Lord Of The Flies Savagery Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Lord of the Flies" and its exploration of savagery is a
challenging endeavor that demands a nuanced understanding of the novel's intricate layers. The
task involves delving into the psychological unraveling of the characters, the symbolism
embedded in the narrative, and the overarching theme of civilization versus primal instincts. As a
writer, one must navigate the complexities of human nature depicted in William Golding's work,
analyzing how the descent into savagery unfolds and the impact it has on the boys stranded on
the island.
Moreover, the essay requires a meticulous examination of the author's writing style, narrative
techniques, and the historical context that influenced the creation of "Lord of the Flies." Crafting
a compelling argument demands the ability to connect textual evidence with broader themes,
exploring the implications of savagery on society and individual morality. It necessitates a
critical perspective, with a keen eye for detail and an ability to present a coherent analysis that
goes beyond surface-level observations.
To excel in writing such an essay, one must also showcase an adept command of language and
literary devices. The use of quotes, metaphors, and allegorical elements within the novel should
be seamlessly woven into the essay to strengthen arguments and provide a deeper understanding
of the author's intentions.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies" and its exploration of
savagery is a formidable task that requires a comprehensive grasp of the novel's intricacies. The
writer must navigate the psychological nuances, analyze the symbolism, and delve into the
complexities of human nature depicted in Golding's masterpiece. Crafting a thoughtful and
insightful essay on this topic demands not only literary prowess but also a keen analytical mind.

The Political Power Of Voting
Everyone has a problem with the government, whether it is paying too much in
taxes, military spending or the political power in office. We all for the most part
want to see some sort of change for the better, but rarely does anyone ever exercise a
plan to put that change in motion. Our government using a simple but efficient tactic
can address these types issues purely through the power of voting. Yet over forty
percent of Americans didn t vote in the 2012 presidential elections, as America ranks
twentieth out of twenty one countries in voter turnout. This is rapidly growing into a
serious problem marring our generation and the future of our country. We the
people have the power to show our governing body that we are interested in the
well being of our nation while educating ourselves in the process. Voting is fast,
easy and puts the power into the individual by actively trying to better the United
States. By passing a law that requires all eligible U.S. citizens to vote in all voting
sessions, we will put a stop to voter apathy by completely integrating the entire
nation in American politics. Most people in our society do not hold very much
power with an obvious one percent controlling most of the wealth and influence. Due
to this control, ordinary everyday, working class Americans do not have the
opportunity to be as involved with international, national or even domestic affairs.
Considering how busy most people are, some argue that voting is a waste of valuable
time as
Muslimism In To Kill A Mockingbird
In Harper Lee s novel To Kill A Mockingbird, the reader is introduced to the
extended metaphor of the mockingbird. The mockingbird is symbolic of many
characters throughout the novel. It is a sin to kill a mockingbird, as mockingbird do
nothing but sing and bring joy to the world. Tom Robinson is the main character in
the novel who symbolizes the mockingbirdbecause he is an innocent man who works
hard to help others in any way he can, but because he is black he is treated unfairly.
In today s society many groups of people symbolize the mockingbird just like Tom
Robinson. Both the muslim community and the African Americancommunity are
treated differently because of what they look like.

After the opening ceremony, the athletes stripped down and drew lots to decide
where their starting positions would be or who their combat opponents (Faulkner

opponents (Faulkner 198). The rest of the day is spent watching the boy or
otherwise called the youth games that consisted of twelve to eighteen years olds
competing in the short sprint, wrestling, and boxing (Faulkner 199). On the
beginning of the second day there is another procession, called the Equestrian
Procession, that starts at the Olympic Flame and ending at the Hippodrome

the four horse chariot race, which was introduced in 680 B.C. and was seventy

Internal Assessment Question: How can a popular brand, such as PUMA, increase
sales?
Introduction
PUMA is a German Sportswear company that produces and sells sporting and
casual apparel to athletes and the average person all over the globe. PUMA is
technically a later version of the German sports footwear store, Dassler Brothers
Shoe Factory , founded by the brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler in the early 1920 s.
Dassler Brothers shoe factory very popular in the 1920 s. They had a great amount
of exposure. Famous Athletes wore their products and they were worn in events
that were really a big deal. For example, at the Olympic Summer Games in
Amsterdam in 1928, a lot of the German athletes wore Dassler spikes. In 1936, Jesse
Owens won four gold medals at the Olympic Games in Berlin wearing spikes made
by Dassler. Approximately seven gold medals and five bronze medals were won by
world class athletes wearing Dassler shoes and two World and five Olympic records

One opportunity that opened up in recent times is advanced technology. Through
technology, PUMA is able to get their products out there through websites, and social
media acoounts. Social media is the best way to get the younger generation. This
helps build their market, audience, and gain sponsors for their brand. It also helps
build on strengths like branding and strengthening their management side. Once
PUMA gets ahead and uses things like technology, things will increase. Just the

Fleet Management in Dtc
INTRODUCTION
Fleet management is the management of a company s transportation fleet. Fleet
management includes commercial motor vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks, as
well as rail cars. Fleet (vehicle) management can include a range of functions, such as
vehicle financing, vehicle maintenance, vehicle telemetric (tracking and diagnostics),
driver management, speed management, fuel management and health and safety

These specific tasks encompass all operations from vehicle acquisition to disposal.
Software, depending on its capabilities, allows functions such as driver and vehicle
profiling, trip profiling, dispatch, vehicle efficiency, etc. It can provide remote
control features, such as Geo fencing and active disabling. Current vehicle
diagnostic information can also be related to a management site, depending on the
type of hardware installed in the vehicles. New platform, based on Fleet
management software, is fleet controlling with higher amount of information
available for both drivers and dispatchers of a fleet. At this time (2012) online
software platforms are very popular: users no longer have to install software and
they can access the software through a web browser.
Fleet Security and Control
Recent advances in fleet management allow for the addition of over the air (OTA)
security and control of fleet vehicles. Fleet Security and Control includes security
of the vehicle while stopped or not in operation and the ability to safely disable a
vehicle while in operation. This allows the fleet manager to recover stolen or rogue
vehicles while reducing the chance of lost or stolen cargo. The additional of Fleet
Security and Control to a fleet management system gives a fleet card manager
preventative measures to address cargo damage and loss.

