Open air pastry cases brim with yogurt parfaits and fresh fruit, and a carefully orchestrated pop music
soundtrack is piped throughout. Yet Dunkin built itself on serving simple fare to working class
customers. Inching upscale without alienating that base will prove tricky. There will be no couches in
the new stores. And Dunkin renamed a new hot sandwich a stuffed melt after customers complained
that calling it a panini was too fancy. We re walking that [fine] line, says Regina Lewis, the chain s
vice president of consumer insights. The thing about the Dunkin tribe is, they see through the hype.
Dunkin s research showed that although loyal Dunkin customers want nicer stores, they were
bewildered and turned off by the atmosphere at Starbucks. They groused that crowds of laptop users
made it difficult to find a seat. They didn t like Starbucks tall, grande, and venti lingo for small,
medium, and large coffees. And they couldn t understand why anyone would pay as much as $4 for a
cup of coffee. It was almost as though they were a group of Martians talking about a group of

Motown Civil Rights Movement
The Impact of the Relationship between Motown and the Civil Rights Movement
It was possible to view the sign that was above the Motown Records front windows located in Detroit
during the 1960 s. The sign read Hitsville U.S.A. and Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown had placed
it there after the company moved to a new location. It was the Grand Blvd 2648 W. and the sign
proved that Gordy was indeed a force to be reckoned with as time went by. The Motown Record
Company had established itself as a successful and independently run African America business. The
company encouraged the youth of America by urging them to go and look beyond the racial divides
that existed. He wanted them to dance and sing together at a time when the issue of unity was gaining
a lot of importance .
Main Discussion
Motown Records was able to produce legends that included the Jackson Five, Gladys Knight, Martha
Reeves, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Marvin Gaye. It is evident
that Motown had created a new tune that had never been heard before among the American youth, and
thus it helped in the shaping of the 1960 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The allegations were not true because Motown was able to embody one of the key principles
regarding the Civil Rights Movement. It mostly preached about black independence and success. It is
evident that Gordy did not intend on proclaiming the message of empowerment and black
independence. However, based on his actions of going ahead and establishing the record company, he
played a role in accomplishing one of the Civil Rights Movement s goals, which was black economic
independence. It means that the success and establishment of Motown was a political act of intrinsic
value. It is because it served as the needed proof regarding the fact that African Americans could be as
successful and independent as the whites could

A Research On Memory Strategies
Memory Strategies
Total time hypothesis maintains the retention rate of information is directly correlated to how much
and long one studies what he/she endeavors to learn (Matlin, 2012). The distributed practice effect is
the spreading of one s learning trials over time rather than cramming a large amount of content into a
minuscule interval of time (Matlin, 2012). The testing effect argues that taking a test or practice test
boosts long term memory for academic material (Matlin, 2012). These three memory improvement
strategies emphasize on aspects of practice in order to enhance the memory that one can use in
everyday life. John is a junior at Grand Canyon University majoring in Christian Studies and
Psychology. In order for John to maintain good grades in his classes, John takes advantage of the
distributed practice effect, total time hypothesis, and testing effect to ensure he exceeds his exams.
Total time Hypothesis
Total time hypothesis simply says how much somebody learns depends on the time devoted to
learning (Matlin, 2012). In general cases, this hypothesis has been proven valid and it is common for
people to assume. However, there are many issues with this idea. This method focuses on the quantity
aspects of studying instead of the quality of studying. Researchers contend the number of hours spent
studying is not a variable that can be used to predict the grade point average of a student (Matlin,
2012). For many students, reading and rereading their lecture notes

Global Warming And Greenhouse Effect
The greenhouse effect is caused by the emission of greenhouse gases which prevent the outgoing
radiation of the sun from returning back into space. This entrapped energy of the sun results in the
excessive heating up of the earth, and causes the much spoken about phenomenon of global warming,
thus exhibiting the relation between global warming and the greenhouse effect.
Introduction: The greenhouse effect is a natural warming process of the earth. The theory is that when
the sun s energy reaches the earth, some of it is reflected back to space while the rest is absorbed. The
absorbed energy warms the earth s surface which then emits heat energy back toward space in the
form of long wave radiation. This outgoing radiation is partially trapped by greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor which then radiate the energy in all directions, warming the
earth s surface and atmosphere.
What is Global Warming?: What happens when too much carbon dioxide goes into the Earth s
atmosphere? The condition known as Global Warming occurs. Global Warming is the rising of the
Earth s surface temperature due to chemicals in the atmosphere. Global Warming has many threats on
the climate and even the health of the people on this planet. Some of these threats include the altering
of crop seasons and even affect the way organisms survive on the planet. Troubling facts about the
greenhouse effect include that the increasing amounts of greenhouse gases intensify the greenhouse

The Laughing Heart Essay
The poem The Laughing heart by Charles Bukowski begins with a declaration that puts mortality into
perspective. In lines 1 through 3 the main thought expressed, is that the reader is in charge of their
own life, and not to let anyone or anything change that mindset! your life is your life/don t let it be
clubbed into dank submission./be on the watch. ( Bukowski 1 3). In lines 4 through 7 the poem is
telling the reader, that no matter what situation, how desperate it may appear, if you just look for it
there is always hope and a way to escape. Look at the positive things in life because it always trumps
looking at things in a negative aspect. there are ways out. there is light somewhere. it may not be

be on the watch. the gods will offer you chances. know them. take them. ( Bukowski 8 11) Lines 12
through 13 mentions death. It is inevitable everyone will become acquainted with death at some point
in time, and there is nothing that you or anyone else can do about it. The only way to beat death is to
live! Don t hide in a shell like a hermit crab, and watch your life just drift by. Live life to the fullest.
You only get one opportunity at this life and Bukowski wants the reader to use it. . you can t beat
death but/you can beat death in life, sometimes. ( Bukowski 12 13).
In lines 14 through 16 Bukowski wants the reader to know that a life well lived cannot be deterred by
death. Once the reader realizes this they will become happier and live a life full of purpose. and the
more often you learn to do it,/the more light there will be./your life is your life. ( Bukowski 14 16). In
lines 17 through 20 Bukowski reiterates that our lives belong to us and it is up to us to recognize its
full potential. We have an inner god that is waiting to break loose, if we could only free ourselves
from the darkness! know it while you have

The Trojan Women ( 1971 )
The movie The Trojan Women (1971) is a successful and compelling contemporary adaption of the
tragedy The Trojan Women, written by Euripides. Overall, the film follows the whole plot very well
and depicts the main characters of Euripides work expressly, especially characters like Cassandra,
Andromache, and Helen. Although the director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience
can feel Trojan women s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble.
The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning, the play starts with
the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon describes the aftermath of the war and the
bleak scene, giving out a background story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the
Trojan side. In contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena s
role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to the audience the
background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly just speaking, while the chorus in
the play sings in between every act. The chorus is used to switch to the next act and to tell the
background. However, the film is quite fluent without excess singings of the chorus, because the
movie is easy to change the location, time, and setting smoothly. Small changes like these two parts do
not affect the big picture.
Instead of these small changes, characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen in the film,

Summary Of Electroencephalogram (EEG)
Stage 1 is the Electroencephalogram (EEG). The EEG provides a summary of electro activity from a
certain area of the brain. The EEG is also the sum of the electrical activity of all neurons between the
two recording electrodes (Garrett,2015). Stage 1 is when one is feeling drowsy and transitioning into a
state of sleep (Thien Thanh Dang Vu, 2017). Stage 2 is the K complex. These are sharp waves that
happen at least once a minute. This stage characterizes the first stage of sleep. Stage 2 has an
appearance of spindles (Thien Thanh Dang Vu, 2017). Where the waves have a gating function that

