Characteristics Of A Good Leader Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Characteristics of a Good Leader" poses a multifaceted
challenge that demands a comprehensive understanding of leadership principles, a keen insight
into human behavior, and effective communication skills. It requires delving into various
dimensions such as emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and
motivate others.
One difficulty lies in the extensive research necessary to provide a nuanced perspective on
leadership. Gathering information on exemplary leaders, their qualities, and the impact of their
leadership styles requires thorough investigation and critical analysis. It's not just about listing
generic traits; it involves finding real-life examples, anecdotes, and case studies to substantiate
the points made in the essay.
Another challenge is maintaining a balance between theory and practical application. Discussing
leadership theories is essential, but it's equally important to illustrate how these theories manifest
in real-world scenarios. Connecting theoretical concepts to concrete examples makes the essay
more engaging and convincing, requiring a thoughtful integration of academic knowledge and
practical insights.
Moreover, the challenge lies in articulating thoughts clearly and coherently. Expressing ideas in a
structured manner while ensuring a smooth flow of information is crucial for effective
communication. The essay must convey a compelling narrative, guiding the reader through the
exploration of leadership characteristics without losing their attention.
Additionally, addressing the diverse aspects of leadership, such as adaptability, empathy, and
decision-making, adds complexity to the essay. Balancing the coverage of each trait while
maintaining focus on the overarching theme of effective leadership requires careful planning and
organization.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the characteristics of a good leader demands a combination of
research skills, critical thinking, and effective communication. Navigating through the intricacies
of leadership principles and providing a well-rounded perspective is no easy feat. However, with
diligence and a strategic approach, one can create an insightful and impactful essay on this vital
subject.

Socialism In The United States
The logistical system through which all goods and services are distributed and
carried out is of concern to everyone within it. In the United States, through our
esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a
choice between two right wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda
attacks one party states, but is this only to accentuate the difference between us and
them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a
citizen whose policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure
of our education system to curtail the free thought of an individual to the extent
where their political ideals cannot be labeled as liberal or conservative? Socialism...

More recently it seems that most profit lies in company wide specialization, and the
avant garde of most industries lies entirely in individual companies working
towards their own goals. In fact, recently competition has been avoided amongst
very large companies, as it is more profitable to exploit the consumer by limiting
their options. When the consumer has few to no options, there is little incentive to
invest in the improvement of services. Capitalism can be both a catalyst and a
hinderance for improvements, and it would be disingenuous to assume socialism
couldn t at least match capitalism in this regard. For example in socialistic societies,
financial sustainability wouldn t be a concern for freelance or employed thinkers.
The idea that capitalism is holistically superior innovatively stems from capitalism s
omnipresence on a global scale. The ex post facto attribution of innovative
technology to capitalism is a post hoc ergo propter hoc

Eugenics And Its Effects On Society
Between the time period of 1900 to 1945, many scientists and researchers sought
ways to improve the human race by defining who was fit and unfit to reproduce, this
was infamously known as eugenics. Eugenics looked at races and ethnic groups to
identify what genetic qualities they had that would help decipher who had the
strongest physical and mental characteristics to survive within nature. The idea of
eugenicswas inspired by Darwin s theory of evolution in 1859, but was later
defined in 1883 by the statistician Francis Galton. Galton believed that eugenics
should offer the more suitable races or strains of blood a better chance of prevailing
speedily over the less suitable [in order to] clearly and unabashedly [make a reality]
the goal of breeding a more gifted race. During this time period eugenics was
internationally acclaimed, became highly popularized in the United States in the
1930s. A research program and a social action program were created by American
eugenicists to determine the degree in which mental and behavioral traits could be
hereditarily determined and its detrimental effects on society. The research and social
action program consisted of sterilization and immigration laws, that were lobbied by
eugenicists, to improve social and racial hierarchies in the United States. This later
became known as the eugenics social movement in the United States. During this
time Germany was heavily influenced and had been avidly following the work of

demeanor and attitude was always on the positive spectrum, constantly seeking for
the good in people. This is where is long journey and his road to fame began. Albus
Dumbledore made his debut in J.K Rowlings Harry Potter series in Harry Potter and
the Philosopher s Stone, and from there, he began his legacy of wizardry and
power. In 1892, Professor Dumbledore began his legendary journey at Hogwarts
school of Witchcraft and Wizardry where the Gryffindor house became his home.
J.K Rowling has stated that she finds Dumbledore to be one of her favorites and
that she loves writing about him because he is the epitome of goodness . (1) You
can say that wizardry had an everlasting impact as to who Dumbledore was, and
who he was yet to become. The character of Dumbledore was created as a form of
stability and guidance for Harry with a constant reminder on how love is its own
type of powerful magic and how it can conquer death. Dumbledore s evolution
from young boy to Headmaster of Hogwarts was eventful to say the least. Every
experience that he lived led him, shaped him and molded him into the person he

Hollow, a wizarding village. He attended school at Hogwarts in 1892. By the end of
the first year, he would never again be known as the son

Examples Of Social Psychology In Dead Poets Society
This essay intends to examine different aspects of Social Psychology in the film,
Dead Poets Society. Released in 1989, this film provides a look at the culture of an
Eastern preparatory school, and how a charismatic leader can utilize minority
influence to inspire a mass of students. Interactions between characters exhibit many
phenomena evident of social psychology, such as how a person can influence a
situation and vice versa; social influence; conformity; situational strength; the human
need for individuality and to be unique. These different types of interactions all
define Social Psychology, and are exhibited in every unique situation. Keywords:
social psychology, Dead Poets Society, social influence, individuality Critically
acclaimed by movie critics around the world, Dead Poets Society follows a group of
teenage boys in a New England preparatory school setting. Robin Williams stars as an
English professor, whose unorthodox teaching style urges his students to discover and
reach their own self actualization through understanding poetry. Because Williams
teachings do stray from the traditional culture of the school, Williams is often labeled
part of his own outgroup, stigmatized, and eventually used as a scapegoat. While this
film culture and setting may be an inaccurate representation of the majority of the
population, themes of Social Psychology successfully portray how people interact
every day. Examples such as a cultural norms, minority influence, and how a

Adele s song shows a new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain
while contrastingly Motion City Soundtrack s song reveals a tone that is longing.
The lyrics in Rolling in the Deep say, See how I leave with every piece of you. Don
t underestimate the things that I will do. The speaker is shows to be unaffected by
the relationship and he/she is trying to show the past lover how easily he/she can
walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution
and gives off a tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling
of confidence the speaker has gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could
do better without his/her past lover. The figurative language not only helps explain
the major difference from the longing My Favorite Accident expresses but it also
helps to add on to the theme that relationships do not always work out and that
could be for better or for worse. In contrast, My Favorite Accident states, I can t
swim in the silence of your skin skin please let me in. The idiom indicates the
speaker and the lover may not speak any longer and the speaker is desperate to speak
to his/her lover again. As mentioned before, the text reveals a tone that is longing.

