Essay On New Right
Conservatives united and became an energetic political force during the sixties. Attacking the alleged
blurred view of right and wrong within the Vital Center the New Right attempted to clearly articulate
the importance of recognising the existence of a clear political right and wrong. Founded by William F
Buckley, the National Review magazine became a leading voice in promoting New Conservative
values and ideas. Generally the New Right advocated a growing concern about the expansion of
federal power while favoring an aggressive foreign policy, dramatic increases in military spending,
and and the end to most social welfare programs. Comprised of a developed base of support from
Suburban communities, especially in the south and west, of middle class whites. Combined with a
concern about the decline of morality and the growth of federal power many suburban residents
developed a hatred of Washington. Other common shared beliefs ... Show more content on

Although the new left never provided a clear alternative vision for America, they shared a common
sense of anger with the existing system. The Port Huron Statement purposed self cultivation, self
direction, self understanding, and creativity as a general way of addressing the nation s problems.
Believing that the crisis of modern life was primarily moral, students for a Democratic Society SDS
proclaimed must give form to the feelings of helplessness and indifference, so that people may see the
political, social, and economic source of their personal troubles and organize to change society.
Generally this call for political awareness was to be combined with action on all fronts where injustice
was found. Further, the new left rejected their parents definition of reality and searched for ways to
express their individuality and find self fulfillment in an age of mass

Mackenzie Mckee Of Teen Mom Three Argumentative Analysis
Mackenzie McKee of Teen Mom 3 is now under fire after posting a picture of her son, who is only 4
years old, holding up a gun while he was out hunting. Of course some people think it is fine to take a
young boy hunting, but most of MacKenzie s fans are not okay with it from reading their comments.
OK! Magazine shared all about what Mackenzie McKee s followers had to say about this new photo.
Obviously when MacKenzie posted the photo of her son Gannon with a deer after it was shot while
out hunting she didn t learn a lesson about posting this stuff with her fans.
The latest photo shows her son Gannon holding what appears to be a real gun. MacKenzie shared the
caption Don t worry momma, I ll put supper on the table. After that McKee used the hashtag showing
that she thinks she is raising him right by teaching him to hunt.
Mackenzie McKee s followers are going off now and are not happy. Many of them don t feel like a
boy should be holding a gun at such a young age. They feel like he is not old enough to understand
what it means to take a life and is basically just doing what he has been taught is okay. One comment
even makes it sound like McKee has lost a fan or two over this one.

Magazine shared in October that this is not the only photos of Mackenzie McKee that are causing

into the gym after they were born and started working out again. Her body does look amazing, but
McKee is showing off her belly, arms and every bit of her body on social networks. Her other half
Josh works out with her and the two are always showing it off. It might be a bit much for a mom to
show, but Mackenzie McKee doesn t seem to see a problem with

History Of Cotton Cultivation And Production
The history of cotton cultivation and production to cottons part in society now. Tyler Riviere
4 April, 2016
The evolutionary history of cotton played an important role in the heritage of the British Empire, the
United States(U.S.), and India. Cotton continues to be an important crop and commodity throughout
society. The history of Cotton is one of the most important factors to our society currently. Cotton
cultivation dates back over 7,000 years, seeds of cotton are found all over the world. Cotton is hugely
important throughout the world, making cotton useful to make a number of textile products. Since
cotton is used and produced on such a widespread industry, cotton s largest producers are China and
India. However; the largest exporters of raw cotton are the United States and Africa. The advancement
in cotton textile industries, and the worldwide vast cultivation of the crop is the product of human
demand towards the farming, production, and export of cotton.
The global cotton industry is distinguished by its abundant industrial uses of cotton plume, which is
the fiber within the cotton used to create products, along with the high production costs that come
along with it. Extreme vegetative growth can hinder destructively with productivity of the cotton
plant. Why it makes applying growth regulators an essential for healthy develop6ment in the cotton
culture (Vitor 2015). Cotton cultivation dates back over 7,000 years ago and with high demand.

The Darkling Thrush And The Force That Through The Green...
Natural instances are prominent in Hardy s The Darkling Thrush and Thomas s The Force That
Through the Green Fuse Drives the Flower . Hardy reminisces over the past while witnessing a
changing society while Thomas reminisces over the certain destruction of his youth and vitality, even
with different concerns both authors problems are due to passing time. Both poems have a certain
contrast when explaining their theme but both are aware of the idea of death being a natural
occurrence that awaits all of us. The two author s similarities are highlighted by a look at form, tone,
words, and continuous use of nature to depict theme. In The Darkling Thrush the speaker ponders how
slow death surrounds him, and how life is diminishing with almost no reason to live in a new era full
of dullness. The speaker shows intense reflection over his thoughts and works through his ideas. When
the speaker hears a beautiful song coming from a dying bird, his dark realistic perspective of living
changes as he sees that the birds last breaths were spent singing a song. He continues to be realistic
over the topic of death and not overthink the full hearted evensong (Hardy 615), but the bird gives him
a chance to think about something more hopeful in this bleak world. The bird, a thrush which is found
in nature symbolizes the natural side of death. Even if it was passing, the bird reflected his soul in
song creating the idea of a death just being a lulling moment in a gloom lonely world;

Canada Energy Generation
The purpose is to compare the methods of Electrical Generation in Canada and France. The outcome
on my research is to provide information on the most and least sources of electricity generations in
both of these countries. The energy sources that I am comparing are Liquids and Petroleum, Natural
Gas, Coal, Nuclear, Hydroelectric, Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Tidal/Wave Power and Biofuels.
1. The predominant forms of Electricity Generation in Canada are Hydro Electric and Coal.
2. They are used the most because Hydro Electric energy comes from the Great Lakes, and the large
amount of waterfalls in Canada like Niagara Falls. Coal is used because of the great supply of coal
mines in Canada. (Center for Energy)

Introduction
The supermarket wars has been increasingly frustrating for consumers as sometimes consumers tend
not to know where to get the best deals, as they all advertise the same price and brands, in the UK
companies such as Tesco and Asda advertise and sell the same products but also claim to low on prices
for the customer satisfaction, but in fact they charge more when it comes to their own brands, looking
in the telecommunication sector is clear that with the privatization of the telecommunications industry,
the mobile phone industry experiences transformations that enhance the dynamics of competition.

My First Day Of School Essay
We met during our second last year of high school. Back then, I had transferred to Richmond High
from my old school, Churchill, to study in the IB program they offered. I was quite looking forward to
it, actually. I felt that the past years of my life had been wasted on social life and boys who just
disappointed me at the end. Moving to a new school was a way to break free, to start anew and focus
on something different for a change. Studies. That s right, I was going to focus on studies. Plus, I had
quite a few close friends who were going to be there, and that made it even better. The first day of
school had been fun. I had some classes with the people I was familiar with. Even the morning classes
didn t sound so bad, since my best friends were in there. Lucy Sun and Anna Zhang were among the
reasons of why I had wanted to transfer. The three of us had known each other since a young age.
They might have been a little crazy back then, but awesome none the same. They were the friends I
would never want to let go of. They were best friends as well, though it seemed unlikely. Those two
were as different as two people can get. Lucy was slim, with a small figure and a pretty face to match.
She had short hair back then, and the locks barely reached her shoulders. She dressed the way Korea
or Asian girls would dress, delicate and feminine. She took great interest in hair styles and sometimes
complained about how her short hair didn t allow her to wear the style she wanted.

