Amebic Dysentery Research Papers
Amebiasis caused when a single celled parasite called E. histolytica enters the human body when a
person ingests cysts through food or water. It can also enter the body through direct contact with fecal
matter. The cysts are a relatively inactive form of the parasite that can live for several months in the
soil or environment where they were deposited in feces. The microscopic cysts are present in the soil,
fertilizer, or water that s been contaminated with infected feces. Food handlers may transmit the cysts
while preparing or handling food. Transmission is also possible during anal sex or colonic irrigation.
When cysts enter the body, they hunt in the digestive tract. They then release an invasive form of the
parasite called a trophozoite. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only about 10 to 20 percent of
people who have amebiasis become ill from it. Symptoms at this stage tend to be mild and include
loose stools and stomach cramping If the parasite invades the lining of your intestine, it can produce
amebic dysentery. Amebic dysentery is a more dangerous form of the disease with frequent watery
and bloody stools and severe stomach cramping. If the parasite enters your bloodstream, it can end up
in your liver, heart, lungs, brain, or other organs, where it causes tissue destruction and abscess. The
liver is a frequent destination for the parasite. Symptoms of amebic liver disease include fever and
tenderness in the upper right part of your torso Diagnosis A doctor may guess amebiasis after asking
about your recent health and travel history. Your doctor may test you for the presence of E. histolytic.
You may have to give stool samples over several days to screen for the presence of cysts. Your doctor
may order lab tests to check liver function, which can help determine if the ameba has damaged your

A Search For True Identity
In a search for true identity, it is impossible to look at purely just the mind or just the body because a
persons identity lies beyond the physicality of one s reality. Many different debates have left people
baffled when it comes to defining one s identity or self. Descartes and Ghost in the shell explore in
depth the means of their self. Descartes often speaks about mind and body dualism in his meditations
and that the mind is separate. However when you look at the mind and body separately, you are left
with a dilemma; Observing one or the other by itself doesn t really get you anywhere. All of the
knowledge we acquire throughout our lives are connected to some other known idea or concept.
During one of his meditations, Descartes mentions, Nor should I think that I do not perceive the
infinite by means of a true idea, but only through a negation of the finite. Just as I perceive rest and
darkness by means of a negation through motion and light (Descartes 6.46). It is impossible to
comprehend what the mind is by looking at it solely; you have to put it in comparison with what a
body means. You cannot comprehend what a mind is just like how you cannot comprehend what a
body is until you put them in contrast or comparison with each other. Another way of looking at it is
by considering it a struggle with the concept of what a consciousness is defined by. When it is brought
into question what the self is, it is also peering into the idea of an awareness past the material

Moral Values of Silas Marner and Godfrey Cass Essay
Justice is the quality of being just as well as complying with the principle of righteousness and also
performing one s moral obligations (Oxford Dictionary). Moral values are important in Silas Marner
throughout the novel as those people who do good deeds are rewarded while those who fail in their
moral duties to others are punished. As George Eliot was a religious person, she believed in fate and
providence as there was a higher being rewarding and punishing our conduct. This theme is portrayed
throughout the book and seen most prominently in the characters of Silas Marner and Godfrey Cass.
Silas starts the story as a popular man from Lantern Yard as he is a regular attendee to church and is
well respected. He is referred to as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Silas Marner is the main protagonist in the book, although the reader is not given a good impression at
the start of the novel. He is full of greed and his only joy and pleasure is seeing his precious gold. This
can be backed up by the quote Silas lived in solitude, his guineas rising in the iron pot (Chapter 2 page
19). His reaction when his gold is stolen is that of disbelief. It is as if one of his family members has
died. The quotes His heart leapt violently and His trembling hand prove this. This incident is very
ironic as people had accused him of stealing money but now the tide had turned and now it was his
money which had been stolen. The consequence of the stolen money means that Silas opens up to the
whole of the community. He starts to become good friends with Dolly Winthrop, the wheelwright s
wife. Chapter 12 sees the turning point of Silas life. The readers are also introduced to Molly Farren,
Godfrey Cass wife. Molly is addicted to opium and this leads to her dying and, perhaps by
coincidence, her baby arrives at Silas door. At first, he thinks his gold has arrived but this gift is more
important than his gold according to him. Silas instantly becomes a better person when the child
arrives at his door. He used to crave his precious guineas but now he desires this baby. The thoughts
and cravings he had for his gold have now been replaced by this treasure . He says that She ll be my

Holden Caulfield s The Catcher In The Rye
In the coming of age novel, The Catcher in the Rye, throughout the novel Holden Caulfield is
surrounded by many different people and places which bring him together as a whole. Holden begins
the novel at his private school, Pencey Prep. In his last days at Pencey his roommate Stradlater and a
schoolmate, Ackley is introduced. Being around Ackley clearly annoys Holden, he often has to ignore
Ackley or be sarcastic just so he stops bothering him. It s obvious that Holden swears, A lot! Most of
his phrases are Goddam bastard or crummy bastard . Stradlater is also a big issue with Holden; he s
viewed as cocky, full of himself and rude. The last straw Holden had with Stradlater is when they got

Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells
What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms (biology
online.org). The millions of cells that compose the body give life. These cells work together in
synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man to maintain homeostasis. The cells that
work in harmony consist of an array of cells such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various
cells work together they form a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many
had their theory of what composed life. Greek philosophers believed that everything consisted of
water, earth, fire, and air called the classical elements (about.com). Charles Darwin erroneously
theorized that they regarded as simple bags of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nucleolus is where the ribosomes or protein factories are manufactured. From its production it is
exported through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm to begin its protein manufacturing. The
second major part of the eukaryotic cell is the cytoplasm. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or
matrix. This jellylike fluid allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also
contains many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within it to create
chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give added structure to the cell, the
cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being squashed. The cytoskeleton is composed of large,
hollow rods called microtubules. This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also
hold the organelles in place. The hollow rods act as highways for transporting goods around the cell.
The proteins from the ribosomes or protein factories can be packaged into a special container where
they are shipped by the microtubules. At the center of the microtubules is the centrosome. This
structure is where the microtubules branch off, which is near the middle of the cell. The centrosome is
called the organizing center because it can break down the microtubules and allow the organelles to
move around. At the center of the centrosome is where the commands are made called the centrioles, a
pair of cylindrical structures. A major part of the

Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization...
The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was
designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research
question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program
would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a
rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in
setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers,
doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole.
To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an
appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused
on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision
analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies
elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the
organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint.
Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence
rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected
children, and vaccine coverage. The

Bye-Bye Birdie Counterculture
Bye Bye Birdie Directed by George Sidney is a movie filmed in 1963. In the movie, a rock star named
Conrad Birdie (played by Jesse Pearson) receives a notice that he is being drafted into the war, but
before he leaves for war he travels to a small town in Ohio to perform a farewell television
performance and to kiss his biggest fan. Although the film takes place in 1958, the movie reflects the
time which it was filmed in (1963). The sixties jump started a counterculture that would change the
landscape of the United States and the World. The sixties in the United States was an era driven by a
movement of people, mainly youth, fighting for new radical political ideals such as the support for
Civil Rights, Women s Rights, and Gay Rights while opposing war and the political establishment. In
a way to fight the establishment and express new views, mainstream counterculture revolutionized
pop culture by popularizing the acceptance of drugs and sex and inviting in new music, hair styles,
and revealing clothing. The film Bye Bye Birdie, released in the sixties (1963), reflects the era it was

In the movie, Ann Margret s character (Kim MacAfee) accepts an invitation to kiss Conrad Birdie

growing acceptance of sex that occurred in the Sixties. In another scene Kim MacAfee dyes her hair
and when her mother (played by Mary LaRoche) confronts her about it she argues that it is her hair to
do what she pleases which reflects the movement made in the Sixties for women to have control over
their own body. A major theme that grew immensely popular during the sixties was the feminism
movement (things like women s birth control pills were created in 1960). This theme of feminism was

The Awakening Essay Questions
David Reich
Period 7
Mrs. Adams
The Awakening Questions
1. One parallel between the song and the book is they both show an awakening against oppression. In
the song the line take this pink ribbon off my eyes is showing the desire to wake up . Later Edna
realizes that she can become free by swimming, A feeling of exultation overtook her, as if some power
of significant import had been given her to control the working of her body and her soul (Chopin 29).
2. The credo shaped her novel by introducing a theme of solitude. Throughout the novel Chopin
includes solitude to show the negative effects freedom can have on an individual instead of on society.

The reader thinks Edna might just be frustrated with her husband. As the novel shifts to New Orleans,
it is clear that she has changed. Edna starts to feel motivated to take action. Finally the setting comes
back to Grand Isle, and it is the climax of Edna s awakening. It is also where she drowns herself.
Nobody know for sure whether it was intentional or not since Chopin said, Even as a child she had
lived her own small life all within herself. At a very early period she had apprehended instinctively the
dual life that outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions (Chopin 58).
7. Romanticism put a lot of influence on changing, and in the novel Edna is influenced by art to
transform herself. As the book progresses Edna learns to do what she wants even if it defied normal
social guidelines for women. Chopin makes this easy to see when she says, But when she was there
beside the sea, absolutely alone, she stood naked in the open air... (Chopin 124).
8. Freedom is found in the book through symbolism. The caged birds in the novel are a constant
reminder of Edna s own encagement to society. Edna gets brief periods of time where she feels like
she is free. Like when she learns to swim, A feeling of exultation overtook her, as if some power of
significant import had been given her to control the working of her body and her soul (Chopin 29). As
Edna is heading toward the beach so she can drown herself she sees some of her

Is Grendel Human In Beowulf
Jaeden Young

How is Grendel Human
Human nature is found deep within all of us. We all share the same qualities and feelings; those of
loneliness, jealousy, abandonment, pain, and anger. Throughout all of literature it seems as though the
antagonist beholds these particular characteristics which typically leads to the conflict. In the epic
poem Beowulf, Grendel, the antagonist of this story, can be described using these characteristics.
What the reader fails to recognize is although Grendel is suppose to be a monster he really is more
human than one realizes. Grendel should be looked upon as more humanistic than monstrous to truly
understand his character and to support Beowulf as the hero.

