Sexual Assault Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of sexual assault is undoubtedly a challenging and sensitive task.
The subject matter requires a careful and empathetic approach, as it involves addressing a deeply
personal and often distressing experience for many individuals. Tackling such a topic demands a
thorough understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault, including its prevalence, impact
on survivors, legal implications, and societal attitudes.
One of the primary difficulties lies in striking the right balance between raising awareness about
the gravity of sexual assault and ensuring that the content remains respectful and empathetic.
There is a fine line between shedding light on the harsh realities of these incidents and avoiding
sensationalism or graphic details that might cause further distress to survivors.
Moreover, navigating through the vast amount of research and statistics related to sexual assault
can be overwhelming. It requires careful selection of reliable sources to ensure the accuracy and
credibility of the information presented in the essay. Ensuring that the essay reflects a
comprehensive understanding of the subject and does justice to the experiences of survivors is
essential but demanding.
Emotionally, it can be challenging for the writer to engage with such a heavy and distressing
topic. Crafting a piece that communicates the gravity of the issue while remaining objective and
informative requires a delicate touch. It's crucial to maintain a tone that is respectful to survivors,
advocates, and the wider audience.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of sexual assault is a complex undertaking that
demands both sensitivity and depth of understanding. It is crucial for the writer to approach the
subject with empathy, accuracy, and a commitment to raising awareness without causing further
harm. Crafting an essay that navigates through the challenges of this topic requires careful
research, thoughtful consideration, and a dedication to promoting understanding and change.
[Note: It is important to address such topics with utmost respect and avoid using them for
promotional purposes. If you need assistance with writing, consider seeking help from reputable
sources that prioritize ethical writing practices.]

Existentialism In Mrs. Dalloway s Waiting For Godot
As a result of both World Wars, many who had been disillusioned by romanticized
ideas of war were shocked by the abrupt pain and loss they experienced. Due to the
excruciating catastrophe of War, people lost faith in religion and humanity and
ultimately felt as though life lacked a meaningful purpose. This pessimistic view of
life brought upon the emergence of existentialismas a prominent philosophical belief
in society. Many Existentialists believed that our lives are ultimately meaningless
and that our existence is comprised entirely of our actions; we must acknowledge
that our lives occur while we are waiting for our inevitable deaths. Mrs. Dalloway
and Waiting for Godotboth exemplify through their characters that human life and
experiences are comprised of the small moments in which we are collectively
waiting for something. This idea of waiting for something is essential to the human
experience because many existentialists of the eras, in which these stories were
written, ultimately believe that a reality in which evils can occur, such as a World
War, could not possibly have a caring God and that our existence must be made up
solely of the actions that are performed in the time spent waiting, Becket would argue
naively, for something to occur.
Mrs. Dalloway takes place in an England which was recovering from the ravishes of
the first World War. Following the war, many people began to lose faith in organized
religion because they could not fathom how an all loving and
Peta And Ethics
The subject of my documentary film will be based on an American interest group
called PETA. PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals , it is an
organization that stands against animal testing and abuse. Founded March 1980 by
Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, PETA s motto remains to be animals are not ours
to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. This
interest group s strong opposing stance on anything related to the animal usage norm
or cruelty in our country, gives members of society a simple reason to support them:
since PETA stands against the mistreatment of animals they must be good. I have
chosen to document this particular subject matter because of the interesting ways

Of course an average person would be against animal cruelty, but would this
individual subscribe to PETA? With so much controversy around this do good
organization, it actually has created a 50/50 audience for PETA. In order to tell
PETA to stop acts that seem hypocritical or honestly a bit extreme, citizens of
society should begin mailing their thoughts to its headquarters in Norfolk, VA. In the
end, it seems the whole of PETA will not be stopped anytime soon because of the
good intentions this company actually has. The only complications that need to be
eliminated from this group are the constant controversy pulls, hypocritical acts, and
ads that are created to intentionally rub the wrong way with most of society or even
their own supporters. Writing PETA or even physically going down to their
headquarters to confront them may be of help for this interest group to finally
behave like a company that only wants to spread a simple message of stopping the

The Duty of the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve Act was signed into law on December 23, 1913. Due to a series
of financial panics around 1907, the Federal Reserve (also referred to as the Fed ) was
created by Congress to promote a stable banking system and an active economy. The
Federal Reserves greatest client and biggest spender is the government of the United
States. All proceeds from taxes generated and disbursements are managed through the
account that the United States government has set up with the Federal Reserve. The
Fed operates independently of the government; however, the Feds jurisdiction
originates from Congress and the Fed is subject to congressional supervision.
Furthermore The President nominates the members of the Board of Governors which
must be confirmed by the Senate. The salaries of the Fed are also set and appointed
by the government. Although the Fed can exercise freedom in monetary
determinations, the existing relationship with the government invites corruption
particularly with the present administration and its champagne socialists.
Thomas Jefferson in the Debate of the Recharger of the Bank Bill in (1809) warned
that banking systems would decimate America. Regardless of the original premise of
good intentions, whenever any system wields this much power manipulation and
avarice ensue. Many consider the economic approach of our forefathers as too
primitive and unsophisticated; however, the laws and standards they established has
made the United States the
How Is Kinky Boots Essay
The film, Kinky Boots, is about a young shoe factory owner named Charlie Price,
and his partnership with a drag queen named Lola. After his father s death, Charlie
had a choice to either sell the company, or to take on the responsibilities left by his
father. Choosing to take on the business, he created a goal to save the factory by
making a shoe designed for a niche market, drag queens. Charlie asked for Lola s
help, and they worked together with the other factory members to produce and bring
these shoes to Milan. As the film progresses, both Charlie and Loladiscover more
about themselves and the friendship between them, thus building up the Kinky Boots
factory striving against all odds.
Modern man s interpretation to mythology differs from time to time as society
continues to evolve. Kinky Boots give out a message of being open to the evolution
of man s perspective and view. The film employs deep understanding to a
conservative society, and the significant existence of drag queens. Charlie signifies
as the archetypal hero in which he was born, or expected to take on the
responsibilities of his father s shoe business, and to triumph against the problems the
factory and his life would present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Impact Of Technology On Graphic Design
PURPOSE
At the end of my speech, the audience will be able to understand the impact that
Technology has on graphic designing.
INTRODUCTION
The age of digital art began in the 1980s and is still present among the millennials.
Dominantly impacting every form of life, technology worse than a virus has become
a way of life. Evidence of technology s supremacy on humanity lies within our grasp,
through the form of communication, production and maintenance. Artists have
exponentially increased their way and limitations in producing more work
depending on the possibilities the digital age has provided. Over the decades,
programs have been created for the enhancement of digital art. A lot more things can
be done on computers and digital software on these computers enable such
possibility. Due this change, is there a possibility that an exchange is being made? At
what cost are striving for change and diversity.
CENTRAL IDEA
Graphic designers should be aware that use of technology to expand the boundaries of
art should be taken cautiously

The Price Of Everything Summary
The Price of Everything is a novel written by Russell Roberts. Russell Roberts is an
economics professor who graduated from the University of Chicago. Roberts uses
novels to teach about important economic topics. The Price of Everything is one of
his five remarkable books. According to book reviews Roberts is a gifted writer. The
main topics discussed throughout The Price of Everything are crises within market
economics, price gouging, and spontaneous order. I mention crises within market
economics first because this is where the The Price of Everything begins. The main
character of the book is Ramon Fernandez, a gifted college tennis play. Ramon and
his girlfriend, Amy, attend Stanford. Ramon and Amy are in search of flashlights...