Mythology Research of Egyptian God Amun-Re Essay
Amun Re is often referred to as the most important and powerful god of Ancient Egypt. Amun Re was
the god of the sun. Amun Re is the main name of the sun god, but also has three different names in
which describe the phases of life that Amun Re goes through each day. (Budge, Pg. 92) When
examining the ancient Egyptian god Amun Re, four main points must be understood, including: the
origin of Amun Re, the characteristics of Amun Re, how Amun Re was worshiped, and how Amun Re
impacted Egyptian life. First, is the discussion of the origin of Amun Re. Re, is an ancient Egyptian
solar deity (also spelled Ra ). Re s association with the sun meant that he was understood to be an
important force in the creation of the world, and Re s daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The last role of Amun Re was Re as the creator. Egyptians believed that Re would weep and when he
did so his tears would then turn to men. Re is also seen to be the creator of the seasons, months, plants,
and animals. This falls back to the fact that Re is the sun, and the sun signifies life and growth,
allowing all things to grow through life. Second, I will be discussing the characteristics of Amun Re.
Re is depicted as a man with a hawk head and a headdress with a large sun disk. The sun disk on his
headdress is to reference his continuous power and control of the sun. The Egyptians were not
senseless; they did not think that a man or chariot raced across the sky dragging the sun to its resting
point.
Egyptians needed a way to understand the phenomenon of the sun due to their lack of scientific
knowledge. They tended to use animals to describe certain characteristics of a god. This was
especially the case with the ones they cannot see. Thebes celebrated a different major god Amun, the
Hidden One with powers so great he could not be visualized, yet because he had to be represented in
some way in order to pay him homage, he was depicted as a man with a tall ostrich plume crown.
(Brier, Pg. 36). Third, I will be discussing how Amun Re was worshiped in ancient Egypt. Amun Re is
seen in five ways, first, as a man, this is when he is seen on the throne as a king, holding a scepter in
one hand and the symbol of life in the other. In

Most nonprofit agencies follow the same management structure. The structure normally consists of a
vertical hierarchal structure with the chief executive manager at the helm, and divisional leaders
rounding out the strategic leadership team. Since 9/11, then government shutdowns, multiple wars,
natural disasters, and the government sequester, the challenge to most nonprofits is to compete for
every available charitable dollar. Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of nonprofits must not only be
skillful in maximizing the outcomes with fewer dollars, but also politically savvy in vying for monies

One identified contributor to women s slower than expected assent into leadership is the persistence of
assumptions and stereotypes that women are intrinsically communal or dependent and passive , and
therefore, lack the capacity to succeed as leaders. (National Academy of Sciences National Academy
of Engineering Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, 2006 as cited by Isaac, Kaatz Carnes,
2012). The main problem is the challenges to recruitment and retention of women in general, and the
particular subset of African American women in particular. Quantitative analysis will be used to
ascertain and organize data to offer empirical evidence that supports the claims of low representation
of African American women in Philadelphia leadership roles; however, this qualitative study will
delve into the causality of this phenomenon, and this qualitative study may offer new insights into the
involvement, and articulation of business strategies surrounding recruitment and retention of, African
American women in levels of leadership within the Commonwealth. And while this topic may cause
discomfort to both the researcher and the interviewees, discomfort is an important, even desirable
component of qualitative research. Being uncomfortable makes us more aware and alert, stretches our

Analysis Of Quicksand By Nella Larsen
People s identity is shaped by their family, culture, and surrounding environment; each aspect of one s
identity has a varying degree of influence and can place a burden on each person. African American
writer Nella Larsen s autobiographical novel, Quicksand, explores the contemporary construction of
African American female identity by examining the intricate relationship between race, class, gender
and sexuality and how these representations are stereotyped in Harlem Renaissance literature. She
indisputably engages with the overarching themes of the Harlem Renaissance and touches on an even
larger issue, the problematic tension between black and white culture. Larsen deconstructs
preconceived notions of race and looks deeper into how such

Despite the clear advantages of bureaucracy, one would wonder if they are really efficient. Nearly all
governmental organizations adopt this form of organization to some extent and weber claimed they
were capable of achieving the highest efficiency. Below are draw backs of bureaucracy concepts: (a)
Impersonality can ensure a common level of treatment but may also lead to stereotyping behavior and
lack of responsiveness to individual incidents. Relationships are inhibited, meaning that social and ego
needs are unsatisfied. (b) Human beings and individual circumstances vary pretty much infinitely and

The illumination and interviewing studies, on the other hand, involved whole departments of workers.
From these experiments, the final core conclusions that the researchers reached were that the
experimental variables such as incentive payment had little effect, while that the unmeasured quality
of human relations of workers to management and peer group was responsible for most output
improvement (Gale, 2004).
3.1 ADVANTAGES OF THE HAWTHORNE EXPERIMENTS
In the past, managers considered workers as machinery that could be bought and sold easily. To
increase production, workers were subjected to long hours, miserable wages and undesirable working
conditions. The welfare of workers and their need were disregarded. The Hawthorne studies helped in
shaping transformations in many areas of human relations and brought about radical changes in
organizational behavior.
The traditional popular belief that increasing output of an organization was directly related to
increasing workers wages was disproved. Experiments conducted by Mayo proved that there were
more than economic factors that improved efficiency. Consequently, human relations were a key
component to improve organizational output as evidenced from tests conducted.
The Hawthorne experiments evolved the rest pauses as cardinal for well being and effectiveness of
workers and efficient

Causes Of Jim Crow Laws
During the time period of 1877 1954 a set of laws called the Jim Crow laws were put in motion. They
were laws that made segregation in schools and public places legal. No white person or African
American could be doing anything together at anytime. These laws were against all of the African
Americans living in the southern states of the United States. I believe the main cause of this conflict
was to segregate the African Americans away from whites, just as if they were still slaves. White
people thought that they weren t the same as them just because of their race, color of their skin, or
culture and therefore shouldn t be treated the same. On April 12th, 1861, the Civil War started. The
main purpose of this war was to either end slavery or to keep it, depending on what side you were on
(according to ferris.edu). People in the South wanted slavery to keep going, but the people in the
North wanted to end it. After 620,000 casualties and four years of severe and cruel fighting the war
ended. There was no more slavery, the North had won. If the South had won the war there would
probably still be slavery, so they wouldn t have to make the Jim Crow Laws. This was the most
important factor for the laws. With them losing the war, now the people of the South had political,
economical and cultural reasons for these laws. Due to the fact that the South lost the war, there slaves
were now free and now had political freedom. Now the African Americans could run for political

Assess The Main Features Of Communism
Communism is defined as a social, political, and economic ideology with a goal to establish a
communist society. There is an absence of social status, class, and money. In essence everyone is one
and the same. The government controls the majority if not all of the commodities, economics,
education, etc. The primary element that enables a change in the economic system is social ownership.
There are two major social classes; the first being the working class. This class works to survive and
they are the majority of the population. The capitalist class are the minority, however they profit from
employing the proletariat through private ownership. However communism aims to replace private
ownerships, and private properties. They want public ownership,

