Essay Life Is A Journey
Embarking on the task of crafting an essay on the theme "Life Is A Journey" is both a daunting
and rewarding endeavor. The intricacies involved in articulating one's thoughts about life's
trajectory, experiences, and the profound lessons learned along the way require a delicate
balance of introspection and expression. As the writer delves into the exploration of this
philosophical concept, they must navigate the vast landscape of human existence, attempting to
encapsulate the myriad emotions, challenges, and triumphs that make up the tapestry of life.
The difficulty lies not only in the complexity of the subject matter but also in the personal nature
of the reflections. Every individual's journey is unique, shaped by diverse circumstances,
choices, and perspectives. The challenge, therefore, is to strike a universal chord that resonates
with readers from various walks of life while maintaining the authenticity of one's own
experiences.
Moreover, the task demands a skillful blend of creativity and coherence. Crafting a narrative that
flows seamlessly, engages the reader, and imparts a sense of purpose to the journey described
requires a meticulous choice of words and a keen understanding of the essay's structure. Each
paragraph must contribute to the overarching theme, guiding the reader through the writer's
contemplations without losing sight of the central message.
In essence, writing an essay on the topic "Life Is A Journey" necessitates the ability to weave
together the threads of personal experience, philosophical musings, and literary craftsmanship. It
involves grappling with the intangible aspects of existence, attempting to articulate the ineffable
aspects of the human journey.

Celebrity Cruises Essay
The problem for Celebrity Cruises was clear in they needed to define a clear
positioning for its customers and figure out a way to keep the demand strong
maintain market share and focus on specific customers in their target market. This
meant Celebrity cruises had problems with their strategies and less importantly their
operations. Celebrity needed to figure out a way to retain customs with different
expectations within their target market whether or not they were initial cruisers,
seasonal cruisers or frequent cruisers.
Situation analysis
In analyzing Celebrity s internal macro economic environment and the external micro
economic environment structure we will break down a fairly complex entity such as

This was also apart of their service strategy to make sure that total guest satisfaction
was attained for each cruiser using control systems to maintain employee
empowerment.
Competitor Analysis Carnival Cruise s, Disney Cruises and Norwegian was the
only other clear competitors to RCL but in terms of subsidiaries Crystal Cruises
was the only direct rival in terms of size and scale and position in the industry but in
analyzing the demand increase from 1999 to 2001 a 16.7% increase in demand
showed that Celebrity cruises had to maintain their position as a luxury brand to
continue being a major player in the industry. The demand was strong and the
competition was average, as it relates to entries to market the cruise line industry
requires multiple stipulations and regulations required thus unless one of the major
players mentioned above acquired a smaller cruise line to increase in operations and
services Celebrity s position was relatively strategic and smart. The competitive
landscape was relatively small so quality improvement process should be the main
focus during this time, they already created the process needed to offer superior
service thus tweaks such as management training, career progression programs and
increases in standard of performance programs would set Celebrity s consistent
quality assurance position in the industry to better

Psychological Causes Of Addiction Essay
People take different physiology effecting substances for varieties of reasons.
Many take forms of sedatives to help decrease anxiety and to forget stress inducing
emotions that may be brought about in one s work or social life. Others may take
stimulants to improve their own mental or physical conditions in order to help
better perform in their daily lifes. Whether it be drinking a beer after a long day of
work or swallowing an amphetamine pill before taking a chemistry exam, it s no
doubt most people see a substance s mind altering effects as a solution to a problem.
Of course substances can be very helpful in solving problems but when someone

There are many factors that increase the likelihood of someone becoming addicted.
One s genealogy, and environment play very powerful roles in the likelihood of
addiction, but the nature and condition of someone s psychological state is the most
impactful factor. Someone s psychological state ultimately dictates their behavior and
effects their actions. Unfortunately many people who are born with a psychological
disorder commonly have predisposed behavioral traits that were created and instilled
in them by the psychological effect the disorder has on their personality.
The common behaviors displayed by those with a particular psychological disorder
are more probable of substance abuse depending on the type of behavior created by
the disorder. The prime example of this is the correlation between ADHD and
addiction. Those who have ADHD are more likely to abuse substances. 25% of
adults suffering from substance abuse also have ADHD and one third of teenagers
with ADHD will develop some type of substance abuse. The big question is why do
people with ADHD have a higher probability of developing a substance abuse. Those
who have ADHD lack the ability to control their own concentration and self control.
Low academic performances are common among those with

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region
Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled
largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct
societies. Why did this difference in development occur?
By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of
being from the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences
separated these two regions distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in
New England, Money and tobacco farming dominated the Chesapeake.

Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion,
and only church members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required
to attend Church services as part of the law. Most of the people in New England had
been merchants or small farmers in England. In New England however, the rocky
soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up
major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing, and established trade routes with
England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very pious and
hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours.
The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a
very hard time adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and
civility that they were used to in England. Most of the early settlers were
gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and London Companies. They
were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and suffered
greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were
men, which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very
little reproduction. Document C, a ships list of emigrants bound for Virginia shows
the lack of families travelling to Virginia, as well as the very few women, most of
them single. The men fought over these
Colossal Squid Brain
One of its many species, the colossal squid, has a donut shaped brain which has an
esophagus running through its centre. These squids must use caution when
swallowing food, because if its food isn t broken down enough, it can rub against the
brain, causing damage to it. Human brains do not physically interact with the
digestive system. Both squids and humans have a large compartmentalized brain with
an associational centre (or in humans, cortex). Cartilage surrounds and protects squid

Internet Censorship
Internet Censorship: Just Say No
In December of 1994, a young college student named Jake Baker posted one of his
fiction pieces in an alt.sex newsgroup. Usually, his contributions to this widely read
site consisted of short stories about rape, torture, and murder of women. In this
particular newsgroup post, he continued with his usual contributions; however, he
took it a bit further by writing about one of his fellow classmates, using her name
and identity in the piece. Faculty members at the University of Michigan discovered
his story and later expelled him from school. Federal agents then raided his house,
arrested him, and discovered copies of e mail Baker had exchanged with a Canadian,
mapping out his and the Canadian s plan to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Obviously, Jane Doe couldn t ignore something like that so easily, and it was only
natural that she pressed charges. But according to the First Amendment and federal
law, Baker s threats were unsuccessful; therefore, no action could ve (or should ve)
been taken against him.
In thinking about cases such as Jake Baker s, it truly would be too difficult to
enforce United States standards and regulations on a global medium such as the
Internet. There are probably millions of sites out there on the Web that contain such
sexual content as did Baker s story. As one University of Michigan student mentions,
The Internet allows individuals access to a larger audience. This effectively gave
Baker a larger audience for his stories, which otherwise would have never seen
them....I definitely question the wisdom of allowing just anyone access to such
publishing power...but I m not sure that I even consider Usenet news as real media
(http://krusty.eecs.umich.edu/). The same student goes on to say that Baker s stories
were reserved only for a section entitled alt.sex.stories a place filled with sexually
explicit stories therefore, Baker had the right to publish his offensive sex stories,
since it was contained within this separate Internet section. Usenet news may not be
real media, but I still think that the Internet would be too difficult to censor entirely,
A Very Brief History Of Tequila s Culture
History of Tequila
During a period of time in Tequila s history, it was only a drink for bandidos and
rancheros. As North America s first distilled drink, and its first commercially
produced alcohol, the history of tequila is long and rich. Mezcal wine, tequila s
grandparent, was first produced only a few decades after the Conquest that brought
the Spaniards to the New World in 1521. It was variously called mezcal brandy,
agave wine, mezcal tequila and finally simply tequila appropriately named after
Tequila, a small town in a valley in Jalisco state, Mexico. Agave, the plant from which
tequila is distilled, played a much larger role than just being the source of an alcoholic
drink. Distillation of pulque, tequila s distant ancestor, into something
Tupac
There are many conspiracy theories concerning the life and death of Tupac
Shakur. Tupac Amaru Shakur was an American rapper and actor. Tupac was born
New York, New York, United States on 16 June 1971. His birth name was Lesane
Parish Crooks. Tupac was killed on September 13, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There have been many different stories about his death. People say he is still alive
and then people said he is dead. There have also been people saying his death was
caused because of his music and the Illuminati killed him. Various conspiracy
theorists throughout the public believe that the Illuminati killed Tupac because he
was exposing them and also not promoting the ideals that they desired. The ways

ideology has been called Illuminism . Many influential intellectuals and progressive
politicians counted themselves as members, including Ferdinand of Brunswick
and the diplomat Xavier von Zwack, the second in command of the order. The
order had branches in most European countries: it reportedly had around 2,000
members over the span of ten years. It attracted literary men such as Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Gottfried Herder and the reigning dukes of
Gotha and Weimar. In 1777 Karl Theodor became ruler of Bavaria. He was a
proponent of Enlightened Despotism and his government banned all secret
societies including the Illuminati. Internal rupture and panic over succession
preceded its downfall, which was affected by the Secular Edict made by the
Bavarian government.] The March 2, 1785 edict seems to have been deathblow to
the Illuminati in Bavaria. Weishaupt had fled and documents and internal
correspondences, seized in 1786 and 1787, were subsequently published by the
government in 1787. Von Zwack s home was searched to disclose much of the
group s literature. There are also theories about Tupac faking his death, and he is

