Damaged Tissue Research Paper
The damaged tissues cilia, mucous membranes, alveoli, and capillaries are all
affected by smoking, but in different ways. The cilia s purpose is to filter out dust
and other particles that flow through the nose. However, the Cilia gets clogged with
cigarette toxins methane, carbon dioxide, and arsenic and this causes their functions
to slow down for hours at a time, making their system much less efficient, as well as
the mucous membranes to secrete excessive amounts of mucous, causing symptoms
of a cold. The toxins build up a layer of mucus and tar which the cilia are unable to
breakdown. Tissues within the mucous membranes increase, so more clogging occurs
from smoking. This excess mucous can fester an infection and this overwhelms the
Christian Sayings
Within Christian circles, there are many different expressions and phrases that have
become commonplace. Among those heavily used sayings is the notion that
Christians are to be in the world but not of the world.
This phrase, that is often recited as if it were a direct quote from scripture, is used as
a mantra by many Christians to separated themselves from the world. So what does it
actually mean for a follower of Christ to be in the world but not of it, and does the
phrase s common application aid the advancement of the gospel?
Daniel Chinn, assistant professor of biblical and theological studies, said Christians
started using the phrase as an interpretation of a bible passage and though the phrase
is often treated as scripture it is not in the bible verbatim.
The phrase In the world but not of the world comes from ... Show more content on

God is consistently saying all the way through This earth is good and my people
are going to live here forever like I designed it to be from the very beginning,
Chinn said. And then smack dab in the middle of the story you ve got the
incarnation, which I think is God s greatest statement to say My created world is
good, so good in fact, that I, the second person of the trinity, am going to come down
and take on the dirt of humanity, literally.
Though the phrase In the world but not of the world has truth that can be unpacked
from it, Chinn said the implication of how Christians commonly use the phrase is
flawed because often it is used to justify separation of themselves from their culture,
which is not what scripture is calling them to do.
Some Christians hold a prospective that the culture is bad, Chinn said, and many
separate themselves from the culture by having all things Christian in their

Saving Time
Time management determines by the difference between successful and unsuccessful
people. Successful people are able to balance the goals they wish to achieve and
duties. And this success comes from their ability to their time optimally in light of
their objectives.
There are two types in our lives:
Type I: A difficult timeorganizing, or managing how much time we spend in our
basic needs such as eating, comfort, family relations and social mission. It is a time
cannot use it a lot in what has been designated a degree of importance to keeping
equilibrium in our life.
Type II: Time that can be organized and managed to devote to work, our own lives.

organize the office. (www.manageyourlifenow.com).
Sometimes we need rest and break to achieve the goal, so what we do is close the
computer, close the phone, shut down the TV or anything that makes noise. Take a
short nap. That gives more energy for every day. Also sleeping at night is better.
What I understood from these ways is if we want to manage our time well, we have
to look for efficacy and efficiencies.
Efficacy: to perform work properly and reach the desired result.
Efficiency: the performance of work in the right way and getting to the desired result,
but with minimal effort, time and cost. we need to profit and Exploit marginal times,
times between commitments and actions (such as: the use of the car, waiting at the
doctor, travel, waiting for meals, expected visitors). We must know How we spend
time, then decompose and identify times marginal, and develop a plan of operation to
benefit them as much as possible. Also do not give up urgent for the things
unnecessary. According to Cameron Chapman bellow are sixteen tips to help us
better managing our time:
1) Get organized.
2) Separate work Space from Everything Else Space.
3) Take advantage of time
Ancient China Essay
One of the most important inventions of all time was the invention of gunpowder.
Imagine their enemy s surprise when the Chinese first demonstrated their newest
invention in the eighth century AD. Chinese scientists discovered that an explosive
mixture could be produced by combining sulfur, charcoal, and saltpeter (potassium
nitrate). The military applications were clear. New weapons were rapidly developed,
including rocketsand others that were launched from a bambootube (Franklin
Institute). The Chinese are known for their inventions that still are used in the
modern day. Those inventions are paper, gunpowder, books, and much more.

I believe Paper was the greatest invention of all Chinese inventions, even greater
than gunpowder. Chinese legend tells that the new invention of paper was
presented to the Emperor in the year 105 AD by Cai Lun (Franklin Institute). In
105 AD, Han Emperor Ho Ti s chief eunuch T sai Lun tried with a wide variety of
materials and worked with the fiber of plants until each filament was completely
separate. The individual fibers were mixed with water in a large vat. Next, a
screen was submerged in the vat and lifted up through the water, catching the fibers
on its surface. When dried, this thin layer of intertwined fiber became what today
we call paper. T sai Lun s thin, yet flexible and strong paper with its fine, smooth
surface was known as T sai Ko Shi, meaning: quot;Distinguished T sai s Paper quot;
and he became revered as the saint of papermaking.
It wasn t until the third century when the secret art of papermaking began to get out
of China, first to Vietnam and then Tibet. Taught by Chinese papermakers, Tibetans
began to make their own paper as a replacement for their traditional writing materials
(Georgia Tech). It was introduced in Korea in the forth century and spread to Japan in
sixth century. There, during the eighth century, the Empress Shotuka undertook a
massive project consisting of printing a million prayers Dharani on individual sheets

Benefits Of Private And Open Decisions Essay
Introduction
Define Tax? Franklin Roosevelt Indicated that Expenses are the levy which we pay
for the benefits of enrolment in a sorted out society . Since the last two decades
hypothetical writing on tariff has prospered, yet charge hypothesis keeps on
suffering from critical restrictions. Maybe the most genuine inadequacy is a
dichotomy in suppositions on what propels open and private choices. (Walter
Hettich And Stanley L. Winer, p. 701). Open chiefs are expected in a significant part
of the assessment writing to pick and execute strategies as per general social criteria,
for example, productivity and value. The clashing treatment of private and open
decisions confines the capacity of financial specialists to comprehend the operation of
real duty frameworks and to clarify why they have the qualities and structure that we
usually watch. (Walter Hettich And Stanley L. Winer, p. 701).
Charge structure is every now and again confusing and are furthermore to a great
degree questionable. However including a few sections or fragments, underneath
untruths a fundamental structure. In an evaluation system obligation base, rates and
acquisitions like deductions and special cases are the key parts. (Walter Hettich And
Stanley L. Winer, p. 701). A TaxBase can be characterized as The surveyed

