Essay My Vacation
Crafting an essay about my vacation may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but once you
delve into the process, you quickly realize the challenges that lie ahead. The difficulty lies not in
the scarcity of content but in the abundance of experiences to choose from. Every vacation is a
mosaic of emotions, sights, and moments that beg to be woven into a narrative. The challenge
then becomes the art of selection – deciding which anecdotes to include, which details to
highlight, and which sentiments to convey.
Moreover, conveying the essence of the vacation requires striking a delicate balance between
personal reflection and engaging storytelling. It's not merely about listing the places visited and
activities undertaken; it's about encapsulating the spirit of the journey, the emotions felt, and the
lessons learned. One must navigate through the plethora of memories, selecting those that best
exemplify the transformative nature of the vacation.
The intricacy of such an essay lies in avoiding clichГ©s and steering clear of banal descriptions.
It's about finding a unique angle, a fresh perspective that sets the narrative apart from the myriad
other vacation essays. The challenge is to transport the reader into the shoes of the narrator,
allowing them to vicariously experience the joy, the surprises, and even the occasional setbacks
that colored the vacation.
The struggle is not only with the selection of content but also with the structure and coherence of
the essay. How does one seamlessly transition from one segment of the vacation to another?
How does one maintain a sense of continuity while ensuring each paragraph contributes
meaningfully to the overall narrative? These are the questions that make the writing process both
intellectually stimulating and demanding.
In essence, the difficulty in writing an essay about my vacation lies in the meticulous
craftsmanship it demands. It's an exercise in selecting, shaping, and presenting personal
experiences in a way that resonates with a broader audience. And as the writer grapples with
these challenges, the final product emerges as a testament to the artistry involved in translating a
vacation into words.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, there are resources available.

Power In Relationships
It takes two people at minimum to form a conversation, start a relationship
romantic or not, and it takes one person in that relationship to form power over the
other one. Power is given off differently whether the other person has expertise, or
past experiences in that specific situation.Control is in every relationship whether
it is known to both people or not,I have experienced this first hand in every
relationship I have encountered and some of them I have established that I held the
power role. The word power sounds like it can be negative or positive depending on
who is giving the power or who holds the power role. Most people will agree that

Downtown Houston Essay
Downtown Houston is often associated with business, entertainment and plenty of
traffic. However, over the next 5 years the center of our city will be focusing on
building its reputation as a residential neighborhood.
Houston has seen a major revitalization of the areas inside of the 610 loop, from the
Heights, to Montrose, and Midtown. Many new high rises have been built in these up
and coming neighborhoods over the last decade, resulting in an influx of residential
living that has slowly crept toward downtown, but has never quite reached into the
limits of the downtown area.
Mostly attracting young urban professionals, empty nesters and small families,
Downtown Houston is hoping to provide more housing options for just about any
Houstonian interested in calling the area home. To show it means business, the city s
Downtown s Living Initiative is going strong, offering $15,000 per unit in tax rebates
developers who commit to building homes or undertake multifamily living projects.

African art and the politics of identity in the twenty first century.
Identity is never an a priori, nor a finished product; it is only ever the problematic
process of access to an image of totality H. Bhahba (1994:50)
Introduction.
The second half of the twentieth century saw the liberation of the African continent
from colonial rule, a time that occasioned the rise of new pride in and new searches
for definitions of identities released from the colonial confines. In the twentieth
century the politics of identity became salient in discourses, political, social, and
cultural, on Africa. The idea of the diaspora was central to new conceptions on African
art, often leading to the exclusion of artist residing in Africa in preference of those
living in the nomadic condition. The forefront of Africa in modernity was thus not
seen as residing in Africa itself but in those that found themselves in the realms of the
hegemonic modernity of the West. Nevertheless independence from colonial rule saw
a surge in self defining nationalisms based on an ideal form of African nation and
identity. Ways of being and producing African art were prescribed to artists, though
this does not mean that individual agency was lost. As Atkinson states on post
Apartheid South Africa: it is clear that the stakes have shifted, and the country s
reintegration into international art , culture, and politics, has
A Look into Calvin Klein’s Advertisements Essays
A Look into Calvin Klein s Advertisements
As a seductive young man looks into a camera a raspy voice, off camera, whispers,
You got a real nice look. How old are you? Are you strong? You think you could rip
that shirt off? That s a real nice body. You work out? I can tell. No, it s not straight
out of a steamy romance novel, though it could be. This is just one example of how
provocative Calvin Klein s advertisements have been. Although the ads boosted sales
for the Calvin Klein empire, it angered many parents, religious groups, and even the
media over its message, its image, and its legality.
There is no doubt the ads are in bad taste, but in advertising today, sex sells.

And that their advertising explodes on the media scene.
Calvin Klein eventually dropped the $6 million dollar campaign after the
advertisements were accused of violating child pornography laws. On September 8
the Justice Department began looking into claims that the ads used young models
posed in a provocative manner. A Calvin Klein spokeswoman stated that only one
of the models used in their ads was under the age of 18. The fifteen year old girl that
was in his ads was Bijou Phillips, whose mother was aware of the ad and was proud
of her daughter.
If the parents of the teen models allowed their children to pose for the
advertisements, who are we to blame the CK company for using them. Who are we
to look down on Calvin Klein s ads when you can watch any show on prime time
TV and see much worse than what the ads portrayed? Who are we to suggest that
the ads are suggestive when all we know is that, in advertising, sex sells and sells
big? Isn t Calvin Klein just giving the public what it wants?
Calvin Klein has publicly stated that the misunderstood ads had been intended to
convey the spirit, independence, and inner worth of today s young people.
Personally, I do not really buy that argument. Is he saying that the teenagers today are
always thinking about it, doing it, or discussing it. But, at the same time, I don t
think the public should automatically label him or his company as perverts for using

Character Analysis Of Frankenstein

Frankenstein
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a story that follows Victor Frankenstein and his life
stories. It starts when he is a little child enjoying life and reading a lot. His joy does
not last as he is plagued by misery when his sister Elizabeth gets sick and grows very
ill and comes close to death, but is miraculously saved by their mother. Then days
later they watch their mother die by the same disease his sister had. This only
marks the beginning of his misery. He then goes to college and creates a horrible
monster which goes and kills his brother, Justine :a loved family servant:, his
friend, and his wife. He is deeply depressed by all of this and is stricken on revenge
to kill the monster and be at peace. The story closes with Frankenstein dying and the
monster awaiting his death in the frozen tundra. In this story Frankenstein s character
develops throughout the story Three main character traits Frankenstein has is
dedicated, depressed, and cautiousness.
Frankenstein is dedicated when coming to his projects. He committed years to his
work when creating his first monster. He was working so hard he forgot he needed
rest and food sometimes. It may seem negative but if you gave Frankenstein a task
he would complete it. When he was a child he devoted himself to reading about the
works of earlier scientist But here were books, and here were men who had
penetrated deeper and knew more. I took their word for all that
Hamlet Acts Morally, Harms Others by his Actions, and...
Hamlet is Shakespeare s most famous work of tragedy. Throughout the play the title
character, Hamlet, tends to seek revenge for his father s death. Shakespeare achieved
his work in Hamlet through his brilliant depiction of the hero s struggle with two
opposing forces that hunt Hamlet throughout the play: moral integrity and the need to
avenge his father s murder. When Hamlet sets his mind to revenge his fathers death,
he is faced with many challenges that delay him from committing murder to his uncle
Claudius, who killed Hamlets father, the former king. During this delay, he harms
others with his actions by acting irrationally, threatening Gertrude, his mother, and by
killing Polonius which led into the madness and death of Ophelia.... Show more

That would be scann d A villain kills my father; and, for that, I, his sole son, do this
same villain send To heaven. (Act 3.3.74 79) Here, Hamlet shows despite his need
to revenge for his father, he is held back from his constant thought of his actions as
well as his moral considerations. It s been clearly stated that Hamlet has a strong
sense of heaven and hell; that he won t kill his uncle while praying, because he
thinks he might go to heaven. Hamlet himself doesn t want to kill his uncle without
being assured that he is guilty. This is why, by the end of the play, Claudius death
is something we applaud, regretting only that he was not killed sooner. The reason
of this delay is because of Hamlets moral triumph. His morality often keeps him from
acting; it makes him mull around in his uncertainty and anxiety, instead of just acting
and bringing his struggle to an end. Although Hamlet has thoughts on the moral
consequences of revenge, which is the cause of the delay to gain vengeance for his
father, he deceives others by his irritating actions. After threatening the queen in her
bedroom, telling her that she is not leaving the room until he knows that she is
innocent from his fathers death. Come, come, and sit you down; you shall not
budge: You go not, till I set you up a glass Where you may see the inmost part of
you. (Act 3.4.19 21) As Hamlet was threatening her, he hears a voice behind the
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ict In The Philippines
Advances in technology have had a tremendous impact on society. The Philippines is
one those developing country in Asia that seeks to uplift the technology advancement
of the nation since ICT is considered a valuable tool that can be used for the
economic development of the country. And in a region where other countries are
already ahead in using ICT to their benefit, we are still struggling to make effective
used of it. One of the advantages mentioned is that the development of ICT in the
Philippines makes communication faster, reliable and efficient. Shinn (2001) noted
that some Internetsearch engines can search 1.3 billion unique web addresses,
search the equivalent of a 70 mile high stack of paper, or locate 14 million web
pages about learning in less than one second. It can make research works easier

