Essay On Food Crisis
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Food Crisis" poses a multifaceted challenge that demands a
delicate balance between presenting the grim realities of global food insecurity and offering
potential solutions. This subject requires an in-depth understanding of diverse issues ranging
from agricultural practices and climate change to socioeconomic factors influencing access to
food resources.
To commence such an essay, one must delve into extensive research to comprehend the
complexities of food crisis at both the local and global levels. Navigating through a plethora of
statistical data, scholarly articles, and reports becomes imperative to present a well-informed and
credible narrative. Analyzing the interconnected nature of factors contributing to food scarcity,
such as climate variations, geopolitical conflicts, and economic disparities, adds an additional
layer of intricacy to the writing process.
Furthermore, addressing the humanitarian aspect of the crisis necessitates a careful exploration
of the consequences on vulnerable populations, including hunger, malnutrition, and societal
upheavals. Balancing the presentation of facts with a compassionate tone is pivotal to engage
readers emotionally and instigate a sense of urgency.
The essay should not merely serve as a platform for elucidating the issues but also as a forum
for proposing viable solutions. This requires a synthesis of diverse perspectives and a nuanced
understanding of policy implications, technological innovations, and international cooperation in
the realm of food security. Striking a harmonious chord between highlighting the severity of the
crisis and inspiring hope through potential avenues for amelioration is a delicate task that
demands finesse.
In conclusion, constructing an essay on the "Food Crisis" entails a formidable journey through
intricate layers of information, demanding not only meticulous research but also a keen
understanding of the multifaceted issues at play. The writer must navigate through the
complexities of global agriculture, climate dynamics, socioeconomic disparities, and
humanitarian implications with the goal of enlightening readers while inspiring a call to action.
Such an endeavor requires a blend of empathy, analytical prowess, and effective communication
to drive home the gravity of the situation and spur collective efforts towards a sustainable

The Effect Of Aggregate Demand On The Economy
As supported by the minutes released from the November meeting of the Federal
Open market Committee, the economy continues to strengthen and looks as though it
will remain healthy through the foreseeable future. The economy has returned to
normalcy in terms of Consumer Price since the hurricanes hit Florida and Texas, as
evidenced by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers: Gasoline(all
types) which is portrayed in the graph below. The FOMC has also reported that
inflationis projected to remain below the two percent for at least the next two
quarters. The the inflation rate is expected to increase to two percent by the medium
term which will stabilize it at the Fed s target goal. This growth in the inflation rate is
demonstrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concern with the current slow growth of the Fed Funds Rate is that there is a
similar pattern as there was prior to the decline in 2008, where inflation tanked and
the Fed Funds Rate, which was high at 4.24% was not enough to halt the inflation
drop. The similar pattern in inflation and the Fed Funds Rate can be seen in the two
graphs below. If the Federal Open Market Committee does not increase the rate of
the growing Fed Funds Rate within the next few quarters the likeliness of another
recession increases. Although it would not be as extensively damaging as the
recession in 2008, a recession would be nonetheless detrimental to the economy, as
we would be set back in all the economical progress that has been made in the past
10 years, as shown in the graphs above. Currently, the Federal Reserve has set the rate
to rest at a target range of 1 to 1 1/4 percent. The Federal Open Market Committee
acknowledged in their November meeting that inflation has more headway to make
until it is at the two percent mark they have set as a long term target. This situation
contains both positive and negative elements. A low inflation rate benefits consumer
confidence, because consumers are easily able to manage the gradual inflation and
do not see change reflected in day to day consumption since inflation rises slowly.
However, with a low Federal Funds Rate, and the potential for inflation to decline for

Bones Essay
In the past decade, network television has been bombarded by crime shows
attempting to make their mark on viewers. All of these programs CSI, Lie to Me,
Numb3rs, Law Order have the same general set up of a male lead with a hot head
who is complemented by his team of FBI agents. As a loyal viewer and fan of Bones,
I often wonder what makes it stay afloat with so many shows out there like it.
Could it be that Bones isn t like any of the other crime shows? Through its crimes
and unsolved murders, Bones helps its viewers make sense of the disastrous world
around them. The world we live in is full of danger and unsolved crime, but after
watching Dr. Brennan, her team of squints and Agent Booth solve even the most
bizarre murders, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, Nguyen also says that while the actors portray their roles very well, and it
is clear that the slight chemistry between Deschanel [Dr. Brennan] and Boreanaz
[Agent Booth] doesn t seem to be headed for any successful route, which he
obviously thinks is an old, worn out scenario. The chemistry between them is
undeniable, and as we have seen in the most recent season, Booth has accepted his
feelings for Brennan and, in the early episodes of season five, has been trying to
tell her how he feels. In the real world, many crimes remain unsolved, but in Bones
every murder is solved and the killer is brought to justice. As Letizia, the author of a
TV review entitled Bones , asserts, fans root not just for crimes to be solved, but for
[Booth and Brennan], working in tandem, to solve them. The viewer begins to trust
these two characters and think of them as real people they have let into their lives.
Another difference, pointed out by Letizia, that Bones offers is
Where an episode of CSI leaves one with the feeling that evil exists no matter what
we do about it, Bones makes the case that there is also good. Granted, truly happy
endings are rare when it comes to murder investigations, but the victims depicted in
Bones often find some sort of redemption at the end even if it simply means their
families learn what really happened to them.

