Similarities Between Wordsworth And Muir
Two talented literary authors William Wordsworth and John Muir express their emotions towards
through their writing; their belletristic stories depict how their experiences with nature positively
impacted their lives while giving them constant memories that will stay with them forever. Both
Wordsworth and Muir used syntax and diction to verbalize their passionate relationship towards
nature.
In I Wandered Lonely as a CloudWilliam Wordsworthwrites of a lonely day while out for a walk;
until he stumbles across a bed of beautiful golden daffodils dancing in the breeze.
Wordsworth writes: A poet could not be but gay, in such a jocund company (stanza3). In this
passage, Wordsworth uses words like jocund, and gay to express the joy he felt when he found the
beautiful daffodils. Wordsworth also uses the syntax in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muir fills with excitement from his discovery; he describes the joy he felt over calypso in the
following quote: It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down
beside it and fairly cried for joy . In this passage, Muir used words like spiritual to explain Calypso s
beauty and used the phrase fairly cried for joy to express what great happiness they had flower
brought to him.
After reading and analyzing Wordsworth s poem and Muir s essay, I can see that both men use
writing as a creative way to express their love for nature all around them.
In Wordsworth s poem, he used syntax and diction to show how the flowers changed his once
depressed lonely mood to positive and grateful. While in Muir s essay, he also uses diction to tell
his story of finding calypso and his overwhelming sense of happiness when he finally sat by the
beautiful flower.
In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways,
but it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same

Conformity In The Giver
The survival of civilization and society has primarily revolved around one key aspect,
conformity. Conformity among a society s people ensures that certain rules are being followed,
and are intended to establish order and equality among the general public. However, too much
conformity is not beneficial to the individual nor does it help the group in the long run. In Lois
Lowry s dystopian novel The Giver, people live in a seemingly utopian society where everyone
has converted to sameness in order to preserve a true sense of equality and structure. The society,
with the use of pills provided by their political powers, are incapable of seeing color, have no
memories, and are contained within their own environment. Jobs or positions are chosen

Summary Of Time And The Conways And A Dream Play
Time and the Conways (1937) and A Dream Play (1901) play with the idea of time as nonlinear.
Influenced by John William Dunne, Priestley begins to investigate his own conception of time as
the past, present, and future all happening at once. Strindberg, although he wrote A Dream Play
ahead of Dunne and Priestley, also expounds on similar ideas linking timeand dreams. Dreams can
free us from viewing time s structure as fixed and linear. Therefore, both playwrights begin to
make theatre audiences aware of new ideas about how to perceive time and the use of dreams
/precognitive states. Utilizing Dunne s basic theory of non linear time, I will talk about how we
can apply this to readings of Time and the Conways and A Dream Play to explore themes of
dreams and perception of time.
Most notable to J.B. Priestley, who was heavily influenced by this work, was John William Dunnes
An Experiment with Time . In Dunne s work, he talks about that all time is happening at once so
that every moment is proceeding right now. However, humans experience time in linear fashion.
To comprehend time, we must clearly separate past, present, and future. Dunne also explores the
theory that only when we dream, time is no longer limited to linear concrete interpretation that we
experience in our waking hours. The idea of nonlinear time in dreams relates to Strindberg s A
Dream Play and some sections of Time and the Conways. However, Dunne was not taken seriously
by his contemporaries due to his lack

How Did Clara Barton Influence The American Red Cross
Clara Barton was born December 25, 1821 on Christmas Day at Oxford, Massachusetts. Clara s
father was Captain Stephen Barton and her mother was Sara Stone Barton. Clara was the
youngest of four siblings. When Clara was eleven years old her brother fell off the roof of a
barn and became very ill. Clara had to take care if him for two years and found out that she
enjoyed helping and taking care of others. This started Clara s journey of helping and caring for
others by shaping and building the American Red Crossin the United States.
Clara s mother always taught her that people should be treated equally. When Clara was
working at a school they wanted to pay her less than what men were paid. She was an excellent
teacher and she did not agree with this so she argued with them and they agreed to pay her the
full wage. This started Clara s fight for women s rights. Clara became an advocate for women s
rights. Throughout her life she was a supporter of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clara and her sister Sally found out that the soldiers did not have basic medical supplies for their

battlefield to take care of the soldiers she would travel from battle to battle to help the soldiers.
The soldiers like Clara they started calling her the Angel of the Battlefield. One time Clara was
helping a soldier with a cup of water when a bullet passed killing the soldier. She looked down
and the bullet had gone through her sleeve almost killing her at the same time. By the fourth year
of the war in 1865, Clara was appointed to be the Superintendent of Nurses for the Army of James

was taken prisoner by the Union Army. Unfortunately, after months of nursing him he still ended up

It s An Old Hollywood Tale That The Legendary Louis B. Mayer
There s an old Hollywood tale that the legendary Louis B. Mayer once said A verbal agreement
ain t worth the paper it s printed on. This may not be totally true but as recent case demonstrates
regarding the rightful ownership of an application known as Snapchat, the words of Mr. Mayer
reinforce a bit of vintage wisdom that contracting parties should always put their agreements in
writing. Louie Mayer wasn t entirely correct as a verbal agreement in lieu of a written contract is
still generally binding and, no matter how brief, is still a contract. In fact, most binding legal
agreements can be oral agreements. In 2011, Three Stanford undergraduates started developing an
online application which, in a chat setting, allows one computer user to send visual media like
pictures to other computer users. After a short period of time the pictures become unavailable.
Reggie Brown was basically the catalyst and the idea s originator, Robert Murphy handled the
technical programming aspect, and Evan Spiegel pushed the project forward. It doesn t sound like
much but today the value of this company is in the tens of billions of dollars. Upon discussing the
idea, the three young men then decided to proceed and allegedly formalized their agreement with
nothing more than a handshake. From this point on, as the project moved forward in development,
they failed to set forth and sufficiently detail, in writing, any of their agreements and resolutions
regarding any essential terms of

The Cultural Framework Of Saudi Arabia
Introduction Culture is a set of basic assumptions and values, orientations to life, beliefs, policies,
procedures, and behavioral conventions that are shared by a group of people and that impacts each
member s behavior. Culture is extremely powerful. It is so deeply rooted in people s subconscious
that it has permeated every aspect of individuals and groups way of life. Culture is evident in one s
biological processes, emotional responses, intellectual pursuits, social interactions, and worldview
construction. Culture influences what we can eat, what we cannot wear, how we interact with
different people, and yes, even how we use the library. Navigating the intricate connection among,
culture, education, and gender, this essay will discuss the different library practices among Saudi
male and female students. The Cultural Framework of Saudi ArabiaTo better understand the library
practices among Saudi men and women, one has to acquaint himself/herself with the complex
cultural framework of Saudi Arabia. In this section, we will explore the influence of religion in the
Saudi culture, particularly in education and by extension, existing library practices.
Islam: The Cornerstone of Saudi Culture, of Education, and of the Library In as much as culture
affects who we are collectively and individually, culture is also determined by different factors