Slavery African American Slavery
Slavery in North America became crucial for African Americans to secure their freedom. Since, many
white indentured servants became unavailable, enslaved Africans had to replace them. Along their
journey to obtain their freedom, the numbers of enslaved Africans started to drastically increase, and
soon they started to develop their own culture. Slave labor throughout the Middle, Southern, and New
England colonies differed as the thirteen colonies showed how enslaved Africans slowly became
African Americans. For instance, enslaved Africans who arrived in the Chesapeake Bay area started to
see how rough conditions were for them than anyone else. Many of the laws passed emphasized how
harsh conditions were for enslaved Africans. Soon, Africans started to see how they were inferior to
other races. A 1662 law made the enslaved status of black women heritable, decreeing that all children
borne in this country shall be held bond or free only according to the condition of the mother.
The status of the mother determined the status of the children. [Women] had no rights of any kind and
no legal authority over anyone even their children who belonged to their owners. Even if enslaved
women wanted to decide whether or not their child will be enslaved, the decision will already be made
for them. Thus, showing how conditions were for enslaved Africans in the sixteenth century. Since
they were not able to fully gained their freedom at that time, they had to deal with oppressive

Analysis Of The Experiment Management And The Worker
Since the publication of the experiment report management and the worker in 1939(Gillespie, 1991)
the Hawthorne studies have been playing an important role in management, psychology and sociology.
Hawthorne studies were the foundation for the modern day management thinking. Hawthorne studies
have been subject to many criticisms but it produced the fundamental changes in the development of
management thoughts. The great contribution Hawthorne studies made to the development of modern
management these experiments are identified as the most important piece of experimental industrial
social science ever undertaken. For example, Buchanan and Huczynski (2004) indicated that the
Hawthorne research revolutionized social science thinking . In this essay we are discussing
management concepts used prior to Hawthorne studies, brief introduction of Hawthorne experiment
and its findings, how Hawthorne studies reshape the modern management thinking in the sense of
social science, criticisms on Hawthorne studies and conclusion. The theories well before

In this situation where the manufacturers are neck to neck in competition, the indirect sale method of
SCF grasps what is left. It also manages to take a healthy share in the markets for used cars. The
bargaining power of the suppliers is limited to the type of deal they have with the dealers; it can either
be a baseline interest deal or the interest rate may vary. Automobiles manufacturers have different
criteria as they can manage to keep the interest rates lower than the ones set by SCF. The bargaining
power of customers is slightly greater than that of the suppliers. The number of suppliers in the market
is large and the consumer has the luxury of choosing from a variety of auto financing deals. The
market has thus transformed into one of the most important ones especially after the recent credit
Crunch. Interest was cut down to as low as 1% in some cases to boost sales. Overall, using the five
forces from Porter s analysis, it can be concluded that the consumer finance market in Europe and
America (where Santander majorly operates) is pretty competitive especially because of the fact that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hearing Aids
Hearing is a major and important sense in our lives which is why we have to take care of our hearing.
Many people are deaf and it can be caused by many different factors that can affect the hearing
strength of a person or individual, which is why hearing aids were invented. Over the past two
centuries hearing aids went through a great development and we are still using the outcomes of it till
today they provide us with many advantages, but as you know where there are advantages there are
disadvantages. They can benefit us with better hearing for those who can t hear very well.
The people who can t hear either partly or whole have deafness which can be defined as the inability
to hear either partly or entirely. Deafness is divided into three main types which are conductive
deafness, which means that sound cannot flow freely into the middle ear. The second type is
Sensorineural deafness which means that there is a problem in the auditory nerve or the cochlea. And
finally the neural deafness, which means that there is no auditory nerve. It is important to specify if a

The Year-Round School Debate
A common debate among educators and school board members is the idea of year round schooling.
While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t
affect their education or it makes matters worse. Most students are great full for their summer break.
They schedule family vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to
no conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students.
There are solutions other than making school go all year round.
A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of
dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a
school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for
60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. (Vandewater) ... Show

Also, the workload required of the teachers will go up. In addition, the students will be busy with
school work when they are usually on summer break. This is when most students will get jobs so that
school doesn t interfere. An employer will not want an employee that has to leave every week or so (
The Year Round School Debate ).
On the opposing side, researchers say that the long three months in the summer that students are not
attending school is when they lose the most information. Another benefit to switching to year round
schooling is that students will not get bored over the summer. They will have shorter breaks. It is also
said that hiring a tutor over the summer is not as good as some may think (Kalil). According to
another study, teachers and students don t have to spend as much time reviewing material that the
students learned the previous year. Also some schools that have switched to year round, got extra
funds

I decided to go to two different public places where I know a lot of people would be present. The first
place I went was the Barnes and Noble at the Collierville Carriage Crossing Shopping Center. The
reason I choose Barnes and Noble is because there is a Starbucks Coffee shop located in the front of

