Spare The Rod And Spoil The Child Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child" presents a unique set of
challenges that require a delicate balance of perspectives. This topic delves into the age-old
debate surrounding parenting styles and discipline, touching upon cultural, psychological, and
ethical dimensions. One must navigate through a myriad of opinions, drawing from historical
practices, modern parenting theories, and individual experiences to construct a well-rounded
argument.
Addressing the dichotomy between discipline and indulgence, the essay demands a nuanced
exploration of the impact of corporal punishment on a child's development. This involves
delving into psychological studies, examining the long-term effects of various disciplinary
approaches, and understanding the cultural context that shapes our attitudes toward child rearing.
It's crucial to acknowledge the fine line between instilling discipline and resorting to harsh
measures, fostering an environment where the child can learn and grow without fear.
Furthermore, the essay must grapple with societal expectations, questioning whether traditional
views on discipline still hold merit in contemporary times. In doing so, one has to consider the
evolving nature of familial structures, cultural shifts, and the ever-expanding body of research on
child psychology. Balancing these elements requires a careful synthesis of diverse perspectives,
making it a challenging but intellectually rewarding task.
The difficulty is compounded by the potential for emotional responses from readers who may
hold strong convictions on the matter. Sensitivity to varying viewpoints is essential, ensuring that
the essay neither alienates nor dismisses opposing beliefs. It is a delicate dance of presenting
evidence, fostering critical thinking, and respecting the diversity of opinions within the discourse.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child" is a complex
undertaking that demands a comprehensive exploration of historical, psychological, and cultural
facets. The challenge lies in navigating the nuances of discipline, acknowledging diverse
perspectives, and crafting a balanced argument that respects the complexity of the subject matter.
While it may be demanding, it offers an opportunity for intellectual growth and a deeper
understanding of the intricacies surrounding parenting and child development.

Analysis Of 2001 A Space Odyssey
In 1968, reputable director/producer Stanley Kubrick revolutionized the art of film
with his Arthur C. Clark collaboration, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The MGM film is
known for it s striking imagery mostly because, upon an audience member s first
viewing, it is the only thing that actually makes sense. After the second or third
viewing, though, one realizes that the story is something larger than life. Or at least it
is larger than the humanrace. 2001 tells the story of evolution and the future that
humans might eventually encounter. The plot of 2001: A Space Odysseyis complex.
The basic plot takes place after the human race finds a mysterious monolith buried
on the moon. A crew of astronauts, the main of which are Dr. Dave Bowman,
played by Keir Dullea, and Dr. Frank Poole, played by Gary Lockwood, set out on
a mission to the outer moons of Jupiter. With them is the artificial intelligence
computer, H.A.L. 9000, which controls all of the functions of the ship, including
the life support systems holding part of the still hibernating crew. After a series of
events that lead Dr. Bowman and Dr. Poole to believe Hal is malfunctioning,
relations between human and computer become hostile. The function of this film is
not to portray computers as evil beings. 2001 serves as a science fiction thought
piece on what the next step of evolution might be. The film starts by showing the
dawn of man four million years ago. The actions of the apes are primal. They are
mostly herbivores
Intelligence Is The Mental Potential
Creativity and Intelligence, they couldn t be any more different from each other. But
maybe, just maybe could they be related in a sense? Or what does one have to do
with the other? That s what I always wondered when it came to both. In class we
learned that they do met at a certain point, but after that no such connection happens
between them. Creativity is the ability to produce new and valuable ideas; while
Intelligenceis the mental potential to learn from experiences, solve problems, and use
knowledge to adapt to new situations.
Intelligence certainly plays a role in creative thinking, but not to a full expectation.
Your IQ is generally gauged by the ability to interpret information and find a
solution, no matter what. For example in math and science, IQ is very important
because it shows your ability to memorize concepts and repeat similar problems. If I
was to tell you two plus two equals four, you should intelligently conclude four plus
four equals twice the original number.
Of course, Intelligence only gets you so far when it comes to creativity. To be
creative, you must be able to pull existing knowledge into a new situation and
quickly find potential outcomes. Being creative isn t something you need a high IQ
for. Steve Jobs once said Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative
people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn t really do
it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That s
Cash Management Paper
Abstract Implementing cash management strategies can initiate immense ways to
maximize cash flow in a firm. Assessing the current firm s cash position and
evaluating proper investment account options can assist a firm properly in accurately
assessing and making fairly reliable predictions at maintaining expenses. Important
tools are utilized when describing business performance and financial calculations to
meet the expected objectives the firm. Cash Management Paper In today s world,

When the economy is strong, companies can lapse into sloppy cash management
practices (Jill Andresky Fraser, 1998). Two types of sweep accounts are available for
the decision of the fees that can be charged. Controlled investment accounts are more
profitable of the sweep accounts, maintaining enough funds to cover checks while the
other funds are placed into overnight investments. End of day sweep accounts are
safer for the small business owners, but offer a late hour cutoff with controlled
investments. When the firm has excess cash, it will invest in marketable securities,
and when it needs cash for current assets, it will usually either sell marketable
securities or borrow funds from short term leaders (Block, Stanley B., 2005). Short
term Financing The financial manager must give careful attention to the growth in
sales and the relationship of the production process to sales (Block, Stanley B., 2005).
The financial manager should keep notice of the movements in the account for the
proper structure and progress. Short term financing maintains an approximate 40% of
the accounts payable or credit. Marketable securities for short term financing can be
obtained through credit from various suppliers. Banks have become more
international to be able to accommodate the rise of the international business. These
financial institutions have been able to display an enormous enhancement of being
able to lend money since the late 1990s. These customers may
Cochlear Hearing Aid
For a very long time, researchers sought for ways to provide those with severe
hearing loss the ability to hear. Unfortunately, this issue was not bypassed until
1972; however, many people are grateful a compromise was made. Cochlear
hearing aids were marketed as an answer for people with profound hearing loss to
be able to hear. The incredible cochlear hearing aid has consisted of an external part
and an internal part ever since it was first implanted in 1972. As explained by
American Speech Hearing Language Association, cochlear hearing aids work beyond
the damaged the auditory nerve because ... the damaged hair cells are bypassed, and
the auditory nerve is stimulated directly ( Cochlear Implants ). Well known news talk

Hearing aids, especially cochlear hearing aids, are crucial to enhancing life
experiences for those who receive them. An individual with a disability, such as
severe hearing loss, should never stop pursuing who they want to be. A precious
story that took place recently at the Emory University Medical Hospital in Atlanta,
Georgia, was about a father who has lost his hearing and his son who was born with
next to no hearing. According to Emory News Center, Thirty five year old Randy
Adams and his 16 month old son Maxwell have a bond that most other father son
pairs won t share. They both have genetic defects of the inner ear, leaving Randy
nearly deaf and son, Maxwell completely deaf ( Father, son share special bond;
both receive cochlear implants to improve hearing, speech ). Both Randy Adams
and his son Maxwell received cochlear implants within months of each other and
are currently in speech therapy together. This tear jerking story will forever impact
the both of their lives, and it is all made possible thanks to Alessandro Volta who
started doing research for cochlear implants in the 1800s and all the researchers
who dedicated time to developing and improving hearing aids. Cochlear hearing
aids are definitely one of the best innovations ever created, solely because of the joy
on peoples face when they hear for the first