Factors That Motivated European Imperialism In Africa
What aspects do you think motivated Europe imperialism in Africa? Between 1500
1800, Europe traded along the west coast of Africa, but they were not able to reach
the interior due to all the diseases they could catch. In the 1800s, European explorers
had a cure for diseases and were prepared to push their way into the interior of the
continent. By the 1880s, European nations competed with one another for control
over Africa. With this being said, what do you think motivated Europeto imperialize
in Africa? Many things contributed to the driving force behind European
imperialism, such as politics, economics, and cultural attitudes. Politics played a
major part in motivating Europe to imperialize in Africa. Document A shows how
Africa was divided and which two states remained independent. Fourteen European
nations met at the Berlin Conference to decide how Africa would be divided. In
Document B, nationalism in Europe increased as the Industrial Revolutionand French
Revolution ideas spread throughout Europe. Colonists thought to advance the
power of England, they needed to claim more territory as fast as possible. That
their first aim is to be to advance the power of England by land and by sea. ~ Doc
B. The Germans had strengths, such as trade and sea power, but wanted to learn
about colonial skills from the British and start a friendly competition after them. It
would be wise if we Germans would learn about colonial skills from the British and
begin to strive after
Federal Reserve System Analysis
The Federal Reserve System regulates the economy of the United States through
monetary policy. For instance, the Fed keeps the federal fund rate low to provide
lower mortgages, increases investments, and boosts the economy. Alternatively, the
Fed manages the economy when the opposite effects take place. When the federal
fund rate is high the mortgages increase, reduces investments, and will slow the
economy, which means the Fed has to manipulate the interest rates and try to shape
economic potentials for the future. There are 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks in
the Federal Reserve Systemwhich rely on an intrinsic technological infrastructure to
keep the member banks connected and all data comprised from all regions backed up

The American people take precautions they see in their best interest when news of
catastrophe and possible economic unbalance is being reported. While the Board of
Governors and the Fed Chair work in the headquarters building, there is no actual
fiscal work being done in this building. Therefore, there will be no physical loss of
stockpiles of money or securities. The biggest possible loss of assets would be if the
total catastrophe of the building took place with the Board of Governors in the
building resulting in the deaths of the seven board members and countless number
of employees in the building. Without the appointed board members, the Federal
Reserve System may not have a backup plan consisting of alternate board members
to fill the role of the recently departed. Without a Board of Governors to oversee
the policies and practices of the banks, then more economic ruin could be on the
horizon. Who will be responsible for maintaining the economic flow that keeps
interest rates down and dollars circulating? This uncertainty will keep Americans
from spending more than what is needed for essentials, ultimately slowing the
economy, and an absent Board of Governors and Chairman to execute the plan to
boost the economy. For instance, the Chairman of the Board of Governors not only
manage the member banks and presides over the Board of Governors, but also has
to testify before Congress twice a year. In the event that there was no contingency
plan for an alternate Board of Governors, the member bank presidents will have to
oversee themselves until the President appoints new members and Congress
Romero Virtues
In the movie Romero, Romero, the main character whom is also the archbishop,
portrays many examples of the three virtues, prudence, justice, and fortitude.
However, there are times shown in the film in which Romero does indeed lack
these virtues. El Salvador is put in a very tough place in which many people are
being killed by the guerillas for standing up for what they believe in. It is believed
to be Romero s duty to help put an end to this and it is his goal to make his people,
and the people of the church, feel comfortable sharing their beliefs. One very
important virtue includes prudence, the virtue that disposes us to see rightly, the way
things are in the world around us, and to employ that truthful vision to act rightly. It

It is obvious that Romero sees the issues found in the government, just as the rest
of the people, but he chooses to not act upon it. Whether he thinks this is best or
not he states multiple times, I am not bringing politics in this, it is simple my job
to run the church (Romero 20:00). When Father Grande gets murdered, Romero
decides to shut down all masses except 1 to raise awareness for the people
murdered. When he is accused of trying to make a political statement he denies it
by stating, I want to gather people to mourn the deaths and to express their outrage
(Romero 34:30). Romero doesn t start showing signs of prudence until later in the
film. He enters the church to a room full of soldiers and asks to take care of the
Eucharist that was still placed there. The soldiers refuse and end up shooting at the
altar, which can be interpreted as shooting at Jesus. This is the scene that really
opens Romero s eyes. After this he begins to act prudently by taking action. He
sends a letter to the US asking that they discontinue the sending of weapons
because, as quoted by Romero, They are only being used to kill our own people
(Romero 1:10:00). Romero shows a great amount of prudence in the end when he
asks God for help. He is asking God to show him the best course of action in order to
keep his people
Summary Of The Gleaner
In The Gleaner, Judith Sargent Murray rewrites the seduction plot by having the
seduced female marry her seducer instead of dying as a fallen woman, which was
important because it demonstrated a redefining of female roles from complete
dependence on man to one where a woman could be dependant on her rational
capacities. This is shown in the lines, But grant, the prayer of my petition, and, the
abilities, application, and economic arrangements of Mrs. Courtland. The line, But
grant, the prayer of my petition, shows how Mrs. Wellwood is using her rational
capacities to escape the situation which her emotions had placed her. By begging
Courthouse s supposed fiance too, grant the prayer of her petition, Wellwood
demonstrates her cleverness

Pygmies Research Paper
The two main races inhabiting Africa in early times were the Berbers of the
Mediterranean coastlands and the Negroes of equatorial Africa. The Berbers (and the
ancient Egyptians) were of Hamitic stock racially Caucasian, with European facial
characteristics. The Negroes included the small statured Pygmies. The pygmies, and a
third race the rather yellow skinned Bushmen may have been widely spread over
central and southern Africa until they were driven from the most fruitful lands by the
Negroes. The descendants of the Pygmies now inhabit the forests of central
Africa. Only small numbers of Bushmen now survive, mainly in the Kalahari desert
in the south.

The paintings also show that music and dancing were important to these ancient
Africans as they are to the modern Negroes.
Between about 4000 and 2000 B.C, as the desert spread, the peoples of the Sahara
gradually emigrated to the north, east and south though some remained, learning to
live with little water: their descendants are the Berber Tuareg of the desert today
(whose men wear veils).
Those who went South settled in the western and central Sudan. (The term Sudan
relates to the wide strip of grassland stretching across Africa, south of the Sahara and
Egypt. The western Sudan is separated from the coast to the south by a belt of dense
forest.) In the Sudan the newcomers mixed with other Negro tribes to form the Bantu
speaking peoples, who gradually spread into central, eastern and southern
Africa.
In the eastern Sudan, south of Egypt, another civilisation arose, starting about 1000
B.C. that of the Kushites, probably a mixture of Hamitic and Negro stock. Further
east is Ethiopia. The Ethiopians were probably of Hamitic origin, mixed later with
Arabs from Arabia.
Historical times, that is when history is known with reasonable accuracy and some
detail, started on widely different dates in the different regions of Africa,
How Tube 3 Changed Colors Into An Orange-Brown
There was an important observation made during this heated experiment with Tubes
3 and 4. After the mixture, Tube 3 changed colors into an orange brown, and Tube 4
slightly changed colors into a light brown. Figures 5 and 6 demonstrate the results of
the effects a 2 degrees Celsius cool bath had on substrate concentrations. There were
also noted color changes to these concentrations in Tube 3, which turned a bright
orange, and Tube 4, which also turned orange. Figure 5. Effect of Cold Temperature(2