Sports of the Renaissance Essay
James Naismith, creator of basketball, used a soccer ball as the first basketball. The game of soccer
was originally played with an inflated animal bladder that was surrounded with leather (Leibs 67). Just
as in every sport, as time evolves, so do the materials being played with. The materials begin
becoming more durable, controllable, and affordable. During the Renaissance period, many sports
were evolved and took a turn for the better. Although many sports were introduced during the
Renaissance period; football, lawn bowling, and tennis were the three main sports that influenced
today s time period the most. The Renaissance period was a time of change and rebirth. During this
period, the rise of the Middle Class occurred. With the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time evolved, the ball was eventually made out of a leather material. With this leather material, the
ball became more durable and controllable. The rules back in the Renaissance were way different than
the rules today. During the Renaissance, the game was commonly played between two streets, 27 men
played on each side, and there were no strict rules or penalties. These rules impacted today s in many
different ways. Today, a field is 100 yards long and 60 yards wide. There are only 11 players on each
team, and there are many strict rules. If it were not for the Renaissance period, Soccer would have
never evolved into the great sport that many people love today. Many people enjoyed this sport during
the Renaissance, which led to the popularity of the sport today. Soccer is probably the most popular
sport in the world, though it is most popular in European, African, and Latin American nations (
Soccer ). Just like soccer, another sport that greatly influenced the modern day was Lawn Bowling.
Lawn Bowling, also known as Bowls, influenced today s modern sport called Bocce Ball. Bowls
originated from the Romans and Descended from the universal pastime of throwing rocks or pebbles
at targets on the ground (Leibs 73). By the beginning of the Renaissance, this sport was popular
among all classes of society. Some popular equipment that was used in the game was weighted balls,
the jack, and the Trigg. Each player had four wooden balls, with a

Virtue Ethics And Prostitution In The United States
Pornography is a sin that has catastrophic in its effect on the state of men and women in the United
States. In 2016 alone, more than 4,599,000,000 hours of porn were consumed on the world s largest
porn site (Lazzaro, 2017). This statistic is shocking, in that, one year only has 8760 hours in it for one
individual. That means that these hours would make up 5,246 centuries of time spent watching
pornography in one year. These numbers are astronomical, and porn continues to create billions of
dollars in revenue with some numbers estimating that in 2016 the porn industry as a whole took in 97
billion dollars worldwide (Fredrickson 2007). But why is pornography bad? Clearly there is a large
market for it that is being met, but why is this a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is defined as A right act is the action a virtuous person would do in the same circumstances
(citation). In other words, what would Jesus, or some other person acting morally, do given a similar
situation. Virtue ethics is much more concerned with the perfection of the individual and working to
get people to act their most moral. Using the normative ethical system specified in your selection,
provide detailed argumentation to support the position ( for or against ) in your selection regarding the
moral issue. While you may want to incorporate empirical data as part of your arguments, do not do so
excessively. Virtue ethics would be staunchly opposed to the problem of pornography. Pornography is
an outgrowth of a very normal human necessity to procreate, but it becomes hijacked and creates an
unhealthy amount of lust in an individual. Also, given the awful conditions and experiences that so
many of the actors suffer when creating the product, its immense evil becomes a clear moral problem.
It is a problem though, that must be dealt with on an individual level, as the statistics show, there is an
immense market for this material, and the only way to really fight this kind of evil, is for the
individual who is currently on porn, to get off of it. Then work to help others get off and stay off in
their community. Otherwise, there is really not going to be one easy way to stop this epidemic in
America. Virtue ethics is also the perfect system to help fight this problem because Virtue ethics sees
the role of moral theory as being concerned with strategies for perfecting human nature and for
helping individuals become well developed human beings (Stewart, Blocker, Petrik 2013). With all of
the problems that where listed, it is clear that the problem with pornography is something that is
creating far more problems for the

The Operational Safety Management System
INTRODUCTION Any well designed safety program or system is only as effective as the day to day
ability of everyone in the organisation to rigorously follow procedures correctly and safely every time.
(Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009: p.147) This statement is based on organisational discipline or each
worker as having the self restraint to perform every task required.
Angiullo supports the statement by discussing the operational safety management system in three core
areas: leadership characteristics; well defined and followed management processes; and maintenance
of high standards. Organisations only fully conform to organisational discipline when these three areas
are effectively implemented within the organisation. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009). This essay will
discuss why it is believed to be an utopian statement by comparing the core areas against the AS/NZ
4801:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems specification with guidance for use
and supporting literature.
LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
An organisation s managerial leadership and commitment is defined from the top levels and filters
through to the front line worker. Leadership inspires and motivates only when it is consistent. What
management do or do not do including providing resources, their personal actions or the method of
communication can motivate or demotivate workers (Cutchfield, Roughton 2014). It has been
identified that leadership language, behaviour and trustworthiness shapes the beliefs and

How Did St Paul Influence Religion
Saint Paul is one of the most influential people in the Catholic Church to date, as he is one of the
leaders of the first generation of Christians, he has travelled countless of miles for his missionaries,
and he has converted thousands upon thousands of people into Christians; that is just the beginning. It
all started where St Paul came from: Tarsus, a major city in eastern Cilicia now known as eastern¬
Turkey, his trade was tent making, which he continued to practice after his conversion to Christianity.
Paul ¬¬¬spent much of the first half of his life persecuting the Christians, as he was born into a

Before all this, he was known as Saul, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A missionary is someone who believes fully in a religion and who wishes to spread their religion to
new countries and regions, they are dedicated completely to their religion and do not waver from what
their God wants. This full pledge to God allowed St Paul to be known as one of the most influential
people in the Catholic Church, as well as writing many letters to individuals, communities and
churches about many things such as the Gospel, his newly found wisdom and the messages from God.
St Paul became a missionary to connect to God easier, and to teach people about God and convert
people into the Christian life. As Paul became a missionary, he furthered his understanding of God,
and furthered the understanding of God to other people, resulting in a large increase of Christian faith
and believers. St Paul wrote many letters to the public about God and how to broaden their faith of
God. An instance of one of St Paul s letters is Galatians. His purpose of writing this letter to Galatia,
was to make sure they were on the path of truth and not led off into deceiving the wrong thing about
God. This letter was written in an aggressive tone, showing just how important it was to him that the
people embrace unity in Christ. Another example of a writing of Paul is Ephesians. He talks about

Sister Of St Joseph Challenges
The Sisters of St Joseph is an Australian Catholic organisation. It was founded in Penola, South
Australia in 1866 by Mary MacKillop and Reverend Julian E Tenison Woods. There are about 886
sisters living and ministering throughout Australia, New Zealand, East Timor, Ireland, Brazil, Scotland
and Peru. The Sisters of St Joseph participate in God s mission by serving across a wide range of
ministries, to meet needs in a variety of ways. Josephites seek to never see a need without doing
something about it .
The Josephites faced a few challenges along the way of becoming a successful organisation. Early on,
the Sisters faced challenges like people not thinking they were religious, and not being able to support
themselves properly. Alongside this, there was a growing dislike for Fr Wood s management of
schools. Another challenge was when Mary MacKillop was excommunicated in 1871.
The Sisters of St Joseph have made many contributions to the Catholic Church, some of which include
providing education for the poor, caring for children and the elderly, and providing pastoral support.