Amy and Ramon have a place where they meet inside a nature preserve. This nature
preserve is where Amy found her example for class. Shortly before she found her
example, Amy was telling Ramon about an economist she had learned about in high
school whose name was Hayek. Hayek is Nobel Price economist from Austria
Hungary. Hayek was major proponent of spontaneous order. Hayek and some of his
colleagues redefined spontaneous order and established it as sound concept. The free
market system is an example of Spontaneous order. Other examples include:
languages, the universe, Internet, and uncultivated ecosystems. These examples
prove spontaneous order real and
Rival Groups In The Outsiders
In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is about two rival group called the Socs and
the Greasers. The Socs is short word for Social. This rival groups have different
characteristic between them. The Socs are rich and decent. They were mainly on the
West side. The Greasers are poor people from the Socs or the Middle Class and they
are wild people. In this book I would choose Darry as the friend I would have in the
book. I would choose Darry because he is strong and caring. I think Darry would be a
good friend because he is strong. If he s strong he could defend me when I m in
trouble or when people bullies me in school. He would always stand up for me so I
won t get hurt. In the storry Pony Boy says Darry is six feet two, and broad shouldered
The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our...
The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and
Deviancy
We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge.
Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful
in labelling it as, deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or
even culture to culture.
Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour.
The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are
named deviant but others are not.
Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has
negative consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on
the social reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on
the interaction processes leading to the labelling, these being two important elements
of the theory.
The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important.
Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will
accept the label, and for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a
deviant subculture, feeling they have no other alternative.
The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled
criminal evolves into a complete, absolute deviant.
Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual,
he supports and reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in
a society is essential, and is beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil.
Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory,
a vast majority of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in
helping the offenders be rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will
not agree to participate in this.
Another implication is that criminal law
Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay
Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life,
more than billion people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them
used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In
some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the
water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in
the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted
sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean
drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and
they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space
Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit,
specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture,
including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only
solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them
can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young
children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their
best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working
with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made
them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their
unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria,
were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the
fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and
bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The
Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through
them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter,
explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were
designed by using membranes with small pores so
A Truly Beautiful Soul in The Idiot, by Fyodor
Dostoyevsky...
The Russian novelist Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky stands at the very summit of
Russian literature. No 19th century writer had greater psychological insight or
philosophical depth. None speaks more immediately and passionately to the mood
and tone of the present century. This essay will discuss how Dostoyevskys intent to
portray a truly beautiful soulmanifests itself in the novel The Idiot, and access
Dostoyevsky s success or failure in achieving his intention.
Dostoyevsky confesses in his letter to Maikov dated January 12, 1868 that his
desperate situation compelled him to resort to the fascinating and tempting, but
nonetheless difficult and premature thought of portraying a wholly beautiful
individual. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would suggest that Myshkin could not possibly embody beauty since he is
ineffectual and destructive and ultimately inadvertently assists a murder of a
physically beautiful woman. I will try to show in my essay though that although this
is a deliberately pessimistic and truthful hypothesis, Dostoyevsky does portray a truly
beautiful soul .
The proposal of The Idiot is to expose the contradiction between worldly and
heavenly values: a saint , like Prince Myshkin, is considered an idiot . He doesn t
see what everybody sees, because he has got his eyes set not in other people s
faces, but in their souls. Just like the author, he is a psychologist: and a psychologist
not only with a complete understanding of every individual s minds, but also full of
compassion for each one of their failures. Once again, we see the triad compassion
/forgiveness/love as the main message of the book.
Prince Myshkin is Dostoyevsky s positive character. He is an ideal Christian and
lives by the virtue of such ideals. He is compassionate, benevolent, patient and
forgiving. He arrives in Russia at the age of twenty six having spent four years in
Switzerland treating his epilepsy and mental illness. He refers to himself as an idiot
because of this illness. The reason for his arrival to St. Petersburg is to start a new
life with the help of his distant relative Elizaveta Prokofievna Yepanchin. At their
family home he is attracted to Aglaya as a new hope. He

The Lucifer Effect By Philip Zimbardo Essay
The Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo, presents a significant question regarding the
essence of human nature: How is it possible for typical, ordinary or even good
natured people to become capable of perpetrating evil? While striving to understand
unexpected, or abnormal behaviors, we tend to put our main focus on internal
determinants such as genes, character, and personality, simultaneously ignoring
external, situational factors that could be the central, critical catalyst for an apparent
behavioral change. Typically, this catalyst lies in the system that creates and
maintains such situations that result in questionable behaviors. Zimbardo confirms
that the world is filled with good and evil. With that being said, the barrier between
good and evil is permeable and nebulous. This leads the reader to this central
question: Am I capable of evil? In order to answer this question, one must consider all
internal, as well as, external elements of the given situation. Summary: The book, The
Lucifer Effect, gives a detailed chronologic transformation of human character that
took place during Zimbardo s prison experiment. This experiment consisted of
randomly assigning twenty four healthy, normal intelligent college students. Twelve
of the twenty four individuals were assigned to role play the prisoners (nine plus
three alternates), and the other twelve were chosen to role play the prison guards
(also, nine plus three alternates). These students had no prior record of criminal
Parmalat Case Study
What is the role that Parmalat s management and its accounting department played in
this case? Parmalat was founded in 1961 in Northern Italy. The company eventually
grew into one of the largest diary and food company in Italy and eventually became
a multinational conglomerate with 214 subsidiaries in 48 different countries. In
1990, the company s financial performance began to slip. Instead of resolve the
problems, Parmalat executives and managements used a wide range of unethical
techniques to disguise them. For instance, they used receivables from fake sales as
collateral to borrow money from bank, created fake assets by inflating reported
assets, and took legitimate debt from investors (Glater, 2004). Additionally,
executives worked with investment bankers to move debt off balance sheetand
disguised it as equity. Lastly, they conspired with third party auditors and bankers
to further finance the fraud (Rimkus, 2016). As a result, Parmalat collapsed with
debts of €14 billion in 2013. It is considered to be Europe s biggest corporate
failure and often known as Europe s Enron (Segreti, 2010).
Compare and contrast the U.S. GAAP and the IFRS; which is a better system, and
why? Should the United States move to IFRS? There are many similarities and
differences between the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
and the International Financial Reporting Standards) IFRS. According to

persuades the reader to use persuasion.
The greatest accomplishment of this book is that it is not
Character Analysis of Celie, the Color Purple Essay
Celie Being a black female in the south during the early 1900 s, at a time when
white and blacks were socially segregated and women were absolutely inferior to
men, was one of the many challenges Celie would be faced with in her lifetime.
Born in 1895, Celie was raised on a farm in a small town in Georgia where formal
education took a back seat to physical labor and household maintenance, and the
Church was the main focal point of socialization among local town members. We are
first introduced to Celie in 1909, when she is 14 years old, running and frolicking
through the fields with her sister Nettie, then giving birth to her second child by her
step father. Soon after the newborn was taken out of her arms, an emotionless and...

born. Mister s name, Albert, is discovered during Shug s first day at the farm. Celie
watches Albert, with child like amusement and curiosity, as he fumbles through
trying to impress Shug by making her breakfast. In an effort to win over Shug,
who previously declared Celie as ugly, she prepares an award winning breakfast
that even Shug couldn t turn away. Over time, a relationship begins to form
between Shug and Celie, leading Shug to write and sing a song dedicated to her at
the jook joint, filling Celie with an unknown type approval and love. Celie shows
us that her capacity to love and to be loved is blooming during the scene of her
first kiss with Shug. Thrown into young adulthood at the early age of 14, at 21
years old Celie now begins the true process of developing intimacy with an unlikely
character for the time. A long lasting friendship and mutual love affair between
Celie and Shug has begun, and will later prove to be her saving grace as her
confidence, identity, purpose, and will increase. Shug plans to leave
The Charge Of The Light Brigade Is Not A True War Story...
According to the Freytag s pyramid, a story must contain five parts: exposition,
rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. All throughout my life I ve
held these as irrevocable characteristics of a story; more in particular, that all
stories must have a resolution. However, reading Tim O Brian s How to Tell a
True War Story has challenged this notion. O Brian argues that a true story a war
story, in particular doesn t necessarily have a satisfying resolution or a moral. War
is too complex to render in simple terms; a true war story is neither about bravery
nor heroism. Thus, based on these criteria, I d argue that Lord AlfredTennyson s
piece, The Charge of the Light Brigade, is not a true war story. First of all, I d like to
make it clear: by stating that this piece is not a true war story I do not intend to
undermine the poem or the author, nor mislabel them as chauvinistic. The Charge of
the Light Brigade is, undoubtedly, an anti war poem. That becomes self evident after
the first read. But if the reader applies the biographical strategies to learn more about
the author s life and thus, understand his work more fully, the reader might find
useful to know that Lord Tennyson never actually fought in the Crimean warhimself.
In fact, he was the oxymoron of a wardog; he was the Poet Laureate of the United
Kingdom whose works reflect his anti war posture. Lord Tennyson was an academic,
not a fighter. He learned about the heavy losses the Light Cavalry
A Genealogy Of Modern Racism Analysis
Power can be displayed through architecture in a wide array of forms i.e. wealth,
class, cleanliness, and structure. Power is described in many ways and portrayed by
others differently based from experiences. In regards to architecture, my definition of
power is described through overall structure and the vibe of the building. When
returning to downtown Tucson, I went to the building which I thought portrayed this
power, was The Cadence apartments. During my return trip to downtown Tucson I
visited my favorite place and the one which I felt held the most power. The Cadence
apartment gives anyone who enters it the feel of a five star hotel. The apartments gave
the ambience of upper class with its constant cleaning crew working to keep it in
prestige condition and multiple amenities only the nicest and most powerful of
places would possess. When entering, you are welcomed to a long all white
hallway with multiple fireplaces and flat screen televisions. The all white building
gives the impression of a sleek and clean upper class building. After continuing
down the hall, you are greeted by a fully equipped gym and a large pool and hot tub.