My Best Vacation
The best vacation ever! my cousin Vicky screamed from the bed next to me. I was just trying to
fall sleep, but she kept talking most of the night with her twin sister Emma. We all have the same
age, and this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what
to do. We arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hoteland tried to rest.
The next day we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was
coming from Texas. Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the
world with her father since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really
knowledgeable about traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to
Acapulco. We planned to go to La Quebrada , it s a place in Acapulco where people do cliff
diving. We had done some research about it. The divers have to climb the cliff and do a freestyle
jump into the water. We couldn t wait to be there, Annette was going to be really happy too, she
used to compete in platform diving when she was in high school. The hotel room phone rang
pretty early the next day. Our parents checking on us, making sure we were ok. Emma talked to
her mother and assured her that everything was ok and that we will be careful driving around. It
was funny, I looked at her facial expressions meanwhile she is talking, and Emma rolls the eyes
and nods a lot. Emma is the opposite of his sister Vicky. Vicky talks a lot but she s a scary cat, on
the other hand, Emma is quieter but really adventurous. Liz, my uncle wants you on the phone!
Emma announced. I picked up the phone and got myself ready for the lecture. My father was
concerned that we were going alone to Mexico. I promised that we were going to stay in
Acapulco a couple of days and go back to California. Don t do stupid things my father continued,
and, take care of each other. Annette arrived at midday, we were happy to see each other again.
We decided to go the movies. We say the premier of Batman Returns , the line at the movie theater
was extremely long, but we were so excited that the next day we will be flying to Mexico that the

Justification Of Revolt In America
Justification of Revolt The American colonists came to North America to part from Britain and
its monarchy. They called America the New World, a land for new beginnings. The King, or the
Royal Brute of Great Britain, thought of the New World as a token in which he could benefit
from. He used America for its cotton, gold, and to show that Britain was the most powerful
country. King George III took advantage of the colonists and America s resources. The colonists
wished to separate from Great Britain and had enough spirit to be able to win the war. The
American colonists were justified in breaking away from Britain and initiating the Revolutionary
War because parliament was passing absurd laws and acts, withdrawing colonial freedom, and
disrupting the peace among colonial citizens ; however, one may consider that the colonists were
the blame for the Revolutionary War happening at all. Parliament had passed many laws without
consulting those in the colonies. In result, America was denied the right to colonial currency,
Britain cut off trade with America, and the King placed a tax on all paper items. The Sugar,
Townshend, and Stamp Acts were all unreasonable and caused disruption among the colonies. Even
published in Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania a man said There is another late act of
parliament, which appears to me to be unconstitutional. [...] Never did the British parliament, [until
the passage of the Stamp Act] think of imposing duties in America for the

Air Pollution Is A Serious Issue Across The Country
Air pollution is a serious issue across the country as well as the entire planet. Whether that air
pollution is coming from one source, which could be an electric power plant, or air pollution that
occurs due to a location being inside of a valley, which can be seen famously in Los Angeles,
California. A more local issue can be seen within the Merrimack Countyof New Hampshirewhere
along the Merrimack River the surrounding communities are at a disadvantage due to being inside
of a valley. Due to the communities being inside of a valley much of the air pollution has no way
to escape at a relatively fast rate, thus causing serious air pollution within the area. Solutions for the
problem of air pollution can include, but are not limited to,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

New Hampshire is not alone in the issues that they are facing when it comes to air pollution.
Other issues that cause the air pollution of a community to be an issue is the use of incinerators to
generate electricity for the community. Although this kind of method does benefit certain aspects
of the environment, the idea of not having a landfill, it does cause other issues where there are
more emissions that pollute the air. Although not located within the Merrimack County one
incinerator located in New Hampshire does give people a look into how these kinds of structures
cause issues with the air quality. Authors Xiahong Feng, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue
describe issues that come from one incinerator located in Claremont, New Hampshire. The authors
talk about how there are many metals that are released into the air causing poor air quality within
the community surrounding it (Feng, Xiahong, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue 2000). Those
kinds of issues do also correlate with the issues of young children developing chronic breathing
problems due to being located near those kinds of electric plants.
Another issues that is not exclusive to New Hampshire but is prevalent due to high amount of
granite rock located within the states, is the issue of radon that can cause issues with air quality as
well. Although there is direct cause for radon being in

When Google began, like any other company, management was very important. It was the baby of
Larry Page and Sergey Brin who were both students at Stanford during this time. The two had a
unique perspective on global information. Page and Brin rarely did things the conventional way
but there company was started on a basic structure. Google had added two new positions from
2004 but even those additional positions aren t the major catalysts of Google s managerial success
(Stross, 2008).
Page, in his first major reorganization since taking the reins as CEO earlier this week, placed
executives leading the groups directly under his supervision, eliminating management layers
thought to slow product development, according to sources familiar with the situation (Oreskovic.
A 2011). By bringing Gen Y ers into top management teams may provide the knowledge and
energy to speed up the renewal of American business leadership and American business. For
startups, we already bring in adult supervision to complement the skills and knowledge of
entrepreneurial kid techies. For the thousands of big companies lumbering along the 21st century,
it s time to bring the little fockers into shared power. At the moment, the world is just too complex
for Boomer CEOs. We need B Y team leadership. We need to follow the standard that Google has
put forth.
Explain senior management s role in preparing the organization for its most recent change.

Procrastination Essays
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;To procrastinate is to put off doing something out of casual
carelessness or common laziness. It often needlessly postpones or delays events or objectives in
your life which can effect others. Procrastination is almost like a drug in your life, because once
you start doing it a little bit, it slowly adds up to a dependency that you will find to be common
habit. Although this is what we all perceive procrastination to be bad, there are some benefits to it.
It can have beneficial impact on how you take pressure, or how well you can act when time is
limited. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Procrastination is something that you don t naturally have an

But it will progressively add up in most cases, the student will start to not study like they know
they should be, but rather they go and do something else that isn t as beneficial. After a while
that people start to do this they think its not bad, even thought they are missing a few points
here and there from lowered studies and completed work. But it can eventually lean up to
skipping classes, which is one of the worse things you can do while in college, since generally
there are no make ups for missed assignments and test. This can then hurt your grades entirely,
and therefore may have you retake certain classes or take another year. This in turn can cause
financial problems if it where to happen on multiple occasions, then can effect your later life on
paying off the bills or charges that were made from it. Procrastination is not always a very bad
thing though; there are some points in your life that it could prove to be a plus. If done enough
you will be use to doing things last minute, which could possibly help you in your career with
handling pressure when you boss tells you do something within a set amount of time. Also
extended amounts of doing this bad habit could help you learn to take pressure better, as example
when you have a huge paper due by the next morning and you need to keep your self calm or else
it will show when your writing the paper. Even though these sound like positive measures to

The silence grew long. Finally, Williams turned to look at Barton. Speechless was not a word
most people could imagine applying to Jim Barton. His energy and outspokenness as head of the
Loan Operations department made him one of IVK s most dynamic executives, a key player and a
likely CEO someday of a different company, if not this one. But the news Williams had conveyed
moments before had left Barton silent, dumbfounded. A few minutes earlier Barton had rushed to
William s office, summoned for his turn with the new chief. All morning, leadership team
members had marched down that hallway one at a time, each after receiving a phone call, each
on a journey to discover his or her fate. As the executive assistant greeted him courteously and
waved him in, Barton allowed himself some optimism. Most likely, he thought, he was about to