History Of Deer Park Water Company Essay
Do you ever wonder about the origin story behind the brands that we use in our everyday lives? Well
there is a story behind the founding of Deer Park Water Company. After the Civil War, the Deer Park
Hotel was built in the Appalachian Mountains located in Maryland by the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad. The hotel was created to attract those who took passage on the railroad, but the spring that
was located nearby also caught the attention of the travelers. The spring was known for the appeal of a
clean source of water, this led the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to start putting the water into bottles in
1873. It was known as the Boiling Spring because the water comes through sand on the way up. A
company, known as The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation, purchased the spring and the woods
surrounding it in 1966. The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation decided to put the spring to a use and
made a profit bottling up the water and selling it mainly throughout the New York area, until
production eventually expanded across the nation. Most of the water in the spring is located near the
Appalachian Trail. Something interesting about the Deer Park Hotel is that President Taft and his wife
had their honeymoon there. Deer Park Water Company is a sub corporation of the Nestle Waters North
America Company. Nestle Waters North America was founded in 1976 and started out importing
Perrier Sparkling Water before moving on to include regular bottled water. At the time that the

Narrative Essay On Irish Dance
Day 6: I was served a traditional Irish breakfast this morning, and aside from the puddings (which
weren t too bad), it was similar to a traditional breakfast I get at home. After breakfast, we boarded the
bus and headed for Glenveagh Castle. The castle itself was beautiful, from the elaborate interiors, to
the stunning gardens and trails, and the gorgeous scenery. The castle even has a curse attached to it,
showing how Irish culture is fond of myths and superstitions. After we left the castle, we went back to
the community center for lessons in Irish culture and dance. Although it is not the most common
spoken language in Ireland, Gaelic, is the national language of Ireland. Having their own national
language would promote nationalism within the country, giving the people something of their own that
wasn t established when Brittan took over. I was as good at learning Gaelic as I was with Spanish,
terrible, after the session all I could remember was how to ask for a pint and how to ask for food. Out
of the two sessions, I was far better at the Irish dancing. The session itself was one of the most fun
things I did in Ireland, learning the various dances and the meaning behind them. Irish dancing, like
Gaelic, is very important to the Irish people, even our language instructor know some of the Irish
dances. That was not the only place that I saw Irish dancing, it was common at pubs when bands were

Why Did American Enter Ww2
Britain had been the most powerful empire up until this point in history, but hemorrhaged much of its
wealth through the extreme cost of World War I. Initially the United States was left out of Europe s
conflict. Materials began running low for the combatants, as it requires much in the way of food and
steel among other things. The US started off contributing materially to the British, not out of
favoritism, but due to the British blockade they were unable to reach Germany with supplies. When
Germany found out negotiations were set up with the United States. It is often debated President
Truman s true intentions for entering the War but during negotiations he had many stipulations for the
peace treaties with the Germans. One being Germany was not allowed to fire upon any ship American
citizens were aboard. This was not only specific to civilian transports but also ships carrying weapons.
One can see how this may be problematic. Americans kept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Role of Women in Society
The Role of Women in Society
Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, demonstrates the original and traditional cultures of African,
predominantly the Igbo culture. In traditional Igbo culture, men are perceived as the dominant and
most powerful sex, while women are perceived as weak lesser people. Although women seem to play
an inferior role in society, there are many traditions that exemplify the value and importance of
women to males in society.
Although women are mistreated, the Igbo society assigns important roles to the women. Women are
the ones who paint the egwugwu house, the house to the most powerful and most secret cult in the

Sociological Inquiry Documents How Places Are Shaped By...
Introduction A growing line of sociological inquiry documents how places are shaped by the meanings
residents construct and attach to them. Specifically, scholars have studied the symbolic relationship
between people and places and the ways that persons invest places with meaning and value in order to
make sense of their world (Borer, 2006, p. 180). These meanings have the power to direct how and
why people move to a place, how they invest their time and money, and the ways in which they do or
do not engage in civic and political action (Firey, 1945; Bell, 1994; Milligan, 1998; Paulsen, 2004;
Alkon and Traugot, 2008; Kaufman and Kaliner, 2011). Because of this, it is central to uncover how
meanings are made, who specifically makes them, and how they direct action on the ground.
Questions about the sources and consequences of the meanings residents construct are particularly
salient in communities that experience an influx of new residents. The meanings new residents attach
to place do not always align with those of the longtime residents of a community or neighborhood.
The different race, class, and socioeconomic statuses of the new and longtime residents further
exacerbate these contestations. For instance, affluent newcomers often hold the power to shape the
future of the neighborhood, either by valuing the higher status local group and uncoupling the
community from the longtime residents and poor and minority groups (Logan and Molotch, 1987;
Anderson, 1990; Smith,

Cross Cutting Issues On The Curriculum Disaster Risk...
3.STATEMENT AND EVALUATION OF THE PUBLIC INTREST QUESTION.
Cross cutting issues in the curriculum disaster risk reduction. Cross cutting issues are issues that touch
a number of different aspects of the society, on general principles such as democracy, human rights,
good governance, children s rights, gender equality, population and family life education, poverty
alleviation, environment and development. Integrating crosscutting issues into teaching makes the
education offered meaningful and relevant to the individual and the society at large .
Accidents are prone to happens at an time and anywhere, where disaster management is introduced
early to learners so that they know how to react to therefore avoid causing more destruction; for
example in the fatal security drill that occurred Strathmore university in 2015 where security experts
faulted the fact that students were not aware of the drill and had not been prepared on how to react in
such a situation.
Preparation reduces damage and vulnerability. So the KICD empowers learners by preparing them for
anything that may happen and how to move on incase of a disaster.
The concept of disaster risk management is introduced into the curriculum through various means for
example the teachers resource handbooks that are developed by the KICD.
The UN ISDR s vast Living with Risk report suggests that disaster risk reduction is the systematic
development and application of policies, strategies and practices to minimize

Correspondence Between Vocal and Musical Emotion
Throughout history and across cultures, language and music prevail as defining characteristics of
humanity. This unique status as species specific traits has inevitably prompted a great deal of cross
domain comparisons, and much research has gone into identifying both similarities and differences
between the two systems (Patel 2008: 3). Intonation, or speech melody , has been hailed as the point at
which language and music meet (Bolinger 1972: 261). A frequently discussed yet under researched
aspect of this affiliation is the expression and communication of emotion. Though the possibility of
correspondence between vocal and musical emotion has concerned philosophers for centuries, due to
the interdisciplinary nature of the topic it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sincerity of an emotional expression is appraised in terms of this conflict the closer a signal comes
to being determined by push effects, the more genuine it is taken to be (for example, a scream of pain
is interpreted as more true than a stereotyped vocal emblem such as ouch ) (Johnstone and Scherer
2000: 222). The influence of pull factors is somewhat restricted; in order for an emotional expression
to remain both credible and comprehensible, the signal cannot deviate far from the underlying push
effects (Johnstone and Scherer 2000: 222). Though the term emotion is typically avoided when
considering animal communication, there is some evidence for similarities between animal affect
vocalizations and physiologically influenced human expressions (Scherer 1995: 236; Juslin and
Laukka 2003: 773).
2.1.1 Basic emotions
There are, in theory, an infinite number of shades of possible human emotions. A crucial point of
difference between theories concerns how these emotions relate to one another (Sloboda and Juslin
2001: 76). The majority of research to date follows the concept of basic emotions; the notion that there
is a small number of discreet, innate, and universal emotion categories from which all other emotions
may be derived (Juslin and Laukka 2003: 771). Though there are slight labeling discrepancies between
theorists, the basic emotions are typically taken as

