Macbeth Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Macbeth Essay Examples" can prove to be a formidable task,
laden with intricate challenges. Assembling a coherent and insightful piece demands not only a
profound understanding of Shakespeare's tragic play but also a keen analytical prowess. The
complexity lies in deciphering the multifaceted characters, unraveling the intricate plot twists,
and delving into the profound themes that permeate the narrative.
One of the primary challenges is striking a delicate balance between summarizing the play and
offering an original interpretation. The abundance of existing analyses and commentaries on
"Macbeth" poses the risk of regurgitating well-worn ideas without injecting a fresh perspective.
To stand out, an essay must navigate the fine line between acknowledging established
interpretations and introducing novel insights.
Moreover, delving into the psychological depths of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth requires a
nuanced understanding of human nature and the motivations that drive characters to their tragic
fates. It involves dissecting the impact of unchecked ambition, the consequences of moral decay,
and the subtle nuances of guilt and remorse. Such exploration demands not only literary acumen
but also a profound grasp of psychological intricacies.
Structuring the essay poses another set of challenges. Balancing the introduction, body
paragraphs, and conclusion while ensuring a logical flow of ideas is akin to orchestrating a
literary symphony. Each paragraph must contribute to the overall harmony, seamlessly
transitioning between arguments and evidence to construct a compelling narrative.
Additionally, the meticulous selection and integration of textual evidence require a discerning
eye. Successfully weaving quotes and excerpts into the fabric of the essay is an art that demands
precision and relevance. Failure to do so can result in a disjointed analysis that fails to convey
the depth of understanding required for a topic as rich as "Macbeth Essay Examples."
In conclusion, tackling an essay on "Macbeth Essay Examples" necessitates a combination of
literary finesse, analytical acuity, and a commitment to presenting a unique perspective.
Navigating the complexities of Shakespeare's masterpiece is no small feat, demanding a writer's
dedication to capturing the essence of the play. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting

Non finalized budgeted government projects and the lack of defense spending is
Lockheed Martin s greatest weakness.
D. Lockheed Martin through the years has acquired other companies under its brand,
essentially making themselves a power house. When these acquisitions and mergers
fail, they become a weakness for the company. One of the most notable merger fails
in the past was one with Northrop Grumman Corp. The Computer Business Review

Lockheed Martin said it had been unable to reach an acceptable settlement with the
US Government over the deal, which would have created a combined company with
revenues of some $37bn. The move was part of the general rush to consolidate in the
defense industry. Los Angeles based Northrop says it now plans to grow its
information technology and services business, which currently contributes $1bn to its
revenues, to double that figure over the next five years.
Lockheed Martin was attempting to consolidate the Defense Industry, in reality they
were trying to put a strangle hold on it. The advantage would have been setting the
market price heavily in their favor since they bought out all the other competitors.

A defining attribute of America s system of government is the participation of the
citizens in decisions. Unlike many countries in the world today, one dictator does
not decide the path for the whole nation. People from ordinary backgrounds have the
opportunity to have an affect on laws passed in our country. While voting is the
more common form of exhibiting this privilege of participation, citizens also have
the ability to run for offices in our government. The structure of our government is
unique in that there are numerous offices to be held within our government which

The president must also enforce the laws set by congress, but the president also has
the power to veto bills that come to him from the Senate for approval.
In Article Two, Section One of the Constitution, there is a list of the qualifications to
become president. To become president, one must be a natural born citizen, thirty
five years of age, and be a resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.
These qualifications are fairly inclusive, which means that the majority of the
American population who are over thirty five years old poses the necessary
qualifications to become president.
The Legislative Branch The second branch of government is the Legislative Branch.
While the structure of this branch is split into two parts, the two sections balance
each other with their functions. The qualifications to be elected into this office are
different for the respective sections.
At the federal level, this branch is structured as a bicameral legislature. The two
houses of congress, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, operate jointly to
pass laws while providing accurate representation of the American population. The
House of Representatives contains 435 members, while the Senate possesses only
100 senators. These uneven amounts are due to the fact that the House of

If the weather is good, they feel good. If it isn t, it affects their attitude and their
performance. Reactive people are affected by social environment. When people treat
them well, they feel well, when people don t, they become defensive or protective.
Reactive people make decision based on their feelings, by conditions, by their
environment. Proactive people are still affected by external stimuli, whether physical,
social or psychological. But their response whether conscious or unconscious, is
valued based choice or response.
Here is an example of how a reactive and proactive people will react: in a meeting
for example a colleague of us directly blame us for a project failure. If we are
reactive, naturally we become defensive and may use words which are not pleasant
to the ears. Once such words are spoken we cannot withdraw them, this will lead to
broken relationship which will take time to heal. On the same situation, being
proactive we will listen and ask for solutions on how we can do better next time. In
the case the meeting becomes more productive and everybody can benefit and learn

Analysis Of Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Throughout his novel Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer s own perspectives shape the
way he tells the story of Chris McCandless. Krakauer s writing style allows for
varying interpretations of the primary motivations of his protagonist, ranging from
sympathizing with Chris to perceiving him as selfish. This is especially evident
when Krakauer describes an interview with Walt McCandless about his son s death
seven weeks after Chris body was found. However, various interpretations of
Krakauer s work can lead to differing points of view on the subject. While Krakauer
s description of Walt s emotional reaction to his son s death could indicate Chris
selfishness in abandoning his family, it could also serve to justify Chris decision
to embark on his journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Krakauer s interview with
Walt McCandless reveals that Chris disappearance into the wilderness had a
negative effect on his family. Walt expresses his grief when he asks the rhetorical
question How is it... that a kid with so much compassion could cause his parents so
much pain? (104). Chris was portrayed by Krakauer as a caring person, and his
decision to leave society was in part spurred by how selfish and greedy people
appeared to be. When he abandoned his friends and family without any hint as to
where he was going or why, he caused his parents great anguish to fulfill his own
quest for purpose. It s ironic that he displayed the very characteristic that he was
supposedly trying to escape from. This question Walt poses is used by Krakauer to
criticize Chris deeply selfish actions by showing the reader his parents point of
view of his odyssey. Krakauer also makes it clear that Chris was very privileged,
having experienced a comfortable upbringing in a rich, well educated family that
loved him. When Krakauer describes the state Chris dead body was found in, he
states that the body was wrapped in a blue sleeping bag that Billie had sewn for
Chris from a kit (104). It is interesting that Krakauer included this detail about the
sleeping bag; that it had been sewn for him by his mother. Why would Chris keep
this with him if he was trying to reject materialism and live solely off of nature, and
why would he keep something that could

The Great Strike Of 1877
The Great Strike of 1877 coming after the heels of the Civil war and in the midst
of a time of economic upheaval in American society, this is not argued, this is the
fact of the time. We now have many primary source documents that we can use to
ask questions and make judgements about this period in American history.
Perhaps most importantly is the everlasting ability of using the media specifically
newspapers during this time period, to sway public opinion. The question a
historian finds himself asking is, if and how are the newspapers used to form and
give the general public not the strikers or the business owners, a bad opinion of the
strikes and a good opinion of the railroad strikers. In a time when live media
coverage of a situation such as these strikes was not easily done, the daily or
weekly editorial was all the news a regular household across America received. They
had to base the majority of their opinion off of these papers. A time period when the
phrase yellow journalism was coined. Looking at our list of sources from this time

A direct democracy or pure democracy is a form of government wherein the citizens
have a direct say.
In a representative democracy is a form of government wherein it s citizens vote for
or elect someone to represent them.
People who are born in the direct or pure democracy have a direct say in laws,
choices, and issues that affect them or they have a problem with.
People born in a representative democracy can only vote for the people that wanted to
be a representative for their city state.
They did both have the chance to vote for who they wanted, because they might not

