Essay On Beowulf
Writing an essay on the topic of Beowulf can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand,
the epic poem itself is a complex and intricate piece of literature, with layers of meaning and
symbolism that require careful analysis. The historical and cultural context of the story adds
another layer of complexity, as understanding the society in which Beowulf was composed is
crucial for interpreting its themes.
Moreover, the character development in Beowulf is nuanced, and exploring the motivations and
actions of the protagonist, as well as other key figures, demands a keen literary insight. Delving
into the poetic devices and linguistic nuances of Old English adds an additional layer of
difficulty, especially for those unfamiliar with this archaic form of the language.
Crafting a coherent and insightful essay on Beowulf requires not only a deep understanding of
the text but also the ability to synthesize information, draw connections between different
elements, and present a well-structured argument. Additionally, it's essential to engage with
existing scholarly discussions surrounding Beowulf, adding an academic dimension to the essay.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing about Beowulf can be immensely rewarding.
Unraveling the layers of meaning within the epic poem allows for a deeper appreciation of its
literary richness and cultural significance. Successfully navigating the complexities of Beowulf in
an essay showcases analytical and critical thinking skills, demonstrating the writer's ability to
grapple with challenging texts.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on Beowulf requires dedication, scholarly rigor, and a genuine
passion for literary analysis. The task is not without its difficulties, but the insights gained
through the process make it a valuable and intellectually stimulating endeavor.

Kate Attract In Kate Chopin s The Storm
Kate Chopin s The Storm suggests, through the use of characterization, climax, and
tone, that affairs (and storms) are not only terrifying, but liberating. She
demonstrates that the storm which rages within us can be particularly greater than
actual events it self. As the storm is just about to arrive, so too does AlcГ©e. So, in
many ways the storm mirrors the passionate encounter between Calixta and AlcГ©e
because that is when Calixta and AlcГ©e once again get comfortable with each other
and end up sleeping together. As the storm passes and the calm returns, AlcГ©e
leaves Calixta s home returning to his home leaving behind a calm Calixta. It is
interesting that rather than having an expected negative effect on their marriages, the
affair appears to have actually brought them closer to their spouses. This is
significant because Chopin is exploring the idea of marriage or at... Show more

First, Chopin uses the characterization for Calixta (the wife) and Alcee (the former
lover). Chopin first tells us that while Calixta seems happily married, she did once
have an old flame with Alcee. Although it is stated that she had not seen him since
getting married; it was interpreted that she wanted to strike up old topics whilst
talking about an old storm . When Alcee is settled into Calixta s home, he doesn t
necessarily try to have the normal let s catch up talk, he has the let s catch up talk. It
is then confirmed after Do you remember in Assumption, Calixta? he asked in a low
voice broken by passion. Oh! she remembered; for in
Hart Team America
Ms. Hart and a student on Team America were both assessing a mathematical
expression which consists of dividing decimals: 146.4 Г· 0.32. Bewildered at the
difficulty of the problem, they each evaluated the expression. However, the student
had analyzed a differentiated solution. Most students would directly assume that Ms.
Hart, as a teacher, would have the correct resolution. On the contrary, the student
claimed she was accurate. Who will stand corrected? In order to precisely evaluate
an expression involving the division of decimals, there are certain steps to ensure
success:
If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to the right to make it a
whole number and move decimal point in dividend the same number of places.
Divide as usual.

Hart and the student s work, the miscalculation is pointed out. The student has
correctly analyzed the first step. Conversely, the teacher mistakenly divided 146.4 by
100 instead of multiplication, placing one of the main components of her expression
to be 1.464 incorrect. This affects every step after, although the operation and method
used is correct. Nevertheless, the student may still be wrong as well.
Continuing the process of evaluating the expression, the next step is to divide as
usual. Following the standard process of dividing whole numbers, the exact quotient
received should be 457.5. With step 3 already done, the final action would be to
check the answer. That can be done with the inverse operation of division,
multiplication. 457.5 Г— 0.32 = 146.4. This proves that 457.5 is the error free,
precise quotient.
Evidently supported by a carefully checked run through of the steps needed, the
student has received the honor of evaluating the expression accurately. Ms. Hart had
erroneously used the wrong equation on step 1. Everyone makes mistakes! This
depicts how using the right strategy and checking after each move can lead to
conquering the expression and a genius, mathematical

Where Raskolnikov lives in St. Petersburg is a crowded, filthy and run down area.
The streets near his garret are always filled with drunks and tradesmen. Rivers and
canals run through different parts of the city.
Raskolnikov lives in a garret of a five story house. His living conditions aren t great
and he lives in constant fear of his landlady. His room is extremely small and he
sleeps on an old, run down couch.
The pawnbroker is a small unkempt 60 year old woman named Alyona Ivanovna. She
wore tattered, old and dirty clothing. Raskolnikov dislikes her because he believes
she cheats the poor out of their money.

She also says that Dounia, after lots of consideration, has decided to marry another
man, named Pyotr Petrovich Luzhin. However, Luzhin wants to marry Dounia
because she s poor and wants to be called her savior. She tells him that she, Dounia
and Luzhin will be coming to St. Petersburg soon. After reading the letter,
Raskolnikov is distressed, bitter and wrathful. He walked through his town after
reading the letter and is mistaken for being drunk because he muttered things under
his breath.
Raskolnikov sees Sonia s and Dounia s lifestyles as being similar, they both have
given their lives up for the people they love. Sonia became a prostitute to support
her father and her family and Dounia is marrying a man that she knows that once
they are married can help Raskolnikov with his profession. Both these women don t
really want to do these things, but they do it because they know in the long run it will
benefit the people they love the most, their families.
On a walk contemplating his mother s letter, Raskolnikov discovers an older man
pursuing a very drunk, very young girl. Although he wants the girl to be safe,
Raskolnikov doesn t want to do it himself. He watches the girl and even gets in a
fight over the topic but he doesn t do anything himself , instead he pays a police
officer to bring her home. This shows that even though he doesn t have a great

Oppression In Ireland
War, oppression, and massacres. All three took place in English led Ireland during
the Victorian Era, and all three were caused by a few differences in beliefs on how
to worship the same God. Mainly due to the evangelization of St. Patrick, the Irish
people were devoutly Catholic while their English rulers followed a Protestant
Church called the Anglican Church of England. Since the Anglican Church was so
dominant in England, the Irish Catholics received very poor treatment from the
Protestants in England causing things like the Irish Potato Famine and the Bloody
Sunday and Bloody Friday massacres. However, the Irish peoplewere by no means
silent under this oppression, leading to many rebellions. Due to the dominance of
Protestantism in England... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Irish English combat was one of the bloodiest religious wars of all time and
led to many deaths. To make things worse, all of these battles stemmed from a few
different beliefs on how to worship the same God. This led to England ignoring the
Irish when they were in trouble and killing them when they fought back. However,
all of this acrimony is not distinct to Victorian England; rather, religious hostility is a
common occurrence that extends its reaches into the modern world and always
leads to war torn areas of the world like the Middle East. England s relationship with
Ireland shows a prevalent historical theme of how religious nationalism leads to
conflicts that always draw

Taxi Driver Social Context
Taxi Driver, a 1976 thriller directed by Martin Scorsese grants onlookers a grimy
view into the lonely, slowly deteriorating life of the disturbed New York City cabbie
Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), a Vietnam War veteran. Viewers are guided through
Bickle s take on N.Y.C. through the masterful use of aesthetically pleasing camera
techniques such as the rule of thirds that bring focus onto the characters onscreen
without causing the eye discomfort. Sound choices further immerse the audience in
the buildup to and execution of up close, violent, and mental action that ensues later
in Travis story. However, Travis focused story is not simply delivered through some
indescribable magic of film. To fully appreciate how Taxi Driveris put together...

