No Fault Divorce On Equal Footing
No fault divorce has allowed women and men (and more recently, same sex couples) the option to
end their marriage simply because they no longer want to be married. However, this presents new
legal questions which need to be answered. The courts must determine alimony, or spousal support.
After a marriage, one spouse might need to support the other based on length of the marriage,
difference in incomes or lost earning potential. However, determining a fair way to allocate alimony
is an important issues to ensure both partners come out of the marriage on equal footing.
Establishing new guidelines for alimony is critical to ensuring that there is equality at the end
of a marriage. Marriage in our country is changing along with our culture and society. Obergefell
v Hodges opened marriage to people of all sexual orientations, allowing all to marry who they
wish, regardless of sex. Additionally, the amount of people who are married is declining. In
2013, just half of American adults were married, compared to 72% in 1960 (Pew). Since our
society as a whole has been reconsidering marriage, we should also consider how marriages end
and what factors should be considered when distributing assets, alimony and child support. Right
now, trial courts are allowed discretion in determining alimony and the factors considered vary
wildly across all fifty states (Rhode 2014; 76 77). This means there is no guarantee for women or
men seeking support. This issue impacts women in particular,

Introduction
I consume all non processed food, I m on a gluten sugar grain legume, alcohol and dairy FREE
DIET. ... Ok then YES, just an occasional drop of alcohol... My diet is successful and very healthy
through using the 80 20 rule.
After my body s non acceptance of dairy and processed food (along with a whopping 65% of the
worlds population), I endured years of suffering with digestion issues, stomach bloating and ill
health. I am now diagnosed lactose intolerant.
I have written this book to share with you the incredible health benefits, delicious healthy recipes
and the foundation of the diet of the paleolithic man and woman, of course.
Over the past 3 years, I wanted to know if the paleo diet was in fact healthy. Throughout this
cookbook you will discover some amazing evidence, some common sense, some healthy motivators
and some REAL ah ha moments, backed up to date research that supports the delicious recipes of
this amazing evolutionary food.
What I share with you leaves me with NO DOUBT as to what diet we should ALL be eating today.
The Paleo diet is the diet that I live by using the 80 20 rule, 80% of the time I stick to this diet
with a 20% margin for straying outside, (this does happen), less often than it did initially, but it
does take any pressure away from diet failure.
Today I have NO health concerns and lead a healthy active life. I no longer ignore the effects that
processed food has had on my health and wellness. The undeniable evidence is,

Letters From An American Farmer
Primary sources like letters, drawings, engravings and other original documents play a great role in
learning and understanding history. Sometimes such document can tell us about the past even more
than a history textbook, because it has direct relation to the past and connected with the historical
period by the author s personal feelings, thoughts and memories about the past. In 1782 a French
writer Hector St. John de Crevecoeur published Letters from an American Farmer , where he put the
beginning to the famous idea of the United Statesas a melting pot of different nations and cultures
that harmonically mixed together and created a new American nation. The excerpt from the
mentioned Crevecoeur s work dipped me in America of post revolutionary period, when newborn
and independent country appeared and new nation was created, and gave an opportunity to imagine
what the idea of an American man was in the reflection of a new coming immigrant from Europe.
In Letters from an American Farmer Hector St. John de Crevecoeur appealed to the European
readers in order to tell them about new country and give them an idea of what was the man of the
New World; what were his values and principles. From the very beginning the author describes a
member of a new formed nation and mentions the new government an American man follows: He
is an American, who, leaving behind him all his antient prejudices and manners, receives new ones
from the new mode of life he has embraced, the new

Danielle Edelman s The Importance Of Trust
Building trust in a business is vitally important to the success and how the business is viewed by its
employees, consumers, investors, and the community in which they operate in.
In the September 4 10, 2015 of the Houston Business Journal, an article written by Danielle Allen
titled, The Power of Trust and How to build it. She gives an overview of how to build trust and the
impact it has on businesses and consumers. In this article Ms. Allen reveals a study done by
Edelman in the past 15 years. In this study, Edelman tracked trust in business as well as the
behaviors that drive or exhaust trust. As a result of this survey and the findings there of, trust
carries important inferences for the future success of businesses. For example, to

Why Is Presidential Leadership Rating The Best And The...
The United States since its adoption of the Constitution in 1787 has accumulated total amount
forty five presidents over two hundred and thirty years. These forty five presidents as history
and the United States continues, will be the subject of analysts throughout history, who will try
to rank them from the best to the worst. The book written by James Taranto and Leonard Leo,
Presidential Leadership: Rating the Best and the Worst in the White House is one of these
analytical books shoving the presidents into a ranking by using a survey of professors of history,
law and political science to rate them. This book by Leo and Taranto focus on a handful of prime
objectives for the readers to overserve while reading the book. The first is to... Show more content

One reason I that this book is a great read is that it is easily a readable book for any person who
is looking for a general reference for presidential history. The unique perspective given by the
wide verity of authors provide the reader with a great historical importance that each president
had on the office is another aspect that makes this book worth reading. Finally, the most
surprising aspect that made this book a decent read is that the authors did somewhat succeed on
their attempt to provide a well balanced and un biased ranking of the presidents through survey
of professional scholars. Although, there are a few more aspects to this historical and political
work that makes it a great read there are flaws that make this book s ranking of the presidents a
little questionable. The first and most likely the hardest to see is that the many authors that wrote
the essays of each president did not agree with the survey results while some did. The second
flaw is that not every president up to George W. Bush is represented on the ranking appendix on
pages elven and twelve. The authors mention that presidents George W. Bush, the ninth president
William Henry Harrison, and 20th president James Garfield is not being represented on the chart
(pg. 12). George W. Bush not being the chart is understandable because this survey and
information gathering did take place before his election, but the other two are being left out for the
reasons of short terms (pg. 12). I

Effects of Climatic Elements on Livestock Production
EFFECTS OF CLIMATIC ELEMENTS ON LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION SALAMI, Saheed

INTRODUCTION
Climatic elements have direct effect on the system of animal production, body physiology and
animal behaviour, feed supply and quality, proliferation of pests and parasites as well as
preservation of animal products (Samson et al., 2011)
A number of climatic elements such as temperature, rainfall, humidity, radiant energy, air
movement, light, altitude etc. greatly influence and interact with the performance of livestock

The body temperature of most domestic animals is considerably higher than the environmental
temperature to which they are exposed most of the time. They maintain their body temperatures by
balancing internal heat production and heat loss to the environment. The hypothalmus gland acts as
a body thermostat by stimulating mechanisms to counteract either high or low ambient
temperatures (FAO, 1986). For example, increased conversion of feed to heat energy is used to
counteract low ambient temperatures, while for example increased respiration (rate and volume)
and blood circulation in the skin counteracts high ambient temperatures. Varying temperature also
results in changed behavior . Most animals reduce their level of activity in a hot environment and,
for example, pigs lie clustered in a heap at low temperatures, while they lie

Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary
What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting
which suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform
her but it intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was
uncertain whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann
(graceful) leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her
destiny. The heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral
symbolism. However, it is the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent
girls hope for visionary glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the
mental state of the subject sometimes through contrast and ironyas well. We see an altar, a private
devotional space so we have a sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation
which in turn accentuates the theme of longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a
church like atmosphere of marriage is being created in Mariana s room which is never possible.
Mariana still wears a waistband which can symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly
visible against the deep hue of her dress. The presence of the only animal in the painting, that is the
mouse, who seems to be her ironic companion and in terms of materiality it is equated with
Mariana s secluded existence. The