The Hunger Artist
Sacrifice is the act of giving up something of value to gain something that is considered to be
more important than what was given up; hunger is a form of sacrifice. The Hunger Artist by Franz
Kafka, is an interesting short story that describes a man s dark and depressing life. In this man s
life he is a hungerartist who starves himself to make small amounts of money and to gain attention
from his audiences. The hunger artist was a man who was separated from society by his fasting
and suffered from the harmful effects of his pride and confusion. The Hunger Artist is a short story
that tells about a man who starves himself for a living. The man in this story has no home and lives
a nomadic life. He tours around Europe with his manager... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The three main symbols in The Hunger Artist are the cage, clock, and the panther. The cage
represents how the hunger artist is separated from the rest of society. The man separated himself
from society from a physical sense by locking himself in a cage and not coming out. However,
he also separated himself from a mental standpoint by making his life revolve around his
audiences and putting their wants and needs above his own. This symbolism represents the cage
and how separation from society led to the hunger artist s downfall. The next symbol described
in the story is the clock. The clock was the only piece of furniture in the man s cage besides the
hay. The all important striking of the clock that was the only piece of furniture in his cage (333).
The clock represents that as time goes on the hunger artist s relationship with his audience
continues to fail which starts the domino effect that carries over to the man s mental health.
Ultimately the clock shows that the hunger artist s life is slowly ticking away and that he is
slowly killing his body and his mind. The last major symbolism used in the story is the panther.
The panther replaces the hunger artist in his cage after he passes away. The panther is the
complete opposite of the hunger artist. Furnished almost to the bursting point with all that it
needed, seemed to carry freedom around with it too (342). The panther was full of life and energy
and on top of that was well nourished. The panther is very well liked in the circus unlike the hunger
artist was. Another trait the panther possessed that the hunger artist did not was that the panther did
not require attention to be happy. If the hunger artist would have simply lived with this mindset his
life would have been so much more brighter and positive. The strong use of symbolism in this story
helps explain to the

Comparing The Infamy And Controversy Of The Sex Pistols
The Infamy and Controversy of The Sex Pistols Although the infamous band, The Sex Pistols,
only lasted 26 months and one album, they had no shortage of controversy. The Sex Pistols
were, and still are today, the definition of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It did not take long for
The Sex Pistols to stir controversy in the media. From the beginning of their existence, the media
portrayed them as no good punk anarchists. As documented in the film, The Filth and The Fury by
Julien Temple, it is clear why 1970 s conservative Britain would have an issue with the band. For
the first time, a group ignored the typical professionalism that was expected from the music

Punks used shock value for attention. For example, although the band has never made racist
comments or lyrics, bassist Sid Vicious was often spotted wearing swastikas. (Gildart 134 135).
Their fashion choices gave everyone another reason to talk about them. The media was putting
money in their pockets and helping them get their message across. The band members also got a
kick out of the anti punk headlines, no doubt. In some ways, the media was correct. The band
encouraged violence at their shows, Sid Vicious was even known to cut himself on stage
(Simonelli 134). However, the extent that people would go to prevent The Sex Pistols from
corrupting the youth of Britain was a bit ridiculous. Parents protested outside venues, saying they
would do whatever it takes to keep The Sex Pistols from playing, including using violence if
necessary (Gildart 136 137). Due to the protests and uproar that was caused, the band only ended
up playing 5 out of the scheduled 27 shows on their Anarchy tour. (Gildart 130). What the public
did not understand is that the people who chose to go to these shows knew what they were getting

ABSTRACT
The ever increasing carbon emissions from the automobiles all around the world has forced the
incorporation of novel , more sustainable means of non conventional fuels for the automobiles
like the hybrid cars , solar vehicles , the use of gasohol and alcohol based fuels is also considered
as an alternative for the conventional fuels and also the development of solar electric hybrid
vehicle. There are a lot of possibilities and feasible solutions for lowering the carbon emissions
from vehicles.

The trap oxidizer development in Greece is one of many scientific research done to reduce vehicle
emissions. The carbon dioxide capture using nanostructured membranes is also another way to
check the vehicle emissions. In this method single gas separation experiments were carried out
using silica modified membranes to study the behavior of individual gas permeation at different
pressures and temperatures.
1. Working of nanostructures membranes in capturing CO2 emission.
Design and fabrication of porous membranes comprises of many layers of different materials
namely: Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3), Titanium Oxide (TiO2), Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), Silicon
Dioxide (SiO2), Silicon Carbide, Zeolite, or a mixture of two materials applied on an underlying
porous stainless steel. The manner in which gas molecules flow is generally influenced by three
factors: The gas properties, morphology of the membrane and the material used for membrane
design. The technology is environment friendly, quite economical and efficient. It is applicable to
all forms of CO2 removal from other gases. Nanotechnology is being greatly used in this method
of carbon capture. Since 2003 vehicles have been built with on board communications network
protocol called CAN (Controlled Area Network).CANbus is basically a bridge between the
different modules and how they communicate with each other via the serial data

Under Armour Media s Impact On Society
Media has greatly influenced everyone s lives for decades; some of these influences are from
commercial ads played in between one s favorite TV show or during breaks in a football game.
Commercial ads have to showcase their product by appealing to the viewers emotions while also
being persuasive. In February, Under Armour released a commercial that has influenced many and
has taken a different route of persuasion, which showcased behind the scenes of a life of a
gymnast. The Rule Yourself ad campaign shows gymnasts training day and night to go to the 2016
Rio Summer Olympics. Rule Yourself by Under Armour depicts their brand by not selling a

commercial by showing off their insane skills, dedication and fitness. The scenes in the
commercial are very dramatic cutting in and out on each gymnast to show how much work they
put in. The commercial starts at dawn when the gymnasts start training and stretching and goes
into the night where they come out under the lights of the Olympics. In between day and night
the gymnasts are doing repetitive back tucks, rope climbing, training on all the events and
working out. The catch is that all the gymnasts are wearing Under Armour brand clothing while
doing these activities all day. At the end of the commercial the tagline It s what you do in the
dark that puts you in the light is shown to add more effect to how hard athletes work. The tagline
shows that Under Armour believes that working all day into the night is when one will truly

Investors do not like to see this and so inevitable just as quickly as the figures were announced,
their shares plummeted: from 14p to ВЈ10.54 (Fletcher, 2010). It s clear the company needs to sort
this issue out and develop a strategy that will enable them to make profits in all the markets they
are in. The question that needs to be asked is: Why is our strategy working in Africa and Asia but
not in Europe and North America?
In 2009 Diageo announced that it was to reduce its work force in the Glasgow and Kilmarnock
plants in Scotland by 900 workers. The company faced wide spread criticism from both the
Scottish government and trade unions for their refusal to negotiate or adopt a compromise
suggested by the Scottish government, which could have saved at least some of these workers
jobs. Considering the brand had been linked to Kilmarnock for almost two centuries and most
workers had been working in the plants for generations, the way in which they were treated by the
company, was abominable. (Maddox 2009) This event however, highlighted a weakness between
the workforce and the managers of the company which could be the source of many problems in
future. If workers in other plants, as result of the Kilmarnock/Glasgow incident assume that the
company views them as disposable labour, not only could the company land themselves a
demotivated workforce; which in turn could lead to shirking

Common Core State Standards Initiative
Common Core: To Be or Not to Be Politics and education have been intertwined since the
establishment of public education in the United States. In other words, it is a well known fact that
public education is an extension of our political system. This has never been more apparent to the
public than over the last three decades, beginning in 1983 with A Nation at Risk which is
considered a significant event in modern American educational history. For the last few years, it
has been the controversial topic of the Common Core State Standards Initiative in the headlines.
One can hardly turn on the news or read a newspaper or web site without hearing something about
Common Core State Standards (CCCS). People either seem to be adamantly for or against the
standards. Educational reform and educational standards are not new and date back much further
than many people realize. Furthermore, if the public understood what the standards actually
encompass, there may be more support for Common Core State Standards. However, the public is
being inundated with a multitude of reasons why states should not adopt Common Core by making
it a political issue in order to gain votes. Regardless of what standards are adopted, common
standards in educationshould be implemented in the United Statesto prepare students for college and
career in order to compete and succeed in a global economy.