how our ICT programs lag behind from these countries. It takes a private entity like

lot of internet related crimes committed in the net like launching malwares, spy

Princess Of Mars
In the novel A Princess of Mars, I will be responding to Burroughs s
characterization of the green Martians in the novel A Princess of Mars which caught
my interest for some reason. John Carter; the hero in this story, first meets these
enormously tall green creatures when he first awakens on Mars after being
transported there from the cave. The green Martians are fifteen feet tall and have six
legs; two arms and two legs. John Carter calls them, hideous little monsters (15).
Burroughs s describes them with scrawny bodies and long necks. As Burroughs says
in the novel, There was no hair on their bodies, which were of a very light yellowish
green color. In the adults, as I was to learn quite soon, this color deepens to an olive

stages, corresponding to increasing sleep depth . Stage 2 sleep corresponds to light
sleep and is characterized by K complexes and sleep spindles. While sleep deepens,
the amount of slow oscillations increases leading to stages 3 and 4 sleep, or slow
wave sleep (SWS). In carnivores such as cats or dogs, NREM is subdivided into
light and deep SWS; and in rats or mice only one NREM stage is usually defined.
This categorization of sleep stages is however somehow arbitrary. All through the
night, the NREM and REM sleep periods alternate following an ultradian cycle, SWS
invariably preceding REM sleep in healthy subjects. In humans, the ultradian cycle is
about 90В±100 min, but it is important to note that SWS is most abundant during the
first half of the night (up to 80% of the sleep time), while in the second half of the
night, the proportion of REM... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
explicit, and non declarative, i.e. procedural or implicit, memory in man. Sleep is
composed of two prominent stages, namely REM sleep and NREM sleep, the latter
being subdivided into SWS and Stage 2 sleep in humans. These stages of sleep differ
by many factors including their temporal distribution and regulation, the pattern of
neuronal activity, the specific neurotransmitter and neurochemical changes, and
regional brain activity. Up to now, four experimental approaches have been used to
test the hypothesis of the processing of memory traces during sleep: (1) the effects of
post training sleep deprivation on memory consolidation, (2) the effects of learning
on post training sleep, (3) the effects of within sleep stimulation on the sleep pattern
and overnight memories, and (4) the re expression of behavior specific neural
patterns during post training sleep. These studies, which we review here, actually
suggest that REM and NREM sleep stages could have memory related functions. On
this basis, not all types of memories seem to rely on the same stage of sleep for
A Swiss Transnational Food And Beverage Company
1.Introduction
NestlГ© S.A. is a Swiss transnational food and beverage company. According to its
annual report, this company is exposed to risk from movements in foreign currency
exchange rates, interest rate and market prices. The foreign exchange risks come
from transactions and translations of foreign operations in Swiss Francs (CHF). The
interest rate risk faces the borrowings at fixed and variable rates. The market price
risk comes from commodity price and equity price. The former arises from world
commodity market for the supplies of coffee, cocoa beans, sugar and others, the latter
instead arises from the fluctuations of the prices of investments held (NestlГ© annual
reports, 2015). Thus, financial derivatives instruments are used by this multinational
corporation in order to hedge these risks.
Moreover, because of the huge worldwide extension of the corporation, which
operates in 194 countries, the use of foreign currency derivatives to minimize the
earnings volatility would be the subject of later analysis. The report will focus on
how NestlГ© uses futures and option contracts to hedge its exposure to currency risk,
centering our attention in NestlГ© Home Currency, the Swiss Franc in relation to the
US Dollar (USD/CHF).
2.Currency risk: USD/CHF
The dollar has shown signs of weakness in the past few years. In 2014, the value of
the dollar was lower than nowadays. Two years ago, it could be bought an amount of
$1000 by the price of
The Exciting yet Stressful Career of Computer
Programming
How could you be reading this paper right now without programs like Windows and
Word that this document was made on? Technology is a fundamental part of our
everyday lives, meaning the people who program computers have significant jobs.
Although it is essential that computers are built from scratch, people are needed to
transform these computers from complex machines that users need a college diploma
to the user friendly interfaces we see today. In order to become and remain a computer
programmer, a student could go to college and obtain a degree or self teach himself.
Computer programming is a difficult yet rewarding career. Programmers use
different programming languages in their day to day lives; similar to foreign
languages they are similar in some ways but different in others. Three languages
commonly used by computer programmers are Visual Basic, C++, and Java (
Major: Computer Programming, General ). Other languages include SQL, HTML,
and .NET (Juliano, Jim). Programming can even be done as a hobby instead of a
career (Reeves and Kent). People can release their work as open source software;
many of these open source software such as Apache HTTPD, WordPress, and PHP
run millions of websites across the world. Programming is a love it or hate it
occupation (Reeves and Kent). A programmer has to have passion for programming
in order to be successful; one cannot simply choose programming as a job unless they
truly enjoy it. Programmers enjoy their jobs because
African Slave Trade In The 1600s
The slave trade in the North American colonies began to grow in the 1600s. The
African slave trade sourced their slaves from many different West African villages
and countries. The business of slavery was a growing and profitable field, not only
for the slavers, but also for the slaveholders. With the decrease of indentured
servants, settlers in the English colonies looked for a new source of labor to satisfy
their growing labor demands. The next source was Africa. By the 1690s slaves
outnumbered indentured servants four to one (45). Europeans largely disregarded the
ethical dilemma posed by slaverydue to the European view of Africans and their
culture as uncivilized, foreign, and heathen (44). The largest forced migration in

Kant s Categorical Imperative
Kant s theory of ethics, known as the categorical imperative, is an absolutist theory.
This means that if something is wrong then it is always wrong. For example, if
suicide is wrong then it is still wrong even if an elderly person at the end of their
life is asking for assisted suicide. Kant s theory is also deontological which means
that it is linked to the moralityof duty. We all have a duty and that is to obey the
categorical imperative. An action can only be correct if we do it out of duty. The
categorical imperative has three formulations. The first formulation is to always act
so that you can consistently will that the maxim of your action become a universal
moral law for all humankind. This means that one should act upon a maxim... Show

Though the action can be universalized she is being used as a means to an end (i.e.
she is being used to support the homeless). If she would have paid attention to what
I said and came to her own judgement of wanting to help the homeless because it
will help others, the action would be moral. The third and final formulation is the
kingdom of ends. Kant states the following conclusion Therefore, every rational
being must so act as if he were through his maxim always a legislating member in
the universal kingdom of ends. Simply put, exceptions cannot be made for certain
individuals. To conclude, I would have to say that this theory is not plausible in
today s world. The Categorical Imperative is too rigid to be a workable system it just
doesn t take into account the complexity of human beings and their relationships. It
does remind me, somewhat, of the guiding principles of Christianity. The Bible
states So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this
is the Law and the Prophets. Granted, we should all strive to do the right thing in
every situation sometimes people lie to spare someone s feelings or steal food to
curb starvation. I would like to entertain this theory as possible; however, I cannot
see it as a
Land Art History
When it emerged in the sixties among the crush of several other art movements (Pop
Art, Minimalism, among others) Land Art came to be an anti gallery artistic offshoot
that straddled the domain between architecture and sculpture. It had no manifestos
nor schools nor leaders and it was not quite a movement; the artists who were
involved with it were also involved in other types of arts. Land artwas labelled as
modern sculpture but its versatility and introduction of new concepts and visual
materials made it difficult to ascribe it to one field or term. Later on, the term Earth
Works, coined by Robert Smithsoncame to use but Earth Works only refers to works
that use earth while Land Art is an all encompassing umbrella that includes works...