Adventures Of An Engineer s Thumb Essay
In the short story The Adventures of an Engineer s Thumb , written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
a hydraulic engineer named Victor Hatherley seeks the help of Dr. Watson and Sherlock Homes
as he is brought to them with a broken thumb. Hatherley then explains that he accepted a job
offering from a mysterious man named Colonel Lysander Stark. Stark tasked him to look at one
of his hydraulic press machines that he owns. He says that he uses this machine to process a
specific type of clay which is found on his land. Stark tells Hatherley that he himself can t be seen
working on his property for fear of his neighbors finding out that he had stuck into a gold mine.
Even though Hatherley was unconvinced of Stark s explanation, he decided to accept the job
because he was in need of money. It was only after examining the hydraulic press that Hatherley
found out that the press was being used for heinous purposes. Stark then realizes that Hatherley
found out about his plans so he tries to kill him but only manages to cut Hatherley s thumb.... Show

Even though engineers have the ability to design and manufacture things that have the potential of
increasing productivity and proficiency, they can also lead to destructive inventions. Consider the

the Third Reich used it to identify Jews and other ethic minorities which lead to the Holocaust.
Even though the IBM engineers had not designed the machine to be used to discriminate, they will

Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Program
Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution When we are young we tend to not think about the
future and what we can do today to ensure we are able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
Financial planning is extremely important to all of us whether we are wanting a new boat in the
near future or a retirement home in Arizona. As a young adult entering the workforce straight out
of high school or a recent college graduate, choices will be made as to the type of career you will
follow, the location of employment, the employer and the starting wages all of these will affect
our financial future. Some decisions are made for us, such as what type of retirement program(s)
are offered by our employer, will you enroll or do they offer them at all. Since the turn of the
century it is no longer commonplace for someone to start their employment career and end it with
the same employer. Therefore, when researching a future employer, understanding the retirement

How Did Socrates Spent The Most Of His Life
Socrates spent most of his life in Athens. During his life he witnessed the rise and glory of Athens

The speakers aim to persuade others in believing what the speaker is saying. Socrates is
compelled to make speech in court to defend himself. Socrates replaces the speech that is
common in Athenian courts and exercises his own kind of cross examination, whenever law
permits him to do so. He proceeds according to his method of examining by questions and
answers. Also, he wishes to converse with judges for more than one day and perhaps convince
them that his accusers are wrong. Socrates acquired a bad reputation because he has some
special wisdom as his accusers are saying. This is based on the account of Chaerephon, Socrates
friend. Chaerephon asked the Delphic oracle who is the wisest. The oracle s answer was that
Socrates is the wisest. When Socrates heard the story, he was perplexed how this possibly could be
the truth. Socrates went and questioned poets, craftsman, and politicians. He made enemies for
himself during his quest for wisdom. Socrates realized and ...formed opinion that, although the man
thought to be wise by many other people, and especially himself, yet in reality he was not. Through
this process Socrates came to conclusion that only god is truly wise, and Socrates wisdom is worth
nothing. With this confession Socrates sets up tension against the absurd charge of impiety. For
Socrates, piety refers to his mission based on the conviction

Jason And Medea Research Paper
The story of Jason and Medea is a tragedy that tells of love, hate, overcoming obstacles, and death.
The story, though, begins long before Jason and Medea meet. To really understand the story, we
start with Jason s childhood.
Jason is the son of King Aeson of Iolcas. When Jason was a baby, his father s thrown was overtaken
by Pelias, Jason s half uncle, when he killed all of Aeson s children except Jason. To protect
Jason, he was sent to live with the centaur Chiron. In the meantime, Pelias had succeeded in
taking over the thrown, he thanked all the gods except Hera and he consulted an oracle who told
him to be weary of a man with one sandal for that man would be Pelias downfall. As an adult,
Jason decided to return to Iolcas and take back his father s crown. While traveling to Iolcas, at
the river Anauros, Hera, a goddess, presented Jason with a test. Disguised as an old woman, she
began to pretend to flounder in the water. Jason having seen her struggle jumped in the water to
save her. Due to his chivalry, Hera blessed Jason, as he was carrying her across the river he lost one

Aristotle though described tragedy as a way for playwrights to sway the audience into feelings
of pity or even fear. This tale follows two people so caught up in their own selves that their
situations leave you feeling both pity and fear for both characters. Jason, in my opinion, was
living a life directed by gods. Each test he overcame was with the help of a god. He never really
completed anything on his own. His battles were fought by others including Hercules and
Polydeuces. It really makes you pity him. It s like his life was not his own. Medea on the other hand
lived her life as she saw fit. Her headstrong attitude and special powers made her dangerous. If
Jason had feared her as he should have, he would have seen the peril he was inflicting on himself.
Medea s love for Jason was so

Planned Market And Mixed Market Economies
Planned, Market, and Mixed Economies
Each country has its own economic system, a system for allocating its resources among its citizens,
both individual and organizations (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). There are three economic systems:
planned economies, market economies, and mixed market economies. Economic systems are
defined by how the five factors of productions are handled: labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical
resources, and information resources. Factors of production are the resources that a country s
businesses use to produce goods and services (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11).
Planned Economies
A planned economy can be defined as an economy that relies on a centralized government to
control all or most factors of production and to make all or most production and allocation
decisions (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 12). There are two forms of planned economies: communism, in
which the government owns and operates all factors of productions, and socialism, where the
government owns and operates only selected factors of productions. China and North Korea are
both examples of current communist countries; Denmark and Sweden are both examples of current
socialist countries.
Planned Economies and Labor Factor of Production
People who work for businesses provide labor. Labor, sometimes called human resources, includes
the physical and intellectual contributions people make while engaging in economic productions
(Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). In a communist planned

Beauty Character Analysis
Over the course of the novel, one can see that each character has a different attitude and mindset
towards the beauty standards created in the early 1940s. Characters like Frieda and Claudia do not
agree with the beauty standards set by society. Claudia is seen to represent an automatic rejection
of external standards that were impossible for her to meet (Gonzalez 210). They find flaws in
Maureen Peal to prove she is not perfect and they call her mean names. Also, throughout the novel,
Claudia has a hatred for what people determine is beautiful. She would dismember her white
baby dolls to try and find the beauty in them that other people saw. Claudia would examine each
part of the doll, trying to find an ounce of beauty in it until she was left with the metal ball inside
of it. In addition, Claudia hates Shirley Temple, whereas Frieda and Pecola find her cute. Claudia
hates her because she danced with Bojangles whom Claudia referred to as my friend, my uncle,
my daddy... (Morrison 19). She was jealous and mad that a little white girl got to dance with
Bojangles, a black man. Also, Claudia preferred Jane Withers, who played opposite Shirley
Temple in the film Bright Eyes. For the most part Claudia and Frieda do not strive to meet the
beauty standards created by society. On the other hand, Pecola strives to achieve the ideal beauty.
She wants to become the white, blonde hair, and blueeyed girl that society deems as beautiful.
People commonly referred Pecola as ugly.