Why Do Penguins Suffer From Climate Change
Introduction
Penguins Are Suffering from Climate Change. Most people in the world can see,
agree, and understand that we have global warming and climate change issues that
affect both plant and animal around the world. We just need to come together on
what needs to be done about global warming and climate change and get it done to
save ourselves, animals and the environment that depend on us to do something. The
biggest problems have been trying to get an agreement on what needs to be done. A

about it now. In the meantime, there are animals, including penguins, plants and other

Martin Luther King Principles Essay
Principles prompt activity, impel motion, direct choices. A principled person
always has a place to stand, knows where he or she is coming from and likely to
end up. Principles always lead the person who possesses them somewhere, for
some purpose, to do something (Byron). Principles serve as the foundation for a
system or belief. To most people, it makes sense that a religion would have a set of
principle beliefs; much less often, however, are the principles of an individual
acknowledged
Martin Luther King Jr. was a prime example of an individual whose strong
principle foundation gave him the means to stand up for his beliefs. Within King s
writing, Letter from Birmingham Jail, he makes a blanket claim of his stance by
stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Injustice anywhere is a
threat to justice everywhere. Simply put, King stands for justice. His principle
belief that every person no matter their race deserve equal access to means propels
him to take action. He realized that there were consequences for his belief
particularly jail. Despite knowing this was where he would undoubtedly end up, he
stood behind his belief that humans of all races deserved to feel dignified and
accepted in society, as well as have equal opportunities for voice and action
(involvement in various outlets).
Having discussed King s general set of principle beliefs, one can now compare them
with those of the Catholic Social Teachingbeginning with The Principle of
Reaction to Castro Announces the Revolution Essay
I do not feel that I know enough about Fidel Castro to be an expert on his life or
how he ruled Cuba, but the little that I do currently know, I would not consider him a
kind and caring man. With that in mind, some of the comments made by Fidel Castro
in Castro Announces the Revolution, were shocking to me, since he tries to make the
point that he cares for the people of Cubaand the revolution was set into motion for
the benefit of the people, not an egotistical leader. At the start of this story, Fidel
Castrorecalls images from his youth of revolutionaries carrying weapons and
demanding that things were done their way. He speaks of the fear of being killed.

He says that if that was the case, then the revolution would not have been worth it.
We know now that is exactly what became of Castro a powerful man that became
the king figure that he so vehemently despised. Castro praises the people of Cuba.
No general can do more than the people. No army can do more than the people.
(342) He comments that the people won the war. Without an army, tanks, planes or
heavy guns, the people were ...able to win the battle for liberty. (342) He states that
the people were important. The revolution does not serve my interests as a person,
nor those of any other commander or captain. The interests the revolution serves
are those of the people. (342) The remarks again refer to the revolution being about
the people as a whole and not of an egotistical leader. Who was Castro trying to
convince of this? Was he trying to convince the people or himself? One of most
shocking statements that Fidel makes is, And I want to tell the people and the
mothers of Cuba that I will resolve all problems without shedding a drop of blood.
(342) Up until this point in time, Castro was surrounded by blood shed. There was
plenty of blood shed during the revolution and after Castro was in control of Cuba,
his brother, Raul Castro, and Che Guevara oversaw the rounding up and executions
of roughly 160 Batista officers (Sweig 39). It is hard for me to comprehend how
Castro could feel that these

The disorder I will be focusing on is Major Depressive Disorder. Major Depressive
Disorder, also known as major depression, has been a continuing health problem for
human beings throughout the course of history. According to documents written by
philosophers, healers and other writers, depression has had a deep rooted existence
dating as far back as the second millennium B.C. At this time, Major Depressive
Disorder was referred to as melancholia. The earliest documentation of melancholia
appeared in the ancient texts of the Mesopotamian population. It was then believed
that all mental illness was a result of demonic possession and could only be healed by
the power of a priest. It was not until much later that the first historical understanding
of depression as a spiritual or mental illness was recorded. According to historical
documentation, populations such as the ancient Greeks, Romans, Chinese and
Egyptian civilizations had controversial thinking about the causes of melancholia, or
depression. The Chinese and Egyptian cultures believed that their mentally ill were
possessed by demons and practiced exorcism techniques such as beatings, restraint
and starvation. Unlike the Chinese and Egyptians, the Romans and Greeks
contributed mental illness and depression to biological and psychological disease.

This aspect increased maritime trade thus increasing the Gross Domestic Product of
nations. Since its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is
comprehensive enough to cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural
risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance company must as a prerequisite employ
financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors herein are referred to as
actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular policy and
prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial
viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions
on the historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade
and natural disaster. Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s
actions. They include, though not limited to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks
are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the insurer. Consequent to this, a
proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the likelihood of
prospective loss. On the other hand, natural risks are derivative of nature. They are
less frequent and very severe. Subsequently, information on the likelihood of loss
and occurrence is minimal. This aspect makes it very difficult to cover natural
disasters. Be that as it may, as will be elaborated, the advent of science and
technology has generated a

Cheeseburger Debate Summary
1. Does the Cheeseburger Bill benefits the fast food chains or is it more for the
benefits of the consumers? How?
The American Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act, commonly called
the Cheeseburger Bill, protects producers and retailers of food and non alcoholic
drinks from lawsuits and class action suits arising from obesity claims. This bill is
more of a benefit to the fast food chains, than the consumer. The bill protects the the
producers and sellers for consumers not taking their own responsibility with regard to
their consumption intake. This bill protects the companies that provide millions of
jobs to citizens. Consumers should take responsibility and use common sense when it

In a comparative fault system, a plaintiff s negligence that contributes to causing the
plaintiff s damages will not prevent recovery, but instead only will reduce the amount
of damages the plaintiff can recover. For example the courts might find McDonalds
to be 30% responsible so that will have to pay 30% of intended claim. However,
McDonalds must found guilty of fault aside from the fault of being the producer
/seller of the product. Contributory fault can pressure corporations to take sufficient
precautions protecting their consumers from harmful products.
3. Should every state establish strict or total liability ? Why?
Yes they should. Every state allows legal claims based on common law strict

Reasons For Australia s Involvement In The Vietnam War
After World War II in the 20th century, the United States and the Soviet Union were
the new Superpowers . These two major nations had two conflicting political
ideologies which were stated as Capitalism and Communism, and this had Australia
right in the middle of the story. Since Australia has very strong ties with the US,
making it even stronger after involving in the Vietnam War and also grew strong
with the SEATO and ANZUS with the fear of the so called domino theory and the
foreign policies which including the Forward Defence Policy. This, however,
allowed Australia to gain a closer chance to go to war in Vietnam. Australia having

Vietnam was the first time Australian conscripts were sent abroad in peace time.
Many protest groups, like Save Our Sons, started off as anti conscription, but
became anti war as the conflict dragged on. Many men started to object to national
service refusing to register or attend when called to serve. After 1968, men could be
imprisoned for refusing to comply with the National Service Scheme. By 1969 the
anti conscription movement was no longer composed of just mothers groups and
university students. It had widespread support across all sections of Australian
society. Major battles had many people wondering if the Vietnam War was, in fact,
winnable and for how long Australian soldiers were going to be involved. One of the
major factors in a growing anti war movement was the reporting of the Vietnam War;
it was a war fought on TV. No one could escape the horrors of what was happening
there. To set a conclusion, this essay shows that Australia feared the threats of
Communist attacks to gain power but since Australia and its allies, US and Britain,
negotiated throughout the conflict and played smart while thinking of the domino
theory so they worked on preventing the enemies troops from gaining access to
Australia s Shores, so they fought in Vietnam to stop the threat having help from

