1. How To Quote In An Essay
Writing an essay on the intricacies of quoting in an essay may seem deceptively simple at first
glance. After all, one might think it's just a matter of putting some words within quotation marks
and citing the source, right? However, delving into the nuances of proper quoting reveals a
labyrinth of rules, styles, and exceptions that can make the task quite challenging.
To begin with, mastering the various citation styles such as APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard
requires a keen attention to detail. Each style has its own set of rules regarding the placement of
quotation marks, citation formats, and the inclusion of page numbers or publication years.
Juggling these different requirements can be a mental workout, demanding constant reference to
style guides and manuals.
Furthermore, understanding when and how to integrate quotes seamlessly into your own writing
is an art. Striking the right balance between your voice and the voices of your sources can be
challenging. Over-reliance on quotes can make your essay appear like a patchwork of borrowed
ideas, while too few may leave your argument unsupported.
The process becomes even more intricate when dealing with indirect or paraphrased quotes.
Ensuring that you accurately represent the original meaning while avoiding plagiarism requires
finesse and a solid grasp of the source material.
Additionally, navigating the maze of punctuation and signal phrases adds another layer of
complexity. Knowing when to use ellipses, brackets, or how to smoothly introduce a quote with
phrases like "according to" or "as stated by" is crucial for maintaining the flow of your essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on how to quote in an essay demands more than a basic
understanding of punctuation and citation rules. It requires a meticulous attention to detail, a
firm command of different citation styles, and the ability to seamlessly integrate quotes into your
own writing. Mastering this skill is a rewarding but challenging task that enhances the clarity and
persuasiveness of your academic writing.

2. Abraham Flexner s Medical Education Reform
Abraham Flexner was one of the most influential advocates of medical education
reform in the United States. Born to German Jewish immigrants on November 13,
1866 in Louisville, Kentucky, Flexner attended Johns Hopkins and earned a bachelor
s degree in 1886. Once earning his bachelor s degree, Flexner returned to Kentucky to
teach Latin and Greek at the high schoolin Louisville. In 1890 Flexner opened Mr.
Flexner s School , his own private college preparatory school based on the idea that
there would be no formal curriculum, no examinations, and the students would not
be graded on, nor any academic records kept of their work. Remarkably, the school
stood out at preparing students for prestigious colleges (Institute for Advanced
Study, n.d.). Flexner closed his school in 1905 and returned to college where he
received his master s degree from Harvard in 1906.
Flexner wrote a book entitled The American College in 1908 which was highly
critical of American universities and their teaching methodology. Flexner s book
gained attention from Dr. Henry S. Pritchett, President of the Carnegie Foundation for
the Advancement of Teaching, and as a result, invited Flexner to join his staff (Kappa

Flexner referred to the teaching in these schools as didactic, the schools taught very
little anatomy, and were basically private ventures designed only to make money; no
applicant who could pay the fee and any student who paid his tuition was assured of

3. Fashion In The Workplace Essay
The workplace can consist of a diversity of people, and a diversity of workplace
fashion. Let me tell you about the diverse workplace fashion I observe at my place
of employment, South Padre Island City Hall. Being the front desk receptionist, I see
most of my coworkers throughout the day and have categorized the fashion at my
workplace as follows: The Business Professional, HR Inappropriate, Casual Islander,
The Flamboyant Fashionistas, and Office Uniform. In an organization that consists of
at least 10 different departments and one hundred and fifty plus employees,
personality is displayed through a variety of workplace fashion. The Business
Professional. Slacks, suits, and formal dresses or skirts should be worn when there
are important meetings being held at City Hall. While City Council meeting days are
designated days that business professional attire must be worn by all, there are
employees who wearbusiness professional attire throughout the entire week. Our
City Manager is fairly new and came from the City of Tyler. Her preferred
workplace fashion is business professional with black being the color she wears
the most. Within the first few months for working for the city, the City Council
advised her that she should try incorporating more color into her wardrobe since
the city is an Island as well. She has taken the councils advise and has incorporated
a little more color into her wardrobe, but still, black is her go to color. The City

Convincing oneself that over protection is the correct thing to do for someone else,
controls the other person s room for knowledge. In A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen,
the author tailors the overprotective relationship between the main characters,
therefore they are flat characters in the story. The main characters, Nora and Torvald,
resort to guarding each other against the outside world and the lessons that come
from it to establish comfortin their lives. Neither of them allow growth in their
relationship, which can be harmful since it ultimately leads to a blockage in
recognizing the world s wonders. It is why Ibsen emphasizes that when comfort is the

deep awakening that she comes to terms with herself on how her life should actually

5. Sacrifice In Isabel Allende s The House Of The Spirits
Isabel Allende writes an encompassing novel which tells the story of four generations
of a complicated family over a period of seventy years. Throughout the novel, a
myriad of emotions are felt as the reader is taken on journeys with the poor through
poverty and desperation, with the rich through greed and manipulation, with the man
through his desires and pride, with the woman through her sacrifice and sorrow, and
with life through unforeseen consequences and fates of characters. The House of the
Spirits begins with an introduction to the del Valle family, where Nivea and Severo
raise their children in an unnamed country. From the very beginning, the family s
future is foreshadowed through the premonitions of the youngest daughter Clara,...

