Raymond s Run By Squeaky Quotes
Raymond s Run Character Essay In the story Raymond s Run by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky,
the protagonist, is a young girl who is in charge of taking care of her handicapped brother,
Raymond. She will protect him and take charge of him if she senses danger. Squeaky proves to a
memorable character as I read the story. She has proven to be memorable because she is confident,
protective, and mostly because she is nonconformist.
The first reason why Squeaky is a memorable character is because she is a confident character. For
example, Squeaky will always say, There s no track meet I don t win the first place medal. This
shows Squeaky is confident about her running and anytime she is in a race she doesn t believe but,
knows that she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My first piece of evidence to show this is when squeaky is talking to the girls on broadway, You
got anything to say to my brother you say it so me. Thus we can say that squeaky is protective
character when people try to talk to her brother and she tries to keep him away from all of the
drama and not let the girls get to him. MY second piece of evidence to show squeaky is
protective is when she is at the May Day races and put Raymond into a little swing even though
it is a tight squeeze . This evidence shows squeaky s protective side because she wants to put
Raymond somewhere safe where he is out of anyone s way and where she knows is a safe place
fro Raymond. My last piece of evidence to show squeaky is protective is when she says, Next
word outta anybody and i ll be there mother too. This shows squeaky is protective because when
someone was being rude or acting mean she took charge and protected Raymond from talking to
them and she stands up and talks when she feels something is wrong and won t go down without
fighting for what she knows and believes in. This evidence proves that squeaky is a memorable
character by being protective throughout the

Alfred Hitchcock Research Paper
Aliya Jones ENG205 History of Cinema
Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was known as a true filmmaker who produced and created successful horror
films. Producing five decades of filmmaking, Hitchcock became a horror guru. From the
shocking, blood curdling film Psycho to his greatest black and white horror prequel Bates Motel,
Hitchcock was able to pave the way for other horror filmmakers. As a little girl growing up, I watch
every horror film I could think of. When you re that fragile young age you never know what, how
and when your mind will be shaped at any moment. Just like Hitchcock, I was immersed with many
things different. Horror Movies helped by at the same time hurt me. Although I was not allowed to

His 1929 film Blackmail is said to be the first British talkie (Stiernberg, Bonnie, 2012). After
gaining experience for a few years, he then left for Hollywood where his first American film,
Rebecca was filmed. In the 1930s, he directed such classic suspenseful films such as The Man
Who Knew Too Much and The 39 Steps. He ended up winning an Academy Award for best
picture for this spectacular project. Hitchcock continues making films and received the AFI s
Life Achievement Award in 1979. His time on earth was shortened when he died in 1980.
Although he is no longer here, his films left a mark on horror filming as a whole. The funny
thing about admiring Alfred Hitchcock s work is that it has become a bit of a clichГ©, which is
actually somewhat ironic since one of his greatest contributions to cinema was the fact that he
broke apart clichГ©s in not only the genre he worked in most, namely psychological thrillers, but
in visual storytelling overall. For example, before the crop duster scene in North By Northwest, a
similar scene would most likely take place at night, in a claustrophobic, darkened alley in a big
city, not during a sunny day out in a cornfield in the middle of Nowhere,

Pros And Cons Of Constitutional Conventions
CONVENTIONS
Meaning and definition of convention:
Conventions are those unwritten rules of political conduct which have got the approval of the
people and have become part and parcel of political constitution. Thought no punishment is given on
the violation of conventions, yet the people obey these because of their utility. (http:/

The various scholars have given the definitions to clarify the meaning of conventions:
According to ANSON:

Conventions related to Prime Minister:
The law does not say anything about how a Prime Minister should be chosen similarly the law
does not require a Prime Minster to be appointed. However the law says that the Monarch may take
on or discharge ministers at her own satisfaction.
On the other hand, conventions believe that the monarch has to request one person to be the Prime
Minister and head a government.
Every Prime Mister has to be a member of both House of Commons and House of Lords. Prime
Ministers in the House of Commons are elected by the public on the other hand the House of Lords
are hereditary peers. http://cms.gcg11.ac.in/attachments/article/259/CONVENTION.pdf
Conventions related to Ministers:
Ministers are given the power to make laws on various areas which are connected to the
government, including some powers legally vested in the Monarch: and ultimately, through
Parliament and parties to the electorate.
In the common doctrine, Ministers are responsible for the conduct of officials within their
departments alongside to their personal

Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places
Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and
think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary
Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in
normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts
of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it
means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an
escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic
ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add
a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man
who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions
are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with .
The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if
a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. In the beginning of the poem, Dunn
shows how much this student takes his

Interracial Marriage In The 1950s
In 1958, an interracial couple living in Virginia was arrested after getting married. This started the
Supreme Court Case Loving v. Virginia, which took place in 1967. At that time, interracial marriage
was illegal in some states, one of those states being Virginia. In the 1950s, there was a lot of conflict
going on. For an example, the civil rights movement was growing, and the campaign against
communism revealed the hidden divisions in American society. A group of Americans that is
continually growing spoke out against inequality and injustice during the 1950s. African Americans
had been fighting against racial discrimination for centuries; during the 1950s, however, the
struggle against racism and segregation entered the mainstream of American life. (History, The
1950s) Although they weren t very common, they were definitely frowned upon by society. The
Loving v. VirginiaSupreme Court Case changed people s views on interracial marriage, helped it
become legal in every state, and shaped the American culture of today.
On June 2, 1958, Mildred Jeter, and Richard Loving got married in the District of Columbia and
then returned to Virginia shortly after. However, they were in violation of Virginia code 20 54,
which declared marriages between white and colored persons unlawful, as well as code 20 58,
which made it unlawful to go out of state to marry with the intention to return and cohabit as
husband and wife (Coleman, Loving v Virginia). Shortly after their marriage,