Aluminum Nitrate Nonahydrate Lab Report
Aluminum isopropoxide (Al( O i Pr)3) and aluminum nitrate nonahydrate (ANN) were used as
alumina sources and tetra ethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a silica source. Mullite precursor gel
solution was prepared by dissolving stoichiometric amounts of aluminium isopropoxide and

Theme Of Barbie Doll And The Death Of Marilyn Monroie
Poetry has a way of expressing its rage, grief, and irony at society and its social pressures.
Although each poem is different, they can carry a similar message that resonance with its
audience. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and The Death of Marilyn Monroe by Sharon Olds
express how beauty weighs women s lives and cause a tragic end from being the perfect specimen.
Both discuss a similar theme but carry the message out a difference way. In order to understand its
similarities and differences it is necessary to analyze the text to find its denotation and connotation.
The poems Barbie Doll and The Death of Marilyn Monroeshare the themes of death and beauty, and
how beauty affects society.

Both poems use names from iconic beauty icons. Barbies are seen by little girls and are the first
things to influence how they should define beauty. Normally the dolls have skinny bodies and
small noses and are able to have multiple careers and are admired by men. Thus, little girls grow
up wanting to be like Barbie. Marilyn Monroe is a sex icon who looks other women began to
copy. Unlike Barbie she was curvy and had an acting career, but she was also adored by men.
Both icons influenced women on how to look and impress men, but the influence becomes
problematic and difficult to maintain because only dolls and superstars to can survive that life.
Even idols cannot survive that life, as proven by Monroe. Only Barbie, an object can be seen as the
perfect woman. Both poems use these names to highlight how impossible it is for women to seen
as normal or to be accepted as they are. Thus, an early death can happen when the pressure is too
much to handle and each poem has a tone of sadness at both women s death. However, the Death
of Marilyn Monroe encourages women to live and not be like the icons they admire, while Barbie
Doll see s it fit to strive for beauty until the

Relationship Between ASL And FSL
American Sign Language is the primary language of communication amongst the Deaf community
in the United States. American Sign Language, more commonly referred to as ASL, is intriguing
to many with the ability to hear. Any form of sign language can draw attention from most
bystanders. The use of bodily language as a singular form of communication is vastly different for
those who use body language as an aid for understanding a spoken conversation. Many hearing
people use body language absent mindedly, from opening a one s stance to display dominance, to
crossing arms to display uncertainty or insecurity. However, those who use sign language purposely
adjust their body language in coherence with what they are saying. For example, in ASL, one...

Derived from French Sign Language, ASL has grammar that differs greatly from American English
or even British English. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school
for the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native
language was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened
throughout the United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong.
Undoubtedly, ASL is a singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier
can result between hearing English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author
of Significant Gestures a book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language
barrier generally between hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students
would head to school every morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that
is all their own, but when the students were sent home the would be subjected to broken
communication through signs, oral speech, lip reading, and writing. Often the written
communication of deaf children is different from hearing students. As ASL is a separate language
from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical system. Tabak eloquently summed up the
difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the relatively innovative approaches being
implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time when deaf students at Austine
School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers and teachers. Now students at
Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the Deaf community here in the
United States. Hence the importance of ASL being recognized as its own language and not a
subsection of English as many hearing people

Plot Structure Of A Quest Analysis
The author supported the idea of stories being quests through this sentence. Not only did the
author describe what is needed for a story to be considered a quest, the author also described the
fundamental structure of a plot. The author uses the quest analogy in order to make the reader
aware of how stories have the same basic structure. This being the first chapter reinforces the
idea of the author introducing the structure of a plot. It would only be logical to start a book on
how to properly read and analyze books with the basics. How the author disguises the plot
structure as a structure of a quest is helpful because it makes it a much more easy way to connect
ideas. While most people are aware of a plot structure, it would be easier

Wars throughout Time
Sometime during the course of World War II, the United States became the most powerful nation in
the world. During the last two hundred or so years, the United States has fought ten major wars and
innumerable smaller military actions. For the most part it has been successful, in some instances
defeating some of the world s most powerful countries. In other instances it has simply been lucky.
A common threat throughout the nation s existence has been the practice of indifference and
neglect. Between wars the Army shrinks to a very small size. Funds and attention almost
disappear. This policy of the US Army may well indeed danger the nation s safety in the future

The lesson of maintaining a professional army repeated itself: trained professional officers and
troops are crucial. They can t be created overnight from militia. These observations were repeated
on the Indian frontiers and the Gulf of Mexico. Sadly, the British attacked Baltimore and burned
Washington D.C. Huge numbers of militia embarrassed themselves fighting against this
invasion. The regular regiments were expanded, but training and organization took time.
Leadership in Washington and on the field left a lot to be desired. Even though 286,000 men
served at one time or another during the war, their overall record was poor. A peace settlement
ended the war with no clear winner. (Almanac 209) nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Once again, as
soon as the war ended the country abandoned the Army. For the next thirty years or so it never
numbered more than a few thousand men. But very importantly, the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point was started in 1802. A small corp. of officers was able to accumulate. Because of the
lack of trust in the military, funds and actions were limited. The Army was just big enough to
provide engineers for seacoast forts and to fight Indians. The public s opinion all of a sudden
reversed itself. Constant expansion, especially in Texas, led to war with Mexico in 1845. Now the
Army was popular as it led regular and State/militia troops outside the country. About 79,000 men

African American Racial Relations
Academic researchers as well as media commentators frequently argue that race relations in the
United States have worsened considerably over the past decade. Many Americans would disagree or
have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is
continuously modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The
term racerelations is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial
formation. Instead it has a palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and
their members act toward one another (Howard 2009:1852).
In a recent interview, when asked where we stand on the topic of race relations President Barack
Obama stated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alone among the countries in the world, it has attempted to construct not just a state of different
tribes, but a nation of them white and black, Christian and Muslim, and many others, too. Its
sense of nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the
people within its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50%
of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later
Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years
later was re elected, in 2012. This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United
States. For instance, a 2013 Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of
black white marriage, but now 87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013).
Sociologists traditionally view multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of
assimilation of a particular group into society, which exemplifies racial progress in America ()

The eager to please and endearingly tame animals that we know today as the domestic dog

designated as dogs appear in the archaeological record at approximately 15,000 BP, recent analyses
of Paleolithic Canis cranial remains from the Czech Republic have been undertaken by Mietje

Stephen Leacock
Stephen Leacock
Born in Swanmore, England, Stephen Leacock was one of 11 children of an unsuccessful farmer
and an ambitious mother, a woman to whom Leacock no doubt owed his energetic and status
conscious nature. In 1891, while teaching at the prestigious Upper Canada College in Toronto,
Leacock obtained a modern language degree from the University of Toronto. In 1903, after
receiving a Ph.D. in political economy from the University of Chicago, he joined the staff of
McGill University, Montreal, as professor of politics and economics. Leacock s career as a
humorist began when he had some comic pieces published as Literary Lapses in 1910. This
successful book was followed by two more books of comic sketches, Nonsense Novels (1911) and

The son who wandered forth in the world was either killed by the cannibals or crawled home years
afterwards doubled up with rheumatism. So the old men made the proverb. But nowadays it is
exactly wrong. It is the rolling stone that gathers the moss. It is the ambitious boy from
Honkville, Indiana, who trudges off to the city leaving his elder brother in the barnyard and who
later makes a fortune and founds a university. While his elder brother still has only the old farm
with three cows and a couple of pigs, he has a whole department of agriculture with great sheds
full of Tamworth hogs and a professor to every six of them.
In short, in modern life it is the rolling stone that gathers the moss. And the geologists outside of
Tennessee say that the moss on the actual stone was first started in exactly the same way. It was the
rolling of the stone that smashed up the earth and made the moss grow.
Take another proverb:
All is not Gold that Glitters
How perfectly ridiculous! Everybody in the days in which we live knows even a child knows
that all is gold that glitters. Put on clothes enough, appearance enough and you will be accepted
anywhere. Just do a little glittering and everybody will think you are gold. Make a show, be a
humbug, and you will succeed so fast that presently, being very wealthy and prominent, you will
really think yourself a person of great merit and intellect. In other words, the glitter makes the gold.
That is all there is to it.

