Essay Introduction Samples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay Introduction Samples" can be more challenging than it
might initially appear. While the topic itself suggests a focus on examples and templates for
essay introductions, the complexity lies in the need to strike a balance between providing
concrete samples and offering insightful analysis.
Firstly, delving into the realm of essay introductions demands a deep understanding of the
nuances involved. It requires a keen sense of the diverse purposes that introductions serve,
whether they are meant to grab attention, provide context, or outline the essay's structure. This
intricate understanding is crucial for selecting appropriate samples that not only showcase various
styles but also illustrate their effectiveness in different contexts.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere compilation of examples without offering
substantial insights. The essay should transcend the superficial by delving into the underlying
strategies employed in each introduction sample. Analyzing why certain introductions work well
and others do not requires a critical eye and a thorough exploration of rhetorical devices, tone,
and audience engagement.
Moreover, creating a coherent narrative throughout the essay can be demanding. Organizing the
information in a logical sequence while maintaining a clear and engaging writing style is
essential. The risk of the essay becoming a mere list of examples without a unifying thread is
ever-present, making the task more intricate.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "Essay Introduction Samples" demands a multifaceted
approach that combines a profound understanding of the topic, a discerning analysis of samples,
and the ability to weave these elements into a cohesive narrative. It is a task that goes beyond
the surface level of providing examples and necessitates a deeper exploration of the art and
science behind crafting effective essay introductions.

Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless,
Hungry,...
Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the
corner with his small family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read,
HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged
and could obviously use help. His right leg had been amputated, so he definitely
needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the charities? The
groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charityimpact on homeless,
hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families,
philanthropic groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing,
and food. First, philanthropic groups should finance programs for medical assistance.
While most middle and upper class workers can afford health care for themselves and
their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom the thought of being
committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look for
insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent
in two months time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable
to afford insurance, but one in specific is the Charity Care Policy at North
Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It is a local charity organization
that benefits the less fortunate. If a patient is below one hundred percent of the
povertyguidelines, which is he or she is eligible to have his or her medical expenses

Vladek Spiegelman
It is human nature to go through difficulties, they shape who we are as people for
good or for bad. It is not the challenges that shape who we are as people, but how
we react and the lesson we take away from our misfortunes. In the story of Maus 1
and 2, we can analyze Vladek Spiegelman and see how his struggles have given us
immense knowledge about humanity, and some of the flaws. In the stories of Maus1
and 2, Art Spiegelmanuses Vladek s dialogue to show that humanity will judge and
deprecate no matter what.
The background story of Vladek is that he is a holocaust survivor who traveled from

Mala and Vladek rarely can cooperate with each other and are constantly fighting
with each other. Whether it is a miniscule detail or a bigger topic they are always
finding a reason to bicker. For instance, while Vladek was over Mala had made
them sandwiches for lunch, and instead of being thankful like he should have been
Vladek criticized and brought Mala down. The dialogue used to express this
situation was Vladek stating Mala could go for a whole evening out with her
friends and leave for me nothing cooked to eat or drink then following with Sigh.
You see how it is? I have now one more time an unnecessary suffering in my life .
From this we can draw that he is agitated that Mala does not care for his every need
like a maid. Vladek was dragging Mala down for leaving without making food only
sometimes and being selfish. Instead of helping himself he has to add on saying an
unnecessary suffering in my life which is expressing what his needs are is more
important than Mala, who he is
The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877
Summary:
Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892,
Pullman strike of 1894, and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise
of industrial capitalism. By 1900, America produced one third of the world s
goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and overcrowded, and became breeding
grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working situations were not
much better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages, locked
fire doors, and allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted
by the way America s economy grew, while its people were left in poor health.
The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic
upper class. Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic
upper class dealt in, and the corruption of politics. The society they showed made
many Americans felt as though the fundamental principles and promises were
violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way to fix the broken society that
many Americans now suffered in.
Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different
focuses ranging from social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis.
There were three areas the movement wanted to reform: efforts to make the
government cleaner (less corrupt and more democratic), attempts to ameliorate the
effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate power.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Unicameral System
1.0.UNICAMERAL LEGISLATURES .
Unicameral legislatures or one chamber are usually deep rooted in countries
structured on a unitary governmental system .Unitary model is different from federal
model where the latter practices distribution of power between central government
and constituent territorial units while power is undivided on central government in
unicameral legislatives system .
Merits of unicameral legislatures includes the ability to enact proposed legislation
speedily because double consideration of measures by two houses is unessential as
there is only one body needed to adopt the legislation . In other words , it is a
simpler form of government . Besides , if legislation fails to pass or if citizens
interests are neglected , legislators cannot criticize the other chamber . Hence , this
proved that they have greater accountability . This model generally found in
geographically small countries with homogenous population of fewer than 10 million
occupants . Therefore, unicameral systems officials member is elected in small