The Social Sciences Of Modern Societies
Within the social sciences in contemporary times it is argued that corporatism has shrugged off its
previous association with authoritarian and fascists regimes, and is now deployed as a means for
analysing the role of organized interest in present day liberal democracies. Outhwaite argues that
corporatism has also passed into common political usage as shorthand for the involvement of trade
unions, together with organisations which represent the interests of capital in bargaining with
governments over economic policies. Debated publicly, corporatismis now seen as the antithesis of
neo liberalism, in which governments seek to use competition rather than negotiation as the
dynamic of policymaking. Contrastingly, contemporary academic writers deem corporatism as the
antithesis of pluralism, Philippe Schmitter (1974), who is argued to have been the leading
exponent of corporatist theory in the 1970s portrayed corporatism as a critique of what he saw as
the dominant pluralism orthodoxy in Political Sociology. The extraordinary range and diversity of
interest organisations in modern societies were, according to the pluralist, evidence for the
openness of democratic governments to a wide range of influence, and offered a benign view of
interest group politics as a supplement to electoral mechanisms for ensuring democratic
accountability. On the contrary, corporatist theorist stressed the number of organisations which are
politically influential, and the tendency for such

Privacy And Privacy In Architecture
This thesis is tending to illustrate and understand how privacy affects the arrangement of spaces in
the modern architecture of Pakistan from time to time. This study will lead us further to a timeline
of the need of privacy and modernity in the architecture of Pakistan. Architecture movements
always originated from the social environment. Life of today is different from life 100 years
before which shows the new form of the shelter according to human needs and necessity. Life
nowadays is more fast and dynamic than before we move from one place to another, city to suburb,

Modernization in industries developed a modern architecture which enlarges the possibilities of
building and construction. Large windows, freedom on ground floor plans, walls no longer
bearing the load. It feels more like the free and flexible design then fixed and inflexible as it was
before. The equation which makes modern architecture more unique was form follows function
which was derived by Luis Sullivan which gives more realistic approach in architecture. His
experiments in design give new direction to architecture, especially after WANG RIGH building.
His disciple Frank Loyed Wright brought principles of his master and develop new forms to
architecture. His plans threw aside all adherence to the traditional concept of balance and symmetry.
Much more than this, the concept of organic architecture which influence can be seen in Germany

The Pros And Cons Of The Seebeck Effect
Energy loss is a problem encountered in every industrial process and everyday technology take
power stations for example. Electricity is generated by heat engines by which gas or steam
powered turbines convert the heat to mechanical energy then into electricity, however 70% of this
energy is lost as heat energy. Similarly in all electronics devices energy is lost through heat.
So we know that electricity creates heat mainly because or electrical devices warm up during its
use. But imagine how useful it would be to generate electricity from this heat created, in other
words using this lost energy which is in the form of heat to generate electricity so eventually you
d be using every bit of energy to generate electric power. This objective can be reached by applying
the Seebeck Effect.
The seebeck effect is a phenomenon by which a temperature difference between two conductors or
semiconductors of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It all started in 1981 when a German physicist called Thomas Johann Seebeck accidently found that
a compass magnet would deflect when a circuit with two different metals with different temperature
junction. He concluded that that there is an induced electric current in the circuit that deflected the
magnet according to ampere s law. So the voltage that was due to the difference in temperature
drives the current in a closed circuit.
In order To measure this voltage, a second conductor material which generates a different voltage
under the same temperature gradient must be used. Otherwise, if the same material is used for
measurement, the voltage generated by the measuring conductor would simply cancel that of the
first conductor. The voltage difference generated by the two materials can then be measured and
related to the corresponding temperature gradient. It is thus clear that, based on Seebeck s
principle; thermocouples can only measure temperature differences and need a known reference
temperature to yield the absolute

Business Monitoring For Field Service
In an era of deregulation and increased competition, service companies must provide prompt,
efficient service that their customers will not risk losing. To optimize return on fleet assets and
valuable technician time, fleet managers need to maintain service units in top operating condition,
and have instant visibility into their locations and availability at all times.
Your technicians are certified professionals who are experienced in their fields, not professional
drivers. Yet many servicecompanies expose themselves to the risk of dangerous, costly and
reputation ruining collisions by putting technicians who lack professional driving training behind
the wheels of their service vehicles or vans.
Faced with dense dispatch schedules, technicians are tempted to cut corners on safe, fuel efficient
driving in hopes of keeping on track. Driving incidents and citations cause further delays and
increase costs for insurance premiums, vehicle wear and tear, liability, and fuel as well as damage
to the company s reputation. Yet for too many companies, improving driving behavior is merely an
afterthought. This is one facet of business monitoring for field service organizations that most
CEOs, CIOs, COOs and managers don t pay enough attention to. Considering the cost of one safety
related event, why?
Let s look at the data. On average field service technicians spend roughly 35% of their time on the
road, yet they aren t professional drivers. Additionally, according to

Analysis Of The Fight By Adam Bagdasarian
Most people make mistakes, they may accidentally do it. When people do this it is more likely that
they didn t think before they actually did it. In the story, The Fight, by Adam Bagdasarian, the
protagonist, a popular boy that got in a fight, named Adam learns to think before he acts. Which
could hurt not only him, but other people too.
One reason why Adam should ve thought before he acted, is that he lost his friend just because of
the fight. So I gave: I gave him the fight, the love notes, the phone calls, the envy, the adulation,
and the arrogant hull of who I had been. If Adam hadn t decided to fight Mike, he never would
of had to give all of this thing up. Once he was on the ground, he realized how much he had
lost. This also goes with, Mike and I glared at each other and went back to our respective
homerooms. Mike and Adam wouldn t of glared at each other if they were friends. They must
not like each other very much now. Also, one of Adams biggest problems was that he really didn
t have the animal rage to ball my hands into fist and thrust them into action. Because of this, he
really didn t have any motivations to actually punch him. He knew it didn t feel like he deserved
it or anything. This is important because, it made him weaker which made him lose his friends
because he lost. This why he should of thought before he acted. If he did think before he acted, he
wouldn t of lost a friend.
A second reason why Adam should ve thought before he acted is because now he got humiliated.
When I got there, I saw a crowd of fifty or sixty people awaiting my arrival. If there was less
people, I bet he would of been more comfortable if there was less people watching him. When
people were watching him it maybe made him feel bad if he lost because there would be many
people to witness it. I would be more comfortable if there were less people there, than if there was
more. Another example, is that he saw his ex girlfriend, Linda Lieban. When he saw her, he
remembered that he had foolishly broken up with her. When he saw her, he may have known that
if he had lost, there would be no chance of getting back together with her. It could be that once he
saw her, he started to doubt himself which in the end