physical characteristics. This reading ties this power to white supremacy which holds

architecture as well. These physical characteristics can be portrayed through
architecture through color, such as white being sleek and expensive, and structure,

Key Results Of Testing For Ppp
5 Empirical Findings
5.1 Introduction
Following the methodology section, this chapter is going to present the main
findings of the PPP test and relevant information, graphs and tables will be shown
as well. The purpose of this part is to provide key results of testing for PPP in order
to facilitate the following detailed discussions. It is no doubt that this section can
be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety of
econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major
aspects: the one is on the examine of the APPP, namely the strong version of PPP;
the other is on the test of the RPPP, also known as the weak form of PPP.
5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP
As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real
exchange rate is equal to one. The formula is expressed as:
For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to:
where Et represents the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt
means the Indian CPI.
Before analysing, what should do is to transmute the raw data into the natural
logarithm form. According to Jia and Rathi (2008), the major cause of transformation
is that taking natural logarithms not only indicates the elasticity of economic
variables, but eliminates the issue of heteroscedasticity efficiently. If an econometric
model is heteroscedastic, the test of significance for variables will be meaningless
and the parameter
Differences Between Seals And Walruses
In contrast to whales, seals and walruses have remained heavily furred marine
mammals. There are several differences that make the retention of fur an adaptive
trait in seals and walruses. These advantages can be divided into three categories;
life aspects, evolutionary descent, diving differences. The first among these are
their life aspects. Seals and walruses spend much of their time in the water foraging
however; land is required for the birthing and rearing of their young. In addition to
this seals are one of the few species in which the female receives no help in raising
their young. The female is the sole provider of food for herself and the infant
meaning she must leave the infant alone on the surface while she hunts. Young seals

Whales are descended from large hoofed predators called mesonychids in the
Pakistan area. While seals and walruses descended from a bear like ancestor, the
ursoids. (Rybczynski, Dawson, and Tedford 2009) In addition the carnivores and
ungulates had long since separated before the convergent evolution that lead to
whales, seals and walruses to move back to the ocean. (Prothero 2014) The
predatory nature of carnivore that leads them to hunt their prey may also play a
part in differentiating these mammals. They hunt animals that may live in the sea
or on land such as the penguin and must be adapted as such to follow their prey
from sea to land in order to catch it. During the evolution of these animals hair was
lost in the whales but retained in the seals and walruses another reason this may
have happened is because some seals and walruses eat the mussels, clams and
other bivalves that live on the ocean floor. Hair in the form of whiskers or vibrissae
that is present in seals and walruses serves a mechanoreception role. They assist in
finding food such as mussels and clams on the ocean floor. These vibrissae have a
sensitive innervated sinus area that allows the vibrissae to be used as a sensory
organ rather than for thermoregulation as the rest of the body fur is used. It may be
that the body fur remains because of these vibrissae. If the seals and walruses were
to begin losing the fur on their body as insulation and to spend more time in the sea
than they could also risk losing the vibrissae that assists them in finding food below
the ocean surface since it too is a type of hair. (Maderson

Hosokawa s relationship with Roxanne Coss, may have been the primary factor in
his transformation throughout the novel; considering the fact that in the beginning
of the novel his passion lies in opera. Roxanne is the physical embodiment of opera
in the eyes of Mr. Hosokawa and many others, and being able to listen to Roxanne
Coss perform every day served as a catalyst in the transformation that changed his
overall perspective on life.
Gen Watanabe is another characterthat undergoes a transformation through a
relationship in the novel. Gen is introduced to the audience as a simple translator
who works for Mr. Hosokawa, yet he initially finds it difficult to express his thoughts
and emotions on his own:
Gen, in his genius for languages, was often at a loss for what to say when left with
only his own words. If Mr. Hosokawa had still been sitting there he might have said
to Gen, Go and see what that girl wants, and Gen would go and ask her without
hesitation. It had occurred to him in his life that he had the soul of a machine and

Research Paper On Hysteria
Introduction Many people ask, What is hysteria? According to dictionary.com, the
exact definition is: an uncontrollable outburst of emotion or fear, often characterized
by irrationality, laughter, weeping, etc. As well, there is a psychological answer for
hysteria. Many psychologists state that hysteria can range from numbness to paralysis
as well as vomiting to erectile dysfunction. With that being said, many people know
hysteria as the state when people become irrational. Throughout history, there have
been many cases of hysteria, one of the most well known being the Salemwitch trials.
There have been more recent cases of mass hysteria. With the year 1999 coming to

The US, planned for this by passing the Year 2000 Information and Readiness
Disclosure Act. This act, which was signed in 1998 by Bill Clinton, encouraged
businesses to disclose information about the Y2K bug. If a company did comply with
this and release information that they knew, their business would be protected if they
had lost customers. Britain was another greatly prepared. The British Government
would provide armed forces if the police, transportation, and emergency services
failed. However, smaller countries and even Russia and Italy had done very little
preparing.
Aftermath
The aftermath of the Y2K bug was quite surprising. There was, for one, an estimated
$300 billion spent to upgrade computers for the Y2K bug. Almost half of that was
spent in the United States, alone. However, there were a few problems due to the
bug. For instance. A nuclear facility in Ishikawa, Japan failed. This would have
been a problem except that the backups ensured everyone s safety. Another problem,
was the US detected missile launches in Russia. The world had planned ahead of
time, due to its conflict in their republic of Chechnya. However, there were many
sighs of relief at the end of the day.

The Apostle Peter s Position In The Catholic Church
T he Apostle Peter s position within the Catholic faith is such that he receives high
praises as the first Bishop and first Pope of Rome, and the chief pastor of the whole
Roman Catholic Church. There are various reasons why Peter has held such a high
honor and respect within the Catholic Church. Moreover, after reading the Acts of
Peter, if true, one may become overwhelmed with admiration for this noble apostle,
and appreciate Peter s placement within the Catholic Church, and why he is thus
admired. There were several disciples of Jesus that were crucified for being
Christians and the Apostle Peter were one that occurs in a number of striking works
of art that displays Peter being crucified upon a cross upside down; such as the one at
the beginning of this chapter. Still, the most noteworthy ingredient regarding the
reason for Peter s death essentially is void in the majority of widely held historical
documentation. As set forth in the New Testament, it is known that Peter had a wife
at the time of Jesus ministry (Matt 8:14); yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, Peter flees town due to all the threats; whereupon, Jesus then appears to
him and gives the impression He wants Peter to return. Specifically, the importance
of Jesus appearance to Peter is crucial; since due to Jesus, the crucifixion of Peter
takes place. Plausibly, with Jesus acknowledgement, Peter is put to death for his
belief in celibacy. This startling occurrence is mind boggling and dramatic! Jesus
noticeably inspires Peter to die for this belief; for indeed, Peter goes back to Rome
rejoicing, and then is crucified. In the end, there is no adequate reason why Peter
would go through the dreadful act of crucifixion, for the extreme idea of total chastity
/celibacy; unless this teaching came directly from Jesus that taught Peter the real

The Stages Of Grief Have Been A Topic Of Debate In Grief
The stages of grief have been a topic of debate in grief counseling since their
introduction in 1969 by Elisabeth Kubler Ross, in her book On Death and Dying .
These stages of grief can be loosely described as a cycle of emotions that humans
can expect to feel, resulting from some type of unexpected loss. Griefand loss is very
normal process, and something most people will be forced to cope with at some
point in their lives. However, to categorize each person s feelings into an arbitrary
set of stages would not be realistic.
In general, the five stages of grief are described as Denial, Anger, Bargaining,
Depression, and Acceptance. The bereavement community has been quick to accept
and assign grief in stages, most likely to lend a ... Show more content on