In Experiment One, the data signifies that the velocity of the enzyme increased as the
concentration of the substrate increased. However, the data from the second
experiment draws inconclusive. The qualitative observations of the color change
were a clear sign to start the experiment over again due to possible contamination,
and that was not done. This could possibly be a reason why the data shown in the
effects of temperature is so skewed. While temperature should rapidly increase the
rate of enzyme activity until a certain point at which the enzyme denatures, the data
shows denaturation of all enzymes besides Tubes 3 and 4, the color changing
solutions in both parts of Experiment Two. The temperature of the baths was 2
degrees Celsius for the cold bath, and 50 degrees Celsius for the warm bath. Both of
these temperatures are at the denaturation point of the enzyme, so it would make
sense for this temperature to have such effect (Rakhmetov, A.D., Lee, S.P.,
Ostapchenko, L.I., et. al, 2015). However, for Tubes 3 and 4, there must have been
some human error or contamination of the stock solution to skew the data for these
Coffee Filter Essay
Take a clean paper towel or coffee filter. Moisten it. Place 10 or 20 seeds onto it (10
is better). Fold the seeds. If you use exactly ten seeds, you will find it much better
to calculate the percentage of germination after that. Here is why. If 5 out of 10
seeds germinate, then 50% of your seeds will grow during the season. That s pretty
risky. So you need more than 70% or else planting will not be worth the effort.
Ideally, 8 or 9 out of 10 seeds will sprout. However, if you get less than 70%, you
had better not put work into it at all. Buy new seeds for the upcoming planting
season. Now, let s get back to the topic. We reached a point where you fold the
seeds. Then place them in a sandwich/zipper bag and zip most of the way. Ideally,
you will leave some room for the seeds to be able to breath. If you want to test out
several different seeds, write down the name of the plant on each bag to avoid
errors when identifying the seeds. Store the bag with seeds at room temperature
(about 70 degrees Fahrenheit/21 degrees Celsius). Perhaps it is best to place it by a
sunny window. Wait seven to ten days. During this time, make sure to keep the paper

Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc.
Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between
Marvel Studios and DC. Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top
in Superhero creation. However, there s always the question of which one is
better. There are two teams, Marvel s Avengers and DC s Justice League. Each
team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would
come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who
would win based on the heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle
between the two groups would happen we split the two teams into six different
pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a similar skill set or
power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each
character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero
against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based
solely on the skills of each character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams
were to fight against each other together.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Race in A Different Mirror’ by Ronald Takaki
In the first Chapter of the book A Different Mirror by (Takaki, 1993) the author
embarks on a descriptive narrative that tries to elaborate the concept of a multiracial
America. The chapter begins with the author taking a taxi ride in which he is
subjected to racial discrimination. The taxi driver questions the author s origin owing
to the fact that his English is perfect and eloquent. This incident prompts a discussion
that transpires throughout the chapter as the author tries to explain to his audience
that America is a multiracial country with different ethnic groups that moved from
their homelands to settle in the United States. The chapter discusses the settlement of
various racial groups such as; English immigrants, African... Show more content on

The first theme proclaims the royal monarchy by presenting the individual authority
held by both the King and the queen. King Ferdinand of Aragon is established as the
ruling authority of the Spanish kingdom. His daughter Queen Juana is presented as
the ruler of the two regions of Castile and Leon. God is recognized as the supreme
creator of both the heavens and the earth. The origin of man is explained through the
creation of Adam and Eve, whom are the original ancestors that all men and women
descended from. The author then tries to explain the events that led to the formation
of kingdoms, which is attributed to the fact that a single kingdom could not be
sustained. This resulted in the division of mankind into various kingdoms.
The second theme elaborates the transition of power from God to the monarchs.
This transition occurs through an intermediate institution that transfers divine
power through religious mechanisms onto a political leadership. Divine power
form God is transferred onto the Papacy that is given supreme authority and
dominion over all men. St Peter is the first pope whose kingdom is centered in
Rome form where he rules over all men: Gentiles, Jews, Christians and any other
religious groups. The Papal lineage is established as the supreme power structure
and all Popes that descend from St Peter are treated with the same respect and
proclaimed as lord and king. One such pope is responsible for donating the lands of
the Americas onto the King and
The Pros And Cons Of Evaporation
Evaporation is the process that changes liquids into gases. When a liquid is heated,
it becomes a gas and spreads into the atmosphere, or the surrounding air. Liquids
becomes gases by adding thermal energy to them. Thermal energy is the amount of
energy any matter has because of the moving particles, molecules and atoms, inside
it. The lakes, rivers, and oceans evaporate when the sun comes out and heats them
up. The molecules from the bodies of water rise from Earth s surface into the
surrounding atmosphere. Even small puddles of water can evaporate when the sun
comes out and warms them. Let s explore heat and evaporation.
When you see a pot of water boiling on the stove, you see steam coming out of the
pot and going into the surrounding air. The steam is called water vapor, and it s
created by the heating of the water. The heat applied to the water gives the molecules
in the water more energy, which makes the molecules move around faster, and escape
into the atmosphere.
When molecules of water evaporate, heat from the object they evaporated from
goes with them into the air. The heat is called latent heat, and it s inside the water
molecules. This also lowers the temperature of the object the heat came from.
Evaporative cooling is when an object cools down because of evaporation. When
you exercise and it s hot outside, your body sweats. When your body sweats,
evaporation causes the water on your body, or the sweat, to eventually evaporate, or
rise into the air. This action

How Did Crazy Horse Die More Than A Man s Life
I believe that when Crazy Horse was killed something more than a man s life was
snuffed out. Once, America s size in the imagination was limitless. After
Europeans settled and changed it, working from the coasts inland, its size in the
imagination shrank. Like the center of a dying fire, the Great Plains held that
original vision longest. Just as people finally came to the Great Plains and changed
them, so they came to where Crazy Horse lived and killed him. Crazy Horse had
the misfortune to live in a place that existed both in reality and in the dreams of
people far away; he managed to leave both the real and the imaginary place
unbetrayed. What I return to most often when I think of Crazy Horse is the fact that

China s Sudden Rise to Power Essay
In the current anarchic world, The United States acts as the global hegemon.
However, China s recent rise to power has lead international relations experts,
Ikenberry, Mearsheimer, Subramanian, and Friedberg, to predict an upcoming power
shift in the international system. China s increasing control over the Asia Pacific
region has threatened U.S. power. According to Waltz, the realism paradigm
interprets the anarchic structure of the international community, as a constant power
struggle. Although each country may be different, to survive, they must all strive for
power. Under the liberalism paradigm, the system is still anarchical but cooperation
may be achieved by shared norms, and aligned political and economical interests....

Snyder claims that realism failed to predict the Cold War. Given this, Mearsheimer
states China cannot rise peacefully. Since realists describe the world as a self help
system, according to Posen, every country must look to its own interests relative to
those of others and because security is the preeminent issue in an anarchic world, the
distribution of capabilities to attack and defend should matter. Thus, because China s
strive for regional hegemony inevitably threatens the power dynamic of the global
system, the U.S. will, according to Mearsheimer, take an offensive realist approach
that will eventually lead to war. In addition, as seen in post Cold War, economic
stability greatly determines the distribution of power. Friedberg notes, that the
projected speed and magnitude of China s growth in recent decades appears to be
unprecedented and as early as 2015, China s economy could overtake that of the
United States. Although the U.S. faces an unprecedented challenge to economic
power, according to Ikenberry, China has signaled cooperation by redoubling its
participation in existing institutions, such as the ASEAN Regional Forum and the
East Asia Summit or working with the other great powers in the region to build new
ones. Nevertheless, following the actions of the U.S. post WWII, China strategically
makes itself more predictable and approachable to reduce the incentives for other

Sacrifice- in today’s culture, the word is rarely...
Sacrifice in today s culture, the word is rarely associated with something positive.
You might think of a human sacrifice or giving up something you really want to
keep. However, in ancient greek culture, ritual sacrifice (although the act wasn t
particularly good) had a positive connotation because of the benefits for the individual
and the community the sacrificewas happening for. The importance of ritual sacrifice
to ancient Greeceis displayed by the passage from the Odyssey in which ... the
people of Pylos were gathered on the sea shore to offer sacrifice of black bulls to
Neptune lord of the Earthquake. There were nine guilds with five hundred men in
each, and there were nine bulls to each guild... they were eating the inward meats...