Darwinists and Dissenters
Did God create the universe or did the universe create itself? Ever since Charles Darwin s On the
Origin of Species was first published in 1859, the debate between those that believe life was
brought into existence by supernatural means and those who believe in Darwin s theory of
evolution has been fierce. Each side presents compelling arguments that may sway any uneducated
reader to agree with their position based solely on the confidence they portray in their writings.
However, because of the vastness and strength of evidence presented by the proponents of modern
evolutionary theory, Darwinists have proved their point much greater than those who argue in favor
of Intelligent Design. In this essay, four arguments will be presented; two... Show more content on

In other words, the complexity of life and its organisms could not have arisen slowly over time
because if one part of a whole is not present then it cannot function, survive, and therefore possess
the ability to reproduce and evolve. Behe explains this theory using a mousetrap as an example. He
writes that if any one of the components of the mousetrap (the base, hammer, spring, catch, or
holding bar) is removed, then the trap does not function and that because the mousetrap is
necessarily composed of several parts, it is irreducibly complex... thus [proving] irreducibly
complex systems exist (5). Although Behe s theory seems reasonable, Jerry Coyne points out in his
book, Why Evolution Is True, that the... designs [observed] make sense only if they evolved from
features of earlier ancestors and that an Intelligent Designer would not have made it a motive to
have organisms appear as though they evolved (Coyne, 85). Coyne s critique of Behe s theory of
irreducible complexity further solidifies the Darwinists claim, especially in regard to his point that

How Does Edmund Kemper Contribute To The Witch Archetype
I link Edmund Kemper to the to the witch archetype because the the film Carrie, Ed had a very
controlling yet protective mother. A trait of the witch is a figure of resentment and ridicule which
I connect to both Carrie s mother and Ed s. In the movie her mother resented Carrie because she
sees her as a punishment from one of her greatest sins. With Edmund, he witnessed all the pain that
she experienced within her life from a failed marriage with his father and felt as if he was a
constant reminder of that. Naturally a trait from the witch is supernatural powers, even though
Edmund Kemper doesn t have supernatural powers he does carry non supernatural powers. By
having the ability to manipulate and exploit others which makes them feel powerful.

Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 crime film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on
Anthony Burgess s 1962 novel of the same name. It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow
fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and
murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s
combined with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny.
Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member
gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to
commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs
want to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them.
One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them
around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison.
After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals
within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture.
He is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes
propped open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this
treatment technique would cut down crimes.
At the end of two weeks, the treatment is over and the Minister wants to prove people that Alex
is now cured. He gathers people to put Alex through a test and Alex is unable to fight against the
attacks and feels sick when he sees a naked woman. For that reason, Alex is out as a free man and
things get worse outside.
The film is a protest against mind manipulations and political problems as well as social problems.
University of the Arts London Archive opened in 2007 and contains materials collected and owned
by the film director Stanley Kubrick. His family transferred it from his home in 2007 through a gift.
It contains much of Kubrick s working material that was accumulated during his lifetime.

A Nation s Economic Success And International...
A nation s economic success and international competitiveness depends upon the policies it set.
These policies are dependent on a variety of factors such as foreign direct investment and trade.
According to Phillips et al (2006), the global financial platform has been showing transitional
change over the last two decades in which foreign aid as a source of capital flow is drying up.
Markusen and Venables (1998) explained that financial institutions like the IMF and the World
Bank on their own are feeling the strains of meeting the financial demands of especially developing
countries. In this respect, economic policy makers in governments of both developing and
developed economies take great strides in attracting capital inflows... Show more content on

FDI plays in the economic growth process of the host country. A good number of the studies and
discussions show that there exists a strong correlation between FDI and economic progression. In
addition to being an engine for diffusion of knowledge and transfer of technology, FDI also
stimulates international trade, domestic investment, expands host nation s domestic savings, and
increases the host country s foreign exchange reserves adjusting its Balance of Payment post. These
factors increase the economic growth of the host nation. Exports are also regarded as a means of
economic growth. They facilitate production of goods and services efficiently by exploiting and
attaining a competitive advantage over other nations. The success stories of East and South East
Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia suggest that foreign direct investment is a
powerful tool to promote export for the host country. Grossman and Helpman (1993) explain that a
number of investigations confirm that FDI through MNCs (multi national corporations) offer
greater merit over local companies in regard to export performance. These MNCs bring intangible
assets such as technology, brand names, and skills, globally proven strategies in marketing,

John Brown Hero
Is John Brown a hero or a murderer? While growing up in an ideal Christian family his parents,
Owen and Ruth Mills Brown, raised their children of eight to obey the teachings of the Bible. The
Browns would teach the importance of treating colored men with respect and to treat them just like
regular people. As John Brownfather was a known abolitionist during his time, he would follow
into his father s footsteps and become the man that the world knows today. Many believe that
John Brown being how he was raised was brainwashed into becoming a strict believer of equality
for all men or that religion was a cover up for being a mass murderer. Historians like Robert E.

The government during this time did not consider John Brown a hero at all. He was a martyr,
straight cold blooded killer and murderer to the government at that time just because Brown
fought for slaves. Historians would characterize his actions as an act of terrorism. However
slaves, former slaves and abolitionist consider John Brown as a hero to them. John Brown should
be considered a hero in all history textbooks. Brown gave each and every ounce of his body to
make sure slavery was abolished. Even though John Brown did not achieve that goal, he was
able to pave the way for the abolishment of slavery and equality for all citizens living in the
United States of America. Frances Ellen Watkins Harper adored the actions of John Brown. She
heavily believed in him and would support him in any way. Harper would even send money to
his family after we was captured and in jail for his actions. Frances Ellen Watkins Harper praises
John Brown for his bravery at Harper s Ferry and does not believe that a martyr would do

Can failure and disappointment, create anxiety and addiction for people? This rash assumption
could be true or false, depending on their state of being and attitude towards life. It can produce
pessimistic thoughts such as should I give up? or why am I even doing this? But can also produce
optimistic thoughts that will lead them down a path, full of confidence and positivity. Ultimately,
with all things considered the real question is, will a person, let failure and disappointment uplift