Mother Goddess In Greek God
The definition of the Mother Goddess is that she represents or is a personification of nature,
motherhood, fertility, creation, destruction, or who embodies the bounty of the earth. Gaia, the first
Greek God, is the primordial deity in the Ancient Greek pantheon and considered a Mother Goddess
or Great Goddess. Some attributes of Gaia are that she is the Earth, fruits, a primal Mother Goddess,
complete in herself. I believe that if the Mother Goddess was once again the most popular spirituality
on the planet, things would change drastically. For example, men would be more in touch with their
emotions it would be normal and not shunned or looked down upon. In today s world, for some reason
men think that they have something to prove, they think that they need to be the bread winners. If they
are anything less than that then they feel weak and incompetent. I believe that if The Mother Goddess
was worshiped now men wouldn t feel so entitled. Us humans would treat each other, plants and
animals better. Crime rates would dramatically decrease, it defiantly would not be as high as it is
today. Men and woman would work together again, making it where instead of viewing women as

If she was once again the most popular spirituality on the planet we would believe what the ancient
people believed a long time ago. What I mean by that is, they believed that the Mother goddess heals,
nurtures and supports all life on this planet. They believed that nature heals all illnesses, but they also
believed that if you violated any of her laws you would pay the consequences by suffering and
diseases. So, if she was the most popular spirituality again we would obey her laws because we would
not want to hurt ourselves or our family with the consequences. That is the reason why I believe that
we would have less violence in our world if we worshiped her

Comparing The Thing And Terminator II
Advanced or behind In both films that were presented in class The Thing and Terminator II:
Judgement Day, there are different versions of technology, and different perceptions of the future.
Though both films have a different take of these two aspects they both show a world that is slowly
turning into a dystopia. The dystopia in The Thing started as soon as the Aliens crashed on our planet.
It was a slow and uneasy to watch that process can make viewers cringe. In Terminator II: Judgement
Day the dystopia was a little less personal. Even with the humans worried that the human race would
soon be destroyed the aspect that all the other humans did not know what was happening made it
somewhat easier to watch than The Thing. With both movies showing their different takes on
technology and invasions they show viewers two different ideas/depictions of the future that humans
might have no considered. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie can be seen as a little more or and invasive attack on the humans. These aliens can
consume humans and then take the form of their body. The reason this is invasive to some is because
we all look at each other as being the same. No matter what someone s skin colour, hair colour or eye
colour be we all know who each others bodies work. However, now with these aliens, that mind set in
completely gone. Yes, it is obvious that this movie is one of science fiction. Having these aliens be
able to take over the one thing that we are supposed to have control over is very frightening. This
movie makes viewers think and consider the possibility of this actually happening. What if it already
has and we have a Thing walking among us right now? This is what sets the movie The Thing apart

The Many Benefits Of Building The Great Wall Of China
The Great Wall of China is known all over the world, but did you ever think of what it was made of?
The Great Wall of China is made of hang t u or pounded earth. The Great Wall of China is a world
wide historical monument, known by many people today. It took about 2,500 years to build. Did the
good outweigh the bad though? There are three main reasons that the benefits of building the Great
Wall of China did not outweigh the costs: It costs many lives, made many people suffer, and didn t
help with the Xiongnu. While they were building the wall it, over many years, killed many people as
they built it their whole life. Also when they were finished building the great wall they had to deal
with the Xiongnu. The Xiongnu would attack and kill the

Iron Jawed Angels Analysis
Iron Jawed Angels is a drama genre film, directed by Katja Von Garnier. It portrays and accurately
accounts the events that took place in the 1920 s during the suffragist movement lead by Alice Paul.
Paul works alongside her friend, Lucy Burns and many other activists in an attempt to gain the 19th
Amendment giving women the right to vote. Visual effects were used throughout the entirety of the
film to emphasise the theme of despair, which features. These effects include the montage and close
up shot in the opening scene, the quick cutting in the picketing scene, and the close up shot and
lighting in the force feeding scene.
The opening scene features visual effects in order to emphasise the theme of despair in the film.
Initially we are introduced to the character of Alice Paul with a long shot of her on a swing. The shot
appears as a horror film, setting off a daunting tone. We are then eventually displayed with a montage
of flash forwards and flash backs into Alice s future and past. A close up is used of Alice s eye, which
appears fearful and exhausted, blood shot and struggling to remain open. This sets an initial sense of
despair. Following this the montage features sped up passing storm clouds to foreshadow the darkness
and despair to come. These editing techniques were used by Garnier to convey the theme of despair in
the film by allowing little easing into the situation. In relation to the wider world, although this theme
of despair was being emphasised by these

Should Humans Consume Insects as an Alternate Source of Food? Intro Cultivating animals and crops
takes countless amount of hours and use an abundance of resources; furthermore, it produces waste
that can be harmful to the environment. The human population is increasing at an ever increasing rate
and scientists all over the world are trying to solve a global issue. It is estimated by the UN that the
population will hit 9.7 billion by 2050; undoubtedly, these inefficient and wasteful processes will not
suffice. What about insects, there are plentiful in supply and are packed with proteins and other
nutrients that the body needs; furthermore, using insects in our main diets will decrease the need for
domesticated animals which causes creates problems for everyone; in contrast to insects, which have
versatile ways for people to choose from, use less resources, and produce less waste. Lastly, if we
decrease the population of insects it will actually benefit society by limiting the amount of infestation
and their effects on crops, trees, etc. (DeFoliart, 1992) (Premalatha, 2011) (Verkerka, Trampera,
Trijpb, Martensa, 2007). This proposal will examine the nutrients, environmental impacts, ethics, and
effectiveness of an insect diet and will then be presented through a tri fold board with clear pictures,
statistics and information about this topic. The Problem and How People Are Using Similar Processes

Stem Cell Regulation
Skin with its hair follicle is an excellent system to study molecular mechanism of stem cell regulation.
Due to constant need of tissue regeneration, it has abundant number of stem cells. Hair follicle consist
of a permanent portion sebaceous gland and below it is a bulge area, which houses Hair follicle
epidermal stem cells(HFSCs). Bulge also provides niche for melanocyte stem cells interspersed
between HFSCs. Behavior of the two stem cells is well coordinated. Differentiating melanocytes
transfer pigment to terminally differentiated hair follicles (Nishimura et al., 2002; Tanimura et al.,
2011; Rabbani et al., 2011).Hair follicle undergoes cyclical bouts of 3 phases anagen (phase of active
growth), catagen (destruction phase) and telogen (rest phase) (Hardy, 1992). HFSCs give rise to
daughter stem cells which are retained in the bulge area and others form, either epidermal progenitors
which migrate upwards during tissue repair or it forms hair matrix progenitors which migrate below to
form hair shaft (Niemann Watt 2002; Oshima et al., 2001; Taylor et al. 2000).
In early 1990s, HFSCs were located in the bulge region by label retention studies (Cotsarelis et al.,
1990; Morris and Potten, 1994). Later in 2001, presence of HFSCs in bulge area was confirmed by
transplantation experiments. When lac z labeled bulge region from adult mice was transplanted into
hairless mice, lac z labeled cells formed morphologically distinct hair follicle (Oshima et., 2001).

Essay Carl Jung and The Great Gatsby
Carl Jung and The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald s classic story about the shallow aristocracy of the 1920 s
American society, is the topic of much interpretation. This paper presents the proposition that the
Roaring Twenties were years dominated by an SP (part of Carl Jung s archetypal psychology that will
later be explained in more depth) society and the characters in The Great Gatsby reflect and were
deeply affected by this fact. Daisy will be analyzed herein, as well as the effect that an SP society had
on her actions and development.