Risk Management Activity
2.1.8Risk management
Risk management is a management activity, purposing to facilitate a consistent imple

cred it risk is one of the concerns of risk management.
2.1.9Asset Management
In the economic downturn, there are plenty of elements become troubles. Financial
market is the typical factor. The prospect of economic recovery also depends on per
formance of financial market. Hence, it is appropriate to convey that effective asset
management is a fundamental element of practices for recovering the economy. Asset
management is a process, in which non performing loans are identified and classified
for effective solutions, including selling, recovering, restructuring, and writing off
(woo, 2000).
The selling a non performing loan facilitates diversification of risk and reallocation
of resources (Woo, 2000), in which loans will be selling to a third party to settle
down losses.
The recovering non performing loan is to modify and readjust the loan and its
collateral, in which the value of loan can be recoupled through the liquidation of its
collateral, or can be sold part of the possession of obligors (Woo, 2000). The
effectiveness of this method depends on the perceived valuation of the loans and
other relative assets.
The restructuring of non performing loan is to reschedule and modify term payment
for strengthening the ability of the obligor to repay either the principals and interest,

People who have been bullied are reported to be more likely to have depression and

study investigates GPs involvement in bullying by giving a survey asking if young
people felt comfortable with talking to GPs about being bullied. This also has to do
with psychology. This interests me because, even though I have never been bullied, I
have been around people who have been bullied and not know how to deal with it. At
that time those people were involved in self harm and even attempted suicide. I didn t
know how to deal with them either, but they found out that they were really
comfortable talking to the school counselor so that really helped them out a lot.
Having to see them go through that makes me realize how important getting GPs

Research Question and Justification
On average, women make up about 7 percent of the total federal and state
incarcerated population in the United States. This has increased since the 1980s due
to stricter and more severe laws that focus on recreational drug use, a lack of
community programs, and fewer treatment centers available for outpatients (Zaitow
and Thomas, eds., 2003). According to the National Women s Law Centers, women
prisoners report a higher than statistically normal history of domestic violence in
their immediate past, and the fastest growing prison population with a
disproportionate number of non Whites forming over 60 percent of the population.
In fact, over 30 percent of women in prison are serving sentences for murder
involving a spouse or partner. The incarceration of women presents far different
cultural and sociological issues than those of men issues with children, family, sexual
politics and more (NWLC, 2012).
The rapid increase of female prisoners in a male dominated system has left fewer
adequate resources available for women. In addition, most research shows that women
s prison experiences differ drastically from those of men because their relationships
inside and outside prison tend to shape the culture then enter into in prison. Women
tend to form differing structures than men, finding roles similar to that which they
would undertake outside prison. In addition, over 60 percent of women in prison
were the primary guardians for their children,
Baseball Is America s National Pastime
The argument over which sport is originally Americas national past time is as
enduring and intense as American sports themselves. Each and every week millions
of people tune in to watch their favorite sports being played. Over the years baseball
has traditionally been known as the national pastime among all sports, but the rich
tradition and history behind baseballis still around and noticed, with that being said,
baseball is still referred to as America s national pastime. This can be attributed to
many factors including a superior television product, more controlled violence, and
legalized gambling with fantasy football and baseball.
Each and every week millions of Americans tune in to watch their favorite sports.
Basketball, baseball, football, golf, soccer, and racing all have a place and a
market with the sports fans in America. Over the past two decades, baseball has
been left behind while football has become America s new national pastime
(Kendrick, Scott. Baseball s Origins An Illustrated History Of Baseball.

the Prussians, Old Milon spits in the colonel s face after being interrogated and

Distillation Method Of Isopentyl Acetate ( Banana Oil )
Isopentyl Acetate (Banana Oil)
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to study the esterification reaction principle and
master the preparation method of the isoamyl acetate. It was use isoamyl alcohol and
acetic acid as raw materials, to the synthesis of isoamyl acetate. The necessary
methods are reflux process and distillation process.
Experiment Scheme
Chemical Structure 1: Isopentyl alcohol Chemical Structure 2: Acetic acid Chemical
Structure 3: Isopentyl acetate Chemical Structure 4: Sulfuric acid Chemical
Structure 5: Sodium bicarbonate Chemical Structure 6: Sodium chloride Chemical
Structure 7: Anhydrous sodium sulfate Reaction: Mechanism: First. We weight
the 10 ml graduated cylinder and record the data for 37.87g. Then put 5ml
isopentyl alcohol and weight it with the 10 ml graduated cylinder for 41.94g. So,
we get the isopentyl alcohol weight is 4.07g. Then, we also weight 7ml glacial
acetic acid and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder. We add 1 ml sulfuric acid
and put it into the 10 ml graduated cylinder too. After we mix all of the liquid, we
put a boiling stone in the flask. Next, we good connection device like the picture.
Then heating under reflux. Before reflux, we should check it. First, we should wait
until the liquid began to boil and the color was changing to brown. Then, continue to
heat for 75 minutes. After 75 minutes, we stop it. And we need to cool the liquid to
the room temperature. Then we ready 10ml ice water to cool the liquid. After cooling
it, we put the liquid in the separatory funnel. And we should add 5ml saturated
aqueous sodium to separate it. After first separate it. Then add 5ml saturated aqueous
sodium chloride to separate it. Then transfer the liquid to a 25 ml round bottom flask.
After one week, we first weight the sample mass. Then put our sample to another
group s graduated cylinder. And weight the combine mass. Then put the sample into a
distillation unit. To begin the distillation and record the boiling point range. And we
should also weight the mass after distillation. We can calculate the percentage yield.