Issues Concerning International Nutrition Essay
Food, Nutrition and Health 355 has provided students an opportunity to tackle the
issue of world hunger. Through the act of making a conscious effort to change
aspects of their lifestyle and inform others during the duration of their time in this
course about issues concerning international nutrition. I have decided to take an
action that will occur for a set period of time. However, there is a possibility that I
could continue this action and make it a lifestyle alteration. I have been a vegetarian
for less than a year after learning about the many negative aspects that are involved in
the slaughter, processing of animals, as well as health concerns that are associated
with consuming meat. However, I am beginning to think that this might... Show more

Grain is perfectly suitable for humans to consume, however, the majority of it is
evidently being used mainly for meat production. Some individuals may argue the
fact that animal proteins are the easiest way to attain necessary levels of protein,
however, cereal crops and other legumes can be combined to provide all necessary
amino acid nutrients needed (Cassidy et al., 2013). Decreasing the consumption of
meat would in turn affect people who are suffering from hunger; global calorie
availability could be increased by 70% by shifting crops away from animal feed
(Cassidy et al., 2013). The justification of using crops for human consumption
rather than animal consumption is reason enough for me to have already switched
to a vegetarian diet. However, I understand that dairy and egg products also play a
part in animal production. Animals still need to be fed whether they are to be
slaughtered, or used for their milk or eggs. Consequently, I am on the path to change
my diet, yet again, to not consume any animal derived food. While my small change
in lifestyle may not affect the whole world, or anyone directly, I do believe that it
will spark discussion and curiosity regarding the purpose behind my choice. These
discussions can possibly lead to debate and enlightenment about the state of our food
system and the actions involved in resolving global hunger. Community awareness

When Alzheimer s knocks at your front door
Alzheimer s is a disease that affects your cognitive and behavior abilities. Millions
of people are diagnose worldwide. It is very common to know someone that has a
love one or friend diagnosed with this disease. However, everything changes when
you happen to know that someone very close to you will be diagnosed with
Alzheimer s, my grandmother.
My memorable journey onto the Alzheimer s world begins in my late twenties. I
used to work as an activity director in a retirement home for senior citizens. I just
knew for protocol that more than a quarter of the total population of the residents was
diagnosed with Alzheimer s as a secondary diagnose.
Every day was a joyful and fun experience for me; the interaction with the residents
was so deep that became a personal on an ethical way. We ve always begin our day
with our daily chair fitness exercises. Every time I did something with them, I have
always put a big, wide and wierd smile on me. Some of the residents would really
appreciated that noble gesture, however, some of them would just tell me what the
hell are you always smiling about , I laughed so hard every time I heard them say
foul language, I knew they did not meant saying that ( I hope so).
I did not quite grasp why they acted like that, or why they were cranky and sad all
the time, until the charge nurse educate me and told me that they act like not because
they want or they mean it, it is because they have Alzheimer s prior
Drug Testing Persuasive Essay
Imagine, you re about to run for the 3200m event until one of the coaches say that
you are required to take a drug test to make sure you do not have any supplements
or additives inside your body. Does the administration have the right to do that and
invade your privacy? Drug testing for high school and college students is something
very controversial for many years and in fact, many people still talk about the topic
today.
Paragraph 1: Well, recently a lot of student athletes have been caught using cocaine,
marijuana, and steroids in their systems. I believe these people should get drug tested
because so we can minimize drug use and make sure these it s not used in these
sports. In my opinion, I believe it s unfair to many other athletes

Leon Leonwood Bean was an avid outdoorsman that decided that he could improve

Acne Blemishing Research Paper
Summary: If you are fed up seeing an acne blemished face, it is wise to opt for a
good acne scar removal treatment.
Acne is a skin ailment that virtually everybody has suffered from at some point in
their life. An individual who has never had a pimple is uncommonness and a
fortunate individual indeed. Maximum of the time, acne is light and can be treated
with over the counter ointments leaving no ill effects. When acne is severe however,
in the situation of cystic acne, blemishing can occur. Acne scars can even befall with
milder acne if an individual picks at their pimples enormously. Squeezing pimples

A World Focused On Climate Change And Sustainable
Development
In a world focused on climate change and sustainable development, many people have
become more interested in the environmentally related behavior of corporations and
have increased their desire for green products. In response to this growing demand,
numerous corporations have shifted to becoming more sustainable and are making
green marketing claims. While some of these companies are actually carrying out
robust sustainability practices, many companies practices do not match up to the
image they convey to the public and are guilty of greenwashing. In fact, a study
conducted by TerraChoice (2010) found that in 2010, over 95 percent of greener
products were found to be greenwashed (6). The term greenwashing stems from
whitewashing, and is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as disinformation
disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible
public image. Advertising plays a major role in shaping consumer behavior, and
companies guilty of greenwashing are educating consumers with false or distorted
information. This is important because the general population s desire to purchase
products that are environmentally friendly is being hampered by the current cloud of
greenwashing allegations, making it increasingly difficult for consumers to
distinguish fact from fiction. Although the upward trend in green consumerism has
affected several industries, it has had a noteworthy impact on the automotive industry,
which has experienced a recent
Major Phases Of A Company Growth
9. The three major phases of a company growth are the entrepreneurial phase, the
managerial phase and the consolidation phase. First, in the entrepreneurial phase a
company focuses on its core activities and on which market paths it should follow.
Moreover, in terms of their facility, its policy can be expected to emphasize on its
functional needs rather than expending resources on symbolic features. Additionally,
there might be some uncertainty regarding the company future and a lack of access
to professional knowledge of space management, which may cause overcrowding and
badly chosen timing of relocation.
Second, during the managerial phase a company still focuses on its fundamental
activities. . However, now the company can now adopt workspace layout reflecting
hierarchical tendencies. In addition, new problem may occur requiring experts
because of special space requirements. Likewise, because of lack of management
focus on the distribution of the space, issues related to facilities and support services
are dealt irregularly.
And third, during the consolidation phase skills in facilities management are
available and use more constantly. Dependence on cross functional teams and
calculated experimentation with teleworking and other alternative work practices can
be expected to imply changes on the layout of the company. Also, companies should
consider to exploit the opportunities to introduce facility management procedures.

