Essays On Cars
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays On Cars" can be both challenging and intriguing. On
one hand, cars are a ubiquitous part of modern life, and there is a vast amount of information
available on various aspects such as history, technology, environmental impact, and societal
implications. On the other hand, the sheer breadth of the topic can make it daunting to narrow
down and focus on specific aspects.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between technical details and broader societal
perspectives. If the essay leans too heavily on technical aspects, it may alienate readers who are
not familiar with automotive engineering. Conversely, focusing solely on societal aspects might
oversimplify the complexity of the subject.
Moreover, keeping the essay engaging and avoiding a dry recitation of facts is crucial. Injecting a
personal touch, anecdotes, or exploring controversial viewpoints can make the essay more
captivating. Crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is another task, as they should
frame the essay's content effectively and leave a lasting impression.
Researching for up-to-date and credible sources is a time-consuming aspect. The automotive
industry is constantly evolving with technological advancements, environmental concerns, and
shifting consumer preferences. Staying current with the latest information is vital to produce an
essay that reflects the contemporary landscape.
In summary, while the topic "Essays On Cars" offers a broad canvas to explore, navigating the
nuances of technical details, societal impact, and maintaining reader engagement can make
writing such an essay a challenging yet rewarding endeavor.

Jack The Ripper Case
With the passage of time, the list of possible suspects has grown to nearly a
hundred people, with about a dozen serious candidates accused of being Jack the
Ripper. It seems that the professionals working on the case back in 1888 were
never able to attach enough physical evidence to build a case leading to the arrest of
the abhorrent murderer. Along with lack of physical evidence, eyewitness reports
proved inconclusive. In Richard Jones website Jack the Ripper1888, he also provides
a PDF file of the critical and still circulated memorandum written by the Assistant
Chief Constable for the CID in 1894 by Sir Melville MacNaghten naming the three
prime suspects as Mr. M. J. Druitt, Aaron Kosminski, and Michael Ostrog. (Jones) In

Parasailing Short Story
Parasailing Sailing over a hundred feet above blue waters sounds incredible, right?
Well, I have it was honestly the most terrifying and thrilling thing I have ever done.
I got onto the ship to get to the bigger bout and thoughts started to creep into my
head like a shark was going to attack me, or I was going to drown. My heart was
beating at least 200 beats per second. Too start off this great story, I got up in the
morning of a sunny and bright day at the beach. I was at my Aunt Lorraine s and she
was like Shadee, do you want to do something crazy.
So, I said Yes, of course, I would love to! Before we went to find something too do
we went and got breakfast, and picked up my grandmother. Meanwhile sitting at the
beach, we saw this yellow banana looking raft going across the ocean. I asked, What
the heck is that. They replied, I have no idea. As my Grammy Kim got up, we all
got up. My Aunt Rainy asked, Where are you going. Kim said, To see where those
boats are taking them. While, we walking we found out the yellow raft is called a
banana boat. Which was extremely ironic. We laugh for at least ten minutes. It was
so hilarious. The banana boat was taking people to a bigger boat called the Captain. I
said, Can we go parasailing or just ride the Banana Boat? As a man started walking
up to us he said, Hi, my name is Seth. I work for the Banana Boat and parasailing
company. Are you guy interested in riding any of
Understanding the Concept of Citizenship
Citizenship is a broad term in which has been changed and morphed into a general
ideal of a person s belonging to certain state. Although throughout history
citizenship has preserved a sturdy ethical link to justice, liberty and democracy.
This debate is formed around the ideas of what a person bearing should be in
society. Aristotle describes the citizen as One who has a share in both the ruling
and being ruled this idea of having input into the running of the state can seen
impossible and unimaginable due to citizenship status or government in which the
state relays power into. Citizenship defined in a political viewpoint is said to be a
series of rights and responsibilities that involve an individual as a member of a
political community. This includes, social, economic, civic and political duties and
rights. As a member of the state all people have the right to be a citizen, with being a
citizen comes these rights and liberties. But this is part of the problem, people who
are not legally seen, as citizens are not recognized by the state there placement,
treatment and rights become blurred. When defining citizenship we also need to look
at other surrounding areas that contribute to the ideal itself such as assimilation,
nationality, cultural identity, social integration and the other side of the spectrum,
stateless citizenship. Does citizenship provide cultural identity, nationality or just a
legal standpoint in which you can physically and legally belong to a country
Architecture Of Internet Application For Cloud Computing
Figure: 1.1: Architecture of Internet application in cloud computing [4]
As each server machine can host multiple application so it is important that
application should be stateless for the reason that every application store their
position information in backend storage servers, so that is repeated safely but it
may cause storage servers becomes overloaded but the focus of proposed work is on
application tire presenting a architecture is representative of a huge place of internet
services hosted in the cloud computing environment even through providing infinite
capacity on demand.
Moreover, on demand provisioning provides a cost efficient way for already
running businesses to cope with unpredictable spikes in the workload. Nevertheless,
an efficient scalability for an Internet application in the cloud requires a broad
knowledge of several areas, such as scalable architectures, scalability components in
the cloud, and the parameters of scalability components. With the increase in numbers
and size of on line communities are increasing effort to exploit cross functionalities
across these communities. However, application service providers have encountered
problems due to the irregular demand for their applications, especially when external
events can lead to unprecedented traffic levels to and from their application [5].
Dynamic nature of demand and traffic forces require for an extremely scalable

Analysis Of Guiding Mirrors In Jane Eyre
Guiding Mirrors In the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«, Bertha serves as a
primary obstacle in the novel, as her marriage to Rochester is a hindrance to Jane s
emotional fulfillment and happiness. Bertha is depicted as a violent and insane
woman who is kept hidden in an attic throughout the novel. Bertha s rage
eventually leads her to burn Thornfield, in which Rochester loses an eye and
severely injures himself. Despite the portrayal of Bertha as an inherently monstrous
figure, it almost seems as though oppression by a male dominated society has
fueled the destructive rage she comes to embody in the novel. This rage in Bertha
is a manifestation of Jane s passion and independent nature, which seems to serve as
a guiding force for Jane on her journey towards autonomy. Through the ominous
characterization of Bertha coupled with the positive impact her actions have on
Jane, BrontГ« explores gender inequality in an Victorian era and seems to suggest
that passionate and independent women in male dominated environments are
deprived of their femininity and may even be dehumanized. Bertha s presence acts
as an obstacle for Rochester and Jane s marriage, and therefore a hindrance to Jane
s quest for emotional fulfillment. BrontГ« achieves an obstructive characterization
of Bertha by using animal imagery to describe her throughout the novel. In fact, one
of the very first descriptions of Bertha reveals she has a savage face with lips swelled
and dark and bloodshot eyes who
Difference Between Transgender And Transgender
According to Merriam Webster, gender is defined as the behavioral, cultural, or
psychological traits typically associated with one sex . It is typical for our society
to combine sex and gender as if it is the same thing, which it is not. Sex is
biological, the makeup of your chromosomes. Gender, however, can be relative. A
person can be the female sex but identify as the male gender, and vice versa. This
topic is where we see individuals identifying as transsexual and transgender. Susan
Scutti (2014) explains the difference between the two. Scutti explains that
transsexuals are people who transition from one sex to another. An individual can be
born as a male and then become recognizably female (and vice versa) through the use
of hormones and/or surgical procedures. Scutti also explains that transsexuals are
unable to change their genetics and cannot acquire the reproductive abilities of the
sex to which they transition.
This is because sex, as I explained, is assigned at birth and refers to a person s
biological status as male or female. Each of us is born as either male or female, with
rare exceptions of those born intersex who may display characteristics of both sexes
at birth. Scutti explains that transgender, then, unlike transsexual, is like an umbrella
term. One example of a transgendered person might be a man who is attracted to
women but also identifies as a cross dresser. Other examples include people who
consider themselves gender nonconforming, multigendered,
Traditional Voting In America
Introduction Most democratic societies are fueled by the power of the people and
when the opportunity to use that power is removed you should expect rash
repercussions. History has displayed that time and time again. America being the long
time democratic leader of the free world has seen many instances where groups within
the population felt like their votingrights weren t being respected. America as a
nation has slightly overcame those struggles but currently there are still many
obstacles between the average voter and actually casting a vote. Many problems
include lack of time, lack of convenience, lack of knowledge, and more. To combat
this we have explored the alternatives to the traditional voting in a booth method that
is so popular... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many jobs require people to travel thus disqualifying them from voting where they
are registered. People with disabilities have a hard time getting to the polls and are
not always given special accommodation from the government in order to ensure
they are able to vote. It is also inconvenient for elderly people to get the polls in
order to vote for things that directly affect them. Because of this, issues regarding
raising minimum wage for the working class, rights for people with disabilities, and
Social Security are not reflected in the polls. In a democratic society, it is important
to have representation of all citizens. Unfortunately, the current voting system is a
way to subconsciously disenfranchise certain

I Am A Monk From A Small Church
Hello my fellow Christians. I come to you today in deep personal peril. I have
built my career making Icon frames my entire life. I once felt I was helping people
seek refuge with our glorious god. Connecting them to not just to our holy saints
but also to Christ himself. Yet now I stand wondering if I have strayed them wrong.
Have I sent my fellow men, woman, and even children to damnation while I profit. I
am a monk before an artisan, yet I may have cursed my fellow followers to hell.
This is why I am here, I want find out if what I have been doing helping or hurting
innocent souls, and if so to repent my sins. I look toward you all and ask that you
look at this with not your minds or wallets, but instead with our souls and look
toward god for guidance. In these trying times we need him more then ever
I am not a very educated man; I am a monk from a small church in Constantinople. I
make religious object, including icon frames to help myself and others connect to
god. I make very intricate frames with precious metals, such as gold, and jewels for
churches (Carr pp. 195) but I also make simple ones for the peasants to have in their
homes. I take time making sure each frame, no matter how simple, highlights the
holiness of who ever is depicted in the icon.
When I view the final work, I always viewed it as a celebration of the person,
especially Christ. I look at it a remember Christ s sacrifices for my sins and the rest of
this world filled with sins of every kind. When
Ai Hollywood Research Paper
The Art Institution of Hollywood (AI Hollywood) is a good fit for me due to its
strong fashion marketing curriculum combined with the diversity of the student body,
as well as the accessibility of fashion professional networking opportunities. I was
impressed with AI Hollywood s energetic learning environment while visiting the
campus during this summer. I graduated from Saint Louis University with a
concentration in international business. As an academic major, international business
fits both my personality and my professional aspirations. I initially caught the
international business bug at an American private high school, where my circle of
friends and I would exchange ethnic foods and teach each other our home languages.