Machismo in Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel...
Characters are made to present certain ideas that the author believes in. In Gabriel

included that range from bold, boisterous characters to minuscule, quiet characters

expected to be machismo. As a woman, Angela Vicario is the epitome of a
traditional Colombian woman. A traditional Colombian woman is expected to be
virgins when they get married; but Vicario defys this social custom causing
Vicario to get softly pushed his wife into [her house] without speaking, (46). These
details emphasize the idea that women are given different standards than men. The
details help highlight Marquez s criticism of how the traditional Colombian
woman is treated as and thought of as. From a very young age Vicario and her
sisters were taught how to do screen embroidery, sew by machine, weave bone lace,
wash and iron, make artificial flowers and fancy candy, and write engagement
announcements, (31). These skills were taught to better prepare the girls for
marriage; displaying the difference in gender roles. Marquez uses parallel structure

Welfare Drug Testing Essay
Public welfare is the term which stands for the variety of tax supported programs
that provide cash assistance or services to residents who are not able to financially
take care of themselves (Hansan, 2011). This program was started in the 1930 s
during the Great Depression. There are several types of welfareincluding health care,
food stamps, child care assistance, cash aid, and housing assistance. Medicaid is
considered to be one of the welfare programs; it is a medical care that provides cash
income assistance for the poor ( Medicaid , 2002). Recipients must meet multiple
requirements that are established prior to receiving aid. The requirements include
low income, child dependency, family size, and any crisis situation such as
pregnancy, unemployment, and medical emergencies (Welfare Information, n.d.). As
of today, some states require welfare recipients to get drug tested when applying for
financial benefits. Arguments arose whether the test should take place or not. Many
people believe that the government should not drug test welfare recipients because
unpleasant consequences occur. Not only does drug testing recipients create chaos
in the U.S. bureaucratic system, it also labels the recipients, creating stigma and
deviance especially if the test comes out positive. Welfare recipients are being
discriminated by society and this may lead to knowledge gaps between the
underclass and other social classes which creates a caste system. Many negative

The people who attended the ceremony were Patricia De Leon, the great

tell. The story about how Martin de Leon colonized Victoria is now being added to
a multi layered exhibit, the Texas Story Project, at the Bullock State History

chose that land because it was near water and it would be good for ranching. He
also chose that land so the people would be happy with it. And wouldn t be mad at

Dual Nature Of Evil In Frankenstein
Appearing in the English language between the 12th and 14th centuries, the word
monster derives from monstrum, a Latin word for an aberration that denotes
something wrong with the natural order. Although mentioning the word monster
usually evokes gruesome images of unhuman creatures that behave both primitively
and aggressively, in reality, the word incorporates so much more, revealing deep
truths about the way humans see themselves and others. In Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein, this contrast between two perceptions of monsters is evident on the
surface, while the story appears to be simply a conflict between Victor Frankenstein,
a man, and his monster, when analyzed closely, there are striking parallels between
the two characters. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite being an innocent figure who poses no threat to the humans he encounters,
the monster is continually beaten and chased away. Even when developing his own
morals and helping the De Lacey family out of good intentions, he can only talk to
the elder De Lacey, who is blind and therefore unable to see the monster, before he is
chased away by Felix. Frankenstein instills in humans what Isaac Asimov in his
novels later calls a Frankenstein complex a fear of beings that closely resemble
humans. From the monster s appearance, humans assume that the monster is an
irregularity, suggesting an irrational fear of the unknown that all humans possess. But
in reality, the monster is one with nature for example, he observes that the moon
rising gave me a sensation of pleasure (88) and tries to imitate the pleasant songs of
the birds (88). Aside from living in nature and using natural resources, the monster
seeks perhaps the most natural goal to have a mate. Thus, from a Romantic
perspective, the monster is actually not a monster at heart, and it is the humans who
are monsters for shunning him from society. Juxtaposed with Frankenstein s
character as he creates the monster reclusive, dogged, and amoral, and again it is
Frankenstein who inspires a greater sense of unease with the reader. But

Human Resource Information System And Human
Resources Essay
1.Human Resource Information System is also known as Human Resource
Management System, which is the integration of information technology and human
resources through Human Resource software. The system enables Human Resource
activities or processes electronically occur.
Human Resource Information System is a technological solution to help corporates
to solve human resource activities through software. Activities include human
resources, accounting, management and payroll. The software also helps in budgeting
costs of human resources more effectively and efficiently. The system also helps in
managing and controlling human resource activities with only reasonable resources.
HRIS also increases the efficiency in making HR decisions in higher quality, as well
as the productivity of both managers and employees.

Phantom Pain Research Paper
The Metal Gear series is known for its captivating cinematic scenes that are
coupled with an absorbing complex plot, but MGSV: The Phantom Pain does
something it s predecessors does not. The Phantom Pain allows you to create these
memorable moments for yourself. Never before in a Metal Gear game has the
gameplay felt so fluid, responsive, and satisfying. Stealth has always been the staple
of the series, but Hideo Kojima has evolved the definition of stealth and incorporated
it into an incredibly massive open world a new for the series.

Instead, cutscenes are too few and far apart and are only a few minutes when they do

Most plot related elements pertain to Venom Snake s current affairs. As a
standalone story, The Phantom Pain does a great job of being accessible to
newcomers to the series but is likely to divide the Metal Gear faithful who are
seeking for more closure. I personally would have enjoyed Metal Gear Solid 4
storytelling coupled with The Phantom Pain s gameplay.
That being said the story cinematics that are present are beautifully produced.
Music in Metal Gear is better than it s ever been. Snake can listen to music found

spectacular visuals and superb voice acting are also best in its class. Venom Snake

1776 David Mccullough Summary
In the non fiction book, 1776, the author, David McCullough, gives you a look
back into the start of the American Revolution, providing a great amount of detail
of the time period. The book takes the reader through a journey of the year 1776,
where the American Revolution really started. The book begins in October of 1776,
where King George III speaks to the British Parliament about the ongoing war against
the American colonies. David starts to layout a map of the characters involved in the
beginning of the war, such as King George III, George Washington, William Howe,
Henry Knox and Nathaniel Greene, and he describes their personality, and other traits
of those characters. McCullough shows both sides of the revolution, and avoids