The large scale gathering allowed for new social ties to form, and loyalties to
strengthen. Ritual sacrifice was used for many different purposes to appease, to
gain luck, and to put the gods in one s favor are a few of the functions that the
Greeks believed sacrifice could preform. Because of the varied believed uses,
every Greek used sacrifice or participated in the ceremony at some point in their
lives, illustrating a united community. The social impact of sacrifice is illustrated
clearly in mythology. Because sacrifice could show how gods were feeling,
influenced the plot, and helped characterize the heroes, sacrifice was key to
mythology. ...so [I, Odysseus] sacrificed [the ram] on the sea shore, and burned its
thigh bones to [Zeus], who is the lord of all. But he heeded not my sacrifice, and
only thought how he might destroy my ships and my comrades. This example
provides characterization for both Odysseus and Zeus, showing the god as
righteous and angry, and Odysseus as clever (using sacrifice as an apology, even if
he s not remorseful). In other myths, such as the Iliad, a ritual sacrifice takes place
before every meal, showing the men to be respectful and devoted to their culture,
even in times of chaos. In mythology, sacrifice is rarely, if ever, portrayed in a way
that shows violence, because the act is sacred and treated as such by the heroes. In
book 11, the sacrifice of two sheep (and the promise of more) allow for the prophecy

Trigger Finger Research Paper
Introduction
Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) is a condition that causes a finger to get stuck
in a bent position. Each finger has a tough, cord like tissue that connects muscle to
bone (tendon) and is surrounded by a tunnel of tissue (tendon sheath). To move your
finger, your tendon needs to slide freely through the sheath. Trigger finger happens
when the tendon or sheath thicken, making it difficult to move your finger.
Trigger finger can affect any finger or thumb. It may affect more than one finger.
Mild cases may clear up with rest and medicine. Severe cases require more treatment.
What are the causes?
Trigger finger is caused by a thickened finger tendon or tendon sheath. The cause of
this thickening is not known.
What increases the risk?

Common Mental Disorders
As WHO (2001) estimated, about 450 million people around the world suffer from
mental disorders, and mental disorders is therefore one of the leading causes of
disability worldwide. Studies have been contributing to the growing number of
mental disorders for long. Although medical scientists attribute the causes to the
physiological factors, social scientists often time argue that the socioeconomic
development of a country, social classes, gender, and other social factors have
impacts on mental disorders. A broad term for the mental health, the common mental
disorders (CMDs), which refers to the general term for non psychotic, depressive, and
anxiety disorders, is a common used diagnostic category to describe the slight or early
mental problems (Fu et al. 2012). The common mental disorders provides an
opportunity for researcher to take advantages of both the physiologists and the social
scientists views. In general, although research regard the common mental disorders as
a single factor most of the times, it is possible that there are two dimensions, the
somatic and the affective dimensions, that constitute the common mental disorders.
Among these two dimensions, somatic problems are more often resulted from the
original physical health conditions such as chronic diseases or... Show more content

III. Results During the Holocaust, doctors had free reign to do whatever they
wanted to any prisoner at any of the concentration camps. The majority of the
prisoners were to be sent to the gas chambers and killed, so the doctors justified
their torturous experiments by saying the patients were fated to die anyways. Thus,
instead of doing their job, instead of bringing assistance and comfort to the sick
people who needed them most, instead of helping the mutilated and the
handicapped to live, eat, and hope one more day, one more hour, doctors became
their executioners (Spitz 191). When men and women become doctors they take a
vow. In this vow they state to keep the sick from harm and injustice and to never
give any patient a deadly drug. The doctors of the Holocaust simply must have come
to the conclusion that this vow, that they were required to make, no longer applied to
them and the prisoners they were treating . As I conducted my own research on these
doctors, I found that there was one doctor in particular who stood out among the
others. A doctor much crueler than the rest, Josef Mengele. He was known as
Auschwitz s own Angel of death . Wherever he sprang up, Death spread its shadow

took advantage of this. He did not gradually become unethical; his disturbing actions

How Can Sales Organizations Use Different Mechanisms
To...
Choosing the best KPIs for your CRM application depends on the goals the
organization sets for the application. The best KPIs to increase traffic and sales for
an organization focus on leads.
1. Lead acquisition
Lead tracking begins with a goal. Sales organizations use different mechanisms to
acquire leads. Examples include blog sign ups, list subscriptions, websites, webinar
signups and ad responses.
The first step is to quantify a number of leads. Leads may be quantified using tools
like Google Analytics integrated into the CRM to track the number of visitors to a
website, lead capture page, blog, or another capture mechanism where the
organization wants the lead to take a specific action. Once the number of leads is

Organizations want to track the first contact and any further follow ups that take

it helps the organization find the sweet spot for determining how many follow ups

resources the organization needs to allocate to get the job done. Tracking that
monetary and time cost is also necessary to decide if an organization will reach its
sales goals. Email allows an opportunity
If email follow up is used, it provides an opportunity for the organization to automate
the follow up process and increase sales without extra work.
4. Sales process tracking
Companies that have sales funnels where there is more than one product involved
will want to track each step of the funnel. This includes tracking the number of leads
that were sent the offer and then the number of leads that made a purchase. Although
this number will go down as leads get further into the funnel because the price of the
products will get higher, there may be situations where an organization can tweak
each level of the funnel to improve sales and conversions. Surveys are an element
that an organization may want to add to the CRM as well as tracking the results of
those surveys to determine why leads didn t purchase. This data may be used to
tweak the sales funnel. The organization
Tiny House Movement
Buying a home is one of the biggest milestones a person can accomplish, and in the
American society, bigger is usually better. With larger homes, there is a certain sense
of prestige and wealth that comes along with them. Unfortunately, what home buyers
do not tend to know, is just how bad that home is to not only their health, but to the
environment and their wallets as well. That is why, over these past few years, there
has been a significant shift to what is known as the Tiny HouseMovement. However,
before we embark on the tale that is the Tiny House Movement, we first must
understand the traditional home. As of 2015, the average home in America was
about 2,600 square feet, and would cost generally anywhere between one third to a
half of any given pay. At those numbers, it takes on average fifteen years to pay off
the home which leaves about 76% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck just
keep a roof over their heads (The Tiny Life).
While it easy to only focus on the cost of the home, it is incredibly important to
consider just want that house is doing to the environment. If we take a trip back to
1981, the average home used about 183 million British thermal units, also known as
BTU. By 2012, the number rose to 188.7 million BTUs (DeSilver). As of ... Show

Alarm Fatigue And Alarm Management Essay
Assumption and Limitations The assumption of this study is that one methodology
of educating the registered nurses to alarm fatigue and alarm management will be
more effective over the other in reducing the number of false and non actionable
alarms. The expectation is to determine which educational methodology, online or
traditional, will have a greater impact on the alarm management behavior of the
nursing staff in the cardiac intensive care unit. This will be evident if the number of
nuisance alarms are affected by one or the other educational methodology of
presenting the education. The expectation is one mode of education will result in a
greater reduction in the number of false and non actionable alarms over the other.
Reduction in the number of false and non actionable alarms has been directly related
to a reduction of alarm fatigue in registered nurses (Sendelbach Funk, 2013).
Evidence supports that a reduction in alarm fatigue improves patient safety and
reduces the risk of patient adverse events (Sendelbach Funk, 2013). There are factors
that could impact the results of this project. One circumstance that could have an
impact on the study is the patient census. The number of alarms could potentially be
greater if the unit that was at capacity with 14 patient as opposed to a lower patient
census. A second factor that could have an effect on the project is untrained staff.

the poet Vyasa. Sauti begins by recounting the death of King Parikshit of the
Bharatas at the hands of Takshaka, aNaga, or snake man. King Janamejaya, Parikshit
s son and successor, had held the snake sacrifice in order to avenge the death of his
father, but the ceremony was stopped by the intervention of the learned Naga, Astika.

This is Karna. The son of Kunti and Surya (the sun god), Karna was born with
golden armor attached to his skin. But Kunti, young and unmarried, set her son
adrift on a river to be found and raised by suitable parents. He was adopted by
Adhiratha, a charioteer. None of the Pandavas realize that Karna is their brother, and
the armored warrior bests them all in martial feats. Kripa, however, questions Karna s
presence, noting that he is not a prince. Duryodhana is impressed with Karna and
more importantly, he has been looking for a warrior who could defeat Arjuna.
Duryodhana and Karna become friends, but according to traditions of obligation,
Karna is indebted to Duryodhana for his kingship and hence owes the prince a great
favor. Led into battle by Drona, the Pandavas attack the nearby kingdom ruled by
Drupada, and Drona seizes one half of the king s lands.
The Pandavas return to Hastinapura and Yudhishthira becomes heir to the throne of
Kurujangala. Jealous and fearing the loss of his future throne, Duryodhana hatches a
plot to destroy the five and acquire the kingdom for himself. While his cousins and
Kunti are visiting the town of Varanavata, they are to stay in a special house
constructed by one of Duryodhana s henchmen which he plans to have burned. Before
the Pandavas leave, however, Vidura warns Yudhishthira of the planned trap. Bhima
plans an escape route by digging a tunnel under the house through which they escape.