I try to consciously broaden my career goals and chances by not limiting myself
geographically and be able to respond better to market needs. My education
experience in AI Hollywood can help me to learn or improve skills that are helpful
to my career goals. In the next five years, my goal is to find a position at a fashion
company where I can use and take on new challenges over time. In the next ten years,
I wish that I could engage in independent studio operation and fashion media.
While I am focused on success, I am also commercially aware of the present climate
within the fashion industry. According to research from the Hong Kong Institute of
Fashion Buying, China s consumers of luxury and high fashion are between 20 and
50 years old. Due to the implicit and abstract nature of the traditional culture, there
are basically no fashion marketing and management. Thus, there is an increasing need
for professional fashion mangers.
I might have some shortcoming of research on fashion magazines in its depth,
paradigm and so on. I believe that AI Hollywood, with its academic excellency and
cultural diversity, is a place for me to sharpen my personal skills and expand my
knowledge to fulfill my dream to become future fashion manager. I envision myself
using the values, knowledge and skills that I acquire at
Summary Of The End Of Men By Hanna Rosin
Women are Rising In The End of Men?, an article featured in The Atlantic in summer
2010, author Hanna Rosin illustrates the drastic, ascending shifts perceived in modern
society. Rosin poises the theory of how men were traditionally seen as the superior
gender. The author believes there is a contractionary shift in genderroles and that the
new era is [B]etter suited to women (Rosin 304). Recent studies show that women
are becoming prominent in the workforce, education, and family. Accordingly, she
explains how women are miraculously able to balance work while nurturing their
children. Rosin believes that this occurs because men are not biologically made to
tend children. Additionally, Rosin analyses how men lost 8 million jobs during the
Great Recession (Rosin 306). During that time, women were becoming what made a
majority of the workforce. There were increases in women s presence in what used
to be male dominated fields: school, politics, and business. Rosin questions this
drastic shift concerning women and men s roles in society, stating how they are now
equally competing for jobs. Moreover, the way women behave now show their
commendable abilities in the workforce and how society is changing as they establish
their dominance and authority everyday. Once, women were frowned upon, but
nowadays, more people favor having girls than boys. Today s era is commending
women with their admirable work ethic and self worth. Throughout most of history,
men dominated the
Robert Smithson Plural Jetty Essay
Robert Smithson s Spiral Jetty is a 3ft. 6 in. x 15 ft. x 1,500 ft. Earthwork located in
Great Salt Lake, Utah. It was created in April 1970. Located where the rails of the
first transcontinental railroad met, it sits near the Golden Spike monument; making it
an actual landscape. It s a giant counterclockwise spiral sculpture made of black rock,
earth, algae, and salt crystals. It is said that Smithson used dump trucks and
bulldozers to haul in 6,650 tons of earth and rocks to complete the Spiral Jetty. In a
32 minute short color film, he recorded the construction of the Spiral Jetty.
Smithson had to acquire land rights, before completing it. Virginia Dwan Gallery
of New York gave Smithson a $9,000 grant for a part of the Spiral Jetty s
construction. The rest was financed over a 20 years lease at payments of $100
annually. The first phase of building the Spiral Jetty took about 6 days to complete.
Smithson was not completely satisfied with it initially and spent another 3 days
changing the shape. 7,000 tons of rock had to be moved during these 3 additional
days of work. Smithson died 3 years after completing the Spiral Jetty. It is now
owned by the state of Utah, who acquired it in 2011.... Show more content on

Biography Of William Edward Burghart Dubois Essay
Intro/Education/Work: William Edward Burghart DuBois, more commonly known
as W.E.B. DuBois, was born February 23, 1868. Raised in Great Barrington,
Massachusetts, he grew up in what was considered to be a moderately well integrated
and tolerant community. His mother s family was included in the miniscule
population of free black peoplebecause of this, he was certainly considered
privileged as opposed to people of color who were much less fortunate or who
lived in highly segregated communities. DuBois attended the town s local public
school, both elementary and high school levels, and excelled. His teachers
recognized his abilities and often encouraged him in his academic pursuits. DuBois
graduated at the top of his class in 1884, and he was determined to attend college as
well. DuBois was set on attending Harvard, however, he didn t have the funds
available to do so. With receiving donations of twenty five dollars a year from from
four different congregational churches in his hometown of Great Barrington, DuBois
was able to attend Fisk University instead. Fisk University is a historically black
college, located in Nashville, Tennessee. DuBois attended Fisk from 1885 to 1888.
Having traveled south to attend Fisk, DuBois had his first experience with southern
racism, which, at that time, included lynchings and intense bigotry, and many states
in the south were governed by Jim Crow laws. During the summer, he taught in
community schools and learned more
Pyramid Lake War of 1860
One of the biggest conflicts between the settlers and Indians in Nevada was the
Pyramid Lake Indian war of 1860. The war and deaths that followed was a result of
tension, ignorance, anti Indian attitude and misunderstanding. The war was preceded
by violent incidents against both the whites and Indians and consisted of two larger
battles. The Washoe and Paiutetribe s lives changed with the influx of settlers that
came with the Comstock mining rush. Nevada being a desert had limited resources
and the settlers came in and started using them without care. The whites cut down
pine trees that were a food source to the tribes, they dug big holes while mining for
minerals, and they hunted the game of the area. The use of these limited resources
caused tension between the whites and the Indians and settlers. Several murders of
whites, including two men McMullen and McWilliams, were widely blamed on
Paiutes. The lack of effective government in the area meant that there was no formal
judicial response to these incidents, leading to private retribution and a general
atmosphere of fear and distrust. In the case of McMullen and McWilliams the
Washoe Indians were framed for murder. McMullen was headed to California to
gather supplies, when he and McWilliams were murdered by their campfire. Both
men had been shot and arrows had been inserted into their wounds. Everyone blamed
the Indians for the murder of the two men. When asked how they knew it was the
Indians they said, We know,

Nfl Performance Essay
A study led by Berry (2005) observed the place kicks for the 1998 NFL season. He
considered the kick taker, the distance of the kick being taken, the result of the take
kick and the accuracy of the kick in measuring goal scoring abilities. Furthermore,
Berry mentioned in his study that the NFL presently only rank the kick takers by
their successful percentage of kicks taken rather than an overall measure of their
kicking performance which should include the distance of the kick. If we look at the
parameters included and the parameters excluded there is a potential difference to the
accuracy measurement of Berry s goal kicking model. He himself stated that he
excluded the wind, rain, snow and blocked kicks. Another study conducted in the

For example, results from a study set out by Csatalijay et al., (2011) revealed that in
each of the 4 periods of play, different performance indicators explained how
winning teams differentiated from the losing team. In addition, they described that
winning teams possessed higher intensity plays and had a superior shot
performance. While the other factors are not relevant in this regard, they explained
why winning teams outperform losing teams in a basketball match. Another study
by Lopez et al., (2011) which examined only shot attempts showed that not all shots
can be classified as equally difficult because of the location and conditions of the
taken shot. How players can improve in this area was discussed by Miller Bartlett
(1996). They stated that players should be tasked with trying shots from a number
of locations on the court in order to help their shooting. In other words, one of the
conditions could be the defensive pressure applied by the opposing team. For
example, in Chang et al., (2014:2) conference paper they explained that defender

The Tang Empress Wu Zetian (also known as Empress Wu or as Wu Zhao; ruled
China around 690 705 AD) was China s first female ruler. (Dash, 2012) Pharaoh

We will look at Wu Zetian, the first female ruler in China, was born in 624. Per

Amenhotep IV aka Akhenatena prophet? Defying centuries of traditional worship of
the Egyptians, the mid 14th century BCE Pharaoh Akhenaten decreed during his
reign that his subjects were to worship only one god; the sun disk Aten. Was this a
direct message from the gods or were there other political reasons at play. The
pharaohs of the 18th dynasty 1550 1307 BCE had expanded Egypt s wealth;
conquering Palestine, Syria, plus securing the gold mines of Nubia, which made her
the wealthiest country in the world. With 2,000 years of experience behind her,
Egyptian forces were able to push back the Hittites, Libyans, and other tribes who
stood in the way of their development. Amongst the progression was Amun, a major
Egyptian deity, who after the rebellion of Thebes against the Hyksos, became
heightened after his fusion with the Sun god, Ra, as Amun Re. In gratitude for their
successes, the pharaohs offered treasures to the god Amun Ra, increasing the wealth
and influence of the priesthood. The deity acquired national importance that alarmed
Amenhotep III and his son Amenhotep IV due to the escalating powers of the priests

Why Do People Choose To Be Evil
To Choose to be Evil Every day people makes choices, they can be good or bad.
These choices are what define peoples morals. There is always evil and temptation
surrounding mankind. The line dividing good and evil is more blurred than ever with
new temptations coming into play. Even more now that society is advancing into the
future. Mankind chooses to be evil. They are not born that way, but the choices they
make are what defines their morals. Throughout history there have been cases that
have proven the statement people aren t born evil; evil is made. These cases include
the Oklahoma bombing, Columbine High School shooting, and more recently the
Boston marathon bombing. The first event proving the evil of mankind is The
Oklahoma City Bombing. This bombing was a tragedy that happened on April
19,1995. The bombing was caused by Timothy McVeigh. Mr. McVeigh had a bone to

Even though some would consider motocross racing a hobby or a game rather then
a sport because of their opinions, a person should understand that motocross racing
is a sport in today s world because it contains all the elements of the definition of
what a sport is and Motocross is a sport due to the fact that it requires an individual
to be in top shape, both mentally and physically as defined by the word sport.
What exactly determines whether or not an activity is a sport? The term sport is
defined by The Free Dictionary as: A physical activity that is governed by a set of
rules or customs and often engaged in competitively, an activity involving physical
exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules ... Show more content on

A rider must meet the distance, ride to the height of the hills, and race in a timely
manner as to get to the finish line first. This gives the rider the victory of that
checkered flag. No matter who is asked the question of what makes a sport a sport
the answer is always a split. It seems to be that opinion and not based on the facts
of what is required of a sport to be called a sport. Once again the argument can be
made that games are things that require skill but not necessarily athleticism.
Motocross requires both and then some, thus it is a sport! I started riding dirt
bikes as a pastime when I was in junior high. As I improved on my riding skills, I
realized that I wanted to excel in this activity, and began to see it more as a sport
than a pastime. Yes, I said sport. Anyone that does not believe that Motocross racing
is a sport is not living on the planet earth. Motocross involves the physical ability to
hold your bike up while making turns and jumps at speeds that sometimes surpass a
car on a city street and are sometimes higher than a two story building. Motocross
definitely requires someone in great physical condition to perform these feats. The
bikes are not light like a bicycle but are extremely heavy and seem to get heavier the
more you ride them. I feel that this requirement proves one of the definitions above;
physical endurance. Next, rules of competition are made for each track that a racer
Example Of An Epictetus
What Epictetus means by this is, that you get upset because something doesn t go
the way you thought it would, or that it doesn t follow your beliefs. You have a
false view of the world, and when things don t follow this false view of the world
you get upset. They get upset with others and the world around them. This is because
they have a fictional view of the world around them. If they where to just except that
the world was never going to happen the way they thoughtit would, and if they were
able to just except that the world was never going to happen that way it would make
them happier. This is the same when someone irritates you. It s not the person that
irritates you. It s the fact that this person doesn t follow you own beliefs. Whether
those beliefs are on how the world works or how people should treat you.... Show