Analysis Of Marilyn Diptych By Andy Warhol
Introduction
The following essay will be analysing the artwork Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol
which is an acrylic on canvas, silkscreen print. The artwork measures 2054 x 1448 x
20mm and the artwork was painted in the year 1962. The analysis will be done by
discussing the following in detail: the formal elements, the size, materials and
techniques used, line, shape/form, colour, tone as well as the function and meaning
of the piece. The analysis will also cover the historical significance of the piece with
the connotative meaning but mainly focussing on the denotative meaning of Marilyn
Diptych by Andy Warhol.
Historical background
Andy Warhol s Marilyn Diptych is made of two silver canvases on which Warhol
silkscreened a famous photograph of Marilyn Monroe fifty times, as seen in figure 1.
In an analytical article on Andy Warhol s Marilyn Diptych, Tina Rivers Ryan (smart
history 2015:02) said at first glance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The work is a publicity still of Marilyn Monroe for the film Niagra that Warhol
cropped and blew up. The image was then transferred to the mesh of a silk screen,
he then passed an ink laden squeegee over the mesh as the silkscreen was on the
canvas. The ink would pass through and press the print of the image onto the
canvas. The areas of the mesh where glue was applied prevented the paint from
passing through the canvas. In an interview Warhol said, In August 62 I started
doing silkscreens. I wanted something stronger that gave more of an assembly line
effect. With silk screening you pick a photograph, blow it up, transfer it in glue
onto silk, and then roll ink across it so the ink goes through the silk but not through
the glue (MOOC peer assessment 2014:06). The edges of the still were cropped out
to emphasise her face, this made Monroe s face constantly in your face through the
media, the size of the work has the same effect because the artwork is large too as
seen in figure
The Structure Of The Circus Maximus In Ancient Rome
In Rome there was a large stadium called the Circus Maximus . The Circus
Maximus was a mass entertainment venue used to hold chariot races, gladiatorial
competitions, religious ceremonies and athletic events. The Circus Maximus was
built on the level ground of the Valley of Murcia , between Rome s Aventine and
Palatine Hills. In Rome s early days, the valley would have been rich agricultural
land, prone to flooding from the river Tiber and the stream which divided the valley.
The circus was founded by King Tarquinius Priscus in the 6th Century BC, when the
marshy valley separating Palatine hill from Aventine Hill was drained just for its
construction.
The circus maximus was the first and largest Chariot Racing Stadium built in ancient
Rome. It measured 621 m in length and 118 m in width, and could seat
approximately 250,000 people, which was over a quarter of the city s population.
The design of the Circus Maximus included a stretched oval arena with a flat end,
which was where the starting blocks were located. Chariots would enter the track
when metal barriers were lifted. A lavish luxury box was built high upon Palatine
hill specifically for the Emperor to oversee the games. The Circus Maximus design
was lacking in one way, as the city grew in population and wealth, the seating in the
Circus had to grow to accommodate them.
Stone counterparts quickly replaced the original wooden seats. Gaius Julius Caesar
ordered the construction and seating was increased to 150,000
The Pros And Cons Of Extraterrestrial Life
One of the most prominent and controversial topics related to astronomy is whether
or not there is life outside of our planet. This isn t necessary an issue, but rather a
question that has confounded me my whole life and what initially inspired me to
take this class. This question has driven people to question our place in the universe
all throughout history, and as best said by Neil deGrasse Tyson, The time honored
question: What is our place in the universe might just be genetically encoded in our
species (Tyson, 2003). Personally, I think it is ignorant to assume we are the only
living intelligent life in our universe due to its vastness and endless possibilities;
however, research hasn t proven much yet.
To begin, I want to first define extraterrestrial life, as there are many definitions and
part of what contributes to extraterrestrial life controversy. According to Nola Taylor
Redd in the article SETI The Search for Intelligent Life, extraterrestrial life can
roughly be categorized into two groups: the first category is life itself, which
includes microorganisms and other simple forms, and the second group includes
intelligent life. Intelligent life can simply be defined as life forms that originates
anywhere outside of Earth; however, this definition still feels a little broad and doesn
t exactly provide a clear idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life. In the article
Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Hypothetical Life Form, Seth Shostak defines

Emotion In Frankenstein
Meeting new people is one of the most socially difficult things to do. The meetings
can involve awkward silences or greetings followed by slow conversation that may
grow into a friendship. This first meeting also includes a lot of assumptions about
the other person. This idea of assumption is the cliche of not judging a book by its
cover. At a glance, it is impossible to know what music a person likes, what their
family is like, or even what they do in their spare time. People have to guess what
the other person s personality is like in that single glance. In Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein, a young scientist named Victor Frankensteinreanimates a dead body
into a humanlike eight foot tall creature that is almost human. Frankenstein abandons

After rescuing a child from drowning, the adults with the child attacked the creature.
It escaped, and silently rages This was then the reward of my benevolence! I had
saved a human being from destruction, and as a recompense I now writhed under the

with the child assume that the screaming is because of the monster, and they shoot
the monster to protect themselves. The accident happens quick, and the adults act on
their instincts. Despite the monster completing a heroic act, they assume that the
creature is the villain. The creature feels rage at humans for assuming it to villainous

Theme And Meaning Of Peter Pan
Theme and Meaning Peter Pan is a timeless tale in which transcends time and
culture through its underlying themes. Each of the characters fulfilled their roles
tremendously, and was able to bring forth these themes in their own unique ways.
The most apparent, from the beginning, is the emphasis of youthfulness. Peter is
the main embodiment of this theme, given he does not physically age. From the
beginning, his role was that to entice Wendy and her siblings to journey with him
to Never never land. What this magical place represents is a state of remaining
youthful forever, and not letting society conform one s beliefs. The concept of age
is masked by Peter s stubbornness to not conform to such. For example, Wendy
wants to get married and have kids one day; Peter does not. Wendy wants this
because she is taught from a young age that this is a common normality of life.
Peter refusing to stay at the house with the other lost boys, in the end, showed that
such normality does not have to be one s choice. This theme was conveyed by the
play being both a comedy and a musical. These two forms of drama brought with it
both wittiness and purity, both of which are a direct correlation youthfulness. And the
character s ability to sing with clarity helped boost such a message. The role such
clarity played is relevant to American culture, today. In order for people to listen, in a
society with so much information, a message must be clear and transparent. Although
it is not necessary
Wage Garnishment Persuasive Speech
A friend once said to me, If you ever feel like no one notices you, stop paying your
bills . While we would definitely not recommend that you stop paying your bills,
the idea behind his comical advice is sound. If you stop paying your bills, your bill
collectors are going to come knocking. If you don t make contact with a bill
collector when you are behind on a payment, they may do worse than annoy you with
constant phone calls, they may go after your wages.
Wage garnishment is when someone to whom you owe money legally has it taken
from your paycheck. This can be done from almost anyone who you owe money to.
If you owe money on a student loan, child support, back taxes, credit card
companies, loan companies, and more. The garnishment is handled by your
employer or if they outsource to a company like Vision H.R., an experienced
outsourcing Daytona Beach payroll company, and are deducted from your disposable
income, meaning whatever is left after the normal deductions that are taken out of
your check, such as social security. Luckily however, there are rules and limitations
when it comes to companies placing a wage garnishment against you, as we will ...