Smithson s work Broken Circle Spiral Hill is two different works situated near
each other. It is actually not in America but was commissioned for an exhibition in
the Netherlands near Emmen. Spiral Hill is an earth mound that coils clockwise
unto itself, like a sleeping snake. When it was completed it was just shaped earth
but in current day it is covered in green grass. Situated nearby on the edge of the
shore and into the water is the Broken Circle; its site was actually a functioning
sand and gravel quarry which was filled with green water. Smithson played with
the negative and positive space in such a way that the broken circle whose
alternating arms are shaped with white and yellow sand, recalls the Chinese Yin
Yang symbol. In the middle of the positive space half circle sits a boulder and this
is yet again another allusion to monumental works of the past, this one
appropriately native to Dutch lands. Yet the center boulder in fact significantly
expands the associative levels of this work because it offers a direct tie to
prehistory. . . . In the Bronze Age they [this type of large rock] were used to make

Analysis Of The Poem The I Love ! Free As The Mountain...
The lines are spoken following an extended lamentation in Plate 6 by Oothoon in
which she ascribes the origins of joy to infancy. Thus, it is over the course of one s
lifetime and under the influence of societal reason (personified in the form of Urizen)
that joy and happiness are subjugated and desecrated. Indeed, this accursed thing is
taught or learned by Theotormon rather than intrinsic in his nature (7.13). This is
important to note because out of this perverted perspective comes the
misunderstanding of lovethat Oothoon delineates in my chosen passage.
Within the first two lines, she separates her own version of love with that of her
tormented lover. Hers is a happy Love! free as the mountain wind! (7.16). Like the
wind imagery she invokes, it cannot be bottled up; it is clear, beautiful, and
seemingly endless. The love of Theotormon and consequently that of society at
large is, in contrast, restricted. It spin[s] a web of age around him, grey and hoary!
dark! (7.19). According to the OED, hoary indicates hairy growth with age. Blake
thus presents the image of a man bound tightly by his misinterpreted and
misdirected love, and growing old, grey, and bearded overtime. The web is
constructed of age and this, along with the use of the word hoary and its temporal
reference, implies that Theotormon is restricted by time as well. Perhaps what Blake
is indicating here is that the restrictive force of societies conception of love has been
built over

Essay On Darden
1. Darden Restaurants segments the sit down dining market by creating the idea of
casual dining and having three different chains of restaurants that aim to serve a
specific group of consumers. Darden has taken the total market of those who go to
eat out and broken it down to a smaller segment of people who do not want to go to a
fancy restaurant, but at the same time want something more than fast food. This
segmentation is also known as demographic segmentation. Demographic
segmentation is when a market is divided up based on the age, gender, income,
ethnicity, etc. Darden recognized the demographics (primarily their income, age, and
generation) of the people that would be coming to eat at their restaurants, so that they
are better able to cater to them. The CEO of Darden, Clarence Otis, once stated that

The Politics And Last National Security Essay
Arms Trade, Weapons Sales, Armament Sales are just few terms used for the
manufacture and sale or trade of devices to protect a country, attack another and quite
possibly benefit economically, or politically on a global scale. Countries, entities,
factions, make, sell, and give things of destruction to others. This is a reality. The
intent of this paper is to provide information that individuals can use to determine the
necessity. The economics, the politics and last the National Securityare the three main
discussion points.
History
History of Arms Trade, Weapons Trade or the trade any of items necessary to
protect, feed or conquer dates back to the dawn of time. Scholars note that arms
trade or weapons trade could be traced back 300,000 years (Thieme). As humans
evolved and interacted with each other, scholars speculate that the trade of many
things occurred. The trade would include stories, knowledge, which can be
considered intangibles, then the tangibles, seeds for food, things to make tools, how
to make a shelter, weapons for protection and survival. Basically trade included
instruction and things needed for every aspect of life; to survive. Agers 2

clan or tribe with really good wood staffs. You put both together you have a more

The United States And South Vietnam Achieved During

The tactical victory that the United States and South Vietnam achieved during the Tet
Offensive turned into a defeat because of how the media in America covered the
events of the Tet Offensive. While, surprised during the early stages of the Tet
Offensive the United States and South Vietnamese forces were able to regroup
quickly and force the North Vietnamese back from the positions and cities that they
had taken like Hue (Herring, 239). In the aftermath of the Tet Offensive, much of the
news report was left in disbelief and confusion on what had happened. Such reports
that displayed news of North Vietnamese forces breaking into the embassy in Saigon
and televised broadcasts of the heavy fighting taking placed left the public with a
question of whether the United States was winning the war in Vietnam(Herring, 240
241). Such reports and photos of the fighting caused the Homefront in America to
question Johnson and Westmorland s tactics in Vietnam. Photos like the South
Vietnamese police officer s execution of the North Vietnamese stirred these opinions
and questions leading the public to ask if the war in Vietnam was worth fighting and
conclude that violence now held its place over the law (Herring, 241). After Tet, the
American public began to question the progress of the war in Vietnam and an end
was in sight. These questions were first roused and brought to the public s attention
by Walter Cronkite, who identified the war as a stalemate (Appy, 176). Such opinions

The Pros And Cons Of A Constitutional Republic
There is a common misconception that the United States is a Democracy , but the
technical term for the type of government that the U.S. is ruled under is a
Constitutional Republic . A Republic is simply a government where people whom
were elected by a larger body of citizens make the laws, while a Democracyis simply
a governmentwhere the citizens make laws directly. A constitution is simply a set of
laws that are above all, and everything after cannot contradict those laws. Thus, a
Constitutional Republicis simply a government who rules under a set of laws and the
government is elected by a larger body of citizens to make future laws. However, it is
not that simple. A constitutional government is a government where the rule of law

An example of this separation of powers comes from the U.S. government itself,
from which there are three branches of government, the legislative branch, the
judicial branch, and the executive branch, and within the legislative branch rests
two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives, and even deeper, there is
the armed populace, from which, in theory, the final check is to come from. These
separations of power, defined mostly by the written Constitution of the U.S., makes
it so that any person who legislates, will face opposition in the event of a power
grab, though it s worth noting that it s entirely possible for large groups to
overwhelm this system of checks and balances. In any case, this separation of powers
is necessary for a constitution, as it further enables a government to secure the natural
rights of person (in the way of not oppressing those

Survival in The Bean Trees
In 1859, Charles Darwin published his most famous work, On the Origin of the
Species by Means of Natural Selection (Encarta 96). This book explained Darwin s
theory of natural selection, a process not unlike separating the wheat from the chaff,
where the least fit are eliminated, and only the fittest survive. An extension of this
theory known as Social Darwinism emerged in the late 19th century. Social
Darwinists believed that people, like animals and plants, compete for survival and,
by extension, success in life (Encarta 96). Under this theory, the individuals who
acquire the power and wealth are deemed the fittest, while those of lower economic
and social levels are considered the least fit (Griffin ... Show more content on

Persuasive Essay On Becoming A Knight
A knight is a man who served his sovereign or lord as a mounted soldier in armor.
They were well trained fighters, knights were military retainers, often of humble
means, but defined by their military vocation and their ability rather than any
lineages ( Richard). They surfaced in the Middle Ages because it was a time when
Lords needed protections along with their territories. To become a knightwas not easy
there were many steps towards fulfilling knighthood. Not only did it take years of
training to become a knight, but it also took bravery, courtesy, and honor known as
chivalry and courtly love. A man without those qualities did not have what it takes to
play this role. Knights of the Middle Ageswere first and premier warriors who fought
from horseback, wore body covering armor, and used weapons such as swords and
daggers to fight and protect in battle. There were five steps to knighthood,
becoming a knight took years of training, during which a young man learned how
to fight, ride, and behave in proper, knightley manner (Corrick 29). The first step to
becoming a knight was having the right connections because it was very expensive
to buy all the equipment necessary in protecting himself on the battlefield. That
being said a knight usually came from a noble or wealthy family. The upbringing
is the second step, if a boy came from the right family and had the ambition to be a
knight by the age of seven he would have to learn all basic manners and what the

Becoming A Veterinarian Research Paper
It is no secret that social media is seen as an outlet, where we can post our innermost
thoughts and feelings, no matter how awful they are, and many times, without any
consequence. The anonymity of social media bolsters some people to post rants,
hate speech, and other offensive comments that they would almost certainly never

have witnessed people expressing such feelings on social media. However, there was
one occasion in particular that has always, and will always, stick with me.

Therefore, it is my ultimate dream to become a veterinarian. This career often sees
many different types of situations. Sometimes, it may be blissful and enjoyable,
like when you save an abused dog from potentially dying. Other times it can be
heartbreaking and unpleasant. There is no simple rule for when to express
feelings. Instead, we must exercise judgment. We have an ethical obligation to
make thoughtful choices about whether, when, and how to express our emotions.
At times, being a veterinarian, I may want to grieve with a family over the loss of
their pet or even anger if I am unable to help an animal in need. However,
displaying such emotions would be extremely inappropriate and unprofessional
while simultaneously violating professional norms. Instead of revealing the
emotions described above, a veterinarian should exhibit strength and courage. They
should be able to remain positive during even the bleakest times. For example, if I
were to discover that one of my client s pets had an incurable type of cancer and
would require euthanasia, I would want to remain optimistic, while providing
comfort to the family and the pet during such a hard time. If the family senses my
sadness or anger, they are more inclined to feel the same way as me. With that
being said, if I present a positive, relaxed mood, the family would be more slanted
towards those feelings. Although I would be saddened by an event such as this, it
would be quite unprofessional for me to do break into tears, despite my sadness.
Everyone will have to deal with negative emotions during their career, at some point
or another, and learning how to cope with these feelings and which are appropriate to
express is crucial to our
Online Purchase Behavior Of Consumers
Introduction
This chapter describes in detail the type of research method adopted, how the data
was collected, purpose of data collection and how this data will be analyzed to derive
conclusive results. In the end ethical issues have been discussed. The study aimed to
understand the online purchase behavior of consumers in India. The factors leading
to an increase in online shopping, current trends in the online retail market and to
identify the demographic factors which influence the online purchase. The literature
review highlighted and identified important factors which influence behavior and
attitude of online consumers. These factors were considered and implemented while
designing the questionnaire.
Methodology
This research consists of both primary and secondary data. The secondary data was
collected from various sources such as academic journal, e books, corporate annual
report and library sources related to the research topic, online purchase behavior of
consumers. The primary data was collected by using the quantitative research method.
This method involves usage of numbers and statistical techniques to measure and
identify underlying patterns. Researcher s personal involvement is required and the
results obtained can be used by other studying the same field (King et al., 1994).
Quantitative methods assume that behavioral patterns can be described with the help
of objective facts and therefore holds a positivist position (Firestone, 1987). Factor

Somalia range from piracy, trade, humanitarian issues, broader regional stability and

When all is said in done, the persona is the veil that each one puts on before one

Best case scenario, persona is simply a decent impression one wishes to present as

Body Shop Essay
Why would a company like the Body Shop want to forecast its financial statements?
Forecasting a firm s financial statements can help both financial managers and general
managers. Pro forma statements help the financial manager plan the firm s financial
needs. With an estimate of future income statement and balance sheet accounts, a
manager can tell how much financing might be needed, and when it might be needed.
Therefore, a company like the Body Shop can use forecasted financial statements to
estimate how much future external debt financing the company needs.