Deforestation Problems
Deforestation
Deforestation is a very big problem in our world, that not lot of people are worried about, it s
that s causing many issues in our environment and issues for lots of animals. Deforestation is
when people cut down trees to get wood for building and papermaking, and to burn firewood.
They also clear land for crops to grow and animals to graze. Many animal habitats are suffering
because of us humans! Keep reading to see how many problems deforestation is doing to our
woods, jungles, and other places on our planet earth. The most dramatic impact is a big loss of
habitat for millions of species. Eighty percent of Earth s land animals and plants live in forests, and
many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforestation also drives climate
change in many countries.
Deforestation is a big problem and a good thing at the same time, just mostly a problem. Animals
do loose habitats and their natural resources such as food, homes, and strategies to get pray
because of deforestation. Deforestation occurs in Nigeria,Indonesia , and Brazil, luckily not a lot
of it happens in the U.S.A. The only reasons why it is a good thing is because it makes paper, and
furniture, and people use it as firewood but that s no excuse to cut down many very innocent trees.
If deforestation keeps happening, which it probably will, where do tree frogs go without trees?
What about monkeys? Where do birds lay their nests? What about humans? What about many
insects? What about hunting strategies using trees? What about animals who need to feed on trees?
I think you get my point. Many habitats are affected, the list goes on and on. One tree gives carbon
dioxide for four people in just one day. Thats a lot! Can you imagine losing lots of trees? If one
tree supplies oxygen for four people, why are we still cutting down many trees? Isn t there enough
reasons why we shouldn t cut down trees? If we keep letting all these people do this, can you
imagine

THIS ESSAY IS ABOUT HOW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
WORKS...
How Automatic Transmissions Work
by Karim Nice
If you have ever driven a car with an automatic transmission, then you know that there are two big
differences between an automatic transmission and a manual transmission:
There is no clutch pedal in an automatic transmission car.
There is no gear shift in an automatic transmission car. Once you put the transmission into Drive,
everything else is automatic!
Both the automatic transmission (plus its torque converter) and a manual transmission (with its
clutch) accomplish exactly the same thing, but they do it in totally different ways. It turns out that
the way an automatic transmission does it is absolutely amazing!
Location of the automatic transmission

Notice that the first gear ratio listed above is a reduction the output speed is slower than the input
speed. The second is an overdrive the output speed is faster than the input speed. The last is a
reduction again, but the output direction is reversed. There are several other ratios that can be
gotten out of this planetary gear set, but these are the ones that are relevant to our automatic
transmission. You can try these out in the animation below:
Animation of the different gear ratios related to automatic transmissions
Click on the buttons on the left in the table above.
So this one set of gears can produce all of these different gear ratios without having to engage or
disengage any other gears. With two of these gearsets in a row, we can get the four forward gears
and one reverse gear our transmission needs. We ll put the two sets of gears together in the next
section.
Gears
This automatic transmission uses a set of gears, called a compound planetary gearset, that looks
like a single planetary gearset but actually behaves like two planetary gearsets combined. It has one
ring gear that is always the output of the transmission, but it has two sun gears and two sets of
planets.
Let s look at some of the parts:
How the gears in the transmission are put

The Benefits Of A Meatless World
The Advantages of a Meatless World
Dozens of piglets squeal in agony as they are pulled away from their mother. They kick and
scream, resisting the process, but get discouraged when they see their parent quietly moaning. The
sow knows to avoid a beating by cooperating. After all, so many of her babies have been dragged
away after just three weeks of nursing. She shrinks back in her tiny pen and counts the days till her
slaughter. The same evening, a young woman purchases a hamburger, unknowledgeable of the
disease infested meat. She is diagnosed with mad cow disease, a fatal and incurable virus. This
vicious cycle should not be allowed to repeat. In a world with so many available vegetarian

An analysis, published in the July 23 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association,
demonstrated that a vegetarian diet made up of specific plant foods can lower cholesterol as
effectively as drug treatment. This analysis was run by scientists at the University of Toronto
and St. Michael s Hospital, who compared a diet of known cholesterol lowering, vegetarian
foods to a standard cholesterol lowering drug called lovastatin. Additionally, vegetarians have
shown to lead a longer life than meat eaters. According to a 30 year research, residents of
Okinawa, Japan have the longest life expectancy in the world due to their low calorie vegetarian
diet composed of unrefined complex carbohydrates, fiber rich fruits and vegetables, and soy.
Despite the boundless proven health benefits, there are profuse concerns that vegetarians do not
receive proper nutrition from their plant sourced diet. This is a common myth, as all essential
nutrients are found in plants. Even protein, the main mineral derived from meat, is obtained from
foods such as nuts, seeds, grains, and soy. Lastly, a plant eating lifestyle will ensure more energy
and better mood. A 2012 inquiry randomly split participants into a three diets: all meat allowed, fish
only, and vegetarian no meat. After only two weeks, researchers discovered that people on the
vegetarian diet were experiencing significantly more mood

Examples Of Personification In The Pardoners Tale
In The Pardoners Tale, the three rioters come together to kill Death, but in doing so they come upon
some things that they can t go back and change. An analysis of The Pardoners Tale, shows how
personification and irony are not so funny when Death is involved. Death is personified throughout
The Pardoners Tale. Personificationoccurs when an author gives living characteristics to something
that isn t living. The first example occurs when the three rioters are drinking and they hear a
funeral. The tavern boy tells the men about their friend s death. , sir no need i promise you, two
hours before you came here i was told. He was a friend of yours in days of old, and suddenly last

Little did he know that the other two rioters were planning to kill him. There are three types of
irony told in The Pardoners Tale. Another form of irony is situational irony. Situational irony is
when a reader expects one thing then something else occurs. Situational irony occurs in The
Pardoners Tale when the three rioters are in the bar, Let s each hold up a hand to one another,
each of us will become the others brother. ( Chaucer LL (696 697)) but by the time the three
rioters find the gold under the tree they all plot to kill each other in order to have more money to
themselves. The final example of irony told in The Pardoners Tale, is dramatic irony. Dramatic
irony is when an audience knows something that the characters are not aware of. Dramatic irony is
found in The Pardoners Tale, when the youngest rioter arrives with the poisoned wine planning to
kill the other two rioters, but the other two rioters had plotted against the youngest trampling him
and killing him. Once the youngest rioter is dead the other two drink the poisoned wine not