Direct Democracy Vs. Representative Democracy
Democracy is a system of government in which the utmost influence is consigned in
the individuals and implemented directly by them or by their designated
representatives under a free voting arrangement. According to my research direct
democracy also known as pure democracy is when all the individuals come together
and make decisions by voting. They are the one who decide the regulation and
guidelines through which the people will oversee. In contrast a representative
democracyis when the population designate leaders who makes judgements on their
behalf. There are many differences between a direct and a representative democracy
and some of them are that in a direct democracy the public have authority and are
responsible for decision making

Research Paper On Materialistic Society
Our Materialistic Society
The term materialism is known as a philosophy, and also an issue in our society. By
definition, materialism is the theory or attitude that physical well being and worldly
possessions constitute the greatest good and highest value in life (Khan). This means
that our society has a tendency to consider material items or money as more
important than our spiritual values. Since youth, children have thought that having
more stuff, or better stuff, is happiness. Everyone always wants to buy the latest
device, or the newest trends, when they don t really need it. According to DeAngelis,

instead of buying the newest things that come out, you can just wait until you need
to replace them. If everyone just tried to be less materialistic, we can make our

Mao s Last Dancer Essay examples
Despite our hardships, there were also joys in our childhood . Explore the ways in
which Li s childhood was both one of great deprivations and one of great riches.
The novel, Mao s Last Dancer , was written by Li Cunxin. It tells his riveting tale of
growing up in a poor family of six boys, living in a village in China under Mao s
reign. It goes on to share his eventual defection to the United States as an artistic
dancer. His childhood was filled with both hardships and joys. But both helped him
to grow as a resilient person to achieve once thought impossible goals.

They wouldn t get to eat as much food. They wouldn t be enjoying their precious
time with their family. Instead they would be working hard in the fields to earn a
sufficient living wage. But Chinese New Yearwas a time when they felt they were on
top. They thought that they were living the high life. They all looked forward to, the
one time when we would be guaranteed wonderful food, was the Chinese New Year.
It was one joyous occasion that helped them to endure their destitute lives.
Every year, Li s family struggled to survive with the limited amount of food that
was accessible. Poverty surrounded them. They couldn t get away from it. Li
remarked, There was never enough food to feed the people, let alone the pigs.
They may have owned pigs and chickens but they could never provide them with
enough food to fatten them up to eat or for them to produce eggs. Eggs were a
rarity. Meats in their diets were uncommon. They mainly ate a lot of dried yams.
They were the easiest things to grow. They lived off yams. They relied on yams as
their food source. Everything they could grow and earn from the land depended on
the weather and luck. Every family received basic foods that the government
controlled. They were allocated a very small quantity of meat, seafood and eggs,
along with oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, wheat, and cornflour, rice and also coal each
month. The Li family tried their best to preserve as
The Call For A Revised Study On Secession
The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in
Walter L. Buenger s article, Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience. Buenger
argues there exists an extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these
studies centers on individual states actions, no one has attempted to synthesize these
works and write a history of secession for the entire South. He asserts that Texascould
serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of secession for the entire
South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously mentioned
above study on Upper and Lower South, by outlining the attributes (culture, economic,
and political ideologies) of those found in Texascompared to the attributes found in
the Upper and Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description
of the four political factions found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group
wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower South culture and ideology of
defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the nation centers on
protecting the rights and property of the individuals. Moderate secessionists shared
the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the slaveholding and cotton
growing culture. These moderates also included some wheat growers from the Upper
South and Germans living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported
secession. Moderate unionists shared

How Did Roger Chillingworth Committed The Greatest Sin
Roger Chillingworth committed the greatest sin. He seems to be the character
that has the highest amount of flaws and also the highest amount of sins. He sent
his beautiful wife away to Boston for about two years, so he could live with Native
Americans, and he became upset when he found her with a child that was not his
own. Chillingworth is also a man of science, which means more than likely, he is
not a man of God. In fact, he loses his soul to Satan and basically becomes one of
his demons. If sins could be greater or lesser than one another, his terrible sin of
revenge would be the greatest one of all. After Hester Prynne stands on the
scaffold for her sin, Chillingworth goes to her cell for two reasons. The public
reason is to take care of her and little Pearl; the private reason is to figure out who
the father of her baby is. Hester vows not to tell who the father is and not to tell
who Chillingworth really is. From that moment on, Roger Chillingworth devotes the
rest of his life to finding out who the father is and to seek revenge on that man. He
spends several years living with Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and figures out that he
is the father of Pearl. In fact, everyone in the town notices that his expressions and

Fifty Shades Of Grey Essay
Feminist theorists have historically investigated the ideas of sexuality and scrutinized
society s limited views on sex. Gayle Rubin, a theorist of gender and sex politics,
questions Western culture s understandings of sexuality and outlines behaviors which
are considered good and bad . Rubin introduces the notion of the Charmed Circle of
sexuality, an idea that illustrates the binaries that exist in our perceptions of sex such
as heterosexual/homosexual and generational/cross generational (Rubin 280).
Another theorist, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, identifies in her book Epistemology of the
Closet a fundamental principle to our understanding of sexuality: that we are all
different from one another (Sedgwick 22). As both theorists proclaim,... Show more