The Coward s way A Sound of Thunder (Ray Bradbury) and The Lottery (Shirley
Jackson) are both connected through a specific quality that characters in both stories
contain. That quality is the inability to make good decisions. When faced with
alarming or stressful situations, Eckels, Travis, and the townsfolk in the lottery,
make bad decisions. The townsfolk blunder through their life, blindly following the
unjust tradition to stone someone to death each year. Eckels and Travis are both
cowards, and cowards tend to make bad decisions because they are selfish. Both
stories are connected by these cowardly people that make bad decisions. The lottery
townsfolk are put under pressure by not a person, but by tradition. Tradition makes
them scared, and fear blinds people. Traditions can have many beginnings, but ones
such as this, with no positive result, are simply a terrible decision. However, the
townsfolk believe in tradition, and this pressures them into going along with this
horrible idea. When Mrs. Hutchinson is chosen, she also makes a bad decision. Fear
can cause denial, which, in Mrs. Hutchinson s case, can lead to your death. Instead of
turning tail and running from her fate, she stands and lets the other townsfolk
surround her, simply saying, It isn t fair, it isn t right, (The Lottery). Then simply

Recognizing and rewarding high performance is a key recommendation for any
approach when managing any merit pay program (HRIS 2012). Merit pay is a
compensation system where base pay increases and is determined by an individual
s performance. Using a merit pay plan is a good way for an organization to reward
high performance is one benefit when using merit pay programs. The first step in
implementing or improving a merit pay program is to have a solid performance
management program, and this is another way a merit pay program is beneficial.
Merit pay is a way to be successful and effectively implement merit pay with a uplift
in salaries, and this is a third way using a merit pay program is beneficial to an
organization. There are some drawbacks when using merit pay programs, such as
paying some employees more than others. If you pay high performing workers more
than low performing employees, the high performers may stay, causing the low
performers to complain or leave the organization. A second drawback in using merit
pay program is that employees become less motivated if not paid to their satisfaction.
For example, if employees feel they should be making more money for their
performance, this causes them to have low self esteem, and want to find employment
at other organization. The last drawback associated with
Mortician Career Essay
Within the working force, I myself would like to enter into the career of Mortuary

meaning with the proper requirements and experience you re likely to find a job.
This career requires a mass of knowledge in which you will need to prepare for.
There were frequent steps taken to compile research on this career. Countless

Nick Carraway Unreliable Narrator
In the first chapter of the Great Gatsby, the readers are introduced to the narrator,
Nick Carraway. We learn he was born with wealth and privileges. At an early age he
was taught to put himself in other people s shoes when he felt like judging them.
This statement is to encourage the readers to trust him because he will be telling the
story through his eyes, but in that same statement he criticizes someone. This shows
he might be an unreliable narrator. The story begins when Nick decides to move to a
small house next to Jay Gatsby, a mysterious man in West Egg, Long Island to
become a bond salesman after he served in World War 1. Later, Nick goes to visit his
cousin Daisy, a beautiful, shallow, sophisticated woman and her husband Tom, an
The Reliability Of Eyewitness Testimony
There are many different factors that play a part in the increased chance of a witness
correctly identifying a suspect. Such factors should be brought to the attention of the
jury and the judge to help in properly assessing whether a witness is correctly
identifying a suspect. A study by Magnussen, Melinder, Stridbeck, Raja (2010) found
that of the three different types of people: judge, jury, and general public, that for the
most part all where fairly ill informed on the reliability of eyewitness testimony
with judges having the most. Judges only had about an 8% difference in knowledge
when compared to jurors. With this information it is very clear that education on the
reliability of eyewitness testimony needs to become more of a general knowledge
information for the everyone, especially people who are involved in upholding the
law. Another factor to look into when evaluating the accuracy eyewitness testimony
is the role that memory plays. Memory is divided into three processes: perceiving,
remembering, and recalling information (Simmonsen, 2013). There is plenty of
room in all three of those stages to forget or falsely remember something. Some
factors that play a part when a person perceives an event is the amount of time they
are exposed to the event and the suspect. A study conducted by Horry, Halford,
Brewer, Milne, Bull. (2014) found that witnesses were increasingly more likely to
correctly identify a suspect if they had been exposed to the suspect for sixty
Polygraphs Are Better Than Lying
Polygraphs measure bodily functions in order to evaluate whether or not the subject
is telling the truth. It combines three readings to achieve results: heart/blood pressure,
respiration, and skin conductivity. The heart and blood pressure is measured with a
blood pressure cuff around the wrist, respiration is judged using pneumographs
around the chest, and skin conductivity is found by electrodes placed on the
fingertips. The subject is then asked a series of preliminary questions to set readings
and ensure that the equipment is working. Once the polygraphis set up, the