Chapter 2
Preventative Sexual Health Services
Preventative services include vaccines, screenings for transmitted diseases and infections and
counseling to assist in making health minded decisions. Regardless of one s ability to pay for
preventative services, they have a right to these services through community organizations.
However, not all communities offer comprehensive preventative sexual health services at no cost or
low cost. Research what is available in your area, starting with your local Planned Parenthood
office.
Males should be aware that Planned Parenthood offers reproductive services, general health care,
sexual health services and cancer screenings for men. The company is widely known for their

The Understanding Of Reading Comprehension
Abstract Reading is the process of constructing meaning through the self motivated interaction
among the reader s knowledge and the material proposed by the written language and the context
of the reading situation. The understanding of reading comprehension is to teach reading to
students acquire reading skills to become independent learners. The strategies of teaching will be
used to help students achieve their reading goals. In areas such as mathematics, developing teacher
content knowledge has been a major concern because it is generally accepted that teachers who
know these subjects are better able to teach them. As teachers, we need to research strategies that
can be used to teach students how to read in every content area. Our focus in this literature review
will be on mathematics and how teachers can find different strategies and activities to use to help
students learn to read and also to use prior knowledge as they implement these strategies.
Keywords: Knowledge Content, comprehension, mathematics Introduction Reading is a natural life
skill, and students must be able to read in order to function in society. Even in our everyday
responsibilities such as working, grocery shopping, driving, banking, and reading the newspaper,
we are required to do some sort of reading. One of the ways in which teachers can help students
improve their reading skills is through strategy instruction (Duke Pearson, 2002). Strategy

Pricing Policy
Q2
PRICING POLICY
Pricing policy refers to how a company sets the prices of its products and services based on costs,
value, demand, and competition. Managers should start setting prices during the development stage
as part of strategic pricing to avoid launching products or services that cannot sustain profitable
prices in the market. This approach to pricing enables companies to either fit costs to prices or
scrap products or services that cannot be generated cost effectively. Through systematic pricing
policies and strategies, companies can reap greater profits and increase or defend their market
shares.
FACTORS INVOLVED IN PRICING POLICY
The pricing of the product involves consideration of the following factors: (i) Cost Data in ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(iv) Competition Factor in Pricing:
Market situation plays an effective role in pricing. Pricing policy has some managerial discretion
where there is a considerable degree of imperfection in competition. In perfect competition, the
individual producers have no discretion in pricing. They have to accept the price fixed by demand
and supply.
In monopoly, the producer fixes a high price for his product. In other market situations like
oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the individual producers take the prices of the rival
products in determining their price. If the primary determinant of price changes in the competitive
condition is the market place, the pricing policy can least be categorized as competition based
pricing.
(v) Profit Factor in Pricing:
In fixing the price for products, the producers consider mainly the profit aspect. Each producer
has his aim of profit maximization. If the objective is profit maximization, the critical rule is to
select the price at which MR = MC. Generally, the pricing policy is based on the goal of obtaining
a reasonable profit. Most of the businessmen want to hold the price at constant level. They do not
desire frequent price fluctuation. (vi) Government Policy in Pricing:
In market economy, the government generally does not interfere in the economic decisions of the
economy. It is only in planned economies, the government s interference is very much. According to

Introduction about Linux
Linux is an operating system that was initially created as a hobby by a young student, Linus
Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Linus had an interest in Minix, a small UNIX

Comparative And Historical Linguistics
Before 19th century scholars were not very much interested about historical linguistics and were
remained unnoticed that language has gone through many changes. Since the starting of the 19th
century, historical linguistics have undergone many changes with time it has led to major revisions
and modifications to the theory and practice in this field. Historical linguisticsinvestigates and
describes the language change and how languages maintain their structure during the course of
time. Those changes are still in progress and were noticed by the work of the William Labov who
has dealt with the social, linguistic study of New York City in 1966 where his investigation
included 70 individual interviews in the public places. These studies lead to the definition of the

Poem Roosters
Elizabeth Bishop s childhood was not the typical mom and dad experience. Her father died
when she was 8 months old and her mother, when she was five, was checked in at an insane
asylum. She stayed in the asylum until she died. Most of her poems was about her childhood.
Her childhood played in a factor for not having a religious connection of some sort. As I was
reading her poem, Roosters , she refers to the roosters in comparison with a religious event, the
denial of St. Peter. Although she had no recorded religious background, I believe the story of Peter
s denial of knowing Jesus. The poem Roosters , is a comparison with her life as well as is with the
last hours leading to Jesus death, regarding St. Peter, his disciple. How this poem relates to her
life is quite simple. As a child she was forced move to different homes, all within family
relations. She had to have the feeling that her family denied her when things got hard and they
acted as if they didn t know her and shipped her off. This experience made it easy for her to write
this poem. The first stanza of Roosters , At four o clock in the gun metal blue dark we hear the
first crow of the first cock (Bishop1 3) , it is the very moment that Peter denies ever knowing Jesus.
When we look at the context that the Bible talks, Jesus told Peter, this very night, before the
rooster crows, you will disown me three times. (Matthew 26: 34) . When looking about any
piece of work, you must pay attention to this words that are being saying. Bishop says we... in the
first stanza. Who is this we that she speaks of? Peter and Jesus are the we in this context. The
Bible also states, ... the rooster crowed. The Lord (Jesus) turned and looked straight at Peter. (Luke
22:61). They were the only ones that the Bible mentions that had a connection to the crow. Going
further down the poem she talks about the atmosphere and is setting up the scene for Jesus to be
prepared for his crucifixion. She insinuates that it is still dawn as she states, blue blur , and she
sets the scene by saying there are echoes in the distance after the crow, cries in the crowd begin to
take upheaval. Bishop understood the Biblical text as she uses her words to show how chaotic the