One example of the camera s use of leading lines is visible in the scene where
Bickle asks the all too famous question You talkin to me? (Taxi Driver, 1976) A
vigilant viewer may notice that the background seems to be tilted outwards
leading from the left side of the shot to the right side, with Travis upper body and
head remaining on the right side of the shot. A sensation of being led by the
background to the image of Travis may be noticed by the viewer, as the angle of
said background tilts towards Travis image. Making use of this technique both
accents and emphasizes Bickle s presence onscreen. Leading lines camerawork does
not disappear from the film, either. It enhances around three quarters of the scenes
where some story related event occurs. This technique draws more attention to the
story, as it leads the viewer s eye to many of the characters/ events occurring
The Human Female, Pregnancy, And The Birth Of One Or
More...
For the human female, pregnancy is a period of time that is celebrated in most
cultures. However, reaching the point where a pregnancy successfully results in the
birth of one or more healthy offspring can take more than one attempt. Wilcox et al.
(1988) provided the conservative estimate that thirty one percent of all pregnancies
were unintentionally lost, with twenty two percent of pregnancies being lost before
they were clinically detected using delicate detection of hCG hormone levels in a
sample the pregnant woman s urine. There are many unique health risks, such as a
woman being diagnosed with endometriosis, that increase a woman s chances of
having a spontaneous abortion(Santulli et al., 2016). But for healthy women without
any observable health risks, for the rate of spontaneous to be abortion this high when
healthcare is arguably the best it has ever been in all human history makes it is worth
examining the possibility that spontaneous abortion might carry an evolutionary
advantage for humans that doesn t make sense in a simply modern context. Before
looking at the potential factors that cause a woman to have a spontaneous abortion, it
would be beneficial to examine the parameters that define an atypical pregnancy. It is
simple to define a typical human pregnancy as the birth of one healthy child per
gestation, so an atypical pregnancy would result in something different. A common
variation that occurs in human pregnancy is the gestation of multiple fetuses.
A Surreal Moment Of My Surprise
A Surreal Moment
My heart was pounding, the ballroom was silent and there I was standing in the top
two on the Miss Teen USA stage. All of my hard work and dedication had paid off
in that moment. As I was standing there hand in hand with Miss California Teen, I
felt like I had been there before. I had dreamed about this moment but never
expected it to really happen. Strangely, I had a sense of peace I knew something big
was about to happen, and that my life was about to change. The crown was placed on
my head, tears ran down my face, and I took my first walk as Miss Teen USA. It all
started when I was fourteen years old and after much encouragement from others I
decided to compete in the Miss Louisiana Teen USApageant. As the youngest
contestant, I felt I was at a disadvantage but decided to do it for the experience. To
my surprise, I was crowned the youngest ever Miss Louisiana Teen USA in
October of my freshman year of high school. I was now qualified to compete for
the title of Miss Teen USA and had ten months to prepare while also representing the
state of Louisiana at numerous charity events. There was much more preparation
than just getting on stage in front of thousands of people in a beautiful gown. I had
to learn how to do my own makeup and hair, work on interview skills, have an
evening gown and swimsuit routine and be prepared to answer an on stage question
which was my greatest fear. Being a high school freshman and juggling
Compare And Contrast Corie And Bestie
The two main characters are very different people, Betsie is a very composed, and
smart while Corrie is brave and hopeful. Bestie is very strong in her faith, and I
think Corrie can learn a lot from her. Corrie tries her best to be strong like Betsie in
faith. These characters were very compassionate towards others. They liked to take
care of other people and they tried to help a lot of people. They feared some of the
guards and people, but they understood why these people were acting the way they
were. Betsie really wanted to help these people, so even though they were scared
they still wanted to help. In comparison, these characters were very different
physically. Bestie was older, and she suffers from Pernicious Anemia which means as
Heart Of Darkness Stereotypes Essay
Joseph Conrad once said, The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary;
men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. (Conrad, 1911) One of the greatest
evils in this world are stereotypes. They restrict certain races, genders, ethnicities, and
so forth into groups that reflect the judgements of what other people think of them.
When one thinks of Africa, one thinks of tribes, uncivilized indigenous peoples,
starvation, HIV/AIDS, disease, and poverty. Although these are frequently found in
the continent, it does not reflect the beauty of the savannas, the uniqueness of the
culture, or the abundance of natural resources. In the novella Heart of Darkness,
Conrad reinforces the stereotypes about Africa by going into great depths... Show

Stereotypes allow one to think of indigenous peoples as uncivilized or
unmodernized . Throughout the entire novella not a single African is referred to
by their name or even as human, only the white men are. This contrast is shown
when Conrad says, It was a distinct glimpse: the dugout, four paddling savages, and
the lone white man turning his back suddenly on the headquarters, on relief, on
thoughts of home perhaps; setting his face towards the depth of the wilderness,
towards his empty and desolate station. (Conrad, page 51) Another well known
quote from the novella is Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad, page 83) in which
Kurtz believes the only way to fix Africa is to rid it of all it s people which he
certainly tries to by decapitating many of the natives, absolutely demoralizing the
point of the journey. These terms savages and brutes completely degrade a person
and strip them of their identities. Conrad also says, He ought to have been clapping
his hands and stamping his feet on the bank... (Conrad, page 59) which shows
there were already expectations for the Africans. However, Achebe reflects on the
end of the previous quote, instead of which he was hard at work... (Conrad, page
59), claiming this is the first time Conrad has given us one of his rare descriptions
of an African who is not just limbs or rolling eyes. (Achebe, page 3),

Programming is a time consuming process since every step needs to be defined.
To be more efficient, developers try hard to not repeat code they have written
which still works. The Unix and NodeJS community embrace this by creating and
distributing small, reusable modules. Almost every app that I have seen the source
code for has third party modules being used. It may sometimes be foolish to
reinvent the wheel, however, software developers should when an existing library
cannot support a use case or for a learning experience. Developers should reinvent the
wheel when an existing library can not support their use case or when they need a
better solution. Programmers are expensive, and it is time consuming to write code,
test it, and handle all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developers eventually build abstractions or tools over systems or libraries. Those
tools make it easier and quicker to develop an app, but they hide what is going on
behind the scenes. Understanding how the abstractions and tools work behind the
scene is important when debugging or using features that the abstraction or tool
was not originally designed for. One way to better understand them is to reinvent
the wheel. Mary Cook, a developer from the UK, wanted to better understand Git.
She did extensive research on how Git works and recreated it in javascript
(Maryrosecook/gitlet). She now has a thorough understanding of what git does and
writes blog posts to help other programmers understand too. Another example is
zodern screenshots. The developer had been using Meteor.js but decided to
reevaluate that decision by creating an app without Meteor. Meteor is a collection
of packages that are designed to work well together. He took similar packages and
attempted creating a tool with similar functions as Meteor. The tool he created is
nowhere near as powerful as Meteor, but it helped him to learn how most developers
do things and the benefit of using Meteor. Recreating the wheel is a sound way to

Crime And Punishment, By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Throughout history, humanity has accomplished feats of extraordinary significance;
conquering vast expanses of territory, developing technology that would be destined
to alter the world for the better. Yet, is humankind homogeneous? Or are there some
among us who are predisposed to hold a higher status than all else? During the late
19th century, two great minds pondered this question. Friedrich Nietzsche wrote of
an Гњbermensch, a man who could rise above worldly moralityand impose his will
upon anything he saw fit. Specifically, the Гњbermensch is not bound by moral or
ethical codes, and he has to power to create his own. Parallel to this idea, Fyodor
Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment analyzes the repercussions of one s actions
when said person attempts to dispose himself from the moral guide of society, known
as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rhodia Raskolnikov sees himself as an Гњbermensch, taking it upon himself to
murder a pawnbroker, and inadvertently her sister, in cold blood; simply because he
views himself as above the average person in society. Raskolnikov s actions, both
leading up to his crime and his subsequent attempts at evasion of punishment illustrate
a powerful message for humanity past, present, and future. Immediately after the
killings, Raskolnikov is overtaken by guilt, ultimately succumbing to hysteria, leading
to both complete delusion and capture. Raskolnikov s actions, and his state of mind,
indicate that there can be no Гњbermensch; no person is above society, and no person
can remove himself from the laws that govern the world and attain Nihilism. Thus,
Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment remains exceptionally important today as it
conveys the concepts of Гњbermensch and Nihilism as impossible to fully achieve, as
seen through the delirium of Rhodia
Astronomy Vs Astrology Research Paper
Astronomy and astrology are very similar, yet different. Astronomy is the study of the
universe and what s inside of it, as well as other universes. Astrology is the study of
how the actions and movements of things in our universe affect what happens on
earth, and people. Although they both deal with the universeand one was founded by
the other, they also have many things that set them apart from one another. This essay
will talk about the differences and similarities of astronomy and astrology and how
each is used.
One of the main differences between astrology and astronomy is that astronomy is
based off of research and facts, while astrology is based on the beliefs. Founded in
Babylon, astrology uses planets and other celestial objects to try to predict the future.
Astrology is not a science, it is the theorem that everything that happens in space
affects what happens to people on earth. Astrology is considered a pseudoscience, or
a belief that is not based on science or the scientific method. ... Show more content on

Astronomers study the planets, stars, and other celestial objects to try to understand
how the universe works. They also study things like collisions, black holes and other
things that could potentially affect earth. Astronomers gain information about objects
in space from telescopes, and satellites. They can also use mathematical equations to
find the positions of planets and stars in our universe. These telescopes and satellites
observe light reflected by things such as planets, meteors, or stars in space and use it
to make observations. Then the Astronomers job is to collect and analyze the data
observed.
Similarities of the two are that astronomy was founded by astrology. Both relate to
the sun, moon, stars, and sometimes their actions such as orbiting. Also, they both
require observations of the universe. They will always be related because they have
similar characteristics and were founded on the same

Billy experiences many hard times throughout this novel. One of the biggest
themes in this novel is God. Billy always prays out to God whenever he is faced

God to help me get two hound pups. It wasn t much of a prayer, but it did come

Natural Science Vs Religion
Natural science and religion are two areas of knowledge that perceive knowledge
using ways of knowing differently to pursue its knowledge, an example of that would
be Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection and evolution. In natural
science, the theory of natural selection is derived from studying the common features
in the bone structure of vertebrate limbs despite its varied use. Therefore, using
deductive reasoning, they established the evolutiontheory which states that humans
evolved from apes due to the fact that humanand apes have similar features and that
human has evolved due to adaptation and survival of genes. However, religion, using
not only intuition and emotions but also reason disagrees with the claim of evolution.