What is SP ? In Jungian terms it is basically the group of sensory people who are free with their time,
S and P being two of four letters that fully make up a persons temperament. According to Jung, when
the two characteristics are combined, the affected person is naturally playful and careless. They live in
the moment and have no time for rules and regulations. They are the majority of the worlds
entertainers, athletes, soldiers, etc. Where there is excitement, there are SP s. Status and appearance
are often important to SP s, yet not so much what is thought of them by society. When I say that the 20
s were an SP era, I mean just that: the people were of loose ethics and wanted to be free of
responsibility. Of course this does not encompass everyone, but it is the stereotype of the times, just as
not all people were hippies in the 1960 s, the 60 s are stereotypically the hippie era. Don t be afraid

In between this time he talked about how they became rich and how they lost it and how they became

Americans came and conquered the Mexican army and the Americans gained ownership of the West

When the U.S.A. finally had control of Utah they made Brigham Young the governor of it because

Key Characteristics Of Muhammad And Islam In The Islamic...
Islam came to influence during the 7th century there were key characteristics that led to the Islamic
Empire becoming one of the greatest civilisations of the era. During this initial period of Islam there
were crucial elements that influenced the direction of the Islamic world. These were the emergence of
caliphates and the rise of ruling dynasties, the rapid expansion of Islamic territories through trade and
conquest, and finally the development of cultural, intellectual and scientific collaboration and
exchange.
The prophet Muhammad and Islam, brought about an age of unification for the people of the Arabian
Peninsula. The initial response to Muhammad and his teachings were slow, but saw religion replacing
kinship as the basis of a collective identity, however, he was a charismatic peacemaker who preached
the divine revelations of the one true God Allah, these would later become part of the Qur an.
Muhammad became a leader in Medina, and his followers became known as the Ummah (a single
community of believers which transcends place). The Muslim people saw Muhammad not as a divine
figure but as the perfect man , he had so completely given himself to his divine revelations that he
influenced Muslim society so fully that it enabled his people to live in harmony (Armstrong 2002,
p.24).

rulers), the first four had all been close to the prophet and had learned directly from his

A Fulbright opportunity enhancing learning about the culture, people, and language of Taiwan would
significantly impact my work here at Clarkson and in my home community. As stated above, my
strengths include Mandarin language, as well as mainland China culture and pedagogical methods of
curriculum delivery. While our relatively new program is quite successful (we have a100% teacher
certification pass rate and 97% placement rate), we lack significant opportunities for student and
faculty exchanges outside of the mainland. A Fulbright experience of this sort would give us the
opportunity to expand our programs significantly in areas of recruitment, cultural understanding,
approaches to language learning and best pedagogical practices. There are only two institutions of
higher education in New York State with the MAT program certified in Mandarin; while the data show
that we are obviously of documented high quality, an expansion to other Chinese cultures, geographic
locations, and pedagogical approaches would help us intervene in the myth that it is only Beijing
where students and faculty should go for their teaching, language and cultural experiences. I
personally have always enjoyed extending my academic expertise to my greater community as well.

Marc Lamont Hill s Speech Analysis
Dr. Marc Lamont Hill gave the 2017 All Bonaventure Reads keynote at St. Bonaventure University
this past Monday. During the summer, the freshman class all read Hill s book, Nobody: Casualties of
America s War on The Vulnerable from Ferguson to Flint and Beyond. In the book, many thought
provoking events that are a part of America s history were discussed. The theme of the keynote was
why people are put into the category of a nobody. Hill opens his speech by relating the events that he
talked about in his book to current events, like football players kneeling during the National Anthem.
Bringing up a current event is a good opener because it engaged his young audience by stating a
controversial subject. Hill said that when he first started writing he wanted to write a book about what
happened in Ferguson, Missouri with Michael Brown. He showed emotion when he was giving this
part of the speech to give emphasis to the tragedy of what happened. When it occurred, he had to do a
story on it for the news without physically being there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

who are given the most, should do the most. In this quote, he is saying, if someone has more resources
given to them, they should use those resources to help others who do not have as many as they need.
Investing in people is the most important thing you can do. The speech that Dr. Marc Lamont Hill

Conquest Of Constantinople Research Paper
The conquest of Constantinople was wrongly justified and resulted with the fall of the Byzantine
Empire. The Fourth Crusade began when the Crusaders went to Venice to ask for ships to sail to Egypt
but was unable to afford it. In exchange for ships, the Crusaders agreed to regain the city of Zara
under Hungarian rule. The Crusaders were able to claim back Zara for the Venetians but were
excommunicated since they attacked a Christian city. Right before they were going to Egypt, Alexius
Comnenus asked for help from the Crusaders to help him restore his power in the Byzantine Empire.
In exchange for help, Alexius would provide the Crusaders, supplies, ships and necessary help for the
siege of Jerusalem. In 1203, the Crusaders would band with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

power to claim the war was just under the name of God. When the Crusaders began sacking the city
they engaged in stealing gold and silver, others precious stones... 3 This was justified since it was
considered a right of conquest... 4 This wrongful justification was obviously fueled by the agreement
made with Alexius to restore power for goods. Time and time again in the conquest of Constantinople,
the Crusaders would wrongly justify their attacks in the name of God or righteousness. The Fourth
Crusade was initiated based on greed and the idea the Crusaders could gain more for their siege of the
Holy Land. The Crusaders chose to attack Zara, a Christian city to get ships against the pleasing of the
Pope. The Crusaders would get the ships but then attempt to gain more by helping Alexius regain his

Managing Friendships Can Be A Complicated Process
Managing friendships can be a complicated process as it is a multifaceted topic with various needs
depending on the relationship you are dealing with. Many people are shy or diffident in their abilities
when it comes to social networks and do not know where to start when interacting with others. There
are plenty of guides and words of advice that focus on romantic relationships and being a better
partner, but what is often left out is how to be a better friend. Even looking within friendships, though,
there are various, complex aspects of it, ranging from the degree of similarity between two people to
the extent of honesty and trust between them. But what these facets are rooted upon is expression how
to express these similarities, how to convey trust and loyalty, how to reveal appreciation, and so on. In
a sense, then, the foundation of friendship is communication. As a result, this guide will focus on the
nuanced aspects of communication in order to facilitate strong friendships. Delving into this sphere
and explaining the critical, applicable research on communication will help you decipher strong
communication tactics versus types of communication that can break friendships. The beginning part
of this guide will cover the main ways of self disclosing, or sharing information and feelings with

Natural gas is finding its place at the very heart of the energy discussions. The recent discoveries of
quite a substantial amount of natural gas in the U.S.A, primarily as a result of the shale gas
development, have attracted much interest towards natural gas as a key component of energy supply
and have lowered prices well below recent expectations. But in other parts of the globe, prices of

GLOBAL GAS MARKETS
Source: Waterborne, US FERC (prices as of 7th June 2013).
Traditionally, world gas markets have operated as three largely self contained regions. These are
comprised of the Americas; Europe, Africa, and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS) and the Far East and Middle East. These regions enjoyed limited interconnectivity and
each region developed its own distinctive supply/demand and pricing dynamics. In the Americas,
prices are determined by short term contracts indexed to the primary market prices set at the Henry
Hub. In Europe, prices are mostly determined by long term contracts based on the next best
alternative, typically indexed against fuel oil and heating oil prices. In the Middle and Far East,
pricing is also typically based on long term contracts, indexed to a mix of oil prices, but within a
defined range and often at higher levels compared to Europe.
These different pricing models have, to date, resulted in very different price levels and price volatility
between the regions.
North American natural gas prices now hover at $4/MMBtu, down from highs in the $10/ MMBtu to
$13/MMBtu range just a few years ago.
In Europe, demand for additional gas continues to accelerate, driven by the depletion of conven¬tional
gas, on going environmental concerns (particularly the growing consensus against shale gas) and the
Fukushima disaster s impact on the role of nuclear power.

