Virginia Tech College Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Virginia Tech College" can prove to be a challenging task
for several reasons. Firstly, the topic itself requires a thorough understanding of the unique
characteristics, values, and offerings of Virginia Tech. This necessitates in-depth research into the
university's history, academic programs, campus culture, and any recent developments.
Moreover, one must delve into personal experiences or aspirations that align with what Virginia
Tech represents, adding a layer of introspection to the writing process.
Secondly, the challenge lies in striking the right balance between showcasing individuality and
aligning with the institution's values. The essay should provide insights into the applicant's
personality, experiences, and goals while also demonstrating a genuine connection to Virginia
Tech. This requires a delicate interplay between personal narratives and a clear articulation of
how the university will contribute to the applicant's academic and personal growth.
Additionally, maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative throughout the essay is crucial.
Transitioning smoothly between different aspects, such as personal anecdotes and academic
aspirations, requires careful planning and effective storytelling skills. Ensuring that each
paragraph contributes to the overall theme and leaves a lasting impression on the reader adds
another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, adhering to word limits can be a challenge. With the need to cover diverse aspects
within a confined space, applicants must be concise yet comprehensive, making every word
count.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the topic of "Virginia Tech College" demands a
combination of thorough research, self-reflection, storytelling prowess, and the ability to strike a
delicate balance between individuality and alignment with the institution. It is a task that requires
time, effort, and a keen understanding of both personal and institutional narratives.

Essay on Biographical References in and Hemingway s
Male...
Throughout the Nick Adams and other stories featuring dominant male figures,
Ernest Hemingway teases the reader by drawing biographical parallels to his own
life. That is, he uses characters such as Nick Adams throughout many of his
literary works in order to play off of his own strengths as well as weaknesses: Nick,
like Hemingway, is perceptive and bright but also insecure. Nick Adams as well as
other significant male characters, such as Frederick Henry in A Farewell to Arms and
Jake Barnes in The Sun Also Rises personifies Hemingway in a sequential manner.
Initially, the Hemingway character appears to be impressionable, but he evolves into
an isolated individual. Hemingway, due to an unusual childhood and possible post

Hemingway had to have his tonsils removed by a doctor after an earlier childhood
accident (49). The operation is inferred to be successful but Hemingway liked to hold
grudges, whether real or imaginary. In Indian Camp, after the caesarian procedure is
completed, Nick Adams father says, I haven t any anesthetic, but her screams are not
important (16). Not only was this a demeaning and boorish way of referring to the
indigenous female but the comment demonstrates his total indifference for the
invasiveness of the procedure. Hemingway stated that he had always held it against
his father for taking out his tonsils without any anesthetic (48).
To conclude the story the new born situation lead to a discussion between Nick and
his father, the doctor. They talk about death, probably in the same unique manner that
Ernest Hemingway and his father did. The similarities to Nick Adams personal life
are unmistakably reflected in Hemingway s. Hemingway s father, Ed Hemingway,
was in fact a doctor and would also take his son to Indian villages in Michigan. The
Indians there were the Ojibwa Indians who lived near Walloon Lake in northern
Michigan (23). In fact, Arthur Waldhorn states in Reader s Guide to Ernest

Essay about High School Cliques
High School Cliques High school cliques are typical during teenage years, giving
members a feeling of acceptance and belonging. But I believe that cliques
conversely damage a teen s self esteem. The high school should get involved in
helping all students feel more socially included . How can a student feel like they
socially fit in? It is the responsibility of the high schoolto create an atmosphere for
the student body which promotes acceptance and inclusion of other kids, allowing
kids to feel like they belong. Cliques tend to be exclusive, only accepting those who
are similar to them such as their interest in sports, after school activities, hobbies, or
even by appearance and other superficial things. They also tend to leave... Show more

Another problem with high school cliques is that kids in them feel superior to
some of the student who have trouble socially or are reluctant to be in a social
situation. For example, a student transfers to new school and doesn t know anyone.
The cliques seem to feel superior because they already have an established group of
friends, while the newcomer is still struggling. This would be a great opportunity for
the high school counselor or the teachers to help students feel included in the high
school social scene by introducing them to kind and friendly students. Cliques
tend to have the same ideas or follow the same opinions on different topics. They
usually think alike. When someone new enters the picture, they may have new
ideas and opinions that may clash with the existing group. Their solution is to
exclude that particular person, in order to keep their social circle normal in their
minds, so they don t have to change their thinking. If students only spend time with
others who are like them racially, socially, or otherwise they may never learn how
to live and work with people who are different. (Kay Herting Wahl, a University of
Minnesota assistant professor of educational psychology) Cliques are so exclusive
in this generation and kids are only associating with other very similar to themselves.
This does not allow them to explore different people from different experiences or life
John Steinbeck s “The Chrysanthemums” Essay
John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums
John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums shows the true feelings of the main
character, Elisa Allen, through the use of setting and her interactions with other
characters in the story. By way of vivid descriptions, Elisa s feelings of
dissatisfaction over the lack of excitement in her life are portrayed. Her role as a
mere housewife and then the subsequent change to feelings of a self assured woman
are clearly seen. These inner feelings are most apparent with the portrayal of Elisa
working in the garden with the chrysanthemums, the conversation she has with the
man passing through, and finally, when she and her husband are going out to dinner.

how she comes to the realization that there is a more exciting life outside the farm.
In the Fixer Guy , Elisa finds somebody who sees her as more than a housewife,
someone who can appreciate her from an unbiased viewpoint. He offers his

to do. At first she resists conversation with him. Then when he asks about her
plants Steinbeck writes The irritation and resistance melted from Elisa s face. I

very eager to talk about her chrysanthemums. Elisa s face becomes tight with
eagerness as she talks about them, as if they were her children. The vibes from her
infatuation with these flowers are picked up by the old man, and there is an
unspoken connection between these two perfect strangers as they have both chosen
their own preoccupation in life, his being a passion of pots and hers a love of
chrysanthemums. It is this connection that ignites the realization that she longs to
break free from the everyday routine she calls life. This feeling is so strong that her

Charlemagne Congenhard Analysis
Another aspect of Einhard s writing that must be questioned is his mention of
friendships with other kings as this is another area which seems to have a strong
subtext. Einhard mentions that Charlemagne made some alliances through
friendship however these friendships often have a deeper reason for their existence
than purely his friendly nature: fear. When Alfonso [II], the king of Galicia and
Asturias... ordered that in Charle s presence he was only to be referred to as his
subject he may have been acting out of humility. However as this is not the first time
The Life of Charlemagnementions people acting humble in the presence of the