If you are able to understand this you will become much happier, because you will
understand that there is no other way that this could have happened and that there
was nothing you could have done to change it. An example of this would be if you
believed that on your birthday your believed that every person you meet should
give you a birthday present, and after going to class no one in class gave you a
birthday present. You would become very angry and irritated with everyone in your
class. But your not angry with the fact that they didn t bring you presents. Your
irrigated by the fact that you thought that everyone was going to bring you a present,
because this was a fictional view of your world and other
Designing A Mousetrap Powered Device
The purpose of this project is to design and construct a mousetrap powered device
that could move a hacky sack along a rectangular track 2 meters wide x 15 meter
long. The device must not be powered by any outside source. It must be a product of
creative and innovative solution with the application of the fundamentals of
engineering. The device must also incorporate the five solution criteria; novel
solution (device must be surprising), effective solution (hacky sack should travel at
least 15 meters), elegant solution (device should be simple and understandable),
germinal solution (opens up new ideas) and lastly the creativity of the device. This
project also aims to help develop the capabilities of each student as a team member
in a group work activity.
2Creativity in Design
The team started the process by doing individual research and drawing a design plan
for the most ideal device to build. We started brainstorming and suggested several
ideas of devices, such as, a three wheel and a four wheel car, a catapult device and a
flying mousetrap device. Afterwards we have come up with several factors to
consider in choosing which device to build. These are as follows;
It is simple and easy to build
Must have enough force to carry the hacky sack for more than 15 meters
The materials needed are cheap and easy to find
The device must be aesthetically pleasing but must remain to provide sufficient
functionality
Most of all, must incorporate the five solution criteria
Police Trust
As cited from article Why Police Can t Be Trusted to Decide If Video Should Be
Public by Conor Friederdorf , The killing of an unarmed man in Gardena California is
a perfect example of why police could not be trusted. Trust is perceived in nearly
every aspect of one s daily lives. With trust, one is able to build more relationships
with others because one is able to share a part of their life. There are different kinds
of trustwhich is trust in family, trust in friends, and how fragile trust really is.
One s trust in family is a big importance because one lived with them from birth
until one matures. Most of one s secrets during one s childhood are known by one s
family and are trusted to keep them. One has grown attached to family because they
are the closest therefore they are the first to know one s deepest secrets most of the
time. Trust is the ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friendship is a necessary aspect of every human s life. Friends will not let other
friends make bad decisions and will expect others to do the same for them. Trust can
be proven to others by doing the right thing even when one is not asked. If others
know that one can handle the responsibility and can manage to do the right thing,
they will not hesitate in providing support and friendship. However, when the trust
between two people have been broken, the friendship and trust is also broken.
One characteristic that makes trust unique is its fragility. To gain the trust of others,
one must continuously prove one s honesty and reliability. To gain complete trust
of someone can take years, but can be lost in a single moment. An example of how
delicate trust can really be is in marriage. The married couple must constantly be
honest with each other to gain real trust. This bond can be easily broken if one of
the spouses is caught cheating. Trust in another person can make one feel loved and
supported, while broken trust can lead to the feeling of anger and
Symbolism of Albrecht Durer s Master Engravings Essay
Albrecht Durer completed the Master Engravings in the years 1513 and 1514. With
these three engravings (Knight, Death, and Devil, St. Jerome in His Study, and
Melencolia I) he reached the high point of his artistic expression and concentration.
each print represents a different philosophical perspective on the worlds respectively
of action, spirit, and intellect. Although Durer himself evidently did not think of the
three as a set, He sometimes sold or gave St. Jerome and Melencolia Ias a pair.
In the engraving, Knight, Death, and Devil, it appears that the hero (the Knight) is
gaining a moral victory over death. (Fig. 1) The Knight has often been interpreted as
Erasmus s sturdy Christian soldier who scoffs at death and the ... Show more content

The construction of the picture space, impeccably correct from a mathematical point
of view, is characterized, first, by the extreme shortness of the perspective distance
which, if the room were drawn to natural scale, would amount to only about four
feet; second, by the lowness of the horizon which is determined by the eye level of
the seated Saint; third, by the eccentric position of the vanishing point which is little
more than half a centimeter from the right margin. The shortness of the distance,
combined with the lowness of the horizon strengthens the feeling of intimacy.
However, the vanishing point prevents the small room from looking cramped and
box like because the north wall is not visible; it gives greater distinction to the play
of light on the embrasures of the windows; and it suggests the experience of casually
entering a private room rather than of facing an artificially arranged stage.
Finally, Durer himself christened his engraving; with the inscription В‘Melencolia .
(Fig. 3) Durer also interpreted two of the attributes of the seated female figure; he
noted down on one occasion: В‘the key means power; the purse means wealth. Durer
has also told us quite clearly what he understood by melancholy. And we also know
something about his spiritual condition at the time when he made this engraving В–

Training Day Subculture
Subculture and Video Reflection Somebody didn t sleep through ethics training
(Ayer and Fuqua, 2001). This statement made by an officer in the movie Training
Day, best exemplifies a major theme of the movie. Training Day should be shown
to rookie officers as an example of how a police subculture can allow officers to
abuse power. The movie is an over exaggeration, but provides depth and detail into
certain situations officers may find themselves in. This paper will look at the
specific concepts of a policesubculture that officers may encounter.
The Police Subculture To begin we need to understand the police subculture that is
involved throughout the events of Training Day. To do this we look at the characters
involved. Jake Hoyt is an officer that is attempting to join the narcotics division of his
police service. Throughout the beginning of the movie he is interested in establishing
a relationship with his new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pollock defines discretion as the authority to make a decision between two or more
choices (Pollock, p.112, 2015). There were many times throughout the film where
Hoyt would have been able to use his discretion and realize what Harris was doing
was illegal. Hoyt was in a position where he did not have much authority to make the
decisions, but numerous times, he accepts Harris s actions and turns a blind eye.
Duty
Pollock defines duty as required behaviour or action (Pollock, p.112, 2015). Hoyt
began the film stating that if he aced the assignment he would make detective
(Ayer and Fuqua,2001). It could be argued that this line is the sole reason for Hoyt
not taking the proper actions against Harris. He was so determined to do well and
make a good impression that he forgot the duties that are expected of a police officer.
If his judgment had not been clouded by his drive to do well then he may have
spoken against Harris illegal actions.
Making Yeast Doughs
There are four basic ingredients used in making yeast doughs flour, water, yeast
and salt. Lean doughs contain these four, with or without addition of little sugar or
fat. So how come there are so many kinds of different breads: crunchy baguette,
chewy bagel, soft rolls...? Proper manipulation of these same ingredients can result
with large variety of breads. If you add some more fat, sugar and eggs to this
mixture, you will make enriched yeast dough. Making Yeast Doughs There are nine
basic steps in making yeast dough: 1.Scaling the Ingredients It is important to
measure ingredients accurately and it is preferable to have them at the proper
temperature. All ingredients combined and well kneaded should reach 25ВєC. The
amount of flour may vary depending on the humidity level and the amount of
protein in the flour. Flour with more protein will absorb more water. 2.Mixing and
Kneading the Dough The yeast dough must be kneaded properly so the ingredients
are combined uniformly and the gluten is developed. There are several methods of
mixing the yeast dough. Straight Dough Method is the simplest and the most
common method of mixing yeast dough. Yeast is firs dissolved in water, and then it
is added to flour and salt mixture. After that dough id kneaded until smooth and
elastic. Sponge Method has two stages. First yeast, liquid and half of flour is mixed
to make a thick batter sponge (Fr. poolisch). The sponge is then left to rise until
doubled in size. After that
The Problems Faced By Sarbanes Oxley
The second problem is public companies have always had to put up with more
regulations than private ones because they encourage ordinary people to risk their
capital. After the 2007 2008 financial crisis the regulatory burden has become
heavier. America has introduced new rules, from the 2002 Sarbanes Oxley
legislation on accounting to the Dodd Frank financial regulations of 2010.
Sarbanes Oxley increased the annual cost of complying with securities law from
$1.1 million per company to roughly $2.8 million. The third problem is growing
short termism. The capital markets have increased their power dramatically with
the rise of huge institutional investors and intensification of shareholder activism.
Mutual funds count their money in trillions rather than billions. Hedge funds are
not afraid to take on corporate Goliaths such as McDonald s and Time Warner if
they think they are failing. The average life expectancy of public companies
shrank from 65 years in the 1920s to less than ten in the 1990s. The life expectancy
of CEOs has also fell from 8.1 years in 2000 to 6.3 years in 2009. Investors have to
right to fire managers because they own the company. Companies have to find a
balance between the short and long term, satisfying the market s demand for profits
today, while planning for the future. Owners and regulators seem to be making it
harder for bosses to look beyond quarterly earnings and board are devoting less time
to strategy and more enforcing regulations. France s
Essay The Metaphysical One in Platonic and Augustinian...
The legacy of Plato left its distinctive brand of influence on St. Augustine s beliefs
and writings, of this there is no doubt. In Confessions, Augustine himself professed
that it was the Platonic books that enabled him to attach himself to his God. However,
it is evident that Augustine re augmented much of the Platonic thoughts and,
combining them with the early Christian doctrines, configured the hybridinto what
became the foundation of Catholicism. The differences as well as similarities that
exist between the two thought systems can be dissected from two points: the nature
of the metaphysical supreme One and its relationships with the Many.
At the heart of Platonism is the concept of eidos, or Forms: the theory of an absolute
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is akin to the Hindu doctrine of Atman, the Cosmic Soul that is the
ultimate Being; while Platonic material world is similar to the Hindu idea of Maya
the World of Illusions that is made by the materialization of the Invisible. The
Platonic God remains formless, nameless, and utterly unfathomable. It can be seen
as a unified collection of isolated eidos, much like how thousands of different colors
are in the end dissolved into an eternal shade of gray. Or it can also be understood as
the Form of Being. In a sense, this God is a mathematical concept: Infinity.
Centuries later, Augustine incorporated Plato s half hidden pantheism into the
foundation of the monotheistic Catholic Church. Though both metaphysical entities
are the cause of physical existence, the Platonic One is passive while the Christian
God of Augustine can be defined through his action of Creating. He is similar to the
other entity in that He is immaterial, eternal, immutable, and unchangeable. He is the
Word and the Will. However, whereas Plato s Universal Principle is a one
dimensional perfect Reality, Augustine s God is the spiritual substance the formless
Matter which is both everywhere and nowhere at once. The Creation is unified and
contained, across all past, present, and future, in one single Creator. To God, there is

attempting to sue J for a breach in contract and is seeking damages of $30,000 which
he believes is the outstanding amount that is owed to him by J. This case touches on
the fundamental concepts of contract law where H can only claim damages if the
formation of a valid contract between the two parties is evident via the elements of a
contract, including intention, agreement, consideration, legal capacity, genuine
consent and legality of objects must be established. Once these elements are satisfied,
the terms of the contract need to be evaluated to deem whether the contract between

b) Agreement For there to be an agreement, the elements of offer and acceptance
need to be properly satisfied. H offers to deliver the timber for $90,000, which then
becomes binding when J accepts this offer by promising to pay the sum total of
$90,000 for the timber, which is unqualified acceptance (Lawbook, 2006, 7.1.370).
The offer is communicated and accepted by word of mouth (Felthouse v Bindley).
Therefore it can be concluded that there is sufficient offer and acceptance between
H and J for tha agreed additional $30,000. c) Consideration Consideration is the
exchange of something for something , or it must be the exchange of promises
(Carter, Peden and Tolhurst 2007). In this case, J asks for a supply of timber in
return for the promise to pay $60,000 as well as an extra $30,000. This
consideration can be considered as good consideration as the exchange of promises
occurs after the verbal contract had been established, unlike in Roscorla v Thomas
which indicates past consideration, where consideration is made after the act has
been perfomed. This consideration is also adequate as set up by the precedent in
Chappell amp; Co Ltd v Nestle Co Ltd which shows that consideration must have
some value, just as the timber, and the promised $30,000 have some value and as
both parties are seen to gain some benefit from the exchange. However, it can be
argued that there may be insufficiency of
The Era Of The American Civil War
After the American Civil War, a laissez faire government allowed for a new class of
businessmen to rise to power: those who dominated an entire industry, sometimes
several markets. They were the hallmark of the so called Gilded Age, which lasted
from the end of reconstruction until the early 1900s. These men, known as Robber
Barons, shaped the American economy, necessitating new laws to be signed to limit
their power . Although there were only four main Barons (John D. Rockefeller,
Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and J.P. Morgan), they controlled much of
the economy with their four respective trades: Oil, steel, railroads, and banking .
Although all four were important, Rockefeller and Carnegie stand head and
shoulders above the rest, becoming among the richest and most successful people
the world has ever seen with the exception of some royalty. During the Civil War,
both the Union and Confederacy converted to Total War economies. With all
industries, from manufacturing to agriculture to textiles, focused on the war effort,
many relatively new industries grew surpassingly large. Railroads in the North
grew by around 16,000 miles, an increase of nearly 75%. However, relatively small
companies controlled relatively small sections of track privately. This set the stage
for Vanderbilt to begin buying up companies until he controlled one of the largest
railroad networks ever seen. The latter parts of the Civil War and the early
reconstruction saw the rise of a new
Beltway Sniper Murders
The beltway sniper was a shooting spree that occurred in different areas throughout
Washington DC, the Metropolitan area, and Virginia, in October, 2002. It was a
two men rampage committed by John Allen Muhammad, who was the leader of
the attacks, and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo. An interesting fact is that Malvo
was only 17 years old when he participated in the three week reign of terror. They
did not have a specific objective because random civilians were shot and killed
during three weeks. There was a total of ten deaths, and three more critically
wounded. They were also connected with seven more deaths and three people
injured in previous crimes. First, their main goal was to take down Muhammad s
ex wife. By killing people at random, the ex wife s murder would look like just
another tragic death in the sniper s killing list. Fortunately, for the ex wife,
Muhammed was unable to reach his goal and she was not killed or injured by him.
Their base of operations was a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan. The car was used as a
rolling sniper s nest. It was the perfect component for their evil and horrific plan
because it was an effective getaway. They prepared... Show more content on

by saying that he saw the sniper escaped in a white van with one tail light broken.
Going back to the phone call, the sniper mentioned an unsolvable murder committed
in Alabama. It was a liquor store robbery and it was the place where investigators
found the first major evidence to show the murderer s identity; a fingerprint of Lee

