Criterion-Related Validity Essay
In this post, I will examine the relationship between SATs scores and student success in college
through the lens of criterion validity. Since currently Higher Education institutions are focusing on
ranking, now, more than ever, admissions requirements are becoming more strict, and heavier
weight is being placed on SAT scores as a way determining quality students. Currently, SAT scores
are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. This shift is causing a great
push to identify students of risk, and for more elite institutions, who should be admitted (Chronicle
of Higher Education, 2017). Do to this shift, there is great emphasis placed on the SATs as an
indicator of college success. The question that many student affairs professionals and educational
leaders ask are, does this test accurately measure and show a relationship between test scores and
outcomes?
Using criterion related validity, we can get a glimpse into the relationship between test scores and
outcomes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the context of Higher Education and its reliance on the SATs as a predictor to determine the fate
of many student s paths, it is important to know that the this standardized test scores accurately
measure what we say they measure.
Some things to consider about using this test to measure student success...does it account for
aspects of social capital (Yosso s Model) and its influence on how a student may interrupt a
question? Does this standardized test have a way of understanding the multiple aspects of a student
s identity that influences the way they perceive and interpret questions? Does it account for the
financial aspect of paying for tutoring? The SATs do give institutions the ability to anticipate a
student s success, but it certainly does not measure the academic

Identity Should Form a Part of Any Pedagogical Theory and...
Introduction My discovering my own identity doesn t mean that I work it out in isolation, but that
I negotiate it through dialogue, partly overt, partly internal, with others...My own identity
crucially depends on my dialogical relations with others (Taylor, 1995, as cited in Abbey, 2000).
If dialogical relations form the basis of how we understand ourselves in the world, it figures is
should also form a part of any pedagogical theory and practice. While this is not the only
consideration for a teacher, it provides a centre from which a number of useful educative
considerations can be made. Firstly: students come with identities that are informed by many
dialogical relations and that they learn by being in social communities. Secondly:... Show more

Through active engagement with students, teachers assess students competencies and continually
adjust the guidance and learning support as necessary (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). This is where
Vygotsky s zone of proximal development (ZPD) becomes a valuable theoretical tool. The ZPD is
the distance between the actual developmental level , as specified by autonomous problem solving,
and the level of possible development determined via problem solving in collaboration with more
capable peers (Schunk, 2012, p. 243). According to Vygotsky, the ZPD is critical to teaching for it
is where cognitive development occurs (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). Teaching in the ZPD requires the
teacher and student to share cultural tools. However, students do not passively receive cultural
knowledge from these mediated interactions (Schunk, 2012). Students come to the exchange with
their own understandings to social interactions and construct meanings by integrating those
understandings with their experiences in the context (Schunk, 2012, p. 244). The ZPD very clearly
establishes learning as a moment situated in a social exchange. It also establishes the role of the
teacher as not only guide, but as assessor of the ZPD. This requires constant dialectic engagement
on the teachers behalf. Perhaps what is missing in terms of a constructivist approach in Jane s class
is that while she does offer the students an opportunity to chose their

Ecological Systems Theory By Urie Bronfenbrenner
Ecological Systems Theory The Ecological Systems Theory was founded by Urie Bronfenbrenner.
This theory focuses on the impact of the environment on a child s overall development. The
identifying characteristics of Bronfenbrenner s theory are the five systems used to organize external
influences within a child s development. These systems are the microsystem, mesosystem,
exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. Each system is aligned with specific interaction
levels. The microsystem is considered to be the most intimate of the levels, in which development is
dependent on the immediate environment. The immediate environment would include adults,
peers, and siblings with influence to learning new behaviors and the environment in which the...

The Ecological Systems Theory applies to different aspects of the lifespan due to the ability to apply
the five systems continuously throughout the life span. The chronosystem can transition and
change within one s life. The macrosytem can align with infancy, this system setting examines the
culture of the individual. The exosystem can align with childhood into adolescent stages due to this
systems connection with forming healthy attachments. The mesosystem aligns with relationships
throughout life and peer interaction, this can take place in adolescence and continue throughout
adulthood and change based on experiences, in which the individuals Microsystem evolves (Wong,
Hall, Justice Hernandez, 2015, p. 32 33). There can be cultural, ethical, and legal concerns
associated with this theory are somewhat intertwined. The possible assumption that if a child is
born poor, of ethnic minority, raised in a violent setting, and neglected by parents foster care
placement may lead to disruption within the child s chronosystem. This can lead to attachment
issues related to trauma, increased fight or flight reactions that may lead to legal issues, academic
challenges, and poor social skills. There is a possible ripple effect from life events and
socioeconomic status that could lead to changes with behavior in association with the child s
environment. Understanding this theory can help with application in a school setting

Taking a Look at Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway Research Paper Ernest Hemingway was an extraordinary individual. There
was a lot more to his life than most readers know about. His writing was influenced by the
lifestyle that he led. Hemingway was an adventurous person that liked to live life to its fullest.
Just like everyone, he made decisions that were both good and bad, and his decisions and actions
shaped his writing style. Hemmingway found a great deal of success and his career was topped off
with him being awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature (The Biography

21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois (The European Graduate School). During high school, he worked
on the schools newspaper, Trapeze and Tabula (The Biography Channel). According to The
European Graduate School, after Hemingway had graduated from high school, he went to work
for The Kansas City Star. Hemingway did not attend college, and instead, he enlisted in the
military and drove an ambulance on the Italian front during the First World War in 1918 (The
European Graduate School). He was actually wounded during the war and received the Italian
Silver Medal of Bravery (The Biography Channel). Just like any writer, Ernest Hemingway s life

California s Sierra Nevada mountains stretching the distance of California. The Sierra Nevada is

To make matters worse California is in the middle of a devastating drought, causing many forest
fires. But these trees remain unfazed, as a matter of fact fire is an innate part of this ecosystems,
many animals depend on fires for survival like the black backed woodpecker who their main
source of food are tree inhabiting beetles. When the bark is chard this helps the woodpecker find
its food easier. Unlike a lot of other trees sequoias need fire to reproduce. The fire also does 3
things for the sequoias: it heats up and opens the cones releasing seeds, second, the fire makes
and opening in the canopy of the trees to allow sunlight to shine through, and finally, the fire
gives the sequoias seeds a nutrient rich place to grow (Yosemite, 2017). When winter comes
around the ice pack covers the seeds allowing the seeds to be in the right condition to start the
process of germination. In the episode they talk to a forest ecologist that works for the U.S
geological survey, his job is to monitor the trees response to the drought and in recent years by
recording the water content in the clippings they have found that the water content is decreasing.
Which is a warning sign that the tree might be dying or under stress from the drought. When a
sequoia is healthy is clippings are green and have a higher water content, but since the water
content is decreasing that the amount of water to keep the cells at an