Tiberius Claudius Nero was the second emperor of the Roman Empire, successor
of Augustus. Born the 16th of November 42 BC in the wonderful city of Rome.
Tiberius was the son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla. He was also the

Q: Examine the effect of the epistolary form of writing throughout the novel
Frankenstein. Do you think the epistolary novel form of writing are an effective form
of telling the story? How does the epistolary form affect plot development and
character development?
Mary Shelly, the author of the novel Frankenstein, writes Frankenstein in epistolary
form which is an effective way of integrating the reader into the story, introducing
writer bias [character development], and furthering the theme of communication.
The epistolary form of writing allows the reader to feel as if they are receiving an
actual account of the story. This type of writing makes the reader feel as if the
character is writing to them. The plot seems more realistic and ... Show more content

Walton s final decision to turn back after listening to his crew also mitigates the
harshness of Victor Frankenstein s story.
The epistolary structure of the novel and the subsequent use of multiple narrators
forces the reader to judge for themselves what is true and what is dramatized from
the letters. Due to the story being retold from the point of view of Victor the reader is
more likely to understand why Victor and Walton deem the monster a malevolent and
insensitive brute.
(Favert 1) We must begin to read Frankenstein more as a well wrought baggy
monster of correspondences, and less as a singular, alien phenomenon. If we read
it as an interactive combination of tales, rather than one linear narrative, we can
refrain from casting the novelist into the narrow role of a young girl with so very
hideous an idea. Frankenstein is Mary Shelley s novel; it is no more her story than
Walton s, Victor s or the monster s. Within the text, the various narrators slide from
their own stories into the histories of others, and with each movement, we are asked
to extend our willing suspension of disbelief. As the novel multiplies its story tellers
and listeners, it renews the problem of narrative authority. Whose story do we
believe? the novel defuses such a question. The fantastic nature of the stories preclude
rational explanation or judgment, and we do not,
Emily Dickinson Influences
In the mid nineteenth century, many new poets were writing and publishing their
works. Poets were influenced when Romanticism was the trend of the day in
America. Emily Dickinson differed, her poetry was heavily influenced by the
Metaphysical poets of the seventeenth century England. Dickinson suffered from
depression. Her poems not only reflected her feelings, but everyday subjects such as
her dreams. Dickinson draws large amount of inspiration from aspects of her life such
as the people she met.
Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. The people
that were part of her life were an enormous impact on her poetry. Her parents were
Edward Dickinson and Emily Norcross. Her mother suffered a long term illness and
needed constant care from her daughters. Dickinson s father attended Yale College
until Junior year, which he went to Amherst College. Edward became Amherst s
chief citizen and a successful lawyer, this gave his children the opportunity to meet
many prominent visitors. Dickinson s older brother was William Austin and she
also had a younger amicable sister named Lavinia Norcross, she was her longtime
companion and advocate of her work after her death, ( Dickinson, Emily ). Leonard

An Voluntary Control Over More Automatic Brain Systems
Pedretti, Pendleton Schultz Krohn (2006) define attention as being this voluntary
control over more automatic brain systems to effectively select and manipulate
sensory or stored information briefly or for sustained periods. One component of
attention is this term sustained attention , which is the ability to consistently engage
in an activity over time without loosing concentration (Willard Spackman, 2014).
Willard Spackman express that repetitive and predictable activities place less
demands on sustained attention. Attention process training (APT) is a computerized
training program that provides practice in five types of attention: focused,
sustained, selective, alternating and divided (Park, Proulx Towers, 1999). Several
research studies have concluded that specific components of attention need specific
training and that with sufficient training it is possible to improve aspects of
attention and other cognitive functions (Park et al, 1999; Sohlberg, McLaughlin,

The Theory Of Substance Dependention
This essay consists of information concerning substance dependence. It outlines what
substance dependence is all about, which includes its symptoms, a theory to explain
the phenomena and the South African perspective of the disorder. Substance
Dependence is a behavioral and physiological phenomenon which happens after a
person has been practicing substance use over a long period of time and the
individual does this repeatedly (Austin, Botha, Du Plessis, Du Plessis, Jordaan, Lake,
Moletsane, Nel, Pillay, Ure, Visser, Von Krosigk, Vorster, 2013). People who use
these substances have difficulty controlling the amounts they consume and tend to
use the substance excessively; the person has a continued desire to use the substance.
They tend to crave the substance therefore causing a difficulty in controlling the use
of the substance. Substance dependence disorders are more severe forms of
Substance abuse disorders and involves a physiological dependence on the substance
(Coleman, Butcher Carson,1984,Pg. 397). Substance dependence can occur at any
age but happens to be most common in adolescence and young adulthood, leaving
teenagers more prone to being affected by it (Coleman, Butcher Carson, 1984, Pg.
419).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Substances that affect this functioning include Alcohol, heroin, marijuana and
barbiturates (White Watt, 1973) .Some of these drugs are legal while others such as
heroin remain illegal. The intoxicating effect of substances like alcohol and tobacco
is so powerful as to defy rational control. Substance dependence has a long history
and in recent years has raised more of a social problem because there is an increase
in the convenient availability of such substances (White Watt, 1973, Pg.
Advantages Of Rudiments Of The SEO Reseller Program
Rudiments of the SEO Reseller Program What is website improvement? What are the
advantages of the SEO administrations? Indeed, these are only a couple of
fundamental inquiries asked on numerous occasions by every new website admin. Be
that as it may, would you say you are mindful about the SEO Reseller program? A
standout amongst the most obscure territories of the business, it is the system of
offering SEO administrations gave by different organizations to clients with the end
goal of acquiring cash. An exceptionally uncommon cash making occupation in the
business, the principle thought behind the SEO affiliate program incredibly looks
like the idea of a business operators advancing the administrations of a SEO
organization. Notwithstanding, the project is by all accounts somewhat not the same
as the fundamental advancement procedures. It is not precisely a simple assignment
to draw customers and persuade them about the achievement of the SEO
administrations gave by a second organization. It is not as simple as offering
flapjacks to clients. You should be specific and proficient about the SEO business, the
different SEO techniques, administrations, web improvement, and so on. Without

World War 2 essay (Canada)
During the course of the Second World War, Canada evolved into a powerful,
resourceful nation that was needed by the Allies. Canada contributed significantly to
the Allied war effort during World War II where they fought on land, water and air
and assisted indirectly from the home front. On land, they fought in numerous battles
and campaigns such as D Day, Hong Kong, and the Italian campaign. However, they
were also strong and resourceful when it came to air and naval forces in battle. But
even outside of battle, Canadawas still able to make a contribution through its
civilians. Some of Canada s greatest challenges and major contributions on land

These battles fought by Canadians on water and in the air were significant
contributions to the Allied air and naval forces.
Canada s contribution in the Allied war effort did not only come from Canadian
soldiers, but also from regular, everyday citizens who never saw battle, such as
those involved in the Canadian war industry, BCATP, and the Corps of Canadian
Firefighters. The Canadian industry supplied a great deal of war materials for the
Allies, producing more than 800,000 military transport vehicles, 50,000 tanks, 40,000
field, naval, and anti aircraft guns, and 1,700,000 small arms. 6 Canada s strong war
industry was required to produce as much ammunition, weapons, and vehicles as they
could in order to defeat Germany, who had great industrial power at the time. In 1939,
Canada became the home for major recruiting and training for pilots during the
Second World War in an organization called the British Commonwealth Air Training
Plan. Throughout the war, Canada had graduated 131,533 airmen, including pilots,
navigators, bomb aimers, wireless operators, air gunners and flight engineers.7 These
men would later become involved in the war in the air, and their numbers would
greatly contribute to the Allied air superiority. During the Battle of Britain, German
air forces relentlessly bombarded London and
The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William
Shakespeare
INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes
in world literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common
concepts within a story. The author creates characters who are the tempter (usually
the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the protagonist.) The characters within the
plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The author may also
include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being
the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William
Shakespeare incorporated these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of
Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello:
The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film adaptations of
directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and
Oliver Parker (Othello 1995.)
THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil
unless there is someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip
Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s Third New International Dictionary of the English
Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the state of being tempted to do evil
(Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three predominant
pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is
the tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted.
Finally, in Hamlet, the

acceptance for this once harmful drug is increasing. There are twenty eight states

Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph...
This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman
named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced
into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely
factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a
tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the
window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition,
Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key
details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s
Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a
national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of
that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He
subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who
Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter
Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to
advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases
extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held
against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive
result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex
trafficking laws passed in Illinois. Over a short period of
Isis As The Mother Goddess
The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the
blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and
oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society.
However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the
archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through
giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the
gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of
years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the
once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving
humiliation for the goddess involved.
In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living
things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they
relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring
goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of
Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and
wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains,
proving her devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from
other gods and goddesses, she is the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take
interest in reviving the god of Upper and Lower
Industrial Worker Dbq
By 1797, there were very few regulations in place for the average industrial worker.
However, pamphlets were often distributed to portray working conditions as
adequate, they included statistics of inhabitants, special regulations, number of
deaths, and overall conditions (document 5). Although working conditions varied and
a worker s experience was due to their specific circumstance; these statistics were not
the official numbers and the Society for Bettering the Condition and Increasing the
Comforts of the Poor may have been biased in their effort to prove conditions
acceptable. The minimal regulation and the minor attention to the actual working
conditions left the average industrial worker without a voice and the power to better
their employment
Speech About The Story Fearless
Good Morning, I am a fellow student of ELA 8 period 7 8. In this class we had read
the story fearless where it is about a girl who sacrifices her life for the good of the
girls in the institute. As a well known fact, people who do stand up for what they
believe in can determine the future values of the next generation. Those people
also bring hope to others that are hopeless. Hope is a feeling of expectation and
desire for a certain thing to happen. Literature can help us define the greater good
by creating stories that relate, set examples and show how us as a person can make
big differences in other people s life too. Throughout history there has been many
examples of people who had created a major change to our historical timeline. For
example Around the timewhere polish wanted to become independent from Germany
I man named Maximilian Kolbewas born. His parents were great examples for them
fighting at the time where the attack of polish took place. Just a short period of
time after that world war 2 broke out. Maximilian at the time became a monk. As
seemed to be an ordinary person he helped hide the jews from the nazi empire to
allow them to safely cross the border. A Polish Franciscan priest. During the Polish
occupation, he was arrested twice by the Nazis but continued to offer shelter to Jews
and Polish refugees. In 1941, he was sent to Auschwitz concentration camp, where he
volunteered to take the place of a man condemned to death, showing great courage,

Judging Abercombie Fitch for Their Hiring Practices Essay
Looks and first impressions are key points for many things in our lifes. Now a days
people are deep into fashion and everything is about looking presentable and well.
This has made clothing companies compete even more day by day and do
everything in their power to attract more people. To bring more people to the
bussiness and sell as much as they can they have been using a method of
prioritizing and aiming to certain group of poeple to sell to. This has lead
companies such as Abercombie Fitch to be seen as a store with a high profile of
racismand discrimination. Aiming to a natural classic amarican style and to hiring
only certain type of people has caused them to be sued multiple times. Abercombie
Fitch is a private company and there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the constitution the company discriminates and excludes a group of
people but at the same time this is a private company and it should be their choice
who they hire or not. In my personal opinion Abercombie Fitch should not be
judged or sued. Companies across the world do exactly the same thing. I mean, I
live in Los Angeles where montly the population is mexican. Some mexicans like
dressing up with boots and big belts, they have a certain look which now people
call Paisa Look . When I go to the mall there are many paisa stores where the people
who work there obviously look mexican and dress up with the look they sell. When
I say mexican looking, I mean dark skined, mustache, the boots, the belts, the Ed
Hardy things, the hats and of course their music. This exact same thing happens in
Abercombie Fitch. The only difference is that caucasians are not the minority in this
country. I find very hypocritical the fact that people judge Abercombie, Hollister,
Express and other stores in that range for who they hire. This is a duble standard and
very unfair way of looking at things. In the article Going for the look, but risking
discrimination by Steven Greenhouse; Tom Lenox, Abercombie s communicatons
director said: Brand representatives are embassadors to the brand. We want to hire
brand representatives that will represent the abercombie Fitch

My First Class Ever At Byu
In the Brigham Young University Winter 2014 semester, I timidly stepped through
the doors of the Joseph Smith Building to begin my first class ever at BYU. Just
having returned from my mission, I was more than ready to take on any challenge
that was in my way of scholastic achievement. I was in the pre contemplation stage of
the Stages of Change, and felt no great need to change any of my study habits. As the
semester went on, I began to realize the challenge that University presented to me on
an intellectual level. Scrambling to cope with this unexpected challenge, I committed
to my scholastic endeavors by throwing vast amounts of time into my studies. At this
point I graduated to the contemplation stage, as I began to look for solutions to my
agony and largely lacking scholastic achievement. My most wasteful and time
consuming method of study was rote memorization, which has now become basis for
the study habit I wish to change. I have initiated this process through planning and
isolating what to change, as well as refining the actual method of how I was changing.
The study habit I have endeavored to change is one that is manifested in every facet
of the human experience. Memory is a huge portion of every activity we undertake
in life, as vastly different consequences follow if our memories are honed or inferior.
As a result I felt the great urgency, accompanied with an impending need, to hone my
memory and render it fully functional. The uses of memory are innumerable. As
The Establishment Of The Original Thirteen British
Colonies
The establishment of the original thirteen British colonies was not the first time
that foreigners had reached the present day powerhouse of a country, which is the
United States of America. One example of Europeans in North America before the
colonists was the French fur traders had frequently traded with the Native
Americans. However, when the settlers arrived in the swamp studded marshes of
James Town, which was the first colony, they must had been upset, as they were
primarily after valuable minerals: gold, silver, as Britain s economic system, at
the time, was mercantilism in which the main goal was to increase a nation s
wealth by regulating all of the nation s commercial interests. Before the settlers
arrived in the New World, French had traded some with the Indians. In A Micmac
Indian Replies to the French, the French called the Native Americans home a little
hell , a statement that the Micmac Indians didn t find too tasteful the Micmac
Indian leader then asked why the French would leave their paradise, and risk their
lives to reach a little hell . This reply from the Indian leader shows a few things
first, the Indians weren t too impressed with the customs of the French, second the
Indians were knowledgeable of how important, as well as costly, their homeland was
to the Europeans and what goods it contained. Lucky for the settlers, one of their
other interests was in the new world in plenty land. One of the reasons the Europeans
needed land so badly was that
Electric Cars Essay
You shower, brush your teeth, turn off the lights and plug in your...car. This seems
like an estranged concept but will be or at least should be a reality for most
motorists. Electric cars are a better means of transportation than gasoline powered
cars, due to the fact that they save you money in multiple ways, help combat global
warming and boost a country s economy.
To begin with, electric cars are better for the planet. They decrease the emission of
greenhouse gases and increase air quality. Initially, the emissions free quality of EVs
also stems from the design of the motor. It is powered by a process called induction
which uses electric and magnetic forces to make the motor spin. This way there is no
combustion reaction that would

Also, the state of Colorado offers $6,000 worth of tax credit for the owner of a new
EV (Gorzelany). It is said that EVs are often more expensive but considering savings
made from maintenance, energy and compensation expenses; an EV is a good
investment. The two main points discussed will create an interest and incentive to
allow the following point to become reality.
At last, the point that will most likely spur people to change their mode of
transportation is that EVs help countries economies. The need for the manufacture
of electric cars and the installment of a charging infrastructure will create jobs. In
response to critics who say that petrol factory will be left jobless, that is not the
case because these workers will often be the same ones who will work on EVs; these
automotive industry workers have the necessary skills to build all kinds of vehicles
regardless of a change in the drivetrain. Not only will the manufacturing require a
large workforce but also the construction, maintenance, and operation of charging
stations: Recent electric vehicle penetration brings the necessity of a high number of
charging stations (YAGCITEKIN, UZUNOGLU, and KARAKAS).
All in all, there is insurmountable evidence pointing to the idea that electric vehicles
are the superior alternative to petrol vehicles and that they should be peoples new
form of transport. Car

Comparing The Digestive Tract And System
The digestive tract and system is a complex process where each section has its own
enzymes to be produced in a specific order and relies on the one being completed to
carry out the next.
The first cavity is the mouth, where food digestion begins with the chewing of
food into smaller and manageable molecules (mastication). The first digestive
enzyme is also released here in the form of salivary amylase which begins the
breakdown of starch. It is the only point at which this enzyme will be released, so if
it is blocked, starchy products will not be broken down correctly.
Once food leaves the mouth, it travels down the oesophagus and into the second
cavity the stomach. Here digestives enzymes are released such as hydrochloric acid
and gastric

Essay My Vacation. How I spent my summer vacation essay in English MY SUMMER VACATION ...