When it comes to something that deals with the court, or government, a court
order is often times not needed. For example, if you do your yearly taxes and end
up having to pay money back, yet chose not to, the government can garnish your
wages. If you owe child support, and similarly chose not to pay them, the court can
garnish your wages without a court order. Finally, student loans have to be paid in a
timely manner, or the company that gave you the loan can garnish your wages.
Other creditors, such as loan companies or credit card companies, have to go
through the court before placing a garnish on your wages. This can also include
medical bills that have built up over
Unreliable Narrator In Fiction
In the article, The Unreliable Narrator in Fiction , by Ginny Wiehardt, the author
states that an unreliable narrator cannot be trusted. The reasons behind this statement
are rather simple. An unreliable narrator will, more often than not, speak with a bias,
make mistakes, or even lie. Moreover, the author explains that a narratorwho is
unintentionally unreliable gives the reader an opportunity to better understand the
way adult characters behave toward each other. Furthermore, the author states that an
intentionally unreliable narratoris rather frightening in comparison to an
unintentionally unreliable narrator.
Based on the information in the article the author s purpose should be easy to
determine. The author states where the term unreliable narrative originates from, and
also lists examples of unreliable narratives in novels. For example, A Gesture Life...
The Catcher in the Rye... To Kill a Mockingbird... Lolita.. The Tell Tale Heart
(Wiehardt). Lastly, the author specifies the types of unreliable narrators and the
purposes an author has for making the narrator unreliable. As a result, the author s
purpose is to inform the readers about unreliable narrators.

Skin Moles Research Paper
Moles are, in essence, clusters of skin pigment cells which should be spread
throughout the body. Instead of locating themselves across the skin itself they
group together and form what we see as a mole. These are often harmless and may
never cause you problems in the long run. When they begin to form too often you
may feel there is a reason why they are continuously popping up and you might
want to have a professional see to them just in case they are harmful to your health.
There are a variety of causes that could lead to moles appearing on the body and
while some of these can be prevented at other times the causes are more complex and
you may need to look at a range of probabilities that may be contributing to the
problem. At different

Safety Statement And Risk Assessment
Employees who works in the care homes performs physically exhausting activities
such as lifting heavy loads, working in awkward positions when assisting and
transferring residents. Increase exposure to hazardous conditions increases working
injury rates (Trinkoff, Johantgen, Muntaner, Le, 2005).
In relation to stairs and steps, both ascending and descending can be hazardous.
Descending stairs may be more likely to cause accidents and these accidents may
result in more serious injuries. As well as stairs and steps, ramps and kerbs must be
considered (HSA, 2016).
SAFETY STATEMENT AND RISKASSESSMENT| SECTION 19 AND 20
In a healthcare sector where the purpose of the organisation itself is to provide care
and health security to their residents, a safety statement and risk assessment is
mandatory not only for residents but employees and anyone who have come in and
out of the workplace premises. In Mary s case the safety committee and the
management have failed to follow the 2005 Act and General Application Regulations
2007 in developing a safety statement which includes a written risk assessment that is
reviewed and kept up to date (HSA, 2012).
Safety statement specify how the health and safety of employees are secured and
managed. Concerning health and safety it will include:
A policy that states the employers commitment in providing a safe place of work.
Duties of the employers and employees.

The Theme Of American Pastoral By Philip Roth
Human beings strived for a better life since the beginning. Mankind witnessed a
never ending race for happiness, wealth, power and superiority. Many revolutions
changed the course of history and became watershed events having great impact on
the human life. While some of the ideas lived on, some of the ideas were short lived.
American Dream was one of such ideas which laid the foundation for the making of
United Statesof America. The Statue of Liberty itself symbolizes the idea of the
Great American Dream. The celebrated idea of American Dream had tremendous
impact on the entire nation and influenced each and every individual in some way or
the other. In fact, it became a significant subject in the course of history and played a

The pastoral was initially originated by the Greek poet Theocritus and the Latin poet
Virgil, who wrote poems about the shepherds ( pastor is Latin for shepherd ). In
Shostak s book Philip Roth: American Pastoral, The Human Stain, The Plot Against
America, the traditional pastoral is described as: a deliberate conventional poem
expressing an urban poet s nostalgic image of the peace and simplicity of the life of
the shepherds and other rural folk in idealized natural settings (qtd. in. Shostak
34). In American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family,
who in search of the American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from
heartache and pain due to the adverse situations. In a way, it is similar to the story
of Job in the Holy Bible, in which Job s life moves from one phase to another, from
poverty to riches, and then back to the former. The novel consciously alludes to
Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost, both thematically and formally, with the Jewish
post war acquisition and loss of an American
Virtual Organization Behavior
Virtual Organization Characteristics
From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual
organization/team has four main characteristics which make it different from non
virtual organization/team:
First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without
department. Business environment change makes a company or organization should
be more flexible in doing its activity. When a company should produce a high quality
product to meet their consumer needs, they could collaborate with other companies
to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual organization/team has an important
role.
Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate
someone with innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of
books but they do not really have the books, they cooperate with other parties who
have the books and then sell it via Amazon.
Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such
as different geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic
location, nationally or internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the
time difference advantage from its member. When a US company develops a website
they can work on it from morning to evening, and their partner in the other part of the
world (Asia, Africa, or Europe) will continue the development so it could finished
faster.
Fourth, impermanent member, one team formed

In hopes to cut down on the speeding, speeding enforcement programs are put into
place. With these programs they help cut down on the speeding a little in some of
the areas, but not all areas can be monitored by police due to the limited space in
most areas. Even with these programs there are the drivers who just don t want to
slow down when in the construction zones. When drivers are speeding through
these zones, they also switch lanes quickly which is very dangerous in the tighter
areas of the construction zones and can lead to accidents. The residents that drive
cars aren t the only ones speeding in these zones, but semi trucks speed through
them as well. When these big trucks are barreling through the already tight two
lanes it can make for a nerve wrecking drive. One way to try to avoid these crazy
drivers is to always pay attention. Make sure to checking all surroundings and
keeping one s eyes on the road. They lanes are very confined and the more attention
that is paid it lessens the chance of getting into an accident with a speeding