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Propomposition
2.3 Ingredients Decomposition Oxidizer and binder decomposition play very significant role during
the combustion of composite propellants. Inorganic oxidant and polymeric binder are the major
components of their formulations and AP is the practical (still in use) oxidizer in the composite
propellant formulations [26]. Available information on decomposition of binder in general and AP
in particular have been collected and reviewed from the viewpoint of their application in the
composite propellant. This review may be useful in understanding the complicated mechanisms of
the propellants combustion. When the chemical nature of either oxidizer or binder is changed then
the propellant properties are drastically altered. It was known that the AP decomposition and
deflagration represent very important role during the propellant combustion and the binder
decomposition temperature is related to the propellant burning rate. Various investigations have
shown that the additives which sensitize or desensitize decomposition of ammonium perchlorate
either sensitize or desensitize its deflagration leading to burning rate increasing or decreasing.
Those examples very clearly exhibit the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

decomposition of binders when compared to the considerable effort that has been devoted to
understand the AP decomposition, binder decomposition has received very little attention. This
may be due to the fact that the oxidizer which is presented in large quantity in the propellant may
perhaps control its combustion characteristics. However, with the advancement of the combustion
modeling the need of binder decomposition during the combustion was recognized [34,

Essay On Space Shuttle Disaster
Scared, worried and stress were some of the things that I felt at the time. My friends were doing
all they could do to fix the problem. One was listening to whatever the engineers said while the
other was trying to build a oxygen tank from spare parts we had in the shuttle. It had been
roughly fifty six hours, and we had travelled two hundred thousand miles away from Earth. There
is nothing or no one around us; just a empty, cold, dark void that surrounded us.We were missing
potable water, we had very limited power and we were losing cabin heat rapidly.Another rocket
wouldn t have been fast enough to get to us in time before we froze or died of dehydration. Before

I wanted to cry, but I had to remain calm as anxiety and rapid breathing would waste oxygen too
quickly. We were freezing and there wasn t much power to keep the space shuttlealive. Because the
fuel cells generated the Command/Service module s electrical power, when the oxygen tank one
ran dry, the remaining fuels cells shut down. The damage to the Service Module made safe return
impossible for us; so our Lead Flight Director ordered an abort to the mission. The brilliant
engineers back at NASA decided to use the moon s gravity to slingshot back to Earth. Desperate
and panicked, my friend sat down to try to remain calm. I never expected this moment to happen
in my life. I started to sweat, worrying because if i had messed up then I would have killed my
friends and myself. The trajectory had to be perfect. If we heading to much to the moon, we
would have crashed. If we were too far away from the moon, we wouldn t have been caught by
the moon s gravity.I started to remember my wife and children again. Knowing that if I messed
up, I would not see them again. I begin to shake, terrified of the future. I haven t even started and I
was doubting myself. I didn t think I could accomplish the task that was ahead of me. Even though
I had the guidance of both, my team at the space shuttle and back on NASA. After spending several
hours, I found myself concentrated on the task

Examples Of Mistaken Identity In Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night or What You Will is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in 1601 whereas
the protagonist shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a man, takes on the name Cesario and
enters the Orsino Duke s service. Orsino attempts to romantically pursue the Countess Olivia. In
spite of all, Viola and Orsino wed whilst Olivia marries Viola s twin brother, Sebastian.
Shakespeare prod issues of transvestism, sexual differences and genderidentity and roles throughout
this play. Shakespeare s comedies were often light hearted and quite funny and continues to
entertain audiences around the world. One main characteristic of his comedies is the use of
mistaken identity such as clever disguises, mixed up twins and gender mix ups. Another... Show

It depicts those who understand enough to perceive it. The subject of the play is the revelation of
the truth where Viola eventually reveals her identity as a woman. Feast of misrule was associated
with Twelfth Nightwhere kings and nobles were to be treated as peasants and peasants as kings
and nobles for the day. This particular festivity was known to be non religious and vulgar. It was
filled with general foolishness and pretences. Shakespeare portrays the description of Epiphany
through the stunts of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian alongside Feste s humor and
singing. The irony of the feast of misrule is that throughout the play, Feste is seen as the wise
one, as a king and noble would be perhaps, whilst the other characters who were higher in society
acted foolish as if they were servants. The high spiritedness of Epiphany is seen when the
amusement of Maria s letter fools Malvolio into believing Olivia is in love with him. Another
point noting is the facade that is recurring in the celebration is expressed accurately in Viola s plan
to disguise herself as a man. This contradicts social norms of defiance of authority in Shakespearean

Ghosts Are The Spirits Of The Dead
Specter, spirit, banshee, poltergeist, apparition, phantom, or spook, call them what you wish, but
the general most common term for these creatures are ghosts. The word ghost has many
connotations connected to it in the American culture. One could mean the scary or friendly
fictional ghosts of Halloween or one could mean the more serious and controversial creature, the
spirit of a dead person stuck in between earth and the afterlife. Even if one doesn t believe in
them, one is very likely to encounter one in the American culture, whether it is through knowing
people who believe they have encountered ghosts, or through media such as movies or books.
Ghosts have been entangled in our history and culture. There are so many different definitions and
views on these creatures. Thus the issue of the cultural importance of ghosts in America is
unresolved because of entertainment views, scientific evidence or lack of, and religious views.
From a traditional stand point, ghosts are the spirits of the dead. Stephen Wagner from About.com
claims that ghosts are a common part of the human experience. In his article, Ghosts: What Are
They? , Wagner categorizes the common views of ghosts. The first is that they are the spirits of
dead people that for some reason are stuck between this world and the next, usually due to the
result of a tragedy or trauma (Wagner 1). Another type of ghostis what Wagner labels residual

executive branch? In this paper I will focus on, what powers the governor has and how the
governor or Lt. Governor is replaced if they should resign or pass away while in office. Now let s
just start off with some facts about each states executive branch.
While reading, the first thing that I had saw was the amount of sections for the executive officials

total of 40 sections, this is nearly double of what Illinois has. Also, the title of each article ... Show

In Illinois the governor seems to have 6 major powers. The first three powers are, Section 8: The
governor is responsible for the faithful execution of laws, section 9: appointing power with the

incompetence, neglect of job, or wrong doing in office. The last three powers are, section 11:
The governor may reassign duties among or reorganize executive agencies which are
responsible to him, section 12: The Governor may grant reprieves, commutations and pardons,
after conviction, for all offenses on such terms as he thinks is right, and finally section 13, The
Governor shall report to the general assembly on the condition of the state and recommended
such measures as he deems desirable. Now looking at the state of Kentucky I found that the
governor has seven powers, which is only one more than in the state Illinois. The states of
Illinois and Kentucky have 3 sections that are very similar or the same, sections 12 and 77 are
what I think are the same on most areas, section 13 and 79 are very similar in power, and finally
sections 8 and 81 are the exact same, But one power that is different for Kentucky is, He may

Practice Of Trade After The World War I Essay
.1 Practice of trade before GATT
The history of GATT discussions and the present WTO are the birth right of commitments that the
countries have voluntarily agreed with each other. To appreciate the foundation of the present
blueprint of import protection across WTO member countries in addition to products and industries
within those countries, it is important to turn to the past. Western Europe after the World War I was
caught up with economic instability and disparity of the economic recovery following the World
War II was more evident in the context of international traderelations. Economic reconstruction
after the World War I was deficient in institutional machinery to make possible the reduction of
trade barriers that has arisen during the war and had become well established thereafter. The
European countries had faced political weaknesses and it was reflected in trade policies which was
evident with the proposal of equality of trade conditions in draft League of Nations was discarded