Argumentative Essay On Mermaids
Mermaids, half human, half fish, have been the subject of sailors fishtails for
hundreds of years. Obviously the idea of mermaids is nothing but mythology,
nevertheless, you still find people trying to prove the existence of these mythical
beings. Popular culture has depicted mermaids in two drastically different ways.
One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who
will do no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The
other, as evil, conniving creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths. Long before
there were mermaids ,some 4,000 years ago, there was Ea, the Babylonian God of the
sea. He had the lower body of a fish and the upper body of a man, much like we see
depicted today in mermaids.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Argument from Authority is when the person who is presenting evidence in an
argument has no real authority on the topic or facts relevant to the the claim being
made. Christopher Columbus wasn t a biologist, he was an explorer eager to find
gold in a new world by any means necessary. If given the opportunity he probably
would have enslaved the mermaids had he actually encountered them. What
Columbus really encountered were nothing more than manatees. Manatees are
animals with a large body and a battle shaped tale, with a round face. They move
slowly through warm water areas such as the Caribbean. Up until Columbus defended
upon the area he, nor his men, had encountered such animals, making it very easy for
them to confuse the two. When Columbus encountered his mermaids he said ...he
saw three mermaids who came quite high out of the water but were not as pretty as
they are depicted, for somehow in the face they look like men. (simon) (history)
Trust Infidelity
Life would be significantly different if there were not cheating hearts . In fact,
society as a whole would be very changed without those experiences. Think of
television programming. What would a soap opera be all those couples just being
faithful? What would be happening on Desperate Housewives? How many blues
songs would have remained unwritten? Country music would certainly have to
march to a beat of a different drummer. The impact is probably more painful and
realistic when you break it down to a person level.
Each cheating situation has its own twist, but the result is still the same. There is a
breach of trust. Even if your partner never finds out you cheated, you have lost trust
in yourself. The relationship is certainly broken.

The Guardian Building Of Downtown Detroit
What is that strange orange brick building? Why should I care about that? That
striking orange, brick building is the Guardian Building of downtown Detroit.
When deciding to go to a historical site in the city, I was drawn in by the history of
the place. I am relatively new to the city and when I heard about this place, I knew
that s where I wanted to go. When our group traveled together to the site, it became
apparent why this building is not only important to Detroit, but to all cities. The
Guardian Buildingwas not only a great fixture of the past, but it is a leading example
of the efforts to bring a city back to greatness. The Guardian Building was founded
by The Union Trust Company. Smith Hinchman and Grylls architectural firm and
designer Wirt C. Rowland were crucial to the grand design of the historic site (

motto made of inlaid tile. This motto is pictured in figure 1. It upholds the ideals of
the building, of the founders. It is not just a motto of the past. It envisions a grand
future for the current city of Detroit. The tiles read, Founded on the principles of
faith and understanding this building is erected for the purpose of maintaining and
continuing the ideals of financial service which prompted the organization of this
institution. This building was not some boring old bank building. It was built to be

Alaniz The Nicaraguan
For the past few years, Professor Ryan Alaniz has accompanied the Engineers

mask, a special artifact that he would cherish for many years to come. The
expedition began as any other Cal Poly trip, but it all changed in an instant once
Alaniz caught a glimpse of this Nicaraguan treasure. The mask, seemed like any old
mask, but theoretically it represents a mass of people s struggles due to the
inequalities of society. By learning of the mask s origin, it allowed Alaniz to get an
insight to a new perspective of the Nicaraguan culture: A culture of people with
practically nothing that would give up everything to protect the people closest to
them. Alaniz stated that the indigenous people created the mask to be used in the
war against their corrupt government. Since the mask was worn during a time of
war, the solid red color of the mask could symbolize the blood of the fallen. The use

The Importance Of Living A Healthy Lifestyle
What does it mean to be healthy and why do we strive to live a healthy lifestyle?
Let s first start by defining what Health is: it s the state of being sound or whole, in
the body, mind, or soul; especially being free from physical disease or pain. There
are so many different kinds of health: ranging from physical, mental, emotional,
spiritual and so forth. Now, a lifestyle is the pattern of habits you decide to pursue in
your life. What most people misinterpret about a healthy lifestyle is that it s not just
about eating healthy foods or working out at the gym, but rather the pattern of
healthy habits that you create that sustains your personal well being.
In 2016, 92.5% of Canadians aged 12 and older (27.3 million people) reported that
they were satisfied or very satisfied with their life. While this number remained
unchanged for females in the previous year, Males experienced a slight reduction in
life satisfaction compared to 2015.
So how are the different kinds of health linked together? The fact is that your physical
health effects your mental health, while your spiritual health affects your emotional
health and so on. So let s pretend that you started seeing someone you like, now
although your physical health might be at its prime, if your emotional health isn t
justifiably high either then you would experience at some point unhappiness and
discomfort with your life regardless of which person you decide to be with. Thus
compromising your overall well being.
Physics Of Basketball
How to make a perfect shot in basketball. There is a way to make a perfect Shot a
basketball and it involves physics. This physics involves distance and the speed
and arch. Basketball players have to experiments with were they shoot from on the
court and there arch to see what works for them. For a example, James Harden is 6
5 and he shoots 49.6 degree launch angle is pretty much spotlight. His height is
achieve the slowest moving ball at him. Launch angle is simply the way or angle
that you launch the ball. The taller you are the lower degree you shoot at and the
shooter you are the higher degree you shoot at. How much force is necessary is
determined by your distance from the goal.
Halfway in between these two extremes would be a 45 degree angle. Your distance
from the goal and the release height of your shot determine the ideal launch angle for
a slow moving ball at the rim. The closer you are to the basket, the higher your launch
angle will be. Shooting is an optimization process. Complicating this matter is the fact
that your target area increases with a higher launch angle. The higher the arc, the
larger the target. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from the shooter s hand to the basket is referred to as arch. Those who watch
basketball frequently may have heard an announcer comment on a high archer or a

high arch shot from ten feet away than during a flat shot from that same distance.
Shooters might use a high arched shot to allow their teammates to
Advantages And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence
While our smartphones and computers are shrinking, their computing power is
growing exponentially. Close at hand with this trend, computer scientists and
engineers refine and create what we call AI, Artificial intelligence. Today, the AI that
humanity has developed carries a relatively low intellectual capacity. On the other
hand, specialists of the field such as Andrew Garrison and Rodney Brooks predict
that in the future, AI will carry a level of intelligence higher than that of a human.
This development raises questions. What are the possible advantages and
disadvantages of Artificial intelligence, and to what extent is it ethically defensible to

Uncovering a plan for a terrorist attack usually requires paying attention to what is
known as pattern of life . Pattern of life intelligence looks at the behaviors of a
community and looks for actions that are out of the ordinary. Preventing an attack
begins with keeping track of the chemicals used to manufacture Sarin and looking
for suspicious activities that can lead to its discovery. Since one of the primary
chemicals, Methylphosphonyl difluoride, is classified as a Schedule 1 chemical
under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), there are very strict reporting
requirements for its manufacture and sale. In addition to tracking the sale and
movement of the chemicals used to produce Sarin, there are other signs to look for
that can draw the interest of local authorities. The requirements of the CWC

Desobry Mission Command
INTRODUCTION This mission command analysis review the battle of Team
Desobry at the town of Noville, Belgium. These events took place between 18 to
20 December 1944 which impacted later on the battle fought at Bastogne during
the World War II period. It is also the goal of this review to discuss and analyze
three mission command principles displayed during this battle: (1), (2) and (3). One
of the main protagonist forces to be part of this history was the 20th Armored
Infantry Battalion, 10th Armored Division. The commanding officer of this element
was Major William R. Desobry. (During/Among) the events of World War II the
German forces were trying to gain control of the Ardennes to cut off the supply lines

Therefore this represented a disadvantages for the American forces since they did
not have the higher ground. To increase the handicap even more, the weather at the
time was predominantly foggy, no maps of the area were available for the arriving
commanders and team Desobry arrived at Noville 18 December at 23:00 hours,
depriving them from the opportunity to take initial advantage of the area natural
defenses. Desobry established teams at Bourcy road, Houffalize road and the road to
Vaux. Those teams consisted of an understrength platoon of infantry and a section of
medium tanks.В№ Through the night the Engineer troops were ordered to set up a
mine field in support of the roadblocks, however, they were unable to do so due to
the heavy transit of remanent units fleeing to the west. Many elements from the 9th
Armor Division s Combat Command R, the 28th Infantry Division and several
engineer units were drafted through the night by Desobry s
The Importance And Influence Of The Romanesque Era
Taking a journey through the historical time line of the past, it is clear to see that
change occurs. Some periods illustrate more change than others, some of them are
of greater influence than the period before it, and then there are those that are not
only influential from an art perspective, but also from the perspective of the styles
ability to spread across a whole region. A period that specifically displayed this
capability was the Romanesque era. The Romanesque era was a period in time
which was actually not based on the premise of geographical location or political
stance, but more on the premise of the artistry and architectural design during that
time (Kleiner, 2014). It is suggested that the influence of the Romanesque artistic
styles was largely due to the volume of pilgrimages that were taking place in search
of sacred cover and the outcome of the crusades during this time (Petzold, 2017).
This era did not only provide one influential style across the region, but many such as,
church architecture, architectural structures, sculptures, paintings, and decorations;
all of which can be considered Romanesque art (Kleiner, 2014). Of the Romanesque
era, each piece of art even from different countries of origin were affected by the
economy, politics, and religious influence or concern, yet regardless each had a
unique presence that represented the Romanesque period. One of the potential
biggest influences over the Romanesque period and its style was largely due to the
How Does Maus Conform To Art Spiegelman
Art Spiegelman s genre transcending work
Maus is a graphic novel by Art Spiegelman, serialized from 1980 to 1991. It tells
the story of Art Spiegelman s father, Vladek, a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor; it
tells the story of the relationship between Art and his father, complicated by his father
s Holocaust trauma; and Maus tells the story of the relationship between Art and his
artwork. A remarkable work, Maus is for sure. Not only is the use of a comic book
format daring for a horrible topic as the Holocaust, Maus also defies definition in
terms of genre. A biography, memoir, autobiography, history, or a mix of genres?
Fiction or non fiction? Maus remains rather unclassifiable.

