Protein Atherosclerosis
Proteins are very important to our lives because they carry out a multitude of tasks in our body.
Proteins are linear chains of amino acids that adopt unique three dimensional structures and are
packed into their particular native conformations. However, protein folding can also go wrong when
the inaccurate folding and clustering together of protein molecules, which are observed in numerous
human diseases such as: diabetes, atherosclerosis, cystic fibrosis, Creutzfeldt Jakob, Huntington s,
Parkinson s, Alzheimer s disease and many other neurodegenerative as well as non neurological
diseases. Since the amyloidosis is the largest group of protein misfolding disease, Fabrozop Chiti and

The misfolding proteins can lead to many different diseases for human bodies. So, it s important to
prevent or disrupt the pathways to a misfolded protein. To do so, we first need to understand the
function of protein folding, amyloid fibril as well as alpha helix, beta sheets, Aβ , and α
Synuclein...how they affected the structures of each protein in certain diseases. Then, it would be a
good fundamental tool that may lead to the development for treating diseases. However, the challenge
in developing treatment to prevent the misfolding disorders is identifying the ideal stage at which the
protein misfolding and subsequent aggregation can be disrupted. For example, Alzheimer s Disease,
treatment methods for AD, we need to develop of protease inhibiters aimed at stopping the Amyloid

Differences Between Structural And Closed Family Systems
Module 8: Assignment Timothy Polk PSY530 Advanced Counseling Skills Helen Livingston 5 01
2017 1. Compare the definitions of dysfunction offered by Structural and Bowenian therapists.
Structural therapists see dysfunction as it relates to the family. According to structural therapists the
reason dysfunction occurs is when stressful situations happen that require individuals to adapt but they
find themselves unable to do so because of boundaries that are either too rigid or too blurred . If the
boundaries are too rigid it prevents stress from being transmitted to all members of the system and if
they are too blurred it can lead to immediate and intense transmission of stress and potentially
excessive reactions (p. 424). Bowenian therapists see dysfunction as problems that arise from the
combination of anxiety and the differentiation of self. The higher the level of a person s differentiation
or adaptability the better they will be at dealing with stress and thus combating dysfunction. 2.
Describe the differences between open and closed family systems and give an example of each. The
differences between open family systems and closed family systems are that open family systems
allows for information to be passed through it allowing it to change and adapt when the need arises,
while conversely a closed family system would be one that allows no information to pass through it
therefore zero ability to adapt. An example of a closed family system

Summary Of The Symbolism InNovostroika By Maria Reva
For many, governments offer guidance and reliance; citizens enjoy security, order, and direction from
their political leaders. Yet some forms of government specifically Communism cause instability,
confusion, and distraction in the lives of their citizens. In Maria Reva s short story Novostroika, she
depicts the animosity of a young Ukrainian man, Daniil Blinov, who battles the oppressions of
Communist life. In his position, Danill struggles to keep his family satiated under the dominion of the
U.S.S.R. This leads to various dilemmas throughout the piece. Within this story, Reva incorporates a
space heater, a symbol of hope, and a coffin, a symbol of oppression, to convey how Communism
crushes the hope of its citizens.
Reva establishes this short lived hope within the first symbol: a space heater. In doing so, she shifts
from a persistent defeated outlook to an encouraging perspective on the characters dilemmas. The
Blinov family procures the space heater with Daniel s grandfather s life savings, which he had been
keeping for hard times, and hard times had arrived (Reva 227). Congruently, they had enough [...] to
buy one space heater, allowing the situation to resemble fate. At this moment, the symbol emerges
within the story. Now, the characters have a tangible item to prosper from, to grant them perseverance.
In this story, set in 1988, the U.S.S.R. began to rapidly decay. With Mikhail Gorbachev s new reform
in place, the people found a new voice. In turn,

Cost Volume Profit Analysis, Cost, Volume, And Profit
Introduction Economic models which measure changes in costs and revenues as the volume of activity
increase can be complex. However, for the purpose of managerial decision making it is possible to
simplify these models in a way that makes them easy to use and therefore more readily useful to the
average manager. In this case, cost volume profit analysis is simple, with its assumption of output as
the only revenue and cost driver, and linear revenue and cost relationships. it provides minimum
values in more complex decision making cases. Cost volume profit analysis examines the
relationships between changes in activity and changes in total sales revenue, cost and profit. It may
provide very useful information particularly for a business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moreover, break even point is useful, simply why firm are making profit. Once the break even units or
break even revenue is achieved, then the process is openly acceptable. Finally, assumptions, such as
sales units are the only cause for cost and revenue changes, linear graph line can be shown when
revenue and costs are used, and then single product or service would be analyzed. The strength of
CVP lies in the way that it removes many of the complications of the real world in order to provide a
sharp focus on the financial impact of decisions. This makes the CVP both simple to apply and easy to
understand. In the year of 2001, Yunker, J. (2001) have declared that CVP analysis can not only be
used in certain practical decision situations but also provide a conceptual bridge between the
accounting and finance literature on CVP analysis under uncertainly and the economic literature on
decision making under uncertainty. This shows that CVP is both simple and simplistic. What s more,
Ojugo, C. (2009) said that knowing the relationship among cost, volume and profit, or CVP is the
most powerful tool and easiest way to make a better decision. It shows the volume of sales required to
break even and generate profit, the proper price of the menu is related to the cost of sales.
Additionally, Eldneburg Wolcott (2004, p.89) argued that Cost Volume Profit analysis provides

Precambrian Era Essay
The Precambrian is the name given for the first super eon of Earth s history (Mary Bagley, Accessed:
20th Aug 2016). This era itself has been recorded to be about seven eighths of the entire earth s
history. This era stretches across from 4 Billion years ago up until only 543 Million years ago (Mya)
which shows how large and substantial this era was.
Precambrian itself refers to the time before the Cambrian period. It also refers to the entire period of
time before the formation of the oldest rocks with recognisable fossils. Lately, however, it has been
seen that some hard to distinguish fossils from in the Precambrian times have been found. The
Precambrian Era can be split into three eras: The Hadean, the Archean and also the Proterozoic. ...