Fermi Paradox Essay
The Fermi Paradox and Implications
In 1950, a man, Enrico Fermi, during a lunch break conversations causally asked his co workers
an interesting question, where is everybody . (Howell, 2014) By which he meant, since there are
over a million planets which are capable of supporting life and possibly some sort of intelligent
species, how come no one has visited earth? This became known as The Fermi Paradox, which
came from his surname and two Greek words, para meaning contrary and doxa meaning opinion,
about a 100 years ago. (Webb 2002) A paradox arises when you set self evident premises and then
a certain conclusion contradicts the idea. For example, Fermi realized that extra terrestrials have

also believe that intelligence is rare, as Earth was These are one of the few solutions for the Fermi
Paradox as it is does not have a resolution yet.
Furthermore, Fermi and his lunch friends York and Konopinski created a calculation which
estimated the possible number of communicating extra terrestrials in the galaxy. The equation
was formulated using R as the yearly rate of the formation of stars, Fp for the fraction of stars
which possess plants and ne for plants that can support life. Also for the formula you need f1

are able to develop intelligence and fc for the fraction of civilization that is capable of interstellar
communication. (Webb 2002) The last component of the formula is L which represents the time in
years that the civilization will be able to devote communication. The last component was added by
Drake about a decade later when he was preparing to host a meeting for the search of extra
terrestrial intelligence. Drake realized that

How Does Racism Affect To Kill A Mockingbird
Racism That Affected Maycomb Harper Lee in the novel, To kill a Mockingbird explains that
race is a big problem. Lee supports her arguments by explaining how racist people treat POC.
The author s purpose is to convince people to think how racism can affect people in the book.
What she does in order to convince them to think what and why racism is bad and how they get
offended. The thematic spector of Jim Crow and the injustices of southern racism haunt scout

nigger lover(Lee 94). She said that they aren t ever going to be able to walk on the streets of
maycomb. For example, when francis said aloud that uncle atticus was a nigger lover, He ran
around the house saying that atticus was a nigger lover(Lee 94). Scout called her grandma a
whore lady and jumped on top of her and that made them argue. To emphasize, she said she would
never speak to her again and she said that she hopes she dies tomorrow a statement that seemed to

India was granted independence from the British on 15...
India was granted independence from the British on 15 August 1947. Her to path independence
was not because of one person or just one movement. It was rather a collection of multiple events
which were both violent and nonviolent in nature. In essence the Indian Independence Movement
lasted nearly a century starting with the Sepoy rebellion(1857) to the formation of the Indian
National Congress to the Salt Satyagraha(1929) to the Quit India Movement (1942) and finally
Independence in the 1947. In this paper, we will discuss the roles of each of these movement and

or in this case the company relinquishing control of India over to the British Crown was the
Sepoy Rebellion of 1857. To control a vast territory the British copied the French system of
recruiting natives to serve in the army(Butler). Therefore, the British enlisted the natives and
trained them to serve as sepoy(soldiers) in the army. Most of the sepoy were either hindus or
muslims who would not eat meat or consume pork respectively. By early 1857, the British began
issuing new rifles to the sepoy regiments. To use the rifle, the sepoys had to bite off the end of
the cartridge, which included the gunpowder and the bullet. The cartridges were, however, were
heavily greased with pork and beef fat (Streets). If the sepoys were to use these new rifles, it would
be strictly going against their religious beliefs. This mutiny turned into a revolt under the pretence
of religious beliefs being offended and political, economic, social and cultural westernization

Robert Frost Poems Analysis
Robert Frost is a poet who is known for writing simple stories that contains deeper meanings
about life. In The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening both depict
measuring life s decisions as a piece of the account. These poems signify a journey, where one
must choose between two paths in life. In both poems, the speakers reach a point of uncertainty
in their journeys. Although both stories have similar aspects in life decisions, there are some
differences. These differences are based on impulses. We can deduce this based on how each
speaker reacted to their decisions in the path they take in life. The following shows how decisions
can affect a person s viewpoint. In Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening the speakeris on a
journey in a snowy environment. He has doubts due to being in a secluded place, a place that s
far away from civilization. He stops to enjoy the beauty and the serenity of the snow falling in
the woods. He describes the woods as gradually fill up with snow (Line 4). He s confused as to
why he is so far away from any houses: To stop without a farmhouse near (Line 6). This allows
him to capture an image and embrace the beauty of the snow falling. He even describes how the
wind is easy and he is aware of everything around him. (Frost 89). Although he is enjoying the
moment the speaker knows he must come to a decision and move on. This shows that the speaker
knows that although he can enjoy the moment, he has to continue with his life The woods are
lovely...but I have promises to keep (Line 13 14).
In the poem, The Road Not Taken , the speaker must decide the path he is taking. This poem is
about a person who comes to a road, and which path he must take. As the speaker contemplate his
decisions, he knows he must make a the road a good one. So, he should choose wisely in making
the best decision. The speaker chooses his thought very carefully. He says, And looked down as
far as I could/To where it bent in the undergrowth (DiYanni 539). After giving it some thought, he
decides to take the road less traveled (DiYanni 540). The Road Not Taken implies a troublesome
decision in a man s life that could offer him a simple or hard way out. There is no answer of

The Poem In The Right Word By Imtiaz Dharker
A poem usually contains some exact rules and instructions to get the reader s attention and
interest. Imtiaz Dharker wrote the poem the right word which I now will analyze. How does the
title seem and what does it mean? Who is the speaker in the poem? How is the poems tone and
how is it changing? What is the theme and which word and literary device are important?
When I first read the title, I did not quite understand what the right word meant and what the right
word in the text would be. Now, I understand that the title got more with struggling to do. People
struggle to find the right word to define people and if you mean someone is one thing, then

Personally, I associate the word terrorist with negative associations like, gloomy and dangerous.
If we here about a terrorist lurking in the dark, people get scared and begin to fear this person. I
think most people got associations with terrorists, and mainly in a negative way. When I hear the
word terrorist, I think of a person that did something dangerous and maybe killed a bunch of people.
The poem contains some literary devices. I think one important, in this poem is the door. The door
could be a metaphor on an invisible wall in real life were you do not let people close to you. Maybe
you are scared of letting people close, because of earlier experiences in life or because you are
prejudging the person.
I would say this poem is great, it shows a great example on the struggle to find the right word and
the problem with prejudging. One word can mean different things to different people. Media has a
big influence on finding the right word and also on how we use different words. Innocent people
are prejudged because they are different or come from another country. Metaphors are used and we
can connect them to our own