An Argument in Opposition of Education Vouchers Essay
An Argument in Opposition of Education Vouchers
Why would anyone wish to withhold support for a program that has the potential to
revolutionize the, often, insufficient American education system? This question has
undoubtedly entered the mind of proponents of education voucher systems across the
country. However, despite the pressure placed on legislators everywhere, close
scrutiny of the real issues should not be clouded by public fervor. It is my belief that,
after a thorough examination of the merits of such programs, school vouchers would
be a gross detriment to both the American education system and the nation itself.
In an education voucher system, students are given vouchers for the tuition of any
private or public school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major problem with that argument, however, is the nature of the GI Bill. While
voucher programs offer vouchers to all eligible students in their respective districts,
the funds from the GI Bill are available only to members of the Armed Forces. These
funds, though conditional, are clearly a form of repayment for military service.
Another point put forth by proponents is that of competition between schools. They
believe that competition between private schools and public schools as well as each
other will improve not only the private schools but also the public schools with
which they compete. This argument yields two concerns, however. First, people
should consider the problems that arose from many trade schools opening for the
purpose of collecting money from government grants. A large number of such
schools simply enrolled students to be eligible for grant money and provided only a
limited education. Of course, this scenario doesn t parallel that of a school voucher
program, but the concerns about schools being created simply for the purpose of
collecting voucher money. Slightly similar in concept is the other concern regarding
this free market argument: Do we really want schools that are supposed to educate the
children of this country competing for money and therefore students?
Some argue that voucher programs offer significant savings over public school
education, due to private schools being run
Installing Bamboo Flooring Essay
Usually there are no instructions in the box on installing bamboo flooring, but it is
done just like ordinary hardwood flooring. The proper floor preparation is essential
before any installation. It is important that all sub flooring be flat with a tolerance
of no more than one half inch over a twelve foot span. If the sub floor is made of
wood, staples are better to use than flooringcleats. Staples hold better and do not
squeak when stepped upon. If you decide to use a glue down installation, use the
adhesive that is specified by the manufacturer. Be sure to avoid water based
adhesives at all costs.

If you care about the environment, you should be installing bamboo flooring in every
room in your house. Bamboo is a renewable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The oil urethane wood finish supplies a highly durable coating that allows the
beauty of the wood to shine through while minimizing discoloration due to age. A
lambs wool applicator is required for even coating, and one gallon can cover over 600
square feet. The water based urethane finish can be used only on previously sealed
surfaces. The crystal clear coating shows off the natural wood beauty, and it dries
very fast. No mixing is required, and it is very economical to use. One gallon will
cover up to 1000 square feet.
5
Polyurethane hardwood floor finishes are blends of synthetic resins that protect the
surface of wood. They are moisture resistant and available in high gloss and semi
gloss as well as satin and matte. The finish is recommended for kitchens where
splashing water may be a problem. The polyurethane finish is the most common and
it turns a lovely shade of amber as it ages. Do not shake the polyurethane container
because air bubbles will appear in the final finish. Instead, stir the container to avoid
any mishaps. The coating should be applied with a brush or roller going with the
grain to avoid marking the finish.
6
The types of hardwood floor finishes determine the kind of maintenance you must
use to keep the floor new looking. Most of the time all you have to do is sweep the
floor with a broom or dust mop, and clean up spills as soon as they

James Polk And Manifest Destiny
Around the mid 1800s, the United States was focused on the idea of expansion . This
idea was influenced by Manifest Destiny a term that the U.S. not only could, but was
destined to, stretch from coast to coast and its economic nature, which was the
increased development and advancement of industry in the United States. As the U.S.
began to grow more powerful and internally sound, they were able to add more
land and, subsequently, states, into the Union. The vast majority of this expansion
occurred during the presidency of James Polk as a result of the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ceased the Mexican American war. The conception of
this war was the brainchild of Polk and was what resulted from his presidential
ideologies. President James Polk was responsible for the start of the Mexican
American war to a great extent due to his expansionist ideologies and succeeding
actions, aspiration to annex the regions of California and Texas, and contributions of
troops along the Rio GrandeRiver in 1846. To begin with, during the election of
1844, James Polk was considered to be a long shot and a definite underdog.
However, Polk gained the support of many Americans through his clear desire to
defend the territories of the United States and to further expand them. This ideology
became prevalent through his campaign slogan, 54 40 or fight , referring to the
territory that, at the time, was disputed between the United States and Great Britain,

What are the rights and duties, the powers and immunities that attach to an entity
because it is a State? Crawford gives a list of five exclusive and general legal
characteristics of States: (1) States have plenary competence to perform acts in the

with respect to their internal affairs exclusive means plenary and not subject to
control by other States. (3) States are not subject to international process without
their consent. (4) States are regarded in international law as equal , it is a formal,
not a moral or political principle. (5) States entitled to benefit from the Lotus

the World War II the number reached approximately seventy five and in 2005, there

recognition concept on the agenda of international community. Recognition has
become much important especially by reason of its results. What is meant by

The PanthГ©on
The PanthГ©on is one of the most popular attractions in Paris. It is famous for a
fabulous 19th century church and now a civil temple.
The PanthГ©on is located near the Sorbonne University and the Jardin du
Luxembourg and looks over the Quartier Latin. According to history, King Clovis
was chosen this place as a minster to build up his tomb.
This construction was started building in 1575 by Paris architect Jacques Germain
Soufflot. He designed and took charge of it. This task takes during 34 years and just
finished until 1791.
The Interior of the PanthГ©on is really unique and creative. It is used to
accommodate the remains of the great men of France. After that it was adjusted as a