The consequences of Trueba s horrifying behavior as a sexual predator raping

endures sexual assault, rape, and torture in an endless cycle of vengeance. Alba s
fate in the novel is a result of her grandfather s actions, she however vows to end the
cycle of revenge for the sake her children s future. After suffering in the hands of her
grandfather s greatest enemies, Alba writes, It would be very difficult for me to
avenge all those who should be avenged, because my revenge would be just another
part of the same inexorable rite (Allende, 432). Notably, the significant bond between
Clara and her granddaughter, Alba, exemplifies the theme of family, as they share the
ability to communicate with spirits, their feminist ideals, and unique introverted
personalities that amend due to political tensions in their respective generations. The
obvious similarities in the challenges both Alba and Clara face in their lifetimes,
reveals the predominant themes of femininity, sexuality, and

An anchor is a specific word which represents behaviors classically conditioned to
evoke a specific response. This response can be cognitive or behavioral. An anchor
does not need to be to be reinforced with its response and it does not need to be
conditioned over a period of time. Language is a common anchoring system. For
example, the word dog will be an auditory anchor to an image of four legged animal
that barks, an effective anchor with little cognitive effort. The smell of a hospital or
a family member screaming in anger is examples of anchors that have been
unintentionally installed and they operate out of an individual s awareness and direct
control. Neuro Linguistic Programming operates to install new anchors which work
just as well as these unintentional anchors and work toward evoking a response that
increases the behavioral flexibility of a person and it is through these anchors that
changes can be made in the strategies of thought. Using NLP a therapist can establish
a map of one s cognitive representation of the world and place anchors that be
established in a clients strategies that provoke responses that differ from those
expected using their original strategy. It is now used internationally used by millions
of people throughout the world in such diverse fields as management, sales,
marketing, public relations, education, therapy, the military and police, sport, and
personal development. (Schaefer, Beausay Pursley 1983).
7. Climate Change Is The Global Climate System
Climate is part of our everyday lives. What we experience is the global climate
system. According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change,
climate change is, a change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly to
human activity alters the composition of the atmosphere and which is in addition to
natural climatevariability observed over comparable time periods. (Allen, Seaman
Delascio, 2009) Australia s climate has warmed a lot more since 1910 by the
average of 0.9 C. it has been rising dramaticllay since 1950 s.the daytime
temperatures have increased by 0.8 C whereas in the night time, we experience 1.1
C more heat than the people living in 1900 s. (BOM CSIRO, 2014). In 2004 more
than 234 newspaper articles have concluded that we may have, in fact, reached the
tipping point for the climate change. Walker (2006) believes that this man made
climate change has caused havoc on the earths atmosphere and the most striking of
all the components is the arctic. Farthest north is the carapace of sea ice over the
Arctic Ocean. South of that is the vast ice sheet that covers Greenland. And then
there is the ocean conveyor belt, which originates in a small region of the Nordic
seas and carries heat and salt around the world.
All three seem to have inbuilt danger zones that may deserve to be called tipping
points. And the outside forces pushing them towards those points are gathering. It has
been found that the summer sea ice has shrunk by an

Typically, CMC can be divided into two types: synchronous and asynchronous
communication (Herrings, 2001). In synchronous communication, as in such as live
chat rooms, MSN, or SKYPE, two people log in at the same time, and they
reciprocally send and receive messages immediately, whilst asynchronous
conversation does not require users to log in at the same time, which means that
interactants can get into touch time independent, as we do through e mailing and
blogging (Baym, 2006; Liu, 2007). Baym (2006) also alludes to that CMC transcends
space and time restrictions, and the information can be stored and replicated, which is
the point where written communication departs from face to face exchanges of talk.
According to Chang (2002), CMC has such features as being interactive, non linear
and anonymous. In a smooth face to face communication occasion, people ordinarily
lean towards taking and finishing turns in a conversation However, online written
communication does not need to abide by this rule and linearity, because people can
speak and express their opinions and emotions without waiting for others responses.

