each wrapper after they chew the gum, and it can be assumed that those will come

1.0Introduction
Money laundering as a form of cross border crime involves the use of legal tender
in a financial transaction in order to conceal the origin, source or destination of such
legal tender derived through illegal means. The sole aim of every money launderer
is to misrepresent to any law enforcement authority or agency that the source of the
funds are clean. As such it would be a difficult task for any enforcement authority to
trace the source of the funds and by so doing the money launderers are able to escape
prosecution or conviction.

2.0 CONCEPTUAL CLASSIFICATION
The porosity of the borders of most ECOWAS countries has led to the mammoth rise
in the rate of cross border crimes, ranging from drug trafficking, human trafficking,
tax evasion to money laundering. This rise has not only expanded, but has multiplied
these crimes to a more sophisticated type with a crippling effect on the local economy
and international relations of these countries.
These increase can be linked to the ready ease with which humans and goods could
travel between these ECOWAS countries, whilst the developments in technology has
further facilitated the transfer of the proceeds from such criminal activities in ways
hitherto unknown, this led to the swift rate at which money laundering amongst these
countries developed5. Other economic and financial crimes, for example, drug
trafficking and human trafficking also grew in limps and bounds, thus contributing to
the growth in the incidence of money laundering and financial terrorism.
By reason of the fact that the global agenda to curb financial crimes calls for
cooperative approach among countries in addressing these challenges, introducing a
number of international legislations on money laundering and financial terrorism
became a necessity. The treaties includes; the United Nation s Convention against the

The concert I will be reviewing was performed by Gregory Sauer (cello) and Eric
Jenkins (piano) as part of the UTRGV Patron of the Arts Guest Artist Series, which
began at 7:30 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016 in the TSC Arts Center Performance
Hall. This well rounded program included modern works from the 20th Century as
well as works of the Late Romantic and Baroque eras. Sauer s style and expression
varied according to the piece he was performing; however, the principle elements of
his virtuosity remained unaltered throughout Monday night s performance. These
foundational practices are what made each articulation and individual piece not only
well understood, but (and more importantly) consistent.
Before a performance, the concert hall is a convivial atmosphere where patrons catch
up and music students engage in discussing the inside scoop around campus, all
unbeknownst of the (not so) subtle preparation taking place on stage; Monday night
was no exception. Following the initial applaud, Gregory Sauer sat in his chair,
positioned his Cello and began playing CassadГі s Suite for Solo Cello . Typically, I
would have sat back and enjoyed the program, but having read up on the instrument
and the positioning of the body in respect to the instrument, I immediately noticed the

A Note On The Value Of Physical Contact
Humans are oriented around touch. Babies crave nurturing and nearness to their
mother from the minute they exit the womb. Something as simple as a warm
embrace can wipe sorrow and stress away. This need for physical contact is the
reason why letters carry so much more value than an email or text message. Letters
are tangible: they re a piece of paper that can be stored in a drawer or tacked up on
a wall. They require time and attention to write, so they are able to convey such an
emotional closeness people who are far away. There is such a stark contrast
between dialogue and text: people are often more willing to honestly write down
their feelings to express them aloud. That is why Mark Dunn held true to the
passions of his hyper literate Nollopians by deciding write his debut novelentirely in
letters; they mean something to people, especially those who are in love.
Mittie is a prime example of this concept seeing as she keeps a box of all the letters
she had received from Amos dating back long before the alphabet began to fall
apart. Reading these letters her mother had treasured actually gave Ella a sense of

School Shootings
A school shooting occurred on February 14, 2018. The shooter is 19 year old
Nikolas Cruz. Cruz had planned this for a while. He slipped into the school carrying
a rifle case, pulled a fire alarm, waited for students to leave there classrooms then shot
up the school. After which, when the students were being evacuated, he proceed to
leave behind other students to be unnoticed. Cruz killed 17 students and adults, and
wounded 14 others.
I believe the school shooting could ve been preventable. Through the years of 2008
2017, there were 18 warning calls all about Cruz s actions about school shootings.
Also Cruz had some very disturbing post on social media. Including one stating, I m
going to become a professional school shooter . No actions

While many associate luxury with comfort and recognition of elevated status,
Thoreau argues that these luxuries over complicate life. Specifically, the

Envy plagues those who cannot afford these so called luxuries, causing people to
needlessly divide themselves. These divisions delusion people with the notion that in
order to truly feel happy, they too must to buy these goods in order to feel satisfied.
Subsequently, these drive people to lose sight of the truly important aspect of life:
gratitude. A scientific study performed by Dr. Robert A. Emmons and Dr. Michael E.
McCullough found that subjects who wrote what they were thankful for were more
optimistic and felt better about their lives ( In Praise of Gratitude ). In relation to the
materialistic nature society promotes, people become accustomed to focusing on
what they do not have instead of what they already possess. With this, it becomes
almost impossible to feel gratitude. As a result, we cannot enjoy the optimism and
overall contentment with life gratitude provides if we continue to pursue the useless
objects deemed as luxuries. Once again, to apply this concept to modern life, Thoreau
s teaching still stands; we must stop chasing after meaningless luxuries and practice