The First Sermon Essay
Buddhist art, like most kinds of art, cannot be reduced to a specific set of visual characteristics.
However, within a certain time period and region, there are recurring details in many Buddhist works
of art. The First Sermon (2ndc 3rdc: Gandhara), which depicts Buddha delivering his first sermon, is
no exception to this fact. The design and visual characteristics of The First Sermon serve as clear
evidence that the work was created during the rule of the Kushan empire, specifically in Gandhara.
Additionally, those same characteristics suggest that the piece was most likely used for adornment of a
temple or other structure rather than for individual worship. The First Sermon shares many of the
same details seen in other Kushan era artworks that came out of Gandhara. The most notable aspect
that stands out is the work s heavy Greek influence. When speaking of Buddhist ... Show more content

The piece is originally part of a panel, which would likely include other scenes as part of a larger
story. Even inside the particular scene, the Buddha is not alone but instead is surrounded by other
figures, which further suggests that it was not meant for worship. As Behrendt and Brancaccio state in
their text, when the purpose is worship, the Buddha is usually presented as independent (Behrendt and
Brancaccio 19). Finally, the small size of the piece indicates that it was not intended for any sort of
adoration. With merely 32cm x 27cm in size, the work does not compare to larger and more detailed
works that could adequately be used for worship. In conclusion, The First Sermon helps as further
evidence and guidance towards fully understanding the history of Buddhist art. Although it does not
display any particularly unique features, the piece of art serves to strengthen concepts of South Asian
art as well as its uses in everyday

Using The Personal Task Management Software On Computers...
1. Background Rationale
In contemporary society, many people are overwhelmed by the number of tasks that need to be
accomplished [1], this tasks are of different types, ranging from daily based such as meetings at work,
and non daily based buying groceries after work. To help ourselves to remember these tasks, basic
practices are to take notes on the paper based day planners or post it and to use the personal task
management software on computers and/or smartphones. As smartphones are used as an alternatives
to personal computers, taking notes on smartphones is getting more and more popular [1].
Similar to programs on a personal computer, applications can downloaded and installed on a
smartphone. Similar to a personal computer there exists a wide selection of proprietary and open
source mobile operating system platforms, out of these smartphone operating systems, the most
prominent ones being Apples iOS, Googles Android, Symbian from Symbian foundation, RIM
blackberry OS and Windows mobile from Microsoft [2].
This project focuses on developing a mobile application, Locale Reminder for Google s Android
operating system. Majority of smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola and HTC have
adopted Android as operating system for their products. As indicated by App Brain statistics, there are
more than 1.4 million applications accessible as of November 2014, of which more than 1.2 million
are free and more than 0.2 million are paid. On July 24, 2013 Google declared

Compare And Contrast Quakers And Puritans
When colonists from Northern Europe obtained land in North America, they did not only create vast
settlements that traded goods between Europe and the Americas but also organized independent
churches that catered to their population. For instance, when the Puritans settled the Massachusetts
Bay in 1630, they developed their own government and rules compared to the Quakers who settled
Pennsylvania in 1681. Both these colonies had many aspects in common but due to the fact that both
settlements had different beliefs, ideals, and contrasting opinions on society, they naturally separated
and created too completely different colonies. For example, John Winthrop was the minister and
leader of the Puritan colony and was a strong believer in conformity ... Show more content on

This is shown greatly in John Winthrop s city upon a hill speech because during this he states that the
Puritans are above every other country and colony by saying, For we must consider that we shall be as
a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in
this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be
made a story and a by word through the world (Winthrop, 1630). In other words, what Winthrop is
saying is that if the Puritans as a colony failed it would not only be an embarrassment but also because
they believed that God was upholding their colony they were being watched by every other country
and colony. This clearly shows that the Puritans wished to not only isolate themselves from the rest of
the world but also it shows that the Puritans thought of themselves as a higher caliber than others. This
is very contrasting to the Quakers for several reasons. This is because the Quakers were accepting of
all into their community unlike the Puritans and wished to not isolate themselves from other countries
and colonies but wanted to connect with them. For example, in William Penn s letter to the Native
Americans he states that it would

The Neuroscience in Human Functions
In neuroscience there are many components that play important roles in the many human functions.
They are part of the reasons why human are complex and can perform complex actions. Categories
that show the importance of neuroscience is divisions and subdivisions of the human nervous system,
neurotransmitters receptors, neuromuscular, vision, audition, somatosensory, olfaction, gustatory,
emotion, learning and memory, and communication.
The divisions and subdivisions of the human nervous system consist of the central nervous system
(CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). CNS consists of the brain and the spinal cord. In the
brain anatomy it consists of the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe occipital lobe, cerebellum,
and medulla oblongata. They all play in major components of the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain.
The forebrain consists of the telencephalon and diencephalon. In the telencephalon consists of the
cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and limbic system. The diencephalon consists of the thalamus and
hypothalamus. The next component of the brain is the midbrain also known as the mesencephalon.
The mesencephalon is composed of the tectum and tegmentum. The last part of the brain is the
hindbrain, which consists of the metencephalon and myelencephalon. The metencephalon consists of
the cerebellum and the pons. The myelencephalon, consists of the medulla oblongata. The next part of
the CNS is the spinal cord. It is the CNS tissue that extends caudally

J. L. Austin s Arguments On Gender And Transformative...
J. L Austin claims that all the statements we make are performative. He thinks that language is not
simply there to describe things we see or we want to say, but the language is itself a performative
utterance. For instance, when we say I apologize , we perform an act or when we get married and say I
do , we perform an act. This means that some words in language do not exist outside of the language
world. So, when we actually say those words that have no meaning outside of the language world, we
already do (perform) something and for that, we do not specifically need gestures or movement.
Therefore, what Butler claims and Austin claims are combined, it is possible to say that gender is itself
a performative act when a woman says I am a

The Effects Of The Holocaust
Between the years 1939 and 1945, the Allies and the Axis Powers were fighting World War II. The
Nazis were steadily rising into power and began the slow first acts of what would later be known as
the Holocaust. Holocaust is a Geek term meaning execution, or sacrifice, of an entire group involving
fire. The Jewish population of Europe went through years of horrific events and many lost their hope,
family, and their inner selves. Their stories and legacies have lived on and will continue to leave a
lasting impact on our world for many years to come. During the Holocaust, the Nazi Regime took the
Jewish community through a very traumatic period of suffering, discrimination, and oppression. Long
before the Holocaust, Jews were already not accepted into the society very well. The Nazis were not
the first official group who did not agree with them; in fact many believed in Anti Semitism.
Christians were often rude to Jews because they remained faithful to their own traditions and refused
to convert to Christianity. Martin Luther, who believed Jews were venomous, began multiple attacks
harassing Jewish people because they would not accept his new beliefs. However, the Enlightment
emphasized the importance of religious tolerance, and Napoleon took away restrictions from Jews
during the French Revolution. A man named Adolf Hitler had a very strong hatred for all Jewish
people. He believed they were responsible for society s troubles as well as ruining Germany s