10. Funerals, Ruals And Funerals
Funerals and the accompanying ceremonies and rituals are as diverse as the people
who perform them. I was raised Roman Catholic and have had first hand experience
with the tradition of receiving the Sacrament of Last Rights before a person dies.
When I was seven years old, I had an emergency appendectomy that was done
laparoscopically. Ten days after surgery, I became very ill with a high fever,
vomiting, and intense abdominal pains. My mother rushed me to the hospital
where I was admitted and taken to the operating room for an emergency surgery.
While in surgery, they discovered I had a surgical infection in my lower right
quadrant. They ran my bowel and found a lump in my mesentery, but they could
not biopsy it because it was too close to a major artery. After surgery, I was
recovering well and looking forward to going home. On my third day post
operation, I was difficult to rouse and eventually became unresponsive with my
heart rate dropping to eight beats per minute. I was rushed to the Intensive Care
Unit where I was given Last Rights by the hospital priest because they did not
think I was going to make it through the night. I do not remember receiving the
sacrament that night, but I do remember the second time. Things got a little better,
but then I started hemorrhaging from my nose. That, combined with my blood
loss from surgery, resulted in me needing a blood transfusion. I received Last
Rights for a second time after the central line was placed. I remember the priest
making a cross on my forehead and the palms of my hand. He prayed and blessed my
soul so that if I were to die, I could go to Heaven. I remember feeling a sense of
calm, but that could have been the narcotics. The idea of blessing someone before
deathto ensure that they get to heaven is interesting to me. It almost seems as
though you can live your life as sinfully as you want to but when the time comes, if
you confess and repent, then all is forgiven. That is quite odd to me. It is
interesting to have had Last Rights twice and still be alive. It makes me wonder if
God decided it was not my time. Despite the priest s best attempts to bless my soul
for the journey to heaven. Funeralcosts are something that I do not think I will ever
11. Arguments Against Victimization
There were examinations made by theorists that suggest some people are, in fact,
victim prone and argue that, similar to the concept of born criminals , there are born
victims (Moriarty, 2003). Born victims are individuals who seem to be self
destructive and studies have proclaimed that they are responsible, to some degree, for
their own victimization. There is a continuous reciprocal action between predators
and victims (Moriarty, 2003). There are two main ways precipitative behavior can
come about, this being both actively and passively. In active precipitation, explained
by Wolfgang, it states that the victimis behaving in a threatening, violent, almost
intolerable, manner with the offender, which can have the victim involve themselves
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for an individual to fully protect themselves against victimization, they
would need to seriously alter their whole life. To some degree, everyone in society
has no choice but to involve themselves in risky behavior (Moriarty, 2003). There
are situations that are completely out of one s control, and circumstances that can
not be changed. For instance, some people could live in a higher crime rate
neighborhood, so no matter what, stepping outside of the confines of their home
is a risk. But it is a risk worth taking because people need to run errands, go out to
eat, go to work, etc. They can not be responsible if they are a victim of crime by
choosing to not live in fear. Blaming the victim, even slightly, then diminishes full
responsibility for the offender. The concept of victim precipitation provides a
cultural framework which offenders can use to rationalize their behavior (Moriarty,
2003, p. 32). To better put this into perspective, in 2016, the Stanford University
swimmer, Brock Turner, was charged with sexual assault. After serving only three
months, he was given an earlier release date. Arguments, in this case, stated that the
woman should have never been as intoxicated as she was. The real argument here
should have been, Mr. Turner never laying a hand on her in any way (Shariff
Wiseman, 2016). Offenders should almost always take full responsibility for
immersion in crime, because when victim blaming occurs, it impacts the victim
emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. It even has the possibility of the
punishment for the offender become less severe. To add on, the creation of victim
blaming creates culturally legitimate victims , which is incredibly harmful to those

Theatre History Explained Neil Fraser outlines the history of theatre from Greek and
Roman times, all the way through the twentieth century. Fraser makes a claim that
theatre truly began in Greek culture with even the Roma s looking upon that time as
the golden age . The Romans looked back on Greek theatreof circa 600BC as a golden
age, and we can still make a case for the great plays of that period as having never
been bettered. (Fraser, 2004, pg.5). Some of the more important highlights of this
book include the transformation of theatre as we view it today from what it
originally looked like. It s roots in Greek religious ceremonies progressing from a
chorus of priests speaking all together in unison to a solo voice being used as an...

These pageants gave birth to a new type of play called mystery or miracle cycles
(Fraser, 2004). From there Fraser concludes that the medieval theatrical genres
eventually became outmoded or rather, grew and developed into new ones. (Fraser,
2004, pg.45). From Medieval we turn to the Elizabethan stage which is what most
everyone thinks of in regards to theatre and performance art. In this stage we begin
to see a form of censorship and theatre becoming less and less involved with the
church (Fraser,2004). We also begin to see a change from outdoor theaters to the
indoor theaters with audience seated in front of a large rectangular stage and
balconies to hold more affluent patrons (Fraser, 2004).
The Shakespearean Stage 1574 1642 In the Elizabethan era, also known as the