The Contribution Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Abstract Ludwig Van Beethoven was one of the greatest musical composers of his
time. Starting very young in his studies of music, he held many important positions
they would develop him into the composer he became. Born in Bonn, Germany to a
singer, he held his first position at the church. He later moved to Vienna where his
composed several pieces, and even an opera. He created a new style of music, cyclic
form.
Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 28 March 1827) was one of the greatest
art musicians, and probably had more influence over musical events than any
composer, of his time (Charlton, 2016). He was born in Bonn, Germany to Father
Johann van Beethoven, and named after his grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven.
There is no official record of his birthday, but the church had on file his baptism on
17 December 1770. Because one of his teacher celebrated his birthday on 16
December, his birthday is generally accepted to be on this date. He had seven
brothers and sister, being one of three to survive early childhood. Beethoven s
Grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven (1712 1773), moved to Bonn when he was in
his twenties. He was employed as a bass singer to the Elector of Cologne. In 1761,
he became the music director. Ludwig was father to Johann (1740 1792), his only
son. Johann Beethoven was a tenor singer in the same place has his father. Johann
gave piano and violin lessons in his spare time to assist his income. Johann fell in love
Thomas Edison Contributions
Where would we be today without Thomas Alva Edison? How would our life be
different? Thomas Edison probably did more than any other man to influence the
industrial civilization in the world we live in today. He developed many devices that
greatly influenced life in the United States. Let us explore the life and contributions
of Thomas Edison.
Thomas Alva Edison was born February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio in a humble
brick house that still stands today. Edison was pulled from public school at the age
of twelve and taught by his mother at home. At eleven years old, he had a
chemical lab in the cellar of his parent s home, and at age twelve took a job as a
newspaper boy on a train. He had a chemical lab in a section of a baggage car and
ran a printing press where he made copies of the local newspaper. He also bought
and sold fresh fruit and vegetables along the train route. As you can tell, Thomas
Edison showed a work ethic and knowledge of business transactions that was
unusual for a boy of his age. While working at the train yard, Thomas Edison saved a
little boy who had fallen in the path of a freight car. The boy s father was the station
agent. As a show of thankfulness to Edison, he taught Edison telegraphy. Edison had
been interested in electricity, but telegraphy made him even more interested, and that
led him to his studies and experiments that resulted in some of the world s greatest
inventions.
In 1868 Edison filed his first patented invention, the electrical vote

Abstract: The main aim of this work is to investigate the flame retardant effect of
Myanmar banana pseudostem sap on cotton fabric. The objectives of this work are to
extract the banana sap , to produce the flame retardant fabric with different
concentrations of alkaline BPS (banana pseudostem sap ) ,and to analyse the
produced flame retardant fabrics .Firstly the sap is extracted from the banana stem.
The extracted sap is made alkaline and applied in mordanted cotton fabrics. Then, the
BPS treated fabrics are tested for some physical properties such as weight, and
breaking strength. The results show that the BPS treated ... Show more content on

Inherent and treated are two terms that are used a lot in the flame resistant world.
The term inherently flame resistant fabric is one that is used for fabrics that do not
required the addition of flame retardant chemicals after the yarns have been spun or
the fabric has been woven or knitted. The yarns of these fabric use only fibres that
are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no flame retardant chemicals are
added to the yarn or fabric.
Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have
the flame retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been woven or knitted.
Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic
compounds and they are available in the market. These chemicals and their
application procedures are hazardous, expensive and non eco friendly [4].
Cellulosic cotton textile catches flame readily that is quite difficult to extinguish.
This poses a serious risk to the health and life of a living and damages potential to
textile products. Banana is one of most important and common fruits in Myanmar.
The crop can be grown throughout the country. It grows wild and also cultivated
on a large scale as a field crop as well as backyard crop in household. Banana
pseudostem is abundantly available in Myanmar and it is normally considered as
waste material. It is eco friendly and available from renewable source.
In this work, banana pseudostem sap (BPS) extracted from
Endangerment of African Elephants
The official title of the world s largest land dwelling animal belongs to the elephant,
more specifically, the African elephant. Elephants also are some of the most deadly
animals, which therefore increase the danger of human and elephant interactions. The
more human interactions occur, the more deaths result, whether it is the elephantor the
human who dies. These animals, surprisingly, are socially apt; their trunk is used for
more than just eating and drinking it is used for socializing. They are complex
animals who live in large familial herds females stay with their family throughout
their entire lives while males only stay for approximately fifteen years (Elephant
Protection, 1). Elephantspossess a great memory and only forget what they learn
occasionally and rarely, giving way to the an elephant never forgets saying (Maloiy,
178c). Despite how many people use the beloved saying, elephants may not be
around much longer due to the shortened life span and increased mortality rates. Due
to their incisor teeth, tusks, being extremely expensive and profitable, they are being
murdered for the wealth they carry. This, coupled with the life span shortening
because of malicious treatments and brutal practices reduces the life span of the
African elephant from 56 to 16 years and the Asian elephantfrom 42 to 19 years
(Elephant Protection, 1). According to what the statistics show, elephants may be