Zora Neale Hurston s Legacy
Zora Neale Hurston left a legacy and here are a couple reasons why. She left a
legacy because she was a person who wanted women to have a better life in
America because she had to fight for what she believe in and that women will fight
for what they believe in and not let people say something that will take away from
what they believe in. Another reason that Zora Hurston left a legacy by telling
women that they can do anything if they believe in their self . She wanted to make
sure that women had a good life that they will have the changeset to make a big
difference in women history. Women wanted to have some of the right to do what
the Men s right are and Zora Hurston wanted the something . She did these thing
because she wanted women to know that if she can make a big change that they

The Lesson By Toni Cade Bambara Summary
Toni Cade Bambara has quite a unique style of writing. She does not have the
typical proper style as other authors do, which shows drastically in her short story
The Lesson. Bambara was born in New York and grew up in Harlem which explains
her high influence of writing about African American lifestyles. In The Lesson she
writes about a povertystricken African family who meet a rich woman that moves
into their neighborhood to teach the children. Bambara s unique voice comes to life
in this short story when she uses informal words and phrases, has a relaxed and
informal tone, and incorporates irony into her story. Using all of these components
make for an outstanding story and makes it more realistic and somewhat more
relatable. Unlike many authors, Bambara gets into the... Show more content on

For example the main character says, And she was black as hell, cept for her
feet...and she was planning these boring ass things for us to do... (Bambara 2000).
Many readers who grew up in isolated communities may think of these words as
offensive or inappropriate, however, to the rest of the world these are common words
and enhance the story at large. The use of curse words such as ass, bitch, hell, shit,
and goddamn open the eyes of the reader to see life in the slums. These are mere
children, yet cursing is common for them because of the lifestyle they live. In the
slums the language they use is not always the most formal. They use many forms
of slang and do not talk as the Rich white people do . Bambara makes this story
much more believable and relatable when she writes in the same language that
residence from the slums speak. Informal language that is used by the children are

Essay On Princess Diana
Princess Diana was a very devoted woman, she always saw the good in everyone
and always tried to help anyone in need, anyway she could. Lady Diana Spencer

Diana even got to help design her own wedding dress with a little known design
team David and Elizabeth Emanuel. The whole process took about 3 months to
complete. She ended up having a 25 foot train and it was covered in about 10,000
pearls. Her dress was so big that she could barely even get in the car to go to her
own wedding. The cramped ride caused her to have wrinkles all over the dress. Her
veil actually was longer than her train. When making the weil they used about 153
yards of tulle. The shoes she wore took longer to make than her dress. Te shoes took
about 6 months to make and included 542 sequins and 132 pearls in a heart shaped
design.

Taking a Look at White Collar Crimes
In this research paper that you are about to read you will learn something s about
white collar. You will be learning who coined the term, what it is, and you will
also be learning who does it. The term white collar is define as of or relating to the
work done or those who work in an office or other professional environment. It was
coined by the late great Edwin Sutherland in 1941. Sutherland said white collar is a
crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course
of his occupation (siegel 337). Let me just give you some examples of a white
collar crime, promulgating or misleading advertisements, illegal exploitation of
employees, putting bad labels on goods, violating of measures statues etc. For
many judges and jurors, what goes on in an executive suite may just as well be
happening in mars, says University of Illinois law professor Larry Ribstein
(ribstein prosecutorial advantages pg. 2). Ribstein is right what goes on in an
executive office most of the time doesn t come out most of the time because most
of the corporate executives are selfish greedy and irresponsible. CEO s make sure
their covered they are the most selfish one s/smart ones cause they don t get fired
most of the time because they cover themselves. Signs that banks were either lying

Economic Integration
An economic integration, established on global, continental or regional level, is not a
newborn phenomenon. Ever since the voyages of Marco Polo in 1260, (Latham,
1958) the collaboration and integration of world economies through trade, movements
of factors of production and transmission of economically effective knowledge and
technology has been continuously increasing. (Masson, 2000) The overall process of
globalisation and economic integration has been in most cases globally beneficial,
but alongside winners it had also created losers, and the progression of economic
integration has neither always advanced smoothly nor has it been advantageous to all
whom it had affected. The ideas and their implementation leading towards greater...