of the strolling entertainers that roamed from place to place performing. From

Darwish found the force of words at an early stage and composed fierce poems of
resistance and love of land. Darwish s poem Identity Card 1964 has an exceptional
hold back write down, I am an Arab! This reiteration frames a cry that takes shape,
from one perspective, the association between the Palestinian identity and land, and
then again, the Palestinian resistance against Israeli endeavors to delete the
Palestinian identity in the occupied land. The Palestinian identity has dependably
been at the heart of the IsraelPalestinestruggle not just on the grounds that it
inseparably connects Palestinians with their country but since it is additionally a
method for resistance. It is a steady indication of what was detracted from the

for example, the development of personality of colonized individuals, giving careful
consideration to the common habitat that has an immediate connection with the

the United States, about 200 new cases of MS are discovered weekly (Pietrangelo,

Smog is a kind of air pollution; the word smog is a portmanteau of smoke and fog.
Classic smog results from large amounts of coal burning in an area caused by a
mixture of smoke and sulfur dioxide. Modern smog does not usually come from coal
but from vehicular and industrial emissions that are acted on in the atmosphere by
ultraviolet light from the sun to form secondary pollutants that also combine with the
primary emissions to form photochemical smog.
Ground level ozone (O3) formed from NOx and VOCs. Ozone (O3) is a key
constituent of the troposphere (it is also an important constituent of certain regions of
the stratosphere commonly known as the Ozone layer). Photochemical and chemical
reactions involving it drive many of the chemical processes that occur in the
atmosphere by day and by night. At abnormally high concentrations brought about by
human activities (largely the combustion of fossil fuel), it is a pollutant, and a
constituent of smog.
Peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN) similarly formed from NOx and VOCs.
Minor air pollutants include:
A large number of minor hazardous air pollutants. Some of these are regulated in
USA under the Clean Air Act and in Europe under the Air Framework Directive.
A variety of persistent organic pollutants, which can attach to particulate matter.
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are organic compounds that are resistant to
16. Power And Marriage In Macbeth
Power or Marriage Imagine being stuck in a relationship and or marriage with
someone you did not love or like. They are only using you for power that is
especially not a true marriage. Every afternoon you walk through the doors for your
house, and you think to yourself, I am so miserable in this relationship. The only
reason why you are doing this is because of the money, or the job they can offer you.
In the book Macbeththe marriages were not based on affection, they were
established by power. The author is William Shakespeare, it took place in 1606 in
Scotland, it was published in 1623, and it is a tragedy. A good marriage
empowered by power rather than fondness of each other is not a superior marriage.
First and Foremost, Lady Macbeth and her perspective of marriage demonstrate an
unhealthy amount of wearing the pants in the family. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth a
great deal of what to do. Before they decide to killMacbeth Lady Macbeth says
When you durst do it, then you were a man, (I vii 49). She basically says he was a
man when he did want to Kill King Duncan, but now that he doesn t want to
assassinate him he isn t a man. She basically forced Macbeth to kill the King. She
convinces him to do whatever to get the crown. If she has to question his manhood
that would hit close to home. In that time period, it would be unheard of for Lady
Macbeth to wear the pants in the family because women have little to no respect. That
is why it demonstrates an unhealthy

Personalities, everyone has a different personality. Personality development are the
patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that set you apart from another
individual. Many of the theories revolve around that personality is something that
begins when you are an infant. Adult personality traits are one of the personalities
believed to be based off of infant temperament. That means that their personality
traits begin to differ early on in life. Some believe that it is even before language.
They held the same perspective but that personality is stable by the end of
adolescence. But by the early 1900s, William James asserted that adults by age 30,
their personality is set like plaster . In order to prove some of these theories are
correct they created what is called The Five Factor Model. It is meant to help map
childhood temperament. It is supposing to prove that individual differences in
levels of the Big Five personality traits are present from young age. The Big five
personality traits was the model to comprehend the relationship between personality
and academic behaviors. The model is based on common language keys of
personality. These keys are grouped together using a technique called factor analysis.
This widely examined theory suggests five broad dimensions used by some
psychologists to describe the human