Question 1 In the framework of the management research question hierarchy following steps can be
developed to solve current dilemma (Cooper amp; Schindler, 2006): * Dilemma: use of publication
reader service cards has been gradually declining which questioned efficiency of its advertisements to
provide necessary information. * Research questions: conducing a research study about efficiency of
reader service cards use would be a reasonable action that are available for taking advantage in the
situation. * Investigation questions: in order for a manager to decide about further use of reader
service cards, evaluation of all methods should be carried out to get deep insight about their relative
effectiveness. * Management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, based on this information appropriate original sample sizes were selected. On the negative
side, even after pilot studies, questionnaires contained certain limitations, including lack of details
about expected outcomes of the study, better structure of questions, etc. Question 6 In order to digitize
collected data and make it in the convenient form that can be used in the statistical analysis the data
has to be coded appropriately. The most suitable way to code the data would be assigning numerical
values to the options of answers in the multiple choice questions. Since there is a possibility of more
than one answer to every question, then it would be right to construct number of variables equal to the
number of options to questions 1 4 and 7. These variables will contain 2 numeric values, one will
correspond to the case when respondent marked this option and another will indicate he didn t mark
this option. Variable corresponding to questions like 5a, 6, and 8 11) will contain different numeric
characteristics, each corresponding to the available option. Finally, answers from the open question 5b
will be directly digitized to the answer sheet. Hence, the data in this form can be easily analyzed with
the help of statistical software. Question 7 Given that manager is interested in the efficiency of reader
service cards, then research report should set its focus on this issue. The only reported finding of the

Inflation Is The Price Of Money Goes Up
In 1923 Germany set a record, a record that no other nation wishes to near or beat. In that year,
Germany s prices rose a trillion times over. Prices rose so fast that workers had to take shopping
breaks to spend their twice a day paychecks before they became worthless (Schiller, 2013). During
this time of inflation, prices more than doubled every day causing people the inability to save, invest,
lend money, or make any long term plans.
According to B. R. Schiller, inflation is the general increase in the average level of prices of goods and
services, and when the inflation rate is in excess of 200 percent lasting at least one year, that is
hyperinflation. Because inflation is an increase in the average price of goods and services, it ... Show

Conversely, if there is a record crop or oranges, we would expect to see the price of oranges fall, as
orange sellers will need to reduce their prices in order to clear their inventory. These are scenarios of
inflation and deflation, respectively, though in the real world inflation and deflation are changes in the
average price of all goods and services, not just one (Moffatt, n.d.).
There are a several ways to measure inflation The GDP deflator, the Product Price Index, or the
Consumer Price Index. The GDP deflator is a price index that refers to all goods and services included
in GDP. The Product Price Index program measures the average change over time in the selling prices
received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the Product Price Index are
from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services. Finally, the most common
measure of inflation is the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure
of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of
consumer goods and services (Consumer Price Index Frequently Asked Questions, 2014) Note that
items in this basket can be purchased from either domestic or foreign companies, which is one way in
which the Consumer Price Index differs from the GDP deflator

Analysis Of Theme For English B By Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes and I have many things in common.. In Theme for English B Hughes talks about his
truth, how he is very aware that he has a different skin color, but that is not what he thinks he should
be identified by. What identifies him are the accumulation of the things in his life. I can relate with
this because although I do not feel like I am discriminated for my race, I do feel like I m discriminated
against for not being like those of my race. I also know that certain points of one s life shapes it. It is
difficult to know what you are suppose to be when you are a the first born generation in a country.
Much like Hughes at the time that he wrote the piece, I too am young and am eager to grow, while

minorities. There is still a fight. The fight is because despite the changes that have occurred, that
sentence still holds. Because the fundamental problem still exists, I can really understand what
Hughes was trying to convey at the end of that poem.
My background as a tenacious student and a minority has allowed me to connect to the poem in ways
that I could very much relate to. I have personally lived through the motions of life that he refers to in
Theme for English b .Langston Hughes s poem is more about the differences he knows other people
see in him or rather on him, and what they are missing. By doing this, Hughes make it clear that the
color of his skin plays a crucial role in the way that people think he is like. He finishes by boldly
stating what he had been

The American Slave Trade, By Nathaniel Bacon
We must defend ourselves against all Indians in general, for that they are all enemies, Nathaniel Bacon
said to a crowd of working class Virginians on the eve of the rebellion. In the summer of 1676,
Nathaniel Bacon led a group of men through Indian reservations, protesting the unfair Indian policy
and land grants of that time. There was not much fertile land within the colony due to the growth of
tobacco, and Bacon believed the Indians were undeserving of their large reservations. In protest of the
unjust laws set in place, Bacon led an army of angry indentured servants, slaves and poor free men
into executing heinous crimes against the Indian race as a whole. The men believed they were fighting
against a system that promoted servitude, but Bacon used his rebellion as a way of fighting against the
Natives, who he believed were evil. Bacon s rebellion, an act of civil disobedience failed to benefit the
working class but instead became a gateway for the emergence of the American Slave trade, impacting
interracial encounters until today.
During the 1670 s, the colony of Virginia struggled to create their identity as they heavily depended on
tobacco for a source of income. In this early period of colonization, indentured servitude was the most
common source of cheap labor, an occupation in which both whites and blacks struggled to thrive in.
Because of this, both races experienced a common enemy: the wealthy planter. Critically acclaimed

The Story Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Standing on the edge of his new world, Merlin watched his past sail into the horizon. If it were
possible he would feed Sir Lot and his men as a snack to the sea god, Poseidon ... and he knew with
his powers that it was possible. Yet, he sustained from doing so, only because of the young girls
onboard. Instead, he began to chant, lifting his arms to the heavens, instructing the storm to wane, and
the winds to blow the ship swiftly from the shores of Tintagel. When he could no longer see nor sense
the sailing vessel s presence, Merlin turned his back to the sea. For the first time in a long time, he was
uncertain where he would bed for the night. Tintagel s stone fortress loomed foreboding in front of
him, casting a dark shadow over the land, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us explore our surroundings, perhaps we can find a place away from everyone to become our
temporary home. As if answering in agreement, the hawk tucked her head next to his neck, letting out
a reassuring cackling coo. Taking a final glance toward the castle, Merlin speculated if there would be
a post battle celebration, as Uther s men were prone to do when victorious. Yet, there were no true
victors in this war. No foreign enemies killed, only slaughtered Britons: brother fighting brother,
father fighting son. He wondered if Uther s standing orders of slaughtering all wounded and survivors
would pertain to the men who fought on the Duke s side. Suddenly his stomach lurched. Bending over,
he dry heaved in a pile of crumpled leaves; his hawk temporary taking flight. Rising, he wiped his
mouth with the back of his hand. He was bone weary. In desperate need of somewhere away from the
madness, he searched for a place to rest his body, heart, and soul; a place to deaden the day s deeds, a
quiet place to escape into the world of sweet dreams. For the briefest of moments, he paused; the
shadow of Tintagel s fortress beckoning him. A wise man, a braver, saner man than he, would have
sought a soft bed with a pile of pelts within one of the castle s numerous empty rooms. But today, he
felt neither brave nor sane. He was only tired. Walking to the northern side of the island he spied half
dozen small, stone walled thatched