King! (140. 1854 59)
The feeling of despair in Roland is evident in these lines. None of the rearguard ran away when
they saw a fierce battle approaching. Instead, they followed orders and fought honorably under the
command of Roland. At the sight of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is notable to realize that Roland is physically about to die, yet the obligation of blessing his
companions is his top priority. Roland returns, lays the brave men down according to their rank,
and watches as the Archbishop blesses each one. Roland shows particular emotion when he sees
Oliver lying on the plain When Roland fixes his eyes on Oliver s cold body, he
felt such grief and pity, he begins to weep; and his face lost its color with what he felt: a pain so
great he cannot keep on standing, he has no choice, falls fainting to the ground. (164. 2215 20)
Roland and Oliver s relationship is much more meaningful than friendship. Although the two
arguments between Oliver and Roland seem like they pit each vassal against each other, they still
resemble brothers in arms (Ailes). No matter how different they may seem, Roland honors Oliver
in the end. In addition, the Twelve Peers that fought so bravely by Roland s side. Through the
excruciating loss of twenty thousand French soldiers, including his dear companions, Roland s
final words still bless his Heavenly Lord. Just hours before this moment, Roland was so caught up
in his pride that he didn t even realize how he had endangered the lives of his troops and disobeyed
his feudal relationship with Charlemagne. His pride distorted his motivation behind attacking the

twentieth century because of the roles that it played in making the United States the way that it is
today. Race was also a factor in how changes were made to our laws, the events that transpired
throughout those 100 years, and the way that people were treated. Race has been an issue
throughout our nation s history that we cannot deny and is still an issue in today s society. The

How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Affect The...
Aim:
To investigate how concentration affects the volume of gas that is produced after one minute.
Background Information:
In this experiment hydrochloric acid is reacting with magnesium to form magnesium chloride and
hydrogen, and the chemical equation goes as follows:
Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) == MgCl2 (aq) + H2 (g)
Particles must collide with each other at a certain activation energy in order for a chemical reaction
to take place. Reducing the concentration reduces the amount of particles, which in turn reduces the
probability of particles colliding with enough activation energy thus reducing the rate of reaction.
Hypothesis:
I predict that the rate of reaction will increase as the concentration increases. This is due to the fact
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was clear to see as the amount of gas produced after one minute with the hydrochloric acid of
0.5 molars was 6.5ml, while the hydrochloric acid with 2M produced 68ml of gas after one minute.
The results that I got agree with my hypothesis because I predicted that the higher the concentration
the faster the rate of reaction would be, and the results I got show that more gas was produced at
each given time interval as the concentration increased. THis is due to the fact that as the
concentration increases, the number of particles increases. Therefore, resulting in a higher chance
of successful collision which in turn increases the rate of

In the 80`s, he had an encounter with Homosexuals. During 80 s, radical groups placed the blame
for AIDs on President Reagan. Horowitz did not have substantive evidence on the blame. Therefore,
he decided to conduct research. Horowitz did not understand the reasons why the people blamed
President Reagan for AID`s. Through his investigation, he found disgusting lies. He found that the
story had some political aspects, which had more significance than he and other citizens could think
about. Members from the gay community had stamped down the findings on the AID`s research.
Horowitz found out that the gay community leaders did not want people to identify their gay
lifestyle as a cause of the disease. The actual findings by researchers showed that a promiscuous
lifestyle and gay lifestyles contributed to 95% of the AID`s cases reported during the period in San
Francisco. The gay community leaders did not want the research information to reach the public.
The information would lead to a public commotion regarding gay sex. The report showed anal sex
was the source of almost all transmissions (340). Through the encounter with the leaders in the gay
community, Horowitz came to understand a number of things. Firstly, he found that the gay leaders
did not want this information to reach members of the gay community. If the members of the gay
community leant

The story explains how he had severe mental and physical abuse and how they treated him like
an animal while serving his sentence. The only way he was able to hold himself was through
reading and writing poetry, stories, and art. What made his story so special is that he is able to
not only overcome so many obstacles, but he also is able to better himself and get educated. He
shows us readers how even if you re in a bad situation like his, nothing could stop you from
accomplishing your dream and educating yourself to become a better version of yourself.
Throughout his life Jimmy found passion for poetry. Poetry became a big part of his life, he

to aspire to live up. It informed how I saw the world and purpose to it. pg (5)
He found poetry as a tool to help him escape from everything he had been through in his life. Which
made him more knowledgeable about life and the reasoning behind everything.
Jimmy went through a lot of pain his experience would soon be the cause of a life filled with trust
issues. I felt lost and confused around grown ups. They never told the truth. They were always
hiding something that would eventually hurt me. pg (19). This shows how people are not satisfied