  • 1. Essay My Vacation Crafting an essay about my vacation may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but once you delve into the process, you quickly realize the challenges that lie ahead. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of content but in the abundance of experiences to choose from. Every vacation is a mosaic of emotions, sights, and moments that beg to be woven into a narrative. The challenge then becomes the art of selection – deciding which anecdotes to include, which details to highlight, and which sentiments to convey. Moreover, conveying the essence of the vacation requires striking a delicate balance between personal reflection and engaging storytelling. It's not merely about listing the places visited and activities undertaken; it's about encapsulating the spirit of the journey, the emotions felt, and the lessons learned. One must navigate through the plethora of memories, selecting those that best exemplify the transformative nature of the vacation. The intricacy of such an essay lies in avoiding clichГ©s and steering clear of banal descriptions. It's about finding a unique angle, a fresh perspective that sets the narrative apart from the myriad other vacation essays. The challenge is to transport the reader into the shoes of the narrator, allowing them to vicariously experience the joy, the surprises, and even the occasional setbacks that colored the vacation. The struggle is not only with the selection of content but also with the structure and coherence of the essay. How does one seamlessly transition from one segment of the vacation to another? How does one maintain a sense of continuity while ensuring each paragraph contributes meaningfully to the overall narrative? These are the questions that make the writing process both intellectually stimulating and demanding. In essence, the difficulty in writing an essay about my vacation lies in the meticulous craftsmanship it demands. It's an exercise in selecting, shaping, and presenting personal experiences in a way that resonates with a broader audience. And as the writer grapples with these challenges, the final product emerges as a testament to the artistry involved in translating a vacation into words. For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, there are resources available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where skilled writers can help bring your vacation experiences to life in a compelling and personalized narrative. Power In Relationships It takes two people at minimum to form a conversation, start a relationship romantic or not, and it takes one person in that relationship to form power over the other one. Power is given off differently whether the other person has expertise, or past experiences in that specific situation.Control is in every relationship whether it is known to both people or not,I have experienced this first hand in every relationship I have encountered and some of them I have established that I held the power role. The word power sounds like it can be negative or positive depending on who is giving the power or who holds the power role. The coaches have expertise in football, not injuries. the trainers are in grad school with no degree but have the power of expertise in the subject of injuries but don t have the degree to make them credible in every injury. The broken ankle has not been cured, and my friend says he will listen to what the coaches say even if it doesn t get better because he has that level of trust given by the coach. Whether he should get the ankle looked at by someone with a degree is beside the point, the trust between the coach, the trainer, and the player is that the coaches and trainer hold a level of expertise that not even a doctor can be more

However, over the next 5 years the center of our city will be focusing on building its reputation as a residential neighborhood. Houston has seen a major revitalization of the areas inside of the 610 loop, from the Heights, to Montrose, and Midtown. Many new high rises have been built in these up and coming neighborhoods over the last decade, resulting in an influx of residential living that has slowly crept toward downtown, but has never quite reached into the limits of the downtown area. Mostly attracting young urban professionals, empty nesters and small families, Downtown Houston is hoping to provide more housing options for just about any Houstonian interested in calling the area home. To show it means business, the city s Downtown s Living Initiative is going strong, offering $15,000 per unit in tax rebates developers who commit to building homes or undertake multifamily living projects. • 6. Modern And Contemporary Arts Of Africa Tessa Giller 619194 Modern and Contemporary Arts of Africa Essay Word count: African art and the politics of identity in the twenty first century. Identity is never an a priori, nor a finished product; it is only ever the problematic process of access to an image of totality H. Bhahba (1994:50) Introduction. The second half of the twentieth century saw the liberation of the African continent from colonial rule, a time that occasioned the rise of new pride in and new searches for definitions of identities released from the colonial confines. In the twentieth century the politics of identity became salient in discourses, political, social, and cultural, on Africa. The idea of the diaspora was central to new conceptions on African art, often leading to the exclusion of artist residing in Africa in preference of those living in the nomadic condition. The forefront of Africa in modernity was thus not seen as residing in Africa itself but in those that found themselves in the realms of the hegemonic modernity of the West. Nevertheless independence from colonial rule saw a surge in self defining nationalisms based on an ideal form of African nation and identity. Ways of being and producing African art were prescribed to artists, though this does not mean that individual agency was lost. As Atkinson states on post Apartheid South Africa: it is clear that the stakes have shifted, and the country s reintegration into international art , culture, and politics, has

A Look into Calvin Klein’s Advertisements Essays A Look into Calvin Klein s Advertisements As a seductive young man looks into a camera a raspy voice, off camera, whispers, You got a real nice look. How old are you? Are you strong? You think you could rip that shirt off? That s a real nice body. You work out? I can tell. No, it s not straight out of a steamy romance novel, though it could be. This is just one example of how provocative Calvin Klein s advertisements have been. Although the ads boosted sales for the Calvin Klein empire, it angered many parents, religious groups, and even the media over its message, its image, and its legality. There is no doubt the ads are in bad taste, but in advertising today, sex sells. Advertising is all based on the way a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And that their advertising explodes on the media scene. Calvin Klein eventually dropped the $6 million dollar campaign after the advertisements were accused of violating child pornography laws. On September 8 the Justice Department began looking into claims that the ads used young models posed in a provocative manner. A Calvin Klein spokeswoman stated that only one of the models used in their ads was under the age of 18. The fifteen year old girl that was in his ads was Bijou Phillips, whose mother was aware of the ad and was proud of her daughter. If the parents of the teen models allowed their children to pose for the advertisements, who are we to blame the CK company for using them. Who are we to look down on Calvin Klein s ads when you can watch any show on prime time TV and see much worse than what the ads portrayed? Who are we to suggest that the ads are suggestive when all we know is that, in advertising, sex sells and sells big? Isn t Calvin Klein just giving the public what it wants? Calvin Klein has publicly stated that the misunderstood ads had been intended to convey the spirit, independence, and inner worth of today s young people. Personally, I do not really buy that argument. Is he saying that the teenagers today are always thinking about it, doing it, or discussing it. But, at the same time, I don t think the public should automatically label him or his company as perverts for using sex to sell

It starts when he is a little child enjoying life and reading a lot. His joy does not last as he is plagued by misery when his sister Elizabeth gets sick and grows very ill and comes close to death, but is miraculously saved by their mother. Then days later they watch their mother die by the same disease his sister had. This only marks the beginning of his misery. He then goes to college and creates a horrible monster which goes and kills his brother, Justine :a loved family servant:, his friend, and his wife. He is deeply depressed by all of this and is stricken on revenge to kill the monster and be at peace. The story closes with Frankenstein dying and the monster awaiting his death in the frozen tundra. In this story Frankenstein s character develops throughout the story Three main character traits Frankenstein has is dedicated, depressed, and cautiousness. Frankenstein is dedicated when coming to his projects. He committed years to his work when creating his first monster. He was working so hard he forgot he needed rest and food sometimes. It may seem negative but if you gave Frankenstein a task he would complete it. When he was a child he devoted himself to reading about the works of earlier scientist But here were books, and here were men who had penetrated deeper and knew more. I took their word for all that
  • 9. Hamlet Acts Morally, Harms Others by his Actions, and... Hamlet is Shakespeare s most famous work of tragedy. Throughout the play the title character, Hamlet, tends to seek revenge for his father s death. Shakespeare achieved his work in Hamlet through his brilliant depiction of the hero s struggle with two opposing forces that hunt Hamlet throughout the play: moral integrity and the need to avenge his father s murder. When Hamlet sets his mind to revenge his fathers death, he is faced with many challenges that delay him from committing murder to his uncle Claudius, who killed Hamlets father, the former king. During this delay, he harms others with his actions by acting irrationally, threatening Gertrude, his mother, and by killing Polonius which led into the madness and death of Ophelia.... (Act 3.3.74 79) Here, Hamlet shows despite his need to revenge for his father, he is held back from his constant thought of his actions as well as his moral considerations. It s been clearly stated that Hamlet has a strong sense of heaven and hell; that he won t kill his uncle while praying, because he thinks he might go to heaven. Hamlet himself doesn t want to kill his uncle without being assured that he is guilty. This is why, by the end of the play, Claudius death is something we applaud, regretting only that he was not killed sooner. The reason of this delay is because of Hamlets moral triumph. His morality often keeps him from acting; it makes him mull around in his uncertainty and anxiety, instead of just acting and bringing his struggle to an end. Although Hamlet has thoughts on the moral consequences of revenge, which is the cause of the delay to gain vengeance for his father, he deceives others by his irritating actions. After threatening the queen in her bedroom, telling her that she is not leaving the room until he knows that she is innocent from his fathers death. Come, come, and sit you down; you shall not budge: You go not, till I set you up a glass Where you may see the inmost part of you. (Act 3.4.19 21) As Hamlet was threatening her, he hears a voice behind the