Finding Truth in Lies in Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell to...
Finding Truth in Lies in A Farewell to Arms
The foundation of Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms is based on lies. Hemingway
exposes the reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant
Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular
assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a
civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancГ©.
The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be
one of the guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not
the morality of the priest. Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where
the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi while the ... Show more content on

Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is
anything but military dress.
Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s
presence in Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American
member of the Italian army. Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in
Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the officials he has been
studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry uses
this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background.
Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments
that Henry only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this
statement: You [Henry] are a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the
role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the patriotic American, then the role of the
concerned observer, while never committing to any one ideology. Rinaldi and the
priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different defining
characteristics.
One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially,
Henry wants Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she
wants to get some. He tells her he loves her with the hope that the declaration will
prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you (30). Once this false

Midsummer Night s Dream Act 2
Act 2 In act 2 Oberon asks Titania to give the little Indian boy. But Titania says that
she will instead hold the boy near to her. Oberon responds by, saying that they will
be at odds until she gives him the boy.Now the dispute between Oberon and Titania
in the fairy realm is used to demonstrate that the subject of loveis currently being out

Act 3 The fairy s magic is one of the central elements of the dreamlike atmosphere of
A Midsummer Night s Dream, and it is fundamental to the plot s progression. It
throws love increasingly out of balance and brings the farce into its most frenzied
state. With the youths love tangle already getting affected by the potion, Shakespeare
creates additional havoc by generating a romance across groups, as Titania falling in
love with the donkey headed Bottom. Obviously, the delicate fairy queen is
dramatically unsuited to the clumsy, monstrous craftsman.

By focusing so much attention on this play within the play, Shakespeare has
plentiful time to reflect on art and culture as a whole.During the fifth act, he has the
time to reflect on his art and to ask the following questions: What is it that makes
great theater? Can anyone be an actor? What kind of person is an excellent audience

complete satire of bad theater and reminds us that being a stage actor is a craft that

Thank You Ma Am Mrs. Jones Character Traits
According to Merriam Webster, the word memorable means worth remembering.
Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones from the short story, Thank You, M am, is an
indelible character because of many outstanding personality traits that she possesses.
Mrs. Jones s authority is one personality trait that shows how significant she is for the
reader. Moreover, her generosity and ability to understand others exemplify how
notable Mrs. Jones is for the readers of the short story. Altogether, it is the
combination of these traits that make Mrs. Jones such an unforgettable character.
It is through Mrs. Jones s impact on others that the reader is able to understand
how noteworthy she is. The first instance of her effect comes when she tells Roger
that she was once in his position. Telling Roger that she was once in his position
makes him feel better because he is not alone. A further example of Mrs. Jones s
guidance comes when she tells Roger about her profession. Although Mrs. Jones

Mrs. Jones was helpful when Roger told her that he had no one at home. She

consideration when she tells Roger he could have just asked for the money. Mrs.

Northern Ireland Research Paper
The troubles of Northern Ireland
The Troubles of Northern Ireland has a long history. King Henry VIII brought Ireland
under British rule during the ninth century. Some hundred years later, King James I
sent settlers to the northern part of Ireland, Ulster. Those settlers were protestants,
while most of the Irish were catholics. During the years, the tension between these
two religious groups led to the division of Ireland. This happened in the start of the
1920s. Most of Ireland was now free from British rule, while Ulster stayed. This was
because most of the people who lived there had British ancestors.
The settlers who had moved to Ireland made out about two thirds of the population of
Ulster. Throughout time, this have been about the same. Most of the protestants of
Ulster were members of the Unionist party. The goal of this party was to keep
Northern Ireland a part of the UK. The protestants had British descent, and were often
landowners.
On the other hand, you had the catholics. They were the rest of the population, about
a third. Many catholics were members of the Social Democratic and Labour party. ...

There are both political and religious reasons for the Troubles, which really started in
the 1960s. The catholics arranged marches and protests to free Ulster from British
rule. This was met with violence from militant protestants. This again led to the
catholics answering with more violence. The protestants started boycotting the
catholic members of the community. Catholics no longer got jobs, they couldn t buy
or rent houses and many other things. All in all, they were no longer deemed as
worthy members of the community. The catholics answered this with violence, and
started the IRA(Irish Republican Army). There were held long term campaigns
against the British government, and the protestant paramilitary groups. The tension
was now so high it was called a
E Voting And Its Effect On Voting
Introduction
E voting is an e government concept that uses the Internet to allow people to vote.
The use of e voting is usually applied by countries and companies. In companies,
this use of e voting can be used in shareholder meetings or other instances where it is
not physically possible for all individuals with a vote to be present.
E voting is a new concept that has recently been used by countries that are not willing
to dedicate the necessary funds to provide paper votes. The use of e voting eliminates
the use of paper and ensures that voter turnout will be higher as it will eliminate
issues with travelling to the voting venue and waiting in any lines that may occur. In
addition, the process of tallying votes will be far faster since e voting will eliminate
the manual counting of votes as well as issues such as the vote counting machine
malfunctioning. E votes will be counted using software designed to tally votes.
The concept of e voting has been analyzed to ensure that it is a fair process. The
fairness of this new type of voting will be critical to its acceptance. However, there
is a portion of the population which feels that the system can be easily manipulated
and argue that the Internet is vulnerable to hacker attacks, something that can lead to
an invalid and unfair result. With advanced technology, it should be relatively easy
for IT experts to devise ways that will ensure that the system will not be hacked.

Westward Expansion Research Paper
The Westward expansion was mainly driven by America s desire to control not
only more land but to expand its territory up to the Pacific Coast. With the country
once divided by certain beliefs and political views were now united with the
Manifest Destiny to come together and expand westward to find new opportunities,
resources, and profit. To encourage the settlement of the West, Congress passed
legislation that enabled settlers to buy land cheaply, and have easy access to land
with mineral deposits and grazing lands (Credo 1). This Westward expansion was
very important to American s economy because it was the largest expansion in US
history, successfully connecting railways from East to West, and discovery of
important resources. The Westward expansion is still considered by historians to not
only be the most important expansion of the United Statesbut also the most
venturous. This expansion was a combination of trade, military force, and discovery
over a period hundred years. By the 1900s the United States more than tripled their
size from less than one million square miles to three millions square miles. The west

As a queer individual, the Queer theory will influence my role in society for most
of my life. The Queer theory is defined as a rejection of the separation of the groups
of different sexual identities and gender identities, and instead groups them together
with the intention of showing the importance of the deviance from social norms. It
claims that sexuality isn t of biological origin, and is a social construct to create an
opposite of the norm, which is heterosexuality and being of the cis gender, meaning

helps people understand the use of Queer as an umbrella term to define anyone

Overall, this topic helps people understand the Queer
All The President s Men Summary
Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward s book, All the President s Men, was written in
1974 during the Watergate Scandal and combines history with journalism. Bernstein

Prize for their coverage of Watergate and have coauthored several bestsellers, which
includes this book. All the President s Men, is about the Watergate scandaland how
they uncovered it.
As this book was written by two journalists, there are differences to a book written
by a historian. The most notable difference is its focus on journalists and how it
makes them look good. The focus of this book is not on Watergate like one would
expect, but on the journalists, who investigated and wrote about it. This book, puts a

Woodward made sure to put an emphasis on the journalistic process as they focus
on how they discover their leads and get in contact with their sources. They make
sure to document how they always introduced themselves and that they worked for

anonymous was stressed. If the sources were revealed like several people tried to

involved would no longer feel safe supplying information to the Washington Post.
This book also mentions how the White House would use non denials as a way to

Endangered Jaguar Research Paper
Saving the Endangered Jaguars A keystone species is a plant or animal that has a
disproportionately large effect in its ecosystem, relative to its size or abundance.
Removing a keystone species from its environment could cause a lot of harm and
damage. One problem Central America is facing is the extinction of plants, animals,
and insects. The main cause is the deforestation that is going on in the Amazon
rainforest which leads to habitat loss. Poaching them for their fur is also a big cause.
One animal that is being harmed by this is the jaguar. When a predator is removed
from its environment, it can cause a trophic cascade of effects in the environment. A
trophic cascade is the effects felt through the ecosystem from the elimination of...