The victory of this battle was absolutely astounding. The Americans had managed
gain a vital area of the war that gave them a huge advantage. Both the Colonists and
the British knew that Dorchester Heights would give whoever captured it larger
protection. Yet, both sides hesitated to act upon this knowledge. Finally, the
Americans decided to capture it, after developing a brilliant plan. Everything had
been well planned out, yet still kept secret to avoid the enemy learning their plan.
The British were absolutely clueless what was going to happen, which was a key
factor in the American success. On the night of March 4th, Americans began their
plan to move in and capture Dorchester Heights. Troops would begin to bombard
Boston, in order to occupy the British. Meanwhile, 2,000 men would begin their
plan at Dorchester. They began to stack large bales of hay, which kept the British
from being able to see their move on Dorchester at night. Then they would begin to
set up their weaponry. One thing I find absolutely astonishing is how they managed
to remain perfectly silent during this move. The British hadn t even noticed
anything until roughly 10:00 the next morning, and while the Americans were ready
to hold off small arms, the British General Francis Smith decided to ignore it. I
would have to say that his decision was a fatal mistake. When General Howe finally
realized what the Americans had done that night, he exclaimed, My God, these
fellows have done more work in one night than I could make my army do in three
months. I m not sure why, but that quote was very amusing to me. The Americans
had successfully completed their plan, and Dorchester Heights was under their
control. Another huge gain by their accomplishment was the effect it had on the
American army. It brought the hopes up of many soldiers, which, as I learned, was a
key factor in the success of many battles. One thing I
Becoming A Diesel Mechanic Is Not An Easy Task
My mission statement for myself is very simple. I will finish my college degree
and my next associate s degree at Vincennes University. While I am college, I am
going to be working part time. While working, I will be saving money each month
and putting that money into a saving account. When I am a couple months from
graduating, I will begin looking for job near my hometown. I would prefer to work
in a diesel technician shop in Jackson County, Indiana. I then will use my savings to
make a down payment on a house for my wife and I. We will then start working on
the family, the vehicles, and the toys we wantin life. I will then finish working on my
goals that I have not finished yet.
My definition of success is working towards your own goals and achieving those
goals. Time does not matter as long as you achieve those goals.
Becoming a diesel mechanic is not an easy task. Most employers look for a degree
in diesel mechanics. Some colleges offer an associate s degree in diesel repair. I
found myself in college at Vincennes University. Once I graduate, I will never be
done with training. Every day on the job could be another training experience.
I have many passions in my life. Some are trucks, cars, atvs also known as four

Mexican Labor Laws Essay
A Comparative Analysis of Labor Law and Practices between Mexico and the U.S.
Following the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA), many
United States based industries and corporations began investing in plant operations
in Mexico due to the cost cutting efficiencies that Mexican labor offered. Due to a
low cost of production this spurred the growth of Mexican manufactured goods
which were exported and purchased mainly by American consumers. For many of
these businesses it was their first time opening operations in the Central American
country, and American businesses shared concerns over regulatory differences in
U.S. and Mexican labor laws. The scope of this paper is to examine some of the

In the United States workers generally pay into these programs in the form of a tax
in exchange for future benefits; however, in Mexico this burden lies on mainly
employer contributions which total around one third of a workers overall salary
in one year. Mexican employers pay this money to the Mexican Social Security
Institute(IMSS), who oversee worker benefits. (IMSS) funds are obtained
primarily through employer contributions(70%), but also come from
employees(25%) and from the government (5%) (Posthuma, Dworkin, Torres,
Bustillos 2000). Just as in the U.S. all workers must enroll into this program. The
program not only serves as a means of retirement pensions, but also includes full
family medical care, unlike the private insurance system that is more prominent in
the United States. The IMSS is also responsible for social services such as free
child care centers and death benefits. There is also a separate system in Mexico that
is much like the transferable IRA system that is used in the United States. These
additional retirement funds are often managed by a third party such as a bank or
investment firm and employers are required to contribute a minimum of two percent
of one s salary and up to a maximum of twenty five percent on top of employee
Water Purification Essay
Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological
contaminants, suspended solids and gases from contaminated water. The goal is to
produce water fit for a specific purpose. Most water is purified for human
consumption (drinking water), but water purification may also be designed for a
variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical,
pharmacological, chemical and industrial applications. In general the methods used
include physical processes such as filtration, sedimentation, and distillation, biological
processes such as slow sand filters or biologically active carbon, chemical processes
such asflocculation and chlorination and the use of electromagnetic radiation such as
ultraviolet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most deep groundwater does not need screening before other purification steps. 3.
Storage Water from rivers may also be stored in bankside reservoirs for periods
between a few days and many months to allow natural biological purification to
take place. This is especially important if treatment is by slow sand filters. Storage
reservoirs also provide a buffer against short periods of drought or to allow water
supply to be maintained during transitory pollutionincidents in the source river. 4. Pre
chlorination In many plants the incoming water was chlorinated to minimize the
growth of fouling organisms on the pipe work and tanks. Because of the potential
adverse quality effects (see chlorine below), this has largely been discontinued.[3]
Widely varied techniques are available to remove the fine solids, micro organisms
and some dissolved inorganic and organic materials. The choice of method will
depend on the quality of the water being treated, the cost of the treatment process and
the quality standards expected of the processed water.
[edit]pH adjustment
Pure water has a pH close to 7 (neither alkaline nor acidic). Sea water can have pH
values that range from 7.5 to 8.4 (moderately alkaline). Fresh water can have
widely ranging pH values depending on the geology of the drainage basin or aquifer
and the influence of contaminant inputs (acid rain). If the water is acidic (lower
than 7), lime, soda ash, or sodium hydroxide can be added to raise the pH during

all appeals to the pope of rome were forbidden making the King Henry the final

Lil Wayne s Rhetorical Techniques Used In Advertising
2016 was the year that Samsung introduced one of their latest smartphones to their

water resistance ability of their new flagship phone, and what better way to
showcase that ability, than too have one of the most popular living rappers, Lil

This method can either stir up positive or negative emotions in the reader, but
either way its intent is to sell an idea, belief, a product, or to convince the reader to
pick a side. This commercial uses pathos in a couple different ways. Humor is the
most obvious way pathos is being used, it is the setting of the entire commercial.
When Wayne, Max, and his friend on the phone, Kenny, are saying, Whaaaaaat! , it
is meant to be silly and fun. It is even funny just watching them pour champagne on
their smartphones. Humor promotes laughter, and laughter releases endorphins in
our brain that trigger the happy feels, and puts us in a good mood. It is well
known, that if you can get the customer to laugh, then you are more likely to sell to
that customer because laughter helps them drop whatever guard they are putting
up. Another way this ad uses pathos, is by appealing to the fear of dropping our
phone in water and damaging it. We all can relate to this type of accident, and we
are always trying to prevent it, so we don t have to worry about forking out the big
bucks to repair or replace our beloved smartphone. In the commercial, Max pouring
champagne on his phone and it shorting out, is a perfect example of pathos, by
showing us that if you get your phone wet, it will damage it, unless you get the new

Mortgage Fraud And The Big Short By Starring Christian...
Mortgage fraud is one of the costliest, yet seldom prosecuted crimes in the criminal
world. CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in
2012, according to the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends
Report (Gerding, 2013). While these numbers may seem high, the approximate $13
billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would be if every case were to be
prosecuted. Mortgagefraudwas also a major contributing factor towards a national,
and nearly global economic collapse in 2008 when the United States economy saw
the worst recession it has seen since the great depression. Anyone that has seen the
films 99 homes starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon or The Big Short
starring Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling has seen a largely realistic glimpse of
mortgage fraud and how devastating it can be.
White collar crime: Mortgage fraud Traditionally, there are three types of
mortgage fraud that are the most common and well known. These three types are
fraud for profit , fraud for housing and a third type that deals with overestimating a
property s value or submitting a false appraisal (Schmalleger, 2016). A relatively
new fourth type of mortgage fraud that quickly escalated following the economic
crash of 2008 involves a series of scams claiming to save property owners from
foreclosure.
A criminal that commits fraud for profit essentially inquires about a home or
property, makes an offer desirable to the seller and places