  • 2. Raymond s Run By Squeaky Quotes Raymond s Run Character Essay In the story Raymond s Run by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky, the protagonist, is a young girl who is in charge of taking care of her handicapped brother, Raymond. She will protect him and take charge of him if she senses danger. Squeaky proves to a memorable character as I read the story. She has proven to be memorable because she is confident, protective, and mostly because she is nonconformist. The first reason why Squeaky is a memorable character is because she is a confident character. For example, Squeaky will always say, There s no track meet I don t win the first place medal. This shows Squeaky is confident about her running and anytime she is in a race she doesn t believe but, knows that she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My first piece of evidence to show this is when squeaky is talking to the girls on broadway, You got anything to say to my brother you say it so me. Thus we can say that squeaky is protective character when people try to talk to her brother and she tries to keep him away from all of the drama and not let the girls get to him. MY second piece of evidence to show squeaky is protective is when she is at the May Day races and put Raymond into a little swing even though it is a tight squeeze . This evidence shows squeaky s protective side because she wants to put Raymond somewhere safe where he is out of anyone s way and where she knows is a safe place fro Raymond. My last piece of evidence to show squeaky is protective is when she says, Next word outta anybody and i ll be there mother too. This shows squeaky is protective because when someone was being rude or acting mean she took charge and protected Raymond from talking to them and she stands up and talks when she feels something is wrong and won t go down without fighting for what she knows and believes in. Producing five decades of filmmaking, Hitchcock became a horror guru. From the shocking, blood curdling film Psycho to his greatest black and white horror prequel Bates Motel, Hitchcock was able to pave the way for other horror filmmakers. As a little girl growing up, I watch every horror film I could think of. When you re that fragile young age you never know what, how and when your mind will be shaped at any moment. After gaining experience for a few years, he then left for Hollywood where his first American film, Rebecca was filmed. In the 1930s, he directed such classic suspenseful films such as The Man Who Knew Too Much and The 39 Steps. He ended up winning an Academy Award for best picture for this spectacular project. Hitchcock continues making films and received the AFI s Life Achievement Award in 1979. His time on earth was shortened when he died in 1980. Although he is no longer here, his films left a mark on horror filming as a whole. The funny thing about admiring Alfred Hitchcock s work is that it has become a bit of a clichГ©, which is actually somewhat ironic since one of his greatest contributions to cinema was the fact that he broke apart clichГ©s in not only the genre he worked in most, namely psychological thrillers, but in visual storytelling overall. For example, before the crop duster scene in North By Northwest, a similar scene would most likely take place at night, in a claustrophobic, darkened alley in a big city, not during a sunny day out in a cornfield in the middle of Nowhere, ... Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with . The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. Virginia, which took place in 1967. At that time, interracial marriage was illegal in some states, one of those states being Virginia. In the 1950s, there was a lot of conflict going on. For an example, the civil rights movement was growing, and the campaign against communism revealed the hidden divisions in American society. A group of Americans that is continually growing spoke out against inequality and injustice during the 1950s. African Americans had been fighting against racial discrimination for centuries; during the 1950s, however, the struggle against racism and segregation entered the mainstream of American life. (History, The 1950s) Although they weren t very common, they were definitely frowned upon by society. The Loving v. On June 2, 1958, Mildred Jeter, and Richard Loving got married in the District of Columbia and then returned to Virginia shortly after. However, they were in violation of Virginia code 20 54, which declared marriages between white and colored persons unlawful, as well as code 20 58, which made it unlawful to go out of state to marry with the intention to return and cohabit as husband and wife (Coleman, Loving v Virginia). The Social Sciences Of Modern Societies Within the social sciences in contemporary times it is argued that corporatism has shrugged off its previous association with authoritarian and fascists regimes, and is now deployed as a means for analysing the role of organized interest in present day liberal democracies. Outhwaite argues that corporatism has also passed into common political usage as shorthand for the involvement of trade unions, together with organisations which represent the interests of capital in bargaining with governments over economic policies. Debated publicly, corporatismis now seen as the antithesis of neo liberalism, in which governments seek to use competition rather than negotiation as the dynamic of policymaking. Contrastingly, contemporary academic writers deem corporatism as the antithesis of pluralism, Philippe Schmitter (1974), who is argued to have been the leading exponent of corporatist theory in the 1970s portrayed corporatism as a critique of what he saw as the dominant pluralism orthodoxy in Political Sociology. The extraordinary range and diversity of interest organisations in modern societies were, according to the pluralist, evidence for the openness of democratic governments to a wide range of influence, and offered a benign view of interest group politics as a supplement to electoral mechanisms for ensuring democratic accountability. On the contrary, corporatist theorist stressed the number of organisations which are politically influential, and the tendency for such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Pros And Cons Of The Seebeck Effect Energy loss is a problem encountered in every industrial process and everyday technology take power stations for example. Electricity is generated by heat engines by which gas or steam powered turbines convert the heat to mechanical energy then into electricity, however 70% of this energy is lost as heat energy. Similarly in all electronics devices energy is lost through heat. So we know that electricity creates heat mainly because or electrical devices warm up during its use. But imagine how useful it would be to generate electricity from this heat created, in other words using this lost energy which is in the form of heat to generate electricity so eventually you d be using every bit of energy to generate electric power. This objective can be reached by applying the Seebeck Effect. The seebeck effect is a phenomenon by which a temperature difference between two conductors or semiconductors of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all started in 1981 when a German physicist called Thomas Johann Seebeck accidently found that a compass magnet would deflect when a circuit with two different metals with different temperature junction. He concluded that that there is an induced electric current in the circuit that deflected the magnet according to ampere s law. So the voltage that was due to the difference in temperature drives the current in a closed circuit. In order To measure this voltage, a second conductor material which generates a different voltage under the same temperature gradient must be used. Otherwise, if the same material is used for measurement, the voltage generated by the measuring conductor would simply cancel that of the first conductor. The voltage difference generated by the two materials can then be measured and related to the corresponding temperature gradient. It is thus clear that, based on Seebeck s principle; thermocouples can only measure temperature differences and need a known reference temperature to yield the absolute ... • 18. Business Monitoring For Field Service In an era of deregulation and increased competition, service companies must provide prompt, efficient service that their customers will not risk losing. To optimize return on fleet assets and valuable technician time, fleet managers need to maintain service units in top operating condition, and have instant visibility into their locations and availability at all times. Your technicians are certified professionals who are experienced in their fields, not professional drivers. Yet many servicecompanies expose themselves to the risk of dangerous, costly and reputation ruining collisions by putting technicians who lack professional driving training behind the wheels of their service vehicles or vans. Faced with dense dispatch schedules, technicians are tempted to cut corners on safe, fuel efficient driving in hopes of keeping on track. Driving incidents and citations cause further delays and increase costs for insurance premiums, vehicle wear and tear, liability, and fuel as well as damage to the company s reputation. Yet for too many companies, improving driving behavior is merely an afterthought. This is one facet of business monitoring for field service organizations that most CEOs, CIOs, COOs and managers don t pay enough attention to. Considering the cost of one safety related event, why? Let s look at the data. On average