People in denial often withdraw from their normal social behavior and become
isolated. Denial has no set time frame, or may never be felt at all. However, it is
considered the first stage of grief.
Anger The second stage of grief is Anger. People that are grieving often become
upset with the person or situation which put them in their grief state. After all, their
life could now be in complete disarray. The path of least resistance is anger as
opposed to facing the consequences of a loss head on. In the case of death, the
anger is often focused toward the deceased for leaving that person behind and unable
to cope. Other times people become angry at themselves if they feel they could have
done something more to stop the loss from happening.
Bargaining The third stage of grief is Bargaining. This is when those who are
grieving are reaching out to the universe to make the pain go away. It is actually
very normal, and largely considered to be a sign that they are beginning to
comprehend their situation. People will often try to make a deal, or promise to do
anything, if the pain will be taken away.
Depression The fourth stage of grief is Depression. Contrary to popular belief,
depression is something that may take some time to develop. We often think we are
depressed when a grief event first occurs, but there is

The Imitation Game
A text that I Would recommend to all year 12 students is the historical film The
Imitation Game, directed by Morten Tyldum. I would recommend this text
because of how we can learn from the theme of Homophobia and the idea of
Individualism. The film is about Alan Turing and his struggle to create a machine
to decipher the enigma code used by the germans in the second world war.
Throughout the film he works past obstacles in his way in order to achieve this
goal of creating a mechanical mind .The film is mostly shown as a series of
flashbacks from Alan as he is questioned by the police about being accused of the
crime of indecency (homosexuality). The first reason I recommend this film to year

Drugs And Drugs
A. Introduction About $800 Billion worth of drugs are sold every year. The drug
industry has affected agriculture in various ways. While some may think that drug
industry has done good for the agriculture industry. It has also had repercussions.
Drugs not only affect our ecosystem, it also affects us human beings, animals, and
plants. It s similar to a cycle, we start off with the ecosystem, which then leads to
plants, then the animals, to human beings. If the drugindustry is affecting the whole
agriculture industry it s affecting the whole world. Drugs affectour ecosystem by the
pollution, drugs affect plant growth, drugs affect animals development, and all of
these affect what we has humans eat on a daily basis. If something goes wrong
because of the drugs that the farmers are using, at the end it will affect humans
beings that have either consumed or inhaled; and it will be corrupting the whole
agriculture industry which could ve been prevented.
B. Drug History A little bit of history of how marijuana began to go high in
demand. Marijuana was one of the first drugs that became popular. In 1616 tobacco
was known as the expert item because of Jamestown. Spaniards found the natives in
the West Indies using the tobacco plant. The spaniards then took some of the tobacco
seeds to Europe, which then ended up spreading to other countries and around the
Mediterranean Sea. The person who discovered this was, John Rolfe. He then began

Early Childhood Education Essay examples
Play is developmentally appropriate for primary age children and can provide them
with opportunities that enrich the learning experience (Copple Bredekamp 2009).
Early childhood education holds two main focuses; a child based focus and a family
based focus. Early childhood education has positive outcomes on the child through
their learning experiences, and their growth and development. Based on the family,
the results of early education happen through the communication that the family has
with the educators and by the encouragement they get from within themselves, and
also from the educators.

Educators can facilitate the children with different materials and environments in the
classrooms that are in the early learning centres. The children need to develop their
minds cognitively. Children actively construct knowledge as they manipulate and
explore their world (Berk 2007). Children are needing to develop their abilities
through their play experiences, and also through their play experiences, they can
develop appropriately. Early childhood education plays a large part in a child s early
development. Children develop cognition through two main stages that Jean Piaget
theorized. The stages run from birth and infancy to school age children.
Sensorimotor is the first stage and goes from birth to about the age of two. This
stage implies that the children learn about the environment they live in and they learn
this through the reflexes and movements they produce. They also learn that they are
separate people from their parents and they can say goodbye to them and know they
will come back. The second stage is called the preoperational stage. During this stage
of development, children will learn how to incorporate symbols to represent objects.
This is also the beginning of learning the alphabet and speech. The child is still very
much egocentric at this point in time, but with the help of understanding educators,
the child will grow appropriately onto the next stages of development. Finally, the
children need to develop emotionally/socially.
Wicked Marxist Analysis
Marxist Lens in Wicked Gregory Maguire s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of
the Wicked Witch of the West is a fictional representation of many problems faced
by the world in the past and present. It follows the life of Elphaba, who later
becomes the Wicked Witch of the West , a result from her life experiences as a

several other trials she s faced. Maguire was born in Albany, New York and lost his

Margaret Sanger s Revolution For Women s Rights
Margaret Sanger s Revolution for Women s Rights Today the world s population

and the other half women. Now imagine living in a world where those seven billion
people didn t have rights connected to their own bodies. In the field of reproductive
rights, imagine if there was no form of contraceptives, birth control, or any type of
sexual education information to the public. The world would be in shambles being
over populated beyond capacity for life on Earth. This have might have been the
case if it weren t for the advocate in her field called Margaret Sanger. Sanger was a

overcrowded streets of families that lived in New York. One particular case she
always told was the story of Sadie Sachs which influenced her to really do
something about women s rights and control over their own bodies. That
influenced me to pick her to write and research about her. As the story went Sanger
said, Sadie had developed an infection from an illegal abortion and begged Sanger
and the doctor to tell her how to prevent another child, thinking it would kill her.
The doctor scoffed at her remark and promptly left, leaving Sachs with Sanger. She
begged for her to tell her a way to prevent conception, but Sanger could not tell her
anything, as it was illegal, (Katzive, 2015, p. 128). She felt enraged by how she
couldn t simply help a women in need of wanting to learn how to prevent herself
from having any more children. After the incident she met her future husband,
William Sanger and together they had three children. Not only did William give
Margaret the gift of children and a family, but also gave her the opportunity to
finally share her knowledge of the topic pertaining to women and the use of
contraception. Since William belonged the Socialist Party, Sanger became affiliated
with The New York Call. This was a socialist newspaper where not only did she
write a column on birth control, but later she got an opportunity to create her own
newspaper which was called The Woman Rebel.
Medication Barcode Scanning Essay
Medication Barcode Scanning (MBS) has been considered as one of the significant
ways of reducing medication error. It begins from when medication is ordered by the
doctor, a pharmacist reviews the order prior to supplying the medication to the nurse
who then administers the medication to the patient (Department Veterans Affairs,
2003)). Study stated that from about 450,000 drug adverse effect that occur yearly,
about 25% would be avoided with the use of certain technologies like medication
barcodescanning (Bates, Cullen Laird et al, 1995). According to Seibert, Maddox,

computerized prescriber order entry (CPOE), smart computerized I.V. infusion pumps,

POC simply means scanning patient s medication at bedside before administering
medication. This enhances safe practice by making sure that the patients take the
right medication observing the five rights of medication administration (Waxlax,

insulin, medications in the form of ampules, ointments and creams, to mention but a
few need to be paid attention to as this will improve the practice of POC scanning
leading to error reduction during medication administration (Waxlax, 2015). For
instance medication in the form of ampules are titrated in the medication room. As a
result of not preparing the said medication at the patient s bedside, the nurse cannot
be able to scan the barcode because he/she does not have it at that time. To
accomplish the practice of POC scanning, butterfly flag labels with the appropriate
barcode, can be placed both to the ampule and the syringe so that when the ampule is
opened, then the nurse can take the label from the ampule and the syringe to the
patient s bedside for scanning before administering the medication (Waxlax,

Blurred Lines In J. C. Burke s The Story Of Tom Brennan

Born on December 17, 1770, Beethoven was a child Maria Magdalena Keverich
and Johann Van Beethoven, where he was born and raised in Bonn, Germany. At
quite a young age, Beethoven began exhibiting impressive musical talents.
Following, Beethoven s father became his initial musical instructor, however his
methods of teaching were certainly questionable. Johann was brute, it was
accounted for by neighbors that they witnessed a small child weeping playing the
clavier while standing atop a footstool to reach the keys. His father shadowed him
and punished him for every mistake; he also overworked and deprived him of
sleep. With his father, Beethoven studied the clavier as well as the violin. He also
received additional lessons from organists in the city he resided in, adding to his
workload. Hoping for his son to be recognized as a musical prodigy, Beethoven s
first recital was held on March 26, 1778 when he was seven years old.
Unfortunately, the performance was not a success, not in the way his father had
hoped, Beethoven s talents where indeed portrayed, however it did not receive the
type of recognition that Johann had hoped for as there was no press or publicity.
Meanwhile, average was a fitting word to describe Beethoven s studies, music came
more naturally to him than anything else. Therefore, he withdrew from school at the
age of ten and committed his life to music. Following, he began to study music with