(Gale) However, health issues are not the only challenges an overweight child or adolescent
often faces. Obese children often must also deal with many psychological and emotional
challenges such as a loss of self esteem, depression, anxiety. Not only can obesity in childhood
create difficulties with social development and interfere with education, but it can also create the
opportunity for the children to become victims of harassment and bullying. In addition, as pre
teens hit puberty, obesity can become especially challenging. (Gale) A girl s concerns about her
appearances increase as her body develops and she becomes more aware of society s views of

Personal Exermination
Kenneth J Hutchins once said, It is your determination and persistence that will make you a
successful person. This quote defines me as a person, because I feel like my whole life has been
revolved around trying to be a successful person, but without my drive of determination that
wouldn t happen. To be a determined person you have to believe in yourself and constantly
encourage yourself, to keep going no matter the circumstances. I ve always been determined to
get things done either in school or outside of school, I ve always been this type of person. I feel
like in order to be successful in life you have to have that desire to succeed. Of course there will be
challenges along the road for me but what will definitely help mealong the road will be my
determination of succeeding, with all of my determination I will be able to overcome all of the
challenges this world has to throw at me. I have found from working hard in this world you can
make the impossible, possible. My determination and drive of succeeding has really set me apart
from other people throughout the years. For example, It was my first cross country meet as a
middle schooler the heat was unbearable. It was so hot outside you could probably cook an egg
on the sidewalk, you could barely feel any breeze of air. Everyone was expecting me to not do so
well since it was my first meet and I had never done this type of thing before. But I was so
determined to medal and people kept asking me on the day of the meet, Do you think you ll medal
for this? and I continued telling people, YES I m going to medal!!. When I was running that race I
just thoughtto myself Be Strong and that s what was keeping me strong, my family and friends
that were cheering me on was another big thing that was keeping me sane throughout the whole
race. I medaled ninth in my race and that was a very big accomplishment for myself. I was very
proud of myself considering I d never done this type of thing before. Being determined really
helped me throughout this whole race and without having that drive of wanting to succeed I
wouldn t have been able to have done this. I believe that by having a positive attitude and striving to

Essay on Monarch Butterfly
The monarch butterfly, as known as Danaus plexippus, is often called the milkweed butterfly

many other interesting facts about this butterfly including its anatomy and life cycle, where the
butterfly lies on the food chain, the migration from Canada to Mexico, why the butterfly is being

Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has toxins which make the wings of the
butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks nectar while the caterpillar eats the
milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is Asclepias ssp. or milkweed (Wexler, 1994).
The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh conditions on the northern US. They move south
from areas of southern Canada and most of the US to a few sites in Mexico (Grzimek s, 2003).
They migrate itself usually takes three to four generations of monarchs (Clattenburg, 2004).
Scientists do not know why they migrate, but there are different theories. The first theory is the
change of light in fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others scientists claim the monarchs have a
chemical in their bodies in which they are attracted to Mexico where the congregate in certain trees
(Clattenburg, 2004). The latter does not explain why monarchs stay in Southern Florida as
permanent residents (Emmel, 1999).
Three different things are endangering the monarch butterfly. First, is the deforestation of Mexico.
Through illegal logging of the forests and the thinning of the canopy the monarchs are left
vulnerable to the elements including frost and freezing rain (Wexler, 2004). Second, is a

Personal Ethical Argument
The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right
and wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of
these principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right
and wrong was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on
man s opinions and attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless.
Furthermore, God shows that right and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He
states His warning, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition
to this principle, I also came to believe that man is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all
powerful, He created man to give Himself glory, and He desires what is best for us. Like the two
previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as himself, was constructed out of a faith in
God and in His infallible Word. Man is called to perform this practice because, as the Bible states,
God ... first loved us. (1 John 4:19)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, one also may improve in identifying which actions are right and wrong in moral
dilemmas. An example of this would be when I considered quitting my youth group band.
Although I loved my role in the group, it was wrong for me to continue; it was hypocritical to be
in a leadership role with an unclean heart. By understanding that right and wrong are absolute, I
knew that it did not matter if it was me or another person, it was wrong. Because of this reality, I

Dune Theme
Dune, the science fiction twin of Lord of the Rings , an epic unrivaled in it scope since it was
published in 1965. The book combines politics, religion, science fiction, and familial relations.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the book is are the Fremen the native residents of Arrakis,
fanatical fighters who are able to overcome even the Sardaukar, the Emperor s private troops who
are feared throughout the galaxy for never having been defeated. Shaped by centuries of
persecution, and by the impossible climate of Arrakis, they have become the pinnacle of what
humanity can achieve physically. Herbert shows the theme of greatness coming from adversity
throughout the book, with the Fremen, the Sardaukar, and Paul. Greatness from adversity is first
explored by Herbert with the Sardaukar, the Emperor s fearsome troops. Sourced from his private
prison planet Salusa Secundus, the Sardaukar are the most feared troops in the galaxy. Sardaukar:

Great Smoky Mountain National Park Research Papers
If you like to seek out rare sights when you travel, make plans to visit the Great Smoky Mountain
National Park in mid June. For there, each year, you can take a nighttime hike and watch as
millions of fireflies put on a show you ll never forget. It isn t the masses of flickering flies that
begin to spark about 9:00 PM, although that is a pretty enough sight. What s unbelievable is that
these fireflies are synchronous they fire all together, as if on command. the show lasts about a
half hour, and it s something you ll never forget. The firefly show usually starts about June 8th
and continues for about ten days. You can check with the Smoky Mountain National Park for
dates each year, and get information about how to access the viewing trails. June is the only
time you can see this remarkable nature show. And the Smokies are one of only two places in
the world that synchronous fireflies are known to exist. The other colony of synchronous
fireflies is in Malaysia, in Southeast Asia. No one knows why the beetles (fireflies are a type of
beetle) are able to flash in sync or even why they do. Of the many species of fireflies in the park,
only the Photinus Carolinus is synchronous. The show, which begins in earnest about 9:30 PM, is

We Don t Need Internet Censorship
Censorship is an extremely controversial issue. There have been hundreds of thousands of essays
written about whether or not censorship on the Internet is right or wrong, but so far, no precise
conclusion has surfaced. I ve researched into the topic, but I haven t completely sided with one or
the other. There are just good reasons against censorship. This essay briefly discussessome reasons
why the Internet should be censored, but will then mainly focus on reasons why the Internet should
not be censored.
The most prominent issue dealing with censorship is the fact that there is child pornography readily

She believes that if we are using taxpayers dollars to pay for Internet access, then those institutions
also have an obligation to act to restrict this type of material. Buechner knows that there is illegal
material on the Internet, and it should be treated as such, but she understands that libraries are
obligated to meet the information needs of the entire community while upholding the First

On the other hand, there are many reasons against the idea of censoring the Internet. An article
from NBC.COM discusses that the Internet is not broadcast television or radio, but a
constellation of printing presses and bookstores. Therefore, it can t and must not be regulated any

Importance Of Visit To A Shinto Church
I decided to write about my visit to a Shinto Church as my cultural experience. The church I
visited is called Izumo Taisha Mission of Hawaii. I had actually been to this church many times
since I was a child to participate in Japanese cultural events, but I have little knowledge of what the
Shinto religionactually practices. This is also the shrine where my family goes for our New Year s
blessing ritual. Since turning to Christianity, I still liked to attend the church s events and New Year
s ritual, but other than that, I just didn t have the desire to learn more about Shinto. Based on my
fieldwork into the appearance, clothing, and rituals of Shinto, I theorize that Shinto is religion to
focuses highly on keeping one s body and soul pure and in good fortune through worship to
multiple God s.
When I visited the church, I had scheduled the meet the Bishop, Daiya Amano. He has been a
friend of my family for a long time, and he was happy to share the Shinto culture despite
knowing I had already chosen my belief. Shinto is one of the two primary religions of Japan,
and the church is a good place for tourist and local Japanese to pay their respects to. Shinto is a
religion of polytheism and animism, and thus, believes in God s of animate and inanimate objects.
Shinto believes that every aspect of life has a God in charge. There s a God of nature, weather,
business, knowledge, war, fishing, etc. Shinto practices a worship to these God s so that they may