The Poverty Of Nigeria, West Africa
A governor is able to own a six thousand square foot home fully equipped with
multiple security guards, a swimming pool, and far more rooms than needed.
Meanwhile, in a neighboring town just miles away is poverty stricken land where
someone calls home. It is surrounded by trash, with little food to eat, as the stench
of sewage from the local city coats the air. This scenario is foreign to people living
in the United States. That is simply because this is a problem prevalent to ones
living in Nigeria, West Africa. For decades, Nigeria has been infamously known for
the non progressive gap between the categorization of who is considered to be
either wealthy or who is labeled as impoverished. It is a country filled with an
abundance of resources, and in spite of this, Nigeria s povertyrate continues to
struggle. The leading factors currently contributing to the growing poverty rate in
Nigeria are due to the lack of proper education, the increasing population, and
corruption within the government. Firstly, the linear correlation between higher
education and easily attainable opportunities is a value commonly experienced and
encouraged globally. Education is ultimately the key to success, and without that
factor there is no foundation to build from. According to CNBC Africa, the Nigerian
education sector has rapidly declined in the past twenty years (Rhodes). This
statement alone gives a clear look into the struggle that youth in Nigeria are facing
daily when it comes to the
An Essay On Appalachian Culture
Appalachia is a culture based upon the ancient traditions and customs that have
made its way through the years. Appalachia is a descriptive term referring to
things in the Appalachian region. The style of dance or music would be a prime
example of things in that particular region. The culture of the people began as
really poor people who went West to survive on their own and avoid tax and
toleration of the Eastern States. People who are from there or native to the region
are generally close knit, and fiercely defensive of friends and family and skeptical
of outsiders. Yet, despite the lack of educational education, they had a lot of pride
for who they were and their mark in history. According to popular beliefs on
Appalachia, many people are led to believe that Appalachia is a poor and uneducated
region. In the town in which I grew up, there is a place in the town called Old Town
which showcases the culture... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And many of the stories that were once told by the people are working its way out
of our homes. We only hold onto the knowledge of Appalachia and the stories that
accompany each folk song. What I ve come to see over the years is the lack of
respect that we have for the Appalachian people and the work they put into each
item they present. Whether that be a pot or a basket we need to recognize the
craftsmanship that they invest to make things to eat out of or to put things into.
Many of us, like myself, was not born into the Appalachian life but yet it chooses
me. An event held every year on December 26th named Christmas Country Dance
School(CCDS). That is where you really feel a sense of getting back to your roots.
All kinds of people come together under one roof to sing, dance, tell stories, and
fellowship together as one kin. There you find a sense of belonging where you can
walk into a room and really feel the energy of people, and automatically feel as
though you found a sense of
Analyzing The Article Detecting The Snake
In the article Detecting the snake in the grass: Attention to fear‐relevant stimuli by
adults and young children published by Psychological Science authors Vanessa
LoBue and Judy S. DeLoache analyze the evidence that children detect threatening
stimuli more promptly than other types of stimuli. In this experiment, adults and
children were presented with images with both threatening and non threatening
stimuli. The images were presented on a touch screen and participants were asked to
press on the threatening stimuli. The objective of this experiment was to determine
whether people could detect stimuli that are evolutionarily pertinent early in life. The
hypothesis is that the threatening stimuli will be detected more quickly that the other
types of non threatening stimuli. Three experiments were performed on both adults
and children, and both detected snakes more rapidly than the other aspects of the
image, including butterflies and frogs. This research study contributed to
psychological research advancement by providing evidence of better visual detection
of threatening stimuli due to evolutionary relevance. Moreover, the research findings
discussed in the article Detecting the snake in the grass: Attention to fear‐relevant
stimuli by adults and young children by authors Vanessa LoBue and Judy S.
DeLoache relate to human subject research because it is an observational study using
both children and adults as participants. Data was collected on the children and adults
Lady Macbeth Has Been Described as the †Fourth
Witch.’ Do...
Lady Macbeth is an insidious and complex character. Throughout the course of the
novel, she manipulates her husband, Macbeth, and spurs him to commit his first
murder in order for him to ultimately achieve what she believes he deserves. Lady
Macbeth is shown to the audience as a loyal wife who wants the best for his
husband, but at the same time, she is portrayed as a malicious character from the
very beginning of the play. The line between an evil human being, and a scheming
witch, is so fine that Lady Macbethcould easily be either. The fact that the three Weird
Sisters predictions would not have become true without the supreme influence of

Unlike the witches, Lady Macbeth shows signs of vulnerability, and becomes
wracked with guilt. This is evident in her sleepwalking scene, when she says Out
damned spot! Out, I say! (VI, 1, 31) She, at that point in time, was haunted by the
sight of blood on her hands, and was convinced the blood was still there, showing
signs of madness as she becomes mentally unhinged. Lady Macbeth s recollection
of Macbeth s words after Duncan was murdered also haunted and festered within
her as shown when she starts to echo Macbeth s statements and fears, when she
said To bed, to bed: there s knocking at the gate! (VI, 1, 59) When Lady Macbeth is
sleepwalking and imagines that she is in hell, as shown by her statement Hell is
murky, (VI, 1, 32) she does not appear on stage again, and dies offstage. The two
most likely scenarios for her death would be suicide, or an act involving the doctor
and/or the gentlewoman, as they were the only people that witnessed the truth about
the murders. If suicide was the cause of Lady Macbeth s death, as is likely, an even
deeper level of guilt is shown and this emotional trauma felt by Lady Macbeth is not
felt by the witches. These signs of weakness are contrary to the connection she had
with the evil spirits in her evocation
The Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome
Ancient Rome
When was the last time you looked at a calendar? Did you know you were looking at
an invention created in Ancient Rome? Ancient Rome was one of the biggest and
greatest empires there was. People might not know about the beginning, the wars, the
developments, their life, and the end of the Ancient Rome Rome was started in the
eighth century B.C. / 753 B.C. It was started by Romulus in a town by the Timber
River. In a legend Romulus and his brother were left in the wild and they were
found and raised by a wolf. Romulus killed his brother, then he could become king of
Rome. The Roman Empire grew and it came into control of Britain, Asia, northern
part of Africa, and some Mediterranean islands. The Romans spoke many languages
including Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian. The empire s religion
was Roman Paganism and the believed in many gods. When Christianity came, the
romans persecuted them until Constantine, the first roman Christian emperor. There
were many wars needed for the Roman Empire to grow so big. The first Roman
army was called the Greek Phalanx and there were five ranks. The Greek Phalanx
was ended after the Gauls attacked Rome in 390 B.C. The Early Legion was a great
army after the Phalanx and had many tactics. Scorpio came and helped that army to
outmaneuver the enemy. War times caused the army to change many times. A large
battle was the Punic wars between Rome and Carthage. It ended with Rome winning.

Substance Abuse Is An Addiction
Introduction
Substance abuse is an addiction and it is the addition, which is referred to a chronic
disease. It is this chronic disease that is a significant and growing issue, especially
among family units where either one or two parents and/or parental guardians suffer
from. Despite the various and complex reasons that cause the parents or parental
guardians to abuse substances, it is their children who suffer thus, significantly
affecting the parent/parental guardian and child bonding relationship. It is this
bonding relationship when compromised that negatively affects the child s overall
socio emotional and psychological well being, as well as times when there are
physical risk factors such as abuse, neglect, or mistreatment (Johnson, 2015).
According to a study by
Connors Burrow et al. (2009), there were approximately 5.1% number of children
living with parents of substance dependence and the remaining percentage living with
parents of substance misuse (Conners Burrow et al., 2013). It is this percentage of
children whose normal development has been interrupted by the substance abuse and
with the appropriate and supportive interventions, these children can obtain a feeling
of acceptance and attachment security to their parents/parental guardians. (Where is
your thesis?)
Problem Area
The fact is that more than 8.3 million children ranging from infancy to eighteen years
old live in a family unit where either the parents or parental guardians are substance
abusers, as
Concept of Comfort
Running Head: CONCEPT OF COMFORT A Concept Paper on Comfort Deric
Franco A. Sunico Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Abstract During my nursing
student stint as we were exposed to different hospitals, I have always encountered
on chartings the phrase kept safe and comfortable . As I practice my profession,
questions arises what comfort really means and its diverse perspectives. Being a
ward nurse, aside from moving my patients towards health; providing holistic nursing
care and client satisfaction is my utmost concern. Leininger (1991) believed comfort
to be a function of nursing while Gropper (1992) embraced yet another approach to
the delineation of comfort and proposed that comfort is a basic human need pursued
by all human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, clinicians were not able to articulate clearly the concept of either
discomfort or pain, generally discussing them in terms of assessment findings. The
concept analysis for the proposed diagnosis discomfort initially focused on concept
delineation, but moved into a format of concept clarification because of the lack of
consensus on the clinical manifestations of discomfort. Contextual usage of Comfort
in the Literature By analyzing the contextual usage of the word comfort from
literatures on theology, business, engineering, society, and nursing, attributes of
comfort as well as antecedent to and outcomes from comfort were found. In the Old
Testament, Bromiley (1976) described that the words comfort are used for 15
Hebrew terms and also occur in free renderings. Mostly, however, they are used for
nДЃham, and this makes comfort the main sense, especially in bereavement which
is evident in the writings of the Holy Bible in Genesis 24:67. King James Version
(1962) wrote, And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah s tent, and took
Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after
his mother s death . The verb in particular also refers to the comfort that God gives
his people under his judgment, or individuals in temptation. Comfort in the Old
Testament (OT) as explained by Bromiley (1976) refers also to human and divine
comfort. When the OT refers comfort as human comfort, it
Alcoholism In A Curious Man
A Curious Man s Alcoholism
In the book A Curious Man, the author Neal Thompson tells the reader that Robert
Believe it or Not Ripley was an ...enigmatic cartoonist turned globe trotting
millionaire... (Thompson 9). As his ideas and interests evolved from sports to
traveling, so did his personality. Mr. Ripley developed a drinking problem in the
prohibition era. During this time, he was traveling Europe and Asia, so he took an
interest in what they were drinking. The author shows the reader how alcohol
changed Mr. Ripley s life through his use of language and character development.
Mr. Ripley started traveling Europe and Asia in 1922 so he could get new oddities
for his newspaper article Believe it or Not . Oddities are things that people or
animals have or do, that he found odd and interesting. For example, a man in India

While they were married, you could tell that Mr. Ripley was stressed out because he
had so many things to worry about. The author states But against so much
competition from nightclubs to baseball games, boxing matches to handball courts
he eventually realized there was nothing to salvage (Thompson 84). When Mr.
Ripley was on his big trip, he started to feel more sluggish and bored than anything.
The author writes Despite his passionate curiosity about the world, Ripley could be
lazy, and sometimes a bore. Just as he seems to relish opportunities to divulge his
chauvinism (and possible alcoholism) in print, he rarely hesitated to put his
provincialism on full display (Thompson 93). The author can show us that Mr. Ripley
s attitude is changing because of his recent divorce that s leading to his alcoholism
just through the way he

Men s footwear comprises the largest share of the organized market in value terms.
The ladies footwear segment remains the most untapped as nearly 80 90 percent
purchases happen in the unorganized market largely due to the dressing habits of
women for whom consideration of durability or comfort are less important than

Online Learning The Ruin Of Education Analysis

supposed to be the new cheaper way of learning, but are you actually learning? With
online schooling kids are not getting as much social interaction as they would in a