Compare and Contrast Captivity Narratives Essay
Contrasting and Comparing Captivity Narratives The captivity narrative genre
includes writings by or about people captured by an enemy, usually one who is
considered by the hostage to be a foreign and uncivilized heathen, and was especially
popular in America and England in the seventeenth through late nineteenth centuries.
Documents from the time show that between 1675 and 1763, at least 1,641 New
Englanders were held in captivity as hostages, though many believe that the
numbers are drastically low because of poor record keeping (Vaughan, 53).
Regardless of the exact number of hostages, the fact is that thousands of people were
profoundly affected by being held captive by the Indians. Some of those people,

She writes that at one point, an Indian couple told her they would help her escape
and even go with her. She declined saying that she would wait for God s time, that

during Cabeza de Vaca s escape from one tribe of Indians, other Indians asked for
him to heal their sick. These Indians, like those who allowed Rowlandson a Bible
to read, did not prevent their captives from keeping their own religion (Cabeza de
Vaca 19). Mary Jemison had a markedly different captivity experience. In the late
1750s, when Jemison was just fifteen years old, her family was captured by the
Seneca Indians. Soon after they were captured, Jemison saw her family murdered
and scalped. Like Rowlandson and Cabeza de Vaca, she was initially in fear for
her life. She expected at any moment that she too would be scalped by her captors.
At the same time, like Rowlandson, she was just as frightened by the idea of
escape. She lamented that should she sneak away that she would be alone and
defenseless in the forest, surrounded by wild beasts that were ready to devour her
(Seaver). Jemison was given to two squaws as a replacement for a brother who was
lost in war. After a ritual of mourning, the female Indians dressed Jemison in native
clothing, renamed her Deh he wä mis which meant pretty girl and accepted her as
one of their own. She learned their way of life

by Parks Canada and their lock staff. Becoming employed on the Rideau Canal is a
fantastic opportunity whether you are a lockmaster, canalman, or a student; for each
of these positions you have to complete a test varying in difficulty the higher the
positon is.
To be a student the only requirement other than passing the test in the interview is to
be a full time student; whether that be high school or college/university. I myself have
the privilege of being a student on the canal over the summer and there is nothing I
would rather be doing with my summers; as long as I m an exceptional employee I

Along this stretch of water today there are many sites that are the most visited by
tourists such as Ottawa, Merrickville, Jones Falls, and Kingston Mills lock station.
This is only some of the total 23 lock stations on the main route adding up to 45
locks with the 23 stations. The largest running on the canal these days is the
Kawartha Voyageur being 120 feet in length; since every lock can only
accommodate a boat 110 feet long the Kawartha has a back deck that folds upwards

Technical Writing Course Reflective Report
Introduction.
Technical writing is an invaluable course required in the RN to BSN degree plan. The
technical writing course educates students on the awareness of technical
communication and provides essential tools that can be implemented into any career.
Gurak and Lannon (2016) define technical communication as a tool to aid in
facilitating the exchange of information between professionals, to ultimately establish
goals, create solutions and amend problems as a unit (p. 3). This memo is intended to
reflect on the course, writing assignments completed, what I learned and how it
relates back to my nursing profession.
The course.
First of all, I learned technical writing is a skill all medical professionals should
possess. At first I believed this course would primarily focus on ... Show more content

Acquiring skills studied throughout this course make me a more desirable employee.
The adequate implementation of adequate technical communication skills saves lives,
money, and elevates patient satisfaction scores. Safety of both staff and patients can
only be accomplished and maintained with proper communication and timely
notification as a team. My number one goal each day as a clinical staff nurse is
making sure my patients are taken care of adequately and safety is maintained at all
times. Within this course, I learned the value of communication in accomplishing my
goals. Adequate communication is vital in establishing a good rapport, maintaining
safety goals, and ultimately saving lives. Communication is essential in successfully
completing tasks such as patient teaching, SBAR, inputting electronic assessments,
verifying orders and consents, and running a code. In other words, all of these skills
involve diverse aspects of technical writing to ensure the correct message gets across
to the right person (audience) in the appropriate
Literature Review On Boutique Hotels
The importance of leadership has been investigated in alternate points of view as
Nebel suggested Leadership was a process of getting the willing cooperation of
employees to perform in ways consistent with organizational goals . Authority, as
per Tubb and Schulz (2006, p. 29) is characterized as affecting others to fulfil
departmental objectives. Meanwhile, competency is characterized as a blend of
noticeable and connected learning abilities and practices that help a group improve
and go forward. Crawford depicted these skills as attributes of a person that were
used with superb execution in an occupation or circumstance.
Competency skills measure work accomplishment in both intellectual and

Such hotels started becoming known during the 1980s, in major cities like London
and New York. The intimate size of boutique hotels produces its characteristic
personal feeling and ambiance. While some travellers enjoy the atmosphere of such
compact sized hotels, others may opt for the feeling obtained from grand hotels.
Often, a boutique hotel brings about a strong sense of place, since they are
furnished to follow a certain bold theme and style and are therefore said to contain
luxury facilities in unique and stylish settings. One of their main aims is to offer
services in a welcoming setting, which is rarely found amongst large hotels. They
therefore make exceptional personal service their mission, since they have more time
to focus on doing so because of their smaller size.
Until recently, in Mata, there was only a handful of boutique hotels but they are now
increasing instantly. These are still something new and exciting on the Island.
Boutique hotels are often described to be one of a kind , due to such independent
styles and attitudes. Therefore, they are not generic but highly

Martha Stewart Scandal
Even if they d never met her in person, people would talk about being like Martha,
dressing like Martha, or having tastes like Martha (Knowledge Wharton, 2004).
Martha Stewart, Omni Media CEO, represents the company s image more than
anything else; being tied directly to the company can damage reputation when the
CEO is in the middle of a public scandal. After all, Stewart was an Icon to many
women and her reputation is what helped her brand be so successful. From
magazines to TV shows Martha Stewart Living Omnimediawas becoming a very
successful company. Martha Stewart LivingOmnimedia will also be referred to as
MSLO.

trading with the stock of ImClone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stewart then built a website in which where she tried to claim she was innocent but
did not communicate effectively. Marthatalks.com, which is now unavailable, the
site launched by her PR firm which began to show Stewart as a good natured person.
The website contained letters from Stewart, fan mail, and case updates. This was
able to make the public more aware of her situation and bring them hope that he
would be okay.
When she was sent to prison Martha Stewart compared herself to President Nelson
Mandela as an example of the many good people who have gone to prison. While
in Jail she would post letters about her life in prison so fans could read how she
was doing; even though she went to prison she still retained a pretty loyal fan base.
Omni media did some damage control and repositioned the brands image; Martha
Stewart was taken off magazine covers, and her name was made smaller on other
products. In an effort to stop the losses MSOL dropped the Letter from Martha in
Living magazine and reduced the size of her name on the cover of the Magazine
Stewart even decided to go to prison early against advice from her lawyers and this
was another key tool in her communication. This finally showed people that she
truly accepted her decisions and wanted to serve her time and move on; her fan base
stayed by her side and this is what made the difference in her current success. Once
Stewart was out of prison she became the spotlight of the company again.