Both of these kings went to great lengths to appease King Charlemagne, giving up
their land, property, and even titles. While these may all be just sumptuous gifts
from royals as a sign of friendship, it could be indicative of something much more
threatening. Comparatively the emperors of Constantinople, Nicephorus [I], Michael
[I], and Leo [V] thought that Charlemagne might want to seize their empire for
gaining the title of emperor but were brought to peace by the creation of a treaty.
Later the words about these emperors voluntarily seeking friendship may allude to
the fact that others sought Charlemagne s friendship out of necessity rather than of
their own free will. Lupus, the duke of Gascons, gave similar obedience and gifts to
the king only this was not out of friendship but out of fear. Charlemagne threatened to
wage war on Lupus if he did not return a fugitive to the king, but with the prisoner he
also entrusted himself and the territory he governed to [Charle s] power. This
undeniable similarity could be the key to understanding the roots of friendships
between Charlemagne and
Essay On Environmental Pollution
Pollutants are impacting aquatic organisms distributed by daily human activities and
natural occurrences. An extensive amount of pollutants such as pesticides, heavy
metals, and hydrocarbons can result in direct significant damage, e.g. death. However
lower levels of these harmful substances can be stored in an organism and increase as
it continues and follows up the food chain, a process called biomagnification or
bioaccumulation, having the greatest effect on the top predator of that food chain. A
common result of the pollutants can lead to stress, changing of the immune system,
inhibit lysozyme activity, damage gills, metabolism, and growth. Other factors
include an excessive amount of nutrients in the environment. Nitrogen can make its
way into aquatic ecosystems when there is an increase in nitrous oxide in the air,
allowing eutrophication. Algae and bacteriafeed off the nitrogen, so a high number of
these organisms appear and use oxygen around them as the feed, causing hypoxic
zones, or dead zones. Acidification, an increase in the ecosystem s pH acidity from
acid rain, which occurs from an increase in CO2 from air pollution. Aquatic
organisms have a range of tolerance, and water with high acidic pH will lead the
organism out of the range of tolerance, resulting in stress of the organism, and
eventually death. Further studies are being pursuited to see larger impacts of
globalized pollution on aquatic species and their ecosystems.

How Does Pip Change Throughout The Novel
The book Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is about Pip s life, but involves
many stories and relations. This novel of 544 pages was published on 1861 by
Chapman Hall. It describes the protagonist life since he was a kid and a radical
change he had, to the life before another unexpected change. In this report I m going
to briefly summarize a part of this extent book.
After Pip received a secret benefactor (which he thought was Miss Havisham), his
life changed drastically. Now he had an opulent life, and was afraid to be
disapproved by his old friends. Joe went to visit Pip, but Pip was acting annoyed
until he told him Estella was back and wanted to see him. When he saw Estella, even
if he wasn t just a blacksmith anymore, he felt unworthy ... Show more content on

Years later Pip returned to England, where Estella was now a widow. Great
Expectations finish as Pip and Estella wander holding hands through the garden in the
moonlight.
I think the purpose of Charles Dickens was to create an involving story to entertain
his public, which in my opinion was achieved, and make it a relatable story. I don t
consider Great Expectations difficult, but you have to pay attention because it has
many stories. Maybe some of the weaknesses of the book are that it is very old so
it s not that relatable to today s lifestyle, but if we consider the time when it was
wrote, it is very complex, well written and interesting. I would definitely recommend
it to others, but only to the people I know would like to read it.
In conclusion is a very good book, obviously by a very recognized and well known
writer. The spite of Estella marked me the most, because she gained a lot of hate to
every man she knew just because of what Compeyson did to her. The impression
the book left me was that maybe Charles Dickens had many feelings like rancor
inside him, but also wanted to eliminate and forgive others. He had a great sense but
realistic sense of love because he knew that even when two people love each other,
sometimes it isn t possible for different

Advantage Kayaks considers itself a boutique kayak manufacturing business
employing one full time boat builder. It has been in operation for ten years
undertaking mainly individual orders for the elite and recreational, surf and flat
water racing classes. The business appears to be experiencing a scalloped product

The Mobile Phone Industry, Like The Internet
Sprint Nextel Merger Introduction: The mobile phone industry, like the Internet, is
one of the fastest and ever developing industries. Since 1994, the production of cell
phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million in wireless phone. The market
of cell phones in the United States is constantly increasing and the 162 million users
will increase in the next few years. . This tremendous increase is due to the current
and ongoing development of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone.
Throughout the history of the mobile phone industries collaborate with each other in
order to stay successful in this fast changing field. Worldwide wireless companies
have been cooperating with each other. This collaboration is due to a lot of reasons
that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay profitable. Wireless companies have the
opportunity to get market shares for both products and accessories. When these
companies merge they can then share their markets and products and offer a good
service to its customers. Without working together smaller wireless companies at
times fall victim to the strong competitions and they will eventually become bankrupt
and forced to shut down. Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone
industry to maintain profits and increase customer base. One of the ways that cell
phone companies maintain profits and increase customer base is through merger or
acquisition with other companies to share new technologies for

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to
corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any
system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is
tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or
whether it demonstrates a vulnerability unique to the U.S. system of corporate
governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the
Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to
produce superior performance results. As discussed later in this Article, Enron s
financial maneuvering, which led to the company s massive 2001 restatement of
earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure
from investors. Essentially, Enron s corporate performance was consistent for a
considerable period of time prior to 1997. 4 However, between 1996 and 1997, the
firm s profits and return on equity each declined by ninety percent. 5 The sudden
deterioration in performance pressured management to engage in transactions that
increased revenue and moved debt off of the firm s

recounts her childhood and claims that she and her siblings were physically and

The first step in this investigation was to determine the heat energy change associated
with the dissolution of each salt. Three 250ml beakers were obtained, two of the
beakers were filled with about 50ml of distilled water and one was placed on the
hot plate until it boils. The third beaker was filled with half ice and half water. A
thermometer was placed in the second beaker to record the room temperature
water. The next step is to calibrate by submerging temperature probe into the ice
water beaker and stir it for a little bit, then allow it to stabilize. Once it was
stabilized, the temperature was entered to calibrate. The same process was repeated
for the other two beakers, the room temperature and boiling water. Once calibration
was complete, the next step in the investigation was to determine the enthalpy of
heat solution for the two salts. Each salt was measured 1 gram and set aside. To
find the enthalpy a calorimeter was used, then filled 50ml of room temperature
water in a graduated cylinder. The water was poured into the calorimeter cup then
close the top and measured the initial temperature. Then the top was opened and
1gram of Ammonium chloride was pour into the cup, stirred the salt with the rod and
once it reached plateaued the final temperature was recorded. The same process was
done for the second salt Sodium thiosulfate. The step taken to reduce error in the
experiment was to measure the content as accurately as possible and redo the
calculation multiple times to make sure it is
Role Of A System Analyst Has A Holistic View Of An...
Factors such as; a more informed user community, need for new systems with
enhanced functionality and a shift towards cooperative systems developments have
shaped the role of a system analyst in recent days (Graf Misic, 1993).
In organizations that range for small scale businesses to multinational corporations
there is a constant change in the external environment in which they operate that
poses both threats and opportunities. This mandates companies to have an eye for
opportunities and re engineer their current business processes to accommodate
changes to achieve a competitive advantage. According to me, Information System

But in most cases, companies want custom made software that best satisfies their
requirements. As discussed by (Zhang, 2014) in class, there is no single off the shelf
software application that can cater to the functional requirements of organizations.
Hence, as mentioned by (Hoffer, George Valacich, 2008), I believe that system
analysts adopt system analysis and design process to develop application software
that is tailor made to accommodate the expectations or requirements of the client.
ROLE OF A SYSTEM ANALYST IN SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE
There are specific methodologies that organizations follow to develop and maintain
their information systems. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a
conventional methodology that organizations adopt for system analysis and design.
This life cycle contains five phases such as planning, analysis, design, implementation
and maintenance (Hoffer, George Valacich, 2008). At every stage of the SDLC,
system analysts cooperate with other business professionals, programmers,
professionals and testers to determine the progress of the system analysis and design.
During the planning phase, the information needs of the organization are analyzed
and translated into the project plan. An important outcome of the planning phase is
the formulation of the project boundary or scope by the system analyst. Hence, this
phase necessitates the collaboration between the project manager and system analysts