The Uc Davis Student Health And Counseling Services
Most often than not health is used synonymously with wellness. It can be assumed
that when a person is healthy then they are well. Thus, wellness and healthy can be
used interchangeably. The UC Davis Student health and counseling services explains
that wellness has eight dimensions: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental,
financial, physical, social, and intellectual. Each dimension of wellness is interrelated
with another and they are all equally vital in the pursuit of optimum health. Health s
the body s ability to adapt to a variety of stresses or challenges maintaining a state
of equilibrium that is physical, mental, and emotional. Based on the following
information it can be easily reasoned that health should be considered a basic
human right. Difficulty accessing healthy food based off of geographic location,
denied access to healthcare treatments based off of individuals economic capacity,
and denied access to health care based off of where a person is born should not
happen. Health does not consist of one concept but rather a combination of
comprehensive subjects that form the cycle of everyday life.
Health education provides its population with the necessary knowledge and tools to
help increase overall health, shape attitudes, and ultimately hopes to change behavior
(WHO, n.d.). Health education is advocating, promoting, teaching, and setting an
example of well being for all human beings regardless of ethnicity, social economic
status, race, and
Deformity In Mr Hyde
Another theme in Stevenson s novella is how he describes Mr Hyde as detestable
without any prominent features. Those who encounter Hyde notice he projects a
different type of appearance, and while they cannot verbalise it, they feel that
something is wrong. When Mr Enfield describes Hyde s appearance to Mr
Utterson, he says, He is not easy to describe. There is something wrong with his
appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable. I never saw a
man I so disliked, and yet I scarce know why. He must be deformed somewhere; he
gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn t specify the point. He s an
extraordinary looking man, and yet I really can name nothing out of the way. His
deformities are hidden from plain sight, but human nature notices them. Michael
Davis states, Hyde s pathology, real enough in its effects on others, is nonetheless
ghostly rather than material, somehow present yet simultaneously absent, and so
beyond the scope of mapping or diagnosis in physical terms. While Hyde is a person
and has a tangible effect on those around him, the features that produce such an effect
are invisible. By saying they are ghostly , a haunting aura surrounds Hyde, which also
creates the terrified emotion in those around him. Conversely, if one were to study
Hyde and his features, they would find no apparent difference between him and
others. This phenomenon suggests that there is a factor deeper than his physical
deformity in the
Ups vs Fedex Analytical Report
COMMUNICATION COMPARISON
FedEx vs. UPS
Background:
The basis of the analytical report will be comparing Fed Ex and the United Postal
Service (UPS). These two companies are the top in their industry. Each company
trying to achieve the role of the industry leader they constantly battle head to head
combining strategy and brute force. Fed Ex was incorporated in 1971, but did not
officially begin operations until April of 1973. Fed Ex started out delivering to
only 25 cities and did not start to expand until 1977. UPS was founded in 1907
starting out with a Model T Ford and a few motorcycles. UPS has since grown its
fleet into 15,000+ trucks along with a large fleet of aircrafts and services over 200

company in the transportation industry with ground employees covered by a railroad
and airline law. Most of the forces are from moderate to low besides the threat of
intense rivalry which signals that this is an attractive industry to be within.
Business Level Strategy:
From the beginning UPS and FedEx both had very different strategies in the
delivery industry. UPS was focused on ground transportation, as more of a
substitute for United States Postal Service. UPS has over 100,000 ground
transportation vehicles compared to only 20,000 ground vehicles in service at
FedEx. The focus of FedEx has always been to be an air delivery company that is
trying to pursue a strategy of being able to deliver a parcel the next day. FedEx
proves this focus with nearly 700 jets in service compared to only 300 at rival
UPS. FedEx and UPS both say the market of overnight delivery as the direction to
pursue. UPS was able to accept this and move forward allowing its ground
department to absorb the expense, while FedEx suffered a great deal and we hit with
higher cost do to them having to hire independent contractors. Over the years, these
two companies have changed their overall positioning strategy in the domestic
delivery industry. As

The Black Panther Party For Self Defense
Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panthers Party for self defense. In
finding the Black Panther Party, Newton and Seale based the ideas and visions on the
works of Malcolm X, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights movement, who had a by
any means necessary attitude . Malcolm had represented both a militant
revolutionary, with the dignity and self respect to stand up and fight to win equality
for all oppressed minorities. Once they created the group Newton and Seale organized
a mission statement, Ten Point Program, and a Uniform. The BP mission statement
included: [practicing] militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S.
government, and [fighting] to establish revolutionary socialism through mass
organizing and community based programs . The supplement Ten Point Program of
the Black Panther Partyincluded: Freedom, Full Employment, an end to robbery by
the capitalists of black community, housing, education, exemption from military
service, end to police, freedom for convicted blacks, wanting all people tried in court
to be tried by jury of their peer group from black communities, and land, bread,
clothing, justice, and peace.
The Black Panthers were unmistakable not only by their mission statement and Ten
Point Programs but also by their uniforms. Panthers were noticeable by their black
leather jackets, blue shirts, black trousers, and black breets that Huey Newton said
were international hat for the revolutionary. Huey Newton not

, he continues with writing about how the manager s primary responsibility is to
conduct the business in accordance with [the owner s] desires . While at this time,
this assumption was greatly appreciated considered, many economists have to come
to the realization that there are a lot of flaws associated with this view. It has since
then been developed and critiqued. In this essay, it is my intention to discuss the
implications and problems that came along with Friedman s opinion. Touching upon
theories such as the principal agenttheory to solidify the limitations of this view in
practice. I will also discuss the relationship between a shareholder centered
perspective and value transfer and value creation. First, we must understand what
Friedman s view is on corporate social responsibility. What are the social
responsibilities that a corporationmust follow? Friedman discussed in his article that
it is the corporation s responsibility to make as much money as possible for the
stockholder. This statement made by him made me wonder about safety for the
workers, excessive pollution, and how situations are handled in less developed
countries and child labor laws. I think that Friedman was not aware how this
statement would be interpreted, especially in an inappropriate way. He was probably

Rna Synthesis Essay
1.Homology dependent manner means that in order for the process to work correctly
and successfully it needs both a pairing of antisense RNA to mRNA. RNAi would not
be an example of genetic mutation because genetic mutation entails permanent
alteration of the nucleotide sequence of the genome. RNAi controls the genes to
cause them to become silenced by using dsRNA, which does not alter the nucleotide
sequence. The mRNA degrades in the process.
2.Once dsRNA is injected it binds to Dicer, an endonuclease proteinthat cuts RNA
into short segments of 21 nucleotides long that are siRNA or micro RNAs. The
short dsRNA binds to an argonaute protein and a guide strand is selected. The
RNA, argonaute protein, and other proteins are called the RNA Induced Silencing
Complex (RISC). Micro RNA s help guide RISC to messenger RNA s. The seed,
part of the micro RNA, pairs with a target messenger RNA. Targeting by a micro
RNA can lead to messenger RNA to be degraded or translation from being inhibited.
Antisense RNA alone is not sufficient to evoke an RNAi response because the RNA
needs to go through many steps with the help of other proteins to be able to have the
ability to achieve RNAi.

siRNA s are derived from longer double stranded RNA s that are produced in the
cell itself or can be delivered into cells experimentally. The introduction of siRNA s
are used to manipulate gene expression. Most microRNA s come from RNA that is
transcribed in the nucleus, which fold into double stranded precursor microRNA s
and are processed before being exported into the cytoplasm. Both siRNA and
microRNA bind to Dicer, in order to cut the RNA into short 21 nucleotide long
segments and then are incorporated into RISC. The only difference between siRNA
and microRNA is where they originate from, other than that they can perform the
same function. This is important because siRNA can be injected into the cell, which
could be key to finding a cure to a disease or

Introduction
Somalia is a small country in the eastern part of Africa, known as The Horn of
Africa . According to the CIA World Factbook (2016), Somalia has a population of
roughly 10.4 million, and 85 percent of people are Somali. Additionally, a significant
part of the population is Muslim, (CIA World Factbook, 2016), whom have
contributed to the current conflict. In this report, we analyze the recent violent
conflict and U.S. intervention in Somalia.
The disorder in Somalia that has built up for many years has contributed to the
growth of a terrorist group bent on global jihad, al Shabaab (Ibrahim, 2010). Al
Shabaab is an Islamist group that has been involved in conflict with the Somalian
government, and is considered one of the major threats to Somalia s prospects for
peace (Mueller, 2016).
The United States became involved with military strikes in Somalia during 2009, to
combat al Shabaab (Rotte, 2016). However, numerous civilians have lost their lives
in the process. Complicating the situation, it is not always clear whether or not al
Shabaab poses an imminent threat. Prior to 2009, the United States also set up the
Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter terrorism, where they allied with
Somali warlords to fight al Qaeda (Ibrahim, 2010). Since the United States allied itself
the Somalian government, drone attacks that
Political Theory Has Changed Over The History Of The
World
Political theory has changed over the history of the discipline. Two of the most
influential and arguably most important theorists are the Greek philosopher Plato,
and the Renaissance s Niccolo Machiavelli. These two characters represent the
beginning of idealistic political thought, and a more realist and contemporary way
that politics are looked at even today. The ideals of these two will be discussed and
dissected, to some extent to show how unobtainable Platos ideal is compared to
Machiavelli s realism that is seen in today s political atmosphere in various types
of political systems seen throughout the world. Looking at Plato, you must
understand where and what the timeframe he lived in. He was born in Classical
Greece in the year 427. He was educated, sophisticate, wise, intelligent, and also
wealthy. These were traits that in this time period put you at the top of societal
elites. Plato was a very gifted orator and speaker, giving him the ability to reason
and discuss any topic really, with the ability to win arguments and persuade
people. Due to his status in society, he was very idealistic and used this idealism to
reason how a perfect society should be constructed and run. Plato discusses and
sets forth his political ideal in the Republic. He uses platonic type writing in the
book, using characters to discuss, make points and arguments about how to form
such a society. The ideal city, or state even, is a model for how we as people look at
The Discovery Of The World Of Surgeons
Franco woke up one special morning and jumped out of bed like a bullet fired from
a gun. His head was whirring, heart pounding out of his feathery chest, and nerves

deep breath as he stared off at the view around him. Even with everything happening,
the arcticmountains never ceased to amaze. With the vast blanket of snow covering
them and falling from the morning sky, and the brisk air that penetrated the sunrise,
he was still astonished by its beauty each and every day. The snowfall growing
faster, he quickly jumped up and landed front side on the ice, sliding swiftly and
hurriedly, making sure to avoid any polar bears as they were always patrolling for...