(Dearden McDonald, 2005) Suranovic emphasizes the importance of effectiveness of
communication between all integrated countries and also focuses his attention on the
coordination of their trade, fiscal and monetary policies. (Suranovic, 1998)
Tinbergen in his International Economic Integration recognized two integrational
dimensions and identified them as negative and positive. Negative integration,
generally less complicated to reach than the positive, eradicates the measures used by
states to obstruct the free flow of economic resources between integrated countries,
while the positive integration involves alteration of already existing economic and
political instruments and permits international markets to operate more effectively.
(Tinbergen, 1965) Example of implementation of the negative dimension could be
found in the early stages of the European Union, which, by employing the positive
approach, reached the higher levels of the economic integration. (Banchoff Smith,
1999) It is very seldom that countries involved in the process of integration actually
follow a certain pattern, (Holden, 2003) however, there are several formally
recognisable phases of
Beach Descriptive Essay
The beach is known for being a place to relax; the beach I went to was a run of the
mill beach, tan sand with rocks next to an aqua sea, I was there with my Mother
and family on a cloudless day in summer 2009.Nevertheless we were on the beach,
it was filled with umbrellas of all colors, filling the beach like a canvas with
hundreds of strokes on it. Starting our trip started with setting up our blanket and
umbrella so we could sit down to relax at the start, but we all wanted to head out
and swim so I put on my yellow goggles and arm floaters with dolphins on them,
heading into the water which was reasonably warm in 90 degree weather . We
were fairly deep into the water, the goggles and arm floaters were making sure I
kept above the water as well as not inhaling any, it was fun splashing my family or
going underwater to test how far we could see which was four inches. Out of
nowhere, my Mother had screeched Just stand sideways, you ll be fine! ,abruptly, I
saw it towering over us, a shadow coming towards us, I started to run away, or at
least make an attempt to. Fear consumes me ,my only thoughts were heading to shore
where I would be safe from the wave, I barely went half a foot away before it
grabbed me. It grabbed on, dragged me to the middle where I couldn t move up to
inhale air or push myself off the bottom to jump, I was trapped under the water,
waves above taunting knowing I was trapped. Water was running past , I started to
feel a strong tug on my head, before I could realize what was going on, my goggles
were dashing away with the water, but I could still open my eyes under the water
without the sting of saline water in my eyes. Everything was a mushy brown color,
all the sandstarted to be pulled up, mixing with the water, everything in front of and
below me was turbid, but when I look up to see the surface of the water, it was
shining, crystal clear even. For a bit wondered if I was gazing at Heaven and the wave
was my ride to heaven, but the pain snapped me back to reality, black spots were
flooding my vision while pain was wrapped around my chest. It had wrapped around
me, began to trail down to my toes and rise to my head, it hurt so much, I started to
feel tired,
Dental Implants Persuasive Speech
Our teeth are a very important part of our body and there are many different things
that can go wrong with them. There are a lot of ways that teeth can become chipped
or broken to where they fall out. When someone you lose a tooth or a tooth in your
mouth needs to be replaced, you have many different options such as a bridge or
dentures.
Another option you have, that many people choose, is dental implants. This is one of
the best options when it comes to needing a replacement for your teeth or tooth.
There are many advantages to getting these implants. However, before we get into
ways that you will benefit from getting this procedure done, you need to know what
these implants really are and different ways they will help you.

You don t want to get dental implants before you know the important facts.
What You Need to Know
#1: You Will Pay More For Implants Than Other Tooth Solutions. This is one of the
main reasons that people choose to not get dental implants. They can cost you a
pretty penny! Most dental offices do not allow insurance to cover dental implants.
Most of the time, to have a dental implant, you will pay around $2,000 for one tooth.
That doesn t include the cost of a crown though, which could end up running you
another $1,000.
#2: Is the Cost Worth It? Many people say yes! It is worth it. These implants are
better to get than dentures and bridges.
Dentures give many people problems due to them not fitting in the mouth correctly
and some have a hard time getting them to in their mouths. Not to mention they can
cause you to taste things a lot differently.
Having a bridge put in your teeth can cause the two teeth that are being adjoined to
decay faster and become much weaker. This can be very dangerous for those two
teeth and it can be a waste of time and
A True War Story in How to Tell a True War Story by Tim
O’...
Have you ever been hesitant to share a true story because you suspected that it
would appear as a fabricated anecdote to your audience? Well, most of the time we
add bunch of things or change a true story to make it sound genuine to our audience.
We live in a judgmental and complex world where lying has become a part of our
daily lives. Because of this habit, it is hard to differentiate the truthfrom a fabricated
lie. Since I was a child, my parents always talked about battle of Adwa and many
events that took place centuries ago. It is always amusing to listen to those stories
because it is about heroic act that most of the kings of Ethiopia accomplished.
Although I heard different versions of these stories, I always tend to believe my
parents version. The reason is not simply the credibility of my parents , but the way
it was presented. According to the short story, How to Tell a True War Story by Tim
O Brien, a true war story is hard to accept as true because some of the most
agonizing parts are true, while some of the natural parts are not. Tim O Brien s
narrative shows that a storyteller has the power to shape listeners views. We can
change our perception because of the story teller, and neglect the fact that we are
avoiding the actuality. Therefore by listening to different versions of a story, it will
actually help the reader find greater truth of the story.
The author starts out by saying, This is true and as a writer he utilizes this statement

States should consider their options in order to fight legalizing of marijuana in their

encourages the state to look beyond dollars earned and to ensure the state understands
some of the impacts associated such as higher accidents and fatalities, increased

The Climate of Arrakis in Dune by Frank Herbert Essay
The climate of a planet plays a significant role in determining how life presumes. In
fact, a hot climate makes water so scarce, that saliva is valuable. In the novel Dune,
Frank Herbert makes the climate of Arrakis so significant, that dead bodies are seen
as a water source. The climate on the planet of Arrakismakes water less significant
than blood, because water cannot exist without blood. Arrakis s climate is also a
plus, because the warriors that live there are much more adapted to it than anyone
who was to invade to conquer. The planet of Arrakis is seen as a gold mine for

and given the fact that the climate provides a tough environment, the worms can be
connected to the climate, because if the climate was not so cruel, and hot, then
more precipitation would occur on the planet, and water is poisonous to the worm.
Worms would cause drastic change to society if they were to disappear, because
the worm s feed on Sand Plankton, and sand plankton eat the mГ©lange in the

plankton grows, and become little makers, because they make mГ©lange. This
leads to how important the sandworms really are. The Fremen are dependent on the
worm, because of the spice that the little makers make. And the Fremen are
dependent on the spice, or they will die. So, if the climate were to pose a death

precipitation occurs, and the worms, and little makers would start to die. This would