Essay on The Seafarer s Internal Conflict
One of the greatest conflicts that every human must face is a conflict within his or her self. These
sorts of internal conflicts are created and fought within our minds. The Seafarer, one of the oldest
surviving Old English poems, depicts a man, who, despite being wise, is still desperate to find
meaning to his existence. He is in exile, and because of this, his mindis in a state of desolation. He
has conflicts within his own psyche seemingly questioning his very existence. He is desperate to
find meaning in his life, which is full of despair and sorrow. His psychological state of mind
develops from a state of desolation and exile, to realization of his Being, to finally finding a new
meaning in his life through his manifestation and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The desolation that the speaker goes through is so extreme, in fact, that it is as if he is numb. The
speaker finally reaches his lowest point in the first part of the story, where it seems as if he
drowns in his own desolation and loneliness. The open sea seems to swallow him. With these
thoughts of his existence, the Seafarer suddenly starts to become conscious of his very own being,
and realizes more about human nature. The speaker recalls of being pulled toward the suffering,
being drawn toward his isolation that he is in. This could be a psychological aspect of the
speaker in which his subconscious mind tries to punish the speaker for what he has done in the
past. It could also be his mind interpreting the fact that if he goes through this suffering, he will
find something greater. It is thus a paradox, then, when the seafarer says he is seeking foreigners
homes (Raffel 19), because as he searches on and on, he is isolated more and more from the
values that seek as a representation of these homes. The speaker introduces themes centric to the
poem, which are stated as: pride, greatness, boldness, youth, seriousness, and grace (Raffel 19).
The speaker then asserts that these virtuous themes will disappear one day, when one must rely on
God s judgment, and God s mercy. With the implications of God, come the attributions the speaker
asserts toward Fate, and the influence that Fate conjures in the lives of people. The speaker

Access to this market would have been impossible due to government regulations and other non

Science depends on research. Consider our limited opportunities our lives are brief; our vision is
limited; and we can make huge mistakes, when it comes to events we think were before Bible
history. Here are a few examples:
How often the supposed deductions from some scientists are revised or cast aside;
With what readiness the assumed period of the earth s development is from time to time increased
or diminished by millions of years;
How the theories advanced by different scientists conflict with one another,
Considering all this, do we prefer to trace our descent from germs and mollusks and apes when
we could have an infinitely better genealogy: God created man in His own image, in the image of
God created He him ? Genesis 1:27.
We will look at some scientific evidence below, but first we see Bible history is supported by the
science of archeology back to Genesis 11. a chapter with the Towel of Babel that is the basis of the

Feasibility of Geothermal Energy in the United States Abstract Over the past years, gasoline and
electricity have been the leading energy resources. The search for an alternative source of energy
has become a complicated problem for scientists and an economic dilemma for America s public.
Scientists have been trying to recognize geothermal energy as the next leading source of energy. In
this research paper, I account for the inexpensive costs and different methods of gathering the
geothermal energy of America. Geothermal energy is a renewable energy resource which can heat
and cool buildings. Although there are some by products, using a particular type of system can help
stop their emission. In conclusion, the use of geothermal energy... Show more content on

The pipes hold water, or glycol, transferring the heat inside buildings, which is known as heat
exchange (Solar4Scolars, para. 2 and 3). Feasibility of Geothermal Energy in the United States 3
Government funded research into obtaining geothermal energy was greatly dynamic in the 1970s
and early 1980s. However, as oil prices declined in the mid 1980s, alternative energy sources
declined, thus, funding for geothermal energy research greatly reduced. Consequently, this
monetary difficulty stifled any advancement on geothermal technology. Now that energy concerns
have resurfaced, an opportunity exists for the U.S. to pursue the EGS [Enhanced Geothermal
Systems] option aggressively to meet long term national needs, as observed by MIT Professor
Jefferson Tester (MIT, January 22, 2007, para. 19). Based on previous studies, there is evidence that
geothermal energy has a hopeful future in helping the United States. To study the potential use of
geothermal energy, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) found from experimental
procedures that mining heat stored as thermal energy can supply electricity at competitive prices
and cause little detriment to the environment. The study showed that drilling wells that reached hot
rock and connecting them to regions of fractured rock stimulated water flow. Relating to geothermal
energy, this exchange of heat produced large amounts of steam and hot water to run

Character Analysis Of Jack And Jack In Lord Of The Flies
Jack vs Ralph Stranded. Alone. Savage. Who will step up to be the leader? A plane full of boys
stranded on an island with no grown ups, and no way off the island. At first it s a vacation, no
adults means fun and play. When they realize that their parents might not be able to save them
this time, it s a struggle for chief between Jack and Ralph. Who is going to be able to carry out
this important role? Who s going to get them home? Who s going to be able to keep them alive
just while they are on the island? Ralph is the best fit leader because he brings order and rules to
the island and is doing everything he can to get them off of the island and back home. Although
Ralph is focused on getting them rescued, while Jack is focusing on how to keep them alive
while they are on the island. For example, Jack finally killed a pig. Look we ve killed a pig we
stole up on them we got in a circle (chapter 4 page 69). Then the boys were able to feast on meat
because they ve been eating fruits and nuts for so long. In that way Jack was their provider.
Although the meat will make them happy for a little bit, eventually they will get hungry again.
That s when they will realize rescue was more important. Ralph also tends to just make orders and
expect other people to carry it through. For instance, Just giving orders that don t make sense
(Chapter 5 page 91). Ralph actually was making sense but the boys were too immature to

Equality In Huck Finn
The grasping novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is written by the author Mark Twain.
It is set in St. Petersburg, Missouri, on the banks of the Missouri River. Considering this novel
was most likely written in the mid 1800s, people are treated differently than others depending on
their skin color, gender, or religion. Twain wanted the protagonist, Huck Finn, to make a point of
equality. This is made obvious when Huck befriends an African American house slave, Jim.
Equality is a strong message in this novel: from the color of your skin, to your reading level, to
your social class. Huck has very strong opinions and feelings about everyone he encounters. The
novel begins with Huck living with the Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson.... Show more

Brief History Of Beer Is The Most Popular Alcoholic...
Brief History of Beer
Beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage worldwide, and the third most popular drink overall
after water and tea. The average American drinks the equivalent of 38 six packs of beer, a dozen
bottles of wine and two quarts of distilled spirits like gin, rum, single malt Scotch, or vodka a year,
according to the New York Times.
Research has shown that people have been brewing this famous beverage as early as several
thousand years before the Common Era. Recent studies claim that the production and consumption
of beer was a major factor in the development of civilized society, arguing that the important and
often spiritual role beer played in traditional ceremonies and feasts contributed to the development

Production Understanding how beer is fermented is important to recognize the importance of
several raw ingredients required in the process. Pure water, quality malts and hops are essential
in the brewing process. A source of pure water is necessary to brew good beer. As such, the
water used in brewing is purified to rigidly set standards. If it does not have the proper calcium
or acidic content for maximum activity of the enzymes in the mash, it must be brought up to
that standard. Barley, which is the main raw material in beer, must first be left to begin to
germinate. This process is called malting. This prerequisite stage of production of beer forms an
industry in itself, called the malting industry. During the malting process, the grain is allowed
to germinate with heated water in a vat for a process known as mashing . Then it is spread out in
layers for a week to germinate and finally germination is halted by drying in a kiln or by a
kilning process. This beginning of germination is called the malting. During the malting process
the grain is first steeped for approximately three days, then it is spread out in layers for a week to
germinate and finally germination is halted by drying in a kiln or by a kilning process. The
germination process creates a number of enzymes, notably alfa amylase and beta amylase, which
will be used to convert the starch in the grain into sugar. Depending on the amount of roasting, the
malt will take on dark colour and strongly

Views On The Historical Adam Essay
Four views on the historical Adam consists of four prominent biblical scholars, who together,
provided there understanding of scripture to a project that shed light on the figure identified in
Genesis 1 as Adam. The four contributors to this book are: Dr. Denis Lamoureux, Dr. John
Walton, Dr. C. John Collins, and Dr. William Barrick. Four Views on the Historical Adam visibly
outlines four key views on the Genesis figure Adam held by evangelicals. The content provided is
theologically consistent in some ways, while in others, scientifically plausible for the one who may
be struggling to reconcile their interpretation of Adam with both modern science and with passages
found in the Bible.
As mentioned in the introduction there is a huge debate strong at present in Christianity on the
life of Adam and Eve. Though many may not bother to care, as a tool in apologetics it is
important that we are not caught off guard by the questions that exist regarding of their actual
existence. So I ask, did they exist? If so, is it possible that Adam wasn t the first ever human? If
not, how are we sinners because of his original sin? So to answer my first question, I will start off
by providing Dr. Lamoureux position on the matter. Dr. Lamoureux very humbly asserts Adam
never existed, and this fact has no impact whatsoever on the foundational beliefs of Christianity (p.
38). Though he stated that he had no intention of converted one to side with his view, and that he