Fifty Shades of Grey became so popular. This can be explained by Laura Mulvey s
theory of the patriarchal structure of the active male gaze. In Mulvey s essay,
Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , she unmasks the power of patriarchy in
Hollywood cinema and explains that the unconscious of our dominantly
patriarchal society has largely structured film (Manlove 83). While Mulvey s essay
focuses on the male gaze, she also explains how women are passive and relegated
to the status of objects and therefore female viewers can only experience a narrative
secondarily, by their identification with the male (Mulvey 19). This theory is
applicable to Fifty Shades of Grey as the male gaze, and in turn the female gaze, are
largely responsible for the film s popularity because whether consciously or
unconsciously, both men and women associate with the concept of domination over

The Color Of Skin, Past Ancestry, And Place Of Living
No matter how alike people may be, segregation is a way of living. As humans we
typically find ourselves separated into groups that we can identify with; from
being athletic, to being artistic and even a person s religion. Another path to
separation taken by many is by a person s race. One s race can be described in a
variety of ways; color of the skin, past ancestry, and place of origin. Discrimination is
normally placed with race; this can either be a privilege or a disadvantage.
A race can be described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups
because of supposed physical or genetic traits shared by the group. The color of
one s skin is the identifier that most of us use to distinguish ones race. The color of
skin can reveal a lot about a person. It can tell about their origin. People in Northern
Europe or Japan tend to have lighter skin than people whose ancestors are from sub
Saharan Africa or Australia because the difference in sun exposure. The more
exposed ones skin is to the sun the darker it gets, along with the less exposed to the
sun the lighter the skin. Ethnicity and race are uniquely tied together; they are
however two separate concepts. Race has more to do with where a person originates
while ethnicity has to do with one s culture. Culture can be seen as a group of people
s traditions, customs or beliefs. Generally, with in separate cultures, the races of the
people in the group are the same, not always though. Consequently, most

Patriarchy In American Culture
Patriarchy like the dance hall text is broken down into bits and pieces. Patriarchy
in dancehall music was almost a ideology or a way of thinking that made the
Jamaicans or people that listened conform to the social norms instructed through
the music. It was the wave of dominance that and referred to the way women and
men should look, act, and also the roles one must play as a man or women in that
society. It also takes a form a racism and instills it into the minds of listener. The

Clicktivism Book Report
How Clicktivism Killed the Activist Since it s conception, the resounding sentiment
at the heart of any activist movement has been the desire to have one s voice heard.
The common ambition of activists of every kind has always been to represent the
needs and injustices of the marginalized communities in question, and in doing so, to
bring about change. Margaret Mead, a cultural anthropologist, and an outspoken
feminist once said, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens
can change the world; indeed it s the only thing that ever has. However, in recent
years, activism has begun to take on a very different form. This once small group of
thoughtful and committed citizens dedicated to justice have multiplied exponentially

Much of the incentive to become an activist is to be a part of a movement; an
integral cog in the changing of history. One indisputable benefit of social media is
its ability to effectively inform millions of people at once; this is infinitely
powerful. The interactive format of social networking invites individuals to educate
themselves on an issue and then to contribute to it, all in under ten minutes. Despite
its efficiency, the detriment of this system is that it perpetuates the idea that the
signing of a change.org petition is all it takes to make a difference. Grassroots
activism and petitioning, while absolutely fundamental parts of the pursuit of social
justice are often only the inciting steps in the lengthy and usually complicated
process of creating lasting change. In 2014, in the wake of the deaths of Michael
Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice, to name just a few, an international movement
protesting police brutality began with the hashtag #blacklivesmatter. The issue of
racially induced police brutality became a relevant topic of debate in the
presidential election that followed, and protests took place worldwide. This
movement is winning a major battle in the war against racism and much of this
success was owed to its sensational presence on social media. The Black Lives
Matter movement is an example of social networking being an invaluable tool in
spreading
Physiology Of Epilepsy
Physiology of Epilepsy
With a basic understanding of neurons and how the nervous system works, it should
be known that the brain is a very delicate system; something seemingly minor can
cause catastrophic complications. There are two key functions for the
neurotransmitters of the brain, one is responsible for communication between cells
the other is used to stop or slow it down. Sometimes this complex system becomes
out of control and causes a glitch in the electrical system of the brain resulting in what
is known as epilepsy.

No Sweat!
Sweatshops date back to as far as the 16th century, but were first exposed in Britain
in 1889. Around the 1830s 1840s, immigrants started coming to the United States
and organized sweatshops in tenement buildings. Despite poor health problems and
disease from the harsh conditions, immigrants needed the work and were
appreciative. Today sweatshops are often found in slow, developing countries, but
many are found around the world. Majority of the workers are commonly women
and children, who are usually uneducated. By classifying what a sweatshop is, it is

My concern isn t that there are too many sweatshops, but that there are too few
(Stossel, 586). This theory holds that developing countries improve their condition by
charging less but do the same work. Also developed countries will be better off,
because their workers can shift to jobs that they can do better at (561). These are the
jobs that some economists say usually show a certain level of education and training
that can be difficult to obtain in the developing world (579). Consequently,
developing countries get factories that provide multiple jobs that they would not
otherwise; therefore improving the technology and capital. With this situation
occurring, developing countries try to keep low constant wages, because
sweatshops tend to just get moved on to another location that is more willing, for
fear of losing investments and boosting gross domestic product (GDP). This only
means average wages will increase at a steady rate around the world; a nation gets
left behind if it demands wages are higher than the current market price asked for
(Ross, 566).
When asked about the working condition in sweatshops, business advocates say that
even though wages and work conditions may look mediocre by the standard
developed nations,

The global ketchup market has a value of 4.15 billion USD and is expected to grow
another 1.1 billion by 2022 (Mordor, 2017). Heinz Ketchup is the global leader in
the ketchup industry with 80 percent market share in Europe, and 60 percent market