Artistry Uncorked Case Study
Artistry Uncorked is a form of entertainment that offers people a place to try
something different. Located near the short north, Artistry Uncorked provides a
unique service for customers to paint and enjoy local beer and wine. These events
will attract a plethora of people from recent graduates to older adults. The
competition has been rising over the years, however most of the sessions do not
include beverages in the fees. Artistry Uncorked will include beverages and
provide a whole new experience compared to Wine and Canvas. Columbus has an
abundant amount of art shows and galleries that would boost the chances of
success for the company. The supplies Artistry Uncorked buys will be recycled to
save on costs to go towards beverages. The beverages served will be locally produced

The more popular Artistry Uncorked becomes, the more opportunities it would
have to grow and expand. With alcohol sales increasing, especially craft beer sales,
the company gains an advantage on the competition by selling local craft beers.
The threat of the mass beer producing companies like Annheiser and Miller will not
be as great s it would have been years ago due to the demand of craft beer. On the
other hand the only service Artistry Uncorked provides is panting essentially. So
expanding to other activities may be tough at first, but through customer feedback
and demand the company would be able to innovate and provide satisfaction. To
attract our target audience, Artistry Uncorked will mainly focus on the uses of online
and event marketing. The online aspect would be used through Facebook, Twitter,
and Instagram. Since the majority of the younger generation have if not one but all
of these accounts, the younger aged adults will be the target. When this demographic
sees the ads on social media, it can then be passed on to friends, family, and others to
advertise the
Inventors In Accidental Genius
Phew! You said that you do not care if you create an invention and it fails. I do not
know what to say because I am so stunned. Things that are created now would not
make sense to anyone 18 years ago or years ago. For example, if you were to ask
someone did they need a portable charger, they would not have any clue what you
were talking about. What can an inventor do to ensure success.
An Inventor can ask people opinion to ensure success. The reason he or she may do
that is because to make sure they do not fail to create an new invention. One way an
inventor can make sure he will succeed is by asking someone will they test out, or
buy their product. For example, in Accidental Genius the author states soon, potato
chips were in demand all
Burger Bar Research Paper
When traveling East down State street, you will come across Bristol s famous sign,
BRISTOL; A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE with bright lights and arrows to point you
to Tennessee and Virginia. The sign happens to sit right on the state line dividing
Bristol, VA and Bristol, TN. Little do people living outside of Bristol know, is that
this great city has a vast history of business, music, art, racing, and food, of course.
What most people come here for is for the extremely popular Bristol Motor
Speedway. It has been around since the 50s, when car racing and drag racing were
popular for family and friends to get together and watch. Though, the speedway didn t
go by Bristol Motor Speedway at the time, but it went by the name of Bristol

The well known Burger Bar has been around since 1942, when it first opened, and
has since then brought visitors into town for a taste of their juicy burgers and
milkshakes. A man called Hank Williams, who was a country singer and song
writer, was reportedly last seen having a meal at Burger Bar before he died. Burger
Bar has named most of their burgers after country music songs and artists, such as
the Hey Good Looking which is named after Hank Williams song from 1951. Just
recently as of 2008, a new bakery has opened in downtown Bristol called Blackbird
Bakery, and takes place on Virginia side serving customers from Abingdon to
Johnson City. They are mainly known for their doughnuts, but you can get other
delicious pastries and coffee to enjoy with friends. Since then additional restaurants
have moved their way into Bristol, adding more variety to the diverse pallets our
community contains. Quaker Steak and Lube and Macados are two of the additions
to the Bristol, VA, TN dining experience,
The future of Bristol looks very bright. We as a community have made strives and
ongoing efforts to revitalize our downtown to remind the younger generations of the
history of our great culture here in east TN and southwest VA. Our community is
compiled of many diversities, but has the cohesiveness of our ancestors
A Short Note On Corporate Credit Card Agreement With...
My most recent negotiation experience was renegotiating my company s corporate
credit card agreement with American Express. In my experience, contract
renegotiation is typically less intensive than the initial negotiation of an agreement
with a new vendor, especially if both parties are happy with the current relationship
and services being provided. However, in this case, there were a few things that made
this negotiation a little different from previous contract renegotiations. First, we had
just been assigned a new account manager. In many of our other vendor relationships,
account managers come and go. However, my organization has had a 32 year long
relationship with American Expressas a corporate credit cardprovider. And, more than
half of this relationship was with our most recent account representative, who we
obviously had a very good relationship with. And, even though I have held various
positions in different departments, I, myself have either been directly or indirectly
involved with this relationship and account manager for the past 10 years. This made
previous negotiations run smoothly. Our general perception was that our account
manager was working in our best interest, which was a tremendous value.
However, we weren t as happy with our newly assigned account manager. He didn t
understand our business or needs as customers, and also didn t seem interested in
learning. Most of our interaction with him was various attempts to try to sell us
The Pros And Cons Of Sexism In Sports
Picture this: A mother is outside, kicking a soccer ball around with her daughter,
while her son is shooting baskets out of the corner of her eye. Both children start
discussing wanting to become professional, star athletes when they re older,
making a ton of money. Little do they know, this large salary dream will most
likely only become true of one of them. Imagine athletes as medals. Society has
placed women, much like this little girl, at a silver, and men, like the older boy, at
gold. No matter how good the women get or how much progress they make, they are
always held back from achieving the same level as the men, stuck once again at silver.
The definition of sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of
sex. Sadly, many women face this everyday when trying to succeed as an athlete. An
example of this would be a women getting paid less than a man or getting worse
coaching than he, even when playing the same sport.
Although some movements are being made to try and help this issue, such as Title
IX, stating that no gender should be discluded from any education program or
activity, helping sexism in youth, high school, and college sports, it is not being
enforced strongly, not making many changes to some of the still standing issues in
the sports world today. The problem can start as young as youth sports and continue
all the way up to the professional level.
Carson Blair, a high school athlete, stated, I think the main difference between
Persuasive Essay About Skydiving
I remember the night it all began. I was coerced out to drink beers with my friend
Justin and my brother Scott. After several cheaply priced libations, and just as if a
gaffer slammed down a marker, they both begin to heckle me about my
agoraphobic behaviors. Mortified, as usual, I began to slither down into the sticky
bar chair like a snake sliding into a dark crevice. The boys conversed in simple
chatter, then an idea came to fruition; it became more and more real as if I were
living in a nightmare. Regrettably, this idyllic conversation was that us three should
go skydiving. Skydiving? I suppose they both did not think that leaping out of an
airplane and freefalling to our death was such a bad idea, especially after slamming
four or five watered down drinks. Just the sound of the words together, sky, and
dive made my bones liquefy. On the other hand, skydiving was the last thing I
wanted to think about since I already had been tremendously scared about having
reconstructive shoulder surgery after being injured while on duty. The surgeon
told me I would not be able to use my entire arm for six weeks; there was a
possibility I could lose feeling in my hand and entire arm since the damage was so
severe. As a result, hearing those possible outcomes of the surgery made me not even
want to go through with it. Unfortunately, I was government property and the Navy
expedited the surgery, therefore I had no say so. Afterward, my fear began to build
strength. My telephone screamed
Puzzle Piece of the Italian Penninsula of Sicily
What is a boot but is not considered a shoe? Located in southern Europe, Italy
depicts one of the world s most recognizable pieces of footwear. With an area of
116, 320 square miles, the Italian peninsula touts a coastline nearly 4,700 miles long.
Northern Italy, which has its boundary marked by the Alps, boarders France,
Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. As it playfully suggests with pointed toe perched
to kick the spherical island of Sicily, Italyrevolves around soccer. The focal point of
socialization and recreation, this sport is beloved by many, including the multi
generational families that inhabit the land. Even Italy s agriculture reflects an
emphasis on enjoyment since wineis one of its most acclaimed goods. Despite initial
struggles, winemaking has become a preeminent agriculture industry in Italy.
Learning the Greek method of utilizing plump, succulent grapes, Italians began
crafting wine around 800 BC (Blashfield, 2014 ed. 122). Although production
quantities burgeoned even from the beginning, Italy s wines were not always
favored. Due to regulation, classification, and production issues, the embryonic wine
industry floundered. Today, however, critical reviews have esteemed Italy s
intoxicating liquid commodity. Shiploads of wine are exported. Jean Blashfield
confirms that Italy produced about 18% of the world s supply in 2010, making it the
the globe s largest wine manufacturer (2014 ed. 122). Economic wealth is attributed
to this enterprise
Gender Stereotypes In The Disney Film Aladdin
The Disney movie Aladdin shows a story of a young princess, Jasmine who is being
forced by her father to find a prince to marry before her next birthday. Jasmine lives
with her father who is ........ And when she gets tired of being forced to remain in the
palace that overlooks the city, she sneaks out the marketplace, where she accidentally
meets Aladdin. Aladdin is a street child who ends up becoming a prince and
Jasmine s prince charming. He does not really hold the title of a prince but instead
as a hero. Throughout the film, Jasmine is shown to be vulnerable girl who is
heroically saved by Aladdin from preventing her to fall off the roof, preventing her
from falling off the magic carpet ride that they go on their first date and having her
arm get cut off at the market after she gives a boy an apple she couldn t afford.
Jasmine has a typical body image that many princesses obtain. She has an hourglass
figure, makeup on and clothes that reveal her narrow body part. Clothing talki ...

