Abstract
The inability to read is a problem that plagues public schools. Many students enter the
third grade reading on a lexile level lower than what is required to be successful.
Some students will be one or two grade levels below the current grade. The students
simply cannot keep up with the demands of the current grade because of the lack of
ability to read. There is a great need to reach students who struggle with reading. The
purpose of this study is to determine if phonics will help third grade students to
improve their reading ability. The study will include seven students in a third grade
intervention room. The students will be taught phonics for a six week period. At
the beginning of the study the students will be given the San Diego Quick
Assessment of Reading Ability as a pretest to determine the reading level. At the end
of the six week period the students will be given the same test as a posttest to
determine progress. Progress will be shown if the students have moved up in reading
levels.
Introduction
Year after year, teachers observe students who enter into their classroom without the
ability to read. The inability to read effects every area of a student s education. The

The clinics have shaped me into the person I am today. I experienced the impact of

Reflection Of The Piano
For this concert report, I am going to be focusing on the last piece of the concert,
Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67. This piece was written in the
classical period. I am choosing this piece to focus on because when I heard it, I felt
that I was being told a story of a war and specifically of a single soldier and his
experience. Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67 has 4 movements
throughout the piece. The first movement is Allegro con brio, the second Andante
con moto, and the third and fourth are both Allegro. The first movement, Allegro con
Brio, starts the story off in a battle focusing on a single soldier and his fight. The
tempowas quite fast throughout the movement making the idea of a battle taking
place set in. The program has already stated that the piece was in C Minor, but you
can tell that it is by the sense of conflict and pain that is heard throughout the piece.
This first movement has a great variation of dynamics as well. There are long
sections of fortissimo that, to me, sound like the intense fighting, and then there are
sections of piano and mezzo piano that, to me, sound like lulls in the scene where the
soldier notices something very sad right before he is whisked back into the fight. This
sense of a fight scene is also noted with the technical styling of the movement. During
the intense fights the melody is staccato and accented, and during the points that the
soldier can take a breath and look around at the horror unfolding

because my limbs might be temporarily paralyzed or my heart is tachycardic and
there s nothing I can do about it. But once I get myself together after I wake up, I
say a prayer, think positive thoughts and go on about my day!
Because my days are so unpredictable, I literally have to take one day at a time.
Planning upcoming days can seem like an impossible feat because I never know
how my body will respond. Most bloggers are great at planning their blog schedules
ahead of time and sticking to it. To be honest, I started to develop blogger envy
because I would read posts about how well other bloggers could stick to their
schedule and because of their consistency, their following grew exponentially. I
was struggling with growing my following on social networks because I couldn t
be as consistent as them. That destroyed my inner peace and I never should of let
that happen because most of those bloggers don t face the same challenges as me
and I shouldn t have been comparing my grass to anyone else s, to begin with!