The condiment industry as a whole was fairly stagnant from 2011 through 2016

Midwest Cities Research Paper
On the lower Mississippi River on March 19, 1968 around 0340 the SS African
collided with the Midwest Cities, a towing vessel, which was transporting two
tank barges. The front barge was the Intercity no. 14 and the rear was the Intercity
no. 11. Intercity no. 11 was loaded with 19,000 barrels of crude oil. The crude oil s
combustible vapors escaped during the collision and led to a serious shipboard
fire on the SS African Star. The SS African Star was headed downstream at a 140
degree true course at about 16 knots. The Midwest Cities was at about 320 degrees
going 6 knots upstream. The two vessels were closing in on each other at about 22

Intercity no. 11 barge on the side at about a 45 degree angle. The collision caused
the steel hulls of the two vessels to rub against each other and create sparks and
heat from the friction. These sparks and heat could have potentially been the
ignition source of the fire. The crude oil had an estimated flashpoint of 80 degrees
Fahrenheit meaning the oil was a grade C flam¬mable liquid. Fire and
explosions started in the first few minutes on Intercity no. 11. The Midwest Cities
immediately went full astern to get away from the fire and Intercity no. 14 drifted
away. The Intercity no. 11 grounded and sank. The vapors from the escaped crude
oil were blown over the African Star s bow and ignited. The flames spread
throughout the ship. The fire was in hold 2, 4, and 5. The paint was burning and
the supplies and cargo on deck was also on fire. The smoke was very thick and it
filled a large portion of the ship, including the engine space and living quarters. The
pilot decided the best option was to run the vessel aground to aid in the firefighting
and rescue operations. There was burning oil around the vessel in the water. Some
people tried to jump overboard but they would land in the fires. Many people tried
to escape out the port holes due to the fact that they were trapped in their room.
Many people s life jackets and clothing caught on fire and they burned. Ropes on the
life boats had burned, which made evacuation difficult.
Liz Holt Strictly Ballroom
The characters in Strictly Ballroom are largely caricatures. This topic will be
explored with reference to the characters Fran and Liz Holt in the film.
Liz Holt is portrayed as the dumb blonde as well as extremely shallow within the
film and this is executed in a variety of ways. Being Scott s dance partner she is
used to being in the lime light and her use of colourful costumes contributes to this
too. She wears yellow majority of the time and this is evident of her character as she
is selfish, cowardice and attention seeking. Her make up is also well overdone
further depicting this idea. Liz is also portrayed as the mean girl and drops Scott as
her dance partner the second someone better comes along. Many of the camera angles

She wears many pastels and more dull colours giving us the impression that she is
lacking confidence and is hiding behind her appearance, being her glasses and
unattractive clothing. As she progresses through the film she begins to wear clothing
and colours that make a greater statement, however, in this growth of confidence
she does not wear the costumes to attract attention but rather because she is
comfortable with the person that she has become. At first she hides behind her
glasses which stereotypically portrays her as lacking an amount of incite towards
given situations. Fran also has terrible posture, this too is linked to her lack of
confidence. She does not take pride in her hair which shows us how little she cares
about her appearance. She develops from being the stereotypical ugly duckling to a
beautiful swan . When we see Fran throughout the movie initially the camera angles
that are used are high angles to show us how inferior and a lot less dominant she is
and as she further develops the use of low angles make her come across as a lot
more powerful than what she initially
Organizational Structures Essay
Introduction The design of a company affects every aspect of the business such as the
way its members communicate, how decisions are made, and how the work is
delegated, etcetera (Dictionary.com, 2006). This layout is known as the organization
structure formally defined by Wikipedia (2006) as, the way in which the interrelated
groups of an organization are constructed. From a managerial point of view the main
concerns are ensuring effective communication and coordination. In respects to
project managementthere are three primary organizational break downs they are
functional structure, pure project structure, and matrix structure. We will take a look

If there happened to be a fluctuation in the workload this arrangement is unable to
easily respond to the changes. Functional output tends to be the primary objective of
this type organization. Functional people stick to their own specialization and avoid
being involved in cross functional activities. (Wikipedia, 2006).
Pure Project Structure A pure project organization is a self contained section or unit
within an otherwise purely functional structure. (Cogeco, 2006). In this organizational
structure the flow of communication channels through fewer people thus making it
flexible and easily adaptable to change leaving room for innovation and evolution.
According to the Cogeco Module (2006), This type of structure is typically used for
projects that are difficult to plan accurately and where resource requirement and
provision levels cannot be accurately established beforehand. The project manager
maintains complete line authority over the whole project (Kerzner, 2003).With
informal lines of communication in place it is suggested that a more centralized
direction is needed in this structure. Pure project structure may create a sense of
competition between the various project teams so when project deadlines approach
members may be likely to take shortcuts to maintain good performance records. If this
happens then the

The Negative Effects Of Natural Disasters
Natural disasters are a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the
Earth, and man made disasters are influenced by humans and they are often as a
result of negligence and human error among the factors. There is long term
physical and psychological reaction of people from both disasters. Tsunamis,
Hurricanes, and Landslides are some examples of natural disasters. On the other
hand, Gas leaks, fire accidents, and oil spills are some examples for man made
disaster. They both have a bad effect on humans. There are many people died after
both disasters.
As we all know natural disasters are a major adverse event resulting from natural
processes of the Earth. A natural disasteris defined by the UN as: the consequences of
events triggered by natural hazards that overwhelm local response capacity and
seriously affect the social and economic development of a region. Tsunamis are a
long high sea wave caused by an earthquake, submarine landslide, or other
disturbance. The tsunami accrued in Japan on 11 March 2011 is one of the biggest
Tsunamis happened in the world. The study by 150 experts from 48 research
organizations across the country determined that the wave that roared out of the
Pacific on March 11 was the largest to ever hit Japan when it struck the
Omoeaneyoshi district of Miyako City, in Iwate Prefecture. Hurricanes are also
accruing by natural disasters, a hurricane is a storm with a violent wind, in particular,