Cultural Weddings
A wedding is the marriage rite in which two people are united in marriage or a
similar institution. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures,
ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies
involve an exchange of wedding vows by the couple, presentation of a gift, and a
public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or leader. Special wedding
garments are often worn, and the ceremony is followed by a wedding reception.
Music, poetry, prayers or readings from Scripture or literature also may be
incorporated into the ceremony (Wedding, 2012).
Weddings, like any other major life event, can bring out the best and worst in all of
us: generosity, creativity, humor, as well as jealousy,... Show more content on

Shagan is the practice of welcoming the bride into the groom s family. Blessing the
bride with gifts is a way of showing acceptance of her into the family. The groom s
family brings gifts in the form of clothes, jewelry, and bangles for the bride. The
bride s family in return presents the groom with gifts of clothes and jewelry. The
bride s family distributes gifts as a gesture of thanks. They show their appreciation,
to the groom and his family for taking in their daughter. Then they begin
celebration of the couple with music. Family and friends sing to the beat of the
small drum. The Shagan ceremony is usually hosted in two separate ceremonies
one, by the bride s family and the other by the groom s. Once the Shagan ceremony
is wrapped up, the families begin to prepare for the wedding ceremony. The
wedding is given at a traditional Christian Church in India (Indian Wedding Rituals,
2012). A lot of things are similar like getting married in a church is traditional in
America too, but not always the norm. Americans get married everywhere. Whether
it s outside in a vineyard or it s on the pitcher s mound of a baseball stadium. I think
Americans do what they feel would make their wedding the most amazing and not
go by all the traditions of religion or culture to make them happy. The wedding is
performed during the week, late afternoon. Most wedding ceremonies in India are
performed during the week.
Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell Essay
Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell
Andrew Marvell s elaborate sixteenth century carpe diem poem, To His Coy
Mistress , not only speaks to his coy mistress, but also to the reader. Marvell s
suggests to his coy mistress that time is inevitably rapidly progressing and for this
he wishes for her to reciprocate his desires and to initiate a sexual relationship.
Marvell simultaneously suggests to the reader that he or she should act upon their
desires as well, to hesitate no longer and seize the moment before time, and
ultimately life, expires. Marvell makes use of allusion, metaphor, and grand imagery
in order to convey a mood of majestic endurance and innovatively explicate the carpe
diem motif.

His love is so great it would, ?grow vaster than empires? (11 12). Although Marvell
tries to equate his love for his mistress to plants, his argument is undermined by a
plant?s biological incapableness of contemplation and reciprocal physical affection.
Nevertheless, the speaker continues his praises of love, but points out that there is not
enough time for further praise because time is passing quickly.
The poem then acquires a more serious tone when the poem loses its exaggerations
and embellishments. He reassures his coy mistress that ?you deserve this state? of
praise and high acknowledgment,
But at my back I always hear
Time?s wingГЁd chariot hurrying near. (21 22)
Rather than explicitly saying death is near, Marvell substitutes life?s bleakness
with a ?winged chariot.? He slowly becomes more frustrated with her ?long
preserved virginity? and tires to inform his mistress that death is near and they still
have not had intercourse. His frustration can be seen in his sexual pun on the word
?quaint? which symbolically refers to female genitalia. The intense imagery of
genitalia is again echoed when Marvell describes to his coy mistress that even after
death the ?worms shall try that long preserved virginity? (27 28). Here the worms
take on a phallic symbol, reinforcing his sexual desires. The speaker abstractly states
that holding onto her virginity will do her no good because she will be
Statute Of Limitations In Criminal Law
Across the United States, many criminal courts have created a rule known as statute
of limitations. Statute of limitations sets forth a time limit to raising a legal issue in
order to not only maintain the integrity of evidence gathered for the trial, but to also
protect people from being harassed about a crimethat was never tried a long time
ago. In order to begin a criminal case within statute of limitations, a prosecutor must
bring forth formal charges against a defendant within a specific amount of time after
a crime is first discovered by law enforcement. The amount of time that a prosecutor
can file criminal charges against a defendant depends on the crime s classification
under the federal or state criminal code. Because of the different classifications of
crimes in criminal codes, there are several forms of time limitations that prosecutors
should know before deciding to file criminal charges against a defendant.
The first type of offense is known as an infraction. In the criminal code, infractions
are crimes that carry a punishment of paying a fine ( Felonies, Misdemeanors and
Infractions: The Differences , n.d.). Once law enforcement discovers this type of
offense, the prosecutor is given exactly six months to file charges against the
defendant ( Time Limits for Charges: State Criminal Statutes of Limitations , n.d.).
Some examples of infractions can include citations for parking violations, running a
red light, and speeding.
The next type of offense is known as

Drinking At 18 Essay
Drinking at 18
If you look around at college parties it seems as if everyone is drinking. Actually
you are probably right, but over half of those people drinking are also under the
legal drinking age. Drinking is one of the main forms of entertainment for the
typical college student. The only problem with drinking being the main form of
entertainment is that half of the students in college or 20 years or younger. This
seems to be a problem all over the country and a debate has started to see whether or
not lowering the drinking age would be a reasonable solution to keep students from

There are many other reasons as to why lowering the legal drinking age is being
considered other then that students between the age of 18 and 20 on college
campuses want the privilege to drink. More serious cases such as that of Mr.

arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.14. Mr. Cureton was almost

they may try to drive themselves, resulting in more damage then they may realize at

Internet Addiction Essay
Internet Addiction: Cybersex and Porn Vs. a Dependency on Video Games
Abstract
Within our modern world, the notion that human beings are distancing themselves
farther and farther from inter personal communication cannot be closer to the truth. In
today s world, people utilize technology to make things easier, and to better
understand the world surrounding the individuals. What ever happened to the
relationship between a single person and their peers when knowledge came to be a
defining factor? In this research paper, it will be discussing what an addiction to this
technology does to a person. It will be investigating the differences and comparisons
between two forms of an internet addiction: Cybersex and porn, and a dependency
on video games. It will also be considering what these two addictions do and how
they affect the lives of both single people, and parents who have adopted
responsibilities within their households by declaring themselves part of a family unit.
Summary
Internet addiction is a new age phenomenon that not all people are active in the
modern world fully understand. According to (Kuss Griffiths 2015) internet
addiction has been conceptualized as behavioural addiction involving the excessive
use of the online applications and leading to detrimental impacts on the affected
individuals lives (2). To many people think or even say, it is simply playing on the
computer too much , however, those same people do not even realize that they are

The Heroic Code
The life of a warrior is not always filled with glamour and glory. Warriors cannot
simply waltz through a tough battle, shedding blood left and right and taking all
the glory and credit for themselves. There are often tough decisions to be made.
Warriors also cannot just think of themselves, for their decisions often affect the
lives of others as well. They need the heroic code to guide them in their decision
making. In this essay, I will describe the heroic code and share its applications in
the stories of Beowulf, Gilgamesh and Noah, and The Illiad, as well as my other
personal experiences. I will start with the story of The Man of La Mancha, which ...