The Warrior Chief flanked by Warriors and Attendants is an art piece from the Nigerian state of
Benin. It s a brass artwork made using a process called wax casting which involves creating molds
into the desired shapes and pouring molten metal (in this case brass) into the molds. As the name
suggests this art piece shows a chief with his warriors and attendants. Outside of these obvious

and symbolism that narrate the artist s story behind the artwork.
A close examination of this piece concluded that this artwork is a form of propaganda; which
serves the purpose of showing the power, prestige and authority of a figure. The artist purposefully
made the middle figure the most captivating and attention drawing figure for this reason. As such

Piggy And Jack In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Piggy and Jack cannot get along because of their clashing, yet similar, types of intelligence.
Piggy is classified as the intelligent character, thinking everything through carefully and
efficiently. Where Jack is smart in a manipulative way, and gained power by persuading and
tricking the boys on the island to be their leader. Piggy s intelligence can be seen through his
rational ideas. For example, Piggy recommends to use the conch to control the boys: We can use
this to call the others. Have a meeting. They ll come when they hear us. The meeting that Piggy
calls shows his desire to create a civil environment on the island. Piggy has smart ideas that
influenced everyone in a positive way. Jack, however, has an opposite type of intelligence,... Show

From the start of the book, Piggy is described as a restricted character. He is limited by both
physical and mental confinements. At his first description, Piggy explains how he can t run, on
account of (his) asthma. (5) From this characteristic of Piggy, it limits his leadership. Most good
leaders have no restrictions, even from physical health; they are strong both physically and
mentally. Piggy is also not mentally cut out to be leader. When Jack is introduced, Piggy is
described as being intimidated by this uniformed superiority and the offhand authority in
Merridew s voice. (13) Piggy is daunted by the strong authority shown in others, which is not a
quality a good leader possesses. Unlike Piggy, Jack gained power at one point on the island, but
like Piggy, he always lacked strong leadership. Jack is an impulsive character, which is
ultimately bad for everyone on the island. Given his crave for hunting, it is easy to understand
that Jack puts his main focus into killing, rather than surviving. Jack drew his knife again with a
flourish, (23) Jack has a compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up. (42) A
good leader is confident and strong, and they think ahead, taking into account every problem. Jack
and Piggy both wanted a high position in the hierarchy, but ultimately both can not reach that due to
their lack of good leadership. This similarity sets the boys up

Richard Wagner Characteristics
We are still waiting for the man who can compose and write a genuine opera. (Furness 14). That
man was Wilhelm Richard Wagner he was known for his operas and other compositions which
influenced many other composers. Wagner wrote many amazing operas, compositions, and poetic
lyrics. Some think he wasn t so important, but some even think he was one of the best holding him
up to Beethoven for his compositions (Furness 7). Wagner s best composition from his career is a
composition called Der Rings Des Nibelungen, which is a composition that is eighteen hours long
and four operas which had reoccurring themes connecting them all together. Firstly, Richard Wagner
was born on May 22 ,1813 in Leipzig, Germany. Wagner had eight siblings, five sisters and three
brothers. He never had much talent in music when he was attending a school in Dresden,
Germany. He played the piano a horrible way and his teacher told him he wouldn t be much
because he couldn t manage to play properly (Newman 46). He had trouble understanding the
terms of the music as a child he knew what they use where he just didn t know how they were
announced. He also struggled in his life when it came to see who his father was even some
would say Richard s facial features resembled his father Carl Friedrich Wagner who passed away
just months after he was born, but an actor named Ludwig Geyer who married Wagner s mother
was on the list of whether he was the father or not. While the only thing they compared Richard

This immersive historical experience tells the full story of the most notable aviatrix the world has
ever known. She was a best selling author, founder of the female aviation organization the Ninety
Nines, and the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Earhart is of course most
notable for her Perdue funded attempt to circumnavigate the globe in her Lockheed Model 10
Electra, which she of course did not complete and has been the subject of much speculation after
her disappearance. This home of her birth was her grandparents when she was born there in 1897.

A Research Study On The Axon Essay
1.A neuron is a cell that receives messages from receptors and then sends them to other neurons.
The structure consists of multiple parts. Starting with the dendrites, short projections out of the
cell body that are very tree like because of the branch like appearance. They receive the electrical
impulses from the receptors and the impulses flow into the cell body or soma. The soma is the part
of the cell that is the main part of the neuronthat holds the nucleus and cytoplasm. It makes it so
the whole cell is working and being alive, in other words the body. Then the electrical impulse is
sent down through axon. The axon is a thin extension out of the soma. It acts like a cable or cord.
The axon has a protective coating called the myelin sheath. It s made up of a mix of fat and
proteins. Then once the impulse has traveled through the axon it exits that individual neuron
through the short knobs on the ends of the extended fibers from the axon called the axon terminals.
The axon terminals the talkers of the neuron. Its job is to communicate with other cells. The way it
communicates is through this little junction called the synapse. The electrical impulse then repeats
the process going from neuron to neuron until it either reaches the brainor the spinal cord.
2.Neurons communicate through electrical impulses and chemicals. This all happens within the
small space in between the axon terminal and the next neurons dendrites. This space is filled with
fluids which have

Agamemnan, The Inferno, Don Quixote Essay
Agamemnon, The Inferno, and Don Quixote may seem to be vastly different stories written across
centuries of time and within incongruous cultures but the three tales share related themes. * Set
among the ruling family of Argos, Aeschylus s Agamemnon examines the topic of justice: ancient
eye for an eye progressing toward modern disinterested justice, attributing all to the gods.
Similarly, in Dante Alighieri s Inferno each sinner is placed in a punishment to fit his crime: divine
perfection of justice. * Miguel de Cervantesapproaches the other side of justice, Don Quixote
questions what happens when an antiquated or fictional moral code is put into play in a different
time or place. * What is Justice? Aeschylus suspends justice somewhere... Show more content on

* Aegisthus says as much in his speech on page 302, It feasts my eyes /he pays for the plot his
father s hand contrived. Although Aegisthus claims he is the weaver of Justice and plotted out
the kill, we FIRST PERSON LANGUAGE!! The syllabus says the Test fails here. are told by the
Chorus that [Zeus] lays it down as law that we must suffer, suffer into truth. According to them,
Justice is not meted out by man s will alone, but as a cog in the machine of the gods; a means to a
divine end. *
In the following plays, the wheel comes full circle as Agamemnon s son comes home to avenge
his death, by killing his mother Clytemnestra. Under the system in which they have labored to
this point, her death should beget the death of her son and so one SP. However, having been
killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged.
There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer,
better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until
a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the
imperfection of the old system.
Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is
melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the
ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer

Character Analysis Of Friar Lawrence
Friar lawrence is like a leaf in a different color. He is more close to Romeo than many people in
the play; he deeply cares about the peace and wants to stop the feud, and is considered a holy
man. The author of the play Romeo and Juliet is William Shakespeare. A main character is Friar
lawrence, he has few lines, but changes the story greatly of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence is
father like to romeo, he over complicates every situation, he seems like a good hearted but he is a
selfish character. Firstly, Friar lawrence plays a father like role to Romeo, providing wisdom and
guidance on his personal issues. When Romeo admits to Friar lawrence his love for Juliet, who
tells him, Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here!/ Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear,

brought more repulsion between the families. He wasn t doing it for Romeo and Juliet s good
but to accomplish a long lasting goal of his, which was bringing peace to Verona. Furthermore,
when Count Paris insisted he would marry him and Juliet on Thursday, Juliet was upset and
Friar Lawrence wanted to stay holy. Friar proposed the idea of killing her for twenty four hours
and sending a note to Romeo, explaining so she wouldn t have to marry and they would be
together which ended up as a big catastrophe; Who bare my letter, then, to Romeo? (5.2.15). He
found himself in a problem when the letter didn t get to Romeo. He actually didn t care of what
would happen to Romeo and Juliet and only wanted to stay holy. He ended up seeming like a good
character, but did everything just to defend