Christians Celebrations of Holy Communion Essay
Christians Celebrations of Holy Communion
There are many different ways in which Christians celebrate Holy Communion,
depending on the denomination of Christianity, in which they belong. Holy
Communion is one of the seven sacraments found in Christianity. A sacrament is an
outward physical act with an inward, deeper meaning, which can be obtained through
various, specific rituals. In the case of Holy Communion, which is also known as the
Eucharist meal or Mass, Christian worshippers believe that they receive the body
and the blood of Jesus Christ, through the act of eating the bread, which symbolises
Christ s body, and by drinking the wine, said to be his blood. This sacrament

God sacrificed his son, Jesus, for the good of all people and so that they too would
depart from the slavery and the submission to sins and wrongdoings, in order to
enter into a pure state of forgiveness and freedom. This is the key reason why
Christians, of all branches, hold a great importance to Holy Communion, which
remembers Christ s sacrifice to them, which frees them of their sins up till this day.
Even though, most, if not all Christian denominations agree about the origins of such
a ritual, they now have different opinions about how the service is conducted. The
Roman Catholic Church believes in the idea of transubstantiation, which is the belief
that the bread and wine that they consume at the Eucharist meal, has over the years,
mystically transformed into Jesus real body and blood. Roman Catholics celebrate
Holy Communion or Mass regularly. Roman Catholics believe that the Mass is a
sacrifice. Each time it is celebrated Christ renews the sacrifice that he made for the
sins of the world when he was crucified. This is why they frequently celebrate it. In
some Churches, only people who have been confirmed are allowed to participate in
the celebration of Holy Communion, whereas in the Roman Catholic Church there is
no such restriction. This emphasises how Jesus had welcomed everybody in his own
life and had treated everyone
Examples Of A Non Fictional Anecdote
In my non fictional anecdote, the events that happen are quite plain and there s no
real escalating action. There also isn t a lot of description to the setting and

that I ve forgotten over the years and make the story more appealing by creating
fictional action. Small details can make a story seem more real and The one place
I found the need to add more description to was Newburgh. I exaggerated how bad
it is there, in order to create more of a mood that can be connected with the way I

tried to take memories of it and make it seem like a much more impoverished

memories of the way it looks are very faint, to make it seem like a safer place in

With the current child labor issues growing, some governments have begun acting
to prevent the increase in cases involving this sickening problem. According to
(Duss, 2015), The Congressional budget package released today continues funding

the Department of Labor s impactful and critical program in June 2015. The
International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB) directs the U.S. Government s efforts

children from child labor are thankful for Congressional leadership (par. 1). Child
labor is a growing problem and the ones who have the power and the money need
to stop it as early as now. If the government does not respond appropriately and
rapidly, the ones involved in child labor may think of new ideas and prevent the
government from doing action against them. The rights of these innocent children

will continue as how they started their life, being a part of the working
The Story Of Tom Brennan Analysis
This period of our lives is a one bursting with challenging events and life changing
transitions, don t you think? However testing this phase may be though, it s how we
accept and counteract these alterations that ultimately opens up a deeper
understanding of our world and self. J.C. Burke s thought provoking novel, The Story
of Tom Brennan and John Marsden and Matt Ottley s heartbreaking picture book
Home and away , address this concept of transition and their challenges associated as
each protagonist undergoes a catastrophic journey surrounding a challenged attitude
and the need for maturity development.
This powerful characteristic that transitional phases possess have the potential to be
a rewarding experience, as they provide an individual with the opportunity for
growth and knowledge development through newfound relationships. In The Story of
Tom Brennan , Tom exhibits this through his bond with Chrissy following the dark
trauma he endures caused by his brother Daniel. Initially, Tom feels detached from
his own identity as he refers to himself in third person I missed...simple Tom
Brennan , emphasising his deteriorated mental state. However, the relationship he
forms with Chrissy is instrumental in his recovery as he begins to find himself
again. His passionate tone in Today I kissed Chrissy Tulake, I felt like Tom Brennan
epitomizes how this bond empowers him to assert a stronger sense of personal
identity. Burke, therefore, is able to reveal how transitional

I.Importance of natural method of pest control
The problem with broad range conventional pesticides is that they not only kill the
bad bugs, but they rub out the good bugs, too. A garden without natural predators
means a world of insects gone wild. There s nothing left to keep pest levels in check.
In fact, chemicals can mean double trouble because although you wipe out the first
wave of pests, the second wave which is not the usual pest, but another insect
moving into the area can cause even greater losses than the insects you were trying
to get rid of in the first place. Another reason to go natural and use beneficials, is that
a greater number of insects are now showing resistance to chemical pesticides. For ...