Beowulf s loyalty is most prominent at the end when he fights the dragon. He did
not want to fight the dragon because of his age, but felt that he owed it to the king
to do it. Beowulf was so highly revered that everyone was deeply saddened by his
death. He truly lived his life exactly to the Germanic heroic code. Nearly all of
Beowulf s actions in this poem follow the heroic code. He saved lives, fought every
battle bravely, was loyal even in situations of life and death, courageous, and
rewarded and revered even the warriors underneath him. The fact that he died in
battle just means that he did not only live as a hero but die as one too. The last
example of the heroic code in epic stories is from The Epic of Gilgamesh. Similarly
to Beowulf, Achilles, and Hector, Gilgamesh was very strong and very brave, like a
typical hero. He is on a quest to be the ultimate hero and achieve everlasting life.
Gilgamesh has fought and won battles against several infamous monsters:
Humbaba, the Bull of Heaven, and a pack of vicious lions. However, even though
Gilgamesh was very brave and strong, he was not a good king to his people. He put
his own interests before theirs and ruled with a cruel iron fist, as well as being
obsessed with his own legacy.
In conclusion, the heroic code was a set of beliefs and values that guided warriors to
make the tough decisions that they would undoubtedly be
How Has Medieval Music Changed Over Time
Music has changed drastically over the years, effected by culture, religion and
many other factors. The Medieval era starts the general progression of music
change that is generally recorded as records predating the Medieval era are
infrequent at best and mostly consist of knowledge of instrument or psalms handed
down through generations (such as with the Jewish religion). Thus the Medieval
period is were records of actual songs are found. Records from this era and beyond
begin to display the evolution of the art. The foundation of musicdevelopment from

It was around this time that the first large collection of such secular songs was
written that are still decipherable in any notation and where developed by French
noblemen called troubadours and trouveres, although they may have been active

Henri de Malines. The 12th and 13th centuries were a changing time for the world.
Knights where gaining fame as musical poets, and even women were acting as

This lead to drastic changes in music in the 14th century creating an Ars Nova with

China s Political And Social Structures
China is the fastest emerging political power in the world, a power that in a short
amount of time turned from a third rate industrial nation with lots of raw potential, to
the second largest economy and one of the largest militaries in the world. But is
China s political and social structures unique? Certainly, the Chinese system
possesses certain aspects similar to what already exists in other modern nation states
and their governments, however, it is how these pieces coelute together into a
coherent political and economic machine that makes the model unique. Politically,
the Chinese Communist Party is quite unique. Most authoritarian political parties
are either dominated by party elites who only pass on power to loyalists, or merely
a military regime. The CCP, however, is significantly technocratic, and much more
inclusive. Many members of the CCP are not just military leaders or individuals
with law degrees, they also include engineers and more recently business leaders.
Furthermore, although there is a level of patronage in Chinese politics and society
known as Guanxi, in fact as Mingxing Liu states in his paper about advancement in
the CCP Central Committee the literature suggests that leaders were able to stay in
power because they engaged in factional politics instead of selecting the most capable
officials (Victor Shih 2012) However, that was during the pre Xi Jinping eras and

As I walked into The Center for Arts Theatre there was still plenty of seating but
there was a lot of excitement and noise coming from the audience members who had
already found their seats to watch The Nutcracker that was directed by Ashley Miller
Davis based on E.T.A. Hoffman s, The Nutcrackerand the Mouse King (1816). The
production was choreographed very well by DeAnn Petruschke and Ashley Miller
Davis. The costume crew Lisa Ivy and Brenda Linton also did a great job with each
of the actor and actresses costumes. I have never seen the original Nutcracker
before so I did not really have anything to compare this production to. This story is
based on Clara played by Tess Barborek and her toy soldier, the prince, played by

When the curtain opens the scene is set with a very large Christmas tree and Dr.

So what does a food service manager do? In short, they manage the entire restaurant.
Typical obligations include employee management, food/supply procurement,
equipment inspection, financial record keeping, and complaint address. Other
duties including overseeing food preparation, scheduling, and establishing

growth elevates the demand for various places to dine out. Advancement in the
field is also possible, as an individual gains more experience, they have a greater
likelihood of being employed at an upscale restaurant. However, in an effort to save
costs, many of these establishments will hire less employees as time goes on, and
consequently fewer food service managers.
So how will culinary help me advance my career goals? Taking the shop will
provide me with a valuable introduction to restaurant basics. With the skills I learn I
will then be able to get hired in a restaraunt, and accumulate work experience before
eventually becoming a food service manager. And if I can successfully become a

The Diamonds And Diamond Jewelry Market

This is also true for high end diamond jewelry. Brands reduce consumers risk of
making the wrong purchasing choice and help them express their personality by way
of association.
Increase in technical ability in synthetic gems: Synthetic gem companies and the
technology they use are becoming increasingly sophisticated. If synthetic stones leak
into the diamond value chain without being properly labelled as synthetic, they may
pose a risk to the industry by undermining consumer confidence in the authenticity of
what they are buying.
Four Uncertainties that can define the future:
The global macroeconomic outlook:
The first uncertainty to take into account is the global macroeconomic outlook.
Historically, demand for diamonds has increased more or less in line with GDP
growth. We expect this to continue in the future.
The future of retail consolidation and branding:
Retailers play an important role in influencing whether and how consumers buy
diamonds. Their ability to invest in attracting consumers to the category (for instance,
through branding) is determined by the health and scale of individual players in the
market. A fragmented retail industry is unlikely to invest significantly in promoting
diamond jewellery. Potential changes in consumer attitudes about diamonds:
Retailers can only attract consumers to the diamond jewellery category if consumers
perceive diamonds as being inherently valuable and attractive and more desirable than
other luxury goods.

No restaurant should rely solely on incentives for marketing purposes because the

as filling seats on weeknights makes sense. Of course, there are hidden costs that

The Pros
Organic foods are free of harmful pesticides, antibiotics, GMOs, and additives.
They have less of an environmental impact than conventional farming.
The nutritional value is typically higher in organic foods.
Avoid pesticides
One of the main reasons to buy organic food is to avoid possible exposure to
pesticides. Over 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used every year in the United
States alone, according to a study in Reviews on Environmental Health. These
chemicals are designed to be toxic. They are used in an attempt to prevent damage
from insects, weeds, rodents, and fungus. However, their long term safety in low

While there are no current long term studies about the potential impacts of pesticide
residue on human health, there is growing evidence that concentrated pesticide
exposure is related to increased rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and

Brief Summary Of The Movie Food Inc
Food Inc. is a movie about the true production process of the food that all of america
eats and produces. This movie shows the true horrors in the production process of
meats, grains and vegetables. In the beginning of agriculture, agricultural farmers
would farm grains, fruits and vegetables for themselves so they had enough food to
provide for their own families. As agriculturegrew, we were able to use livestock to
our advantage when workers were trying to farm. The livestock provided us with meat
, without having to hunt for it, and it also provided people different materials and
necessities depending on what animal was used as their livestock. Livestock was

Each farmer and each of his workers would take good care of every plant they
harvested and they made sure the livestock had all of the right nutrients in their
systems before eating them. As the farmers were making sure everything was
treated correctly and everything was healthy, they were able to take care of their
livestock without harming them. Since there were no agricultural technological
advances yet, everything was done by hand or with the help of livestock to make
farming easier. Sustainable agriculture was practiced for many years until the
Green Revolution. The Green Revolution increased agricultural production
worldwide and led to commercial farming, which is now the most popular form of
farming. Many industries now have abused the power of commercial farming
making every animal eat differently than what the animal would naturally be eating
used to and they are also making the animals sick before they are turned into
products. Food Inc. shows the realization of how badly the animals are treated
through this documentary. The animals, such as chickens and cows, are being
cooped up in a small building where they have no free space to exercise their legs,
thus making their legs frail and damaged. As that is very common in the
commercial farming industry, it is animal abuse. Instead of cows being able to roam
freely and eat grass as they naturally would, they are being fed corn in buckets so the
farmers can fatten them up in a short amount of time. As the farmers are now making
the main diet of all animals corn, it changed the way their meat

the axle lengths of carts and to help his Army s move more effectively on the
thousands of
miles of roads that were built. Now with the First Emperor making changes, to most it
would
seem like he was a bold conquer who didn t let any obstacles stand in his way. But
these
traditional evaluations of him was entirely negative. Chinese historians listed him or

him as cruel, arbitrary, impetuous, suspicious and even superstitious megalomatic,

Dead Poets Society Conformity
Literary Essay Dead Poets Society
amp;#9;Bill Beattie once said, amp;quot; The aim of education should be to teach us
how to think rather than what to think rather to improve our minds, so as to enable
us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.
amp;quot; All too often, however, individual thoughts are crushed by the powerful
weight of conformity. In the film Dead Poets Society, conformity exercises it s
influence and the results prove disastrous for some. For others, the effect of
conformity compels them towards individual strength and the discovery of one s true
self.