Height can make a difference in how you are perceived and treated and this shows
that if you are short, you tend to be viewed as weak and if you are tall then you are

strong and someone to fear. Aladdin physically was not too buffed nor too skinny.
He had pecks which might symbolize that he is physically fit but lacks abs thus
symbolizing that he is not to be taken as a threat. He does take the heroic role in
the film where he gives the starving children the bread he stole to eat and then save
them from being whipped by one of the price s after they got in his way. He also
saves Jasmine from drowning in the sand timer when Jafar makes her his
Operational Failures Occur Within Organizations Across
All...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Operational failures occur within organizations across all
industries, with consequences ranging from minor inconveniences to major
catastrophes. How can managers encourage frontline workers to solve problems in
response to operational failures? In the manufacturing industry, the setting for this
study, operational failures occur due to an internal constraint which is the over use of
one major machine. Using data reported from both the production and sale teams, the
researcher found that problem solving in response to operational failures is
influenced by both the downtime posed by the constraint and the extent to which the
organization incurs a lost. Findings can be used by the organization to increase the
management awareness of the extent to which downtime affects the operation
process and ways by which improvement can take place.. Key concepts include:
Operational failures that trigger more financial and liability risks are associated with
more break down of the machine. By communicating the importance of problem
solving and engaging in problem solving themselves, line managers can stimulate
increased problem solving among workers. Even without managers regular
engagement in problem solving, communication about its importance can promote
more problem solving among workers. By explaining some of the variation in
responsiveness to operational failures, this study empowers managers to adjust their
approach to stimulate more problem solving within the
Changes in Web Standards
Throughout the last decade web developers have been experiencing changes in Web
Standards as well as a different markup language called HTML5. HTML5 a markup
language used for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web.
HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language forms the backbone of almost every site on
the internet. The most important technologies right now are HTMLand devices
evolving HTML platforms (Anglin). Although HTML5 is the most recent updated
markup language today, it has many advantages and disadvantages when it comes
to web development. HTML4, the last major iteration of the language, debuted in
1997 and has been subsequently poked and prodded so that it can handle the
demands of the modern Web (O Brien). In order for web developers to fully
understand the meaning behind HTML5, throughout this article I will be
discussing why HTML5 is such a big deal, what it can actually do, the many
advantages and disadvantages, the benefits that favor HTML5, and arguments it
has for the web today. Have you ever found yourself rolling your eyes when a web
designer or developer talked to you about HTML5, I completely understand. So
why is HTML5 such a big deal in web development today? As it turns out, it really is
something that s exciting and better and could really be worth investing into for your
next Web site project. HTML4 has been tweaked, stretched and augmented beyond its
initial scope to bring high levels of interactivity and multimedia to Web sites
Benefits Of Physical Exercise For Health
Declining physical activity is surprising because in the West, it is often believed
that many people do exercise. It is true that sports circles and newspaper articles
devoted to the benefits of physical exercise for health are more numerous than ever
but, overall, the information related to the usefulness of physical activity seem not
lead to behaviour change (O Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have serious
consequences for public health. In particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing
dramatically throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is not simply a
matter of appearance, causes serious diseases and significantly increases the risk of
diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (O Brien et al 2015). Surveys in various
countries of the European Region show low levels of physical activity in many
populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more
than ever, take care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending
less and less energy. Due to technical progress, even the simplest tasks are
mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O Brien et al 2015). The
fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly
growing from a few years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia,
comprising all sport activities carried out in gyms. From one point of view it is
comparable to the process of hatching and development of modern sport in the 2nd
half of the twentieth century.
Analysis Of Everyday Use
TITLEEEEEEE Everyday Use, centers on the mothers attitude and realization about
her two daughters, Dee and Maggie. The two daughters have different outlooks on
their heritage. The outlooks the two daughters have become troubling situation in the
short story. Dee comes home from college, and rummages through her mother s
things looking for dГ©cor for her apartment. Dee finds two quilts and asks to take
them home with her to hang them on her apartment walls. The mother denies Dee s
request and instead offers to give Maggie the quilts because she will put them to
everyday use instead of using them for just wall dГ©cor. Dee is furious and tells her
mother and Maggie that they do not understand their heritage. Although, some would
say that Dee s intentions were genuine, it is evident that the interpretation in the story
signifies that her desires were materialistic and insincere. The quilts play a big deal in
the short storybecause they are sewed together from past familymembers clothing. A
main theme of the story is how things are used on an everyday basis. The two
daughters have a disagreement about how the quilts should be used. Dee who is a
successful college student thinks that the hand stitched quilts should be used to
display her African American heritage as wall hangings. To Dee, the quilts would
represent an ethnic or historical idea. The author lets the reader question Dee s
genuineness. Dee was offered the quilts before she went away for college but rejected