Comparative Law: An Aid to Legislators Comparative law has several practical
applications. This has made it a very key subject in various aspects of law practice
and study. Zweigert and Kötz identify four major areas where it has been widely
and effectively used . These include being used as an aid to legislators, as a
component of the curriculum in universities, a tool of construction and as a
contributor to the systemic unification of law. All these areas underscore the
importance of the subject. This treatise looks into cooperative law as an aid to
legislators. This is done by reviewing and evaluating how it has been used in
different countries of the world for legislative purposes and in the molding of the
existing legal structures and systems. The topic of the influence of foreign and
cooperative law in the legislation process has widely been investigated by several
scholars. This is basically done in order to understand how various parliaments use
the foreign and comparative law in drafting, discussing and approving new
legislations. It is not by chance that a lot of focus has been put in this particular
aspect of law but due to the importance of the practice. The application of
comparative law in legislation is something that has been in existence for a long time
now . Legislators from various regions of the world have always found it hard to
come up with certain legislations without
20. Marxism Impact On Russia
The system that pushed towards an equal society, know as Marxism, was a very
monumental and important philosophy that eventually diffused across the globe
during the 20th century. It was, in fact, developed in the late 1800 s, but it wasn t
popular until the 1900 s. Although the majority of Marxismfell along with the USSR
and China during the Cold War, parts of it began to distribute across Asia and even
America through high amounts of supporters, war, and religious support.
Despite the negativity towards Marxism in America, the philosophy became widely
used; even some the the US constitution. The oblivious Americans believed that the
Soviet Union was destroyed, however, Marxism, at least a weaker form of it, was
still active. The Marxist people pushed toward socialism and equality thought the

21. Blackberry Picking- Seamus Heaney Analysis
Blackberry Picking Seamus Heaney Seamus Heaney is an Irish poet who was
born in Mossbawn farmhouse and spent fourteen years of his childhood there.
Many of his poems are based on personal experience; Mid term Break , for
example, was based on the death of his younger brother; and are laid out in settings
akin to those he is familiar to. His poem, Blackberry Picking , is set on a farm and
explores the simple luxury of picking fresh, ripe blackberries, his inspiration quite
possibly being his own childhood. Thematically, the poem explores the idealistic
nature of childhood, and the importance of waking up to reality as one grows older.
The beginning of the poem is filled with a vivid passionate recollection of the

The line, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair ties up both, the childish reaction of
crying when hit by the realisation that something good will not last, and the adult
resignation to the fact that although it is never fair, such is life. On a more implicit
note, the poem deals with the theme of greed and the dissatisfaction often involved
in attempting to gain an object of desire. The attempt to acquire great amounts of
this object by removing it from its natural setting and hoarding it leads to its
destruction and to the hoarder s disappointment. However, it is also implied that
lessons on greed are seldom learned, Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they
would not. Even with the knowledge that his efforts would be in vain, Heaney
writes about how he was compelled to try and store the blackberries each year,
thus bringing out a recurrent greed for the same object. The structure and language
of the poem aid the reader in better understanding and connecting with it. The first
part is merely a recollection that provides information; what time of the year it is,
how the blackberries were collected. There is a lot of enjambment here, and this
allows for a free flow of thoughts for the poet, as well as a better level of
connection for the reader. This flow better creates the feelings and emotions of the
poem, and allows the ideas in each line to flow into each other and create one
22. Rhetorical Analysis Of Ram Trucks
Ram Trucks, founded by the Chrysler Group in 2009, was created to focus on the
public needs with the pickup truck. In a male dominated truck industry,
approximately 11% of pickup trucks are registered under females. With such a small
number of women buying trucks, Ram debuted a television advertisement, during the
141th Kentucky Derby, to promote their new truckto women. By doing so, they
inspire women to break the stereotypes, especially the male dominated truck industry.
Through its carefully incorporated narration, Ram appeals to the courage of women
through aural and visual techniques and utilizes specific examples of females, who
overcame obstacles in their profession, to provide further inspiration and create a
valuable rhetorical commercial.
Ram immediately begins their advertisement by utilizing logos and pathos to
embolden women to fight against stereotypes. First, in the narration, the commercial
exploits a series of repetitive rhetorical question and appeals to the audacious
emotions of the audience. Ram repeats have you ever thought multiple time in order
to capture the viewer s attention. This use of rhetorical questions establishes an
understanding and inviting tone that prepares the viewer for Ram s overarching
message. Next, allowing the viewer to comprehend these rhetorical questions, Ram
briefly pauses. Following this pause, Ram articulates their message: You can break a
stereotype and throw it into a whole nother gear. Because the courage

28. Special Needs For Special Education
Introduction/Purpose
Fitzgerald, Ryan Fitzgerald (2015) reported that it has been an increase of children
identified with special education needs in different countries in Europe. One of the
explanation for this influx is the definition of special needs recently changed, which
caused more children to fall under that category. Since more children qualify for
special education, professionals and parents need training and guidance on meeting
the needs of those students. In Ireland, there is a challenge in finding the best
comprehensive and coordinated Early Intervention (EI) service because EI models
varies in different areas, which cause inconsistencies (Fitzgerald et al., 2015). The
two models that are mostly used in Ireland are the multidisciplinary team approach
(MDA) and the transdisciplinary team approach (TDA). Some of the functions and
characteristics of the MDA are the team members assess, create goals, work with
and evaluate the child separately. In addition, the team provides home visits. Some
of the functions and characteristics of the TDA approach are team members
collaborate with each other, the team members cross disciplinary boundaries to
increase communication and one team member is designated as a key worker,
which is someone who is available as a link for families attending EI services
(Fitzgerald et al., 2015, p.200).The purpose of this study is to discover parents