The Main Techniques of Telling a Story in Various Films
The First film I m going to talk about is The Blair witch project which is a story
about 3 teenagers who are filming a documentary about The Blair Witch which is a
legend told for years which is said to be true. They act and talk in dialogue making
the film seem real we can also relate to this film if we have ever filmed ourselves
hanging out with our friends as this is simply what this film does. The characters are
fun to start off with but as they get themselves into more situations they become more
miserable and dramatic.

The casting of the actors was good and was interesting to see the Woman being the
stronger of the three giving out the orders and how her decision was always final
and always looking for someone to blame, didn t like it when she was wrong and
was quite physically strong as she attacks one of her friends as she finds out he
through the map in the pond. She is also the last to crack but when she does she
loses her sense of power and is more feminism with her tears creating emotion and
weakness with the stress of the situation and losing one of the three teenagers as
they wake up they ve disappeared. This role was clear and believable but didn t work
very well as women are still seen as being protected by the men like in all the scream
films there is a woman as a stereotypical type victim.
Propp s theory applies to this film the villain or malefactor being the Blair witch,
there is no hero as the characters end in their bloody deaths in a small house, the
donor is the sources from the locals about the Blair witch, the princess is the three
teenagers, the false hero is the girl as she tries but fails, the Blair witch is also the
dispatcher. This theory clearly shows that the teenagers seek to where they shouldn t
ending with their bloody deaths so there is no hero
The Roman And Roman Rome
The Roman Catacombs
Rome today is a bustling and diverse city teeming with history and culture that dates
back to thousands of years. This rich cultural intertwine is evident with its seeming
myriad of historical monuments, relics, and construction that allude to various
ancient cultures. Rome s ground level environment is truly an architectural, cultural,
and spiritual hearth for things of the past; however, this area is truly only the tip of
the iceberg . Underneath Rome s floors lies a seemingly unending expanse of tunnels
and chambers that makeup The Roman Catacombs. Inside the cavernous pathways
of Rome s catacombs is a plethora of religious and cultural history that provides
historians today with an unfathomable source of early Roman and Christian history.
Regardless of discrepancies over its use and origins, the Roman catacombs are
indispensable for providing insight on the culture, beliefs, and social location of early
Christians. Due to the Roman Catacomb s ancient origins, there are several
discrepancies concerning aspects of the catacombs origin and use. However, there are
several elements of this architectural wonder that are generally accepted among
scientists and archaeologists today. The Roman Catacombs are generally accepted to
have begun construction in the early third century, and stopped use around the fifth
century ( 339 Nature. com). These figures are attained through radiometric dating of

case assignment. A case assignment composed of proposals to numerous companies
pertaining to their pricingstrategy. For products created by their individual

a company that recently developed a new 3D television.
3D television:
A company has produced a state of the art 3D television that contains unique
features, that is different from other 3D televisions currently in the market. This
company acquired a patent on a new technology that doesn t involve the end user to

Due, to the patent and superior technology this company will revel in the advantage
it will gain over other companies for at least a year or two. So, it would be prudent
that this company heeds the following advice, in protecting their interest concerning
the pricing strategy for this advanced 3D television.
Consider your overall marketing goals, such as penetrating new markets with new
products, or maintaining a higher market share with existing products compared to
your closest competitors (Paley, N. 2006). Since, technology is constantly developing

The Advocacy For Lgbt Community
Description of the importance of the topic The topic on the advocacy for LGBT
community in schools among the student community is very important. In most cases
the advocates of LGBTs have tried to persuade schools to improve their environment.
Usually the school environment significantly determines whether the climate in the
schoolis healthy and appropriate for LGBTstudents to learn in (Goldberg and Allen,
2013). Advocating for this community therefore means that school administrators are
likely to adopt ignored programs that may concern the issues of sexual orientation and
gender identity. Such initiatives improve the schooling environment for the diverse
population of all the students regardless of their sexual orientation. Advocating for
the LGBT students helps in fighting discrimination, in regard to the legal
requirements many schools fail to recognize the sexual minority students hence
failing to address issues that affect the safety as well as the educationof the LGBT
students. Advocacy on legal requirement for the schools is for instance based on the
14th Amendment of the US constitution (Jacob, et al. 2011). It states that all the
students are entitled to equal protection under the federal law without any
discrimination. This helps the students attain the education they deserve with no
restrictions. The training of the staff members helps in understanding the sexual
minority students and the use of effective interventions. Through advocacy, the staff

The rapid growth of communication and development of media brought about
changes to the human culture and societies. The study of culture is more complex than

James: I retire in 18 months! I m so sick of this job! I need to find something else
to do after retirement. This job is so political, and stressful, no one gives a ! but the
money I make is good. Currently James is the frustration with his job, however it
has both good and bad points, in which he has stressed to his counselor as he displays
a stage of contemplation.
Counselor: What I am hearing James is you want a job that makes good money like
your current job, however your job is stressful, no one cares about the dangers in
your job, and your uncertain about your upcoming retirement, as to what kind of
income can you generate on a new job that is not so stressful but equivalent to your
current pay. Is that correct James? The Motivational Interviewing principle
demonstrated by the counselor in her response is an example of empathy.
James: I don t like drinking the way I do! However, it helps eliminate stress, and
makes all my problems about the job, kids, finances, and everybody go away for a