In the book Art tells his story about the relationship with his father and his artwork.
The story in the book conforms to Art Spiegelman s real life experiences and is
therefore autobiographical. Especially the first 2 pages, prisoners on the hell planet
, and the pages 201 206 in the Complete Maus, that show Spiegelman one year after
the publication of Maus Volume I , can are autobiographical elements within Maus.
These sections are personal and show Art s feelings. On the other hand, as with the
biography, Maus does not conform to the layout of an autobiography, nor does it tell
the story of Art Spiegelman s entire
On Golden Pond Norman Thayer Relationship
There are movies and books that portray all types of father daughter relationships.
Some fathers are abusive, some are loving or (delete) and some are either (delete)
non existent. In On Golden Pond you see a distant, almost nonexistent, relationship
between Norman Thayer and his daughter Chelsea. Norman and Ethel raised their
only daughter on Golden Pond in the summer time, where they spent their time
picking strawberries, swimming, staying up late, reading, boating, and fishing. The
time periods where Chelsea is growing up is not actually shown in the film, but the
way she acts toward her father, reacts to her past, and how Norman treats Billy Ray
Jr. gives you a little insight on how she felt growing up. Chelsea seems to pretend to
Should Women Be Allowed In Combat
Women in Combat
Countries across the globe have engaged in war since their very start; however,
women have not been allowed full rights in combat; they have often been excluded
or sheltered. Women formerly had little to no rights in war; however, over time they
developed some rights ( History ). Since the 1940s, the combat exclusion policy has
not allowed for women to take on front line combat or have the opportunity to gain
certain leadership or ranked positions (
Women s Actions). Many feel this excludes women from having a full opportunity
in combat and does not allow for proper career advancement (Service Women). Men
look at women as weaker or less than them when it comes to combat, but if they meet
the physical requirements then they should be allowed equal employment (Koren).
Women should be allowed to engage in active combat to ensure equality and give
service opportunities; women have proven themselves to be physically, mentally and
morally capable of carrying out such duties ( Women ).
The history of women in combat is somewhat controversial; and women have always
seeked equality in combat and military forces (Women s Actions). Women have been

Certain exclusion policies shown about the women make it unable for them to
have certain career advancements and takes away certain job and leadership
positions. Women are excluded from 9% of all army roles, or 30% of active duty

to advance, be recruited or gain promotions in the forces they must lift certain

women from being generals or being able to be put into ranked positions, which can
be seen as unfair. Women should be allowed equal employment opportunities for all

Key Leaders During The Chicano Movement
During the Chicano Movement, there were many different key leaders that helped
the movement. These key leaders were Rodolfo Corky Gonzales, Reies Tijerina,
and Cesar Chavez. These men were famous for many things. Such as, writing
poems in order to help the Mexican Americans to making organizations to unite
and help everyone. Going on strikes so their voices can be heard. Although, the
Chicano Movement was a movement in order for Mexican Americans to get civil
rights not everyone in the Movement had a voice. For example, Chicanas. They
were being silent and didn t have the same rights as Chicanos. They didn t have the
right to decide if they want to use birth controls, that was being decided for them.
Also, during the blowouts in East Los Angeles there were many women who were
leaders during these blowouts and their voices weren t being heard just because
they were woman. In the reading, Political Roots of Chicano Discourse by Silvio
Torres Saillant mentions an important key leader of the Chicano Movement, this
key leader is Rodolfo Corky Gonzales. He is famous for writing the poem I Am
Joaquin in 1967 that was written for the Chicano Movement. Rodolfo Gonzales had
many passions in his life, he was enrolled in college but wasn t able to continue his
education so he went on to work on other things. Silvio Torres Saillant mentions, he
founded Denver s Crusade for Justice, an organization dedicated to providing social
services, cultural programs, and leadership
Summary Of The Big Game
The Big Game Brr! It s freezing cold! I woke up, it was just about 6:20 when I
woke up to my alarm buzzing. I went straight to brush my teeth first after realizing I
had showered the night before. Afterwards I put on my pants and my school shirt I
then scurried down stairs, and I ate the usually Kellogg s Frosted Flakes. Oh know it
was already 6:50, which meant one thing. I only have 20 minutes to watch ESPN. I
dashed to living room and tried to turn on the television, but I couldn t find it. I
searched frantically. Then it hit me I screamed, at the top of my lungs, Aima .
She screamed, what.

How much longer I thought it felt like forever before we finally pulled u p at Ohio
Nets. Since we had not had dinner we debated over whether we should get
something from the concession stand. After a couple minutes of bickering my
family decided to get some hotdogs and chips. I ate my dinner, I and walked over
to talk to my other teammates. We talked about school and other sports, but then
finally started talking about the real topic which was the game. The team that we
would face would be very lanky and masculine. They were also athletic,as well as
us. But the real question would we be able to keep up with their pace and be able to
defend their height.
As warm ups started I began to feel a weird feeling in my stomach. I had never
been affected by the people around but I guess now I was actually scared. After
warm ups we huddled up we were given a quick speech, and told us that we did not
need to be as physically gifted as they were but we needed to be able to have the
heart to overcome the challenge. The game began we started of in a hole. The team
was winning 10 4. They were not better than us they just were getting in our heads,
and making us make the wrong decisions.I sighed in disbelief when a boy named
Ethan on my team accidently shot on the other team s basket. At halftime it was 23
14 with us losing. We were all looking down in the dumps. Since everyone didn t
look to happy I tried to cheer them up,but that didn t work.
The Importance Of Physical Activity In Education
Ask any teacher what the most valuable part to their day is and they will say time.
There is truly never enough time in the day to complete all the necessary tasks
brought forward by the educational system. Teachers are urged to maximize their
teaching time as much as possible with little to none physical activity breaks. Even
though there are many unanswered questions about physical activity, the one that
continues to present itself is, what is considered the optimal amount of time for
physical activity during the school day? In the current study where Howie, Schatz,
and Pate investigate physical activity and academic achievement, findings have
suggested that when physical activity breaks are incorporated into the school day,
there is an improvement in cognitive ability, however they did not state the amount of
time spent on physical activity (Howie, Schatz, Pate,2015). Although these findings
are quite convincing, educators are still expected involve more curriculum that
focuses on standardized testing and decrease physical activity breaks throughout the
school day. Next topic to be discussed, is research regarding physical activity and
those with developmental disabilities. While this research is rare, finding by recent
researchers reveal that children with disabilities engaged in more physical activity,
than their regular education peers. As stated in the study, the current recommendation
for school aged children is for them to accumulate at least 60 minutes

In the movie Back to the Future part II, Dock goes to Marty s house and parks his
flying car in Marty s driveway. Just before they leave to head off into the future,
Doc rummages through Marty s trash. In there he finds waded up paper bags, a
banana peel, and a partially filled beer can. Doc then inserts the trash that he finds
into the top of the engine component of his flying car. Immediately after doing so,
they hover off into the future. This particular scene in Back to the future basically
communicates that a vehicle such as Docs car, can use organic waste as fuel and that
it can do so immediately after placing trash into its engine component. While it
would be extremely convenient and cost effective for society to be able to walk
into their garage, grab some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be
able to be on the road in real time, the idea is not in fact completely real and is
partially science fiction. There is a scientific process known as gasification a process
for converting garbage into fuel and electricity without incinerating it Bullis
(2009). This must take place in order for everything to work. This process is timely
and requires spacious waste management facilities before a usable product is
produced. The first thing to do is to separate the usable organic trash from the non
usable waste. Organic usable trash is considered to be carbon based and will work in
converting to fuel. Once all organic materials
Persuasive Essay On Water Of Water
Introduction The use of chemicals in a school environment cause several issues in
not only our health, but our watersheds as well. The chemicals in use in our school
are those that cause damage to our health, they cause this damage with ingredients
that are not completely user friendly. A watershed is a drainage basin, which is a
natural depression in the earth s surface, usually containing water, and a divider
that separates different areas. Here in Colorado we have two main watersheds, but
we also have several streams considered watersheds. We are in the Cache La
Poudre watershed. A watershed is the transport of different water and it is what is
used to drain water into other basins, or oceans or any bigger water masses. It has
stream valleys that bring water to other bodies of water, in which evaporate and
return to the top. This is a constant stream in which is basically recycling water, so
we want to keep the water healthy and ready for us to use. In a certain quote, we
understand the dangers of what we do to our watersheds with urbanization, flooding
becomes more prevalent as the area of impervious surfaces increase. (Perlman,
2016). This quote is saying that the more surface area that was given, such as
parking lots, the more runoff comes from our flooding periods. This could be a
danger in our school environment, because we use several chemicals as cleaners. I
found greener cleaning supplies from not only our current distributor, but one of
distributor that
North African Slave Trade
This map shows that the major slave trading nations were located in North Africa,
Europe with Spain and England as the major countries, the Arabian Peninsula with
Mecca, Shihr and Aden as the greater ones, and the Ottoman Empire. These slave
traders begin their journey from Europe to Africa to exchange goods for slaves. Then
they crossed the Atlantic to the cost of South America, the East cost of North
America and Central America. This was the notorious Middle Passage. Slave labor
helped produce cotton, tobacco and dyestuffs in Southern US.
The African slave trade differed from other slavery in the world by size, which was
the largest transportation of human beings in world history. By its racial character

Review Of The Jati
Aaron Thomas
Nancey Moore
HIS 111 4106

The Jati
Thousands of years ago in Asia, a book was written that gave social structure that
would go on through the ages in India. Today that social structure is called the Jati or
in English words, the Caste system. While it has undergone a few changes here and
there, the system has relatively been unchanged and just like thousands of years ago
when it was first introduced in the Vedas, it exists in modern day India as a part of
society in it. This paper will go over a more detailed explanation of the Jati as well
as the classes and books that defined the Jati system, most notably the Laws of
Mandu . Jati translates to caste so in English it is called the Caste system. In the
Jati system there are four main castes one falls under: Shudra, Viasya, Kshatryia
and Bhramin. Outside of the caste system are the outcasts or also called
untouchables. Within these main four castes there are thousands of subcastes a
group of people will fall under. One important thing to note where unlike most
social classes of ancient time, in the Jati system, it is possible to move up in the
caste. While a subcaste may not move up as an individually, the entire group can
move up. So while there is subcaste A and subcaste B. While Subcaste B is
currently higher up on the caste it is possibly for subcaste A as a whole to move up
above subcaste B. This is the beauty of the Jati system, groups are not permanently
logged into one place
Essay on Understanding Ourselves in the Age of the Internet
Understanding Ourselves in the Age of the Internet
In her book, Life on Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet, author Sherry Turkle
explains the effect technology has on the way individuals view themselves, and how
this relates to the growth of postmodernist thinking. According to Turkle, the rapid
expansion of network technology, specifically the Internet, is responsible for
introducing millions of people to new spaces and ways of interactivity with one
another.
This revolutionary method for relating to others is swiftly changing how we view our
minds, our sexual interactions, the forms of our communities, and even our own
identities (Turkle 9). In the excerpts selected for our class reading, Turkle cites