  • 2. The Political Power Of Voting Everyone has a problem with the government, whether it is paying too much in taxes, military spending or the political power in office. We all for the most part want to see some sort of change for the better, but rarely does anyone ever exercise a plan to put that change in motion. Our government using a simple but efficient tactic can address these types issues purely through the power of voting. Yet over forty percent of Americans didn t vote in the 2012 presidential elections, as America ranks twentieth out of twenty one countries in voter turnout. This is rapidly growing into a serious problem marring our generation and the future of our country. We the people have the power to show our governing body that we are interested in the well being of our nation while educating ourselves in the process. Voting is fast, easy and puts the power into the individual by actively trying to better the United States. By passing a law that requires all eligible U.S. citizens to vote in all voting sessions, we will put a stop to voter apathy by completely integrating the entire nation in American politics. Most people in our society do not hold very much power with an obvious one percent controlling most of the wealth and influence. Due to this control, ordinary everyday, working class Americans do not have the opportunity to be as involved with international, national or even domestic affairs. Considering how busy most people are, some argue that voting is a waste of valuable time as

A principled person always has a place to stand, knows where he or she is coming from and likely to end up. Principles always lead the person who possesses them somewhere, for some purpose, to do something (Byron). Principles serve as the foundation for a system or belief. To most people, it makes sense that a religion would have a set of principle beliefs; much less often, however, are the principles of an individual acknowledged Martin Luther King Jr. was a prime example of an individual whose strong principle foundation gave him the means to stand up for his beliefs. Within King s writing, Letter from Birmingham Jail, he makes a blanket claim of his stance by stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Simply put, King stands for justice. His principle belief that every person no matter their race deserve equal access to means propels him to take action. He realized that there were consequences for his belief particularly jail. Despite knowing this was where he would undoubtedly end up, he stood behind his belief that humans of all races deserved to feel dignified and accepted in society, as well as have equal opportunities for voice and action (involvement in various outlets). No army can do more than the people. (342) He comments that the people won the war. Without an army, tanks, planes or heavy guns, the people were ...able to win the battle for liberty. (342) He states that the people were important. The revolution does not serve my interests as a person, nor those of any other commander or captain. The interests the revolution serves are those of the people. (342) The remarks again refer to the revolution being about the people as a whole and not of an egotistical leader. Who was Castro trying to convince of this? Was he trying to convince the people or himself? One of most shocking statements that Fidel makes is, And I want to tell the people and the mothers of Cuba that I will resolve all problems without shedding a drop of blood. This program was started in the 1930 s during the Great Depression. There are several types of welfareincluding health care, food stamps, child care assistance, cash aid, and housing assistance. Medicaid is considered to be one of the welfare programs; it is a medical care that provides cash income assistance for the poor ( Medicaid , 2002). Recipients must meet multiple requirements that are established prior to receiving aid. The requirements include low income, child dependency, family size, and any crisis situation such as pregnancy, unemployment, and medical emergencies (Welfare Information, n.d.). As of today, some states require welfare recipients to get drug tested when applying for financial benefits. Arguments arose whether the test should take place or not. Many people believe that the government should not drug test welfare recipients because unpleasant consequences occur. Not only does drug testing recipients create chaos in the U.S. bureaucratic system, it also labels the recipients, creating stigma and deviance especially if the test comes out positive. Welfare recipients are being discriminated by society and this may lead to knowledge gaps between the underclass and other social classes which creates a caste system. Many negative effects take place as

  • 21. Dual Nature Of Evil In Frankenstein Appearing in the English language between the 12th and 14th centuries, the word monster derives from monstrum, a Latin word for an aberration that denotes something wrong with the natural order. Although mentioning the word monster usually evokes gruesome images of unhuman creatures that behave both primitively and aggressively, in reality, the word incorporates so much more, revealing deep truths about the way humans see themselves and others. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, this contrast between two perceptions of monsters is evident on the surface, while the story appears to be simply a conflict between Victor Frankenstein, a man, and his monster, when analyzed closely, there are striking parallels between the two characters. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite being an innocent figure who poses no threat to the humans he encounters, the monster is continually beaten and chased away. Even when developing his own morals and helping the De Lacey family out of good intentions, he can only talk to the elder De Lacey, who is blind and therefore unable to see the monster, before he is chased away by Felix. Frankenstein instills in humans what Isaac Asimov in his novels later calls a Frankenstein complex a fear of beings that closely resemble humans. From the monster s appearance, humans assume that the monster is an irregularity, suggesting an irrational fear of the unknown that all humans possess. But in reality, the monster is one with nature for example, he observes that the moon rising gave me a sensation of pleasure (88) and tries to imitate the pleasant songs of the birds (88). Aside from living in nature and using natural resources, the monster seeks perhaps the most natural goal to have a mate. Thus, from a Romantic perspective, the monster is actually not a monster at heart, and it is the humans who are monsters for shunning him from society. Juxtaposed with Frankenstein s character as he creates the monster reclusive, dogged, and amoral, and again it is Frankenstein who inspires a greater sense of unease with the reader. But

The book begins in October of 1776, where King George III speaks to the British Parliament about the ongoing war against the American colonies. The Americans had managed gain a vital area of the war that gave them a huge advantage. Both the Colonists and the British knew that Dorchester Heights would give whoever captured it larger protection. Yet, both sides hesitated to act upon this knowledge. Finally, the Americans decided to capture it, after developing a brilliant plan. Everything had been well planned out, yet still kept secret to avoid the enemy learning their plan. The British were absolutely clueless what was going to happen, which was a key factor in the American success. On the night of March 4th, Americans began their plan to move in and capture Dorchester Heights. Troops would begin to bombard Boston, in order to occupy the British. Meanwhile, 2,000 men would begin their plan at Dorchester. They began to stack large bales of hay, which kept the British from being able to see their move on Dorchester at night. Then they would begin to set up their weaponry. One thing I find absolutely astonishing is how they managed to remain perfectly silent during this move. The British hadn t even noticed anything until roughly 10:00 the next morning, and while the Americans were ready to hold off small arms, the British General Francis Smith decided to ignore it. I would have to say that his decision was a fatal mistake. When General Howe finally realized what the Americans had done that night, he exclaimed, My God, these fellows have done more work in one night than I could make my army do in three months. I m not sure why, but that quote was very amusing to me. The Americans had successfully completed their plan, and Dorchester Heights was under their control. Another huge gain by their accomplishment was the effect it had on the American army. It brought the hopes up of many soldiers, which, as I learned, was a key factor in the success of many battles. One thing I