Figurative Language In The Hollow Men
In T.S Eliot s poem The Hollow Men, the speaker illustrates the loss of identity and
the absence of substance within the hollow men due to the depletion of faith in
religion following World War I.
Initially, the speaker reveals that following what was known as the war to end all
wars, the men who had fought are now void of true substance and are only a shell
of their prior selves. Specifically, the speaker describes the voices of the hollow men
to be as quiet and meaningless / as wind in dry grass (9 10). Here, Eliot s simile
demonstrates the lack of purpose the veterans of the war now possess. Just as wind
in grass creates a negligible sound, so do the voices of the men the speaker describes
in the poem. What the men say is meaningless and lacks purpose to those who hear,

Clearly, Eliot illustrates the purposelessness of the veterans due to the atrocities of
the war. Without color, shade is simply nothing, proving how the hollow men are
now nothing and lack the substances they previously possessed. Also, to emphasize
the loss of mental substance, the speaker wears Such deliberate disguises / Rat s
coat, crowskin, crossed staves / In a field / Behaving as the wind behaves (34 37).
Eliot s allusion to the scarecrow L. Frank Baum s The Wizard of Ozillustrates the
current state of brainlessness of the hollow men. In The Wizard of Oz, the
protagonist, Dorothy, comes across a scarecrow on her journey following the yellow
brick road to reach the Emerald City. The scarecrow reveals that he lacks a brain and
is only filled with straw, but that he wants to be able to think intelligent thoughts. The
allusion to this story demonstrates how there is an absence of substantial thoughts in
the veterans, but they wish they could once again return to their prior selves
preceding the war. Additionally, the speaker reveals that in the current state of the
world after
Conflict Management Style With Others
Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with
others, be it; personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate
to the conflict.
Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but
becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts
result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not?
Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many
relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a
discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently;
when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and
resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin
air . (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about
us as humans. It is an important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living
a healthy life. Our particular path decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could
be resolved quickly with everyone feeling content. However, our non verbal
behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is usually related to
unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict
management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I
followed. The style that I tend to follow is Harmonizing.
Examples Of Failure Lead To Success

Hard Times By Charles Dickens
The fictional novel, Hard Times by Charles Dickens, concentrates on the
Gradgrind family; of Mr. Thomas Gradgrind, his daughter Louisa, and son Thomas
Jr. A major theme of friendship is portrayed in the books through the character of
Mr. Gradgrind as he struggles with the idea of friendship between other characters.
According to the Nicomachean Ethics, by Aristotle, it explains a detailed account
of friendship and what it is to be a friend to others. In comparing the character Mr.
Gradgrind in Hard Times, to the 5 basis of friendship written in the Nicomachean
Ethics, Mr. Gradgrind cannot be a friend to others because he does not use emotion
but rather factual evidence in his actions toward his children. The novel confirms
Aristotle s view of friendship with Mr. Gradgrind, proving that the standards need to
be set up in order to have a proper friendship and relationship with others. The 5 basis
set up in Aristotle s Ethics are explained on page 252 and are as followed; A person
who wished for and does what is good or what appears to him to be good for his
friends sake, a person who wished for the existence and life of his friend for a friends
sake, a person who spends his time in our company, whose desires are the same as
ours, and a person who shared sorrow and joy with his friend. An overall message of
one must do well for others in order to be a proper friend 1 can be understood with
the five basis of friendship to determine if a person is an ideal friend. In Chapter

Specifics of the Case
My name is Marshall Petersen and I own a small local health food products business.
Recently, I have been looking to expand my customer base by adding product lines
that offer high quality ingredients. Offering superior products is very important in the
health food industry and my customers rely on such products to supplement their
healthy lifestyle. Approximately six months ago, my wife and I decided to attend a
Sunday school class together. The instructor of the class started a conversation with

A personally identified violation of a psychological contract is one of a negatively
emotional occurrence. The contract breach has caused me feelings of anger and
stress and I feel very deceived. I have experienced displeasure and disillusionment
with the overall relationship. (Morrison and Robinson, 1997)
Requested Remedies
In Sunday school, the grape producer discussed the importance of a covenant. A
contract is a promise that is deemed important within the Christian lifestyle.
And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude
of his mercies. (Psalm 106:45)
The grape producer should consider the new friendship, business relationship, time
invested and advertising dollars spent before he destroys my business reputation so
he can make more money. The least he could do is allow ample time to make other
supplier arrangements. He should supply me with the product for at least six months
to give me time to redirect advertising dollars and find a new supplier. My focused
advertising has only helped increase his brand while he threatens to damage
Do They All Or The School For Lovers
Cosi fan Tutte or translated, is: Thus Do They All, or The School for Lovers. It is

nutshell, the two men have a competition/a bet of whose fiancГ©e was the most
faithful. (As mentioned in Part I of the test,) The four of them end in a mess, with
their relationships ruined forever. An alternative title for this would be How To
Ruin A Relationship (Forever) For Dummies. This title, compared to Thus Do They
All or The School for Lovers is obviously more humorous. The title The School for
Lovers is actually what made me come to the alternative title. The four characters
learn that love is not what it always seems, but in my opinion the story shows that
they are too easily tempted by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They took love lightly and thought as something to bet. Everything they did
seemed like steps for ruining a relationship. Every scene followed by another made
the situation worse and worse. If the two men wanted to break up their
engagement with the women, then perhaps this was the best way to do so. Thus
the title, How To Ruin A Relationship (Forever) For Dummies was born. For the
short story, A Doll s House, I would rename it as House Rules. The story is about
Nora Helmer, and her role as housewife. The plot centers on Nora Helmer s secret
that she illegally borrowed money from Krogstad for the trip to Italy for her
husband s health. Even though she acted out of love, it was still illegal for Nora to
borrow money. She lies to Torvald that she got the money from her father. Nora
says that she will repay the debt soon, but never told Torvald because it was illegal
for married women to borrow money. When Torvald finds out in the end, he yells at