Ntozake Shange
Growing up in the late 20th century, Ntozake Shange witnessed many movements,
such as the sexual revolution, that shaped her outlook on life. After separating from
her first husband, Shange reflects on the limitations society forces on women,
specifically black women. She goes on to proclaim herself a black feminist and her
passion for equality for women became evident in her literary works.1 Lisa Gail
Collins, professor of art at Vassar College with an emphasis on African American
lives, observes that Shange saw the need for female imagery and was determined to
create a new image and reality for people of color, especially women.2 Inspired by the
various liberation movements in the 20th century, Ntozake Shange incorporates
empowering imagery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women began to question the sexual roles society dictated for them and began
thinking of what they desired. At the core of the sexual revolution was the concept
that women, just like men, enjoyed sex and had sexual needs. Feminists demanded
that single women have the freedom to explore their sexual desire and needs as
single men were afforded.3 The importance of sexual independence for black
women is evident in the poem get it and feel good. Shange wants the reader to be
excited about the idea of taking charge in their love life and taking time to explore
their options. Shange proclaims, if you want somebody with guts, you cd go to a
rodeo, a prize fight, or a gang war might be up your alley. There s somebody out
there with something you want, not alla it, but a lil bit from here there can add up
in the long run. 4 Here Shange is demonstrating the importance of women having a
choice of where to find love or someone to give them satisfaction. Even if a woman
does not find what she is looking for right away, she should have the freedom to
explore, an idea inspired by the sexual revolution occurring during Shange s teenage
years that she took with her. Moreover, Shange stirs the reader by visual images that
can be depicted while reading about the various, peculiar places that one can find
The Omnivore’s Dilemma
9/15/11A Well Argued and Impractical Idea In the book, The Omnivore s Dilemma,
by Michael Pollan, Pollan introduces some very interesting ideas and positions
relating to the how and what we eat. Pollan poses the questions: Is America eating
the right kind of food? Is what we are eating healthy? And, where is our food
coming from, how is it treated, and what is in the food we eat? Throughout the book
Pollan places his own argument alongside the answers to these questions. He moves
the reader to reflect on the evidence presented about eating organic foods rather than
processed foods. Pollan also puts forth a compelling, and strong argument that
contains ideas, like food is of higher quality and has better taste when it is not... Show

Pollan accompanied Salatin on Polyface Farm s weekly delivery runs and was able
to talk to some of the cooks and chefs that Polyface supplies. On the delivery run,
Pollan noticed, the chefs had uniformly high praise for the quality of Polyface
produce (251). When asked about the difference in the eggs between Polyface and
the supermarket, one chef replied, The difference is night and day the color and
richness and fat content. ... I always have to adjust my recipes for these eggs you
never need as many as they call for (252). There is testimonial proof that Polyface
Farms generates a quality product that is superior to that of the local supermarket.
Salatin s brother illustrates the quality of his product, he d crack one right into the
palm of his hand, and flip the yolk back and forth from one hand to another to
demonstrate its integrity (252). Salatin claims that his product is better than that of
industrial produce because his farm is as he refers to it, beyond organic (132).
Meaning to truly develop a high quality meat product you can t feed the animals

Confronting the Past, Living the Present, and Enjoying the...
So often, the old adage, History always repeats itself, rings true due to a failure to
truly confront the past, especially when the memory of a period of time sparks
profoundly negative emotions ranging from anguish to anger. However, danger lies
in failing to recognize history or in the inability to reconcile the mistakes of the past.
In her novel, Beloved, Toni Morrisonexplores the relationship between the past,
presentand future. Because the horrors of slavery cause so much pain for slaves
who endured physical abuse as well as psychological and emotional hardships,
former slaves may try to block out the pain, failing to reconcile with their past.
However, when Sethe, one of the novel s central characters fails to confront... Show

Sethe understands that her history, filled with the pain of slavery, grief over losing
her children, and guilt over Beloved s death, and tries to hide from all the anguish.
However, she admits that the past seems to always be there waiting, thereby
emphasizing the idea that past horrors of life continue to haunt forever. It appears
as though the power of her experience in slavery influences her so greatly that the
memory triggers great pain, causing the horrifying incidents to happen again. Even
though Sethe understands that she cannot ever fully escape her history as it will
come back to trouble her, she still tries to avoid them and thus attempts to shield her
daughter from the horrors of history: As for Denver, the job Sethe had of keeping
her from the past that was still waiting for her was all that mattered (45). It seems as
though Sethe tries to deny the fact that history does not simply disappear. She still
tries to protect Denver from the past even though history waits, prepared to cause
trouble and inflict the pain Sethe tries to repress. It appears as though Sethe
continuously tries to fight against her memories and ignore her past in part one. For
example, after she wakes, she begins Working dough. Working, working dough.
Nothing better than that to start the day s
The Time Period Of Transcendentalism
The time period of transcendentalism changed the views of many people through
setting different principles otherwise known as tenets. These tenets I am going to
focus on is: confidence, self reliance, free thought, nonconformity, and the
importance of nature. Transcendentalism was a philosophical movement in the
1800 s where people responded to the strict rules back then. They declared that they
didn t have to follow all of the rules and decided to go off of independent tenets.
Many pieces of literature contain some or all of these tenets, the ones I m going to
discuss and analyze today are Still I Rise by Maya Angelou that focuses on self
reliance and stanza 1 and 52 from Song of Myself by Walt Whitmanwhich focuses on
all tenets of transcendentalism. All of the 5 tenets are very important, but the one that
overcomes all the others in my life is confidence. Many pieces of literature contain
at least all tenets, but reference them in different ways. Although there are tons of
poems out there that contain some of the principles, I focused on Maya Angelou
and her poem Still I Rise. The poem, Still I Rise written by Maya Angelou has a
main focus of self reliance, but can express all tenets of transcendentalism depending
on how you interpret each stanza. Still I Rise is a poem about Maya Angelou relying
on herself and standing up for what she believes in. Throughout the poem, you can
see that self reliance is the most prominent tenet Angelou uses, using repetition to say

There are a large number of possible configurations of engine, electric machine(s)2,
clutches, gearing, and transmissions that can result in an HEV. These are grouped in
four classes in this paper. Based on an examination of the architectures, these classes
are: beltdriven starter/generators on the front of the engine, crank shaft mounted
motor/generators on the rear of the engine, series/parallel hybrids, and combination
hybrids with a mixture of the previous configurations. BELT DRIVEN STARTER

architecture the engine stop start function is implemented with a starter/generator
that is typically belt driven. The Toyota Crown with the Toyota Hybrid System

The Marketing Plan Of Ebay Essay
eBay was founded in Pierre Omidyar s San Jose living room back in September 1995.
It was from the start meant to be a marketplace for the sale of goods and services for
individuals.
In 1998, Pierre and his cofounder Jeff Skoll brought in Meg Whitman to sustain the
success.
Meg had studied at the Harvard Business School and had learned the importance of
branding at companies such as Hasbro.
Meg culled her senior staff from companies such as PepsiCo. and Disney, created an
experienced management team with an average of 20 years of business experience
and built a strong vision for the company that eBay is a company that s in the business
of connecting people, not selling them things.
They quickly shed the image of only auctioning collectibles and moved into an
array of upscale markets where the average sale price (ASP) is higher. ASP is a
key metric in determining eBay s transaction fees, so increasing the ASP became
an important item. By forging partnerships with name brands such as GM, Disney
and Sun, eBay has managed to do exactly that. In addition to its auction style sales,
the website has since expanded to include Buy It Now shopping; shopping by UPC
, ISBN , or other kind of SKU ,online classified advertisements (via Kijiji or eBay
Classifieds); online event ticket trading (via StubHub ); and other services. It
previously offered online money transfers through PayPal which was a wholly
owned subsidiary of eBay from 2002 until 2015. The

kids also enjoy riding dirt bikes and you want to train him to be a good biker? Now,
the kids can also have their own dirt bikes decorated with beautiful dirt bike