My Reading Journey
Reading is everywhere, it is one basic skill that we all must learn at some point in
our life. Whether it is reading a book, text messages, posters, or a billboard.
Everybody has their own success story on who and what taught them how to read.
Most have been taught by their parents as a child, others had the help of sibling and
school teachers. Between my mom, older sister, school events and my teachers I
could master the art of reading. At an early age, I discovered this deep desire for
education which helped prosper in school.
Many different events in my life lead up to my ability to read. There are words all
arounds no matter where we go, so not learning how to read was never an option for
me. My mother got me interested in reading first because as a child she would sit me
on her lap and read short children stories to me. At night time, she would tuck me
in and read me a bed time story. Her voice flowed so smoothly through each word
and she even mad the sound effects to make the story come alive. It became a
point in time where I would no longer wait for my mother to read to me, I would
take out a book and attempt to read on my own. Not knowing what any of the
words meant or what they were saying I would try my best to read them still. That
was only the beginning for me, when I enrolled in kindergarten and my teacher
would assign homework to us there was always some form of reading that was
required. I would sit at the kitchen table struggling to

the Americans wanted to stop the Nazis from burning the books. The Nazis burnt
non Germany books because the books where against the Nazis, so the Nazis made

because in Fahrenheit 451 they burn books and the Nazis also burnt books so that
might have given Bradbury an idea when he was writing the story.,
The tone of the story is shown through the main character and their discussions. For

Clarisse s tone is she doesn t want the books to be burnt, and the firemen s tone is
they want the books to burn because they think that books could hurt people. Like the
Americans she feels like the book burning was silly, ineffective, infantile, and insane
because burning books is a waste of time and

utilitarian state. Yet, such a society would be rigid and boring, lacking all the
qualities of unbounded life. Beauty comes from tragedy. Meaning is derived from
misfortune. Some argue that happiness itself cannot truly exist without its

Abstract
Among all nursing students and the majority of healthcare professionals, hand
hygiene is understood to be a simple and important method of reducing nosocomial
infections among patients. The guidelines stated by the CDC delineate specific, step
by step recommendations in order to perform adequate handwashing. Though it may
be proven and well understood, the actual compliance demonstrated by healthcare
workers is severely lacking. The purpose of this literature review is to identify
methods that help ensure continued compliance in reducing the transmission of
communicable diseases via adequate handwashing. Approximately four research
articles were selected to provide an overview of various methods used to promoting
handwashing compliance. The methods used in selecting these articles were as
follows: hand hygiene, improve compliance, and nursing. Articles older than seven
years were excluded. An exception was made for an electronic publication detailing
the history of infection control and asepsis; this was strictly chosen for its content
despite being published in 2005. The following outcomes which may yield positive
results were identified: increased education, implementing friendly reminders
throughout the facility, installing additional handwashing stations or appropriate
substitutes such as alcohol based cleansers, and using student nurses as handwashing

Beliefs are steeped in our past histories, habits and traditions, and are thus
constrained by individual experiences and not as adaptable to new situations.
Alternatively, if you use values to make decisions, those decisions will align with the

Therefore, they can be used for making tough decisions in complex situations that
have not yet been experienced. As a result, values provide a more flexible mode of
decision making than beliefs.

Though this is true, research shows that the media does contribute to the increase in
body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. Anorexia means lack of appetite , but in
the case of the eating disorder anorexia nervosa, it is a desire to be the, rather than a
lack of appetite, that causes individuals to decrease their food intake, (Smolin and

and limos ( hunger ), denoting hunger of such intensity that a person could eat an
entire ox, (Smolin and Mary Grosvenor, 94).
Eating Disorders affect 5 10 million Americans, and thousands of people die each
year from their complications. Although some groups are at a greater risk than
others, eating disorders occur in people of all ages, races, and socioeconomic
backgrounds. We do not know what causes eating disorders, but many factors have
been identified that may play a role (Smolin and Mary Grosvenor, 40).
We know that eating disorders involve serious disturbances in eating behavior and
extreme concern about body size or weight. We also know that eating disorders can
be life threatening if treatment is not provided or is not effective. But we do not
completely understand what causes eating disorders. Generally, scientists believe
they arise from a complex interaction of genetic, psychological, and sociocultural
factors (Smolin and Mary Grosvenor, 42).