Little Brother By Cory Doctorow Analysis
The United States Government has developed techniques and agencies to help capture and imprison
terrorists including; the Department of Homeland Security and Guantanamo Bay Naval Station. Each
of these Departments has one goal and that is to protect America from terrorism. Taking this large goal
on leaves many questions for the government and the people of America; how far is too far? Are
terrorist entitled to human rights? These questions are discussed and disagreed with quite frequently.
We still do not have any answers for any of these questions. In the book Little Brother by Cory
Doctorow, Marcus and his friends experience how cruel the Department of Homeland Security can be

To try and prevent these acts from occurring governments worldwide have developed laws. The
Physicians for Human Rights states, Freedom from cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment is a
fundamental human right established in international law . In 2009, the United Nations met to discuss
torture and other cruel treatments and punishment. This became known as the UN Convention Against
Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. During this Convention,
they established many laws, in Part One, Article Two it states, No exceptional circumstances
whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, internal political instability or any other public
emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture . Even though there is international law, torture
is practiced in over 100 countries. These countries often justify this doing by saying they need to
extract confessions, identify terrorists, and obtain intelligence critical to preventing attacks. The UN
does not tolerate any torture, no matter the circumstances. When Guantanamo Bay was found of
violating human rights and international law, President Bush insisted that all detainees were well cared
for and that none of the enhanced interrogation techniques employed on some prisoners were torturous
. According to US officials the use of these techniques has revealed valuable intelligence on the

Is America A Beautiful Country
Some might say that America is a beautiful country, and that it is filled with freedom and hard work,
but is it truly? After some quick research, I have come to disagree. Even though we are a powerful
country, we seem to be divided amongst our people by some particular reasons. After some further
research, I have come to conclude that these reasons are;Political problems, unhealthy food, and the
fact that other countries have what we have. You may be thinking, How would this cause someone to
leave the country, and how could some of these reasons separate us as a country? Well, I think so for
these particular reasons.
Starting off, it is a known fact that politics affect everyday life. So if you have political problems, than
it is going to have a negative impact on everyday life. Not only that, but it covers such broad aspect of
life, and will affect almost EVERY SINGLE PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE. To give an example, if
there are bias and inequality in politics, it will definitely affect the people on the other end of the
sword. Ironically, this does happen, through racism, and mistreatment of the LGBTQ s. Racism has
been a thing in America ever since our freedom from England. From American slavery to segregation,
it was almost considered edicate to dislike and mistreat blacks and mexicans. Now that segregation is
illegal, and illegal working conditions for mexican immigrants isn t as big as a problem, people think
that racism doesn t exist. Well, looking at examples through history, you can t kill a culture with laws,
and this isn t an exception. When I was ten, my youngest sister s friend s mom wouldn t allow her to
go to her party, because she was black. My older sister and father have both been called derogatory
and racist names growing up. A lady opened up her house to victims in the Las Vegas shooting to help,
but she wouldn t allow any blacks or gays. There are also countless videos online of people being
racist. Two that come to mind is when a lady wouldn t let her child be seen by a black doctor, and one
woman called a black man racist names and spit on him. An epidemic of unarmed young black males
have been getting shot and killed by police for almost no reason. The L.A riots were caused because of