Scrubs on, hands as clean as whistles, and mind clear as day, Franco was officially
ready to make the most crucial cut of his life. Literally. He walked calmly into the
doorway of the OR and tried to stop his hands from shaking with nerves. The hard
smell of ice and metal was the first thing he noticed even though Franco had
experienced this room a thousand times.
As he asked a nurse for the scalpel, he glanced into the watch room up above and
saw his whole family and some friends and he knew that everything would work

The blade sliced through tender skin, and exposed the diseased abdomen. Even
though a part of him was on edge, focusing on his technique calmed him. He didnt

him as the procedure was done.

Who was Joseph McCarthy?

age of 14. After that, he explained to his family that he was finished with his studies
and wanted to become a farmer like his father.

of land from his father. Unfortunately, Joe became very ill and his business
perished. Joe decided that he would go to work. At age 19 he became the manager of

This cause was discovered on the night of January 7, 1950. McCarthy was having

communism. McCarthy loved this idea right from the start and vowed to bring down
all of the communists in the United States Government.

game, perhaps they have to change the rules of the trade (in terms of innovative

their own research and development and place a large emphasis on the importance
of innovation. Strong liquidity within the company proves to be a large advantage
for Motorola compared to its less so liquid competitors. Companies with cash flow
problems tend to have many difficulties while operating within day to day business
activities. Execution Motorola passes this requirement with flying colors. Employees
rely on their ability to effectively and efficiently execute consistent business

The Female Reproductive System For Ovarian Cancer Essay
Abstract
The female reproductive system is one of the most vital to obtaining new life. It is
important to keep healthy and get checkups that can help detect anything abnormal
to be able to treat any cancer as soon as possible. Being able to find ovarian cancer at
an early stage can make all the difference. Fortunately stage one of ovarian cancer has
a very high survival rate.
Ovaries are about four centimeters long and hold about one million eggs in each
of the ovaries when a female is born. They are found on each side of a female s
uterus in the pelvis. Both ovaries are held by ligaments right above the fallopian
tubes. They are the female reproductive gland that produces ova, which are also
known as the eggs. They also produce sex hormones, which is the second most
important job of the gland, called estrogen and progesterone that help control a
woman s menstrual cycle. Androgens are produced also but in very small amounts.
When a female hits puberty about four to five hundred thousand follicles are left
over after half of the follicles were absorbed into the body during childhood. After
a females starts their menstrual cycle, once a month in the ovaries about ten to
twelve egg follicles, which are sacs filled with fluid, develop the eggs then only one
of the ovaries will release an egg that will go down the fallopian tube. Tiny finger
like structure help the eggs move into the fallopian tube before it goes down into the
uterus. After about two weeks

The Misconceptions Of Pit Bulls And Pitbulls
The Bullied Bullies When people think of loyal dogs with a friendly demeanor,
puppy like face, and a wagging tail, they typically would imagine a Golden
Retriever or a Labrador Retriever. However, out of these people, many of them
would not expect a Pit Bull to fit into the same categories. Pit bulls are the most
bred dogs in America, and yet, one million Pit Bulls are euthanized every year, and
only one in 600 Pit Bulls born will ever find a loving home ( Pit Bulls and
Euthanasia Rates ). This is a result of misconceptions about Pit Bulls that millions of
people today still believe. A widely believed misconception about the term Pit Bullis
that it is an actual dog breed. However, this is false, and it is simply a category for
different dog breeds with similar characteristics, such as the American Staffordshire,
the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier
, the
American Bulldog, and any mixes between these breeds. These breeds all came
from the breeding of English Terriers and English Bulldogs to obtain desired sizes
and characteristics. Most Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are strong, powerful dogs
with broad, brick like heads and muscular bodies ( About Dog Breeds: Pit Bull )
and have a large variety of different fur colors. Because of their strength and loyalty,
Pit Bulls have been taken advantage of by people who use them for fighting and

Analysis Of The Movie The Spartan Warrior Dilios
United We Stand
When I was fourteen, the only movie that I really wanted to see was 300. The hype
surrounding it, along with the action packed trailer, completely captured my
interest. Naturally, it was the one and only movie that I was completely forbidden
to see. No amount of pleading could sway my parents decision, much to my
increasing dismay. Fast forward a few years later, and sixteen year old me is still
begging to see this one movie. Eventually, after two years of asking and begging to
see this movie, my father finally said yes. Zach Snyder s comic adapted movie 300
is full of everything any viewer could ever want: attractive actors and lots of blood,
guts, and glory. David Wenham plays the Spartan warrior Dilios, who I believe
gives the most inspiring speech that any R rated movie has ever produced. Dilios
speech at the end of the movie 300 is exceedingly effective in its purpose to
motivate and persuade the massive army of Greeks and Spartans to fight the hordes
of Xerxes armies. In the final speech to the army of Spartans and Greeks in the
movie 300, Dilios tells the men of the brave sacrifice of King Leonidas and his three
hundred men who fought and died at the Battle of Thermopylae. Although, they were
greatly outnumbered by the armies of Xerxes and eventually were defeated, their
story traveled far and wide across the land. Dilios, the last and only survivor of the
Battle of Thermopylae, brought their glorious tale back to Sparta, where it spread
The Seven Amendments
The constitution of the United States of America is the founding document on which
the government of America is built. It currently has twenty seven amendments. It
lines out the specific government practices as well as the system of check and
balances. It was first drafted July, 1787 after the first form of government, the articles
of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a point where it became almost
redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the acting
continental congress decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution
was efficient and fair and it kept the parts of government in place while not giving
too much power to one or more branches.
After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and
rights that the average citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are
the foundation on what the freedom of America is built with. The amendments spell
out the freedoms that Americans had, everything from the right of religious freedoms
to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly debated subjects today. They
made America what America was, the freest country in the world
Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects
Religion and the right to practice it. The first amendment to the United States
Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion,
impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of
Aristotle And Jean Jacques Rousseau And Rousseau On
The...
People such as Buddhist monks devote their lives to the search for virtue through
isolation and meditation. Others believe that just simply living your life as a
generous person and practicing self preservation is virtuous. These two different, yet
similar ideas of virtuous living came from the two philosophers known as Aristotle
and Jean Jacques Rousseauand their works in the Nicomachean Ethicsand Discourse
on The Origin of Inequality. Aristotle believed that the individual had to meet
multiple qualifications in order to truly be virtuous; rather than Rousseau who
thought a virtuous person simply needed to preserve their own life and have the virtue
pity, or defined by him as your natural impulses. While they both disagree on
whether impulse or habit is the key to becoming virtuous or even what virtue is,
they agree that we pursue the virtuous life in order to avoid pain. Jean Jacques
Rousseau in The Origin of Inequality talks briefly about a savage man in the state of
nature and what makes him virtuous. Rousseau said, Qualities that can harm an
individual s preservation vices in him and those than can contribute to its virtues. In
that case it would be necessary to call the one who least resists the simple impulses
of nature the most virtuous, (35). When reading this, one can clearly see Rousseau
depicts the virtuous person being the savage man who gives into his impulses. He
believes that man should only fulfill his natural impulses of sex, sleep, and food in

Monty Python s Influence on Comedy
Monty Python, a British acting group from the 70 s, influenced comedy by
incorporating new experiments with form and content. They were broadcasted by
BBC from 1969 1974. Their show flying circus pushed the limits of what was
acceptable. It was a sketch show that had a hint of consciousness that stretched the
style of what was being broadcasted during this time period. They came into the
business with new style and characteristics with a vision to pursue and they would
not let the mainstream comedian ruin their plan to stand out and receive success.
The Python s troupe was looking to try something new and unnatural. Monty Python
s Flying Circus was written and performed by its stars, and loosely based on the
existing sketch show set up. However, its unique premise followed a string of
consciousness format. . They chose to push the limits of their genre and try to
expand their audiences overseas with the film And now for Something Completely
Different. . That film however was just a low budget reshoot of earlier sketches.
The sketches they wrote had a lot of beef in them and that showed the python s true