Essay on Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih
Written by Tayeb Salih, the novel Season of Migration to the North as described by
The Observer is an Arabian Nights in reverse, enclosing a pithy moral about
international misconceptions and delusions. The novel is set both in England and the
Sudan, showing the stark social differences within these two locations. In this essay, I
will evaluate the reasons supporting and opposing Mahjoub s statement as defined in
Season of Migration to the North .
In the first line of the novel (and once more later in the book: dear sirs page 62), the
narrator introduces the reader to a male dominated world by suggesting his audience

I imagined Hosna Bint Mahmoud...being the same woman...wide open thighs. And I

Both quotes show the reader how the narrator viewed women as meagre creatures.
With the power of thought, the narrator could have believed that Hosna Bint

Essay on Shrek s Message
Shrek s Message
In Shrek the roles of traditional fairy tale characters are switched. Shrek is the hero
while Lord Farquaad is the evil character. Unlike traditional fairy tales like Jack and
the Beanstalk where the Giant is evil Jack is good. Different presentational devices
are used to alter the view of the traditional fairy tale.
The beginning of Shrek starts off with the traditional opening Once upon a time...
and is then cut off when Shrek says What a load of... This is also used to an
advantage and modern rap music is played, unlike normal classic music. The next
scenes show Shrek bathing and doing the normal necessities as a human would such

When Shrek is having his quiet meal three blind mice who begin to annoy Shrek.
Shrek soon finds out that the Fairy tale creatures have been forced on to his swamp
by Lord Farquaad, this leads Donkey and Shrek to set off for Duloc. This shows that
Shrek likes his privacy and it shows that he has a heroic side as well, even though it
was not intentional.
When Shrek and Donkey arrive at Duloc they find that the town is deserted and
they soon embark upon a battle royal to rescue the Princess. Shrek becomes the
target and says Can t we settle this over a pint? This suggests that Shrek is not
really a violent character and only uses fighting as a last resort. Shrek agrees to
Lord Farquaad, to go on the quest to save the Princess in exchange for his swamp

of that ogre stuff, and suggests that Shrek isn t remotely scary. In response to this
Shrek says So you want me to decapitate an entire village cut open their spleens...
Donkey is put back by this idea and Shrek reveals that there is more to ogres than it

Shrek is seen by the other characters, as unconventional. This is apparent when Shrek

‘the Poems ‘Remember’,

The poems Remember , Piano and Poem at Thirty nine all explore melancholy
emotions. How far do you agree with this statement? Poem at Thirty nine and
Piano explore melancholy emotions while Remember does not in my opinion.
The reasons I do no completely agree is because the three poems all have hidden
feelings and meanings. Poem at Thirty nine shows melancholy emotions because it
presents the loss of the persona s father and Piano portrays how D.H. Lawrence
misses his childhood. However Remember is not a sad poem but it might seem so
because it is explaining Rossetti s feelings towards death. Poem at Thirty nine is a
free verse structured poem by Alice Walker. There is sadness in the poem and it is

Apart from that, the use of words after the turn, such as do not grieve , forget and
smile also indicate there is an opposite feeling. This is probably because at the turn,
Rossetti changes her feeling completely and demands everyone to forget her and
be happy. The poem Piano by D.H. Lawrence is a sad poem. In my opinion, the
poem is tragic because the persona misses his childhood. It could show a desire for
D.H. Lawrence to return to his childhood and home. I weep like a child for the past
would suggest longing for the past. The persona also feels the lost the comfort for
home, the phrases to the old Sunday evenings at home and cosy parlor suggest the
persona s feeling for home. This could lead to D.H. Lawrence not able to return to
his home country suggesting he might be viewed as a traitor in World War I.
There are some words that resembles the sound of the piano, possibly because the
poem is called Piano . The examples are: boom of tingling strings and piano
appassionato . They were effective because it reflects the title of the poem. It suggest
the persona longed for his childhood which D.H. Lawrence use to over his fear of
isolation. The line boom of tingling string was especially effective, because boom and
tingling strings sound completely opposite and they form a contrast (With boom
sounding loud and noisy and tingling strings sounding soft and

Milton Friedman in his long and distinguished career made significant contribution,
in the economic analysis, including methods, key areas of money, consumption,

In essays in positive economics, Friedman used instead of assuming as experimental

crucial for the understanding of his amount of empirical work, especially in the

unemployment is only a temporary phenomenon, the first. In addition, he believes
that, in the long run, there is no such trade off. Friedman correlation analysis on
inflation and unemployment is his pioneering work in international economics. In
a 1950 paper, Freedman is an advocate of free floating exchange rate. This article
written in a Bretton Woods Agreement, and the subsequent creation of the
International Monetary Fund and its fixed exchange rate, the World Bank, is the
prevailing wisdom. Freedman s analysis of how to exercise, a flexible exchange

Discrimination In Female Athletes
Beginning of the 20th century, the feminist movement has made massive steps to
improve the position of female athletes. Prior to the movement s accomplishments,
female athletes had to play in much worse facilities, under altered rules, and with
harsher dress codes than male athletes. More females than ever before are partaking
in an assorted range of sports. The problem with this is, that female athletes are
dealing with society often viewing them as non feminine. Many agree that females
should take up more feminine sports such as volleyball, gymnastics, softball and so
on. In my paper, I m going to explain how society has typically neglected and
discriminates towards female athletes, stereotyping females as masculine and or