Life on earth began in the early Archean and fossilized organisms became far more abundant through
the entirety of the Precambrian time.
Three billion years ago there was no traces of oxygen in the atmosphere, this caused no life to be able
to live on earth. At around 2.4 billion years, oxygen was beginning to be released in the oceans as
photosynthesis began in cyanobacteria. This process caused the gas levels to slowly grow and
eventually made up 1% of the earth s atmosphere at around 2 Bya. By 800 Mya, oxygen levels
reached around 20% which let organisms to slowly breathe to life. This spike in oxygen also caused
the earth s surface to be shielded from solar radiation. This was the start of the first unicellular
organisms.
The first multicelled animals started appearing in the records of fossils around 600 million years ago.
Fossils found at this time were known as Ediacarans and showed a very important time of evolution
for earth. Ediacara fauna was specifically named after the Ediacara hills in South Australia in which
they were discovered in the early 1900 s. These organisms even predate the explosion of life forms at
the beginning of the Cambrian

Power Of Artificial Intelligence
The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the
potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the
usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent
human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple for the
uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game opponents, and
Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search bar. That is only the
beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are researching and
developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI how to drive cars by
itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions and grow, and thousands of
other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many unique ways. It contains many
different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning, Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem
solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland 2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI
in war around the globe, stabilize the economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the
inequality caused by it. AI controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might
sound like quite the sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn
against the people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them?
That is one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics
behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has chemical
weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces are harmed, yet
thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes one fighter jet and pilot
to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could be deployed halfway across
the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of earth, without any threat of
danger or harm. We need regulations like

Evolution Of Quilting
The event, I attended in the National Museum of African American History Culture was on the An
Evolution of Expression: Sundance Star Quilt at 20th October, 2016. It was an exhibition on Quilts; a
tradition that expresses global culture, diversity and gender. This was the most prized celebration and
American Indian quilts are special crafts in the national museum of the American Indian. Kendra
Greendeer described the patterns and how quilting was a part in the life of community for Lakota
woman. This is a most creative craft found in the world and famous among woman, though history of
quilting is not limited to some particular regions.
Joanne hyppolite and Elaine Nichols served as curators for African American quilters, argued the
evolution of quilting through a diversified styles, patterns and symbols. These stylized patterns are
depicting the blends of various traditions and cultures. We also enjoyed the Sundance star of grace
zimiga for the time of 1980 and that was depicting the rock reservation style of north and South
Dakota. The member who created the quilt was from a tribe of Lakota and the star quilt presented
there was termed as morning star by their communities. Other names for the same product are Lone

parts of the world and every quilter had ability to create a unique one like, different colors, patterned

Why Are Planets Spherical Research Paper
Why are planets spherical and what would happen if they were a different shape? Nearly every planet,
moon or star discovered so far has been roughly spherical. This is because bodies of mass large
enough will cause a gravitational pull. As the object gets bigger, the stronger the gravitational pull
would be. Along with the gravitational pull that object creates, other objects would have pulls of their
own which in turn would affect the other objects shape. One way we can see this is with our moon.
Our moon affects the earth s shape by changing the tides every day. The object s spin and orbit would
also affects the way that planet is shaped. The faster the object spins the more the equator would
bulge. The spin of the object is called the

Analysis Of The Poem Exposure By Wilfred Owen
The poetry written in World War I was mostly dark and told of the terrible conditions of the war. The
poetry shows how the soldiers suffered and struggled through unimaginable conditions. The
conditions of the weather and battle were often brutal and uninhabitable; yet the soldiers endured these
conditions. Nature was often a slow and painful killer. War is a constant in an ever changing world. It
is easy to see that fighting is an almost futile attempt to conquer and prevail. The poetry from the war
can express the pain of war in a beautiful manner. Through writing the authors can share the pain of
what they experienced at war. The difficulty of war is viewed differently through the eyes of these two
narrators, and while one views nature as the true enemy, the other sees the loss of people back home as
the hardship.
The point of view a person has is often shaped by their life experiences. The reader can see how war
can change a soldier s ideals as they experience it. In the poem Exposure, Wilfred Owen writes about
the mental toll war takes on the human mind. He writes about how the soldier is worried by silence,
sentries whisper, curious, nervous but nothing happens . This shows the soldier s paranoia during the
night. The soldier s cannot rest even though it is quiet, because they are afraid of what they cannot
hear. Their paranoia is taking over their minds and making them nervous about what is to come. Owen
tells us how the cold and slightly changing conditions wear and

Comparing The Denotations And Connotations Of The Word Creep
1. The Denotations and Connotations of the Word Creep .
The denotative meaning of the word creep is a slow, quiet and unnoticeable moving. It synonymizes
with the word crawl , and means moving close to the ground like a snake or a person on hands and
knees. The other meaning of the word is to grovel, i.e., to act in servile manner.
The connotation of the word creep is to sneak or steal up. What sneaks up? The word creep relates to
the days. People hope that their dreams come true in the future and wait for another day becomes an
implementation of their plans. On the one hand, the days move slowly, monotonously, and boringly. It