Arms Of An Angel Ethos Pathos Logos
This short yet powerful commercial video is released by ASPCA in 2007 to raise
the awareness of animal abuse in the US. The commercial starts with a series of
small clips of wounded and dirty animals in cages and boxes, some with visible
scars in their eyes. While these clips are played, Sara McLachlan s song Arms of an
Angel is playing solemnly in the background. The commercial is aimed to persuade
its audience to join and make donations to ASPCA for saving animals that are
abandoned and abused by humans.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the methods of persuasion that are used in this
commercial, and how the use of ethos, pathos, and logos has made the commercial
from ASPCA persuasive and successful.
First of all, the commercial has accomplished successfully of building its ethos
(credibility). The ad is made by ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals), a non profit organization that receives monthly donations for
saving animals from being abused or ignored. (Wikipedia) From ASPCA s website,
you can find its organizational structures, annual financial statements, policies and
positions, etc. It provides a transparent way to process and broadcast organization
resources. By doing this, for a person who is trying to donate, he/she can make sure
the money is spent for a good reason.
This commercial has established more credibility by using a famous singer, Sarah
McLachlan, as the spokesperson. Besides music, McLachlan is an activist for

Light And Dark In Macbeth Essay
Most people would define the word dark as the absence of light, but there are
several different meanings behind the word dark and Shakespeare proves that in his
play, Macbeth. Macbeth is about a courageous general named Macbeth who is
prophesied to be the King of Scotland by three witches. Macbeth and his wife, Lady
Macbeth, become overzealous with the prophecy of power and take it upon
themselves to kill Duncan, the King of Scotland. After committing the murder,
Macbeth and his wife are plagued with fear, ghosts, and paranoia. Throughout
Macbeth, the meaning of the word dark changes from physical darkness to
metaphoric death as it portrays the overall theme that death is inevitable. In Act 1,
the word dark and similarly, black, is used to describe the literal absence of lightand
the dark actions to follow in the play. Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth use the
word to show that they are hiding their desires to end Duncan s life. Macbeth spoke,
Let not light see my black and deep desires (4.51) and Lady Macbeth added, Nor
heaven peep through the blanket of dark, (5.52). The... Show more content on

At the very beginning of the Act Banquo comments, There s husbandry in heaven
/ Their candles are all out (1.4 5). Here Banquo uses a metaphor of a blown out
candle to explain that it is nighttime. Ross also describes nightfall when he says,
And yet dark night strangles the travelling lamp (4.7). In Act 3, Banquo is
slaughtered by Macbeth s orders again symbolizing deadly intent. The use of dark
in Act 2 is not only a cue to audience members, but also a device to create an
ominous mood foretelling Banquo s death. Additionally in Act 3, dark is still used
literally when Banquo yells metaphorically Give us light there, ho! (3.9) while
trying to escape the hired killers. The lack of light is literal for he lost his lantern
and his life becomes extinguished metaphorically. Thus, dark implies secrecy and

Romanticism And Gothicism In Jane Austen s Northanger
Abbey
The class of the novel started just in the eighteenth century however since its
exceptionally beginning it grew quickly. The distinctive sorts of the class gain for
instance a novel of conduct, a household novel or a Gothic novel. The Gothic novel is
a well unmistakable sort among the others and has a critical effect on the
improvement of the entire type of the novel. In opposition to Neoclassicism which
adulated realism, Gothicism did not trail the principles of etiquette, did not matter
instructive highlights but rather put highlight on secret, ponder and sublimity. Along
these lines, Gothic fictionincreased tremendous prevalence among the users. In any
case, after numerous books of the kind being distributed, they ended up being regular
too every one of the stories connected a similar arrangement of highlights for the
setting, plot and characters. That brought a rush of feedback of the Gothic novel...

Jane Austen displays the differentiation between the world as it is and the world as
seen by the exaggerating whom she wished to disparage. She communicates it by the
difference between a typical, sound natured young lady and the sentimental
courageous women of fiction, and by demonstrating the young lady marginally
influenced with sentimental ideas. Gothic books and their traditions happen all
through the novel, particularly in its second part. In transit from Bath to Northanger
Abbey, the Tilney family situate, Henry recounts a comical speculative tale about
Catherine s first night in the Abbey, including common highlights of gothic novel. He
teasingly gives a portrayal that is a composite of points of interest from Radcliffe s
books. As the creator expected to disparage the Gothic novel she needed to utilize the
highlights average for this sort. Not withstanding, not every one of them happen in

Henrietta Lack
In regard to the family of Henrietta Lacks suing John Hopkins Hospital, while I
sympathize with their viewpoints and claims, I believe their lawsuit is misguided and
will not stand in court. John Hopkins Hospital has a dark track record on handling
African American patients no questions on that, but unfortunately prior cases with
similar issues have resulted in failure. Many of these abuses occurred during the era
of segregation and Jim Crow not only in the southern society but within the north as
well. That being the situation, wouldn t it be hypocritical on demanding justice from
one establishment while letting the rest of society go? Additionally to that David

The Role Of Role Identity And The Second Hypothesis Of...
1. The article is called Role Identity Salience, Purpose and Meaning in Life, and Well
Being Among Volunteers , which is written by Peggy A. Thoits, from Social
Psychology Quarterly, published in 2012, volume 75, starting at page 360. In the
beginning, Thoits s main argument is that holding a social role that is important to
the person leads to a purposeful and meaningful life, thus improving their mental and
physical health. It is later broken down to four hypotheses. The first hypothesis states
that the importance of a role identity influences one s health. The second hypothesis
says that one s purpose and meaning is influenced by the importance of the role
identity. The third hypothesis states that one s mental and physical health... Show

This theory that she describes is also a perspective in social psychology. The social
interactionism perspective stresses the importance of the individual, the role, and
socialization. Society is a product of socialization because meanings and norms are
shared and agreed upon. In this theory s case, people give meaning to and rank
roles, which can also be negotiated and changed. Society agrees on what a high
status role and what a low status role is like. People evaluate themselves based on
categorizations and therefore, find their purpose in their identities. 3. The research
was conducted at Mended Hearts, and volunteers who were once patients were asked
a series of questions that uses the Likert scale. Seventy chapters, which is about 877
volunteers, participated in the experiment. The study is split into two stages. For the
first stage, volunteers were asked about their involvement, quality of life, and physical
and mental health. For the second stage, volunteers were asked about their reasons
for volunteering, the meaning and purpose obtained from volunteering, and types of
support they gave to the victims. Because there was only a 52 percent response rate,
the results could not accurately represent all the Mended Hearts visitors. The
independent variables of this experiment are the volunteers because the role of a
visitor is constant.
Fundamentals Of Ssl Certificates And Certificate...
The Fundamentals of SSL Certificates and Certificate Authorities (CA) By adding
an SSL certificate, Experts Exchange members not only protect their business but
also increase customer confidence by safely encrypting their customers most
sensitive data. For online transactions, an SSL certificate turns sensitive data into
encrypted secure code. The web browser then checks the SSL certificate to make
sure that the website is legitimate. Once verified, the web browser and server
processes the encoded information. This helps to ensure that the sensitive data
delivered between the web browser and server is handled safely, securely, and that
the website is PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant. Certificate Authorities (CA)
play an integral role in the entire SSL process because they re the ones issuing these
digital certificates. In essence, digital certificates, such as an SSL, are small verifiable
data files containing identity credentials that help authenticate the online identity of
people, websites, and devices. Each digital certificate includes valuable information
like the expiration date of the certificate, the owner s name and other important
information, along with a public key a value provided by some designated authority
as an encryption key. As a trusted entity issuing these digital certificates, the CA must
meet strict and detailed criteria before being accepted as a member. Once accepted,
the CA is authorized to distribute SSL certificates. The longer the
Learning To Read Analysis
I can t exactly say that I remember learning to read. I was fortunate enough to have
gone to a very good private school where reading and writing was taught in
preschool and reinforced all throughout the elementary and middle school grades.
Reading aloud in class was part of the daily curriculum, and because the school I
went to was Catholic, we d often read the readings in front of the entire school
during our weekly Mass. I remember reading, but I don t really remember the process
of learning how to.
When I asked my mom about learning to read, she laughed and told me the story of
when I was about three years old, upset and complaining, even crying, because I felt
that she was holding me back because I didn t know how to read yet. The story ...