Persuasive Essay On International Adoption
In today s society, the idea of adoption is an open and welcome one. When an adoptive family
begins to explore the idea of adopting a child, it is easy for them to quickly become overwhelmed
with information, questions and decisions (American Adoptions, Inc). However, one of the biggest
problem most adoptive parents could run into is whether they are wanting to adopt domestically or
internationally. With the number of celebrities advertising the ease of adopting internationally and
the publicizing conditions the orphans live in it makes American families want to adopt
internationally. The number of children in the United States in foster care approved for adoptionand
the number of newborns born unwanted does not make the news so it domestic adoption is not as
glamorous. Domestic adoption should be the first choice to help improve our country and give the
children born in the United States a chance at a family.
In recent years international adoption has been presented as an easier and quicker adoption
process. The process is not as easy as it seems and some countries forbid adoption of their children
to families in the United States. When adopting from a different country a person must be in
agreement with adopting different ethnic or racial groups. Depending upon the country from which
you adopt, international adoption can be very costly, ranging anywhere between $32,000 to
$66,000 dollars, depending on the child s country of origin. Travel costs to the country

Virginia Vs Massachusetts Bay Colony Essay
After Spanish colonization of the Americas during the late 15th and 16th centuries, many other
European nations sought to expand their presence to the New World. The British were at the
forefront of this expansion, and soon occupied most of the eastern coast of the United States, which
was split into three regions: New England, the Middle Colonies and the Southern Colonies. These
areas were founded upon different principles and ideologies, evident in the settlements of Virginia
and MassachusettsBay. Although the two were similar in some ways, their economic prospects and
religious perspectives caused them to differ greatly. Jamestown was the first permanent English

However, as both colonies continued to flourish, so did the number of their inhabitants. Virginia
was centered around the tobacco industry and because Massachusetts, as well as many other New
England colonies, was on the coast, it was a bustling sea port. There was competition for work,
however, and Boston was the worst because it was such a big port city, where the merchant system
dominated. Virginia, as mentioned before, had a demand for labor, hence a huge boom in the slavery
system. Both colonies also had rocky beginnings with the Natives in the surrounding areas. Initially,
in both settlements, they were met with hostility because of the foreign peoples on their lands. The
Jamestown settlers had virtually no relationship with them, but with the help of John Smith, and the
realization that the English weren t going to leave, they began to help. When the Puritans landed in
Massachusetts, they believed that the English had the right to all lands in the New World, and that
the Natives were going to have to vacate. However, trade helped to soften the edges of impending
conflict between the two groups, and the colonists were able to trade for valuable furs to send back
to England. Despite being on relatively good terms, there were still wars between the settlers and
the Native Americans. This happened throughout all the colonies, not just Virginia and

productivity. 1. Create a Set Work Schedule Everything else that s important in your life is on a
set schedule dentist visits, the kids soccer games, going to an outside job. You put these things on

Long before her rise to fame, J.K. Rowling, author of history s best selling fantasy series, spent

Coronary Heart Disease ( Chd )
Introduction
Coronary heart disease (CHD), also known as ischemic heart disease is the most prevalent form
of cardiovascular disease in Australia (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2014). While
over 20,000 of deaths in 2011 were attributed to CHD. There were estimated 590,000 Australians 18
years old and above diagnosed with CHD in 2011 2012 (AIHW, 2014; Craft, 2014, pg. 596).
Myocardial ischaemia is a common form of CHD. A sufficient coronary arteryblood flow is
essential to supply oxygen for normal cardiac activities. Myocardial ischaemia develops when
there is an insufficient supply of blood and oxygen to support the function of myocardial cells
(Craft, 2014, pg. 599). A decrease in blood supply can led to the formation of atherosclerotic
plaques by narrowing or occluding the arteries. Other conditions such as hypotension, coronary
spasm, dysthymias, hypoxemia and anaemia can also decrease the blood and oxygen supply to the
myocardial cells (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1153)
A common symptom for myocardial ischaemia is angina chest pain. Angina can occur in two
forms: stable or variant angina (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1154). Stable angina is caused by
myocardial ischaemia. The symptoms are usually described as sensation of heaviness, pressing or
squeezing pain, and sometimes may radiate to other places such as left shoulder, arm, lower jaw
and neck (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1154; Touhy, Jett, Ebersole, Hess, 2012, pg. 270). On the

The inclusion of the N word allows Mark Twainto reflect the dialect and historical aspect of the
mid 1800s. It is unfortunate that many people give the N word more power than it should. The
United States has eminently advanced throughout the past century and our society has changed
substantially. The N word effect should have decreased since then, since most people in our nation
are treated equally. A former NPR news analyst, Juan Williams, exclaims his opinion toward free
expression and the N word topic. He talks about the sanitized version of The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn and states that the recent publication of Huck Finn without the use of that

(Dunne, Susan). Many people feel as if teaching this novel with the N word is politically
incorrect; however, Williams claims that Mark Twain included this word so many times to reveal
the racial attitude and life in the 1800s. Williams also states that replacing the N word with slave
is to try to sanitize the historical burden of being an American. (Dunne, Susan). The N word was
frequently spoken in America s history, and is encompassed in Twain s novel historically.

Effective Leadership Management
Leadership Effectiveness
What is leadership? A leader is one who influences others to attain goals. The greater the number of
followers correlates to the greater the influence. Additionally, the more successful the attainment of
worthy goals, the more evident is the leadership. However, one must explore beyond this bare
definition to capture the excitement and intrigue that devoted followers and students of leadership
feel when they see a great leader in action. Therefore, employees should seek to understand what
organizational leaders really do and to learn what it really takes to become a truly outstanding
leader.
Theories Models
Outstanding leaders combine good strategic substance and effective interpersonal processes to
formulate and implement strategies that produce results and sustainable competitive advantage.
Hence, it is a little overwhelming, especially when inundated with numerous theories about
leadership such as, X Y theory, path goal theory, charismatic, traits theory, Vroom model, and
contingency theory, etc... Additionally, numerous leadership styles exist in which a manager can
employ, such as laissez faire, transformational, employee centered, tasks centered, close supervision,
participative, democratic, or autocratic (Elliott 2011).
Transactional Leadership
The transactional leadership theory is one, which is most widespread and commonly used in most
organizations (e.g. military). It is based on transactions or deals made between an employee and an

3d Printing Is Changing The World
3D printing is changing the world we live in today. Business Insider calls 3D printing The Next
Industrial Revolution (Rega). Imagine having the capability of producing any product you want at
your fingertips within minutes; it is now possible because of 3D printing. Simply put, 3D printing
is the process of creating real objects by printing chosen substances layer by layer until the desired
product is made, therefore 3D printingis sometimes referred to as additive manufacturing. There are
endless possibilities with 3D printing from the medical field, to manufacturing, automobiles, to
airplanes, and also personal use. 3D printed objects are going to be an integrated part of everyday
life. Contrary to what you may think, 3D printing is not new. Its roots stem from inkjet printer
concepts. However, instead of printing with ink, it prints with material. The concept of 3D
printing has been around for about 30 years. It inventor Chuck Hull discovered it in 1983. One
day, Hull became frustrated at how long it would take for small plastic parts that he needed for
his job to be manufactured and decided to fix this problem. At the time he was working for a
business that made plastic veneers for tables and other furniture items. They would put this liquid
like substance on objects and then dry it using Ultra Violet (UV) light. Hull got the great idea to
take this liquid substance and the UV light and create 3D images by layering the liquid. Originally