Perhaps they were clapping because everyone else was clapping, or perhaps they were

amp;#9;All too often, the words of the textbook are considered undisputed fact. All
chemistry textbooks will list the elements with the same symbols and all Latin
textbooks will list approximately the same translations. The poetry textbook, written
by a Dr. Pritchett, attempts to lump words that are meant to touch the heart into the
same factual categories of math and the sciences. Can Dr. Pritchett s method of
analyzing poetry by graphing its importance and perfection be used to measure what
one feels? More importantly, is Dr. Pritchett s method the only method that one must
use when measuring the greatness of poetry and can poetry be looked at using only
the mind and not the heart?
amp;#9;Mr. Keating did not feel that poetry was meant to be analyzed using
measurable techniques but rather through the feelings of one s heart. He summed up
his feelings on Dr. Pritchett s method of measuring the greatness of poetry in one
word, amp;quot;Excrement. amp;quot;
amp;#9;He took his class on a journey of self discovery, a journey where they
learned that there is not always a right answer or a wrong one. In order to find one s
true self, one must learn to resist conformity and walk one s own way, as was
illustrated in the lesson out in the courtyard. He taught them

A Summary Of Allusions In The Christmas Carol By
Charles...
An allusion is where an author makes a reference to an event or a person. Most of
the time authors make allusions in reference towards historical events or famous
people. Sometimes allusions are made in reference towards current events or
famous people. When authors use allusions they do not give a lot of details,
because they hope that the reader will understand the reference that is made, without
having to explain in detail. When allusions are seen in stories they are often used as
either a metaphor or a simile. Allusions often make references to previous works of
literature, famous people, and historical events. One book where allusions are
common is in The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Charles Dickens incorporated
13 different allusions

Adderall Case Study
The perspective I would use, as the clinician, for Felix s condition, is cognitive
behavioral therapyп»ї. I would use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) because it s a
short term, goal oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands on, practical
approach to problem solving. The goal of CBT is to change patterns of thinking or
behavior that are behind people s difficulties, and so change the way they feel. This
would seem like the ideal solution to help Felix battle his troubles with focusing in
school and the appearance of irritability and sadness or so depression. Based on this
case study I would go ahead and conclude that it seems that Felix has

This is based on his damaged frontal lobe from the car accident, which can be
justified by a doctor stating that his executive function is messed up. He can be
treated with CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) through the help of learning to be
more organized and having a reward from his parents for doing the right thing. If,
his parents chose the route of medication, it would be preferred that Felix takes
Adderall. The Adderall will help him stay focused in school and control his feelings
of sadness/depression, with the help of dopamine and norepinephrine in Adderall.
The overall result shall be a more stabilized child that can go on with his/her day

Essay about Gender Stereotypes Among Children s Toys
Gender Stereotypes Among Children s Toys
When you walk into the toy section of any store, you do not need a sign to indicate
which section is the girls side and which section is the boys side. Aside from all
the pink, purple, and other pastel colors that fill the shelves on the girls side, the
glitter sticks out a lot as well. The boys toys however are mostly dark colors blue,
black, red, gray, or dark green. The colors typically used on either side are very
stereotypical in themselves.
I noticed the girls toys engaged fine motor skills more than the boys toys did. The
girls have several different types and sizes of dolls to choose from however, this also
makes dolls or items used with dolls (Barbie clothes, ... Show more content on

The boys toys mostly all used gross motor skills. Like the dolls in the girls section,
the boys have equally as many types of cars or other vehicles to choose from. The
boys side consisted of mainly three categories all together 1) action figures, 2) role
toys (guns Cops and Robbers or Cowboys and Indians ; ax, helmet, and badge
fireman; and miniature tools for pretending to be a construction worker) 3) cars.
I discovered there weren t really any toys in the boys section that didn t fit in one
of these three categories. All the boys toys were very stereotypical. The extreme
concentration of cars in the boys toys shows the stereotypical attitude that all boys
like cars. The toys that weren t car related all promoted either an aggressive
behavior or manly job. Like the girls section, very few toys didn t promote a
stereotypical idea.
Few toys were aimed equally at both genders. Even board games, while intended
for both sexes, usually seemed aimed more towards one gender or another. Both
sections had a lot of gender stereotypical toys. General ideas on girls and boys
behaviors and interests were very prevalent in the toys intended for each gender.
After really looking at the toys in both sections it is easy to understand why
stereotypical ideas about both genders are so strong since these ideas are introduced
at such a young
The Apartheid Of Apartheid And Apartheid
Colonial inheritance has had a serious effect on all Africans lives and has
irreversibly changed the continent and its people forever. The impact of apartheid is
evident when analyzing Mxolisi and Nelson Mandela s lives. Both men were
exposed to similar oppressive environments as they lived in South Africaduring
apartheid, though their stories show generational differences. Mandela was an
activist early in the apartheid regime and then spent a significant period of his life
in jail until the end of the regime as he took part in reassessment of apartheid and
negotiations. Mxolisi was born and raised during Apartheid and much of his
experiences growing up took place while Mandela was in jail. These two men were
both victims of colonial inheritance and apartheid, which lead them to extreme
measures as they acted in protest of an oppressive government with the hope that they
might gain back power, rights, and freedom for themselves and the South African
people. Decolonization was sweeping across the African continent during the 1950 s
and during this time in South Africa, apartheid was being solidified by a white
minority government. Early anti apartheid struggles were predominantly non violent
until the 1960 Sharpeville incident when police opened fire on an unarmed group of
demonstrators (Reid 292). Activists and groups such as the African National Congress
(ANC) became more violent because the government in charge was using violent
means to control them and their
Actuality In Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried
In Tim O Brien s shocking war story, The Things They Carried , the author does a
few things that would be considered odd in the modern world of literature, these
include telling the readers beforehand whether or not the story will have a happy
/ tragic ending, and the factuality. His habit of revealing the result of the story
beforehand, is much like the prologue of Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare states, Is now the two hours traffic of our stage; The which, if you with
patient ears attend, What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend (p. 7). This
practice has been executed for centuries, and has the reader focus more on the story
details to see how everything will play out, instead of getting wrapped up in how...