Essay Business Ethics
The stockholder and stakeholder theories are two popular frameworks used to examine the purpose of
business and its ethical obligations. With reference to the quote above, both theories seem rational and
enjoy strong support. However, a common failing of both is typically how humans interpret and
implement the theories in contemporary business environments. For instance, Enron was so focused
on the raising the price of their stock that they cooked the books to produce fake profits 1. This paper
will provide a description of each theory and, analyze ethical justifications and major objections to
each theory. The ethical justifications will be based on pertinent examples policies and actions, of
businesses such as Wal Mart. Based on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stock chart below illustrates how Wal Mart, one of the companies seen as being stockholder
focused, has benefited its stockholders immensely over the last three decades. Ethical theories provide
adequate support for the stockholder theory as detailed below. Entitlement theory maintains that if
someone acquires resources by just means they are entitled to those resources. Stockholders who
acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of the business and entitled
to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other stakeholders at the expense of
stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Year after year, it has been quoted that Wal Mart pays low
wages and appears to aggressively seek to keep wages down 2. In this respect, Wal Mart s policy on
employee wages seems to indicate that they respect the stockholder rights over those of their
employees. Utilitarianism theory holds the view that profit maximization directly or indirectly
maximizes benefits for the greatest number of people. Wal Mart uses its retail clout to bring the lowest
possible prices to its customers and the giant retailer is at least partly responsible for the low rate of
U.S. inflation 3. Wal Mart s legendary toughness in dealing with suppliers forces them to improve
every aspect of their operations and this can help profit growth with other customers as well. Desert

Fairness And Control Of Ceo Pay
LITERATURE REVIEW Introduction The first challenge addressed by this dissertation is fairness ,
which necessarily involves relativity. Shareholders may consider fairness in terms of company value
added but employees may look at pay distribution. CEO s may compare their compensation with other
CEO s and given recent increases in CEO pay, also over time. The second challenge is to understand
the role that control may have in a fair pay system, what mechanisms are available and how likely
they are to be effective. A substantial amount of literature was researched, and that chosen for
inclusion in this review provides a broad range of views and information relating to these challenges.
The themes of this review will therefore be fairness and control of CEO pay. Fairness Ground
breaking research (Hill, A., Mellon, L., Laker, B. and Goddard J., 2016) was conducted on the
relationship between head teacher pay and performance in UK state schools and is relevant as its
findings are applicable to CEO in general. British schools offer an excellent benchmarking
opportunity as they generate standardised information in the same industry and country, therefore
avoiding traditional benchmarking challenges. The study identified two particularly interesting styles
of heads. Surgeons act decisively, improving schools by removing poorly performing staff and
students, architects are slow moving, meticulous planners who do things in sequence. In their first
year, surgeons target

Baseball In The 90 s Essay
Baseball in the 1990 s, a throwing, running, hitting sport, started in 1845. Baseball in the 90 s was a
good year for baseball. In the late 90 s there was some really good players and really big hitters. The
best hitter was Tony Gwynn ( Thompson 1). . There was a lot of Hall of fame players in the 90 s.
There were some young ones and old ones. One of the best players to play in the 90 s had a steroid
controversy. The player to have the steroid controversy was Mark McGwire. He owed a lot of money,
but using the steroids actually helped him. There was a home run derby in the 90 s too. They have one
every year. In the derby, there has to be a winner and a loser. Everybody loses but the one who does
not hit as much as the other players is the biggest loser. Baseball today is a lot more different than it
used to be by a lot. The players are better than they used to be. There is a leading player today and
there is a not so good player. In the late 90 s there were some good players who played and left some
big shoes to fill for the next people going in after they retire. Just like when Carl Ripken Jr. went way
over Lou Gehrig s playing streak on September 6, 1995 (Johnson 68). Ripken even beat his own
playing streak with 2, 632 in 1998 (Johnson 68). We even had really good hitters too. Tony Gwynn

Reflection Paper On Child Development
On October 21, 2017, I was able to observe Claire Marcus for my Life Span Development class. This
observation allowed me observe the physical and cognitive changes children experience. It was
performed at the Marcus household in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This observation was consented by
Claire s mother. Claire Marcus is a seven year old, female. She enjoys playing sports, having play
dates with her friends, and excelling in school. At age seven, children are going through large stages of
development physically, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. By observing Claire Marcus, I was able
to get a better understanding of these stages of development, and I was able to see her interact with
those around her. It gave me the opportunity to see the different stages of development that I have read
about in Santrock s book, Essentials of Life Span Development. As stated by Santrock, children at this
age are continually growing. In this stage of life, children grow an average of two to three inches each
year (Santrock 2014, pg. 191). In the last year Claire grew several inches, and is no longer the shortest
girl in her class. She had to get all new clothes and shoes because she quickly out grew her old ones.
During this growth spurt, Claire also began gaining muscle, and losing her baby fat. Her mother
explained that after Claire s growth spurt she is now the similar size to her friends and classmates. She

High School Lunch Essay
MPHS Should have a longer lunch
How much time do you usually take to eat lunch? A half an hour maybe more? Well, at the Mount
Pleasant High School, we get around five minutes. Saying were rushed is an understatement, at the
least. The amount of time we get, from the first bell, to the ending bell, we have 20 minute. By the
time we actually get to start eating, there s five minutes left. I think the Mt. Pleasant High School
should have a longer lunch period, because collectively all around it helps staff and students. Kids
would actually have time to eat their food. We students have no time to eat the food we paid for.

It would give the a little space to breathe a minute, and sit with friends. It would take away some of
their stress, to sit and talk with some of their friends. Instead of the alternative of sitting there worried
over how much time you have, and trying to choke down your food to finish it. Sometimes not even
getting to say a word to anyone. Kids already stress enough over their work, and out of school
activities, or things happening a home. So why do they need anymore stress? Stress causes kids to do
bad academically, because it wears them down, making it hard for them to do their best. Kids might
even get a little time to do some of their work at lunch, if given even a little bit of extra time. If you
have forgotten an assignment, and you don t have study hall or panther time you re out of luck. Unless
you do it at lunch, but with how much time were given now, that would mean giving up eating. I know
there are many arguments for saying our lunch should stay short. For instance people might be
worried that if we have too much time, we won t use it to be productive or to eat. Well maybe, some
kids might abuse it you never know, but should a few kids ruin it for the rest of us? Also i m not
saying we should have an hour and a half lunch, i m saying, around 45 minutes, to an hour lunch. That
gives us some time to relax a little, maybe do work, and to eat our food, without choking on it. Having