My Experience With My Family Trips
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better was an
outlook I found within my research for this trip (Einstein). Family trips are always an
interesting experience and sometimes hard to understand. Between the arguing and
stress of packing, my family finds a way to get on the road quite often. However, the
next tripplanned arose a new level of anxiety. Until this trip, I have never traveled to
a place far from society and slept within the pure darkness of the night. The
adrenaline rush of hunting to find a safe space for shelter, hanging a bear bag, and
climbing the cliffs of Red RiverGorge was an experience I did not expect; however,
my father, brother, two other family friends, and I conquered this expedition... Show

Spring break came faster than I imagined, and we were soon on the road to
nowhere. The trip became more nerve racking as we made our last stop with
civilization at the park ranger s office. The ranger was very hopeful that we would
not run into too many issues within our trip, however, I was not. He made it clear
that we must take all bear precautions, even though he attempted to convince us there
were no bears in the area. He also made it clear we must find high ground for camp
due to weather concerns. Listening to his safety speech made me regret committing
to this adventure.
After gathering our packs and a map from the office, we approached the first trail.
My shoes were tied, my pack was on securely, and I realized what we were actually
about to do. The first couple of miles seemed easy because the trail was wide and
the elevation was only increasing slowly. By the fourth mile, the trip began to
change. My ten year old brother and his friend became tired and the elevation was
dramatically increasing. The small wide hills became steep, narrow rocks. Scott
took the lead to find safe footwork. This is when I regretted the forty pound
backpack. Using Scott s hand and a tree limb I pulled myself up an almost four
foot tall rock and then another. I turned around to look back at the rest of the group
and realized I was only a couple inches away from falling off an eighteen foot drop.
Critical Analysis Of Adam Smith, Karl Marx, And John...
The three business analysts profiled in this article Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and John
Maynard Keynes contributed generously to the advancement of financial aspects as a
science. By and by, contemplations of generation, dissemination, decision, shortage,
and exchange utilizes far originate before these men, to the soonest days of mankind.
Ages before there was financial idea, there was monetary conduct. Adam Smith, a
Scot and a savant who lived from 1723 to 1790, is viewed as the originator of current
financial aspects. In Smith s chance, logic was a sweeping investigation of human
culture notwithstanding an investigation into the nature and importance of presence.
Profound examination of the universe of business undertakings drove Smith to the
conclusion that by and large the people in the public arena, each acting in his or her
own self intrigue, figure out how to deliver and buy the products and enterprises that
they as a general public require. He called the component by which this self control
happens the undetectable hand, in his weighty book, The Wealth of Nations,
distributed in 1776, the time of America s Declaration of Independence. While Smith
couldn t demonstrate the presence of this hand (it was, all things considered,
imperceptible) he exhibited many examples of its working in the public arena.
Basically, the butcher, the dough puncher, and the candle creator exclusively continue
on ahead. Every deliver the measure of meat, bread, and candles he judges
The Role Of Power And Power In Jane Eyre
Throughout the Victorian Age, male dominance deprived women from freedom of
choice. In Charlotte BrontГ« s novel, Jane Eyre, Jane Eyre repeatedly struggles to
become an independent young lady due to the troublesome men in the story. There
are several male characters who control, humiliate, and abuse their power over Jane.
The author manages to depict patriarchal dominance through the characterization of
John Reed, Mr. Brocklehurst, and Mr. Rochester. In the novel s exposition, Jane Eyre,
a ten year old child, begins to face gender injustice by his cousin, John Reed. In In
the Window Seat: Vision and Power in Jane Eyre, Peter J. Bellis states, John Reed
claims the house and its contents as his . . . (641). He exerts authority on her
simply because he is a male by abusing and bossing her, making it seem as if he
owns her. The situation starts holding Jane back as a female, leaving her
defenseless, as the powerless victim of its oppressive force (Bellis 641). John
greatly contributed to Jane s suffering as a child, by abusing the power he had over
her. She speaks of how John harshly demanded of her, saying, I want you to come
here; and, seating himself in an armchair, he intimated by a gesture that I was to
approach and stand before him, referring to him as master (4). The simple act of
her needing to call him master demonstrates the dominance he possesses. He
deprived her of freedom such as simply reading a book by controlling her life at a
young age, and it
Greg Cantor Research Paper
A famous German mathematician, Georg Cantor is known for discovering and
building a hierarchy of infinite sets according to their cardinal numbers. He is also
known for inventing the Cantor set, which is now a fundamental theory in
mathematics. Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born on March 3, 1845
in Saint Petersburg, Russia, to Georg Waldemar Cantor and Maria Anna Bohm. His
father was a German Protestant and his mother was Russian Roman Catholic. Cantor
was brought up as a staunch Protestant and inherited the love for the arts from his
parents. He displayed an aptitude for music at a young age. He also excelled in his

In addition, he established the importance of one to one correspondence in set theory.
He suffered from mental illness during the later years of his life, yet he remained
actively involved in mathematical works. He was awarded the Sylvester Medal,
which is a highly prestigious award in mathematics. Cantor was also interested in
music and arts. It is said that Cantor was a spiritual personality and believed that God
communicated some of his mathematical discoveries to him.
Georg Cantor began his career by teaching in a Berlin girls school for a brief
period of time. He then accepted a position at the University of Halle, where he
spent his entire career. He joined as a lecturer in 1869 and was promoted to
assistant professor in 1872, and full professor in 1879. He published a series of ten
papers from 1869 to 1873 in which he dealt with the theory of numbers. A
colleague, Heinrich Eduard Heine, recognized Cantor s capability and encouraged
him to work on the theory of trigonometric series. He started with the work
performed on trigonometric series by the German mathematician Bernhard Riemann
a few years ago, and extended it to show that the function of a complex variable can
be represented in only one way by a

One of the primary difficulties lies in striking the right balance between raising awareness about the gravity of sexual assault and ensuring that the content remains respectful and empathetic. There is a fine line between shedding light on the harsh realities of these incidents and avoiding sensationalism or graphic details that might cause further distress to survivors. Moreover, navigating through the vast amount of research and statistics related to sexual assault can be overwhelming. • 2. Existentialism In Mrs. Dalloway s Waiting For Godot As a result of both World Wars, many who had been disillusioned by romanticized ideas of war were shocked by the abrupt pain and loss they experienced. Due to the excruciating catastrophe of War, people lost faith in religion and humanity and ultimately felt as though life lacked a meaningful purpose. This pessimistic view of life brought upon the emergence of existentialismas a prominent philosophical belief in society. Many Existentialists believed that our lives are ultimately meaningless and that our existence is comprised entirely of our actions; we must acknowledge that our lives occur while we are waiting for our inevitable deaths. Mrs. Dalloway and Waiting for Godotboth exemplify through their characters that human life and experiences are comprised of the small moments in which we are collectively waiting for something. This idea of waiting for something is essential to the human experience because many existentialists of the eras, in which these stories were written, ultimately believe that a reality in which evils can occur, such as a World War, could not possibly have a caring God and that our existence must be made up solely of the actions that are performed in the time spent waiting, Becket would argue naively, for something to occur. Mrs. Dalloway takes place in an England which was recovering from the ravishes of the first World War. Following the war, many people began to lose faith in organized religion because they could not fathom how an all loving and
  • 3. Peta And Ethics The subject of my documentary film will be based on an American interest group called PETA. PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals , it is an organization that stands against animal testing and abuse. Founded March 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, PETA s motto remains to be animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. This interest group s strong opposing stance on anything related to the animal usage norm or cruelty in our country, gives members of society a simple reason to support them: since PETA stands against the mistreatment of animals they must be good. I have chosen to document this particular subject matter because of the interesting ways PETA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course an average person would be against animal cruelty, but would this individual subscribe to PETA? With so much controversy around this do good organization, it actually has created a 50/50 audience for PETA. In order to tell PETA to stop acts that seem hypocritical or honestly a bit extreme, citizens of society should begin mailing their thoughts to its headquarters in Norfolk, VA. In the end, it seems the whole of PETA will not be stopped anytime soon because of the good intentions this company actually has. The only complications that need to be eliminated from this group are the constant controversy pulls, hypocritical acts, and ads that are created to intentionally rub the wrong way with most of society or even their own supporters. Writing PETA or even physically going down to their headquarters to confront them may be of help for this interest group to finally behave like a company that only wants to spread a simple message of stopping the mistreatment of
  • 4. The Duty of the Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve Act was signed into law on December 23, 1913. Due to a series of financial panics around 1907, the Federal Reserve (also referred to as the Fed ) was created by Congress to promote a stable banking system and an active economy. The Federal Reserves greatest client and biggest spender is the government of the United States. All proceeds from taxes generated and disbursements are managed through the account that the United States government has set up with the Federal Reserve. The Fed operates independently of the government; however, the Feds jurisdiction originates from Congress and the Fed is subject to congressional supervision. Furthermore The President nominates the members of the Board of Governors which must be confirmed by the Senate. The salaries of the Fed are also set and appointed by the government. Although the Fed can exercise freedom in monetary determinations, the existing relationship with the government invites corruption particularly with the present administration and its champagne socialists. Thomas Jefferson in the Debate of the Recharger of the Bank Bill in (1809) warned that banking systems would decimate America. Regardless of the original premise of good intentions, whenever any system wields this much power manipulation and avarice ensue. Many consider the economic approach of our forefathers as too primitive and unsophisticated; however, the laws and standards they established has made the United States the

