significantly impact my work here at Clarkson and in my home community. As stated above, my
strengths include Mandarin language, as well as mainland China culture and pedagogical methods of
curriculum delivery. While our relatively new program is quite successful (we have a100% teacher
certification pass rate and 97% placement rate), we lack significant opportunities for student and
faculty exchanges outside of the mainland. A Fulbright experience of this sort would give us the
opportunity to expand our programs significantly in areas of recruitment, cultural understanding,
approaches to language learning and best pedagogical practices. There are only two institutions of

comprised of the Americas; Europe, Africa, and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent

North American natural gas prices now hover at $4/MMBtu, down from highs in the $10/ MMBtu to

said to a crowd of working class Virginians on the eve of the rebellion. In the summer of 1676,
Nathaniel Bacon led a group of men through Indian reservations, protesting the unfair Indian policy
and land grants of that time. There was not much fertile land within the colony due to the growth of
tobacco, and Bacon believed the Indians were undeserving of their large reservations. In protest of the
unjust laws set in place, Bacon led an army of angry indentured servants, slaves and poor free men
into executing heinous crimes against the Indian race as a whole. The men believed they were fighting
against a system that promoted servitude, but Bacon used his rebellion as a way of fighting against the

Some might say that America is a beautiful country, and that it is filled with freedom and hard work,

there are bias and inequality in politics, it will definitely affect the people on the other end of the
sword. Ironically, this does happen, through racism, and mistreatment of the LGBTQ s. Racism has
been a thing in America ever since our freedom from England. From American slavery to segregation,
it was almost considered edicate to dislike and mistreat blacks and mexicans. Now that segregation is
illegal, and illegal working conditions for mexican immigrants isn t as big as a problem, people think
that racism doesn t exist. Well, looking at examples through history, you can t kill a culture with laws,
and this isn t an exception. When I was ten, my youngest sister s friend s mom wouldn t allow her to
go to her party, because she was black. My older sister and father have both been called derogatory
and racist names growing up. A lady opened up her house to victims in the Las Vegas shooting to help,
but she wouldn t allow any blacks or gays. There are also countless videos online of people being
racist. Two that come to mind is when a lady wouldn t let her child be seen by a black doctor, and one
woman called a black man racist names and spit on him. An epidemic of unarmed young black males