Traditional Medicine And Modern Medicine
Since 7,000 BCE humans were discovered to have used primitive methods to practice
medicine and overtime it s become more sophisticated. Medicine, in general, is the
science and practice of the diagnosis, treatments, and prevention of disease. It
encompasses a variety of evolved methods to maintain and rejuvenate health. When
aspects of traditional medicinesuch as acupuncture and herbal remedies are combined
with modern scientific medicine, complications regarding a person s mental or
physical condition may be resolved in an affordable, ethical, and effective manner.
Today in America the cost of goods in general is steadily rising while their earnings
are disporinate to this increase leaving many in debt. Statistics show that healthcare is
the number one cause of personal bankruptcy and is responsible for more collections
than credit cards. According to Olga Khazan of the Atlantic Roughly 40 percent of
Americans owe collectors money for times they were sick (2). Collectively,
Americans are alarmingly paying more for treatments due to hidden costs in the
initial procedure. A solution for this would involve incorporating traditional medicine
with modern scientific medicine. Importantly, to clear up any misconception about
what defines modern, traditional , and alternative medicine a few lines will be
dedicated. The World Health Organization states that Traditional medicine comprises
medical aspects of traditional knowledge that developed over generations within

Poetry Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
Poetry Analysis of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of
teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences
that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the
poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered
her works predominately around the African Americanconsciousness. During the
1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American
men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the
surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are
misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer
pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect
between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever
people gather together and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to
its effects and often experience it because, of shared experiences or they share the
same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough
influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual
is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know
that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real
Cool. In the opening lines of the poem, the reader

Loggerhead Turtle Characteristics
For many beach lovers, the ocean provokes thoughts of family vacations, palm

Loggerhead Sea Turtles stand out as being well recognized. The turtle s massive

Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research
Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand?
By Jihad Mohd Erfino
Introduction:
Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the
world. It questions the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and
even for medical research purposes. Although it happens in most of the world
(including New Zealand) today, many question whether it should go on. Animal
testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions.
Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since
the 2nd century BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing
Wikipedia). He was the first one to have made experiments on live animals. The
first animal testing experiments was to find out how our bodies work. For
example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th
century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th
century by William Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human
medical advances. It has helped developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio
which has almost been eradicated. It has also have helped humans to have a better
understanding of our bodily mechanisms, function and several diseases. Some
diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated better due to animal testing
discoveries.

transmute into reality. As you might already know, the journey won t be always
seamless and easy. There will be sunshine and rainbows as there will be rain and
hailstorms. There will be moments of glory and victory as there will be moments of
defeat and tragedy. But remember that everything you go through and every single

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Gastrointestinal Symptoms
According to a recent study, 126 PRO instruments have been identified which
measure a broad range of gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions.14 Prior
evaluation and comparison of these instruments demonstrated the two instuments
with the highest scores for IBS symptom assessment were the Visceral Sensitivity
Index and the IBS QOL questionnaires. 14 The Visceral Sensitivity Index
questionnaire (VIS)15 was developed as the first instrument to assess gastrointestinal
specific anxiety, the cognitive, affective, and behavioral response to fear of
gastrointestinal sensations, symptoms, and the context in which these visceral
sensations and symptoms occur. Although this questionnaire can but used in IBS
patients, the instrument emphasizes behavior and psychological components of
gastrointestinal symptoms instead of the physical symptoms. Since the clinical
question being asked relates to primarily gastrointestinal symptoms, this tool did not
appear to be the most appropriate. The IBS QOL questionnaire16 includes 34
questions that measure health related quality of live in IBS patients. Numerous
studies were performed to validate this questionnaire and included item reduction,
factor structure analysis employing principal components analysis (PCA),
assessment of internal consistency reliability assessed by Cronbach s Coefficient
О±, reproducibility via comparing the overall IBS QOL score at Baseline and one
week later using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), assessment
Effects Of Positive Reinforcement
Question:
How will positive reinforcement affect speed and accuracy on a timed multiplication
test?
Purpose:
To determine whether positive reinforcement has a bigger effect on speed or
accuracy, and to what degree.
Research:
When I took AP Psychology last year, I learned that positive reinforcement will
reinforce someone s behavior by making them associate the behavior with a
positive stimulus. In my experience, rushing through things usually causes me to
have a faster time, but a lower score. In a study published February of 1990, it was
stated that teachers systematic use of certain categories of verbal statements, such
as praise and reprimands, can have a positive impact on student behavior,
achievement, or both. This seems to indicate that positive reinforcement and
encouragement may have an effect on the achievement of students. However I was
unable to find a study comparing the accuracy and speed of participants in a study,
and so I will have to make a few assumptions of my own based on previous
knowledge in order to form a hypothesis.
Hypothesis:
If people are given positive reinforcement on a timed multiplication test, then their
overall speed will increase, while their overall accuracy will decrease.
Materials:
Pen, Pencil, Eraser, and Marking Pen/Marker
Stopwatch (Including those found on smartphones)
3 randomly generated multiplication sheets of times tables between 2 and 12 (All
participants get the exact same 3 sheets) [the first sheet is 25
A Research Study On College Students
On a daily basis you are introduced to new people around you. The connections you
make with the people you meet are relationships. Relationships can vary from
person to person based on the type of connection you have with them. There are the
relationships with family, relationships with friends, and then the relationship with
a significant other. With sufficient amounts of research being done daily on all
aspects of relationships and how they work, there is a significant gap in the study
of college students and how they view the importance of a committed relationship.
With the appearance of this gap, I am doing my research in this field and on
college aged students. The key concept when developing this study is how serious
and committed relationships are built and treated among college students. This
study will examine the way males and females in college perceive the importance
of relationships and how they participate in the different variations and if these
variations change the way students look at relationships. Recent research barely
touched on relationship styles, especially in college age males and females. I would
like to know what males and females in their freshman and senior year in college are
looking for in an intimate type of relationship. The purpose of this study is to identify
how males opinions about serious committed relationships change from their
freshman year in college to their senior year in college and how females opinions
about serious committed
Isla Holbox As A Cultural Destination Essay
Isla Holbox
Just like modern day tourists, the tourism industry has been on a steady, fast paced
journey due to technological evolution. With the affordability and easy accessibility,
traveling potential has greatly increased. Sometimes, it is the destination that
matters along with the people you go on the voyage with. This paper will analyze
Isla Holbox as a cultural destination. Isla Holbox, an island just northwest of
Cancun, Mexico, has always sustained human life; the Mayans and other indigenous
people of Central America and Mexico steadily populated the islands of Quintana
Roo. However, During the 17th and 18th centuries Isla Holbox was pirated due to
the strategic location. In 1873, European buccaneers fell in love with the beauty of
Isla Holbox and decided to settle down on the island. At the end of the 19th century,
Yucatan entrepreneurs began the colonization of the mainland. In the 1960 s Isla
Holbox had dwindled down to a population of around 500 inhabitants; today, the the
26 mile long and .9 mile long island has around 1800 inhabitants and has a potential
for tourist development. Although the ability to profit off of tourism, Isla Holbox is
still not heavily toured. Tourism has become a commercial business, which has
obvious benefits to the said economy, the environment and society. Often, the positive
economic impacts persuade governments, companies and individuals to get involved
with the development of tourism. Tourism creates jobs, both
Theories of Organizational Behavior
Revisiting the Classical theories
Introduction
Organization indexes considerably more than the structures that lifts us out of bare
life . Organization is also intimately, and utterly, connected to thought. While many,
and by no means just those in the West, think of themselves as free from
enslavement by others, and even free from the organization of the state, who can
argue that they are also free from the pervasive effects of language, culture and
science? These are matters into which we find ourselves thrown , long before we
wake up to their organizing effects. If, indeed, we ever do wake up. For if the
intricate relations between language and thought came to be examined late in the
19th century, questions about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the First World War, the focus of organizational studies shifted to analysis of
how human factors and psychology affected organizations, a transformation propelled
by the identification of the Hawthorne effect. Prominent early scholars included
Chester Barnard, Henri Fayol, Frederick Herzberg and so on. These people together
constitute what is generally called the Classical school. One of the first schools of
management thought, the classical management theory, developed during the
Industrial Revolution when new problems related to the factory system began to
appear. Managers were unsure of how to train employees (many of them non
English speaking immigrants) or deal with increased labor dissatisfaction, so they
began to test solutions. As a result, the classical management theory developed
from efforts to find the one best way to perform and manage tasks. It arose because
of the need to increase productivity and efficiency. The emphasis was on trying to
find the best way to get the most work done by examining how the work process was
actually accomplished and by scrutinizing the skills of the workforce.
Later on there were many developments in the field, but the role and importance of
this school remains almost unparallel and they can be grouped among the most
influential of all the theorists because it was these theories that the later day schools
and thoughts took as their beginning point.
Even today,
Text 1.11 And The Language
In the following essay I will compare and contrast two texts with each other by
referring to the language and linguistic features.
The main idea in Text 1.11 is of a persuasive manner. This text is aimed at
persuading the reader to buy the Mentz Rahmen products. This statement is
supported by the use of the modality words except and the use of the active voice:
settle and listening . The cohesion in the text is found in the form of an ellipsis and
makes use of transitions with the use of the words stereo , earpiece , sound ,
listening and headphones . These words are all directly related to the product. The
writer also uses Reference cohesion in referring back to the people. Text 3:3 is an
argumentative piece. The writer appeals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Text 3:3 avoids speaking directly to the reader. The language features within text
1:11 are very vast. The use of bound or inflectional morphemes is clear when the
word distorted is used. One can also find an example of zoomorphism in the words
hisssing and jusst . The words conk out on them is often found in American English
which is common in informal writing. This text is written in the active voice thus
speaking directly to the reader, and uses conjunctions like and to create a natural flow.
Typographic elements are also used in this text to make reading more interesting and
to emphasize certain key words. Text 3:3 on the other hand has all the qualities of an
argumentative newspaper article. The writer makes use the present tense and
quotations to substantiate his arguments. Also makes use of the words complex and
consistent which are inflectional morphemes.
The rhetorical devices in text 1:11 are used effectively: Description and imagery is
used as the writer describes a situation in which a reader uses another set of
headphones with a bad quality and the use of a Hyperbole comparing the experience
with a nightmare. Text 3:3 uses some of the same methods especially the Hyperbole
when they refer to: people who like nothing better than to kill team mates and scam,
cheat and abuse . In this text the writer makes use of implicature. The writer also uses
conjunctions: and

picture was of a man standing with his bare barrel of a chest, bare legs, swimming