The purpose of this quote within the story, is to remind readers of the emotional
journey and how war can affect people, years after it s all over these men won t be
thinking of whether their friends died on a Wednesday or a Thursday, because it
won t matter. Their friend will still be gone. Personally, I find his random tidbits of
what is factual and what is O Brien s imagination to be annoying and pointless,
because the only people who could know the truth would be the people who lived it.
As a reader, it d be wise if he were to just write the stories and let his audience make
up their own minds about what they read; that s what defines a story. He states,
War is hell, but that s not the half of it, because war is also mystery and terror and
adventure and courage and discovery and holiness and pity and despair and longing
and love. War is nasty; war is fun. War is thrilling; war is drudgery. War makes you a
man; war makes you dead. (Pg. 76). This excerpt from the text meant more to me
than majority of this novel whether it fits his definition of a true war story ,
because it s the most honest depiction I ve read in awhile. When it comes down to
it, it isn t about the factuality or even the small details, a true story is based on the
way it made the reader feel.
In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Mark Fossie s suppression of Mary Anne Bell

Aol s Balance Sheet
AOL was able to beat out Prodigy and CompuServe because of the amount of
marketing that AOL used to gain customers. AOL was famous for blanketing
college campuses, book stores and random people by buying mailing list shipping
out free CD s that gave customer a free trial period to try AOL and then
successfully converting those customers to paying customer. Because of the
unprecedented amount of CD s they gave to potential customers via the mail, as
well as being available in public places, providing access to a carrier that was
previously only available if the customer actually went to the effort to acquire a disc
for access. They also invested in their network to increase modem capacity, had low

The outcome is either a net income or net loss. This net income or loss is the extra
money the company gained or lost during it s fiscal year which cannot be seen in the
balance sheet unless income statement is prepared. You will find Net income or loss
from income statement exists in the equity section of the balance sheet.
The Balance Sheet give investors an idea what the company owns, and owes, as
well as the amount invested by shareholders. The Balance Sheet also provides a
glimpse of the company s assets, liabilities and shareholders equity at a specific point
in time. The Balance Sheet helps to give us the financial status of the company.
(Investopedia 2016)
The main purpose of the cash flow statement is to show the entrance and exit of cash,
and whether the cash gained as a result of the company s operations activities,
investing or financing activities. A cash flow statement of a healthy company would
show that the density of cash entrance comes from its operating activities. The net
entrance or exist of cash should be equal to the difference between beginning and
ending balance of cash that appears in the balance sheet

  • 3. Essay on Biographical References in and Hemingway s Male... Throughout the Nick Adams and other stories featuring dominant male figures, Ernest Hemingway teases the reader by drawing biographical parallels to his own life. That is, he uses characters such as Nick Adams throughout many of his literary works in order to play off of his own strengths as well as weaknesses: Nick, like Hemingway, is perceptive and bright but also insecure. Nick Adams as well as other significant male characters, such as Frederick Henry in A Farewell to Arms and Jake Barnes in The Sun Also Rises personifies Hemingway in a sequential manner. Initially, the Hemingway character appears to be impressionable, but he evolves into an isolated individual. Hemingway, due to an unusual childhood and possible post traumatic... The operation is inferred to be successful but Hemingway liked to hold grudges, whether real or imaginary. In Indian Camp, after the caesarian procedure is completed, Nick Adams father says, I haven t any anesthetic, but her screams are not important (16). Not only was this a demeaning and boorish way of referring to the indigenous female but the comment demonstrates his total indifference for the invasiveness of the procedure. Hemingway stated that he had always held it against his father for taking out his tonsils without any anesthetic (48). To conclude the story the new born situation lead to a discussion between Nick and his father, the doctor. They talk about death, probably in the same unique manner that Ernest Hemingway and his father did. The similarities to Nick Adams personal life are unmistakably reflected in Hemingway s. • 5. Essay about High School Cliques High School Cliques High school cliques are typical during teenage years, giving members a feeling of acceptance and belonging. But I believe that cliques conversely damage a teen s self esteem. The high school should get involved in helping all students feel more socially included . How can a student feel like they socially fit in? It is the responsibility of the high schoolto create an atmosphere for the student body which promotes acceptance and inclusion of other kids, allowing kids to feel like they belong. Cliques tend to be exclusive, only accepting those who are similar to them such as their interest in sports, after school activities, hobbies, or even by appearance and other superficial things. Another problem with high school cliques is that kids in them feel superior to some of the student who have trouble socially or are reluctant to be in a social situation. For example, a student transfers to new school and doesn t know anyone. The cliques seem to feel superior because they already have an established group of friends, while the newcomer is still struggling. This would be a great opportunity for the high school counselor or the teachers to help students feel included in the high school social scene by introducing them to kind and friendly students. Cliques tend to have the same ideas or follow the same opinions on different topics. They usually think alike. When someone new enters the picture, they may have new ideas and opinions that may clash with the existing group. Their solution is to exclude that particular person, in order to keep their social circle normal in their minds, so they don t have to change their thinking. If students only spend time with others who are like them racially, socially, or otherwise they may never learn how to live and work with people who are different. (Kay Herting Wahl, a University of Minnesota assistant professor of educational psychology) Cliques are so exclusive in this generation and kids are only associating with other very similar to themselves. This does not allow them to explore different people from different experiences or life

  • 8. Charlemagne Congenhard Analysis Another aspect of Einhard s writing that must be questioned is his mention of friendships with other kings as this is another area which seems to have a strong subtext. Einhard mentions that Charlemagne made some alliances through friendship however these friendships often have a deeper reason for their existence than purely his friendly nature: fear. When Alfonso [II], the king of Galicia and Asturias... ordered that in Charle s presence he was only to be referred to as his subject he may have been acting out of humility. However as this is not the first time The Life of Charlemagnementions people acting humble in the presence of the Charlemagne it can be assumed that either it was normal to act this way in front of another king, or that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these kings went to great lengths to appease King Charlemagne, giving up their land, property, and even titles. While these may all be just sumptuous gifts from royals as a sign of friendship, it could be indicative of something much more threatening. Comparatively the emperors of Constantinople, Nicephorus [I], Michael [I], and Leo [V] thought that Charlemagne might want to seize their empire for gaining the title of emperor but were brought to peace by the creation of a treaty. Later the words about these emperors voluntarily seeking friendship may allude to the fact that others sought Charlemagne s friendship out of necessity rather than of their own free will. Lupus, the duke of Gascons, gave similar obedience and gifts to the king only this was not out of friendship but out of fear. Charlemagne threatened to wage war on Lupus if he did not return a fugitive to the king, but with the prisoner he also entrusted himself and the territory he governed to [Charle s] power. This undeniable similarity could be the key to understanding the roots of friendships between Charlemagne and
  • 9. Essay On Environmental Pollution Pollutants are impacting aquatic organisms distributed by daily human activities and natural occurrences. An extensive amount of pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and hydrocarbons can result in direct significant damage, e.g. death. However lower levels of these harmful substances can be stored in an organism and increase as it continues and follows up the food chain, a process called biomagnification or bioaccumulation, having the greatest effect on the top predator of that food chain. A common result of the pollutants can lead to stress, changing of the immune system, inhibit lysozyme activity, damage gills, metabolism, and growth. Other factors include an excessive amount of nutrients in the environment. Nitrogen can make its way into aquatic ecosystems when there is an increase in nitrous oxide in the air, allowing eutrophication. Algae and bacteriafeed off the nitrogen, so a high number of these organisms appear and use oxygen around them as the feed, causing hypoxic zones, or dead zones. Acidification, an increase in the ecosystem s pH acidity from acid rain, which occurs from an increase in CO2 from air pollution. Aquatic organisms have a range of tolerance, and water with high acidic pH will lead the organism out of the range of tolerance, resulting in stress of the organism, and eventually death. Further studies are being pursuited to see larger impacts of globalized pollution on aquatic species and their ecosystems. Keywords: Pollutants, pesticides,