Pericles Golden Age
Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war President Donald
Trump once said. Pericles saw that the Athenians were losing a battle when it comes
to accomplishments in the arts, citizenship, and democracy. When he gained power,
he led Athens into a Golden Age. A Golden Age is when high level of
accomplishments is reached in a society. Pericleshelp create Athenian Golden Age
because of how he brought brought the idea of citizenship, the arts reaching it s
highest peak, and created the basic principles of democracy that we use today.
During the reign of Pericles, he brought the idea of citizenship to the people of Athens
. In Pericles Funeral Orations he stated that Not membership of a particular class,
but the ability which the man processes. Pericles says that in society, your class
does not matter, what matters is how you contribute to democracy. He also shows
the idea of citizenship again when he says, everyone is equal before the law.
Pericles is showing that citizens will be equal no matter what so you should not
be afraid to participate because the law will treat you equally. Once again Pericles
demonstrates the idea of citizenship when he said, power is in the hands not of a
minority but of the whole of the people. Once more, Pericles shows that everyone
has a right to be a part of democracy and encourages you to be a part of. Others
would say that because not everyone had the same rights, the rule of Pericles was not
a Golden Age, however

Chewing Gum Comparison
Contrast to what most people believe, chewing gum is ancient. There has been
evidence of man chewing tree sap as far back as the ancient Greeks. The Greeks
used resien from the mastic tree as an early form of gum. It wasn t until 1848 that
John B. Curtis saw the potential of producing gum. His first product was called State
of Maine Pure Spruce Gum. Curtis was not the only one who saw the potential in
gum. Thomas Adams was working with chicle, which is sap from the sophodilla tree,
to use as a substitute for rubber. He eventually gave up and added flavoring to his
mixture, creating chewing gum. In 1871 Adams invented a machine with the sole
purpose of producing chewing gum. Since the time of Curtis and Adam, chewing

Powdered sugar is used as a coating to keep the gum from sticking to the machinery.
The chewing gum is then transported to a temperature controlled room until it is the
right consistency, and then wrapped and packaged. After the gum is packaged it is
ready to be distributed to the public. There are many different kinds of gum that can
be grouped into three different classifications. Each classification targets different
ages and needs of the consumer. The first classification is bubble gum. Bubble gum
targets the younger generation with its sweet and colorful characteristics. Knowing
how to blow an air bubble in the elastic treat is a trick every child must learn.
Chewing gum is meant for most ages. It have a minty flavor that freshens breath and,
in some brands, kills bacteria. The only downside to chewing gum is that it is not as
rubbery as bubblegum, which makes blowing bubbles difficult. The last classification
is medicated gum. Medicated gum can be used to quickly get medication into your
bloodstream. Other medication gums, like nicotine gum, are used to cure an unhealthy
The Government And The Central Bank
Canada s GDP is increasing and the unemployment is decreasing. And so, a cursory
glance may suggest the country is performing well. However, in order to
understand how successful the Government and the Central Bank s efforts to
ameliorate the economic situation have been we need to look beyond the narrow
scope of two years set out by the essay title. As the world is more global now than
before and Canada s economy is export based we have to wider our looks outside of
Canada to understand whether their actions are reasonable made. Therefor I will in
this essay compare Canada with other countries which also have large natural
resource reserves, such as Russia and Norway. To understand the acts of the Canadian

from recent years shows that the value of natural resource exports accounts for
more than half of Canada s merchandise exports. The United States, China and The
United Kingdom are Canada s most important trade partners and where more than
80% of the merchandised exports are destined (International.gc.ca, 2015)
However, unlike other nations with large natural resource reserves Canada s
economy is not solely dependent on natural resources. According to the

Incident Command System Research Paper
Incident Command System and Social Media It s the one thing people feel like they

we can share pictures, videos, or just simple messages to each other. You must give
appreciation towards prior inventions like the computer, cellphone, and television
because they were what gave birth to social media. Social media has continued to
grow in the past decade and people and organizations must adapt to this new trend of

site also allowed users to send messages and post information on a bulletin. The
bulletin would help the users find common interest with each other. Six Degrees
unfortunately only lasted for five years until the company was bought out. They
accomplished a lot in the short time frame they were active by having around
3,000,000 users registered on the site. Six Degrees also laid out the framework for

Gennady Golovkin Research Paper
After months of speculation and media hype, we re merely a day away from Kell
Brook squaring up to decorated champion Gennady Golovkin at The O2 Arena in
London. Boxing fans around the world can t wait to feast their eyes on what is set to

Brook, currently the IBF welterweight champion, carries an impressive unbeaten
record (36 0) after 36 fights, winning 25 of them by knockout. Despite the stellar
record he boasts, Brook will go into the fight as the underdog, seeking to pull off the

Ring Magazine rates him as the No. 1 contender in the middleweight division (as of
Aug. 22), and it s difficult to argue with the accolade.
GGG has been his usual quiet self during the build up to his 17th world title defense,
but he has carried himself in a confident, focused manner. It s clear there s a mutual
respect between the two fighters, with Golovkin looking forward to fighting in front
of an English crowd.
What do we know about this fight so far? We know that Golovkin has the power to
knock people out, having decorated middleweight walls with the scalps of his
previous 32 knockouts. But does that mean Brook doesn t have the same power as
Golovkin? Brook s 25 knockouts tell a different story, but he has never knocked out
and opponent at 160 pounds.
With a wider range of punches and combos that have proven successful for him in
the past, Brook supporters believe he s the better technical boxer. He also has hand
speed and head movement to go with his punches, something he ll definitely need if
he want to avoid Golovkin s ferocious
How Is Boxer An Admirable Character
What if everything you ve ever known, suddenly changed in the blink of an eye?
Well, the strongest and one of the most important characters doesn t know that the
farm isn t doing well. One of the most admirable character that everyone looked up
to, doesn t know enough to even think that bad things are happening on the farm
and he doesn t believe anyone when they tell him their suspicions about it. If he
would just simply realize that the leader is bad and that nothing has changed after
the revolution, then he could have possibly saved the farm from Napoleon. This is
supposed to show you what kind of personality Boxer has and what he did to help
the farm succeed. Boxer was a very important characterto the book, mostly because
he did a huge amount of the work on the farm and he always had his mind set on
working harder. He never turned his back on Napoleon because he always told
himself that Napoleon was always right and he refused to believe anything else. All
of the other animals looked up to Boxer throughout the book and it showed the most
when he fell and got injured. When Boxer started getting older and weaker, he kept
pushing himself to the max because he was so dedicated to Napoleon and improving
the farm. The other animals told him that he should take rests once in... Show more