Kid Cudi Meaning
The possibility of not having the chance to experience life s timeless moments all
over again is disappointing; therefore, it is an individual s job to seize every one of
them, carpe diem. In 2009, the Hip Hop artist Kid Cudi wrote a song expressing a
lifestyle of seizing life s moments called The Pursuit of Happiness. He mentions
late nights consisting of parties and drugs in the search for happiness that everyone
desires. The song talks about how the journey to happiness can develop into a
lifestyle of substance abuse, apprehension, and regrets even though happiness is
possibly at the end. Though it deteriorates them as a whole the mindset as quoting

That s why immediately after asking a question he answers it for the listeners,
because they haven t experienced his happiness. In the last two lines of the second
verse, he is saying while others are laying awake worrying about their struggles, he
is busy drinking his sorrows away. On another hand, The Pursuit of Happiness has
less thrilling lyrics and it focuses on achieving happiness but the journey may not
be as glamorous as intended. There are aspects of life that are not deceitful, but it is
worth it in the long run. The chorus explains this perfectly by stating: I m in the
pursuit of happiness and I know Everything that shines ain t always gold And I ll be

The Importance Of Knowledge In Art
Knowledge lies at the foundation of everything in society. While it may not always
be noticed, it is always present. This knowledge is used in an array of processes such
as creativity, experimentation, analysis, and so much more. From process to
process, or area of knowledge to area of knowledge, all knowledgeincorporates the
processes of both transformation and description in order to evolve as justifiable
beliefs. Transformative knowledge includes the product of an individual s
implementation of their personal cognitive processes to challenge traditional
perspectives, while descriptive knowledge results when individuals utilize the new
perspectives, allowing fresh outlooks to be perceived. While all areas of knowledge
incorporate the use of both processes, some may primarily use one or the other. This
can be seen in the areas of art and natural sciences. Knowledge in arts seems to
primarily describe the world, while knowledge in natural sciences seeks to transform
it through innovation and much more.
The area of art is popularly known for heightening emotions, challenging stereotypes,
and ultimately providing insights into how individuals view the surrounding world.
The artist and the observer time and time again see pieces in overwhelmingly
different ways. Individuals may wonder why this is so. What could possibly create
such a drastic change from one perspective to another? When it comes down to it,
experiences are the answer. The artist and the observer have different

The Baghdad battery was the foundation of this project and Baghdad batteries were
built by Ancient Parathions. There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions
were able to use it since there were no wires found for the electric current to flow.
The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube
and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains
electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first
ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper
tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering
includes charcoal and wood sand as an alternative helping increase electric current by
2 volts. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery July 28, 2011)

Macbeths Power Essay
Throughout reading the play, Macbeth changes a lot from being a man of loyalty
and honesty, to a man of whom is power hungry and greedy. This shows how the
more power you receive the more power you want; which in many cases, such as
this one leads to destruction. Many of the choices that Macbeth made were
influenced by the power that he had, and this power began to take over him. This
then lead to greed and destruction of not only others, but himself as well. nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In the beginning of the play, Macbeth is not in a position of
authority yet still receives praise. Although Macbeth is not in a place of power, he
is truly content with his life. Macbeth is looked up to and admired for begin so

But little did the king know that this taste of power would bring out new
dangerous qualities in Macbeth. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Once Macbeth
possessed the power of being Thane of Cawdor he began to exhibit more greed. He
has just been given such a huge responsibility and once he was given new power,
he craved more; especially when he stumbled upon the witches. He liked the power
that he had and wanted to gain more, no matter what he has to do to get it.
Macbeth had an encounter with the three witches and they had told him that he
will become the next king. Although the witches did say this it did not mean that it
was certain, it was just a possibility. But when Macbeth realized the opportunity for
power he knew he wanted to become the king. This passage was in part of the
letter that Macbeth wrote to Lady Macbeth: Whiles I stood rapt in the wonder of it
came missives from the King, who all hailed me Thane of Cawdor, by which title,
before, these Weird Sisters saluted me and referred me to the coming on of time
with Hail, king that shalt be (1.5.6 10). . It seems as if the power and greed now
had full control over him, he is doing things that he wouldn t do when he did not
have all this power. This is the first time that we see this side of Macbeth, the side
of him that is greedy for power and is willing to kill the king to do so. In the
beginning of the play the thought of being Thane of Cawdor never even crossed his
mind, and by no means being

Spare The Rod And Spoil The Child Essay. Spare the rod and spoil the child Picture Quotes

  • 1. Spare The Rod And Spoil The Child Essay Crafting an essay on the topic "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child" presents a unique set of challenges that require a delicate balance of perspectives. This topic delves into the age-old debate surrounding parenting styles and discipline, touching upon cultural, psychological, and ethical dimensions. One must navigate through a myriad of opinions, drawing from historical practices, modern parenting theories, and individual experiences to construct a well-rounded argument. Addressing the dichotomy between discipline and indulgence, the essay demands a nuanced exploration of the impact of corporal punishment on a child's development. This involves delving into psychological studies, examining the long-term effects of various disciplinary approaches, and understanding the cultural context that shapes our attitudes toward child rearing. It's crucial to acknowledge the fine line between instilling discipline and resorting to harsh measures, fostering an environment where the child can learn and grow without fear. Furthermore, the essay must grapple with societal expectations, questioning whether traditional views on discipline still hold merit in contemporary times. In doing so, one has to consider the evolving nature of familial structures, cultural shifts, and the ever-expanding body of research on child psychology. Balancing these elements requires a careful synthesis of diverse perspectives, making it a challenging but intellectually rewarding task. The difficulty is compounded by the potential for emotional responses from readers who may hold strong convictions on the matter. Sensitivity to varying viewpoints is essential, ensuring that the essay neither alienates nor dismisses opposing beliefs. It is a delicate dance of presenting evidence, fostering critical thinking, and respecting the diversity of opinions within the discourse. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child" is a complex undertaking that demands a comprehensive exploration of historical, psychological, and cultural facets. The challenge lies in navigating the nuances of discipline, acknowledging diverse perspectives, and crafting a balanced argument that respects the complexity of the subject matter. • 2. Analysis Of 2001 A Space Odyssey In 1968, reputable director/producer Stanley Kubrick revolutionized the art of film with his Arthur C. Clark collaboration, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The MGM film is known for it s striking imagery mostly because, upon an audience member s first viewing, it is the only thing that actually makes sense. After the second or third viewing, though, one realizes that the story is something larger than life. Or at least it is larger than the humanrace. 2001 tells the story of evolution and the future that humans might eventually encounter. The plot of 2001: A Space Odysseyis complex. The basic plot takes place after the human race finds a mysterious monolith buried on the moon. A crew of astronauts, the main of which are Dr. Dave Bowman, played by Keir Dullea, and Dr. Frank Poole, played by Gary Lockwood, set out on a mission to the outer moons of Jupiter. With them is the artificial intelligence computer, H.A.L. 9000, which controls all of the functions of the ship, including the life support systems holding part of the still hibernating crew. After a series of events that lead Dr. Bowman and Dr. Poole to believe Hal is malfunctioning, relations between human and computer become hostile. The function of this film is not to portray computers as evil beings. 2001 serves as a science fiction thought piece on what the next step of evolution might be. The film starts by showing the dawn of man four million years ago. The actions of the apes are primal. They are mostly herbivores
  • 3. Intelligence Is The Mental Potential Creativity and Intelligence, they couldn t be any more different from each other. But maybe, just maybe could they be related in a sense? Or what does one have to do with the other? That s what I always wondered when it came to both. In class we learned that they do met at a certain point, but after that no such connection happens between them. Creativity is the ability to produce new and valuable ideas; while Intelligenceis the mental potential to learn from experiences, solve problems, and use knowledge to adapt to new situations. Intelligence certainly plays a role in creative thinking, but not to a full expectation. Your IQ is generally gauged by the ability to interpret information and find a solution, no matter what. For example in math and science, IQ is very important because it shows your ability to memorize concepts and repeat similar problems. If I was to tell you two plus two equals four, you should intelligently conclude four plus four equals twice the original number. Of course, Intelligence only gets you so far when it comes to creativity. To be creative, you must be able to pull existing knowledge into a new situation and quickly find potential outcomes. Being creative isn t something you need a high IQ for. Steve Jobs once said Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That s