Some states have different policies, for example, in Vermont, 16 year olds can legally purchase a

Greek Mythology And The Lightening Thief
It is a lovely day out, the bright sun shining down, the smell of beautiful flowers, the sounds of
birds chirping. Then, a chariot sweeps across a meadow, taking one unfortunate goddess, deep deep
down to the frightful underworld, to be seated by the King of the Dead,
Hades. Greek mythology is very interesting and can also be very interestingly weird. In the
lightening thief we see the very interesting part about Greek mythology. The lightening thief uses
the modern day society to tell the adventure packed story. In this essay I will give you an overview
of Greek mythology, along with a summary and analysis of The Lightening Thief.
Hero is the main theme of this story. We see the theme of hero throughout various parts of

the story. Courage, Love and sacrifice, and man vs. society all connect back to the idea of heroism.
Cultural and Historical Context
The Lightening Thief story is set in modern day time. Around 2000 2004 is where it all starts.
Although the setting is modern day, he author is telling Greek mythology, which began in
500 BC. Greek mythology is very interestingly different. Greek mythology also includes a number
of monsters and strange creatures such as the one eyed Cyclops in the Odysseus story, a gigantic
boar in the fabled Kalydonian hunt, sphinxes, giant snakes, fire breathing bulls and more. These
creatures may represent chaos and lack of reason, for example, the centaurs halfman and half horse.

through failure. To be successful in our endeavors , we must be able to except failure and learn
from it. We must remain passionate about our goals and do all that we can to reach them,
knowing that there are things in life that we cannot control no matter how hard we try. Failure is
a part of life and as long as we are to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off we have

When Was Toilet Paper Invented
Toilet paper; we use it every day. Most people don t think about who or how toilet paper was
invented. We get distracted by the soft feeling of the tissue wiping our waste. One of these people
who used the invention is possibly James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States. But
thanks to the man who gave us a smile on our faces, Joseph Gayetty. Although he did not invent
toilet paper for wastes, he did have a role in making it into what it is today. Now, because of him
and companies like Charmin s, toilet papers has the best place to be rolled in, the bathroom. Toilet
paper helps people prevent hemorrhoids, warm waste sticking your butt together, and stress.
Without toilet paper, humans would truly be living in the 1700 s, since there... Show more content

Also, there would be no satisfaction without it, which would make us miss out in all it had to offer.
To begin with my first reason, we can use these to prevent hemorrhoids. We use this inventionto
absorb blood from our butts. This idea was made by the creator of toilet paper, Joseph Gayetty.
We always put a lot of pressure to get all the waste out; but when putting too much pressure can
harm your body and get blood stains on your pants. Absorbing the blood with toilet paper can
prevent blood stains on rears, but it s very painful and disgusting. Moving around can feel very
uncomfortable, but at least it s good that everyone s eyes will not be locked on your blood

In 1882, Congress made considerably stronger move in the Chinese Exclusion Act, the country s
first supremacist, prohibitive movement law. The Act suspended all movement of Chinese workers
for ten years and precluded any court to concede Chinese individuals for citizenship. What brought
the Chinese to America in any case? Likewise with numerous migrant gatherings, it was a combo of
push and draw components. Numerous meant to escape destitution and oppression in China and

There were numerous offices set up to accept the migrants as soon they arrived in America.
Exams were made that were deliberately made to be difficult to pass keeping in mind the end
goal to guarantee that there might be no migrants. Foreigners were confined there so as to
experience the screenings that were needed of them. The offices had everything required for the
checks. There were clinics for any tainted foreigners. There were numerous weigh focuses in the
U.s, however one of the celebrated offices in the east was Ellis Island. Its entryways were open
for outsiders in 1892 and didn t close its entryways until 1954. Various settlers were kept on Ellis
Island before they were cleared to enter the territory. Outsiders were given criminal, financial and
medicinal foundation. Settlers needed to pass each exam before they were allowed to enter the
nation. On the off chance that workers had any illness, they were ousted once again to their country.
There were two primary parts of the Immigration Act of 1882. The principal was to make a head

Felis Cat Research Paper
The scientific name for a cat is Felis Catus.
Most house cats although they re much safer inside from disease and danger tend to be
overweight and underactive. Cats like people and dogs benefit from being both fit and active.
Exercise is a need for your cat s mental and physical health because it relieves stress and
boredom, improves circulation, builds muscle, and can prevent or reduce behavioral problems.
Cats like movement so the toy must be one that can move rapidly and in unpredictable ways just
like a mouse or bird. Cats like to scratch and stretch and need to exercise their paws to keep their
claws in good shape. Many cats like squeaky toys but some cats are startled by it so introduce them

The reason for this is because the cats eyes have tapetum lucidum, which reflects any light that
passes through the retina.
Cats also have awesome hearing. They can hear high pitched sounds better than dogs or humans.
They can detect frequencies from 55 Hz to 79,000 Hz. A range of 10.5 octaves, while humans and
dogs have ranges of about 9 octaves. Cats can hear ultrasound which is important while hunting
because many rodents make ultrasonic calls.
Cats have a very good sense of smell due to their well developed olfactory bulb. Cats are sensitive
to pheromones such as 3 mercapto 3 methylbutan 1 ol, which they use to communicate through
urine spraying and marking with scent glands. Many cats also respond strongly to catnip. About
70% 80% are affected.
Cats have fewer taste buds compared to humans. Cats have 470 while humans have 9,000 on the
human tongue.
The average cat lifespan is 15 years old. Although the oldest living cat was Creme Puff, which lives
38 years.
Cats can fit into any opening the size of their head because they don t have a collar bone.

From the outcome of the attacks that occurred on the World Trade Center on 9/11 emerged a ship

Gorden England requesting for a surface ship that would be involved in the War on Terrorism be
named NEW YORK even though surface ships were not normally named after states. The request
was approved 28 August 2002 to name the ship not only after the state but also the city. During her
construction seven and a half tons of the world trade center steel was forged to form the ship s bow.
There are two other pieces of World Trade Center steel displayed throughout the ship. She has a

The US and Brazil s Cotton Industry
Introduction
On September 2002, Brazil, major cotton export competitor, reached out to the World Trade
Organization to complain about the United States cotton subsidies. Brazil requested action against
the US by filing a WTO dispute settlement case. On 2009, the WTO authorized Brazil to increase
import duties on certain products imported from the US and to suspend sections of the TRIPS
Agreement. To avoid these sanctions, the US accepted to pay Brazil $147.3 million annually.
Starting with a brief introduction about agricultural subsidies and the cotton industry, in this paper I
will discuss the issue regarding Brazil s cotton industry, how the US and Brazil agreed to settle the
dispute, who is impacted by the cotton subsidies, and what the latest arrangement means to all
countries affected.