Yet Dunkin built itself on serving simple fare to working class customers. Inching upscale without alienating that base will prove tricky. There will be no couches in the new stores. And Dunkin renamed a new hot sandwich a stuffed melt after customers complained that calling it a panini was too fancy. We re walking that [fine] line, says Regina Lewis, the chain s vice president of consumer insights. The thing about the Dunkin tribe is, they see through the hype. Dunkin s research showed that although loyal Dunkin customers want nicer stores, they were bewildered and turned off by the atmosphere at Starbucks. They groused that crowds of laptop users made it difficult to find a seat. They didn t like Starbucks tall, grande, and venti lingo for small, medium, and large coffees. And they couldn t understand why anyone would pay as much as $4 for a cup of coffee. It was almost as though they were a group of Martians talking about a group of Earthlings, says an executive from Dunkin s ad agency. • 3. Motown Civil Rights Movement The Impact of the Relationship between Motown and the Civil Rights Movement It was possible to view the sign that was above the Motown Records front windows located in Detroit during the 1960 s. The sign read Hitsville U.S.A. and Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown had placed it there after the company moved to a new location. It was the Grand Blvd 2648 W. and the sign proved that Gordy was indeed a force to be reckoned with as time went by. The Motown Record Company had established itself as a successful and independently run African America business. The company encouraged the youth of America by urging them to go and look beyond the racial divides that existed. He wanted them to dance and sing together at a time when the issue of unity was gaining a lot of importance . Main Discussion Motown Records was able to produce legends that included the Jackson Five, Gladys Knight, Martha Reeves, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Marvin Gaye. It is evident that Motown had created a new tune that had never been heard before among the American youth, and thus it helped in the shaping of the 1960 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The allegations were not true because Motown was able to embody one of the key principles regarding the Civil Rights Movement. It mostly preached about black independence and success. It is evident that Gordy did not intend on proclaiming the message of empowerment and black independence. However, based on his actions of going ahead and establishing the record company, he played a role in accomplishing one of the Civil Rights Movement s goals, which was black economic independence. It means that the success and establishment of Motown was a political act of intrinsic value. It is because it served as the needed proof regarding the fact that African Americans could be as successful and independent as the whites could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Research On Memory Strategies Memory Strategies Total time hypothesis maintains the retention rate of information is directly correlated to how much and long one studies what he/she endeavors to learn (Matlin, 2012). The distributed practice effect is the spreading of one s learning trials over time rather than cramming a large amount of content into a minuscule interval of time (Matlin, 2012). The testing effect argues that taking a test or practice test boosts long term memory for academic material (Matlin, 2012). These three memory improvement strategies emphasize on aspects of practice in order to enhance the memory that one can use in everyday life. John is a junior at Grand Canyon University majoring in Christian Studies and Psychology. In order for John to maintain good grades in his classes, John takes advantage of the distributed practice effect, total time hypothesis, and testing effect to ensure he exceeds his exams. Total time Hypothesis Total time hypothesis simply says how much somebody learns depends on the time devoted to learning (Matlin, 2012). In general cases, this hypothesis has been proven valid and it is common for people to assume. However, there are many issues with this idea. This method focuses on the quantity aspects of studying instead of the quality of studying. Researchers contend the number of hours spent studying is not a variable that can be used to predict the grade point average of a student (Matlin, 2012). For many students, reading and rereading their lecture notes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Global Warming And Greenhouse Effect The greenhouse effect is caused by the emission of greenhouse gases which prevent the outgoing radiation of the sun from returning back into space. This entrapped energy of the sun results in the excessive heating up of the earth, and causes the much spoken about phenomenon of global warming, thus exhibiting the relation between global warming and the greenhouse effect. Introduction: The greenhouse effect is a natural warming process of the earth. The theory is that when the sun s energy reaches the earth, some of it is reflected back to space while the rest is absorbed. The absorbed energy warms the earth s surface which then emits heat energy back toward space in the form of long wave radiation. This outgoing radiation is partially trapped by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor which then radiate the energy in all directions, warming the earth s surface and atmosphere. What is Global Warming?: What happens when too much carbon dioxide goes into the Earth s atmosphere? The condition known as Global Warming occurs. Global Warming is the rising of the Earth s surface temperature due to chemicals in the atmosphere. Global Warming has many threats on the climate and even the health of the people on this planet. Some of these threats include the altering of crop seasons and even affect the way organisms survive on the planet. Troubling facts about the greenhouse effect include that the increasing amounts of greenhouse gases intensify the greenhouse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You only get one opportunity at this life and Bukowski wants the reader to use it. . you can t beat death but/you can beat death in life, sometimes. ( Bukowski 12 13). Once the reader realizes this they will become happier and live a life full of purpose. and the more often you learn to do it,/the more light there will be./your life is your life. ( Bukowski 14 16). • 7. The Trojan Women ( 1971 ) The movie The Trojan Women (1971) is a successful and compelling contemporary adaption of the tragedy The Trojan Women, written by Euripides. Overall, the film follows the whole plot very well and depicts the main characters of Euripides work expressly, especially characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen. Although the director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience can feel Trojan women s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble. The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning, the play starts with the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon describes the aftermath of the war and the bleak scene, giving out a background story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the Trojan side. In contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena s role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to the audience the background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly just speaking, while the chorus in the play sings in between every act. The chorus is used to switch to the next act and to tell the background. However, the film is quite fluent without excess singings of the chorus, because the movie is easy to change the location, time, and setting smoothly. Small changes like these two parts do not affect the big picture. Instead of these small changes, characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen in the film, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The game of soccer was originally played with an inflated animal bladder that was surrounded with leather (Leibs 67). Just as in every sport, as time evolves, so do the materials being played with. The materials begin becoming more durable, controllable, and affordable. During the Renaissance period, many sports were evolved and took a turn for the better. As time evolved, the ball was eventually made out of a leather material. With this leather material, the ball became more durable and controllable. The rules back in the Renaissance were way different than the rules today. During the Renaissance, the game was commonly played between two streets, 27 men played on each side, and there were no strict rules or penalties. These rules impacted today s in many different ways. Today, a field is 100 yards long and 60 yards wide. There are only 11 players on each team, and there are many strict rules. If it were not for the Renaissance period, Soccer would have never evolved into the great sport that many people love today. Many people enjoyed this sport during the Renaissance, which led to the popularity of the sport today. Soccer is probably the most popular sport in the world, though it is most popular in European, African, and Latin American nations ( Soccer ). Just like soccer, another sport that greatly influenced the modern day was Lawn Bowling. Lawn Bowling, also known as Bowls, influenced today s modern sport called Bocce Ball. Bowls originated from the Romans and Descended from the universal pastime of throwing rocks or pebbles at targets on the ground (Leibs 73). By the beginning of the Renaissance, this sport was popular among all classes of society. Some popular equipment that was used in the game was weighted balls, the jack, and the Trigg. In 2016 alone, more than 4,599,000,000 hours of porn were consumed on the world s largest porn site (Lazzaro, 2017). This statistic is shocking, in that, one year only has 8760 hours in it for one individual. That means that these hours would make up 5,246 centuries of time spent watching pornography in one year. These numbers are astronomical, and porn continues to create billions of dollars in revenue with some numbers estimating that in 2016 the porn industry as a whole took in 97 billion dollars worldwide (Fredrickson 2007). It is defined as A right act is the action a virtuous person would do in the same circumstances (citation). In other words, what would Jesus, or some other person acting morally, do given a similar situation. Virtue ethics is much more concerned with the perfection of the individual and working to get people to act their most moral. Using the normative ethical system specified in your selection, provide detailed argumentation to support the position ( for or against ) in your selection regarding the moral issue. While you may want to incorporate empirical data as part of your arguments, do not do so excessively. Virtue ethics would be staunchly opposed to the problem of pornography. Pornography is an outgrowth of a very normal human necessity to procreate, but it becomes hijacked and creates an unhealthy amount of lust in an individual. Also, given the awful conditions and experiences that so many of the actors suffer when creating the product, its immense evil becomes a clear moral problem. It is a problem though, that must be dealt with on an individual level, as the statistics show, there is an immense market for this material, and the only way to really fight this kind of evil, is for the individual who is currently on porn, to get off of it. Then work to help others get off and stay off in their community. Otherwise, there is really not going to be one easy way to stop this epidemic in America. Virtue ethics is also the perfect system to help fight this problem because Virtue ethics sees the role of moral theory as being concerned with strategies for perfecting human nature and for helping individuals become well developed human beings (Stewart, Blocker, Petrik 2013). With all of the problems that where listed, it is clear that the problem with pornography is something that is creating far more problems for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Operational Safety Management System INTRODUCTION Any well designed safety program or system is only as effective as the day to day ability of everyone in the organisation to rigorously follow procedures correctly and safely every time. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009: p.147) This statement is based on organisational discipline or each worker as having the self restraint to perform every task required. Angiullo supports the statement by discussing the operational safety management system in three core areas: leadership characteristics; well defined and followed management processes; and maintenance of high standards. Organisations only fully conform to organisational discipline when these three areas are effectively implemented within the organisation. (Angiullo in Hopkins, 2009). This essay will discuss why it is believed to be an utopian statement by comparing the core areas against the AS/NZ 4801:2001 Occupational health and safety management systems specification with guidance for use and supporting literature. LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS An organisation s managerial leadership and commitment is defined from the top levels and filters through to the front line worker. Leadership inspires and motivates only when it is consistent. What management do or do not do including providing resources, their personal actions or the method of communication can motivate or demotivate workers (Cutchfield, Roughton 2014). How Did St Paul Influence Religion Saint Paul is one of the most influential people in the Catholic Church to date, as he is one of the leaders of the first generation of Christians, he has travelled countless of miles for his missionaries, and he has converted thousands upon thousands of people into Christians; that is just the beginning. It all started where St Paul came from: Tarsus, a major city in eastern Cilicia now known as eastern¬ Turkey, his trade was tent making, which he continued to practice after his conversion to Christianity. St Paul became a missionary to connect to God easier, and to teach people about God and convert people into the Christian life. As Paul became a missionary, he furthered his understanding of God, and furthered the understanding of God to other people, resulting in a large increase of Christian faith and believers. St Paul wrote many letters to the public about God and how to broaden their faith of God. An instance of one of St Paul s letters is Galatians. His purpose of writing this letter to Galatia, was to make sure they were on the path of truth and not led off into deceiving the wrong thing about God. This letter was written in an aggressive tone, showing just how important it was to him that the people embrace unity in Christ. Another example of a writing of Paul is Ephesians. Mother Goddess In Greek God The definition of the Mother Goddess is that she represents or is a personification of nature, motherhood, fertility, creation, destruction, or who embodies the bounty of the earth. Gaia, the first Greek God, is the primordial deity in the Ancient Greek pantheon and considered a Mother Goddess or Great Goddess. Some attributes of Gaia are that she is the Earth, fruits, a primal Mother Goddess, complete in herself. I believe that if the Mother Goddess was once again the most popular spirituality on the planet, things would change drastically. For example, men would be more in touch with their emotions it would be normal and not shunned or looked down upon. In today s world, for some reason men think that they have something to prove, they think that they need to be the bread winners. If they are anything less than that then they feel weak and incompetent. I believe that if The Mother Goddess was worshiped now men wouldn t feel so entitled. It portrays and accurately accounts the events that took place in the 1920 s during the suffragist movement lead by Alice Paul. Paul works alongside her friend, Lucy Burns and many other activists in an attempt to gain the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Visual effects were used throughout the entirety of the film to emphasise the theme of despair, which features. These effects include the montage and close up shot in the opening scene, the quick cutting in the picketing scene, and the close up shot and lighting in the force feeding scene. The opening scene features visual effects in order to emphasise the theme of despair in the film. Initially we are introduced to the character of Alice Paul with a long shot of her on a swing. The shot appears as a horror film, setting off a daunting tone. We are then eventually displayed with a montage of flash forwards and flash backs into Alice s future and past. A close up is used of Alice s eye, which appears fearful and exhausted, blood shot and struggling to remain open. This sets an initial sense of despair. Following this the montage features sped up passing storm clouds to foreshadow the darkness and despair to come. Due to constant need of tissue regeneration, it has abundant number of stem cells. Hair follicle consist of a permanent portion sebaceous gland and below it is a bulge area, which houses Hair follicle epidermal stem cells(HFSCs). Bulge also provides niche for melanocyte stem cells interspersed between HFSCs. Behavior of the two stem cells is well coordinated. Differentiating melanocytes transfer pigment to terminally differentiated hair follicles (Nishimura et al., 2002; Tanimura et al., 2011; Rabbani et al., 2011).Hair follicle undergoes cyclical bouts of 3 phases anagen (phase of active growth), catagen (destruction phase) and telogen (rest phase) (Hardy, 1992). HFSCs give rise to daughter stem cells which are retained in the bulge area and others form, either epidermal progenitors which migrate upwards during tissue repair or it forms hair matrix progenitors which migrate below to form hair shaft (Niemann Watt 2002; Oshima et al., 2001; Taylor et al. 2000). In early 1990s, HFSCs were located in the bulge region by label retention studies (Cotsarelis et al., 1990; Morris and Potten, 1994). Islam came to influence during the 7th century there were key characteristics that led to the Islamic Empire becoming one of the greatest civilisations of the era. During this initial period of Islam there were crucial elements that influenced the direction of the Islamic world. These were the emergence of caliphates and the rise of ruling dynasties, the rapid expansion of Islamic territories through trade and conquest, and finally the development of cultural, intellectual and scientific collaboration and exchange. The prophet Muhammad and Islam, brought about an age of unification for the people of the Arabian Peninsula. • 38. Conquest Of Constantinople Research Paper The conquest of Constantinople was wrongly justified and resulted with the fall of the Byzantine Empire. The Fourth Crusade began when the Crusaders went to Venice to ask for ships to sail to Egypt but was unable to afford it. In exchange for ships, the Crusaders agreed to regain the city of Zara under Hungarian rule. The Crusaders were able to claim back Zara for the Venetians but were excommunicated since they attacked a Christian city. Right before they were going to Egypt, Alexius Comnenus asked for help from the Crusaders to help him restore his power in the Byzantine Empire. In exchange for help, Alexius would provide the Crusaders, supplies, ships and necessary help for the siege of Jerusalem. In 1203, the Crusaders would band with ... Time and time again in the conquest of Constantinople, the Crusaders would wrongly justify their attacks in the name of God or righteousness. The Fourth Crusade was initiated based on greed and the idea the Crusaders could gain more for their siege of the Holy Land. The Crusaders chose to attack Zara, a Christian city to get ships against the pleasing of the Pope. BSM179 Oil Gas Economics ABSTRACT Natural gas is finding its place at the very heart of the energy discussions. The recent discoveries of quite a substantial amount of natural gas in the U.S.A, primarily as a result of the shale gas development, have attracted much interest towards natural gas as a key component of energy supply and have lowered prices well below recent expectations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GLOBAL GAS MARKETS Source: Waterborne, US FERC (prices as of 7th June 2013). Traditionally, world gas markets have operated as three largely self contained regions. These are comprised of the Americas; Europe, Africa, and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Far East and Middle East. These regions enjoyed limited interconnectivity and each region developed its own distinctive supply/demand and pricing dynamics. In the Americas, prices are determined by short term contracts indexed to the primary market prices set at the Henry Hub. In Europe, prices are mostly determined by long term contracts based on the next best alternative, typically indexed against fuel oil and heating oil prices. In the Middle and Far East, pricing is also typically based on long term contracts, indexed to a mix of oil prices, but within a defined range and often at higher levels compared to Europe. These different pricing models have, to date, resulted in very different price levels and price volatility between the regions. North American natural gas prices now hover at $4/MMBtu, down from highs in the $10/ MMBtu to $13/MMBtu range just a few years ago. In Europe, demand for additional gas continues to accelerate, driven by the depletion of conven¬tional gas, on going environmental concerns (particularly the growing consensus against shale gas) and the Fukushima disaster s impact on the role of nuclear power. ... The most suitable way to code the data would be assigning numerical values to the options of answers in the multiple choice questions. Since there is a possibility of more than one answer to every question, then it would be right to construct number of variables equal to the number of options to questions 1 4 and 7. Variable corresponding to questions like 5a, 6, and 8 11) will contain different numeric characteristics, each corresponding to the available option. Prices rose so fast that workers had to take shopping breaks to spend their twice a day paychecks before they became worthless (Schiller, 2013). During this time of inflation, prices more than doubled every day causing people the inability to save, invest, lend money, or make any long term plans. According to B. R. There are a several ways to measure inflation The GDP deflator, the Product Price Index, or the Consumer Price Index. The GDP deflator is a price index that refers to all goods and services included in GDP. The Product Price Index program measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the Product Price Index are from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services. • 47. The American Slave Trade, By Nathaniel Bacon We must defend ourselves against all Indians in general, for that they are all enemies, Nathaniel Bacon said to a crowd of working class Virginians on the eve of the rebellion. In the summer of 1676, Nathaniel Bacon led a group of men through Indian reservations, protesting the unfair Indian policy and land grants of that time. There was not much fertile land within the colony due to the growth of tobacco, and Bacon believed the Indians were undeserving of their large reservations. In protest of the unjust laws set in place, Bacon led an army of angry indentured servants, slaves and poor free men into executing heinous crimes against the Indian race as a whole. The men believed they were fighting against a system that promoted servitude, but Bacon used his rebellion as a way of fighting against the Natives, who he believed were evil. Bacon s rebellion, an act of civil disobedience failed to benefit the working class but instead became a gateway for the emergence of the American Slave trade, impacting interracial encounters until today. During the 1670 s, the colony of Virginia struggled to create their identity as they heavily depended on tobacco for a source of income. In this early period of colonization, indentured servitude was the most common source of cheap labor, an occupation in which both whites and blacks struggled to thrive in. Because of this, both races experienced a common enemy: the wealthy planter. Critically acclaimed author and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After some quick research, I have come to disagree. Even though we are a powerful country, we seem to be divided amongst our people by some particular reasons. After some further research, I have come to conclude that these reasons are;Political problems, unhealthy food, and the fact that other countries have what we have. You may be thinking, How would this cause someone to leave the country, and how could some of these reasons separate us as a country? Well, I think so for these particular reasons. Starting off, it is a known fact that politics affect everyday life. So if you have political problems, than it is going to have a negative impact on everyday life. Not only that, but it covers such broad aspect of life, and will affect almost EVERY SINGLE PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE. To give an example, if there are bias and inequality in politics, it will definitely affect the people on the other end of the sword. Ironically, this does happen, through racism, and mistreatment of the LGBTQ s. Racism has been a thing in America ever since our freedom from England. From American slavery to segregation, it was almost considered edicate to dislike and mistreat blacks and mexicans. Now that segregation is illegal, and illegal working conditions for mexican immigrants isn t as big as a problem, people think that racism doesn t exist. Well, looking at examples through history, you can t kill a culture with laws, and this isn t an exception. My older sister and father have both been called derogatory and racist names growing up. A lady opened up her house to victims in the Las Vegas shooting to help, but she wouldn t allow any blacks or gays. There are also countless videos online of people being racist. Two that come to mind is when a lady wouldn t let her child be seen by a black doctor, and one woman called a black man racist names and spit on him.