Social Classes During The Industrial Revolution
Social classes During the time frame of the Industrial Revolution there were 3 main social classes: The
upper class, the middle class, and the lower class or the working class. The upper class were the rich
and with the advancement of new technology, became richer. Goods could be created and sold for a
cheaper price in their factories. With the working class looking for work, were employed by the
factory owners. The advantaged social class that had enjoyed wealth and success, had now achieved a
new level of luxury. The middle class saw benefits from the new era and seized the opportunity. The
middle class allowed the working class to lift them into the upper class by creating many jobs in their
factories and businesses. The middle class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They constructed mansions and libraries and museums and collected fine art with their newfound
wealth. They extended their range of fine silk clothes and comfortable furniture and ran factories with
cheap labour from the working class. The middle class probably had the biggest positive impact. Due
to their small factories or businesses success, the middle class benefited and they made their way to
the upper class. As this happened the middle class took advantage of newly affordable items such as
furniture and clothing allowing themselves a more comfortable life. Negative effects The Working
class that made up around 80% of society had little or no bargaining power with their employers
resulting in the continuation of unfair working hours, bad wages, and unsanitary and hazardous
working conditions. The workers could not even fight for their rights in the political system as only
the rich were eligible to vote. There is barely sufficient work for the regular employment of half of our
labourers, so that only 1,500,000 are fully and constantly employed, while 1,500,000 more are
employed only half their time, and the remaining 1,500,000 wholly unemployed (Thompson cited in

government legislature) held investigations to find out the conditions of children workers. Below is an

Beach. Critical reasoning and battle analysis will be expressed through what intelligence assets were
applied, utilized and available during the time era. The analysis outcome will lead to an expressed
alternative ending on The Battle of Omaha Beach. A detailed explanation of how intelligence assets
could have been used to change the course of the battle will defend the explained alternative ending
discussed. The main points of discussion will include Adolf Hitler s decision to move most of his tank
divisions and infantry units 150 miles north to Calais, the significance of the highly effective group
known as the French Resistance and a famous illusionist Jasper Maskelyne.
The Battle of Omaha Beach was known as one of the deadliest battles to date within our history.
Shortly after the United States entered World War II in 1941, U.S. and allied mission planning began
two years prior to the battle of Omaha Beach and the Invasion of Normandy. The intent of the
operation was to overthrow Nazi occupied Germany

The Pros And Cons Of The Treaty Of Sussex
The Treaty of Sussex includes points which support colonialism and states that the German colonies in
Southeast Asia go to Japan and the remaining German colonies are spread between France and Great
Britain. The treaty should be encouraging decolonization movements instead of colonialism, even if
this demands France and Great Britain to give up on their own colonies. In 1914, the whole Africa
except Liberia and Ethiopia, was ruled by Europeans. Great Britain and France were in charge of the
two biggest colonial empires. During the war, they utilized their colonies for both human and material
resources. From Britain s colonies, India contributed the biggest number of soldiers with nearly 1.5
million gathered from the beginning of the war until December 1919. The dominions Canada, New
Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Newfoundland contributed with an additional 1.3 million men to
the British army. Initially, France had 90,000 troops (troupes indigènes) under their control for the
war. Then, between 1914 and 1918, France assembled approximately 500,000 colonial troops in total:

The 14 points included proposals to ensure world peace in the future: open agreements, arms
reductions, freedom of the seas, free trade, and self determination for oppressed minorities. The 14
points served as a basis for the terms of German surrender negotiated at the Paris Peace Conference in
1919, but most of Wilson s 14 points were excluded in the Treaty of Versailles ending World War I.
All of them were thinking only their own nation s interests, and they did not put the whole nations and
the world s interest as a reason to enforce the treaty and to fight against Germany. There were often
controversies occurred among the allied countries themselves during the discussion to make the treaty.
Therefore, it showed that there were lacks of cooperation with one

Civil Liberties And Civil Rights
Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling
Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a
clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective
action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their
shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the
accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by
providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s
rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction
(Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was,
and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of
the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a
national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the
establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting
the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no
favoritism . Therefore, the United States refers to God on U.S. currency

The Impact Of Retail Industry On The Retail Sector
I. Introduction The retail sector plays a pivotal role in the development of UK economy, contributing
£180 billion to GDP in 2014, 11% of the total. This industry employed about 4.4 million people in
2014, 15.8% of the UK labour, becoming the largest broad industrial group by the quantity and
proportion of employees. 539,000 enterprises operating in the retail industry in the UK makes account
for 10.3% of all UK businesses. Therefore, the failure of retail companies can lead to adverse impact
on not only shareholders, employees but also the whole economy. Those are the reasons why the UK
government has focused on the development of this industry and also made an effort to prevent the
bankruptcy in the retail sector. Figure 1. % change on the previous year of economic output in retail
sector and whole economy According to Niemira (1996), retail industry tends to be more vulnerable to
the ups and downs of the economy than other industries. To illustrate by Figure 1, in 2007, the retail
sector grew faster than the UK economy. Nevertheless, when the recession began in late 2007, a
quicker and deeper decline than the whole economy could be seen. At the bottom in Q2 2009, output
from the retail industry dropped by 9.3% compared with 2008 while the output from the whole
economy decreased by 5.8% in that quarter (Rhodes, 2014) The history witnessed many notable
bankruptcy cases in the retail industry including Montgomery Ward, Macy s, Zale, Brooks Fashion,
Revco, Hooker and Dart