Leonardo Da Vinci A Renaissance Man
William Byrd and Leonardo Da Vinci and the composer and artist duo that I have
chosen from the Renaissance era or music and art. As Leonardo Da Vinci was born
on April 15, 1452 in a city called Vinci, Republic of Florence which today is not
modern day Italy and died on May 2, 1519 at the age of 67 in the city of Amboise,
Kingdom of France. Da Vinci was more known as an artist and scientist, but was also
an inventor, architect, musician, mathmation, engineer, astronomy, writer, historian,
and geologist. So you could say that Da Vinci was a Renaissance man, meaning that
he was pretty much good at everything he did. Da Vinci s most notable works of art
were the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Vitruvian Man, and the Lady with an
Ermine. Da... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Da Vinci s artwork of The Last Supper is as a piece of art that captures the moment
of Christ just after he tells his disciples that one of them will betray him is a very
influential moment of the bible and is beautifully depicted in this art work. I
believe this work of art is a stand alone piece of art that is great in that it shows
Christ in the moment having his hands spread apart showing that they are pointed
at a piece of bread and a glass of wine. Which in turn represents the body of Christ
in the bread and the blood of Christ in the wine, which is the sacrament. What is
also interesting about the painting is that Jesus s hand that is reaching for the wine
is also near a dish on the table which Judas is reaching for symbolizing that fact that
Judas is the one who betrays Jesus and has a bag of silver in his other hand in the
painting. As for William Byrd, I believe his music is beautiful in the fact that it is
very calming and easy listening, which makes me just want to listen to more of it.
His style of music reminds me of the Gothic era of music in a way because of the
deep echo voices in the background, but it has more to it as the other singers bring a
more full sound to the piece of music and make the texture a nice soft but abrasive
type of listening that has emotion in its sound. I enthusiastically enjoyed
Lawn Mowing Persuasive Speech
CUT YOUR GRASS, NOT YOURSELF: TIPS FOR SAFE MOWING
Mowing can be easy and fun; however it is alarming to know that hundreds or even
thousands of people get injured everywhere during the process. Not everyone
realizes the importance of taking proper caution for lawn mowing safety. Take note
of the following tips to make sure that mowing is an injury free process for yourself
and other people.
1. Have the appropriate mowing equipment
A lawn mower is intended for frequent and long term usage; therefore you should
invest in a good one and maintain it well. Browsing online or reading magazines for
detailed information of the suitable lawn mowers for you. Read push lawn mower
reviews carefully to choose the one with best performance feedbacks and if possible,

Leaving the mower unattended and still running can cause severe consequences.
Dress properly for the workout and wear necessary protection. One caution is
never going barefoot when mowing; it is even worse them wearing sandals of
sneakers. Instead, a pair of slipping resistant and sturdy shoes is advised. Protect
your hearing from high decibel noises with earplugs or earmuff. Taking care of your
hand with gloves and wear close fitting clothes. Be as neat as you can.
3. Make sure the lawn area is safe for mowing
It seems to be a very simple tip but in fact, it helps you prevent injuries from flying
objects or damages to the mowing equipment. Before you start mowing, removing
debris or objects such as stones, toys, empty bottle, glass pieces, metal sticks...Put
away any tools that are not in use too. It is also noteworthy that the grass should be
dry rather than damp or wet you don t want to slip out while mowing, right?
4. Keep children and pets at bay during the mowing process.
It is sad to know that children are frequent victim of lawn related injuries. Extra
caution should be take notes to prevent that from
Import Trucks History
Did you know 94/100 ford pickups purchased in 1973 1979 are still on the road

world, and is still winning awards today. Ford pickup trucks opened a new door to
the automotive world. From 1948 until today they are still making new
improvements and innovations on top of the previous ones. In 1948, the first Ford
pickup trucks were introduced. At that time, they were known as the F 1, F 2, and F
3 aka the F series . There were two engines available; a 226 cubic inch inline six that
produced 95 horsepower and a 239 cubic inch V8 that produced 100 horsepower

Hamlet
t With underlying themes of revenge, incest, and suicide, William Shakespeare s
Hamlet was remembered by many Elizabethan Era viewers as both a philosophical
and oft debated masterpiece (Dickson). These controversial themes attracted viewers
everywhere, enticing them to see the play. One scene in particular from the original
text of the play where this proves true is act IV, scene iv, lines 31 65, in which the
titular character Hamletdecides that the time for revenge is at hand in an insightful
soliloquy. The audiencewould have been attracted to the scene because they would
receive a moral insight into Hamlet s mind, revealing his true thoughts. It also would
have expanded on the theme of revenge, and how this theme would affect the... Show

Within his thoughts, Hamlet also provides the audience with meaningful questions,
whose answers affect both the viewers and his own life. One of these questions
occurs when Hamlet asks himself: How stand I then, That have a father killed, a
mother stained, Excitement of my reason and my blood, And let all sleep. (IV, iv, 55
58)
Although the question is rhetorical, the audience still feels a need to answer. They
feel connected to both the play and Hamlet s character, and feel obligated to help
out the character in his time of need. Spectators are able to see the turmoil and
confusion occurring in the young man s mind and heart, and can easily relate the
pain to similar aspects of their own lives. Therefore, the use of a soliloquy by
Shakespeare connects the audience to the play by allowing them to see deeper into
Hamlet s conscience.
Another way Hamlet s soliloquy targets the audience is through his in depth
examination of the theme of revenge. The speech not only informs the audience of
Hamlet s desire for revenge, but also how this theme will affect the concluding
scenes of the play. As the prince s speech comes to an end, he decides that, Oh, from
this time forth,/ My thoughts be bloody, or be worth nothing! (IV. iv. 64 65). It
appears his decision is certain; his revenge is imminent. However, Hamlet has
questioned his own intentions
Medical Professionals Should Always Value A Patient s...
Medical professionals should always value a patient s ethical right to privacy and
confidentiality. Under the HIPPA law, there are still concerns with the protection of
patient privacy; therefore, healthcare professionals must confront the growing
technological environment and find ways to increase access security, as well as
discipline employees that violate a patient s privacy. Electronic health records can be
beneficial to providers from a cost and efficiency standpoint, but are patients really
better off with a paperless system?5
Privacy relates to people; confidentiality relates to data. A patient has a right to
privacy and confidentiality concerning their mental and physical medical records.
The term privacy has been defined as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Healthcare providers are able to communicate easier via electronic medical records
and under the HIPPA law it is illegal to release patient information to other non
healthcare professional parties. HIPPA states, covered entities are required to protect
the confidentiality or integrity of medical information stored in electric records.5
Confidentiality extends past privacy and protects identifiable data. So, what is
considered confidential patient information? Confidential patient information consists
of Protected Health Information (PHI). The PHI contains the patient s demographic
information, social security number, diagnoses codes, medical record number, name
of doctors, conversations between healthcare providers, billing information, images of
the patient, and medications. Confidential information is seen electronically in a
patient s medical record everyday and sometimes employees forget how important it
is to keep a patient s information confidential. Mental and physical conditions,
treatment plans and daily notes are documented in electronic medical records.
The healthcare industry benefits from Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Electronic
software is used to store and transfer patient health records. The advances in
technology allow healthcare professionals to access and share patient medical history.
Such a system may decrease health care costs, increase the quality of patient care,
facilitate better departmental communication, create less paper confusion,
Differences in Relationships Between Western and...
Differences in Relationships Between Western and Non Western Cultures
Most of the research on interpersonal attraction has been carried out in Western
societies, especially the United Kingdom and United States. This limitation is very
important as it argues that the behaviour and communication need to be understood
within the context in which they occur, and this context considerably differs from
one culture to another. Therefore we can readily accept that there are large differences
in interpersonal relationships between cultures.
Its quite easy to assume that what is true in our own culture about interpersonal
attraction is likely to be true in other cultures as well. However, the factors ... Show

