Nicaragua between the Sandinista Junta of National Reconstruction, the Nicaraguan government,
and the Contras, a vicious rebel group. The goal of this war was simple, overthrow the Nicaraguan
government and restore freedom for all Nicaraguan citizens. It was this that caught the eye of the
American government and it was not too long before the U.S began to fund the Contras. Although
the United States government funded the contras, they viewed them with skepticism being that
they were extremely controversial.
The U.S president during this time, Ronald Reagan, fell in love with the contras belief system and
fought to keep them funded. Later on the United States support became limited, which left the
president in search of a new way to keep the Contras money flow regular. Soon after, former
president Ronald Reagan and his administrators contrived a way to continue to fund the contras
without the Congress approval. They concluded that selling arms and weapons to a harmless ally
named Iran was the only way to go. They would sell the weapons to Iran in exchange for money,
which would then be put into a secret bank account and sent to the Nicaraguan Contras. This idea

fish and is used to distinguish from different species based on variation, commonality, or
evolutionary divergence. First, proteins are extracted from the tissue and loaded into a gel matrix.
The matrix will separate the proteins according to size using an electric current. Proteins that are
separated after are blotted from the gel and onto a paper membrane. An antibody is then added to
the membrane paper and causes a colored reaction. Following the reaction, the results ... Show more
Following that, a blotting sandwich is made by adding blotting buffer to the container and
inserting the plastic cassette. Lay a wet fiber pad on the black side of the cassette. On top of that
lay a wet blotting paper on the fiber pad and then roll a pen lightly across to get the air bubbles
out. Place the gel on top of the previous layer and then lay a wet nitrocellulose membrane on the
gel. Another wet blotting paper and fiber pad are placed on top of the gel. Once this is complete,
close the cassette and set up the Mini Trans Blot module. Fill with blotting buffer up to the top and
then blot for 2.5 hours at 20V. The last part of this procedure, antibodies will be used to detect one
specific protein from others on the membrane. Incubate the membrane with 10 ml of primary
antibody for 10 20 minutes and then place on a rocking platform. Rinse the membrane quickly
after with wash buffer on a rocking platform. After three minutes is up, discard the wash and
incubate the membrane with 10 ml of secondary antibody for 5 15 minutes on the platform. Rinse
the membrane again shortly after and wash the membrane for three minutes. Next, discard the
wash and add 10 mL of HRP color detection reagent. Incubation will occur after this for 10 30

Mark Strand s poem, Poor North depicts the life of a married couple facing countless struggles
during a harsh winter. It tells of a man working in an unsuccessful store while his wife sits at
home, wishing for her old life back. The way the wife copes with her sadness is both intriguing
and perplexing. She misses her old life, even though it is described to have not been special;
however, the wifemay be a person who never feels satisfied or fulfilled by the external world due