  • 9. The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our... The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and Deviancy We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge. Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful in labelling it as, deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or even culture to culture. Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour. The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are named deviant but others are not. Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has negative consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on the social reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on the interaction processes leading to the labelling, these being two important elements of the theory. The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important. Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will accept the label, and for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a deviant subculture, feeling they have no other alternative. The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled criminal evolves into a complete, absolute deviant. Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual, he supports and reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in a society is essential, and is beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil. Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory, a vast majority of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in helping the offenders be rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will not agree to participate in this. Another implication is that criminal law
  • 10. Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by using membranes with small pores so
  • 11. A Truly Beautiful Soul in The Idiot, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky... The Russian novelist Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky stands at the very summit of Russian literature. No 19th century writer had greater psychological insight or philosophical depth. None speaks more immediately and passionately to the mood and tone of the present century. This essay will discuss how Dostoyevskys intent to portray a truly beautiful soulmanifests itself in the novel The Idiot, and access Dostoyevsky s success or failure in achieving his intention. Dostoyevsky confesses in his letter to Maikov dated January 12, 1868 that his desperate situation compelled him to resort to the fascinating and tempting, but nonetheless difficult and premature thought of portraying a wholly beautiful individual. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would suggest that Myshkin could not possibly embody beauty since he is ineffectual and destructive and ultimately inadvertently assists a murder of a physically beautiful woman. I will try to show in my essay though that although this is a deliberately pessimistic and truthful hypothesis, Dostoyevsky does portray a truly beautiful soul . The proposal of The Idiot is to expose the contradiction between worldly and heavenly values: a saint , like Prince Myshkin, is considered an idiot . He doesn t see what everybody sees, because he has got his eyes set not in other people s faces, but in their souls. Just like the author, he is a psychologist: and a psychologist not only with a complete understanding of every individual s minds, but also full of compassion for each one of their failures. Once again, we see the triad compassion /forgiveness/love as the main message of the book. Prince Myshkin is Dostoyevsky s positive character. He is an ideal Christian and lives by the virtue of such ideals. He is compassionate, benevolent, patient and forgiving. He arrives in Russia at the age of twenty six having spent four years in Switzerland treating his epilepsy and mental illness. He refers to himself as an idiot because of this illness. The reason for his arrival to St. Petersburg is to start a new life with the help of his distant relative Elizaveta Prokofievna Yepanchin. At their family home he is attracted to Aglaya as a new hope. He

  • 13. The Lucifer Effect By Philip Zimbardo Essay The Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo, presents a significant question regarding the essence of human nature: How is it possible for typical, ordinary or even good natured people to become capable of perpetrating evil? While striving to understand unexpected, or abnormal behaviors, we tend to put our main focus on internal determinants such as genes, character, and personality, simultaneously ignoring external, situational factors that could be the central, critical catalyst for an apparent behavioral change. Typically, this catalyst lies in the system that creates and maintains such situations that result in questionable behaviors. Zimbardo confirms that the world is filled with good and evil. With that being said, the barrier between good and evil is permeable and nebulous. This leads the reader to this central question: Am I capable of evil? In order to answer this question, one must consider all internal, as well as, external elements of the given situation. Summary: The book, The Lucifer Effect, gives a detailed chronologic transformation of human character that took place during Zimbardo s prison experiment. This experiment consisted of randomly assigning twenty four healthy, normal intelligent college students. Twelve of the twenty four individuals were assigned to role play the prisoners (nine plus three alternates), and the other twelve were chosen to role play the prison guards (also, nine plus three alternates). These students had no prior record of criminal
  • 14. Parmalat Case Study What is the role that Parmalat s management and its accounting department played in this case? Parmalat was founded in 1961 in Northern Italy. The company eventually grew into one of the largest diary and food company in Italy and eventually became a multinational conglomerate with 214 subsidiaries in 48 different countries. In 1990, the company s financial performance began to slip. Instead of resolve the problems, Parmalat executives and managements used a wide range of unethical techniques to disguise them. For instance, they used receivables from fake sales as collateral to borrow money from bank, created fake assets by inflating reported assets, and took legitimate debt from investors (Glater, 2004). Additionally, executives worked with investment bankers to move debt off balance sheetand disguised it as equity. Lastly, they conspired with third party auditors and bankers to further finance the fraud (Rimkus, 2016). As a result, Parmalat collapsed with debts of €14 billion in 2013. It is considered to be Europe s biggest corporate failure and often known as Europe s Enron (Segreti, 2010). Compare and contrast the U.S. GAAP and the IFRS; which is a better system, and why? Should the United States move to IFRS? There are many similarities and differences between the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and the International Financial Reporting Standards) IFRS. According to Investopedia.com (2017), the US GAPP is the accounting standard used

  • 16. Character Analysis of Celie, the Color Purple Essay Celie Being a black female in the south during the early 1900 s, at a time when white and blacks were socially segregated and women were absolutely inferior to men, was one of the many challenges Celie would be faced with in her lifetime. Born in 1895, Celie was raised on a farm in a small town in Georgia where formal education took a back seat to physical labor and household maintenance, and the Church was the main focal point of socialization among local town members. We are first introduced to Celie in 1909, when she is 14 years old, running and frolicking through the fields with her sister Nettie, then giving birth to her second child by her step father. • 17. The Charge Of The Light Brigade Is Not A True War Story... According to the Freytag s pyramid, a story must contain five parts: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. All throughout my life I ve held these as irrevocable characteristics of a story; more in particular, that all stories must have a resolution. However, reading Tim O Brian s How to Tell a True War Story has challenged this notion. O Brian argues that a true story a war story, in particular doesn t necessarily have a satisfying resolution or a moral. War is too complex to render in simple terms; a true war story is neither about bravery nor heroism. Thus, based on these criteria, I d argue that Lord AlfredTennyson s piece, The Charge of the Light Brigade, is not a true war story. First of all, I d like to make it clear: by stating that this piece is not a true war story I do not intend to undermine the poem or the author, nor mislabel them as chauvinistic. The Charge of the Light Brigade is, undoubtedly, an anti war poem. That becomes self evident after the first read. But if the reader applies the biographical strategies to learn more about the author s life and thus, understand his work more fully, the reader might find useful to know that Lord Tennyson never actually fought in the Crimean warhimself. In fact, he was the oxymoron of a wardog; he was the Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom whose works reflect his anti war posture. Lord Tennyson was an academic, not a fighter. He learned about the heavy losses the Light Cavalry

Power is described in many ways and portrayed by others differently based from experiences. In regards to architecture, my definition of power is described through overall structure and the vibe of the building. When returning to downtown Tucson, I went to the building which I thought portrayed this power, was The Cadence apartments. During my return trip to downtown Tucson I visited my favorite place and the one which I felt held the most power. The Cadence apartment gives anyone who enters it the feel of a five star hotel. The apartments gave the ambience of upper class with its constant cleaning crew working to keep it in prestige condition and multiple amenities only the nicest and most powerful of places would possess. When entering, you are welcomed to a long all white hallway with multiple fireplaces and flat screen televisions. The all white building gives the impression of a sleek and clean upper class building. After continuing down the hall, you are greeted by a fully equipped gym and a large pool and hot tub. Overall, with grand sweeping hallways, five star amenities, and classy atmosphere, The Cadence possesses much of the attributions that lead a building to be architecturally powerful.... These physical characteristics can be portrayed through architecture through color, such as white being sleek and expensive, and structure, having tall and big being most

Key Results Of Testing For Ppp 5 Empirical Findings 5.1 Introduction Following the methodology section, this chapter is going to present the main findings of the PPP test and relevant information, graphs and tables will be shown as well. The purpose of this part is to provide key results of testing for PPP in order to facilitate the following detailed discussions. It is no doubt that this section can be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety of econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major aspects: the one is on the examine of the APPP, namely the strong version of PPP; the other is on the test of the RPPP, also known as the weak form of PPP. 5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real exchange rate is equal to one. The formula is expressed as: For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to: where Et represents the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt means the Indian CPI. Before analysing, what should do is to transmute the raw data into the natural logarithm form. According to Jia and Rathi (2008), the major cause of transformation is that taking natural logarithms not only indicates the elasticity of economic variables, but eliminates the issue of heteroscedasticity efficiently. If an econometric model is heteroscedastic, the test of significance for variables will be meaningless and the parameter