This novel of 544 pages was published on 1861 by Chapman Hall. It describes the protagonist life since he was a kid and a radical change he had, to the life before another unexpected change. In this report I m going to briefly summarize a part of this extent book. After Pip received a secret benefactor (which he thought was Miss Havisham), his life changed drastically. Now he had an opulent life, and was afraid to be disapproved by his old friends. Joe went to visit Pip, but Pip was acting annoyed until he told him Estella was back and wanted to see him. Great Expectations finish as Pip and Estella wander holding hands through the garden in the moonlight. I think the purpose of Charles Dickens was to create an involving story to entertain his public, which in my opinion was achieved, and make it a relatable story. I don t consider Great Expectations difficult, but you have to pay attention because it has many stories. Maybe some of the weaknesses of the book are that it is very old so it s not that relatable to today s lifestyle, but if we consider the time when it was wrote, it is very complex, well written and interesting. I would definitely recommend it to others, but only to the people I know would like to read it. In conclusion is a very good book, obviously by a very recognized and well known writer. The spite of Estella marked me the most, because she gained a lot of hate to every man she knew just because of what Compeyson did to her. The impression the book left me was that maybe Charles Dickens had many feelings like rancor inside him, but also wanted to eliminate and forgive others. He had a great sense but realistic sense of love because he knew that even when two people love each other, sometimes it isn t possible for different

Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million in wireless phone. The market of cell phones in the United States is constantly increasing and the 162 million users will increase in the next few years. . This tremendous increase is due to the current and ongoing development of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone. Throughout the history of the mobile phone industries collaborate with each other in order to stay successful in this fast changing field. Worldwide wireless companies have been cooperating with each other. This collaboration is due to a lot of reasons that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay profitable. Wireless companies have the opportunity to get market shares for both products and accessories. When these companies merge they can then share their markets and products and offer a good service to its customers. Without working together smaller wireless companies at times fall victim to the strong competitions and they will eventually become bankrupt and forced to shut down. Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone industry to maintain profits and increase customer base. One of the ways that cell phone companies maintain profits and increase customer base is through merger or acquisition with other companies to share new technologies for

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or whether it demonstrates a vulnerability unique to the U.S. system of corporate governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to produce superior performance results. As discussed later in this Article, Enron s financial maneuvering, which led to the company s massive 2001 restatement of earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure from investors. Once it was stabilized, the temperature was entered to calibrate. The same process was repeated for the other two beakers, the room temperature and boiling water. Once calibration was complete, the next step in the investigation was to determine the enthalpy of heat solution for the two salts. Each salt was measured 1 gram and set aside. To find the enthalpy a calorimeter was used, then filled 50ml of room temperature water in a graduated cylinder. The water was poured into the calorimeter cup then close the top and measured the initial temperature. Then the top was opened and 1gram of Ammonium chloride was pour into the cup, stirred the salt with the rod and once it reached plateaued the final temperature was recorded. The same process was done for the second salt Sodium thiosulfate. The step taken to reduce error in the experiment was to measure the content as accurately as possible and redo the calculation multiple times to make sure it is

Factors such as; a more informed user community, need for new systems with enhanced functionality and a shift towards cooperative systems developments have shaped the role of a system analyst in recent days (Graf Misic, 1993). In organizations that range for small scale businesses to multinational corporations there is a constant change in the external environment in which they operate that poses both threats and opportunities. This mandates companies to have an eye for opportunities and re engineer their current business processes to accommodate changes to achieve a competitive advantage. But in most cases, companies want custom made software that best satisfies their requirements. As discussed by (Zhang, 2014) in class, there is no single off the shelf software application that can cater to the functional requirements of organizations. Hence, as mentioned by (Hoffer, George Valacich, 2008), I believe that system analysts adopt system analysis and design process to develop application software that is tailor made to accommodate the expectations or requirements of the client. ROLE OF A SYSTEM ANALYST IN SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE There are specific methodologies that organizations follow to develop and maintain their information systems. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conventional methodology that organizations adopt for system analysis and design. This life cycle contains five phases such as planning, analysis, design, implementation and maintenance (Hoffer, George Valacich, 2008). At every stage of the SDLC, system analysts cooperate with other business professionals, programmers, professionals and testers to determine the progress of the system analysis and design. During the planning phase, the information needs of the organization are analyzed and translated into the project plan. An important outcome of the planning phase is the formulation of the project boundary or scope by the system analyst. Hence, this phase necessitates the collaboration between the project manager and system analysts

Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of wedding vows by the couple, presentation of a gift, and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or leader. Special wedding garments are often worn, and the ceremony is followed by a wedding reception. Music, poetry, prayers or readings from Scripture or literature also may be incorporated into the ceremony (Wedding, 2012). Shagan is the practice of welcoming the bride into the groom s family. Blessing the bride with gifts is a way of showing acceptance of her into the family. The groom s family brings gifts in the form of clothes, jewelry, and bangles for the bride. The bride s family in return presents the groom with gifts of clothes and jewelry. The bride s family distributes gifts as a gesture of thanks. They show their appreciation, to the groom and his family for taking in their daughter. Then they begin celebration of the couple with music. Family and friends sing to the beat of the small drum. The Shagan ceremony is usually hosted in two separate ceremonies one, by the bride s family and the other by the groom s. Once the Shagan ceremony is wrapped up, the families begin to prepare for the wedding ceremony. The wedding is given at a traditional Christian Church in India (Indian Wedding Rituals, 2012). A lot of things are similar like getting married in a church is traditional in America too, but not always the norm. Americans get married everywhere. Whether it s outside in a vineyard or it s on the pitcher s mound of a baseball stadium. I think Americans do what they feel would make their wedding the most amazing and not go by all the traditions of religion or culture to make them happy. The wedding is performed during the week, late afternoon. Most wedding ceremonies in India are performed during the week.

Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell Essay Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell Andrew Marvell s elaborate sixteenth century carpe diem poem, To His Coy Mistress , not only speaks to his coy mistress, but also to the reader. Marvell s suggests to his coy mistress that time is inevitably rapidly progressing and for this he wishes for her to reciprocate his desires and to initiate a sexual relationship. Marvell simultaneously suggests to the reader that he or she should act upon their desires as well, to hesitate no longer and seize the moment before time, and ultimately life, expires. Marvell makes use of allusion, metaphor, and grand imagery in order to convey a mood of majestic endurance and innovatively explicate the carpe diem motif. To show the passage of ... Although Marvell tries to equate his love for his mistress to plants, his argument is undermined by a plant?s biological incapableness of contemplation and reciprocal physical affection. Nevertheless, the speaker continues his praises of love, but points out that there is not enough time for further praise because time is passing quickly. The poem then acquires a more serious tone when the poem loses its exaggerations and embellishments. He reassures his coy mistress that ?you deserve this state? of praise and high acknowledgment, But at my back I always hear Time?s wingГЁd chariot hurrying near. (21 22) Rather than explicitly saying death is near, Marvell substitutes life?s bleakness with a ?winged chariot.? He slowly becomes more frustrated with her ?long preserved virginity? and tires to inform his mistress that death is near and they still have not had intercourse. His frustration can be seen in his sexual pun on the word ?quaint? which symbolically refers to female genitalia. The intense imagery of genitalia is again echoed when Marvell describes to his coy mistress that even after death the ?worms shall try that long preserved virginity? (27 28). Here the worms take on a phallic symbol, reinforcing his sexual desires. The speaker abstractly states that holding onto her virginity will do her no good because she will be
  • 22. Statute Of Limitations In Criminal Law Across the United States, many criminal courts have created a rule known as statute of limitations. Statute of limitations sets forth a time limit to raising a legal issue in order to not only maintain the integrity of evidence gathered for the trial, but to also protect people from being harassed about a crimethat was never tried a long time ago. In order to begin a criminal case within statute of limitations, a prosecutor must bring forth formal charges against a defendant within a specific amount of time after a crime is first discovered by law enforcement. The amount of time that a prosecutor can file criminal charges against a defendant depends on the crime s classification under the federal or state criminal code. Because of the different classifications of crimes in criminal codes, there are several forms of time limitations that prosecutors should know before deciding to file criminal charges against a defendant. The first type of offense is known as an infraction. In the criminal code, infractions are crimes that carry a punishment of paying a fine ( Felonies, Misdemeanors and Infractions: The Differences , n.d.). Once law enforcement discovers this type of offense, the prosecutor is given exactly six months to file charges against the defendant ( Time Limits for Charges: State Criminal Statutes of Limitations , n.d.). Some examples of infractions can include citations for parking violations, running a red light, and speeding. The next type of offense is known as