Health Information Exchange Model
In today s fragmented healthcare system, clinical decisions are made based on the available
information. Unfortunately, the available information is not always complete. Patients have been using
an increasing number of providers and health systems, many of which have no way to effectively
communicate clinical information. This forces healthcare providers to make decisions based on
incomplete information at the cost of outcomes to the patients and dollars to the health system. It is
estimated that the use of health information exchange (HIE) could save $78 billion in healthcare costs
per year (Shortliffe, 2014, p425). A concerted effort to solve this problem began in 2009, when The

California has had a number of failures and has, yet to develop a high quality state HIE. One of the
first failures was the Santa Barbara County Data Exchange (SBCDE). What caused the failure was a
lack of value for participants in the program. The SBCDE began as non profit organization in 1998.
The goal of the organization was to create a single access site for all providers Santa Barbara county.
The program was initially funded using grant money. The SBCDE received a $10 million, three year
grant (Wagner, 2013). The program failed to develop a sustainability plan for when the grant money
ran out and had been utilizing grant money for operational cost. They were relying on participants to
fund the program during the post grant period. When the grant money ran out, it became evident that
there was a lack of value to potential stakeholders and the SBCDE was unable to continue funding the
project. The SBDCE also encountered much difficulty with the lack of standards, requiring a great
deal of customization to facilitate each individual system. This resulted in a draining of resources that
also contributed to the projects failure. Through this project failure we learned that successful projects
utilize step wise implementation with a long term sustainability plan. This project was over ambitious

Contracts For A Contract Agreement Essay
A contract is a promise or a set of promises that one party makes to another and that can be enforced
using law. Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling
or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally
binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms
to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes
legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore,
an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer.
This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial
transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding.
Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in
manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of
the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then
that is not a contract. It may be subject to contract which means that the terms of the relationship will
become legally binding once the parties sign the subsequent contract. When the interaction is subject
to contract, either of the parties is free to exit the negotiations at

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Persecution
When you think yours is the only true path you forever chain yourself to judging others and narrow
the vision of God. The road to righteousness and arrogance is a parallel road that can intersect each
other several times throughout a person s life. It s often hard to recognize one road from another. What
makes them different is the road to righteousness is paved with the love of humanity. The road to
arrogance is paved with the love of self. (Shannon L. Alder). This means many people are acquitted
but some people still are tormenting them without any resistant. Crime, hate, torture, and violence all
lead to religious persecution. Every person in the world has its own personality and belief. These
beliefs cause opponents between people and to seek revenge these people persecute one of their
enemy groups with a different belief. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This persecution didn t recoil right now, but started long ago, most of the genocide occurred because
of race and religious diversity. The Burma genocide occurred because of the abhorrence of Buddhist
towards Rohingya Muslims. More than 62% of religious persecution happens towards Muslims (Stop
Religious Persecution). Every person in the world has a right to not be persecuted because of their
believe. Should religious persecution occur in any country such as: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, or
Turkmenistan? Should there be violence and threat towards people because of their belief? Is it
possible to stop this tragedy event happening in many countries? Or will there be an end towards
hatred, violence, and death? Every person can give a helping hand and stand up for what they think is
right. Religious persecution has consciousness towards it; many of the people and organization work
on impeding religious persecution, and each person can take an action to support towards barring
persecution towards people with different

Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media
Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today
as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as
a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The
issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to
have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under
both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help
broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it
has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that
female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking
disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on
WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories.
Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem
exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject
of gender representation. One of the key sociological ideas which we introduced to our class mates
during the seminar was the concept of gender ideology, masculinity and how this impacts

The Church Must Catch Up
In today s modern world there is a clear rise of unbelief and modern culture is increasingly leaning
more towards the secular. Richard J. Bernstein, discusses how the shift to secularity consists of a move
from a society where belief in God is unchallenged and indeed, unproblematic, to one in which it is
understood to be one option among others, and frequently not the easiest to embrace . Less people are
attending church and more individuals are seeking resolution and purpose else where. Despite the
secularization that is evident within modern society, there are new cultural practices and changing
beliefs that are being implemented within the church to bridge this secular divide. This is
demonstrated through individual religious organizations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally feel as though both of these examples have their positive and negative impacts when it
comes to reinstating religion in to a very secularized society. In reference to Reverend Gretta Vosper,
her failure to focus on an almighty God when it comes to preaching the Christian faith can be very
controversial. On one hand, it opens up the church to a wider population of individuals with an array
of beliefs, allowing Christianity to be a more universal religion. Providing the opportunity to still
practice Christian values and attend church without the requirement of a blind faith in a transcendent
being will help to reintegrate Christianity in to modern culture. One of the negatives to this is that
individuals who believe strongly in an omnipotent God can feel as though their faith is being
diminished by not acknowledging that He exists. However, in relation to bridging the religious and
secular divide I feel as though providing an array of opportunities for individuals to engage in and
practice the Christian faith is more beneficial. In regards to Pope Francis and his push for new reforms
in order to ordain married men and women, I feel as though again it is a step towards closing the
divide between religion and the secular. Pope Francis is someone who is filled with charisma and is
extremely transparent