When we think of sports, we think of men going at it during a football or a
basketball game. When female athletes that play in the WNBA or compete in
women s boxing, society labels them as non feminine, which causes stereotypes
against these athletes. The ideas that girls don t sweat , girls don t run , and girls
don t get dirty , began to be challenged and questioned in conjunction with being a
female and being feminine (Wilde 2014). Basically saying women do not belong in
sports and it is a man s world. Women belong in the house doing women things such
as cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids and so on. Female athletes find it hard
to keep their feminine imagine, while playing sports without looking masculine it s
hard to have both worlds. Female athletes they are expected to succeed in their sport
while maintaining hegemony femininity, which can be a difficult balance to establish
and maintain (Paloian 2014). Society wants their female athletes to play the part as a
man in sports, but want them to keep their imagine as feminine

I wonder, with so many jobs advocating the increase the observable diversity, why
the friends and family recruitment plan isn t used with their current employees who

I think it does not happen for a few reasons: Perhaps unintentionally, managers that

The current conflict Conflict as defined in the text is a process in which one party

one characteristic of this strategy is to sway the other party to your side by

Based on the actions taken by Ms. Harding in regards to Dr. Boyer, her style could

Grammatically, there are three interpretations of this sentence. First, there is the
surface meaning that the dress is Sophie s graduation present. There are also two
other readings: Sophie s spinning and admiring of herself in the mirror is a present,

Gallstone Ileus Case Study
The current approaches to surgical management of gallstone ileus are: (1)
enterolithotomy, cholecystectomy and fistula repair (single stage surgery), (2)
enterolithotomy with delayed cholecystectomy and fistula closure (two stage
surgery) and (3) simple enterolithotomy (most reported surgical procedure).
Proponents of the single stage procedure cite recurrence and increased risk of
developing cholangitis or gallbladder carcinoma as reasons for performing
concurrent cholecystectomy and fistula closure [18]. Those who support the two
stage procedure or simple enterolithotomy point to high mortality rates of single
stage procedures and low rates of recurrence and gallbladder carcinoma as reasons...

Moreover, recurrence rates, from retained stones missed during initial surgery or
formation of new gallstones, were the same in both groups. Thus, the one stage

retrospective studies also demonstrate higher mortality rates with the single stage
procedure (Table 1). While these studies suffer from lack of power and statistical
significance due to limited patient pools and the small number of patients who
undergo single stage procedure, statistically significant differences in operative time

makes perfect sense.
When I work on computers, I must operate within a tiny space inside a computer
cache, taking extreme care to avoid damaging the delicate equipment. As a dentist, I
will also perform my duties within the smallest of spaces, using tiny instruments on
fragile surfaces.
Of course, there is a crucial distinction between building a computer and providing

For one month, I shadowed two dentists in general practice, both offering NHS and
private treatment. I learnt to make dentures by working with my orthodontist for two
weeks and spent several days observing activity at Orpington s Oral and
Maxillofacial department. I also attended dental lectures in a Medisix course held at
Nottingham University.
These experiences further convinced me that dentistry is the profession that correctly
combines my mechanical aptitude with my desire for interpersonal interaction.
Observing each dentist, I concluded that a common thread of skills united them all,
regardless of their speciality: each dentist worked well on a team, exercised strong
leadership skills and possessed the ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
Through my volunteer activities, I have learned to connect with people from a
variety of ages and social backgrounds. Volunteering at a primary school, I used a
soothing tone and simple vocabulary to put children at ease. While working at a
home for disabled adults, I learned to gauge the emotional state of each resident and
tailor my conversational style and content appropriately. For example, I discovered
that thorough explanations often quelled the anxiety of those who appeared nervous

Figurative Language In The Treasure Of Lemon Brown
Ellen Hunnicutt once said . . . figurative language adds pizzazz. It raise work above
the plain, the dull, the ordinary. This quote explains how using figurative language
helps create a more interesting and useful way of expressing a tone of a character
or event.Figurative language is a uses of words, phrases, and sentences to help to
make the characters and story line come more to live in the reader s mind. Some
examples of Figurative languages are similes, metaphors, hyperbole, personification,
onomatopoeia, and many more. Figurative language help the reader see tone and
mood in each of the example of figurative language because the reader can see or
image the event or character in their mind. In a story, poem, or any form of writing,
figurative language is extremely important to a reader because if a sentencedidn t
have figurative language the reader may not find the story or poem interesting or
even find it confusing and difficult to understand. In addition the use of figurative
language is crucial when an author is writing. In the stories The Treasure of Lemon
Brown by Walter Dean Myers and The Pigman, By Paul Zindel, the authors used
Figurative language to develop the tone of their stories so that that the reader can
visualize it in their mind.
In the stories The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers, the author
uses figurative language to help the reader understand the tone of the story. The
figurative language used in this sentence is personification to show how the
setting. In this event A boy named Grey Ridley was walking down a street and saw
the leafs blowing, Gusts of wind made bits of paper dance between the papers cars
. In other words this shows us that this street may be dirty, this may not be a good
environment, and how bits of paper dancing around is a result of wind so it must
be a cold fall weather. In addition later in the story Walter uses personification again
to descriptive the mood. Grey and Lemon Brown are in a abandoned house and
both of them hear a car pass by, A car passed, its tires hissing over the wet street and
it s red tails lights glowing in the darkness. The intention of the author was to help
create the intense, creepy, and spooky mood for the reader. In