I typically always spell out every word, but I occasionally use shorthand when I m
in a rush or talking to friends. Surely, being able to read correlates to being able to
use shorthand for personal use and practical use. For example, when I m taking
notes in class or texting a friend, I ll often use bc (because) in place of a semicolon.
My sentences are often very long and full of grammatical errors, but the person I m
talking to always understands what s being said because we have created our own
shorthand language. Probably becomes probs or prolly , though becomes tho , very
becomes v , and of course, the classic; you becomes u . In addition to shorthand,
proper punctuation loses all importance when I m taking notes or texting. It s very
rare that anything is properly capitalized, regardless of the person, place, or thing I m
talking about, and apostrophes and commas are completely dropped. When texting
and taking notes, all that is important is getting the information you want to convey
out. Without a good foundation of reading and writing, I think using and
understanding shorthand would be very

How Far Does Infrared Spectro-Scopy Aid In Criminal...
Lesson 17: Issue: In medicine, radioisotopes are bonded with chemical compounds
to form radioactive tracers, which are then injected into the patient s bloodstream.
The radiation emitted by the tracers allows doctors to obtain images of organ
systems, facilitating the early and accurate diagnosis of disease. However, to avoid
radio active contamination, care must be taken in the storage, use, and disposal of
this material. How does infrared spectro scopy aid in criminal investigations? Infared
spectro scopy Uses the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to analyze the
composition of different samples. In criminal investigations sample of evidence that
investigator collect are put under IR radiation. For example, if a bullet shell was
found at the crime scene, the IR spectroscopy can be used to determine the
composition of the metal. By analyzing the metal composition, the investigators can
be informed about what weapon took the shot and even which company manufactured
the shell. How has the use of X ray crystallography and mass spectrometry advanced

What Is Polarization Sensitivity Of Hcg
to be explored .
Polarization sensitivity of HCG: As polarization selectivity is important in many
applications like VCSELs. It has been shown through the literature that most of the
research is done on the 1 dimensional HCGs. Because of the asymmetrical grating
profile for TE and TM polarizations, 1D HCGs are polarization sensitive. so they
can provide high reflectivity in a specific polarization at a particular wavelength. But
there is a need of Polarization insensitive HCGs. Polarization independent HCGs
requires two dimensional HCG. So there is a need to study the properties of 2 D
HCGs for polarization insensitivity.

2.4 Research Gaps
Not much work has been published on performance evaluation of HCG for
different values of angle of incidence and with different wavelengths. Also the
effect of polarization on the grating properties has not been explored yet [16]. Less
work has been done on tight optical confinement hollow waveguide with low
temperature dependence [52]. Older high index contrast grating based ultra low
loss hollow core waveguides are not cost effective because of the requirement of
long gratings necessary for wave guiding [53]. No report on hollow core waveguide
with high index contrast grating as top and bottom mirror inserted as lateral
periodicity [55]
2.5 Research Objectives
On the basis of the understanding established from the initial study and literature
survey the
following objectives are proposed:
Design and simulation of a novel broad band and high reflective single layer high
index contrast grating for larger bandwidth at grazing optical incidence. Design and
simulation of an Hollow Waveguide (with improved propagation characteristics loss,
dispersion, bandwidth, spot size, optical confinement etc.) where proposed High
Index Contrast Grating will be used as top and bottom mirror. Simulation of
dispersion characteristics of proposed hollow core waveguide Design and simulation

St. Louis Piety
St. Louis has all these traits he is well educated, a strong warrior, very pious and
has authority. He comes from the nobility so he was well educated and taught to
fight. His family has a long tradition of being kings and they have a good relation
with the Church. But everyone makes him out to be the ideal king. The kind of
king that everyone should aspire to be. But that is not true. He went on two crusades.
On the first his army was defeated and his country was forced to pay for his release.
On is second he was killed. His religious piety was his undoing. He was so focused
on religious goals that he lost sight of being a good king. As talked about early a
good king needs to have a balance of traits and not be overwhelmed by one trait like
piety. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However during his crusade this may have led to his defeat. During the 7th
crusade, the crusades are faced with a decision of where to go after capturing
Damietta. They could choose to follow the 5th crusade and go down to Mansurah
then Cairo or go to Alexandria. Thomas Madden in The Concise History of the
Crusades takes about St. Louis reasoning behind his choice to go to Mansurah.
Louis deeply believed that God was eager to bestow great victories on his army of
crusaders, and the ease with which they had taken Damietta confirmed this for him.
He felt certain that similar victories awaited them at Mansurah and Cairo if only
they put their trust in God rather than in clever bargaining. (Madden pg160) St.
Louis felt that God was going to help them win the battles to come and put his trust
in God rather than reason. With his strong devotion to God, it is hard to say that he
was the ideal
Essay on The Process of Gas Metal Arc Welding
Gas metal arc welding, or most commonly referred to as MIG welding is a very
common and sometimes preferred method of welding. Gas metal arc is personally
one of the easiest and controllable welding types there is. Gas metal arc welding
was originally made for weld materials such as aluminum, copper, brass, tin and
lead. It was also used on steels, but shielding gases were highly expensive in the
early 1900s limiting GMAW s use on steel. It wasn t till the mid 1900 s for GMAW
to really take off. There were many different variations of arc length, electrodesize,
and power supply units. Since the MIG welder is so versatile, there are many
different types of things to make this piece of equipment.

Most power supplies also have a chart inside of them to set voltage and wire feed
depending on material thickness and electrode size.
Electrode and Shielding Gas Your electrode and both shielding gas can vary for
different materials and highly are affected by material thickness. The electrode is
there to make contact to the wielding surface and should have similar or same
compositions as the metal being welded to. Your shielding gas makes a big
difference when welding to, especially with aluminum and other non ferrous
metals. Shielding gases are used because most GMAW welding electrodes don t
have a flux; the gas is used to protect the weld. It is best to use pure inert gases such
as helium and argon for non ferrous metals because of its cleaner and less oxidizing
properties. Carbon dioxide is most commonly used for steel or an inert and carbon
dioxide gas mixture. The carbon dioxide supplies deeper penetration needed for
welding steel, but can sometimes cause an oxidation. Oxygen is even a shielding
gas but can cause your material to brittle and can cause porosity in your weld.
Another big part of GMAW and any welding operation is safety!
Safety
Safety when welding is very important and should be considered the most important
thing to take in consideration. You should always wear a very burn resistant glove;
leather is commonly used by most. Next is a wear non tattered or protective clothing

  • 2. Celebrity Cruises Essay The problem for Celebrity Cruises was clear in they needed to define a clear positioning for its customers and figure out a way to keep the demand strong maintain market share and focus on specific customers in their target market. This meant Celebrity cruises had problems with their strategies and less importantly their operations. Celebrity needed to figure out a way to retain customs with different expectations within their target market whether or not they were initial cruisers, seasonal cruisers or frequent cruisers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was also apart of their service strategy to make sure that total guest satisfaction was attained for each cruiser using control systems to maintain employee empowerment. Competitor Analysis Carnival Cruise s, Disney Cruises and Norwegian was the only other clear competitors to RCL but in terms of subsidiaries Crystal Cruises was the only direct rival in terms of size and scale and position in the industry but in analyzing the demand increase from 1999 to 2001 a 16.7% increase in demand showed that Celebrity cruises had to maintain their position as a luxury brand to continue being a major player in the industry. The demand was strong and the competition was average, as it relates to entries to market the cruise line industry requires multiple stipulations and regulations required thus unless one of the major players mentioned above acquired a smaller cruise line to increase in operations and services Celebrity s position was relatively strategic and smart. The competitive landscape was relatively small so quality improvement process should be the main focus during this time, they already created the process needed to offer superior service thus tweaks such as management training, career progression programs and increases in standard of performance programs would set Celebrity s consistent quality assurance position in the industry to better

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this difference in development occur? By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming dominated the Chesapeake. Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion, and only church members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required to attend Church services as part of the law. Most of the people in New England had been merchants or small farmers in England. In New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing, and established trade routes with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very pious and hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours. The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and civility that they were used to in England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and London Companies. They were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and suffered greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were men, which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very little reproduction. Document C, a ships list of emigrants bound for Virginia shows the lack of families travelling to Virginia, as well as the very few women, most of them single. The men fought over these

  • 9. Internet Censorship Internet Censorship: Just Say No In December of 1994, a young college student named Jake Baker posted one of his fiction pieces in an alt.sex newsgroup. Usually, his contributions to this widely read site consisted of short stories about rape, torture, and murder of women. In this particular newsgroup post, he continued with his usual contributions; however, he took it a bit further by writing about one of his fellow classmates, using her name and identity in the piece. Faculty members at the University of Michigan discovered his story and later expelled him from school. But according to the First Amendment and federal law, Baker s threats were unsuccessful; therefore, no action could ve (or should ve) been taken against him. In thinking about cases such as Jake Baker s, it truly would be too difficult to enforce United States standards and regulations on a global medium such as the Internet. There are probably millions of sites out there on the Web that contain such sexual content as did Baker s story. As one University of Michigan student mentions, The Internet allows individuals access to a larger audience. This effectively gave Baker a larger audience for his stories, which otherwise would have never seen them....I definitely question the wisdom of allowing just anyone access to such publishing power...but I m not sure that I even consider Usenet news as real media (http://krusty.eecs.umich.edu/). The same student goes on to say that Baker s stories were reserved only for a section entitled alt.sex.stories a place filled with sexually explicit stories therefore, Baker had the right to publish his offensive sex stories, since it was contained within this separate Internet section. Usenet news may not be real media, but I still think that the Internet would be too difficult to censor entirely,