Feudal Japan and Ming China were two times in history within these similar
countries, that have been around since ancient times. These countries have similar

people treated other people depending on their jobs and their status. There were the

Just Mercy By Bryan Stevenson
The start of the book, Just Mercy, grabbed me pretty quick, but I was thinking why
are we reading a book about a lost soul who is going to spend his time with people
who are sentenced to die for the horrible crimes they committed? I soon started to
realize the true story was much more than that and I would read a story about right
and wrong and receive a message about the goodness and mercy of humans towards
each other. The story is told by Bryan Stevenson, the author and a graduate of
Harvard Law, who was looking for something bigger to do in his life when he was a
freshman in law school. He found it during an internship in Georgia at the Southern
Prisoners Defense Committee or SPDC, an organization that fought for the basic

Stevenson also writes about teenagers, including Charlie, who are sentenced to life
as adults and serve in horrible conditions. Charlie was 14 and tried as an adult for
capital murder, and the man he killed had just beaten Charlie s mother
unconscious. The case of Charlie introduces Stevenson to mercy in the fact that an
elderly white couple hears Stevenson speak at church and they want to help Charlie
by paying for his GED and college education. The story of misrepresented and
unfairly judged people continues and so does the story of Walter McMillan. The
continued evolution of evidence and the overwhelming number of witnesses who
provide McMillan with an iron clad alibi make you wonder how on earth he could
have ever been found guilty and in the end, with tremendous effort and support
from Stevenson and his team, McMillan is released and the DA drops all charges
against him. The question I kept asking is how many men and women are in jail
today because of bias and poor representation? Bryan Stevenson s story is inspiring
and it should challenge us to get closer to difficult subjects before we cast judgment.
The first connection I made to lecture and the text book came early in Just Mercy
when Stevenson told about his background an upbringing. Stevenson described
southern coastal Delaware, a place you think of as a vacation destination on the
Atlantic coast, based on his experience growing up.
Dreams and Sleep Cycle Essay
Every night approximately seven billion people lay their heads down to sleep.
Many people hoping for an escape from their chaotic lives, wishing to slip away into
a fantasy world that is not based in their own reality. There is a great deal of
research on the topic of dreams being fantasy versus a subconscious reality. Do we
only dreamwhat we know we could never do with our conscious mind or is it all just
outlandish fantasies that will never come to life?
First, to fully understand where we are going when we are talking about dreams we
first need to understand fully the meaning of consciousness and the varying levels that
exists in the human brain. Consciousness is a concept explained by psychologists as

It can be related to the process of our law making system of a bill going through all
the different stages of senate and congress thus making the conscious level of

most choices they make in a day, because it comes down to making correct choices

the basis of what is right and wrong. The final level or thought process is fantasizing
also known to most people as day dreaming. This level of thought process which
everyone in the world does it helps to relieve stress, increases creativity and helps go

Proposed Options for Ending the Foreclosure Crisis
I really didn t know much about foreclosure. So I did some research. I asked many
people of many different ages from eighteen to sixty two. A lot of people said, Just
pay the bill , but that is often easier said then done. Some said they got in over their
heads and were not able to get out. Some also said that their income and credit look
good on paper but did not cut it when it came to paying their bills. Some told me
their income had changed due to losing their jobs or having a spouse pass away.
There are many circumstances that are out of people s control. Attempting to gain
some control over the situation often is better than just praying that nothing bad will
happen.

This forgiveness period would assist with the foreclosures caused by people getting
laid off or having their income decreased. In the long run they would be paying
interest on six months or less twice, but still have a lower payment when they need it.
This plan also allows the banks to make their money, but not at the detriment of the
homeowner. This would also make it easier for the family to focus on getting a job
because they would not have to worry about losing their home as well. I would
think that it would be a horrible thing to be told Oh, you lost your job, but here we
can now take your home from you . This would also make it difficult to fix the
foreclosure crisis. Something has to give to help this situation get better, why not
have people start working together for the good of the situation instead of against
each other for themselves.
Now when dealing with the loss of a spouse, there are a lot of financial difficulties
that accompany the death of a spouse. These costs can include, but are not limited
to the cost of a funeral, medical debt, and still having to pay the normal bills; only
now with one income. Life doesn t stop because a spouse died, and the bills do not
stop either. I am sure that it is not uncommon for a person to want the financial stress
to stop for a while. It would be

Tightening Restrictions On Foreign Students Essay
1.Introduction
A.Conservative party promises 2015
With the newly elected Conservative government planning on tightening restrictions
on foreign students studying in the UK, the populace must be informed as to the
extent of the damage inflict on the economy by foreign students and foreign
graduates who stay in the economy and they must also be well informed as to the
short and long term implications of policy change affecting educational temporary
migration as a party of the overall moving structure that is the United Kingdom.
Studies before anticipated that SMEs and NGOs would be disproportionately
negatively impacted by the reform as compared to other firms, mainly because of
their size (lack of resources

belief that significantly increasing numbers of international student is an achievable
goal
2.Background to UK Post Study Work
A.What the regulations were
In 2008, the UK Government introduced the Points Based System (PBS) through
which immigration into the United Kingdom is regulated to date. In these new
immigration regulations, each applicant must reach a point threshold in order to
qualify for leave to enter the country. With there having been over 80 visa
classifications in place prior to the PBS, its implementation required a complete
restructuring and streamlining of
My Motivation For Choosing A Physical Education
1(a)
I have been involved in sport and fitness from very young age and have a variety of
interests. I have played football since I was 5 years old, and I am also a frequent
gym user. I enjoy watching most sports but mainly football and boxing. I currently
work at the Marriott Hotel running my own swimming lesson business, and also
work as a personal trainer. I completed a level 3 Sport and Exercise Science diploma
4 years ago and now I feel it is time to develop my skills and knowledge to progress
further in the Sport and Fitness industry.
(b)
My motivation for opting to study E112, is to further develop my skills and
knowledge in sport and fitness. I also aim to progress into becoming a physical
education teacher. Throughout this module I would like to be re introduced into
education in sport and fitness as it has been four years since I studied a level 3
sport science course, and I would like this module to help me prepare and study
effectively. As stated above, my ambition is to become a physical education teacher
in a high school, therefore I would like to peruse this degree, and then progress onto
a post graduate degree to become a teacher. E112 links in with both my work in the
fitness industry and my interests as it shows how sport and fitness organisations
operate, whilst also showing the changes in sport over the years whilst giving
different perspectives which is very interesting.