However, this is contrary to some conclusions made by psychologist studying socio
biology that have found that most men of most cultures find the hour glass shape
attractive as it is shows a woman to be fertile. One consistency has been found cross
culturally. David Buss (1994) found that men tend to value physical attractiveness
and favour a younger partner, whereas women prefer status and favour an older
partner. This is all consistent with the theory of socio biology.
In North America and Western Europe homosexuality is generally accepted,
however, in some countries it is illegal. In East Bay, Melanesia, it is encouraged to
the extent that during adolescence a father will choose an older male partner for
his son to educate him in sexual techniques (Davenport 1965). In most of North
America and Western Europe, it is believed that women have the same right to
derive pleasure from sex as men, but the Chiricahua Apache Indians believe it is
wrong for women to show and emotion before or during sexual activities (Ford and
Beach 1951). Men from a village in Mexico try to avoid arousing their wife because
they believe a sexually passive wife is more likely to remain faithful (Lewis 1960).
There are even major differences in love between cultures. Lee (1973) developed six
styles of love; game playing (Ludus), possessive (Mania), logical (Pragma), altruistic

  • 2. Socialism In The United States The logistical system through which all goods and services are distributed and carried out is of concern to everyone within it. In the United States, through our esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a choice between two right wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda attacks one party states, but is this only to accentuate the difference between us and them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a citizen whose policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure of our education system to curtail the free thought of an individual to the extent where their political ideals cannot be labeled as liberal or conservative? Socialism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More recently it seems that most profit lies in company wide specialization, and the avant garde of most industries lies entirely in individual companies working towards their own goals. In fact, recently competition has been avoided amongst very large companies, as it is more profitable to exploit the consumer by limiting their options. When the consumer has few to no options, there is little incentive to invest in the improvement of services. Capitalism can be both a catalyst and a hinderance for improvements, and it would be disingenuous to assume socialism couldn t at least match capitalism in this regard. For example in socialistic societies, financial sustainability wouldn t be a concern for freelance or employed thinkers. The idea that capitalism is holistically superior innovatively stems from capitalism s omnipresence on a global scale. The ex post facto attribution of innovative technology to capitalism is a post hoc ergo propter hoc

Financial market is the typical factor. The prospect of economic recovery also depends on per formance of financial market. Hence, it is appropriate to convey that effective asset management is a fundamental element of practices for recovering the economy. Asset management is a process, in which non performing loans are identified and classified for effective solutions, including selling, recovering, restructuring, and writing off (woo, 2000). The selling a non performing loan facilitates diversification of risk and reallocation of resources (Woo, 2000), in which loans will be selling to a third party to settle down losses. The recovering non performing loan is to modify and readjust the loan and its collateral, in which the value of loan can be recoupled through the liquidation of its collateral, or can be sold part of the possession of obligors (Woo, 2000). The effectiveness of this method depends on the perceived valuation of the loans and other relative assets. The restructuring of non performing loan is to reschedule and modify term payment for strengthening the ability of the obligor to repay either the principals and interest, or

  • 17. Research Outline, Annotated Bibliography, and Sample... Research Question and Justification On average, women make up about 7 percent of the total federal and state incarcerated population in the United States. This has increased since the 1980s due to stricter and more severe laws that focus on recreational drug use, a lack of community programs, and fewer treatment centers available for outpatients (Zaitow and Thomas, eds., 2003). According to the National Women s Law Centers, women prisoners report a higher than statistically normal history of domestic violence in their immediate past, and the fastest growing prison population with a disproportionate number of non Whites forming over 60 percent of the population. In fact, over 30 percent of women in prison are serving sentences for murder involving a spouse or partner. The incarceration of women presents far different cultural and sociological issues than those of men issues with children, family, sexual politics and more (NWLC, 2012). The rapid increase of female prisoners in a male dominated system has left fewer adequate resources available for women. In addition, most research shows that women s prison experiences differ drastically from those of men because their relationships inside and outside prison tend to shape the culture then enter into in prison. Women tend to form differing structures than men, finding roles similar to that which they would undertake outside prison. In addition, over 60 percent of women in prison were the primary guardians for their children,

Over the years baseball has traditionally been known as the national pastime among all sports, but the rich tradition and history behind baseballis still around and noticed, with that being said, baseball is still referred to as America s national pastime. The artwork measures 2054 x 1448 x 20mm and the artwork was painted in the year 1962. The analysis will be done by discussing the following in detail: the formal elements, the size, materials and techniques used, line, shape/form, colour, tone as well as the function and meaning of the piece. The ink would pass through and press the print of the image onto the canvas. The areas of the mesh where glue was applied prevented the paint from passing through the canvas. In an interview Warhol said, In August 62 I started doing silkscreens. I wanted something stronger that gave more of an assembly line effect. With silk screening you pick a photograph, blow it up, transfer it in glue onto silk, and then roll ink across it so the ink goes through the silk but not through the glue (MOOC peer assessment 2014:06). The Circus Maximus was a mass entertainment venue used to hold chariot races, gladiatorial competitions, religious ceremonies and athletic events. The Circus Maximus was built on the level ground of the Valley of Murcia , between Rome s Aventine and Palatine Hills. In Rome s early days, the valley would have been rich agricultural land, prone to flooding from the river Tiber and the stream which divided the valley. The circus was founded by King Tarquinius Priscus in the 6th Century BC, when the marshy valley separating Palatine hill from Aventine Hill was drained just for its construction. The circus maximus was the first and largest Chariot Racing Stadium built in ancient Rome. It measured 621 m in length and 118 m in width, and could seat approximately 250,000 people, which was over a quarter of the city s population. The design of the Circus Maximus included a stretched oval arena with a flat end, which was where the starting blocks were located. Chariots would enter the track when metal barriers were lifted. A lavish luxury box was built high upon Palatine hill specifically for the Emperor to oversee the games. The Circus Maximus design was lacking in one way, as the city grew in population and wealth, the seating in the Circus had to grow to accommodate them. Stone counterparts quickly replaced the original wooden seats. Gaius Julius Caesar ordered the construction and seating was increased to 150,000