Agave, the plant from which tequila is distilled, played a much larger role than just being the source of an alcoholic drink. Distillation of pulque, tequila s distant ancestor, into something

The group has also been called the Bavarian Illuminati and its ideology has been called Illuminism . Many influential intellectuals and progressive politicians counted themselves as members, including Ferdinand of Brunswick and the diplomat Xavier von Zwack, the second in command of the order. The order had branches in most European countries: it reportedly had around 2,000 members over the span of ten years. It attracted literary men such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Gottfried Herder and the reigning dukes of Gotha and Weimar. In 1777 Karl Theodor became ruler of Bavaria. He was a proponent of Enlightened Despotism and his government banned all secret societies including the Illuminati. Internal rupture and panic over succession preceded its downfall, which was affected by the Secular Edict made by the Bavarian government.] The March 2, 1785 edict seems to have been deathblow to the Illuminati in Bavaria. Weishaupt had fled and documents and internal correspondences, seized in 1786 and 1787, were subsequently published by the government in 1787. Von Zwack s home was searched to disclose much of the group s literature. There are also theories about Tupac faking his death, and he is still alive. The 7 Day Theory is an idea
  • 12. Factors That Motivated European Imperialism In Africa What aspects do you think motivated Europe imperialism in Africa? Between 1500 1800, Europe traded along the west coast of Africa, but they were not able to reach the interior due to all the diseases they could catch. In the 1800s, European explorers had a cure for diseases and were prepared to push their way into the interior of the continent. By the 1880s, European nations competed with one another for control over Africa. With this being said, what do you think motivated Europeto imperialize in Africa? Many things contributed to the driving force behind European imperialism, such as politics, economics, and cultural attitudes. Politics played a major part in motivating Europe to imperialize in Africa. Document A shows how Africa was divided and which two states remained independent. Fourteen European nations met at the Berlin Conference to decide how Africa would be divided. In Document B, nationalism in Europe increased as the Industrial Revolutionand French Revolution ideas spread throughout Europe. Without the appointed board members, the Federal Reserve System may not have a backup plan consisting of alternate board members to fill the role of the recently departed. Without a Board of Governors to oversee the policies and practices of the banks, then more economic ruin could be on the horizon. Who will be responsible for maintaining the economic flow that keeps interest rates down and dollars circulating? This uncertainty will keep Americans from spending more than what is needed for essentials, ultimately slowing the economy, and an absent Board of Governors and Chairman to execute the plan to boost the economy. For instance, the Chairman of the Board of Governors not only manage the member banks and presides over the Board of Governors, but also has to testify before Congress twice a year. In the event that there was no contingency plan for an alternate Board of Governors, the member bank presidents will have to oversee themselves until the President appoints new members and Congress

However, there are times shown in the film in which Romero does indeed lack these virtues. El Salvador is put in a very tough place in which many people are being killed by the guerillas for standing up for what they believe in. It is believed to be Romero s duty to help put an end to this and it is his goal to make his people, and the people of the church, feel comfortable sharing their beliefs. Whether he thinks this is best or not he states multiple times, I am not bringing politics in this, it is simple my job to run the church (Romero 20:00). When Father Grande gets murdered, Romero decides to shut down all masses except 1 to raise awareness for the people murdered. When he is accused of trying to make a political statement he denies it by stating, I want to gather people to mourn the deaths and to express their outrage (Romero 34:30). Romero doesn t start showing signs of prudence until later in the film. He enters the church to a room full of soldiers and asks to take care of the Eucharist that was still placed there. The soldiers refuse and end up shooting at the altar, which can be interpreted as shooting at Jesus. This is the scene that really opens Romero s eyes. After this he begins to act prudently by taking action. He sends a letter to the US asking that they discontinue the sending of weapons because, as quoted by Romero, They are only being used to kill our own people (Romero 1:10:00). Romero shows a great amount of prudence in the end when he asks God for help. He is asking God to show him the best course of action in order to keep his people

The Berbers (and the ancient Egyptians) were of Hamitic stock racially Caucasian, with European facial characteristics. The Negroes included the small statured Pygmies. The pygmies, and a third race the rather yellow skinned Bushmen may have been widely spread over central and southern Africa until they were driven from the most fruitful lands by the Negroes. Between about 4000 and 2000 B.C, as the desert spread, the peoples of the Sahara gradually emigrated to the north, east and south though some remained, learning to live with little water: their descendants are the Berber Tuareg of the desert today (whose men wear veils). Those who went South settled in the western and central Sudan. (The term Sudan relates to the wide strip of grassland stretching across Africa, south of the Sahara and Egypt. The western Sudan is separated from the coast to the south by a belt of dense forest.) In the Sudan the newcomers mixed with other Negro tribes to form the Bantu speaking peoples, who gradually spread into central, eastern and southern Africa. In the eastern Sudan, south of Egypt, another civilisation arose, starting about 1000 B.C. that of the Kushites, probably a mixture of Hamitic and Negro stock. Further east is Ethiopia. In Experiment One, the data signifies that the velocity of the enzyme increased as the concentration of the substrate increased. However, the data from the second experiment draws inconclusive. The qualitative observations of the color change were a clear sign to start the experiment over again due to possible contamination, and that was not done. This could possibly be a reason why the data shown in the effects of temperature is so skewed. While temperature should rapidly increase the rate of enzyme activity until a certain point at which the enzyme denatures, the data shows denaturation of all enzymes besides Tubes 3 and 4, the color changing solutions in both parts of Experiment Two. The temperature of the baths was 2 degrees Celsius for the cold bath, and 50 degrees Celsius for the warm bath. Both of these temperatures are at the denaturation point of the enzyme, so it would make sense for this temperature to have such effect (Rakhmetov, A.D., Lee, S.P., Ostapchenko, L.I., et. al, 2015). However, for Tubes 3 and 4, there must have been some human error or contamination of the stock solution to skew the data for these

If you use exactly ten seeds, you will find it much better to calculate the percentage of germination after that. Here is why. If 5 out of 10 seeds germinate, then 50% of your seeds will grow during the season. That s pretty risky. So you need more than 70% or else planting will not be worth the effort. Ideally, 8 or 9 out of 10 seeds will sprout. However, if you get less than 70%, you had better not put work into it at all. Buy new seeds for the upcoming planting season. • 24. The Pros And Cons Of Evaporation Evaporation is the process that changes liquids into gases. When a liquid is heated, it becomes a gas and spreads into the atmosphere, or the surrounding air. Liquids becomes gases by adding thermal energy to them. Thermal energy is the amount of energy any matter has because of the moving particles, molecules and atoms, inside it. The lakes, rivers, and oceans evaporate when the sun comes out and heats them up. The molecules from the bodies of water rise from Earth s surface into the surrounding atmosphere. Even small puddles of water can evaporate when the sun comes out and warms them. Let s explore heat and evaporation. When you see a pot of water boiling on the stove, you see steam coming out of the pot and going into the surrounding air. The steam is called water vapor, and it s created by the heating of the water. The heat applied to the water gives the molecules in the water more energy, which makes the molecules move around faster, and escape into the atmosphere. When molecules of water evaporate, heat from the object they evaporated from goes with them into the air. The heat is called latent heat, and it s inside the water molecules. This also lowers the temperature of the object the heat came from. Evaporative cooling is when an object cools down because of evaporation. When you exercise and it s hot outside, your body sweats. When your body sweats, evaporation causes the water on your body, or the sweat, to eventually evaporate, or rise into the air. This action

However, China s recent rise to power has lead international relations experts, Ikenberry, Mearsheimer, Subramanian, and Friedberg, to predict an upcoming power shift in the international system. China s increasing control over the Asia Pacific region has threatened U.S. power. According to Waltz, the realism paradigm interprets the anarchic structure of the international community, as a constant power struggle. Although each country may be different, to survive, they must all strive for power. Under the liberalism paradigm, the system is still anarchical but cooperation may be achieved by shared norms, and aligned political and economical interests.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Snyder claims that realism failed to predict the Cold War. Given this, Mearsheimer states China cannot rise peacefully. Since realists describe the world as a self help system, according to Posen, every country must look to its own interests relative to those of others and because security is the preeminent issue in an anarchic world, the distribution of capabilities to attack and defend should matter. Thus, because China s strive for regional hegemony inevitably threatens the power dynamic of the global system, the U.S. will, according to Mearsheimer, take an offensive realist approach that will eventually lead to war. In addition, as seen in post Cold War, economic stability greatly determines the distribution of power. Friedberg notes, that the projected speed and magnitude of China s growth in recent decades appears to be unprecedented and as early as 2015, China s economy could overtake that of the United States. Although the U.S. faces an unprecedented challenge to economic power, according to Ikenberry, China has signaled cooperation by redoubling its participation in existing institutions, such as the ASEAN Regional Forum and the East Asia Summit or working with the other great powers in the region to build new ones. Nevertheless, following the actions of the U.S. post WWII, China strategically makes itself more predictable and approachable to reduce the incentives for other