I consider Football to fit into all three categories of sport, recreation and
Number Three
Number Three
The postmodern society is constantly changing. All the old things such as buildings
are replaced with the impeccable modern ones. Just like the former English Teacher,
Miss Coral who is caught between a rock and a hard place. Today people have to be
perfect and everything we are occupied with must be done flawlessly. The author
Anna Metcalfe emphasizes exactly this issue in the short story Number Three , where
Miss Coral is trapped in a culture clash. SheВґs replaced with a so called Real
English Teacher the contemporary ideal person, Mr. James.
Miss Coral is replaced with Mr. James who is supposed to be a better teacher than
her. Her boss says he has done her a favour by making her an international hostess, in

Again the setting plays a major role as it elucidates the main theme, owing to the fact
that it underlines a culture clash.
The main theme of the short story deals with a culture clash between two
completely different societies China and England. Mr. James who comes from
England is a disrespectful, snobbish and an ungrateful person, He arrived to find
the floor carpeted with insect corpses (...) what, his email said, was the school
going to do about this? , (line 122 124). The Englishmen is very arrogant compared
to Miss Coral. The expectancy that he has about the apartment where he is going
to live for the next six months are very different from the one of Miss Coral, She
expects him to be pleased like she would. He takes a quick look around, runs a
palm over the arm of a beige, faux leather sofa and asks when the flat will be
cleaned , (line 53 55). This quotation clarifies the big contrast between England and
China they differ greatly from one another. Miss Coral would have been pleased to
live in such an apartment. Only senior teachers are allowed to live in an apartment
by themselves, Only the most senior teachers get their own apartments , (line 52).
Mr. James appears rude but the protagonist Miss Coral on the other hand is
incredibly enthusiastic about the apartment and its vastness. Contrary to Mr. James
she is very patient and humble even though she is taking in a lot from Mr. James
and her boss, which is a typical behaviour for a Chinese
Unity Of Command Case Study
The Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson stated that 200 National Guard
troops were packed and ready to go to New Orleans, but two days passed before
state officials responded to Richardson s assistance. The Local authorities did not
have emergencies management plans or deliberate risk assessments in place. They
did not analyze or created at least three courses of action to mitigate the situation.
The lack of training, exercises and dealing with emergencies like this magnitude was
crucial for the overall failure of the relief effort. The local authorities lost all
communication with the state officials. State Response At the State level, all
communications among states officials were broke down. The state did not have a

Soon after Katrina made landfall, State and local authorities understood the
devastation was serious but due to the destruction of infrastructure and response
capabilities, lacked the ability to communicate with each other and coordinate a
response. Federal officials struggled to perform responsibilities generally conducted
by State and local authorities, such as the rescue of citizens stranded by the rising
floodwaters, provision of law enforcement, and evacuation of the remaining
population of New Orleans, all without the benefit of prior planning or a functioning
State/local incident command structure to guide their efforts. (Townsend, 2006).
Unity of Command vs. Unified Command: Unity of Command: The concept by
which person within an organization reports to on and only one designated person.
The purpose of unity of command is to ensure unity of effort under one responsible
commander for every objective. Unified Command: An application of the Incident
Command System used when there is more than one agency with incident jurisdiction
or when incidents cross political jurisdictions. Agencies work together through the
designated members of the Unified Command, often the senior person from agencies
and/or discipline participating in the Unified Command, to establish a common set of
objectives and strategies and a single incident action

There are only 20 named volcanoes on mars, 5 of them are shield volcanoes and
Olympus mons is one of them. Olympus mons one of the biggest volcanic
structures in our solar system had been known to astronomers since the late 19th
century as the albedo feature Nix Olympica. Mons is the youngest of the larger
volcanoes on Mars formed during Mars s Hesperian Period. People are always
relating it to the volcanic islands of Hawaii. The last major study about Olympus
Mons was in 2004 with Morris and tanaka, they researched the lavaflow within the
volcanoand volcanic eruption patterns. They discovered many channels, tubes ridges
within the volcano, but they notice that many of these structures are collapsed and
caved in.

Inhalants And Substance Abuse Essay
Most products that can be inhaled are found in your home or workplace. A list of
examples are spray paints, markers, glues, and cleaning fluids. These volatile
substances contain a mind altering property when they are inhaled. These
substances are especially abused by adolescents, and younger children. There are a
few different ways inhalants are abused, a few are breathing them through your nose
or mouth known as huffing. You can also sniff or snort fumes like a glue bottle,
spraying for example computer cleaning dusters directly into nose or mouth. The
high people get from inhalants only last a few minutes so abusers continue to inhale
repeatedly for several hours to prolong the feeling. New users from ages 12 15
usually use glue, shoe polish, spray paints, gasoline, and lighter fluid. People ages 16
17 mostly use nitrous oxide and adults most commonly use inhalants known as
nitrites. Products that are abused as inhalants include... Show more content on

The effects include slurred speech, lack of coordination, and dizziness. Nitrites give
a different feeling and enhance sexual pleasure by dilating and relaxing blood
vessels. Other effects from inhalants are nausea or vomiting, as well as some serious
long term consequences. These long term consequences include liver and kidney
damage, bone marrow damage, and hearing loss. Sniffing highly concentrated
amounts of the chemicals or aerosol sprays can cause heart failure within minutes.
Inhalants are not regulated under the Controlled Substances Act, 38 states in the
United States have placed restrictions on them from the sale and distribution to
minors of certain products that are commonly used. There are laws that exist in
some US states prohibiting the recreational inhalation of nitrous oxide. If you are
caught using any form of inhalants you may be fined up to and no more than 200
dollars or put in prison for no more than 6

While the Second World War had begun, Louis Vuitton had collaborated with the

Democratic And Republican Analysis
The election and how government officials are elected is vital to the United States
identity as a Democratic Republic. To fully understand whether the election is fair to
the average American citizen, these four things need to be looked at and understood;
the Democratic and Republican platforms and who the reader agrees with, the
procedure and requirements for getting on the ballot to be elected into the House of
Representatives, the many different parties of the United States, and the requirements
and procedures for running for president. After each of these questions are
acknowledged, it can be easily inferred that the current electionsystem that is in place,
is fair to American citizens.
When analyzing the differences between the platforms of the Democrats and
Republicans, there are six key issues that differ: wages, education, foreign policy,
gun laws, health care, and the size of government. The issue of wages is most
clearly seen in the issue of minimum wage in that Democrats believe that the current
minimum wage is a starvation wage and must be increased to a living wage. No one

The final and most universal platform of the Democratic party is the belief of the size
of the federal government, the federal government should have a strong role to

Democrats Views on Government Size ). All in all, the Democratic party is
progressive in most aspects and believe in a fair
Tupac Influence
Rap an influential style of music developed in the late 1970 s that spoke poetry
and slang on the topics of life and overall society. One of the monumental artist to
make rap known was the one and only Tupac Shakur. Throughout this essay we will
dive into the origin of Tupac s rise in the music industry, learn about the music
released by Tupac, discuss his style of music, and end on the controversial early
death of Tupac.
To begin with, Tupac Shakurwas raised by his mother Afeni Shakur who was a
Black Panther activist. During that time when she was pregnant with Tupac was in
jail for bombing charges and the father was no were in the picture even when
Tupac grew up to be an adult. Tupac s actual named was Lesane Parish Crooks by
was changed by his moniker to Tupac Amaru Shakur. An interesting fact is Tupac
Amaru means shining serpent. Being raised in New York City in the area of
Brooklyn and the Bronx he witnessed an abundance of hardships by yet found

During Tupac s career his music was influenced by the West coast and East coast
rapper feuds even though Tupac was not even born in West coats he still
represented them with his music. Through the feuds he developed enemies due to
him dissing them on his tracks. It was September 7, 1996 when Tupac was shot
while he was riding in car and from his injuries he died six days later in Las Vegas
Nevada dying at the age of 25. Tupac is still a topic to this due with even after his
death an abundance amount of albums were released which sold millions of copies
and becoming successful. With technology today, he was able to appear at the
Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival through 2 D image. Tupac performed and
appeared by other great rap artist Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg which caused Tupac to