What I Had A Year
I had a month to finish my research paper. It was a long term assignment, so I didn t
have to start doing it right away. Surprisingly, I put it off for 26 days and now I
only had 4 days to finish it. Knowing the due date was near; I jumped up on my
table and started to write. Unfortunately, I couldn t believe that picking up a tiny
topic for my paper was a challenging task for me. Then, I decided to shift it into
another day. 3 days left. It was Saturday, so I had to go to work and came home late
at night, too tired to use my brain for anything. Consequently, I ended my day with
a box of pizza and my favorite show on TV. 2 days left. Hey, today is Sunday and I
deserve a day of rest after a hard working week. 1 day left. I had 2 classes today and
came back home late again, so I had to fill my stomach up before starting my paper
because nobody can work well with an empty stomach. Finally, I had to spend all
night for picking a topic, finding information and writing six pages about
procrastination. Since I commit that I am a procrastinator, I want to know more
about procrastination. Plus, I want to understand how procrastination can push me
far away from achieving my goals as well as its negative effects; I decided to make
a research about it. And my question was What is procrastination? I already knew
that almost everyone, especially are college students have procrastinated at least once
in their college lifetime. We either kept on pushing our homework, projects and

kids and pets in your home, you may be worried about using chemical sprays and
baits to keep bugs under control. One solution is to use diatomaceous earth
instead. You can buy it at a store that sells pest control supplies and apply it
yourself. It works on a large variety of bugs such as roaches, spiders, fleas, and
even bedbugs. Here are a few things to know about using this form of DIY pest

If the powder is too thick, the bugs may avoid it rather than walk through it. Also,
if you apply too much on your carpets, your vacuum cleaner may bog down when
you clean your carpet. Using less powder is more effective, but it is difficult to
spread powder lightly unless you use some sort of device. When you buy the
powder at the pest supply store, look for applicators too. There are shakers and bulb
pumps you can buy very inexpensively. These allow you to lightly sprinkle the
powder in your carpets and puff small clouds of powder in crevices where roaches
Safety Net Examples
In America, after you lose your job you can qualify for a safety net. A safety net is
like an insurance for a worker if anything happens in the future with health. An
example of safety net is Medicare, which can help coverage some hospital bill and
medicines. It is very different from Medical because it coverages all your health
insurance, but medicare is like half of medical. When you work at a job, you have
to pay for a small amount of medical or Medicare every month and you can have a
good medical insurance provide from your work but it all depends. The best thing to
do is pay the payment every month, then paying for something that you want. Having
a full insurance is a good and safe way to protect yourself in the future. Safety net

If you get a job that pays less than what you were working is still better than
nothing. Unemployment tries to reach everyone with jobs it takes a person s
decision to take it or not. The author tries to give a point by exampling, The results
suggest a hump shape response of unemployment duration over the one year pre
unemployment wage distribution; individuals at the bottom and top of the wage
distribution reacted less than those in the interquartile range (Centeno). Some
people do not accept the job they get because they are lower income then the job
they have been working. The people who try to find jobs for themselves, try to
find good and official jobs so they do not need to worry of getting laid off. There
are good state jobs but you need to be quality for it or taking care of ill people is
another good job. Find a job that you can work with full honesty and not back out
responsibilities. In any case,it explains, It is a federal state partnership to provide
short term cash benefits to people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
As such, the number of claims varies strongly with the business cycle (Lindner).
You don t get to decide about how much payment you get for unemployment it is
decided by the state. The state check your history of working throughout the year
and he also depends on your age. People like elders who can not work do get
payments for their needs from the government because
The Final Solution from Witnesses to the Holocaust
The years of 1941 and 1942 paint a vivid description of ugly, taking place events
too hard to take in, and the death of 6 million innocent people. The Final Solution in
an excerpt from Witnesses to the Holocaust: An Oral History, where Sam Bankhalter
and Hinda Kibort detail their horrifying account of Hitler s rash and day to day life in
the Nazi concentration camps where they were imprisoned. The Final Solutionwas a
plan systematically matriculated by the Nazi to exterminate European Jews by
placing them in work camps designed for certain death.
Sam Bankhalter was just fourteen at the time when he was captured by the Nazis
in his native land of Poland and exiled to Auschwitz. In a detailed account he paints
the picture of life as a Jew during Hitler s fury and the unimaginable accounts of
terror that occurred. According to Bankhalter, racism of European Jews was
already occurring in Poland even before Hitler invaded, and their slogan was Jew
get out of here and go to Palestine. He accounts of being beaten and spit on the
school grounds on a daily basis, long before Hitler invaded. Bankhalter describes his
journey to the ghetto as laced with barbed wire and Nazi mocking Jews cutting off
men s beards and beating them as they yelled at the Jews to assemble. The Nazi s
only gave them about twenty minutes to pack, leaving them time to only gather the
necessities, which would only be stripped from them later. Bankhalter was only in the
ghetto for a short time, and then sent