This isn t necessary an issue, but rather a question that has confounded me my whole life and what initially inspired me to take this class. This question has driven people to question our place in the universe all throughout history, and as best said by Neil deGrasse Tyson, The time honored question: What is our place in the universe might just be genetically encoded in our species (Tyson, 2003). Personally, I think it is ignorant to assume we are the only living intelligent life in our universe due to its vastness and endless possibilities; however, research hasn t proven much yet. To begin, I want to first define extraterrestrial life, as there are many definitions and part of what contributes to extraterrestrial life controversy. According to Nola Taylor Redd in the article SETI The Search for Intelligent Life, extraterrestrial life can roughly be categorized into two groups: the first category is life itself, which includes microorganisms and other simple forms, and the second group includes intelligent life. Intelligent life can simply be defined as life forms that originates anywhere outside of Earth; however, this definition still feels a little broad and doesn t exactly provide a clear idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life. In the article Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Hypothetical Life Form, Seth Shostak defines extraterrestrial

  • 26. Theme And Meaning Of Peter Pan Theme and Meaning Peter Pan is a timeless tale in which transcends time and culture through its underlying themes. Each of the characters fulfilled their roles tremendously, and was able to bring forth these themes in their own unique ways. The most apparent, from the beginning, is the emphasis of youthfulness. Peter is the main embodiment of this theme, given he does not physically age. From the beginning, his role was that to entice Wendy and her siblings to journey with him to Never never land. What this magical place represents is a state of remaining youthful forever, and not letting society conform one s beliefs. The concept of age is masked by Peter s stubbornness to not conform to such. For example, Wendy wants to get married and have kids one day; Peter does not. Wendy wants this because she is taught from a young age that this is a common normality of life. Peter refusing to stay at the house with the other lost boys, in the end, showed that such normality does not have to be one s choice. This theme was conveyed by the play being both a comedy and a musical. These two forms of drama brought with it both wittiness and purity, both of which are a direct correlation youthfulness. And the character s ability to sing with clarity helped boost such a message. The role such clarity played is relevant to American culture, today. In order for people to listen, in a society with so much information, a message must be clear and transparent. Although it is not necessary

In American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family, who in search of the American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from heartache and pain due to the adverse situations. In a way, it is similar to the story of Job in the Holy Bible, in which Job s life moves from one phase to another, from poverty to riches, and then back to the former. The novel consciously alludes to Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost, both thematically and formally, with the Jewish post war acquisition and loss of an American
  • 34. Virtual Organization Behavior Virtual Organization Characteristics From the definitions of virtual organization/team, it can be summarized that virtual organization/team has four main characteristics which make it different from non virtual organization/team: First, cross line, virtual organization/team is centralized with a few or without department. Business environment change makes a company or organization should be more flexible in doing its activity. When a company should produce a high quality product to meet their consumer needs, they could collaborate with other companies to determine consumer needs. In this case, virtual organization/team has an important role. Second, resources and purpose sharing, virtual organization/team could facilitate someone with innovative idea but has not enough resources. Amazon sells a lot of books but they do not really have the books, they cooperate with other parties who have the books and then sell it via Amazon. Third, geographic dispersion, refer to any physical dispersion of team members, such as different geographic locations or different workplaces at the same geographic location, nationally or internationally. Virtual organization/team could maximize the time difference advantage from its member. When a US company develops a website they can work on it from morning to evening, and their partner in the other part of the world (Asia, Africa, or Europe) will continue the development so it could finished faster. An Argument in Opposition of Education Vouchers Essay An Argument in Opposition of Education Vouchers Why would anyone wish to withhold support for a program that has the potential to revolutionize the, often, insufficient American education system? This question has undoubtedly entered the mind of proponents of education voucher systems across the country. However, despite the pressure placed on legislators everywhere, close scrutiny of the real issues should not be clouded by public fervor. It is my belief that, after a thorough examination of the merits of such programs, school vouchers would be a gross detriment to both the American education system and the nation itself. The major problem with that argument, however, is the nature of the GI Bill. While voucher programs offer vouchers to all eligible students in their respective districts, the funds from the GI Bill are available only to members of the Armed Forces. These funds, though conditional, are clearly a form of repayment for military service. Another point put forth by proponents is that of competition between schools. They believe that competition between private schools and public schools as well as each other will improve not only the private schools but also the public schools with which they compete. This argument yields two concerns, however. First, people should consider the problems that arose from many trade schools opening for the purpose of collecting money from government grants. A large number of such schools simply enrolled students to be eligible for grant money and provided only a limited education. Of course, this scenario doesn t parallel that of a school voucher program, but the concerns about schools being created simply for the purpose of collecting voucher money. Slightly similar in concept is the other concern regarding this free market argument: Do we really want schools that are supposed to educate the children of this country competing for money and therefore students? Some argue that voucher programs offer significant savings over public school education, due to private schools being run

  • 42. James Polk And Manifest Destiny Around the mid 1800s, the United States was focused on the idea of expansion . This idea was influenced by Manifest Destiny a term that the U.S. not only could, but was destined to, stretch from coast to coast and its economic nature, which was the increased development and advancement of industry in the United States. As the U.S. began to grow more powerful and internally sound, they were able to add more land and, subsequently, states, into the Union. The vast majority of this expansion occurred during the presidency of James Polk as a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ceased the Mexican American war. The conception of this war was the brainchild of Polk and was what resulted from his presidential ideologies. President James Polk was responsible for the start of the Mexican American war to a great extent due to his expansionist ideologies and succeeding actions, aspiration to annex the regions of California and Texas, and contributions of troops along the Rio GrandeRiver in 1846. To begin with, during the election of 1844, James Polk was considered to be a long shot and a definite underdog. However, Polk gained the support of many Americans through his clear desire to defend the territories of the United States and to further expand them. This ideology became prevalent through his campaign slogan, 54 40 or fight , referring to the territory that, at the time, was disputed between the United States and Great Britain, when is modern day Canada and the

Which in turn represents the body of Christ in the bread and the blood of Christ in the wine, which is the sacrament. What is also interesting about the painting is that Jesus s hand that is reaching for the wine is also near a dish on the table which Judas is reaching for symbolizing that fact that Judas is the one who betrays Jesus and has a bag of silver in his other hand in the painting. One of these questions occurs when Hamlet asks himself: How stand I then, That have a father killed, a mother stained, Excitement of my reason and my blood, And let all sleep. (IV, iv, 55 58) Although the question is rhetorical, the audience still feels a need to answer. Spectators are able to see the turmoil and confusion occurring in the young man s mind and heart, and can easily relate the pain to similar aspects of their own lives.