When the economy is strong, companies can lapse into sloppy cash management practices (Jill Andresky Fraser, 1998). Two types of sweep accounts are available for the decision of the fees that can be charged. Controlled investment accounts are more profitable of the sweep accounts, maintaining enough funds to cover checks while the other funds are placed into overnight investments. End of day sweep accounts are safer for the small business owners, but offer a late hour cutoff with controlled investments. When the firm has excess cash, it will invest in marketable securities, and when it needs cash for current assets, it will usually either sell marketable securities or borrow funds from short term leaders (Block, Stanley B., 2005). Short term Financing The financial manager must give careful attention to the growth in sales and the relationship of the production process to sales (Block, Stanley B., 2005). The financial manager should keep notice of the movements in the account for the proper structure and progress. Short term financing maintains an approximate 40% of the accounts payable or credit. Marketable securities for short term financing can be obtained through credit from various suppliers. Banks have become more international to be able to accommodate the rise of the international business. • 5. Cochlear Hearing Aid For a very long time, researchers sought for ways to provide those with severe hearing loss the ability to hear. Unfortunately, this issue was not bypassed until 1972; however, many people are grateful a compromise was made. Cochlear hearing aids were marketed as an answer for people with profound hearing loss to be able to hear. The incredible cochlear hearing aid has consisted of an external part and an internal part ever since it was first implanted in 1972. As explained by American Speech Hearing Language Association, cochlear hearing aids work beyond the damaged the auditory nerve because ... the damaged hair cells are bypassed, and the auditory nerve is stimulated directly ( Cochlear Implants ). Hearing aids, especially cochlear hearing aids, are crucial to enhancing life experiences for those who receive them. An individual with a disability, such as severe hearing loss, should never stop pursuing who they want to be. A precious story that took place recently at the Emory University Medical Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, was about a father who has lost his hearing and his son who was born with next to no hearing. According to Emory News Center, Thirty five year old Randy Adams and his 16 month old son Maxwell have a bond that most other father son pairs won t share. They both have genetic defects of the inner ear, leaving Randy nearly deaf and son, Maxwell completely deaf ( Father, son share special bond; both receive cochlear implants to improve hearing, speech ). Both Randy Adams and his son Maxwell received cochlear implants within months of each other and are currently in speech therapy together. This tear jerking story will forever impact the both of their lives, and it is all made possible thanks to Alessandro Volta who started doing research for cochlear implants in the 1800s and all the researchers who dedicated time to developing and improving hearing aids. Cochlear hearing aids are definitely one of the best innovations ever created, solely because of the joy on peoples face when they hear for the first

  • 7. The Poverty Of Nigeria, West Africa A governor is able to own a six thousand square foot home fully equipped with multiple security guards, a swimming pool, and far more rooms than needed. Meanwhile, in a neighboring town just miles away is poverty stricken land where someone calls home. It is surrounded by trash, with little food to eat, as the stench of sewage from the local city coats the air. This scenario is foreign to people living in the United States. That is simply because this is a problem prevalent to ones living in Nigeria, West Africa. For decades, Nigeria has been infamously known for the non progressive gap between the categorization of who is considered to be either wealthy or who is labeled as impoverished. It is a country filled with an abundance of resources, and in spite of this, Nigeria s povertyrate continues to struggle. The leading factors currently contributing to the growing poverty rate in Nigeria are due to the lack of proper education, the increasing population, and corruption within the government. Firstly, the linear correlation between higher education and easily attainable opportunities is a value commonly experienced and encouraged globally. Education is ultimately the key to success, and without that factor there is no foundation to build from. According to CNBC Africa, the Nigerian education sector has rapidly declined in the past twenty years (Rhodes). This statement alone gives a clear look into the struggle that youth in Nigeria are facing daily when it comes to the
  • 8. An Essay On Appalachian Culture Appalachia is a culture based upon the ancient traditions and customs that have made its way through the years. Appalachia is a descriptive term referring to things in the Appalachian region. The style of dance or music would be a prime example of things in that particular region. The culture of the people began as really poor people who went West to survive on their own and avoid tax and toleration of the Eastern States. People who are from there or native to the region are generally close knit, and fiercely defensive of friends and family and skeptical of outsiders. Yet, despite the lack of educational education, they had a lot of pride for who they were and their mark in history. According to popular beliefs on Appalachia, many people are led to believe that Appalachia is a poor and uneducated region. And many of the stories that were once told by the people are working its way out of our homes. We only hold onto the knowledge of Appalachia and the stories that accompany each folk song. What I ve come to see over the years is the lack of respect that we have for the Appalachian people and the work they put into each item they present. Whether that be a pot or a basket we need to recognize the craftsmanship that they invest to make things to eat out of or to put things into. Many of us, like myself, was not born into the Appalachian life but yet it chooses me. An event held every year on December 26th named Christmas Country Dance School(CCDS). That is where you really feel a sense of getting back to your roots. All kinds of people come together under one roof to sing, dance, tell stories, and fellowship together as one kin. There you find a sense of belonging where you can walk into a room and really feel the energy of people, and automatically feel as though you found a sense of
  • 9. Analyzing The Article Detecting The Snake In the article Detecting the snake in the grass: Attention to fear‐relevant stimuli by adults and young children published by Psychological Science authors Vanessa LoBue and Judy S. DeLoache analyze the evidence that children detect threatening stimuli more promptly than other types of stimuli. In this experiment, adults and children were presented with images with both threatening and non threatening stimuli. The images were presented on a touch screen and participants were asked to press on the threatening stimuli. The objective of this experiment was to determine whether people could detect stimuli that are evolutionarily pertinent early in life. The hypothesis is that the threatening stimuli will be detected more quickly that the other types of non threatening stimuli. Three experiments were performed on both adults and children, and both detected snakes more rapidly than the other aspects of the image, including butterflies and frogs. Throughout the course of the novel, she manipulates her husband, Macbeth, and spurs him to commit his first murder in order for him to ultimately achieve what she believes he deserves. Lady Macbeth is shown to the audience as a loyal wife who wants the best for his husband, but at the same time, she is portrayed as a malicious character from the very beginning of the play. The line between an evil human being, and a scheming witch, is so fine that Lady Macbethcould easily be either. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike the witches, Lady Macbeth shows signs of vulnerability, and becomes wracked with guilt. This is evident in her sleepwalking scene, when she says Out damned spot! Out, I say! (VI, 1, 31) She, at that point in time, was haunted by the sight of blood on her hands, and was convinced the blood was still there, showing signs of madness as she becomes mentally unhinged. Lady Macbeth s recollection of Macbeth s words after Duncan was murdered also haunted and festered within her as shown when she starts to echo Macbeth s statements and fears, when she said To bed, to bed: there s knocking at the gate! (VI, 1, 59) When Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking and imagines that she is in hell, as shown by her statement Hell is murky, (VI, 1, 32) she does not appear on stage again, and dies offstage. The two most likely scenarios for her death would be suicide, or an act involving the doctor and/or the gentlewoman, as they were the only people that witnessed the truth about the murders. If suicide was the cause of Lady Macbeth s death, as is likely, an even deeper level of guilt is shown and this emotional trauma felt by Lady Macbeth is not felt by the witches. These signs of weakness are contrary to the connection she had with the evil spirits in her evocation

Being a ward nurse, aside from moving my patients towards health; providing holistic nursing care and client satisfaction is my utmost concern. The concept analysis for the proposed diagnosis discomfort initially focused on concept delineation, but moved into a format of concept clarification because of the lack of consensus on the clinical manifestations of discomfort. Contextual usage of Comfort in the Literature By analyzing the contextual usage of the word comfort from literatures on theology, business, engineering, society, and nursing, attributes of comfort as well as antecedent to and outcomes from comfort were found. In the Old Testament, Bromiley (1976) described that the words comfort are used for 15 Hebrew terms and also occur in free renderings. Mostly, however, they are used for nДЃham, and this makes comfort the main sense, especially in bereavement which is evident in the writings of the Holy Bible in Genesis 24:67. Comfort in the Old Testament (OT) as explained by Bromiley (1976) refers also to human and divine comfort. When the OT refers comfort as human comfort, it

Thus, wellness and healthy can be used interchangeably. The UC Davis Student health and counseling services explains that wellness has eight dimensions: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, physical, social, and intellectual. Each dimension of wellness is interrelated with another and they are all equally vital in the pursuit of optimum health. Health s the body s ability to adapt to a variety of stresses or challenges maintaining a state of equilibrium that is physical, mental, and emotional. Based on the following information it can be easily reasoned that health should be considered a basic human right. Difficulty accessing healthy food based off of geographic location, denied access to healthcare treatments based off of individuals economic capacity, and denied access to health care based off of where a person is born should not happen. Those who encounter Hyde notice he projects a different type of appearance, and while they cannot verbalise it, they feel that something is wrong. When Mr Enfield describes Hyde s appearance to Mr Utterson, he says, He is not easy to describe. There is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable. I never saw a man I so disliked, and yet I scarce know why. He must be deformed somewhere; he gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn t specify the point. He s an extraordinary looking man, and yet I really can name nothing out of the way. His deformities are hidden from plain sight, but human nature notices them. Michael Davis states, Hyde s pathology, real enough in its effects on others, is nonetheless ghostly rather than material, somehow present yet simultaneously absent, and so beyond the scope of mapping or diagnosis in physical terms. While Hyde is a person and has a tangible effect on those around him, the features that produce such an effect are invisible. By saying they are ghostly , a haunting aura surrounds Hyde, which also creates the terrified emotion in those around him. Conversely, if one were to study Hyde and his features, they would find no apparent difference between him and others. This phenomenon suggests that there is a factor deeper than his physical deformity in the