Essay about Alice Walker s Everyday Use
In every family there seems to be a child that is bestowed with all of the positive
aspects of her parents. Unfortunately, for every perfect child there is, it seems that
there is one child that is less talented and less beautiful. In the short story, Everyday
Use , these two character descriptions fit perfectly in relation to the characters of
Dee and Maggie. Dee is the gifted and beautiful child, whereas Maggie seems to
have been left behind by the gene pool and luck. In her short story, Everyday Use ,
Alice Walker utilizes language, the tragedyof the fire burning down Maggie s family
s house, and her portrayal of Dee to pain an extremely sympathetic portrait of Maggie.
Walker s use of language when describing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when contrasted with the description we receive of Maggie, the
description of Dee creates sympathy with the reader because it seems unfair that Dee
would be given the gift of beauty and Maggie was not. The picture is even bleaker
when you factor in that Dee is Maggie s older sister and Maggie probably grew up
realizing how beautiful Dee was, and hoping to one day be just as beautiful. Maggie s
physical scars created by the fire and the description of Dee as beautiful leave the
reader feeling a great amount of compassion for Maggie.
The sympathy allotted to Maggie by the reader is not based solely on her physical
scarring, her lack of intelligence also. These feelings are created by Walker s use
of language when Mama again states, Sometimes Maggie reads to me. She
stumbles along good naturedly by can t see well. She knows she is not bright. Like
good looks and money, quickness passed her by (384 85). There are several terms in
this quotation that help construct sympathetic feelings. First, it is pointed out that
she cannot see well; second, the admission by Mama that Maggie knows that she is
not intelligent; third, the statement that good looks, money, and quickness passed her
by. When these three facts are combined with the physical scarring, it fashions a
portrait of Maggie as a woman that is physically deformed, has a difficulty with her
vision, is
Nellie Bly Research Paper
Elizabeth Jane Cochrane Seaman (a.k.a Nellie Bly) In the world of journalism,
investigative journalism is no stranger. However, years upon years ago, it was
introduced by the most unlikely of journalists: a woman who truly defied all odds.
That woman was Elizabeth Jane Cochrane. Though the future Nellie Blywas raised
under tight circumstances, and had almost no high level education whatsoever,
she managed to be one of the best journalists of her day, to bring forth stunt
journalism, and to give a hope to other women aspiring to write about more than
the common woman s articles. Elizabeth Jane Cochran was born on May 5, 1864
in the small town of Cochran s Mills, PA (Fritz 1). The town was named after her
father, Judge Michael Cochran. As a young child, Elizabeth enjoyed getting lost in
her imagination, and writing fairy tales and fiction stories (Garis 1). Her father died
when she was only six years old, and to support the enormous family of 15, Elizabeth

In Nellie s time, this type of journaling was called stunt journalism. It had never
really been used until Nellie Bly changed the whole outlook on it and showed the

The Maternal And Fear Of The Womb
In Frankenstein, the need to abnegate the maternal and fear of the womb seems to be
an inherent, even subconscious, impetus behind the scientist s choices. Matrophobia
is evident throughout the Gothic where the maternal protector is usually absent;
either deceased like Madame St. Aubert in The Mysteries of Udolpho or imprisoned
like Louisa Bernini in A Sicilian Romance. The mothers that continue to be present
in the narrative are usually oppressed, such as Hippolita in The Castle of Otranto, or
deviant, as Laurina is in Zofloya, where she is the primary cause of all the misfortune
in the novel (Dacre 246). Frankensteinseems to share this desire to eliminate the
maternal but disguises his impulses under the guise of rational thought and logic. For
example, when Frankenstein decides not to fulfill his promise of making a
companion femalemonster, he presents this as a rationalised decision, weighing up
whether he has a right to inflict this curse upon humanity (174). However, a closer
analysis of his reasoning reveals that Frankenstein is primarily preoccupied with the
monstrous fertilityof a female creature since, through her, a race of devils would be
propagated upon the earth (174). We might recall that when creating his male
progeny, Frankenstein was not afraid of a race or new species since he was still the
absolute creator (80). Although the creature has not mentioned offspring,
Frankenstein does not have the actual power of the divine to restrict
Fantastic Movie Trailer
The entertainment industry is one of the most popular forms of recreational
activity for many people. With the movie industry being a large factor of the
entertainment industry, it is no wonder that roughly $36 million is spent solely on
the marketing costs for a movie (McClintock). The movie industry throws so much
money into their movie trailers in an attempt to attract the largest consumer base
possible in order for their movie to have a high profitability. Several different
factors are involved in the process of making a movie trailer and the use of these
factors can drastically affect whether or not the movie trailer becomes a success and
attracts a large consumer base or utterly fails and does not attract a large audience.

By evoking a strong emotion in the viewers the audience instantly becomes more
enticed in what they are watching. In the case of the trailer for Fantastic Beasts
and Where to Find Them the producers chose to make the viewers feel suspenseful
and anxious over the outcome of the movie. The trailer focuses on several different
magical beasts that have escaped a wizard s briefcase and are let loose in New
York City. The trailer gives the viewers brief glimpses of the different types of
creatures and also hints towards the end of trailer that one of the magical creatures
senses danger (Fantastic). This implies that there might be a bigger problem that is
happening besides the creatures running amok. The combination of these things
makes the viewers curious about how the movie will end. This is one of the most
important things to make a viewer feel because curiosity is not an emotion that most
people like to feel so therefore they will go see the movie to find out what the
outcome is. All in all, the movie trailer was effective in provoking suspense,
anxiousness, and curiosity in the potential consumer

Macbeth Essay Examples

  • 1. Macbeth Essay Examples Crafting an essay on the topic of "Macbeth Essay Examples" can prove to be a formidable task, laden with intricate challenges. Assembling a coherent and insightful piece demands not only a profound understanding of Shakespeare's tragic play but also a keen analytical prowess. The complexity lies in deciphering the multifaceted characters, unraveling the intricate plot twists, and delving into the profound themes that permeate the narrative. One of the primary challenges is striking a delicate balance between summarizing the play and offering an original interpretation. The abundance of existing analyses and commentaries on "Macbeth" poses the risk of regurgitating well-worn ideas without injecting a fresh perspective. To stand out, an essay must navigate the fine line between acknowledging established interpretations and introducing novel insights. Moreover, delving into the psychological depths of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth requires a nuanced understanding of human nature and the motivations that drive characters to their tragic fates. It involves dissecting the impact of unchecked ambition, the consequences of moral decay, and the subtle nuances of guilt and remorse. Such exploration demands not only literary acumen but also a profound grasp of psychological intricacies. Structuring the essay poses another set of challenges. Balancing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion while ensuring a logical flow of ideas is akin to orchestrating a literary symphony. Each paragraph must contribute to the overall harmony, seamlessly transitioning between arguments and evidence to construct a compelling narrative. Additionally, the meticulous selection and integration of textual evidence require a discerning eye. Successfully weaving quotes and excerpts into the fabric of the essay is an art that demands precision and relevance. Failure to do so can result in a disjointed analysis that fails to convey the depth of understanding required for a topic as rich as "Macbeth Essay Examples." In conclusion, tackling an essay on "Macbeth Essay Examples" necessitates a combination of literary finesse, analytical acuity, and a commitment to presenting a unique perspective. Navigating the complexities of Shakespeare's masterpiece is no small feat, demanding a writer's dedication to capturing the essence of the play. Lockheed Martin Corporation is an advanced technology firm that is on the cutting edge of research in aeronautics, space, systems and IT technologies. The product of a 1995 merger between Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta Corporation, 80% of Lockheed Martin s market is the U.S. Government through the Department of Defense and intelligence, civilian and Homeland Security organizations. With 2010 sales of $45.8 billion and a $78.2 billion backlog, Lockheed Martin ranked 54th on the Fortune 500 list. The US government is currently operating under a continuing resolution that is effective through March 4, 2011 and its budget for 2011 has not been finalized. Non finalized budgeted government projects and the lack of defense spending is Lockheed Martin s greatest weakness. D. Lockheed Martin through the years has acquired other companies under its brand, essentially making themselves a power house. When these acquisitions and mergers fail, they become a weakness for the company. One of the most notable merger fails in the past was one with Northrop Grumman Corp. The Computer Business Review (CBR) reported: Lockheed Martin said it had been unable to reach an acceptable settlement with the US Government over the deal, which would have created a combined company with revenues of some $37bn. The move was part of the general rush to consolidate in the defense industry. Los Angeles based Northrop says it now plans to grow its information technology and services business, which currently contributes $1bn to its revenues, to double that figure over the next five years. Lockheed Martin was attempting to consolidate the Defense Industry, in reality they were trying to put a strangle hold on it. The advantage would have been setting the market price heavily in their favor since they bought out all the other competitors. The government wasn t naive to what they were doing and it cost Lockheed
  • 3. Of the People, By the People, For the People Essay A defining attribute of America s system of government is the participation of the citizens in decisions. Unlike many countries in the world today, one dictator does not decide the path for the whole nation. People from ordinary backgrounds have the opportunity to have an affect on laws passed in our country. While voting is the more common form of exhibiting this privilege of participation, citizens also have the ability to run for offices in our government. The structure of our government is unique in that there are numerous offices to be held within our government which are relatively equal in power. Officials within the federal government can be categorized as being part of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The president must also enforce the laws set by congress, but the president also has the power to veto bills that come to him from the Senate for approval. In Article Two, Section One of the Constitution, there is a list of the qualifications to become president. To become president, one must be a natural born citizen, thirty five years of age, and be a resident in the United States for at least fourteen years. These qualifications are fairly inclusive, which means that the majority of the American population who are over thirty five years old poses the necessary qualifications to become president. The Legislative Branch The second branch of government is the Legislative Branch. While the structure of this branch is split into two parts, the two sections balance each other with their functions. The qualifications to be elected into this office are different for the respective sections. At the federal level, this branch is structured as a bicameral legislature. The two houses of congress, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, operate jointly to pass laws while providing accurate representation of the American population. The House of Representatives contains 435 members, while the Senate possesses only 100 senators. These uneven amounts are due to the fact that the House of Representative s number of