The importance of ritual sacrifice to ancient Greeceis displayed by the passage from the Odyssey in which ... the people of Pylos were gathered on the sea shore to offer sacrifice of black bulls to Neptune lord of the Earthquake. Because of the varied believed uses, every Greek used sacrifice or participated in the ceremony at some point in their lives, illustrating a united community. The social impact of sacrifice is illustrated clearly in mythology. Because sacrifice could show how gods were feeling, influenced the plot, and helped characterize the heroes, sacrifice was key to mythology. ...so [I, Odysseus] sacrificed [the ram] on the sea shore, and burned its thigh bones to [Zeus], who is the lord of all. But he heeded not my sacrifice, and only thought how he might destroy my ships and my comrades. This example provides characterization for both Odysseus and Zeus, showing the god as righteous and angry, and Odysseus as clever (using sacrifice as an apology, even if he s not remorseful). In other myths, such as the Iliad, a ritual sacrifice takes place before every meal, showing the men to be respectful and devoted to their culture, even in times of chaos. In mythology, sacrifice is rarely, if ever, portrayed in a way that shows violence, because the act is sacred and treated as such by the heroes. • 34. Trigger Finger Research Paper Introduction Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) is a condition that causes a finger to get stuck in a bent position. Each finger has a tough, cord like tissue that connects muscle to bone (tendon) and is surrounded by a tunnel of tissue (tendon sheath). To move your finger, your tendon needs to slide freely through the sheath. Trigger finger happens when the tendon or sheath thicken, making it difficult to move your finger. Trigger finger can affect any finger or thumb. It may affect more than one finger. Mild cases may clear up with rest and medicine. Severe cases require more treatment. What are the causes? Trigger finger is caused by a thickened finger tendon or tendon sheath. The cause of this thickening is not known. What increases the risk? The following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Common Mental Disorders As WHO (2001) estimated, about 450 million people around the world suffer from mental disorders, and mental disorders is therefore one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Studies have been contributing to the growing number of mental disorders for long. Although medical scientists attribute the causes to the physiological factors, social scientists often time argue that the socioeconomic development of a country, social classes, gender, and other social factors have impacts on mental disorders. A broad term for the mental health, the common mental disorders (CMDs), which refers to the general term for non psychotic, depressive, and anxiety disorders, is a common used diagnostic category to describe the slight or early mental problems (Fu et al. 2012). The common mental disorders provides an opportunity for researcher to take advantages of both the physiologists and the social scientists views. In general, although research regard the common mental disorders as a single factor most of the times, it is possible that there are two dimensions, the somatic and the affective dimensions, that constitute the common mental disorders. Results During the Holocaust, doctors had free reign to do whatever they wanted to any prisoner at any of the concentration camps. The majority of the prisoners were to be sent to the gas chambers and killed, so the doctors justified their torturous experiments by saying the patients were fated to die anyways. Thus, instead of doing their job, instead of bringing assistance and comfort to the sick people who needed them most, instead of helping the mutilated and the handicapped to live, eat, and hope one more day, one more hour, doctors became their executioners (Spitz 191). When men and women become doctors they take a vow. In this vow they state to keep the sick from harm and injustice and to never give any patient a deadly drug. The doctors of the Holocaust simply must have come to the conclusion that this vow, that they were required to make, no longer applied to them and the prisoners they were treating . As I conducted my own research on these doctors, I found that there was one doctor in particular who stood out among the others. A doctor much crueler than the rest, Josef Mengele. He was known as Auschwitz s own Angel of death . Wherever he sprang up, Death spread its shadow (Spitz 215). Auschwitz sole purpose was mass extermination, and Mengele quickly took advantage of this. He did not gradually become unethical; his disturbing actions and decisions began the moment he arrived at Auschwitz. Within

The best KPIs to increase traffic and sales for an organization focus on leads. 1. Lead acquisition Lead tracking begins with a goal. Sales organizations use different mechanisms to acquire leads. Examples include blog sign ups, list subscriptions, websites, webinar signups and ad responses. The first step is to quantify a number of leads. Leads may be quantified using tools like Google Analytics integrated into the CRM to track the number of visitors to a website, lead capture page, blog, or another capture mechanism where the organization wants the lead to take a specific action. By tracking them, it helps the organization find the sweet spot for determining how many follow ups are necessary to make the sale and increase revenue. This will also decide the resources the organization needs to allocate to get the job done. Tracking that monetary and time cost is also necessary to decide if an organization will reach its sales goals. Email allows an opportunity If email follow up is used, it provides an opportunity for the organization to automate the follow up process and increase sales without extra work. 4. Sales process tracking Companies that have sales funnels where there is more than one product involved will want to track each step of the funnel. This includes tracking the number of leads that were sent the offer and then the number of leads that made a purchase. Although this number will go down as leads get further into the funnel because the price of the products will get higher, there may be situations where an organization can tweak each level of the funnel to improve sales and conversions. Surveys are an element that an organization may want to add to the CRM as well as tracking the results of those surveys to determine why leads didn t purchase. This data may be used to tweak the sales funnel. The organization

Light And Dark In Macbeth Essay Most people would define the word dark as the absence of light, but there are several different meanings behind the word dark and Shakespeare proves that in his play, Macbeth. Macbeth is about a courageous general named Macbeth who is prophesied to be the King of Scotland by three witches. Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth, become overzealous with the prophecy of power and take it upon themselves to kill Duncan, the King of Scotland. After committing the murder, Macbeth and his wife are plagued with fear, ghosts, and paranoia. Throughout Macbeth, the meaning of the word dark changes from physical darkness to metaphoric death as it portrays the overall theme that death is inevitable. In Act 1, the word dark and similarly, black, is used to describe the literal absence of lightand the dark actions to follow in the play. During the 7th crusade, the crusades are faced with a decision of where to go after capturing Damietta. They could choose to follow the 5th crusade and go down to Mansurah then Cairo or go to Alexandria. Thomas Madden in The Concise History of the Crusades takes about St. Louis reasoning behind his choice to go to Mansurah. Louis deeply believed that God was eager to bestow great victories on his army of crusaders, and the ease with which they had taken Damietta confirmed this for him. He felt certain that similar victories awaited them at Mansurah and Cairo if only they put their trust in God rather than in clever bargaining. (Madden pg160) St. Louis felt that God was going to help them win the battles to come and put his trust in God rather than reason. With his strong devotion to God, it is hard to say that he was the ideal
  • 55. Essay on The Process of Gas Metal Arc Welding Gas metal arc welding, or most commonly referred to as MIG welding is a very common and sometimes preferred method of welding. Gas metal arc is personally one of the easiest and controllable welding types there is. Gas metal arc welding was originally made for weld materials such as aluminum, copper, brass, tin and lead. It was also used on steels, but shielding gases were highly expensive in the early 1900s limiting GMAW s use on steel. It wasn t till the mid 1900 s for GMAW to really take off. There were many different variations of arc length, electrodesize, and power supply units. Since the MIG welder is so versatile, there are many different types of things to make this piece of equipment. Welding Gun The MIG welder is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most power supplies also have a chart inside of them to set voltage and wire feed depending on material thickness and electrode size. Electrode and Shielding Gas Your electrode and both shielding gas can vary for different materials and highly are affected by material thickness. The electrode is there to make contact to the wielding surface and should have similar or same compositions as the metal being welded to. Your shielding gas makes a big difference when welding to, especially with aluminum and other non ferrous metals. Shielding gases are used because most GMAW welding electrodes don t have a flux; the gas is used to protect the weld. It is best to use pure inert gases such as helium and argon for non ferrous metals because of its cleaner and less oxidizing properties. Carbon dioxide is most commonly used for steel or an inert and carbon dioxide gas mixture. The carbon dioxide supplies deeper penetration needed for welding steel, but can sometimes cause an oxidation. Oxygen is even a shielding gas but can cause your material to brittle and can cause porosity in your weld. Another big part of GMAW and any welding operation is safety! Safety Safety when welding is very important and should be considered the most important thing to take in consideration. You should always wear a very burn resistant glove; leather is commonly used by most. Next is a wear non tattered or protective clothing just in case some