41. The Tragedy of the Commons and Collective Action Essay
The tragedy of the commons and the problem of collective action are two key
concepts in the world of political science. They act under the assumption that man is
a rational being who will act in his own self interest. Humanity id broadly diverse
meaning that each individual has their own ideas as to how society should run and
how people should live.(heywood) This inevitably results in disagreement and this is
where politics steps in. Aristotle described politics as the master science , the activity
through which human beings attempt to improve their lives and create the Good
Society. Through the tragedy of the commonsand the problem of collective action we
can see how politics is essentially the search for conflict resolution ... Show more

However Mancur Olson (cite) states in his book that rational self interested
individuals will not act to achieve their common or group interests. Coercion or
other incentives are needed for this to occur. Communication can be used as moral
suasion (ostrom) This became known as the zero contribution thesis . A social
dilemma is when individuals choose actions that will affect others as well as
themselves. The individual will aim to benefit themselves short term which
generally results in a lower joint outcome. If the individuals acted collectively they
would achieve a better optimal outcome than the one they would achieve on their
own. These social dilemmas have been characterised in game theory by the
prisoners dilemma. They will achieve the Nash equilibrium which is lower than
the socially desirable outcome. This is the problem of collective action. This is
not to say that forms of collective action cannot be seen in everyday world. Mobs,
gangs, cartels, neighbourhood associations, charities and voting are all forms of
collective action. (ostrom) These social dilemmas are related to common pool
resources. The problem of free riding can be an issue. . There has to be governance
of common pool resources. If, for example collective action was man s natural instinct

42. Sports Coaches Influence On Youth Sports
Physical activity is a large part of being healthy, especially at a young age.
Participating in sports is a very popular form of obtaining this exercise, as nearly
thirty six million kids play organized sports each year (Source 6). Coaches are
extremely influential in the development of minors. They are the role models for the
children to learn and grow from. Most coaches are parents, almost eighty five
percent (Source 6). However, this can have positive and negative effects on the
participants that would differ from the effects of having a trained, unbiased coach.
Many problems are evident when it comes to coaching staffs for youth sports; many
parents take on the task of coaching without knowing they are unqualified, partial,
and may damage their child psychologically. The qualifications for youth sports
coaches are often no further than a Safe Sporttest involving abuse. However, there is
very seldom a test that analyzes the knowledge that the coach has about the sport or
the basic first aid that is related to sport specific... Show more content on

When behavioral criticism is required, a child who is the coach s son is likely to
react very different from any other child. Many would consider their parent s
criticism even less than their teammate would because they are more comfortable
being defiant to a parent rather than a different power figure. This can result in
interruptions at practice and games where a parent coach forgets that they cannot
just reprimand their child as though they were only playing the role of a parent,
whereas if there was a coach that was equally involved with each player, there would
be no negative or positive actions towards one athlete in particular. One specific
reason that would make having an indifferent coach beneficial would be that other
team members would know that the coach is there for the team, not just their child

43. One Tree Hill Analysis
One Tree Hill There are always stereotypes in high school. People are placed into
groups. You re a jock, you re a cheerleader, you re a freak, you re into the drama
department. I had a lot of trouble fitting into those groups when I was in high school
because I wanted to be a part of all of them. One Tree Hill represents people who are
multidimensional and who like more than one thing. Hilarie Burton, who plays
Peyton Sawyer, says it perfectly herself. One Tree Hillshows diversity among all. The
use of every stereotype is used in this series to allow every viewer feel as though
they have a place, making the show significant for young adult viewers especially.
The main characters in the show are all friends, yet they all have different interests.
Despite the drama, relatable for any high school viewer. While other shows place
teens into certain stereotypical groups, One Tree Hill does just the opposite by
allowing everyone to be themselves. Dissimilar from most shows on television and
stereotypes of high school, One Tree Hill does a substantial work of portraying the
diversity of all people by bringing all together.
Peyton Sawyer is not like any typical highschool girl. She is a cheerleader but also
enjoys making dark art. Naturally, she is in her room listening to punk rock music
and drawing. Peyton is pretty uncheery (if one asks Lucas Scott). Therefore, she
doesn t come off as the cheerleader type. The only reason that she is a cheerleader is
because her
44. A Brief Note On The Barrier Of Barrier
5.0 Barrier Analysis
5.1 Definition of barrier (Sklet, 2006) References are added as numbers [1] in the text
and then full name, publication, year etc. will need to be added in the appendix
(already created). If we copy from the text books (even if we provide the reference
from where the text was copied from) we are going to get a bad mark due to
plagiarism (SD)
Safety barrier: A physical and/ or nonphysical means planned to prevent, control, or
mitigate undesired events or accidents
Barrier function: A function planned to prevent, control, or mitigate undesired event
or accidents
Barrier system: A system that has been designed and implemented to perform one or
more barrier functions
5.2 General strategy for barrier (Marvin, 2011)
The plant shall, as far as practicable, be designed to reduce the risk for any
hazardous event to arise and develop into a major accident. In this context, a
hazardous event will typically be release of hydrocarbons to the atmosphere, with
potential to develop into a fire or explosion if ignited.
Inherent safety: The primary means for controlling the risk shall be design for
inherent safety. This is covered by Layout/arrangement and Containment. The
containment function shall prevent any leaks from occurring, and should a leak
occur the layout and arrangement of the plant shall prevent the leak from develop
into a major accident (typically by segregation of equipment, the segregation shall
preferably be by distance).
Minimize: Reducing the
45. The Tragedy Of A Tragic Hero
FORMS
Tragedy. The protagonist (hero or heroine) is overcome in the conflict and meets a
tragic end. The tone is serious and build in the audience a fatalistic sense of the
inevitability of the outcome and, as a result, is sometimes frightening. Yet the
inescapable aspects of the catastrophe serve as a catharsis that somehow inexplicably
purges the viewer of pity and fear. The significance, then, is not that the protagonist
meets with an inevitable catastrophe, but rather the degree to which he or she deals
with the conflict and the tragedy with dignity, courage, and honor.
Basic Ingredients of a Tragedy
Mode: narrative
Protagonist: a tragic hero, honorable, high character, a person of conscience