Olivia, I understand that you don t want to discuss the situation you re going through with Eli.
Of course, my heart breaks not only because you re my daughter, but I completely understand
how you feel because I ve been through the same thing many times when I was a teenager. It
sucks, it hurts, it makes you mad and it makes you very confused. I know you thought everything
was good with the two of you even though you were arguing for a month, but you never expected
him to break up with you. People who really care about each other sometimes break up because
they just figure it s the best thing to do at the time. If you both talked and agreed that you cared
enough about each other to make changes then you would be back together by now.

Piracy is A Problem, But the Stop Online Piracy Act is Not...
The internet is one of the few things in the world that is truly all over the world. Millions use the
internet every day for more reasons than one person can think of; to connect with family and
friends, find information for a research paper, or to achieve the perfect chicken masala recipe. The
internet is made up of a mass expanse of web content and copyright, which is where online piracy
comes in. Online piracy is the illegal use or distribution of copyrighted content, such as music,
films, and can even include pharmaceuticals. Millions of dollars are ripped off every year from
the illegal downloading of just music. In the visual that I have included you will see that America
tops the list of music illegally downloaded from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The terminology of the act is also too broad and general; it would give the government an
unreasonable amount of power over the internet. The law could potentially be manipulated to
censor the internet. Those prosecuted for copyright infringement would be given the bare minimum
of their due process rights. Websites could potentially be shut for just mentioning something
copyrighted or having a link to the copyrighted content. SOPA will put enormous pressure on third
party websites to police their forums with an intensity that would eventually cause pandemonium.
Sophie Stalla Bourdillon, a lecturer at the University of Southampton Law School stated in her
article about internet intermediaries that how can one promote freedom of expression while
expecting Internet intermediaries to take the initiative to police their systems or networks and in
particular to react upon infringements of Intellectual Property (IP) rights. Youtube reported that

Enron Of Natural Gas Pipelines Enron
Introduction In 1985 after federal deregulation of natural gas pipelines Enron was formed through
a merger of Houston Natural Gas, and Nebraska pipeline company Internorth. Enron went on to
create energy derivatives and in 1990 formed Enron Finance Corp. By 1996 Enron had also
formed Enron Capital and Trade Resources increasing their growth from $2 billion to $7 billion
and increasing division employment from 200 to 2,000. In 1999 Enronentered the technology
market by creating Enron Online (EOL). By August of 2000 Enron stock hit its zenith at $90.56
/share and the firm was widely admired and emulated. Behind the scenes Enron faced increasing
market competition and energy prices began to decline as the world economy entered into a
recession. Enron began to use related party transactions and special purpose entities (SPEs) to
obscure the firm s leverage ratios in order to maintain their credit rating. It would be the use of the
SPEs that eventually cause Enron to materially restate their financials resulting in their insolvency
and demise in 2001 (Thomas, 2002).
Issues
Numerous factors impacting Enron lead to perceived solutions exacerbating the issues and
escalating the magnitude of fraud perpetuated. As time progressed Enron faced increasing
competition while simultaneously enduring the effects of the beginning of economic recession.
The above issue increased the pressure on executives to continue posting performance numbers

The Birth Order Effect On Personality
The Birth Order Effect on Personality:
Is there a Cause or no Cause?
Roxan Rivas
Introduction
Throughout the years, researchers have come to believe that birth order is an important factor in
our lives, almost as important as gender or even genetics. This ties back to the old Nature vs
Nurture theory, where it is not only our biology that defines who we are and what we do, it is a
mixture of both our environment and our genes that help us develop as a whole. Whether you are
an only child, a first born, last born, or somewhere in between, some researchers have found that
this is important in defining your character, your values, goal orientation, and life successes.
Psychology has gone through periods of accepting these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The GSS allows comparison between first born(FB) and later born(LB) from different families.
Overall, these two articles put into perspective the validity of birth order but also the general
development of personalities and achievement goals within children. These two perspectives are
helpful in depicting some uprising issues with both theories and will give us a holistic view on the
topic.
The first article communicates that birth order has an effect on personality and achievement. One
of the things that these researchers noticed is that there are many differences between family
designs such as social class, parental personality, and sibling size. However, they do not attempt to
control this as much because they feel it takes away from the natural control of the study. Their
predictions were that first born (FBs) would be more conscientious and achieving while later born
(LBs) would be perceived as more liberal, agreeable, and rebellious. They collected 4 within
family data sets by asking respondents to compare themselves to their siblings on various
personality and achievement dimensions. In study one, students from the University of California,
Berkeley were asked to nominate the rebel and the achiever in their families. Study 2 also had the

HIV Treatment Plan
Diseases, infections, and viruses effect the population around the world each and every day. One of
those viruses is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or better known as HIV. HIV is a virus that
attacks the immune system, causing it to become weak and vulnerable. HIV can later on turn into
AIDS, or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. There is currently no known cure for HIVor
AIDS, but there are treatment plans available to help prolong HIV from turning into AIDS.
There are three stages of Human Immunodeficiency Virus. The beginning stage of HIV is Acute
Retroviral Syndrome, where symptoms may or may not first start occurring. At about one to four
weeks after infection takes place, the infected person can start experiencing flu like symptoms.
During this stage, the virus attacks CD4 cells using them to replicate and destroy already existing
cells. The next stage is called Clinical Latency, or chronic HIV infection. At this time no symptoms

Lacan once said, in an unpublished seminar, “the Oedipus...
Lacan once said, in an unpublished seminar, the Oedipus Complex is a dream of Freud (Felman,
1034). It is a questionable theory and a so called dream because Sigmund Freud developed the
Oedipus complex in such a way that allowed him to stand as an example of his own theory. It
begins with what Freud would call introspection ; the analysis of one s self. He developed terms to
use in his psychoanalysis; terms that divide the self and attempt to explain aspects of the human
personality. Adding to the questionability of the theory is the category of myth with which the
theory was named. The story of Oedipushappens to be one of the few Greek stories that do not fall
under the sinful and incestuous category. Alternatively, the Theogony

According to Freud, repression is what keeps us from realizing that men love their mothers and
want to kill their fathers. Reluctance is the proof that one had these desires because it is evidence
of embarrassment. Finally, the unconscious is where these desires reside until acted on, or until one
overcomes the desire and represses them further.
The Oedipal complex can be applied to many myths, but those that best represent the theory are
in the Theogony. A good beginning is to examine the birth of the twelve titans from Gaia, also
known as Mother Earth, who conceives them with Ouranos, Father Sky. Two of the titans,
Kronos and Rhea, behave in an Oedipal fashion. Kronos castrates his father Ouranos which
would not have been fulfilled without Gaia s help. This castration fulfills the patricidal aspect in
Freud s theory. Because Kronos was able to overcome his desire for his mother, he was
rewarded with the next best thing to Gaia, Rhea, his sister. Kronos and Rhea then gave birth to
the Olympians who all, but Zeus, get swallowed by Kronos. Zeus, also acting in an Oedipal
fashion overthrows his father Kronos, with help from his mother, Rhea. This demonstrates, yet
another example of overcoming the desire for one s mother and being rewarded with a very
similar mother figure. A cycle is established which reaches its end when Hera has a son,
Hephaestus, who is a lame god. Hera, unlike all the women