Architecture And Its Related Domical And Arched
Structures
Vaulted architecture and its related domical and arched structures are amongst the
most substantial Roman contributions to architectural knowledge throughout history.
The significance of their accomplishments and innovations in engineering are proven
by structures such as the vaulted and domed structures at Hadrian s Villa (ca 118
138CE) and Trajan s Markets (ca 105 10 CE) , which, after millennia still seem
everlasting. The notion of curved architecture did not originate with the Romans ,
thus one begs to question how the vaulted structure became so successful as a
contributor and staple of Roman architecture?
Arch forms were first introduced to the Romans by the Etruscans and were
established from a standpoint of practicality. Existing building elements such as the
widely used column, could only sustain the weight placed directly above it;
therefore a second vertical element was required for the support of a horizontal
spanning element, as a result the spanning distance was limited. Vaulted structures
however, are capable of distributing load over a wider area; the expansion from its
base and extrusion outwards also portray a more unified and dynamic quality. The
vault, as a result, became more widely accepted; used predominantly as the roofs or
ceiling of a structure. The barrel vault was the most fundamental of these forms, more
sophisticated developments such as the groin vault and domical vault were utilised in
Trajan s Markets and Hadrian s Villa respectively.

One can also consider why there are now so many overnight mail carriers such as
United Parcel Service and Airborne Express. The second example pertains to the exit
from an industry, specifically, the airline industry in the United States. Pan Am, a
pioneer in public air transportation, is no longer in operation, while some airlines
such as TWA (Trans World Airlines) are on the verge of exiting the airlines industry.
Why, then, have many airlines that operate on international routes fallen on hard
times, while small regional airlines seem to be doing just fine? Managerial economics
provides answers to these questions.
In order to answer pertinent questions, managerial economics applies economic
theories, tools, and techniques to administrative and business decision making. The
first step in the decision making process is to collect relevant economic data
carefully and to organize the economic information contained in data collected in
such a way as to establish a clear basis for managerial decisions. The goals of the
particular business organization must then be clearly spelled out. Based on these
stated goals, suitable managerial objectives are formulated. The issue of central
concern in the decision making process is that the desired objectives be reached in
the best possible manner. The term best in the decision making context primarily
refers to achieving the goals in the most efficient
A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic
greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood.
Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive
systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and
adaptive mechanisms of climateand our capacity for designing efficient climate
adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting
of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the
natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in
the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical
capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the
dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks
and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial
dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents
(Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the
uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate changes impact on economic
productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency
Working Group on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the
stochastic nature of the climate and economic systems. Recent work, such as that of

Speech On Drinking And Driving
Me and my family are very close we see eachother everyday and my grandma or
mom, of tia (aunt) will cook dinner so we went to my uncle s house and we got
done eating and we were just talking and we got a call. My cousin britanya was
gonna go out with her friends one night and we got a call from the police saying
she had passed away from a car accident, she was drinking and driving it was very
devastating to know that that is how she died she ran into a pole and it crushed her
from the inside out, it was a very a very hard loss for the family. Losing her was a
big eye opener because many people die, from drinking and driving. You never know
how it feels when somebody loses somebody that way, but when it happens to your

speak and it damages memory loss it could damage anything from just two drinks

memory loss and can cause u to react to thing slower and impaired memory. U
should be able to remember your memories and for whoever is willing to give that

maybe you have had a bad memory and you are drinking and that is your decision

very serious matter, 14,000 teens die each year from alcohol like car crashes or

Kidney Disease Can Affect Children In Various Ways,
Ranging
Kidney disease can affect children in various ways, ranging from treatable disorders
without long term consequences to life threatening conditions. According to Inker et
al. (2014), Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines defines
acute renal failure (ARF) as the sudden loss of kidneyfunction, generally occurring
over the course of hours to days and resulting in the retention of metabolic waste
products and dysregulation of fluid, electrolyte, and acid base homeostasis. The
purpose of this paper is to describe pathophysiology of ARF, to discuss specific
developmental impact on adolescents with ARF, to review the different teaching
methods for family and adolescents to increase compliance, and to identify different...

Like adults, most pediatric patients with mild to moderate acute kidney injury are
asymptomatic and are identified on laboratory testing (Rahman et al., 2012). But
pediatric patients with severe cases may be symptomatic and present with oliguria,
edema, fatigue or tiredness, shortness of breath, hypertension, nausea, confusion,
seizures or coma (Rahman et al., 2012). Based primarily on urinalysis and blood
chemistry results BUN, sCreat, sodium, potassium, and calcium levels (London et
al., 2017). The gold standard to diagnose these injuries is kidney biopsy (Faught et
al., 2015).
It is important to identify the disease early because it might be reversible by
stopping the offending agents (Chang et al., 2015; Faught et al., 2015). ARF
results from drug toxicity or dehydration, the prognosis is generally good (London
et al., 2017). However, ARF that results from diseases such as hemolytic uremic
syndrome or acute glomerulonephritis are more likely to develop chronic kidney
disease in the future (London et al., 2017; Rahman et al.; 2012, Vasudevan et al.,
2012). They are also at higher risk of end stage renal disease in later in life (Rahman
et al., 2012). According to Faught et al. (2015), one of the treatment options is to
avoid the use of nephrotoxic drugs, particularly in those at high risk of developing
renal injury. Chang et al. (2015) explained that the initial management of patients
with ARF is a conservative treatment, including prompt

How Is Macbeth Relevant Today
The Modern Relevance of Macbeth There are numerous historical topics and ideas
that consistently have their relevance questioned in the modern world. These
controversial topics include, religious books like the Bible, Martin Luther King Jr s
I Have a Dream. Speech, and many other events in history. One of the most
commonly discussed subjects in relation to relevance is Shakespeare s play Macbeth.
People often say that Macbeth doesn t relate to today s world and culture because
it was written over 400 years ago. Contrary to that belief, Macbeth s complexity
allows it to connect to the modern world better than most of the stories and plays of
today. In Macbeth, Shakespeare displays the themes of corruption, guilt, and the
conflict between fate and free will. All of these themes remain relevant to the 21st
century because human nature has never changed. The first aspect that helps
Macbeth maintain its relevance is the portrayal of corruption through the lead
character, Macbeth. In the beginning of the story, Macbeth is an honest man who is
on good terms with his relative King Duncan. As the story progresses, Macbeth is
corrupted by his desire for power and eventually kills King Duncan for his place on
the throne in Act 2, Scene 1. This same kind of corruption is seen today with... Show

After Macbeth and his wife had gained power by killing multiple people, they were
consumed by guilt from all they had done. This guilt was so immense that both
Macbeth and his wife started to experience visions relating to the murders they had
committed. Every person has experienced guilt at some point in their life. This guilt
could come from something as simple as stealing a dollar bill from someone, or as
horrific as taking someone s life. The feeling and theme of guilt will never lose its
relevance, making it another example of Macbeth s truly timeless
Biology Reflection
As the bell rung for the end of first period, I gathered my things and began to walk
to my second period class, Biology. Biology was always to me the hardest subject I
had ever dealt with because there was so much to learn, study, and truly
understand. I walked through the door into the classroom and I ll never forget the
words I heard my teacher say that caught me so off guard. Get out your notes and
study because you have a test today , he said. As I heard him finish his sentence,
my eyes widen and I quickly moved towards my seat and began to skim over my
notes as fast as I could. I had completely forgot that I had a test in biology.
While reading over my notes, I kept thinking to myself that I just knew I was going
to fail this test. After a couple of minutes of studying, I heard the teach yell 5 more
minutes . I began to skim even faster over my notes. It felt like time was moving so
fast because when I heard my teach yell times up , it seemed as if only 2 minutes
had passed by. He passed out the answer sheet around the classroom and instructed us
to fill out our student ID numbers. I looked over the unfilled answer sheet and
counted the amount of questions. There were 30 questions in total which frightened
me even more because I had to answer 30 questions on information that I barely
studied. Then he handed out the test and I became extremely nervous because not
only did I barely study and there were 30 multiple choice questions, but the
classroom was so cold that

