advances in technology. As Schweikart put it, a wide range of technologies coalesced to encourage long range voyages of discovery. For example, the Arabs development of the astrolabe helped sailors establish the sun s altitude above the horizon. Vikings farther north introduced new methods of hull construction, allowing vessels to withstand violent ocean storms. Sailors on the Baltic coast tinkered with larger and more controlled ship designs. Improved ships

Lexapro is also known by its generic name of escitalopram or s citalopram. History Escitalopram is an enantiomer of a drug called citalopram. Citalopram was discovered in 1977 and is a highly powerful and selective serotonin inhibitor. Citalopram has a chiral center due to its central atom being surrounded by two non matching arrangements of atoms. These surrounding atoms are called enantiomers and are classified as either r enantiomers or s enantiomers (Schatzberg Nemeroff, 2013). It was discovered that many of the positive properties about the drug lie in the s enantiomer, which is 30 times more potent than the r enantiomer (Braestrup Sanchez, 2004). Scientists removed the r enantiomer, and s citalopram or escitalopram was created. Some studies have shown that escitalopram may be more effective than citalopram due to the inhibitory effects of histamine of the r enantiomer (Cipriani, et al., 2012). Human Suffering And Media Analysis In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform where the encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where the public becomes aware of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far away from their immediate locale (Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have expanded the field of view of the spectator, the mediated encounter with the distant sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993) between the scene of suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. This paradox has raised a number of moral and ethical considerations. The question at the heart of the debate is to what extent the new visibility of the other can in fact... This cosmopolitan disposition towards the other, especially in the context of distant suffering, can then become the foundation of transnational solidarity and of the pursuit of justice overall (Silverstone, 2007). Silverstone advocates for the media to adopt specific representational principles that foster this sort of cosmopolitan engagement. In particular, he proposes the notion of proper distance , a theoretical principle that captures the dialectical coexistence between the common humanity of the other and his irreducible difference (Silverstone, 2007). Proper distance , in other words, identifies the degree of proximity that presents the other as other with humanity (Chouliaraki and Orgad, 2011); who deserves the dignity that is to be accorded to all humans but is also unique and implicated in specific geopolitical