Rabbit-Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence is the name of the film directed by Philip Noyce. This movie is about three girls,
Molly, Daisy and Gracie, who are taken away from their families to a camp in Moore River where
they bring up the Aboriginal kids as white kids. The girls then go on a nine week journey back home
and this movie showcases the journey and the obstacles the girls had to face before coming back
home. A particular scene from this movie, Stolen , is about the three girls enjoying their day when a
white man comes and takes them away to the campgrounds away from their families. There are many
techniques used in the scene Stolen . One being close up. In this scene a man is shown ringing the

This technique helps us understand the emotions Constable Riggs is feeling. With this technique, we
can see that he is waiting for the right time to make his move. This shows us that he is determined
about what he is going to do and is feeling confident about his plan as we can see his eyes fixed on the
girls. The director wanted to show us that Constable Riggs is a cunning person since before he made
his move he was quite close with the Aboriginal people and they trusted him and respected him.
However, with this technique, the director wanted the viewers to see the other side of Constable Riggs
with the confidence and determined shown from his facial expressions. The director also wanted to
show us that nothing will be able to stop him from capturing the girls. He also wanted to show us that
Aboriginals respect the white and white people are more powerful from them as we saw Constable
Riggs showing the documents that the mothers of the girls have no say on the situation. This is
relevant to anyone as from this scene it is shown not to trust others easily. This is relevant because like