There is a lack of collective focus regarding the recommendation of estrogen hormone therapy (ET)

the United States, breast cancer is the second leading cause of female death behind cardiovascular
disease and its etiology is recently becoming more fully defined (Eccles, 2013). Breast cancer is

It is necessary to offer full disclosure to all clients if they continue combined hormone therapy,
especially when related to increased risk of breast cancer. Further clarification is essential regarding
the use of menopausal hormone therapy when teaching our clients. Primarily due to the fact that there
are misperceptions about the risks and benefits of hormonal therapy, APRNs carry the role of teaching
not only their own clients, but of teaching other nurses, new nurses, physicians and the public in
general. APRNs must weigh the risks alongside of the benefits when prescribing ET or EPT to any of
their clients having severe symptomology in order to promote short term medication for symptom
relief, but also, long term relief from the potential threat of breast cancer (NAMS, 2012). The focal
point of the standard of care is to manage menopausal symptoms, educate on possible potential risks
in the future, and advocate for patients based on the latest evidence based practice. The APRN wants
to continuously implement prevention by promoting mammograms, clinical breast exams, and breast
self awareness. Yearly breast checks by a primary care provider, promotion of appropriate vitamin and
mineral supplementation intake, low fat diet, and regular weight bearing exercise, are needed when the
client is prescribed hormone therapy (Beckmann, 2014). Cultural variables and individual health
considerations must be factored when promoting self care of

As the population increases everywhere around the world and people are getting accustomed to home

demand, and gave rise to mergers and acquisitions, broader product line and increased capital
investment. Manufacturers, who can supply high quality product with wide range of interdependent
equipment pieces, have an advantage over competitors. Industry analysis shows that in 1999, the total
value of shipped food product machinery was $2.968 billion a 3% increase from 1998. Strong
economy, increased income, new construction and remodeling of food provider level led to a forecast

Comparing The Five Faithful Sayings Of The Pastoral Epistles
The Five Faithful Sayings of the Pastoral Epistles for the Growing Christian
The Christian today, gets saved and then continues in his life without spiritual growth or nurturing.
Clergy assume that believers are familiar with the contents of those Bibles sitting on their
bookshelves. They assume church members understand the teachings of other major religions and can
hold thoughtful, respectful conversations about the differences between these faiths, states Patheos in
reference to a Gallop poll. No real discipleship is present in the local church. However, five key points
arise in the Pastoral Epistles. Paul wrote the five true and faithful sayings to Timothy and Titus as they
pastored to churches; but the sayings have practical application for the growing Christian in the
church, today.

Taking Circe advice Odysseus was able to get pass Scylla and Charybdis, but the fatality was that he
lost six of his men because Scylla ate them alive. The revelation or the abyss of the hero s journey can
be described in the Odyssey as Odysseus going to the underworld known as Hades. Odysseus went
there because Circe instructed him to do so. It was there Tiresias, which is a blind prophet tells
Odysseus that he will return home. He also tells him he will reunite with his wife and take command
of his kingdom from suitors. He then instructs Odysseus that he need to take a trip to a faraway land to
appease the god Poseidon. After revealing this prophecy he warns Odysseus not to touch the flocks of
the sun when he arrives in Thrinacia. If he does he will encounter much more hardship and suffering
and he will also lose more members of his crew Atonement which is a major part of the hero s journey
can best be described when Odysseus kills the suitors and the unfaithful servants. He then takes back
control of his palace. Atonement can also be viewed as Odysseus acknowledging those who have been
his faithful friends throughout his absence. This can be seen as him becoming master of both worlds.
The last part of the hero s journey is the return. In the Odyssey the return is when Odysseus gets to
reveal who he really is to his wife and father. Penelope did not want to believe the man before her was

The Structure and Agency Debate
Introduction The structure and agency debate is a common one in the field of sociology and different
theorists come up with different ways of accounting for the actions of social actors. This essay takes
the position that structuration solves the problem of this much contested debate. Initially key concepts
and elements of structuration will be pointed out .These elements include structure, agency, social
systems and power amongst many others. Subsequently, there will be engagement of a discussion of
different schools of thought and finally it will be demonstrated how structuration prevails over the
structure agency debate. Socialization Socialization is an ongoing process in which individuals obtains
a personal identity, learns norms, values and behaviour appropriate to his/her position. People
constantly require approval of the things they do, they continually seek to be socially competent and to
be accepted by those around them. It is human nature to want to be similar from others in order to be
accepted in a certain social spheres but at the same time wanting to be different and unique. There are
primary and secondary agents of socialization. The primary agents are those that are basic and

Analysis Of The Five Situations Where The Trespass Should...
This essay is going to look at the five situations where the trespass should be applied. The first one is
whether Dobby is liable for trespassing to Draco s factory site by using it for hand car cleaning
services even knowing that Draco is aware that it is being used. However there is no consent to do so.
The second issue is whether Harry is trespassing the airspace of Draco s property by flying a huge
helium balloon several hundred feet above the park and by drifts in the wind it time to time passes
over Draco s land. The third issue is if Draco is liable for trespass to person when he throws Dobby
into street. The fourth one arises when Harry tells Draco to Piss off and the final the fifth issue is if
Harry trespassed to person by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example entering as a trespasser with the intention of stealing.
To begin with, trespass itself is not a crime at common law. There is the definition of trespass to land
is it found in the case Martinelli v Nelson Street Holdings Ltd. and it says Intentionally or negligently
entering or remaining on, or directly causing any physical matter to come into contact with land in the
possession of one more . The trespass to land has to be intentional (requires a direct intentional act) .
The first issue that is going to be analysed is whether Dobby is liable for trespass to land by using the
derelict state of factory owned by Draco. The owner knows it is being used by Dobby, an unemployed
person hoping to put food on his family s table by providing hand car cleaning services. However
there is no consent from Draco to Dobby to do so. As looking in the facts that are in the case, it is
necessary to identify if case satisfy all key elements for trespass. It is clear that Dobby did not intend
to cause any damage to the land owned by Draco he was using land for hand car cleaning services for
earning money to buy food for his family. But he intentionally stayed on the property which belongs
to another person and this is how he satisfied the element which gives the definition for trespass to
land intention. The rule of intention to be needed in trespass to land is found in the book Clerk
Lindsell on Torts [It] consists of any

Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude
JOURNAL OF JUDE
BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP
Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in Jesus Christ. We
need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that He was
the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he called himself
a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the
unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in
Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the family blood.
2. DATE OF WRITING
The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude
borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere
between the years 60 to 80 A.D.
3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false doctrines
sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful lives and
misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching
doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the
Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. In his epistle, he perfectly describes the
character, deception, lies, and modus operandi of these men and contrast it with the character of a true

Casual Substance Abuse
Casual Analysis of Drug Abuse The major cause of drug abuse is the parental influence on the
children. In many cases, drug abuse runs in the family, and as the children interact with their parents,
they tend to imitate what their parents are doing. For instance, a school youth whose parent is taking
alcohol may start drinking just because it is a common behavior in their family. Besides, this may not
be directly related to genetics since some follow what their parents are doing. Another thing is that
children from low income families tend to get involved in destructive behaviors like drug abuse. This
is because they receive less attention and teachings from their parents and caregivers at the younger
age. When the children are not given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doctors can be forced to give out the drugs that have some components of opiate. As they keep taking
these drugs, they become addicted and starts yearning for more of the drugs like Heroin. When a
patient receives these drugs for long, they can turn to be the potential users. Prescription drugs are also
readily available hence can be easily acquired. Marijuana can also be prescribed for medical purposes,
and when one keeps using it for long, they get addicted. The doctors should provide alternative drugs
to the patients rather than giving the ones that can lead to drug use. The use of marijuana for medical
purposes should be minimized since long term use can also lead to

Essay on Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
The narrator in the film Fight Club is questioned about his devastated condo and declares, That condo
was my life, okay? I loved every stick of furniture in that place. That was not just a bunch of stuff that
got destroyed, that was me! This attitude of defining self identity through a consumer culture has
become institutionalized in the American society. The film Fight Club addresses the excessive
consumerism as a sign of emotional emptiness and as a form of self distinction. While the title
suggests that it is just another cliché action movie, it is not so shallow or narrowly focused. It instead
provides the viewer with a provocative view on American society and it raises valid questions about ...