a superficial involvement based on relevance to their own lives and on familiarity 2.
Detachment arising from less involvement with the fate of the protagonist
Intellectual laughter
Style: friendlier
Includes a sustained plot
Uses humor a laughter invoked by a good natured look at the inconsistencies in
human nature and of life
Uses wit (in non comedic forms referring to wisdom, but in comedy referring to the
bright, intelligent use of words to invoke laughter)
Genre
1.Romantic comedy: the plot revolves around a love story with a happy ending.
Notice: a peculiar characteristic of a romantic comedy is that the heroine often will
pretend that she is a man.
2.Realistic comedy: this form is based on real life, characterized by a cynical tone
and extensive use of satire.
3.Comedy of manners: the contrived, self conscious manners of society. The
characters tend to be stereotypes, with heavy use of satire, clever dialogue, and
forbidden, illicit love; a realistic form practiced during the Restoration, the comedy of
manners is also 0called Restoration comedy.
4.Sentimental comedy: reacting to the immorality extant in the comedy of manners,

46. Weimar Republic Recovery Essay
The Weimar Republic s Recovery by 1929
From 1919 until 1924 the Weimar Republic had somehow managed to survive
political, economic and foreign policy problems. This was followed by a period of
stability and apparent prosperity until 1929, but I am cautious about the extent to
which the Weimar Republic recovered by 1929. There are three main problematic
areas; political, economic and foreign policy.
There were many economic problems that Germany needed to resolve. Germany was
left completely bankrupt after World War Iand the Treaty of Versailles, which meant
that she had to pay reparations of ВЈ6, 600 million. In 1923, the new leader,
Stresemann made important economic changes that were key to ... Show more content

There were high taxes and farming was not doing well. On top of all of this
Germany still had to make reparation payment as the Young Plan just gave her more
time to pay reparations.
Overall I believe that Germany made a good recovery for the time being, They
were stable and I think well on her way to full recovery but there were still big
problems that needed to be resolved. A main problem that was causing Germany a
lot of grief was that she still needed to pay reparations. I think once they pay back
her loans then she will be able to start to make a full recovery but in the long run I
don t think she has recovered completely.
There were also political problems. Stresemann called off the passive resistance in
the Ruhr and agreed to resume reparations payments, then renegotiated the terms of
reparations. After Germany began to make reparations payments, France and
Belgium had no real reason to stay in the Ruhr, which they had occupied since 1923,
and once they had withdrawn the German government could try to establish political
stability. Socialists had become more popular with the middle classes, there were no
more revolutions and even with all of these problems Weimar had survived!
But there were still problems. A main problem was that no political party ever won a
majority and so Germans were still voting for extreme parties. In 1925 Hindenburg
was
47. Mcdonald s Impacts Of Globalization And Technology

that is consistently evolving with strategic management and strategic
competitiveness at the forefront. McDonald s goal is to be a pioneer in delivering
exceptional customer service in meeting the needs of their customers with quality
and affordability. This research will present McDonald s impacts of globalization

McDonald s vision, mission, and stakeholder impacts will be presented which is
essential. Globalization and Technology Change Impacting McDonald s McDonald
s was first established in 1940 by Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino,
California. Their headquarters is now located in Oak Brook, Illinois. Globalization
and technological changes have impacted the way McDonalds conduct business.
Globalization is the increasing economic interdependence among countries and their
organizations as reflected in the flow of goods and services. (Hitt, Ireland, and
Hoskisson, 2013, p.9). McDonalds has grown from one restaurant to a multi
international franchise, servicing millions of customers in over 119 countries. A
minimum of five hundred dollars is needed to open a franchise. The first international
franchise opened, 1967 in British Columbia followed by Costa Rica. What is unique
about the international franchise is every