The United States And The World Empire Between 1890 And 1945
Throughout the development of one of the greatest countries in the world, the he United States had
created a world empire between 1890 and 1945. In such a short amount of time, the country as a
whole as able to produce a homogenization of life where the measurement of national and
international power and the level of control of economic, military, political, media, institutions,
education, sport, music, etc. came together to form a new kind of American cutlure. However, during
this time, it was all about the projection of the American self and demonstrating characteristics and

Last but not least, it promoted a sense of national unity among the American people.
During this time, America also saw an extremely productive economy and what was able to come out
of working together as one instead of multiple little groups. Americans had been focusing on literacy
and technical skills that were required in the workplace. Money was being funded into education and
the growing premium. High school, college, and advanced degrees became not only credentials for
employment but also markers of social status. Americans began rethinking gender roles, which would

States was headed in definitely headed in the right direction in terms of employing their people and

As the United States started to build their own empire, the war fighting and peacemaking that marked

Businesses are driven by market diversity. Such variety, allows businesses to adapt and make changes
in order to compete. Stakeholder can predict an increase in revenue due to the growing needs of a
diverse market. However, a business plan that warrants an organizational change which aims to
compete in the changing market demands can only be successful if and when it is executed with full
cooperation from the overall organization. Hence, resistance to change must be eradicate, if not
minimized. Realistically, change is constant but some changes are uncomfortable (Bridges, 2000). For
this reason some employees tend to resist change. According to (Haslam et al., 2004) majority of
business organizations performs poorly in executing large scale changes because of the resistance
within the organisation. In a study of 288 companies by Tim Creasy as cited in (Haslam et al., 2004)
found out that resistance to change in all levels of the organization is prevalent which is an indication
the resisting to change is a natural response. (Bridges Mitchell, 2000) point out that an organization
may take time to transition towards the desired continuous improvement due to resistance to change.
They have highlighted three reason why employees repel vicissitudes: 1. Saying Goodbye, 2. The
Neutral Zone, and 3. moving forward. Employees may struggle in saying goodbye to old

Meetings were held between 1815 and 1825 at Aix la Chapelle, Vienna, Troppau, Verona and St
Petersburg. The main aims were to settle disputes by diplomacy and to maintain peace. The main
problems they addressed were France, revolutionary movements, unrest in Italy and Spain, the
Spanish colonies and Greek revolts. Divergence occurred over whether to intervene militarily to put
down revolutionary movements and/or revolts against governments they considered legitimate, and
whether this constituted interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. The treatment of France
did not cause disagreements, but divisions between the powers and opposition, especially by Britain,
to the use of force to support reactionary rule led to the breakdown of the Congress System.
Candidates could decide whether the Congress System was therefore a genuine attempt at unified
policy, and whether its failure to be expected because of the diverse interests and nature of the Great
Powers. Some may comment that it was perhaps a forerunner of the later European Union, and
although there were revolutions there was no major war. [0 to 7 marks] for inadequate or irrelevant

Benefits Of A Child s Nutrition
Fruits and vegetables have a very essential role in our diet. Studies have shown the importance of
sufficient fruit and vegetable consumption in stopping chronic diseases like cardiovascular diseases,
cancers, diabetes and obesity. According to 2000 report, 2.7 million deaths and 1.8% all diseases
worldwide could be attributed to inadequate F V intake (Najimi, 2013). Starting to eat well when
young is important. Research has proven that interventions at a young age can impact good behavior
such as good nutritional habits that get carried on into adulthood. Furthermore, ages 7 to 12 is when a
child should get nutrients for growing. Therefore, the significance of a child s nutrition becomes more
of a need than ever (Najimi, 2013). Examples of the benefits of kids eating healthy when young are
good mental activities, prevention of problems and complications like anaemia, obesity, digestive
disorders, and tooth decay and chronic and dangerous diseases in the long term (Najimi, 2013).
Complicated health problems are determined by health behaviour theories, since it can impact factors
on behaviour by giving context to be able to better grasp its components and their role. The social
cognitive theory is a theory that is applied for looking at psychological effects on behaviors as well as
changing behavior and it focuses on mutual interactions of persons, behavior and environment.

one, the task of driving a car with a manual transmission appears easy on paper. Anyone who has gone
through the arduous process of learning this skill will state the contrary. This act , which seems to be a
simple task of mindless movements of muscle memory, truly is a feat of deftness and finesse. If you
place a new driver behind the wheel, this already difficult task seems impossible and daunting. For my
seventeenth birthday, I got the one gift that I had desired for as ever since I could say the word car .
Not only did I get just a car, I had gotten the automobile I had always lusted after. In my driveway, a
dark grey metallic Subaru WRX stood before me. Single turbo four cylinder boxer engine,
symmetrical all wheel drive, quad exhaust, it truly was the perfect gateway into the vast world of high
performance cars for a young enthusiast. I could not have been happier. The irony was that I could not

Nt1210 Lab Report
1.0 Introduction: Telephone signals are controlled through the process of digital switches. Every wire
a telephone has two connections, which is known as input and outputs signals with a binary
combination. In this lab, the overall purpose of the circuit was to build a telephone switch that would
function which connects to one subscriber to another. What the circuit does is that it gives an input
signal using four subscribers which is connected with an output signal using 8 subscribers. As the
input signal known as MUX and output signal known as DeMUX, the wiring of the signals are
displayed of page 11 known as the Tekron Logic Lab sheet. After completing the circuit, to determine
if each input signal is connected to an output signal, the lamp input, S1 and S0, with the additional of

build a 4 input MUX as shown in gates in figure 3. The 4 input MUX circuit in the perlab uses the
design of three dual 2 input AND NOR gates and five NOT gates. The figure 3 shows how a 4 input
MUX could be constructed through the use of three two input MUX s. For a four input MUX, a
combination of two binary values such as 00, 01, 10, and 11 were the addresses. A schematic of the
dialer is given. The dialer was used to send signals through the MUX and DeMUX. On the Tektron