Santa Maria De Florence Essay
n 1418 the town fathers of Florence finally addressed a monumental problem they d been ignoring
for decades: the enormous hole in the roof of their cathedral. Season after season, the winter rains
and summer sun had streamed in over Santa Maria del Fiore s high altar or where the high altar
should have been. Their predecessors had begun the church in 1296 to showcase the status of
Florenceas one of Europe s economic and cultural capitals, grown rich on high finance and the
wool and silk trades. It was later decided that the structure s crowning glory would be the largest
cupola on Earth, ensuring the church would be more useful and beautiful, more powerful and
honorable than any other ever built, as the grandees of Florence decreed.
Still, many decades later, no one seemed to have a viable idea of how to build a dome nearly 150
feet across, especially as it would have to start 180 feet above the ground, atop the ... Show more

Male Response to the Female Form Essays
Male Response to the Female Form
Every action has a reaction. All human beings react to certain situations in certain ways. Little
children cringe at the sight of brussel sprouts, people cry at sad movies, and everyone laughs at
jokes. How do men react when they are brought before the nude female form? What is the basis
for their reactions? Do people change personalities when exposed to this? I have tried to learn the
mysteries behind these questions, and brought myself to many conclusions. The explanations of
these questions answers are not short and simple. They are in fact very complex. To sum up the
topic, there is not just one reaction, and this depends on many key factors. All people change, from

All details of the setting, behavior, actions, and reactions must be noted. The first place of
observation was a nudist village in Clearwater, Florida by the name of Paradise Country Club.
Men and women walk around with as little amount of clothing on as one desires. Most people
walking around are totally nude and people carry on their usual routines like this. The first thing I
noticed was that the males had no apparent sexual attraction to the females. Physically the males
were relaxed and their penises were not in an erected form. There was no staring, awkward looks
or sexual gestures. Everyone who had chosen to be nude was totally comfortable around each other.
Dennis Kirkpatrick, a nudist who maintains the rec.nude FAQ s website, claims that #8230;For
hundreds of years, people have assumed a connection between nudity and sex after all, the only
time many people are nude, other than while bathing, is during sex. Naturists reject this
assumption. Nudity does not automatically lead to sex and, incidentally, you can have sex with
your clothes on. The two are quite simply not related #8230; One individual who accompanied me

naked but did not think twice about the people who were. Nudism or Naturism is not a totally
common thing in the United States, but does exist. It is not for sexual purposes, but

The Model Of The Osi Network Model
Five Layer Approach Abstract The current OSI network model has been around for a long time
and with the current transition of network use we need a model that has the ability to adapt. The
ideas which bought OSI into existence still apply today and even though it is having to keep up
with new technologies it is still the basis to our network models which are in place today.
1.Introduction The OSI data model originated in 1977 and this model contained the original
seven layer protocol. The model has since been modified to be used with the changing protocols
of the network whilst keeping the seven layers. The seven layer OSI model has been able to
cope with the updates but there are duplications of operations which creates a redundancy in the
model. 2.Proposed System The OSI data model allows different operations to be performed in
one layer but with the changing technologies we are able perform more tasks simultaneously.
The OSI model doesn t fully utilise this technology, this is why the proposed system performs
all the same operations whilst having less layers. The system which is being proposed is a five
layer system which still contains an Application layer. The five layer system also has a Transport
Layer, Network Layer and a physical layer similar to the original OSI system. 3.Application Layer
The Application Layer has been linked with the Presentation and Session layer from the OSI
model. These layers share a Protocol Data Limit which allows them to now

Scientists do not argue that increases in greenhouse gas concentration have some relationship to
higher average temperatures. The consequences of further global warming are hotly contested still

Arguments for both beneficial and detrimental consequences of further global warming are wide

international community it is prudent to survey some of the arguments. In June 1999, Friederike

Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa s Seven Samurai And Yojieo...
Death leads to many emotions. It can lead to anger, sorrow, joy, realization, or more violence.
The theme of death is a common occurrence in Akira Kurosawa s 1954 film, Seven Samurai, and
Yojieo Takita s 2009 film, Departures. Each death in these films served a purpose. However, each
of these films have deathconstructed in their own different ways. Departures showcased a respectful
way for dealing with the deceased. Seven Samuraishowed a little bit of every emotion for the
deceased, but it seemed as though the 4 samurai, the main heroes, who died were not really
emphasized compared to those who the samurai had killed.
First, let s start off with the first death in Seven Samurai. This death scene was probably the most
memorable one. It starts around 24 minutes into the film, where Kambei, the soon to be leader of
the seven samurai, is disguised as a monk and kills a thief hiding in a shack with a hostage. While
the action of killing is not shown, the thief staggers out into open view before he dies. He then
collapses in dramatic fashion while the spectating villages are in awe with what just happened.
Throughout this scene, Kurosawa plays with slow motion, emphasising the spectacular nature of
this first but rather unimportant death.
After around 25 minutes later, a similar slow motion effect is used on another death. It is when
Kyuzo cuts down a samurai who has challenged him into a duel. Once again, there is a mob of
spectators in the background all in awe and holding