In its most basic form, however, modernism can be most closely associated with the
traditional world view dominant since the Enlightenment, and is described in terms
of linearity, logicality, and hierarchical thought (Turkle 17). Modernist reality is
perceived as definitive and objective, defined by a firm set of rules and roles that
support a centralized narrative, or concept of truth. In this philosophy, the self is
characterized as a solid autonomous being, our most basic reality, making it simple to
identify and resist any departure from society s definition of normalcy (Turkle 261).
Within the last forty years, a poststructuralist response developed to the modernist
ideology and gained the official academic title, postmodernism. This philosophy
serves as a direct contrast to modernism, embracing the idea of a decentered, multi
faceted self that consists of fragmented but coherent parts. There is no definitive truth
to these interconnections, making reality and human identity fluid and capable of
transitioning between numerous nonlinear concepts (Turkle 17). In postmodern
reality, disjointed ideas receive meaning through their relationships to each other; the
presence of thought becoming just as significant as what is noticeably lacking. The
multiplicity of meaning and truth in the postmodern environment makes identity
opaque, allusive, and dense, but also presents the opportunity for remarkable diversity.
Why Is It Important To Establish A Novel On A Rare And...
Some things are so meaningful to us that we do not have the courage to share it
with other, and would rather keep it our own secret. I believe that what Hazel
means when she says there are books so special and rare and yours that advertising
your affection feels like a betrayal (Green 33), is that there are books that some
keep as possessions due to the fact that they are so rare and special for us that if we
were to tell anyone about it, everyone would eventually know about it. Letting
people in on your rare and special secret means telling people about your rare
possession, which would no long be rare as everyone would know about it. An
Imperial Affliction holds a special place in Hazel s heart for many reasons, however,
the two most important reasons are:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When something is valuable to you, you do not like sharing about it and it sharing
about it means you have to share your feelings, thoughts, and emotions with
someone else. The book presents her life, as the main character Anna also battles
cancer. However, she does not hesitate sharing this with Augustus because he
already knows what it feels like to battle cancer. One of the many reasons that
Hazel feels a connection with this book is due to the fact that her favorite book
describes what death feels like without dying. Anna, the main character in An
Imperial Affliction, says that she is the side effect, which Hazel agrees to. Hazel
feels as the book is only meant for her, as she understands how Anna might have
felt when battling cancer. She is able to relate to the character so much that she is
believed that the author is the only person who can truly know what it feels like to
leave your family behind when you die. Hazel reads the book over and over again, as
she is able to escape the reality and live a life through
Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Denandian Welfare
Model
International economics assignment 2
Compare and contrast the key elements of the Danish welfare model, with that of the
Central European welfare model.
A welfare state is something most rich and developed industrialised countries have.
They are usually divided into three different categories; The liberal welfare model
also known as the Anglo Saxon or residual, the central European welfare model also
known as the continental or insurance based and the Scandinavian or universal
welfare model.
In Denmark we have the Scandinavian welfare model also known as the universal
welfare model. Denmark, or the north s welfare system is very different from the
rest of the world, because of the high provision of social services. The Danish
welfare model has a very high provision of social services, meaning that education
and healthcare is free for everybody. The social services also include monthly
financial subsidizes, when out of work (kontanthjælp), when taking an education
(SU), child support and much more.

The Scandinavian welfare model, is usually criticized for having a very high tax
burden. Because healthcare, education etc. is free for everybody we pay a high very
high tax. Some argue it s a very good thing because by doing so, we ensure to help
the weakest in society so that nobody is left behind, and by so keeping our society
as efficient as possible. This leads to a very safe society, where most people thrive
because they aren t desperate for the basic needs like a home and sustenance.
On the other hand, this high tax burden has been criticized by economists, because
it might slow down the economic growth, and competitive opportunity. If people
can stay at home and receive almost the same salary as if they were working, it will
make society much more inefficient, and people tend to work less because it simply
won t pay
Workplace Intervention On Work Family Conflict
INTRODUCTION The increasing need for efficiency in a globalized economy has
been challenging for workers in general. Demanding supervisors, tough tasks and
some organizational rules are often seen as stressors by workers from different
fields. Ethic organizations sought to improve the work quality which leads to
performance in many ways. Lawson et al. (2016), studied the impact of workplace
intervention on work family conflict. These authors found a positive effect of
workplace intervention on improving affective reactivity behavior to daily stressors.
LePine, M. A., et al. (2015), suggests that charismatic leader behaviors considered
challenge stressors as more challenging, and showed a tendency to react to it with
superior performance. On the other hand, leader s charismatic trait did not impact the
way hindrance stressors were appraised. Stressors have been strongly associated with
bullying at the workplace (Reknes, Einarsen, Knardahl, Lau, 2014). Although recent
academic work has focused on negative stressors outcomes (Van Den Brande,
Baillien, De Witte, Vander Elst, Godderis, 2016), there is evidence that both adverse
and constructive aspects of stressors must be addressed (e.g., Boswell, Olson
Buchanan, LePine, 2004; Cavanaugh, Boswell, Roehling, Boudreau, 2000; LePine,
Podsakoff, LePine, 2005). This work aims to clarify the extent to which challenge and
hindrance stressors affect performance and job satisfaction. I expect to find that

Hydrate Lab
The results of the experiment show that the mass of the hydrate decreases as the
temperature increases. In the Hydrate Lab, this was found when every single time
the hydrate was heated, the mass got lower, but slowly for this specific
experiment. When it was heated, all the water was disappearing. This fact can also
be defended when Weiner, Susan A., and Edward L Peters states, Upon heating, the
water can be evaporated leaving an anhydrous salt (para.3). The purpose of this lab
is to determine the percent composition of water in a hydrate and to calculate the
number of moles of water found in the hydrated salt. The formula of Hydrated salt
was MgCl2 2H20, which is what was needed to plug numbers in to get percent
composition. The moisture

Essays On Cars

  • 1. Essays On Cars Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays On Cars" can be both challenging and intriguing. On one hand, cars are a ubiquitous part of modern life, and there is a vast amount of information available on various aspects such as history, technology, environmental impact, and societal implications. On the other hand, the sheer breadth of the topic can make it daunting to narrow down and focus on specific aspects. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between technical details and broader societal perspectives. If the essay leans too heavily on technical aspects, it may alienate readers who are not familiar with automotive engineering. Conversely, focusing solely on societal aspects might oversimplify the complexity of the subject. Moreover, keeping the essay engaging and avoiding a dry recitation of facts is crucial. Injecting a personal touch, anecdotes, or exploring controversial viewpoints can make the essay more captivating. Crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is another task, as they should frame the essay's content effectively and leave a lasting impression. Researching for up-to-date and credible sources is a time-consuming aspect. The automotive industry is constantly evolving with technological advancements, environmental concerns, and shifting consumer preferences. Staying current with the latest information is vital to produce an essay that reflects the contemporary landscape. In summary, while the topic "Essays On Cars" offers a broad canvas to explore, navigating the nuances of technical details, societal impact, and maintaining reader engagement can make writing such an essay a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. And for those seeking assistance or more insights on similar essays, a helpful resource is available at HelpWriting.net, where a variety of topics and writing services are offered. • 2. Jack The Ripper Case With the passage of time, the list of possible suspects has grown to nearly a hundred people, with about a dozen serious candidates accused of being Jack the Ripper. It seems that the professionals working on the case back in 1888 were never able to attach enough physical evidence to build a case leading to the arrest of the abhorrent murderer. Along with lack of physical evidence, eyewitness reports proved inconclusive. In Richard Jones website Jack the Ripper1888, he also provides a PDF file of the critical and still circulated memorandum written by the Assistant Chief Constable for the CID in 1894 by Sir Melville MacNaghten naming the three prime suspects as Mr. M. J. Druitt, Aaron Kosminski, and Michael Ostrog. (Jones) In later reports
  • 3. Parasailing Short Story Parasailing Sailing over a hundred feet above blue waters sounds incredible, right? Well, I have it was honestly the most terrifying and thrilling thing I have ever done. I got onto the ship to get to the bigger bout and thoughts started to creep into my head like a shark was going to attack me, or I was going to drown. My heart was beating at least 200 beats per second. Too start off this great story, I got up in the morning of a sunny and bright day at the beach. I was at my Aunt Lorraine s and she was like Shadee, do you want to do something crazy. So, I said Yes, of course, I would love to! Before we went to find something too do we went and got breakfast, and picked up my grandmother. Meanwhile sitting at the beach, we saw this yellow banana looking raft going across the ocean. I asked, What the heck is that. They replied, I have no idea. As my Grammy Kim got up, we all got up. My Aunt Rainy asked, Where are you going. Kim said, To see where those boats are taking them. While, we walking we found out the yellow raft is called a banana boat. Which was extremely ironic. We laugh for at least ten minutes. It was so hilarious. The banana boat was taking people to a bigger boat called the Captain. I said, Can we go parasailing or just ride the Banana Boat? As a man started walking up to us he said, Hi, my name is Seth. I work for the Banana Boat and parasailing company. Are you guy interested in riding any of
  • 4. Understanding the Concept of Citizenship Citizenship is a broad term in which has been changed and morphed into a general ideal of a person s belonging to certain state. Although throughout history citizenship has preserved a sturdy ethical link to justice, liberty and democracy. This debate is formed around the ideas of what a person bearing should be in society. Aristotle describes the citizen as One who has a share in both the ruling and being ruled this idea of having input into the running of the state can seen impossible and unimaginable due to citizenship status or government in which the state relays power into. Citizenship defined in a political viewpoint is said to be a series of rights and responsibilities that involve an individual as a member of a political community. This includes, social, economic, civic and political duties and rights. As a member of the state all people have the right to be a citizen, with being a citizen comes these rights and liberties. But this is part of the problem, people who are not legally seen, as citizens are not recognized by the state there placement, treatment and rights become blurred. When defining citizenship we also need to look at other surrounding areas that contribute to the ideal itself such as assimilation, nationality, cultural identity, social integration and the other side of the spectrum, stateless citizenship. Does citizenship provide cultural identity, nationality or just a legal standpoint in which you can physically and legally belong to a country
  • 5. Architecture Of Internet Application For Cloud Computing Figure: 1.1: Architecture of Internet application in cloud computing [4] As each server machine can host multiple application so it is important that application should be stateless for the reason that every application store their position information in backend storage servers, so that is repeated safely but it may cause storage servers becomes overloaded but the focus of proposed work is on application tire presenting a architecture is representative of a huge place of internet services hosted in the cloud computing environment even through providing infinite capacity on demand. Moreover, on demand provisioning provides a cost efficient way for already running businesses to cope with unpredictable spikes in the workload. Nevertheless, an efficient scalability for an Internet application in the cloud requires a broad knowledge of several areas, such as scalable architectures, scalability components in the cloud, and the parameters of scalability components. With the increase in numbers and size of on line communities are increasing effort to exploit cross functionalities across these communities. However, application service providers have encountered problems due to the irregular demand for their applications, especially when external events can lead to unprecedented traffic levels to and from their application [5]. Dynamic nature of demand and traffic forces require for an extremely scalable explanation to enable the availability
  • 6. Analysis Of Guiding Mirrors In Jane Eyre Guiding Mirrors In the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«, Bertha serves as a primary obstacle in the novel, as her marriage to Rochester is a hindrance to Jane s emotional fulfillment and happiness. Bertha is depicted as a violent and insane woman who is kept hidden in an attic throughout the novel. Bertha s rage eventually leads her to burn Thornfield, in which Rochester loses an eye and severely injures himself. Despite the portrayal of Bertha as an inherently monstrous figure, it almost seems as though oppression by a male dominated society has fueled the destructive rage she comes to embody in the novel. This rage in Bertha is a manifestation of Jane s passion and independent nature, which seems to serve as a guiding force for Jane on her journey towards autonomy. Through the ominous characterization of Bertha coupled with the positive impact her actions have on Jane, BrontГ« explores gender inequality in an Victorian era and seems to suggest that passionate and independent women in male dominated environments are deprived of their femininity and may even be dehumanized. Bertha s presence acts as an obstacle for Rochester and Jane s marriage, and therefore a hindrance to Jane s quest for emotional fulfillment. BrontГ« achieves an obstructive characterization of Bertha by using animal imagery to describe her throughout the novel. In fact, one of the very first descriptions of Bertha reveals she has a savage face with lips swelled and dark and bloodshot eyes who
  • 7. Difference Between Transgender And Transgender According to Merriam Webster, gender is defined as the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex . It is typical for our society to combine sex and gender as if it is the same thing, which it is not. Sex is biological, the makeup of your chromosomes. Gender, however, can be relative. A person can be the female sex but identify as the male gender, and vice versa. This topic is where we see individuals identifying as transsexual and transgender. Susan Scutti (2014) explains the difference between the two. Scutti explains that transsexuals are people who transition from one sex to another. An individual can be born as a male and then become recognizably female (and vice versa) through the use of hormones and/or surgical procedures. Scutti also explains that transsexuals are unable to change their genetics and cannot acquire the reproductive abilities of the sex to which they transition. This is because sex, as I explained, is assigned at birth and refers to a person s biological status as male or female. Each of us is born as either male or female, with rare exceptions of those born intersex who may display characteristics of both sexes at birth. Scutti explains that transgender, then, unlike transsexual, is like an umbrella term. One example of a transgendered person might be a man who is attracted to women but also identifies as a cross dresser. Other examples include people who consider themselves gender nonconforming, multigendered,
  • 8. Traditional Voting In America Introduction Most democratic societies are fueled by the power of the people and when the opportunity to use that power is removed you should expect rash repercussions. History has displayed that time and time again. America being the long time democratic leader of the free world has seen many instances where groups within the population felt like their votingrights weren t being respected. America as a nation has slightly overcame those struggles but currently there are still many obstacles between the average voter and actually casting a vote. Many problems include lack of time, lack of convenience, lack of knowledge, and more. To combat this we have explored the alternatives to the traditional voting in a booth method that is so popular... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many jobs require people to travel thus disqualifying them from voting where they are registered. People with disabilities have a hard time getting to the polls and are not always given special accommodation from the government in order to ensure they are able to vote. It is also inconvenient for elderly people to get the polls in order to vote for things that directly affect them. Because of this, issues regarding raising minimum wage for the working class, rights for people with disabilities, and Social Security are not reflected in the polls. In a democratic society, it is important to have representation of all citizens. Unfortunately, the current voting system is a way to subconsciously disenfranchise certain