An ethnomethodology will be conducted to understand the relationship between
President Trump and the people of the nation. As ethnomethodology interprets the
opinions of the people, not focusing on what is right or wrong, but how what is
said or done is interpreted. This study will attempt to learn how our President will
influence how the people will respond to him. In America and society in general,
social responses are seemingly just as important as fact based responses. How
America views our president and responds to the president as a nation will give
guidance as to his impact on the country. The interaction of the President and the
people will be essential to understand the ethnomethodology, making sense of these
connections will be crucial. The goal is to understand the practices by which society
make sense of their worlds. To better understand the impact of President Trump, from
an ethnomethodology standpoint, a roundtable conversation will take place. Utilizing
ten to fifteen family members and colleagues, in a combined setting to best interpret
President Trump s impact. Seemingly, as these individuals represent a diverse range
of perspectives, they will be conducive to understanding some of the concerns,
appreciation and disdain for President Trump. Focusing on several key points and
pertinent issues, insight will be gained from a review of the following topics:

Determination And Honesty Of John D. Rockefeller
Determination and Honesty As little kids we often grow up with the crazy idea
that we are going to be a famous celebrity or something like that. We won t let
anything or anyone deter us from our goal, we are unwaveringly set to be that and
will stop at nothing until we grasp that objective. But with time, and with the many
other challenges and setbacks that life brings we stop striving for those goals that
we ourselves set so many years ago. Success doesn t come from what you do
occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently. This saying is getting at one
thing, and one thing only. Determination. When we hear the word we often think of
a lot of famous quotes or sayings. Some may even think of people who at first were

Determination. Determination, is defined as showing effort. It is also defined as
a direction or tendency towards a certain end. In the book Deathwatch by Author
Robb White, determination is what helps keep our main character, Ben, alive as
he is faced with the harsh conditions of the desert. He had to go up. Just that
simple. Up. If we are to remain determined we must continue to go up to keep our
direction focused on just one thing. Ben, as we quickly find out is focused on one
thing and one thing only and that, is survival. Ben s situation begins when a man
that Ben is being a hunting guide for, purposely shoots an old prospector. When
Ben tells the man, whose name is Madec, that they should report the shooting to
the police, Madec becomes very nervous and angry. So much so that he tells Ben
that he will pay for Ben to go to college as long as he does not report the shooting.
This situation can be described as determination, because determination does not
have to be positive like most people think. In the book Madec is determined to
keep Ben from reporting the accidental shooting, he will do anything to keep Ben
at bay, even if it means having to kill him. Wait a minute, didn t any of you hear
what he said? Weren t any of you listening?! this is said by Ben as he is trying to
defend himself from going to jail due to Madec lying and saying that Ben had shot
him because he had gotten angry at Madec for trying to report the killing
William Gibson s Pattern Recognition
Globalization is the process of combining people politically, economically and
culturally into a larger community. Over time, globalization has brought people
together as technological innovation dissolved barriers of time and distance, and
enhanced flows of information promoted greater awareness and understanding
(2002). However, globalizationalso has a negative side to it as it produces economic
and social dislocations. Global mass media, movies and television do not represent
the world and its people in a realistic way, however consumers still learn from
media important perspectives on what life is like. Media often makes it hard for
people to access and imagine the real . The success of neoliberal globalization
depends on what is called, the image which is deployed by media corporations.
These images can create illusions in which the masses can be governed. In William
Gibson s novel, Pattern Recognition, we are given a clear understanding about some
of the cultural problems posed by neoliberal globalization also known as what
Gibson puts it as, logo maze . In The Precession of Simulacra by Jean Baudrillard, he
argues that our postmodern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see them everywhere: on billboards, in magazines, at bus stops, in the mail, on
television, and even in stadiums. Images are everywhere and they are so compelling
that we cannot not watch them. They are very seductive that in fact they have
revolutionized human social communication forever. Oral and written
communication are in decline because a new form of communication has emerged
which is communication by image. For example, a flag works as an image because
it suggests a long history of stories that are buried inside us that will evoke emotions
and memories deep within us. However, today s images have taken on new meanings
in the modern American culture and illustrate the power of today s
Epictetus Aphorism
Epictetus presents many themes through his aphorisms from free will, to the divine
plan and many more. The one that will be focused on today are Value Judgements.
This theme is present in the aphorism I have selected, number 9. The aphorism states
Illness interferes with the body, not with one s faculty of choice, unless that faculty of
choice wishes it to. Lameness interferes with the limb, not with one s faculty of
choice. Say this at each thing that happens to you, since you will find that it interferes
with something else, not with you (Epictetus, The Handbook, 14). This aphorism

each other. Therefore when one factor hinders the body, you must remember you...

Do this for all your circumstances and you recognize that your mind is still present

movies I think represents this idea pretty well, it s called The First $20 Million is
Always the Hardest, it s a story of an upcoming guy in marketing who realizes he
wants more in life. So he quits and has this bold idea, so he starts up a team who is
assigned a task to make a computer for less than $100. Throughout the movie the
team fails numerous times and their idea is rejected by multiple companies.
Needless to say many external factors were working against the characters in the
movie, like lack of resources, and time. But there was a constant will of assessment
as I stated before that the characters had, each time they were rejected they went
back and made the design better and modified it to have more features. This was
done because they knew their minds were greater than the factors that were fighting
against them. Eventually the characters present their design and the main character
says Hi! I m Casper the friendly hologram. I think it was God who said, Let there be

The Importance Of Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is a prerequisite to rationality. This means that there must be a
problem solving mechanism that seeks to conclude on the expected outcomes. As
such, critical thinking is tied around finding solutions to a problem. It is important
to note that there is a bias towards the end result to determine whether critical
thinking was employed. This makes sense because failing to find a solution to a
problem cannot be classified as critical thinking. As Steven Johnson said in Where
Good Ideas Come from, it is important to incorporate critical thinking in a problem
solving process to ensure that the desired outcome is achieved (Johnson, 2010). He
states that good ideas come from chaotic environment, even providing a photo of a...

What is more, critical thinking encompasses the use of various techniques that
translate into an exciting process towards problem solving. As such, Reiter Palmon
and Illies (2004) emphasize that any problem, when handled creatively, translates into
an environment whereby there is engagement, collaboration, and dialogue in the
development of solutions. As a result, when critical thinking is applied effectively, it
assists an individual to create solutions and positive experiences that lead to the
development of new ideas. Further, in reference to Reiter Palmon and Illies (2004),
critical thinking denotes an engaging process that is reliant on the use of various
intellectual skills coupled with activities. The activities and intellectual skills are
focused towards the evaluation of information, making assumptions, and sparking a
thinking process that is disciplined. Hence, an effective critical thinking process is
noteworthy towards ensuring that an individual can assess information
comprehensively. Reiter Palmon and Illies (2004) further believe that critical
thinking is a necessary part of the creative problem process since it assists in the
identification of false ideas that may impede the creation of solutions to various
problems. Critical thinking is equally based on
Hamlet Corruption And Corruption
William Shakespeare s Hamlet According to American novelist, John Irving, in his
work The World According to Garp, is a life redeeming work in which everybody
dies. Death is the pervading theme of the play. (Sheys 2016) The play has many
examples and imagery of corruption, disease, and decay. Corruption in Hamlet is
shown through the many corrupt characters who perform a chain of events that
show greed, manipulation, and revenge. First, Claudius is corrupt because he
killed his brother King Hamlet because he was jealous of his throne and wife. The
ghost then states, And duller shouldst thou be than the fat weed that roots itself in
ease on Lethe wharf, (Hamlet, I.v.33 34) to compare him too a fat weed that ll
corrupt the garden that is the State of Denmark. He also states, My custom always
of the afternoon, Upon my secure hour thy uncle stole With juice of cursed
hebenon in a vial, And in the porches of my ears did pour the leperous distilment,
whose effect Holds such an enmity with blood of man That swift as quicksilver it
courses through The natural gates and alleys of the body And with a sudden vigor
doth posset And curd, like eager droppings into milk, The thin and wholesome
blood. So did it mine. And a most instant tetter barked about, Most lazar like, with
vile and loathsome crust all my smooth body. (Hamlet, I.v.60 74) Basically saying
that Claudius corrupted his body when he killed him. Gertrude, Hamlet s mother,
is also corrupted because she fell for Claudius after her husband died and refused
to see her wrongdoings even though they her Hamlet. Ultimately the ghost ends up
corrupting Hamlet by putting revenge into his head. If thou didst ever thy dear
father love Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder. (Hamlet, I.v.23.25)
Ophelia easily gives away her love letters from Hamlet to Polonius when asked, as
well as allow her father to listen in on their conversation. She is easily manipulated
by her father without knowing. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern also are manipulated
by blindly following Claudius instructions to spy on Hamlet when they are
supposed to be his friends. But we both obey, and here give up ourselves, in the full
bent, To lay our service freely at your feet To be commanded.
Second Industrial Revolution In 1850
Socialism was at its peak during the late years of the 1st Industrial Revolution into
the early years of the second Industrial Revolution that started in 1850. As there was
a shift from the oppressive feudal and agrarian systems of the conservative order,
industrial jobs that paid more and produced more capital for the economy became
prominent. Governments were slowly but surely turning into constitutionalized
monarchies, a step up from the absolute monarchies. However the working class still
had most of the short end of the stick when it came to their health and democratic
rights. They were crowded in unsanitary slums, overworked, underpaid for their
labor, and overshadowed by the prioritized wants of the bourgeoisie. Unlike the