Comparing Two Pictures To Compare And Contrast Mcdonald...
Comparison contrast essay

I d like to talk to you about differences and similarities of two pictures. I ll show you the picture,
one is a Donald McDonald, the other is Kernel Sanders.
There are two photographs, one is the mascot character and the other is the founder of the fast food
shop which are famous in the United States and of course Japan. It is so famous that no one in the
world knows these two people.
First, I d like to compare these two pictures. The obvious difference about two people is that
Donald is a fictional character, and that the Kernel is a real person. Talking about Donald, 96% of
the children in the United States know him and United States one of the famous fast food
propaganda characters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these two pictures are considered red color scheme. Since both are restaurants, I
wondered if the red would have an impact on our willingness to purchase and the consciousness
of eating and drinking. There are a lot of effects in red, and here, I d like to talk two effects. The
color of red promotes the adrenaline secretion in the brain, and has the effect of increasing man s
hunger feeling. And, there is work to help digestive activity, too. Therefore, when the red sign and
the red object come into your eyes, you feel hungry, and go into the store. And, the red color has
the effect of showing the hot dishes so that the temperature is high. The cooking of the warm
atmosphere makes the image which is fresh. In addition, it s common for Donald and the kernel to
be smiling. Smiles increase customer sentiment and lead to customer satisfaction. By the way
Donald is a mascot character, McDonald s is selling a smile at 0 yen. It was very refreshing to see
an image of a rival fast food restaurant from a contrasting viewpoint and a similar perspective. It
was a good experience to be able to know that the color scheme which made a lot of red was both
because there was a similar intention and that both companies are fighting a similar commercial

Servant Leadership And The Board Of Directors
Servant Leadership the Board of Directors
Introduction
What is the proper relationship between a servant leader within an organization and the board of
directors that provides organizational oversight and direction for the organization? What does the
literature reflect about this particular dynamic, and how do power and politics of an organization
function vis Г vis servant leadership? These issues will be discussed in this paper.
Servant Leader and the Board of Directors
The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others (Albert
Schweitzer) (Keith, 2010).
Dr. Kent M. Keith was a presenter on behalf of the Greenleaf Seminar on Servant Leadership at the
53rd annual conference for the Arizona School Boards Association in December, 2010. He
correctly pointed out that servant leadership is about serving others, about becoming distinguished
through the altruistic desire to serve, and about the ...universal recognition of the importance of
serving others (Keith, 2010).
Servant leadership is not about acquiring or wielding power but rather it is about leading which
can help an organization become a powerful servant to others in the sense of its mission and goals.
The board members in any organization are accountable, Keith explained in his presentation. He
quoted Robert Greenleaf: Trustees [board members] are accountable to all parties of interest for the
best possible performance of the institution in the service of the needs

Modernism In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
The movement of Modernism forced its way through the world in the early 20th century, and it
faced mixed reviews from the citizens of both America and Europe. On one side, there were those
who praised it and its dedication to individualism and its battle against architectural conservatism.
This perspective is show in Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead through the eyes of the protagonist
Howard Roark. Roark is a cold and uncompromising Modernist architect who believes that the
ultimate crime of humanity is the generic, uninspired, and collectivist architecturethat runs rampant
through the city of New York. Housing projects were one of the top examples of what Roark saw
as wrong with society; what some citizens saw as generous and comforting, Roark saw as
conformist and comparable to the evil of the Nazis (Schleier,... Show more content on

Roark s extreme perspective defined what it meant to be an architect for two generations. Ayn
Rand called the summation of Howard Roark s ideas objectivism. This hyper Modernist viewpoint
makes itself apparent in the plethora of skyscrapers and also in the praise and worship of these
magnificent edifices. The skyscrapers reach towards the heavens, blotting out the sky and serving
as a monument to the triumph of the individual over mediocrity. They are a product of the human
mind and often took the place of sacred religious structures (Schleier, 322). No other inanimate
object held as much power as the modern skyscraper, and those who designed them were meant to
hold steadfast in both their ideas and their blueprints. On the other side of the Modernist battle,
there were those who struggled against the Modernist urban renewal. They valued the tradition and
culture that aged buildings nestled in their crumbling doorways and cracked windows. They wanted
to continue constructing edifices that would tell stories and invite others in. This outlook was
demonstrated in the film Mon Oncle, directed by