  • 11. I Am A Monk From A Small Church Hello my fellow Christians. I come to you today in deep personal peril. I have built my career making Icon frames my entire life. I once felt I was helping people seek refuge with our glorious god. Connecting them to not just to our holy saints but also to Christ himself. Yet now I stand wondering if I have strayed them wrong. Have I sent my fellow men, woman, and even children to damnation while I profit. I am a monk before an artisan, yet I may have cursed my fellow followers to hell. This is why I am here, I want find out if what I have been doing helping or hurting innocent souls, and if so to repent my sins. I look toward you all and ask that you look at this with not your minds or wallets, but instead with our souls and look toward god for guidance. In these trying times we need him more then ever I am not a very educated man; I am a monk from a small church in Constantinople. I make religious object, including icon frames to help myself and others connect to god. I make very intricate frames with precious metals, such as gold, and jewels for churches (Carr pp. 195) but I also make simple ones for the peasants to have in their homes. I take time making sure each frame, no matter how simple, highlights the holiness of who ever is depicted in the icon. When I view the final work, I always viewed it as a celebration of the person, especially Christ. I look at it a remember Christ s sacrifices for my sins and the rest of this world filled with sins of every kind. When

Ai Hollywood Research Paper The Art Institution of Hollywood (AI Hollywood) is a good fit for me due to its strong fashion marketing curriculum combined with the diversity of the student body, as well as the accessibility of fashion professional networking opportunities. I was impressed with AI Hollywood s energetic learning environment while visiting the campus during this summer. I graduated from Saint Louis University with a concentration in international business. As an academic major, international business fits both my personality and my professional aspirations. I initially caught the international business bug at an American private high school, where my circle of friends and I would exchange ethnic foods and teach each other our home languages. I try to consciously broaden my career goals and chances by not limiting myself geographically and be able to respond better to market needs. My education experience in AI Hollywood can help me to learn or improve skills that are helpful to my career goals. In the next five years, my goal is to find a position at a fashion company where I can use and take on new challenges over time. In the next ten years, I wish that I could engage in independent studio operation and fashion media. While I am focused on success, I am also commercially aware of the present climate within the fashion industry. According to research from the Hong Kong Institute of Fashion Buying, China s consumers of luxury and high fashion are between 20 and 50 years old. Due to the implicit and abstract nature of the traditional culture, there are basically no fashion marketing and management. Thus, there is an increasing need for professional fashion mangers. I might have some shortcoming of research on fashion magazines in its depth, paradigm and so on. I believe that AI Hollywood, with its academic excellency and cultural diversity, is a place for me to sharpen my personal skills and expand my knowledge to fulfill my dream to become future fashion manager. I envision myself using the values, knowledge and skills that I acquire at
  • 13. Summary Of The End Of Men By Hanna Rosin Women are Rising In The End of Men?, an article featured in The Atlantic in summer 2010, author Hanna Rosin illustrates the drastic, ascending shifts perceived in modern society. Rosin poises the theory of how men were traditionally seen as the superior gender. The author believes there is a contractionary shift in genderroles and that the new era is [B]etter suited to women (Rosin 304). Recent studies show that women are becoming prominent in the workforce, education, and family. Accordingly, she explains how women are miraculously able to balance work while nurturing their children. Rosin believes that this occurs because men are not biologically made to tend children. Additionally, Rosin analyses how men lost 8 million jobs during the Great Recession (Rosin 306). During that time, women were becoming what made a majority of the workforce. There were increases in women s presence in what used to be male dominated fields: school, politics, and business. Rosin questions this drastic shift concerning women and men s roles in society, stating how they are now equally competing for jobs. Moreover, the way women behave now show their commendable abilities in the workforce and how society is changing as they establish their dominance and authority everyday. Once, women were frowned upon, but nowadays, more people favor having girls than boys. Today s era is commending women with their admirable work ethic and self worth. Throughout most of history, men dominated the
  • 14. Robert Smithson Plural Jetty Essay Robert Smithson s Spiral Jetty is a 3ft. 6 in. x 15 ft. x 1,500 ft. Earthwork located in Great Salt Lake, Utah. It was created in April 1970. Located where the rails of the first transcontinental railroad met, it sits near the Golden Spike monument; making it an actual landscape. It s a giant counterclockwise spiral sculpture made of black rock, earth, algae, and salt crystals. It is said that Smithson used dump trucks and bulldozers to haul in 6,650 tons of earth and rocks to complete the Spiral Jetty. In a 32 minute short color film, he recorded the construction of the Spiral Jetty. Smithson had to acquire land rights, before completing it. Virginia Dwan Gallery of New York gave Smithson a $9,000 grant for a part of the Spiral Jetty s construction. The rest was financed over a 20 years lease at payments of $100 annually. The first phase of building the Spiral Jetty took about 6 days to complete. Smithson was not completely satisfied with it initially and spent another 3 days changing the shape. 7,000 tons of rock had to be moved during these 3 additional days of work. Smithson died 3 years after completing the Spiral Jetty. It is now owned by the state of Utah, who acquired it in 2011.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Biography Of William Edward Burghart Dubois Essay Intro/Education/Work: William Edward Burghart DuBois, more commonly known as W.E.B. DuBois, was born February 23, 1868. Raised in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, he grew up in what was considered to be a moderately well integrated and tolerant community. His mother s family was included in the miniscule population of free black peoplebecause of this, he was certainly considered privileged as opposed to people of color who were much less fortunate or who lived in highly segregated communities. • 16. Pyramid Lake War of 1860 One of the biggest conflicts between the settlers and Indians in Nevada was the Pyramid Lake Indian war of 1860. The war and deaths that followed was a result of tension, ignorance, anti Indian attitude and misunderstanding. The war was preceded by violent incidents against both the whites and Indians and consisted of two larger battles. The Washoe and Paiutetribe s lives changed with the influx of settlers that came with the Comstock mining rush. Nevada being a desert had limited resources and the settlers came in and started using them without care. The whites cut down pine trees that were a food source to the tribes, they dug big holes while mining for minerals, and they hunted the game of the area. The use of these limited resources caused tension between the whites and the Indians and settlers. Several murders of whites, including two men McMullen and McWilliams, were widely blamed on Paiutes. The lack of effective government in the area meant that there was no formal judicial response to these incidents, leading to private retribution and a general atmosphere of fear and distrust. In the case of McMullen and McWilliams the Washoe Indians were framed for murder. McMullen was headed to California to gather supplies, when he and McWilliams were murdered by their campfire. Both men had been shot and arrows had been inserted into their wounds. Everyone blamed the Indians for the murder of the two men. When asked how they knew it was the Indians they said, We know,