  • 11. Princess Of Mars In the novel A Princess of Mars, I will be responding to Burroughs s characterization of the green Martians in the novel A Princess of Mars which caught my interest for some reason. John Carter; the hero in this story, first meets these enormously tall green creatures when he first awakens on Mars after being transported there from the cave. The green Martians are fifteen feet tall and have six legs; two arms and two legs. John Carter calls them, hideous little monsters (15). Burroughs s describes them with scrawny bodies and long necks. As Burroughs says in the novel, There was no hair on their bodies, which were of a very light yellowish green color. In the adults, as I was to learn quite soon, this color deepens to an olive green

While sleep deepens, the amount of slow oscillations increases leading to stages 3 and 4 sleep, or slow wave sleep (SWS). In carnivores such as cats or dogs, NREM is subdivided into light and deep SWS; and in rats or mice only one NREM stage is usually defined. This categorization of sleep stages is however somehow arbitrary. All through the night, the NREM and REM sleep periods alternate following an ultradian cycle, SWS invariably preceding REM sleep in healthy subjects. In humans, the ultradian cycle is about 90В±100 min, but it is important to note that SWS is most abundant during the first half of the night (up to 80% of the sleep time), while in the second half of the night, the proportion of REM... Sleep is composed of two prominent stages, namely REM sleep and NREM sleep, the latter being subdivided into SWS and Stage 2 sleep in humans. These stages of sleep differ by many factors including their temporal distribution and regulation, the pattern of neuronal activity, the specific neurotransmitter and neurochemical changes, and regional brain activity. Up to now, four experimental approaches have been used to test the hypothesis of the processing of memory traces during sleep: (1) the effects of post training sleep deprivation on memory consolidation, (2) the effects of learning on post training sleep, (3) the effects of within sleep stimulation on the sleep pattern and overnight memories, and (4) the re expression of behavior specific neural patterns during post training sleep. These studies, which we review here, actually suggest that REM and NREM sleep stages could have memory related functions. On this basis, not all types of memories seem to rely on the same stage of sleep for

According to its annual report, this company is exposed to risk from movements in foreign currency exchange rates, interest rate and market prices. The foreign exchange risks come from transactions and translations of foreign operations in Swiss Francs (CHF). The interest rate risk faces the borrowings at fixed and variable rates. The market price risk comes from commodity price and equity price. The former arises from world commodity market for the supplies of coffee, cocoa beans, sugar and others, the latter instead arises from the fluctuations of the prices of investments held (NestlГ© annual reports, 2015). Thus, financial derivatives instruments are used by this multinational corporation in order to hedge these risks. Moreover, because of the huge worldwide extension of the corporation, which operates in 194 countries, the use of foreign currency derivatives to minimize the earnings volatility would be the subject of later analysis. The report will focus on how NestlГ© uses futures and option contracts to hedge its exposure to currency risk, centering our attention in NestlГ© Home Currency, the Swiss Franc in relation to the US Dollar (USD/CHF). 2.Currency risk: USD/CHF The dollar has shown signs of weakness in the past few years. • 14. The Exciting yet Stressful Career of Computer Programming How could you be reading this paper right now without programs like Windows and Word that this document was made on? Technology is a fundamental part of our everyday lives, meaning the people who program computers have significant jobs. Although it is essential that computers are built from scratch, people are needed to transform these computers from complex machines that users need a college diploma to the user friendly interfaces we see today. In order to become and remain a computer programmer, a student could go to college and obtain a degree or self teach himself. Computer programming is a difficult yet rewarding career. Programmers use different programming languages in their day to day lives; similar to foreign languages they are similar in some ways but different in others. Three languages commonly used by computer programmers are Visual Basic, C++, and Java ( Major: Computer Programming, General ). Other languages include SQL, HTML, and .NET (Juliano, Jim). Programming can even be done as a hobby instead of a career (Reeves and Kent). People can release their work as open source software; many of these open source software such as Apache HTTPD, WordPress, and PHP run millions of websites across the world. Programming is a love it or hate it occupation (Reeves and Kent). A programmer has to have passion for programming in order to be successful; one cannot simply choose programming as a job unless they truly enjoy it. Programmers enjoy their jobs because
  • 15. African Slave Trade In The 1600s The slave trade in the North American colonies began to grow in the 1600s. The African slave trade sourced their slaves from many different West African villages and countries. The business of slavery was a growing and profitable field, not only for the slavers, but also for the slaveholders. With the decrease of indentured servants, settlers in the English colonies looked for a new source of labor to satisfy their growing labor demands. The next source was Africa. By the 1690s slaves outnumbered indentured servants four to one (45). Europeans largely disregarded the ethical dilemma posed by slaverydue to the European view of Africans and their culture as uncivilized, foreign, and heathen (44). • 16. Kant s Categorical Imperative Kant s theory of ethics, known as the categorical imperative, is an absolutist theory. This means that if something is wrong then it is always wrong. For example, if suicide is wrong then it is still wrong even if an elderly person at the end of their life is asking for assisted suicide. Kant s theory is also deontological which means that it is linked to the moralityof duty. We all have a duty and that is to obey the categorical imperative. An action can only be correct if we do it out of duty. The categorical imperative has three formulations. The first formulation is to always act so that you can consistently will that the maxim of your action become a universal moral law for all humankind. This means that one should act upon a maxim... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the action can be universalized she is being used as a means to an end (i.e. she is being used to support the homeless). If she would have paid attention to what I said and came to her own judgement of wanting to help the homeless because it will help others, the action would be moral. The third and final formulation is the kingdom of ends. Kant states the following conclusion Therefore, every rational being must so act as if he were through his maxim always a legislating member in the universal kingdom of ends. Simply put, exceptions cannot be made for certain individuals. To conclude, I would have to say that this theory is not plausible in today s world. The Categorical Imperative is too rigid to be a workable system it just doesn t take into account the complexity of human beings and their relationships. It does remind me, somewhat, of the guiding principles of Christianity. The Bible states So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Granted, we should all strive to do the right thing in every situation sometimes people lie to spare someone s feelings or steal food to curb starvation. I would like to entertain this theory as possible; however, I cannot see it as a

Land Art History When it emerged in the sixties among the crush of several other art movements (Pop Art, Minimalism, among others) Land Art came to be an anti gallery artistic offshoot that straddled the domain between architecture and sculpture. It had no manifestos nor schools nor leaders and it was not quite a movement; the artists who were involved with it were also involved in other types of arts. Land artwas labelled as modern sculpture but its versatility and introduction of new concepts and visual materials made it difficult to ascribe it to one field or term. Situated nearby on the edge of the shore and into the water is the Broken Circle; its site was actually a functioning sand and gravel quarry which was filled with green water. Smithson played with the negative and positive space in such a way that the broken circle whose alternating arms are shaped with white and yellow sand, recalls the Chinese Yin Yang symbol. In the middle of the positive space half circle sits a boulder and this is yet again another allusion to monumental works of the past, this one appropriately native to Dutch lands. Yet the center boulder in fact significantly expands the associative levels of this work because it offers a direct tie to prehistory. . . . Suddenly out of nowhere, one of them whips out a bin of plastic figures, each one was colorful and interesting to look at. What are these? I asked him, picking up a blue figure. He looked at me like I was crazy, you don t know what pokemon is? Boy are you stupid Being a 7 year old, I was hurt, and I wondered, what was pokemon, and why was it so important to my friends? 3 years later I stumbled across something in Target that intrigued me, something called the Pokemon Trading Card Game. • 19. Analysis Of The Poem The I Love ! Free As The Mountain... The lines are spoken following an extended lamentation in Plate 6 by Oothoon in which she ascribes the origins of joy to infancy. Thus, it is over the course of one s lifetime and under the influence of societal reason (personified in the form of Urizen) that joy and happiness are subjugated and desecrated. Indeed, this accursed thing is taught or learned by Theotormon rather than intrinsic in his nature (7.13). This is important to note because out of this perverted perspective comes the misunderstanding of lovethat Oothoon delineates in my chosen passage. Within the first two lines, she separates her own version of love with that of her tormented lover. Hers is a happy Love! free as the mountain wind! (7.16). Like the wind imagery she invokes, it cannot be bottled up; it is clear, beautiful, and seemingly endless. The love of Theotormon and consequently that of society at large is, in contrast, restricted. It spin[s] a web of age around him, grey and hoary! dark! (7.19). According to the OED, hoary indicates hairy growth with age. Blake thus presents the image of a man bound tightly by his misinterpreted and misdirected love, and growing old, grey, and bearded overtime. The web is constructed of age and this, along with the use of the word hoary and its temporal reference, implies that Theotormon is restricted by time as well. Perhaps what Blake is indicating here is that the restrictive force of societies conception of love has been built over