Together, they end up creating the underground fight club that becomes wildly popular with blue
collar workers. Shirt less men beat each other into bloody messes every Saturday night in the
basement of a bar. As the movie progresses, this underground club becomes more of a renegade
resistance group that causes mayhem to corporate America. While Tyler is leading his cult to more
mischief and mayhem, Jack thinks it has gotten out of hand. Fight club has spread across the country
and Tyler s next mission is to blow up all the major credit companies to erase everyone s credit thus
leveling the economic playing field. Jack, in an attempt to stop him, chases Tyler around the country
but it always appears that he has just missed Tyler. Jack slowly comes to the conclusion that he
himself and Tyler are the same person. While Jack thought he was sleeping, in reality his
schizophrenic other half was working Tyler s jobs, making soap and trying to blow Americas
materialistic views to pieces. Jack is able to destroy his alter ego by over coming Tyler s influence and
shooting himself through the cheek; however, he is not able to stop Tyler s explosions. The last scene
shows the buildings collapsing while Jack and Marla are kissing.
Fight Club challenges the typical American consumer identity by creating two contradicting
characters. Jack starts out as a consumer defining his life by possessions, while Tyler lives his life on
his own terms. One of the better

Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The...
In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs; but
this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two
separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th
Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally
permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the admissions
process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear discriminatory. But if there is
a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause, in the
Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because schools have a rational reason for excluding certain individuals. It cannot accept every
student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores, GPA,
extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In short, this in
no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable interest in denying
certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies. Discussion of Cases: How the
Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special admissions requirements, like
race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial scrutiny when reviewing cases of
this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to
examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v
Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined
Michigan undergraduate requirements. Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny
when race plays a factor in admissions. The court also established the need for narrowly tailored
provisions when implementing such programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that
cultivating a diverse student body was a compelling state interest. And according to Chief Justice
Rehnquist, student body diversity is a compelling state