Comparing Vince Lombardi s Life And Work
The person whom I am doing my biography on is Vince Lombardi. He was born in June 11, 1913 and
died in September 3, 1970. His birthplace was Brooklyn, New York and died in Washington D.C..
Vince had four siblings: Madeleine, Harold, Claire, and Joe. During his life, he faced severe
discrimination. Vince s family was very religious and required him to go to church every Sunday. He
served as an alter boy at St. Mark s Catholic Church for the majority of his childhood. In partner with

became a Charter Member of Omega Gamma Delta fraternity. His faith helped him through his work
and profession with his head held high. In high school, he did sports, so he did not have a job like one
he had with his father during his childhood life. During college, he did sports as much as he could. He
played football with all his heart and mind. Professionally, he worked as a coach or part of the

Ozment And The Lutheran Reformation Essay
Ozment The Lutheran Reformation By: Hanan M. Madbouly
Long before Martin Luther was one of Germany s most famous reformers, Lucas Cranach a painter
from Franconia served sixteen years as a court painter in Wittenberg. Wittenberg turned out to be the
center for the Renaissance; this small town would be where the Renaissance would emerge. As Luther
references it, it became the birthplace of religious pluralism and independent beliefs for freedom that
we tend to hold dear today. By doing so, these two men were attracted to one another for the cause of
reform, on the cultural, domestic, religious, and political fronts.
Cranach had taken up residence in the city in 1505 right around the time Saxon princes seemed to be
redeveloping their townhouses, castles, grounds, and churches. From the very beginning of his work
Cranach presented a new outlook on are for that time. With this status Cranach was able to raise to the
top of his field, very few artists of the time were given the luxuries he receivedfor his role as the new
court painter. Be It Durer of the sixteen century, or Picasso of the twentieth seemed to have created the
many art genres as Cranach did in his lifetime.
Furthermore as a quick painter, and all over businessman, Cranach s works pushed him to the top,
where Durer being his rival. Being a master at his own craft, Cranach did not seem to believe in that
fully. Before coming to know Luther,

The Contributions Of Ancient Technology In The Ancient World
There are thousands of years and many examples of ancient technology that leave us in awe at the
knowledge and wisdom attained by people of the past. These past civilizations made incredible
advances in engineering and innovation as the latest and most powerful civilizations emerged and
came to control the ancient world. These advances sparked societies to adopt new ways of living and
governance, as well as new ways of contemplating their world. Three examples of ancient
technological that garnered my attention the most were Sumerian form of writing called cuneiform,
the fascinating Assyrians made aqueducts and the sheer scale and integrity of ancient Roman
architecture that was brought to the new regions of their empire. Cuneiform was the earliest form of
writing in 3100 B.C.E that ushered in the world s first Information age (Fiero 12). The creation of the
Sumerian writing system happened because the Mesopotamians needed a way to keep track of clay
tokens they used to count agricultural goods. This system was used to keep track of information such
as religious activities, business transactions such as trade and sales. Cuneiform was used by scholars
to for stories, myths, and personal letters. Cuneiform is composed of wedge shaped characters and was
written on clay tablets that resembled marks made by a chicken scratching in the mud. Many
languages throughout a vast geographical span over thousands of years were written in cuneiform,
including Sumerian, Hittite, Hurrian

The Stock Market Is Important For Success Or Failure Essay
The stock market can be very risky and it can be intimidating to someone with no experience dealing
with stocks. However, with the right research and a lot of patience it is possible to be successful, but it
will not be without challenges. The stock market can be highly unpredictable and can fluctuate at
times for reasons we either do not understand or cannot see. Even with research and planning
investing in the stock market is a risk, so it is better to approach it with the most information possible.
How well you understand stocks and the stock market can be key factors in your success or failure.
The first thing a person starting out in stock market investments will need to research is themselves.
You will need to look closely at your financial situation and figure out not only how much you can
afford to invest, but how much you can afford to lose. While these two things sound like they would
be the same thing, they are not. Most people tend to think of investing as making money, not losing it.
However, it is possible that a person could lose everything that they invested. The stock market crash
in 1929 left many investors penniless and devastated (Colombo). You have to research your finances
and decide how much to invest with this type of possibility in mind. The stock market is very
unpredictable and the right research here can be the difference between bouncing back after a loss and
losing everything. You also need to figure out what your goals are. If your goal is to

Heterozygotes, which have the wild type phenotype, have normal sight which gives them the
advantage of finding a mate and have a better success with attracting a mate with their courtship song
(Kyriacou et al, 1978). The male heterozygous Drosophila had a better advantage at mating than the
homozygotes, which were the ebony, and therefore we predict there will be more wild type by the end
of the experiment. METHODS: In this experiment, the instructor provided us with 30 ebony
individuals and 20 wild type individuals. In order to get an exact amount of each type, we anesthetized
the flies and counted them off by gently using a fine point paint brush. Then all 50 Drosophila were
put into a population cage which had a lid that had six holes for the centrifuge tubes. Two food tubes
and four clean, empty tubes were added on the first day. Each food tube consisted of half a cup full of
food mixed with 6 7 milliliters of water. This was the fly medium. The food should turn blue once the
water is added. Each tube was labeled with a number and with the date. Every two to three days we
added one more food tube until all 6 tubes contained the fly medium. After all 6 tubes were filled, the
following days after we exchanged the first food tube with a new food tube. At the end of the
experiment, we fed the flies with a total of 8 food tubes. Then the flies were anesthetized, again. At the
end of this four week lab, the number of living ebony and wild

Everything I Still Believe That People Are Really Good At...
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote proves that Anne
Frank cared about everyone even if they did not treat her with respect. Anne Frank was a strong,
young girl who was alive during the Holocaust. She and her family had to go into hiding because of
what they believed in. During the Holocaust it was a very rough time for Jewish people. For example,
they had to wear the star of David and if they were found they were taken to a concentration camp,
where they were treated rudely and with no respect. After Anne and her family were found they were
sent to a concentration camp, but while they were there Anne was still happy and positive there. She
also had to stay strong even though they were given very little food and water. Finally, Anne was a
caring and loving teenager, just because they were in closed quarters for many hours of the day Anne

this because their celebration of Hanukkah was not over, Anne gathered gifts for everyone from

Anne Frank was a very strong willed child growing up during the Holocaust. She had to stay strong

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Women Fashion
4.ADVANCEMENTS IN WOMEN CLOTHING
Fashion *is the style and custom prevalent at a given time. To some it s an art form, to others it s like a
part of their culture and religion but to most it is a method of utilizing cloth to show or hide something
about themselves. Fashion can be used to serve as an extension of one s own personality or to disguise
one s own true self. (Ukessays,2015)
Language **disguises the thought, so that from the external form of the clothes one cannot infer the
form of the thought they clothe, because the external form of the clothes is constructed with quite
another object than to let the form of the body be recognized (Calefato,2004.p.13).