Fear As The Dominant Theme In The Chrysalids By John Wyndham
Fear as the Dominant Theme.
Every single person in this world fears something, and there is magnificent amount of different
types of fear that people know of. Each type of fear has a different name. For example, fear of
change is called metathesiophobia, and fear of darkness is called Achluophobia. Fear can be not
only a phobia but in a novel it can be represented as theme. One of the examples of a novel that has
a lot of fear in it is The Chrysalids by John Wyndham which took place in the future, years after a
nuclear holocaust has devastated large areas of the world. In that novel Wyndham explores
many themes throughout the text, the main one being fear. The existence of fear in this novel is
a critical factor in the unfolding of the plot. Most of the problems that occurred in John
Wyndham s tale happen because of fear. Overall, this is shown through everyone s fear of being
different, fear helped to develop Petra s character, and by everyone thinking that if a baby was
born as a blasphemy, the women is always the one who is responsible for that, but never the
man. In places like Waknuk people are terrified of being different in anyway in the Image of
God. To begin, David, who is the son of Joseph Strorm, is praying in the church for dead Aunt
Harriet and he is overwhelmed by what will happen to him if someone figures out that he is
different. Please, please, God, let me be like other people. I don t want to be different. Won t
you make it so that when I wake up in the morning I ll be just like everyone else, please, God,
please! (Wyndham 76). This quote tells the reader that even David is scared of being different.
His fear was caused by Aunt Harriet s death because of her child s small deviation. He finally
comes to the understanding of how much trouble he can get into because of his own deviation.
Another example of people fearing the difference is shown in the beginning of this novel when
David explains that children who do not behave well are frightened by their parents with the
Fringes people. In my father s childhood mothers used to quieten and awe troublesome infants by
threatening: Be good now, or I ll fetch Old Maggie from the Fringes to you. She s got four eyes to
watch you with, and four