  • 2. Amebic Dysentery Research Papers Amebiasis caused when a single celled parasite called E. histolytica enters the human body when a person ingests cysts through food or water. It can also enter the body through direct contact with fecal matter. The cysts are a relatively inactive form of the parasite that can live for several months in the soil or environment where they were deposited in feces. The microscopic cysts are present in the soil, fertilizer, or water that s been contaminated with infected feces. Food handlers may transmit the cysts while preparing or handling food. Transmission is also possible during anal sex or colonic irrigation. When cysts enter the body, they hunt in the digestive tract. They then release an invasive form of the parasite called a trophozoite. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only about 10 to 20 percent of people who have amebiasis become ill from it. Symptoms at this stage tend to be mild and include loose stools and stomach cramping If the parasite invades the lining of your intestine, it can produce amebic dysentery. Amebic dysentery is a more dangerous form of the disease with frequent watery and bloody stools and severe stomach cramping. If the parasite enters your bloodstream, it can end up in your liver, heart, lungs, brain, or other organs, where it causes tissue destruction and abscess. The liver is a frequent destination for the parasite. Symptoms of amebic liver disease include fever and tenderness in the upper right part of your torso Diagnosis A doctor may guess amebiasis after asking about your recent health and travel history. Your doctor may test you for the presence of E. histolytic. You may have to give stool samples over several days to screen for the presence of cysts. Your doctor may order lab tests to check liver function, which can help determine if the ameba has damaged your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Search For True Identity In a search for true identity, it is impossible to look at purely just the mind or just the body because a persons identity lies beyond the physicality of one s reality. Many different debates have left people baffled when it comes to defining one s identity or self. Descartes and Ghost in the shell explore in depth the means of their self. Descartes often speaks about mind and body dualism in his meditations and that the mind is separate. However when you look at the mind and body separately, you are left with a dilemma; Observing one or the other by itself doesn t really get you anywhere. All of the knowledge we acquire throughout our lives are connected to some other known idea or concept. During one of his meditations, Descartes mentions, Nor should I think that I do not perceive the infinite by means of a true idea, but only through a negation of the finite. Just as I perceive rest and darkness by means of a negation through motion and light (Descartes 6.46). It is impossible to comprehend what the mind is by looking at it solely; you have to put it in comparison with what a body means. You cannot comprehend what a mind is just like how you cannot comprehend what a body is until you put them in contrast or comparison with each other. Another way of looking at it is by considering it a struggle with the concept of what a consciousness is defined by. When it is brought into question what the self is, it is also peering into the idea of an awareness past the material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Moral Values of Silas Marner and Godfrey Cass Essay Justice is the quality of being just as well as complying with the principle of righteousness and also performing one s moral obligations (Oxford Dictionary). Moral values are important in Silas Marner throughout the novel as those people who do good deeds are rewarded while those who fail in their moral duties to others are punished. As George Eliot was a religious person, she believed in fate and providence as there was a higher being rewarding and punishing our conduct. This theme is portrayed throughout the book and seen most prominently in the characters of Silas Marner and Godfrey Cass. Silas starts the story as a popular man from Lantern Yard as he is a regular attendee to church and is well respected. He is referred to as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Silas Marner is the main protagonist in the book, although the reader is not given a good impression at the start of the novel. He is full of greed and his only joy and pleasure is seeing his precious gold. This can be backed up by the quote Silas lived in solitude, his guineas rising in the iron pot (Chapter 2 page 19). His reaction when his gold is stolen is that of disbelief. It is as if one of his family members has died. The quotes His heart leapt violently and His trembling hand prove this. This incident is very ironic as people had accused him of stealing money but now the tide had turned and now it was his money which had been stolen. The consequence of the stolen money means that Silas opens up to the whole of the community. He starts to become good friends with Dolly Winthrop, the wheelwright s wife. Chapter 12 sees the turning point of Silas life. The readers are also introduced to Molly Farren, Godfrey Cass wife. Molly is addicted to opium and this leads to her dying and, perhaps by coincidence, her baby arrives at Silas door. At first, he thinks his gold has arrived but this gift is more important than his gold according to him. Silas instantly becomes a better person when the child arrives at his door. He used to crave his precious guineas but now he desires this baby. The thoughts and cravings he had for his gold have now been replaced by this treasure . He says that She ll be my little un and nobody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms (biology online.org). The millions of cells that compose the body give life. These cells work together in synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man to maintain homeostasis. The cells that work in harmony consist of an array of cells such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various cells work together they form a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many had their theory of what composed life. Greek philosophers believed that everything consisted of water, earth, fire, and air called the classical elements (about.com). Charles Darwin erroneously theorized that they regarded as simple bags of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nucleolus is where the ribosomes or protein factories are manufactured. From its production it is exported through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm to begin its protein manufacturing. The second major part of the eukaryotic cell is the cytoplasm. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or matrix. This jellylike fluid allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also contains many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within it to create chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give added structure to the cell, the cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being squashed. The cytoskeleton is composed of large, hollow rods called microtubules. This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also hold the organelles in place. The hollow rods act as highways for transporting goods around the cell. The proteins from the ribosomes or protein factories can be packaged into a special container where they are shipped by the microtubules. At the center of the microtubules is the centrosome. This structure is where the microtubules branch off, which is near the middle of the cell. The centrosome is called the organizing center because it can break down the microtubules and allow the organelles to move around. At the center of the centrosome is where the commands are made called the centrioles, a pair of cylindrical structures. A major part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cost-effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization... The Cost effectiveness Analysis of a Rotavirus Immunization Program for the United States was designed to estimate the economic impact of a national rotavirus immunization program. The research question and objective of the analysis was to determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program would be beneficial and cost effective. The study is policy relevant because it will determine if a rotavirus vaccine immunization program is effective enough for implementation and will assist in setting priorities for policy makers. The conclusions of the analysis will affect healthcare providers, doctors, hospitals, the vaccine users, and society as a whole. To cultivate results that illustrate a need for a rotavirus immunization program, decision analysis is an appropriate method because the decisions are objective rather than subjective, they are more focused on operations instead of strategy, and they encompass repetition rather than infrequency. Decision analysis looks to distinguish the most appropriate alternative outcomes and extracts data that identifies elements of the program that reflect value or disvalue. Additionally, it takes the viewpoint of the organization when decision making, opposed to an individual standpoint. Date included in the study consisted of the number of physician and emergency room visits, incidence rates, rotavirus infections, mortality estimates, hospitalizations, hospital discharge records, affected children, and vaccine coverage. In the movie, a rock star named Conrad Birdie (played by Jesse Pearson) receives a notice that he is being drafted into the war, but before he leaves for war he travels to a small town in Ohio to perform a farewell television performance and to kiss his biggest fan. Although the film takes place in 1958, the movie reflects the time which it was filmed in (1963). The sixties jump started a counterculture that would change the landscape of the United States and the World. The sixties in the United States was an era driven by a movement of people, mainly youth, fighting for new radical political ideals such as the support for Civil Rights, Women s Rights, and Gay Rights while opposing war and the political establishment. Finally the setting comes back to Grand Isle, and it is the climax of Edna s awakening. It is also where she drowns herself. Nobody know for sure whether it was intentional or not since Chopin said, Even as a child she had lived her own small life all within herself. At a very early period she had apprehended instinctively the dual life that outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions (Chopin 58). 