What happens when projects and interventions undertaken by international NGOs go
wrong? Although my scholarly source understands most of these organizations do
not seek to do harm, nonetheless harm occurs. This article by global development
believes with a few legal and regulatory frameworks setting out how communities
can hold NGOs to account, and with even less support fro communities to engage in
such a process, there is a significant accountability deficit at the heart of
international NGOs. Here we talk about accountability in regards to how NGOs
answer to donors or to the national governments of countries in which they are
operating. NGOs should account for the money they spend as contracted agents of
donors. And they should, of course, be working within the parameters of national
regulatory frameworks and laws (although the fact that NGOs themselves often sit
on the committees that draw up such regulatory systems is troubling). When
development interventions go wrong, or do not work the way they were intended,
it is often no one s fault, due rather to events beyond any individual or organization
s control. But people s lives are affected, sometimes (as when cholera sweeps
through a refugee camp) with the most tragic of consequences (Global
Development). Systems for recognizing the rights of beneficiaries and the
obligations of agencies do exist. The Sphere Project, for example, sets out in great
detail the minimum standards to be expected in, say, a refugee camp. But there are
few legal frameworks capable of holding NGOs to account, or setting out in detail
exactly when, where and how communities might be able to hold an organization
accountable for an intervention that has gone disastrously wrong (Global
Development). Unless NGOs and humanitarian agencies can be legally challenged
and held to account, such principles and minimum standards do not do enough to

that she was right. It was just a normal day. My mother sister, and I, driving around.
My unclehad called and told us how he had gotten a new pit bullpuppy, and he
invited us over to come see it. We arrive, and this puppy is the cutest pup I ve ever

Nihilism And Naturalism
The religious context of The Sun Also Rises is mostly based off of Naturalism in
some cases it can even be viewed as Nihilism. Naturalism is the belief of a soulless
universe meaning everything that exists is all just physical matter. Based off of
these beliefs there is also no God because there is no need for one. Therefore because
there is no Godthere is no purpose or meaning for your life because when you die
you don t go to heaven or hell you just die. Because in Naturalism God is non
existent you would then have to explain the creation of the universe in some other
way. Most Naturalists primarily believe in the big bangand evolution but in this belief
comes the first contradiction of naturalism. The theory of evolution is in direct
conflict with naturalism. For evolution to work it requires life to continuously
multiply in turn giving your life purpose and contradicting the belief in
naturalism.another flaw in the belief of naturalism is that there is no real thought
or soul. Because of this there would be no need for ethics or morals because if we
have no control over our own thought because they are not real than we cant be
responsible for our own actions. If this is true than we should not be sending
criminals to prisons because they did not truly commit the crimes themselves. A

The Events At The University Of Arkansas At Monticello
Essay
Throughout the last four weeks, I ve attended several events at the University of
Arkansas at Monticello. Some events were more organized than others, but each
event had a different purpose and all of the events was executed well. While in high
school I participated in many on and off school activities; in which taught me a
valuable lesson that I later on used at the events on campus. The activities taught me
good communications skills that I needed during the events. During the events I got
the chance to use my communications skills that I learned by participating in
activities in high school. I got the chance to interact with new people and experience
new things that I never done before. Out of all the events I attended, I believed Rock
the Clock was the most beneficial.
Although I think Rock the Clock was the most beneficial; I attended three more
events other than Rock the Clock. The other events were Cosmic Bowling, Freshman
Orientation Day Two, and the Mud Olympics. Although Rock the Clock was the
most beneficial. Cosmic Bowling was on August 22nd at 7:00pm. Timberlodge
Lanes sponsored the event and did a splendid job hosting the event and publicizing
the event. The event was publicized in brochures, letters, and flyers. On every wall I
walked by; I would see something promoting the event. Constantly seeing a reminder
of the event made me not forget about the event; and actually attend it. My roommate
and I left around 7:45; once we got there it was packed. We actually
Knee Flexion
Preliminary Phase (knee flexion) Mechanical purpose: At this phase power and
balance are needed to make the free throw a success. While the player is getting
into the position they are mentally preparing for the throw. For this the player has
placed their feet shoulder length apart with their right foot a little bit in front of the
left on the line. Doing this should have the arch of the right foot aligned with the
toe of the left foot. This will allow the player better balance while flexing at the
knees and chest to be a center of gravity to have a greater support and is called the
staggered stance . Biomechanical factors: In the preliminary phase kneeand chest

The knees, trunk and wrist will be fully extended puting all the power into the shot.
It has been said that a full range of elbow movement is related to greater success in
the free throw. Biomechanical factors: In this phase the feet are in plantar flexion
that have the feet lifted off the ground. The knees and abdomen muscle are fully
extended during this too. The triceps are contracting with the forearm extensors.
The hand is in a supinated position enabling the control of the ball. The shoulder is
flexed in a vertical position, the forearm is in pronation while the fingers are
pointing a little outside. The force is contributed to the leading wrist that extends
until the release of the ball. Biomechanical principles:This is where every body part
has extended towards the hoop. The ball is released from the fingertips launching
into the air making its way for the score. Critical features: All the parts of the body