  • 2. Criterion-Related Validity Essay In this post, I will examine the relationship between SATs scores and student success in college through the lens of criterion validity. Since currently Higher Education institutions are focusing on ranking, now, more than ever, admissions requirements are becoming more strict, and heavier weight is being placed on SAT scores as a way determining quality students. Currently, SAT scores are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. This shift is causing a great push to identify students of risk, and for more elite institutions, who should be admitted (Chronicle of Higher Education, 2017). Do to this shift, there is great emphasis placed on the SATs as an indicator of college success. The question that many student affairs professionals and educational leaders ask are, does this test accurately measure and show a relationship between test scores and outcomes? Using criterion related validity, we can get a glimpse into the relationship between test scores and outcomes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the context of Higher Education and its reliance on the SATs as a predictor to determine the fate of many student s paths, it is important to know that the this standardized test scores accurately measure what we say they measure. Some things to consider about using this test to measure student success...does it account for aspects of social capital (Yosso s Model) and its influence on how a student may interrupt a question? Does this standardized test have a way of understanding the multiple aspects of a student s identity that influences the way they perceive and interpret questions? Does it account for the financial aspect of paying for tutoring? The SATs do give institutions the ability to anticipate a student s success, but it certainly does not measure the academic ... Introduction My discovering my own identity doesn t mean that I work it out in isolation, but that I negotiate it through dialogue, partly overt, partly internal, with others...My own identity crucially depends on my dialogical relations with others (Taylor, 1995, as cited in Abbey, 2000). If dialogical relations form the basis of how we understand ourselves in the world, it figures is should also form a part of any pedagogical theory and practice. While this is not the only consideration for a teacher, it provides a centre from which a number of useful educative considerations can be made. Firstly: students come with identities that are informed by many dialogical relations and that they learn by being in social communities. Secondly:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through active engagement with students, teachers assess students competencies and continually adjust the guidance and learning support as necessary (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). This is where Vygotsky s zone of proximal development (ZPD) becomes a valuable theoretical tool. The ZPD is the distance between the actual developmental level , as specified by autonomous problem solving, and the level of possible development determined via problem solving in collaboration with more capable peers (Schunk, 2012, p. 243). According to Vygotsky, the ZPD is critical to teaching for it is where cognitive development occurs (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). Teaching in the ZPD requires the teacher and student to share cultural tools. However, students do not passively receive cultural knowledge from these mediated interactions (Schunk, 2012). Students come to the exchange with their own understandings to social interactions and construct meanings by integrating those understandings with their experiences in the context (Schunk, 2012, p. 244). The ZPD very clearly establishes learning as a moment situated in a social exchange. It also establishes the role of the teacher as not only guide, but as assessor of the ZPD. This requires constant dialectic engagement on the teachers behalf. Perhaps what is missing in terms of a constructivist approach in Jane s class is that while she does offer the students an opportunity to chose their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ecological Systems Theory By Urie Bronfenbrenner Ecological Systems Theory The Ecological Systems Theory was founded by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory focuses on the impact of the environment on a child s overall development. The identifying characteristics of Bronfenbrenner s theory are the five systems used to organize external influences within a child s development. These systems are the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. Each system is aligned with specific interaction levels. The microsystem is considered to be the most intimate of the levels, in which development is dependent on the immediate environment. The immediate environment would include adults, peers, and siblings with influence to learning new behaviors and the environment in which the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ecological Systems Theory applies to different aspects of the lifespan due to the ability to apply the five systems continuously throughout the life span. The chronosystem can transition and change within one s life. The macrosytem can align with infancy, this system setting examines the culture of the individual. The exosystem can align with childhood into adolescent stages due to this systems connection with forming healthy attachments. The mesosystem aligns with relationships throughout life and peer interaction, this can take place in adolescence and continue throughout adulthood and change based on experiences, in which the individuals Microsystem evolves (Wong, Hall, Justice Hernandez, 2015, p. 32 33). There can be cultural, ethical, and legal concerns associated with this theory are somewhat intertwined. The possible assumption that if a child is born poor, of ethnic minority, raised in a violent setting, and neglected by parents foster care placement may lead to disruption within the child s chronosystem. This can lead to attachment issues related to trauma, increased fight or flight reactions that may lead to legal issues, academic challenges, and poor social skills. There is a possible ripple effect from life events and socioeconomic status that could lead to changes with behavior in association with the child s environment. To make matters worse California is in the middle of a devastating drought, causing many forest fires. But these trees remain unfazed, as a matter of fact fire is an innate part of this ecosystems, many animals depend on fires for survival like the black backed woodpecker who their main source of food are tree inhabiting beetles. When the bark is chard this helps the woodpecker find its food easier. Unlike a lot of other trees sequoias need fire to reproduce. The fire also does 3 things for the sequoias: it heats up and opens the cones releasing seeds, second, the fire makes and opening in the canopy of the trees to allow sunlight to shine through, and finally, the fire gives the sequoias seeds a nutrient rich place to grow (Yosemite, 2017). When winter comes around the ice pack covers the seeds allowing the seeds to be in the right condition to start the process of germination. In the episode they talk to a forest ecologist that works for the U.S geological survey, his job is to monitor the trees response to the drought and in recent years by recording the water content in the clippings they have found that the water content is decreasing. Which is a warning sign that the tree might be dying or under stress from the drought. • 9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Propomposition 2.3 Ingredients Decomposition Oxidizer and binder decomposition play very significant role during the combustion of composite propellants. Inorganic oxidant and polymeric binder are the major components of their formulations and AP is the practical (still in use) oxidizer in the composite propellant formulations [26]. Available information on decomposition of binder in general and AP in particular have been collected and reviewed from the viewpoint of their application in the composite propellant. This review may be useful in understanding the complicated mechanisms of the propellants combustion. When the chemical nature of either oxidizer or binder is changed then the propellant properties are drastically altered. It was known that the AP decomposition and deflagration represent very important role during the propellant combustion and the binder decomposition temperature is related to the propellant burning rate. Various investigations have shown that the additives which sensitize or desensitize decomposition of ammonium perchlorate either sensitize or desensitize its deflagration leading to burning rate increasing or decreasing. Those examples very clearly exhibit the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Un catalyzed decomposition of binders when compared to the considerable effort that has been devoted to understand the AP decomposition, binder decomposition has received very little attention. This may be due to the fact that the oxidizer which is presented in large quantity in the propellant may perhaps control its combustion characteristics. However, with the advancement of the combustion modeling the need of binder decomposition during the combustion was recognized [34, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One was listening to whatever the engineers said while the other was trying to build a oxygen tank from spare parts we had in the shuttle. It had been roughly fifty six hours, and we had travelled two hundred thousand miles away from Earth. There is nothing or no one around us; just a empty, cold, dark void that surrounded us.We were missing potable water, we had very limited power and we were losing cabin heat rapidly.Another rocket wouldn t have been fast enough to get to us in time before we froze or died of dehydration. Because the fuel cells generated the Command/Service module s electrical power, when the oxygen tank one ran dry, the remaining fuels cells shut down. The damage to the Service Module made safe return impossible for us; so our Lead Flight Director ordered an abort to the mission. The brilliant engineers back at NASA decided to use the moon s gravity to slingshot back to Earth. Desperate and panicked, my friend sat down to try to remain calm. I never expected this moment to happen in my life. I started to sweat, worrying because if i had messed up then I would have killed my friends and myself. The trajectory had to be perfect. If we heading to much to the moon, we would have crashed. If we were too far away from the moon, we wouldn t have been caught by the moon s gravity.I started to remember my wife and children again. Knowing that if I messed up, I would not see them again. I begin to shake, terrified of the future. I haven t even started and I was doubting myself. It depicts those who understand enough to perceive it. The subject of the play is the revelation of the truth where Viola eventually reveals her