Warriors cannot simply waltz through a tough battle, shedding blood left and right and taking all the glory and credit for themselves. There are often tough decisions to be made. Warriors also cannot just think of themselves, for their decisions often affect the lives of others as well. They need the heroic code to guide them in their decision making. He did not want to fight the dragon because of his age, but felt that he owed it to the king to do it. Beowulf was so highly revered that everyone was deeply saddened by his death. He truly lived his life exactly to the Germanic heroic code. Nearly all of Beowulf s actions in this poem follow the heroic code. He saved lives, fought every battle bravely, was loyal even in situations of life and death, courageous, and rewarded and revered even the warriors underneath him. The fact that he died in battle just means that he did not only live as a hero but die as one too. The last example of the heroic code in epic stories is from The Epic of Gilgamesh. Similarly to Beowulf, Achilles, and Hector, Gilgamesh was very strong and very brave, like a typical hero. He is on a quest to be the ultimate hero and achieve everlasting life. Gilgamesh has fought and won battles against several infamous monsters: Humbaba, the Bull of Heaven, and a pack of vicious lions. However, even though Gilgamesh was very brave and strong, he was not a good king to his people. He put his own interests before theirs and ruled with a cruel iron fist, as well as being obsessed with his own legacy. In conclusion, the heroic code was a set of beliefs and values that guided warriors to make the tough decisions that they would undoubtedly be

The Green Revolution increased agricultural production worldwide and led to commercial farming, which is now the most popular form of farming. Food Inc. shows the realization of how badly the animals are treated through this documentary. The animals, such as chickens and cows, are being cooped up in a small building where they have no free space to exercise their legs, thus making their legs frail and damaged. As that is very common in the commercial farming industry, it is animal abuse. Instead of cows being able to roam freely and eat grass as they naturally would, they are being fed corn in buckets so the farmers can fatten them up in a short amount of time. As the farmers are now making the main diet of all animals corn, it changed the way their meat

The poetry textbook, written by a Dr. Pritchett, attempts to lump words that are meant to touch the heart into the same factual categories of math and the sciences. Can Dr. Pritchett s method of analyzing poetry by graphing its importance and perfection be used to measure what one feels? More importantly, is Dr. Pritchett s method the only method that one must use when measuring the greatness of poetry and can poetry be looked at using only the mind and not the heart? amp;#9;Mr. Keating did not feel that poetry was meant to be analyzed using measurable techniques but rather through the feelings of one s heart. • 46. Essay about Gender Stereotypes Among Children s Toys Gender Stereotypes Among Children s Toys When you walk into the toy section of any store, you do not need a sign to indicate which section is the girls side and which section is the boys side. Aside from all the pink, purple, and other pastel colors that fill the shelves on the girls side, the glitter sticks out a lot as well. The boys toys however are mostly dark colors blue, black, red, gray, or dark green. The colors typically used on either side are very stereotypical in themselves. I noticed the girls toys engaged fine motor skills more than the boys toys did. The girls have several different types and sizes of dolls to choose from however, this also makes dolls or items used with dolls (Barbie clothes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boys toys mostly all used gross motor skills. Like the dolls in the girls section, the boys have equally as many types of cars or other vehicles to choose from. The boys side consisted of mainly three categories all together 1) action figures, 2) role toys (guns Cops and Robbers or Cowboys and Indians ; ax, helmet, and badge fireman; and miniature tools for pretending to be a construction worker) 3) cars. I discovered there weren t really any toys in the boys section that didn t fit in one of these three categories. All the boys toys were very stereotypical. The extreme concentration of cars in the boys toys shows the stereotypical attitude that all boys like cars. The toys that weren t car related all promoted either an aggressive behavior or manly job. Like the girls section, very few toys didn t promote a stereotypical idea. Few toys were aimed equally at both genders. Even board games, while intended for both sexes, usually seemed aimed more towards one gender or another. Both sections had a lot of gender stereotypical toys. General ideas on girls and boys behaviors and interests were very prevalent in the toys intended for each gender. After really looking at the toys in both sections it is easy to understand why stereotypical ideas about both genders are so strong since these ideas are introduced at such a young
  • 47. The Apartheid Of Apartheid And Apartheid Colonial inheritance has had a serious effect on all Africans lives and has irreversibly changed the continent and its people forever. The impact of apartheid is evident when analyzing Mxolisi and Nelson Mandela s lives. Both men were exposed to similar oppressive environments as they lived in South Africaduring apartheid, though their stories show generational differences. Mandela was an activist early in the apartheid regime and then spent a significant period of his life in jail until the end of the regime as he took part in reassessment of apartheid and negotiations. Mxolisi was born and raised during Apartheid and much of his experiences growing up took place while Mandela was in jail. These two men were both victims of colonial inheritance and apartheid, which lead them to extreme measures as they acted in protest of an oppressive government with the hope that they might gain back power, rights, and freedom for themselves and the South African people. Decolonization was sweeping across the African continent during the 1950 s and during this time in South Africa, apartheid was being solidified by a white minority government. Early anti apartheid struggles were predominantly non violent until the 1960 Sharpeville incident when police opened fire on an unarmed group of demonstrators (Reid 292). Activists and groups such as the African National Congress (ANC) became more violent because the government in charge was using violent means to control them and their
  • 48. Actuality In Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried In Tim O Brien s shocking war story, The Things They Carried , the author does a few things that would be considered odd in the modern world of literature, these include telling the readers beforehand whether or not the story will have a happy / tragic ending, and the factuality. His habit of revealing the result of the story beforehand, is much like the prologue of Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare states, Is now the two hours traffic of our stage; The which, if you with patient ears attend, What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend (p. 7). This practice has been executed for centuries, and has the reader focus more on the story details to see how everything will play out, instead of getting wrapped up in how... The purpose of this quote within the story, is to remind readers of the emotional journey and how war can affect people, years after it s all over these men won t be thinking of whether their friends died on a Wednesday or a Thursday, because it won t matter. Their friend will still be gone. Personally, I find his random tidbits of what is factual and what is O Brien s imagination to be annoying and pointless, because the only people who could know the truth would be the people who lived it. As a reader, it d be wise if he were to just write the stories and let his audience make up their own minds about what they read; that s what defines a story. He states, War is hell, but that s not the half of it, because war is also mystery and terror and adventure and courage and discovery and holiness and pity and despair and longing and love. War is nasty; war is fun. War is thrilling; war is drudgery. War makes you a man; war makes you dead. (Pg. 76). This excerpt from the text meant more to me than majority of this novel whether it fits his definition of a true war story , because it s the most honest depiction I ve read in awhile. When it comes down to it, it isn t about the factuality or even the small details, a true story is based on the way it made the reader feel. In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Mark Fossie s suppression of Mary Anne Bell and her desire for survival transforms her into