Galileo: Exploring the Universe, Encountering Resistance Galileo Galilei was an Italian Renaissance
man, who used a telescope of his own invention to collect some evidence that supported a Sun

first of seven children of Vincenzo Galilei and Giulia Ammanati. In 1609, Galileo created a telescope,
based of a type of telescope built by Dutch eyeglass makers, and pointed it towards the sky, his

World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who supports Copernicus heliocentric theory of
the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is impartial. Though Galileo claimed Dialogues
was neutral, it was clearly not. It spiked a negative reaction from the Church, and Galileo was
summoned to Rome by the Church. During the proceedings of Inquisition, which lasted from
September 1632 to July 1633, Galileo was treated with respect and was never imprisoned. However,
in a final attempt to break him, which Galileo was threatened with torture, he finally admitted that he
had supported the Copernican theory, but privately held that his statements were correct. He was

  • 2. Protein Atherosclerosis Proteins are very important to our lives because they carry out a multitude of tasks in our body. Proteins are linear chains of amino acids that adopt unique three dimensional structures and are packed into their particular native conformations. However, protein folding can also go wrong when the inaccurate folding and clustering together of protein molecules, which are observed in numerous human diseases such as: diabetes, atherosclerosis, cystic fibrosis, Creutzfeldt Jakob, Huntington s, Parkinson s, Alzheimer s disease and many other neurodegenerative as well as non neurological diseases. Since the amyloidosis is the largest group of protein misfolding disease, Fabrozop Chiti and Christopher M. Dobson described clearly in the article Protein ... To do so, we first need to understand the function of protein folding, amyloid fibril as well as alpha helix, beta sheets, Aβ , and α Synuclein...how they affected the structures of each protein in certain diseases. Then, it would be a good fundamental tool that may lead to the development for treating diseases. However, the challenge in developing treatment to prevent the misfolding disorders is identifying the ideal stage at which the protein misfolding and subsequent aggregation can be disrupted. For example, Alzheimer s Disease, treatment methods for AD, we need to develop of protease inhibiters aimed at stopping the Amyloid beta release and prevent the aggregation of ... • 3. Differences Between Structural And Closed Family Systems Module 8: Assignment Timothy Polk PSY530 Advanced Counseling Skills Helen Livingston 5 01 2017 1. Compare the definitions of dysfunction offered by Structural and Bowenian therapists. Structural therapists see dysfunction as it relates to the family. According to structural therapists the reason dysfunction occurs is when stressful situations happen that require individuals to adapt but they find themselves unable to do so because of boundaries that are either too rigid or too blurred . If the boundaries are too rigid it prevents stress from being transmitted to all members of the system and if they are too blurred it can lead to immediate and intense transmission of stress and potentially excessive reactions (p. 424). Bowenian therapists see dysfunction as problems that arise from the combination of anxiety and the differentiation of self. The higher the level of a person s differentiation or adaptability the better they will be at dealing with stress and thus combating dysfunction. 2. Describe the differences between open and closed family systems and give an example of each. The differences between open family systems and closed family systems are that open family systems allows for information to be passed through it allowing it to change and adapt when the need arises, while conversely a closed family system would be one that allows no information to pass through it therefore zero ability to adapt. An example of a closed family system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of The Symbolism InNovostroika By Maria Reva For many, governments offer guidance and reliance; citizens enjoy security, order, and direction from their political leaders. Yet some forms of government specifically Communism cause instability, confusion, and distraction in the lives of their citizens. In Maria Reva s short story Novostroika, she depicts the animosity of a young Ukrainian man, Daniil Blinov, who battles the oppressions of Communist life. In his position, Danill struggles to keep his family satiated under the dominion of the U.S.S.R. This leads to various dilemmas throughout the piece. Within this story, Reva incorporates a space heater, a symbol of hope, and a coffin, a symbol of oppression, to convey how Communism crushes the hope of its citizens. Reva establishes this short lived hope within the first symbol: a space heater. In doing so, she shifts from a persistent defeated outlook to an encouraging perspective on the characters dilemmas. The Blinov family procures the space heater with Daniel s grandfather s life savings, which he had been keeping for hard times, and hard times had arrived (Reva 227). Congruently, they had enough [...] to buy one space heater, allowing the situation to resemble fate. At this moment, the symbol emerges within the story. Now, the characters have a tangible item to prosper from, to grant them perseverance. In this story, set in 1988, the U.S.S.R. began to rapidly decay. With Mikhail Gorbachev s new reform in place, the people found a new voice. In turn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cost Volume Profit Analysis, Cost, Volume, And Profit Introduction Economic models which measure changes in costs and revenues as the volume of activity increase can be complex. However, for the purpose of managerial decision making it is possible to simplify these models in a way that makes them easy to use and therefore more readily useful to the average manager. In this case, cost volume profit analysis is simple, with its assumption of output as the only revenue and cost driver, and linear revenue and cost relationships. it provides minimum values in more complex decision making cases. Cost volume profit analysis examines the relationships between changes in activity and changes in total sales revenue, cost and profit. It may provide very useful information particularly for a business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, break even point is useful, simply why firm are making profit. Once the break even units or break even revenue is achieved, then the process is openly acceptable. Finally, assumptions, such as sales units are the only cause for cost and revenue changes, linear graph line can be shown when revenue and costs are used, and then single product or service would be analyzed. The strength of CVP lies in the way that it removes many of the complications of the real world in order to provide a sharp focus on the financial impact of decisions. This makes the CVP both simple to apply and easy to understand. In the year of 2001, Yunker, J. (2001) have declared that CVP analysis can not only be used in certain practical decision situations but also provide a conceptual bridge between the accounting and finance literature on CVP analysis under uncertainly and the economic literature on decision making under uncertainty. This shows that CVP is both simple and simplistic. What s more, Ojugo, C. (2009) said that knowing the relationship among cost, volume and profit, or CVP is the most powerful tool and easiest way to make a better decision. It shows the volume of sales required to break even and generate profit, the proper price of the menu is related to the cost of