While at this time, this assumption was greatly appreciated considered, many economists have to come to the realization that there are a lot of flaws associated with this view. RNAi would not be an example of genetic mutation because genetic mutation entails permanent alteration of the nucleotide sequence of the genome. RNAi controls the genes to cause them to become silenced by using dsRNA, which does not alter the nucleotide sequence. The mRNA degrades in the process. 2.Once dsRNA is injected it binds to Dicer, an endonuclease proteinthat cuts RNA into short segments of 21 nucleotides long that are siRNA or micro RNAs. The short dsRNA binds to an argonaute protein and a guide strand is selected. The RNA, argonaute protein, and other proteins are called the RNA Induced Silencing Complex (RISC). Micro RNA s help guide RISC to messenger RNA s. The seed, part of the micro RNA, pairs with a target messenger RNA. Targeting by a micro RNA can lead to messenger RNA to be degraded or translation from being inhibited. Antisense RNA alone is not sufficient to evoke an RNAi response because the RNA needs to go through many steps with the help of other proteins to be able to have the ability to achieve RNAi. 3. ... It is important to keep healthy and get checkups that can help detect anything abnormal to be able to treat any cancer as soon as possible. Being able to find ovarian cancer at an early stage can make all the difference. Fortunately stage one of ovarian cancer has a very high survival rate. Ovaries are about four centimeters long and hold about one million eggs in each of the ovaries when a female is born. They are found on each side of a female s uterus in the pelvis. Both ovaries are held by ligaments right above the fallopian tubes. They are the female reproductive gland that produces ova, which are also known as the eggs. The Misconceptions Of Pit Bulls And Pitbulls The Bullied Bullies When people think of loyal dogs with a friendly demeanor, puppy like face, and a wagging tail, they typically would imagine a Golden Retriever or a Labrador Retriever. However, out of these people, many of them would not expect a Pit Bull to fit into the same categories. Pit bulls are the most bred dogs in America, and yet, one million Pit Bulls are euthanized every year, and only one in 600 Pit Bulls born will ever find a loving home ( Pit Bulls and Euthanasia Rates ). This is a result of misconceptions about Pit Bulls that millions of people today still believe. A widely believed misconception about the term Pit Bullis that it is an actual dog breed. However, this is false, and it is simply a category for different dog breeds with similar characteristics, such as the American Staffordshire, the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier , the American Bulldog, and any mixes between these breeds. These breeds all came from the breeding of English Terriers and English Bulldogs to obtain desired sizes and characteristics. Most Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are strong, powerful dogs with broad, brick like heads and muscular bodies ( About Dog Breeds: Pit Bull ) and have a large variety of different fur colors. Because of their strength and loyalty, Pit Bulls have been taken advantage of by people who use them for fighting and money; when dog fighting rings are broken up, usually word spreads and causes many people

The hype surrounding it, along with the action packed trailer, completely captured my interest. Naturally, it was the one and only movie that I was completely forbidden to see. No amount of pleading could sway my parents decision, much to my increasing dismay. Fast forward a few years later, and sixteen year old me is still begging to see this one movie. Eventually, after two years of asking and begging to see this movie, my father finally said yes. Zach Snyder s comic adapted movie 300 is full of everything any viewer could ever want: attractive actors and lots of blood, guts, and glory. David Wenham plays the Spartan warrior Dilios, who I believe gives the most inspiring speech that any R rated movie has ever produced. Dilios speech at the end of the movie 300 is exceedingly effective in its purpose to motivate and persuade the massive army of Greeks and Spartans to fight the hordes of Xerxes armies. In the final speech to the army of Spartans and Greeks in the movie 300, Dilios tells the men of the brave sacrifice of King Leonidas and his three hundred men who fought and died at the Battle of Thermopylae. Although, they were greatly outnumbered by the armies of Xerxes and eventually were defeated, their story traveled far and wide across the land. Dilios, the last and only survivor of the Battle of Thermopylae, brought their glorious tale back to Sparta, where it spread
  • 35. The Seven Amendments The constitution of the United States of America is the founding document on which the government of America is built. It currently has twenty seven amendments. It lines out the specific government practices as well as the system of check and balances. It was first drafted July, 1787 after the first form of government, the articles of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a point where it became almost redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the acting continental congress decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution was efficient and fair and it kept the parts of government in place while not giving too much power to one or more branches. After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and rights that the average citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are the foundation on what the freedom of America is built with. The amendments spell out the freedoms that Americans had, everything from the right of religious freedoms to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly debated subjects today. They made America what America was, the freest country in the world Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects Religion and the right to practice it. The first amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of
  • 36. Aristotle And Jean Jacques Rousseau And Rousseau On The... People such as Buddhist monks devote their lives to the search for virtue through isolation and meditation. Others believe that just simply living your life as a generous person and practicing self preservation is virtuous. These two different, yet similar ideas of virtuous living came from the two philosophers known as Aristotle and Jean Jacques Rousseauand their works in the Nicomachean Ethicsand Discourse on The Origin of Inequality. Aristotle believed that the individual had to meet multiple qualifications in order to truly be virtuous; rather than Rousseau who thought a virtuous person simply needed to preserve their own life and have the virtue pity, or defined by him as your natural impulses. While they both disagree on whether impulse or habit is the key to becoming virtuous or even what virtue is, they agree that we pursue the virtuous life in order to avoid pain. Jean Jacques Rousseau in The Origin of Inequality talks briefly about a savage man in the state of nature and what makes him virtuous. Rousseau said, Qualities that can harm an individual s preservation vices in him and those than can contribute to its virtues. In that case it would be necessary to call the one who least resists the simple impulses of nature the most virtuous, (35). When reading this, one can clearly see Rousseau depicts the virtuous person being the savage man who gives into his impulses. He believes that man should only fulfill his natural impulses of sex, sleep, and food in

How Did Monty Python Influence Comedy Garrison Denton Barnett English IV Honors 17 April 2015 Monty Python s Influence on Comedy Monty Python, a British acting group from the 70 s, influenced comedy by incorporating new experiments with form and content. They were broadcasted by BBC from 1969 1974. Their show flying circus pushed the limits of what was acceptable. It was a sketch show that had a hint of consciousness that stretched the style of what was being broadcasted during this time period. They came into the business with new style and characteristics with a vision to pursue and they would not let the mainstream comedian ruin their plan to stand out and receive success. The Python s troupe was looking to try something new and unnatural. Monty Python s Flying Circus was written and performed by its stars, and loosely based on the existing sketch show set up. However, its unique premise followed a string of consciousness format. . They chose to push the limits of their genre and try to expand their audiences overseas with the film And now for Something Completely Different. . Poetry Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Analysis of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African Americanconsciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather together and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because, of shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. In the opening lines of the poem, the reader

  • 42. Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand? By Jihad Mohd Erfino Introduction: Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It questions the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical research purposes. Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many question whether it should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions. Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd century BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was the first one to have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was to find out how our bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th century by William Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human medical advances. It has helped developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio which has almost been eradicated. It has also have helped humans to have a better understanding of our bodily mechanisms, function and several diseases. Some diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated better due to animal testing discoveries. YearMedical AdvancementAnimal credited 1796Smallpox vaccine developedCow 1881

Purpose: To determine whether positive reinforcement has a bigger effect on speed or accuracy, and to what degree. Research: When I took AP Psychology last year, I learned that positive reinforcement will reinforce someone s behavior by making them associate the behavior with a positive stimulus. In my experience, rushing through things usually causes me to have a faster time, but a lower score. In a study published February of 1990, it was stated that teachers systematic use of certain categories of verbal statements, such as praise and reprimands, can have a positive impact on student behavior, achievement, or both. This seems to indicate that positive reinforcement and encouragement may have an effect on the achievement of students. However I was unable to find a study comparing the accuracy and speed of participants in a study, and so I will have to make a few assumptions of my own based on previous knowledge in order to form a hypothesis. One of the first schools of management thought, the classical management theory, developed during the Industrial Revolution when new problems related to the factory system began to appear. Managers were unsure of how to train employees (many of them non English speaking immigrants) or deal with increased labor dissatisfaction, so they began to test solutions. As a result, the classical management theory developed from efforts to find the one best way to perform and manage tasks. It arose because of the need to increase productivity and efficiency. The emphasis was on trying to find the best way to get the most work done by examining how the work process was actually accomplished and by scrutinizing the skills of the workforce. Later on there were many developments in the field, but the role and importance of this school remains almost unparallel and they can be grouped among the most influential of all the theorists because it was these theories that the later day schools and thoughts took as their beginning point. Even today,

The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering includes charcoal and wood sand as an alternative helping increase electric current by 2 volts. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery July 28, 2011) Baghdad Battery

He liked the power that he had and wanted to gain more, no matter what he has to do to get it. Macbeth had an encounter with the three witches and they had told him that he will become the next king. Although the witches did say this it did not mean that it was certain, it was just a possibility. But when Macbeth realized the opportunity for power he knew he wanted to become the king. This passage was in part of the letter that Macbeth wrote to Lady Macbeth: Whiles I stood rapt in the wonder of it came missives from the King, who all hailed me Thane of Cawdor, by which title, before, these Weird Sisters saluted me and referred me to the coming on of time with Hail, king that shalt be (1.5.6 10). .