superpowers of colonial times such as, Spain, Portugal, Britain, France and the

statistics of social media usage throughout Latin America.
The statistics show that like with the rest of the world, the popularity of social

fact that Facebook claims that 19% of its users are in South America and that Brazil
is home to the second largest number of Facebook users in the world second only the

backed up by the statistic published by emoderation.com, which states that in 2013
there was a jump of 21% in the number of Internet users compared to 2012.
Similarly to Facebook, when it comes to Twitter users Brazil boasts the second
largest of number of users in the world, once again second only to the United States.
While YouTube also state that outside the U.S, Latin America as a whole boasts the

Business Level Strategy Of The Coca Cola Company And
Pepsi
Although business level and corporate level strategies differ in scope, development,
and enforcement, they interact in the achievement of organizational goals.
Consequently, it is important to assess the best strategies that an organization should
adopt as this defines its performance both in the short term and long term. As seen in
this study, the difference in choice of strategy between the Coca Cola Company and
Pepsi define their performance, command, and dominance of the market. The
strategies adopted by a firm ought to be in line with its organizational objective sand
goals. For instance, a long term business strategy affects the performance of the firm

schools would be more ahead with their objectives for the year while others would

though foreign elements give most people a feeling of anxiety, it was something
that I wished for with excitement. By the time I entered fifth grade, marking the

Although I was able to stay in the same public school district up until my senior

`` The Ecstasy Of Influence `` By Jonathan Allen Lethem
New ideas come from everywhere whether they are from people, places, books,
animals, or even come from something as meaningless as silence; however, we don t
just get new ideas out of the blue, we have to be inspired and influenced by those
elements to create new art. Unlike Plato s Ion, which states that God speaks through
the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects that inspiration
comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation.
Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he
talks about how some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem
disagrees with those artists point of view. He writes, most artists are converted to art
by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an emptying and purifying oneself of the
words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations, communities, and
discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s
work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another
artists works. It is normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then
invents a work of art that is similar to his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives
an example of how South Park, the TV show, was inspired by Rankin/Bass and
Charlie Brown Christmas specials. Most of the time, plagiarism could lead to a great
work of creativity.
Today, almost all work of art, whether they are movies, books,
Building Model Suspension Bridges
Parabolas are used throughout the world to make life easier and more enjoyable
for people. They are used in everything from practical items like car headlights to
grand iconic landmarks like the eiffel tower, but most importantly they are used in
suspension bridges allowing large numbers of people to access new places easily. For
these reasons we decided to create a model suspension bridgeto display the usefulness
of the bridge and the parabolic shape as a whole.
The construction process of our model suspension bridge went smoothly. We
designed a blueprint that showed our bridge in a life size scale. The materials used
to build our bridge included two 18 inch tall two by fours for the anchoring towers of
the suspension bridge, one 30 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On satellite dishes, headlights and dish heaters the parabola shape reflects the
beams or heat all in one direction. Skis use the parabolic shape to make turing much
easier because all you have to do is turn the ski on edge and ski turns almost
effortlessly. To collect energy the parabolic shape is used in trough solar panels so
all the sun s energy can be directed to a single collecting tube. The parabolic shape
can also create extremely tall structures because the weight is distributed to the
anchors and all the pressure isn t left at the top of the structure, this is shown in arc
bridges, arches like the St. Louis Arch and roller coasters. The single most helpful
use of the parabolic shape is the application in the suspension bridge. The
suspension bridge connects previously hard to reach areas easily, is cost effective
and provides strong structure. This is because the parabolic shape of the ropes
transfers the weight of the road or bridge to anchors that hold the weight. Parabolas
are commonly used to make things more convenient and efficient for people around
the world.
The usefulness of parabolas is clearly significant and widespread. They are used in
countless things all over the globe. The suspension bridge presents the parabola in its
most useful form, because of this the Rhino Assassins team decided to construct a
model Suspension bridge to exhibit the parabola at its
Consumer Credit Protection Act Case Summary
Consumer Credit Protection Act
Also known as Regulation B, the consumer credit protection act was created in 1968
to guarantee fair and honest credit practices to consumers. This Act ensures that all
lenders follow the same set of regulations. This law protects employees from
discharge from their employers due to wages being garnished for any one debt.
Furthermore, it limits the amount of earnings that can be garnished in one week.
(About SHRM, 2015).
Gallman vs Home Improvement Contractor
A case that exemplifies the consumer credit protection act is the Gallman Case. The
Gallman s signed a blank judgment note for a home improvement contract. They
were told that the project s total cost would be $600. The contractor then proceeded

The Jesionski s were refinancing their home on February 23, 2007 by borrowing
$611M from Countrywide. Countrywide provided them with a Truth in Lending
Act disclosure and a notice of a right to cancel which provided them until 12pm on
February 27, 2007 to cancel. The Jesinoskis did not cancel and they use that money
they received to pay off other debt. On February 23, 2010 the Jesinoskis tried to
rescind the loan and attempted to argue that they did not receive a sufficient amount
of copies of the TILA disclosure. Their attempt was denied by Countrywide.
Countrywide sought a judgement and argued that the Jensionskis did not file their
suit within the 3 year allowed period per TILA; The Jensionskis argued that they did.
The District Court voted in favor of Countrywide; US Court of Appeals affirmed.

The God Of Small Things, By Assata
They took our identity, put chains on our body in attempts to put chains on our
mind. Post colonialism as a term refers to a relationship between the oppressed and
oppressor, the colonizer and colonized. When it comes to our identity, we are
accountable for the shaping of who we want to be and how to choose to develop it
our decision. Being colonized removed this decision, observing the post colonized
countries you will be able to analyze the drastic effects of coloniality in a post
colonialized world. This paper I will explore postcoloniality in the context of the
cultural and mental effects of European colonization and the effects modernity have
on the construction of identity, specifically those in the novel The God of Small
Things, Assata... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She emphasized her role in the Black Liberation party, its impact on her life and
how she perceived herself. Throughout the novel Assata used a lowercase I , I
think she used this technique to show readers that this movement is bigger than
her. I am about life, i said to myself. I m gonna live as hard as i can and as full as i
can until i die. And i m not letting these parasites, these oppressors, these greedy
racist swine make me kill my children in my mind, before they are even born.
(Shakur 93). Assata went on to describe how some people in the black community
accepted the European standards of beauty, thus disregarding their own identity.
But behind our fights, self hatred was clearly visible. (Shakur 30). Assata then
says that the history they have taught us were all lies and she had to find facts
herself. Moreover, this novel discussed black people accepting the Europeans
standard of beauty and not their own. There were quite a few girls who tried to
bleach their skin white with bleaching cream and who got pimples instead. And, of
course we went to the beauty parlor and got our hair straightened. I couldn t wait to
go to the beauty parlor and get my hair all fried up. I wanted Shirley Temple curls
just like Shirley Temple...Everybody knew you had to be crazy to walk the streets
with nappy hair sticking out. (Shakur 31). It was a problem to love you hair
because you had people telling you it was nappy, it s not professional and untamed.
Society s interpretation of beauty has changed every century. Beginning with
women during war time and them only being able to wear a certain type of style
due to the shortage of materials and colored cloth. By the 1950 s the upswing of
Marilyn Monroe had just began. Throughout the 19th century women who wore make
up were seen as a prostitute. Over the years women adapted to their cosmetics and
The Power Of Love By Harry Potter
The power of love in Harry Potter is unlike any other. So much so that it is an
overwhelmingly significant and recurring theme throughout the entire series. From
the self sacrificial love of Lily Potter to the loving mother Molly Weasley to the
unrequited love of Severus Snape. There is also the misunderstanding, or the
absence, of love; which is equally as important in the novels. Especially since it was
the main difference between Voldemort and Harry that was incredibly essential to the
storyline. So essential that J.K. Rowling went out of the way to tell us about it in
Harry Potterand the Sorcerer s Stone when Dumbledore said, if there is one thing
Voldemort cannot understand, it is love (229, SS). The concept of love is woven so
inextricably within the very fabric of the novels, that it continues to challenge the
reader all the way until the very end.
One of the widely known main principles of magic is its inability to create real,
true love. Which is why fictional characters have been known to dabble with one
of the darker aspects of love in novels: love potions. They do exactly what is
expected, which is to make the victim become obsessed and completely infatuated
with the intended target for a certain amount of time. All while being completely
unaware of such actions. The idea of being able to control someone that you can t
have with love is an alluring concept for many. It s clear that the wizarding world s
love potions are the equivalent to date rape drugs, where