  • 2. Essay On New Right Conservatives united and became an energetic political force during the sixties. Attacking the alleged blurred view of right and wrong within the Vital Center the New Right attempted to clearly articulate the importance of recognising the existence of a clear political right and wrong. Founded by William F Buckley, the National Review magazine became a leading voice in promoting New Conservative values and ideas. Generally the New Right advocated a growing concern about the expansion of federal power while favoring an aggressive foreign policy, dramatic increases in military spending, and and the end to most social welfare programs. Comprised of a developed base of support from Suburban communities, especially in the south and west, of middle class whites. Combined with a concern about the decline of morality and the growth of federal power many suburban residents developed a hatred of Washington. Other common shared beliefs ... Mackenzie Mckee Of Teen Mom Three Argumentative Analysis Mackenzie McKee of Teen Mom 3 is now under fire after posting a picture of her son, who is only 4 years old, holding up a gun while he was out hunting. Of course some people think it is fine to take a young boy hunting, but most of MacKenzie s fans are not okay with it from reading their comments. OK! Magazine shared all about what Mackenzie McKee s followers had to say about this new photo. Obviously when MacKenzie posted the photo of her son Gannon with a deer after it was shot while out hunting she didn t learn a lesson about posting this stuff with her fans. The latest photo shows her son Gannon holding what appears to be a real gun. MacKenzie shared the caption Don t worry momma, I ll put supper on the table. After that McKee used the hashtag showing that she thinks she is raising him right by teaching him to hunt. Mackenzie McKee s followers are going off now and are not happy. Many of them don t feel like a boy should be holding a gun at such a young age. They feel like he is not old enough to understand what it means to take a life and is basically just doing what he has been taught is okay. Tyler Riviere 4 April, 2016 The evolutionary history of cotton played an important role in the heritage of the British Empire, the United States(U.S.), and India. Cotton continues to be an important crop and commodity throughout society. The history of Cotton is one of the most important factors to our society currently. Cotton cultivation dates back over 7,000 years, seeds of cotton are found all over the world. Cotton is hugely important throughout the world, making cotton useful to make a number of textile products. Since cotton is used and produced on such a widespread industry, cotton s largest producers are China and India. However; the largest exporters of raw cotton are the United States and Africa. The advancement in cotton textile industries, and the worldwide vast cultivation of the crop is the product of human demand towards the farming, production, and export of cotton. The global cotton industry is distinguished by its abundant industrial uses of cotton plume, which is the fiber within the cotton used to create products, along with the high production costs that come along with it. • 5. The Darkling Thrush And The Force That Through The Green... Natural instances are prominent in Hardy s The Darkling Thrush and Thomas s The Force That Through the Green Fuse Drives the Flower . Hardy reminisces over the past while witnessing a changing society while Thomas reminisces over the certain destruction of his youth and vitality, even with different concerns both authors problems are due to passing time. Both poems have a certain contrast when explaining their theme but both are aware of the idea of death being a natural occurrence that awaits all of us. The two author s similarities are highlighted by a look at form, tone, words, and continuous use of nature to depict theme. In The Darkling Thrush the speaker ponders how slow death surrounds him, and how life is diminishing with almost no reason to live in a new era full of dullness. The speaker shows intense reflection over his thoughts and works through his ideas. When the speaker hears a beautiful song coming from a dying bird, his dark realistic perspective of living changes as he sees that the birds last breaths were spent singing a song. He continues to be realistic over the topic of death and not overthink the full hearted evensong (Hardy 615), but the bird gives him a chance to think about something more hopeful in this bleak world. The bird, a thrush which is found in nature symbolizes the natural side of death. Even if it was passing, the bird reflected his soul in song creating the idea of a death just being a lulling moment in a gloom lonely world; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. My First Day Of School Essay We met during our second last year of high school. Back then, I had transferred to Richmond High from my old school, Churchill, to study in the IB program they offered. I was quite looking forward to it, actually. I felt that the past years of my life had been wasted on social life and boys who just disappointed me at the end. Moving to a new school was a way to break free, to start anew and focus on something different for a change. Studies. That s right, I was going to focus on studies. Plus, I had quite a few close friends who were going to be there, and that made it even better. The first day of school had been fun. I had some classes with the people I was familiar with. Even the morning classes didn t sound so bad, since my best friends were in there. Lucy Sun and Anna Zhang were among the reasons of why I had wanted to transfer. The three of us had known each other since a young age. They might have been a little crazy back then, but awesome none the same. They were the friends I would never want to let go of. They were best friends as well, though it seemed unlikely. Those two were as different as two people can get. Lucy was slim, with a small figure and a pretty face to match. She had short hair back then, and the locks barely reached her shoulders. She dressed the way Korea or Asian girls would dress, delicate and feminine. She took great interest in hair styles and sometimes complained about how her short hair didn t allow her to wear the style she wanted. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Mythology Research of Egyptian God Amun-Re Essay Amun Re is often referred to as the most important and powerful god of Ancient Egypt. Amun Re was the god of the sun. Amun Re is the main name of the sun god, but also has three different names in which describe the phases of life that Amun Re goes through each day. (Budge, Pg. 92) When examining the ancient Egyptian god Amun Re, four main points must be understood, including: the origin of Amun Re, the characteristics of Amun Re, how Amun Re was worshiped, and how Amun Re impacted Egyptian life. First, is the discussion of the origin of Amun Re. Re, is an ancient Egyptian solar deity (also spelled Ra ). The last role of Amun Re was Re as the creator. Egyptians believed that Re would weep and when he did so his tears would then turn to men. Re is also seen to be the creator of the seasons, months, plants, and animals. This falls back to the fact that Re is the sun, and the sun signifies life and growth, allowing all things to grow through life. Second, I will be discussing the characteristics of Amun Re. Re is depicted as a man with a hawk head and a headdress with a large sun disk. The sun disk on his headdress is to reference his continuous power and control of the sun. The Egyptians were not senseless; they did not think that a man or chariot raced across the sky dragging the sun to its resting point. Egyptians needed a way to understand the phenomenon of the sun due to their lack of scientific knowledge. They tended to use animals to describe certain characteristics of a god. This was especially the case with the ones they cannot see. Thebes celebrated a different major god Amun, the Hidden One with powers so great he could not be visualized, yet because he had to be represented in some way in order to pay him homage, he was depicted as a man with a tall ostrich plume crown. (Brier, Pg. 36). Third, I will be discussing how Amun Re was worshiped in ancient Egypt. Amun Re is seen in five ways, first, as a man, this is when he is seen on the throne as a king, holding a scepter in one hand and the symbol of life in the other. In ... From these experiments, the final core conclusions that the researchers reached were that the experimental variables such as incentive payment had little effect, while that the unmeasured quality of human relations of workers to management and peer group was responsible for most output improvement (Gale, 2004). 3.1 ADVANTAGES OF THE HAWTHORNE EXPERIMENTS In the past, managers considered workers as machinery that could be bought and sold easily. To increase production, workers were subjected to long hours, miserable wages and undesirable working conditions. The welfare of workers and their need were disregarded. The Hawthorne studies helped in shaping transformations in many areas of human relations and brought about radical changes in organizational behavior. The traditional popular belief that increasing output of an organization was directly related to increasing workers wages was disproved. • 14. Causes Of Jim Crow Laws During the time period of 1877 1954 a set of laws called the Jim Crow laws were put in motion. They were laws that made segregation in schools and public places legal. No white person or African American could be doing anything together at anytime. These laws were against all of the African Americans living in the southern states of the United States. I believe the main cause of this conflict was to segregate the African Americans away from whites, just as if they were still slaves. White people thought that they weren t the same as them just because of their race, color of their skin, or culture and therefore shouldn t be treated the same. On April 12th, 1861, the Civil War started. The main purpose of this war was to either end slavery or to keep it, depending on what side you were on (according to ferris.edu). People in the South wanted slavery to keep going, but the people in the North wanted to end it. After 620,000 casualties and four years of severe and cruel fighting the war ended. There was no more slavery, the North had won. If the South had won the war there would probably still be slavery, so they wouldn t have to make the Jim Crow Laws. This was the most important factor for the laws. With them losing the war, now the people of the South had political, economical and cultural reasons for these laws. Due to the fact that the South lost the war, there slaves were now free and now had political freedom. Now the African Americans could run for political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. History Of Deer Park Water Company Essay Do you ever wonder about the origin story behind the brands that we use in our everyday lives? Well there is a story behind the founding of Deer Park Water Company. After the Civil War, the Deer Park Hotel was built in the Appalachian Mountains located in Maryland by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The hotel was created to attract those who took passage on the railroad, but the spring that was located nearby also caught the attention of the travelers. The spring was known for the appeal of a clean source of water, this led the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to start putting the water into bottles in 1873. It was known as the Boiling Spring because the water comes through sand on the way up. A company, known as The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation, purchased the spring and the woods surrounding it in 1966. The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation decided to put the spring to a use and made a profit bottling up the water and selling it mainly throughout the New York area, until production eventually expanded across the nation. Most of the water in the spring is located near the Appalachian Trail. Something interesting about the Deer Park Hotel is that President Taft and his wife had their honeymoon there. Deer Park Water Company is a sub corporation of the Nestle Waters North America Company. • 18. Narrative Essay On Irish Dance Day 6: I was served a traditional Irish breakfast this morning, and aside from the puddings (which weren t too bad), it was similar to a traditional breakfast I get at home. After breakfast, we boarded the bus and headed for Glenveagh Castle. The castle itself was beautiful, from the elaborate interiors, to the stunning gardens and trails, and the gorgeous scenery. The castle even has a curse attached to it, showing how Irish culture is fond of myths and superstitions. After we left the castle, we went back to the community center for lessons in Irish culture and dance. Although it is not the most common spoken language in Ireland, Gaelic, is the national language of Ireland. Having their own national language would promote nationalism within the