tables and throw away people s garage during the event. After the event, I cleared
all the tables from the dross and tablecloths, along with the other volunteers. In

Over the thanksgiving break I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is an
art museum in New York City that has a variety of ancient artwork from different
cultures and time periods. There is paintings and sculptures from Ancient Egypt,
Ancient Rome and Greece. The museum is additionally home to artwork from many
different time periods including ancient Near Eastern Art, Middle Ages and Europe
during the Renaissance. The Met also has artwork from many different religions such
as Christianity and Islam. Each section in the museum had a specific artwork that
attracted my attention. On the first floor of the Met Museum is the Greek and
Roman Art. The Greek and Roman section has hundreds of art work ranging from the
Neolithic period to Roman Emperor Constantine. In the Greek and Roman section
there is many portraits and sculptures including the statue of Emperor Augustus, the
statue of Aphrodite, and the Marble female figure. The sculptures in this section

The writer and Nobel Prize winner, William Cuthbert Faulkner, was born in New

Scandinavia myths, like many other cultures tend to focus on the male gods and
less on the goddesses. Odinn and Odr are the two central gods that are most often
focused on in the Scandinavian culture. Two female figures however, play a fairly
prominent role Freyja and Frigg. The focus of my research is on Freya but the more
information I uncovered the more I realized that with one along comes the other.
Freya and Friggdepending on the mythology are the same person or are two
individual goddesses who were close and complimented one another. From other
religions we know that the same god or goddesscould appear under different names,
usually owning to the fact that he or she once had a by name, which related to a
cult place or a specific function (NГ¤sstrГ¶m 70). I decided to research Freya
because of how closely linked she is to freedom, sexuality and the idea of magic.
Growing up and hearing about Freya she was always talked about as a fairy or
nymph, not as a goddess in the way that I would imagine Ishtar or the Virgin Mary.

attention from historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact,

Really? Not again. I ve been hijacked. I ve just spent three hours on Pinterest
searching for a new recipe for dinner. I don t know if I should be ashamed or

However, I did just lose three hours of my time. I could of finished various tasks in
those three hours. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart technology is making me
dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things: phone books,
directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I
believe smart technology will hijack our lives.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example,
smart technology can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls,
balancing a bank account, paying bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting
directions, etc. Many people take advantage of this. They may use their laptop,
iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll admit it, I have a
favorite app myself. Pinterest! I ll lose hours on end getting lost in the app. However,
smart technology does have better uses. Henry Ford community college student,
Shandra Dicks, found a useful way to use smart technology. Dicks, loves to spend her
spare time running. She also likes to keep track of her progress from day to day.

When most people think of wetlands the first thing that will pop into their mind
will be visions of swamps and flooded plains. These marshy lands would seem to
have no purpose, while in reality they are the most precious form of ecosystem that
we have in America. Wetlands contribute to biodiversity, clean water, flood control,