identity as a woman. Feast of misrule was associated with Twelfth Nightwhere kings and nobles were to be treated as peasants and peasants as kings and nobles for the day. This particular festivity was known to be non religious and vulgar. It was filled with general foolishness and pretences. Shakespeare portrays the description of Epiphany through the stunts of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian alongside Feste s humor and singing. The irony of the feast of misrule is that throughout the play, Feste is seen as the wise one, as a king and noble would be perhaps, whilst the other characters who were higher in society acted foolish as if they were servants. The high spiritedness of Epiphany is seen when the amusement of Maria s letter fools Malvolio into believing Olivia is in love with him. Another point noting is the facade that is recurring in the celebration is expressed accurately in Viola s plan to disguise herself as a man. • 23. Robert Frost Poems Analysis Robert Frost is a poet who is known for writing simple stories that contains deeper meanings about life. In The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening both depict measuring life s decisions as a piece of the account. These poems signify a journey, where one must choose between two paths in life. In both poems, the speakers reach a point of uncertainty in their journeys. Although both stories have similar aspects in life decisions, there are some differences. These differences are based on impulses. We can deduce this based on how each speaker reacted to their decisions in the path they take in life. The following shows how decisions can affect a person s viewpoint. In Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening the speakeris on a journey in a snowy environment. He has doubts due to being in a secluded place, a place that s far away from civilization. He stops to enjoy the beauty and the serenity of the snow falling in the woods. He describes the woods as gradually fill up with snow (Line 4). He s confused as to why he is so far away from any houses: To stop without a farmhouse near (Line 6). This allows him to capture an image and embrace the beauty of the snow falling. He even describes how the wind is easy and he is aware of everything around him. (Frost 89). Although he is enjoying the moment the speaker knows he must come to a decision and move on. This shows that the speaker knows that although he can enjoy the moment, he has to continue with his life The woods are lovely...but I have promises to keep (Line 13 14). In the poem, The Road Not Taken , the speaker must decide the path he is taking. This poem is about a person who comes to a road, and which path he must take. As the speaker contemplate his decisions, he knows he must make a the road a good one. So, he should choose wisely in making the best decision. The speaker chooses his thought very carefully. He says, And looked down as far as I could/To where it bent in the undergrowth (DiYanni 539). After giving it some thought, he decides to take the road less traveled (DiYanni 540). Virginia, as mentioned before, had a demand for labor, hence a huge boom in the slavery system. Both colonies also had rocky beginnings with the Natives in the surrounding areas. Initially, in both settlements, they were met with hostility because of the foreign peoples on their lands. The Jamestown settlers had virtually no relationship with them, but with the help of John Smith, and the realization that the English weren t going to leave, they began to help. When the Puritans landed in Massachusetts, they believed that the English had the right to all lands in the New World, and that the Natives were going to have to vacate. However, trade helped to soften the edges of impending conflict between the two groups, and the colonists were able to trade for valuable furs to send back to England. Despite being on relatively good terms, there were still wars between the settlers and the Native Americans. This happened throughout all the colonies, not just Virginia and ... Coronary Heart Disease ( Chd ) Introduction Coronary heart disease (CHD), also known as ischemic heart disease is the most prevalent form of cardiovascular disease in Australia (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2014). While over 20,000 of deaths in 2011 were attributed to CHD. There were estimated 590,000 Australians 18 years old and above diagnosed with CHD in 2011 2012 (AIHW, 2014; Craft, 2014, pg. 596). Myocardial ischaemia is a common form of CHD. A sufficient coronary arteryblood flow is essential to supply oxygen for normal cardiac activities. Myocardial ischaemia develops when there is an insufficient supply of blood and oxygen to support the function of myocardial cells (Craft, 2014, pg. 599). A decrease in blood supply can led to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques by narrowing or occluding the arteries. Other conditions such as hypotension, coronary spasm, dysthymias, hypoxemia and anaemia can also decrease the blood and oxygen supply to the myocardial cells (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1153) A common symptom for myocardial ischaemia is angina chest pain. Angina can occur in two forms: stable or variant angina (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1154). Stable angina is caused by myocardial ischaemia. The symptoms are usually described as sensation of heaviness, pressing or squeezing pain, and sometimes may radiate to other places such as left shoulder, arm, lower jaw and neck (McCance Huether, 2014, pg. 1154; Touhy, Jett, Ebersole, Hess, 2012, pg. 270). The N word effect should have decreased since then, since most people in our nation are treated equally. The Model Of The Osi Network Model Five Layer Approach Abstract The current OSI network model has been around for a long time and with the current transition of network use we need a model that has the ability to adapt. The ideas which bought OSI into existence still apply today and even though it is having to keep up with new technologies it is still the basis to our network models which are in place today. 1.Introduction The OSI data model originated in 1977 and this model contained the original seven layer protocol. The model has since been modified to be used with the changing protocols of the network whilst keeping the seven layers. The seven layer OSI model has been able to cope with the updates but there are duplications of operations which creates a redundancy in the model. 2.Proposed System The OSI data model allows different operations to be performed in one layer but with the changing technologies we are able perform more tasks simultaneously. The OSI model doesn t fully utilise this technology, this is why the proposed system performs all the same operations whilst having less layers. The system which is being proposed is a five layer system which still contains an Application layer. The five layer system also has a Transport Layer, Network Layer and a physical layer similar to the original OSI system. 3.Application Layer The Application Layer has been linked with the Presentation and Session layer from the OSI model. These layers share a Protocol Data Limit which allows them to now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Greenhouse Effect, A Torrent of Information, and the Politics of Mass Uncertainty Introduction: Global warming, the ozone layer, and deforestation are becoming increasingly discussed topics both in the international community and society. Former Vice President Albert Gore stated in his 1992 book Earth in the Balance, The process of filling the atmosphere with CO2 and other pollutants...is a willful expansion of our dysfunctional civilization into vulnerable parts of the world (Wittwer 21). With statements like this, one might wonder what stops the human race from ending this kind of behavior. Scientists and politicians are paralyzed when addressing the issue of global warming largely from uncertainty of cause/effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These gases trap heat by reflecting heat back to the surface the heat the Earth s surface has already reflected back in the direction of space after being heated by the sun (World Book 232 233). In the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change , the observed global warming was likely due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations. Chemistry and Industry magazine citing the preliminary report stated, atmospheric carbon dioxide has increased 31% since 1750, and atmospheric methane by 151% ( IPCC Says Global...Own Fault 66). From agreement to confusion: Scientists do not argue that increases in greenhouse gas concentration have some relationship to higher average temperatures. The consequences of further global warming are hotly contested still and stir widespread debate and disagreement. In fact, arguments over the existence of a natural cycle of climate change and climate change induced by human activity are considerably prevalent. Arguments for both beneficial and detrimental consequences of further global warming are wide ranging. Because the plethora of arguments contributes heavily to the paralyzation of the international community it is prudent to survey some of the arguments. In June 1999, Friederike Wagner of Utrecht University and a team from Utrecht, Amsterdam and Gainesville, Florida reported in Science that levels of carbon dioxide in the air increased ... • 53. Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa s Seven Samurai And Yojieo... Death leads to many emotions. It can lead to anger, sorrow, joy, realization, or more violence. The theme of death is a common occurrence in Akira Kurosawa s 1954 film, Seven Samurai, and Yojieo Takita s 2009 film, Departures. Each death in these films served a purpose. However, each of these films have deathconstructed in their own different ways. Departures showcased a respectful way for dealing with the deceased. Seven Samuraishowed a little bit of every emotion for the deceased, but it seemed as though the 4 samurai, the main heroes, who died were not really emphasized compared to those who the samurai had killed. First, let s start off with the first death in Seven Samurai. This death scene was probably the most memorable one. It starts around 24 minutes into the film, where Kambei, the soon to be leader of the seven samurai, is disguised as a monk and kills a thief hiding in a shack with a hostage. While the action of killing is not shown, the thief staggers out into open view before he dies. He then collapses in dramatic fashion while the spectating villages are in awe with what just happened. Throughout this scene, Kurosawa plays with slow motion, emphasising the spectacular nature of this first but rather unimportant death. After around 25 minutes later, a similar slow motion effect is used on another death. It is when Kyuzo cuts down a samurai who has challenged him into a duel. Once again, there is a mob of spectators in the background all in awe and holding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