There are several differences that make the retention of fur an adaptive trait in seals and walruses. These advantages can be divided into three categories; life aspects, evolutionary descent, diving differences. The first among these are their life aspects. Seals and walruses spend much of their time in the water foraging however; land is required for the birthing and rearing of their young. In addition to this seals are one of the few species in which the female receives no help in raising their young. (Prothero 2014) The predatory nature of carnivore that leads them to hunt their prey may also play a part in differentiating these mammals. They hunt animals that may live in the sea or on land such as the penguin and must be adapted as such to follow their prey from sea to land in order to catch it. During the evolution of these animals hair was lost in the whales but retained in the seals and walruses another reason this may have happened is because some seals and walruses eat the mussels, clams and other bivalves that live on the ocean floor. Hair in the form of whiskers or vibrissae that is present in seals and walruses serves a mechanoreception role. They assist in finding food such as mussels and clams on the ocean floor. These vibrissae have a sensitive innervated sinus area that allows the vibrissae to be used as a sensory organ rather than for thermoregulation as the rest of the body fur is used. It may be that the body fur remains because of these vibrissae. If the seals and walruses were to begin losing the fur on their body as insulation and to spend more time in the sea than they could also risk losing the vibrissae that assists them in finding food below the ocean surface since it too is a type of hair. Griefand loss is very normal process, and something most people will be forced to cope with at some point in their lives. After all, their life could now be in complete disarray. The path of least resistance is anger as opposed to facing the consequences of a loss head on. In the case of death, the anger is often focused toward the deceased for leaving that person behind and unable to cope. Other times people become angry at themselves if they feel they could have done something more to stop the loss from happening. Bargaining The third stage of grief is Bargaining. This is when those who are grieving are reaching out to the universe to make the pain go away. It is actually very normal, and largely considered to be a sign that they are beginning to comprehend their situation. Children are needing to develop their abilities through their play experiences, and also through their play experiences, they can develop appropriately. Early childhood education plays a large part in a child s early development. Children develop cognition through two main stages that Jean Piaget theorized. The stages run from birth and infancy to school age children. Sensorimotor is the first stage and goes from birth to about the age of two. This stage implies that the children learn about the environment they live in and they learn this through the reflexes and movements they produce. They also learn that they are separate people from their parents and they can say goodbye to them and know they will come back. The second stage is called the preoperational stage. During this stage of development, children will learn how to incorporate symbols to represent objects. This is also the beginning of learning the alphabet and speech. The child is still very much egocentric at this point in time, but with the help of understanding educators, the child will grow appropriately onto the next stages of development. Finally, the children need to develop emotionally/socially.

Burwell (2015) is a Supreme Court case involving two parties, the petitioner David King and the respondent Sylvia Mathews Burwell the Secretary of Health and Human Services. In a brief background of the case according to Oyez, Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010 to increase the number of Americans covered by health insurance and lower health care costs. ACA requires each state to establish an exchange in which people can purchase health care; and if a state chooses not to do so, the federal government establishes one through the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Introduction: Efficient Memory management is performed by modern operating system and still working for efficient memory allocation for application because the main stuff is to provide required memory block for application with minimum memory loss as compared to the traditional memory allocation which is known as Memory Fragmentation which keep the records of those block that are free and those that are allocated to tasks. For the purpose memory allocation designs are being used for example: Static Memory Allocation, Dynamic Memory Allocationdescribe in Fig: 1 Fig:1 {Memory Allocation} Real Time System support both techniques and both of them distributes memory in different way in Static Memory Allocation, memory is allocated at compile time it has efficient

At quite a young age, Beethoven began exhibiting impressive musical talents. Following, Beethoven s father became his initial musical instructor, however his methods of teaching were certainly questionable. Johann was brute, it was accounted for by neighbors that they witnessed a small child weeping playing the clavier while standing atop a footstool to reach the keys. His father shadowed him and punished him for every mistake; he also overworked and deprived him of sleep. With his father, Beethoven studied the clavier as well as the violin. He also received additional lessons from organists in the city he resided in, adding to his workload. Hoping for his son to be recognized as a musical prodigy, Beethoven s first recital was held on March 26, 1778 when he was seven years old. Unfortunately, the performance was not a success, not in the way his father had hoped, Beethoven s talents where indeed portrayed, however it did not receive the type of recognition that Johann had hoped for as there was no press or publicity. Meanwhile, average was a fitting word to describe Beethoven s studies, music came more naturally to him than anything else. Therefore, he withdrew from school at the age of ten and committed his life to music. Following, he began to study music with the newly appointed court organist who went by the name of Christian

  • 40. Compare and Contrast Captivity Narratives Essay Contrasting and Comparing Captivity Narratives The captivity narrative genre includes writings by or about people captured by an enemy, usually one who is considered by the hostage to be a foreign and uncivilized heathen, and was especially popular in America and England in the seventeenth through late nineteenth centuries. Documents from the time show that between 1675 and 1763, at least 1,641 New Englanders were held in captivity as hostages, though many believe that the numbers are drastically low because of poor record keeping (Vaughan, 53). Regardless of the exact number of hostages, the fact is that thousands of people were profoundly affected by being held captive by the Indians. Some of those people, including Mary Rowlandson,... She declined saying that she would wait for God s time, that [she] might go home quietly, and without fear (Rowlandson 94). At one point, during Cabeza de Vaca s escape from one tribe of Indians, other Indians asked for him to heal their sick. These Indians, like those who allowed Rowlandson a Bible to read, did not prevent their captives from keeping their own religion (Cabeza de Vaca 19). Mary Jemison had a markedly different captivity experience. In the late 1750s, when Jemison was just fifteen years old, her family was captured by the Seneca Indians. Soon after they were captured, Jemison saw her family murdered and scalped. Like Rowlandson and Cabeza de Vaca, she was initially in fear for her life. She expected at any moment that she too would be scalped by her captors. At the same time, like Rowlandson, she was just as frightened by the idea of escape. She lamented that should she sneak away that she would be alone and defenseless in the forest, surrounded by wild beasts that were ready to devour her (Seaver). Jemison was given to two squaws as a replacement for a brother who was lost in war. After a ritual of mourning, the female Indians dressed Jemison in native clothing, renamed her Deh he wГ¤ mis which meant pretty girl and accepted her as one of their own. She learned their way of life

Family trips are always an interesting experience and sometimes hard to understand. Between the arguing and stress of packing, my family finds a way to get on the road quite often. However, the next tripplanned arose a new level of anxiety. Until this trip, I have never traveled to a place far from society and slept within the pure darkness of the night. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spring break came faster than I imagined, and we were soon on the road to nowhere. The trip became more nerve racking as we made our last stop with civilization at the park ranger s office. The ranger was very hopeful that we would not run into too many issues within our trip, however, I was not. He made it clear that we must take all bear precautions, even though he attempted to convince us there were no bears in the area. He also made it clear we must find high ground for camp due to weather concerns. Listening to his safety speech made me regret committing to this adventure. After gathering our packs and a map from the office, we approached the first trail. My shoes were tied, my pack was on securely, and I realized what we were actually about to do. The first couple of miles seemed easy because the trail was wide and the elevation was only increasing slowly. By the fourth mile, the trip began to change. My ten year old brother and his friend became tired and the elevation was dramatically increasing. The small wide hills became steep, narrow rocks. Scott took the lead to find safe footwork. This is when I regretted the forty pound backpack. Using Scott s hand and a tree limb I pulled myself up an almost four foot tall rock and then another. I turned around to look back at the rest of the group and realized I was only a couple inches away from falling off an eighteen foot drop.

  • 49. The Role Of Power And Power In Jane Eyre Throughout the Victorian Age, male dominance deprived women from freedom of choice. In Charlotte BrontГ« s novel, Jane Eyre, Jane Eyre repeatedly struggles to become an independent young lady due to the troublesome men in the story. There are several male characters who control, humiliate, and abuse their power over Jane. The author manages to depict patriarchal dominance through the characterization of John Reed, Mr. Brocklehurst, and Mr. Rochester. In the novel s exposition, Jane Eyre, a ten year old child, begins to face gender injustice by his cousin, John Reed. In In the Window Seat: Vision and Power in Jane Eyre, Peter J. Bellis states, John Reed claims the house and its contents as his . . . (641). He exerts authority on her simply because he is a male by abusing and bossing her, making it seem as if he owns her. The situation starts holding Jane back as a female, leaving her defenseless, as the powerless victim of its oppressive force (Bellis 641). John greatly contributed to Jane s suffering as a child, by abusing the power he had over her. She speaks of how John harshly demanded of her, saying, I want you to come here; and, seating himself in an armchair, he intimated by a gesture that I was to approach and stand before him, referring to him as master (4). The simple act of her needing to call him master demonstrates the dominance he possesses. He deprived her of freedom such as simply reading a book by controlling her life at a young age, and it