7. Chopin makes this easy to see when she says, But when she was there beside the sea, absolutely alone, she stood naked in the open air... (Chopin 124). 8. • 12. Slavery African American Slavery Slavery in North America became crucial for African Americans to secure their freedom. Since, many white indentured servants became unavailable, enslaved Africans had to replace them. Along their journey to obtain their freedom, the numbers of enslaved Africans started to drastically increase, and soon they started to develop their own culture. Slave labor throughout the Middle, Southern, and New England colonies differed as the thirteen colonies showed how enslaved Africans slowly became African Americans. For instance, enslaved Africans who arrived in the Chesapeake Bay area started to see how rough conditions were for them than anyone else. Many of the laws passed emphasized how harsh conditions were for enslaved Africans. Soon, Africans started to see how they were inferior to other races. A 1662 law made the enslaved status of black women heritable, decreeing that all children borne in this country shall be held bond or free only according to the condition of the mother. The status of the mother determined the status of the children. [Women] had no rights of any kind and no legal authority over anyone even their children who belonged to their owners. Even if enslaved women wanted to decide whether or not their child will be enslaved, the decision will already be made for them. While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t affect their education or it makes matters worse. Most students are great full for their summer break. They schedule family vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to no conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students. There are solutions other than making school go all year round. A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for 60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. I decided to go to two different public places where I know a lot of people would be present. The first place I went was the Barnes and Noble at the Collierville Carriage Crossing Shopping Center. The reason I choose Barnes and Noble is because there is a Starbucks Coffee shop located in the front of the store. When I arrived at Starbucks I walked in, ordered a beverage and waited until the Starbuck s clerk called my name to get my beverage. While I was waiting I decided to scope out the area, there were six people sitting and one placing an order. So there was a total of seven people not including myself in Starbucks. However, the size of this Starbucks is fairly small. The tables were almost touching and there were chairs on one side of the table and a booth on the other side of the table. There were two females who obviously knew each other, I could tell because one of the females passed her phone to the other to show her something. However, the two females were sitting far enough apart on the booth to where neither of them could see what the other had on her computer screen. Social Classes During The Industrial Revolution Social classes During the time frame of the Industrial Revolution there were 3 main social classes: The upper class, the middle class, and the lower class or the working class. The upper class were the rich and with the advancement of new technology, became richer. Goods could be created and sold for a cheaper price in their factories. With the working class looking for work, were employed by the factory owners. The advantaged social class that had enjoyed wealth and success, had now achieved a new level of luxury. They extended their range of fine silk clothes and comfortable furniture and ran factories with cheap labour from the working class. The middle class probably had the biggest positive impact. Due to their small factories or businesses success, the middle class benefited and they made their way to the upper class. As this happened the middle class took advantage of newly affordable items such as furniture and clothing allowing themselves a more comfortable life. Negative effects The Working class that made up around 80% of society had little or no bargaining power with their employers resulting in the continuation of unfair working hours, bad wages, and unsanitary and hazardous working conditions. The workers could not even fight for their rights in the political system as only the rich were eligible to vote. There is barely sufficient work for the regular employment of half of our labourers, so that only 1,500,000 are fully and constantly employed, while 1,500,000 more are employed only half their time, and the remaining 1,500,000 wholly unemployed (Thompson cited in 250) As concerns about the welfare of children rose in the mid 1800s, Parliament (the English government legislature) held investigations to find out the conditions of children workers. The Pros And Cons Of The Treaty Of Sussex The Treaty of Sussex includes points which support colonialism and states that the German colonies in Southeast Asia go to Japan and the remaining German colonies are spread between France and Great Britain. The treaty should be encouraging decolonization movements instead of colonialism, even if this demands France and Great Britain to give up on their own colonies. In 1914, the whole Africa except Liberia and Ethiopia, was ruled by Europeans. Great Britain and France were in charge of the two biggest colonial empires. During the war, they utilized their colonies for both human and material resources. From Britain s colonies, India contributed the biggest number of soldiers with nearly 1.5 million gathered from the beginning of the war until December 1919. The dominions Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Newfoundland contributed with an additional 1.3 million men to the British army. • 24. Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction (Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was, and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no favoritism . Introduction The retail sector plays a pivotal role in the development of UK economy, contributing £180 billion to GDP in 2014, 11% of the total. This industry employed about 4.4 million people in 2014, 15.8% of the UK labour, becoming the largest broad industrial group by the quantity and proportion of employees. 539,000 enterprises operating in the retail industry in the UK makes account for 10.3% of all UK businesses. Therefore, the failure of retail companies can lead to adverse impact on not only shareholders, employees but also the whole economy. Those are the reasons why the UK government has focused on the development of this industry and also made an effort to prevent the bankruptcy in the retail sector. Figure 1. % change on the previous year of economic output in retail sector and whole economy According to Niemira (1996), retail industry tends to be more vulnerable to the ups and downs of the economy than other industries. Patients have been using an increasing number of providers and health systems, many of which have no way to effectively communicate clinical information. It is estimated that the use of health information exchange (HIE) could save $78 billion in healthcare costs per year (Shortliffe, 2014, p425). The SBCDE received a $10 million, three year grant (Wagner, 2013). When the grant money ran out, it became evident that there was a lack of value to potential stakeholders and the SBCDE was unable to continue funding the project. The SBDCE also encountered much difficulty with the lack of standards, requiring a great deal of customization to facilitate each individual system. • 27. Contracts For A Contract Agreement Essay A contract is a promise or a set of promises that one party makes to another and that can be enforced using law. Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore, an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer. This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding. Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then that is not a contract. It may be subject to contract which means that the terms of the relationship will become legally binding once the parties sign the subsequent contract. When the interaction is subject to contract, either of the parties is free to exit the negotiations at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories. Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject of gender representation. Bernstein, discusses how the shift to secularity consists of a move from a society where belief in God is unchallenged and indeed, unproblematic, to one in which it is understood to be one option among others, and frequently not the easiest to embrace . Less people are attending church and more individuals are seeking resolution and purpose else where. Despite the secularization that is evident within modern society, there are new cultural practices and changing beliefs that are being implemented within the church to bridge this secular divide. This is demonstrated through individual religious organizations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally feel as though both of these examples have their positive and negative impacts when it comes to reinstating religion in to a very secularized society. In reference to Reverend Gretta Vosper, her failure to focus on an almighty God when it comes to preaching the Christian faith can be very controversial. On one hand, it opens up the church to a wider population of individuals with an array of beliefs, allowing Christianity to be a more universal religion. Providing the opportunity to still practice Christian values and attend church without the requirement of a blind faith in a transcendent being will help to reintegrate Christianity in to modern culture. One of the negatives to this is that individuals who believe strongly in an omnipotent God can feel as though their faith is being diminished by not acknowledging that He exists. However, in relation to bridging the religious and secular divide I feel as though providing an array of opportunities for individuals to engage in and practice the Christian faith is more beneficial. In regards to Pope Francis and his push for new reforms in order to ordain married men and women, I feel as though again it is a step towards closing the divide between religion and the secular.