field service technicians spend roughly 35% of their time on the road, yet they aren t professional drivers. Additionally, according to ... • 20. Analysis Of The Fight By Adam Bagdasarian Most people make mistakes, they may accidentally do it. When people do this it is more likely that they didn t think before they actually did it. In the story, The Fight, by Adam Bagdasarian, the protagonist, a popular boy that got in a fight, named Adam learns to think before he acts. Which could hurt not only him, but other people too. One reason why Adam should ve thought before he acted, is that he lost his friend just because of the fight. So I gave: I gave him the fight, the love notes, the phone calls, the envy, the adulation, and the arrogant hull of who I had been. If Adam hadn t decided to fight Mike, he never would of had to give all of this thing up. Once he was on the ground, he realized how much he had lost. This also goes with, Mike and I glared at each other and went back to our respective homerooms. Mike and Adam wouldn t of glared at each other if they were friends. They must not like each other very much now. Also, one of Adams biggest problems was that he really didn t have the animal rage to ball my hands into fist and thrust them into action. Because of this, he really didn t have any motivations to actually punch him. He knew it didn t feel like he deserved it or anything. This is important because, it made him weaker which made him lose his friends because he lost. This why he should of thought before he acted. If he did think before he acted, he wouldn t of lost a friend. A second reason why Adam should ve thought before he acted is because now he got humiliated. When I got there, I saw a crowd of fifty or sixty people awaiting my arrival. If there was less people, I bet he would of been more comfortable if there was less people watching him. When people were watching him it maybe made him feel bad if he lost because there would be many people to witness it. I would be more comfortable if there were less people there, than if there was more. Another example, is that he saw his ex girlfriend, Linda Lieban. When he saw her, he remembered that he had foolishly broken up with her. When he saw her, he may have known that if he had lost, there would be no chance of getting back together with her. It could be that once he saw her, he started to doubt himself which in the end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since Charles Darwin s On the Origin of Species was first published in 1859, the debate between those that believe life was brought into existence by supernatural means and those who believe in Darwin s theory of evolution has been fierce. Each side presents compelling arguments that may sway any uneducated reader to agree with their position based solely on the confidence they portray in their writings. However, because of the vastness and strength of evidence presented by the proponents of modern evolutionary theory, Darwinists have proved their point much greater than those who argue in favor of Intelligent Design. A trait of the witch is a figure of resentment and ridicule which I connect to both Carrie s mother and Ed s. In the movie her mother resented Carrie because she sees her as a punishment from one of her greatest sins. With Edmund, he witnessed all the pain that she experienced within her life from a failed marriage with his father and felt as if he was a constant reminder of that. • 25. Clockwork Orange Analysis A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 crime film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on Anthony Burgess s 1962 novel of the same name. It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s combined with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny. Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs want to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them. One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison. After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture. He is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes propped open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this treatment technique would cut down crimes. At the end of two weeks, the treatment is over and the Minister wants to prove people that Alex is now cured. He gathers people to put Alex through a test and Alex is unable to fight against the attacks and feels sick when he sees a naked woman. For that reason, Alex is out as a free man and things get worse outside. The film is a protest against mind manipulations and political problems as well as social problems. University of the Arts London Archive opened in 2007 and contains materials collected and owned by the film director Stanley Kubrick. His family transferred it from his home in 2007 through a gift. Eighty percent of Earth s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforestation also drives climate change in many countries. Animals do loose habitats and their natural resources such as food, homes, and strategies to get pray because of deforestation. Deforestation occurs in Nigeria,Indonesia , and Brazil, luckily not a lot of it happens in the U.S.A. The only reasons why it is a good thing is because it makes paper, and furniture, and people use it as firewood but that s no excuse to cut down many very innocent trees. This approach to pricing enables companies to either fit costs to prices or scrap products or services that cannot be generated cost effectively. Pricing policy has some managerial discretion where there is a considerable degree of imperfection in competition. In perfect competition, the individual producers have no discretion in pricing. In other market situations like oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the individual producers take the prices of the rival products in determining their price. If the primary determinant of price changes in the competitive condition is the market place, the pricing policy can least be categorized as competition based pricing. • 43. Poem Roosters Elizabeth Bishop s childhood was not the typical mom and dad experience. Her father died when she was 8 months old and her mother, when she was five, was checked in at an insane asylum. She stayed in the asylum until she died. Most of her poems was about her childhood. Her childhood played in a factor for not having a religious connection of some sort. As I was reading her poem, Roosters , she refers to the roosters in comparison with a religious event, the denial of St. Peter. Although she had no recorded religious background, I believe the story of Peter s denial of knowing Jesus. The poem Roosters , is a comparison with her life as well as is with the last hours leading to Jesus death, regarding St. Peter, his disciple. How this poem relates to her life is quite simple. As a child she was forced move to different homes, all within family relations. She had to have the feeling that her family denied her when things got hard and they acted as if they didn t know her and shipped her off. This experience made it easy for her to write this poem. The first stanza of Roosters , At four o clock in the gun metal blue dark we hear the first crow of the first cock (Bishop1 3) , it is the very moment that Peter denies ever knowing Jesus. When we look at the context that the Bible talks, Jesus told Peter, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times. (Matthew 26: 34) . When looking about any piece of work, you must pay attention to this words that are being saying. Bishop says we... in the first stanza. Who is this we that she speaks of? Peter and Jesus are the we in this context. The Bible also states, ... the rooster crowed. The Lord (Jesus) turned and looked straight at Peter. (Luke 22:61). They were the only ones that the Bible mentions that had a connection to the crow. Going further down the poem she talks about the atmosphere and is setting up the scene for Jesus to be prepared for his crucifixion. She insinuates that it is still dawn as she states, blue blur , and she sets the scene by saying there are echoes in the distance after the crow, cries in the crowd begin to take upheaval. • 46. How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Affect The... Aim: To investigate how concentration affects the volume of gas that is produced after one minute. Background Information: In this experiment hydrochloric acid is reacting with magnesium to form magnesium chloride and hydrogen, and the chemical equation goes as follows: Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) == MgCl2 (aq) + H2 (g) Particles must collide with each other at a certain activation energy in order for a chemical reaction to take place. Reducing the concentration reduces the amount of particles, which in turn reduces the probability of particles colliding with enough activation energy thus reducing the rate of reaction. Hypothesis: I predict that the rate of reaction will increase as the concentration increases. This is due to the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was clear to see as the amount of gas produced after one minute with the hydrochloric acid of 0.5 molars was 6.5ml, while the hydrochloric acid with 2M produced 68ml of gas after one minute. The results that I got agree with my hypothesis because I predicted that the higher the concentration the faster the rate of reaction would be, and the results I got show that more gas was produced at each given time interval as the concentration increased. THis is due to the fact that as the concentration increases, the number of particles increases. Therefore, resulting in a higher chance of successful collision which in turn increases the rate of ...