sales. Additionally, Eldneburg Wolcott (2004, p.89) argued that Cost Volume Profit analysis provides information such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Precambrian Era Essay The Precambrian is the name given for the first super eon of Earth s history (Mary Bagley, Accessed: 20th Aug 2016). This era itself has been recorded to be about seven eighths of the entire earth s history. This era stretches across from 4 Billion years ago up until only 543 Million years ago (Mya) which shows how large and substantial this era was. Precambrian itself refers to the time before the Cambrian period. It also refers to the entire period of time before the formation of the oldest rocks with recognisable fossils. Lately, however, it has been seen that some hard to distinguish fossils from in the Precambrian times have been found. The Precambrian Era can be split into three eras: The Hadean, the Archean and also the Proterozoic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life on earth began in the early Archean and fossilized organisms became far more abundant through the entirety of the Precambrian time. Three billion years ago there was no traces of oxygen in the atmosphere, this caused no life to be able to live on earth. At around 2.4 billion years, oxygen was beginning to be released in the oceans as photosynthesis began in cyanobacteria. This process caused the gas levels to slowly grow and eventually made up 1% of the earth s atmosphere at around 2 Bya. By 800 Mya, oxygen levels reached around 20% which let organisms to slowly breathe to life. This spike in oxygen also caused the earth s surface to be shielded from solar radiation. This was the start of the first unicellular organisms. The first multicelled animals started appearing in the records of fossils around 600 million years ago. Fossils found at this time were known as Ediacarans and showed a very important time of evolution for earth. Ediacara fauna was specifically named after the Ediacara hills in South Australia in which they were discovered in the early 1900 s. • 8. Power Of Artificial Intelligence The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple for the uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game opponents, and Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search bar. That is only the beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are researching and developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI how to drive cars by itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions and grow, and thousands of other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many unique ways. It contains many different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning, Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland 2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI in war around the globe, stabilize the economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the inequality caused by it. AI controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might sound like quite the sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn against the people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them? That is one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has chemical weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces are harmed, yet thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes one fighter jet and pilot to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could be deployed halfway across the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of earth, without any threat of danger or harm. • 10. Why Are Planets Spherical Research Paper Why are planets spherical and what would happen if they were a different shape? Nearly every planet, moon or star discovered so far has been roughly spherical. This is because bodies of mass large enough will cause a gravitational pull. As the object gets bigger, the stronger the gravitational pull would be. Along with the gravitational pull that object creates, other objects would have pulls of their own which in turn would affect the other objects shape. One way we can see this is with our moon. Our moon affects the earth s shape by changing the tides every day. The object s spin and orbit would also affects the way that planet is shaped. The faster the object spins the more the equator would bulge. The spin of the object is called the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of The Poem Exposure By Wilfred Owen The poetry written in World War I was mostly dark and told of the terrible conditions of the war. The poetry shows how the soldiers suffered and struggled through unimaginable conditions. The conditions of the weather and battle were often brutal and uninhabitable; yet the soldiers endured these conditions. Nature was often a slow and painful killer. War is a constant in an ever changing world. It is easy to see that fighting is an almost futile attempt to conquer and prevail. The poetry from the war can express the pain of war in a beautiful manner. Through writing the authors can share the pain of what they experienced at war. The difficulty of war is viewed differently through the eyes of these two narrators, and while one views nature as the true enemy, the other sees the loss of people back home as the hardship. The point of view a person has is often shaped by their life experiences. The reader can see how war can change a soldier s ideals as they experience it. In the poem Exposure, Wilfred Owen writes about the mental toll war takes on the human mind. He writes about how the soldier is worried by silence, sentries whisper, curious, nervous but nothing happens . This shows the soldier s paranoia during the night. The soldier s cannot rest even though it is quiet, because they are afraid of what they cannot hear. Their paranoia is taking over their minds and making them nervous about what is to come. • 13. Essay Business Ethics The stockholder and stakeholder theories are two popular frameworks used to examine the purpose of business and its ethical obligations. With reference to the quote above, both theories seem rational and enjoy strong support. However, a common failing of both is typically how humans interpret and implement the theories in contemporary business environments. For instance, Enron was so focused on the raising the price of their stock that they cooked the books to produce fake profits 1. This paper will provide a description of each theory and, analyze ethical justifications and major objections to each theory. The ethical justifications will be based on pertinent examples policies and actions, of businesses such as Wal Mart. Based on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stock chart below illustrates how Wal Mart, one of the companies seen as being stockholder focused, has benefited its stockholders immensely over the last three decades. Ethical theories provide adequate support for the stockholder theory as detailed below. Entitlement theory maintains that if someone acquires resources by just means they are entitled to those resources. Stockholders who acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of the business and entitled to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other stakeholders at the expense of stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Year after year, it has been quoted that Wal Mart pays low wages and appears to aggressively seek to keep wages down 2. In this respect, Wal Mart s policy on employee wages seems to indicate that they respect the stockholder rights over those of their employees. Utilitarianism theory holds the view that profit maximization directly or indirectly maximizes benefits for the greatest number of people. Wal Mart uses its retail clout to bring the lowest possible prices to its customers