  • 2. Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless, Hungry,... Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the corner with his small family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read, HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged and could obviously use help. His right leg had been amputated, so he definitely needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the charities? The groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charityimpact on homeless, hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families, philanthropic groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing, and food. First, philanthropic groups should finance programs for medical assistance. While most middle and upper class workers can afford health care for themselves and their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom the thought of being committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look for insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent in two months time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable to afford insurance, but one in specific is the Charity Care Policy at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877 Summary: Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892, Pullman strike of 1894, and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise of industrial capitalism. By 1900, America produced one third of the world s goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and overcrowded, and became breeding grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working situations were not much better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages, locked fire doors, and allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted by the way America s economy grew, while its people were left in poor health. The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic upper class. Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic upper class dealt in, and the corruption of politics. The society they showed made many Americans felt as though the fundamental principles and promises were violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way to fix the broken society that many Americans now suffered in. Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different focuses ranging from social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis. There were three areas the movement wanted to reform: efforts to make the government cleaner (less corrupt and more democratic), attempts to ameliorate the effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate power. Despite the

Grain is perfectly suitable for humans to consume, however, the majority of it is evidently being used mainly for meat production. Some individuals may argue the fact that animal proteins are the easiest way to attain necessary levels of protein, however, cereal crops and other legumes can be combined to provide all necessary amino acid nutrients needed (Cassidy et al., 2013). Decreasing the consumption of meat would in turn affect people who are suffering from hunger; global calorie availability could be increased by 70% by shifting crops away from animal feed (Cassidy et al., 2013). The justification of using crops for human consumption rather than animal consumption is reason enough for me to have already switched to a vegetarian diet. However, I understand that dairy and egg products also play a part in animal production. Animals still need to be fed whether they are to be slaughtered, or used for their milk or eggs. Consequently, I am on the path to change my diet, yet again, to not consume any animal derived food. While my small change in lifestyle may not affect the whole world, or anyone directly, I do believe that it will spark discussion and curiosity regarding the purpose behind my choice. These discussions can possibly lead to debate and enlightenment about the state of our food system and the actions involved in resolving global hunger. Community awareness and education is the

Such factors should be brought to the attention of the jury and the judge to help in properly assessing whether a witness is correctly identifying a suspect. A study by Magnussen, Melinder, Stridbeck, Raja (2010) found that of the three different types of people: judge, jury, and general public, that for the most part all where fairly ill informed on the reliability of eyewitness testimony with judges having the most. Judges only had about an 8% difference in knowledge when compared to jurors. The term inherently flame resistant fabric is one that is used for fabrics that do not required the addition of flame retardant chemicals after the yarns have been spun or the fabric has been woven or knitted. The yarns of these fabric use only fibres that are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no flame retardant chemicals are added to the yarn or fabric. Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have the flame retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been woven or knitted. Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic compounds and they are available in the market. These chemicals and their application procedures are hazardous, expensive and non eco friendly [4]. Cellulosic cotton textile catches flame readily that is quite difficult to extinguish. Holy Communion is one of the seven sacraments found in Christianity. A sacrament is an outward physical act with an inward, deeper meaning, which can be obtained through various, specific rituals. In the case of Holy Communion, which is also known as the Eucharist meal or Mass, Christian worshippers believe that they receive the body and the blood of Jesus Christ, through the act of eating the bread, which symbolises Christ s body, and by drinking the wine, said to be his blood. God sacrificed his son, Jesus, for the good of all people and so that they too would depart from the slavery and the submission to sins and wrongdoings, in order to enter into a pure state of forgiveness and freedom. This is the key reason why Christians, of all branches, hold a great importance to Holy Communion, which remembers Christ s sacrifice to them, which frees them of their sins up till this day. Even though, most, if not all Christian denominations agree about the origins of such a ritual, they now have different opinions about how the service is conducted. The Roman Catholic Church believes in the idea of transubstantiation, which is the belief that the bread and wine that they consume at the Eucharist meal, has over the years, mystically transformed into Jesus real body and blood. Roman Catholics celebrate Holy Communion or Mass regularly. Roman Catholics believe that the Mass is a sacrifice. Each time it is celebrated Christ renews the sacrifice that he made for the sins of the world when he was crucified. This is why they frequently celebrate it. In some Churches, only people who have been confirmed are allowed to participate in the celebration of Holy Communion, whereas in the Roman Catholic Church there is no such restriction. This emphasises how Jesus had welcomed everybody in his own life and had treated everyone

In most cases the advocates of LGBTs have tried to persuade schools to improve their environment. Usually the school environment significantly determines whether the climate in the schoolis healthy and appropriate for LGBTstudents to learn in (Goldberg and Allen, 2013). Advocating for this community therefore means that school administrators are likely to adopt ignored programs that may concern the issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. Such initiatives improve the schooling environment for the diverse population of all the students regardless of their sexual orientation. Advocating for the LGBT students helps in fighting discrimination, in regard to the legal requirements many schools fail to recognize the sexual minority students hence failing to address issues that affect the safety as well as the educationof the LGBT students.