  • 2. Similarities Between Wordsworth And Muir Two talented literary authors William Wordsworth and John Muir express their emotions towards through their writing; their belletristic stories depict how their experiences with nature positively impacted their lives while giving them constant memories that will stay with them forever. Both Wordsworth and Muir used syntax and diction to verbalize their passionate relationship towards nature. In I Wandered Lonely as a CloudWilliam Wordsworthwrites of a lonely day while out for a walk; until he stumbles across a bed of beautiful golden daffodils dancing in the breeze. Wordsworth writes: A poet could not be but gay, in such a jocund company (stanza3). In this passage, Wordsworth uses words like jocund, and gay to express the joy he felt when he found the beautiful daffodils. Wordsworth also uses the syntax in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Muir fills with excitement from his discovery; he describes the joy he felt over calypso in the following quote: It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside it and fairly cried for joy . In this passage, Muir used words like spiritual to explain Calypso s beauty and used the phrase fairly cried for joy to express what great happiness they had flower brought to him. After reading and analyzing Wordsworth s poem and Muir s essay, I can see that both men use writing as a creative way to express their love for nature all around them. In Wordsworth s poem, he used syntax and diction to show how the flowers changed his once depressed lonely mood to positive and grateful. While in Muir s essay, he also uses diction to tell his story of finding calypso and his overwhelming sense of happiness when he finally sat by the beautiful flower. In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways, but it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same with each ... • 3. Conformity In The Giver The survival of civilization and society has primarily revolved around one key aspect, conformity. Conformity among a society s people ensures that certain rules are being followed, and are intended to establish order and equality among the general public. However, too much conformity is not beneficial to the individual nor does it help the group in the long run. In Lois Lowry s dystopian novel The Giver, people live in a seemingly utopian society where everyone has converted to sameness in order to preserve a true sense of equality and structure. The society, with the use of pills provided by their political powers, are incapable of seeing color, have no memories, and are contained within their own environment. • 4. Summary Of Time And The Conways And A Dream Play Time and the Conways (1937) and A Dream Play (1901) play with the idea of time as nonlinear. Influenced by John William Dunne, Priestley begins to investigate his own conception of time as the past, present, and future all happening at once. Strindberg, although he wrote A Dream Play ahead of Dunne and Priestley, also expounds on similar ideas linking timeand dreams. Dreams can free us from viewing time s structure as fixed and linear. Therefore, both playwrights begin to make theatre audiences aware of new ideas about how to perceive time and the use of dreams /precognitive states. Utilizing Dunne s basic theory of non linear time, I will talk about how we can apply this to readings of Time and the Conways and A Dream Play to explore themes of dreams and perception of time. Most notable to J.B. Priestley, who was heavily influenced by this work, was John William Dunnes An Experiment with Time . In Dunne s work, he talks about that all time is happening at once so that every moment is proceeding right now. However, humans experience time in linear fashion. To comprehend time, we must clearly separate past, present, and future. Dunne also explores the theory that only when we dream, time is no longer limited to linear concrete interpretation that we experience in our waking hours. The idea of nonlinear time in dreams relates to Strindberg s A Dream Play and some sections of Time and the Conways. However, Dunne was not taken seriously by his contemporaries due to his lack ... Clara s mother always taught her that people should be treated equally. When Clara was working at a school they wanted to pay her less than what men were paid. This may not be totally true but as recent case demonstrates regarding the rightful ownership of an application known as Snapchat, the words of Mr. Mayer reinforce a bit of vintage wisdom that contracting parties should always put their agreements in writing. Louie Mayer wasn t entirely correct as a verbal agreement in lieu of a written contract is still generally binding and, no matter how brief, is still a contract. In fact, most binding legal agreements can be oral agreements. In 2011, Three Stanford undergraduates started developing an online application which, in a chat setting, allows one computer user to send visual media like pictures to other computer users. After a short period of time the pictures become unavailable. Reggie Brown was basically the catalyst and the idea s originator, Robert Murphy handled the technical programming aspect, and Evan Spiegel pushed the project forward. It doesn t sound like much but today the value of this company is in the tens of billions of dollars. Upon discussing the idea, the three young men then decided to proceed and allegedly formalized their agreement with nothing more than a handshake. From this point on, as the project moved forward in development, they failed to set forth and sufficiently detail, in writing, any of their agreements and resolutions regarding any essential terms of ... • 8. My Best Vacation The best vacation ever! my cousin Vicky screamed from the bed next to me. I was just trying to fall sleep, but she kept talking most of the night with her twin sister Emma. We all have the same age, and this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what to do. We arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hoteland tried to rest. The next day we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was coming from Texas. Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the world with her father since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really knowledgeable about traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to Acapulco. We planned to go to La Quebrada , it s a place in Acapulco where people do cliff diving. We had done some research about it. The divers have to climb the cliff and do a freestyle jump into the water. We couldn t wait to be there, Annette was going to be really happy too, she used to compete in platform diving when she was in high school. The hotel room phone rang pretty early the next day. Our parents checking on us, making sure we were ok. Emma talked to her mother and assured her that everything was ok and that we will be careful driving around. It was funny, I looked at her facial expressions meanwhile she is talking, and Emma rolls the eyes and nods a lot. Emma is the opposite of his sister Vicky. Vicky talks a lot but she s a scary cat, on the other hand, Emma is quieter but really adventurous. Liz, my uncle wants you on the phone! Emma announced. I picked up the phone and got myself ready for the lecture. My father was concerned that we were going alone to Mexico. I promised that we were going to stay in Acapulco a couple of days and go back to California. Don t do stupid things my father continued, and, take care of each other. Annette arrived at midday, we were happy to see each other again. We decided to go the movies. • 10. Justification Of Revolt In America Justification of Revolt The American colonists came to North America to part from Britain and its monarchy. They called America the New World, a land for new beginnings. The King, or the Royal Brute of Great Britain, thought of the New World as a token in which he could benefit from. He used America for its cotton, gold, and to show that Britain was the most powerful country. King George III took advantage of the colonists and America s resources. The colonists wished to separate from Great Britain and had enough spirit to be able to win the war. The American colonists were justified in breaking away from Britain and initiating the Revolutionary War because parliament was passing absurd laws and acts, withdrawing colonial freedom, and disrupting the peace among colonial citizens ; however, one may consider that the colonists were the blame for the Revolutionary War happening at all. Parliament had passed many laws without consulting those in the colonies. In result, America was denied the right to colonial currency, Britain cut off trade with America, and the King placed a tax on all paper items. The Sugar, Townshend, and Stamp Acts were all unreasonable and caused disruption among the colonies. Even published in Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania a man said There is another late act of parliament, which appears to me to be unconstitutional. Other issues that cause the air pollution of a community to be an issue is the use of incinerators to generate electricity for the community. Although not located within the Merrimack County one incinerator located in New Hampshire does give people a look into how these kinds of structures cause issues with the air quality. Authors Xiahong Feng, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue describe issues that come from one incinerator located in Claremont, New Hampshire. The authors talk about how there are many metals that are released into the air causing poor air quality within the community surrounding it (Feng, Xiahong, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue 2000). Google had added two new positions from 2004 but even those additional positions aren t the major catalysts of Google s managerial success (Stross, 2008). Page, in his first major reorganization since taking the reins as CEO earlier this week, placed executives leading the groups directly under his supervision, eliminating management layers thought to slow product development, according to sources familiar with the situation (Oreskovic. A 2011). By bringing Gen Y ers into top management teams may provide the knowledge and energy to speed up the renewal of American business leadership and American business. For startups, we already bring in adult supervision to complement the skills and knowledge of entrepreneurial kid techies. For the thousands of big companies lumbering along the 21st century, it s time to bring the little fockers into shared power. At the moment, the world is just too complex for Boomer CEOs. We need B Y team leadership. We need to follow the standard that Google has put forth. Explain senior management s role in preparing the organization for its most recent change.