Osama Bin Laden Essay
During the 1990s, Osama bin Laden, a fundamentalist militant and leader of Al
Qaeda, issued several fatwas (legal edicts) opposed to the stationing of US troops in
Saudi Arabia. By middle of 1996, Al Qaeda was barely functioning as a terrorist
organization, and had only thirty members. Facing irrelevance and anxious that he
was losing his leadership role over Islamist militants worldwide, bin Laden,
announced a blessed jihad to oppose the United Statesand its Western allies on
August 23, 1996 (Bruce, et al., 2005). As part of this jihad, bin Laden declared war
on the United States, which he intended to recruit new members for Al Qaeda. This
effort failed.

Before the U.S. Embassy attacks in 1998, Taha began distancing himself from

The Chinese Garden At The Huntington Library
The Chinese garden at the Huntington Library was an extravagant garden. The
Chinese garden included water, rocks, plants, architecture, and arts. The Chinese
garden created multiple feelings. The flowers in the garden provided a special
feeling to the season. The water creates a feeling of a forever ongoing life and the
rocks a neutral balance in the surrounding environment. The arts created a feeling
that encourages people to look for the literary, philosophical, and artistic traditions
of China. The arts created an experience of bringing the historical arts to the
people. The empty spaces that were in the garden provided the feeling of
spaciousness and uncluttered calm. The texture of the rocks also created the feeling
of timelessness and dignity. The Chinese garden had straight walkways or
zigzagged pathways. The architecture of the Chinese garden can be felt that it was
man made. The architecture has a lot of colors and is very intricate. The buildings
look very artificial and formal. The landscape in the Chinese garden is more rustic
and has a more natural feeling to it.
The Japanese garden at the Huntington Library created a beloved feeling. The moon
bridge, the koi fill pond, and the Japanese house brought an iconic feature to the
garden. The garden brings inspiration to the people with its unique landscape
traditions, the craftsmanship, horticulture, and rituals. The Japanese house was an
important element to the Japanese garden. The Japanese house has five rooms and
Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)
Over the past two years I have been struggling with a knee problem called
Osteochondritis Dissecans or OCD for short. Osteochondritis dissecans is a
condition where the bone underneath your cartilage dies due to a lack of blood

completely disconnect from the joint. Not only has this taken me out of all my
extracurricular activities such as, hockey and soccer, it has also taken a huge toll
on my academics. Through many physical therapy session, 22 doctors
appointments, 5 different doctors, and three surgeries I have finally gotten to
where I want to be and that does not happen for everyone. However if you work

Prior to this injury I had sports that I enjoyed and more importantly, kept me in

involving a lot of ups and downs which correlates highly with how knee surgery

Birth
My journey begins in a village in Renfrewshire, located in West Central Scotland,
named Elderslie. Born second to my parents; my father, laird of Elderslie, Malcolm

January 17th 1296, Scotland was conquered. The King of England, Edward I,

forcing us to become his prisoners. My anger flared against the English, I needed to

The cilia s purpose is to filter out dust and other particles that flow through the nose. However, the Cilia gets clogged with cigarette toxins methane, carbon dioxide, and arsenic and this causes their functions to slow down for hours at a time, making their system much less efficient, as well as the mucous membranes to secrete excessive amounts of mucous, causing symptoms of a cold. The toxins build up a layer of mucus and tar which the cilia are unable to breakdown. Tissues within the mucous membranes increase, so more clogging occurs from smoking. This excess mucous can fester an infection and this overwhelms the
  • 3. Christian Sayings Within Christian circles, there are many different expressions and phrases that have become commonplace. Among those heavily used sayings is the notion that Christians are to be in the world but not of the world. This phrase, that is often recited as if it were a direct quote from scripture, is used as a mantra by many Christians to separated themselves from the world. So what does it actually mean for a follower of Christ to be in the world but not of it, and does the phrase s common application aid the advancement of the gospel? Daniel Chinn, assistant professor of biblical and theological studies, said Christians started using the phrase as an interpretation of a bible passage and though the phrase is often treated as scripture it is not in the bible verbatim. Though the phrase In the world but not of the world has truth that can be unpacked from it, Chinn said the implication of how Christians commonly use the phrase is flawed because often it is used to justify separation of themselves from their culture, which is not what scripture is calling them to do. Some Christians hold a prospective that the culture is bad, Chinn said, and many separate themselves from the culture by having all things Christian in their