  • 2. No Fault Divorce On Equal Footing No fault divorce has allowed women and men (and more recently, same sex couples) the option to end their marriage simply because they no longer want to be married. However, this presents new legal questions which need to be answered. The courts must determine alimony, or spousal support. After a marriage, one spouse might need to support the other based on length of the marriage, difference in incomes or lost earning potential. However, determining a fair way to allocate alimony is an important issues to ensure both partners come out of the marriage on equal footing. Establishing new guidelines for alimony is critical to ensuring that there is equality at the end of a marriage. Marriage in our country is changing along with our culture and society. Obergefell v Hodges opened marriage to people of all sexual orientations, allowing all to marry who they wish, regardless of sex. Additionally, the amount of people who are married is declining. In 2013, just half of American adults were married, compared to 72% in 1960 (Pew). Since our society as a whole has been reconsidering marriage, we should also consider how marriages end and what factors should be considered when distributing assets, alimony and child support. Right now, trial courts are allowed discretion in determining alimony and the factors considered vary wildly across all fifty states (Rhode 2014; 76 77). This means there is no guarantee for women or men seeking support. This issue impacts women in particular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Letters From An American Farmer Primary sources like letters, drawings, engravings and other original documents play a great role in learning and understanding history. Sometimes such document can tell us about the past even more than a history textbook, because it has direct relation to the past and connected with the historical period by the author s personal feelings, thoughts and memories about the past. In 1782 a French writer Hector St. John de Crevecoeur published Letters from an American Farmer , where he put the beginning to the famous idea of the United Statesas a melting pot of different nations and cultures that harmonically mixed together and created a new American nation. The excerpt from the mentioned Crevecoeur s work dipped me in America of post revolutionary period, when newborn and independent country appeared and new nation was created, and gave an opportunity to imagine what the idea of an American man was in the reflection of a new coming immigrant from Europe. In Letters from an American Farmer Hector St. John de Crevecoeur appealed to the European readers in order to tell them about new country and give them an idea of what was the man of the New World; what were his values and principles. From the very beginning the author describes a member of a new formed nation and mentions the new government an American man follows: He is an American, who, leaving behind him all his antient prejudices and manners, receives new ones from the new mode of life he has embraced, the new ... The United States since its adoption of the Constitution in 1787 has accumulated total amount forty five presidents over two hundred and thirty years. These forty five presidents as history and the United States continues, will be the subject of analysts throughout history, who will try to rank them from the best to the worst. The book written by James Taranto and Leonard Leo, Presidential Leadership: Rating the Best and the Worst in the White House is one of these analytical books shoving the presidents into a ranking by using a survey of professors of history, law and political science to rate them. This book by Leo and Taranto focus on a handful of prime objectives for the readers to overserve while reading the book. The first is to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reason I that this book is a great read is that it is easily a readable book for any person who is looking for a general reference for presidential history. The unique perspective given by the wide verity of authors provide the reader with a great historical importance that each president had on the office is another aspect that makes this book worth reading. Finally, the most surprising aspect that made this book a decent read is that the authors did somewhat succeed on their attempt to provide a well balanced and un biased ranking of the presidents through survey of professional scholars. Although, there are a few more aspects to this historical and political work that makes it a great read there are flaws that make this book s ranking of the presidents a little questionable. The first and most likely the hardest to see is that the many authors that wrote the essays of each president did not agree with the survey results while some did. The second flaw is that not every president up to George W. Bush is represented on the ranking appendix on pages elven and twelve. The authors mention that presidents George W. Bush, the ninth president William Henry Harrison, and 20th president James Garfield is not being represented on the chart (pg. 12). George W. Bush not being the chart is understandable because this survey and information gathering did take place before his election, but the other two are being left out for the reasons of short terms (pg. 12). The hypothalmus gland acts as a body thermostat by stimulating mechanisms to counteract either high or low ambient temperatures (FAO, 1986). For example, increased conversion of feed to heat energy is used to counteract low ambient temperatures, while for example increased respiration (rate and volume) and blood circulation in the skin counteracts high ambient temperatures. Varying temperature also results in changed behavior . • 9. Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting which suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform her but it intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was uncertain whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann (graceful) leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her destiny. The heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral symbolism. However, it is the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent girls hope for visionary glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the mental state of the subject sometimes through contrast and ironyas well. We see an altar, a private devotional space so we have a sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation which in turn accentuates the theme of longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a church like atmosphere of marriage is being created in Mariana s room which is never possible. Mariana still wears a waistband which can symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly visible against the deep hue of her dress. The presence of the only animal in the painting, that is the mouse, who seems to be her ironic companion and in terms of materiality it is equated with Mariana s secluded existence. The ... The speakers aim to persuade others in believing what the speaker is saying. Socrates is compelled to make speech in court to defend himself. Socrates replaces the speech that is common in Athenian courts and exercises his own kind of cross examination, whenever law permits him to do so. He proceeds according to his method of examining by questions and answers. Also, he wishes to converse with judges for more than one day and perhaps convince them that his accusers are wrong. Socrates acquired a bad reputation because he has some special wisdom as his accusers are saying. This is based on the account of Chaerephon, Socrates friend. Chaerephon asked the Delphic oracle who is the wisest. The oracle s answer was that Socrates is the wisest. When Socrates heard the story, he was perplexed how this possibly could be the truth. Socrates went and questioned poets, craftsman, and politicians. He made enemies for himself during his quest for wisdom. Socrates realized and ...formed opinion that, although the man thought to be wise by many other people, and especially himself, yet in reality he was not. When Jason was a baby, his father s thrown was overtaken by Pelias, Jason s half uncle, when he killed all of Aeson s children except Jason. To protect Jason, he was sent to live with the centaur Chiron. In the meantime, Pelias had succeeded in taking over the thrown, he thanked all the gods except Hera and he consulted an oracle who told him to be weary of a man with one sandal for that man would be Pelias downfall. As an adult, Jason decided to return to Iolcas and take back his father s crown. While traveling to Iolcas, at the river Anauros, Hera, a goddess, presented Jason with a test. • 15. Planned Market And Mixed Market Economies Planned, Market, and Mixed Economies Each country has its own economic system, a system for allocating its resources among its citizens, both individual and organizations (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). There are three economic systems: planned economies, market economies, and mixed market economies. Economic systems are defined by how the five factors of productions are handled: labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical resources, and information resources. Factors of production are the resources that a country s businesses use to produce goods and services (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). Planned Economies A planned economy can be defined as an economy that relies on a centralized government to control all or most factors of production and to make all or most production and allocation decisions (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 12). There are two forms of planned economies: communism, in which the government owns and operates all factors of productions, and socialism, where the government owns and operates only selected factors of productions. China and North Korea are both examples of current communist countries; Denmark and Sweden are both examples of current socialist countries. • 16. Beauty Character Analysis Over the course of the novel, one can see that each character has a different attitude and mindset towards the beauty standards created in the early 1940s. Characters like Frieda and Claudia do not agree with the beauty standards set by society. Claudia is seen to represent an automatic rejection of external standards that were impossible for her to meet (Gonzalez 210). They find flaws in Maureen Peal to prove she is not perfect and they call her mean names. Also, throughout the novel, Claudia has a hatred for what people determine is beautiful. She would dismember her white baby dolls to try and find the beauty in them that other people saw. Claudia would examine each part of the doll, trying to find an ounce of beauty in it until she was left with the metal ball inside of it. In addition, Claudia hates Shirley Temple, whereas Frieda and Pecola find her cute. Claudia hates her because she danced with Bojangles whom Claudia referred to as my friend, my uncle, my daddy... (Morrison 19). She was jealous and mad that a little white girl got to dance with Bojangles, a black man. Also, Claudia preferred Jane Withers, who played opposite Shirley Temple in the film Bright Eyes. For the most part Claudia and Frieda do not strive to meet the beauty standards created by society. On the other hand, Pecola strives to achieve the ideal beauty. She wants to become the white, blonde hair, and blueeyed girl that society deems as beautiful. Obese children often must also deal with many psychological and emotional challenges such as a loss of self esteem, depression, anxiety. Not only can obesity in childhood create difficulties with social development and interfere with education, but it can also create the opportunity for the children to become victims of harassment and bullying. In addition, as pre teens hit puberty, obesity can become especially challenging. (Gale) A girl s concerns about her appearances increase as her body develops and she becomes more aware of society s views of the perfect body as portrayed in the media. Obesity also allows pre teen girls to be more susceptible to developing an eating disorder, such as anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating. Crash diets or over excercising can also become an option to pre teen girls facing obesity. Although obesity rates in children and adolescents are over half less than obesity rates in adults, many children are still at high risk. To be a determined person you have to believe in yourself and constantly encourage yourself, to keep going no matter the circumstances. I ve always been determined to get things done either in school or outside of school, I ve always been this type of person. I feel like in order to be successful in life you have to have that desire to succeed. Of course there will be challenges along the road for me but what will definitely help mealong the road will be my determination of succeeding, with all of my determination I will be able to overcome all of the challenges this world has to throw at me. I have found from working hard in this world you can make the impossible, possible. My determination and drive of succeeding has really set me apart from other people throughout the years. For example, It was my first cross country meet as a middle schooler the heat was unbearable. It was so hot outside you could probably cook an egg on the sidewalk, you could barely feel any breeze of air. Everyone was expecting me to not do so well since it was my first meet and I had never done this type of thing before. But I was so determined to medal and people kept asking me on the day of the meet, Do you think you ll medal for this? and I continued telling people, YES I m going to medal!!. When I was running that race I just thoughtto myself Be Strong and that s what was keeping me strong, my family and friends that were cheering me on was another big thing that was keeping me sane throughout the whole race. I medaled ninth in my race and that was a very big accomplishment for myself. I was very proud of myself considering I d never done this type of thing before. • 20. Personal Ethical Argument The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right and wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of these principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right and wrong was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on man s opinions and attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless. Furthermore, God shows that right and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He states His warning, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition to this principle, I also came to believe that man is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all powerful, He created man to give Himself glory, and He desires what is best for us. Like the two previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as himself, was constructed out of a faith in God and in His infallible Word. These sorts of internal conflicts are created and fought within our minds. The Seafarer, one of the oldest surviving Old English poems, depicts a man, who, despite being wise, is still desperate to find meaning to his existence. He is in exile, and because of this, his mindis in a state of desolation. He has conflicts within his own psyche seemingly questioning his very existence. He is desperate to find meaning in his life, which is full of despair and sorrow. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The desolation that the speaker goes through is so extreme, in fact, that it is as if he is numb. The speaker finally reaches his lowest point in the first part of the story, where it seems as if he drowns in his own desolation and loneliness. The open sea seems to swallow him. With these thoughts of his existence, the Seafarer suddenly starts to become conscious of his very own being, and realizes more about human nature. The speaker recalls of being pulled toward the suffering, being drawn toward his isolation that he is in. This could be a psychological aspect of the speaker in which his subconscious mind tries to punish the speaker for what he has done in the past. It could also be his mind interpreting the fact that if he goes through this suffering, he will find something greater. It is thus a paradox, then, when the seafarer says he is seeking foreigners homes (Raffel 19), because as he searches on and on, he is isolated more and more from the values that seek as a representation of these homes. The speaker introduces themes centric to the poem, which are stated as: pride, greatness, boldness, youth, seriousness, and grace (Raffel 19). The speaker then asserts that these virtuous themes will disappear one day, when one must rely on God s judgment, and God s mercy. However, as oil prices declined in the mid 1980s, alternative energy sources declined, thus, funding for geothermal energy research greatly reduced. Consequently, this monetary difficulty stifled any advancement on geothermal technology. Now that energy concerns have resurfaced, an opportunity exists for the U.S. to pursue the EGS [Enhanced Geothermal Systems] option aggressively to meet long term national needs, as observed by MIT Professor Jefferson Tester (MIT, January 22, 2007, para. 19). Pure water, quality malts and hops are essential in the brewing process. A source of pure water is necessary to brew good beer. As such, the water used in brewing is purified to rigidly set standards. If it does not have the proper calcium or acidic content for maximum activity of the enzymes in the mash, it must be brought up to that standard. Barley, which is the main raw material in beer, must first be left to begin to germinate. This process is called malting. This prerequisite stage of production of beer forms an industry in itself, called the malting industry. During the malting process, the grain is allowed to germinate with heated water in a vat for a process known as mashing . Then it is spread out in layers for a week to germinate and finally germination is halted by drying in a kiln or by a kilning process. This beginning of germination is called the malting. So I ask, did they exist? If so, is it possible that Adam wasn t the first ever human? If not, how are we sinners because of his original sin? So to answer my first question, I will start off by providing Dr. Lamoureux position on the matter. Dr. Lamoureux very humbly asserts Adam never existed, and this fact has no impact whatsoever on the foundational beliefs of Christianity (p. 38). Though he stated that he had no intention of converted one to side with his view, and that he was merely concerned with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Simon Farrah Abraham Character Analysis Simon Saran is a forced to be reckoned with. His on again off again relationship with Farrah Abraham has been documented through Teen Mom OG. The two are apparently off at the moment, though that doesn t mean there isn t a reconciliation possible. Because Saran has been a huge part of the MTV franchise, the show offered him his own special. This is a big deal because the ones who have been offered the same have all been married to or have had children with the star they were attached to while filming. Being Simon is set to air this coming Wednesday on MTV. It will be an hour long special featuring Simon Saran in his everyday life. He confirmed this was coming back in June, but Farrah Abraham shaded him when he mentioned it. The two have been hot and cold for several months now. According to Starcasm, Simon Saran and Courtland Rogers got into an insult match where one went a little too far. Everyone knows that Twitter is the place where anything goes. Racial comments, insults, and everything else can be seen on the platform with no enforcing of etiquette. Saran was going off about Donald Trump being blamed for the Las Vegas massacre, and Rogers decided to have his say with him. It appears that since Jenelle Evans no longer wants anything to do with Courtland, he is really trying to stay relevant. Both men reverted to heavy insults, with Courtland Rogers insinuating that Simon Saran was a terrorist with a tweet about hijacking a plane. Of course, Simon wasn t innocent in the debate, but Courtland really went the whole nine yards with his comments. There is a streak of jealousy there. Being Simon is airing this upcoming week and since Rogers no longer has any connection to the show, there may be a little bitterness. The two exchanged a few more tweets and that was ... Outside of these obvious details derived from the title, this art piece is laden with different characteristics of representation and symbolism that narrate the artist s story behind the artwork. A close examination of this piece concluded that this artwork is a form of propaganda; which serves the purpose of showing the power, prestige and authority of a figure. The artist purposefully made the middle figure the most captivating and attention drawing figure for this reason. Piggy is classified as the intelligent character, thinking everything through carefully and efficiently. Where Jack is smart in a manipulative way, and gained power by persuading and tricking the boys on the island to be their leader. Piggy s intelligence can be seen through his rational ideas. For example, Piggy recommends to use the conch to control the boys: We can use this to call the others. Have a meeting. They ll come when they hear us. The meeting that Piggy calls shows his desire to create a civil environment on the island. Piggy has smart ideas that influenced everyone in a positive way. He is limited by both physical and mental confinements. At his first description, Piggy explains how he can t run, on account of (his) asthma. (5) From this characteristic of Piggy, it limits his leadership. Most good leaders have no restrictions, even from physical health; they are strong both physically and mentally. Piggy is also not mentally cut out to be leader. When Jack is introduced, Piggy is described as being intimidated by this uniformed superiority and the offhand authority in Merridew s voice. (13) Piggy is daunted by the strong authority shown in others, which is not a quality a good leader possesses. Unlike Piggy, Jack gained power at one point on the island, but like Piggy, he always lacked strong leadership. Jack is an impulsive character, which is ultimately bad for everyone on the island. Given his crave for hunting, it is easy to understand that Jack puts his main focus into killing, rather than surviving. Jack drew his knife again with a flourish, (23) Jack has a compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up. That man was Wilhelm Richard Wagner he was known for his operas and other compositions which influenced many other composers. Wagner wrote many amazing operas, compositions, and poetic lyrics. Some think he wasn t so important, but some even think he was one of the best holding him up to Beethoven for his compositions (Furness 7). Wagner s best composition from his career is a composition called Der Rings Des Nibelungen, which is a composition that is eighteen hours long and four operas which had reoccurring themes connecting them all together. Firstly, Richard Wagner was born on May 22 ,1813 in Leipzig, Germany. Wagner had eight siblings, five sisters and three brothers. He never had much talent in music when he was attending a school in Dresden, Germany. He played the piano a horrible way and his teacher told him he wouldn t be much because he couldn t manage to play properly (Newman 46). He had trouble understanding the terms of the music as a child he knew what they use where he just didn t know how they were announced. He also struggled in his life when it came to see who his father was even some would say Richard s facial features resembled his father Carl Friedrich Wagner who passed away just months after he was born, but an actor named Ludwig Geyer who married Wagner s mother was on the list of whether he was the father or not. • 43. A Research Study On The Axon Essay 1.A neuron is a cell that receives messages from receptors and then sends them to other neurons. The structure consists of multiple parts. Starting with the dendrites, short projections out of the cell body that are very tree like because of the branch like appearance. They receive the electrical impulses from the receptors and the impulses flow into the cell body or soma. The soma is the part of the cell that is the main part of the neuronthat holds the nucleus and cytoplasm. It makes it so the whole cell is working and being alive, in other words the body. Then the electrical impulse is sent down through axon. The axon is a thin extension out of the soma. It acts like a cable or cord. The axon has a protective coating called the myelin sheath. It s made up of a mix of fat and proteins. Then once the impulse has traveled through the axon it exits that individual neuron through the short knobs on the ends of the extended fibers from the axon called the axon terminals. The axon terminals the talkers of the neuron. Its job is to communicate with other cells. The way it communicates is through this little junction called the synapse. The electrical impulse then repeats the process going from neuron to neuron until it either reaches the brainor the spinal cord. 2.Neurons communicate through electrical impulses and chemicals. This all happens within the small space in between the axon terminal and the next neurons dendrites. This space is filled with fluids which have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Agamemnan, The Inferno, Don Quixote Essay Agamemnon, The Inferno, and Don Quixote may seem to be vastly different stories written across centuries of time and within incongruous cultures but the three tales share related themes. * Set among the ruling family of Argos, Aeschylus s Agamemnon examines the topic of justice: ancient eye for an eye progressing toward modern disinterested justice, attributing all to the gods. Similarly, in Dante Alighieri s Inferno each sinner is placed in a punishment to fit his crime: divine perfection of justice. * Miguel de Cervantesapproaches the other side of justice, Don Quixote questions what happens when an antiquated or fictional moral code is put into play in a different time or place. * What is Justice? According to them, Justice is not meted out by man s will alone, but as a cog in the machine of the gods; a means to a divine end. * In the following plays, the wheel comes full circle as Agamemnon s son comes home to avenge his death, by killing his mother Clytemnestra. Under the system in which they have labored to this point, her death should beget the death of her son and so one SP. However, having been killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged. There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer, better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the imperfection of the old system. Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer ... • 46. Fear As The Dominant Theme In The Chrysalids By John Wyndham Fear as the Dominant Theme. Every single person in this world fears something, and there is magnificent amount of different types of fear that people know of. Each type of fear has a different name. For example, fear of change is called metathesiophobia, and fear of darkness is called Achluophobia. Fear can be not only a phobia but in a novel it can be represented as theme. One of the examples of a novel that has a lot of fear in it is The Chrysalids by John Wyndham which took place in the future, years after a nuclear holocaust has devastated large areas of the world. In that novel Wyndham explores many themes throughout the text, the main one being fear. The existence of fear in this novel is a critical factor in the unfolding of the plot. Most of the problems that occurred in John Wyndham s tale happen because of fear. Overall, this is shown through everyone s fear of being different, fear helped to develop Petra s character, and by everyone thinking that if a baby was born as a blasphemy, the women is always the one who is responsible for that, but never the man. In places like Waknuk people are terrified of being different in anyway in the Image of God. To begin, David, who is the son of Joseph Strorm, is praying in the church for dead Aunt Harriet and he is overwhelmed by what will happen to him if someone figures out that he is different. Please, please, God, let me be like other people. I don t want to be different. Won t you make it so that when I wake up in the morning I ll be just like everyone else, please, God, please! (Wyndham 76). This quote tells the reader that even David is scared of being different. His fear was caused by Aunt Harriet s death because of her child s small deviation. He finally comes to the understanding of how much trouble he can get into because of his own deviation. Another example of people fearing the difference is shown in the beginning of this novel when David explains that children who do not behave well are frightened by their parents with the Fringes people. In my father s childhood mothers used to quieten and awe troublesome infants by threatening: Be good now, or I ll fetch Old Maggie from the Fringes to you.