He considered the kick taker, the distance of the kick being taken, the result of the take kick and the accuracy of the kick in measuring goal scoring abilities. Furthermore, Berry mentioned in his study that the NFL presently only rank the kick takers by their successful percentage of kicks taken rather than an overall measure of their kicking performance which should include the distance of the kick. If we look at the parameters included and the parameters excluded there is a potential difference to the accuracy measurement of Berry s goal kicking model. While the other factors are not relevant in this regard, they explained why winning teams outperform losing teams in a basketball match. Another study by Lopez et al., (2011) which examined only shot attempts showed that not all shots can be classified as equally difficult because of the location and conditions of the taken shot. How players can improve in this area was discussed by Miller Bartlett (1996). They stated that players should be tasked with trying shots from a number of locations on the court in order to help their shooting. In other words, one of the conditions could be the defensive pressure applied by the opposing team. The Pharaohs Of The 18th Dynasty Since the first Ancient Egyptian, Pharaoh Menes, placed himself on the throne, the pharaohs were considered to be both divine deities as well as mortal rulers. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines prophet as a member of some religion who delivers messages that are believed to have come from God Did that make Pharaoh Amenhotep IV aka Akhenatena prophet? Defying centuries of traditional worship of the Egyptians, the mid 14th century BCE Pharaoh Akhenaten decreed during his reign that his subjects were to worship only one god; the sun disk Aten. Was this a direct message from the gods or were there other political reasons at play. The pharaohs of the 18th dynasty 1550 1307 BCE had expanded Egypt s wealth; conquering Palestine, Syria, plus securing the gold mines of Nubia, which made her the wealthiest country in the world. With 2,000 years of experience behind her, Egyptian forces were able to push back the Hittites, Libyans, and other tribes who stood in the way of their development. Amongst the progression was Amun, a major Egyptian deity, who after the rebellion of Thebes against the Hyksos, became heightened after his fusion with the Sun god, Ra, as Amun Re. It seems to be that opinion and not based on the facts of what is required of a sport to be called a sport. Once again the argument can be made that games are things that require skill but not necessarily athleticism. Motocross requires both and then some, thus it is a sport! There are different kinds of trustwhich is trust in family, trust in friends, and how fragile trust really is. The construction of the picture space, impeccably correct from a mathematical point of view, is characterized, first, by the extreme shortness of the perspective distance which, if the room were drawn to natural scale, would amount to only about four feet; second, by the lowness of the horizon which is determined by the eye level of the seated Saint; third, by the eccentric position of the vanishing point which is little more than half a centimeter from the right margin. The shortness of the distance, combined with the lowness of the horizon strengthens the feeling of intimacy. However, the vanishing point prevents the small room from looking cramped and box like because the north wall is not visible; it gives greater distinction to the play of light on the embrasures of the windows; and it suggests the experience of casually entering a private room rather than of facing an artificially arranged stage. Finally, Durer himself christened his engraving; with the inscription В‘Melencolia . So how come there are so many kinds of different breads: crunchy baguette, chewy bagel, soft rolls...? Proper manipulation of these same ingredients can result with large variety of breads. If you add some more fat, sugar and eggs to this mixture, you will make enriched yeast dough. Making Yeast Doughs There are nine basic steps in making yeast dough: 1.Scaling the Ingredients It is important to measure ingredients accurately and it is preferable to have them at the proper temperature. All ingredients combined and well kneaded should reach 25ВєC. The amount of flour may vary depending on the humidity level and the amount of protein in the flour. Flour with more protein will absorb more water. 2.Mixing and Kneading the Dough The yeast dough must be kneaded properly so the ingredients are combined uniformly and the gluten is developed. There are several methods of mixing the yeast dough. Straight Dough Method is the simplest and the most common method of mixing yeast dough. Yeast is firs dissolved in water, and then it is added to flour and salt mixture. After that dough id kneaded until smooth and elastic. Sponge Method has two stages. The Problems Faced By Sarbanes Oxley The second problem is public companies have always had to put up with more regulations than private ones because they encourage ordinary people to risk their capital. After the 2007 2008 financial crisis the regulatory burden has become heavier. America has introduced new rules, from the 2002 Sarbanes Oxley legislation on accounting to the Dodd Frank financial regulations of 2010. Sarbanes Oxley increased the annual cost of complying with securities law from $1.1 million per company to roughly $2.8 million. The third problem is growing short termism. The capital markets have increased their power dramatically with the rise of huge institutional investors and intensification of shareholder activism. Mutual funds count their money in trillions rather than billions. Hedge funds are not afraid to take on corporate Goliaths such as McDonald s and Time Warner if they think they are failing. The average life expectancy of public companies shrank from 65 years in the 1920s to less than ten in the 1990s. The life expectancy of CEOs has also fell from 8.1 years in 2000 to 6.3 years in 2009. Investors have to right to fire managers because they own the company. Companies have to find a balance between the short and long term, satisfying the market s demand for profits today, while planning for the future. Owners and regulators seem to be making it harder for bosses to look beyond quarterly earnings and board are devoting less time to strategy and more enforcing regulations. France s

In Confessions, Augustine himself professed that it was the Platonic books that enabled him to attach himself to his God. However, it is evident that Augustine re augmented much of the Platonic thoughts and, combining them with the early Christian doctrines, configured the hybridinto what became the foundation of Catholicism. The differences as well as similarities that exist between the two thought systems can be dissected from two points: the nature of the metaphysical supreme One and its relationships with the Many. At the heart of Platonism is the concept of eidos, or Forms: the theory of an absolute and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept is akin to the Hindu doctrine of Atman, the Cosmic Soul that is the ultimate Being; while Platonic material world is similar to the Hindu idea of Maya the World of Illusions that is made by the materialization of the Invisible. It can be seen as a unified collection of isolated eidos, much like how thousands of different colors are in the end dissolved into an eternal shade of gray. Or it can also be understood as the Form of Being. In a sense, this God is a mathematical concept: Infinity. Centuries later, Augustine incorporated Plato s half hidden pantheism into the foundation of the monotheistic Catholic Church. Though both metaphysical entities are the cause of physical existence, the Platonic One is passive while the Christian God of Augustine can be defined through his action of Creating. This consideration is also adequate as set up by the precedent in Chappell amp; Co Ltd v Nestle Co Ltd which shows that consideration must have some value, just as the timber, and the promised $30,000 have some value and as both parties are seen to gain some benefit from the exchange. The Era Of The American Civil War After the American Civil War, a laissez faire government allowed for a new class of businessmen to rise to power: those who dominated an entire industry, sometimes several markets. They were the hallmark of the so called Gilded Age, which lasted from the end of reconstruction until the early 1900s. These men, known as Robber Barons, shaped the American economy, necessitating new laws to be signed to limit their power . Although there were only four main Barons (John D. One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who will do no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The other, as evil, conniving creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths. Long before there were mermaids ,some 4,000 years ago, there was Ea, the Babylonian God of the sea. Let s first start by defining what Health is: it s the state of being sound or whole, in the body, mind, or soul; especially being free from physical disease or pain. There are so many different kinds of health: ranging from physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and so forth. Now, a lifestyle is the pattern of habits you decide to pursue in your life. What most people misinterpret about a healthy lifestyle is that it s not just about eating healthy foods or working out at the gym, but rather the pattern of healthy habits that you create that sustains your personal well being. In 2016, 92.5% of Canadians aged 12 and older (27.3 million people) reported that they were satisfied or very satisfied with their life. While this number remained unchanged for females in the previous year, Males experienced a slight reduction in life satisfaction compared to 2015. So how are the different kinds of health linked together? The fact is that your physical health effects your mental health, while your spiritual health affects your emotional health and so on. So let s pretend that you started seeing someone you like, now although your physical health might be at its prime, if your emotional health isn t justifiably high either then you would experience at some point unhappiness and discomfort with your life regardless of which person you decide to be with. How much force is necessary is determined by your distance from the goal. Halfway in between these two extremes would be a 45 degree angle. Your distance from the goal and the release height of your shot determine the ideal launch angle for a slow moving ball at the rim. The closer you are to the basket, the higher your launch angle will be. Shooting is an optimization process. There is truly never enough time in the day to complete all the necessary tasks brought forward by the educational system. Teachers are urged to maximize their teaching time as much as possible with little to none physical activity breaks. Even though there are many unanswered questions about physical activity, the one that continues to present itself is, what is considered the optimal amount of time for physical activity during the school day? While it would be extremely convenient and cost effective for society to be able to walk into their garage, grab some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be able to be on the road in real time, the idea is not in fact completely real and is partially science fiction. The chemicals in use in our school are those that cause damage to our health, they cause this damage with ingredients that are not completely user friendly. A watershed is a drainage basin, which is a natural depression in the earth s surface, usually containing water, and a divider that separates different areas. Here in Colorado we have two main watersheds, but we also have several streams considered watersheds. We are in the Cache La Poudre watershed. Review Of The Jati Aaron Thomas Nancey Moore HIS 111 4106 9 September 2015 The Jati Thousands of years ago in Asia, a book was written that gave social structure that would go on through the ages in India. Today that social structure is called the Jati or in English words, the Caste system. While it has undergone a few changes here and there, the system has relatively been unchanged and just like thousands of years ago when it was first introduced in the Vedas, it exists in modern day India as a part of society in it. This paper will go over a more detailed explanation of the Jati as well as the classes and books that defined the Jati system, most notably the Laws of Mandu . Jati translates to caste so in English it is called the Caste system. In the Jati system there are four main castes one falls under: Shudra, Viasya, Kshatryia and Bhramin. Outside of the caste system are the outcasts or also called untouchables. Within these main four castes there are thousands of subcastes a group of people will fall under. One important thing to note where unlike most social classes of ancient time, in the Jati system, it is possible to move up in the caste. While a subcaste may not move up as an individually, the entire group can move up. So while there is subcaste A and subcaste B. While Subcaste B is currently higher up on the caste it is possibly for subcaste A as a whole to move up above subcaste B. This is the beauty of the Jati system, groups are not permanently logged into one place

In its most basic form, however, modernism can be most closely associated with the traditional world view dominant since the Enlightenment, and is described in terms of linearity, logicality, and hierarchical thought (Turkle 17). Modernist reality is perceived as definitive and objective, defined by a firm set of rules and roles that support a centralized narrative, or concept of truth. In this philosophy, the self is characterized as a solid autonomous being, our most basic reality, making it simple to identify and resist any departure from society s definition of normalcy (Turkle 261). Within the last forty years, a poststructuralist response developed to the modernist ideology and gained the official academic title, postmodernism. This philosophy serves as a direct contrast to modernism, embracing the idea of a decentered, multi faceted self that consists of fragmented but coherent parts. There is no definitive truth to these interconnections, making reality and human identity fluid and capable of transitioning between numerous nonlinear concepts (Turkle 17). In postmodern reality, disjointed ideas receive meaning through their relationships to each other; the presence of thought becoming just as significant as what is noticeably lacking. The multiplicity of meaning and truth in the postmodern environment makes identity opaque, allusive, and dense, but also presents the opportunity for remarkable diversity.

Denmark, or the north s welfare system is very different from the rest of the world, because of the high provision of social services. The Danish welfare model has a very high provision of social services, meaning that education and healthcare is free for everybody. The social services also include monthly financial subsidizes, when out of work (kontanthjælp), when taking an education (SU), child support and much more. All of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Scandinavian welfare model, is usually criticized for having a very high tax burden. Because healthcare, education etc. is free for everybody we pay a high very high tax. Some argue it s a very good thing because by doing so, we ensure to help the weakest in society so that nobody is left behind, and by so keeping our society as efficient as possible. This leads to a very safe society, where most people thrive because they aren t desperate for the basic needs like a home and sustenance. On the other hand, this high tax burden has been criticized by economists, because it might slow down the economic growth, and competitive opportunity. If people can stay at home and receive almost the same salary as if they were working, it will make society much more inefficient, and people tend to work less because it simply won t pay
  • 58. Workplace Intervention On Work Family Conflict INTRODUCTION The increasing need for efficiency in a globalized economy has been challenging for workers in general. Demanding supervisors, tough tasks and some organizational rules are often seen as stressors by workers from different fields. Ethic organizations sought to improve the work quality which leads to performance in many ways. Lawson et al. (2016), studied the impact of workplace intervention on work family conflict. These authors found a positive effect of workplace intervention on improving affective reactivity behavior to daily stressors. LePine, M. A., et al. (2015), suggests that charismatic leader behaviors considered challenge stressors as more challenging, and showed a tendency to react to it with superior performance. On the other hand, leader s charismatic trait did not impact the way hindrance stressors were appraised. Stressors have been strongly associated with bullying at the workplace (Reknes, Einarsen, Knardahl, Lau, 2014). Although recent academic work has focused on negative stressors outcomes (Van Den Brande, Baillien, De Witte, Vander Elst, Godderis, 2016), there is evidence that both adverse and constructive aspects of stressors must be addressed (e.g., Boswell, Olson Buchanan, LePine, 2004; Cavanaugh, Boswell, Roehling, Boudreau, 2000; LePine, Podsakoff, LePine, 2005). This work aims to clarify the extent to which challenge and hindrance stressors affect performance and job satisfaction. I expect to find that Organizational
  • 59. Hydrate Lab The results of the experiment show that the mass of the hydrate decreases as the temperature increases. In the Hydrate Lab, this was found when every single time the hydrate was heated, the mass got lower, but slowly for this specific experiment. When it was heated, all the water was disappearing. This fact can also be defended when Weiner, Susan A., and Edward L Peters states, Upon heating, the water can be evaporated leaving an anhydrous salt (para.3). The purpose of this lab is to determine the percent composition of water in a hydrate and to calculate the number of moles of water found in the hydrated salt. The formula of Hydrated salt was MgCl2 2H20, which is what was needed to plug numbers in to get percent composition. The moisture