Pandemic
Have you ever been in a pandemic? I think the world would end as a pandemic. A
pandemic is a very dangerous situation for people to live in noone should ever want
to get caught up in a pandemic it is very scary and serious because no one knows
who got the disease or know one know the symptoms, how long the pandemic is
going to last, if you are going to live or die it s one of the worst feelings in the world.
A pandemic has a major effect on the on our planet earth. It is a deadly disease that
spreads from person to person and sometimes a pandemic can last up to weeks or
even months. A pandemic can kill a lot of people and noone will know what the
disease is and there is no known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the virus is new, the human population has little to no immunity against it.
The virus spreads quickly from person to person worldwide. The United States is
not currently experiencing a flu pandemic. If a pandemic occurs, the federal
government will work to identify the cause and create a vaccine. Flu.gov will
provide updates on the steps the federal government is taking to address the
pandemic. Death rates may be high. Four factors largely that determine the death
toll: The number of people who become infected, the strength of the virus, the
underlying characteristics and vulnerability of affected population, the
effectiveness of preventive measures. What you need in order to be able to survive
a pandemic you would really only need to be around your personal family that you
live with everyday but sometimes you don t even need to be around your family,
because a pandemic is very dangerous and sometimes you wouldn t even know who
has the disease or not because there are so many people in this world and
sometimes a disease don t have symptoms until weeks or even months later.Water,
water, and more water (consider a quality drinking filter and water storage , food
storage for all members living in the household (3 months minimum), 5 gallons of
bleach per person of the household to sanitize everything, 4 boxes of examine
gloves (different sizes for every member of the household), quality n95 masks,
antibacterial soap or hand wipes for meticulous hand washing , 100 roll of clear 4
mil plastic and duct tape for setting up an isolation room, hepa filters enough for
whole house air filtration, etc. You would need a lot of food stored because if you
don t have food you might die because you never know how long a pandemic will
be ,you never know sometimes something might go wrong with the water in you
house or the pipe you should try to stay clean as possible so pile up as many cleaning
supplies as you
Superpowers Essay
Teleportation Superpowers are fictional superhuman abilities that originated in
comic books. If humans had superpowers in real life think there would be a huge
moral debate in we would have to use these superpowers. Would we use them to
help society or would we use them for personal gain. Superpowers are extremely
powerful and humans would need to use them with responsibility. Have you ever
wished you could travel to anywhere in the world for free or receive whatever you
want to you without moving from your house? With the power of teleportationyou

the same time I would mess around with people who would mess with me but I
would try and keep my powerful teleportation super powers secret. If people
discovered that I could teleport wherever I wanted to or that I can teleport stuff and
people wherever I want to they would act differently against me. Governments from
around the big wide world would try and use me for their personal gain. For those
reasons I would try to use my sick teleportation abilities in secret or hidden away. In

Although he realized that eventually his life would end, he still never gave up the
hope that perhaps he could outsmart his fate to die, if just to steal a few extra hours.
amp;#9;This illness Johnny had was incurable, and Johnny knew that, but Johnny
had such hope he didn t believe that. Later in the book, Johnny finally accepts he is
going to die. quot; A desperate charging hope shone in his eyes. Very slowly the
hand went up. He felt his head tentatively, felt it again with full palm, and then,
limply, helplessly, hopelessly, the hand fell down, and this was the only time I ever
saw his eyes actually spill over with tears. quot;(p85) Johnny finally realized that
death was a possibility now. Throughout his battle with the brain tumor, Johnny s dad

others and not wanting to burden others with his troubles. Johnny was always strong