In the United States workers generally pay into these programs in the form of a tax in exchange for future benefits; however, in Mexico this burden lies on mainly employer contributions which total around one third of a workers overall salary in one year. Mexican employers pay this money to the Mexican Social Security Institute(IMSS), who oversee worker benefits. (IMSS) funds are obtained primarily through employer contributions(70%), but also come from employees(25%) and from the government (5%) (Posthuma, Dworkin, Torres, Bustillos 2000). Just as in the U.S. all workers must enroll into this program. The program not only serves as a means of retirement pensions, but also includes full family medical care, unlike the private insurance system that is more prominent in the United States. The IMSS is also responsible for social services such as free child care centers and death benefits. There is also a separate system in Mexico that is much like the transferable IRA system that is used in the United States. These additional retirement funds are often managed by a third party such as a bank or investment firm and employers are required to contribute a minimum of two percent of one s salary and up to a maximum of twenty five percent on top of employee

This is especially important if treatment is by slow sand filters. Storage reservoirs also provide a buffer against short periods of drought or to allow water supply to be maintained during transitory pollutionincidents in the source river. 4. Pre chlorination In many plants the incoming water was chlorinated to minimize the growth of fouling organisms on the pipe work and tanks. Because of the potential adverse quality effects (see chlorine below), this has largely been discontinued.[3] Widely varied techniques are available to remove the fine solids, micro organisms and some dissolved inorganic and organic materials. The choice of method will depend on the quality of the water being treated, the cost of the treatment process and the quality standards expected of the processed water. Fresh water can have widely ranging pH values depending on the geology of the drainage basin or aquifer and the influence of contaminant inputs (acid rain). If the water is acidic (lower than 7), lime, soda ash, or sodium hydroxide can be added to raise the pH during

When Wayne, Max, and his friend on the phone, Kenny, are saying, Whaaaaaat! , it is meant to be silly and fun. It is even funny just watching them pour champagne on their smartphones. Humor promotes laughter, and laughter releases endorphins in our brain that trigger the happy feels, and puts us in a good mood. CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in 2012, according to the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report (Gerding, 2013). While these numbers may seem high, the approximate $13 billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would be if every case were to be prosecuted. • 43. A Short Note On Corporate Credit Card Agreement With... My most recent negotiation experience was renegotiating my company s corporate credit card agreement with American Express. In my experience, contract renegotiation is typically less intensive than the initial negotiation of an agreement with a new vendor, especially if both parties are happy with the current relationship and services being provided. However, in this case, there were a few things that made this negotiation a little different from previous contract renegotiations. First, we had just been assigned a new account manager. In many of our other vendor relationships, account managers come and go. However, my organization has had a 32 year long relationship with American Expressas a corporate credit cardprovider. And, more than half of this relationship was with our most recent account representative, who we obviously had a very good relationship with. And, even though I have held various positions in different departments, I, myself have either been directly or indirectly involved with this relationship and account manager for the past 10 years. This made previous negotiations run smoothly. Our general perception was that our account manager was working in our best interest, which was a tremendous value. However, we weren t as happy with our newly assigned account manager. He didn t understand our business or needs as customers, and also didn t seem interested in learning. Most of our interaction with him was various attempts to try to sell us

Both children start discussing wanting to become professional, star athletes when they re older, making a ton of money. Little do they know, this large salary dream will most likely only become true of one of them. Imagine athletes as medals. Society has placed women, much like this little girl, at a silver, and men, like the older boy, at gold. No matter how good the women get or how much progress they make, they are always held back from achieving the same level as the men, stuck once again at silver. The definition of sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of sex. Sadly, many women face this everyday when trying to succeed as an athlete. An example of this would be a women getting paid less than a man or getting worse coaching than he, even when playing the same sport. Although some movements are being made to try and help this issue, such as Title IX, stating that no gender should be discluded from any education program or activity, helping sexism in youth, high school, and college sports, it is not being enforced strongly, not making many changes to some of the still standing issues in the sports world today. The problem can start as young as youth sports and continue all the way up to the professional level. Carson Blair, a high school athlete, stated, I think the main difference between
  • 45. Persuasive Essay About Skydiving I remember the night it all began. I was coerced out to drink beers with my friend Justin and my brother Scott. After several cheaply priced libations, and just as if a gaffer slammed down a marker, they both begin to heckle me about my agoraphobic behaviors. Mortified, as usual, I began to slither down into the sticky bar chair like a snake sliding into a dark crevice. The boys conversed in simple chatter, then an idea came to fruition; it became more and more real as if I were living in a nightmare. Regrettably, this idyllic conversation was that us three should go skydiving. Skydiving? I suppose they both did not think that leaping out of an airplane and freefalling to our death was such a bad idea, especially after slamming four or five watered down drinks. Just the sound of the words together, sky, and dive made my bones liquefy. On the other hand, skydiving was the last thing I wanted to think about since I already had been tremendously scared about having reconstructive shoulder surgery after being injured while on duty. The surgeon told me I would not be able to use my entire arm for six weeks; there was a possibility I could lose feeling in my hand and entire arm since the damage was so severe. As a result, hearing those possible outcomes of the surgery made me not even want to go through with it. Unfortunately, I was government property and the Navy expedited the surgery, therefore I had no say so. Afterward, my fear began to build strength. My telephone screamed

Learning the Greek method of utilizing plump, succulent grapes, Italians began crafting wine around 800 BC (Blashfield, 2014 ed. 122). Although production quantities burgeoned even from the beginning, Italy s wines were not always favored. Due to regulation, classification, and production issues, the embryonic wine industry floundered. Today, however, critical reviews have esteemed Italy s intoxicating liquid commodity. Shiploads of wine are exported. Jean Blashfield confirms that Italy produced about 18% of the world s supply in 2010, making it the the globe s largest wine manufacturer (2014 ed. 122). EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Operational failures occur within organizations across all industries, with consequences ranging from minor inconveniences to major catastrophes. How can managers encourage frontline workers to solve problems in response to operational failures? In the manufacturing industry, the setting for this study, operational failures occur due to an internal constraint which is the over use of one major machine. Using data reported from both the production and sale teams, the researcher found that problem solving in response to operational failures is influenced by both the downtime posed by the constraint and the extent to which the organization incurs a lost. Findings can be used by the organization to increase the management awareness of the extent to which downtime affects the operation process and ways by which improvement can take place.. It is true that sports circles and newspaper articles devoted to the benefits of physical exercise for health are more numerous than ever but, overall, the information related to the usefulness of physical activity seem not lead to behaviour change (O Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have serious consequences for public health. In particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing dramatically throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is not simply a matter of appearance, causes serious diseases and significantly increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (O Brien et al 2015). Surveys in various countries of the European Region show low levels of physical activity in many populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more than ever, take care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending less and less energy. Due to technical progress, even the simplest tasks are mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O Brien et al 2015). The fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly growing from a few years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia, comprising all sport activities carried out in gyms. From one point of view it is comparable to the process of hatching and development of modern sport in the 2nd half of the twentieth century.