His energy and outspokenness as head of the Loan Operations department made him one of IVK s most dynamic executives, a key player and a likely CEO someday of a different company, if not this one. But the news Williams had conveyed moments before had left Barton silent, dumbfounded. A few minutes earlier Barton had rushed to William s ofп¬Ѓce, summoned for his turn with the new chief. All morning, leadership team members had marched down that hallway one at a time, each after receiving a phone call, each on a journey to discover his or her fate. The Hunger Artist by Franz Kafka, is an interesting short story that describes a man s dark and depressing life. In this man s life he is a hungerartist who starves himself to make small amounts of money and to gain attention from his audiences. The hunger artist was a man who was separated from society by his fasting and suffered from the harmful effects of his pride and confusion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three main symbols in The Hunger Artist are the cage, clock, and the panther. The cage represents how the hunger artist is separated from the rest of society. The man separated himself from society from a physical sense by locking himself in a cage and not coming out. However, he also separated himself from a mental standpoint by making his life revolve around his audiences and putting their wants and needs above his own. This symbolism represents the cage and how separation from society led to the hunger artist s downfall. The next symbol described in the story is the clock. The clock was the only piece of furniture in the man s cage besides the hay. The all important striking of the clock that was the only piece of furniture in his cage (333). The clock represents that as time goes on the hunger artist s relationship with his audience continues to fail which starts the domino effect that carries over to the man s mental health. Ultimately the clock shows that the hunger artist s life is slowly ticking away and that he is slowly killing his body and his mind. The last major symbolism used in the story is the panther. The panther replaces the hunger artist in his cage after he passes away. The panther is the complete opposite of the hunger artist. Comparing The Infamy And Controversy Of The Sex Pistols The Infamy and Controversy of The Sex Pistols Although the infamous band, The Sex Pistols, only lasted 26 months and one album, they had no shortage of controversy. The Sex Pistols were, and still are today, the definition of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It did not take long for The Sex Pistols to stir controversy in the media. From the beginning of their existence, the media portrayed them as no good punk anarchists. As documented in the film, The Filth and The Fury by Julien Temple, it is clear why 1970 s conservative Britain would have an issue with the band. For the first time, a group ignored the typical professionalism that was expected from the music industry (Simonelli 122) and spoke for the working class. As mentioned in the... For example, although the band has never made racist comments or lyrics, bassist Sid Vicious was often spotted wearing swastikas. (Gildart 134 135). Their fashion choices gave everyone another reason to talk about them. The media was putting money in their pockets and helping them get their message across. The band members also got a kick out of the anti punk headlines, no doubt. In some ways, the media was correct. The band encouraged violence at their shows, Sid Vicious was even known to cut himself on stage (Simonelli 134). However, the extent that people would go to prevent The Sex Pistols from corrupting the youth of Britain was a bit ridiculous. Parents protested outside venues, saying they would do whatever it takes to keep The Sex Pistols from playing, including using violence if necessary (Gildart 136 137). Due to the protests and uproar that was caused, the band only ended up playing 5 out of the scheduled 27 shows on their Anarchy tour. (Gildart 130). There are a lot of possibilities and feasible solutions for lowering the carbon emissions from vehicles. CONTENTS 1.INTRODUCTION 2.THE METHODOLOGIES FOR LOW CARBON ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trap oxidizer development in Greece is one of many scientific research done to reduce vehicle emissions. The carbon dioxide capture using nanostructured membranes is also another way to check the vehicle emissions. In this method single gas separation experiments were carried out using silica modified membranes to study the behavior of individual gas permeation at different pressures and temperatures. 1. Working of nanostructures membranes in capturing CO2 emission. Design and fabrication of porous membranes comprises of many layers of different materials namely: Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3), Titanium Oxide (TiO2), Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), Silicon Dioxide (SiO2), Silicon Carbide, Zeolite, or a mixture of two materials applied on an underlying porous stainless steel. The manner in which gas molecules flow is generally influenced by three factors: The gas properties, morphology of the membrane and the material used for membrane design. The technology is environment friendly, quite economical and efficient. It is applicable to all forms of CO2 removal from other gases. Nanotechnology is being greatly used in this method of carbon capture. The question that needs to be asked is: Why is our strategy working in Africa and Asia but not in Europe and North America? In 2009 Diageo announced that it was to reduce its work force in the Glasgow and Kilmarnock plants in Scotland by 900 workers. The company faced wide spread criticism from both the Scottish government and trade unions for their refusal to negotiate or adopt a compromise suggested by the Scottish government, which could have saved at least some of these workers jobs. Considering the brand had been linked to Kilmarnock for almost two centuries and most workers had been working in the plants for generations, the way in which they were treated by the company, was abominable. The close relationship between ASL and FSL is because of the first school for the deaf opened in the United States. The school was founded by a Frenchman whose native language was French Sign Language. (Tabak) Now many schools for the deaf have been opened throughout the United States, yet the connections between ASL and FSL remain strong. Undoubtedly, ASL is a singular language and like any two separate languages, a language barrier can result between hearing English speaking parents and their deaf children. John Tabak, the author of Significant Gestures a book on the education system for deaf children, discussed the language barrier generally between hearing parents and deaf or hard of hearing children. The deaf students would head to school every morning and spend most of their day conversing in sign, a language that is all their own, but when the students were sent home the would be subjected to broken communication through signs, oral speech, lip reading, and writing. Often the written communication of deaf children is different from hearing students. As ASL is a separate language from English, it follows an entirely secular grammatical system. Tabak eloquently summed up the difficulties facing the deaf education system, and the relatively innovative approaches being implemented to adjust them. He mentions that there was a time when deaf students at Austine School in Vermont were forced to communicate orally with all peers and teachers. Now students at Austines can use ASL, which is a language belonging entirely to the Deaf community here in the United States. For the next thirty years or so it never numbered more than a few thousand men. But very importantly, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point was started in 1802. A small corp. of officers was able to accumulate. Because of the lack of trust in the military, funds and actions were limited. The Army was just big enough to provide engineers for seacoast forts and to fight Indians. The public s opinion all of a sudden reversed itself. • 37. African American Racial Relations Academic researchers as well as media commentators frequently argue that race relations in the United States have worsened considerably over the past decade. Many Americans would disagree or have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is continuously modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The term racerelations is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial formation. Instead it has a palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and their members act toward one another (Howard 2009:1852). In a recent interview, when asked where we stand on the topic of race relations President Barack Obama stated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alone among the countries in the world, it has attempted to construct not just a state of different tribes, but a nation of them white and black, Christian and Muslim, and many others, too. Its sense of nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the people within its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50% of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years later was re elected, in 2012. This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United States. For instance, a 2013 Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of black white marriage, but now 87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013). Sociologists traditionally view multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of assimilation of a particular group into society, which exemplifies racial progress in America () Affirmative action in the U.S is a set of laws or guidelines that are set in place to level the playing field and give everyone an equal opportunity to pursue employment or an education. This law was deemed necessary when it was made legal; however now there are those who disagree with the policies of affirmative action. Hate groups frequently refer to affirmative action as racial preferences, racial quotas, or anti White prejudice and describe the policy as creating unfair advantages to minorities and/or creating disadvantages to Whites (Valeri, Robin, and Kevin Borgeson ... Late Pleistocene canines that fall morphologically somewhere between this wolf and the modern dog have been directly associated with early European human settlements as long ago as 40,000 BP (GermonprГ© et al. 2009). By approximately 10,000 BP a new manner of existence had arisen within human societies, the deliberate cultivation and manipulation of plants and animals for agriculture. The domestication of the dog, from a now extinct Pleistocene wolf ghost population (Thalmann et al. 2013), is thought to have occurred at least by 15,000 (Shannon et al. 2015), making it the first animal to be domesticated by humans and the only animal to be domesticated before the advent of agricultural societies. Additionally, while the first remains that researchers have been able to be confidently designated as dogs appear in the archaeological record at approximately 15,000 BP, recent analyses of Paleolithic Canis cranial remains from the Czech Republic have been undertaken by Mietje GermonprГ©, Martina LГЎzniДЌkovГЎ GaletovГЎ, and Mikhail V. Their comparative study of the snout lengths, braincase capacities and carnassials of both these remains and modern wolves and dogs suggest the presence of Paleolithic proto dogs (MacHugh, Larson, and Orlando 2017). The son who wandered forth in the world was either killed by the cannibals or crawled home years afterwards doubled up with rheumatism. So the old men made the proverb. While his elder brother still has only the old farm with three cows and a couple of pigs, he has a whole department of agriculture with great sheds full of Tamworth hogs and a professor to every six of them. In short, in modern life it is the rolling stone that gathers the moss. And the geologists outside of Tennessee say that the moss on the actual stone was first started in exactly the same way. It was the rolling of the stone that smashed up the earth and made the moss grow. Take another proverb: All is not Gold that Glitters How perfectly ridiculous! According to Freud, repression is what keeps us from realizing that men love their mothers and want to kill their fathers. Reluctance is the proof that one had these desires because it is evidence of embarrassment. Finally, the unconscious is where these desires reside until acted on, or until one overcomes the desire and represses them further. The Oedipal complex can be applied to many myths, but those that best represent the theory are in the Theogony. A good beginning is to examine the birth of the twelve titans from Gaia, also known as Mother Earth, who conceives them with Ouranos, Father Sky. Two of the titans, Kronos and Rhea, behave in an Oedipal fashion. Kronos castrates his father Ouranos which would not have been fulfilled without Gaia s help. This castration fulfills the patricidal aspect in Freud s theory. Because Kronos was able to overcome his desire for his mother, he was rewarded with the next best thing to Gaia, Rhea, his sister. Kronos and Rhea then gave birth to the Olympians who all, but Zeus, get swallowed by Kronos. Zeus, also acting in an Oedipal fashion overthrows his father Kronos, with help from his mother, Rhea.