If we are reactive, naturally we become defensive and may use words which are not pleasant to the ears. Once such words are spoken we cannot withdraw them, this will lead to broken relationship which will take time to heal. • 5. Analysis Of Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer Throughout his novel Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer s own perspectives shape the way he tells the story of Chris McCandless. Krakauer s writing style allows for varying interpretations of the primary motivations of his protagonist, ranging from sympathizing with Chris to perceiving him as selfish. This is especially evident when Krakauer describes an interview with Walt McCandless about his son s death seven weeks after Chris body was found. However, various interpretations of Krakauer s work can lead to differing points of view on the subject. While Krakauer s description of Walt s emotional reaction to his son s death could indicate Chris selfishness in abandoning his family, it could also serve to justify Chris decision to embark on his journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Krakauer s interview with Walt McCandless reveals that Chris disappearance into the wilderness had a negative effect on his family. Walt expresses his grief when he asks the rhetorical question How is it... that a kid with so much compassion could cause his parents so much pain? (104). Chris was portrayed by Krakauer as a caring person, and his decision to leave society was in part spurred by how selfish and greedy people appeared to be. When he abandoned his friends and family without any hint as to where he was going or why, he caused his parents great anguish to fulfill his own quest for purpose. It s ironic that he displayed the very characteristic that he was supposedly trying to escape from. This question Walt poses is used by Krakauer to criticize Chris deeply selfish actions by showing the reader his parents point of view of his odyssey. Krakauer also makes it clear that Chris was very privileged, having experienced a comfortable upbringing in a rich, well educated family that loved him. When Krakauer describes the state Chris dead body was found in, he states that the body was wrapped in a blue sleeping bag that Billie had sewn for Chris from a kit (104). It is interesting that Krakauer included this detail about the sleeping bag; that it had been sewn for him by his mother. Why would Chris keep this with him if he was trying to reject materialism and live solely off of nature, and why would he keep something that could

The Great Strike Of 1877 The Great Strike of 1877 coming after the heels of the Civil war and in the midst of a time of economic upheaval in American society, this is not argued, this is the fact of the time. We now have many primary source documents that we can use to ask questions and make judgements about this period in American history. Perhaps most importantly is the everlasting ability of using the media specifically newspapers during this time period, to sway public opinion. The question a historian finds himself asking is, if and how are the newspapers used to form and give the general public not the strikers or the business owners, a bad opinion of the strikes and a good opinion of the railroad strikers. In a time when live media coverage of a situation such as these strikes was not easily done, the daily or weekly editorial was all the news a regular household across America received. Hemingway exposes the reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancГ©. The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be one of the guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not the morality of the priest. Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi while the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is anything but military dress. Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s presence in Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American member of the Italian army. Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the officials he has been studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry uses this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background. Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments that Henry only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this statement: You [Henry] are a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the patriotic American, then the role of the concerned observer, while never committing to any one ideology. Rinaldi and the priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different defining characteristics. One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially, Henry wants Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she wants to get some. He tells her he loves her with the hope that the declaration will prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you (30). Once this false

Oberon responds by, saying that they will be at odds until she gives him the boy.Now the dispute between Oberon and Titania in the fairy realm is used to demonstrate that the subject of loveis currently being out of balance. Act 3 The fairy s magic is one of the central elements of the dreamlike atmosphere of A Midsummer Night s Dream, and it is fundamental to the plot s progression. It throws love increasingly out of balance and brings the farce into its most frenzied state. With the youths love tangle already getting affected by the potion, Shakespeare creates additional havoc by generating a romance across groups, as Titania falling in love with the donkey headed Bottom. Can anyone be an actor? What kind of person is an excellent audience member? Can unschooled citizens appreciate art? The answers to these questions can alter, but, for the most part, the performance of Pyramus and Thisbe operates as a complete satire of bad theater and reminds us that being a stage actor is a craft that unmistakably requires

Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones from the short story, Thank You, M am, is an indelible character because of many outstanding personality traits that she possesses. Mrs. Jones s authority is one personality trait that shows how significant she is for the reader. Moreover, her generosity and ability to understand others exemplify how notable Mrs. Jones is for the readers of the short story. Altogether, it is the combination of these traits that make Mrs. Jones such an unforgettable character. It is through Mrs. Jones s impact on others that the reader is able to understand how noteworthy she is. The first instance of her effect comes when she tells Roger that she was once in his position. Telling Roger that she was once in his position makes him feel better because he is not alone. A further example of Mrs. Jones s guidance comes when she tells Roger about her profession. • 15. Northern Ireland Research Paper The troubles of Northern Ireland The Troubles of Northern Ireland has a long history. King Henry VIII brought Ireland under British rule during the ninth century. Some hundred years later, King James I sent settlers to the northern part of Ireland, Ulster. Those settlers were protestants, while most of the Irish were catholics. During the years, the tension between these two religious groups led to the division of Ireland. This happened in the start of the 1920s. Most of Ireland was now free from British rule, while Ulster stayed. This was because most of the people who lived there had British ancestors. The settlers who had moved to Ireland made out about two thirds of the population of Ulster. Throughout time, this have been about the same. Most of the protestants of Ulster were members of the Unionist party. The goal of this party was to keep Northern Ireland a part of the UK. • 16. E Voting And Its Effect On Voting Introduction E voting is an e government concept that uses the Internet to allow people to vote. The use of e voting is usually applied by countries and companies. In companies, this use of e voting can be used in shareholder meetings or other instances where it is not physically possible for all individuals with a vote to be present. E voting is a new concept that has recently been used by countries that are not willing to dedicate the necessary funds to provide paper votes. The use of e voting eliminates the use of paper and ensures that voter turnout will be higher as it will eliminate issues with travelling to the voting venue and waiting in any lines that may occur. In addition, the process of tallying votes will be far faster since e voting will eliminate the manual counting of votes as well as issues such as the vote counting machine malfunctioning. • 17. Westward Expansion Research Paper The Westward expansion was mainly driven by America s desire to control not only more land but to expand its territory up to the Pacific Coast. With the country once divided by certain beliefs and political views were now united with the Manifest Destiny to come together and expand westward to find new opportunities, resources, and profit. To encourage the settlement of the West, Congress passed legislation that enabled settlers to buy land cheaply, and have easy access to land with mineral deposits and grazing lands (Credo 1). This Westward expansion was very important to American s economy because it was the largest expansion in US history, successfully connecting railways from East to West, and discovery of important resources. The Westward expansion is still considered by historians to not only be the most important expansion of the United Statesbut also the most venturous. This expansion was a combination of trade, military force, and discovery over a period hundred years. By the 1900s the United States more than tripled their size from less than one million square miles to three millions square miles. The Queer theory is defined as a rejection of the separation of the groups of different sexual identities and gender identities, and instead groups them together with the intention of showing the importance of the deviance from social norms. It claims that sexuality isn t of biological origin, and is a social construct to create an opposite of the norm, which is heterosexuality and being of the cis gender, meaning identifying as the gender designated at birth. After separating from her first husband, Shange reflects on the limitations society forces on women, specifically black women. She goes on to proclaim herself a black feminist and her passion for equality for women became evident in her literary works.1 Lisa Gail Collins, professor of art at Vassar College with an emphasis on African American lives, observes that Shange saw the need for female imagery and was determined to create a new image and reality for people of color, especially women.2 Inspired by the various liberation movements in the 20th century, Ntozake Shange incorporates empowering imagery... At the core of the sexual revolution was the concept that women, just like men, enjoyed sex and had sexual needs. Shange wants the reader to be excited about the idea of taking charge in their love life and taking time to explore their options. Shange proclaims, if you want somebody with guts, you cd go to a rodeo, a prize fight, or a gang war might be up your alley. These tenets I am going to focus on is: confidence, self reliance, free thought, nonconformity, and the importance of nature. Transcendentalism was a philosophical movement in the 1800 s where people responded to the strict rules back then. They declared that they didn t have to follow all of the rules and decided to go off of independent tenets. Many pieces of literature contain some or all of these tenets, the ones I m going to discuss and analyze today are Still I Rise by Maya Angelou that focuses on self reliance and stanza 1 and 52 from Song of Myself by Walt Whitmanwhich focuses on all tenets of transcendentalism. All of the 5 tenets are very important, but the one that overcomes all the others in my life is confidence. Many pieces of literature contain at least all tenets, but reference them in different ways. Although there are tons of poems out there that contain some of the principles, I focused on Maya Angelou and her poem Still I Rise. The poem, Still I Rise written by Maya Angelou has a main focus of self reliance, but can express all tenets of transcendentalism depending on how you interpret each stanza. Still I Rise is a poem about Maya Angelou relying on herself and standing up for what she believes in. Throughout the poem, you can see that self reliance is the most prominent tenet Angelou uses, using repetition to say I

It was from the start meant to be a marketplace for the sale of goods and services for individuals. In 1998, Pierre and his cofounder Jeff Skoll brought in Meg Whitman to sustain the success. Meg had studied at the Harvard Business School and had learned the importance of branding at companies such as Hasbro. Meg culled her senior staff from companies such as PepsiCo. and Disney, created an experienced management team with an average of 20 years of business experience and built a strong vision for the company that eBay is a company that s in the business of connecting people, not selling them things. They quickly shed the image of only auctioning collectibles and moved into an array of upscale markets where the average sale price (ASP) is higher. ASP is a key metric in determining eBay s transaction fees, so increasing the ASP became an important item. By forging partnerships with name brands such as GM, Disney and Sun, eBay has managed to do exactly that. In addition to its auction style sales, the website has since expanded to include Buy It Now shopping; shopping by UPC , ISBN , or other kind of SKU ,online classified advertisements (via Kijiji or eBay Classifieds); online event ticket trading (via StubHub ); and other services. It previously offered online money transfers through PayPal which was a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay from 2002 until 2015. The

  • 37. Proposed Options for Ending the Foreclosure Crisis I really didn t know much about foreclosure. So I did some research. I asked many people of many different ages from eighteen to sixty two. A lot of people said, Just pay the bill , but that is often easier said then done. Some said they got in over their heads and were not able to get out. Some also said that their income and credit look good on paper but did not cut it when it came to paying their bills. Some told me their income had changed due to losing their jobs or having a spouse pass away. There are many circumstances that are out of people s control. Attempting to gain some control over the situation often is better than just praying that nothing bad will happen. I figure the best way to stop foreclosure in the United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This forgiveness period would assist with the foreclosures caused by people getting laid off or having their income decreased. In the long run they would be paying interest on six months or less twice, but still have a lower payment when they need it. This plan also allows the banks to make their money, but not at the detriment of the homeowner. This would also make it easier for the family to focus on getting a job because they would not have to worry about losing their home as well. I would think that it would be a horrible thing to be told Oh, you lost your job, but here we can now take your home from you . This would also make it difficult to fix the foreclosure crisis. Something has to give to help this situation get better, why not have people start working together for the good of the situation instead of against each other for themselves. Now when dealing with the loss of a spouse, there are a lot of financial difficulties that accompany the death of a spouse. These costs can include, but are not limited to the cost of a funeral, medical debt, and still having to pay the normal bills; only now with one income. Life doesn t stop because a spouse died, and the bills do not stop either. I am sure that it is not uncommon for a person to want the financial stress to stop for a while. It would be

The main theme of the short story deals with a culture clash between two completely different societies China and England. The Englishmen is very arrogant compared to Miss Coral. The expectancy that he has about the apartment where he is going to live for the next six months are very different from the one of Miss Coral, She expects him to be pleased like she would. He takes a quick look around, runs a palm over the arm of a beige, faux leather sofa and asks when the flat will be cleaned , (line 53 55). Only senior teachers are allowed to live in an apartment by themselves, Only the most senior teachers get their own apartments , (line 52). Mr. James appears rude but the protagonist Miss Coral on the other hand is incredibly enthusiastic about the apartment and its vastness. However, when contrasted with the description we receive of Maggie, the description of Dee creates sympathy with the reader because it seems unfair that Dee would be given the gift of beauty and Maggie was not. Maggie s physical scars created by the fire and the description of Dee as beautiful leave the reader feeling a great amount of compassion for Maggie. The sympathy allotted to Maggie by the reader is not based solely on her physical scarring, her lack of intelligence also. Matrophobia is evident throughout the Gothic where the maternal protector is usually absent; either deceased like Madame St. Aubert in The Mysteries of Udolpho or imprisoned like Louisa Bernini in A Sicilian Romance. The mothers that continue to be present in the narrative are usually oppressed, such as Hippolita in The Castle of Otranto, or deviant, as Laurina is in Zofloya, where she is the primary cause of all the misfortune in the novel (Dacre 246). Frankensteinseems to share this desire to eliminate the maternal but disguises his impulses under the guise of rational thought and logic. For example, when Frankenstein decides not to fulfill his promise of making a companion femalemonster, he presents this as a rationalised decision, weighing up whether he has a right to inflict this curse upon humanity (174). However, a closer analysis of his reasoning reveals that Frankenstein is primarily preoccupied with the monstrous fertilityof a female creature since, through her, a race of devils would be propagated upon the earth (174). We might recall that when creating his male progeny, Frankenstein was not afraid of a race or new species since he was still the absolute creator (80). Although the creature has not mentioned offspring, Frankenstein does not have the actual power of the divine to restrict