and the giant retailer is at least partly responsible for the low rate of U.S. inflation 3. Wal Mart s legendary toughness in dealing with suppliers forces them to improve every aspect of their operations and this can help profit growth with other customers as well. Desert ... • 14. Fairness And Control Of Ceo Pay LITERATURE REVIEW Introduction The first challenge addressed by this dissertation is fairness , which necessarily involves relativity. Shareholders may consider fairness in terms of company value added but employees may look at pay distribution. CEO s may compare their compensation with other CEO s and given recent increases in CEO pay, also over time. The second challenge is to understand the role that control may have in a fair pay system, what mechanisms are available and how likely they are to be effective. A substantial amount of literature was researched, and that chosen for inclusion in this review provides a broad range of views and information relating to these challenges. The themes of this review will therefore be fairness and control of CEO pay. Fairness Ground breaking research (Hill, A., Mellon, L., Laker, B. and Goddard J., 2016) was conducted on the relationship between head teacher pay and performance in UK state schools and is relevant as its findings are applicable to CEO in general. British schools offer an excellent benchmarking opportunity as they generate standardised information in the same industry and country, therefore avoiding traditional benchmarking challenges. The study identified two particularly interesting styles of heads. Surgeons act decisively, improving schools by removing poorly performing staff and students, architects are slow moving, meticulous planners who do things in sequence. • 16. Reflection Paper On Child Development On October 21, 2017, I was able to observe Claire Marcus for my Life Span Development class. This observation allowed me observe the physical and cognitive changes children experience. It was performed at the Marcus household in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This observation was consented by Claire s mother. Claire Marcus is a seven year old, female. She enjoys playing sports, having play dates with her friends, and excelling in school. At age seven, children are going through large stages of development physically, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. By observing Claire Marcus, I was able to get a better understanding of these stages of development, and I was able to see her interact with those around her. It gave me the opportunity to see the different stages of development that I have read about in Santrock s book, Essentials of Life Span Development. As stated by Santrock, children at this age are continually growing. In this stage of life, children grow an average of two to three inches each year (Santrock 2014, pg. 191). In the last year Claire grew several inches, and is no longer the shortest girl in her class. She had to get all new clothes and shoes because she quickly out grew her old ones. During this growth spurt, Claire also began gaining muscle, and losing her baby fat. Her mother explained that after Claire s growth spurt she is now the similar size to her friends and classmates. Pleasant High School should have a longer lunch period, because collectively all around it helps staff and students. Kids would actually have time to eat their food. Stress causes kids to do bad academically, because it wears them down, making it hard for them to do their best. • 26. Ozment And The Lutheran Reformation Essay Ozment The Lutheran Reformation By: Hanan M. Madbouly Long before Martin Luther was one of Germany s most famous reformers, Lucas Cranach a painter from Franconia served sixteen years as a court painter in Wittenberg. Wittenberg turned out to be the center for the Renaissance; this small town would be where the Renaissance would emerge. As Luther references it, it became the birthplace of religious pluralism and independent beliefs for freedom that we tend to hold dear today. By doing so, these two men were attracted to one another for the cause of reform, on the cultural, domestic, religious, and political fronts. Cranach had taken up residence in the city in 1505 right around the time Saxon princes seemed to be redeveloping their townhouses, castles, grounds, and churches. Three examples of ancient technological that garnered my attention the most were Sumerian form of writing called cuneiform, the fascinating Assyrians made aqueducts and the sheer scale and integrity of ancient Roman architecture that was brought to the new regions of their empire. Cuneiform was the earliest form of writing in 3100 B.C.E that ushered in the world s first Information age (Fiero 12). The creation of the Sumerian writing system happened because the Mesopotamians needed a way to keep track of clay tokens they used to count agricultural goods. This system was used to keep track of information such as religious activities, business transactions such as trade and sales. Cuneiform was used by scholars to for stories, myths, and personal letters. However, with the right research and a lot of patience it is possible to be successful, but it will not be without challenges. The stock market can be highly unpredictable and can fluctuate at times for reasons we either do not understand or cannot see. Even with research and planning investing in the stock market is a risk, so it is better to approach it with the most information possible. How well you understand stocks and the stock market can be key factors in your success or failure. The first thing a person starting out in stock market investments will need to research is themselves. You will need to look closely at your financial situation and figure out not only how much you can afford to invest, but how much you can afford to lose. While these two things sound like they would be the same thing, they are not. Most people tend to think of investing as making money, not losing it. However, it is possible that a person could lose everything that they invested. The stock market crash in 1929 left many investors penniless and devastated (Colombo). You have to research your finances and decide how much to invest with this type of possibility in mind. The stock market is very unpredictable and the right research here can be the difference between bouncing back after a loss and losing everything. You also need to figure out what your goals are. Heterozygotes, which have the wild type phenotype, have normal sight which gives them the advantage of finding a mate and have a better success with attracting a mate with their courtship song (Kyriacou et al, 1978). The male heterozygous Drosophila had a better advantage at mating than the homozygotes, which were the ebony, and therefore we predict there will be more wild type by the end of the experiment. METHODS: In this experiment, the instructor provided us with 30 ebony individuals and 20 wild type individuals. In order to get an exact amount of each type, we anesthetized the flies and counted them off by gently using a fine point paint brush. Then all 50 Drosophila were put into a population cage which had a lid that had six holes for the centrifuge tubes. Two food tubes and four clean, empty tubes were added on the first day. Each food tube consisted of half a cup full of food mixed with 6 7 milliliters of water. This was the fly medium. The food should turn blue once the water is added. Each tube was labeled with a number and with the date. Every two to three days we added one more food tube until all 6 tubes contained the fly medium. After all 6 tubes were filled, the following days after we exchanged the first food tube with a new food tube. At the end of the experiment, we fed the flies with a total of 8 food tubes.