The Politics And Last National Security Essay Arms Trade, Weapons Sales, Armament Sales are just few terms used for the manufacture and sale or trade of devices to protect a country, attack another and quite possibly benefit economically, or politically on a global scale. Countries, entities, factions, make, sell, and give things of destruction to others. This is a reality. The intent of this paper is to provide information that individuals can use to determine the necessity. The economics, the politics and last the National Securityare the three main discussion points. History History of Arms Trade, Weapons Trade or the trade any of items necessary to protect, feed or conquer dates back to the dawn of time. Scholars note that arms trade or weapons trade could be traced back 300,000 years (Thieme). As humans evolved and interacted with each other, scholars speculate that the trade of many things occurred. The trade would include stories, knowledge, which can be considered intangibles, then the tangibles, seeds for food, things to make tools, how to make a shelter, weapons for protection and survival. The tactical victory that the United States and South Vietnam achieved during the Tet Offensive turned into a defeat because of how the media in America covered the events of the Tet Offensive. While, surprised during the early stages of the Tet Offensive the United States and South Vietnamese forces were able to regroup quickly and force the North Vietnamese back from the positions and cities that they had taken like Hue (Herring, 239). In the aftermath of the Tet Offensive, much of the news report was left in disbelief and confusion on what had happened. Such reports that displayed news of North Vietnamese forces breaking into the embassy in Saigon and televised broadcasts of the heavy fighting taking placed left the public with a question of whether the United States was winning the war in Vietnam(Herring, 240 241). Such reports and photos of the fighting caused the Homefront in America to question Johnson and Westmorland s tactics in Vietnam. Photos like the South Vietnamese police officer s execution of the North Vietnamese stirred these opinions and questions leading the public to ask if the war in Vietnam was worth fighting and conclude that violence now held its place over the law (Herring, 241). An extension of this theory known as Social Darwinism emerged in the late 19th century. They were well trained fighters, knights were military retainers, often of humble means, but defined by their military vocation and their ability rather than any lineages ( Richard). They surfaced in the Middle Ages because it was a time when Lords needed protections along with their territories. To become a knightwas not easy there were many steps towards fulfilling knighthood. Not only did it take years of training to become a knight, but it also took bravery, courtesy, and honor known as chivalry and courtly love. A man without those qualities did not have what it takes to play this role. Knights of the Middle Ageswere first and premier warriors who fought from horseback, wore body covering armor, and used weapons such as swords and daggers to fight and protect in battle. There were five steps to knighthood, becoming a knight took years of training, during which a young man learned how to fight, ride, and behave in proper, knightley manner (Corrick 29). The first step to becoming a knight was having the right connections because it was very expensive to buy all the equipment necessary in protecting himself on the battlefield. That being said a knight usually came from a noble or wealthy family. The upbringing is the second step, if a boy came from the right family and had the ambition to be a knight by the age of seven he would have to learn all basic manners and what the role of a

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is my ultimate dream to become a veterinarian. This career often sees many different types of situations. Sometimes, it may be blissful and enjoyable, like when you save an abused dog from potentially dying. Other times it can be heartbreaking and unpleasant. There is no simple rule for when to express feelings. Instead, we must exercise judgment. We have an ethical obligation to make thoughtful choices about whether, when, and how to express our emotions. At times, being a veterinarian, I may want to grieve with a family over the loss of their pet or even anger if I am unable to help an animal in need. However, displaying such emotions would be extremely inappropriate and unprofessional while simultaneously violating professional norms. Instead of revealing the emotions described above, a veterinarian should exhibit strength and courage. They should be able to remain positive during even the bleakest times. For example, if I were to discover that one of my client s pets had an incurable type of cancer and would require euthanasia, I would want to remain optimistic, while providing comfort to the family and the pet during such a hard time. If the family senses my sadness or anger, they are more inclined to feel the same way as me. With that being said, if I present a positive, relaxed mood, the family would be more slanted towards those feelings. Although I would be saddened by an event such as this, it would be quite unprofessional for me to do break into tears, despite my sadness. Everyone will have to deal with negative emotions during their career, at some point or another, and learning how to cope with these feelings and which are appropriate to express is crucial to our

Due to the story being retold from the point of view of Victor the reader is more likely to understand why Victor and Walton deem the monster a malevolent and insensitive brute. (Favert 1) We must begin to read Frankenstein more as a well wrought baggy monster of correspondences, and less as a singular, alien phenomenon. Within the text, the various narrators slide from their own stories into the histories of others, and with each movement, we are asked to extend our willing suspension of disbelief. As the novel multiplies its story tellers and listeners, it renews the problem of narrative authority. Whose story do we believe? the novel defuses such a question. The fantastic nature of the stories preclude rational explanation or judgment, and we do not,

One component of attention is this term sustained attention , which is the ability to consistently engage in an activity over time without loosing concentration (Willard Spackman, 2014). Willard Spackman express that repetitive and predictable activities place less demands on sustained attention. Attention process training (APT) is a computerized training program that provides practice in five types of attention: focused, sustained, selective, alternating and divided (Park, Proulx Towers, 1999). Several research studies have concluded that specific components of attention need specific training and that with sufficient training it is possible to improve aspects of attention and other cognitive functions (Park et al, 1999; Sohlberg, McLaughlin, Pavese, Heidrich Posner, 2000). Before each task is completed, the requirements are briefly explained and usually take between 2 3 minutes to complete. A low level evidence ... by Park et al (1999) concluded that the APT program improved the functioning of specific cognitive processes underlying attention but not general cognitive functioning. The APT program was designed to last for 40 hours with an average of 20 sessions. If the participant were to make three or more errors these tasks were repeated

It outlines what substance dependence is all about, which includes its symptoms, a theory to explain the phenomena and the South African perspective of the disorder. Substance Dependence is a behavioral and physiological phenomenon which happens after a person has been practicing substance use over a long period of time and the individual does this repeatedly (Austin, Botha, Du Plessis, Du Plessis, Jordaan, Lake, Moletsane, Nel, Pillay, Ure, Visser, Von Krosigk, Vorster, 2013). People who use these substances have difficulty controlling the amounts they consume and tend to use the substance excessively; the person has a continued desire to use the substance. They tend to crave the substance therefore causing a difficulty in controlling the use of the substance. Substance dependence disorders are more severe forms of Substance abuse disorders and involves a physiological dependence on the substance (Coleman, Butcher Carson,1984,Pg. 397). Canada s contribution in the Allied war effort did not only come from Canadian soldiers, but also from regular, everyday citizens who never saw battle, such as those involved in the Canadian war industry, BCATP, and the Corps of Canadian Firefighters. The Canadian industry supplied a great deal of war materials for the Allies, producing more than 800,000 military transport vehicles, 50,000 tanks, 40,000 field, naval, and anti aircraft guns, and 1,700,000 small arms. 6 Canada s strong war industry was required to produce as much ammunition, weapons, and vehicles as they could in order to defeat Germany, who had great industrial power at the time. In 1939, Canada became the home for major recruiting and training for pilots during the Second World War in an organization called the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Throughout the war, Canada had graduated 131,533 airmen, including pilots, navigators, bomb aimers, wireless operators, air gunners and flight engineers.7 These men would later become involved in the war in the air, and their numbers would greatly contribute to the Allied air superiority. • 42. The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William Shakespeare INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes in world literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common concepts within a story. The author creates characters who are the tempter (usually the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the protagonist.) The characters within the plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The author may also include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William Shakespeare incorporated these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film adaptations of directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and Oliver Parker (Othello 1995.) THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil unless there is someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s Third New International Dictionary of the English Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the state of being tempted to do evil (Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three predominant pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is the tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted. Finally, in Hamlet, the

This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved. In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her devotion to him (19). In this class we had read the story fearless where it is about a girl who sacrifices her life for the good of the girls in the institute. As a well known fact, people who do stand up for what they believe in can determine the future values of the next generation. Those people also bring hope to others that are hopeless. Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. Literature can help us define the greater good by creating stories that relate, set examples and show how us as a person can make big differences in other people s life too. Throughout history there has been many examples of people who had created a major change to our historical timeline. For example Around the timewhere polish wanted to become independent from Germany I man named Maximilian Kolbewas born. When I say mexican looking, I mean dark skined, mustache, the boots, the belts, the Ed Hardy things, the hats and of course their music. This exact same thing happens in Abercombie Fitch. The only difference is that caucasians are not the minority in this country. I find very hypocritical the fact that people judge Abercombie, Hollister, Express and other stores in that range for who they hire. This is a duble standard and very unfair way of looking at things. In the article Going for the look, but risking discrimination by Steven Greenhouse; Tom Lenox, Abercombie s communicatons director said: Brand representatives are embassadors to the brand. I was in the pre contemplation stage of the Stages of Change, and felt no great need to change any of my study habits. As the semester went on, I began to realize the challenge that University presented to me on an intellectual level. Scrambling to cope with this unexpected challenge, I committed to my scholastic endeavors by throwing vast amounts of time into my studies. At this point I graduated to the contemplation stage, as I began to look for solutions to my agony and largely lacking scholastic achievement. The first cavity is the mouth, where food digestion begins with the chewing of food into smaller and manageable molecules (mastication). The first digestive enzyme is also released here in the form of salivary amylase which begins the breakdown of starch. It is the only point at which this enzyme will be released, so if it is blocked, starchy products will not be broken down correctly. Once food leaves the mouth, it travels down the oesophagus and into the second cavity the stomach. Here digestives enzymes are released such as hydrochloric acid and gastric