country, giving the people something of their own that wasn t established when Brittan took over. I was as good at learning Gaelic as I was with Spanish, terrible, after the session all I could remember was how to ask for a pint and how to ask for food. Out of the two sessions, I was far better at the Irish dancing. The session itself was one of the most fun things I did in Ireland, learning the various dances and the meaning behind them. Irish dancing, like Gaelic, is very important to the Irish people, even our language instructor know some of the Irish dances. Initially the United States was left out of Europe s conflict. Materials began running low for the combatants, as it requires much in the way of food and steel among other things. The US started off contributing materially to the British, not out of favoritism, but due to the British blockade they were unable to reach Germany with supplies. In traditional Igbo culture, men are perceived as the dominant and most powerful sex, while women are perceived as weak lesser people. Although women seem to play an inferior role in society, there are many traditions that exemplify the value and importance of women to males in society. Although women are mistreated, the Igbo society assigns important roles to the women. Women are the ones who paint the egwugwu house, the house to the most powerful and most secret cult in the clan. • 22. Sociological Inquiry Documents How Places Are Shaped By... Introduction A growing line of sociological inquiry documents how places are shaped by the meanings residents construct and attach to them. Specifically, scholars have studied the symbolic relationship between people and places and the ways that persons invest places with meaning and value in order to make sense of their world (Borer, 2006, p. 180). These meanings have the power to direct how and why people move to a place, how they invest their time and money, and the ways in which they do or do not engage in civic and political action (Firey, 1945; Bell, 1994; Milligan, 1998; Paulsen, 2004; Alkon and Traugot, 2008; Kaufman and Kaliner, 2011). Because of this, it is central to uncover how meanings are made, who specifically makes them, and how they direct action on the ground. Questions about the sources and consequences of the meanings residents construct are particularly salient in communities that experience an influx of new residents. The meanings new residents attach to place do not always align with those of the longtime residents of a community or neighborhood. The different race, class, and socioeconomic statuses of the new and longtime residents further exacerbate these contestations. For instance, affluent newcomers often hold the power to shape the future of the neighborhood, either by valuing the higher status local group and uncoupling the community from the longtime residents and poor and minority groups (Logan and Molotch, 1987; Anderson, 1990; Smith, ... Cross cutting issues are issues that touch a number of different aspects of the society, on general principles such as democracy, human rights, good governance, children s rights, gender equality, population and family life education, poverty alleviation, environment and development. Integrating crosscutting issues into teaching makes the education offered meaningful and relevant to the individual and the society at large . Accidents are prone to happens at an time and anywhere, where disaster management is introduced early to learners so that they know how to react to therefore avoid causing more destruction; for example in the fatal security drill that occurred Strathmore university in 2015 where security experts faulted the fact that students were not aware of the drill and had not been prepared on how to react in such a situation. Preparation reduces damage and vulnerability. So the KICD empowers learners by preparing them for anything that may happen and how to move on incase of a disaster. The concept of disaster risk management is introduced into the curriculum through various means for example the teachers resource handbooks that are developed by the KICD. The UN ISDR s vast Living with Risk report suggests that disaster risk reduction is the systematic development and application of policies, strategies and practices to minimize ... This unique status as species specific traits has inevitably prompted a great deal of cross domain comparisons, and much research has gone into identifying both similarities and differences between the two systems (Patel 2008: 3). Intonation, or speech melody , has been hailed as the point at which language and music meet (Bolinger 1972: 261). The sincerity of an emotional expression is appraised in terms of this conflict the closer a signal comes to being determined by push effects, the more genuine it is taken to be (for example, a scream of pain is interpreted as more true than a stereotyped vocal emblem such as ouch ) (Johnstone and Scherer 2000: 222). The influence of pull factors is somewhat restricted; in order for an emotional expression to remain both credible and comprehensible, the signal cannot deviate far from the underlying push effects (Johnstone and Scherer 2000: 222). Though the term emotion is typically avoided when considering animal communication, there is some evidence for similarities between animal affect vocalizations and physiologically influenced human expressions (Scherer 1995: 236; Juslin and Laukka 2003: 773). 2.1.1 Basic emotions There are, in theory, an infinite number of shades of possible human emotions. A crucial point of difference between theories concerns how these emotions relate to one another (Sloboda and Juslin 2001: 76). The majority of research to date follows the concept of basic emotions; the notion that there is a small number of discreet, innate, and universal emotion categories from which all other emotions may be derived (Juslin and Laukka 2003: 771). However, within a certain time period and region, there are recurring details in many Buddhist works of art. The First Sermon (2ndc 3rdc: Gandhara), which depicts Buddha delivering his first sermon, is no exception to this fact. The design and visual characteristics of The First Sermon serve as clear evidence that the work was created during the rule of the Kushan empire, specifically in Gandhara. Additionally, those same characteristics suggest that the piece was most likely used for adornment of a temple or other structure rather than for individual worship. The First Sermon shares many of the same details seen in other Kushan era artworks that came out of Gandhara. The most notable aspect that stands out is the work s heavy Greek influence. Finally, the small size of the piece indicates that it was not intended for any sort of adoration. With merely 32cm x 27cm in size, the work does not compare to larger and more detailed works that could adequately be used for worship. Compare And Contrast Quakers And Puritans When colonists from Northern Europe obtained land in North America, they did not only create vast settlements that traded goods between Europe and the Americas but also organized independent churches that catered to their population. For instance, when the Puritans settled the Massachusetts Bay in 1630, they developed their own government and rules compared to the Quakers who settled Pennsylvania in 1681. Both these colonies had many aspects in common but due to the fact that both settlements had different beliefs, ideals, and contrasting opinions on society, they naturally separated and created too completely different colonies. In other words, what Winthrop is saying is that if the Puritans as a colony failed it would not only be an embarrassment but also because they believed that God was upholding their colony they were being watched by every other country and colony. This clearly shows that the Puritans wished to not only isolate themselves from the rest of the world but also it shows that the Puritans thought of themselves as a higher caliber than others. He thinks that language is not simply there to describe things we see or we want to say, but the language is itself a performative utterance. For instance, when we say I apologize , we perform an act or when we get married and say I do , we perform an act. This means that some words in language do not exist outside of the language world. So, when we actually say those words that have no meaning outside of the language world, we already do (perform) something and for that, we do not specifically need gestures or movement. The Nazis were steadily rising into power and began the slow first acts of what would later be known as the Holocaust. The Jewish population of Europe went through years of horrific events and many lost their hope, family, and their inner selves. Their stories and legacies have lived on and will continue to leave a lasting impact on our world for many years to come. During the Holocaust, the Nazi Regime took the Jewish community through a very traumatic period of suffering, discrimination, and oppression. Long before the Holocaust, Jews were already not accepted into the society very well. The Nazis were not the first official group who did not agree with them; in fact many believed in Anti Semitism. Christians were often rude to Jews because they remained faithful to their own traditions and refused to convert to Christianity. Martin Luther, who believed Jews were venomous, began multiple attacks harassing Jewish people because they would not accept his new beliefs. • 45. Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude JOURNAL OF JUDE BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in Jesus Christ. We need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that He was the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he called himself a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the family blood. 2. DATE OF WRITING The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere between the years 60 to 80 A.D. 3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false doctrines sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful lives and misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. In his epistle, he perfectly describes the character, deception, lies, and modus operandi of these men and contrast it with the character of a true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In many cases, drug abuse runs in the family, and as the children interact with their parents, they tend to imitate what their parents are doing. Besides, this may not be directly related to genetics since some follow what their parents are doing. Another thing is that children from low income families tend to get involved in destructive behaviors like drug abuse. This is because they receive less attention and teachings from their parents and caregivers at the younger age. When the children are not given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Essay on Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity The narrator in the film Fight Club is questioned about his devastated condo and declares, That condo was my life, okay? I loved every stick of furniture in that place. That was not just a bunch of stuff that got destroyed, that was me! This attitude of defining self identity through a consumer culture has become institutionalized in the American society. The film Fight Club addresses the excessive consumerism as a sign of emotional emptiness and as a form of self distinction. While the title suggests that it is just another cliché action movie, it is not so shallow or narrowly focused. It instead provides the viewer with a provocative view on American society and it raises valid questions about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Tyler is leading his cult to more mischief and mayhem, Jack thinks it has gotten out of hand. Fight club has spread across the country and Tyler s next mission is to blow up all the major credit companies to erase everyone s credit thus leveling the economic playing field. Jack, in an attempt to stop him, chases Tyler around the country but it always appears that he has just missed Tyler. • 48. Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The... In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs; but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because schools have a rational reason for excluding certain individuals. It cannot accept every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores, GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In short, this in no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable interest in denying certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies. Discussion of Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements. Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in admissions. The court also established the need for narrowly tailored provisions when implementing such programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that cultivating a diverse student body was a compelling state interest. And according to Chief Justice Rehnquist, student body diversity is a compelling state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