  • 2. Kate Attract In Kate Chopin s The Storm Kate Chopin s The Storm suggests, through the use of characterization, climax, and tone, that affairs (and storms) are not only terrifying, but liberating. She demonstrates that the storm which rages within us can be particularly greater than actual events it self. As the storm is just about to arrive, so too does AlcГ©e. So, in many ways the storm mirrors the passionate encounter between Calixta and AlcГ©e because that is when Calixta and AlcГ©e once again get comfortable with each other and end up sleeping together. As the storm passes and the calm returns, AlcГ©e leaves Calixta s home returning to his home leaving behind a calm Calixta. It is interesting that rather than having an expected negative effect on their marriages, the affair appears to have actually brought them closer to their spouses. This is significant because Chopin is exploring the idea of marriage or at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Chopin uses the characterization for Calixta (the wife) and Alcee (the former lover). Chopin first tells us that while Calixta seems happily married, she did once have an old flame with Alcee. Although it is stated that she had not seen him since getting married; it was interpreted that she wanted to strike up old topics whilst talking about an old storm . When Alcee is settled into Calixta s home, he doesn t necessarily try to have the normal let s catch up talk, he has the let s catch up talk. It is then confirmed after Do you remember in Assumption, Calixta? he asked in a low voice broken by passion. Oh! she remembered; for in
  • 3. Hart Team America Ms. Hart and a student on Team America were both assessing a mathematical expression which consists of dividing decimals: 146.4 Г· 0.32. Bewildered at the difficulty of the problem, they each evaluated the expression. However, the student had analyzed a differentiated solution. Most students would directly assume that Ms. Hart, as a teacher, would have the correct resolution. On the contrary, the student claimed she was accurate. Who will stand corrected? In order to precisely evaluate an expression involving the division of decimals, there are certain steps to ensure success: If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to the right to make it a whole number and move decimal point in dividend the same number of places. Divide as usual. Put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hart and the student s work, the miscalculation is pointed out. The student has correctly analyzed the first step. Conversely, the teacher mistakenly divided 146.4 by 100 instead of multiplication, placing one of the main components of her expression to be 1.464 incorrect. This affects every step after, although the operation and method used is correct. Nevertheless, the student may still be wrong as well. Continuing the process of evaluating the expression, the next step is to divide as usual. Following the standard process of dividing whole numbers, the exact quotient received should be 457.5. With step 3 already done, the final action would be to check the answer. That can be done with the inverse operation of division, multiplication. 457.5 Г— 0.32 = 146.4. This proves that 457.5 is the error free, precise quotient. Evidently supported by a carefully checked run through of the steps needed, the student has received the honor of evaluating the expression accurately. Ms. Hart had erroneously used the wrong equation on step 1. Everyone makes mistakes! This depicts how using the right strategy and checking after each move can lead to conquering the expression and a genius, mathematical

  • 5. Oppression In Ireland War, oppression, and massacres. All three took place in English led Ireland during the Victorian Era, and all three were caused by a few differences in beliefs on how to worship the same God. Mainly due to the evangelization of St. Patrick, the Irish people were devoutly Catholic while their English rulers followed a Protestant Church called the Anglican Church of England. Since the Anglican Church was so dominant in England, the Irish Catholics received very poor treatment from the Protestants in England causing things like the Irish Potato Famine and the Bloody Sunday and Bloody Friday massacres. The Irish English combat was one of the bloodiest religious wars of all time and led to many deaths. To make things worse, all of these battles stemmed from a few different beliefs on how to worship the same God. This led to England ignoring the Irish when they were in trouble and killing them when they fought back. However, all of this acrimony is not distinct to Victorian England; rather, religious hostility is a common occurrence that extends its reaches into the modern world and always leads to war torn areas of the world like the Middle East. England s relationship with Ireland shows a prevalent historical theme of how religious nationalism leads to conflicts that always draw

Taxi Driver Social Context Taxi Driver, a 1976 thriller directed by Martin Scorsese grants onlookers a grimy view into the lonely, slowly deteriorating life of the disturbed New York City cabbie Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), a Vietnam War veteran. Viewers are guided through Bickle s take on N.Y.C. through the masterful use of aesthetically pleasing camera techniques such as the rule of thirds that bring focus onto the characters onscreen without causing the eye discomfort. A sensation of being led by the background to the image of Travis may be noticed by the viewer, as the angle of said background tilts towards Travis image. Making use of this technique both accents and emphasizes Bickle s presence onscreen. Leading lines camerawork does not disappear from the film, either. • 8. The Human Female, Pregnancy, And The Birth Of One Or More... For the human female, pregnancy is a period of time that is celebrated in most cultures. However, reaching the point where a pregnancy successfully results in the birth of one or more healthy offspring can take more than one attempt. Wilcox et al. (1988) provided the conservative estimate that thirty one percent of all pregnancies were unintentionally lost, with twenty two percent of pregnancies being lost before they were clinically detected using delicate detection of hCG hormone levels in a sample the pregnant woman s urine. There are many unique health risks, such as a woman being diagnosed with endometriosis, that increase a woman s chances of having a spontaneous abortion(Santulli et al., 2016). But for healthy women without any observable health risks, for the rate of spontaneous to be abortion this high when healthcare is arguably the best it has ever been in all human history makes it is worth examining the possibility that spontaneous abortion might carry an evolutionary advantage for humans that doesn t make sense in a simply modern context. Before looking at the potential factors that cause a woman to have a spontaneous abortion, it would be beneficial to examine the parameters that define an atypical pregnancy. It is simple to define a typical human pregnancy as the birth of one healthy child per gestation, so an atypical pregnancy would result in something different. A common variation that occurs in human pregnancy is the gestation of multiple fetuses.