What I understood from these ways is if we want to manage our time well, we have to look for efficacy and efficiencies. Efficacy: to perform work properly and reach the desired result. Efficiency: the performance of work in the right way and getting to the desired result, but with minimal effort, time and cost. we need to profit and Exploit marginal times, times between commitments and actions (such as: the use of the car, waiting at the doctor, travel, waiting for meals, expected visitors). We must know How we spend time, then decompose and identify times marginal, and develop a plan of operation to benefit them as much as possible. I believe Paper was the greatest invention of all Chinese inventions, even greater than gunpowder. Chinese legend tells that the new invention of paper was presented to the Emperor in the year 105 AD by Cai Lun (Franklin Institute). In 105 AD, Han Emperor Ho Ti s chief eunuch T sai Lun tried with a wide variety of materials and worked with the fiber of plants until each filament was completely separate. The individual fibers were mixed with water in a large vat. Next, a screen was submerged in the vat and lifted up through the water, catching the fibers on its surface. When dried, this thin layer of intertwined fiber became what today we call paper. T sai Lun s thin, yet flexible and strong paper with its fine, smooth surface was known as T sai Ko Shi, meaning: quot;Distinguished T sai s Paper quot; and he became revered as the saint of papermaking. It wasn t until the third century when the secret art of papermaking began to get out of China, first to Vietnam and then Tibet. Franklin Roosevelt Indicated that Expenses are the levy which we pay for the benefits of enrolment in a sorted out society . Since the last two decades hypothetical writing on tariff has prospered, yet charge hypothesis keeps on suffering from critical restrictions. Maybe the most genuine inadequacy is a dichotomy in suppositions on what propels open and private choices. (Walter Hettich And Stanley L. Winer, p. 701). Open chiefs are expected in a significant part of the assessment writing to pick and execute strategies as per general social criteria, for example, productivity and value. The clashing treatment of private and open decisions confines the capacity of financial specialists to comprehend the operation of real duty frameworks and to clarify why they have the qualities and structure that we usually watch. (Walter Hettich And Stanley L. Winer, p. 701). Charge structure is every now and again confusing and are furthermore to a great degree questionable. However including a few sections or fragments, underneath untruths a fundamental structure. In an evaluation system obligation base, rates and acquisitions like deductions and special cases are the key parts. (Walter Hettich And Stanley L. Winer, p. 701). • 13. The Call For A Revised Study On Secession The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in Walter L. Buenger s article, Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience. Buenger argues there exists an extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these studies centers on individual states actions, no one has attempted to synthesize these works and write a history of secession for the entire South. He asserts that Texascould serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of secession for the entire South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously mentioned above study on Upper and Lower South, by outlining the attributes (culture, economic, and political ideologies) of those found in Texascompared to the attributes found in the Upper and Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description of the four political factions found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower South culture and ideology of defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the nation centers on protecting the rights and property of the individuals. Moderate secessionists shared the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the slaveholding and cotton growing culture. These moderates also included some wheat growers from the Upper South and Germans living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported secession. Moderate unionists shared

In Mulvey s essay, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , she unmasks the power of patriarchy in Hollywood cinema and explains that the unconscious of our dominantly patriarchal society has largely structured film (Manlove 83). While Mulvey s essay focuses on the male gaze, she also explains how women are passive and relegated to the status of objects and therefore female viewers can only experience a narrative secondarily, by their identification with the male (Mulvey 19). This theory is applicable to Fifty Shades of Grey as the male gaze, and in turn the female gaze, are largely responsible for the film s popularity because whether consciously or unconsciously, both men and women associate with the concept of domination over

The common ambition of activists of every kind has always been to represent the needs and injustices of the marginalized communities in question, and in doing so, to bring about change. Margaret Mead, a cultural anthropologist, and an outspoken feminist once said, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it s the only thing that ever has. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much of the incentive to become an activist is to be a part of a movement; an integral cog in the changing of history. One indisputable benefit of social media is its ability to effectively inform millions of people at once; this is infinitely powerful. The interactive format of social networking invites individuals to educate themselves on an issue and then to contribute to it, all in under ten minutes. Despite its efficiency, the detriment of this system is that it perpetuates the idea that the signing of a change.org petition is all it takes to make a difference. Grassroots activism and petitioning, while absolutely fundamental parts of the pursuit of social justice are often only the inciting steps in the lengthy and usually complicated process of creating lasting change. In 2014, in the wake of the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice, to name just a few, an international movement protesting police brutality began with the hashtag #blacklivesmatter. The issue of racially induced police brutality became a relevant topic of debate in the presidential election that followed, and protests took place worldwide. This movement is winning a major battle in the war against racism and much of this success was owed to its sensational presence on social media. The Black Lives Matter movement is an example of social networking being an invaluable tool in spreading

Around the 1830s 1840s, immigrants started coming to the United States and organized sweatshops in tenement buildings. Today sweatshops are often found in slow, developing countries, but many are found around the world. Majority of the workers are commonly women and children, who are usually uneducated. My concern isn t that there are too many sweatshops, but that there are too few (Stossel, 586). This theory holds that developing countries improve their condition by charging less but do the same work. Also developed countries will be better off, because their workers can shift to jobs that they can do better at (561). These are the jobs that some economists say usually show a certain level of education and training that can be difficult to obtain in the developing world (579). Consequently, developing countries get factories that provide multiple jobs that they would not otherwise; therefore improving the technology and capital. With this situation occurring, developing countries try to keep low constant wages, because sweatshops tend to just get moved on to another location that is more willing, for fear of losing investments and boosting gross domestic product (GDP). This only means average wages will increase at a steady rate around the world; a nation gets left behind if it demands wages are higher than the current market price asked for (Ross, 566). When asked about the working condition in sweatshops, business advocates say that even though wages and work conditions may look mediocre by the standard developed nations,

In comparing the character Mr. Gradgrind in Hard Times, to the 5 basis of friendship written in the Nicomachean Ethics, Mr. Gradgrind cannot be a friend to others because he does not use emotion but rather factual evidence in his actions toward his children. The novel confirms Aristotle s view of friendship with Mr. Gradgrind, proving that the standards need to be set up in order to have a proper friendship and relationship with others. The 5 basis set up in Aristotle s Ethics are explained on page 252 and are as followed; A person who wished for and does what is good or what appears to him to be good for his friends sake, a person who wished for the existence and life of his friend for a friends sake, a person who spends his time in our company, whose desires are the same as ours, and a person who shared sorrow and joy with his friend. An overall message of one must do well for others in order to be a proper friend 1 can be understood with the five basis of friendship to determine if a person is an ideal friend. In Chapter

Pericles is showing that citizens will be equal no matter what so you should not be afraid to participate because the law will treat you equally. Once again Pericles demonstrates the idea of citizenship when he said, power is in the hands not of a minority but of the whole of the people. Once more, Pericles shows that everyone has a right to be a part of democracy and encourages you to be a part of. Others would say that because not everyone had the same rights, the rule of Pericles was not a Golden Age, however