  • 2. The Effect Of Aggregate Demand On The Economy As supported by the minutes released from the November meeting of the Federal Open market Committee, the economy continues to strengthen and looks as though it will remain healthy through the foreseeable future. The economy has returned to normalcy in terms of Consumer Price since the hurricanes hit Florida and Texas, as evidenced by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers: Gasoline(all types) which is portrayed in the graph below. The FOMC has also reported that inflationis projected to remain below the two percent for at least the next two quarters. The the inflation rate is expected to increase to two percent by the medium term which will stabilize it at the Fed s target goal. This growth in the inflation rate is demonstrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concern with the current slow growth of the Fed Funds Rate is that there is a similar pattern as there was prior to the decline in 2008, where inflation tanked and the Fed Funds Rate, which was high at 4.24% was not enough to halt the inflation drop. The similar pattern in inflation and the Fed Funds Rate can be seen in the two graphs below. If the Federal Open Market Committee does not increase the rate of the growing Fed Funds Rate within the next few quarters the likeliness of another recession increases. Although it would not be as extensively damaging as the recession in 2008, a recession would be nonetheless detrimental to the economy, as we would be set back in all the economical progress that has been made in the past 10 years, as shown in the graphs above. Currently, the Federal Reserve has set the rate to rest at a target range of 1 to 1 1/4 percent. The Federal Open Market Committee acknowledged in their November meeting that inflation has more headway to make until it is at the two percent mark they have set as a long term target. This situation contains both positive and negative elements. A low inflation rate benefits consumer confidence, because consumers are easily able to manage the gradual inflation and do not see change reflected in day to day consumption since inflation rises slowly. However, with a low Federal Funds Rate, and the potential for inflation to decline for any
  • 3. Bones Essay In the past decade, network television has been bombarded by crime shows attempting to make their mark on viewers. All of these programs CSI, Lie to Me, Numb3rs, Law Order have the same general set up of a male lead with a hot head who is complemented by his team of FBI agents. As a loyal viewer and fan of Bones, I often wonder what makes it stay afloat with so many shows out there like it. Could it be that Bones isn t like any of the other crime shows? Through its crimes and unsolved murders, Bones helps its viewers make sense of the disastrous world around them. Finally, Nguyen also says that while the actors portray their roles very well, and it is clear that the slight chemistry between Deschanel [Dr. Brennan] and Boreanaz [Agent Booth] doesn t seem to be headed for any successful route, which he obviously thinks is an old, worn out scenario. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and as we have seen in the most recent season, Booth has accepted his feelings for Brennan and, in the early episodes of season five, has been trying to tell her how he feels. In the real world, many crimes remain unsolved, but in Bones every murder is solved and the killer is brought to justice. As Letizia, the author of a TV review entitled Bones , asserts, fans root not just for crimes to be solved, but for [Booth and Brennan], working in tandem, to solve them. The viewer begins to trust these two characters and think of them as real people they have let into their lives. Another difference, pointed out by Letizia, that Bones offers is Where an episode of CSI leaves one with the feeling that evil exists no matter what we do about it, Bones makes the case that there is also good. She does not have the typical proper style as other authors do, which shows drastically in her short story The Lesson. • 10. Beach Descriptive Essay The beach is known for being a place to relax; the beach I went to was a run of the mill beach, tan sand with rocks next to an aqua sea, I was there with my Mother and family on a cloudless day in summer 2009.Nevertheless we were on the beach, it was filled with umbrellas of all colors, filling the beach like a canvas with hundreds of strokes on it. Starting our trip started with setting up our blanket and umbrella so we could sit down to relax at the start, but we all wanted to head out and swim so I put on my yellow goggles and arm floaters with dolphins on them, heading into the water which was reasonably warm in 90 degree weather . We were fairly deep into the water, the goggles and arm floaters were making sure I kept above the water as well as not inhaling any, it was fun splashing my family or going underwater to test how far we could see which was four inches. Out of nowhere, my Mother had screeched Just stand sideways, you ll be fine! ,abruptly, I saw it towering over us, a shadow coming towards us, I started to run away, or at least make an attempt to. Fear consumes me ,my only thoughts were heading to shore where I would be safe from the wave, I barely went half a foot away before it grabbed me. It grabbed on, dragged me to the middle where I couldn t move up to inhale air or push myself off the bottom to jump, I was trapped under the water, waves above taunting knowing I was trapped. Water was running past , I started to feel a strong tug on my head, before I could realize what was going on, my goggles were dashing away with the water, but I could still open my eyes under the water without the sting of saline water in my eyes. Everything was a mushy brown color, all the sandstarted to be pulled up, mixing with the water, everything in front of and below me was turbid, but when I look up to see the surface of the water, it was shining, crystal clear even. For a bit wondered if I was gazing at Heaven and the wave was my ride to heaven, but the pain snapped me back to reality, black spots were flooding my vision while pain was wrapped around my chest. It had wrapped around me, began to trail down to my toes and rise to my head, it hurt so much, I started to feel tired,

Proponents of the single stage procedure cite recurrence and increased risk of developing cholangitis or gallbladder carcinoma as reasons for performing concurrent cholecystectomy and fistula closure [18]. What happens when projects and interventions undertaken by international NGOs go wrong? Although my scholarly source understands most of these organizations do not seek to do harm, nonetheless harm occurs. This article by global development believes with a few legal and regulatory frameworks setting out how communities can hold NGOs to account, and with even less support fro communities to engage in such a process, there is a significant accountability deficit at the heart of international NGOs. Here we talk about accountability in regards to how NGOs answer to donors or to the national governments of countries in which they are operating. NGOs should account for the money they spend as contracted agents of donors. And they should, of course, be working within the parameters of national regulatory frameworks and laws (although the fact that NGOs themselves often sit on the committees that draw up such regulatory systems is troubling). When development interventions go wrong, or do not work the way they were intended, it is often no one s fault, due rather to events beyond any individual or organization s control. But people s lives are affected, sometimes (as when cholera sweeps through a refugee camp) with the most tragic of consequences (Global Development). Systems for recognizing the rights of beneficiaries and the obligations of agencies do exist. The Sphere Project, for example, sets out in great detail the minimum standards to be expected in, say, a refugee camp. But there are few legal frameworks capable of holding NGOs to account, or setting out in detail exactly when, where and how communities might be able to hold an organization accountable for an intervention that has gone disastrously wrong (Global Development). Unless NGOs and humanitarian agencies can be legally challenged and held to account, such principles and minimum standards do not do enough to establish real

  • 36. Nihilism And Naturalism The religious context of The Sun Also Rises is mostly based off of Naturalism in some cases it can even be viewed as Nihilism. Naturalism is the belief of a soulless universe meaning everything that exists is all just physical matter. Based off of these beliefs there is also no God because there is no need for one. Therefore because there is no Godthere is no purpose or meaning for your life because when you die you don t go to heaven or hell you just die. Because in Naturalism God is non existent you would then have to explain the creation of the universe in some other way. Most Naturalists primarily believe in the big bangand evolution but in this belief comes the first contradiction of naturalism. The theory of evolution is in direct conflict with naturalism. For evolution to work it requires life to continuously multiply in turn giving your life purpose and contradicting the belief in naturalism.another flaw in the belief of naturalism is that there is no real thought or soul. Because of this there would be no need for ethics or morals because if we have no control over our own thought because they are not real than we cant be responsible for our own actions. If this is true than we should not be sending criminals to prisons because they did not truly commit the crimes themselves. A slightly more aggressive or radical form of Naturalism is Nihilism. Nihilism is much like Naturalism however the differences between the two are very important. One example of