All of my hard work and dedication had paid off in that moment. As I was standing there hand in hand with Miss California Teen, I felt like I had been there before. I had dreamed about this moment but never expected it to really happen. Strangely, I had a sense of peace I knew something big was about to happen, and that my life was about to change. The crown was placed on my head, tears ran down my face, and I took my first walk as Miss Teen USA. It all started when I was fourteen years old and after much encouragement from others I decided to compete in the Miss Louisiana Teen USApageant. As the youngest contestant, I felt I was at a disadvantage but decided to do it for the experience. To my surprise, I was crowned the youngest ever Miss Louisiana Teen USA in October of my freshman year of high school. I was now qualified to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA and had ten months to prepare while also representing the state of Louisiana at numerous charity events. There was much more preparation than just getting on stage in front of thousands of people in a beautiful gown. I had to learn how to do my own makeup and hair, work on interview skills, have an evening gown and swimsuit routine and be prepared to answer an on stage question which was my greatest fear. • 11. Heart Of Darkness Stereotypes Essay Joseph Conrad once said, The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. (Conrad, 1911) One of the greatest evils in this world are stereotypes. They restrict certain races, genders, ethnicities, and so forth into groups that reflect the judgements of what other people think of them. When one thinks of Africa, one thinks of tribes, uncivilized indigenous peoples, starvation, HIV/AIDS, disease, and poverty. Although these are frequently found in the continent, it does not reflect the beauty of the savannas, the uniqueness of the culture, or the abundance of natural resources. In the novella Heart of Darkness, Conrad reinforces the stereotypes about Africa by going into great depths... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stereotypes allow one to think of indigenous peoples as uncivilized or unmodernized . Throughout the entire novella not a single African is referred to by their name or even as human, only the white men are. This contrast is shown when Conrad says, It was a distinct glimpse: the dugout, four paddling savages, and the lone white man turning his back suddenly on the headquarters, on relief, on thoughts of home perhaps; setting his face towards the depth of the wilderness, towards his empty and desolate station. (Conrad, page 51) Another well known quote from the novella is Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad, page 83) in which Kurtz believes the only way to fix Africa is to rid it of all it s people which he certainly tries to by decapitating many of the natives, absolutely demoralizing the point of the journey. These terms savages and brutes completely degrade a person and strip them of their identities. Conrad also says, He ought to have been clapping his hands and stamping his feet on the bank... (Conrad, page 59) which shows there were already expectations for the Africans. However, Achebe reflects on the end of the previous quote, instead of which he was hard at work... • 12. Pt1420 Unit 1 Reaction Paper Programming is a time consuming process since every step needs to be defined. To be more efficient, developers try hard to not repeat code they have written which still works. The Unix and NodeJS community embrace this by creating and distributing small, reusable modules. Almost every app that I have seen the source code for has third party modules being used. It may sometimes be foolish to reinvent the wheel, however, software developers should when an existing library cannot support a use case or for a learning experience. Developers eventually build abstractions or tools over systems or libraries. Those tools make it easier and quicker to develop an app, but they hide what is going on behind the scenes. Understanding how the abstractions and tools work behind the scene is important when debugging or using features that the abstraction or tool was not originally designed for. One way to better understand them is to reinvent the wheel. Mary Cook, a developer from the UK, wanted to better understand Git. She did extensive research on how Git works and recreated it in javascript (Maryrosecook/gitlet). She now has a thorough understanding of what git does and writes blog posts to help other programmers understand too. Another example is zodern screenshots. The developer had been using Meteor.js but decided to reevaluate that decision by creating an app without Meteor. Meteor is a collection of packages that are designed to work well together. He took similar packages and attempted creating a tool with similar functions as Meteor. The tool he created is nowhere near as powerful as Meteor, but it helped him to learn how most developers do things and the benefit of using Meteor. Recreating the wheel is a sound way to better understand computer
  • 13. Crime And Punishment, By Fyodor Dostoyevsky Throughout history, humanity has accomplished feats of extraordinary significance; conquering vast expanses of territory, developing technology that would be destined to alter the world for the better. Yet, is humankind homogeneous? Or are there some among us who are predisposed to hold a higher status than all else? During the late 19th century, two great minds pondered this question. Friedrich Nietzsche wrote of an Гњbermensch, a man who could rise above worldly moralityand impose his will upon anything he saw fit. Specifically, the Гњbermensch is not bound by moral or ethical codes, and he has to power to create his own. Parallel to this idea, Fyodor Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment analyzes the repercussions of one s actions when said person attempts to dispose himself from the moral guide of society, known as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rhodia Raskolnikov sees himself as an Гњbermensch, taking it upon himself to murder a pawnbroker, and inadvertently her sister, in cold blood; simply because he views himself as above the average person in society. Raskolnikov s actions, both leading up to his crime and his subsequent attempts at evasion of punishment illustrate a powerful message for humanity past, present, and future. Immediately after the killings, Raskolnikov is overtaken by guilt, ultimately succumbing to hysteria, leading to both complete delusion and capture. Raskolnikov s actions, and his state of mind, indicate that there can be no Гњbermensch; no person is above society, and no person can remove himself from the laws that govern the world and attain Nihilism. Thus, Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment remains exceptionally important today as it conveys the concepts of Гњbermensch and Nihilism as impossible to fully achieve, as seen through the delirium of Rhodia
  • 14. Astronomy Vs Astrology Research Paper Astronomy and astrology are very similar, yet different. Astronomy is the study of the universe and what s inside of it, as well as other universes. Astrology is the study of how the actions and movements of things in our universe affect what happens on earth, and people. Although they both deal with the universeand one was founded by the other, they also have many things that set them apart from one another. This essay will talk about the differences and similarities of astronomy and astrology and how each is used. One of the main differences between astrology and astronomy is that astronomy is based off of research and facts, while astrology is based on the beliefs. Founded in Babylon, astrology uses planets and other celestial objects to try to predict the future. Astrology is not a science, it is the theorem that everything that happens in space affects what happens to people on earth. Astrology is considered a pseudoscience, or a belief that is not based on science or the scientific method. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Astronomers study the planets, stars, and other celestial objects to try to understand how the universe works. They also study things like collisions, black holes and other things that could potentially affect earth. Astronomers gain information about objects in space from telescopes, and satellites. They can also use mathematical equations to find the positions of planets and stars in our universe. These telescopes and satellites observe light reflected by things such as planets, meteors, or stars in space and use it to make observations. Then the Astronomers job is to collect and analyze the data observed. Similarities of the two are that astronomy was founded by astrology. Both relate to the sun, moon, stars, and sometimes their actions such as orbiting. Also, they both require observations of the universe. They will always be related because they have similar characteristics and were founded on the same

Natural Science Vs Religion Natural science and religion are two areas of knowledge that perceive knowledge using ways of knowing differently to pursue its knowledge, an example of that would be Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection and evolution. In natural science, the theory of natural selection is derived from studying the common features in the bone structure of vertebrate limbs despite its varied use. Therefore, using deductive reasoning, they established the evolutiontheory which states that humans evolved from apes due to the fact that humanand apes have similar features and that human has evolved due to adaptation and survival of genes. However, religion, using not only intuition and emotions but also reason disagrees with the claim of evolution.

The book started by explaining the setting of the village then it introduced Okonkwo and his achievements as a young man that led him to be very wealthy. What caught my attention was the difference in character between Okonkwoand his father Unoka. In page four it revealed how Okonkwo felt about his father and how he disliked individuals like his father that were unsuccessful and lazy. It is a different comparison between the son and the father. Okonkwo didn t want to live the lifestyle his father had and he had to prove himself that he was different from his father and he did that by defeating the Amalinze the Cat. • 21. Architecture And Its Related Domical And Arched Structures Vaulted architecture and its related domical and arched structures are amongst the most substantial Roman contributions to architectural knowledge throughout history. The significance of their accomplishments and innovations in engineering are proven by structures such as the vaulted and domed structures at Hadrian s Villa (ca 118 138CE) and Trajan s Markets (ca 105 10 CE) , which, after millennia still seem everlasting. The notion of curved architecture did not originate with the Romans , thus one begs to question how the vaulted structure became so successful as a contributor and staple of Roman architecture? Arch forms were first introduced to the Romans by the Etruscans and were established from a standpoint of practicality. Existing building elements such as the widely used column, could only sustain the weight placed directly above it; therefore a second vertical element was required for the support of a horizontal spanning element, as a result the spanning distance was limited. Vaulted structures however, are capable of distributing load over a wider area; the expansion from its base and extrusion outwards also portray a more unified and dynamic quality. The vault, as a result, became more widely accepted; used predominantly as the roofs or ceiling of a structure. The barrel vault was the most fundamental of these forms, more sophisticated developments such as the groin vault and domical vault were utilised in Trajan s Markets and Hadrian s Villa respectively.

One can also consider why there are now so many overnight mail carriers such as United Parcel Service and Airborne Express. The second example pertains to the exit from an industry, specifically, the airline industry in the United States. Pan Am, a pioneer in public air transportation, is no longer in operation, while some airlines such as TWA (Trans World Airlines) are on the verge of exiting the airlines industry. Why, then, have many airlines that operate on international routes fallen on hard times, while small regional airlines seem to be doing just fine? Managerial economics provides answers to these questions. In order to answer pertinent questions, managerial economics applies economic theories, tools, and techniques to administrative and business decision making. The first step in the decision making process is to collect relevant economic data carefully and to organize the economic information contained in data collected in such a way as to establish a clear basis for managerial decisions. The goals of the particular business organization must then be clearly spelled out. Based on these stated goals, suitable managerial objectives are formulated. The issue of central concern in the decision making process is that the desired objectives be reached in the best possible manner. The term best in the decision making context primarily refers to achieving the goals in the most efficient
  • 23. A Brief Look at Climate Change The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climateand our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate changes impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013). The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai

These controversial topics include, religious books like the Bible, Martin Luther King Jr s I Have a Dream. Speech, and many other events in history. One of the most commonly discussed subjects in relation to relevance is Shakespeare s play Macbeth. People often say that Macbeth doesn t relate to today s world and culture because it was written over 400 years ago. Contrary to that belief, Macbeth s complexity allows it to connect to the modern world better than most of the stories and plays of today. In Macbeth, Shakespeare displays the themes of corruption, guilt, and the conflict between fate and free will. All of these themes remain relevant to the 21st century because human nature has never changed. The first aspect that helps Macbeth maintain its relevance is the portrayal of corruption through the lead character, Macbeth. In the beginning of the story, Macbeth is an honest man who is on good terms with his relative King Duncan. Up. If we are to remain determined we must continue to go up to keep our direction focused on just one thing. Ben, as we quickly find out is focused on one thing and one thing only and that, is survival. This makes sense because failing to find a solution to a problem cannot be classified as critical thinking. Hamlet Corruption And Corruption William Shakespeare s Hamlet According to American novelist, John Irving, in his work The World According to Garp, is a life redeeming work in which everybody dies. Death is the pervading theme of the play. (Sheys 2016) The play has many examples and imagery of corruption, disease, and decay. Corruption in Hamlet is shown through the many corrupt characters who perform a chain of events that show greed, manipulation, and revenge. First, Claudius is corrupt because he killed his brother King Hamlet because he was jealous of his throne and wife. The ghost then states, And duller shouldst thou be than the fat weed that roots itself in ease on Lethe wharf, (Hamlet, I.v.33 34) to compare him too a fat weed that ll corrupt the garden that is the State of Denmark. He also states, My custom always of the afternoon, Upon my secure hour thy uncle stole With juice of cursed hebenon in a vial, And in the porches of my ears did pour the leperous distilment, whose effect Holds such an enmity with blood of man That swift as quicksilver it courses through The natural gates and alleys of the body And with a sudden vigor doth posset And curd, like eager droppings into milk, The thin and wholesome blood. So did it mine. And a most instant tetter barked about, Most lazar like, with vile and loathsome crust all my smooth body. (Hamlet, I.v.60 74) Basically saying that Claudius corrupted his body when he killed him. Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, is also corrupted because she fell for Claudius after her husband died and refused to see her wrongdoings even though they her Hamlet. Ultimately the ghost ends up corrupting Hamlet by putting revenge into his head. If thou didst ever thy dear father love Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder. (Hamlet, I.v.23.25) Ophelia easily gives away her love letters from Hamlet to Polonius when asked, as well as allow her father to listen in on their conversation. She is easily manipulated by her father without knowing. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern also are manipulated by blindly following Claudius instructions to spy on Hamlet when they are supposed to be his friends. But we both obey, and here give up ourselves, in the full bent, To lay our service freely at your feet To be commanded.

By the time I entered fifth grade, marking the end of elementary school, I was finally able to find consistency in my studies. Although I was able to stay in the same public school district up until my senior year, my family still moved from house to house. Even though my parents could move my siblings and I to a school closer to home, they decided not to since they believed the school district I was in now would set me up for a brighter and more stable life than their own.... Adjustable speed drives (ASD) have discovered field orientated control (FOC) system as a perfect contender for elite applications to supplant DC drives with AC drives attributable to their cost, weight, unwavering quality and roughness. Different sensorless calculations for an enlistment engine drive have been proposed for example, utilizing state conditions, Model Reference Adaptive Systems(MRAS), Luenberger or Kalman channel spectators, sliding mode control, saliency impacts, reactive power, coordinate control of torque and flux, Artificial Intelligence(AI), thus on. • 44. `` The Ecstasy Of Influence `` By Jonathan Allen Lethem New ideas come from everywhere whether they are from people, places, books, animals, or even come from something as meaningless as silence; however, we don t just get new ideas out of the blue, we have to be inspired and influenced by those elements to create new art. Unlike Plato s Ion, which states that God speaks through the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects that inspiration comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation. Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he talks about how some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem disagrees with those artists point of view. He writes, most artists are converted to art by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an emptying and purifying oneself of the words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations, communities, and discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another artists works. It is normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then invents a work of art that is similar to his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives an example of how South Park, the TV show, was inspired by Rankin/Bass and Charlie Brown Christmas specials. Most of the time, plagiarism could lead to a great work of creativity. Today, almost all work of art, whether they are movies, books,

They are used in everything from practical items like car headlights to grand iconic landmarks like the eiffel tower, but most importantly they are used in suspension bridges allowing large numbers of people to access new places easily. For these reasons we decided to create a model suspension bridgeto display the usefulness of the bridge and the parabolic shape as a whole. The construction process of our model suspension bridge went smoothly. We designed a blueprint that showed our bridge in a life size scale. The materials used to build our bridge included two 18 inch tall two by fours for the anchoring towers of the suspension bridge, one 30 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On satellite dishes, headlights and dish heaters the parabola shape reflects the beams or heat all in one direction. Skis use the parabolic shape to make turing much easier because all you have to do is turn the ski on edge and ski turns almost effortlessly. To collect energy the parabolic shape is used in trough solar panels so all the sun s energy can be directed to a single collecting tube. The parabolic shape can also create extremely tall structures because the weight is distributed to the anchors and all the pressure isn t left at the top of the structure, this is shown in arc bridges, arches like the St. Louis Arch and roller coasters. The single most helpful use of the parabolic shape is the application in the suspension bridge. The suspension bridge connects previously hard to reach areas easily, is cost effective and provides strong structure. This is because the parabolic shape of the ropes transfers the weight of the road or bridge to anchors that hold the weight. Parabolas are commonly used to make things more convenient and efficient for people around the world. The usefulness of parabolas is clearly significant and widespread. They are used in countless things all over the globe. The suspension bridge presents the parabola in its most useful form, because of this the Rhino Assassins team decided to construct a model Suspension bridge to exhibit the parabola at its

Consumer Credit Protection Act Case Summary Consumer Credit Protection Act Also known as Regulation B, the consumer credit protection act was created in 1968 to guarantee fair and honest credit practices to consumers. Furthermore, it limits the amount of earnings that can be garnished in one week. (About SHRM, 2015). Post colonialism as a term refers to a relationship between the oppressed and oppressor, the colonizer and colonized. When it comes to our identity, we are accountable for the shaping of who we want to be and how to choose to develop it our decision. Being colonized removed this decision, observing the post colonized countries you will be able to analyze the drastic effects of coloniality in a post colonialized world. This paper I will explore postcoloniality in the context of the cultural and mental effects of European colonization and the effects modernity have on the construction of identity, specifically those in the novel The God of Small Things, Assata... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She emphasized her role in the Black Liberation party, its impact on her life and how she perceived herself. Throughout the novel Assata used a lowercase I , I think she used this technique to show readers that this movement is bigger than her. I am about life, i said to myself. I m gonna live as hard as i can and as full as i can until i die. And i m not letting these parasites, these oppressors, these greedy racist swine make me kill my children in my mind, before they are even born. (Shakur 93). Assata went on to describe how some people in the black community accepted the European standards of beauty, thus disregarding their own identity. But behind our fights, self hatred was clearly visible. (Shakur 30). Assata then says that the history they have taught us were all lies and she had to find facts herself. Moreover, this novel discussed black people accepting the Europeans standard of beauty and not their own. There were quite a few girls who tried to bleach their skin white with bleaching cream and who got pimples instead. And, of course we went to the beauty parlor and got our hair straightened. I couldn t wait to go to the beauty parlor and get my hair all fried up. I wanted Shirley Temple curls just like Shirley Temple...Everybody knew you had to be crazy to walk the streets with nappy hair sticking out. (Shakur 31). It was a problem to love you hair because you had people telling you it was nappy, it s not professional and untamed. Society s interpretation of beauty has changed every century. Beginning with women during war time and them only being able to wear a certain type of style due to the shortage of materials and colored cloth. By the 1950 s the upswing of Marilyn Monroe had just began. Throughout the 19th century women who wore make up were seen as a prostitute. Over the years women adapted to their cosmetics and
  • 48. The Power Of Love By Harry Potter The power of love in Harry Potter is unlike any other. So much so that it is an overwhelmingly significant and recurring theme throughout the entire series. From the self sacrificial love of Lily Potter to the loving mother Molly Weasley to the unrequited love of Severus Snape. There is also the misunderstanding, or the absence, of love; which is equally as important in the novels. Especially since it was the main difference between Voldemort and Harry that was incredibly essential to the storyline. So essential that J.K. Rowling went out of the way to tell us about it in Harry Potterand the Sorcerer s Stone when Dumbledore said, if there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love (229, SS). The concept of love is woven so inextricably within the very fabric of the novels, that it continues to challenge the reader all the way until the very end. One of the widely known main principles of magic is its inability to create real, true love. Which is why fictional characters have been known to dabble with one of the darker aspects of love in novels: love potions. They do exactly what is expected, which is to make the victim become obsessed and completely infatuated with the intended target for a certain amount of time. All while being completely unaware of such actions. The idea of being able to control someone that you can t have with love is an alluring concept for many. It s clear that the wizarding world s love potions are the equivalent to date rape drugs, where
